Urala
“Urala” sounds like a car rally/tour where lots of cars drive through different towns together. The big deal is that it brings over 100 cars each year, so towns prepare for the crowd.
A Supra is a Toyota sports car that many enthusiasts recognize. Here it’s just being used as an example of one of the common cars you’d see at the gathering.
A “rally crowd” describes the spectator behavior and atmosphere around rally-style driving—cars passing through towns with fans gathering at stops. The host compares the event’s lunch-time crush to that kind of rally energy rather than a casual car meet.
“Town squares” here means the central public plazas in small towns used as parking/display areas for the event. The host notes that because there are “100 cars,” they can’t fit everyone in normal parking lots, so the event uses these larger, more central spaces.
The Nürburgring is a legendary race track in Germany. People use it as a yardstick for how good a car is, so it comes up a lot when car fans talk about “best roads” or “best handling.”
The Transfăgărășan is a famous mountain road in Romania. It’s known for being really twisty and scenic, so car people love driving it to see how cars feel on challenging roads.
The Transalpine route is a famous mountain drive through the Alps. The hosts are saying it feels different from other famous roads because of the higher elevation and the terrain, which changes how the drive feels.
A “sports car” is a type of car designed to be fun to drive—usually more focused on handling and steering feel than on being roomy or comfortable for long commutes.
Term
62 liter
“62 liters” is how much space the bag can hold. They’re talking about luggage size so you know whether it can fit as carry-on for the trip.
The Corvette C8 is a Corvette with the engine in the middle of the car, not in the front. That affects how the car drives and how space is laid out inside.
Term
pre-planned packing
They’re describing a careful, organized way to pack so everything fits and is easy to access. The goal is to bring only what they need and avoid extra stuff that doesn’t fit in the car.
The Alfa Romeo Stelvio is a compact SUV, which means it’s a taller vehicle that’s meant for everyday driving and comfort. It’s designed to be more fun to drive than a typical basic SUV. In the podcast, it’s brought up in the context of traveling and driving routes.
A track day is an event where drivers take their cars to a race circuit for timed driving sessions, usually with coaching and safety rules. Here, the host references a pro driver’s opinion that the Porsche 911 (991) is the “sweet spot,” based on track experience.
Ultra Pro is the name of a tire model the team used. They’re saying these tires were built for hard driving and held up well in rain and rough conditions.
Place
frankfort
They mention Frankfort as where they arrived. The key point is that the tires were already mounted on the cars when they got there.
This is a description of very grippy, performance-focused tires. The point is that the tires were tested in demanding situations like fast driving and wet roads.
“Three series” refers to the BMW 3 Series, BMW’s long-running compact executive sedan/coupe platform. It’s a common enthusiast car because it’s available in performance trims and has a strong aftermarket and tuning culture.
Place
Timosora
This is a place in Romania the host mentions while telling a travel story. It’s not a car term—just part of where the people and trip happened.
The Peugeot RCZ is a sporty French coupe. The host hasn’t driven one, but they’ve seen it and think it looks awesome.
Car
Tatra
Tatra is a European car brand that’s known for some very unusual designs. The host saw a few of them during the trip, including one that looked like it had been left in rough shape.
The Dolomites are big, beautiful mountains in northern Italy. The hosts are saying they wish their camera could show the peaks better.
LIVE
A guess what, again you can tell instantly by the birds chirping behind me that we are
outdoors, we're very outdoors, we're in Italy in the Dolomites outdoors, that's how outdoors
we really are.
I cannot believe the stuff we've seen.
Since we have seen you in Prague and the Old Town Square there, we have been on a full
weeks Euro rally, the Euro rally, so we want to talk a little bit about that and we want
to tell you a little bit about the countries we've been in and then what we're going to,
we're excited to be here in Italy, it seems like forever ago that we were in Czechia,
Prague seems ages ago, we've experienced so much driving, no teases here or just teases
here, no spoilers for the roads, but we've been filming a ton, you've been getting amazing
drone footage, chances have been shooting a ton, we've all been shooting crazy amounts
of stuff on our phones and just can't believe it.
We have packed so much and that's actually the reason that we're doing this podcast like
this, it's just kind of an update podcast because we've realized that it's been a near
overwhelming amount of stuff in a great way, but we keep looking at the day going, okay,
can we still do everything in the day, we keep having that conversation and it's a great
conversation to have, we wanted to walk you through again like Paul said, the stuff we've
seen so far, now there are probably four films coming, there may be more, I'm still trying
to figure out, get my head around what the full story is and all that kind of stuff,
we're going to share with you guys our favorite roads, our favorite places of this adventure,
find it in the edit, right?
