Welcome to the Carpool podcast with Kelly.
I like solo pregnant girl, like a young, like for like 25, like a young pregnant girl.
And I had like such jealousy towards her, because I'm like, I used to be the cute pregnant
girl, the cute young pregnant girl.
And Liz.
But to me, watching football is like watching paint dry.
Like I can't believe, when it gets exciting, like when they're about to score a touchdown,
like then it's exciting.
Our mom time off starts now.
Welcome back to the Carpool podcast with Kelly and Liz.
And we're back.
We're back.
Wow.
We really screwed up on scheduling.
I know, just like head in the sky, you know what I mean?
I know.
Head in the sky, living it up on Labor Day, totally forgot that it was going to mess
up our recording schedule.
But that's okay, because now we're back with two episodes, which is going to
be so much more fun to just like get back into the swing, get back into the segments.
And I just couldn't be more excited to be back in like a full capacity.
Me too.
Me too.
I've missed it.
Yeah.
Same.
The podcast brings us such joy.
You have no idea.
And summer is coming to an end.
Summer has come to an end.
Summer has come to an end.
I'm ready.
Yeah.
No, I'm totally ready.
I like though living it up until Labor Day.
And then after like now, now I'm ready to be in September.
And one of the reasons I am so excited for September is because I'm a football fan now.
Because it's like a little too early to be like so pumpkin-y.
Yeah.
But it's, I mean, the Lions have their first game on Sunday, their first non-preseason
game.
Oh my gosh.
No, I know.
Like look at me in all my buzzwords.
So like, it's so fun that like September I have football.
And then of course you continue to have football, but like then you have other things going on
in October.
But September I have football.
And like I plan on living it up in football.
Yeah.
No.
I've already told my whole family like we're all Lions fans.
I got, I just, I bought a sweatshirt off Etsy that says Detroit Lions, super cute.
Like I'm just so ready to commit to the bet.
Okay.
Well, I'm excited for you.
Do you like watching football?
Like do you know the rules?
Do I like watching football?
You know, if there's something it's no, no, short answer no.
Long answer is it's like good to be bored.
You know, it's like low stimulation.
It's like when I turn on like a 90s cartoon for my kids, like that's what football does
to me.
Like no, it's not very entertaining in my opinion, but it's good to just slow down.
You know what else I like?
I like watching TV commercials.
It's almost because what's new, you know, what's new?
What are people talking about?
Parents companies posting about like who's the hottest person at progressive like, well,
and we were just watching the football game at the lake because Maddie was watching the
Notre Dame game and I didn't know Gabby's dollhouse.
The movie was coming out.
Like how has that not come across my desk because I'm not watching TV commercials.
I guess I don't, I don't know.
So I'm looking forward to just, you know, and I want to, I want to see what's
on with dance.
I want to see the dancing with the stars commercials.
Like I just, I want to be a part of it.
Well, I'm excited.
I think this is going to be my first season that I sit down and watch dancing with
the stars. I've never done it before because actually, I want to look up the
whole cast, but I do know a couple of people that I'm excited.
Yeah. Well, and it's fun to watch your kids.
I think it's fun. We're going to sit down, kids.
It's going to be dancing with the stars.
Again, it's low, it's low stimulation for them.
So we've got two Mormon wives, Jen Affleck, who I'm not really, I'm not.
I never watched the last season, but like I'm not a big fan of Jen.
I didn't like her on the first season.
And then Whitney, who also was like the villain of the first season.
But I kind of like Whitney.
That's not that's not that hot of a take.
I think a lot of people kind of like Whitney.
Yeah, she's just kind of on it on apologetic.
OK, Robert Irwin, obviously.
And my crush, Robert Irwin.
My crush, Robert Irwin is on Dancing with the Stars.
Alex Earl. Oh, oh, that's going to be interesting for her.
Dylan Efron, who is Zach Efron's little brother, never heard of Dylan.
Nepotism and Hilaria Baldwin.
I'm a controversial Alec Baldwin's wife.
I also don't know who that is.
So I'll be there.
I'll be watching.
No, I we watched it last year and I really enjoyed it.
So anyway, also wanted to say George is playing football.
George is playing flag football. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
So we're also just like we're such a football family in September.
And I'm just really like leaning into it.
Some might call. Is this like a micro hobby for you?
Oh, my gosh, this is this is totally football is because I will get fatigue.
I plan on watching in September and then moving on with my life
and then picking back up if the Lions are in the Super Bowl or in the playoffs.
Yeah. But yeah, I would say for September, I'm micro hobby and on football.
I have I cleaned out my recipe binder yesterday
and I found a recipe that Aunt Lizzie brought me when I was postpartum
with Hattie or Libby, those roast beef sliders. So good.
