NHRA drag racing is organized by the National Hot Rod Association and features straight-line acceleration contests. The transcript’s later references to nitro and Pro Modified connect this to the show’s drag-focused content.
IndyCar is a top-level open-wheel racing series in the U.S., typically featuring road courses, street circuits, and ovals. It’s mentioned here to broaden the show’s motorsports coverage beyond drag racing.
In “four wide” drag racing, four cars race at the same time instead of just two. It’s a bigger spectacle and can be harder to manage because everything is happening in parallel.
NHRA Nitro is drag racing where the cars run on nitromethane fuel. Those cars are built for extreme performance and they’re usually the loud, fast ones you see at NHRA events.
Car setup means adjusting the car so it performs best on that specific track. In drag racing, small changes can make a big difference in how well the car hooks up and launches.
“Ring seal technology” refers to piston-ring designs and coatings intended to improve how tightly the rings seal against the cylinder wall. Better sealing can reduce blow-by, stabilize combustion, and improve durability in high-stress racing use.
Piston rings sit on the piston and help keep combustion gases from leaking past. They also help control oil so the engine stays lubricated and runs properly.
They’re a company that writes insurance for race cars and gear. The host is saying you can get a policy that’s built for racing instead of having lots of restrictions.
Pro Stock is a type of drag racing where cars are prepared to compete under rules and race for elapsed time. It’s a very competitive class, so having a pro stock career implies serious driving and engineering experience.
A torque converter is what helps an automatic transmission get the car moving from a stop. For racing, the right one helps the engine rev where it makes power instead of bogging down.
A gasket is a seal between engine parts so combustion doesn’t leak. Composite gaskets are made from layered materials, and the host is comparing them to copper gaskets.
In bracket-style drag racing, you pick a target time. If you go quicker than your target, you can “break out,” which often means you lose even if you crossed the finish line first.
Term
dial-in / "1090"
In bracket racing, you choose a target time before the run. The “1090” is likely that target, and the host is talking about how close they were to it.
“Killing” the run usually means backing off before the finish so you don’t run too fast compared to your target. It’s a strategy to stay within the rules for bracket racing.
Term
yellow bulb
A “yellow bulb” sounds like a warning light or indicator lamp. If it’s not showing up, it can mean the light is out or a system isn’t reporting correctly.
Concept
Patreon co-host
This just means the podcast is involving a supporter (via Patreon) to join the conversation. It’s about how the show is organized, not a car topic.
The Hyundai Santa Cruz is a small vehicle that looks like an SUV but has a truck-like bed in the back. It’s designed for carrying items while still being easy to drive day to day. You might hear it mentioned when someone talks about what they drive or where they’re going.
Stock car racing is based on cars you could buy, but modified for racing. Oval tracks are the big loop-style tracks where you mostly turn one direction.
Topic
Shasta
Shasta is a race track near Reading, California. For drag racing, the track surface and preparation can change how well cars get traction.
A “quarter mile” track is a drag-racing distance where cars accelerate over roughly 1,320 feet (about 402 meters). The short distance makes traction, launch, and acceleration feel especially important.
This sounds like a racing championship made up of many events over a season. Doing well repeatedly—like finishing near the front—usually matters a lot.
“Phoenix” here refers to racing at Phoenix Raceway, a well-known NASCAR-style oval track in Arizona. The hosts discuss how the track is run with “cup cars” and the experience of racing there.
“Cup cars” usually means the kind of race cars used in NASCAR’s top series. When someone says they were around Cup cars, they’re basically saying it felt like being near the top-level NASCAR equipment.
A “shortcut” on an oval track usually means taking an alternate line or cutting across a section of the course rather than following the standard racing groove. Drivers often describe it as disorienting because the car can feel unsettled and visibility can change when you’re off the usual racing surface.
ARCA West is a stock-car racing series where drivers compete in cars that are similar in spirit to NASCAR. It’s commonly used as a stepping stone to bigger, more competitive racing series.
Horsepower is a measure of engine power, and 700 horsepower indicates these stock cars are highly tuned for speed. In racing, higher horsepower helps with acceleration and maintaining speed out of corners, though it must be matched with gearing, tires, and aerodynamics.
Weight matters in racing because it affects how the car turns, stops, and speeds up. Around 3,300 pounds means these are heavy stock cars, so they need good tires and setup to handle well.
Banks Power is a company that makes performance parts and upgrades for vehicles. The driver is saying they’ll be working with the company this summer, which connects their racing passion to real performance work.
Vehicle dynamics is basically how the car “acts” when you drive it hard. It’s about grip and how the car responds when you turn, brake, and accelerate. Race teams adjust the car so it feels easier to control and faster to drive.
“Drive off the corner” means how you leave a turn. The faster way is to get the car pointed and stable so you can start accelerating sooner. If the car doesn’t feel planted, you have to wait to give it gas.
Acceleration is how quickly the car speeds up, but in racing it also depends on traction. If the tires can’t grip, the car won’t accelerate well even with lots of power. Setup changes can help the car put power down cleanly.
A track bar (also called a panhard bar in many setups) helps locate the axle and control side-to-side movement. Adjusting it changes axle centering and can affect handling balance, especially on uneven surfaces or during hard cornering.
They’re talking about a specific track called Kern and what it’s like to race there. It’s described as a short track with banking, which changes how you take turns and where the grip feels best. That affects both car setup and driving technique.
Seat time just means how much time you spend behind the wheel. The more you drive, the better you get at controlling the car and making good decisions during a race.
The “handstand on the car” is a celebratory stunt the speaker wants to do after achieving a first win. It reflects how drivers build personal rituals and fan-facing moments around race milestones.
The Chili Bowl is a well-known dirt-racing event. They’re saying they mostly race on asphalt, but they’d be open to trying dirt racing like the Chili Bowl.
Sprint cars are a kind of race car used in short-track racing. They’re usually fast and require aggressive driving, so it’s a different style than drag racing.
A “project” is a car you’re working on—fixing it up or upgrading it step by step. “Project Pontiac” just means the car is a Pontiac and the person is building or restoring it.
An enclosed trailer is a fully covered trailer used to protect a vehicle from weather while transporting it to events. For track weekends, it helps keep the race car cleaner and reduces exposure to rain, dust, and debris.
E1, E2, and E3 are the elimination stages—basically rounds where you have to win to keep going. By the time you reach semifinals and finals, only a few cars remain.
Sportsman drag is drag racing for regular competitors, not just the top pro level. You usually qualify first, then race head-to-head in rounds until finals.
An ice bath is just cold water immersion used to help your body feel better after a hard day. People do it to reduce swelling and muscle soreness so they can bounce back sooner.
Talladega refers to Talladega Superspeedway, a NASCAR track known for high speeds and pack racing. The segment discusses the race results and a major multi-car wreck, which is typical of the chaos that can happen at superspeedways.
A burnout is when the driver makes the tires spin while the car is stopped or moving very slowly. It’s often done for show (smoke/heat), but tracks may ban it if it’s unsafe or damages things.
Steve O’Donnell is being talked about like the person who enforces the rules. Even if celebrations are allowed, he’ll step in if the driver’s actions get unsafe.
Concept
driver celebration vs safety rules
They’re talking about how racing celebrations can be fun, but there are rules to keep everyone safe. If a celebration turns into a stunt that could cause an accident, officials may step in.
“Wheel was gone” sounds like the wheel came off the car. That’s dangerous because the car can lose control and parts can fly into the track area.
Concept
catch a beer
“Catch a beer” here is basically a stunt—trying to do something playful while the car is moving. It’s risky because if you fall or drop something, it can hurt you or other people.
Term
REM sleep
REM sleep is one of the deeper stages of sleep where your body and brain do a lot of recovery. The hosts are basically saying the best part of sleep is when you finally reach that stage.