Absolutely, find the story a little bit later, because we also, we know a little bit about
what we're saying in the different cars, but we don't quite know everything and we've been
through freeways at high speed, we've been through twisty, the twistiest roads you can
imagine, we've discovered so much.
Yeah, that's the whole thing, this trip because we are out of our death and out of our country
and out of countries I even imagine ever visiting, we very much are trying to be open
handed and just say, what happened today and how do we experience it and then how do we
share it with you?
I mean that's going to be a lot of what the edit and the films are going to be about,
trying to share these new experiences with you and there was something you and I were
talking about and I don't, look, I don't know if this is real or not, but it's something
that I read that seems to make sense to me and it was a cognitive study, we were talking
about this, where it was talking about how as kids, you think about a kid, a kid has,
talks about how slow time goes, but an old person that has a routine of the same thing
every day talks about how fast time goes, like where did the whole year go and the cognitive
study and again, I don't know all the facts on this, but the cognitive study talked about
the fact that a kid, every time you have a new experience, you're essentially writing
code to your brain, I haven't done this before and so it's putting in memory if you will.
Think about all the times, I know you've all done it, where you've commuted to work and
you forgot about commuting, you're like almost like you wake up halfway through your commute,
like how did I get here and you've done it safely, but your brain
isn't recording because it does it every single day and the concept was that as we
get older, we have fewer and fewer new experiences and so the days just blend and time moves
fast, but when you're young and you're getting all new experiences, I'm going somewhere
with this, you get all new experiences that the days seem like they go so slow, we are
like infants, we have had so many new experiences that days that were two days ago feel like
they're three weeks ago, we're constantly writing new memories to the brain and every
day is so packed, even if this study is not real, it makes sense to me in this experience
because we are doing so many new things, experiencing so many new things and my brain
is full, it's so full, Prague, again, Prague was a week ago, it feels like three weeks
ago. That was just over a week when we recorded the last podcast and it was really cool to
be there, we've experienced so much, we're still amazed that we got to participate in
this Euro rally and Alexander and Stefan invited us last August, August 2025 and said,
hey do you want to come on this June trip and I'm glad you brought that up because I
think all of us have been thinking about this study, the entire trip because I've been
wondering why I'm so exhausted at the end of the day, I've been seeing so much, so much
new stuff, you just from minute to minute you don't know what's around the next corner,
we think, we're going to see some scenery today, it'll probably be nice, I've seen
nice scenery before, no you haven't, you're so right, and so our brains
are completely full, we're definitely learning things along the way, we're learning nuances
from country to country, hotels can be wildly different even though they have the same star
rating, yes the star rating is not a universal standard, this is one of the things we've
relived, completely different amenities but that's okay, it's all part of the experience
and so we've gone on this Euro rally and it was really great to start in Leknica, Poland
which was very unexpected, so went to Czechia, Prague first couple of days just to get acclimated
and then we went on to Leknica, Poland where we started this entire Euro rally and started
meeting people, there were tons of Norwegians but we were so pleased that we are the first
Americans to ever be invited on Euro rally, I had no idea before we showed up, I didn't
know either, so we have gotten interviewed by the media team for Euro rally, we have
also interviewed Alexander and parking lots full every night, I mean from people revving
cars in the parking lot for the kids that just magically show up at every hotel every
night, they somehow hear about it, Alex told me that people were messaging him constantly
hey are you in town yet, hey are you coming through, when are you coming through, he's
like I don't even know who these people are, they just somehow know the rally is coming
through so it's been really incredible to go through all these countries with hotels
and roads very selected by Alexander, very curated and it really resonates with Todd
and I because that's how you know our pilgrimage trip to be, that's how you know our US adventures
to be, very curated, we want you to experience this but because there were so many cars people
were leaving at different times, people you know a group of cars and we'd heard this,
a big group of cars would leave or you know we'd leave maybe early because we had some
filming to do or you know so different cars so we'd see people along the way I'm like
oh a bunch of cars stop there for lunch and you know we'd come upon each other throughout
the day but everybody had the route and was kind of leapfrogging everyone else throughout
the day and it was cool to just see our compatriots or they'd pull in to a turn off and you know
we'd meet new people and it was really, really excellently done.
