There's a professional radio. There was this front wheel drive
so. Have you got anyone you want to
thank? Just myself.
And now I do the after hours, gentlemen.
What would you go for? They see us in.
There. OK, and because it's not a super
duck. What it is?
It's not automatic. Perfection comes in the form of
two letters A&U. Long live my Ltd.
Welcome to Car Targets choose on here in IA .9 NW FM.
It's me, Maddie J in the studio with Mr Alamdeep Singh, online with Scotty Doe Johnson and Mr Rob Zadai.
How are you, gentlemen? Awesome.
Thank you. Doing pretty well.
Thank you very much. Very good.
Good to see all of your lovely faces.
Alan, you got you guys on the on the the the tutor you had a really special guest on. Yes, we did.
We had Pete Williams from Emotion is Dead.
So he's an Australian director who spent a lot of time in the UK and America. America, Yeah.
So he spent time between London and LA, basically working on films and television shows. So quite decorated, decided to
come back to Australia and tell a really Australian story.
So the film is still on tour. Unfortunately, I don't think
there's any other tour dates for Victoria.
So to be in like Fremantle and I think Brisbane.
But after that the film we're like AI guess a streaming release. So we'll probably announce that
again on this show and the other show because it's based on yeah, the Holden factory closing and a story around that.
It's got car in it, but it's not I can't movie.
It's more of a crime thriller, drama and unexpectedly violent.
OK, yeah. So we're definitely worth the
watch, but we'll probably share more information about that next time. Absolutely.
That was pretty. That was actually pretty cool to
to sit in with you guys and and see that so.
We're going to get you a Screener.
Yeah, I want to, I want to be able to watch the movie because it's it seems, it seems like it's a really good time.
Rob, how you doing man? Yeah, pretty good, pretty good.
Yeah, just in and out of hospitals and stuff like that.
But. You know everything OK mate,
what's going on? You know, elderly parents, you
know, it's just part of life, you know, and it's just a, yeah, everyone's going to go through it one day or another, but all good, all. Good and Scotty Doe, how you
doing mate? Yeah, not bad, not bad.
Just trying to plod along and school stuff I.
Was going to say Mr. Scott was beat down by some kids.
Yeah, these kids are getting to you.
They they get, they get the old slip for a good night.
It's Scotty's thinking about the olden days before he was around, when he could beat kids in schools and.
We could bring up the cane. Bring them in line that.
'D be much better. Rob, did you have the cane when
you were in your in your in school?
No, not only the cane, the strap and the ruler.
Oh, that's pretty good. Oh, man.
Had the, the hammer at school. The hammer.
So there used to be a hammer to ring the bell.
It was like a wooden hammer. Yeah.
And apparently my dad was too. What's the word?
He was too much of an animal to be, you know, reined in by a regular, like thong or anything or a strap.
So she she used to bring out the hammer for him specifically.
Yeah, so the the hammer, the what's it?
The mallet? The mallet.
Yeah, the and gavel order. That's and it works.
Yeah. It works.
Yep, Yep. I mean, yeah.
Is that turned that all right? Yeah.
He's a discipline man. I just have resentment against
any establishment now. You just any authority?
Don't we all? Yeah, I was.
I think I got wrongly strapped in one incident, maybe the other one. I I deserved it.
I've got into a flight but the there was one there, someone smashed a window and they blamed me for it and I didn't do it and I still got the strap. Really.
Yeah. Did you say it wasn't me?
It wasn't me. Oh, I.
Didn't care. He protested his innocence the
whole way. Even while he's getting the
strap, he's like, I didn't do it.
We, we had a kid yesterday told me he got caught into the office and, and he and he sat down and, and he's in year seven and he's like, OK, you're going to tell us what you do.
He's like, he's like, oh, I didn't do anything.
Like, like these kids generally didn't do anything.
And he's like, well, you know what you did, you might as well tell us and come clean. He's like, he's like, I honestly
don't know. He's like, well, we're spending
you for the whole week. He's like, for what?
What have I done? I don't know what you guys are
talking about. And they huddle together like,
wait, what did he do again? I don't know.
Nobody knows. I thought you do.
They quite literally, they quite literally had to be there for like he's like 20 minutes by just interrogating me.
And he's like, I was like, it was early on the year 7.
I'm still a new kid to the school and I'm like, I'm like, I had no idea what they were talking about.
They talk about suspending me, call my parents in Saniela.
They realise they got this, the wrong kid, those two kids in the same class with the same name. So they're like, oh, OK, this is
this is the wrong kid. After about 45 minutes of just
grilling him, we know what you did and.
Rather than apologise to like, turn to it again.
Yeah, I like to because I'm like, his name is John.
I'm like, do they even apologise to you?
He's like, he's like, no, they, they just like, they're like, well, you know, just on your way back, back to class and he's like, here I am traumatised into a new school.
He's like, they're telling me about these people who I have no idea. Oh my God, I don't even know who
Lucy is and all this people. Are they pulling?
This is what could happen to you if you're bad.
So you know this is a test. Oh, dude, yeah, he told me that.
I was shocked a lot like when this happened at my school.
He's like, yeah. Oh my God.
God. OK, so, so, Rob, I'm sorry that
you that you copped it for for for wrong.
Yeah, but, but, but schools are a place where you you're guilty until proven innocent, I suppose.
Would you agree with those? Yeah, yeah, I I had a kid, I
think I told David this story when I was doing my Stennis coordinator, the video footage of him going near a screen and and apparently the screen was broken and and I called him in.
I'm like, what are you going to do?
I said to him, do you know what you've done?
I think, I think the whole, I think that whole thing, you know, you're going to use. He's like, what are you talking
about? I'm like, well, let me play you
some thinking music. So I played him the Jeopardy
theme song, you know that? And he's like, he's like, he's
like when you talk about this computer, I'm like, yes, you talk. And then I showed him the
footage from the camera. He's like, OK, so I know this
looks bad. It's me, but it's not me.
I'm like, like, what do you mean?
It's he he's like, he's like, yeah, you can see me put my hand near it. But he's like, I didn't touch
the screen. It's like, it's like, it's like,
I'm like, but it's clearly you like the screen wasn't like that, but you know, afterwards. And he's like, did you check all
the footage? And, and anyway, we, we're like,
we're like, well, I checked, I checked the footage as to when, when it was last used. And he's like, I'm like, well,
if you got anything to tell me, he's like, he's like, I don't snitch. So the, the, the, the, the kids
do this whole thing. Oh, we don't snitch.
We don't snitch, you know. So I'm like, OK, well, you're
getting, you're getting, you're getting a pair of meetings suspension. You got your mum's gonna have to
pay for the new screen. I just, if I didn't sit right
with me, like I was about to, I was about to put set on the suspension documents and I'm like, no, I'm gonna ask him again. I'm like, what happened?
He's like, did you check all the footage from from earlier in the week? Then I checked for earlier the
week. It was a completely different
kid. Wow.
And I'm like, oh, no. And I'm like, like, you know,
this would have been a lot easier if you just would have told me, like, you know, instead of me searching through all the footage to find this one, two second piece of it.
Didn't snitch. See, all I got from there is the
kid dry snitched, OK? So.
So he's technically snitched. Yeah, technically snitch because
he gave you the the information you need to find.
That's dry snitching, that is. Yeah, that.
I guess technically you're right, yeah.
Yeah, so you either go back to school and tell everyone that kid dry snitched. Yeah, but he's so, yeah, he,
he's a dry snitcher. I want to, I want to let him
know tomorrow when I see him, you know, on Thursday, because I'm on excursion tomorrow. But they'll be like, listen
mate, you, you might have snooched but you dry snitched.
You'll be like, what the hell does that even mean?
You'll have to explain like the prison slang, and then they'll be like, this is exactly how you did it.
And that's, you know, oh. Man, can I tell you a quick one
about woodwork class when I was in high school?
Yeah, go for Yeah. Tell us stories at this point.
Tell us stories at this point. That's fine.
Yeah, 7:00 We're mucking around in woodwork.
We're throwing things around. The class teacher walked down
for a few minutes and one of the kids smashed the window.
Oh. Jeez.
