Amber driving lights are extra lights on a vehicle that shine yellow/orange. Some states allow them, but they may have rules about where and how you can use them—especially whether they can replace your main headlights.
A daytime running light is a light that turns on in the daytime so other drivers can see you better. It’s usually a separate LED light pattern from your headlights.
Projector LED lights are LEDs that go through a lens to aim the light in a controlled pattern. That usually helps them light the road better and can reduce blinding other drivers.
A fairing is the motorcycle’s outer body panels. If it’s redesigned, the shape has been changed—often to improve airflow and how the bike sits and looks.
A chassis protector is an extra shield for the bike’s frame area. It helps keep the underside from getting damaged, and it can usually be taken off so you can do maintenance.
Here, “clips” refers to a mounting method where the skid plate/chassis protector attaches using snap-in or clip-on fasteners instead of traditional bolts. This can make removal faster for tasks like oil changes while still keeping the protector securely in place.
Hogworks makes aftermarket motorcycle parts. The host says they trust the parts and customer support enough to run them on their own bikes.
Brand
Hardy Davidson
This sounds like the host meant Harley-Davidson, a well-known motorcycle brand. They’re talking about aftermarket parts—upgrades you add to a bike beyond the factory setup.
The Jeep Commander is a larger SUV meant to carry people and gear. It’s built for everyday driving, but it’s also designed to be useful when you need more space. It’s often discussed as a family-oriented vehicle with a Jeep-style focus on practicality.
Canbus (CAN bus) is a vehicle communication system that lets electronic modules “talk” to each other. On many modern motorcycles, it’s used to manage lighting and detect faults, so LED upgrades often need Canbus compatibility to avoid flicker or warning lights.
Metzeler Cruze Tech is a particular motorcycle tire model. The hosts are saying it grips better and is worth switching to, based on how it compares to the tire they used before.
The Chevrolet Cruze is a regular, everyday car meant for getting around town and on highways. Some versions include extra features, so people may talk about one “Tech” version being better than another. That’s usually about what equipment the car has, not about it being a different type of vehicle.
“Quicker wearing” means the tire doesn’t last as long before the tread gets worn down. Usually that’s because the rubber is softer, which can grip better but wears out faster.
Low-speed training means practicing control maneuvers slowly, where you can feel how the bike responds. The host is using that kind of practice to judge how the tires hold up when you’re working the bike carefully.
“Bar locked” means the handlebars are turned all the way to one side. Doing that at low speed is a tough test of how well the tires and bike stay stable while you’re making a tight turn.
This means the bike is leaned over really far—close to scraping parts of the bike. The host is using that as a way to see if the tire still feels secure at extreme lean.
“Harley tax” means you often pay extra just because the part is meant for Harley bikes. The host is saying these tires cost less because you’re not paying that extra brand premium.
High speed cornering means turning quickly while still keeping control and traction. At higher speeds, tires have to work harder to keep you from sliding. The host is talking about which tires feel steadier when you’re going fast through a turn.
Here, “input” means what you do with your body and controls to make the bike turn—like steering and shifting your weight. Some tires respond faster and feel easier to place into a turn, while others take a bit more effort. The speaker is comparing how much effort it takes to get the bike set and then keep it there.
The apex is the inside “closest point” you try to reach while turning. Getting to it helps you set up the turn so you can straighten out and accelerate better. The speaker is saying the tires affect how much effort it takes to reach that point.
“Hold that line” means the bike stays on the same turning path you planned, instead of wandering. Good tires make it easier to keep your trajectory without constantly correcting. The host is saying one tire stays planted once you get it set.
Low-speed maneuvers are slow, tight turns—like weaving through cones. Tires can behave differently at low speed, so the rider is checking whether they still grip well when you’re turning sharply.
“Tar snakes” are sticky-looking tar-filled cracks in the road. When your tire hits them, it can feel slippery or weird for a moment, especially when you’re leaning hard.
The Pontiac Chieftain is an older, classic-style car made by Pontiac. It’s usually discussed because it’s a recognizable model from the past. If you see one today, it’s typically a collector or restoration project rather than a modern daily driver.
“High silica” means the tire rubber has an additive that helps it grip better on wet roads. It’s meant to reduce slipping when there’s water on the pavement.
Grooves in the tire help push water out of the way. Longer/extra grooves can help the tire keep traction when you’re riding in the rain and leaning into turns.
Instead of just testing in a lab, the host rode the bike in real conditions. They’re using things like rain, gravel, and different temperatures to judge how the tire behaves.
Term
standing Roddy 30 water
The host is describing lots of rain with water sitting on the road. That’s a tough test for tire grip, because standing water can make tires lose traction.
A performance tire is made to help your bike handle better—especially for grip and cornering. It’s usually about riding feel more than just making the tire last forever.
Car
Michelin Commander Threes
Michelin Commander Threes are a type of motorcycle tire made for regular riding and longer life. The hosts say they can be less grippy in corners and in rain than a more performance-focused tire.
Car
Michelin Commander twos
Michelin Commander twos are an older version of the same Michelin Commander tire series. They’re being compared to the newer Commander Threes in terms of how well they grip, especially in wet conditions.
“Spinning” here means the tire is slipping on the road instead of gripping it. Rain or low-traction surfaces make this more likely, and it can make the bike harder to control.
Metzeler CruiseTech is a motorcycle tire the host calls “sticky,” which means it grips the road well. They say it feels more stable in corners than the Michelin Commander III.
Dunlop AE2 is another street motorcycle tire. The host thinks it sits between the Michelin and Metzeler for grip, and they’re planning to test it so they can compare it to the others.
A “variant” is basically the specific version of a tire. Even if it’s the same tire name, different variants can have different specs, so you need the right one for your bike.
Front and rear tires are usually different sizes on a motorcycle. You have to choose the correct size for the front wheel and the correct size for the rear wheel.
Metzler Cruztak is a particular brand/model of motorcycle tire. The discussion here is about whether the store carries the exact size you need for your bike.
LIVE
Put the fucking mic on.
Hey, back all, Xero 3D has a wide variety of innovative products for your hard drive.
Davidson and a brand new line for the all new Honda Gold, named Goldstrike.
I like gold.
Top quality, affordable chrome lighting and comfort products for our Goldstrike are the
Motorcycle LED lighting innovators for Canbus Plug and Play System compatibility.
Head over to lawbuddingbiker.com for a short check on our full line of Xero 3D products.
I know you want to hear it again.
There you go.
We debuted that on another podcast, but I wanted to play that again.
It's an upcoming buffer revamp video because there's some different choices and things
have been streamlined a little bit, so stay tuned to the lawbuddingbiker YouTube channel
so you know when that comes out there, guys.
Hogwarts builds motorcycle parts the way bikers want them.