I'm making roast beef sliders on Sunday.
We're watching the lion.
George has a football game on Sunday.
We're going to home, home have roast beef sliders
and then we're turning on the Lions game and that is my Sunday.
That sounds actually really relaxing and nostalgic for some reason.
And I'm going to wear my lion sweatshirt and we're just going to like make it.
OK, it's it's good to have.
I need to figure out my streaming, though.
What do I watch a football game?
Call Maddie. I don't know.
Like football season rolls around.
We've got three new subscriptions because we got to watch college.
You got to watch the NFL.
You got to watch professionals like not all the teams are on the same ones.
It's ridiculous.
You got to call Maddie. He'll fill you in.
Maddie is a huge Notre Dame fan.
And I think I need to lean into what you're doing a little bit more
and just like lean into it because I can't avoid it.
It's going to happen.
But to me, watching football is like watching paint try.
Like I can't believe when it gets exciting,
like when they're about to score a touchdown, like then it's exciting.
But God, it stops all the time.
Like it's my least it's honestly probably my least
least here at sport to watch because also our parents love to watch golf.
So like whenever we're over at their house on the weekends, like the golf is on
golf is it's borderline ASMR therapeutic to me.
Like I love watching golf.
Hockey is fun.
Baseball is a bit of a snooze, but at least I know what's going on in baseball.
Yeah, I have no idea what's going on in football, but games are so long.
It's just not for me, but you're right.
I need to buck up.
I need to I need to lean into what's fun about it, which is the the swag.
And cute, I know the huge swag and the food and like having
a meal surrounding it.
Like one time I got chicken wings for a Notre Dame game, and then they won.
And then Maddie said, I have to go get those same chicken wings
every single time that they play.
Because she's a man. Yeah.
And so then it's fun.
And I'm like, oh, I got to get the chicken wings.
And it's fun.
Yes, he teller doesn't watch football in any capacity.
But we're all going to micro hobby this time.
I'm just like, I'm going to turn it on.
And I'm going to use it as I'm going to put my phone away.
I'm going to slow down, turn my brain off and maybe learn a thing or two about football.
I'm very excited.
So that's September. OK, can't wait.
That's September.
But let's go back a couple of months, OK, because I have.
I'm kind of taking mom's advice of like when you make notes
after like a big holiday or a big party, I'm doing it seasonally.
Mm hmm.
Because I find that I just want to remember like what I enjoyed doing,
what I didn't enjoy doing, what I should do more of like next summer.
So I have my summer notes written down.
I wanted to review them with the class.
Let's hear it.
OK, number one note that I wrote down is my so I.
I need to buy and here's I did not do with this year and I regret it.
I need to buy cute America clothes and America jammies.
Because the thing is it's it's a bang for your buck
because it covers three holidays.
And really, I feel like you can wear patriotic.
I mean, you can wear it year round, but you can wear it all summer year round.
But you can for sure hit the memorial fourth
in Labor Day in your patriotic outfits.
And like, I wish I would have had cute American flag jammies
for my kids to wear, especially because Kate was just talking about
how like her person doesn't wear pajamas anymore,
sick to my stomach, nauseous.
The fact like George won't wear pajamas.
Like he'll just want to wear like a T shirt.
Disgusting. Disgusting.
I just in like and it's but it's OK because like one day he's going to be a man
and he's going to give me the egg in his pajamas.
So like I need to just capitalize on it when he's when he's not icky in pajamas.
So I should have one hundred percent bought my kids matching.
Even more so important, like I think Christmas and patriotic is all you need.
A Halloween jammie. It's one night a year.
I'm not and I know you can wear them again.
I know you can wear them again.
But just doesn't like give me the same like like I love the Christmas time
and I love the summertime and I want matching jammies for those seasons.
You're not much of a Halloween person.
I think some people like Halloween is their jam.
It's their micro hobby.
But I agree, like even Thanksgiving, like in hear me say,
I got both Halloween and Thanksgiving jammies for my kids this year.
But I agree we should be focusing more on the patriotic.
So that's my biggest takeaway.
I will have killer.
But I also want to have I also want to have like
a solid patriotic outfit because like we go to a parade.
Like we do things we do things when it's like
if my kids are going to be in a coordinating casual outfit, let's make an American.
Red, white, blue is timeless and it looks so good together.
For sure.
Um, I need to prioritize kids camps more.
So one, I just think like, you know, as our schedule kind of like changes
as my kids like aren't in school and then they're home with me more.
I need to even if it's not
even if it's not like an all day camp,
like my kids really enjoyed like they each did like a two to three hour camp
for like three days and it was enough to break things up.
And they enjoy it.
It got us out of the house.
It just got it gave us a little hussan bus and had he went to a Triliter camp.