And this guy used to get in trouble all the time, Adrian, his name was. And I could go shit, if I get
caught one, you know, in trouble one more time, my parents, you know, I'm going to get suspended, all this sort of stuff. So what he did we he opened it.
He actually smashed the the window on the glass sliding door. So we left the door open as the
teacher walked back in and the teacher walks in and he goes, all right boys, time to clean up.
So he went to clean up and he grabbed the broom and he smashed it into the window accidentally. He smashed it to make it look
like he smashed it just there and then, did he?
Get away with it. He sort of did.
He still got into trouble. It was so funny.
Oh, that's the best thing. We're trying to work out how
he's going to get out of it because everyone would have snitched because if he would have gone, who did it, we all would have gone ages it. Would be a universal snitch
here. Would Have been.
Everyone would have been. It would have been, yeah.
I, I love, I love how creative he was.
He's like, look, I'll make it look like it's an accident.
What sweeping the what's? What's working the place?
we, we, we didn't find it is because the kid that actually broke the monitor swapped it to the computer that that he was using that he was near. So that's why we thought it was
him. And, and, and he's like, oh, and
when we asked the kid, he's like, yeah, I was going to tell you guys. I'm like, why don't you tell us
on the spot? I mean, he's like, I slipped.
It was an accident and he wasn't.
So he just used the pen and just banged right into, into the motto. You just say go from white to
purple to black as it dies. It's watching us because it
wasn't an accident. That was, yeah.
But anyway, that's, that's, that's the the beauty of of, of, of of a school school in general, really.
Yeah, so welcome to School talk, to school talk.
You've just heard us forget you with stories of, you know, youths misspent. We don't have funny stories from
the high schools like oh, I've got some crackers, but but it but it but it isn't. We should do one episode.
Just one episode. High school talk.
See, it's a shame though, like obviously due to Australian rules and everything else, we didn't, well, except for some of us, most of us didn't have cars in high school, at least for our age group. Like if this isn't like the
states or something, wherever and you know, I guess licences are 16, a lot of people have cars.
You have a lot more car stories at least.
Did you remember the I've got his name?
He had an MX6. He was there you love for year
12 and it was an automatic MX 6 and he neutral dropped it in the front of the school and banged it blew up the gearbox in the in the front of the in front of the school.
Yeah all the metal and all the all yeah fluid just poured out of it and it like rolled as he knew as he he was like bounced off the red line jammed it and drive and just destroyed the gearbox. That was that was one of that
was one of my highlights of of of car that was.
Pretty cool. Those are pretty good one.
So brain, I can't remember his name.
I got to double check, but yeah. But anyway, gentlemen, let's get
into some car updates. Rob, how do you want it in a
while? Updates with your cars mate.
I was actually busy on the weekend setting up my little display case. Oh, very nice.
Yeah, so it's all my, all ours Harleys and my Matchbox cars and whatnot. Very nice.
Very. Cool.
So there's some motorbikes there and bits and pieces, right?
And then I cleaned up the the man cave and put the car in there and oh. Nice E30.
Yeah, the E30 and I end up, yeah, cleaning the car.
So there's just, yeah. So I just spent, yeah, a couple
of hours cleaning out my display case at home and took it down to Man Cave and yeah, set it up, set up the car down to Man Cave.
That's what I did on the weekend.
I got to come past and see it. I still haven't seen the place.
So I've got the BMX bike, you know, I don't think you can see it. Oh, you're in the back of you.
Oh. Yeah, I can see it.
I'm all yeah, it's my son's first trick bike.
I've got my Mongoose. I'm gonna hang my Mongoose on
the wall as well. That's cool.
So Rob, is this a like a kind of property elsewhere, kind of man cave or is it just in the house? Yeah, it's a property elsewhere
in Man Cave. It's so it's my dad's work.
It used to be his carpentry workshop many years ago, and I've turned it into just a place to go to play table tennis.
Yeah, cleaned it up a bit and I'm using it as that.
That's pretty cool. So yeah, what's the address and
what are the security? Yeah.
Security is basically just padlocks and keys and chains.
Yeah, just Rob sitting there with a shotgun behind the door as soon as you get it. And on a rocking.
Chair on a rocking. Chair with a shotgun, yeah.
Another fenced off courtyard area with another gate and another 2 doors to get into it. So you've got to go through
about 5 doors to get to it. But it's all right.
It's, it's there, it's there. But yeah, it's, it's just a
place to go and tickle with cars.
And I've got the guy there working out of there preparing and spraying cars. So he's still in Harley's car
and that's, he's done the roof. He's still in the roof rails on
the E36 IMGIMG. He's all the bumper bars are,
are basically all painted and, and, and blocked back.
He hasn't painted them. I'm a bit disappointed.
He's done everyone else's cars in between and he's done about half a dozen cars and he hasn't done mine, so he has to get onto my cars or else I'm going to start cracking the whip, I think. Start up in his rent, yeah.
Yeah, I'll have to lock him out, lock him out of his, out of the workshop. But yeah, so apart from that,
I've just been tinkering down there and cleaning up.
I've been setting up a spray booth section and another roof area so we can do preparation for cars and, and strip them right down to bare metal with sandblasting equipment, a high fill them and all that. And I, the guy wants to buy a
spray booth and set up a spray booth for proper one because I've got a spray booth, but it's not a very good one.
So looking at doing that. Yeah.
So just trying to get things moving there, but it's just hard to get some traction on the actual buildings itself.
But yeah, we'll get there. We'll get there.
I bought some a new C tech charger.
It was on special at Repco the other day.
A10 amp one. It's still expensive, but I'll
put all the cars and rearrange all the cars in the garage at home as well. So they're all on trickle charge
now, so at least the batteries won't die on them.
I've got the, the, the XR6 Turbo, the old 300 SC, the Mustang and the bikes in the garage now at home.
So they're all, they're all got their little home and a little place. So yeah, it's, it's good to be
organised a little bit. They're all due for a service.
So springtime service September. Service month, Rob.
Yeah, service month. Yeah, service September.
Like it? So look, Alan, that's inside the
roller door loading dock area and you can fit basically three cars in there. Damn.
Oh so. What was the address again?
That's inside where the E36 is parked now.
Yeah, Yeah, that's outside the workshop.
So that's the roller door back and the BMW is in that roller door section. Yeah.
That's very cool. Surely you've got some space for
some extra cars, MR2? No, no, I'm well, yes and no.
I've got couches in there now, flat screen.
I put a flat screen up. It's still, it's an old one.
I want to get a smart TV that way I can stream stuff to it up the couch. We've got the a nice little
patio heater, even though it's open, big open area.
I need to get a proper heat heating system put into the place. So come winter time we'll at
least a year stay nice and toasty warm.
Get the Internet over there and we can maybe just have a shower from the the man cave. That would be pretty awesome.
That'd be cool. It's it's only in D Park, do ya?
Oh yeah. So it's easy to get to off the
Ring Rd and we can go and get some hot dogs at Costco when Costco opens up. Yeah, sounds good.
You still got your Costco card over, of course.
That's it. Pro tip for anyone that doesn't
know you don't you need a Costco card to get the hot dogs.
Really. Yeah.
Because you can just walk in, can you?
You can walk in either the back end where people come out after buying the groceries because that's where you go to get your refund or sign up and just go pass the refund sign up area into the the food shops place. Or if you go through the front
end, you just say, hey, I want to have a look to see if it's worth a sign up and it'll you walk through because you can't buy anything without you can't buy any of the other groceries without the card. In terms of the food, the food
court, you don't need a card. So is this a cheat code?
Yeah. Yeah, So you just want to feed
at Costco, you can head on in, Yeah.
See Costco tips. Costco cheat codes.
Yeah, Codes, yeah. Scotty Doe, all those with you.
Nice weather on the weekends. I ended up just giving the blade
a bit of a wash because it was absolutely filthy.
It's interesting when you finish washing a car and just you forget how good it looks when it's clean.
Yeah. Yeah, it's dirty that easy.
And it's been, you know, a few weeks since it's been clean.
It's a Pearl white colour, so you see all the dirt on it and hatchbacks get all really dirty on the back part as well.