That's why I run them on my bike and the guys around here do too.
Clean fit, quality finish and customer service that actually answers.
Yep, check out their full selection, excuse me, our full selection of Hogwarts products
right here in the lawbuddingbiker store.
We are adding some.
I just added a few more last night and remember they sell out a lot of stuff and we have access
to it all, so just if you don't see it in our store, hit us up on the contact form.
We'd be glad to do a custom order for you for shipping over $100, no sales tax.
If you live outside Washington state, you got some store stuff you want to promote Lurch.
Yeah, we've got the new.
Speaking of, that's what I added last night.
Yeah, I saw that.
So a lot of times when we get ready to do these episodes and I need to find store items
to promote, I can just go into our new listings and it shows me all the new stuff that we
put in there.
And these are some of the most recent ones as of last night.
We've got the Hogwarts LED silver tooth and gold tooth performance headlights for the
Harley Street Glide, the 23 and a half newer, those are the bikes with the new fairing.
It's a very, go ahead.
So I have one, I don't know if you knew this because we, we've been busy and I haven't
talked.
So one's on the way.
Okay.
Um, Hogwarts set and went over.
Oh yeah.
Okay.
I did see that.
Yeah.
I reached out and they're going to Derek's.
Yeah.
Derek, we're going to say there.
So he just answered me because I really want this on my street light.
It is a sexy light, the silver tooth.
Okay.
Yeah.
I'm not too sure.
I like the yellow lighting.
Um, and I'm not even sure that's legal here in Washington state.
I don't think it is.
It has to be a white, just like the blues are legal.
So yeah, I think you can have amber driving lights.
Correct.
But you can't, can't be your main head.
Correct.
I'm aware of.
So check your state and federal local laws, but I'm going with regular white.
That's the silver tooth.
The gold tooth is the yellow version.
It's sexy.
You guys have probably seen it out there.
It's super bright and I just love the way it looks compared to the stock.
And so we'll be doing a full install video on that and it will release.
And when that video is available, you can head over to the le hog works, led silver
tooth or gold tooth listings in the lobbying bar store, scroll to the bottom in the video.
We'll be there for you.
It's going to be sexy.
I'll do some night shots with it.
I'll do a stock versus that one because it's going to be brighter.
I'll tell you that right now.
Yeah, it's got 10 projector led lights and a unique daytime running light.
That's that amber part of it, I believe.
I was trying to see if they made a similar one for your road glide, but they don't
right now.
No, I don't think so.
Yeah.
With those same, just make two of them like that.
They will.
They will.
I'm sure.
They do have other lights that we're working on getting in the store to for the road
glides, new road glides.
They've got.
Hog works.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
We saw one.
We're down in Daytona.
It's kind of the, they kind of look like the Denali destroyer or the, the shark demon,
the, the, the designs, uh, dynamic dynamics, custom dynamics designs, you know, where
you have kind of like individual headlights and if a visual turn signals, it's a performance
bagger look.
Yep.
They've got something.
It's a kit.
We're working on that as well.
And we get to the custom dynamics ones too, guys.
We're a dealer for everything.
So as far as those companies go, so if you see the CD one customer next one, you want
hit us up.
We'll get it.
We just don't have a list in the store yet.
I didn't see those.
Are those live?
The hug works one on there.
Not on our, not on our site yet, but they have them on theirs.
I will look.
Okay.
It's kind of hard to find sometimes a little bit on there.
So depending on how you search it.
So ours is definitely much more searchable.
I found.
Yeah.
I'll, I'll earmark that and I'll come back to it, uh, as, as you take over, I'll look
and then we'll, I'll confirm.
Yeah.
Perfect.
Perfect.
Um, and then there's a new skid plate out.
Um, you've seen our videos on the skid plate for the, the new bikes up in particular, uh,
because of 23 and a half newer with the, uh, redesigned faring, you've got some waterlines
and electrical stuff that runs underneath there and there was a short skid plate, almost
something similar to you see it on like an adventure bike or a dirt bike, you know, it's
the kind of that style, um, skid plate up underneath.
Well, now they've got one that basically covers the whole bottom of the bike and it
covers a lot more, um, uh, different types of bikes.
The bottom of the bike really hasn't changed a lot.
You know, there's been a lot of changes to the, the suspension and the neck and all that
kind of stuff.
But when it comes to the bottom frame, it's very similar.
In fact, on the touring bikes, it'll fit from 98 up to, uh, the 2025 models because there's
was some changes in 26, but it's a skid plate and chassis protector.
It covers the whole bottom and instead of being bolted on, uh, it basically has clips
that mount to the, uh, protector and then they, they, uh, pop on to your frame so you
can pop it off for oil changes and whatnot, but it covers the whole bottom of the bike
and that's available for the 98 to 2005 touring models and also the 2018 to present soft tail
model. So if you want some protection, you want to, you know, protect that whole thing
underneath there, there's an option for you.
Pretty basic.
Yeah, we will.
We will.
Yeah, definitely, definitely.
Cool.
Um, yeah, we'll be doing a video on that new and I'm sure they just don't have it yet
for 26 in New York cause they made some changes, but I'm sure at some point, um, they'll, uh,
get that, uh, uh, updated.
I'm sure then we'll make that listing in our store, of course.
I got mail.
Yay.
I got mail.
You want to handle this?
It's the saber tooth is the light I was thinking of.
Yeah, but yeah, cool.
Uh, yes, I will handle that.
So this is actually a review product review and it's from Michael Martin and it's a review
of the Krause Easy Shift.
He says, installed the easy shift on my 2020 heritage as having an extremely hard time
finding neutral while the bike was running after installation, finding neutral was significantly
improved while the bike was off on a trip into town the next day, finding neutral while
stopped at a stoplight and stop signs was very much improved, not eliminated, but improved.
I'm very happy with the product and would recommend to anyone with the same issue.
It's a quality, uh, product that fits very well.
Installation was a breeze.
It is a very quality product.
It's made of American billed aluminum here in America precision, uh, milled.
It's, it's a nice piece of, uh, hardware.
Yeah.
We've, uh, and of course head over to the easy shift in the law-abiding biker store.
That's EZ, the letter E and Z and, uh, or Krause care, a U S and, uh, scroll to the
bottom that, uh, that product is blowing up for us.
The video blew up.
The product blew up.
We can't keep it on the shelves.
We are doing very good these days at keeping a good amount of stock, um, cause they just
go so fast.
But, uh, yeah, uh, remember free shipping over a hundred dollars and that, uh, no sales tax
if you don't live on Washington state guys to get the Krause easy shift in our store.
All righty.
Let's do this thing.
We got some tire talk.
We got to talk about today.
Welcome back.
You freaking back.
