Automated perfection comes in the form of two letters, A and U.
Long live my LTD.
Welcome to Car Talk.
It's Tuesday night here on 98.9 Northwest FM.
It's me, Matty J, in the studio with Mr. Chad DeBell,
online with Mr. David Prince and special guest in studio,
Mr. Andrew Rigglesworth.
How are you, my friend?
It's lovely to be here.
Thank you so much for letting me actually get into the building.
It's wonderful.
You know, he jumped, he jumped the moat.
He defeated the guards.
Chains clattering as the drawbridge.
It's great to be here.
And we're just talking off air that many years ago,
my wife and I would be frequently visiting Northwest FM.
So I'm getting all the feels.
Getting all the feels.
Yeah, we did some fun raises back in the day.
And yeah, it was a wonderful time.
It's like an old friend.
I've got to ask you.
Very different.
Nothing.
We're talking over a decade ago.
Probably 11 years ago.
I even the funny thing is I actually went to go to the bathroom.
I knew exactly where the switches were and everything.
Yeah.
It's probably the same canister of international roast in the kitchen.
Yes, still there.
It is like a friendly old place.
It feels like, you know, and every time I come to do this,
do the show here at the studio.
It feels like, it feels like second home.
Yeah.
And everyone that knows this place.
Yeah.
It's the old, you know, the old little shed.
That's that's a radio station, but it is.
And it's been serving the community here for a very long time.
So and the fact that you've been here many times like,
when you told me, you're like, I'll be now.
But what?
So kind of kind of blew my mind.
Not going to lie.
Yeah.
Pretty, pretty wild.
Good to have you here, mate.
Yeah.
Thank you so much.
I appreciate it.
Good to have you here.
You know, we've got lots to talk about tonight,
especially with Magma 40th coming up.
Yep.
Huge events.
It is.
I mean, we've been talking up on this show for a very long time,
but tonight's the night where we get to really,
really give it, give it the push.
At the guts that are happening.
Absolutely.
So yeah, we will get to that.
We also joined by Scotty Doe.
How are you, Scotty?
I'm good.
How is everybody?
Hey, Scotty.
Very well, mate.
It's good to see you.
Hey, buddy.
Love it to see you as well.
It's been been too long.
I know your voice.
Like I've said to you before,
like every week I'm in the car and it's like days of our lives,
car talk style.
Oh yeah, it is.
I followed you through those R31 days.
And I loved every minute of it.
So I actually love it to be in the studio
and be with everyone here.
It's awesome.
Mate, we had Jim Barlow on a few times.
And we'll keep getting him back on as the future goes along.
But he's like, I don't know if you were there, Joe,
but when we were talking with him, he's like,
if I close my eyes, he's just like listening to the podcast.
When we were at Sakura Picnic, I was.
Oh yeah, that's doing how to run there, right?
And then I remember Scotty was just like pissing himself.
He was like, yeah, he's like this.
We just, this is just how we talk.
Yeah, pretty much.
So no, but look, it is, it is nice to have guests on the show.
You know, we, but definitely, you know,
it's very esteemed guests like you, like yourself, Andrew,
because you've put together one of the most, you know,
it's actually an incredible story about how this has gone,
gone together, which, which, which we'll get to.
But it's just, it's, it makes, it makes the car community feel
a lot bigger than it is.
And it's because, you know, it's an event that's taking place
in a different state to where you are.
Yeah.
In a, in a location that has been abandoned ish
as from what it was originally.
Yeah, definitely.
But getting people from all parts of Australia
to rock up in the one location.
It's a mammoth mammoth task, mammoth event.
And I just want to commit, you know, commend you.
This is like, I don't know how you've got this off the ground.
You know, and from, from one man's idea coming, you know,
come big things and I'm proud of you.
Oh, thank you.
I'm, I'm very, very lucky that and yourself included here
that I've got an amazing supportive team of people that have
helped and incredible friends and an incredible wife.
That's very understanding.
So yeah, it's, it's, it's honestly not just me.
It's, it's a, it's a, yeah, it's, it's a big,
beautiful group of people.
So yeah, thank you.
It's, it's a, it's a big thing.
It's, it's a big community.
And, you know, I've, I've joined some of the,
some of the Magna pages, Magna madness and a few of the other things.
And, and, you know, just saying how excited everybody is for it.
Yeah.
It's, this is like, it blew my mind.
Like I went off, like I just joined and they're like, yeah,
we're getting the car ready for, for Magna 40, getting this
ready for Magna 40, Magna 40.
And I'm like, wow, this is, this is, this is legit.
Yeah.
It's a lovely feeling.
It's, I, I, I, you know, I can't wait to see you on the morning of
Magna 40.
Yeah.
Running around.
Running around.
Like a headless choke.
Yeah.
No way to see him on the next morning.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But I just want to see, I want to see, you know, you with,
with a big smile and the warmth that you, that you give to everybody,
but also a word of advice from, you know, please take it in.
Yeah.
That's, that's the thing that everyone said, including David said this as well.
It, it's hard to, but yeah, I totally, I totally agree.
You just need to take a minute just to take a breath and just to soak it in.
Cause it's, yeah.
I mean, I'm hoping someone else is going to organize Magna 50.
So I can just come along to just enjoy, but you're right.
It's, it's, um, I need to take a minute and just take a breath and,
and soak it all in.
It's, um, it's huge.
So yeah.
Um, wanted to start off by saying that, but, um, but, but yeah,
Magna 40th huge events.
Andrew, thanks for coming on the show.
No problem.
Just for some context.
You live on the other side.
Um, so, so you made, you made the trek out here.
Um, so, so first of all, a big thanks for that.
Totally worth it.
Um, appreciate it.
But, um, tell us a little bit about, so like a question,
I've got a question for you from the start.
How did this come about?
Like, like, how did, how did this one idea say, oh yeah,
we should do something for that.
Come into fruition.
Like, like what made you say, you know what, I'm going to do that.
It started with a cup of coffee with Mr. David Prince.
Haha.
That's, that's.
David's hiding his head.
Haha.
That is honestly how, yeah, we had, we have, uh, we've had many as we all have in
this room and on the podcast had, uh, coffee dates with Mr. David Prince.
And, uh, here's the man that, that shows us the, the, the ways of our,
of the road.
And, uh, it literally was sitting down and saying, look,
the 40th is coming up and I want it to be more than just sort of a few people
hanging out in the car park on a Sunday morning.
Um, but I don't know where to start.
Yeah.
And David's saying, well, you know what, we, you know, I can help you and we can,
we can do this and we can find the right people to talk to.
That's where it started.