Concept
safety system is going off
Modern cars have safety tech that watches what’s happening around you. If you get too close to something or behave in a risky way, it can beep or warn you automatically.
Topic
season standings
This is about who’s doing best over the whole season. Instead of only looking at one race result, they add up points from multiple races to rank everyone.
An electric car runs on electricity stored in a battery instead of gasoline. People debate them because charging, cost, and how “clean” they are can depend on where your electricity comes from.
Topic
Charlotte, North Carolina
They’re talking about Charlotte, North Carolina—an area that’s big in racing. Different tracks and events in different cities can feel very different.
Pro Mod is a drag-racing category for cars that are heavily modified to go extremely fast. In the final race, two cars compete directly, and if something breaks, it can end the run right away.
On a drag strip, there’s a starting light system. “Low teen lights” means the driver reacted really fast when the lights signaled the start, which can give them an early advantage.
If a front tire comes off, it usually means something failed at the wheel—like the wheel wasn’t secured properly or a part holding it together broke. It’s dangerous and it instantly ruins the run.
Trackside repairs between rounds are common in drag racing, especially in classes like Pro Mod where components can fail under heavy acceleration loads. Getting a “broken car” fixed quickly often determines whether the team can continue competing.
In drag racing, “first round” is the earliest elimination matchup. Whether something happened before or after it can change who advances and when the incident gets noticed.
NHRA TV is how people watch NHRA drag races on TV. If something goes wrong on track and the broadcast doesn’t explain it quickly, it can feel confusing.
A supercharger is a device that helps the engine make more power by pushing extra air into it. If it “seizes,” it means the moving parts get stuck and the unit can’t spin anymore.
In racing, “sportsmanlike” means you’re playing by the rules and not trying to cheat the process. It’s basically about fairness so nobody gets an advantage.
Concept
seized their blower because of the rain
This refers to pausing or delaying a team’s use of a supercharger (“blower”) due to rain and track conditions. In drag racing, weather can change traction and safety, so teams may be forced to wait or adjust their plan to keep runs fair and consistent.
The “ready line” is where cars have to be positioned and prepared before the race starts. If you’re not ready when it’s time, you usually don’t get to redo it.
Topic
wild race
They’re just talking about a really exciting race weekend. It’s more about the vibe and fun than about car tech.
“Top end” likely refers to the far end of the track or the upper section where cars run and where timing/spotting happens. In drag/strip-style events, people often position themselves at key points to capture action and interview participants.
Topic
outlaw street
“Outlaw Street” sounds like a specific race category with its own rules. It usually means the cars can be modified more than in stock-style classes.
The Chevrolet Nova is a car model made by Chevrolet. It’s known for being popular with people who modify cars for racing or performance. You might hear it mentioned because certain Nova builds became famous.
“Pro drag racing” is the more serious, organized level of drag racing. The big deal is that the events run on a plan—so you know when you’ll race and what the schedule looks like.
Concept
unlimited cars
“Unlimited cars” in drag racing usually means a class with fewer restrictions on what the cars can be or how they’re configured, compared with tightly regulated classes. In practice, that often leads to more extreme builds and a wider variety of vehicles competing.
Bracket racing is drag racing where you’re trying to hit a specific time you “dial in,” not necessarily the absolute fastest run. It’s a way to make races more about consistency and strategy than raw power.
An “eighth mile” is a shorter drag race distance than the quarter-mile. Because it’s shorter, the race can feel more about getting off the line quickly and accelerating fast right away.
IHRA is a group that organizes and governs certain drag-racing events. Think of it like the “rulebook and organizer” for those races.
Concept
offensive line
The offensive line is the group of guys up front who block for the rest of the offense. If they’re not good, the quarterback gets pressured and running the ball becomes harder.
A half Ironman is a big endurance race where you do three things: swim, bike, and run. It’s about a 1.2-mile swim, a 50–60 mile bike ride, and then a 13.1-mile run.
The Jeep Renegade is a small SUV made by Jeep. It’s meant to be practical for daily driving, but it can also be set up for rougher roads depending on the version. People may mention it when talking about a particular Renegade they have or a specific setup.
Gulf Stream Park is a well-known race venue in the U.S., best known for thoroughbred horse racing. In this segment, it’s mentioned as a place where many people will be for a horse race.
In F1, there are two main standings. One is for teams (constructors), where the team earns points based on how its cars finish, and the other is for drivers.
The Ferrari 456 M GT is a luxury sports car designed for long-distance driving. It’s meant to be fast and comfortable, not just for short trips. It may come up in a podcast when people discuss Ferrari models and racing or performance history.
F1 “rules changes” can include technical regulations (how cars are built) and sporting regulations (how races are run). Even small clarifications can affect car performance and strategy, which is why the hosts expect the changes to impact Mercedes and “everybody else.”
In F1, points are counted two ways: for each driver and for each team. That’s why the standings can look different depending on whether you’re looking at drivers or teams.
Energy harvesting is when a race car captures energy during slowing down and saves it for later. Instead of wasting that energy, the car can use it to go faster at another moment.
Concept
super clipping power
“Super clipping” sounds like a special boost setting in the rules. It changes how much extra power the car can get from its stored energy, so drivers and teams have to use it differently.
Race boost deployment is basically when the car is allowed to use its stored “extra power.” If the rules change when you can use it, overtakes and race strategy change too.
“Artificial overtaking” means passing that happens more because of rule-based boost tricks than because the car is truly faster. The hosts are saying the rules want to reduce that kind of passing.
Lifting and coasting means you ease off the gas and let the car slow down a bit without actively accelerating. In hybrid races, it can be used to save energy for later bursts.
Energy recharges in megajoules are basically how much “stored power” the car is allowed to refill. Dropping the limit from 8 MJ to 7 MJ means less total extra power available.
Topic
qualifying enhancements
Qualifying enhancements are rule changes that affect how fast cars can be in qualifying. That can change starting positions, even if the race rules are different.
Concept
350 kilowatts vs 250 kilowatts
They’re talking about how much extra power the car can use, measured in kilowatts. Increasing the limit from 250 kW to 350 kW means the boost can be stronger, which can change how easily cars pass.
In F1, the cars can get extra power from their hybrid system. The sport sets limits on how much extra power you can use and when, partly for safety. That way, cars don’t suddenly gain too much speed too quickly.
MGUK is the electric motor in an F1 hybrid system. When the race starts and a car isn’t accelerating well, the car can use that electric boost to help it get up to speed. That helps prevent crashes when cars behind don’t have enough time to react.
Tire blankets are heating devices used to bring F1 tires up to operating temperature before they’re used in a session. “Extreme” blanket temperatures can change how quickly tires reach grip and how stable they are once the car is on track. That can influence safety-related decisions like limiting hybrid deployment or adjusting what tires are appropriate.
ERS is the hybrid energy system in F1. It stores energy (often from braking) and then uses it to give the car extra push. If conditions are slippery, the rules can limit how much of that extra push the driver can use.
Intermediates are a Formula 1 tire compound designed for wet or damp conditions—more grip than slicks, but not as much as full wet tires. The transcript links tire temperature (“tire blanket temperatures”) and grip to how ERS deployment and strategy are managed. This is important because tire performance changes quickly with temperature and track conditions.
They’re talking about how Formula 1’s race schedule for 2027 is getting set. The order of races can change a lot of planning for teams, like travel and when they can test and prepare.
A “season opener” is the first race of the Formula 1 season. It’s significant because it sets the competitive baseline for teams and drivers and can influence early championship momentum.
They mention the Australian Grand Prix because it may no longer be the first race of the season. Changing when it happens can affect how teams plan their logistics and preparation.
They’re saying Bahrain could host the first race of the F1 season. Being early in the schedule means teams get their first real test of performance sooner.