Alex, this is the podcast for the motorcycle majority.
The big M M also known as the 99% large in charge of the motorcycle scene by being
there by listening to part of what we call the hashtag biker revolution.
We have one question before we get started.
Mount up and let us take you wait, wait, hold on.
What are you waiting for?
My dogs.
Mount up and let us take you on another wild ass ride.
Did I stop short on you?
You did.
I think I did, dude.
Uh, Ryan, I'd like to hear your host of the law biting biker podcast and of course your
high tech redneck.
So a new couple of new free videos Lurch wants to mention.
Yeah, absolutely.
Uh, the first one is this more cycle tool kit looks good until you actually use it.
Whatever writer must know.
And that's a review of the cruise tools kits.
We love our cruise tools, broken them out many times on trips to, uh, you know, tighten
things up or even do some pretty major work, uh, just all the tools you need.
Another crappy don't in a nice little package.
And the other one is I tested heated more cycle gear for years.
Here's what actually works.
And that's a review of the Gerbing gear.
We've brought it in a lot of biking biker store, uh, nothing against first gear,
some of the other ones, um, but we found Gerbing to be the best.
Yeah, that video blew up too.
And that's when we really started selling a lot of Gerbing and the videos embedded
at the bottom of that listings guys for Gerbing stuff, but I tested a lot of stuff
over many years as a police motorcycle over everything from Amazon to quality stuff,
to cheap stuff, what works, what doesn't.
I go through it all in that video.
So go check that out.
Yep.
There'll be links to those videos in the show notes.
Want to thank some of our newest patron members here in, uh, yeah, go ahead, Lurch.
Terry for a of Gonzales, Louisiana, Gregory Seraphine of locations unknown and Jim Hess
of Palatine, Illinois.

And of course you're around 10% off patron member discount code
on everything in the law abiding biker store.
Definitely.
We appreciate you considering becoming a member here in 2026.
Stop standing on the outside looking in, get on in here.
Get on in here.
Get on in here now.
You're dang it.
Okay.
Our main topic today, uh, we're going to talk about, um, the best performance motorcycle
tires in our opinion and my opinion, um, based on experience, some testing.
Um, but, uh, we will, uh, break that down.
So first I want to talk about, uh, a, uh, so I did a video on this and so
I want to tell you, uh, we've been really busy.
And so what happened is, um, it is an understatement.
And so I literally, we've been so busy.
Usually I would have did a video on this right away.
I'm always good at doing videos and stuff.
Uh, so what happened is, um, I've been doing videos over the past, uh, well, since
basically seven weeks.
Uh, and I, you have not noticed because I've been taking my arm sling, my right arm sling
off just for the videos, which brings up another topic, which I'll talk about because
my mom got busted, called me and chewed my ass.
You guys got to hear this.
So we'll, we'll save that.
I did a video, just a talking head video on this.
Finally, just a week ago at the time of the recording of this podcast to kind of let
everybody know, because a couple of people had come into the store and the cat was out
of the bag because sometimes I'm out front and, uh, uh, sometimes I'm back here with
meetings and working.
I can't come out front, but, and they immediately saw me in the sling and like,
what's up?
So I'm like, yeah, I've been meaning to do a video.
I'm not trying to hide it.
I'm not trying to be like secretive about it.
I just literally could not take the time and I didn't want to have it on in videos
because then a ton of people would ask in the comments and I didn't want to explain it
right then.
So I'm going to explain it to you here now.
Uh, so basically what happened is, um, back in late October, uh, 2025, I, it was a long
time kind of in the making.
So I'd been riding hard Enduro all season along with street bikes, of course, doing a
lot of hard Enduro training on my two stroke.
Then I got an electric hard Enduro bike, my Surron Ultra B, and I was doing training
on that and I was going to the mountains a lot and I noted.
I, now I broke my ankle.
If you remember that back in 2025, early season, but it healed up and I got back on.
So I was doing training.
Well, then my shoulder was like kind of bothering me and then it would kind of, I'd go home
and, and I, and I'd let it sit like a week and not ride hard Enduro, but it was definitely
bothering me and I would ice it and heat it and then it would get better.
And I thought it's just like, you know, I mean, you get sore when you do hard extreme
sports like that.
I mean, different parts of me get sore because of that.
So I kind of just kept messing around with it.
And then of course, just the way my personality is, I'm not one to take it easy on myself
and kick back.
I'm like, it feels a little better, better.
I'm going to go train some more.
And I probably in hindsight didn't give it long enough and it was probably already,
my rotator covers a priority, a little bit torn.
And so I kept writing, well, late October and I was doing some hard Enduro training
and it was hurting when I went to train and, and I pushed it.
I worked trained hard for like four hours straight.
And because I was loosened up a little bit, it wasn't bothering me as bad, but not one
particular incident caused it because it was probably already torn.
But I literally, it was at the end of my training.
I'm sweating.
I'm soaked.
I'm about ready to go home.
And I got to practice a few more wheelies and I was practicing a wheelie on my Surron.
And I literally just brought the front end down the wheelie.
And I was just a little bit off balance and I just put my feet down like I always did
and brought the front end down with the rear brake.
And I was just so tired.
I just a little bit lost my footing on the dirt right there.
And I just fell.
It wasn't even a spectacular.
I was stopped and I just fell over on my right shoulder and I felt something that I had not
felt before.
And I was like, Oh, I actually have it on video, believe it or not.
I didn't share that because I on that video, but here's the deal by colleagues.
Hogworks is built around two things writers actually care about high quality parts
and customer service that stands behind them.
That's why they become a go to for Hardy Davidson and Indian aftermarket upgrades.
And we're not just talking here.
We run Hogworks parts on our own bikes because we want gear that fits right,
looks right and holds up in the real world.
If you want to upgrade with confidence, check out the wide array of Hogworks products
we proudly carry in the law-abiding biker store.
Grab what you need and get back to riding.
And if you don't see it in our store, hit us up on our contact form
because we'd love to get it headed your way because it was alive.
That's why.
But and I was like, Oh, time to go home.
That really, you know, hurt and I should probably call it.
And I still didn't think I was like, Yeah, it's just a shoulder, whatever.
And so then over the next week, shit, it got bad and shit wasn't getting better.
And my oldest daughter from college was in town.
And sometimes even though you're an adult, it takes your kid to talk sense into you
like you do them.
And she's like, I wasn't going to go to the doctor.
And she's like, dad, you need to go to the doctor.
Everything you told me, you need to go to the doctor.
So then I started researching.
Oh, shit, it's probably a torn rotator cuff.
Sure enough, went in, CAT scan, all the noise.
Yep, went in.
Yep, you've got a torn rotator cuff in multiple places.
They said at that time it was just one when he got in there.