It was two days for two hours.
We're talking four hours total and she is wearing the t-shirts.
She's singing the cheers.
All she's talked about is her Triliter camp and it was honestly, it was lame.
I went to it.
I was like, I can't believe the game was all these people are doing.
Yeah, it was just they just like didn't leave this gym for two days
for four hours, but whatever.
She loved it.
So I'm going to prioritize camps.
I also wrote down this is something very specific to me,
but Tyler and his dad do hay every year and it's like a lot of work for them.
And I always took that as like, don't bring the kids anywhere near me
because it's like a lot of work for me.
But he told me that he wants he wishes I would have like made it a bigger deal
and like came down like brought them lunch in the hay fields and like visit.
So I did pick that up the second half of the hay season.
I did get around to that, but I just made a note to myself.
Like when Tyler starts talking about hay, I need to mentally plan.
OK, we're going to go down there.
We're going to bring a snack box.
We're going to bring data lemonade.
I'm going to hype it up.
I'm just going to like be the hay cheerleader.
OK, I love it.
You know, yeah.
I definitely want to do a garden next year in some capacity or or vegetable.
Whatever. I don't know where my head's going to be.
I don't know what kind of hobby I'm going to want to take on.
But to not even attempt this year was a mistake on my part.
Like I didn't even get anything and let it die.
You know, yeah, like I need to just I need to do something.
OK, I agree.
It's it's good. It's good for you.
Obviously, I said fish fries or fried and summer meals like do more of those.
Just like can't have enough of that.
One thing we did this summer that worked really well is
the kids had to do 20 minutes of chores to earn 20 minutes of TV time.
Love it.
And the first couple of times we did it, like it was a little of a fight.
But then it was like a George wake up and he goes, can I do my chores?
Because like he just wanted to earn his TV time.
So loved that. Love it.
This I did this in the later half of the summer, but it worked well.
I said, bring a picnic blanket up to the garage.
So you're just ready to go for for the park or for the picnic or to eat outside.
Like it's just kind of like reworking the garage with like what are things
that I want to be grabbing for frequently?
Like we set that big picnic table up in our garage
and had breakfast out there a lot in the summer, which was nice.
But even just like having a picnic blanket in the garage ready to go
would be nice.
I said, get each kid named brand crocs.
They look and hold up better.
I tried to do an off brand croc for some of my kids.
I'm sorry. And I'm not I'm not one normally be a brand snob.
But like half my kids had real crocs.
No, George and Fred had real crocs.
Hattie had fake crocs.
And like it was a stark difference.
Well, that's a really hot take.
Not as I found them not as comfortable.
They shouldn't look as good.
Like they were way too big on her.
But like they were like big, whatever.
I just want everyone to have crocs and I'm going to be, you know,
because also a croc like I'll pass.
So like I'll pass down George's crocs to Fred.
I'm throwing Hattie's frocks away.
Just like, you know what I mean?
Right. Like I'm just not.
I have two in two.
There's I just need to buy the thing
that's going to last for the next kid.
And I'll come out ahead. Yeah.
That was a big note.
Peach cobbler with in season peaches.
So good. We'll be making again.
I said, I want to make sure I decorate the fence
and the gate for Memorial Day and the fourth.
Well, and that just goes back to it.
Like you do it on Memorial Day and you just leave it up until the fourth.
Yeah. The other notes I wrote were like way too like specific,
like, don't go to this, go to this.
OK, don't take it.
So like I won't get in too much of the minutiae,
but those are some of my hot notes for the year.
I love it. Thanks. I love it.
I don't have many notes.
We have been just not living at our house.
So I feel like I have been in survival mode for the since June,
just trying to make it through.
Like I have not thought about anything fun, anything unique.
All that is consuming me is renovating my house.
So I'm excited to see what kind of person I'm going to be.
When I move back in and get things a little bit more organized.
One, hopefully you can have fun with fall.
Hopefully I can have fun with fall.
Another thing that I'm like doing, I'm trying to make things special
because also I'm trying to, I think,
probably bury the feelings that I'm not going to have another baby again.
So I'm trying to be like, OK, I'm not having any more babies.
Like I don't get to make that my personality.
So let's make the things I have with my kids really fun.
So I'm very into banners right now.
I've actually like ordered like four banners.
Where are you ordering banners from?
Literally everywhere. OK.
I haven't even told you this.
So I just don't know where you have the time in the day
to like order banners and make like a mile long list.
Just like make the play on these memories
and like make roast beef sliders.
Like I just don't know how you're getting this all done.
So anyway, I've been on my banner grind
because I just think I have a really good spot for a banner
like above my kitchen window. Yeah.
I think it really like signifies like what what's going on.
So the first thing I wanted to buy was a happy happy birthday banner.