So I cleaned it all up and I was like, oh, this looks awesome again. So it makes you just kind of
respect the car even more. Not upset.
So I did that on on Sunday. I cleaned Ash's car as well at
the same time, so gave that a scrub.
I should have worked on the 31, but I kind of ran out of time.
So that will have to be another day, fortunately.
Yeah, that that was it. Nothing too awesome.
Nice. Ellen So on the topic of Rob not
wanting his car batteries dying and then Scotty washing his car, I think I had a bit of things, I had a bit of both of that on the on the weekend. So the SDR have not been out
since we went to Geelong. Not Geelong.
Good job. It was Geelong, It was Geelong.
Yeah. The SDR haven't been out since
then and the battery had actually died this time.
This was the first time battery died.
So I went to starter up because I was heading to Matt's place on Sunday. And yeah, nothing from the key
fob, no lights. And I'm like, oh jeez, she's
dead. So she had to pull the key out
of the little fob and, you know, throw it into the the the key slot and then open the door that way.
Threw in the jump starter, got it started up and it made this weird hissing sound. And I was like, what the hell.
Like, just because I didn't start the car and it stopped.
I'm thinking at that point I had gone to get the actual jump starter off the battery. Turned out it was that damn air
pump that they used. Yeah, to, you know, on startup
to help improve emissions. And that's what was making a
hissing sound because obviously it was pumping some air.
So I was like, well, at least nothing's broken.
Yeah, but the car had a, you know, good quarter inch layer of dust on it. It's absolutely covered.
So we, we went, I went to Matt's house for a secret project, which will be revealed hopefully in the coming week or so.
But for that project, the souvenir wash, we went quickly down to the coin car wash. And immediately got the brush on
top of the car and started scrubbing.
I wouldn't let him do that. We just, we just threw a couple
Mac kindly threw a couple bucks in the machine, put on just rinse. And you know, as the high
pressure water came out, the ceramic coating underneath, you know, was like, yeah, I'm still here.
And the water just like heated magically.
So yeah, it was like a minute of washing and it was completely clean again. Just drove a little quickly to
blow it off a bit and then finish it off with Matt's big boy. Big boy, not sponsored blower at
home. Well.
We're happy to be sponsored if yeah.
If big boy hit us up because I've got a big boy pressure washer as well. So, you know, if they want to
hit us up, hit us up. But yeah, that's blew the car
down, got it all dry and then went on with our secret, secret project. So, you know, a pretty a pretty
car related weekend. Absolutely.
Updates with me. My laser went on on Thursday to
get the lower control arms and the, what's it called, the front CV joint replaced. So the one I ordered was
completely wrong. The one and so they're like, oh,
we'll just get one from our source.
The one that they ordered was they ordered two that were completely wrong. So the mechanic had the CV joint
out three times and then proceeded to put my original 1 back in because like we can't get one for this car.
I tried, I looked at SP20 listings, they're exactly the same. So I'm like, did you measure it
up? Like, yeah, we measured it up
with the splines and everything. So it's 610 long by with 26
splines each side. So I was going through, I went
back, I was a return, my old, my old one back to my super cheap.
I had a look at the listing of my like, just, it's weird.
It's what, what's going on? Then I looked at the auto
listing and the auto was exactly what they said 26 by each side and it was 609.5, which is virtually 610 in.
And and I'm like, maybe they've got the auto and manuals mixed up, you know, like backwards on the listing because the other ones were completely wrong, like massively wrong.
So I've ordered that one. When that comes in, I want to
take it and say, Hey, does this look right to you?
And if it does, they're going to whack that one in for me.
So, but it's just yeah, my CV, my left CV drives here.
It's the original CV since it's, you know, 330, almost 40,000 KS now. It's pretty noisy and it's it's
very how you going? So this would be replacing that.
But they're like, well, we don't, we don't know what we like. Even Macaque was like, we, we
tried a few different places. They always came up with the
same, the same source. They're like, is this got the
original gearbox in it? I'm like, yeah, it's got ASR 2
gearbox in it. Like it's never, you know, I
mean, I I broke one, but then I put I made sure I put one out of an SR2IN it. Otherwise, you know, otherwise
it wouldn't have went back together, you know, as as it as it did. So yeah, a bit of an interesting
one, gentlemen, a bit of an interesting one.
So what's the space for that? We've got to fix figure that
out. The Scamp.
If if that doesn't end up working, Maddie, is there an option to get a rebuilt to? Yeah, get a rebuilt.
Yeah, there is. Yeah.
So it's just you'll have to have the car off the road.
Correct. Yeah, whilst done.
So which? Which doesn't bother me too much
because I'm like whatever. But that's got 50 cars.
But it's, it's still it's, it's a bit of, a bit of a pain in the arse because you know, time I rebuilt it and you know what they're like, they can take some time.
So, so yeah, that's that. Skip update.
We haven't talked about the skip in a while.
Skip update, the rear drum wheel cylinders are getting rebuilt.
And then we should have a proper roadworthy and it should be done. He has been getting people
offering to buy it off me. So I said make me an offer and
we we might talk if it's a it's a reasonable offer, but we'll we'll we'll leave it at that for now and update for tomorrow.
Ordered my sister's. So for for the forester.
It's getting it's time about done tomorrow.
Interesting, though, three or four different time about kids come up with that car, which is really weird.
So they say it's a forward facing pump, but there's two forward facing pumps on the listing, one with three ports, one with two ports. It's even.
And when I when I booked it in, the mechanics like these are a pain in the ass to to to order for you.
It's like it's like every time we do it, we order all three kits or all four kits. Usually we just return.
We just return. We just return the one that's
not correct, which is which is which is a joke.
So I ordered, you know, the, the various kits.
So we'll find out which one it was tomorrow.
But yeah, bit of a bit of a pain in the backside with with Subarus. I know Toyota have like a whole
lot of gaskets for a similar model range and you have to go by the exact VIN number for that particular car to get the exact gasket for that particular period of car.
Because it could be different from, you know, a minor change or update within the six months. And then you know one's got, you
know, a 1.6 or a 1.8 and it's got a whole lot of different
variants on the motor. So if you've got the whole VIN
number, they might be able to actually give you the right path through the VIN number if you. Yeah.
And and that's like I told Subaru that as well.
And I gave I gave, you know, and Subaru said they found the kit, but they wanted 900 bucks almost for one kit.
And I was like, I was like, yeah, if I can get this kit from my work with 300 bucks, I'm going to take the risk and buy all three for 900 and return the two for 600 back.
You know, so, and they're they're gates kits with with you know, with, with a proper, you know, good quality water pump.
So, and I'm like, you know what? I'm it's good that you change
your every 100,000 KS anyway. So, so that that was the plan
was the plan with that. So, but yeah, they but they
didn't even give it that. I'm like, I because I asked you,
I'm like, which one? What, what pumps ago?
He's like, oh, it's just, it's just in the kit.
We're not too sure if it's if it's a single or a or a double or a triple outlet water pump. So I'm like great, but we'll
find out tomorrow and I'll and I'll, I'll let you guys know next next week. What else have I done with with
cars? And I think that's pretty much
it on my end. Now, gentlemen, tonight's topic
I wanted to talk to you guys about a few points.
Now, firstly, I want to talk to you guys about your current cars, Neil. We all chosen our cars because
we obviously like our cars. But if you had to buy the car
that you were shopping it against or something similar, like, you know, like for like, for example, we could be, you know, a Commodore to a Falcon or, or, or, or what have you.
What would you have bought and why?
And would you still consider doing that today?
If if your car got written off and you got you will have the chance to buy, buy another one, would you buy another one or would you buy the the you know, the one that you will cross shopping against? So it's good to start with you
with the with the blade Neil, you own or you've obviously owned the blade for a very short amount of time.
Were you cross shopping with other things?
So I know you're looking at XL5 turbos and a few things.
At one point were you crash shopping with anything else or or and and if you were, what would you have bought instead you? Know, I think the only other
thing that I was looking at was the Nismo notes.
Yeah, that's that's it. I wasn't really looking at at
anything else. There was dream shopping, things
that I wish I could get and things like that.