So, so then basically I'm injured, but I already have commitments.
I was really stressed and God works in mysterious ways.
I did a lot of praying about it.
I'd already committed to Hardy Davidson to go to the very next week, four days later,
because that was a weekend that I heard it.
It was four days later, I was supposed to already, already set up.
Hardy was flying me to Florida, South of Orlando.
And I was supposed to test the 2026 police road glide.
Now I was in a lot of pain and I was on heavy doses of ibuprofen.
And the doc gave me some eloxicam, just as heavier, longer lasting ibuprofen basically.
And I just dosed myself.
I couldn't even get my luggage in like the overhead with two hands.
I mean, I had no movement.
It was horrible.
Anyways, get to Florida.
I didn't tell anybody.
I just the way I am, I didn't want to lose the opportunity.
And I knew that I could push through and I didn't tell Hardy,
because I didn't want them to think I was hurt or anything like that.
And I'm fine.
And so I just went, kept my mouth shut.
Now you'll see me in that video review.
If you'll watch for that 2026 road glide police bike review.
At such time, you see me doing bar lock turns in front of a couple people.
I was in excruciating pain under that helmet and the shields closed.
All I can tell you is it hurt.
It actually gave me the little bit of vomiting, you know.
But I just didn't make a stink and I did it.
And I was so glad that I did it because the video just,
I needed to do that on that bike.
And I pushed through and I was on ibuprofen, got through it.
And then we went and did the rest of our writing.
Okay. So I made that event.
The other thing was I knew I'd already committed to Indian motorcycles.
They were in January going to fly me to LA to test the new chief vintage
and that whole thing.
And I did a video on that too.
Now I didn't tell them either.
Nothing.
And by that time I had started doing exercises at home
and it was definitely better.
I still bugged me at night and I couldn't lay in certain positions,
but I wasn't in and the Indian vintage, that chief vintage,
that didn't require any like hardcore writing.
It's just testing a bike on the open road with a bunch of other YouTube channels.
So that trip wasn't as bad.
I was still on ibuprofen and stuff, but got through that.
I didn't say that.
And then I also knew that we had already had an obligation to go to Daytona Bike Week.
And I would flew into Charleston, South Carolina and then rode into Daytona.
Lurch met me in Daytona where we were testing the 2026 Limited.
That video's out too.
So again, my arm was actually still very not well, but much, much better.
In fact, I was able, I didn't do a ton of pulling,
but I was able to do some pretty good wheelies on the new 26 Limited in that video.
Pretty good.
I'd say pretty impressive.
Yeah, it was by the best one I've seen so far.
Yeah.
From you.
A couple good ones.
That's not a juiced up.
Yeah, right.
Right.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Luckily I didn't pull much.
I use mostly, you know, I've learned to do those better over time.
Not use so much arm pull, but so obviously I was in a position where I could do that.
It still bugged me, but it was much, much better because I was doing my exercises
and I was keeping it stretched and things like that.
And the initial injury had tamed down just a little bit.
So here's what happened.
So backing up after I go into the doctor and find out in late October, early November,
that it was torn, you got options.
And any of you have dealt with this, you know, and I got a lot of comments on the YouTube video
about people that have had it or currently have an injury, but basically you've got two options.
It's a very common injury, but here's your two options.
They do these surgeries all the time, but a shoulder injury sucks.
The recovery sucks.
So a lot of people don't want to do surgery and they'll try to fight through with PT, physical therapy.
You can get it back.
You can get it somewhat back.
I tell you this, it will never, if it's truly torn, it will never be the same.
And you'll deal with it the rest of your life.
And if I was 80, 85, of course, then, you know, just you're not riding maybe hard and
duro on the mountains anymore.
I'm very, I'm middle age and I have a lot left to give and I'm pretty athletic and I like to
ride hard and there's no way that I'm going to let this injury dictate the rest of my life.
So if you wait too long, there's like a six months, sometimes a year.
What happens is if you leave it torn and you're not going to get surgery,
there's a point at which it retracts and they can't.
It just goes into arthritis and things.
They can't pull it back over.
It's not, it's not young enough and an injured to pull it back over.
So you got to make a decision and I know guys, a lot of comments that I
should have done the surgery and I didn't.
Now they can't do anything and I have to deal with this the rest of my life.
So, but the recovery does suck.
I'm not going to lie to you, but it's going to be totally worth it.
So I looked at my doctor and I said, listen, here's the deal.
I've got this, this, this.
How soon do I need to do it?
That's when I found out everything.
So what happened is he says, you can wait.
He goes, I've looked at all your tissue.
It's good.
It's good.
Even if you wait a couple months, then three months, four months, we're good.
So I looked at all my obligations that I'm doing Harley in November.
I'm doing Indian in January and in March, I'm definitely doing Daytona for Harley.
So I said March 12th because we got back the 10th, I believe.
Yeah.
It's something like that.
It was just a couple of days before your surgery.
Yeah.
We got back and I knew as soon as I get back from Daytona,
all my obligations are over as far as that goes.
Then I just got to run the business and all that.
And I can do a lot of that even injured.
And so March 12th went under the knife and basically a couple hour surgery and very,
it was successful and it was everything he thought it was and it was torn.
And basically what they do, it's my right shoulder.
They take a couple of screws, screw in, and then they take a couple.
It's like thick ass sutures.
I call them like little twine because I watch the video,
but they basically tie it around the rotator cuff and they pull it back over your bone.
And with the screws, you know, and they tie it off.
And then the key is, is to get it to reattach.
And so that they don't want you to do anything.
So that's where I've been bringing it back to where we were is the past 67 weeks.
In fact, I've been out of the sling a week now at the time of the recording.
But as of the first six weeks, this is week seven.
I had to wear that sling and they want very little movement.
I could work a mouse, you know, is in tight.
You know, you can't stretch it out.
You can't even like, you can see me now.
I see it with one hand.
I was actually doing, I'm resting this because I don't have enough strength to keep it off the table,
but I'm able to reach up and push the, but Lurch knows at first I had to do everything
with my left hand because there's nothing I could do to do that.
So I'm being careful still, but in tight, but no lifting.
No, they, the reason is they want, they need it to attach before you start physical therapy.
They really want to make sure they used to get you into physical therapy back in the day real
quick, but a lot of people retore, they weren't ready for physical therapy.
So nowadays the new procedure is six weeks, take it easy.
And then we'll get you out of the sling.
Then you'll go into physical therapy and you'll work your way up.
So that's where I'm at now.
I start physical therapy in about another week.
They couldn't get me in for a couple of weeks, but I'm doing physical therapy a little bit on
my own cause it's out of the sling.
And I'm starting to do things like this where I'm reaching out a little bit,
as long as it doesn't cause too much pain.
