But stay tuned because she may be named by the end of this episode. We have Colleen from naming

baby. Come on to give me a naming consultation, which is literally my dream come true.

It was like, I could sit in on them all day. Like if she ever needs an assistant, a sounding board,

like if anyone wants me in my no experience to do a baby naming console, like I would love to.

I love baby names. I'm obsessed. It's really fun. And this is the only time in your life

you're going to do it. Like you really get one shot because even when you have like grand babies,

like you got to stay out of that conversation. You have to stay so far out of that. This is your

only time to do it. And it's really exciting. Naming animals like just does nothing for me.

Like we have so many animals. Like you think it would like scratch the itch a little bit.

It doesn't scratch my itch at all to want to name another baby. Well, because a baby you're

thinking about an adult, you're thinking of who they're going to be, have a very caring name.

I love the sipset as she calls them. Like how it sounds to my other kids names. I just,

yeah, I love all of it. I love it. Also, it was really fun. Literally my dream come true. And just

like, I just like loved sitting there and just like having someone just like listen to me

to talk about all my irrational thoughts about it. And she asked hard hitting questions. You know,

one of her first questions out of the gate was what about Kelly? And I think we've all been

wondering what about the name Kelly? I think you've been pried. No, I think a lot of people have

actually. Oh, okay. Well, stay tuned because I answer what about Kelly? Anyway, before that,

it's post 4th of July. And I'm just so pleased to report that I again, once again, love being a

kid mom and I am sorry to be annoying, thriving is for so many summers, it hadn't been my summer.

And this summer is in fact my summer. I know. No, I'm very happy for you. It's very much deserved.

You very much earned it. Yeah. And I am just so happy to see you happy.

I love it. Like it's just so fun to have my whole body to myself to like give it all to my

children and like a more in a different way than like a pregnancy breastfeeding way.

Mm hmm. And I'm just having so much fun. We had such a good time at the lake. The kids had so much

fun. And like I'm getting to where it's like, I don't want summer to end. Like what?

But I know I'm just thinking about you saying like you're giving your body to your kids in a way.

It's like, yeah, like you getting on a tube with Libby, your kids are probably like, mom's getting

on a tube normally because normally mom's been sitting in the boat breastfeeding a baby.

Like mom couldn't get on the tube. No, you love it. And like, I just really think, I know we

talked about this in the last episode, but like my brain is just wired like a child. Not like an

eye. So we had, we had some of our, of my cousin's kids come down and she has like older kids. So

I think her kids are like, I don't know, 10 through 11 through six. She's got four boys.

Like, so she has a lot of kids. And I was just like, I was coming up with the best games. So

I played the one game where like I stood on the other end of the deck dock. I'm sorry. The other

end of the dock. And they had to try to cannonball get me wet. Like they did it for hours.

Oh yeah, sure. Like so fun. Or did I get you? And I'm like, not a drop. Try harder. Like it was

so funny. They're like, oh no. Let's jump in together. Like their belly flopping. Like they

were having, that's just such a fun game. We played categories classic where you jump off the

high dive and mid jump. I say color and you have to say something. Classic. Yeah, done.

We had one of those like water mats that like go on the lake and we kept inching it

further and further into the water to see if they could clear the jump over it.

So fun. Like so. And these games, like cause you, you've always said you don't love playing like

with your kids. You don't like getting on the ground and fighting dinosaurs, but I'm not doing

pretend play. No, you like this kind of stuff. Like you're having fun. You want me to have a game

capture the flag? Done. Yeah. Yeah. Like let's go. In George and Heidi, we're just like keeping up

with them and it was so fun. Like really, I just had a really great weekend. It's fun to see your

kids with older kids because you see that they're maybe more ready for things or they'll catch on

to things that you maybe weren't, didn't think they were ready for. Yeah. If they can like follow

older kids doing it. Totally. So that's, that's a lot of fun. Well, while you were doing that,

I did not go to the Ozarks because I'm just too freaking pregnant. And I'll be honest with you

would have probably brought the vibe down. Well, okay. So this week and I've been meeting

a post this in the Facebook group because I have been experiencing what Google is in myself and

diagnosing as pelvic girdle pain, which if you've experienced pelvic girdle pain, which one in five

pregnant women do WTF is this. I am in constant pain. It hurts to walk. stand. It

hurts to lay down. Like when I'm laying in bed, rolling over and agonizing pain.

So can't believe I have to do this for several more weeks. Doesn't seem right. Doesn't seem fair.

