The Ford Mustang is a sporty car made by Ford, usually as a coupe or convertible. People talk about it a lot because it can be set up to handle more aggressively, especially with low-profile tires. Those tires can make the car feel more responsive when you drive.
Low-profile tires have less rubber “height” on the side. That makes them look sporty, but potholes can hit harder and are more likely to damage the wheel.
The Toyota Camry is a common everyday sedan that many people use for commuting and family driving. If someone says they had to take it in more than once, it usually means they had a problem that needed service again. The discussion is likely about what that issue was and how often it came back.
Wheel balancing is making sure the tire and wheel spin smoothly. If you hit a pothole hard enough to affect the tire/wheel, you may need balancing so the car doesn’t shake.
The rim is the metal part of the wheel that the tire sits on. If you hit a pothole, it can bend or damage the rim, and then the tire may not sit right or may need more work.
The DeLorean DMC-12 is a sports car with very unusual doors that open upward like wings. It’s famous for its look, so people often mention it even if they don’t see it often on the road. The conversation is likely about the car’s identity and history.
The Corvette is Chevrolet’s famous sports car. The ZR1 version is the most extreme, high-performance Corvette—so when they talk about a 2026 Corvette ZR1 price, they’re talking about the very top trim.
Concept
hypercar mode
“Hypercar mode” is just a way of saying the car is in the super-expensive, super-fast category. It’s more about how extreme it feels and costs than a specific technical definition.
The Ford Mustang GTD is a high-performance version of the Mustang. The conversation is comparing it to the regular Mustang GT to explain what changes when you choose the GTD. In simple terms, it’s meant to be the more serious, performance-oriented option.
The Shelby GT500 is a very powerful Mustang made for performance. People talk about it because different versions can have different power and driving characteristics. Even if someone isn’t sure which one is best, they may still know the GT500 name as the top-performance model.
The GT 500 is Ford’s most extreme Mustang version—basically the big, headline-grabbing performance one. The host is wondering if it’s still available this year.
Here, “premium” just means “more expensive” because it’s the higher-end version. The host is saying that the extra cost between cars is bigger than it used to be.
The Z06 is a more powerful, more performance-focused version of the Corvette. In this discussion, it’s used to show how the price climbs when you choose the faster trim.
A car payment is the monthly bill you pay to finance a car. It depends on the car price and the loan terms, like how long you finance it and what interest rate you get.
The interest rate is what the lender charges for letting you borrow money. A higher interest rate usually means a bigger monthly payment and more total cost.
The Lotus Esprit is a classic British sports car with a very recognizable shape. Here, the host is talking about one that has a broken engine, which is why people often consider rebuilding it or swapping in a different powertrain.
“Blown up motor” means the engine is seriously damaged and probably won’t run. It typically needs a rebuild or a replacement engine to get the car back on the road.
A body kit is a set of add-on parts that changes a car’s look, like bumpers and side pieces. People also do it to make the car look more aggressive, and sometimes it can help airflow too.
“LS” usually means a GM V8 engine swap—people pick it because it’s common, parts are widely available, and it’s known to be a strong, reliable platform. Here, it’s being floated as a replacement for the Esprit’s broken engine.
Term
right wheels
When people say “right wheels,” they mean the wheels and tires that fit the car properly and look the way they want. It can also affect how the car drives, because wheel and tire choices change grip and ride feel.
The Cadillac Lyriq is an electric SUV, meaning it runs on electricity instead of gasoline. It’s designed for everyday driving with a focus on comfort and modern features. In the podcast, it sounds like the name came up in a casual, memorable way.

Happy Saturday America! Your Let's Talk Cars Radio on WKQA Freedom Radio. I'm your host,
Big Davey P, hanging out with Cameron Kass and Nate VB. Hey, as I always tell you guys,
it is a great day for a radio show. It is hopefully a great day for a car show where you guys are
at. You're getting out enjoying yourself. Man, the summer is blazing by. I mean, it's just,
it is almost so quick. It is. We're gonna get through it. The good thing is, in our area,
the temperatures come down just a little bit. Has it? Yeah, it has. It ran like 72 today. I think
the highest I think I saw it. It was like 76, which it would be great weather for a car show. So,
you know, I mean, like, get out there, enjoy yourself. A lot of different car shows coming up.
Hey, somebody sent me a message, and yes, we do have more events that we are going to be showing
up at. So, keep you posted. I'll try to get them up there and let you guys know where we're gonna
be at. It's very hard sometimes. Like I said, some things we're committed to, and some things are
our last-minute drop for us. As you guys know, we will be out at SEMA. So, check us out in Vegas.
Come out and hang out with us in SEMA. And I have the poor show is actually getting ready to come
up here in the Hamrods area in October. I will get you guys all of that information. It's over at
the Military Museum over there in Pungo. So, aviation museum, right? Aviation museum, correct.
And we're gonna be out there set up hosting that as well with them. So, we're excited about doing
that. I also hear that Poncho is gonna be there singing live. So, you guys are gonna definitely
want to get over there and check that out. Can I pull the dates up for that for me if you can?
I usually have it sitting in front of me, but I just happen to think about it as we went on the air.
But definitely cool if you guys have never done that experience. We did a while back,
but aviation museum, car show, there's like kind of a little bit of wine beer festival thing going
on at the same point in time there. You can tour the museum, see all the cars, hang out. They got
food. They got it all. I mean, it's a lot to do. Yeah, a lot to do. Like I said, we're gonna be there
playing some tunes for you guys. And like I said, we're gonna have live music as well there.
It should be a really, really cool event. So, start planning in October. Is that October 11th?
Is that what that is? He's like, I don't know. Trying to access my calendar. Oh, let me see.
I'll see if I can pull it up for us here. I just saw it go out there again on the message board. So,
here we go. Let's see if I can pull it up. It's maybe not. I'll get you guys the information on it.
Like I said, I know it's out there somewhere. I was hoping Cameron people access it pretty quickly,
but I'm going through all the invites. It's a lot guys. All the stuff I've invited to go to,
and it's a lot. So, it's gonna be buried in there somewhere, but we will be out there at that show.