This is a drag-racing event in Australia. They’re saying the Sydney race has a big number of cars entered, similar to another major event called the Winter Nationals.
“Top Sportsman” is a drag-racing class/category for production-based cars that run in a bracketed competition format. It typically groups cars by performance potential rather than being a single specific model, so entry counts and class size matter for the competitiveness of the field.
In drag racing, an E.T. slip is the paper you get that shows how fast the car went. It usually tells you the elapsed time (how long it took to cover the track).
Morris Motorsports sounds like a racing team. Teams like this help get the cars ready and run the program at the track.
Concept
baptism with Nitro
It’s a playful phrase for someone’s first real taste of nitro drag racing. Usually it means they got to experience the sights and sounds when the nitro car is running.
Term
throttle wax
“Throttle wax” is a nickname people use for a trick or product meant to make the throttle feel sharper. The goal is usually better, more consistent launches.
This is a drag racing training program run by Frank Holley. The idea is to teach you how to drive a drag car and what to do at the track so you can do it safely.
A dragster is a race car built for drag racing—basically, going as fast as possible in a straight line for a short distance. It’s not meant for normal commuting; it’s built around racing.
Summit Racing is a well-known store for car parts and tools. Racers often use their catalog or website to find performance parts.
Company
Fogget
Fogget sounds like a product the show is advertising. They’re basically saying it’s useful for cleaning or maintenance, not explaining anything about a car part in this moment.
Redline is a brand of synthetic motor oil commonly used by performance and enthusiast drivers. The mention suggests the show is acknowledging a sponsor and/or recommending oil for engines that see spirited use.
This sounds like a company that tunes cars by adjusting the engine computer settings. They’re being mentioned because the show hopes their driver does well this weekend.
A torque wrench is a special wrench that tightens bolts to a precise setting. That helps keep everything secure without overtightening or under-tightening.
FTI is a company that makes or upgrades automatic transmission parts for performance cars. The goal is usually to make the drivetrain handle more power and work better under hard driving.
Wilkins Racing Engines is a racing-focused engine builder. They’re talking about how engine design details—like sealing and combustion—can make a big difference on track.
Combustion is how the engine burns fuel to make power. Better combustion means the engine turns fuel into energy more efficiently and can run more reliably when you’re driving hard.
Topic
Charlotte is a great race
They’re talking about a race in Charlotte and how it’s a good event. It’s more about the schedule/trip than car tech.
“Drag race famous” describes a kind of local celebrity that happens within the drag racing community. At tracks, regulars and competitors can become recognizable, and that fame may not translate to the general public outside the event scene. It’s a social dynamic unique to motorsports communities where people follow specific cars and drivers.
They’re talking about a Ford Mustang setup they call “Emod.” It’s probably a drag-racing class or build style, not just a regular Mustang trim. The host’s message is: don’t underestimate that Mustang configuration.
Why do we all like Hennie Damlin so much? It's why does that make us laugh?
It's sexy. You don't read it first. You pronounce it wrong.
Hennie Damlin. I love it. So let's see.
I get back to my page here. Let's get back to the page.
Bobby Graham's getting back to the page.
Bobby, you didn't call my name in the top 10 this week.
I'm sorry. You didn't make the top 10 this time.
That can't be Bobby. You must have the wrong standing.
Well, I'm going to give you the season standings here.
I just wanted to make sure you were never on your part, Bobby.
I'm afraid not. I don't think my name ends up in it either.
Because last week we were all tied for seconds.
Yeah, we're four of us. That was for the race though. That wasn't season standings.
All right. All right. Season standings. Here's one. 365 party girl.
She is 211 points ahead.
She goes, hey, Hennie Damlin gets me every time, says me.
Second place, Bullswool. Third place, team 12. Fourth place, be like Biff.
Fifth place, Nitro A.J. Sixth place, Olson's Dad Trailblazers.
Seventh place, Gabe Killian, 518.
Where'd it go, Gabe?
Eighth place, Zamboni John.
All right.
Ninth place, Noodles.
Tommy.
And 10th place, Royal Flash Racing.
And I'm sorry, G.O., you did not show up in the top 10.
I didn't watch this. I'm only 14th this week.
Epic failure.
Now our biggest winner of the week is Zamboni John. He's up seventh places.
He's down in, like I said, eighth place.
I was wondering, where's the key chain?
Our biggest losers this week is two people tied with down seven places.
And that's PT 14, our former winner, and D-Rail, who's been doing so good here lately.
D-Rail.
D-Rail.
D-Rail.
Epic fail.
And G.O. is down to two places.
No pun intended.
And that's our scores for the week.
Good job.
Good job.
All right.
Nice job.
So I know that on the Drag Race Brack of Anans at the Pits podcast won the week.
I thought I was doing pretty good until I wasn't.
But I see Sacramento Racing Fan is on board.
We are still on the stopwatch, Sue.
As you know, it's very significant tonight.
We're going to try to be on the stopwatch.
And so we'll check in real quick with Sacramento Racing Fan to find out how his walk for charity is going.
Do you want to see?
Oh, can you hear me?
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me real quickly?
Am I good?
Yeah, I'll go to Kevin while you get those up.
Okay, for the race, I'm going to give it a top five.
Bob Z was a winner for the Nisles.
Yes.
Second place, AS3.
Third place, Jambo.
Fourth place, Sands Gallbladder.
He went through a lot to get that name.
Yeah, I don't know what is that all about?
Chucky won.
It was in fifth place.
Now, and this is the Drag Race Bonanza board.
Now our season standings, top five there.
If we have some people here, we got Super Street 5345, first place for the season.
I build second place.
AS3 is in third place.
Look at here.
Fourth place, Bug Barn.
Bobby.
And fifth place is James Luz, too.
A little letter is getting smaller in fifth place.
Now, our WFO League, do that real quick so we can get there.
Bobby is so savvy with his computer stuff.
He's doing awesome.
It's a savvy computer guy.
Guys, don't forget to write a review.
Click the bell, all that.
All right, for the race itself, top five.
Let's see.
Well, this is for the season.
For the season, WFO podcast is first place, Super Street 5345.
Second place, Obi.
Third place, BKNHR1.
Fourth place is Dave.
Fifth place is Chad.
And that's our top five in the WFO League for the season.
I'm sorry.
We go from the fancy, Dave says.
Dave, Dave, Dave, Dave, Dave, Dave, Dave.
Good job, Bobby.
Excellent work.
Excellent work.
All right.
Now to Sacramento Racing fan for his update on his charitable walk.
Hello, folks.
My walk is a week from Saturday.
So the Saturday of the, don't race.
Is that going to be, I don't know.
We're off that weekend.
We are off that weekend.
It's nine, it's nine May.
It's the, it's a Saturday morning.
It's a five K walk.
So that's what three, three miles or so.
So far, my donations are coming in not as fast as I, they have been,
but I really need your support.
And I know it's a subject that people don't like to talk about,
but it's definitely a subject that affects every one of us,
whether we think we're healthy and mentally healthy or not.
We have friends and family.
Nobody dies of suicide without some kind of mental health issue.
So it's to me, it's just a worthwhile exposition for me to get out and do some
good that for people, I need to do some good so that other people can do some good.
So I appreciate all your help.
WFO audience has always stepped up in the past.
And I would appreciate any, any help at all.
No donation is too small.
We're going to drop the link in the WFO group on Facebook group that has been,
I think really heating up as a good, fun place to discuss debate, to hear the news.
I can tell you, I've been just sharing a lot of stuff in there
and other people have been sharing a lot of stuff in there.
So we will put the group in there and friends,
like let's, let's invite some people in this group.
Okay.
The WFO Facebook group is turning into something.
A lot of discussion, a lot of cool photographs, a lot of people,
you know, somebody is tacking the electric car the other day, the electric over yet.
