with you, Scotty? Today we drove all the way to
Franburn. We're running some errands for
for the wedding. This is going to happen on the
other side. We just had a look at the
wedding cake and flowers. So just dealing with all the all
the traffic and things, it just amazes me how much you start to focus when it's actually like fairly busy in the traffic and you just start tuning in and you're really looking to the sides and watching them if they're going to merge in front of you and stuff. You.
Know how they do? Yeah.
And you know how they talk about keeping that safe distance and how you kind of can't, because if I keep that safe distance, someone's going to come flying over and take that spot and then I have to slam on the brakes. But then you don't want to get
too close, so you're trying to keep this weird kind of distance between them. That's not enough for someone to
come flying over. But also that right amount where
I can hit the brakes not running too.
Yeah, absolutely. That in between.
And keep an eye out for white high ace vans.

Well, that van, that van was on the Monash the other day.

And he had hit 11 cars or 12 cars or something in the process of weaving in and out of traffic on the thing.

But like if that was America, they would have pit manoeuvred him and then he would have been long gone after about two seconds. Shot of Tomahawk missile from

believe it took him 70 hours to stop him.

And like, and they were doing like a news report and you just see him in the background of it and he just like, he just looks out of the window and he drove off and like, that was like before any of that happened. Yeah, yeah.

why can't they be stopped a lot earlier than that?
If he's, you know, he's gone on a rampage for seven hours, 70 hours on who knows what, you know, that's putting other people in danger. You what?
You'd kind of want to get that stopped, if you ask me.

well on the freeway, so they've moved over to the the far right.
There was one car, I didn't know how, can't picture how the hell it happened, but there was one car, BMW off on the on the side and it looked like it was hit on the front.
And then there was a car that was in the lane still in the far right lane with hazards on and it had front damage, no other cars. There was a tow truck there and
we had to move over to the left and they're all standing there and stuff. So I had to do it.
I put down the window and said you can't park there mate.
Got to do it. I have.
To do it, I have to do it. Everyone was fine, the damage
wasn't that bad. So, you know, hopefully they
knew the joke. Yeah, yeah.
Surely you know by now. Yeah, I'm sure, I'm sure.
I've got a boat I. Don't know why they didn't just
move it to the side of the road, though, but could easily push it to the side and get it off the freeway.
Well, that's what was going on. It was busy, busy, busy.

chugging away. That was nice.

Yeah, so I got a good run, and I do have a new poster as well that's connected to the advertisement of the R34 GDR, the Midnight Purple 2. So yeah, some of you might have
seen it in the past, but that's a lot safer now until I do get it. OK, exciting.
Yeah, so I've got that coming and a few little changes behind me. So the back there on the glass
cabinets, the top there is a little bit different for the keen eyed people. Everything else is the same, but
it was just. Is it like one of those spots of
difference things? Yeah.

I like what's different. Yeah, there's a 31 skyline
missing from the top. Second top Charles.
It's just it's not as full across the very top.
Yeah. On top of the cabinets, it's not
as full. You had some swords there at one

Yeah, they they hang up the top there now, but he has a few cars and there's some that I'm given away for going to rob that I just, it just doesn't fit my aesthetic of what I'm going for.

David Prince. I was on the podcast last week,
so I didn't get to talk about highball, so I probably missed that opportunity, but we but it was there, very true.
And we did have a good it was a good event.
I mean, it's it was the themed around the Big steel.
Then the funniest thing of all was that it sent me a screenshot. No, someone else sent it to me.
And then I sent it to you at the Nissan Cedric, which was one of the main characters from the Big Steel, which was for sale for three grand the following week. So and it was a green one too,
which was the one the same colour as the movie.
It wasn't. No movie was blue light.
Blue. OK, Yep, Yep.
But. You know you wouldn't argue if
you don't have argued. You'd be happy to have a Cedric
there. I reckon had that been out been
on sale the week before I'd reckon someone on this podcast might have just bought it. Well, I think if you're going to
have a big steel thing and the hero of the car is the Cedric and hero the film is the Cedric, Yeah, you kind of have to have a Cedric. I I sort of, I like their
enthusiasm, but I would have personally held off on that theme until I had a Cedric. Then you could have the Cedric
and the Jag. Yeah, in the two main criteria.
If you were being really picky, you could then say, well let's get a a burgundy Monaro coupe, a red Pintara sedan.
Probably the hardest car to find out of the.
Yeah. And a, a white Nissan Exa that
Joanna was going to be gifted, you know, on the on the front lawn. I thought, you know, if you had
those, those are the cars of that film.
Yeah. And maybe a bond wood caravan
with a high resin finish, you know?
We still have to do that movie night.