And like I said, it's gonna be a really cool event out there. So, as soon as I get Cameron to find me
the dates out of Aviation Museum in Pungo, we'll let you guys know. I do got some cool topics for
you guys. Apparently, I've been sleeping underneath a rock because Nathaniel told me he's like,
did you know that? I didn't know. Apparently, I missed the campaign. I guess,
or Nathaniel and Cameron said it's both been going on for like a while. I don't know when it started,
but Domino's Pizza Fixing Potholes. So, your pizza gets back to you safely to your house when you
order it. They had like a whole campaign and Nathaniel was like, I've been doing that for a while.
Suddenly, some information that came over to me in a media packet, and I was reading, I was just like,
what? And I had to go through it. I thought it was new. Apparently, not. How long they've been
doing it, Nathaniel? Does it tell you at all? Nah, I'm looking. Yeah. I think it's funny because
it's the reverse. If you guys remember years ago, we were talking about the guys that were
planning, do you remember they were planning trees and flowers and potholes down highways because
nobody would fix them. So, they were just stopping and putting flowers and trees in these potholes
and mulching them in all nice and neat. So, you could like come on like down the road and there
would be like flowers playing it in all these certain potholes. And I thought that was creative
because it made media attention. I mean, we're still talking about it years later, but I thought
it was a good way to bring attention to the fact that people weren't fixing potholes and they
weren't doing anything. So, they were being, you know, clever, I guess, to do it all. And then I
read this thing. Starting in 2018. 2018, they started fixing potholes. Paving for pizza campaign.
It's save your pizza. What's a messy pizza? It's, I don't know. In your guys, if you guys
tell me, in your guys area, I mean, like, I know in the city potholes tend to be like that. I think
it's a great idea, but it's, it's kind of a sad issue when a pizza chain has to kind of step in
and fix the roads for you when like those should already be kind of fixed as they appear. Right.
Don't you think? I think that, okay, there's certain stretches of road that I drive
that it seems like the potholes that they just get worse. They never get fixed. They've never
been fixed ever at all. That or they wait till it's so bad and they just paint it all at once.
No, absolutely. Right. I agree with you. Like, it's one of those things where if,
if you know it's bad, like, so my understanding was a while back, right, that if your car was
damaged by like a pothole and then you called it in or something like that, somebody's told
me this, and I don't know how true it is. They're like the city, if you, I guess, if you're a
pester man enough would pay to fix that. I would say after that before too, but then it's like,
you know, how long does that really take for it to go through the works?
No different than like a warranty company. One of the things if a big rock truck or
window, they're alive before, but now you see like these trucks have not responsible for damage
and big letters written on the back of the truck. And I'm going, nah, but aren't you still kind of like,
if you're, I think they just kind of like load and the load comes off and it hits your vehicle,
like, I would think you'd be no different if I was driving on the road with two by fours on top
of my truck and one came loose and went through your windshield. I think I might be liable. I
think it kind of, you think it falls in the same thing. I really think, I really think they put
those signs on just so you feel like they're not responsible and you won't call it in.
Well, maybe I won't disagree with you. I think that's the case probably too. So if that in theory
kind of lines up, right, you think that the pothole theory should line up a little bit like,
and I guess my issue with it is, and it's probably with all of you guys, I'm probably not the only
one. I've already paid for those roads to be like, to be safe. Like you take the tax money,
take care of the roads and, and I'm not talking about, look, it's not like you're nitpicking,
but there, like I said, there are certain roads that I drive down. The pothole has been there
forever and it gets worse and worse and worse. And I drive a truck. So I can tell you right now,
if I feel the pothole in my truck, I don't imagine what you guys feel in a passenger car,
or you're, you're Mustang with low profile, like a tire racing tire on it. There's no cushion
between you and the rim. I told you guys, I had to take the Camry in twice now, two different
times now, one to have the tire, the wheels rebalanced and another time to have a rim fixed
all because of potholes. Like I think a frustrating situation too is when they do pave it and you
can tell they kind of use cheaper materials to pave the road and then you fall in that same problem
like a year later, even though we just got our brand new road paved. Right. Well, so I think he's
talking about, okay, so there's our, there's a stretch road. I won't say what it is. There's a
stretch roads out here by us that it got repaved completely. And within a month, the road was
falling apart already. It's bad now again. So it's only been like, let me say cam about two years
since they came back to no, I don't know if you can blame it. I don't know if you blame like
materials or just, you know, rushing of work. I mean, like we've all seen the movie cars where
he's pulling that machine and he knows he does a rush job and it's all squirrely. Why are you
referenced a cartoon? That was a good cartoon. I did get the date, by the way. It is Saturday,
October 11th. I knew it was 11am to 4pm. I just had to access my calendar.
See, I pulled that right on October 11th. I figured that was new. I want to make sure.
And that once again, out of Pungo Aviation Museum. Yep, the Military Aviation Museum
that's right off of Princess Anne Road. The exact address is 1341,
Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23457, 11am to 4pm. We're going to be there.
Be there as well. There you go. So it's out there. Now, I'll keep on reminding you guys
that we get closer to October, but I think it's a great event. I think it's cool. It's all for
charity. So make sure you guys get signed up. Well, it doesn't like cars, planes and drinks.
Yeah, it's got it all. Anyway, we got that back. So if you like, if you're going down like,
my understanding when it comes to roads, right, is it goes to the lowest bidder and maybe that's
the reason why. Now, I understand that theory, but I'll give you a comparison. I think we talked
about this over a year ago. So probably I think when that road was actually being paved. There's
two roads out by me out in the middle of nowhere. They got paved almost the same time. One is held
up and it's really smooth. There's no problems with it. It's not falling apart and it's nice to
drive down. You go over maybe a mile to a road that runs parallel and those roads pretty much
run parallel to each other. And that's the one that's falling apart. Then I found out they're
done by two different companies. One was paid by one company, one was paid by different companies.
You know, they are paving them almost at the exact same time. And then I go, okay, so it's just,
it's craftsmanship, right? So quality. I mean, what's I'm saying? Is it craftsmanship or is it,
you know, material? I mean, I'm not really sure how, you know, that road stuff works.
I mean, no, I mean, guess so. But like, you know how like, you know,
I'm thinking like, you know, like concrete wise, like where you like, you know,
there's different mixtures you can have, you know, consistency wise.
Wasn't one road done like in one week to they even had like stop halfway and then do the rest.
And then there was the other road that's fallen apart was like done in one night.