You saw one of the shorts what was posted of one of the car shows because what's also
known is that some of these towns are expecting the Urala to come through and it's over 100
cars every year, this was the 10th year it's over 100 cars so that's a lot of cars to show
up and look there's you know straight forward cars like Supras and you know older M3s, those
exist, there's also some Lamborghinis, some R8s, we have a C8 and a 911 so there's some
cool higher end stuff to see as well and I think you've probably already seen the short
that we posted that was just the overwhelming crush of people the first lunch that were
crowded around the cars, it was like driving through a rally crowd, it was the craziest
thing I've ever seen, forget cars and coffee this was a whole other thing so that was amazing
and that was just day one that let us go okay this is a different thing because Alexander
has done this so much and he lets these towns know and you know we park cars in town squares
because it's 100 cars you get to get parking for, you can't go into parking lot, we parked
in like the downtown town square of some of these small little towns and the only place
they could put us, crazy stuff, we're driving into like parks where you're like you're
not supposed to drive here but 100 cars are going to drive here right now.
Because he pre-planned everything and they're expecting us, there's people in bright yellow
vests waving us through, you know they spot the cars, Euro rally stickers,
it's crazy, yeah.
Amazing.
That was Poland, we went through Poland into Slovakia and I don't want to tell you too
much about the roads yet because again there's films coming, there's lots of films coming
but we went into Slovakia and I was pleasantly surprised by Slovakia.
Me too.
And I think partially because I didn't have any preconceived notions I was like Slovakia
here we go I have no idea, I have nothing.
What do I think?
I'll think whatever I see.
Exactly right.
So Slovakia and by some ski resorts there which I mean that's the other thing that's
been funny is if there's mountains there's a ski resort, every culture has a ski resort.
Everywhere we've gone and we're always in search of the high mountain roads so it always
ends up in a ski resort which of course, yeah.
We went through one ski resort, I literally forget the country, I think it was Romania,
I'm jumping ahead, I'll get there in a second about the closed ski resort but we, so Slovakia
and then into Hungary which again Hungary is another one of those I have no frame of
reference on and the roads were this weird combination of amazing and bumpy.

We're always evaluating the surface quality of the asphalt as we're driving through because
that weighs against what are what are the other qualifications that we have for this road so
I liked your idea we've got to come up with our top three roads we're not even done yet so we're
not sharing any you know what our opinions are we've got a good sense so far we're about what
two-thirds of the way through our trip right now yes but we're kind of in in the we're kind of in
the start of week two of focused driving there are some like some outlier days on because before
we know but but like last week was a focused Euro rally this week is a focused of us doing
Central Europe and then there's some extra days on either end that we're doing various
logistical things so it ends up being two and a half almost three weeks and we're we're you know
weeks since we saw you guys for Prague wanted to catch up with that so yeah we did Poland Czechia
for Prague of course Poland Hungary Slovakia then down into Romania and we ended up being in Romania
for four days yeah which because and and you guys have heard of this we were chasing the
Transfagar region highway which very famously Jeremy Clarkson declared at the best road in the
world so Alexander likes to take people there this is not easy to get to it's not close to anything
but we sought it out anyway now the difference is the top gear guys get to close it we just got
to drive it exactly so that changes any situation but they get to close whatever they want so it
let me put it this way that's the pressure this road lives under that 15 years ago he
declared it the best road in the world and so it has become almost like I mean look they did it with
the Nurburgring five or six years prior to that they declare something and the car world has followed
and you can tell that Romanian knows it has a tourist trap it does yeah exciting to be on these
roads and experience because it's one thing to take somebody's word for it and we're going to
be doing our best in these films to translate what it is like to be here and what it is like to
experience this all highly recommended but it's another to experience you know you said one thing
about this I'm finding it completely different in this category sure sure yeah not that I think
anybody else is wrong necessarily but yeah yeah it's just been really interesting to
sample it ourselves and just note what people have said about it because yeah Alexander planned
this entire trip to include some amazing roads I mean iconic stuff so after the Transfagarashan
highway was the Transalpine highway which their sister roads essentially yeah completely different
slightly higher elevation on the Transalpine but completely different topography completely
different scenery and definitely a different driving experience already so we're noting all
these things and I'm still letting things filter I'm gonna have to go home look at all the photos