I thought with my first one, I thought I was so good at being pregnant. I'm just like, I have no

pain. I have no nausea. Like I'm just built for this. Like I'm just better. I'm just so good at

being pregnant. Anyway, I've been immediately humbled and I'm struggling in a big way. But

I'm going to push through. You're going to push through and we're, I'm here to help in any way

I can. I mean, Cal, I was laying in bed the other night and I told Maddie, I'm like,

it will be easier to have a baby right now than to, for me to be experiencing this. Like that's

how bad it is. And that's crazy to think that I'm like, I just need to get a third child. I just

need a third child out of the womb to take care of because in the womb, it's not working for me.

I'm so sorry, Biebs.

It's fine. I am so thankful for you and for mom and for Maddie and for everyone helping me out.

So I'm really, really lucky.

Well, I did develop, or I didn't, I did become aware of like a new ick

that I just like want to bring up. And it's something that I have done in the past. And I just

want us to as like, as a, as a population, as a generation, if we need to stop doing this.

Okay. You know, when you like tell someone like, oh, have you heard this song before? Or like,

you don't know this song? Or like, you know this, you're showing someone a song that they don't know.

And then you like sing it to them like, like, you're like, let's go. Like then, and it's like,

shut up. Like, let me listen to it. Like, sorry, I haven't heard this song. First of all, you singing

it poorly is not helping me. And like, why, I can't sing along with you. So just shut up.

You know what? I don't even like, you haven't heard that song. No, I don't pull out your phone and

put Spotify on. Send it to me in a text if you're that passionate about it. Because, because then

we have to sit there for three minutes and I have to pretend like I, like, I will maybe grow to like

that song. But I need to listen to a song a couple of times. The first time I hear a song, I don't

like it. But don't let me sit now in silence with, well, in silence with you outside of the song

playing and like, have me have to react. And then I'm saying, and then they're like singing it,

like louder, like pointing at you. Like, you're like, what am I supposed to do with, I don't know

this song. Like, yeah, hate, hate, hate. Okay, I agree. That just obviously came up at the

like, party in this weekend, you know, in, in party and we, like Charlotte posted a recap reel,

our brother's fiance. And I'm like, Oh my gosh, we like drink so much. That was my one takeaway

from the video. I'm like, it's a really cute, well done video. It looked like so much fun.

Oh my gosh, all they did was drink. I did not drink that much. But

well, it's also just a snippet of it all, you know, it was just a snippet, but it was fun.

You're showing. Yeah, it looked like fun. I was playing categories. And I mean, I got my hair

wet every single day. Like I was in the lake. I'm a fun, I'm a fun mom. You are fun. I just don't

like sitting with a baby. Like I would just so much rather not do that. I would rather be playing

with the kids, but not the toddlers. There's a difference for me. I don't want to play with

the toddlers. I want to play with the kids. Yeah. Another like big development, because I've

already been working on my summer notes. And at the end of summer, I'm going to give a summer

note recap, but like really like to me, the MVP of the weekend was life is good in their

patriotic t-shirts. I'm so happy for the recommendation and to have found life is good

t-shirts, because the one thing about life is good is it's all they do. They're, they're a t-shirt

company. And I love investing in decent play clothes. Like I like a hundred percent cotton

shirt and I like a well-made t-shirt. Like a t-shirt I can pass down. I like t-shirts I can wash a

hundred times. And I love Hannah Anderson, Bowden, T. Those kids shirts are upwards of, sometimes

they're $29 a pop for a kid's t-shirt, because I'm sorry, be so for real. Be

And so sometimes I'll buy them on clearance or sometimes I'll find them thrifting or like

sometimes I will buy one. But like t-collection, who I love t. I mean, I love t-collection and I do,

I do, I buy a ton of resale from them. I do buy some new things. I wanted to buy an American

Girl doll shirt for Hattie because they had an American Girl doll edition. It's a $39 t-shirt.

Get out of here. I'm not playing that for a child t-shirt and I'm not a good laundress,

so it's going to get stained. If I was a better laundress, maybe I'd feel differently. I'm not.

Yeah. Life is good shirts, great quality, great prints, 100% cotton washes great $16 and sometimes

they have sales. And that is enough. It's a specialty shirt, like 16 bucks times four. It's

still not amazing. It's not $8. It's not cat and jack, but they are so amazing. I literally cannot

wait to see what they can do for fall and Christmas. Yeah. No, they're going to be good

ones to buy when you just like buy the sibling, the sibling set and it's like a special occasion

t-shirt. No, right. But I'm telling you, I mean, they had one deal where it was like,

you bought 45 shirts, you got one for free. So you paid for four shirts. I'm like,

okay, that was good. So then it made all the shirts a little cheaper and they're so...

Well, and you're getting to the age two where it's like, you can't buy cat and jack shirts that

are all going to match because George and they don't make them. They're not going to have the same

prints. They're not going to go together. I don't really need them to match all that much as much

as I'm just looking for like a fun go together. Go together. I'm just looking for like a fun

festive shirt. And I was just really excited about what, about what cat and jack could do for me.