Absolutely. Other highlights of that were it
was for a modern car Mazda MX5 year old in an anniversary 35th anniversary edition, so a current model in burgundy with the tan interior and the number plate was Mazda Mazda.
So it ensued a a conversation. We, we just had to find out what
about the plate, But it was Mazda Australia and the guy that's taken over the sort of the, the public relations and the, and the historic sort of garage sort sort of thing said I found all these plates in a drawer at head office.
They weren't on anything. They were just allocated.
They've got Rotary ROTAR. Y.
And these plates that would be worth $1,000,000 to the right people. And yeah, it was.
So they, they thought that that was special enough that car to actually have those plates. So that's their press car.
And when it comes off to press fleet, it's going into their their heritage fleet. Yeah.
So that was good. Lovely to fight here of a
Japanese company embracing their history and their heritage.
Nice to see about that. I took the Grand Prix Civic
which was good it. Gave that a bit.
Of a run that's driving very sweetly at the moment, which is good had the exhaust fit. I think I mentioned the exhaust.
So it's got the dual the the dual pipes now, which fit the body kit much better. That was at the end one had a
lot of other card shenanigans, but I'll be covered a little bit later I think in the the updates.

Little bit bouncing. Hello car updates.
I've taken a deposit on the Triton that's just waiting on some finance to come through but the lady has emailed me today so lovely That looks like that will go Mazda 2.
I'm driving around and that's still I've had a few bites on it but no one's bought it yet but I'm sort of not too worried.
I quite like driving it It's it's a tough call between a Mazda 2 and a swift and A and a jazz.
They all do different things well and you know those, those little hatches, I think we said it last time, they really punch above their weight and for for very little money you can, you can just get into a great reliable car.
You know, there's there's no shortage of them around really.
There was one online I saw, you know this, this is mine's an O 9 Mazda 2 hatch, the one you see everywhere.
There's one online with 421,000 on the clock and I thought no one's going to bother rebuilding a motor in one of those.
So it's I dare say it's original because you're not restoring one sort of thing. It was for sale for like 3-6 or
three seven with a roadie and ready to go at a dealer.
And I just was like. At a dealer.
At a dealer. So look, it might have been
traded or maybe they paid $200 for, I don't know.
But you just think, no, they, I mean, I thought they were a good thing, but that that sort of proves that really are a good thing. What else can I tell you car
wise? The wasp, the bloody wasp.
So it's got a. Sting, isn't it?
It's got a nasty sting in its tail that car.
So that car had new rear shocks. As I mentioned numerical me and
I put new front shocks in it and ever since we put front shocks in the front springs were binding and we couldn't work out why. We tried in a few, the top hat
it has got 3 bolts. You can have it in sort of three
different positions. And we tried moving it around.
It still didn't make any difference.
And the thing with the springs were still binding on the struck towers. And it was, you know, basically
what it was doing is, you know, you drive, you turn left and the steering wheel would want to stay left.
You'd have to sort of wrench it back, right?
And it's going and it's, you know, it's grinding in there somewhere. Not good so.
I put it in to a mechanic that I use and said, look, it needs the trans fluid flushed, it needs the coolant flushed, it needs a new van belt on the front, It needs the front brake discs machine, it needs the right front drive shaft as per the list initially. And by the way, can you figure
out what the hell we've done wrong on this front suspension?
He looked at it over a couple of days and he he said it like, I'm baffled, like like I can't work it out.
You know, I'm like, I'm like, this is a magnet.
What the Hell's going on? This is not a, you know, a
Citroen with a de Deion suspension system or something.
You know, this is a fairly basic Australian car.
So he said I've done these before, I've never had this issue, you know, and I just, I was sort of at my wits end.
So I went to the forums, the Magnum Madness forum and I'll put a little post that said this is what's happening and this is the clincher I gave. I kept one of the front shocks
that had come out of the car just 'cause I thought I might just need that for reference. So I kept that and I gave that
to him and said look, this is the one that came out of the front left. Put that back in and see what it
does. And it was still binding on the
body. And he's like, I can't work it
out anyway. Magnum, Magnum Madness forum
yesterday I think it was. I put that on.
They came to the party and said there's a little hole in the top hat mount that needs to line up perfectly with a hole in the bottom strut mount. So if those two aren't aligned,
it will not be exactly right and it will bind.
So I sent him through those photos last night and he goes.