It was literally over a cup of coffee and from there,
just starting to get contacts and starting to ask people where,
where, where, how can we do this?
What, what can we do to, to make it happen?
And that's really, yeah, that's really as simple as it is.
And I think the wonderful thing about this matter, even if you don't like Magnus,
I think the great thing is, is that it's the grassroots thing where it starts with
a couple of people that then grows into a few more people and then people start
talking about it on the socials and things like that.
And suddenly you've got the, the, the, the moment for me was when I thought this is
actually going to happen is when people started saying Magna 40.
Yeah.
Before I was going to have the Magna 40th celebration, it was actually,
it was actually really nice when people started and hashtagging it and things like
that, which was really cool.
That's when I thought, okay, it's actually growing its own legs.
It's actually not about David and I sitting down talking about Magnus over a coffee.
It was actually taking it well.
It's actually doing its own thing now, which is what I love.
And I, I mean, I, from a music background, so I love it when like a song suddenly grows
legs and it does its own thing and it, it sort of goes into the stratosphere.
Yeah.
That's on a very small scale, what I feel like Magna 40 is.
So it's, it's a lovely thing.
And even people have reached out to me online and said, look, you know,
never really sort of thought about Magnus, but I really want to come.
I actually want to come purely to see the, the enthusiasts and see the,
see the excitement behind it.
So yeah, that's, that's, that's what it's all about.
And for me, it's job done.
It's, it's a lovely feeling, but, and that's what a community is all about.
No matter what, if it's cars or music or football or whatever, that's what it should be about.
Absolutely.
Like, like we're a month.
This is our grand final coming up next month, isn't it?
Yes.
Yes.
It's, well, it's, you know, we're a month and two days out.
Yeah.
You know, and yeah, well, sorry.
Sorry, David.
We're a month and two days out.
And, you know, in terms of, in terms of where this has come,
like it feels like it's been a long time coming, but also it feels like it's.
It's gone so quickly.
You know, and every time I've talked to you, like, yeah, you know,
it's happening this time the other and, and, but like, I mean, Chad,
like you even bought a Magna for this, you know, like it's, it's, it's kind of,
it's grown, it's, it's grown like to people that wouldn't even be injured,
not even into Magnus.
Yeah.
Like I didn't even really, I've never even really driven in a Magna prior to this.
I've never known anyone.
Oh, I knew someone, but, you know, like I was really disconnected from it.
Yeah.
And just from hearing about it and just getting like excited, I, you know,
decided to buy one and, you know, go on this little adventure and, which is,
you know, hit, hit some road bumps here and there.
We'll get there.
We'll get in there.
And, but yeah, it's, you know, I think it is just how you've got everyone so
like excited about what's coming up.
It's infectious.
It's like, yeah, it's just, I know it's really like rubbed off on me.
I can only speak for myself.
But yeah, no, it's been, yeah, it's been great.
Like seeing the stuff that you've been putting up and everyone else engaging
as well, which is really cool.
I've never really, I'm not sure I've ever seen any car event where people have
gotten so involved.
Yeah.
Like you get it with cars and coffee and you get it with some other, I don't
think this feels like, you know, someone who might have had a magnet for 40
years is actually going to bring their car here and it's going to be like,
you know, I've kept it all this time.
I love this thing.
My moments are right.
Yeah, my moments are right.
Well, it's, it's funny you say that, David, because like I, my student
teacher from about three years ago, his name's Luke Gray Guy.
He loves old weird stuff and he's, he's, he's current driver is a,
he gets manual.
He loves it.
Anyway, I caught up with him.
We went to the footy and he's a great photographer and everything.
And, um, and, um, he's like, oh, you know, yeah, what are you doing this holidays?
I'm like, well, look, you know, just after the holidays, I'm going to, I'm going
to, to make the 40th and he's like, it's like, make the 40th.
And I explained it to him and he's like, he's like, oh dude, I'm flying over.
Yeah.
He, he even bought a t-shirt.
Like there is.
There is.
Um, and he's, he's like, I said, I said the idea to my wife and he's, he's got a young
kid, um, he's young son, Oscar.
And, and he's like, it's like, sorry, are you going to have to, you're going to have
to stay with, with your mom this weekend.
I'm going to back the 40th.
Like it's, and he's, cause he's actually originally from Adelaide and, um, and
he's getting all these other lady and friends just to, just to come in and just
to have a look.
That's wonderful.
So, so like, you know, just, just from that word of mouth, like it's, it feels
like the fact that it's, it's such a, it's, it's a, it's a car that's uniquely
Australian cause it is.
Yeah, it is.
But, but also it's, it's kind of like the unsung hero of this.
Definitely.
Of the Australian, uh, your automotive landscape.
And I think that now that it's, it's got some recognition and like, and I'll be
honest with you, some people are like, really?
Yeah.
Absolutely.
Then they're like, holy crap, there's actually a thing.
And the lover's getting in like my mate Luke, uh, um, that I, um, that I, you know,
that I mentored as a, as a, you know, as a student teacher.
He's on board.
Like his mates are on board.
Yeah.
And it was like, oh yeah, we had Magnus and this and that.
And, um, you know, it's the hilarious thing.
So many people, as you said, you're celebrating what, you know, it's like,
why would you do that?
And pounds to peanuts.
They will, within a minute, they're going, I didn't have a magnet.
Oh, my neighbor had, I remember they bought it and had the, had the electronic dashboard
in it.
Everybody knows someone that had one or, you know, we'd got driven to school in one
or, you know, mum and dad had one Andrew and like you.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's true.
It's a nice feeling for me personally.
Like it, it's, uh, it's, it's sort of spilled over to my professional,
dare I say, professional life.
Like I've been, um, I remember we were, we were doing a concert, um,
at a theater in Tamworth and I'm tuning up my guitar and the sound guys sorting things
out.
And he walked over to me, like really sort of, sort of casually said,
say, how are you Magnus going?
That's amazing.
And I'd never spoken to him about Magnus before.
It's just he's sent on socials and obviously seeing photos of me with him or something.
But this is a guy that does, you know, big theater things, big productions.
And he just walked on and said, Hey, how's your Magna going?
And he said, you know, I had, my mum had one exactly like one of yours is,
and then we went on this big spear and I said, Oh, by the way, we should do a sound
check.
But this is actually, this is, we ended up having this massive chat about Magnus.
So it's, it's a, it's a, it's a wonderful thing.
Like I said, I, I, uh, I never thought, and I've said this to David a million times.
I never thought in a million years I'd be organizing something like this.
And talking to all different people from all walks of life about Magnus,
about my weird obsession.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's, that's, yeah, that's, it's a, it's a lovely thing.
But you know what?