Yeah, we've all been there, Scotty.
But I think it started with looking at smaller cars.
So I was here looking at some sedans.
I had some options. So I was thinking about the
Nissan Fugas I was looking at because kind of one of the V8 crowns, older crown magesters that came with the with the V8, the early 2000s, late 1990s ones.
But I was like, no, that's probably too much, too much car.
That's not what I really needed. So then I saw the news.
My notes pop up. They seem pretty cool.
I still knew. I knew not too much, but I kind
of knew about the blades. So I was checking out those a
little bit more. And then I think what I ended up
being the blade is it was just right place at the right time.
I think is what that one came down to.
Would I buy another one? Probably not.
Not because I don't like it or anything, but because I could get something else. You know, I like to keep trying
and then drive something else new.
I think the only car that if I think back that I probably would buy again would be probably 34 GDR, never M3.
Yeah, I think I just, I like to move, move along and try something new. So here, if it did happen, I'll
try something new, maybe even test drive and give a news my note or go see what they're like.
You know I know they're great off the mark and pretty zippy, but I don't know what they're like.
If you need to do some overtaking, they might slow down a little bit. You know if you get closer to
100, it might not be as as zippy any more than I'll probably start to run out of puff so but I still enjoy it.
But I've heard they're pretty nibble good seats.
I. Feel they're great.
Yeah. So yeah, I would probably be
looking at at one of those. But you're up with your cars.
So if you had to replace the XR6 turbo, what would you replace it with? A Sprint, yeah, I should have.
I should have bought instead of the Mustang.
I know that because the Sprint is stored, it held its value a lot better, a lot better than the Mustang has, even though the Mustang held its value for quite some time throughout COVID and whatnot. And it's just they've all car
prices have really pretty much crashed, I think in recent, you know, over the last six months or so, everything's just died.
Maybe new cars have just, you know, they're discounting them left, right and centre. So yeah, I don't know if I'd buy
another Mustang, that's for sure.
Did you buy the new one? Look, not as no, I want to move
on too. You know, I'd, you know, I'd
love to try something different, you know, and I mean, you know, there's all these dream cars, you know, like our, you know, sort of the AM GGTS and stuff like that.
But that they are out of reach unless I do something crazy and sell a house or something and then maybe live in the car.
Maybe you can live. In your car.
Yeah, I can live in the car and you can go anywhere.
Then I I don't know. You got a van, Rob?
You can. You can live in the van, mate.
You got a van. I live in the van and you know
the van, if I had, if I could stretch the extra $30,000 that it was, I would have bought the Mercedes Sprinter day in, day out. It's just for the features you
can get in it from factory. The drive systems you can get,
you can just get pretty much everything that you, you know, you can order, yeah, the, the, the RV pack with the big alternator and, and, you know, swivelling seats and all that sort of stuff from factory ready to go, rather than trying to buy everything and modify everything yourself as I am with the, the, the Transit. And, and again, it's if, if you
went for that, that package now that, that package is like $110,000. So it's about $4000 more the the
Transit and they're pretty much the same features driving wise with the adaptive cruise control, lane keep, assist, comfort, heated seats. You know, with the Sync 4
systems pretty good in it hasn't played up yet even though there's a recall on it for a couple of things sort of sync system and there's another recall for some other part for it. So I've got to take it in for a
recall. The reverse camera or something
I think is playing up. They play up on him or
something. Like the other day I was driving
along, the reverse camera didn't even turn off, just kept on going. So it's great.
It's like they're having a massive rear view mirror and you can see everything. Yeah, Yeah, it would be.
Awesome. Maybe they should have made it a
feature rather than, you know, not giving you the option to switch it. But yeah, but look at.
Yeah, look, the, it is again, it's, it's all price point.
I think, you know, like you, you try to get the best you can for what you have. And, and that's the thing with
any car, you go to sort of compromise.
Well, us common people have to compromise.
And even then we're, we're probably lucky that we have got the option to even compromise to buy a car.
A lot of people don't. So, you know, so I'm, I'm, I'm
grateful for that. And, and you can't complain for
what you got because, you know, some people got more, some people got less. So you replaced the the thing
with the sprinter, the van with the Sprint, the transfer with the Sprint you replaced. The XR6 with a Sprint print.
Yeah. And so I left with the S and
I'll replace the stang for a Stinger.
How's that? Stang for a Stinger, Yeah,
that's a cool. That's a cool as well, but I'm
on that. All right.
You're keeping it on the theme there, Rob.
I like it. Yeah.
Yeah, I don't mind that. Prints print testing.
I like that. That's good.
Yeah. Now what about you, Alan?
So one of the options I guess at the time would the STI would have been the Type R. And given that I couldn't even
get an STI, as you said, if the STI got written off, knock on wood, you know, that's probably the car I would probably put my eye towards. Current Gen Like FL Yeah, yeah.
Assuming again, that finances would work because obviously you'd have to fight your insurance and everything else.
But if you might get to still afford it, that's kind of the the car I'd go for because the other car in that category would be golfer and I'm not interested in that.
Yeah, Fight machine, at least not for that kind of a price, Yeah. It'll probably depreciate faster
too. Yeah, so.
Probably for golf. Like, really?
Yeah. So it'll probably be the the the
Civic Type R, the D Max for us. I think the other consideration
was a Hiox, but again, given the amount of car you get for the money because the current Generation D Max which they've done a little update now, I think they're about 6065 to 67 for the the top of the range. The X.
Yeah, the X terrain. So I don't know what the the
highlights Rogue is now that's that'd be considerably more.
Would you consider like Triton like?
Yeah, yeah, because. Because Triton's really.
Good value. They've always been good value.
And last time I looked at a Triton would have been I'd say 2014 maybe. And you could really feel the
cheapness in the the interior. Yeah, not that the DMX interior
is amazing or anything, they're all utes but you could really feel the cheapness. It wasn't as bad as like a Great
Wall where like the feats were the seats were like, you know, that thick and you knew that you know, you were going to feel all the all the hardness. Well, I always thought with the
Trident like it was you had your like your Hiluxes, your ranges, your D Max's, stuff like that. And then you had your next level
ones, which were your your your Tritons, where it was more value like over over, you know, the better Commons luxury.
And then you had your like your Chinese stuff, but at the same time there, it's a working truck.
Yeah. Like it's going to get scratched
up. It's going to get scratched up.
Like it's, it's, you know, it's. But when you're driving around
the city, you know you want to be comfortable.
You want your heated seats. Every, every, every treaty with
with these down heated seats. The you've gone soft mate, You
hear me? You've gone soft.
Look, my excuse is that I got really bad hay fever even though it's only August. Yeah, it's really happening.
Yeah, so I use the heater seat instead of the heater and you know it keeps Hayfer away. That's what he says.
That's what he says. I've got I've got the tissues
right here. You know, I've already both of
those. No, but that that's probably the
consideration because again, the rogues and stuff like a Ranger, it's just you're paying way too much.
I feel for again, the amount of car you get, the DMX kind of hit that sweet spot at least where it wasn't too too much.
It was still expensive, but it wasn't that like hyper expensive. You're getting into weird
territory. This was still like like we'll
call it fancy territory and it still stays in that price bracket. So if I had to do it again, it
wouldn't be out of the question to get the just the DMX again.
But depending on you know how much I'm looking to spend, I try it and wouldn't be out of question either.
And I think about a few weeks ago when you own an MX5.
Yes. Now you've now, which you've now
moved on to to Edward, what would you have considered instead of an MX5 like like if you had to trade, you know, a sports car for sports car around the same money, what would you go for? I don't know what I'd get for
that kind of money. So assuming I sold the MX5
retail, I think 1515 1/2 is where I'd I'd I'd get it.
So I don't know what what I what would I get sports car wise in that money range? I don't think a lot that's
that's a big issue, yeah, Is I'd I'd have to bring in more money into it. You get AZ three or an early
like an early Z4. Yeah, that's probably something
I want to fool with. A lot of.
What was that? What was that wrong?
You'd be buying a lot of trouble.
Yeah, exactly you. Probably get an SW20MR2.
Yeah, that that I could definitely see that.