No, I'm a little longer. But like whoever did the stripe job, by the way,
because there's a there's a stripe. Literally, you literally, you know,
yeah, there was like a tree branch in the way. And somebody was like,
they put the Oprah card. That is not my job.
But I know exactly literally the stripe goes down and it weaves around and I went,
it must have been roadkill there. That's what I say every time I go by there. I'm like,
branch, I'm like, there's a roadkill out by us. And I was like, oh,
there must have been roadkill there. And nobody wanted to move. It's a, you know,
it'd been worse if it was just a piece. There's like a long and there's like,
a missing piece in the line. Then you definitely would have known it was a roadkill. You're like,
I literally does make the loopy loop though, where it's just like, no, it doesn't wait.
You're like, okay. So here's another thing when they pave roads and stuff, right?
When they're fixing the roads and you ever see where like the paint is splatter or someone's
drove through it and like has drug it into like, into like another lane. I'm like,
how do they, did they not wait for it to dry? They not put up the right cones or somebody
weave over the cone and drive through it and drag it. I know a lot of that paint actually drives
pretty quickly too, by the way. So then I really wonder how did that happen? I'm like,
how did that happen? But I don't know. I still think that if I'm paying for the roads to be,
and I don't mean me myself. I mean, all of us collectively through our taxes,
like we should make sure the roads are fixed. Let's just say if you're doing it just as is,
you might as well do it right, right? Not just like from a paint aspect, just like if you're
getting the job done, let me tell you how silly it is. There's, there's, hold on. Let me tell you,
there's a stretch of road. Once again, I'm not trying to name out any cities, but there's another
stretch of road I take that I kid you not every other week, they're out there patching potholes
with a little stamp. They're pouring it in and they're stamping it down with their little stamp.
And I'm like, guys, I've watched you in a year patch that same pothole like nine times, like
nine times I've seen that I'm talking, I'm not making this up the same hole. It just keeps on
pulling back out of the hole. Something here is not working. I saw this machine that I thought was
really neat. I think we, we highlight the machine years ago, but it's all on a truck and it pulls
up and it has a saw and it cuts a square where the potholes that literally out. It pulls out the
material. It lays down like some material down in it and then it puts the asphalt and it, it
paves it smooth as can be. And it's all on a truck and I went, every city should have one of those.
I don't know what the name of the truck is. I don't know who makes it. Somebody just sent me the,
the, a video of it, like an immediate package of the same. And I was like, that's what every city
needs. Like there wasn't like seven guys standing around looking at a whole, you know, one guy
working while the rest of them are holding a shovel. Sorry. I just, what I see, I'm only calling
as I see, I'm not saying everybody does that. I'm just calling it like I see, but it was just
this truck and it backed up and it did all the work and it kind of laid it down. I was just like,
why doesn't every city go buy like 20 of those, those trucks instantly.
Cause like you just said, send those guys will have a job.
I think it was Florida. There was, it was probably about a year and a half ago when an
article and a photo came out. I really truly want to say it was Florida or Texas, one of the big
cities. And, and one night they were able to rip the whole road up. They were able to repaid the
road and then like relay it with all the things. And they had like, like you said, they had 20
trucks all lined up right behind them. They had all the machines. I was like, why don't we just
do that? We can hire multiple companies to work together and repave everything. I mean, I watched
them do, there's a, there's a road in Vegas called Washington. And I used to have to walk down that
road to go to school when I was a kid. And on my way to school, they were tearing the road completely
up. And I'm talking a long stretch road, not to the little area, long stretch. They had like 20
trucks in a row, same thing you're talking about. And they were tearing it up. One was the material
was going up and going up in the truck. And then they were taking it and they, and they used to
put a membrane and somebody will tell me what it's called, but it was like, it reminds me of
like a yoga mat. It was thick. It was on a roll and it was on a big roll and they were rolling it
out, dropping it down. And they were putting some gravel over the top of it. When I got out of school,
they were all gone. Road was paved. Like nobody was there. Like nobody had ever been there from the
time I went to school in the morning to the time I got out of school. And I was just like,
now that even as a kid, I was like, that's efficient. I mean, like, I couldn't believe it.
There was no sign. There was a brand new road. I mean, it had lines, everything. I was just like,
wow, we're still working on, I'm going to name the road. We're still working on witch duck. I mean,
I remember they were working on witch duck when I was a kid.
Who's in charge of that project? If you guys got an interesting road project, or you know,
is the city really responsible for the potholes? If it does damage to your car? I'm curious.
I thought it was back in the day. You guys might have the answer. Send it to me in the email.
I'm curious. I got to take quick works to break. When I come back, I got some more for you guys.
Hold tight. We'll be right back.

Welcome back to Let's Talk Cars Radio, your automotive specialist. Now back to your host, Dave
Palach. Hey guys, welcome back. Hey, so here's a question for you. I tell you, I get weird questions
sent to me. I guess say this maybe counts as a hey, Dave, maybe, because somebody asked it to me and
I was like, you know, I don't know. And then we got talking about it. You know, and what I'm talking
about is, so if you look at the prices of some cars, right, it makes me ask, who's buying these
things? Like, and Nathania and I were just talking about because we saw the 2026 Corvette
fully loaded. What is the ZR1 is like the price tag on it now is like going to be like
226 or something like that. And both of us like almost at the same time, we're like, who's buying
that? That's when we should like, and we should import the sound like explosions, when your head's
exploding. 200,000 dollars. Who's buying that? And you know what you can get, right? You know what
you can get for 200,000? Right. Right. I mean, it's a fast car. Now, I think you're getting your past
supercar. I think they're saying like, now you're in hypercar mode. Right. But do I think that
it looks really, I don't think it looks that great. I don't think it's 226 grade. Yeah. I'm
right there with you. I'm sorry. And guys, just so you know, I mean, like, I'm a muscle car guy,
I love all cars doing wrong. I don't think it's an ugly car. I think I still think it's a cool car.
I just, who, who's buying it? Like, and what did I mean by cameras like I am? I mean, what I mean
by that was the conversation for Nathania and I and Cameron spiraled into when cars were more aligned
and what I mean by that is, okay, so Mustang GT, right? So you buy Mustang GT nowadays,
what, 59,000? 60 years, $60,000 is Mustang GT.
And you buy a Cobra for what, 80? Probably eight, probably 80,000.