I want to commend you because no, like it's, it's not, and it isn't an obscure car.
It's, it's a well-established car, but it's a car that never got love in terms of,
in terms of like notoriety of like Yeholans and stuff.
Yeah.
And, and for most people with those sort of cars, they kind of just like, they've got
their following.
Yes.
But like, no one ever does something like that.
Like, you know, Ford do every, or Ford day every year, which is huge.
Which is massive.
Small Ford Sunday.
And, and we, you know, and these are massive events for, for, for those types of cars.
But nobody's done something like that in my recent memory channel.
I don't know if you, if you, or you guys aren't like Scotty or anything, but like,
for like a specific car, um, that's had, let's be honest, not a lot of love throughout
it's.
No.
From, from the, from the general public.
Definitely not.
You know, and this is, this is actually next level when you think about it.
Yeah.
Which is lovely.
And, uh, even though I know a lot of the, um, enthusiasts in the Magna scene, there's
so many other people.
I didn't realize how many people were actually really into it and had, had a rally art sitting
in their shed or, you know, one of one and, but that's, that's the thing.
And I get, I'm getting like daily emails about, oh, I've got this and the, um, pulling this
out for Magna 40 or I had this or I worked at Mitsubishi and I know this guy and that's
been a lovely thing for me.
Uh, and it's given me, I mean, so much more information like I, I just, yeah, the knowledge
I've been handed basically is, is really lovely.
Check.
The word you used is, is, is so appropriate infectious.
Infectious.
Right.
Yeah.
Infectious.
And, and, and I think like a bad disease way.
I was going to say Andrew is infectious in the very best possible way you could get from
that first, um, his first little trip to highball in, in, um, his Bayes wagon, uh, where people
just lost their minds over it.
Um, you know, it was, it was the perfect venue for that sort of not that you knew that then.
No.
Um, but, uh, it, it just really sort of lit a fire in people and, and Andrew is very good
at lighting fires in people.
He's infectious and the, um, I can remember that coffee to very well.
And I remember, um, typical of me, I mean, I've been involved in organizing few events,
but at this stage now, I just think, let's go the easy route.
So let's tack onto someone else's event like we don't have to do everything.
So that's where the, where the Adelaide thing came from because, um, I said, well Adelaide
Magna by the Birdwood.
So the Birdwood is this huge, massive, um, car rally that's on every October, um, goes
from Glenelg to the Birdwood Boating Museum up in the, up in the hills, Adelaide Hills.
Um, and yeah, I mean, first and second gen Magners are eligible for that.
It's got to be 30 years old.
So I thought, well, I wonder if anyone's ever thought of actually putting Magners in
it.
I mean, Adelaide is Magna.
And as we've found out so many times since, you know, everybody seems in everyone at Adelaide,
it seems first car was a Mitsubishi Magna.
It's a, it's your second or third car and the, um, the, the nostalgia that, that the
whole event's creating, I think is, is given at legs as well.
Yeah, definitely.
Well, if, if, if you're infectious, I'll take Andrew 19, uh, I'll have that as happily
as, uh, I'll get my vaccine for that.
Yeah.
See, it's, it's, you're right, um, guys, it feels, it feels surreal that this has taken
off the way it has.
Yeah, definitely.
So yeah.
Yeah.
Again, it's full credit to you, you know, like you've, you know, you're one man, one
Magna turned this into like, um, one man for Magners.
Yeah.
Well, I mean, you only brought one Magna to the first event and then you got to meet
people and, um, you know, and, and like, I wanted to talk about that too, because like
you didn't know David Prince.
You didn't know what we hadn't met, like, you know, you, you just, you, what made you
rock up that day?
You're like, and, and I want to preface this by saying car things happen and you know,
it's, they're, they're cars are like a key to making things happen.
Um, and a big part of this podcast is because of what happened to a car for me.
I was telling Chad the story last week about the combi van getting crushed.
I think I might have mentioned it to you guys.
And if it wasn't for that happening, I wouldn't have met you.
I wouldn't have met David.
I wouldn't have met Ed.
I wouldn't have met Thomas yourself.
Absolutely.
These, these events happen.
These things happen.
Like, you know, call it divide intervention or whatever you want to call it.
But like it's, you know, bring that car to that high ball event that day.
Yeah.
I think it changed your life.
Like, I 110 million percent, like it was, and it was really, um, it was a, it was a
sort of a mutual friend, um, actually, it was actually, no, what I'm saying, it was
a friend of mine that, um, he, he said I should come along and I was like, oh, look,
I don't think they'll want to have Magnus, uh, at this, he's like, no, no, no, you
should, you should come along and really I, I'm really ashamed of myself.
I, I remember I drove in and I literally got out of the car as quickly as I could,
locked it and walked away and I, and I feel really ashamed that I actually, but I was
like, oh, you know, it's all these, you know, amazing Alpha Romeo's coming in,
let him again, and I just pulled up and, um, and walked away and literally, well,
maybe 10 minutes later, I was walking back and this, this friend of mine, Nigel, he's
like, mate, you've got to come back to your car.
You're not going to believe what's happening.
And I had in my head that they were literally picking it up and like pushing it
out the, pushing out the gates or something.
And I walked back and there was, there was, people were just like cute around it,
taking photos.
He said, just take a step back and take this in for a minute because it's, it's
weird and it's a $600 magna.
You know, that's, that's, that's, you know, and that was where it all started.
And then from there, I met John, who is one of the main organizers of Highball,
which then introduced me to David.
David introduced me to you guys.
Yeah.
I started listening to the podcast.
Yeah, you're right.
It's like this, it's like a domino effect in a positive way.
So now, you know, in my, in my 40s, I've got this whole new world and whole
new range of amazing friends, which doesn't happen a lot.
No, it doesn't.
Yeah.
So yeah, life completely changed from one car show and a $600 magna.
And then that's, that's kind of, yeah.
I find that just, I find that amazing because there's not many things in life
that can do that.
And, you know, and I've said it before on the show and I think you boys would
all agree, cars are one of those things that, that, that can, that can do that.
Like they bring people, you know, if I didn't, if I didn't stop Edward, when
he was putting his jacket away, getting ready to go and say, oh, I'm going to 16.
I wouldn't be here right now with you guys.
Yeah, yeah.
You know, it's just, it's, it's crazy how that works.
And, you know, I remember, I remember when you were, when your magna was
always there, that high ball, David and I were just like, did you see that?
No, like, I'm madly trying to look for the photos in, in my, in my phone.
Yeah, because I took photos a bit on that morning.
Yeah.
2021 in between lockdowns.
Lockdowns.
Yeah.
So I'm going to say it was, I remember it was really cold.
