LIVE
The John Clay Wolf Show has appeared on Terrestrial Radio for a really, really, really long time.
So we dug into our pockets and on the other side of our d**k, we found something funny.
And yes, it's contagious.
Gather round as the Wolf Pack goes on this throwback adventure.
What's the damn deal is your boy DJ Pre-K with the John Clay Wolf Show up in the archives
and you know, working for a tough guy like John, sometimes you gotta regulate.
So I'm taking it back to when I had to press a whole mowing company in the middle of the show
for making too much damn noise.
John goes off and gets the plug pulled on the show and says, I handled it like a wuss,
but what they're not saying is the long guy looked like Machete.
Okay, check this out.
Is this son of a b**ch mowing outside again?
Yes.
You'll hear it.
Okay.
We have more out.
Volvo?
Yes.
Pre-K.
Yo.
You're a hard son of a b**ch, right?
You want me to go out there and wreck shots on this floor?
And I want you to call in and get on the show and get on the air.
Connect to yourself.
At least right now.
So because it's going to get real.
Yes.
I told them and them.
Wait, first you got to answer your own call.
Pre-K or I can answer.
I can answer you when you call in.
I'll see it.
Okay, you go ahead.
Yes, whatever.
So what's going on now?
What's going on is there's a guy mowing the lawn one story below us on a Saturday morning
during the live broadcast that we've been in this building for 12 years, 13 years, and
I've told him and not to do it.
So Pre-K is going to go pop a cap in his ass.
Oh, he's not.
That was the best to cap.
He's not busting.
I'm going to do it.
Because they said that you're not really hard, that you're faking this rapper, black guy,
want to be.
You're going to prove it.
Y'all want to hear a crime committed live on the air?
Yes, we do.
187.
I was just kidding about the bust of cap in his ass.
Do you need to borrow my BB gun?
Give me what y'all got.
I'll take the house.
I need you to put it on speaker.
I need you to walk up to him on speakerphone.
I need everybody to feel this thing.
Say, hey, haven't we told you not to do this?
And if he doesn't speak Spanish, do you speak Spanish?
Pequeño.
We'll work on it.
We run a radio show upstairs and we're hearing a lot of noise up there, man.
The boss man said that he told y'all not to do it during the morning over here.
You know what I'm saying?
Hey, can you hear me?
Hello.
Yeah, this is my boss right here.
Hey, senior.
Hello.
How long have you been maintaining this building?
How many?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
How long have you been doing it?
How many have you been leading?
Hey, is this the same guy that's been doing it for like five or ten years?
That's you.
Can you hear me?
No.
This is not a new one.
You know, if you knew that?
Yeah.
Okay, you don't do it here on Saturday morning.
This is after one o'clock on Saturday.
Do not mow or weedy or blow at this location on Saturday morning ever.
Comprinde?
So what time do you open the shop?
The shop is closed.
It's a no bueno.
What time do you open the shop?
One.
You know, maybe just after twelve.
But the only in the morning, what time do you open it?
Not here.
Not here.
Not here.
Saturday morning, we're doing a live national radio show out of this building.
This is not when you blow, weedy, nothing.
Zero.
Nada.
Policia.
Oh, dear God.
There's many talks to Nick, you know.
See what he says.
He's a good guy.
I've been here 12, 13 years.
I don't need it Saturday morning.
No, I can't come back in the morning.
No, not Saturdays.
Nothing on Saturday morning.
How about Friday?
How about yes?
How about yes?
Yes.
How about yes?
Yes.
How about yes?
Yes.
How about yes?
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
I'm going to blow it anyway.
Do not blow.
No.
We're all, we've got open microphones all over the country.
I know you don't understand what I'm saying, but please be quiet.
Yeah, that's how we get down.
All right.
Yep.
So it's Fridays now.
Thank you.
All right.
Back to, um, we agreed on Fridays like six months ago.
We agreed on Fridays like six years ago.