And I know that I'm not pushing it too much, but I definitely am getting more movement,
massage. I just had a massage this morning that helps tremendously in and around it to
get blood flow and healing.
But I'm on the road to recovery.
And so my mom's story, so talking about the videos, not doing the videos, the sling in
the videos, because I didn't want a bunch of questions.
So my mom knows, and I think we did, we did the figurati magnetic reusable oil filter video
about five days after my surgery.
Remember that?
And I had no movement in my arm and I was like, we got to do this video.
I need to get this product cause we had a whole, I knew it was going to be hot and it was hot.
We'll just tell you that that video blew up and we cannot keep those things on our shelf.
Great product.
But I was like, we got to do it.
And I was still on oxycodone at the time because I was in so much pain at night.
You got to sleep for like at least five weeks.
You can't lay, you sleep.
It's not really sleep.
You're sitting in a recliner and you close your eyes.
It's just too painful to lay that does not like laying flat.
Anyways, so I was kind of groggy, but I had scripted that video pretty good.
I knew what I wanted to say, but I took my brace off,
slaying off my arm to do the video.
And I'm using most male left hand, but I'm in tight so I can unscrew the filter.
You can use your wrist and stuff.
And so nobody would really even know.
No, you're basically resting your arm on the table.
Yeah, on the workbench or whatever, or the toolbox.
But so then I get, so I could do the video.
I release it, get a phone call, it's mom.
And I got, you're never too old to get chewed out by your mom.
Your mom's your mom, no matter what.
And I had to just chuckle.
And she says, now you got to know my mom, Pegster,
and she follows the channel.
Actually, she's, she's one of the biggest fan.
I don't know if she's ever ridden a motorcycle, but she, she is.
She's a big fan and she follows our stuff and she knows all the guys.
And she said, I just saw your new video release.
I get, yeah, what did you think?
I saw you not in your sling.
And you know that you need that to attach.
And she gave me the whole mom thing and you know the consequences of it.
And I said, I just, and I get it.
I get it.
You can't even get mad at your mom.
On my, in my defense, I explained to my mother that actually mom,
the doctor said that I can take the sling off for periods of time,
even when I'm just using a computer or a mouse in close.
If I'm resting and I'm not doing things I'm not supposed to be doing with it.
And so I kind of calmed her down about that.
That I was like, I actually, the doc said I could.
So, but it was a funny story.
And you just realize your mom's still watching out for even an old age.
So that is the rotator cuff story and where I'm at today,
but I am on the road to recovery.
And basically, oh, the other window, why I was trying to do it March,
I didn't want to wait after Daytona.
Cause that's the, that's why I say God works in mysterious ways
and all my prayers.
And he let me do all that because in July,
we leave for 12 days, 18 state ride and doc film in the Northeast.
So that gives me exactly the amount of time for the six weeks in my brace, physical therapy.
So I'll be back on a street bike, no problem by then.
Now I won't be riding hard enduro and that kind of stuff probably till August.
When we get back August sometime in there.
So I hope, depending on how it's doing to start getting some enduro riding in
late summer, August, September, as we go into the fall, cause I am, I'm missing it.
These guys are riding their bikes.
Javan, assistant store manager, of course, Lurch, they're riding their bikes
and it's killing Lou, the studio dog who loves riding because he hears them fire their bikes
and he's staring at me every morning like that.
It's beautiful today.
It's like 70 degrees here finally and it's killing me.
It's killing him, but on the road to recovery,
that is the torn rotator cuff story.
So there you go.
I finally spilled it.
All right.
Now Lurch diving into our main topic.
We're going to talk tires, right?
Yeah.
And I want to give credit to Bob Dawson on this.
We're talking about tires and he goes, you got to try the Metzger cruise text.
They're awesome.
They're a sticky tire and you were at, you were at the point where you needed to do some tires
and we were looking around which ones to get and I shared that with you and you're like,
all right, let's try it.
So we got the Metzger cruise text on your 2024 street glide and we got that done last year
just right before our Canada trip.
Yeah.
And why don't you explain?
So basically I had done a video in the past, quite a few years ago,
because as a police motorcycle officer for many years and of course on the bikes,
they were running the Dunlops.
We were running the OEM Dunlops.
I will say, before I forget, our local motors unit switched over.
I got them switched over to Metzger cruise texts.
Yeah.
We're stocking them here for them so they can come pick them up when they need them.
Yeah.
And we're not just stocking it for them.
We're stocking it for you guys.
So you can, we sell the Metzger cruise texts.
We're going to talk about that.
We're probably being in Mitchell and Commander twos a little bit to this conversation.
American elite.
And American elite, right?
Dunlop.
Yes.
AE2.
Yep.
Yep. No longer.
Oh, sorry.
That's right.
They're no longer the American elite.
They're the AE2.
AE2.
They were made in America.
They're now made in Japan.
Yeah.
But they still call them AE2.
Well, they called them American Eagles before and they switched it to AE2.
Okay.
Yeah.
So that'll probably come into the conversation.
But so basically I did the Dunlop OEM years ago.
I love that tire.
I think they're a great tire.
I mean, especially for a OEM tire.

When you look at cars and particular trucks, the tires they put on there,
generally speaking, are just good enough to get you out the door.
And they're really soft and they're nice and quiet, but they do not last very long.
They go pretty quick.
The Dunlop OEM tires, on the other hand, I think are a great tire.
Before I had access to all these other tires, I would just go down to Harley,
pay the Harley tax and get the Dunlop OEM tire.
Yep. With that said, never tested anything else.
So you knew what you knew, right?
And so we're definitely not talking bad about it.
I think the Metzler Cruze Tech is better.
I'm sold on it and that's what this is about.
I'm going to tell you why, that I think you should probably make the swap,
especially if you're a rider like what I like to do.
And I know a lot of you do out there too.
But so the Dunlop, we ran them, they're real good and wet rather.
They're a normal, I would say, quicker wearing tire in comparison to a harder compound.
They're a softer compound.
But I really wanted to test this Metzler Cruze Tech.
I had heard good things about it.
And again, I want to make sure it was worthy to recommend and bring it to the bike or store.
And I remember all the tires we're going to talk about, they are.
We ship them all the time, guys.
Remember, it's an expensive item, free shipping.
You get free shipping in the lower 48 and no sales tax if you live outside Washington state.
So there's savings to be had and we're priced as good as anybody else.
There are some platforms that will charge tax.
So if you're going through, I think, Facebook and maybe using the shop app,
you may get taxed.
So just be aware and just purchase directly through our site.
Yeah, don't use any of those apps, guys.
Go straight to the law-abiding bike or store.
They all try to take money from you.
That's not us.
That's them.
So go straight to the law-abiding bike or store to make purchases.