Yeah.
Founder, 16th of May, 2021.
It was.
Yep.
Yeah.
It is.
So, oh, wow.
Oh, wow.
It doesn't like my filter, but no, that's the car.
You had a good spot too.
Like you parked it.
Yeah.
That's, so yeah, three photos, three photos.
Let's advance Australia, one of them is.
How is that?
And how, how does that cost 600 bucks?
Like it's too good to be a six angle.
Yeah, it was.
And when, once again, it was that luck, the story, you know, I, I've been
looking for years and years for that particular car.
And I think we spoke about this when I was the last of a podcast
a few years ago now and just sheer luck.
Put up a post late at night saying, is anyone got this, this car?
Well, manual one, what a fuel injected one, blah, blah, blah.
And Michael Taylor wrote back and said, I've got one sitting in my shed
in Horsham, it's been sitting in there for five years.
Do you want to come and have a look at it?
If you like it, you can have the 600 bucks and from their meeting him.
I mean, he's found parts and got all of my magmas back on the road.
If it wasn't for him, then none of them would be running.
Another one would be on a club plate or anything like that.
So it's once again, it's that it's yeah, domino effect of meeting him.
Therefore buying other cars goes on from there, you know, so.
Tell us about him.
So so where does where is he in the realm of anger?
Well, it's like extek or anything.
So Michael Taylor is his name and he lives out in Jung,
which is on the outskirts of Horsham.
Yes, basically, as you're driving, when you drive through Horsham,
you do a left hand turn, which takes you onto Adelaide.
You do a right hand turn onto the Henty Highway.
It's like just barren kind of like a few farmhouses and broken up road.
If you drive sort of 20 kilometres up the Henty Highway,
his house is on a hill and you just see sigmas and magners
sitting on the top of his hill and one Ford Capri.
What if he's got one?
That's right.
Yeah. And so it's so basically Michael is a mechanic
and being a originally a Chrysler guy.
Then went on to sigmas, went on to the magners and went on to three eighties.
And so he's been very loyal and all the way through.
I mean, even now, I mean, he recommends anyone in the district by Tritons
or Pajeros and things like that.
So yeah, yeah.
And so, I mean, he's the he's the go to guy.
There was apparently another guy up in Horsham that was a magna guru.
And Michael, like, sort of learned his tools
to trade through this other guy who's quite elderly now and retired.
So, yeah.
And I mean, we I remember the first phone call
when I called up about about the car, the beige one.
I think the phone conversation went for three hours.
Well, and by the end of it, I mean, I said, look,
I think I've got a friend here for life.
So and because we were just just back and forth talking about it.
And he was telling me about all the things that he's done.
And so he's he's he's really my go to guy as far as trying to find parts
we're just asking for advice.
The annoying thing is it is Melbourne to Horsham.
I've done a lot of those drives and that's the tricky part.
But even if he just recommends things and I can try and find it in Melbourne.
But yeah, he's I mean, he's really been the the whole core reason
that all of my cars are running and he's found the weirdest,
hardest parts for them as well.
And I'm currently going through a bit of an ordeal with another magna
just trying to get parts for it before Magna 40.
And the issue of the original issue we had was the transmission had gone.
Good luck trying to find a transmission for a T.M.
Magna from 1985.
And they changed apparently they changed the the casing and the plugs
for them in 1986, so trying to find one year of a car.
And he found one in a paddock in another car that had been reconditioned
and it had like 10,000 Ks and the owner said, well,
can I pay you to get rid of it?
So we've got a free transmission for it bolted in and it's running like a dream.
So we've we've almost got that one through a roadworthy with free parts.
Gee, so yeah.
So Chad, have you been notified about this man?
I have heard about it from you, I think.
And then I spoke to Andrew and then I believe you and checked with with him
to see if he had any parts for a T.S.
And no luck, unfortunately.
But yeah, that sounds like a like an urban legend.
Yes, like just just a guy who lives in the hills that has Magnus.
Maybe you and how old is he?
So he's yeah, like so he's probably about you in about 15 years.
I see. Yeah.
Plans to move to Horsham, guys, so I know a place.
That's that is funny.
Well, we'll have to get we have to get yours there.
Chad, like that's that needs to happen.
It's yeah, I mean, it's it's I have some leads and I'm just working through them.
So yeah, I'm I'm trying to do my best to make the one month and two day deadline.
Yeah. At this point, yeah, we'll we'll make it.
All right. The event.
Let's talk about the event.
Now, Magna 40, 18th of October.
Yep. Tonsley Park.
Tonsley Park. Yeah.
Tell us about it.
Who's involved? What's the day looking like?
You know, give us give us a bit of the run now.
Sure. And I'll let David take over some of this as well,
because I think he'll explain it a lot better than I will, actually.
But I'll start it off.
So basically, it's it's it's basically like a cars and coffee,
but dedicated to Magnus and Veritas.
We've had a ticket link up for nearly six months now, which is now closed.
So originally, the the sort of predicted amount of cars was
I had a meeting with Mitsubishi Motors Australia, who are kindly
backing us and and and helping out, which has been amazing.
I predicted 40 cars.
Everyone at the meeting laughed at me.
And so you're not going to get 40 cars at that event.
We closed it at 120.
Well, and I've got a waiting list of 35 cars.
Yeah.
And I'm getting daily emails from other people saying,
is there any way you can put me on that long waiting list?
So I mean, the people drop out, you know, and come and go.
But look, I I predict with people dropping out and all that sort of stuff,
there's definitely going to be if they're not inside the actual building
because we've got an allocated area of the of the original
cries limits of issue building.
There's going to be at least 130 cars there.
And this is all generations of of Magnus and Veritas.
So we're going right back to nine eighty five.
I mean, the most incredible thing is that there's currently
twenty five first generation Magnus that are signed up,
which I didn't think would I've never seen so many.
I wanted to actually see them all together.
I think I think you are going to be googly-eyed, my friend.
Yeah, I think I think, David, you'll be running around with box a box of tissues.
I think there's something like I just, you know,
to I think be such an emotional experience.
So yeah, so we've got we're fully, fully, fully beyond fully booked.
But yeah, on the day it's a lock in event.
So cars will start coming to, I guess, for a load in from nine o'clock.
The actual event is between ten a.m.
and one thirty, which is really cool.
The great thing is thanks to people like yourself, Matt,
who have helped us with designing and stickers and everything.
Everyone's going to have like show bags.
We've got stickers, a good friend of ours,
who's an incredible Magna guru, Paul Gatt.
You've probably seen him online, mainly sharing Simpsons memes.
But his knowledge, yeah, his knowledge is, is out of this world.