But I just wanted like the same banner every single time.
And it's like I want my kids to then fight over it one day.
Yeah. So I went to Etsy.
And I wanted one.
I didn't want like a paper one
because like I feel like I could make a paper one.
So I ended up finding this.
It was $70, which I know.
But honestly, someone else can probably make this,
but like I just don't have the skill set.
It's like just like a quilt that says happy birthday.
Are you showing me a picture? Yeah.
Oh, OK. Yeah, that's cute.
It's so cute, right? Yeah.
So it's just like it's homemade fabric.
And I got to pick the fabric.
Like the girl sent me some options and it says happy birthday.
Yeah, it's it's cute.
And I saw this real
and it was birthday party, except the theme theme is happy birthday.
And it's not like a theme where it's like Spider-Man or dinosaurs and everything.
It's just like colorful and bright and fun.
And the theme is happy birthday.
I love that. So yeah, the theme is happy birthday.
Speaking of birthdays.
It's Libby's birthday today.
Well, let me finish my my banners.
I have other banners that I bought.
Do you know where this table?
Let's hear where the rest of the banners are from.
OK, so then there's a website called Little Happies.
Little Happies.
And they have the cutest banners ever.
Shop Little Happies.
I follow this girl on Instagram, Amy Beth Campbell.
She's such a fun follow.
Like anything she talks about, like I just immediately want to buy.
Amy Beth Campbell is her name.
And she had like a back to school one.
I'm like, why don't I have a back to school banner?
Yeah.
Like the back to school is so cute.
And then the fall ones, the Halloween.
I like Halloween decorations that are like super kitschy, like super kitty.
Yeah, they're so cute.
And then you can customize them.
They have a football one like hello to say they have a football one can considering.
No, these are very cute. Aren't they cute?
These are very cute.
You I think you need a football banner, though.
I know I'm kind of thinking about it.
So you can just you can just customize them to like, for example,
I'm trying to find the Thanksgiving one.
Anyway, I was like, I went to boy turkeys, two girl turkeys,
and it was just like not a big deal.
So shout out little Happies, little Happies.
These are very, very cute.
So cute, right? So cute.
OK, anyway, and yes, it's Libby's birthday.
And I'm very emotional about it.
Yeah, I did.
I thought I was going to be fine.
And then I put her to bed and I walked into my kitchen and busted into tears.
Tyler literally came running.
He's like, what's wrong, what's wrong?
I said, it's just over.
I can't believe it's over.
Because like, but do you always cry
than I before your kids first birthday?
I always cry that I before all their birthdays.
I always cry.
And I think I'm going to be fine.
I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, that girl is so romantic.
Like, you don't like you want her to get older, like the stage is so hard.
And then I like to like, I don't think that girl is dramatic yet.
But like, in two days, I'll be like, that's so embarrassing.
Right. That's what I'll say.
Yeah, Sloan turns one in 18 days.
And I'm like, I don't think I'll feel a thing like that's just another day.
Yeah, to me, it's like, I'm not the girl who's pregnant, not the girl with the baby.
And that is just a bit of a personality shift.
And I an identity crisis.
It's an identity crisis.
And it's just who I've been for so long.
And I feel like when you get married young and have kids young.
Like, like, even when I didn't have them,
like I was like wanting to have them, like that was my big personality.
Like I was I want to get married.
I want to have babies.
Like that was just who I was my like most of my life.
And now like I'm like that chapter is over.
Yeah, but now you have banners and football and hosting.
And like you you have so much.
Yeah, I know. I have I have more.
I have more micro hobbies, but like I just don't have.
And then, you know, I like solo pregnant girl like a young
like for like 25, like a young pregnant girl.
And I had like such jealousy towards her because I'm like,
I used to be the cute pregnant girl, the cute, young pregnant girl,
like with so much life left in her.
I'm just 32 year old mom of four.
Now I'm just like this mom of four.
And I don't want another baby.
Like I really don't.
I just want my babies back.
But I also don't.
It's totally fine.
It's totally fine.
And I was so fun.
I was crying and how do you come to me?
And she goes, Mom,
I'm going to have 10 babies.
I was like, Oh, so good to hear, Hattie.
Thank you for.
So I'll have plenty of grandchildren.
And so anyway, happy birthday, Libby, happy birthday, Libby.

Well, Cal, I feel like I've just talked so much.
I know, I don't really I was kind of like
waiting to see if you had anything else you wanted to say.
Or are you good?
I'm good.
OK, well, I was thinking we could dive
into last three transactions
where we share our recent bank accounts of transactions
because with Labor Day comes Labor Day sales
and I've been transacting.
I did transact one on a banner.
So I feel like that'll be my first one.
OK, then I'll go.