Maybe somewhere in there. And then you have the top of the line where they call that the
dark horse for what, I think like 105. No, no, no, no, you can get like, I've seen a dark,
you can get a fully loaded dark horse for somewhere like 88. I think it's what it is,
maybe. And I think the Cobra is supposed to be better than the dark horse anyway. But either
the way around, I don't know. I don't keep up. I just like, I think they're cool. I don't keep up
with which one's better than the other one. And I know there's what a GT 500 probably still out
there running. If they're making that model year this year, I don't know if they are not.
I was still waiting for the Mach 1 to come. It never came. I've waited forever.
Okay. A dark horse by 80 grand. Okay, right. So, and is there a GT 500 for this year?
No, there's not. No. All right. So what I mean by who's buying these things is, okay,
so let's just say you're 80 grand for the top of the line, right? For the premium of what there is.
Right. How is the premium Corvette 225? Like, and everybody goes, well, it just is. And I go,
but it didn't used to be. And as I went, I started looking at things, there used to be about a 12
to $14,000 difference between jumping from a Mustang into a Corvette. Now, keep in mind,
I understand base model, base model Corvette. But still, it was only like a 12, like you're like,
okay, I can have a Mustang or I can have a Corvette. I only got to spend another 12 grand.
We're nowhere in those gaps between the two anymore. We're 80 grand, 88,000, whatever it is.
You can buy two Mustangs. For a great Mustang. And still have some leftover. 100% to,
you know, your 125 until, you know, the, what the basic, essentially,
Corvette, by the time everything's said and done, we're, you're not the gap keeps on getting
farther and farther and farther. It makes me ask, like, do you not value money? I like money.
I like it a lot. I hope you do too. But I can't justify the gap differences. And even, even,
even. But it's a Corvette. I knew you were going to say that. Even if it's endless money.
And there's a lot of y'all that listen to this show that apparently have the endless money,
which is great for you. I run into you guys. I'm friends with some of you guys. You guys don't
care. You guys are dry. I, you know, I got friends that drive around $500,000 cars and they drive
them. You know what I mean? Well, cars meant to be driven. It is. You don't have friends like that.
I'm like, I do. I have friends that have very nice hypercars that have modified the hell out of them.
They paid $200,000 for their car. And they probably have, you know, what $70,000 of the wheels and
tires on it. And they got another $100,000 of modifications on the motor. So yes,
you, it starts getting very expensive. So you can get into a stingray for $68,000.
Okay. Okay. And then you can get into, say you want the Z06 for about $106,000. And then if you
want, you know, that's 2025, right? 2026. Okay. Yeah. But no, they're talking about.
Yeah. But the ZR one is what you're talking about, which is like the high performance package is,
you know, the cheapest is 112,000. Now, if you want all the packages and everything,
like the, you know, I think they call it the ZR one X was just starting at 207,000.
Right. Right. Right. So yeah, I was like, sign me up.
So Nathaniel goes, I thought it was funny. He goes, man, what's the car payment on that?
And I was like, I don't know, like six grand. Maybe I don't know.
No. Yes. It's got to be 200,000, 200,000, 7,000, 226,000.
Yeah. I think what you said was we like 3,500 a month. No, it's going to be like six grand.
I just, I said 200,000. You got to think about it. Because if you do a 10 year on it,
do 10 years at 227,000. Probably about a 9% interest rate.
Put in the computer. That's more realistic. 5% interest rate.
Right. 5% interest rate for 10 years. 27,000 by time you get outdoor attacks and everything,
maybe. I don't know. Probably more than that. I mean, it's probably like a $6,000 car payment.
It's got to be somewhere in that, in that neighborhood. And like, which makes me ask you,
who's buying that? Like, I love cars, but you know, for that kind of money,
how many really cool cars I think I could probably buy that I think are just as equally as cool.
Well, it's half a house. I mean, some people, that's a house.
Right. You're not just living it. Right. That's my point. Like what I just look,
could I go out and buy a really, really nice car? I think I already have some nice cars,
but could I go out and buy something brand new, really nice and spend over $100,000 on it? Sure,
I could. But I have no way. No way. $200,000. In 10 years.
Unless my calculator is broken. Your Put it in the car calculator app.
I got you. There's a car calculator app. There's no way. I'm just saying like,
I don't get it. And I don't understand like,
we're, maybe people's way of thinking about money is different than my way of thinking
about money when it comes to cars. Cause I go, okay, for 200, let's just even it out guys.
Let's 200 for $200,000. No down payment. I can buy three, maybe four,
what I believe are cool cars. They're going to be older muscle cars or whatever.
But now I got four cars for what I would have got one car for. And everybody goes,
yeah, but it won't be as fast. And I go, okay, give me two. I'll take some of that money,
put it in and make it just as fast as probably your car is.
Yeah. About 3000. Yeah. No way.
Yeah. It's about three grand for a $200,000 car. Yeah.
Yeah. No down payment. 10 years.
But still, I know how to do my math.
Three grand is a lot though. It's because you're doing it for 10 years also.
So you're spreading the payment across. I mean, and then again, it's 10 years.
By that 10 year mark, you're trying to get rid of it.
That's a 120 month payment right there.
A loan is going to be crazy for a $207,000 vehicle.
You're about at $110,000 in interest that you're paying.
So your actual purchase price is about 317,000 divided by 120 months about $2,935.
It's got to be more than that.
Well, Murray is 10 years and a lot of people aren't doing 10 year loans.
Now they are not people. Well, yeah, I know.
But the majority people, you're doing 10 years crazy.
People are longer than 10 years.
But you can do a 15 year loan on a house and have it paid off 5 more years.
Well, that's what I said. You're going to be living in it.
Oh, my God. Who's buying it? I just tell me who's buying this stuff.
Like, I understand. Like I said, there's people with that.
Not that Murray's is going to give you something.
Not the regular guys.
The guys that money makes sense to, I don't think are signing up for that.
Like, like I said, I could go buy something that's expensive and I could pay the car payment
and I'm sure like, but I'm not going to.
I can tell you it's not under their name. It's under the business name.
Look, absolutely.
You own a ZR one. Come on.
Cameron is like he's falling in love with Corvette.
Like he keeps talking about it.
And I said, OK, so let's just get some older ones and build some older ones
and make them fast because I could justify the money for that.