Like I'd I'd know that I'd be into a lot more work with the MR2. I think just because it'd be
naturally older, not all of it. You know, they they would still
be all right, even the SW twos 20 sorry, and a lot of the ones I've seen have kind of rougher bodies.
So that's. For that price range, yeah, so.
It would be consideration if I wanted something I can put on Club Ridge and just, you know, like whittle away it.
But for a a car that I can just hop in and drive and like not have any struggles with registration, the MX size in that price range is hard to beat.
Yeah, I would agree with that. Scotty, you're 31.
What would you replace it with? If you need like a like a
classic, you know, just a tinker and club car.
Yeah, there's some. I was thinking that there's not
a whole great deal to pick from, you know, because they only go for maybe like 7 or 8 grand, You know, if I could stretch a bit more, but you're thinking a lot more and would be a fairly rough example is like a Mark 3 Supra. That would be awesome, but got
to stretch the budget quite a lot more for something like that. But when that's running at
least. Yeah.
Or else, yeah, you're going to get a pretty rough example that's not running and would need a hell of a lot of work.
And then in the end, you're going to be paying the same amount for a good one. Correct.
Yep. If not more.
Yeah, there's, there's not much to choose from.
I don't know what I'd, what I'd do.
I would just have to pocket it and save up and just see what's there, see if something pops up. Probably would avoid options
unless I could go in person. I think that'd be the main
thing. I'd want to check it out first,
you know, Might find something that could be a little bit of fun. Around that.
But yeah, again, I'd want something that's can go on Club Bridge to have fun with and just drive now and again.
I don't want something that is newer.
I'd like something old. Still 80 sweet.
Old E30 like mine. It's amazing how many like the
TV and the BP ad with the new D30 in it.
You'll look at that with Ultra, VP Ultra.
And that was OK. Yeah, it is my car.
Look at it. It's on TV.
Classic look. It is like E 30s are a really
good size. They're they're actually they're
cracking to be in like that. You said it's one of it's
probably your favourite car to drive, isn't it Rob?
Genuinely like. It really is.
Rick Coupe, like yours, they're in the 30s now, aren't they?
Like they've they've, they've shot up in value.
They have shot up here. I think you can still get some
in the 20s. So if you like high teens, low
20s, you you, you've. Got peanuts for yours, right?
2 1/2 grand say proud to say right time by place even then they'll go on up and the guy goes look, he goes, I know you like it and you're going to look after it because he raced his E 30s yeah and he goes so you know, I'm happy to give it to you. And he done up the suspension or
had it professionally lowered all all new bushes right through new tyres. He done everything to it to
handle it just handles so well. Well, I was at, I was at a BMW
track day recently and my friend took his E36M3 which preceded the brake on the, on the, on the track.
But I was speaking to a couple of guys over the E 30s and then they're like, yeah, we had to buy 4 door ones because the coupes are just too expensive and they're, and they're and they're too. And, and not not because, not
just because they're too expensive, but they're, if you break them, like they're hard to get these days.
So they're all buying 4 doors down racing 4 doors because yeah, it's just, it's the the smarter.
And even then the photos are still in in the teens, you know.
So yeah, I think, I think you've done very well with that.
But if you had to replace your your little E30 coupe, what would it what would it be with Rob?
I, I couldn't. I don't think I could.
I, I, I wouldn't. Oh yeah, that'd be a hard choice
of that generation. I can't get Cosworth Sierra, can
I? No, you can't.
No for that buddy here. I don't know.
RS2000 maybe bit of you'll probably.
Get an escort RS2000 for like like like a an OK driver one.
Yeah, definitely. Yeah, yeah. 30 grand, yeah.
Yeah, love something like that. An old foot escort like and and
they handle great too. They're they're really cool.
Yeah. Yeah.
So maybe something like that, but it's still the E30 every day. I wanna I wanna have a drive of
that Rob because because I've been in E30, but I've never driven an E30 and apparently they they are really good to drive so they. Are.
So yeah, I'd love to have a drive of yours.
I think that'll be, I think that'll be a cracker.
So we've covered that. What about your P-76?
Have you had to replace with anything like especially at the time when you when you're cross shopping for for a car?
You know now in hindsight looking back at it, a Monaro, you know, XY, XAXB coupe or anything of that generation would have been worth three times as much as the fee. 76 is
only worth 30 grand and all the others are in their 90s to hundreds you know. Anyway, even though they I drove
all of them, my mates had them all and like I said, we used to go away in my car because their cars weren't as comfortable like cars was more petrol. And as far as I'm concerned,
they used to squeak and rattle. I don't care what anyone says,
you know, to the, the Ford fans, Holden fans, the the cars are crap in their days. They're absolute crap compared
to AP 76. But they had their troubles,
absolutely had their manufacturing troubles.
They, you know, because they tried to glue window rails on and bonded panels together and they spot welded panels.
They had monocoque chassis, MacPherson Strat rack and pinion steering and all that sort of stuff.
And there's just no way an old pinion, you know, sort of a standard steering box would compete against a rack and pinion. It just wasn't there the, the,
the absolutely awesome car and even now today you if you can't find a path for you could almost retrofit the silica struts and stuff like that and other bits and pieces into the front struts to, to make it work so you can make it fit and and it still handles well too. For a 50 year old car, it's
amazing and it's again 5050 weight distribution always go back to the P-76. But for driveability, but for
for money wise and, and, and what you get in return.
Because all the Ford and Holden fans are crazy and I'll spend whatever they can on a on a on a Monaro or an XY mate.
I'll have one everyday just to bump the price up for them to pay more for it when I do when I do something.
Absolutely. Well, I mean they always say
there was, you know what a few 100 GTS made, there's 5000 left.
So like there's yeah, that that is a that's a very common common thing with with GT Fords. So what other cars do you
actually have Rob that that you your your Merc your your actual your your your old 60 W was AW1O8 you've got.
I've got the, I've got AW1O8 which needs restoration and there's the W 112 which is a 2 door, so that's in very good condition and there's a few little tweaks I need to do to it to make it 100%, but that's. A That's a beautiful car.
That's a beautiful car. Well, it must be pretty good
when it got one the the best Mercedes on all German day.
That was pretty good. So it's pretty.
Good, I'm I'm pretty impressed with that, but oh, I'll can't wait to get the 380 SEC all sorted out and painted and I've got another 380 SEC sitting there where it's the guard and the bonnets missing the guy. I got it from strip to freeze
Carter when he was restoring his 380 SEC but I'd love to do a wide body kit. Yeah, that'd be.
Cool on an SEC yeah, yeah, aimed you look yeah wide body and you can buy the kit for about 3 and a bit $1000.
So that would be a nice project with that, but I've got the 280 CE which I really want to get sorted out that that's the the two door is it like I can't remember what model number it is so. It's a 123, isn't it 1/2?
Three, yeah, it is a 123. I just want to see that on the
road and all cleaned up because that I reckon that's a classic and I should have that guy who wanted 30 grand for the barrel conversion swap on here. I reckon that wasn't a bad price
really in the grand scheme of things because that car would have cleaned up real well. I could have made that look even
better than what it was and then it would have, you know, been a, a, another example, you know, sort of a, a $40,000 plus car.
Yeah. But anyway, if I had the money I
would have bought it. Yeah, that's, that's the best,
that's the $1,000,000 question if I had the money.
If I had the money, I was. Thinking about this with my
cars, because I when I when I was drove the typing the other day and I was like, you know, what can I buy that that does the same job, you know, as this? And it's pretty hard to find
really chasers, but they're they're drug money these days.
It was, you know, 4 door turbocharged, you know, rear wheel drive, you know, manual kind of car Aristos were only automatics, you know, unless they're converted.
So like a Chaser's kind of, you know, you're more you're better thing. So that's probably as close to
money from from Japan, But I was thinking, you know, like other other otherwise, there's not really much that you could that you can replace that car with in terms of like, you know, similarities. Case thing of GT would be would
be a would be a nice a nice thing in the garage.
But there again, they're only an automatic, but that that doesn't bother really bother me these days.