I am I have a talk about this.
I just really like Burt's Bees Jammies.
You are so on your Burt's Bees Jammies grind.
I'm on my Burt's Bees Jammies grind.
I also like they're they're really, really cute summer clothes.
I don't think their fault clothes are quite as cute,
but their summer clothes for girls were so cute.
And a lot of them are in clearance right now.
Maybe want to go see.
But they have so many cute Christmas Jammies right now
in holiday jammies.
So I bought all the holiday.
I got got all my holidays covered.
I got a very cute Halloween.
I wasn't going to buy Halloween
unless I saw one that spoke to me.
It spoke to me.
And in the past, I've always bought
like Little Sleepies or Kate and Lane.
And those are now like $40 a pop.
The Burt's Bees.
And if they're on sale, it's like $12.
So OK, no, I'm looking at their website.
First of all, they have football jammies.
So I'm just I bought some of those.
For James, I'm such a football fan now.
Football is also just like such an aesthetic sport.
Like I'm not I will buy football jammies.
Like I'm not going to buy basketball jammies.
No, first of all, I totally agree.
Like football is just cute.
OK, this is so cute.
No, the stuff is they have so many prints
in the Christmas jammies.
It's ridiculous. Oh, and they go up to.
Oh, they have Georgia size.
Oh, this is good.
And right now, because it's so early,
a lot of them are in stock.
So I so make haste.
I I did a lot of Burt's Bees jammies.
It's just so exciting, Elizabeth.
Well, and you can get like three pairs of the price
of one little sleepies and don't are they kind of love?
Yeah, they're cotton.
I love little sleepies.
I love the bamboo.
But I mean, you know, in this economy.
They do they do get more and more expensive.
Yeah. And the thing is,
there's I do like how soft they are.
I do always feel like they just don't have the best prints, though.
Like sometimes they're just not my no, like the little sleep.
Oh, little you've never been a fan of the little sleepies prints.
They're like so they're like ugly, cute that I like that.
Yeah, Burt's Bees are kind of a little bit more like a soft,
like aesthetically pleasing.
Not quite so in your face.
Well, that's a good one.
I my recent subtraction is I totally advantage
of the tea Labor Day sale.
Tea collection.
I'm such a stand for their clothes.
And like I said earlier with the Crocs,
the more I realize that like I have two and two.
And when I think about the things that I kept for Hattie
and that I kept from George,
I just like things that all go together.
And I think for the shirts that are cotton,
like they just last a lot longer.
They wash better.
And I'm hard on my clothes, too.
Like I'm washing everything together.
I'm not the best stain treater.
So like I just like clothes that I feel like
cold up and can get washed and dried a hundred times,
get sprayed with a bunch of like stain remover
and like just come out looking OK.
So I really like the tea collection.
They also have very realistic.
I don't really like it.
I shouldn't say I don't like it for Fred.
They don't have the cutest like truck stuff,
but they have really good animal stuff.
Like I just got George a glow in the dark scorpion shirt.
Yeah, that I think he's going to freak about.
So they had 20 percent off.
So I bought George and Hattie each one outfit,
like shirt, shirt and pants, shirt and pants.
And it's like the kind of like they'll wear it once a week in the fall
and like they won't tire of it.
I won't tire of it. I'll pass it down.
Like it's just I've been really, really impressed with the quality.
This is the first time I've ever bought.
I've never bought their pants, but I've heard really good things.
I just always bought their t-shirts and t-shirts,
long sleeve shirts and dresses, but I've never bought their pants.
So I'm excited to try those.
I'm sure they'll be great.
Apparently they're good for skinny kids and George is so tall and so skinny.
Yeah. So I'm hoping that those look good on him.
OK, something that I recently bought
with the renovation going on.
I also need to start buying some furniture
like I need a dining room table.
I need to decorate or get furniture for our office slash library.
So something that mom has inspired me to do is go to consignment shops.
Oh, yeah.
And she went to a consignment shop and found me a kitchen table.
It's beautiful, excellent quality, real wood.
I'm obsessed with it. It was three hundred dollars.
Yeah, it's like it's like marketplace, but in person.
And that's the thing is marketplace, but you can see it in person.
And it's marketplace prices and it's really unique finds.
And so now I also found some winged back leather chairs
for Maddie's library office, which is exactly what he's been looking for.
And I just love buying secondhand.
I love that they just don't make furniture like they used to.
And if they do make furniture like they used to, I can afford it.
So it's thousands of dollars, thousands of dollars.
And this is we're talking hundreds of dollars
for things that should have been thousands.
So I just don't really think I realized what the consignment game was about.
I thought it was used and also still really expensive.
Yeah. It's I mean, some pieces are obviously.