We just had the conversation about that where I would buy like an 0708 Corvette
and then I would sweep it all up and everything and I would be happy about it.
But that's literally what you're just getting is the badge for the ZR one.
Like we talked about, you know, a couple of shows ago about how, you know,
nowadays you don't get to choose the engine that comes with your car
unless you buy the higher package wise.
How did I start the conversation off today when I first saw you?
Hey, I saw a Corvette.
I know. He's like, I saw this Corvette had a really cool paint job on it.
I think the new Corvettes are cool.
You know, for what they are, I tend to like the one before this one more.
I just think it has a little more style.
Yeah, I just like the body styles of it.
I think I could probably put one of those together for about 60, 70 grand
and make it pretty quick and make it what I like out of it could be done.
That's more justifiable money to me.
Like I'm like, OK, so it's not the newest body style.
It's the one behind it, which I still think looks better.
60, 70 grand into it.
And it's just lightning fast.
It's still kind of cool.
Yeah, OK, I'm into it.
You know, it brings us back to a couple of episodes as well that we talked about.
You know, what you can really do with that type of money, right?
You know, for $200,000, you know, you could buy a couple cars.
But you could make it.
You know, you could buy a couple of different cars, build a dream cars,
and still kind of, you know, get somewhat of that same power.
100% I agree with you.
You're right.
I guess that's why I told you to spend your money.
You want to own a ZR1.
We're adding it to the collection one year, OK?
It might be five, 10 years from now.
But I don't think I could pull.
Look, I don't think I could pull the trigger.
And look, do you think the price is ever going to go down, though?
100%
What do you think?
Or do you think it's going to retain that price?
It always does.
So that's the thing, right?
When you buy exotic cars like that, I mean, we once again,
I hate when we bring this up again.
But, you know, a couple of episodes, we talked about how, you know,
some of these unique cars that were, you know, selling for over $100,000
that you can get them for almost $20,000 now,
because nobody really cares about those cars anymore.
Considering that, you know, five, 10 years later,
there's something way better out there.
Did I send you?
I told you, you guys know, we talk about my deep dives
in the middle of the night into cars.
Did I send you the ad, the guy that's selling the Lotus?
He's selling like a 2000 Lotus Esprit.
It's got a blown up motor in it.
I think he, as far as I'm concerned, he wants too much for it.
But I saw it and I already had a body kit on and stuff like that.
I was like, ooh, we can buy an LS.
Yeah, but.
You know what I mean?
I'm like, and it still has the look I like,
because I'm stuck in that here.
Because we got some Lotus.
We got some Lotus fans.
You know, we got some Lotus people that we go to the car show and talk to.
100%.
I just, I've never fallen in love with the Lotuses.
I think it's my generation.
I just think it's cool looking car.
I like how they look.
They body kit them and they put the right wheels on them.
I'm really in love with them.
I like how they look, but I just heard that they're just not a fun car to drive.
Well, it's like what we have.
You know what?
I must say it's not like the other conversation we had about Lamborghini,
but I can see where that could would be the case too,
but still cool looking car.
I don't know for my generation.
I don't know.
Email me if I'm wrong.
Tell me what you guys think.
I got to take another quick commercial break when we come back.

Welcome back to Let's Talk Cars Radio.
Your automotive specialist.
Now back to your host, Dave Palach.
Welcome back.
All right, so here's a topic that rolled through the media this week and got sent to me.
And it is the, I think it's a little late this year as far as I'm concerned, but I get it.
The official road trip like list of songs.
So every year there's the new list that comes out.
The funny thing about it is road trip songs usually ends up still being some of the same
songs really.
I think like, I went back and I looked at some of the notes for some of the years that we've had
and they're making a list over and over again.
Some of our old songs, 15, 20 year old songs, which is amazing to me that some of these songs
still stay on the list.
Like new songs tend to, they're there and people like them, but they don't seem to always make the
list.
Everybody refers back to the old songs.
And it's, if you're going down the highway and you wanted a playlist and now it's easier.
Like I told you guys, like we were talking, you know, I had so many CDs that it was insane.
I had the triple fold out book.
I remember.
Forever, you remember forever pages of stuff to listen to because that's just how it was
done back then.
We didn't have, you know, an iPad or what was a iPod was like the first one that came out.
iPod nano.
It's funny that this came up as a topic today because I literally just watched a short reel
where it was like back in the 2000s, how you skipped a song and a guy has to like open up
his sun visor, all the CDs fall out and then he grabs a CD book.
He's flipping through it.
He hits it.
He puts in another disc.
It doesn't work.
He takes it out.
He has to do the magical lick, you know, put it back in the magical lick.
And then we'll talk about some disgusting, but you gotta do it.
And then it works.
And then it's like today, he doesn't like the song.
You just click.
So I had the worst feelings when your eject button doesn't work anymore and you're stuck
with that one.
Well, yeah, that happened tape, eight track CDs, everything back then.
And you don't see it.
And we talked about a couple of shows ago, technology and cars that you don't see now,
but it was popular back then.
Back then you could put 56 different CDs in a same CD player.
Remember, it was like a six, a six deck.
Well, you did.
Like you had one in your dash and then your car has it.
You can put a trick player in the back of the trunk.
Right.
Your car has your model has.
I think it was right before they get started getting rid of that a lot of cars.
Right.
I just took it out.
It's not serious.
It was in certain generations.
You guys remember this.
I had the CD.
You got to remember the CD cleaner.
I know you.
I don't remember.
Oh, I do.
I do remember the CD.
Do you get a scratch?
And you gotta put it in a machine, put it in a machine.
And then you put it in the machine and yeah.
So I had that in my car because you had to have it like I was electronic.
Like they had a push button one.
But my was you put a little cream on it.
Look, you're supposed to put like a dot top and a dot on the bottom.
You close the lid.
You hit the button and it turned on with batteries and would work.
And it was supposed to clean it.
Or some of them was.
Sometimes it worked.
And sometimes it wasn't working right.
And we were like, oh, use toothpaste.
And I'm like, no, man.
I'm like, what?
We remember that not because our generation used like we did.
You had all that old stuff.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We used it for games for games.
Yeah.
Like PlayStation 2s, PlayStation 3s.
You got to do that back then.
Now you don't know.
You know what?
I remember buying you guys one, another one.
I had one of them.