on my phone and all the videos yeah watch whatever films we create yes we're gonna we're gonna end
up reliving everything because there's there's been so much again there's been so much here that's new
and and also it's wrapped in all of these other funny experiences like for example I mean we're
not covering this in the film so I'll share it with you guys you know you pack for three weeks
essentially but you pack in sports cars for three weeks so what we did and I know I
sound obsessive compulsive when I say this but we all got the exact same 62 liter or whatever it is
it's it's essentially an extra extra large carry-on size it's not the small carry-on it's like a
little bit bigger carry-on size so you probably should check it but you could carry it on it's
that size duffel depending on how much stuff you have yeah there's four of us so it's me and my wife
Kate it's you and Chance and we all got the exact same bag in four different colors so we know
instantly whose bag is who four different colors of course I have a red one he has a blue one of
course so that was the primary bag that's all the space you had in the primary bag it was that
and you got to bring a backpack and you had to carry a piece of camera gear and that's how we packed
because the other thing we did and I know you think I'm insane you guys thought I was insane
until we did it and then it worked then we did it and it actually made sense when we arrived in
Frank I said before we go we have to test pack these cars and all the other three thought I was mad
but we found a C8 Corvette and a 9-11 a 992 9-11 that we were able to just borrow for like an hour
and we parked them next to each other and we filled all the bags with pillows just so the bags were
full right and we just climbed around these cars and figure out where everything all the way down
to the camera bags whereas everything live so that we had a plan and also so we didn't have
extra stuff because we didn't even be standing there on the curb in Frankfurt going well there's
nowhere for this to go we didn't want that to happen we did discover we had a little bit more
space than we thought we were able to take an extra bag that was just it's just coats like if you
find yourself cold in the mountains go grab the cold weather bag that's all that's for mostly that
just lives in the car because it's now 90 degrees we didn't have rain and like 50 for two days we
did so that I was I did not pack for that trip everybody in the rally was baffled about where
is though all this rain coming from this is not what we were expecting and then finally cleared
up and it was it was all fine it was fine it's just I brought shorts so it was like 50 and rain
didn't pack for this anyway but the point I'm making here is we had this pre-planned packing
so then we landed in Frankfurt we knew where everything went we got the cars from our friends
at RSR Ron Simons Racing who's our partner always for pilgrimage I'm wearing the shirt
our partner for pilgrimage and so we got the cars from them so the C8 and the 9-11 and they
I think kind of laughed at us because they brought the cars we're like all right do you need help
packing and I was like stand back we're putting all the bags we're ready to go so the other thing
that's ridiculous about this is that also means we all ran out of clothes about 10 days in so one
night in Romania we went to a local laundromat and we just sat in the laundromat and we got
clothes going and we got cars washed and all the stuff you would you would never plan to do on a
vacation but we had another week coming it was like well we've got we've got to get everything
restarted I'm still gonna run out of clothes yeah I think we're gonna just make it I'm gonna like
really I'm gonna be in like probably return to dirties for the flight home more than you
guys want to know but anyway but I think I'm gonna just make it but but when when do you plan a
laundry stop on your vacation and here's the thing most of the time I bet you if you do laundry
on your vacation you give it to the hotel but we're in every hotel one night only and most
of the hotel laundry stuff takes 24 hours yeah we roll in late and we're out we get breakfast
early and then we're out so there's no time for a hotel to help us so we had to go find a laundromat
in Romania so then we did laundry in Romania and then we went to an American themed restaurant
around the corner from the right and we all laughed at ourselves for this it was called Brooklyn
and we were like how stupid is this come to find out Raul that ran the place I gotta give him a
shout out yeah yeah he was incredible to us he is a huge fan of America but he's never been
and so the whole place is New York themed and the food was excellent it was surprisingly great
and yeah we were really pleased to discover that it was super handy and so I said this on camera
but it's just it's about experiencing the trip that everybody thinks you should experience
you've got to do this road you've got to go to that restaurant you've got to go to this hotel
you've got to experience that but the trip is happening like it's happening and and I'm really
pleased with how it's turning out it's it's slow at times it's really fast at times the Euro
rally was a great start to just throw us into the deep end of the pool get to know everybody
and and start bombing through countries really you get to understand different ways different
countries feel about speeding and the different like feel different countries feel about passing
and yes how much lane disciplines certain countries have or don't it's been it's been