But we I've gone to multiple consignment stores since this
and affordable secondhand stuff.
That's a little bit more vetted and not vetted.
But like it's it's handpicked.
Like it's not like just going to like a thrift store
where you never know what you're going to get.
I mean, you never know what you're going to get a consignment store.
But you know, it's going to be of nicer quality.
Yeah, totally.
Well, not that's not to say you can't find something nice
a goodwill, but it's a hit or more of a hit or miss.
A goodwill. It's more of a hit or miss
because it's because they will take things that aren't as good quality.
Yeah, you know, when you walk there, it's even if it's not your style,
you can still appreciate the quality. Yeah. Yeah.
That's awesome.
Let me I need to look.
I think that's that's like the only things I bought for.
I'm sure Amazon transacted something, though.
Wow, I'm doing like really good.
I'm not buying stuff.
Mm hmm.
I bought Sloan's birthday present.
Would you get her?
I got her.
I don't know how to pronounce it, C-O-R-O-L-L-E.
Corel. Corel.
It sounds like Corel. Corel baby doll.
Cute. They're the best baby doll.
They're 12 inches.
They have the head the head that smells like crack.
Like it's the best smelling head in the world. Oh, it smells like a baby.
Like I'm honestly, I'm honestly not the crack head.
I'm not the crack head.
It smells it's like a vanilla scent.
But like it doesn't matter.
Like it's it smells amazing.
And someone got one for Hattie when she turned one.
And I just feel like it's like a really good like intro baby doll.
The Corel baby doll.
If you if you looked up a picture like you'd know what I was talking about.
Well, thank you for you know, the eyes open, the eyes close.
Soft body.
I still have no idea what I'm going to get her.
So I'm happy that someone is getting her something.
Yeah.
And those are my trans acts.
My last transaction is the one I'm most excited about.
And it was inspired by it was inspired by you.
Wow. Facebook Marketplace.
Paw Patrol Tower plus five all of the five vehicles.
So here's the thing.
The Paw Patrol Tower that's currently available in stores
doesn't look very good.
There was an older one, like the original one.
And they no longer sell it.
It was originally sold for like I didn't know they no longer sold it.
No, they don't. They sell a new one now.
I'm always sniffing out the same.
Like I'm always sniffing out the good vintage toys.
Let's see. OK, wait, is this one?
OK, it looks like you can Lovici shop.
Looks like you can still buy this on Lovici shop.
But like you go to Walmart.
It's not Target.
It's not this one. It's an it's a new one.
Like but this one that you that we got on this website,
it's two hundred and fifty eight dollars on this website.
It's one hundred and thirty four dollars just for the tower.
eBay, two hundred and ten dollars.
Like it I'm telling you guys.
Oh, my gosh, I had no idea the new clip clop castle.
I had no idea. I just picked it up on a whim.
I got mine with all the pups for thirty bucks.
Yeah, so I paid more than that.
I got all the pups and the tower for eighty dollars.
But there are a few in my area.
They're going for seventy five eighty.
I actually talked this girl down from a hundred.
And I got it for eighty.
They are there's about a three for sale in my area.
So like they could be in your area.
And if you have one that you're holding on to the going rate
that I've noticed is like between sixty and eighty dollars.
It's with pups included.
If you're not going to have the pups, you got to drive.
You got to drop that price down.
So James is obsessed.
He woke up at four thirty this morning.
He's going to go play with his
Paw Patrol at four thirty this morning. He's obsessed.
Yeah, here's the thing.
Paw Patrol is the best price.
I think it's one of the best toys of our generation of like our kids
generation for a couple of reasons.
I don't even like I mean the show's fine.
Like I don't the show's fine.
The toys are awesome because they're such a good size.
Like I'm telling you they're not making toys the right size anymore.
And these are the right size because they're big enough with
they're not hot wheel size, but I can still put it in my diaper bag.
There's characters and cars.
The kids can put the dogs in the cars.
They can line the cars up.
They can line the dogs up.
They can just play with the dogs.
They can play with the cars.
Like it's it's very much like the little people.
It's like it's like it's like little people vibes.
But I almost like them better.
It will 100 percent be like I will keep those toys for my grandchildren.
And I'm not even being drawn when I say that.
Like and I know I might not keep the tower
because I don't might not want to store it for the next 40 years, 30 years.
But you could be on the gold mine with that with that tower.
You know how many things I'm going to have a clip.
I look at thousands of dollars.
Clip Club Castle could easily launch that for a hundred bucks.
That little tykes thing I got the J.B.F. sale, three hundred dollars.
I have one of the McDonald's drive-throughs
that are going on eBay for four hundred bucks.
Got it for five dollars out of garage sale.
Like I have your valuables are not in your jewelry.
It's not in the bags.