I've been buying you guys one for like those for the.
You guys were young.
Like five or six years old.
You guys had that.
Yeah, that was a long time ago.
But Sonic the head coach, man.
It's easy, right?
To have all your playlist.
Like I said, I have like seriously 5000 songs on an iPad
that I don't even really use anymore.
But all those songs are on that iPad and because I like music.
So I find it funny when I go back through all the lists
and the playlist for road trip.
And it's the same song.
So give you an instance, right?
One of the songs that was on it
was Mr. Blue Sky is a song.
I think everybody knows that song, right?
Was it Electric Light Orchestra or something like that?
Sings that song?
Yeah, I think it is.
Yeah, I put it on the album cover.
Yes, but you know, everybody knows that song.
It's on the list for 2025's list.
It makes it.
And that's not like that song's new or anything.
It's just, it's on the list.
I went, yeah, okay, I can see how that's on the list.
Now some songs got on the list.
I'm like, I don't know how that one got on the list.
But a lot of the songs that make sense,
they're on the list like Little Deuce Coop.
Little Deuce Coop is old.
I mean, but it's still on the list.
It's on the list of songs to play
while you're riding down the road.
And I go, wow, I can't believe that song still in 2025
still makes the list.
And some songs you might not know the title,
but you know the song.
Right, right.
Yeah, I know, we're going to some of them.
Yeah, we're like, man, what song is that?
We're like, oh, wait a minute.
Yeah, I know that one.
Every time.
I'm really good with music, remembering and stuff like that.
But a lot of times I'll, if I see like an album cover
or something like that, I'm like, man, I don't remember.
I do not remember that.
And as soon as the songs are played,
you start singing along and go, oh yeah, I remember that.
One of the ones that I had that was on there was
The Thousand Miles.
I could not remember that.
I couldn't remember that song.
I told you, I was a mile.
I love the movie Blanchix when Terry Cruz is in the car
and he's singing along with it.
But that's how I remember that song.
I didn't remember when I saw the title of it.
I'm like, what is that song?
But then as soon as I was like, oh, Terry Cruz is singing that song.
I remember that song.
I remember it.
But and that happens to me.
But once again, I could understand why that's on the list.
You said that song and you were like, who makes that song?
I'm like, you remember the girl at the piano?
I'm like, that's our travel song from my friend group.
I'm like, I have a whole video of my friend group singing that song.
Here's another one that comes out of the blast.
Mustang Sally, still on the list in 2025.
Mustang Sally still makes the list.
That's amazing to me.
Because they're timeless as far as, I don't even know.
They're not timeless as far as like,
you could tell when that song came out, by the way, it's played.
But I mean, it's just.
I'd say it takes you back to that time period.
So many songs you listen.
Every song goes that way.
Well, yeah, yeah.
I'm about to say, when you hear a certain song,
and you're like, it was definitely made in a good way,
not a bad way, but more like, it just kind of brings you back
to those times that you know.
100%, like, as I went through the list, like, okay, so.
Life is a highway.
There's no one.
That was a good one, too.
I would say that one, too.
It's in all the movies.
Life was a highway.
It was, that was in one of the cars movie.
It was, yeah.
It's in the cars movie.
Cars won.
Okay.
Yep.
It's a.
Which is kind of funny because.
He's driving down, driving down the freeway.
With Sally.
Yeah, with Sally.
Life is a highway.
Yeah, okay, okay.
I believe, I've seen the movie, but it's like,
I remember every scene, the parent,
they remember it more than I do.
Dude, that was a great movie.
It's an iconic, iconic movie.
Here's one that will have controversy on it,
and I just ran into this the other day.
I'm not getting into it because the singer,
somebody decided they want to post some stuff,
but Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen.
Right.
Everybody's like, oh, forget him.
I'm like, okay, forget all the nonsense on that.
Just recognize a song for what it is.
It's a great song.
Like, I.
That'll go away and people still just love the song.
Right, 100%.
Right, and people still love the song for what it is.
Here's one that was shocking to two of us by the Beatles.
Okay, so two of us by the Beatles.
I thought they could have picked a way better Beatles song,
but it's okay.
I get it.
Like, I get it for what it was.
Like, you know what I'm saying?
Like, right.
If you listen to the song, I get it for,
I'm like, okay, I'm like, yeah, okay.
I get how that made the list.
You're right.
100% better Beatles song as far as I'm concerned.
I mean, you could have put the yellow submarine in there.
You could have, but I get it how it is.
Here's one little different generation.
Missy Elliott, right?
So Missy Elliott, work it.
That made the list.
And I went, yeah, you got to cover for that one.
Like I said, I 100%, I got it.
And I understood why that's on the list.
Because if you're driving down the road
and you've been driving for a long time
and you hit that song, you just kind of get that vibe on it.
I have no idea what it was she says
and that flipping in whatever it is.
I never, but everybody says it
and says it differently in that song.
And if you know the song, you know what I'm talking about.
And I made, I told them, I said, what is it?
She says, I've never known what it is she says in German.
And he says, I think she's saying German, which is,
okay, which is the meaning.
I can't be completely wrong.
Back then they used to do that.
Remember they used to add in different languages
into some of the songs and everything.
And then go from like one language back to English
and then back to the other language.
And it was trying to get it out
to like the bigger population of different countries and stuff.
And I think that's how artists were reaching the other countries
and making their songs.
So they wanted to be mainstream.
Right, right.
They wanted to be mainstream, exactly.
Another one that I saw that made the list
I thought was kind of cool
was sending me on my way by Russet Roots.
That was a good one too.
That was a good one too.
I got why that song made the list.
Like I'm like, it's not, some of this stuff
isn't like hugely mainstream, like for a lot of different generations.
It's not mainstream now.
But I get like, I'm like, okay, yep.
I can put that on.
I can go down the road and be like,
and you start singing along with that song.
You just, and I think a lot of the stuff
is stuff that you would find yourself singing along to
that you wouldn't even realize it.
Now, granted, I get it.
Cause some people, there's all different generations
listening to this show.
So I get it.
And you're like, I would never play that song.
You're right.
You probably wouldn't.
But there's a lot of people who would.
One of the ones that I know there's people
listening to the show that would never in a million years
turn on and start singing along to,
or would you probably even know the song is still tippin?
If you don't know the song,
the song is out.