educational I've had my eyes opened a few times we have learned a lot so we're doing that okay
learned a lot yeah yeah I I'm still we've seen so much scenery we've we've taken so much in
and it's all new so back to the oh yeah cognitive study we've taken so much information in we're
swapping stories at dinner and did you see this today and we've got radios in both cars so we're
talking back and forth and from the littlest minutiae thing all the way to holy moly there's this
cathedral in front of us yeah we have had some time to make some nice stops which has been great
we've got more coming yeah so maybe some hikes and just stopping in some small
towns getting out of the cars and walking around and experiencing everything in a little town so
that's been really nice but we're packing it in well I realize that today yeah it I felt it today
there's a lot and and today was a low kilometer day but there was just lots of things to stop and
see yeah and and back to Paul's point here I'm going to say it right now if you're if you're
listening from one of these countries we're going through I promise you we didn't do one of the
things you recommend I promise you we didn't that there's everybody's going to be like well did you
go to this road we showed you the roads we went to there's there's a hundred of them sure in every
country that we aren't going to hit or your favorite place to eat or whatever it is this is such a
fast-paced trip we're having so much fun but as we're tasting these countries in these roads I'm
aware of the fact okay if I were a local there'd be five others I'd know about yeah true you know
and we're hitting we're hitting icons we still have big ones we have to though yeah
transfiguration transalpina today we were on gross Glockner highway high alpine highway which is
amazing like that we got to add it that's the thing it was so cool that that got to be added
we were in halstead austria yesterday which is a big iconic like UNESCO heritage I had no idea that
it was crazy I thought it was going to be pretty yeah blew my mind that was the well talk about
a tourist trap so we got it we got to cover that for you but we still got Stelvio we've got passes
in Switzerland yes so what we're going to do what we talked about we decided this literally the last
last couple days we're going to tell you our favorite three roads each and our favorite
three experiences each and they aren't that like the experience is not a road it's something else
it's something completely so when we get to the end of this series we'll do that and I'm look I'm
going to give you my plea now and I'm going to return to this plea and you may get sick of me
hearing it this is my like and subscribe smash this the button thing guys this trip is amazing
and I have to thank vredishtine and fcp euro because those are the two sponsors that stepped
alongside this trip specifically and said we want to be talked about in this trip in this environment
fcp euro now has uh parts for the 9 11 they're leaning into the 991 yes including a ton of diy
videos yes I'll be honest I think of a 9 11 as a scary prospect to work on yourself that's what
they're trying to get around they've created a bunch of diy videos plus kits like they always do
at fcp euro to do major services on your own 9 11 991 they've got the videos kits
all the instructions everything to do it yourself and they just actually came out with this and it
really corresponded nicely even though we are driving a 992 but still it corresponded nicely
with the 991 generation and by the way to track day a while back I heard a pro driver say he thought
the 991 is the sweet spot really interesting yeah it was an intriguing comment and we were talking
more about you know all the track stuff but sure yeah but yeah fcp has stepped alongside us in a big
way and we're very grateful to them and also vredishtine tires has provided ultra pro on both
cars so two sets of all track pros pre-installed so when we arrived in frankfort the tires were
already installed in the cars and that means we could experience them from the very beginning
and they've been on the cars they've been superb because we have been on some rough roads we've
been in a lot of rain we've been on some very twisty roads a lot of high speed driving yeah
pretty much everything that you can throw at a high performance summer tire we we knew this was
coming construction but it's been weird scenes yes unexpected stuff that that normally terrifies
you about blowing a tire you had to handle that and deluge rain yeah come on now incredible variety
of of surface conditions and so huge thanks to vredishtine tires ultra pro ultra ultra high
performance tires and they have just been superb so yeah we've had some off-road little stretches
and dirt road like well we're here let's go up here well you know sorry it makes me think of
so many things but the big thing i want to say to you guys is i really want to ask you flat out
that when these trips start dropping share it with everyone you know and please watch them
end to end if you would watch them on a big tv we're going to make them for big tv this is
cinematic stuff in spite of that it's coming out on youtube and we've got an insider podcast that
we're going to talk about the kind of behind the scenes of youtube that for our new
patron insiders we've got a new podcast that are occasional for them we're going to be rare
extra podcasts for our patrons so on that first one we're going to talk about the realities of
current youtube in 2026 for us and others so some inside baseball there will happen but
we need these videos to play well we fully believe that they will be worth playing well