You want to reset what's going on for everybody?
I think it's pretty clear.
Right.
The other guy with the hat, he always did it on Fridays.
We had a moment like this, a couple of it.
Is that son of a bitch?
We have a mower outside our window and it's driving John to distraction.
It's a mower just outside of our window and we've asked him before not to do it on a Saturday
because we have a national broadcast station.
He had a show from this studio, but he continues to do so.
Now back to our action.
No, no, no, no.
You don't hear the mower?
I do.
It's going again.
I hear it.
This is insanity.
He didn't speak English.
Okay.
Pre-K.
Pre-K needs to be a little tougher.
Yeah.
Whatever.
He was way worse when he was talking to us.
Hey, sir.
Uh, uh, some Bobo down here.
Hey, the guy's still mowing outside the studio.
Okay.
Okay.
I mean, man up.
He's had a breath.
He just walked down a couple of flights to stare.
If he's going to be a badass, he's going to have to get in shape.
He's going to have to get tougher.
He's going to have to deliver more.
I'm going to work on that boy.
Pre-K.
Did you straighten out Jose, you know, B?
Yeah, man.
And A, if the police come, I need you to have my back.
Like for real, because it got live down there for a second.
I hear it again.
It's down there again?
Hear it?
Listen.
Yeah.
Hear it.
Hold on.
Let me reload my gun.
Oh, where is it?
What did they say when you were down there?
They said, uh, uh, C, C.
Okay.
But after you talked to the guy the first time, why did the other guy on the other side of
the building keep running?
Man, who knows?
I don't speak that language.
All right.
Don't be a racist.
Gracias.
All right.
800-800-723-4800-800.
We just been having this problem.
It comes and goes over the past decade, but for some reason the landlord got a new law.
I'm getting a new studio.
Did y'all know that?
Yes.
Everybody's excited.
For this exact reason.
Here we come.
That's Kathleen.
That's what I'm saying.
Good morning.
Hi, how are you?
Hey, Turley.
Bam and shut it.
How are you, ma'am?
I am just fine.
Nice day today.
That's beautiful.
I just wanted to agree with you.
Yeah, it is.
Well, it's only 44 here, but it won't up.
I just wanted to agree with you about the lawnmower.
I cannot stand it.
I'm a remote worker and I cannot stand mowing.
What's a remote worker?
That sounds sexy.
Remote worker.
Like you.
Is that an only thing?
No.
It's just, I just work from home.
I'm an accountant.
Oh.
Like so you do the role play with the sexy stuff.
I'm a remote worker.
I'm a remote worker.
I'm a remote worker.
I'm a remote worker.
I'm a remote worker.
I'm a remote worker.
I'm a remote worker.
So you do the role play with the sexy secretary accounting lady with the glasses?
Yes, sir.
All right.
What is your only fancy stream name?
How do we look it up?
I don't have one.
I'm for real a remote worker.
I'm an accountant.
Sexy worker at OKC.com.
All right.
That doesn't like lawnmower.
Yes.
But it does like lawn boys and command boys.
All right.
Thank you.
I do like po-boys.
So po-boys.com.
800-800-7234-800-800 radio.
So you don't, just all these distractions.
I know.
You guys, and during the break, I'm sorry.
I'm in a mode now.
Oh boy.
During the break, you guys are talking.
I'm sitting here trying to write this show.
I've got four hours of show to put together.
And you all are talking about some damn dog die.
Oh geez.
Here we go.
Bob's dog is sick.
The dog dying.
Yeah.
Just like Casey Kasem.
Play the whole bit.
I got to talk about a.
The little dog named Snuggles.
Yeah.
He was most certainly a part of.
Let's come start again.
From coming out of the record.
I feel like Casey here.
Listen now.
He starts losing it.
Please.
See when you come out of those up-tempo.
Damn numbers, man.
It's impossible to make those transitions.
And then you got to go into somebody dying.
You know, they do this to me all the time.