Once he lined that up and bang she, he said it's ready to go there. You go.
There you go. So.
Can't talk? Top tip.
Well, top tube #1 he said, He said, I've never, I've done these before on this, on Magnus, he said I've never had this problem. But he said I'm an impulsive
compulsive marker. He always marks where it was.
So it goes back exactly the same.
That's why he's never had that issue.
But I said, well, we've learned something, haven't we, Chris?
You know, like they're good. Good to know that they are very
specific. But none of the YouTube videos
sort of talk about that when you when you watch it, you know you.
Just pull it in and just put it back.
In yeah, evidently they're a bit sensitive to that.
Maybe. A lot of cars probably aren't
sensitive to that sort of positioning.

Of reorder different shocks or do something else.
Because you had me scared. I'm like, I know I ordered for
you. I ordered.
Yeah, you ordered them via the VIN, of course.
Yeah, yeah, absolutely. And it's a, it's a verada verada
KJ. And I was like.
Yeah, I'm picking that up tomorrow morning with basically everything has been done on that except the windscreen.
I will get fitted later and the rocket cover gasket is leaking at the back like they all do. But I'm going to do that with
Tommy because he's done it on his recently and that's something we can do. And I'll replace all the plugs
at the same time. And then that that sorts that
car mechanically that is done, dusted, roadworthy.
I'll put it into panel and get the back bar done shortly just so that that's you know. And then it's really it's I
think the other thing I was thinking with that car is I was going to drive it over to Magnifest on the trade plate, which I could still do. But what that means is you don't
get roadside assistance and the rulings, as we've said recently, I think on RACV Total Care are such that you can have two registered cars on your Total Care account and you can have up to 15 club plated cars, which suits me quite well because there's two registered cars. So I've got my Pajero, I've got
my Pajero being the car that I drive camping and towing caravan and stuff. So it's kind of good to have,
you know, Total Care on that and the mini, which I really don't use very much, but you know, you do kind of want because that's full register. So I sort of thought I might
just maybe I'll have to register this thing, just put three months worth on it just so I can have that Peace of Mind of having total care on it for that journey.
I think it's worth it. I think that's hard.
Because you know, you could. It'd ruin the whole thing.
You're stuck halfway to Adelaide, the thing blows up.
You can't get it towed like that, would be a real pain in the ass. Yeah, dealer plate insurance or
something there, Ed. No, I just get normal insurance
on it, but I'm allowed to drive them on the trade plate.
So you. Can you can.
Do that, but I don't have roadside with that.
There was more the roads. Yeah, it's not covered.
Yeah, yeah. I've got insurance on it.
But so I think I might end up roadwaying that and registering that sort of closer to Magna Fest date just so that you have that. Cover.
You'd always cancel it. You get your money back if you
cancel it. If someone needs to stay bought
that car or something you're like well, so so that's the wasp. Naughty, naughty stinky wasp.
What else? The bike still has a busted fuel
pump. I haven't done anything about
that. The Renault 16 I drove on the
weekend that I've been using that a bit lately.
My brother actually took it out today and said, oh, that car loves the Peninsula roads Ed and I'm like, I know it does.
I took it out Sunday morning for a Fang, So that's running well.
Still leaking a lot of oil but running well.
It's got oil. I checked the oil.
Yep, I sold the murky 350 that went to a kid.
It's his first car. And I was like, you are driving
a very nice first car. I know it's not worth a lot of
money. You know, it's like 8 1/2 grand
that car sold it for. But but that isn't that is a
lovely machine. It's a first car, my first car.
Well, I still have it. It's the mini with no heater, no
radio, you know, like nothing. And you're driving around an E
Class. It's it's full of kid.
I was just like these kids. They just, I don't really don't
really appreciate it, you know? I've been saying for years kids
are doing P plates wrong these days.
Like you gotta do. It's like, like, like me 500
five, $100 laser was, was, yeah. With my PP, Yeah, yeah.
I know, I know the Ford Focus that I bought the little hatch with 33,500 kilometres. That's gradually coming back to
life so but I've put some tyres on it.
I found a second hand front bum because it had a just a scrapey front bar. I found a second hand one in
white that's really good. So I just had that literally
swapped on same colour. That looks great.
What else have I done? I did have a check for
Roadworthy. It only needed front discs and
pads, which Mehdi ordered me. Thank you for that.
And wiper blades and all the tyres.
I've done that. Oh, and the power steering.
The power steering is not working.
It's incredibly heavy. You need really need 2 hands to
turn that round a corner. And it turns out it's quite
common on those focuses. It's on the pump.
There is a, you know, threaded switch that goes into the pump and it's got an electrical connector on the end that leaks.
And I you tubed it and apparently it's quite common.
And one of the Focus guys did a video on, yeah, you just replace that and boom in your whole power steering, top it up and it all comes back. You turn it to the left, turn it
to the rightfully a few times to get all the air out of the system and then you're good. So that thankfully is, is
doesn't need a rack or a whole steering rebuild.
It's, it's literally just a $23 switch from eBay.
So that's arriving next week. And then I'll put that in to get
the disc done and that done and register that and then that'll be kind of ready for sale pretty much.