Look it up.
It's, it's, it's a, it's a rap song.
I guess maybe it probably falls into R and B like rap.
Okay.
Like tippin on full full.
Was it?
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I remember that song.
Like it played a lot when it first came out.
It's not generational by any means.
You know what I mean?
It's, this is going to be a certain, but I,
it took for one group and it's kind of stuck.
Right.
I got, you, you get why it's on, right?
Like I, I get why it made the list.
I'm like, okay, that's for obviously a different generation.
I get, I get why it is.
But if you go to dry by the cars, I'd be like,
that's a good one.
Yeah.
You get, I get why that song is on the list as well.
Now I think that's a little bit more generational.
Like, yeah, there's, but like you guys know that song.
I know that song.
You know, your kids are going to know that song.
So I get it.
I got a lot of more around this list.
I got to take another quick commercial break is going by quickly.
But while I'm at commercial break,
try to take a guess of the next ones because some of them are,
they're just, I don't know.
Out there.
You tell me what you think.
Yeah, they're out there.
All right.
I'll be right back.

Welcome back to Let's Talk Cars Radio, your automotive specialist.
Now, back to your host, Dave Palach.
Hey guys, welcome back.
Hey, if you missed the last segment we were talking about,
songs that made the 2025 road trip or playlist,
or however you want to play it in your car list,
whatever you want to call it.
And it's funny.
So here's one that we all disagreed on.
But once again, I think I understand why I made the list.
You remember the song, Gasolina?
You remember that song?
Gasolina.
Gasolina, yep.
You know the song.
I know the lyrics when you guys were playing it.
But like you said, I didn't recognize the album cover.
I got the album cover put up right here.
But yeah, I didn't recognize it until you guys played it.
And I was like, yeah, I do know that song.
But I wouldn't think it would be on my list.
So you go from that, right?
So you literally go from that song to you go to like,
okay, so another thing.
Cruisin' by Smokey Robinson.
Good song.
Good song.
Does everybody like that song?
Maybe not.
I don't know.
I get why it's on the list though.
Like you can listen to it.
It's catchy.
It plays along.
It's one of those songs.
But if you jump to something that is more catchy,
it kind of goes like instantly.
And as soon as it comes out and you start singing along with it,
here I go again by White Snake.
Like your-
That one, and I recognize that album cover.
So right when I, because I was looking up all the album covers,
I do recognize that album cover and it is a good song.
If you're on Facebook, you guys do see the album covers.
Yeah, he's got some of the album.
He doesn't have all of them.
He's got some of them popped up.
So like I said, I get why that song made it.
Because like I said, as soon as it comes on,
okay, so I got tons of them here.
Tracy Chapman, Fast Cars.
Good song too.
Yeah, good song too.
You start singing along to it.
You're gonna sing along to that song.
I think when Luke Holmes did a Recon Run,
he made another one that caught Fast Cars too.
On my playlist, I have both,
I have the Chapman version and I have Luke Holmes version of both.
And sometimes it's funny because I have random,
you know, select to play random, right?
And they come back to back with two different views.
And I don't even, I don't even hit the button.
I just let him play.
I'm like, oh, let's listen to his version of it.
You know what I mean?
One that always hits the list guys,
which is crazy is Radar Love.
All that song is, since we start doing this, what,
12, 13 years ago, that song every single year has hit the list.
And I kind of get it.
I don't think it's one of my favorite top songs by any means,
but I get it.
Another one that popped up that I would have never thought,
but then I realized that why it's on there.
Summertime.
You guys remember that song?
Summer, summer, summertime.
Summertime was a good one too.
I don't see you very well, it's okay.
I spent all that singing money.
But I had you add, after we did Summertime
and we started listening to it, I was like,
you got to add Paradise City.
I was like, Paradise City was a good one too.
Right, 100%.
It's, I have so many here that made the list for 2020.
Obviously I won't be able to get them all.
Beastie Boys 409.
Yeah, Beastie Boys was on the list.
Another one was Take It Easy by the Eagles, 100%.
Like, rolling down the road trying to loosen my load.
I mean, as soon as that comes, like, yep, that's right, I hit it.
One was Every Little Step.
Bobby Brown.
Bobby Brown, Every Little Step.
For that one, that one was a good one too.
Yeah, yeah, no, no, right.
Yep, once again, I spent that money.
Hold on, so here was one that I did not remember until,
but Rihanna, Shut Up and Drive.
Right, yeah, but see, once again, you don't really remember it,
but once you hear it, you're like, yeah, you know,
that was definitely a 2000s era moment.
Right, and I understand why it hit the list.
I'm like, okay, I understand why it's on the list.
And when you guys were talking about that,
and I know it's not on anybody's list,
but one song I started thinking of
was Please Don't Stop That Music.
Yeah, that, Please Don't Stop That Music.
I took singing lessons too.
One year, of course.
I was thinking of that song too,
when you guys mentioned Rihanna.
Here's one that's always on the list.
And like I said, probably a lot of people are not their favorite,
but I get Willie Nelson on the road again.
That song seems to make the list all the time.
All the time, road again?
Yeah, you're right.
It's like a slower song.
I remember, I was in like, I don't know, second grade,
and someone sung that in the talent show.
Like, and I-
Did he nail it?
No, probably not.
But to be fair, I don't think I completely nailed my,
I did the two, but I did-
There was applause at the end, if that's what you mean.
Right, I did a Kenny Rogers song, same talent show,
and I probably didn't nail my version of Kenny Rogers either,
but I will forever remember that song from that.
And I still think it's a song that jumps generations,
and it's still a cool song.
Another one that you mentioned, and you were like,
what's that one?
And now it was Take Me Home.
Take Me Home Country Roads, and I immediately was like,
Take Me Home, you know?
All right, well here's one.
So that one was kind of like,
that one I do believe is going to be generational as well,
where it will be in your generation, it's in mine,
and it will probably go to my next generation.
So here's a song that every time I'm someplace,
and it pops on, and it made the list,
let it whip.
Do you guys remember that song?
If you don't play it, and as soon as it plays,
you'll start singing along with it.
I literally saw on the list and went right over it,
and it had to come back, I went, wait a minute,
let it whip, do I know that song?
I think I know that song.
And as soon as I clicked on it to play it on the player,
I went, oh God, how did I not-
I always thought the name of the song was like, whip it.