We can talk a little bit about that.
And everyone jumped is, you know, like I don't, I don't want it to get nasty though.
That guy's allowed to hate electric cars.
He's allowed to.
But in the end, we're going to put the link there, Kevin.
Thank you very much.
I appreciate it.
We'll put it there, but I'll amplify it and we'll make sure that you have some time.
Thank you very much, Joe.
And yeah, just the race was crazy, man.
Yeah, it was good.
It was good.
People like, I hate the far wide.
You may have noticed last week on Nitro, I didn't even mention it was four wide.
I didn't talk about four wide.
I decided to just not even like say four wide, you know, this is the four wide.
Just it's another race.
That was the way I just say it.
Z max.
Yeah. Z max.
Charlotte, North Carolina.
Didn't even write the word four wide because there's like some people that are
doing like I hate the four wide.
Got it, man.
Got it.
You don't like it.
That's fine.
But you know, it's going to happen and you don't have to say you don't like it.
Every time it happens, you could just not like it because at some point it becomes annoying.
Once a year.
You don't have to make that statement every time.
You don't like it.
So you're crying and still crying wolf thing, right?
Yes.
You know, I don't like spaghetti looks, man.
You got, we got it.
You don't have to have the spaghetti.
Go do something, but I don't like spaghetti.
Fine.
There's other tracks.
Go to another track.
But this was a great crowd and great racing and great outcomes.
The final rounds in every class.
How about that promod final?
It was insane.
Everybody had like low teen lights.
Stavrinos got the job done.
Matt Hartford drove his ass off.
Yes, he did.
Outran Greg Anderson, a couple of quads in a row.
Ron Caps who's going to be on the show tomorrow just threw one down in the final.
That was a big run right there.
And then Doug Coletta 342.
How about Sean Lang then his front tire falls off pretty much the wheel.
The hind breaks on the steering.
I was right there for that guys.
I was so close.
I just interrupt Galvin.
It broke.
I was looking at the front tire.
I was watching the tire turn when it broke.
And I just turned on the mic.
Yeah, Galvin.
He was about to announce some other kind of emotional thing.
And I had to interrupt it because it's like we got a broken car down here.
And all of a sudden, but they were able to get it fixed.
The thing that happened after first round.
I see Bobby Bennett's got a story up.
I haven't seen the story.
I don't know how that played to the world.
After first round or before first round?
Before first round.
Like when the rain came.
When the rain came.
And yes.
And the Tony Schumacher car seized.
Seized up.
Yep.
How did that play on NHRA TV?
Like did it seem as confusing as it was?
Oh yeah, for sure.
There was no information.
Galvin was doing his best.
But there wasn't really much information to put out the people.
And everybody just kind of standing there watching everybody argue.
And it is what it is.
I understand the rule.
Well, the thing is the NHRA, I haven't talked to Mike Rice about it.
But I'm confident to say he was doing his due diligence
to get everybody's story to make sure that we weren't about to screw over somebody.
That's all.
Like when and why did the supercharger seize?
Was it seizing already?
Was it seized on its own?
Was it seized because we did something?
Like I just think he wanted to talk to Jim O.
And he wanted to talk to everybody.
And that took longer.
It did.
It took long.
And those guys on the starting line, Bobby and everybody and Mike Green,
whether they would ever admit it or not,
they got adrenaline flowing through their veins.
They want a race.
And it's a different like feeling time.
And so they were getting annoyed that it was taking too long.
And you know, how long is the right amount of time for getting it right?
Well, yeah.
And the other thing is is they found out they did go back to the to the trailer
and the supercharger was off.
So they called, you know, they were like, they're not going to make it back up.
So I think at the end, they made the right the right call.
It was you did see Kevin, as you pointed out, you know, you saw Lugano, Bobby Lugano.
You saw, you know, all the different, all the crew chiefs were, you know,
watching out Johnson.
I mean, all of them just getting the emotion.
You were reading, reading body language and facial expressions.
And because you couldn't really tell what they were saying,
but there was a lot of emotion going on.
So I was right in the middle of it.
And I don't know if I did a good job or a bad job.
But I was just trying to report the tide of what was happening like Grubnick,
in my opinion, was just really wanting to make sure we didn't do something
that wasn't sportsman like and just go when Jim O and those guys could maybe
made the run if we seized their blower because of the rain, that wouldn't have been fair.
And so Grubnick, what I gathered from it, like I thought Grubnick was just trying
to make sure we were fair and they ended up losing.
They didn't get through the quad.
Mike Green, those guys were like, Hey, man, it's the ready line.
Like even if it is, they're not ready.
You don't you don't get to go back and fix your deal.
Now they did the thing with Sean Langdon because they were they nobody had fired yet.
Nobody did a burnout yet.
Nobody fired up the cars and nobody did a burnout yet.
So and that was the difference.
And after that, I don't know who it was.
I think it was Brian Houston looked over to Bobby, Bobby, thank you.
And Bobby's like, you know, tip of the cap, like no problem.
Like there is sportsmanship out there.
And that's what I wish everybody could see.
And I kind of had my mic open a lot of the time.
So if you were following me, you could probably hear a lot of stuff that you couldn't.
But at sometimes I shut it off when it was getting like personal,
if there was any kind of, you know, profanity going out just in case.
But anyway, wild race, fun race, super excited.
I was down on the top end, got to interview all the sportsmen, had a blast.
That's a great race, Joe.
Were you on Fox?
I was not on Fox.
Because I noticed you had a Fox mic, mic clip thing or whatever.
I did have the Fox mic clip, but no, I was not on Fox.
I was just down at the top end.
And because what happened?
We had right trailers outlaw street for the very first time.
And all our new friends, Ryan Martin and Murder Nova.
All right.
I listen to those guys real quick, 10 seconds, because I know we're on the clock.
Gio just gave me the signal like, dude, you're going too long.
Nice guys.
What a difference a week makes from last week.
It was like, I wonder what it's going to be like.
I don't know how's it going?
The promotion, the this, the that to now it's happened and it's over.
I believe total success, the videos and content we put out on social.
A lot of people watched them.
Those guys, Scott Taylor, everybody were gentlemen.
They were nice.
They were appreciative.
They were cool.
They murder Nova staging up a junior dragster at the end of the night.
That was the scene that I'll remember.
Like he, he loved it like, wow.
And you know what they loved the most?
The structure, the schedule, the structure and the schedule, which is when people talk
about NHRA and whatever, pro drag racing, half of the deal is like the structure and the schedule.
You know, Matt, we're talking about running at this time or that time.
But at least you know when you're going to run and they're not going to move you up five hours.
Like you, you can pretty much count around that time.
So I think it was a great success.
All right, let's go to sports again real quick.
Are they coming back at another race?
They have three races.
They have three more races.
They got a whole championship.
Yeah, awesome.
Yeah, they're going to do it was great.
You know, it's, and it's different than pro mod.
It's a different kind of thing.
These are unlimited cars.
Yeah, but it's drag racing, Joe.
This is what I don't get, you know, not to get too winded, but it's drag racing,
whether you're at your local track, whether you're at a bracket race,
whether you're an IHRA event, you know, eighth mile, it's still drag racing, man.
And fans of drag racing need to, you know, let other, you know, it's a drag racing thing.
You need to, you know, anyway.
I get what you're saying.
All right.
Giovanni in Miami, sports collision.
All right.
All right.
Well, you tell me on the sports collision.
I guess this week was weekend started Thursday.
We discussed it Monday.
The NFL draft, baby.
And I don't know if you got any glimpse of what was going on there,
but they were out in Pittsburgh over there at the Yinsers stadium,
at Ackershire stadium in the parking lot.
I don't know if you saw that, but there was apparently 320,000 people there.
Can you believe that crap?
Did you get a glimpse of that?