I was going to say, though, he's very one of left field, but I've always liked them and I know Scott's going to just hang up the phone call as soon as I say this, but E39M5, the manual only V8 wheel drive good, the handsome looking car, and it's good he's got it now. I'm kidding.
Yeah. I like those.
Yeah, I've always kind of had a soft spot for them and like, you know, they they're really, really cool car and the last of like the kind of you know, before crazy high powered high, you know, high speed numbers and M SIM cars and probably probably the last kind of like reliable ish M car before they before they went nuts. You just got to make sure that
you've got oil container with you in the boot.
They do use a bit of oil from what I've heard, yes, but very handsome car and, and I think that would probably one thing I'd replace it with the Mr Twos are the hardest one for me because like I'm like what, what could I replace that car with?
And that's about a $25,000 car these days and sports cars for 25 grand MX5. I could you can get an ND like
an like an A really early ND with a, with a fair, fair few KS on it. Like that's a two seater that
could, that could possibly work. But in terms in terms of like
something like something else that that's a that's a two seater little sports car. There's there's really not much
for 25 grand, is there? No, not a lot.
I used 86. Like used 86?
Yeah, like a. Clapped Out P Player Edition.
People at a spec, but I was thinking, you know, like maybe like a like a like a a Gemini, like a holding Gemini or something like yeah, like something that that's still club playable rear wheel drive bit of fun or because like like to get an escort that I want. It'll be a bit bit pricey so
that that rules them out. But yeah, I've always kind of
said, yeah, why not like a Gemini or why not like something cool like that. That'll be that'll be a cool
replacement for that the sorry. Mighty Caramels, they're doing
one net at the moment. They are doing one the other
one, yeah. I mean, I as you guys know, I
came home from the hospital in a Gemini.
So Geminis are going to got a deep place in my heart.
The Fiesta. I'd probably replace it with an
I-20 NI think that's I think like that was the only other option that was that was on the cards between that Yaris GR again, 3 cylinder kind of kind of thing that that'd be that'd be pretty cool. I actually wouldn't mind a
Yoshi. I think that'd be that'd be a
fun little car. The scamp.
See, that's such a hard car to kind of price and hard car to to kind of dump because it's such a unique like how many metal bumper cars can you get for under 10 grand that work pretty well? There's there's not there's not
many Chrome bumper cars you're going to get for that.
So that's probably the one that I'm Australia with the most as to as to what I would, what I what I would ever replace that with. You can.
Buy another scamp. Buy another scamp, Yeah.
Like David, I need your help. David, you know, hit us up
there. Probably another one.
So there's that and the laser. I yeah, I don't know, like I'll
probably go triple S Pulsar. If I was to do it, I'd be yeah,
it's got to be, it's got to be some sort of some sort of, you know, 4 wheel drive nugget, but a bit of fun.
Yeah, SR20, triple S Pulsar. That's what I that's what I
definitely go with. In the blue.
Oh, in that blue, Yeah, with the with the bus seat interior.
Nice you claim you can do 250? Read the specs or whatever.
They they don't do a 200 dish. Yeah, bus bus fabric interior.
I'd get a series two in the blue with the white dials and and yeah, it's cooker. I really I really like those.
I really like those. I should have gone I should have
gone this. I should have gone a triple S
because my a good man of one bought a triple S at the same time bought my SR2 and yeah he was faster.
That was like the quintessential kind of P player drag race, like either a Laser or a three 2-3 Yeah, and then a triple S Pulsar. Satu GTI.
Yeah, at that time. But the.
Maybe a Corolla if somebody's got something going on.
Yeah, well, across Portivo, definitely like Tivos.
Tivos were kind of in no man's there for a while because like they were just kind of like a, you know, just after their triple SS and Sr twos and all that.
Well, they had a lot of power, but but then they went, but everything went turbo. So then they were just outgunned
anyway. So XL 5 turbos, you know Mcgyne
went turbo MPs. Yeah, but those were out of AP
plate, this kind of reach where as sporty where you could, you could then then you'd have the Swift Sport and you see like red and green P plates, that's it lined up revving up outside the Maccas and. I might say the triple S Pulsar,
like the people that are in triple S Pulsars now own Golfers and Golf Gtis like they're the modern day, you know, kind of kind of those cars or would you say that they're the more the Falcon and Commodore owners now because quick performance for not much box? Actually, no, I think that I
think they're. So no, I think Falcon and
Commodore owners have gone to dual cabs, dual cabs.
Yeah. Rangers Boys.
Yeah. Got a fit in the fit in the
Ranger. Because I do, I do me four being
and the people that bought triple SS have all bought GTIS and golf bars and and, you know, put crack and pop tunes and and do 1,000,000 miles an hour down down, you know, back streets.
So, so yeah, that's kind of. On the way back from your place,
it was 2G bars. They buzzed past me and I'm
like, it's you're on the Grand Blvd, there's a speed level 60.
There's a roundabout coming up. Like, where are you going?
Just one after another? Yeah, go up banging and popping
away. Pop pop, pop, pop.
See, I think that's, that's what I, that's what I would do with my cars, guys. Yeah, it's pretty good, pretty
good choices. Scotty Doe Our quiz You've done
the quiz for us this week. Yeah, I have done the quiz.
I, I, I did my best for some reason, just sometimes I just, I find it hard and my mind goes blank.
Like what can I, what can I even do for questions?
But then other times I'm like, Oh yeah, I could do this and set up this. But but we are, we do have one.
I've got the 10 questions. There's only a couple bonus
questions not too in there, but it's just a mix of anything and everything. So no theme, nothing like that.
Mix and match. Yeah, that's how I like it.
There's the car to a car quiz. 10 questions plus some bonus
questions. Scotty do take it away.
OK, question #1A new quick waggon is coming out soon and just recently spied in camouflage.
What Car was it? Well.
I was going to say it can't be M3 waggon because that's actually Matthew M3 waggon. Oh, no.
OK. A new quick waggon?
By new do you mean a new model or a completely new model?
Completely new. Haven't heard or seen anything.
Mustn't have been big news. It must have been a real quiet.
At the back door release. Release what company?
What are they? Who's releasing new cars at the
moment? Not out.
Yeah, but pretty soon it's not the best kept secret or anything from what I was reading. Like I was.
I was reading the article about it and they've got photos of it.
Yes, Alan. Is there some kind of electric
vehicle waggon? All right, that was my guess.
After Rob guesses, I'll have another guess because I think I know what it is, but. You won't get the.
Point if I get the point. A.
Quick waggon. It'd be a Golf Volkswagen Golf
waggon. Nah.
Is it? Is it the new M5 waggon?
Yes, that's the. One I know of, something BMW
related anyway. Yeah, it was M5 waggon.
From what I can kind of see with the camouflage, it looks pretty sleek, like I look forward to actually seeing it.
So it should look tough. It's not too far off coming out
from what I was reading. The next couple of questions
that I've got, I'm going to read out three car models and you just got to tell me who makes it.
So, you know, I might, you know, read out Falcon, Mustang or whatever, and you just got to tell me, oh, Ford.
So here we go. I have Alante, Fleetwood and
Deville. Matthew, Matthew.
That's catalogue. Yes, jeez you did that fast.
Question 3. Scrum bongo and flair.
Matthew. Matthew Mazda, yes, Oh my God, I
tried to find the most obscure one but I'm like, as if I could trick Matt anyway. I'm a sick individual, man.
Everyone thinks I'm sick. The the obscure ones are the
ones that you know, yeah. Exactly.
So like, this is just going to be like, let's give Maddie some points. Sorry guys, sorry about this.
All right, look. That's the only reason why I
make it. Some people do the quiz.
So I can get some gratification once in a while.
Yeah, just so he feels good about himself.
Boosie's ego. I need it.
I need it. Question #4 Now the the roof, do
they pronounce it as roof or roof?
Yeah, Roof. Roof CTR code name.
The yellow bird has amazing clip of it driving around the Nurburgring. Who owns this exact vehicle to
this day? That's a great question.
Still around and someone? Yeah.
Was was it? Well.
Alum. Alum Is it Mr Bane?
No, it's not. It's a good guess though.