I'll tell you that right now.
Good call.
Good call on that.
So I won the Metzler Cruze Tech on before we went to our Canada trip,
in which we rode about 5,000 miles.
There's a two-part documentary film out right now.
There may or may not be a part three.
It's not looking good with as busy as we are,
because there's no chance in hell that I could get a free second right now.
So that's the main parts of the trip, part one and part two.
You got every condition on that trip,
other than if you would have rode it on one of the ice fields and got some snow.
We got everything else.
We did.
And so if you watch those doc films,
you'll see that we had a lot of rain, substantial rain and sustained rain.
We also rode quite a distance off-road on some old roads to get up to a glacier.
So I got to test them on pavement.
Rain like Lurch says in a lot of different stuff.
It was really good timing to get them on, to really put them to the test.
And of course, we went out and you'll see in the video that I did.
This is, if you go to Metzler Cruze Tech tires in the law-abiding biker store,
scroll to the bottom of the videos right there for you.
I also did a bunch of, Lurch went out with me and I did a bunch of low-speed
technical training, like I would on my police bike,
to really put them to that low speed where you're bar locked,
leaned all the way over into the frame type stuff to really see how they held.
So I got to, like I say, really put them through the full test.
I felt like it was, I felt like by the time I did the review,
I was like, I was prepared and thought I had my thoughts together.
So the Metzler Cruze Tech, it is a direct replacement for the OEM, all right?
And it is a, what I'll say about it is it's a stickier tire.
But it's going to wear about the same as the OEM Dunlop, all right?
What's the pricing?
They're cheaper because you're not paying the Harley tax for OEM, right?
You found them to be stickier even than the OEM tires, right?
Okay. Yeah, I'll look up pricing while you're talking.
I did. I definitely found them to be even grippier feeling than the
stock Dunlop OEM tires. Again, I'm not trying to trash those.
I did a review on them back in the day and I loved them,
but now I found something better in my opinion.
So they're going to wear about the same.
We're going to get about the same amount of miles out of them.
And here's what I'll tell you about them.
So because we rode in so much rain up there and standing water,
I was absolutely thrilled at their wet weather and road performance.
I obviously ride pretty aggressively just with all the training.
And I was a motorcycle instructor well within my abilities,
but I can lay it, you know, really lean it over and whether that's higher speed
or lower speed, I've been on high speed tracks and train there too.
I can really put those tires and put them to the test.
So the wet weather within reason, it was amazing because we would come out of a corner
and I would actually try to, I don't use rain modes and stuff like that.
They're great to have on a bike, but I don't ever use any of those modes.
My rain mode is my own throttle hand because I know what I can and can't do with it
and even run it in sport mode and rain.
I don't care, but I would grab a little bit and try to get it to walk just a little bit,
even with traction control off.
And even with it on, it's going to walk just a little bit before it kicks in.
But within reason, I would try to get it to walk just a little bit.
Now with the Dunlops, depending on, in every roads different and it's got different oils,
I get it. Sometimes on my police bike, I was able to get it to walk before I,
it would keep walking if I kept throttling it, but I would back off a little bit
just to see if I could get it to just slip a little bit.
But these freaking things just held to the road.
I was so, it gave me a lot of confidence is what I'll say.
Once I figured out their parameters and what they couldn't, couldn't do,
I had the utmost confidence riding at decent speeds.
We were through the rain, sustained rain up there in Canada.
Now, talking about, you know, higher speed because we, we did some carving on some different roads
up there at some pretty decent speeds, really got into the corners, especially on the tail end
of the trip, which isn't on the documentary yet.
It might make part three if I ever have time to ever make a doc film again.
I'm just kidding. We're hoping I can do that.
Finally got some good weather and some twisty roads.
Yeah. We got some good, good twisty roads and good weather,
and I was really able to put them to the test.
And here's where I was. I was impressed, obviously in the rain,
but I was also thoroughly impressed at high speed cornering.
And it's hard for me to put into words, but I did it in my video and I'm going to try to do it here.
What I can say about them is, so the, the Dunlops, the OEM Dunlops, they corner well too
at high speed, but the cruise tax, because they're just, I think, a little bit of a stickier tire.
And for whatever reason, the way they're made, it takes in my experience just a little bit more
input to, as you're going into a corner and you're going to apex it or whatever,
as you set into that corner, it, now I'm not saying that like it's crazy.
You have to put so much input. I just note that there's just a little bit more input,
but with that is the benefit of those tires set in and once you set it in and you put the input
you want, they hold that line like super, super steady and nice. Whereas the Dunlops, I feel like
they don't hold as well. So you have to be a little bit more on edge on making sure you're
making a slight adjustment here and there more so than with the cruise tech. I find those to hold
the corner line really, really good until you put. So it takes a little more input to get them
there, but then they stay there really, really nice. And again, that's just, that's just my
experience. That's however the tires designs a little bit different, but I actually like that.
It feels more stable in a corner. Not that I can't corner just as fast with the Dunlops,
but it's a better feeling and it's a more controlled feeling in my opinion. So they
went in the rain to me. They went in the corners, high speed cornering. And then when I took them
out for low speed maneuvers, what I'll say there is because it's low speed maneuvers,
they're either going to hold or they're not, right? And they held, I can't go any faster with
those or the Dunlops, but they held perfectly. So what I want to say is they can be used definitely
for low speed maneuvers. What I did find, there were some tar snakes out there and this is the
one thing that I noted and tar snakes depend on the amount of heat. It was a fairly warm day and
I've ridden in that temperature before in the Dunlops. For some reason on the tar snakes,
I felt like the cruise techs didn't walk as much on me when I would hit a tar snake. And if you
don't know those are, those are the cracks and asphalt parking lots or roads where they fill
it with tar. Well, when you're in a full bar lock turn and really tight in a cone pattern and you
feel one of those, it's really a shitty feeling. You kind of have to mentally get over that. The
bike will hold once it gets over that. It'll be a quick slip and then you'll, but it's a shitty
feeling. And I have to say the cruise techs felt really, really good. I was really surprised.
Probably a combination of the compound and just also the way the tire is designed, you know,
the craze on it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. So all in all, super, super stoked with that.
So pricing, they're about the same as the OEM Dunlops. The price is very similar. And guys,
if you bought tires recently, you know that motorcycle tires have gone up in prices.
It's insane how much they've gone up, but you're looking in the $400 range for a rear and a 280 to
300 for a front for both of them, these cruise techs and then the OEM Dunlop tires. Yep. There
you go. Go to the dealership for these. You can get them straight from us. You can, you know,
so that's kind of nice. You don't have to go down to the dealership. And a lot of times this
dealership's out of stock of your size. We've had that a lot too. So they don't always have them.