It's not in cash.
It is in toys.
You could say it's a copy of mine.
The vintage toys.
So I'm just telling you, like you were right.
If you have a kid who's into Paw Patrol
or maybe dabbling into Paw Patrol,
go and face Marketplace right now and try and find a tower.
It's huge. It's like two feet tall.
It's not that it's huge.
It's not that big.
It's I've seen it's not that big and it's not that ugly.
Here's the thing. It's tall. It's not wide.
I'm not mad at the footprint.
OK, it's tall. It's not wide.
And also like the cars and the pups can all be stored on the tower.
So you can kind of clean it up in that way.
The other thing that I like about Paw Patrol
that I noticed James was doing is he is like learning his colors
and he was really matching all the dogs up on like their color on the tower.
And I'm like, what color is sky?
And he says pink and like it's a good way to introduce him to colors.
Sure. I'm done with my Paw Patrol rant, but we're big fans.
Yeah, who wouldn't be?
Who wouldn't be? I'm into it.
So anyway, those are our last transactions.
Well, Cal, do you have an industry news?
You know what, Elizabeth?
I knew you were going to ask me that. Yeah.
And now it's time for industry news
where I saw the hot tea going on in the auto industry.
OK, and we've got some.
So first things first, we got to talk about the federal tax credit.
OK, because we have to.
Well, we do. It's not it's not that.
I mean, this is Juicy Guys.
So it's going away.
September 30th.
The IRS says buyers of but however, however, however.
So that's been known.
I think we've talked about this before.
Like tax credit, September 30th, it's gone.
But the IRS says buyers of the EVs
can claim seventy five hundred dollar federal tax credit
if they make a payment on the car before the deadline,
even if it isn't delivered yet.
So it's just kind of it's this is like this isn't that juicy,
but just like kind of a loophole to buy us a couple of extra days,
potentially weeks, because basically a customer just needs to have
a binding contract in place and at least one payment made
before September 30th to obtain the tax credit.
So this means that automakers can basically sell more EVs,
even if they're not on the lot yet, as long as the process has been started.
Oh, OK.
But yeah, so that's going away.
So if you are thinking about buying an EV, make haste.
Make haste.
Make haste because you will miss out on that tax credit.
September 30th, which is also my wedding anniversary,
which feels kind of like a weird way to celebrate that,
but I was letting you guys know.
OK, next, this is the juice juice juice.
Hurts and Amazon are collabing.
Yeah, what's that all about?
So Hurts car sales are now available at Amazon autos.
Hurts sells used cars on Amazon.
They say we're firm believers that car shopping should be as easy as possible,
which is why we partner with Amazon autos to bring you brand new way to buy.
Now you can conveniently shop our main shop are maintained from day one vehicles
on the online marketplace.
Just shop Amazon autos and pick one up at your local Hurts sales location within three days.
Your next ride is just a few taps away.
Are you ready to roll?
So this is very, very, very similar to the
Amazon Hyundai, the Amazon Hyundai thing
in terms of like how it's going to work.
But the juices that like now they're just introducing it with used vehicles.
Is this out yet? No.
No, it looks like Amazon Autos is still in beta
and I'm only seeing Hyundai's right now. OK, so yeah.
Oh, yeah, more now available in Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles
and Seattle, more locations coming soon.
Yeah, so it's just by your location. OK.
So anyway, similar to the Hyundai thing,
let's talk about what this is and what it's not.
This is not buying a car from Amazon.
It's buying a car on Amazon.
OK, it's more just like thinking of this like a lead source,
like an Edmunds, like an auto trader.
They're hosting the inventory and then they're helping handle
some of like the financing, some of the pricing,
making it easier, more streamlined.
But you're still going to a Hertz dealership to pick up the car.
Yeah, I think my problem with like why I think this model just
isn't going to.
Fully work is I think you, especially with used cars,
like I think you need to see the car yet. Yeah.
Like even new cars, I can understand it a little bit more,
you know, because a new car is a new car.
Like, you know, however it, you know,
even if you have to go test drive new cars in the beginning,
you know, once you decide you want the Hyundai Santa Fe,
you want it black on tan.
OK, well, then whoever has a black on tan when you just buy it,
like it's not that big of a deal because it's a brand new car,
but a used car, let alone a rental car.
Yeah, like you got to lay eyes on her.
I got to lay eyes on it.
You got to lay eyes on it and like then go and look at it at the dealership,
but to just like.
But see, then it's an extra step.
Like to me, to me, then it's an extra step.
Like, so then you like did all this paperwork, you bought it on Amazon,
but then you like get there and it smells like smoke or like whatever.
I don't know. Right. Yeah, I don't know.
I'm just not the biggest fan.
Yeah, I'm I'm not so sure about all of that.