service history, all at Hyundai. That'll be ready for sale soon,

bed on one of the days. That would have spun him right
out. Yeah, yeah.
He's like, I picked him up from the airport and he and he goes, I haven't seen this car in so long, you know, and it's exactly the same other than the wheels. And so we're driving along and
I'm like, and he goes, oh, that noise, that noise.
And then he had to drive, he had to drive down the peninsula.
And he's like, Oh, I remember this.
And he goes, I used to put my, my stereo in the back there on that shelf and listen to my tapes.
And he was having a good a good reminisce about the idiosyncrasies of the Tarago. Just wanted to say I've looked

with you, my friend. Hello, just been working on the
Magna a little bit here and there.
Chad. The Magna, What have I been
doing? I get a big old clean the other
day just to see where all of its imperfections and rough spots are. There's quite a bit on the
outside, but it doesn't really bother me too much as long as it, you know, some of the bits aren't roadworthy issues, but we'll cross that bridge one and get to it.
Just gave the the interior the boot and just like all the little, you know, cracks and whatnot in there around the boot lid and all that. So just a really good wash.
I don't think it's ever had a wash in its life.
Like there's just crumb built up for 30 plus years with just, you know, being parked outside and no love at all.
And I'm not sure I have to talk to Tom, but I, I have to, I'm trying to get an image of the guy that he bought this car from because I can't work out how he's got in mud in every single pace and orifice and paddle on the inside.
What I heard was that that that car was really well maintained by the 1st owner the the neighbour, the old guy that bought it new. Yeah, he did the 1st 20,000 KS
in it and it was really clean and that's why the the the the guy that Tom bought it off. Bought.
Them so but and he and his daughter drove it for a while and they looked after it but then it went to the hoarder brother and the hoarder brother used to collect firewood in it from. That makes sense, yeah.
Some sort of trails, you know, the boot carpet was even there when when Tom got it, you know, because he had the boot full of wood, I think. So it's been fanged through some
forest trails or something, and that's where all the muds come from, I think. Yeah, I mean it honestly, the
outside and the inside looks like a four wheel drive.
It has the same like branch scratches and like, you know, hitting logs on, you know, on the on the on the side sills and all that. And yeah, it's just like
everything, everything it's ever seen.
It hit Braille parking to the absolute Max by by that guy.
I'm, I'm imagining because yeah, the other person obviously took care of it. But yeah, so I just gave it a
bit clean and I basically, you know, just trying to get an inventory about what it needs. Looks pretty straight
underneath. Like there's no, there's no
issues. There's no leaks at all, which
is awesome you know stun bug roll.
OK, so you kind of expect it, but then again, like you know, sometimes when the cars aren't when cars aren't driven, they also the the seals start running out and hardening up and stuff, but it seems pretty good. So yeah just getting an
inventory. I got some head unit wiring for
it today, which unfortunately turned out to be the wrong kind.
So I've got the head unit turns on, but I've got no sound at all, which is because there's, there's two types of plugs for the head units. There's A2 plug and a single
plug. And I happened to air Pro, no
disrespect, but you recommended the wrong 1.
So I, yeah, I, I got the, the recommended one, which was 2 plugs. But my, I took the head unit
out. It was a single plug 1.
So we're just going to get a, another ISO wiring harness for it and it should be fine. But yeah.
If I could head unit is it? Yeah, yeah, I just, it's just
what I had lying around, just an old Sony.
That's that'll because I couldn't unlock the the stock head unit. So the original head unit, but
yeah, I just couldn't unlock it. I tried Googling for the card
and stuff, I couldn't find it. I don't have the book, so I
couldn't find that either. So I just thought, yeah, bugger,
I'll just put a aftermarket 1 and just, you know, nothing too flash, just to get the music for the drive and whatnot.
Drives the tarragon around a bunch.
That's it's good as always, no issues.
What else? Well, it's just cleaning cars
basically. Just yeah, just a lot of
cleaning over the last few weekends.