But yeah, about the same price. You're going to get about the same wear on them as far as mileage goes.
But yeah, all in all, I was super impressed. Now a lot of the Indian bikes are coming with
these Mets or Cruise Techs as their OEM tire. They were on, which bike did I write? I think it
was the vintage. Yeah. Yes. And I think definitely on the touring bikes, because the pursuit had
a man, now this chieftain, we have have them as well. Indians got it going on with Metsler. And
that company is a great company. They've been around for a long time. So it's not like some
fly by net company. What I'll say about this tire is who's this for? Well, I would say it's for
majority of riders. If you like to ride aggressively, if you're somebody who rides in all weather
conditions, you know, such as Canada and the rain, low speed maneuvers, if you want an all-round
awesome direct replacement for the OEM Dunlop, this is the tire for you a little bit stickier,
a little bit grippier. You get the same amount of miles about the same pricing as Lurch said,
it's going to instill much confidence in you with this tire because it feels really good
in all types of riding and all types of conditions. All right.
Some people, let's go down here. So key factors according to Metsler. So dual compound rear
for dynamic handling and strong grip with excellent mileage, softer shoulder compounds
for confidence when cornering. So there you go. Without even reading the stuff I was telling you
in my words, that directly correlates to probably holding in that corner like I was talking about.
High silica tread for improved wet weather traction, extended tread grooves for better
water evacuation while leaned over designed to match or slightly exceed OEM tire mileage.
Excuse me. So yeah. So that was my 4,000 miles of real world testing from 40 degrees to 100 degrees.
Yeah. Four straight days of heavy rain and standing Roddy 30 water, 30 miles of gravel road,
Sam and Glacier near Hyder, Alaska. Long high Y miles, mountain twisting, slow, slow speed,
police style drills. All right, Lurch, do you want to, that was just for my memory without
really going over, but there is some other options out there. If you want a tire that's going to
last longer, but in order for a tire to last longer, it's got to be a different compound,
generally a harder compound. So it will wear slower, but it's not going to have the same
grip in the corners because it's not going to be as soft material. And it's also not going to handle
the wet weather as well. So you got to kind of think about the type of riding that you do. I'm
not, we're not saying that this is the only tire you should get. In our opinion, it's the best
performance tire out there. And that's what we choose to run. But we do sell other tires in the
store. We do have the Michelin Commander Threes. Those are really popular tire. I don't know if
you had, did you run any of those for a little while? I think you had some on years ago on a,
when you got a flathead to replace tires, that was the only option you had, wouldn't it?
Yeah. And it's a good tire, but it's harder. It doesn't hold as well in the corners and doesn't
handle as well in the wet rain. Yeah. So I had the Michelin Commander twos, but the threes are just,
it's the same. But it's one better. It's one better.
Ride longer and treat your ass with some respect already. Get hooked up with a premium
butt buffer seat cushion. This company of bikers developed a super thin hospital grade
seat cushion made of solid and elastic materials. And it's unlike those gel pads that will leak
a punctured. The butt buffer is designed not to slide around in your seat, fits all motorcycles,
installs in seconds, easily cleans and yep, helps to dampen vibrations with plenty of models to
choose from. They assure you'll have a comfortable ass when riding. Head over to the law biting
biker store and check out our lineup of butt buffer seat cushions. But I will tell you,
yes, you are going to get more miles out of those tires, but I won't run them. Me personally,
if you want them, we sell them. Yeah. The guys love them. If you're not an aggressive rider
and you like to putt and if it gets wet or maybe you live in a place that you're not riding in
the rain, you got a lot of straight roads on the course. Yeah. You just ride straight forever.
Sure. Then get, yeah, you don't make, it might make sense for you. Yeah. So what I'll tell you
about the Michelin commander too, because like Lurch said, it's a harder compound. Yeah. And
there are places like we say a lot of straight roads. You're just fair weather. You're not going to
be doing twisties in the rain for four days in Canada. Then certainly you'll get more miles out
of it. It'll last you longer, but I will tell you right now that tire will slide on you. And if,
if you get a little bit aggressive in the rain and I actually walked quite a bit with the Michelin
commander too, even take it off from like intersections and stuff, it will start spinning on
you. So be careful if you're that kind of rider with the Michelin commander, unless you're just a
really, like I say, laxative, even if you ride in rain and stuff, if you're very easy on the throttle
and you don't really care and just don't try to get overly zealous with that tire and wet weather
on dry roads, little corner. It's not going to feel as confident as something sticky like the
Metzeler cruise tech, but it'll corner. I mean, I cornered with it. Definitely doesn't feel as
stable, but not a bad tire and a lot of guys swear by it. And again, make the decision on what kind
of riding you're going to do. But again, we have them both available for you and there's nothing
wrong with the Michelin commander three. So yeah, yeah, just, just be aware of its limitations.
It will not wear as quick though, because it is harder. Yeah. And then we also carry the,
what used to be the American Leads, now the AE2 Dunlop AE2. Another good tire. It's probably
somewhere in between the two that we just talked about between the Metzeler and the Michelin.
Yep. And I have my site set to test the AE2 two at some point. We'll just throw it on my bike
and we'll see. We're busy. I'd like to get it on before the Northeast trip, but I don't know if
that's going to happen just so I can have a direct comparison to that tire. It will be coming. I
just don't know if we're going to get it this trip, but nonetheless, stay tuned because I will be
putting the AE2 through the test too. So yeah, very popular tire. I know that Oscar runs the,
he ran the American Eagles. So we'll see if he switches to the AE2s, but it's a good tire.
Yeah. And he rips all through Canada with the AE, American elite, right? Yeah. Absolutely.
He rode all through Canada in the conditions and all that kind of stuff too. It's, I've heard
nothing but good things about it. I don't know if it's as sticky as the Metzeler. It's probably
the stickiest. Yeah. I'd say it's in between the Michelin Commander III and the Cruztak. So it might
be more like the Dunlop OEM. Yeah, it's pretty close. It's an exact comparison as my guess,
which is a good tire too. There is nothing wrong with that tire. So we've got them all available
for you in all the different sizes. If for whatever reason, you don't see a size in the
law binding biker store, when you go to those tire listings, you can pick your variant and then it
lists each size you pick front or rear and you pick your different sizes and add them to your cart.
Recently, somebody tried to buy one and we didn't have the size in there for some reason. So
that we can easily add that. So just contact us and because that customer contacted us,
we just added it and then he could buy it. So I'm not sure yet. We may just,
sometimes we don't have all the stuff in there. So just hit us up and say,
hey, I know they make this Metzler Cruztak, but I don't see that size in your store. Well,
we will look in our distributor portal. Could have been as simple as when we were putting the,
making the listing in our store because there's a whole long list of tires, right? Maybe we just
overlooked it. Yeah. Yeah. If you don't see it, let us know. We'll take a look, see if we can get it.