And he's made these incredible, like 3D,
like printed Magna 40 key rings.
So everyone, everyone gets an ice cream.
So we've all will have one each participation.
Yes. Yes.
So when we come in, we we've got a media wall.
So we've got a professional photographer, a really great guy,
Patrick Jackson, who works for retro rides.
And he does a heap of different stuff online, like car content.
He did a great story on Magna 40 a few months ago
and took some photos and stuff of my cars.
So he's going to be taking photos for everyone.
Every single car will have like a professional photo when it comes in.
So, yeah, because that's something that I mean,
I think highball is really, really good that most cars get a photo taken.
But I have been to other shows and I won't mention names that I've literally
seen people walk along and take photos of all the high end cars
and then see a Magna, a laser and a Camry
and literally skip those cars and then go to the Porsche.
It's just traffic.
It's just traffic. Yeah.
And so I was determined that every single person
at least can say, well, I've got a professional photo of my car.
That's awesome.
So, yeah, we've got this six meter long media wall
is currently sitting in my living room.
So we've got to organize that.
You've got a very, very, very patient beyond beyond the saint.
And from there, basically, yeah, we've got this is David's idea
to have the cars lined up like the end of the production line.
So we've got first generations in a line.
We've got second generations, third majority of the space will be taken up
with third generation cars.
We've got like, I think there's like 15 rally arts.
Well, 20 VRXs, like really, yeah, a lot of sort of modified stuff as well,
which would be great.
So that's kind of the main set up there, which would be really nice.
Yeah, that'd be cool.
So historic Trust South Australia have come to the party as well,
because the who actually run when you first contacted them around the Beta Birdwood.
Of course, the fellow that runs at Dan Wilden, lovely bloke,
who is involved with historic Trust South Australia,
has his grandfather's magnet that his grandfather bought new.
So that there's little connections everywhere
all over the place in on the ground in Adelaide.
So, yeah, I mean, for those that don't know, I mean, the Tonsley Park is actually
where the cars were manufactured and where the cars are going to be displayed
is actually the final production line.
So it's not only is it a cool, really cool space.
It's now occupied by Linda's University in a lot of tech startup companies
and the like, but it's got a real historic historic connection as well
to the to the area, the city of Marion.
And also, you know, a lot of the people live around there were involved in it.
I think when production shut down, there was a lot of, you know,
sadness and a lot of feeling around it.
But now, you know, 20 years on, I really feel that's been replaced by nostalgia
and just the comments you're getting definitely from from your from your posts.
Magneturns 40 on Facebook, it's brilliant.
The number of people that work there that said, oh, these were great years,
you know, and and they'll be there on the day.
You know, I mean, we've we've got 120, 130 cars actually coming to the event.
But there'll be a lot more people than that there.
I think there'll be a lot more people who want to just come and reminisce and have a look.
There's a great cafe that's going to be opening on site on the day.
Three little pods is opening up for us.
And yeah, we've got a number of people coming to speak.
Andrew can fill you in with those as well.
And we're actually getting a bit of bit of media interest as well,
which is really encouraging, too.
And then, of course, on the Sunday, the cars that are are eligible.
I think we've got about 20 cars actually.
Entered a bird, I think Andrew.
Yeah, I think it's I think it's a 20 now.
Yeah. Yeah.
But there'll actually be a separate magnum meat on that Sunday
for like the third generation people, if they want to get that.
I think they're planning.
I've got a couple of other South Australian guys
organizing it.
I think they might be going out to like Wilonga or like out to the wine region.
And they can, yeah, go out there or come to Bader Birdwood.
Sadly, the cars aren't eligible.
But at least it gives all those people that have traveled.
Like I mean, a lot of guys are coming from Queensland.
Yeah, but there's two guys coming from Western Australia.
The drop driving across one guy's driving.
The other guy I saw online is trying to organize like a trailer.
Higher one way from from Perth to Tonsley Park.
So, yeah, like people are serious.
I mean, I thought we had a tough going from Victoria.
Yeah, with a closer state.
Yeah, exactly.
So, yeah, it's it's it's just kind of it's it's absolutely it's just it's nuts.
It's yeah.
Wow. Just insane.
But we'll let the cat out of the bag.
I actually put a post up today that we have a very, very special guest coming.
So Ed Ordinsky is actually going to be at Magnaforti and hang out with everyone.
That's an incredible get.
Yeah. And for those who don't know, Ed, he's had like nearly 40 years of rally championships.
I mean, there's a photo that popped up the other day that he was driving,
even driving Peter Brock's VP Commodore.
Like he was showing Peter Brock because I think Peter Brock before
when he passed away, he was getting it's a rally.
Yeah, Ed was a part of helping him or helping him train or retrain for the rally.
Well, so it's just he's just had his you know, he mainly raced Evo's and VR4's and things like that.
But he was also behind a lot of the development with the rally art and with the VRX and things like that.
So I had an hour and a half conversation with him and he's like, look,
I he said, I've sent online and I've just seen how it's grown and just been a natural,
just enthusiast event.
He said, I want to be a part of it.
He said, what can I do?
And I said, we'll look in the perfect world.
Would you like to say a few words?
And he said, yeah, you tell me when and I'll be there.
And we've been messaging back and forth, you know, my mate Ed.
And and he's been saying, look, yeah, well, my best friend, you know, what can we do?
So it's it's it's a wonderful thing.
And yeah, once again, just hopefully adding something else to the event that that people will enjoy.
Sorry, sorry, Maddie, you're just missing a tiny little snippet
that's very important in that story is that Mitsubishi actually gave you
access to a lot of the archival information and videos and films and stuff.
And you posted a video on on the on the make of 40 page
of Ed rallying a T.R.
A pre-production T.R.
Sudan. Yeah.
And and someone tagged him in it and he saw it.
And that's where it all started, sort of thing.
That's when he sort of knew what was happening and going on.
So, yeah, you know, he's that was that was how that was how that little snippet came about.
Yeah. And the great thing was, I was I was actually chatting to Ed about it.
And he said, he said, I started going to car shows.
He said, after you posted that video and he said, people saying, hey, Ed,
we didn't realize that you were doing all this.
And they and they were re that his friends were resharing that video over and over and over again.
So it's been shared like quite a few thousand times.
And so I think it's had like 40,000 views.
So I've never gone viral before, but that video of Ed drifting of a T.R. prototype.
And I said, oh, how did you like, do you remember the day?
And he said, yeah, he said, basically, we got was somewhere like the back blocks of the Adelaide Hills.
And they said, oh, Ed, look, they just want you to drive it.
And he said, well, what, like like a family guy or do you want to drive it hard?