pretty much the the back end of it has fallen out, started getting a a good squeak from the front right hand suspensions and my guess is that one of the shocks has gone there or very close to it. So unfortunately, nothing good,

Easy fixes, Anthony, Easy fixes. Look, they they are easy fixes,
but the problem is the closed door respray is still not cheap.
You know, suspension wise that's no big deal.
Headliner that's not a huge deal either.
You know, I think I got a quote the headliner that was like 300 bucks. So I mean, that's that's not too
bad. And that was, you know, I think
I was going to basically supply was the fabric, which I think looking at it myself, the fabric was going to cost me like 150 to 180 bucks fabric alone. So in that instance, pay the
extra 100 bucks and let somebody else do it.
He's a little bit more experienced, I think as a no brainer. Yeah, absolutely.
So I mean, that's that's as much as I've got going on.
Drove the crown the other day for a bit of a change.
So, you know, did another 10 KS on that one.
Really, really probably just need to finish that, that cut and cut and Polish on the roof and probably start listing that.

We chat about the car. It tells me it's, you know, it's
been in the family 30 plus years.

His dad passed away a few years ago.
His mom couldn't. His mom couldn't let the car go
because she had sentimental value for the car.
Now she's recently passed away, so they're like, well, we can get rid of the car now. And and then he's just, he spent
a bit of money on it, getting it, you know, driving again.
So he's like, come and look at it.
So I was like, yeah, no worries, I can come and have a look at it. So last Tuesday I went and had a
look at it and I actually caught up with David Prince in the morning for, for breakfast. And David was was happy enough
to come and have another set of eyes on it on the, you know, went to go have a look at it and.
Mainly because it was in and outer eastern suburb that you'd never been to. I'd never been to Bayswater
before. Have you ever been to Bayswater?
Oh yeah, I used to drive trucks there.
Oh. Yeah, well, into Bayswater and
it was like, oh, it was an early Tuesday morning and.
By the way, it's it's not near the Bay nor the water.

So all that sort of stuff. So, and his name is Jeff and
yeah, we I've always got on well with him at work and and I've done a few jobs for him after he started sort of thing on his vans and stuff. And then we sort of lost touch.
But but yeah, when I saw the Camp Harris free of plates and then I saw an eco mist, I said, is his name Jeff?
Yeah, he's oh, he just took one look at me and said, what are you doing here? Well, I'm I'm here with this
one, so. So it's so while they were while
they were catching up and reminiscing and and talking about the good old days, I was inspecting the car and then it's very original in it, David, Like it's a very original like it's nuts. Yeah, it's very, very clean.