He's. Good guess because he does
collect and he's got a lot. Correct me if I'm wrong, was it
Walter Roll? That was like taking it sideways
all around the OR or or what one of one of the Group B rally drivers that was driving on that day, because that would it would have been they was going nuts. He was going nuts.
I can't remember exactly what it was.
I'd have to couple check the. I want to put in as just a
random guess as to who owns that car.
Do they own it from new to New York?
Is that, is that what you're saying or?
Yeah, it still owns it. Yep.
Yeah, OK. He's a car nut and he's got a
lot of money. Oh, no, Matthew.
Mios is. It Tim Allen because he's yeah,
OK. Good guess though because I mean
he does collect a lot of cars. Yeah.
What's the It's the singer at ACDC now.
Well, and Brian Johnson? It's not Brian Scott.
It's no one like that. Brian Johnson.
Yeah, Brian Johnson. All right.
Is it Jay Leno? Nope.
OK. I think we'll roll out, yeah.
It's it's pretty funny because you'd be like, oh, OK, it's actually the owner of roof. You know, I was thinking that
I'm like, he's. He's still got it today.
There's pictures of him with his with his kid with it and everything so. That's hilarious.
He still owns it himself. So, you know, if you said Mr
Roof or something like that, I'd be like, yes, because his first name is like ALOIS. Just seems like Alois.
Alois or something like that. Say it's French.
Yeah. Still owns it today and still
takes it out on car shows and events and things like that.
That's so cool. I just heard about that
recently. There was a clip that I saw, so
that's pretty cool. Still gets around.
OK, some some more obscure stuff coming up.
Volkswagen Golf GTI came out with a limited edition in 2011 based on a popular sports brand. What was it, Rob?
Rob. Was it Adidas?
Yes, it was, yeah. You're right, yeah.
Nice Adidas question six. In 2000, Ford released a Focus
called the Kona edition. What did it come with?
Rhino. Edition Matthew.
Hyundai Badge? No, I've got no idea.
Ron refracts. You get half a point.
Oh, OK. It did have that, but something
else connected with that. Some kind of snowboard thing?
Oh Nah, not snowboard. Surfboard.
Nah, not surfboards. It was a big came with a
bicycle. Right, your bicycle, OK.
Yeah, so you've got. The whole bicycle.
Football as well yeah in 2000 Ford Focus Kona edition got yourself a bicycle and the roof rack to put on top and I was just trying to find. Come with an extra insurance
policy for when you drive into like you know shopping centre that has like the low clearance then you smash through it.
It comes with comes with limited edition Ford Focus Lycra.
Now you say any stuff like Ford fans like that, they they spend big money on some shit like that.
They're like, oh. Even if the lycra has been like
well worn when used, they'll be like yes I've got.
Like a whole of the jocks is like what's?
So actually, like, yeah. And you can always put it inside
out and you used a sham in to drive your car.
Like it, Like it. All right, the the next question
is way off and very morbid. OK.
But anyway, question 7. How many deaths have occurred on
No, I'm gonna say there's. I wanna, I wanna go, I wanna go
hard. I wanna say 200.
Okay, it's 16. Oh OK, alum's closest.
And alum is closest. That's hilarious 3. 100 that
gets it's like 570200. I thought you would at least I
thought you were gonna say like, you know, 20 or 25.
I was like, yeah, but these 200 there a.
Very long time Scotty. Yeah.
And what about all, all the the First Nations people that would have died in the, you know, past history in that general region that still counts as about Panorama, right?
There's there's been, but there's been all Forbes of racing there. There's there's like, yeah,
yeah. Yeah, that's all written on
there. I'll take, I'll take the owl.
I'll take the owl. Move on.
Look. At least it was a out there
guess. You got to be in it to win it.
Yeah, great. Well, I mean, I'll I'll get like
cars like the Fleetwood and the Bongo, but I won't get how many.
Deaths are on. Panorama.
Yeah, it's probably a good thing.
I mean, it's pretty morbid. It is.
Pretty morbid. That's like 200.
It's like, what a race? What a race.
No, no, we don't want that. That's that's, that's, that's a
bad time. That's why they put the chase in
there. Too many people were crashing.
Yeah. Yeah, because the cars are
getting faster and faster and the brakes weren't really getting much better. No, the brakes will be done by
the time you get to that you'd be you can you'd get through there, go on the back straight. Sorry on the on like crossing
the line and going into the first quality wouldn't stop because your brakes will be still cooked from the from the massive brakes from the the one before.
Forest Elbow. Forest Elbow.
Yeah, that one's tight. Yeah, well, I saw that when
Dick, Dick Johnson come off at Forest Elbow.
I was right there and I saw it happen.
Oh yeah. Were you right there?
Yeah. Yeah, that.
Yeah, well. The dude, what was that like
with everyone? Just like don't know what to do.
The Marshalls are out the flags and all that, and there's just carnage. Yeah.
When he went up, it sort of hit the, the actual concrete barrier into the trees. Yeah.
So it was. Yeah, I was.
It's amazing. They they they they actually
fixed his car or made another car.
I don't know what they did, but they got another car ready to go for the race. Like mate, he's a he's, so he's
amazing. He walked out of that like like
he did, he montered that car. Green stuff was gone.
Like it was a destroyed car. Yeah, apparently the paint was
still wet the next day. Here he is, you know, ready for
the drive, you know? Yeah.
That's funny. It's pretty good.
All right, enough, enough morbid stuff where I jump into question 8, which is more recent news. The Hyundai I30 is changing
countries of production. Where was it originally made and
where will it be made now? I heard that.
I think Allen got me in there. All right, so it's originally
made in South Korea. Yes.
All right, it will now be made in Thailand.
No. So you get one point for for
that, Matthew. Yes.
Are they moving it to their Turkey factory?
Nope. Yeah, OK.
Rob, the Koreans are moving it to Vienna.
Nope. North Korea, they're going to
North Korea. To cheap.
Cheap labour. Is it?
Is it Romania? Scottie.
Look, give me the continent. Alum.
Alum. Africa.
Nah. Really.
Yeah, Europe. We're.
About that's half a point only. That's half a point I'll take.
That the article didn't say, just said it's moving to Europe.
What a time to be alive, huh? Asia's outsourcing to Europe.
You probably saw an in saw an eastern bloc, probably like Romania, Hungary, Czech. Well, they've, they've got a
Turkish plant. That's what the I twentians
made, I think in the Turkish plant so.
I guess some Latvians make in the pay them potatoes.
Bonus question, because there's a problem that it's moved to Europe. It costs more.
How much more? What?
What's the point of that? Like what?
What kind of dumb financial decision anyway?
I'm not. How much does it cost more in
Australia or somewhere else? Here.
How? How much it'll cost more for
just the basic I30? How much more is it gonna be?
It'll be two and a half, $1000. 2 1/2 thousand more.
Yeah, that's what I'm going with.
We'll go closest to if we want, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, we'll do. Closest to for this one, yeah.
Rob 3200 dollars. OK.
I'm not going to be as crazy so I want to say 1500 bucks.
Oh, you're all way off but. Really it's.
Closer, it's 12,000. What?
What? Yeah, $12,000 more.
Good luck to that. No, no, this is legitimate.
Yeah, this is straight from proper article, not is.
This is this for an. Is this for an N or just for an
They're in the 20s. I thought they're around about
30. OK.
All right. OK.
So who was close as them? I think it was you all right.
You said no. Rob, Rob, that was the.
Highest amount? Yep.
Rob got closer on that one. Just some of you guys to score
check Rob and myself on 2.5, Alan on two.
So this is this is a title, this is anyone's.
Game. Yeah, Anyone's game.
Still all. Righty nice and close Question
9. What has happened to I wrote
that? I must have been drunk when I
wrote that question. What has happened so far to two
GR Corollas? Al with you.
Al they have exploded their engines on the track and Toyota refused to cover the warranty. Yeah.
Backtracked. Yeah, I'll give it to you.
They money shifted, didn't they? I think that was what they did,
yeah. They money shifted.
Yeah, and they caught fire. Oh wow.
OK. Yeah, there's there's one of
them. He even had his dash Cam and
stuff and the engine just caught fire.
So both of them have caught fire so far.
Engines Catching Fire. Pretty interesting.