I did.
I saw it.
It looked like a mass of humanity, a wave of humanity.
But what the hell are 320,000 people doing out on a Thursday night?
Hanging out just to watch Kedogo.
And with the second pick, the New York Jets are going to pick somebody
that's not going to be on their team in three years.
It's a party, man.
It's a party.
I mean, I'll honestly, man.
Well, next year is in DC.
Obviously the 15 year old, the first thing he asked is, are they coming here?
I want to go.
Give it time.
But anyhow, yeah, no.
Now that the draft is no longer just in New York City at a Radio City Music Hall,
it is now a mobile thing and each team gets to bid on it kind of like the Super Bowl.
It's, you know, wow, it was just crazy.
I can't believe that.
It was a record 320,000 people on Thursday night only.
Apparently they claim to have had over half a million people over the,
or almost 800,000 or something over the four three day event.
But I mean, you know, I don't know how they count that.
People just being out in the open and I believe it's free anyhow.
But the draft man, Fernando Mendoza, the local boy here from Miami, Columbus High,
right down the street where a bunch of Grayson's friends and former teammates
do still go to high school was the number one picked by the Las Vegas Raiders.
And hopefully he is going to go to be their quarterback savior.
And we'll see after that.
It was just a flurry of picks.
How do you feel?
Everybody's got a different opinion about their team.
Nobody really thinks that their team, you know, well, except probably Jets fans,
they know, they know that, that even though they picked guys that you would think appear
to be talented, that, you know, the Jets always find a way to do Jets things.
But Sue's Eagles, like they picked up a replacement for their soon to be departed
Diva wide receiver, AJ Brown and Joe, the Miami Dolphins.
What say you about the local team here?
It seems like the new regime really quickly wore out their their welcome around here.
They wanted Bain.
Everybody wanted Bain.
And I understand it and I kind of did too.
But, you know, drafts will be graded down the road.
I think of Keith Sims and Richmond Webb and Dolphin's greatness.
Having a strong offensive line is very significant.
We haven't had one.
And so it all depends, right?
We'll have to just wait and see if these guys turn into
stalwart offensive linemen that are a cornerstone of a team that develops into a Super Bowl champion,
then it was a great draft.
And if these guys aren't on the team in two years because they couldn't make it to the NFL,
then it sucked.
But I would have liked Bain with that.
Obviously, you can't really judge this thing for three to five years.
Right.
But yeah, I just think it was a big missed opportunity by the new regime to to really
garner some some well, you know, some good will around here.
Some good will, right?
And excite the local community and sell some tickets and all of that.
But they are maybe more, more offensive minded folks, you know, and that's a defensive pick.
Yeah.
Look, I just knowing seeing this guy now for years here, he's a local boy born in Miami,
went to Miami Central High School, then spent the last three years here at the University of
Miami.
We have seen him dominate.
You know, we've seen these kind of guys come up through here before.
And he's not one of these that you look at him and he's like this, you know, the the workout
guy that's a giant specimen that he checks every box of height, weight, measurables,
you know, speed.
No, on the contrary, he's kind of a little bit undersized by, you know, the standard.
And the big knock is that his arms are about, you know, almost three quarters of an inch
shorter than the desired length.
But man, one thing I'll tell you is that what they breed down here is football players
that don't necessarily fit the mold.
But these guys are football players.
We've seen it before, man.
And the dolphin missed out on a war and sap many, many moons ago.
Yeah.
And and, you know, over the years, there's been a hand, a lot of guys like that, that they just
passed on local guys that we saw them here and just, you know, they didn't have all the
measurables.
Ed Reed is another guy that comes to mind.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And so I just, I'm a little disappointed because I think it would have been a good pick
locally.
I would have made the pick too.
Like that's the thing.
I would have made the pick.
And the thing of that is it's another offensive line.
I mean, that's what the dolphins have been drafting for 20 years and they still suck at it.
And so, yeah.
But the draft, man, it was great.
And like I said, next year, it'll be in DC.
So the DMV is getting ready.
And that's what's going on.
And the NFL world, the NBA and NHL playoffs are in full swing.
We didn't really get too much last week.
I think they had both just started and the NBA was like blowouts by all the favorites
in game one.
But now after a week, things have kind of, the dust has settled, sort of speak.
And the cream has risen to the top, basically.
The Thunder got a three nothing lead on the Suns.
The Lakers are a little bit surprising.
Have a three one lead on the Rockets without Luca and Reeves.
LeBron has been able to singlehandedly bring the Lakers on.
But the Rockets are a mess.
The Nuggets are down three games to one now to the Timberwolves.
And the Timberwolves lost their star, Anthony Edwards, to a knee situation.
Apparently serious damage was avoided and no actual knee ligament tear.
But he's going to be out a couple of weeks.
San Antonio Spurs are up three to one on the Trailblazers.
No surprise there.
Wemby is being Wemby like.
Wemby also won the defensive player of the year.
First time ever unanimous defensive player of the year winner.
And yeah, he's a bit freakish if you watch him.
But he also did take a face plant in game two all awkwardly and got concussed himself
and missed game three, but he did come back in game four.
There's really only a couple of series and they're both in the east that are
that are actual competitive series.
The Cavs and the Raptors are tied at two.
And the Knicks and the Hawks are also tied at two after four games.
And so both of those game fives will be two Wednesday and Thursday this week.
And then the Celtics are up three games to one on the Sixers.
No doubt there.
The big news there is Joel and Bede finally came back after being injured for who knows how long
I guess his whole career.
Anyhow, that's just going on in the NBA.
In the NHL, we've got two teams already advanced to the next round.
Both number one seeds to Colorado, Avalanche beat the Kings in a sweep.
And the Carolina Hurricanes took out the Ottawa Senators also in a four nothing sweep.
Besides that, we've got a series.
Minnesota and the Dallas, the Stars in the Wild are tied at two.
The Vegas Golden Knights are in danger of going down three to one tonight against the Mammoth.
The Oilers are down three games to one.
The team that went to the cup finals last year against the our Florida Panthers.
And they're the greatest player in the world.
Connor make overrated and the Oilers down three to one to the Ducks.
Very surprising there.
The Oilers were the two seed.
The Sabres are up three one in the Bruins.
The Lightning and the Canadians are tied to two.
They played a good series.
Those are our seem to be on all the time.
A bunch of games going to overtime there.
And the final one is the Philadelphia Flyers were up three to one on the Penguins.
And tonight is game five.
And I can report that that is three to two Penguins after two start of the third.
So the Flyers got to try and see if they could get that win.
If not, they're going to have to go back to Philadelphia for game six up three to two.
And that is the NHL report.
And I want to quickly touch MLB.
The season is quickly approaching the 20% mark.
But the big news over the weekend is that the Boston Red Sox have fired Alex Cora.
If you had Cora on the first manager to be fired, you win the bingo.
And I really did not.
I know the Red Sox were off to a pretty terrible start.
But Alex Cora and his 2018 World Series win.
You would have thought would have been able to keep them there.
But my guess is that with Craig Breslow being in charge there now,
there was some sort of power struggle.
And clearly Cora is out.
And because it wasn't just Cora, it was his entire coaching staff too.
So yeah, Alex Cora and the Red Sox fired.
Maybe the Yankees can hire him.
Yeah, can we get him?
Then we get him.
And a couple of things that we don't really talk too much about.
The marathon, Sebastian Saw ran the London Marathon this weekend in under two hours.
One hour, 59 minutes and 30 seconds.
That's like a world record or something.
Yeah, two guys actually ran it in under two hours.
And some guy didn't.
That is correct.
Well, you know, when you're the second guy and sorry, you know, he didn't, you know, it just.
No one had ever done before and lost.
Like it's like.
Right.
And by the way, that was the guy who came in second.