It's, it's, it's very original, missing three of the four centre caps, which are going to be a nominated Finder.
I've found a set of wheels in WA, but he won't ship.
I've, I've contacted a few people that have that have been wrecking them and they've said yeah, good luck 3.
D Print them. That's all you need.
They're tiny little caps. There I know.
And you've got 1, so you can 3. D Yeah, I'm going to scan it
and. Do that.
And then just 3D print them at work.
They'll be, you know, they'll be 3D plastic, but at least they'll, they'll stay on there and they'll be fine.
So I will, I will probably do that with that.
What else with the car? So it's the bars.
The bars need a bit of love because old mate Braille parked is, is, is becoming our favourite, favourite, you know, favourite saying Braille parking.
He yeah. So like they're not terrible,
but like the car's quite straight.
Like it's, it's very original. It's going to need a bit of
David Prince on the on the on the handbrake lever and it'll be needed a bit of David Prince on the on the rear, you know, rear rub strip. But apart from that, it's, it's
a very original car. So then with the startup battery
was dead because he had not started the car in about six weeks as it had just sat there. But after that we got it jumped
and it, it was a little bit hesitant and then it then it started and it sounded like AV 8 because it's got a massive exhaust leak. So the, and apparently it's
quite common in these that the flex flexi joint fail.
So like when the engine mounts wear out, you know, the, the engine kind of drops a bit and they, they kind of put a bit more pressure on the flexi mounts and then they then they then they kind of wear out. So, so that's that it's got a,
it's got a rocket cover gasket leak on both, on both sides, which is, which was reminiscent of my experiences seeing steam, you know, come at the size of the engine when the car was warming up because the, because it'd be the old, the dropped oil would be, would be burning off the off the exhaust.
And I'm after about 5 minutes and you're closing you, you just close your vents and you know, you go after about 5 minutes.
So, so that so that's that'll need to get done.
It needs a windshield. It's got it's got a crack
that'll that'll get sorted some engine mounts as well.
And I think it should be pretty like it should be pretty good.
So took it for a test drive drive's OK.
It's not as I didn't really want to.
I didn't thrush it or anything, but like, I was just just putting it around. But it, it took me back.
Like the smell of the car took me back.
It took me back to my truck. It, it smelled exactly like our
smell. It was yeah.
You know, when you can relate smells with, I mean, it's certain things. It's just it that it just, it
took me back to being, being a kid, you know, getting dropped off in primary school and it, you know, picking up Anthony Falk, Mr Turbo Terry, you know, numerous times and numerous times. And then my dad, you know,
slamming on the brakes and locking up because I had no ABS.
And it, it, it brought, it brought back so many memories.
You know, it just, I couldn't get the smile off my face.
Just just driving it around the block.
So then we went back and, you know, we originally, well, he originally wanted 7 grand for it.
And I'm like, there's no way he's 7 grand for this.
And we, we came to a very, very good number.
And I think the David Prince tax helped a bit a bit there.
So, so that was, that was quite kind of a good thing to have.
So, yeah, came to a good price and then said, yeah, OK, let's do it. So then went to.
But then David was like, we'll take it to my mechanic first game to do the exhaust. And because it's over that side
of town, I'm like, yeah, it's fine.
So when I pick it up, we'll go do that.
We got to pick it up, start the car driving fine for the first, you know, 20 minutes of the trip.
Would you say David? Yeah, yeah.
And we'll get to a set of lights.
That was like putting the thumbs up.
And I'm like, yeah, thumbs up. Everything's going good.
You know, the car was coming back alive because the battery was flying, you know, everything.
Like some of the things, some of the functions were, you know, waking up and, and the radio was working, yet the electric antenna was working. It was like, oh, this is great.
Next set of lights come to a stop and the car just dies completely dies. And I was like, oh, no, this is
not good. And in all the power it just was
like like it just felt like the the you know, the Millennium Falcon was just powering down. It's just like all everything
dimmed in and it just, it just died and the battery was.
The Millennium Camry lost power. The Millennium Camry lost
complete everything. So so you.
Know, I think for full effect, Matthew, you need to advise people that you were heading West on Burwood Highway and this was at the traffic lights at Spring Vale Rd.
Yeah, so quite. Begin to 2nd 5 on a on a on a
Thursday afternoon. Big intersection.
Yeah, not ideal. Not ideal for it to stop there
and then. You know, I love the guy in a
full drive. It was, was it a Triton?
I can't remember what it was. You know it was.
I was too busy just trying. Yeah, I think it was Triton, but
it was more importantly, it was one of those traffic control Ute so it had yellow flashing lights on the top, so just turned those on. And then we pushed the car
backwards and then into the turning lane and then, you know, proceeded to move my, you know, my, my car.
Well, David. David moved my car and then I
was directing trafficking people not hitting me because the because the hazard lights weren't working.
Is it because the car completely, you know, completely lost all power? So that so that wasn't fun.
And then people were yelling at me on the side of the road.
Put your houses on. I'm like, that don't work.
Nothing's working. I've got no power.
And then I think I had a few people say you can't park there.
And so, so. So thank you, Scotty.