but everybody on youtube is down so when you see these things dropping please watch them
please share them yeah sure smash the buttons whatever but the point is get it out to anybody
you know that wants to watch road trips or i'll put it to you this way anybody you know who likes
travel documentaries because probably more so than any of our trips we have great cars on this
but it's not about reviewing the cars yeah i mean normally we've done these road trips there
there's large sections of car review we did kota last year it was new cars every day okay that was
this is very much about the travel and the seeking out of great roads and the cars get mentioned
but it's not like okay time just time to do a review time to properly review the car well we
already have we have for sure the c8 a lot and the 9-11 a lot absolutely yeah yeah they are just
superb so also big thanks to rsr nerbert for providing the cars yes from the very get-go they
were excited about this trip everybody's taking photos and we've met people along the way that
have been just so friendly it's been really great to meet people in romania and i was actually excited
about going there and there was a guy there i went and washed the cars yep and he was so funny
the two cars i was finishing up in the parking lot and just wiping everything down and he pulled
in in his three series that he had uh he's had a long time so it's it's got some miles on it
different colored hood and it's uh you know it's seen a workout got it yep and he looked at these
two cars and then he looked back at his and said mine is not for sale i was like you are funny
i have to talk to you his awesome his name is stellian and he does actually adventures i found
out he he does adventures to the us like provides travel trips oh that's cool and puts together
travel to the us and heard that part he had been just to the east coast a few times but not too many
and stellian in romania in timosora and what a funny guy he was instantly funny like mine is not
for sale like buddy and his english was great and it was just a lot of fun so these cars have
brought so many people they brought smiles to kids faces they brought smiles to adults faces from
you name the person driving by the corvette turns so many heads the corvette is wild it's truly wild
i know i know you're listening to this in the us or watching this in the us and you think what
i'm going to say is going to be an exaggeration but i swear to you the corvette gets hypercar
kind of response it really does it gets that one off what is that thing i've never seen it we have
to stop we have to turn around we have to go back the i have you know we all say that person's jaw
dropped and it doesn't really except it does on this trip i have seen children like
unhinge their jaw as the corvettes going by the 9-11's interesting but the corvette i swear to
you it's like a one-off hypercar and that sounds ridiculous to those of us that have owned one
or see them all the time it's been a superb car the suspension over rough roads the high speed
i mean we could review it right here it's been such a superb car and it's just been fun to see
reactions to cars and then when we tell people what we're doing and they're still in a little bit
of disbelief we're still in disbelief and so we we look at this trip as a privilege to do this it's
a privilege to get out and drive to do any driving that you do that we do you go on any trip any
hooked on driving track day doing this is such a privilege and it's so much fun and it's what we love
and it brings people together the Euro rally brought all these different kinds of people together
from Norwegians to Croatians it was crazy German there were so many people there we were
honored to be the americans there and at the initial dinner the announcer frank he kind of went
around the room you know going you know where am i norwegian crew where am i you know from every
country where sweden where's yeah you know he's kind of go around the room and then he said we have
americans here for the first time all the heads heads on a swivel everybody popped around like
we have what now because only the people from the Euro rally crew had any idea that there were
americans coming and i didn't think it was going to be that big a deal i didn't either but it was a
big deal it was a very big deal so just a reminder to get out and drive and come on a trip like this
with us come to a hooked on driving track day near you and this entire trip i've just been looking
at all this scenery going what a privilege what a special thing that we're doing everything from
the most menial task from laundry and romain laundry washing cars to you know having nice
dinners to stay in a hotel it's just been completely out of the norm for us yeah i mean i guess not
completely not completely because we do these road trips the length of it has been the length of it
and also the fact that it's all new places yeah and i really hope we can get this across to you
guys the wonder of it and i hope you will enjoy the trip and it's that same thing i always talk
about i'm sure i will enjoy the trip at another level when i actually get into the edit on it
because i'm there's part of me that's always thinking about what's the shot where's the footage
when do we stop again how do we get stuff done i'm always in that headspace so todd and chance they
always when they're doing edits and they'll they'll find some clip and many times it doesn't go into
the film it's just hey by the way you said this on camera do you remember that that's you on camera