That was his first marathon ever.
Wow.
And so yeah.
So by the way, 159.30 is an average of 433 per mile.
As someone who goes out there and walks and at most can do about two miles and about 28 minutes.
I'm telling you, that is hauling the mail, my friend for 26 miles.
Unbelievable.
Say that again, because I walk a mile and a little over a mile in like 18 minutes.
Right.
Well, he's doing 433 per mile.
Running for 26 miles.
That's crazy.
Wow.
Yeah.
Oh, we're 33.
Remember the four, the four minute mile was the thing.
Yeah.
And so he's running four and a half minutes per mile for 26 of those suckers.
That's yeah.
Unbelievable.
Yeah, move on.
It's making me uncomfortable.
Yeah, just real quick.
My son at the end of August, I believe it is, is going to do a half iron man up in Lake Tahoe.
They start with a mile and two tenths swim in Lake Tahoe.
Then they bike either 50 or 60 miles and then they run a half marathon 13.1.
All in one day.
Crazy.
Crazy.
Well, I can do 10 push-ups.
Oh, I can't.
Hey, and before we get out, since we are a big advocate of women and women's sports here,
today something I believe, I'm not sure.
I think it was today because I saw the news, but it might have been yesterday.
Olivia Pichardo did something that very historic and never done before.
She played, she is a female.
She became the first woman to play in a baseball, in a baseball game, in a division one baseball game.
She plays for the Brown University Bears on the men's team.
She's a pitcher and she closed out the game.
She came in and struck out the last player of the game.
Wow.
Oh, that's impressive.
First woman to pitch in a division one baseball game.
And what was the guy's name who struck out?
I lost my balls.
That's irrelevant here, man.
It's all about Olivia, man.
We need to know his name.
We need to know his name.
He ripped it off probably real quick if he had it somewhere on his uniform.
All right, we were on the stopwatch.
We got a good going, guys.
Good job, good collision.
That's also known as that guy.
Saturday in Kentucky Derby, coming up on Saturday, first Saturday in May.
Let's not forget about that.
Renegade, four to one, trained by Todd Pletcher.
Commandments, six to one, trained by Brad Cox.
Further ado, six to one, trained by Brad Cox.
Chief Wallaby, eight to one, trained by Bill Mott.
And the Puma, 10 to one, trained by Gustavo Delgado,
are the top betting contenders as of the...
Chief Wallaby.
You got it right here.
You heard it here.
Chief Wallaby.
You like Chief Wallaby?
Yep.
Okay.
All right.
The last four winners had exactly 35 days of rest,
favoring horses that raced last on March 28th.
That's a pick.
A couple of suggested Renegade.
You know, everyone's using AI.
Whatever.
Well, yeah, we see the favorite is always, you know, a big...
And to tie it all together, it's a big weekend in Miami sports
because Formula One is here.
Formula One is back.
Formula One rules changes have been announced.
We should talk a little Formula One here,
but I would normally be going to the Gulf Stream for the Kentucky Derby
with Paulie the White Guy, and we have like kind of tradition kind of thing.
We get a table in the like Champions Club area,
place wagers all day and smoke cigars and whatnot.
Don't even like cigars.
Just do it.
Just do it.
I'm not doing any of that.
No Formula One.
No Kentucky Derby.
None of that.
Because...
No Derral?
No Derral Golf Tournament, PGA at the Derral Trump Tournament.
All these things that we typically do.
That's just for everybody who doesn't understand South Florida.
All that stuff is happening on the same weekend in the same little town,
right?
A PGA Golf Tournament and Formula One happening on the same weekend,
same days in the same town.
And there'll be a bunch of people at the Gulf Stream Park for the horse race.
And obviously everyone will be at Formula One.
The Golf I Wonder.
The Golf I Wonder.
They I think they've made a big mistake by going up against Formula One,
but whatever we'll see.
I will be in Valdosta, Georgia, baby.
Southern Nationals NHRA first one flying Miami to Tallahassee.
I was wondering where you were flying into.
We have, it's either Tallahassee or Jacksonville.
Yep.
And from Jacksonville, it's like an hour and 40 minute drive from Tallahassee.
It's like an hour, 55 minutes, I think.
I did that when Bo and Randy Lynn had that Southern Sportsman showcase.
And I am excited.
I mean, I am a little bummed that I don't get to,
because Gio and I would have gone to Formula One on Friday.
We had that all figured out.
That's like $70 gate ticket.
And then you hanging out, you drop another 300 day drinking.
No big deal.
And then a couple of bucks at the, at the, at the store,
at the souvenir.
Yeah.
So you could get out of there one day for less than $500.
No big deal.
Right.
Maybe it's much better that I'm going to South Georgia Motorsports part,
but I'm very excited.
Any thoughts about Formula One?
Gio, I brought up the, the constructors points.
Mercedes leads Ferrari 135 to 90.
McLaren is third 46 Ferrari still in the mix.
But they need to find some speed and we'll see.
Yeah, we'll see what this new rules are, you know,
I guess a clarification does to the Mercedes and to everybody else.
And Kimmy Antonelli has got 72 to George Russell 63.
Charles is 49.
Lewis is 41.
And then Lando and Oscar are 25 and 21.
So it's points by driver by team Mercedes Ferrari McLaren.
And just that simple.
So do we have a list of the rules changes?
Do we have that somewhere of what they did?
We don't have it.
We don't have it.
Well, I did read that they were voted on the updates.
And it was a super majority had to vote all of these changes.
So these changes are, I just wish I knew what they were.
Let's see.
Yeah, everything I'm getting is like.
Yes.
Key changes include reducing maximum energy harvesting,
increasing super clipping power and modifying in race boost deployment.
It's aimed at reducing the quote artificial overtaking,
the lifting and coasting and the dangerous speed differentials.
According to ESPN article.
Good job ESPN.
That's all we need.
I like it.
There was what happened with Ollie Bierman was unsafe.
And you can't have 60 mile per hour differences.
And that is that.
All right.
Qualifying enhancements, maximum permitted energy recharges
reduced from eight megajoules to seven.
Oh my God, only seven megajoules.
Lessening the need for extreme lift and coast strategy.
The super clipping increase.
It says the power recovered doer super clipping,
which is charging while full full throttle has now been increased to 350 kilowatts.
Previously, it was only 250.
So that's a big boost.
Wow.
And then the race boost limits.
The maximum power boost is capped at plus 150 kilowatts to prevent extreme closing speeds,
restricting this to 250 kilowatts outside of the acceleration zones.
Some safety upgrades.
A low power start detection system would trigger automatic MGUK deployment for cars
with poor acceleration to prevent rear end collisions.
Are you all sure this is not iracing or real racing?
I love it.
Weather extreme tire blanket temperatures for intermediates
and reduced maximum ERS deployment or better grip.
Got it.
So there you go, man.
And I did see the rumor mill is saying that Australia will not be the first
race of the year next year, that it will be what Bahrain will take the place of Australia
as the first race of the 2027 season in Formula One.
If only we had an Australian reporter who could confirm or deny that.
Possibly.
We don't know what this will be like in the middle of war zones.
Yes, man.
I haven't heard that one, sir.
I haven't heard any of that.
You haven't heard.
See, I'm breaking news to you.
You know, the first thing it's broken up with is always the last to find out.
Right.
F1 2027 calendar Australia set to lose a season opener.
The Australian Grand Prix is not expected to be round one of the F1 2020 season
with Bahrain taking its place.
Melbourne has been the season over.
This is reported by Planet F1.
So let's just see how it goes.
You know, let's just see how it goes.
The early shape of the 2027 calendar is being formed by a combination of contractual
clauses, logistical patterns and the timing of Ramadan.
With the holy months later to conclude on March 7th,
it opens the door for Bahrain to resume its place at the very start of the
F1 calendar on March 14th.