And they said, well, how about we do one take?
You just driving it normally and then just absolutely fang the thing out of it.
And he said, OK, so they did one take of him driving it sort of conservatively.
And then they did another one where he absolutely went, let it rip.
And they said, cool, do you want to go for a coffee?
Yeah, OK, cool. So they had it knocked over.
And he was home in time for a morning coffee.
And if you watch that footage, I mean, that's what he says.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
He's not. Yeah.
So so it's it's great to hear the the back story that he remembered.
Yeah, I mean, nineteen ninety one.
He did that one. So and that was a four cylinder.
He's not getting his hands on my six wagon.
Yeah. Yeah, but it was great that he commented.
And the lovely thing was, was quite a few magna
gurus Paul Gatt as well, who actually tagged Ed and said, Ed, please drift my magna.
So, yeah, so, yeah, it's it's it's a wonderful thing to have it involved
and and love it, a chat to someone so professional and so enthusiastic about it.
Yeah. So yeah. Yeah, I like that's that's that's a huge get.
I wonder if he was involved in the in the old drive program, like, you know,
with with the with them, because he was he was in some of the, you know,
that's called the advertisements at the time.
Well, he did that ad that was banned because it was the one between the comparison
between the Falcon Commodore.
And so that was actually banned on TV.
But if you watch it, it's actually Ed driving that.
So I think he was behind the development of it.
But he certainly he said that when they were looking, how did he explain it?
They had to give a top speed of it for
for Germany, apparently, because they wanted to send it to Germany.
And they have to look for the specs for compliance or whatever.
However, you want to say it.
So he had to drive it and red line it to see what the top speed was.
And so they actually got Ed to do all that.
Yeah, all that work for them.
So pretty pretty amazing.
Can I say what in any state?
Yeah, like to ban that ad.
It's not even that bad.
Like it's it's anyway.
Yeah, Scotty's got his he's always got his tinfoil hat on.
Yeah. But what are your thoughts, Scotty?
Are you a any state 100% is Victoria's the worst.
But dude, that's an amazing guy.
I can't wait to I can't actually see him in person.
Yeah, I think there'll be quite a few people want to chat to him.
And yeah, I mean, I actually originally said to myself, look,
I don't want to take up too much of your time if you want to come at a specific
time and then do a little speech and go.
He said, no, no, he said, well, when does it start?
I said, well, all the cars will hopefully be in by 10 o'clock.
So I'll just come and you said, can I get a coffee?
And I'll just just wander around and have a chat to some people.
And they said, I can make a speech before the end of the event.
And I said, I said, I'll sort of base it around my my time, obviously,
with Mitsubishi and with Magnus and the development I was behind.
And he said, and if there's any questions, he said, great.
And then I said, I'll get off the mic.
You know, so you went to each other night with black uniforms, glasses to
security security. Sorry, guys.
You can't. Sorry. Yeah, definitely.
Meanwhile, he and I just feigned yearling and trying not to try not to do it.
Oh, man. Sorry.
So that's a huge get events.
In South Australia, a massive get like that's so they're doing
they're helping you out with public liability and all that.
They've helped out with public liability.
As as David said, Dane has been incredible because I've had to.
I've been so lost with knowing all the red tape stuff,
which I've never had to deal with this sort of thing before.
So Dane organises major events in South Australia, not just car events
like Bader Birdward, but he does like he was organising.
They restored the Priscilla Queen of the Deserts.
Like the bus. Yeah, yeah.
So he they did this big like sort of like revealed it when it was all done.
And so he was involved with trying to get the logistics of driving it across
a certain part of South Australia.
And like so he does all really odd stuff as well.
And he said, look, email me anytime.
Let's have meetings.
David and I have gone to South Australia and had meetings with with Dane
and with Mitsubishi Motors Australia.
And he's always been really positive.
And he's always said, just you throw me all your ideas
and I can see if we can make it happen.
So even to the point that we were hoping to get the original
TM prototype that's currently sitting in the National Museum.
And he's like he actually he pushed so much that we were very, very close.
But the problem is it sits on a podium.
You'd have to move.
He said you have to move 20 cars to get to it and it's not running.
And but we got to the point that we were discussing
getting it on a truck, how to do it, how, you know, how many of us could push it
into the building. I was going to talk to you guys about that.
Luckily to do that.
But I mean, that's he's like I said to him, I think it's impossible.
He said, well, let's just really try.
And we I mean, look, unfortunately, it is impossible.
But the fact that he tried to make that happen.
I think that's a you've got the right people on your side.
As I said before, I'm lucky.
I've got people like Dane and Dave and you guys that are like,
let's just let's just go for it and see as much as as much as we can get done.
Let's let's do it.
100 percent. So yeah, very, very lucky.
And Mitsubishi Australia, Mitsubishi, Mitsubishi Motors Australia.
Yep. Obviously, big corporate, big corporate.
Yep.
Were they in the same vein?
Were they OK with it?
Were they like, oh, yeah, that sounds like a great deal.
Were they kind of a bit more conservative?
Because car brands can be quite conservative with with what they do.
Absolutely. I mean, I'm sure David feels the same way.
They've they've been really supportive and they've given me access
to all this incredible archives, yeah, footage and taking meetings with me.
When especially when like really, when you think in corporate,
I'd be at the absolute bottom of the barrel of things that they have to worry about.
They still took the time out, Adam Davis at Mitsubishi Motors.
He has taken the time out to to listen to to me, to listen to David,
all that back and forth emails, like I said, meetings in person and online.
So it's been a lot, yeah, a lot of support, which has been great.
And I mean, yeah, I was surprised as well.
But they've they've backed it and they've really tried.
And to the point that we've actually got drive.com.au involved.
And that is because of of Adam basically liaising with them
and then getting David and I in touch with with drive.com.au.
And they're supplying a car to come up on a convoy with us.
So basically drive.com.au will come up with us on the convoy to South Australia.
We'll have a support vehicle of of an outlander or something,
just in case, you know, something needs to be repaired.
And and then the whole event will be should be on channel nine,
three A.W. and drive will do little snippet videos along the way of us.
Hopefully not with Magnus overheating or anything like that.
It'll be positive stuff.
It'll be great. Yeah.
But the great thing is, I mean, that's that's Mitsubishi behind it
and and funding it as well, which is a huge help.
That's massive. Yeah.
I like the fact that you got them on board,
you know, especially with, you know,
with a car that they haven't had a production for coming on 20 years.
Yeah. It's 6,000 production.
It's 05. Yeah.
Oh, yeah. So yeah.
That's massive. Yeah. Yeah.
That's huge. And the fact that they've still got the backed in.