About what life is good could do for you. Sorry. What did I say? Cat and jack?

Yeah. Yeah. No, I'm excited to see what, how life is good will continue to serve me.

No, it's exciting. Another big note I have for like, if you are a younger family and you're a

Lake family, my recommendation to... So like Tyler bought us all life jackets. He was very

body, what is it called? Body glove. Shout out. Best life jackets. And Tyler's like,

I'm just buying all of our family matching life jackets. Cause when we go to the lake,

there's no question like which one is which. It's like all the stumpy ones are these blue

and orange life jackets. And I was like, it's a good idea. Like just buy the life jackets.

And so we bought like literally two sizes in some of the sizes because like whatever,

we did the math. We own like seven of these life jackets now. And our biggest regret,

I looked at them today and I'm like, you should have got them red, white and blue.

Okay. Yeah. Because when you're at the lake, because first of all, summer is patriotic. Like

I'm wearing red, white and blue always looks good in the summer, whether it's the fourth of July

or not. And I was a little mad that all my kids had these like red, white and blue shirts and

shorts and swimsuits. And then they have to put on an orange life jacket. Oh, it was a really good

note. I kind of want to adopt. I'm gonna do that. I'm going to try and find a red, white and blue

and I'm going to buy my family all matching life jackets. Yeah. Because we need to do that.

That's a good note. I appreciate that. And also I wrote on my note to think about like,

when I'm buying summer clothes for the kids, remember they're going to be wearing a lot of

red, white and blue. So like only having black shorts isn't very helpful. Like I'd love a navy.

I'd love a red. Sure. Like I wish George would have had red shorts. Yeah. You know what? I think

like a color scheme for your child is a good idea. But I like that you can make that a seasonal

color scheme. So it's like in the fall, he doesn't only have to wear like you can introduce greens

and such in the fall if you want to. But like, yeah, maybe when you're doing because at this age,

you have to like buy them wardrobes every freaking season. Yeah, maybe like stick to a color scheme.

Well, and I'm thinking about their summer crocs, because as you guys know, one of my notes last

year was like, I just believe in buying name grand crocs because I just think they hold up well.

My kids wear crocs all summer. Like that's all we wear. Next summer, I will buy the girls white

and I will buy the boys navy. So again, Libby isn't wearing her red, white and blue and these

sparkly pink crocs. Yeah. And guess what? I'm telling you our new summer color scheme is red,

white and blue. I love red, white. I think red, white and blue with a hint of red and I can take

the white and blue into the other seasons because we wear a lot of white and blue in this house.

And then we'll introduce the red. But yeah, I'm not doing, I'm not buying orange shorts anymore.

I'm just not doing this game. I'm not playing this game. I approve of all of this. Yeah,

so that was that's one of my biggest summer takeaway notes. Because even if we're not,

then everyone matches, everyone goes together and like it's so effortless.

Mm hmm. Yeah. Yeah. So big note for me. Okay. I like it.

Don't you like that? Like I really thought that through.

No, I love it. I'm gonna, I'm going to adopt it. I'm going to, I'm going to take it. It was helpful

for me. Okay. So thank you. Thank Let's see. What else? Something on my,

what I'm thinking, we're just like thinking two totally different things is I'm thinking about

my hospital bag and I have started packing it and I've started watching content around hospital

bags and my new egg is and there's a time that I like this and there's a time that as influencers

we've done things like this, but like I'm so sick of watching reels where someone will pack

something and it's like everything they just bought off Amazon. And I know you've never used

any of this stuff and you're telling me to comment link for all of the stuff that you just bought

you don't even know if it's good or not. And I see it a lot in packing videos like let's pack my,

let's pack my hospital bag, let's pack my car. And I'm like, you don't,

this is all brand new stuff. I don't know if you actually use this stuff. Like, you know what I mean?

I just like the moment I see like a clear plastic container that's going to be stuffed with more

plastic things. I'm, I'm like, I'm logging off like I'm done. But something that I've noticed

about the hospital, I started packing my hospital bag and I almost felt like I was doing it wrong

because I don't have anything new in my bag. It's like, these are the pajamas I wore. I've had for

three years. These are the, my toilet, my toiletry bag is, you know, has toiletries

remnants all over it. Like it's not pretty. It's not new. Like I'm not going to post a pack my

hospital bag with me because it's all like ugly and not aesthetically pleasing. But because

I've watched so many reels of other people packing their beautiful hospital bags, I feel like I'm

literally doing it wrong. Liz, I think, you know, to be a successful content creator, it's also

knowing where your strengths lie and there are going to be more aesthetically pleasing, more

organized, better hospital packing videos than you. So don't even throw your hat in the ring.