But I also like I want to talk to someone.
Most of the year, most of the time I am least human interaction is possible.
Like let me order my coffee online.
I don't I don't want to wait in line.
I don't want to talk to someone like I'm I am not that person.
I like to I don't like to order.
So I don't like to wait in line.
I don't want to I don't I then I got to wait for the coffee.
Like I am ordered on my phone.
It is there when I pick it up.
Like I'm all of that streamlining processes, something like this,
though, I want to talk to a salesperson.
Um, well, and it's just but here's the thing.
I'm also the car industry's got to get us together.
They've got to work on improving the in-person experience.
Yeah. And I always talk about this when I whenever
I have the opportunity to talk to dealers, I always talk about
if I if I can make a football reference, they're fumbling the ball
because how many other industries would love to still be able to
sustain all these brick and mortar locations like the auto industry?
We have storefronts.
We have locations we we can still like the movie theaters could never
like they're they're trying to convince anyone to come watch a movie.
People are coming to your door to have this shopping experience
and you guys are fumbling the ball like other industries would kill for this.
They would kill for it.
And I think there I think what it really comes down to is the industry.
Which again, believe me, whenever I get a group of dealers, I tell them this
the industry is still too focused on sales.
And they're not these salespeople, they're not customer service experts
and they need to be product and customer service experts.
They don't need to be sales experts.
Like this is not.
It's not.
I just don't think there's as much room for sales as there used to be,
because one, all the information is out there.
People are getting smarter.
The consumer has more tools at their disposal.
So I just think and I'm not saying I'm not saying that
there's not an art to sales, because there's definitely an art to sales.
But I think that the industry puts too much of an emphasis on just
trying to get their salespeople to be better at sales
instead of getting their salespeople to better customer service.
Dang girl.
That's like, no, I think that's like really profound.
Yeah, I think so, too.
And yeah, you know, that's what I have to say about that.
So we'll see what happens.
And that's industry news.
OK, well, now it is time for ditch the drive-through
where we give you an easy dinner recipe to mix it up
to get you out of your dinner.
Dinner rot.
Well, I have one.
OK, this one may have been shared.
It's kind of one of those ones you forget about.
Three ingredients.
Ham, Swiss, Crescent Rolls.
Elizabeth, I bought the stuff yesterday at the store to make them.
No, you did not.
100 percent.
That's that's a September meal, Elizabeth.
It's a September meal.
It's a September meal.
It is one of those meals, too, that you can, like,
buy at the beginning of the week and not make until Friday.
Like, sometimes when you buy a chicken.
Yeah, that's so true, but I love that.
You can make it for lunch.
You can make it for dinner.
And also, like, to your point of the roast beef,
like, also, like, roast beef is such an underrated deli meat for me.
Yeah, people aren't talking about roast beef enough.
No, they aren't.
No, so anyway, Ham, Swiss, Crescent Rolls.
Mom used to make them before it's growing up all the time.
You get a Crescent Roll, you get deli ham and Swiss.
Do a turkey cheddar.
Do a pepperoni mozzarella.
Do whatever the heck you want.
It's a lunch meat and a cheese and a Crescent Roll.
And don't, please don't ask for a recipe, you guys.
You just roll them all together, you know, creative freedom.
You could do it in a ring, you could do it in a roll.
You can do it in a roll, you can make the cheese go one way
and the meat go the other way.
I was kind of playing with the best way to do it
and they all kind of turned out the same.
They all turned out the same.
But it's such also like a great after-school snack
or like a great, you know how we,
I like to kind of do like that four o'clock dinner
sometimes, like that's such an easy thing to pull out.
Yeah.
So good, serve it with some tomato soup
if you want to judge it.
And see, that's a recipe.
I love a recipe that you can do, you can give it 1%,
you can give it 100%.
Because what about like a brie and apple
with like, you know, with rosemary on top?
What if you went that direction?
Sure. Sure.
With an oven roasted turkey breast.
Also, another great thing for mothers
with kids with allergies, like I am,
I just didn't put cheese on Sloan's
and I didn't have to make a separate meal for her.
And she just got to have the crescent roll in the ham.
It's such an iconic, I'm starving.
Yeah, it was good.
I kind of want to make that.
We're having, it's Libby's birthday today,
so we're having Pobby's seat chicken casserole,
which I know is so controversial around here.
Also though, feels like a good September meal.
Yeah, that's good.
Well, it is really good.
It was just like the third time around,
I wasn't interested in it, but it is really, really good.
I'm not sure it's the freezer meal I wanted to make.
I think it's just better fresh.
It's really good fresh.
Yeah, it's really good.
So we're having that for separate and I'm so excited.
Yeah, I love that.
And with that, that is our episode.