And yeah, but if you find a bit of back now, I would say.
It does tell nicely with its 45 years since Mitsubishi motors
was established in Australia.
And and it's interesting.
All of the legacy brands that we have in Australia,
all the established, you know, particularly Japanese based brands
that they have a history in Australia that a lot of the new Chinese brands don't
have, so they're really trying to leverage that.
So it dovetails nicely into their 45th anniversary celebrations as well.
I mean, I mean, I guess like when we've talked about it before,
but that's why like brands like Subaru, I know it's a magnificent show,
but that's what's super like I've done really well in this country
because they really rely on their heritage and they've done that in advertising campaigns.
Absolutely. And I think I think that for them,
like people that buy Subaru's will continue to buy Subaru's.
Yeah, absolutely.
It's a great thing.
And if you want to lean into their heritage and say, you know,
this is what we did, what we, you know, people will be like,
oh, yeah, I remember the man, oh, my dad had a magnet or this.
Oh, I might go to the Mitsubishi dealership and have a.
Yeah, absolutely.
And, you know, I'm after a new car and.
Yeah. Yeah.
So yeah, absolutely.
It's things that they need to do. Sorry, sorry.
It seems that they need to do because, you know, it is important.
Yeah, I totally agree.
But it's look sadly, yeah, a lot of corporate companies,
if even if they're not cars, they're just not interested.
Absolutely.
We've been lucky with this, that going into a meeting like that,
I found it ridiculously intimidating and overwhelming
because I'm like, I'm just an enthusiast.
And just to just a hack, you know, like,
yeah, speaking to these high end guys.
And I mean, thanks once again to David for giving me the confidence
and then having David there as well.
Absolutely.
That we I think we sold it well.
Yeah. So yeah.
So again, massive get.
Yeah, the fact that they're on board.
Any other big events happening on the on the day
and any other things that are that are coming up, coming about?
Because I know you said you've got you've got you've got the bags with with stickers.
You've got Erudinsky.
You've got them on board.
You've got the coffee shop open.
Yep. We'll also have each generation, Magna, all the commercials.
I've spent many, many hours, but lots of fun compiling them all together.
So what we've got a TV screen will be running at the back
in out of the back of my beige wagon on loop on loop
throughout the entire event.
Yes, yeah.
Yeah.
And we've also got the the Tonsley pod, as David was talking about.
It's just kind of it's like a sort of a funky looking portable.
And it's got like it's like there's desks and it's got a TV screen and everything.
And we're going to have a lot of the archive footage running on loop as well
throughout the throughout the event.
So that was something else.
I had lots of fun, many, many late nights, but Jesus, it was fun to decide.
What should I put on?
You know, that that was that was incredible to be able to do that.
So we'll have that running as well.
So, you know, if you need a bit of a break from all the Magnus in the main area,
you can go into the Tonsley pod and just chill out and watch Magnus on video instead.
It's you get Magnus in all directions.
Doesn't get any better.
Yeah, you're getting that.
You're getting a comic of the again.
Yes, all of those as yes.
Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah, it's it's all happening at Magnus 40.
The ladies and gentlemen, consider a blade of grass.
And then what we'll have is after the event, obviously,
there's a bit of pack down time and everything, but we are organizing like a
just a really casual get together that night for the Saturday night.
At a venue fairly close by that we're to be to be advised,
but we're David and I are going to go and check it out next week
just to make sure it's up to a Magnus standard.
It's quite it's close by anyway.
So and that's just open for whoever's available can come along.
We'll definitely have details and everything up online.
And that'd be a good location,
because if you find a better backed, better built car, you know, that's
you didn't buy it.
Definitely. Yeah.
What was the guy's name that he was head of
Mitsubishi and he was saying that it always every time I.
So it's Tom Phillips.
Tom Phillips, that's it.
Yeah, Tom Phillips.
He's in his chair and he's like, if you find it like you, you buy it.
I'm like, well, geez, OK, he's a theory.
That's his car, his actual car will be at the event as well.
Yeah, as a friend of mine who actually owns his car.
And throughout the years, before Tom passed away,
he actually was this guy's lovely guy, James Harris, who's he's coming up.
And he just happens to be looking in the his blog book.
And you have a hang on a minute, T Phillips.
He's looking at the service records like that's
say Mitsubishi Motors Australia.
He's like, so he actually reached out to Tom.
He's like, yeah, that's my car.
It's one of one.
It's got like it's a rare interior for the actual model and everything.
So what? Yeah.
Yeah, you need color combo and weird.
Yeah, David's saying it's it's a weird sort of color combo.
It's like they didn't do it's a it's a TL Magna, but it's got like
it's really, really high spec and with the sunroof.
And yeah, but Tom said, I want this, this, this, this, this and they said,
well, no worries, Mr. Phillips will make it for you.
And it's it still exists.
It's immaculate and James has done an incredible job to look after it.
So that car will be there as well, which is great.
Chad, I imagine finding I imagine finding like a one of one.
Like, does that even exist in any other really?
I mean, I'm sure it does.
But like in a weird Australian car, it's pretty probably a pretty hard.
Yeah. But how ball would you be like, I'm the boss build it?
Yeah, you know, it's true.
I want that to do it.
Like it's what are you going to say?
No to the boss. Like definitely.
That's all there are any.
I don't know if I send you guys a story, but like I'm going to send it to David.
This one guy in the in the 60s wanted to wanted to
as an American wanted to want to wagon.
Yeah, there was a galaxy wagon or something.
And and but wanted it with the big engine and a manual.
And they said it can't be done.
But if you if you try, if you send a letter to this to this guy,
he might allow it for you.
Yeah. And he sends gets any gets a message back.
And it was from Leigh.
I said, yeah, if you put that through the door for you,
it's like a one of one car.
Like it's it's that kind of story that I want to see this car.
Yeah, yeah, it's it's impressive.
Yeah, I'll definitely be a point it out.
It's it's an impressive car and incredible history.
I mean, yeah, I met James at a like a Magnum Madness meet up.
I think it was just before Christmas a few years ago.
And he started telling me the story and I just couldn't believe it.
And he said, look, and he was showing me all the documentation
and he showed me the emails back and forth with Tom.
And yeah, it's it exists.
Yeah. How did he how did he get it?
Like, like what happened there?
He he just bought it.
He always liked that particular model.
But he said it was just sheer luck that he bought the car
at a decent price from a car yard many years ago.
Oh, yeah. Yeah.
It was just sitting in a car yard in in Footscray.
And he said, oh, you know, it's a good price.
It's like kilometers. I really like that model.
It was a Magna guy anyway.
And he said he bought it.