It will mark the first time Bahrain has hosted the season opener since 2024,
et cetera, and so on.
Ramadan.
It depends if they stop checking bombs at each other as well, right?
Oh, my gosh, Matt.
We're on a time clock.
We're on a time clock.
No, no, no, no.
I just, I'm just saying, like, that's reality, right?
It's we.
We're the ones with checking bombs back and forth with the
Iranians or in a war.
Yeah, whoever.
You know, we just don't talk about that stuff on WFO because we're like,
that's why I just said, hey, they checking bombs at each other.
There's a lot of stuff out there that it tries to take away from us being light.
We are just keeping it light.
I wasn't trying to make it not light.
Matt is always trying to make it not light, guys.
I'm sitting.
I'm making it light.
I was ready in the beer.
Yes.
Yes.
All right.
Matt, I think you did your Australia report earlier as you told us about your racing,
but is there anything else that you want to add?
Yeah, well, ticket sales are through the roof this weekend.
It's probably the big thing.
They've gone to a second release of tickets already over 300 entries,
which might not seem a lot for you guys, but the biggest race outside of North America
is the Winter Nationals at Willow Bank in Queensland,
and that normally gets about 400 and 400 plus entries.
So we've cracked the 300 mark here at Sydney for a national event.
That's that's pretty huge.
26 in my class, top sportsman.
Excuse me.
It's a great field of top sportsmen cars, man.
That's great.
Yeah.
16 for the tree.
I mean, for the latter or 30.
They take the whole lot.
Yeah, no one misses out.
50 junior dragsters, which is just literally crazy.
They're coming from all all over.
Yes, I'm sorry.
Yeah, no, just we got to do it like Wednesday.
The children are our future.
That's that's there's a song for that.
Anyway, news on the grapevine that your ex-colleague friend AR is on the bird already, Joe,
on his way here flying in to Sydney, Australia.
And the big news for today, which I'm very disappointed he hasn't joined us.
It's Troy's birthday face down in the gutter.
Happy birthday, Troy.
Pretty good, Troy.
Happy birthday.
Another year or another trip around the sun.
That was nice having Troy back.
Troy, you know, comes up the gears in a good way.
It's good.
All right.
Yeah, the stopwatch stuff.
That's it.
That's it, Joe.
But, you know, we should take 15 minutes off this time because you had your,
you know, your little guest there at the start.
Andrew Chapman, our guest at the start.
Yeah, no, that's part of the show, man.
We can Sue and I, Sue's mom, 84.
So, uh, real quick, I'm about Sue and her mom and we get to final thoughts.
I just want to ask everybody in the WFO universe to take a moment and like a big
in through the nose out through the mouth, deep breath and try to channel the positive
vibes and energy and kind of, you know, send them to Matt in Australia.
Because when we see Matt go out there and do well, we want to empower him to have great
concentration.
And I think that Matt has got what it takes to go out there and do something
extraordinary and special this weekend.
Matt, we believe in you.
You're our guy down under and we are sending you positive energy.
Thank you.
Come on, mate.
WFO.
Run him down.
That was an angelic thing, Joe.
That was beautiful.
If I wanted to go into the field of religion and do very well conning people out of their
money about the afterlife, I would kill it.
I would kill it.
I wouldn't do that, people.
But man, I would be so good at it.
Remember that, uh, it's trying to keep this show in light, Joe.
I'm keeping it light.
Oh man.
We don't do too many reviews around here anymore.
But those of you that have HBO, righteous gemstones.
Yes.
Oh my goodness.
You're coming late to this show that has been out for like eight years,
but you found it.
I've seen some.
Oh my goodness.
Yes.
Very, very funny.
Yes.
Very funny.
Well, that Walter Droggins is in on this.
Oh yes, yes, yes, yes.
No, I know.
I know.
He wants to do a show.
I can't even say half the things that are really funny because-
Well, you can see none of it.
None of it is acceptable to this audience.
But yes, it is very funny.
Two million dollars.
Matt, good luck.
Oh, that's a great show, man.
Thank you, mate.
It's really that old day.
Turn on the wind, Walter.
It's a very old video.
I will catch you up.
It's very old.
Is there a stream available, Matt?
Is there a stream going to be available?
We don't know.
Maybe not.
Not sure, mate.
If there is, I'll see if I can post it.
There could be for Friday in qualifying and part of Saturday.
But when the pros come on, they normally switch it off because it's-
It goes live to a digital television channel down here.
Well, we really don't care about the pros.
I don't want to say that, but we don't.
We care about Matt.
And since you have nine hours in between your runs,
you'll have plenty of time to post your social media,
and then we'll amplify it and put it in the WFO group.
And like, you know, you don't have to go too crazy,
but like, what happened?
What are the results?
Post an E.T. slip.
Let's go.
Don't forget about Instagram.
Yeah, Instagram.
Instagram for soon.
Yeah, there it is.
That's Morris Papal.
I know it on the book.
Speaking of that, Morris Motorsports.
Barb, how did she like it?
What was the final report?
Oh, man.
You know, Mom got the full experience.
She even got a little baptism with Nitro
when we were walking around the pits and Proc was firing up.
And of course, then I filled her in.
I said, yeah, I said, the only thing that's missing,
Mom, was throttle wax.
So, but she was loving it.
She took in the whole thing.
And, you know, I had her go from pro stock motorcycle
all the way up the top fuel for the floor wides.
You know, her one disappointment, though,
is we were coming out for first round and we come up.
You know, I got past first round.
And unfortunately, Dave didn't.
But she's like, she's like, hey, hey, what happened?
I go, what do you mean?
I want, she goes, I was waiting for the prayer
and I was waiting for the national anthem.
And you just came out and started running.
I said, well, Mom, they don't do prayers
or national anthem for the sportsmen.
They just that's a that's a pro thing.
But she was just like, what the heck?
Right.
I am.
You know what?
She was she was a bit taken back on that one.
She's like, you know, she goes going out for first round
and no prayer, no national anthem.
I said, well, we're kind of used to it now.
So, you know, we say our own prayers.
Thank goodness for Grace's for Christ.
It just makes me more nervous anyway.
Well, good job.
No, I went in.
But no, she loved it.
She had a blast.
And yeah, it was it was cool to have her around.
And, you know, when Ma's there, you really want to kick button.
Fellowship.
But hey, it's all good.
What's that?
Randy, the video guy.
He wasn't there.
Was he the cameraman?
Yeah.
Randy was on camera six, not 22.
Okay.
How about me knowing that stuff?
But I didn't see Randy either until later in the day.
At the very end, I went back and I saw it.
And I saw Randy in the bar.
I was like, Randy, you're here.
He's like, yeah, I was on camera six.
So he was there.
Love, Randy.
We had a good guy.
I've talked to him a couple of times.
Joel at the top end and Jacob on the starting line.
And they were, they were, they were very good.
Big day.
Big day.
All right.
Final thought.
Bobby Graham, Bugmarn, you're still in your work clothes.
So it must have been a big day.
It was a busy day.
Every day is a busy day around here in retirement.
I do have some serious not to be on a downside,
but everybody watch your bank accounts close.
Watch your passwords close.
We got hit quite a few times this weekend.
Luckily, my wife checks hers at least two, three times a day.
So make sure you watch because they are on the move.
I've gotten emails about, well, your purchase didn't go through
because we didn't get all your numbers correct and so forth.
So everybody be careful.
Watch your stuff because there's a lot of that out there.
And that's what horns are wisdom.
Wow, Bobby.
I'm sorry that you have to go through that.
That is to me like some of the worst stuff.
And honestly, there's all these, again, keeping it light.
But if I think that our country could unify around a concerted effort
to curtail online scamming like that,
like that's something that really they could probably stop it.