No, I'm not. And so that's not what I'm saying. I'm not going to throw my hat in the ring.

But what I'm saying is that because I've watched so many and because the internet just had so many

beautiful ones and I, I, I have a false sense of reality. Yeah. And I think that's a problem.

So I'm just like drawing, I'm trying to, what's the solution? Well, no, I'm just saying that

it's normal to not, to just have like your old crusty stuff bringing to the hospital.

The only, anything new that's coming with me to the hospital is going to be for the baby because

I do like to buy my babies their own individual swaddle because I associate a pattern with my

child as a newborn. But like, no, I'm not buying like a new robe and new pajamas and new everything.

And I'm not going to, I don't take photos in the hospital. Like you're just not going to see it.

And I'm just so on like that side of Instagram. And I just like, okay, I don't know. I just like,

I just want everyone to, I just want people to know if anyone else is feeling like me and like

their stuff doesn't feel good enough because what you see on the internet, it's just

they're, it's just, it's not true. It's not real. I think that's, I think that's a real,

I think it's always good to just remind people of that. I was just reflecting and I wanted to

share my reflections. And that's what this, and that's why you have a platform in the podcast.

Exactly. Exactly. Who else would you say to? Yeah, I mean, I'm just like wondering have you

gotten any hate for like your child not having a room and like having a dresser in a hallway?

And I also know for a fact you own a Louis Vuitton purse too.

No, I haven't, I haven't faced any hate for it yet, but I stay off that side of the internet.

Right. I don't look at the hate stuff anymore.

And that's on growth. No, I haven't, haven't had that yet.

Well, should we get to that? You're just so much more polarizing than me though.

I'm so polarizing. Yeah.

Yeah, we can get to, to our interview. I loved it.

I want to do, okay, we don't have to do it on this episode, but like also I just

really enjoyed a lot of good like snackies and dips this weekend too. Okay.

And like I just like love a snackie and a dip.

Okay. Well, like what are you thinking of specifically? So let me just, let me just get

them out of the way really fast because we're only doing one episode a week and people might

want to throw this for their next shindig. So there's two dips that will be gone if you make

them and they're both three ingredients, four, one's four ingredients and I'm not counting the

chips, but total chips included five ingredients. Okay. Okay. The first one is mama J's taco dip

classic. So this is our childhood, our mom's best friend, we call our mama J and her dip is sour

cream, taco seasoning, spread thinly on like, you know, a pie dish. These are, you can make

these both in a pie dish. Sour cream, taco seasoning, mix it up, spread on a pie dish,

top with shredded cheese, add diced cherry tomatoes, serve with tostinos or serve with like a

tortilla chip. Unbelievable. Will be gone. Can't, Elizabeth will not be gone.

Insane, delicious. I think sometimes she's added like olives in the past. Like you can

unnecessary, but like, I'm sorry, get out of here with like your seven layer dip with the

refried beans. I'm sorry, get out of here. I don't want that. It's, it's unnecessary. I know I'm

browned guacamole. I don't want any of that. This is like a good go to boat. Like you put it in the

fridge. You can make it the day before you put in the fridge, you pull it out. It's easy. Yeah. And

you will eat it. You can make it on the boat. You can make, you can mix the, the top of the

seasoning in the, in the sour cream container and then bring it on. Just serve that if you have to.

I mean, it's better in a pie dish with cheese, but if you don't have that headspace, you don't have

the headspace. Yeah. The next one does require to be baked, but it's so worth it. It's a same pie

dish, well different pie dish, which maybe you're bringing to cream cheese on the bottom.

Okay. Then you get canned chili. Okay. Oh, you've had, this is Susie's dip. I don't think I've had

this. Cream cheese on the bottom, canned chili. I prefer like a no bean canned chili. Okay. I know.

It's like, like, it's, it's like, Oh, I would never eat canned chili. You're fine. It's great in a

dip. Top it with cheddar cheese, pop it in the oven till the cheese is melty and everything gets like,

Oh, okay. Now I have a picture in it. I didn't know it was canned chili. I never thought about

how you make it. It's canned chili. Okay. Serve with Fritos. Unbelievable. So then you get melted

cheese, chili, cream cheese, which I get like, I would never probably, I draw the line at eating

a bowl of canned chili. I'll eat a bowl, bowl of canned soup. I could never eat canned

chili, but I can enjoy it in a soup or in a dip. I'm sorry. I would never, I don't, I would never

not eat canned chili. Okay. Well, I'll let you look at the can when you're pulling it out and then

decide. Okay. Sure. Sure. I didn't know that's how you made that dip. That's a really good dip. I

like that one heated up. I like the melted cheese. It's so good. I didn't know I had a cream cheese

base. I'm learning a lot right now. And it is that I made both of them both gone, like scraping

the pan people were. Okay. Fabulous. So they're two very easy dips. Fabulous. I love that. Yeah.