I don't know what the hell they do it for.
But if we can't come out of a slow record,
I don't understand it.
Is down on the phone.
Okay.
I want to concerted effort to come out of a record that isn't a.
Every time I do a death dedication.
Now make it.
And I also want to know what happened to the pictures I was supposed to see this week.
What?
This is a God last time.
I want somebody uses brain to not come out of a record.
That is that's up tempo.
And I got to talk about a fucking dog dying.
And you'll think I'm bitchy.
Up to our lawn.
And now we're up to our lawn just in this dedication.
Great.
Uncle Casey Casey Casey.
Greatness.
What's that cut again?
Casey until no bit.
But the quick hit.
Talk about a fucking dog dying.
Right.
So when I'm sitting here trying to write this show,
right and Bobbo and JD are talking like at above room level for 10 minutes.
That's not true.
It was room level.
No room level about.
Can you all just take it somewhere else?
Yes, we did.
Sorry about that.
We didn't know you could be a little more sensitive.
I was being sensitive to Bob's dog is sick.
I understand.
And I feel for Bob's beating dog.
Apparently not.
But I mean we do have a show to do and there's a senior.
You're making the mowers and you're taking that on me.
No matter both.
You don't need to talk somewhere else.
I'm trying to put this together.
The whole shows put together.
All you got to do is read the sheets man.
Somebody go shoot the guys back on the mower.
I hear a second here.
Pre-K please go back down there.
I'm serious.
Pre-K can you hear me?
Go back down there and tell the guy if he doesn't quit I got to call the police.
Call the police?
Yeah.
I mean police.
This is ridiculous.
Either that or the landlord is playing a trick on us and we're having a standoff.
If we're having a standoff I need to know because I need to get my gun.
I know you don't.
No, no, no.
Did you know?
Oh I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
You're right.
They knocked us off here across the country.
Did they?
Yeah.
We got the call during the break, John, this lawn mower situation could be misconstrued
as violence, I think you've taken it too far.
Really?
How long did we get knocked off here?
They pulled the plug off.
Two minutes?
Like a minute.
Wow.
They pulled the plug off Westwood One over the damn lawn mower.
Look at what these people are causing the problems with me.
I don't know.
Gigi, you're a therapist.
Therapize me.
Something's wrong.
Yeah, something's wrong.
You just can't do that.
You know what I mean?
You offend people and that's not okay.
Put out your hand so I can slap your wrist.
Now.
Don't do that.
You need to do it.
The only fans that just does that.
Gigi, did you get those guys straight down?
Yeah, I actually went down there and talked to them really nice and they were pretty
cool.
So why did they get back on the lawn mower when they knew we're doing a show in this
building?
Well, I think it was because you kind of talked to them like crazy.
You think so the second time they started the lawn mower back out, you think it was
vengeance?
Yeah, yeah, I went down there and just asked them real nice.
I said, please, they said, okay.
Okay.
So being nice does work?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Little, what's it saying?
You get more, honey's being fly?
Honey's being fly.
Something like that.
All right.
Well, thank you for fixing that.
The show.
That's been a problem for years.

About this episode
A throwback archive segment turns into a live-radio standoff over a lawnmower outside the studio during a national broadcast. DJ Pre-K and John Clay Wolfe trade escalating, comedic threats while repeatedly calling the mower operator out—complete with speakerphone confrontation and talk of police. The chaos briefly knocks them off-air, and a therapist/producer figure steps in to smooth things over. The episode ends with the lesson that calm, respectful communication works—plus the usual show chatter and listener call-ins.
Original notes
John's got a big problem with the local mowers making all kinds of noise during our live show so he sends his thug homie Pre Kay to rough 'em up, but it turns out he's more of a lover than a fighter. After going off on the lawn company, he's so fuming mad he gets the plugged pulled on the show! Luckily he has the support of his callers and cohosts, who resolved the issue amicably. I guess you get more honeys being fly!