Yeah. You triggered me earlier,
Scotty. I was like, now I'm one of those
people, but it doesn't, it bothers my how how silly people are because like I'm waving people and saying go around and everyone's going around and this one person just comes up and waits behind me and with the indicator on it, I'm like, I'm like, there was still daylight. I'm like, Hey, you got to go
around. And she's just, she's just
sitting there looking, looking at me and just already waiting for the lights to turn green and I'm sitting behind the car like, what is wrong with you? So when she finally realised I
was just like, what the hell? So, so now it's getting, now
it's starting to get dark and this Mitsubishi Evo drives past me and I could smell the, the lovely E85 from, from the, from the rear. And I'm like, oh, that's a nice
car. He drives off and 5 minutes
later he comes back. He's like, do you need a hand?
I'm like, oh, you're a legend. Like, yeah, have you got to have
you got to, you got to jump back?
He's like, absolutely. So we jumped the car and bang,
it was like, it was like nothing ever happened.
It was. It ran perfectly all the way to
the to David's mechanical shop where the they do exhaust drove it straight in and yeah, happy days.
That's bizarre. So I think it's got an
immobiliser. Sure it has.
I think it's got an old school immobiliser.
Our Camry had on it from I asked dad about it actually, and he's like, it had an immobiliser on on it, but he, it never worked.
So he, he never used it. But the, the, it wouldn't
surprise me because being the, you know, being the V6, they probably would have said, oh, you know, it's a bit more expensive. We'll we'll have put a, you
know, put a mobilizer in it. And that's why I just completely
cut. Everything Domingo would have
upsell upselled that I think at the time.
Absolutely upsold it. So drove it there and yeah,
look, it, it drove it, it drove really like, really well.
It, it took me back. I mean, it, it's, it didn't feel
as quick as, as I remember them. But then again, I've driven a
lot of faster cars since then. You know, that's probably, you
know, but for a piece of nostalgia and for a piece of, you know, like it, it made me happy driving it.
I was like, yeah, this is, this is good.
Despite the fact that it completely died and probably the worst possible moment, but thank you to Mitsubishi Evo guy you you followed me all the way to the to the to the mechanics too to make sure I got there cycling so.

Why aren't companies making them anymore?
And I, and I think, I think we've got a fair idea as to why they're not making them anymore because it's probably there's not enough sales in them. But where have they all gone?
Because I remember in the, in the 90s and early 2000s, you could, every company had a sports guy, didn't they Like, and even if they weren't a proper sports guy, like you could get like a Celica with a Camry engine, But then you could also get the GT4 version of that, which was like the, you know, the, the big daddy, you know, what happened to sports cars? Like every, every company was,
was doing, was doing some sort of a sports car, even Mercedes.
But I mean, the SL is not really a sports car, but it's super light leaked. This is what it's supposed to
stand for, even though it weighs 4 million tonnes, You know, it was supposed to be their sports car, like every, you know, and then they came out with the SLK. But like even then they were
doing it like every company had had some sort of, you know, hot little coupe or, or sports car or, you know, in something interesting in their line up. And now I guess markets are
changing. But at what point do you think
companies said no, no more? And you know, the end of the
sport. And it's kind of like the
inverted commas sports car. When when you think it's left to
fail and then do you think it it's it's chance of coming back a a high or low? 3 letters SUV.
That's yeah. Yeah.
Yeah, yeah. And then I guess the other part
of things these days is now you've got EV and EV related things. So I mean, you used to think
sports car and think quick acceleration, yet these days you can just buy a appliance. And you know, I was in the
Mustang marquee for a loan car while the Mrs Carr was getting serviced and that was 3.8 seconds to 100.
You know, so it's like, well, why do you need a sports car when you can just buy a refrigerator and put put down a new go? What?
I take from that is that that's now Forda, Forda getting rid of their Mackey's. They're actually registering
them and giving them out of service loan cars because yeah.
Yeah, well, do do do you guys know the story about why the marquee was actually registered as a Mustang?
Yeah, carbon credits. Yeah, exactly.
That's the carbon credits. So they yeah, exactly that.
So when they actually wanted to release the V8 Mustang, they basically came back and said emission wise you guys need to, if you guys make a Mustang electric, that'll then offset your V8 offset so we can make it work then in that instance.
So that's the whole reason why the marquee exists.
That's just because of the nameplate, right?