And those are like, you could both just like always have those on hand.

And then when like people come over or like, if you feel like your dinner that you made is

like a little light, you pull out a dip to, to just kind of, you know, fill in the gaps.

Okay. I love it. Okay. Well, that's all I got. I mean, that's a lot.

No, it's a lot. You're going out of town tomorrow. Oh my gosh, and I'm going to Florida

tomorrow. You're going to Florida tomorrow to record a podcast. And you know what I'm doing

tomorrow? What is I'm packing up all my podcast record equipment. I'm taking it to BMW of West

St. Louis and I am interviewing dad. Wow. I don't know when that episode is going to come out. I

think it might just be like a hold for when we aren't able to get a podcast out and we'll post

it. But this will be big Craig's big debut on the podcast and I'm really excited about it.

I'm excited too. And as although I'm sad to miss it, I do think he will be better with just a one

on one. Yeah, I agree. And I think you're the better person to do it because I think me and him

would talk over each other. I just, I think it's going to be really good. And I have to approach

it differently than we approach mom with a podcast because dad's not like going to be like a girly

girl and like talk on the podcast. Like we could just like have mom here. So it definitely, his

hand needs to be held a little bit more and it has to be a little bit more organized and formal

Second time. Second time. We probably did it like a year ago. It was right after you guys had had

your bebes. Libby as well. So I walk around with my head just a little higher than the rest of you

because me and Colleen both have a son with the same name. So like if a baby namey consultant

chose my baby's name, like it's kind of, I'm kind of that girl. Which one, George? George's.

Actually what's funny is if I ever had another child, which is very unlikely,

Frederick would be high on my list and I'm like, I'd probably have to have a little like heart

heart with Kelly to make sure that's cool with her. It is out of all my children's names,

his name gets the most compliments for sure. Really? I feel like when you first have a baby,

they're like, everyone's like, oh, I love the name. But when someone looks at like

connerals and compliments their name, like they hear me on the playground and they're like,

it's his name, Fred. Be like, that's the cutest I've ever heard. Thank you. He wears it well.

He does wear it well. It's so cute. And you just don't hear it much.

Well, and you know what else I like about like old fashioned names? Because you have

Rory, Jane and George. And Liz, you have James and Sloan. We kind of all have like,

we're all in the same, all the same elk kind of names. We're on like a, we're on a Venn diagram

and we each have our own little part. Totally. But what I like about like those older,

more classic names is do you know like the old people's days I just make when they're like,

oh my God. Her name's Harriet. That was my mother's name. And it's like this old woman or

she or like, I mean, it's like, I am single handedly putting smiles on old people's faces

every single day when I go out with my children because of their names. It's so true. Like the

most compliments I get are from people like 65 and up. Totally. Totally. And I, I've almost,

I think I've met one other little Jane, but other than that, the Jains I meet are like

80 and up or like, I've met a dog named Jane, which is a whole nother field of names.

Which is such a comment. Like, it's not a weird name. Like it's a regular old name.

It's like, it's a beautiful name, but it's not like, that's what I love. Those are the

types of names that I love that sound like names and our names, but aren't like only done.

So I feel like both me and Liz have like some like more classic names. And then like,

we, we dipped our toes in the modern waters. I have Rory, you have Sloane.

Totally. No, it's very funny. We, um, I talked about my baby names and someone was like,

I think it's interesting that Liz said she likes traditional names. So like Sloane

isn't very traditional. And my husband commented on it and he's like, it's an ancient Irish name.

Like it is just not like an American name. He's fighting the good fight. He is, he is.

I would have been like, yeah, it's so new. I agree with that person. I did not know

how old of a name it was. Well, I remember when you guys were talking about it,

like when you were pregnant and you were giving clues and you were like, Kelly

didn't know how to spell it or something like that.

Still don't for a lot of names.

And so, uh, this time around, will we be incorporating the name Kelly, you know,

what's, what's fair is fair. Kelly is Kelly is a family name for Kelly is my sister's name,

but Kelly's also our mom's maiden name, which is where her name comes from. So Kelly is not

off the list for our contenders for a baby's middle name throughout any of right now. I think

we're more considering, uh, like Christine or Elizabeth. Christine's our mom's name. Elizabeth

is my name. Also our grandmother's name. There's like a lot of traditional middle as a middle

potentially. Um, but I wouldn't say no to Kelly. I wouldn't, I don't hate it.