Like, and I don't know why-
I got the album covered for that one too.
And I think I get those, I think I get a song confused
with another song.
Well I think it's because some-
Because I think it's whip it, whip it good.
I think so I get those two songs-
Like I said, some songs, the names don't really stick with,
don't have to do with what the song is about.
And then other ones, they use the title,
and it's in the song all the time.
So it's easier to probably remember.
So I'll give you one that I was surprised made the list,
but I get it because maybe it's just,
it's going to be generational to me,
and maybe just outside my generation too,
is Ella Cool J.
Okay, you know-
Karen DePride isn't a Jedi.
No, that's Callie.
That made the list.
Going back to Callie, Callie.
No?
I have to listen to it.
Maybe it's just me.
Yep, I have to listen-
I don't think so.
Your generation.
I know who Ella Cool J is.
Yeah, that song, it made the list.
I know who Ella Cool J is, but I don't remember that song.
I would have never thought that song would make the list,
because it's probably not everybody's favorite song,
by any means, but as soon as that song came on,
I was like, style, profile.
You know, I knew, I remembered all the words from it,
and I was just like, oh yeah, okay.
Now I know why the song made the list.
But as I first saw in the title, I was like, I don't know.
And then of course, I clicked on a bunch of them,
played them just so I can kind of like refresh,
or maybe get in the moment, and I went,
okay, yeah, now I know how the song is.
Another one that hit me on that was Little Red Corvette.
Yeah, it's a good song.
That's a good one too.
Even though that song has nothing to do with a Corvette,
I get it.
Like, I know, you will sing along with that song.
So-
Did you mention Summer of 69?
I hadn't yet, but-
That's another one.
That's another song, right?
Right when you said Little Red Corvette,
I'm like, Summer of 69, you know, that was a good one too.
What about American Pie?
My American Pie.
That song made the list.
I get it.
Because there's no way you're driving down the road
and you're not going to start singing that song.
If you can, I'm shocked.
Because there's just no way that song comes down.
You can't just start kind of weaving along
and just kind of sing along.
I remember that song.
I mean, everybody was playing that song,
even not on car roads.
But man, that song was playing in Vegas when we were kids.
You remember, they had it on the big screen,
and there was live person playing it.
100%.
That song brings back more memories than it does anything.
How about 409?
Older song.
That song.
I still hear it.
It's like every time I go to a car show, that song plays.
And I watch, I tend to watch when I'm at car shows,
and if there's a DJ out there and he's playing music,
I listen to what he plays.
And then I like to watch the crowd and see how they react.
And I watch people sing along to that song.
And it's all different generations
singing along to that song.
So I get how that song makes that list.
There was another one that was on there, the Danger Zone.
I've never been a Danger Zone fan, OK?
I get it.
Top Gun song, very popular, whatever.
But it does get you adrenaline pumping.
I can see how they can make you probably get a speeding ticket
if you listen to that song.
And that's why they pick that song.
If you ever go, there's an article that came out about it,
the songs picked for Top Gun.
And they picked that song because it got you kind of in that.
Right, especially when the jazz is flying around.
There's a song that's out there.
I cannot remember the name of it.
One of these days, I have looked and searched for it.
I can't find it.
I think it's Nine Inch Nails.
And it's a song that, it's either Nine Inch Nails
or it's Rage Against the Machines.
One of the two, if you listen to that type of music.
And it is a song you can't drive to.
If you drive to that song, you may very well find yourself
going 130 down the freeway.
You don't realize how you got that fast.
I mean, I remember as a young man, I remember the song playing.
I've looked for it.
I just cannot get it in my memory right.
The lyrics to it, to find it on Google.
I have spent some deep dives playing around,
just playing songs, trying to find it.
And I can't find it.
But I can sell you.
Well, that's like.
I think it was one of those two bands,
and it used to come on.
It used to play.
And I would literally look down and go, oh,
and I had to pull out a thread.
And like, something about that song just made me start.
Like, before I knew it, I was just speeding down the freeway.
You know what I mean?
I'm like, oh, I can't find this song.
You just started now using, what was it,
a couple of months ago, you would,
you would always ask if we knew the song.
And now you're starting to use AI, like Jack GPT.
Yeah, yeah, that's a question.
And he's like, I remember this one lyric,
and it's like this harmony.
And it's like, are you referencing this song?
He's like, there's a song!
So here was one.
I can't.
Is it Iggy Pop or Icon Pop or whatever?
We were trying to figure out.
I can't remember who it was.
He sings it.
Yeah, Icon of Pop.
I love it.
Like, I love it.
Like, I can understand how that song gets you
to start bobbing on down the road.
You know what I mean?
Like I said, once again, it may not be for everybody,
but it made the list.
And I was like, I get how.
That's the one that's like, I drove my car off a bridge.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's all I remember.
I know we could never be able to pull that lyric out
until you got it.
But all I remember is like the chorus line.
That's it.
But I can see how people would be like, oh yeah,
that song's kind of cool.
If you guys have anything, there's a bunch on this list.
I just don't have enough time to go through them guys.
But hey, if some of the ones you guys liked it,
that we talked about, add it to your guys' playlist.
And then send me some too, maybe.
And at some point in time, maybe I'll put a whole show
together about the top 50 or something
like we did before.
We've done it years ago before.
But it's interesting to know that some of these songs,
all these years later, are still on your playlist.
Pretty cool.
Some of them are great songs.
They'll go down in time forever, long after I'm gone.
So I know, guys, I got to go ahead and get out of here.
It is the end of the show.
I can't believe it went so fast.
It is Saturday.
Enjoy your Sunday.
I could tell you guys, unplug, spend some time with your kids,
barbecue, hide their phones, whatever you got to do,
play a board game.
They'll love you for it later on if they don't love you for it now.
We got to go ahead and get out of here.
And I'll talk to you all soon.
About this episode
Hosts kick off with event and radio logistics, including “we will be out at SEMA. So, check us out in Vegas.” The conversation then turns to “High Prices & Highway Tunes,” starting with potholes and road-work quality—“I've watched you in a year patch that same pothole like nine times”—and how that damage can hit tires and rims. Afterward, they debate Corvette and Mustang pricing, financing math, and who would buy a ZR1. The back half shifts into road-trip music nostalgia and playlist talk.