did you do you remember saying this and it'll just text us all a clip of something or yeah or
something funny or you know this has to go in look at this epic shot and i love that you relive
it's cool it's crazy but but all of that's still coming because we haven't even done it yet so okay
so we're here right now we're in just over the border from austria into italy so we got the dolomites
behind us i don't know how well you can see them but they are back there and they're spectacular
so we we we went through gosh austria all of austria actually in order to get
all the way here so now we're at the beginning of italy we still have uh stelvio pass uh we're
doing the i'm going to mispronounce it the cold the gadliere got gadliere terrible i'm butchering
it it's it's a road in eastern france that is used on tour de france so that's an amazing road
that is kind of like their version of grossglock in the past it's kind of their version of that
the french version of what we just did exactly it's going to be and i i don't even know how to
think about it and then we're going to get our way up into switzerland and we're going to do
all the major passes that you can think of there we've heard a couple of them might be closed so
i i'm kind of a tbd on that but we are going to get up into switzerland and with what we've seen
so far i'm a little boggle but it's going to get better that that's it's one of those trips
every day you're like well maybe that was better than yesterday so i can't wait to really assess
this kind of for ourselves and for you guys and really talk about i can't believe this happened
and you do feel very privileged and we love taking trips with you guys we have a lot more
adventures coming but this is this is a special one and it needs frankly honestly i hate to use
that word but seriously the films need to do well this is a huge undertaking for us i i'm not
complaining it's a blessing to get to do it yes but it is a huge undertaking of constant filming
i mean it was funny because the folks on euro rally all of them are on vacation
yeah and they're they're pulling in and like we're done for the day
while while this please don't be wrong so many of these things feel like a iconic lifelong vacation
and i'm not complaining but on top of everywhere we go there is the stopping filming
and then when we get to a hotel a nice hotel it's not like cool i'm hanging out now no somebody's
got to dump footage a podcast has got to get edited or prepped for we've got to you know deal with
emails for hooked on driving because is having track days while we're here
yes so there's various fires that come up there and of course we're eight hours ahead
so we're trying to solve that you know this is life stuff please don't get me wrong i am not
complaining at all but it's funny to be on a trip with a bunch of people who are only on vacation
and to realize we're we're in slightly different headspace there's a little bit different thing
going on the the norwegians can drink by the way one of them said to us the first night please
don't judge us we're vikings and then there were like there's actual vikings there were multiple
hotels who closed the bar because they were out of alcohol hotels expecting a hundred plus people
to come through ended up out of alcohol so they closed the bar i mean that's amazing we have all
gotten very good at not just spotting duches and scoters and seops and citrons and all the
pujos but now we're starting to get good at the models we're we're diving down into hey what is
okay we're really learning all the cars that we don't get uh so far i did see a pujo rcz i'm sure
it's not the best car to drive i don't know i've never driven one but it looks really cool and i
wanted to see one of those so we saw two of those and yeah just every country just has surprising
amounts of all kinds of cars so we're learning all the the model names of everything all the way
back to like the 90s we're seeing old stuff no you're right totally we're seeing tons of stuff
we've seen a couple of latas we've seen a lot of i saw a tatra yeah we saw a couple of tatras
i mean in romania they weren't running they were they were over there in the weeds one was a police
car one was a things were growing out of it yeah there were lots of stuff growing through on that
guy that was amazing i saw another tatra just kind of broken down in a garage like tatra
yeah do i need to get excited about that well and then and then we've also seen random american
iron like today on gross gladner pass yeah there was a ford mustang drive going on
and i don't mean like hey there's three mustangs i mean like a dozen yeah there were mustangs
customized huge paint jobs i mean they were all modern mustangs like brand new mustang well
not the latest one but like the prior gen but tons of those i've seen a surprising number of
corvette c6's including a guy in a convertible one yesterday who tracked with us through a big
chunk of austria just for fun which is cool today i saw a a night rider era so like an 82 or 84
trans am with the fire chicken on the hood in austria it was black with the gold chicken on the
hood and it was coming out it's like is that a fiber yep couldn't believe that existed so we've
seen it but i but i have to say actually the the day i know that daisy is a joke i understand that
thing started with top gear again you know the daisy sandero blah blah blah daisy has some of
the best names for their cars that's the first thing and the second thing is i don't believe
that the corolla and the rav4 and the honda civic are the best-selling cars in the world