But it has happened on the track for both times, right?
Well, I'd have to double check that.
I don't think one of them was. It looked like it was just the
side of the road. He was just having a fun time
so. On the boost.
So not the best there. Question 10.
And then after that there's a, there's a bonus question.
Pretty much question 11 because it's not even combined with this question to me. Oh, well, it kind of is.
I mean, it's based on movies. In 1992, a great movie came out
called Wayne's World. What card did that?
Matthew or Matthew? That's a pacer, AMC Pacer.
Yes, it is. Oh that was quick.
My extra question is what was the car used in the original Jurassic Park movie? Matthew.
Matthew. I'm pretty sure it was a Ford
Explorer. Like a first Gen explorer.
Oh, he did get it. Well done.
A lot of people lean towards a Jeep.
They think it was a Jeep, but it wasn't it.
Was a first Gen explorer. It was like when they first came
out. It was a Ford Explorer Explorer
that was used in that. Later on they used they had some
of the jeeps, but the main thing was the Ford Explorer.
Used a Mercedes in the MLS in Jurassic.
Maybe the later? Ones, maybe the later ones, and
then I think in the later ones I had some Jeep Wranglers as well.
OK. Yeah, but the first ones that
were on the on the track that would take you around the park, that was the full explorer. I'm looking I'm looking at the
article here for the 2025 Hyundai I30 priced from 36,000 before on road costs. Yeah, that, that that's about
right now, because that, that'd be because they started in the in the 20s. You could get them, you can get
them for you in the 20s differently before that, that that's an insane jump. That's that's huge.
I thought you first outsource to save money.
Yeah. Quality product, you know
they're right up. Well, I think they're, I think
they're trying to chase what Mazda's doing with, you know, just jumping, but wanting to be more premium.
That's ridiculous. Looks like they're only going to
have two sports themed variants, in line and in line premium, with the standard base, active and elite trims deleted from the line up. So they're going straight up
then? Premium from the get go.
Straight to the end line and then you're looking at the flagship 2025 Hyundai I30 N Line.
Premium will be priced at about 41 grand before costs on road costs. You remember the days when like
an XR5 turbo was in the 30s and and like a a Focus ST was 42 grand? Yeah, that's that was an St Not
not even like a not even like an N like an St line like that was an actual St. So what?
IS and the European built versions also incur 5% import tariff combined with higher shipping costs.
Well, there it goes. Your I30 people don't buy an I30
anymore. Boycott, boycott.
Yeah. I mean, if they wanted to save
money, just set up North and North Korea, they they could have, they could have done. Do whatever the matter is, just
send it to Thailand. You know they make a lot of cars
in Thailand. New China.
Yeah. Yeah, that's disappointed.
A lot of options and stuff for it still, but I mean for that money you. Yeah.
I'll just get an older I30 N and have fun with that.
Step. Absolutely completely agree.
I think it's a cracking car. Something a little bit
different, but basically out of the three German manufacturers, which countries actually build Audis, BMWs and Mercedes apart from Germany? Matthew like.
An Indian Maddie. I will say India.
So Audi, BMW and Mercedes, there's only two other countries apart from Germany that make them.
You said II. It's actually China and Hungary.
Really. Yeah, well, OK.
Yeah, so the only country in the world where three German premium car manufacturers are, and that's Audi, BMW and Mercedes there. You go.
Yeah, there you go. Isn't.
The Range Rover or something going to China, making some over there now I. Think they are.
They make a lot of stuff in China.
Volkswagen are there as well. Volvo.
Vol Yeah. Cheap labour.
So Audi's Volkswagen Group anyway.
Yeah. And I I guess to sell to local
markets, if it's built mainly locally, there's probably some tariff discounts they get. Apparently Mercedes are getting
their batteries made from a Chinese company and caught a A couple of Mercs have caught a light recently.
I. Did see that?
What a surprise. John Cadogan's having a field
day, ladies and gentlemen. He's having an absolute.
Feel yeah pretty good he's. He's, he's been going hard.
He's been going very. Hard Oh, you've got the
infrastructure really. I mean, how do you manage, you
know, battery fires? You know, basically the
building's a toxic building. You know, you've got all these
toxic fumes going through it and to to decontaminate and clean those buildings out after car batteries have been burning away. I don't know if you can ever
clean that. You'd probably have to end up
demolishing the building. You know, you know how they got
the the fire suppressure sprinklers have those, but filled with like sand, pressure sand, absolutely like cover the car in sand. Well, I'll still keep on
burning, but at least it'll sort of contain the burning.
Yeah, it'll contain it. That's why if you're working on
like smaller lithium ions, you know yes, we're supposed to have like a sand bucket nearby. They just dump it on.
At least contains the situation I.
Bought well, for I showed you for, for my, my lifting batteries for my drills and stuff.
I, I'm not taking the risk anymore.
I went to Bunnings and bought the, the explosion and fireproof case. You know, our bags, let's put
them in there and zip them up or zip them up.
But like, you know, Velcro them, shot and put them in, put them away underneath something. So yeah, I just, yeah.
I I keep in mind the flammable stuff.
Yeah, because I'm like, you know, if it's happening, it's going to happen. Well, I'm not half assing this
way. Make sure they all burn so I've
got the Tesla between. Right next to my my battery, my
solar battery as well. So like, you know, it's going to
be a big one. So so my Tesla's right between
an AMC63 AMG, a brand new Amarok, a Mustang 100,000 dollar 300SE, and my XR6 and then I've got the Harley right next door so all of it's just going to burn put.
It outside and I'll put it off. Imagine that insurance claim.
Yeah, not a good time. Not a good.
Time I just cover mine with asbestos.
Yeah. Good stuff.
Yeah, works well. Works well.
I'm. A blanket.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, mate, yeah.
Asbestos blanket and there's asbestos particles a blast over it. So yeah, you won't die then, but
you'll die later at that. You later, at least I know it
stops the fire, so yeah. Absolutely score check Gentleman
from the car quiz. All right, all right, no one
cares anymore. We're starting talking about.
Stuff Rob 2 1/2, LM three and tonight's a winner on a grand total of what's that, 4 1/2. Yeah, stop bragging.
Even though I chose 200 deaths on Mount Panorama.
Stop bragging mate, no one cares.
Wasn't too bad, it was pretty close actually, it was it.
Was it was a close one, It was. Close.
What quiz? I don't remember a quiz.
Yeah, Rob, you're on a quiz, I think.
We were talking about price hikes and things I think car batteries don't. Know what you guys are talking
about? Yeah.
What? What is this?
What is that? I love Rob immediately, you
know, change the topic. You guys, you guys kill me.
But General, I think that's a podcast.
Yes, it is. Thank you to our insurance
companies. If you're listening, Rob has not
parked his his Tesla near any of those cars and.
If he has, it's his right to do that.
And Alan has not put his his lithium battery.
Is there anything? Else you must solve the battery
system. Put the batteries together
right? You got a pucky car to your
eyes. Yeah.
Yep, Yep. And the battery system goes in
the garage. You can't help it.
We'll put it this way, he's how someone's burned down from my Ltd. So that's.
No, it didn't. I drilled the hole.
I drilled the hole pretty quick and I put it out.
But I, I would have loved to have seen the video footage of you just shitting your pants. You're like oh God I would have
loved old. Calm ass, I go.
Oh, it's pretty bad, Scar. It's alright.
So my car was your bloody house. I was thinking about ohh, sure a
little bird, but I go ohh. You got it for free anyway.
You well, I wanna got some money, but you just should have like put it down on the horses, roll it into the middle of the street and a little. Bit.
I think we now, I think we took the wheel off or something and we were doing something else or I can't remember what we were doing. So we're stuck on the horse.
You're like, oh, stuck. On the brakes, that's what we're
doing, the brakes. We're doing the brakes or
something. Oh.
That's right, I. Feel like no, I can't sacrifice
my house for Matt, you know, giving a payday.
Yeah, just because your house burnt, Maddie.
Yeah, that's, that's true. That's true.
They they call me Damien for a reason, gentlemen.
The fire starter. Oh mate.
But anyway, look, we'll do some plugs.