You got to check your account three times a day
to make sure no one's stealing your stuff.
Like you might as well put it in the mattress then.
What's that all about?
It's risky out there.
That's terrible.
I'm sorry, Bobby.
Sorry you're going through that.
Well, that's what happened when nobody takes cash anymore.
Yeah, no.
Or checks.
Nobody takes cash anymore.
Now, some people, people take cash.
You know, we take cash, this guy.
Anyone of y'all, you feel free to send an envelope of cash
and I will happily just take it and receive it.
I will send it in a check.
Oh, yeah.
That takes cash.
Yeah, we take cash here.
Yeah.
You get this P.O. Box 848353.
I'm a fine.
It's no media WFL radio.
And I will send you some stickers in response.
You know, just and I'll buy the stamp.
If you put a bunch of cash in the out.
Don't have to do the stamp.
Stammer itself.
I'll give you a stamp.
You win a free to send me a bunch of cash.
Do you guys still have checks?
I write checks.
I actually do.
I write checks.
We don't know no more.
What do you mean?
The government killed off checks in Australia?
Yes, sir.
What?
Yeah, no checks.
Probably for a good two or at least three years.
I think I got a letter from our bank three years ago that said
we do not accept checks anymore.
Wow.
Wow.
Man.
Well, but you know, though, the other day I had to send a check to my aunt
and we didn't get there for a couple of days
and I was stressing big time.
I got to mail somebody a check and, uh, and you know,
no, she hasn't.
She doesn't have that.
She's 85 years old.
She does not have that.
She got a bank account.
You can send it directly to her bank account.
She is not set up for something.
But anyway, the next time we're going to do that,
but in this case, I fired off a check and I experienced how
unreliable it is to send a little piece of paper through the mail
through the hands of 50 people.
When you can do a digital transfer in 10 seconds like Zell.
So maybe checks are a bad thing.
Maybe it's time for that.
We kill them off.
Maybe you guys are ahead of us on purpose.
Maybe maybe trial and error with the little brothers and sisters.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's a final thought, man.
If you do send it out.
Well, my mom used to love giving checks to my daughters for their
birthday.
That was her thing is to write a check.
She still had it in mom and dad's, mom and dad's name, the account.
And that was her thing to write a check and sign it.
And on the back, write love from granny and grandfather.
So no more checks.
She just leaves it now or just gives cash.
There's a comment section on the Zell.
You could just write all that stuff in the comment section on Zell.
Yeah.
The girls don't look at that.
They just look at the money.
Take the cash, man.
Take the cash.
Don't write it on money.
That's my final thought.
Good job.
Good job.
Things new though.
Sacramento Racing fan, you already did your final thought, I think.
Correct?
Well, more or less.
Yeah.
I just need people to help me out.
It's a good cause.
Speaking of cash.
Give them the money.
Speaking of cash.
Well, it just has to be electronic transfer, but, you know, still it all works.
We're very moderate here at WFO.
We're very moderate.
I appreciate everybody's support too.
Thank you.
Yes.
And it'll be up in the group.
Giovanni, you got a final thought.
Got anything you want to say out there as we wrap this?
Everybody enjoy the week.
Be safe out during your travels wherever they may lead and enjoy the races.
Enjoy the races, says Gio.
Sue Morris, final thought.
Hey, everybody, be a doer.
Go do things.
Learn things.
Be a contributor out there.
Yes, contributor.
And have fun.
And let's go racing.
Oh my goodness.
So much going on this weekend.
Have fun at South Georgia there, Joe.
And man, there's so much racing going on this weekend.
And mate, good luck.
Kick butt.
You know, we're pulling for you.
Get her done.
Good luck.
Well, we're all counting on you.
Thank you.
Yes.
Yeah, Matt in Australia.
What we're doing is we're seeing if Matt performs better with a lot of pressure on him.
That's it.
It'll make you better, Matt.
Trust me.
Yes, yes, yes.
It'll make you better.
You'll be better.
Thanks Monica as well.
She'll be better off.
Yeah, Monica's down there in the chat.
There goes Matt.
Thank you very much.
There goes Sacramento Racing fan and Bobby and Gio.
Thank you very much.
And Bobby and Sue.
Thank you, Sue.
Great job.
And don't forget if you didn't hear it, which nobody did, the interview with Andrew Chapman
at the beginning.
Great job with that, Sue.
Thank you, Joe.
Thank you.
WFO.
WFO.
There she goes.
Sue Morris.
And remember, guys, we got our great sponsors.
They make it possible, literally make it possible.
I'm thinking about Marvin Rodak.
Rodakscoffeeandgrills.com.
Marvin Rodak.
Oh, smells so good.

Frank Holley's Drag Racing School.
I was hanging out with Frank at the track.
And Frank's still trucking.
You want to drive a dragster?
You want to have a wonderful life experience?
Go to the Dragster Inventor at FrankHolley.com.
Of course, RodakscoffeeandGrills.com.
HusseyPerformance.net, not just copper gaskets anymore.
Call David Allen and the team up there in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.
412-716-4872.
Bernie Speedshop, 100,000 square feet in Ocala, Florida.
If you're buying or selling cool cars of consequence,
reach out to Josh Hart and his team.
Certainly get yourself a can of Fogget at summitracingequipment.com.
Little sad that the next quarter's summit catalog is getting ready to come out.
I didn't get to get Project Pontiac on the track
while we were in the centerfold of the summit catalog.
But the good news is now everybody's seen it.
One way or another, get yourself a can of Fogget to use around the house.
Also, Redline Synthetic Motor Oil.
Shout out to Redline.
Shout out to Torque Calibration Services of Australia.
They just need their driver to win this weekend.
It'll be great. Just kidding, Matt.
But thank you, Matt.
I love my Torque Calibration Services Torque Wrench.
The other day I was like, so happy just using that Torque Wrench.
Great stuff.
FTI Performance Transmissions and Torque Converters.
Jesse Converters.
Total Seal Piston Rings.
The leader in ring seal technology.
We've got an interview with Sandy Wilkins
from Wilkins Racing Engines, the Sand Please.
So much fun.
Great interview.
Sandy Wilkins talking about his life and his career and ring seal
and the importance of innovation and combustion.
And then there's Larisse Motorsports Insurance.
Hold Larisse.
Ensure your race car.
They do not have the exemptions that the macro companies do.
It has to be here.
It has to be with this and with that, the right temperature.
All of these things.
LarisseMotorsportsInsurance.com.
I had a great time.
Charlotte is a great race.
And we're only going there once this year.
So that's it.
But we had fun.
And so to everybody who said WFO at me out there,
man, I really had a great experience.
Wild.
Like I was treated a couple of times as if I am a celebrity,
which is bizarre.
I've got a phrase that I coined drag race famous,
right?
Because like at the track, people know you.
But outside of the track, outside of the track a couple of times,
the race fans, Bryant and Bryant and Mark and Megan,
some nice people at BJ's Brewhouse went crazy.
Like, oh my gosh, it was hard to understand.
And then it happened again.
It was like, oh man, my friend Corey was with me.
I was like, I'm glad you're here to see this
because this doesn't always happen.
This is this is drag race famous.
Anyway, we had a blast.
Don't knock the Emod Mustang.
Don't knock it.
It's cool, man.
It's cool.
Guy on our Facebook group and everyone jumped in
and I don't want you jumping people.
But he said, if they replace top fuel with this,
it's like, dude, you're kind of jumping to a big conclusion.
They're going to replace top fuel.
What are you talking about?
All right, we're going to be on tomorrow.
NHRA Nitro, Ron Capps, Matt Hartford, Mike Stavrinos,
all joining us.
The guys on Life's a Drag going to be on noon on Wednesday.
Hopefully.
WFO.
WFO.
This is WFO radio.
Yeah, welcome to the party.