That's just the only reason why it exists.
Don't get me wrong, Like I would much rather than the marquee over of Tesla or anything else like that.
Build quality was good, you know, it was comfortable.
It had all the bells and whistles that you needed for it.
Still wouldn't buy it, but it meant if I was given it, I wouldn't complain. But I mean, I think that still
comes back to the whole point of where sports cars go on.
Sports cars used to be the quick things that get around, and these days, you know, most cars are, you know, some level of stupid quick. Yeah yeah and and you, you spot
on everything like most cars, you know, like anything really like I have LH6GT hybrid is like 380 kilowatts or something, something stupid and I'm like that's nuts.
You heard like, like, you know, your big V eights and stuff when we're never getting anything close to that.
And now and now, yeah, this is a yeah 2 little hybrid thing with, you know, 1,000,000 horsepower and the one you can.
Get you can get yourself the the BYD shark that's less than 5 seconds to 100 out of a pickup. Get out of A22 plus tonne
vehicle which is just insane. So what?

That's that's what they were traditionally.

I was, I was just about to say now, now not so much because I mean, you can Chuck in your Rs sixes and things like that and your waggons and whatever else. I mean, yeah, it's not a yeah,
what's the word? That's a more conventional
sports car. I mean, that's what I was going
to say. It's not your conventional
sports car. But I mean, where do you draw
the line? Well.
It's a car, car, do sporty things.
Yeah. I think that's, and a big part
of us not having, you know, a lot of coups on the market is because there's a car that can do many things at once, you know, wear a lot of different hats.
And I think, yeah, it's cheaper for companies to make an RS6 but also just make a A6, you know, waggon base model and then put the, you know, sort of a twin turbo V6 or V8 or whatever it is and and then just have the sports model.
Yeah my dad always used to say why pay more for a 2 door car when you can hit buy a car for 4 doors for less.
You'd. Otherwise, man, he's.
He's dads. They're very, they're just so
practical, you know? Pragmatic men.
Pragmatic. Men never understood my dad was
the same. Why would I pay 2 grand out of
ass over my head? You know, like.
Just never could never understand it.
So, OK, so I would have said I I draw the line there like, you know, predominantly as as the sports cars, they're like, you know, a seat city type R and A and hot hatches.
Hot hatches are their own thing. But a sports car, we're kind of
like, you know, a sports car and you know, your S 2000s, your, your, your, your missing S chassis.
RX sevens. RX sevens, you know.
So we are talking about two door coupes.
That's essentially that's what it was down to, yeah.
Yeah, I really think, I mean the one that really stands out, not just because I saw one that was talking about 1:00 earlier at highball, but the MX5 is really, really it, isn't it?
Like, I mean it's. In a traditional sense, I agree.
The traditional sense, yeah, for all its limitations, but interestingly, not, not not, you know, zero to 100 KS in 3.4
seconds, right? It's.
Not and that's. The beauty of them, you know.
It's not a very. And, and it's the way, the total
package and the way they drive and the way they make you make you feel all those things. It's not just about out and out
performance, I don't think. No, it's not.

I can't remember if I said this one before, but I was just watching something earlier this week about it where when you're aiming for the green, you know, you tend to kind of aim for the pin and obviously to make it more challenging because it's not like it's hard enough already.
They'll put the pin in spots, might be left corner, right corner and things like that. Just always aim for the middle
of the green. You're always going to be safer
if you just aim for the middle of the green.
You get it to land there and then you can just practise and concentrate on your putting from there.
There's no point going and trying to attack the the pin itself because most likely you might have to hit over a bunker that might be there at the front to get onto that green edge and might be on a bit of an incline. So you might get it on the
green, but it's just going to roll straight off.
So just hang for the middle of the green.