Kelly, thanks for asking that question. Yeah. Because it has been, I've been circling the

drain on it cause I, it's just like wondering like if it's even, yeah. Um, but we also like,

we also like sun, like I, I think more for probably a boy, but I do like the thought of

using sun trap as a middle name. Yeah, love that. Um, but that's probably more what I would

want to do for a boy. So not so much as consult. So we're having, anyway, we're having Colleen on

the podcast again, because like I need what she calls name you like naming baby 911. Like

we don't have the name. The clock is ticking. Clock is ticking. So Maddie and I cannot, like

he has names that if, if I weren't in the picture, like the baby would be named. If Maddie was in the

picture, the baby would be named. So we're trying to like bridge that gap. So I'm very curious to

just like do a naming consultation. This is, this is the instance that I think you're here for.

Like husband and wife can't figure it out. Like let's, let's bring in the expert. It's really

named therapy at this point. Okay. Dr. Colleen, let's hear it. I mean, at the end of the day,

Liz is having the baby. I do have a little bias towards like the mom gets the final say.

And if you think about it, like the dad picked the last name. So it's also like calm down.

Well, usually people will be like, well, I get the middle name because he got the last name.

But I feel like names fall into this bucket of like style and aesthetic that generally we do

take the lead on. Like when you think about like your house decor and things like that.

My husband has no style or aesthetic. So I hear. So he can help.

But I will, I will say whatever if I was like,

absolutely. I kind of did that with Sloan. I was like, Sloan is the name I've always had for a

girl. Like that's gonna be the name. My husband, my husband is, will always, you know, give me

essentially whatever I want. But I do think it's important to consider his wishes. And you want

them to be excited about it. I want him to love it. Like I want him to, because he loves our kids

names. Like I want him to feel that same like joy and pride that I feel. So and it does get harder

the more kids you have, like for sure, your best stuff. And like, I think sometimes the love has

to grow a little bit. But let's get started. Okay, let's do it. So generally, I would have

sent you a 15 question questionnaire to fill out about your name preferences before we started.

But we're just going to gather a little information here because we probably don't have time for that.

So the biggest things are what are your kids names? We already know that we've got James and Sloan.

What are your top contenders? And then in that list, I want to hear like, what names you love

that have gotten vetoed? And what names Matt, Maddie loves that have gotten vetoed?

Okay, so like names that I, if I could name the baby, it would be the name would be Gwen.

Oh my God, I had it on my list for you. I love Gwen. So cute. Something, a name that Maddie

really likes that is similar to Gwen is Quinn. But it's not the same to me. And so I couldn't,

really go with that. We like, we've talked about Margo. We've talked about Maeve.

Cecilia. Okay. I feel like we kind of, oh, Maddie, one name that Maddie liked was Orillia,

which is just too much. That's too much of a mouth for me. Yeah, I get that.

He really loves like names like rooted in history. So we're not big on, you know, like surnames.

I love, I said like, I like the name like Cameron, like I like Ryan, like I kind of like,

You do like the cool girl names. The cool girl masculine names, but Maddie has a harder time

giving a girl like a traditionally male name. So okay, okay. Interesting because Sloan is like

in that bucket. It's just currently more of a girl's name. Whereas because it has like a history

because Maddie's family is from is Irish. So again, like ties to like those Celtic things. So it's

like, he we've kind of realized as we've talked about it, we like French names, French sounding

names, and we like Irish sounding names. Okay. I love like we love the name. What's that name?

That's like so impossible to spell. That's Irish like Sirsha. Sirsha. We both think that's beautiful.

I know. I can't believe you're really new. Hold on. I can't believe you literally knew what

name she was talking about. Liz goes, what's that name that's impossible to spell? Sirsha.

I think it's, I think it's beautiful. It's so cool. I know. But I can't do the spelling.

S-A-O-I-R-S-E. Yeah. Sirsha. Sirsha. Can we pause for just a second? Can I ask

like just a question? I do find it interesting. Like names that you like the sound of but hate

the spelling of. Yup. A name that I really liked but could never get past was Imaging.

Mm. I feel that. Because it's spelled I-M-O. Like what? G-E-N-E. But I think Imaging sounds

really pretty. No, you're so right. Like they just find that so interesting. It looks a little clunky.

No, I hate how it looks. The letter combos. But it's such a cool name. I do love it.

Well, Grayson, our sister Grayson was going to be Phoebe. That was my mom's favorite name. So my

dad didn't like, he did not. He's kind of like Kelly. He's not a great speller. He like could

not conceptualize the spelling of Phoebe because he's like no. We can't do that.

I do mix that up a lot. It's a tricky one. It's a great name though.

Okay. I just wanted to like, I just thought that was interesting. Since Liz had a name,

she likes the sound of doesn't like the spelling of. I think that's very.

Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I agree. I could, I understand that you can't. And it's not even that I mind

the spelling. I don't like how it looks. Yeah. I think we're in different, like you're talking

about the visual aesthetic. Liz is talking more about like logistical complications.

Like this girl would be spelling her name for people her entire life, which is a choice that

you can make. People ask this all the time. Like in some names, I think are worth that inconvenience.

I agree. Yes. But I think it's, it's next level. You know, there are certain names you're always

going to have to spell. Maybe Margo could even be an example. Is there a T at the end or is

there not a T at the end? Is it the X or whatever? And then there are some names that you're going

to have to say and spell repeatedly. And there's some names. So there's some names where like,

you'll have to give the Starbucks, Barissa a different name. Like people have my name all the

time. Okay. But it's like, okay. But if I say Kelly, the, the Barissa is going to guess. Yeah.

If you say, I don't even know how to pronounce it. Share she, she's giving up. She's going to say,

she's going to start saying Sarah at Starbucks. You actually can't use this name because her aunt

wouldn't be able to say it. It's, it's a serious consideration. That's why I'm here. And that's

why I know. Okay. I'm done. I'm shutting up. Keep going. Okay. This is like totally different

than what I was expecting from both of you, but especially Matt. Like I think I sort of saw him

as like a Blake Reese Quinn Piper kind of guy. But no, he wants substance. Oh, like he likes,

he likes Catherine. Like he likes, he likes Madeline. Like he likes just very like normal

sort of traditional names. Unless like, or really as like a Roman less something in the Roman Empire,

there's an or really, or really us or something. Unless there's like something cool in that realm.

Where does daddy fall on Kelly?

Um, yeah, he likes, he's with me. He likes it. It's very Irish. Yeah, he likes Kelly. Okay.

I was curious if it was like, were you, you were the problem or if he was the problem on that name?

No, I would say genuinely that's probably more me the problem.

Okay. So I did a little stalking of your family as I was waiting here to find out like some family

names. I was looking up the Sun Trap, Sun Trap Automotive Business and the founders. So who's

Bill? Is he a relative? Yes, he is our, our grandpa's brother. Okay. Do we like him? We love him.

Yeah, he's actually still alive. Is he? He's like, okay, I just love looking down the family tree

for inspiration. Like I know this is a, this will probably be too much for Maddie. I do think

Billy for a girl is so cute, but you could also do Willa, like Willa for William, Willa St. John,

Sloane James and Willa. It's cute. I'm gonna write this down. I like Billy. I know. I love Billy.

I think the issue with Billy for a traditional name-er is they're going to want a full name for

it. Sure. And that, yeah, that's like Wilhelmina and that might be too big for too, too bold.

Wilhelmina. I like Wilhelmina. It's cute. Wilhelmina called her Billy.

I would call her, I like Willa better than Billy. Yeah. Okay. It's more girly. Yeah. Okay. And then

you mentioned Catherine. Love Catherine. And your mom is Christine, but goes by Chris. And a nickname

for those names would be Kit, which you've probably seen on lists. It's like sort of an up and comer.

What are the feelings on Kit? Love. I really like Kit. Kit St. John. Like you just have the best

last day. It was so automatically. I know. Any name sounds good with it. That's the problem.

Which is the best last name. I'm like, oh, Imogen St. John. Obsessed. Obsessed. Kit is really cute.

I, for a long time in our naming journey, I was kind of anti-name them something,

call them a nickname because St. John, while it is a great last name, it is a pain.

It's complicated. Yeah. Because you go to the hotel and they're like, we don't see you. And it's

like, well, did you put a period? Did you put a space? Did you combine it? Did you spell up

SAINT? Like there's a lot of, you have to like go jump through hoops to just like get the St.

John name. So it was like, yeah, I feel like I would feel bad if they also like, well, is the name

under Catherine? Is it under Kit? I don't know. But I think that's something that I'm more coming

to terms with that like whatever, that's just their cross to bear. And also at the end of the day,

this is a girl who like most likely St. John won't be her last name for her, her entire life.

So maybe it will get easier for her. Yeah. But I love Kit. I like the shortness.

sharpness. I like James Sloan and Kit is so cute. Because right now James and Sloan are both one

syllable names. That's the other thing is like you have an opportunity here to start a theme.

And I know you've talked about wanting potentially four kids. And so I mean, I don't think if you

have 31 syllable names, you like have to go one syllable on the fourth. You could go two

syllables, it'd be okay. But it'd be insane to do like James Sloan, Kit, Wilhelmina. That would be

crazy. That would be crazy. I like Kit. And then you also have like probably accidentally done

alliteration with both their names like James, St. John, Sloan, St. John. Well, I didn't think

about that. It's so good. But if you did another S name or another J name, then would you want to

complete the pattern with the fourth? I come from a CJ CJ family. So we have our boy name done.