Yeah. There you go. So yeah, that is my opinion on the Metzler Cruztak and trying to see if there's
anything else here, Lurch that we need to cover on that. You got anything on that?
I'm looking forward to getting the set on my bike. Yeah. How far out are you?
It'll probably be the end of the year. I'll probably run these ones through our
summer trip and then I'll be, I'll definitely probably be ready for a rear and so I'll just
switch them both to over to the Metzler Cruztaks. Sweet. Now I want you to become a Patreon member.
We want to get your benefits, but hey, the only reason or way you can support us or want to
support us is through a flat donation. We never balk at a flat donation. Want to thank the following
people and these guys donated after purchasing in the store. So thank you for that. Kevin Ardini
of Hanover, Massachusetts, JD Packard of North Richland Hills, Texas and Rod Burns of Greater
Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. Unbelievable. It means a lot to us. We are inundated with an email inbox
that is out of control. Oftentimes it's, it kind of stresses us, but it's because bikers trust us
to help them. And for that, we don't get stressed and we're, we're, we're pleased with that.
You're not going to get that service at Revzilla or JMP cycles or anything like that. They're just
huge conglomerate companies with customer service reps that have never used a lot of the stuff that
they sell. That's fine. There's a need for that. But here we try to keep it a little more personal.
And because of that, we help guys and because we helped them, not only did these folks
make a purchase in our store, they left a tip where, right? That's these and it comes in the
form of a tip donation and that is humbling. And when we see those, we like to give shout outs
and also remind us when we're answering all those emails of how much it means to people
to get actual bikers talking to them about stuff they actually know about and not just
products they sell. So yeah, we really appreciate that. If you want to leave a flat donation,
of course, you can tip in the store. We appreciate that like these folks. Also, if you just want
a flat donation outside of tipping in the store, lawbindingbiker.com, four slash donate, that's
forward slash donate or head to lawbindingbiker.com. There's a huge donate button right on the home page
there for you. So yeah, at the time of this recording, by the time it comes out, the sign
up for the lawbinding biker, patron, member only ride meet up an event in the northeast
will be closed. The sign up will be closed as of May 1st. So just shout out to everybody that got
signed up and Lurch has been in communications with you. Once that closes, we're going to be
sending out a follow up email with a little bit more details for all of you that signed up and
you should all got opted into the email list for that event when you signed up at the sign
up page, but we're going to close down here the sign up page because it'll be done and it'll say
can't sign up anymore. I don't even know we're going to start diving into that how many we got
signed up, but it's going to be a good event and we've got some folks over there in that area that
are going to help us out. We're going to start dialing in the actual location where we're going
to take you to, you know, and have the actual dinner event and social event and where we're
going to meet originally. Again, all that will be coming out in emails and remember the last email
you get is like a day before the actual meet up where you're going to actually meet up and then
we're going to take you on a ride and we've already explained the details to you guys and
when you signed up and then the email will say that too, but just a nice ride an hour or so
into the greater Buffalo, New York area, right? Lurch and we'll have a venue there. We'll lead
you to it and it's just going to be a great time. So thanks for everybody that got signed up.
Yeah. It's the end of April at the time of this recording. So this is coming up May, June,
and then July will be going. So it's coming up really, really quick and riding season is up
on us. So I cannot wait for my fricking arm to get better. I'm hoping to be back on a street bike
here. I'm guessing and physical therapy starts in a week and then I actually sat on my bike lurch
and just started up and revved it a few times. I just wanted to see how my arm would feel.
Reaching out for the bar. Yeah. So not quite there yet. I can do it, but I kind of had to
lift my other hand onto it with lifted up there, but I was in the position and that's when I realized
I was like turning the bars wouldn't be so good right now at low speed. So, but as soon as I
get a little bit of strength back, I'm guessing 23 weeks all start doing some easy rides
back and forth to the store, get Lou back on the bike, Lou, the studio dog. He'll love it.
Get his beard in the wind. Loves having his beard in the wind and yeah, start riding because the
weather is turning better around here and today's a beautiful day. I stepped out in between podcasts
and it's 70 something out there and it feels wonderful. And then I want my jealousy of you guys
riding every day back and forth to the store. Don't worry. I'll thank you as I'm riding home this
evening and I'm sure you will weather was still a little cool in the morning. It's not cold by any
means. A little cool. It feels nice in the morning and then get it on an evening to head home and
riding into the sunset. It's nice and warm. It's glorious. Yeah, buddy. Hope you guys are out there
getting some riding in. Thanks for tuning in.
About this episode
The Law Abiding Biker crew kicks off with store and lighting talk, including LED fitment and color legality, then pivots to their main segment: “the best performance motorcycle tires in our opinion” based on experience and testing. Their top pick centers on Metzeler Cruze Tech as an aggressive, all-weather OEM replacement—highlighting wet grip, steady cornering line hold, and real-world mileage across a wide temperature range. They also compare it to Michelin Commander and Dunlop AE2, weighing grip vs wear, plus share where to find sizes and how their store handles fitment.
In this episode we discuss motorcycle tires and tell you the best one, in our opinion. We have had the opportunity to test many. Lurch and I talk about the Harley-Davidson OEM Dunlop, Michelin Commander III, American Eagle (now referred to as AE2), and Metzeler CruiseTec (current OEM tire for Indian Motorcycle). Which one do we think is the best? Listen and find out.
The Metzeler CruiseTec motorcycle tire delivers a strong balance of grip, stability, and long-distance comfort for riders who want modern performance from a cruiser or touring tire. Designed for heavyweight V-twin motorcycles, the CruiseTec stands out with impressive wet-weather traction and confident cornering characteristics that many riders don't typically expect from a cruiser-focused tire. The dual-compound rear construction helps provide solid mileage while still maintaining excellent edge grip, making the tire feel planted during aggressive riding and smooth during highway touring. Riders often report noticeably improved handling response compared to older-generation cruiser tires, especially on bikes like Harley-Davidson touring models and Indian motorcycles.
Another major strength of the CruiseTec is ride quality and predictability. The tire warms up quickly, tracks well through sweeping turns, and remains stable at freeway speeds even when carrying luggage or a passenger. Road feedback is confidence inspiring without feeling harsh, and the tread pattern does an effective job evacuating water in rainy conditions. While some riders may find that ultra-high-mileage touring tires last slightly longer, the CruiseTec generally earns praise for prioritizing performance and rider confidence without sacrificing durability. For motorcycle enthusiasts who want a tire that combines sporty handling with touring comfort, the Metzeler CruiseTec is widely considered one of the top choices in the V-twin tire category.