because i swear to you any stoplight you're sitting at it's half daisy of dusters yeah the
duster is everyone everyone has a duster i i knew they existed i had no idea so many of them
it's sold they are a lot everywhere from people's personal like for lack of better
way to put it like their jeep light their jeep alternative you see inspect that way you also
see them all the way up to delivery van but they're all dusters like how many of those are they making
unbelievable we were not the only c8 corvette out here which was crazy there was a stingray
and a 06 on the euro rally we've seen probably 56 other c8s cruising around
through these various countries so they get the same amount of tension you know c8 going by
but yeah the one that we're in is just sucking eyeballs to it it's just people are glued to
this car the fact that it looks like a race car livery helps it does so whoever's in you know
behind the c8 of us of our we're trading cars every day it's great it's fun to watch people's
reaction and so you know i'll be in the 9-11 Todd will be ahead of me and i'll watch people's
reactions i'm like what is it 9-11 what am i it's not nothing yeah it's true and then they
see that 9-11 and then i see their heads do this as if like are there more yeah you're right like i
saw two go by and do this i'm worried if we're gonna get rained on here we probably should wrap
this up soon i'm sorry about it being a short podcast a little bit different podcast for us
we wanted to catch you guys up on what we're experiencing i admit this is not as good a shot
as we had in prog but we're fine trying to find a location where we're not looking at the hotel
room wall so we can show you guys something i wish because it's a super wide angle lens you can't
see the the peaks of the dolomites as well as i wish you could but we'll have another podcast
probably from this trip we'll find another good backdrop for that do one more yeah but yeah i think
i think it may actually be just about to rain on us okay i have to do that i guess i mean we need to
thank you guys for supporting our sponsors including auto tempest griot's garage power stop
scp euro vredestein tires rsr nerberg when we partner with them for pilgrimage yeah we're so
excited to bring these films to you and it's fun to be candid once in a while it's fun to just
be out here and and uh yeah shoot the breeze so yeah sharing with you guys what we're doing we
thought it was a a worthwhile time to just connect and say here's how this trip is going and and
candidly tease you because these films are going to be huge and i'm gonna go ahead and tell you
because of all of our travel because we have pilgrimage coming up in august because of all
of our travel these films aren't going to hit until late august but we're trying to have a film
every single week so there's going to be a lot of prep and then a huge amount of this content
coming out and i am incredibly excited the drone's been my favorite tool it's been so much fun
but we're shooting everything we can see as much as we possibly can which is great fun
and it's great fun i'm i'm excited and terrified at the sheer volume of footage we're probably
going to come away with but we need that it's already good it'll make for good films we are
looking forward to the next podcast it'll probably be another update but we hope to dive into a few
more car debates you guys have been awesome at sending us all the stuff yeah really appreciate
to continue to write to us every day driver tv at gmail.com topic tuesday's car conclusions car
debates all of the topics that you can think of we love hearing from you guys and we love helping
out and we love hearing about when something makes sense or something clicks yeah and you
discover something new because we're certainly in discovery mode constantly we are so much on
this trip but it's great so we'll have more for you guys soon thank you for listening thank you
for watching and so much content that i i need you to watch because i think it's amazing so much
you do and we have to go let's see dinner don't footage leave again tomorrow and drive again
which is amazing another another we barely in italy so tomorrow is actually italy by the way
the amount of gas that we have put in these cars oh my lord and and the credit cards are
smoking we're trying not to tally it up we're just going in and going just just just take the car
put your hand over the yeah fill the uh-huh it was it was easier we were in romania and we don't
know the conversion and it's like it says 500 wrong like i don't even know what that means whatever
but now it's euros and so it hurts more it hurts it's coming to euros we're like
that's a big number okay well but these are big cars they're thirsty that's for sure it's all good
thank you guys until next time cheers everyone
About this episode
After a full week on a Euro rally, the Everyday Driver Car Debate crew is now “in Italy in the Dolomites,” recapping the rally’s fast, multi-country pace and the rally-like crowds they encountered. They connect the trip’s novelty to how time feels, then zoom in on logistics: pre-planned convoy guidance, parking in town squares, and filming stops. Along the way, they chase famous mountain roads (including Stelvio and Grossglockner) and compare how different countries handle speeding, passing, and lane discipline.
The guys have finished Eurorally 2026 and share updates from the Dolomites about their most current travels. Big thanks to @VredesteinTiresNorthAmerica and @fcpeuro for coming alongside us and helping us discover great roads in Europe!