So if I have a boy, it's not one syllable and it doesn't follow that. So but we adore it. We love

it. Like that one's done. If we had another girl, I would have to obviously come back to this. But

I'm actually not like it doesn't bother me. But I do love Sloan, St. John. I do love an S

to follow St. John. I think it's just really pretty. Okay. And then what are your feelings on

popularity? Like James, I think sometimes people have different parameters for boys and girls.

Like people want, tend to want more classic boy names. And so you went top 10 for a boy. And then

you went a little like mainstream but less common for a girl. I've also really had a full circle

moment on coming terms with this because I thought I think everyone wants to be more unique than

we probably are. I think that when you like it doesn't bother me that James is like the top five

like top 10 name. But because it's a very normal name, it's a family name. I feel like where I would

get like, I use my sister-in-law as an example a lot because she named her son Brooks when no

one was named Brooks. Okay. Now there's four Brookses on his soccer team. Okay. So it's like

when you when you are doing a less common name, but then everyone ends up having that same name,

like it doesn't bother me when it's when there's multiple James is because James is a regular old

name. But when you think you're doing something, you're doing something different and then you

did it. That kind of kills her a little bit. So I think like Catherine, if Catherine was in

or it was in the top 10 names or whatever, I would feel less weird about that versus,

you know, I don't. Scotty. Scotty. Yeah. And then it's like everyone's name Scotty. It's like,

oh, she thought she was doing something different. And that's like there's really,

there's nothing wrong with it. That's just like my internal dialogue, but I am kind of getting over

it. Like the popular anything. And I, I don't, I've maybe learned from you or from like another

naming Instagram, but like, you also have to like look in your state because just because it's a top

10 name in the country. Yeah. Like I looked at the top 10 names in Missouri and they're all over

the place. So different. So different. And that's where they're going to run into kids

with the same, with the same name as them when, when it matters, which is a great school, I feel

like. Yeah. Even the state doesn't like tell the whole story of like your specific neighborhood.

Like if you sent your kids to a Catholic school, you're going to get one cohort of names. And like

in Rory's kindergarten, there was like one repeated name through the grade and it was

Cole. There were three Coles. It's like Cole. Like that's not even a common name. Like it's,

it is a crapshoot. So it's like silly to get too caught up in it. What I usually tell people is

like, does the name feel like special enough to you? Then you should use it. Like, I like,

I agree. I like that better than, yeah, than like the number in their class. Like they'll like,

it's fine. Yeah. It's fine. You know what I mean? If you're hearing it a lot, then maybe it becomes

tainted for you, but in your world, you're not hearing Charlotte, then like it might still feel

like a really special name to you. Yeah, that's so true. That is so true. I love that. Today's episode

Like it's, it's more of a surname style.

I just think it's like the coolest name in the world, Marlowe.

It's, it's pretty.

It is unisex, but it sounds feminine because it's got like the softer letters.

I think Lowy is like the cutest little nickname.

I love nicknames.

But I think Margot, for alternatives, you want sort of like a lot of French names

feel like good alternatives.

Like Sylvie.

I love Sylvie.

I like Daphne, I think is a good alternative.

I love Daphne.

Maddie, Maddie veto Daphne, but I love Daphne.

Yeah.

I think a lot of people who like Margot, like Eloise, Vivian, Clara, these sort of like

classic with like a little twist.

What about just Claire or Clara?

So Claire was also, was on our list early.

And I just, we just kind of stopped talking about it.

But I do like Claire.

Just bringing up like a lot of the names that like we, we had talked about Kate,

we had talked about June, we had talked about Claire, and then they just,

we just kind of stopped talking about them.

I don't know why.

For no, for no reason.

So I do feel like maybe I need to, we need to like revisit some of these again,

now that we've kind of gone through a lot.

Some of the really classic names, it's like either you love it or you don't,

because it's a name you've heard a lot and you either have a connection to it, like,

or it just doesn't do it for you.

You've known so many and it's just like, you don't get excited about it.

Do you think it's possible to get Matt on board with any more like unisex names, like

the Logan's and the Andes of the world?

No.

No, I don't.

I don't.

Yeah, that's okay.

Especially if I felt super like passionate about one, yes.

But I just like, if I was like, Cameron's kind of cute.

And if he was like, yeah, kind of like Cameron, I then we could like talk about it and then

we could both fall in love with it.

But it's not like I don't have that intense love for the name.

Like I have had for Sloan.

So I'm not passionate enough to like push it, you know?

What about a compromise where it's like a classic name with a more like kind of cool

nickname or vice versa?

So like Eleanor Coller Lennie, something like that.

Yeah, I think he would.

I think he would be on board for something like that.

He's on board for, yeah, he would consider a nickname name.