And then he just he said, you know, as we do when we buy a car,
we sit there for hours going through the books and trying to work out
where the people if they still live there, so you can go and tell them,
I've got your car and all that sort of stuff.
And he was going through it going, hang on a minute.
So yeah, he said it was just sheer luck that he said, I like the car.
I bought it purely because that was a model that I wanted to have.
And it was the right price and good condition, blah, blah, blah.
And it was just the absolute cherry on top was the fact that it was
Tom Phillips's personal car.
That's what it's amazing.
Like even the car yard happened to keep the books
so that he was able to chase it all back because, you know,
car yards probably just throw those in the bin for the most part.
But yeah, that's so bloody awesome.
Yeah. Just I mean, just sheer luck. Yeah.
That's like so it's a one of one color as well.
One of one color trim. Yeah.
What color is it?
How do you even describe it, David?
It's it's a really it's a deep burgundy.
Yeah. With a beige leather interior.
Wow. Because the burgundy cars, I think,
only came usually came with gray. Right.
So so was the color is it is it a standard color?
Was that that was like a rare option for him?
Well, apparently for him, that's that's what I mean.
I'm just purely going by what James I feel awful.
I don't know a lot about the later.
Like that's the L also.
I mean, I'm a first gen astronaut
engine man at six, man, two point six all the way.
But but I'm going purely by what I mean, James would know.
But he said, look, yeah, it's it's a slightly different color.
And if you look at the VIN number as well, it's like, you know,
within the code there, it's like, you know, zero zero one.
Yeah. Yeah.
So that it's a slightly different color.
And like David said, like the interior, yeah,
it's a kind of a beigey sort of color, which usually it wasn't
as gray or black, I think.
So is it a maybe a varada?
It's a it's a all wheel drive varada.
OK, yeah.
But it's got different rims on it from the normal ones.
Like it's a real kind of bits of Frankenmagnum.
All the parts that that the Tom wanted.
So yeah.
Well, that's cool.
It's pretty amazing.
Imagine imagining the line working in that like building that car.
I'd be like, oh, it's the boss's car. I don't know.
Yeah.
If you didn't like him, make like a big battle in the interior.
Yeah. Where is his bloody head?
Oh, come on. Yeah.
I said, if I said these things, if you find a better car.
I'm going down to four dealership.
That's a cool story.
Yeah. Look, I mean, and there's I mean, lots of stories like that
that you'll everyone will hear about on the day.
Yeah.
Hopefully we haven't spoken and I was hoping maybe he might be online.
So I missed a bunching might go around and have a chat to owners as well
on the day, but we'll we'll have to sweet talk him and get him to do that as well.
Absolutely. Absolutely.
It's all our lovely car talk friends that are making the trek over.
We're really excited to have you along and you'll have a high
vis jacket on on the day and a lanyard because we we we would really appreciate
a bit of help organising and parking.
It's more than happy to more than happy to help.
Thank you, guys.
You know, it's a I might feel like I might feel important for a change.
Oh.
It's like what they say when you when you're high vis, you're important.
You can go anywhere. It's true.
It's it's very true when Chad rocks up with his high vis and his jumper.
Like, I mean, I'm like, yeah, it's like you can walk into like the formula one,
for example, just walk into the pit lane and we're like, yeah, I'm here to work.
What do you what do you want?
Oh, yeah.
Or if you got a ladder.
Yeah, like you walk in with that.
Yeah, I just just saw you up on you through my up.
Yeah.
That'll be something Scotty would do.
I reckon.
I thought about it, especially at the Grand Prix, you know,
where the photographers get to go up really high and they're up there
and I see it's kind of empty.
It's like, oh, I just want to such a good view from up there.
I just want to just wear a high vis of some sort.
Yeah, I'm just just heading up and just maintenance or something.
Just give it a go.
I'll tell you what, Scotty.
I'll design you a high vis with with, you know, press on it like for the back,
you know, and then OK, that's all I need.
That's what you need to get anywhere then.
Absolutely. You'd be like, just buy it.
No, it's this way, man.
Yeah.
There's so many cool spots I could end up.
I don't know if you'd be standing next to Max, you're just taking a photo.
I'm here to interview you, Max.
That would be funny, actually.
And you're speaking of speaking of Merch, Andrew,
that you probably should do a shout out for the merchandise link.
Absolutely. Yes.
So we do have some incredible merchandise
that Mr.
Janina's have kindly helped us do and the designs are amazing.
I think if you go via, we do have it on on the on the Magna page,
but if you go via the car tour.
Yeah, it's on there as well.
Yeah, you can you can even choose what color you want.
And it's even like a custom bit.
Have you seen that? I have, yeah.
But you can I think like change the bits and pieces of it or something
and make it smaller or bigger or you can you can make it a bit more unique.
Yeah. Wow, which is kind of cool.
But it's been it's been popular.
Yeah, it's really lovely.
And I've had so many.
I've actually I'm compiling once again into all my compiling stuff now,
compiling all these photos of people wearing them that have been sending me
like really positive, beautiful messages or something.
And I'll send it all your way.
I mean, if it wasn't for you, we wouldn't have it.
So yeah, it's amazing.
So yeah, we're really grateful and they they do look incredible
and a massive bonus is I mean, the actual t-shirt is really good quality as well.
Yeah, I was relieved.
That was my next question because I've ordered one, but I haven't received it yet.
And I spoke to my mate, Luke, I'm like, how's the quality?
He's like, oh, it's great. I'm like, OK, good.
Well, that's good. It's good to know. Yeah.
So yeah, the tote bags are great.
I I haven't ordered a cap yet.
But if I don't know if anyone is anyone ordered a cap?
I haven't ordered a cap. David, I haven't.
Yes, but I will be.
Yeah, but it's yeah, all amazing, positive reviews.
Everyone loves the design.
So yeah, we're we're all very, very grateful.
So thank you so much, Maddie.
No, absolutely.
Absolutely. I'm happy to help with that.
And I haven't even part of it because it's like this is like
it's this type of stuff that excites me. Yeah.
It's it's it's really good.
Yeah, but you can find the merch on on all your on all your pages
on Magna turns 40. Yes, Facebook. Yes.
I think on your Instagram as well.
Yeah, I've shared it wherever I can.
So I've sort of shared it across various
magna pages like Magna Madness and there's a TM, TNT, P Magna page
for for all those guys.
Yeah, on my personal stuff.
Obviously, yeah, through the talk page and everything as well.
So yeah, absolutely.
Like it's it's it's still a lot like people are really like it.
I would I would preface try to get it before two weeks before the before the thing.
Yeah, it does take about four or five days to process them.
Because like that is not just the ones that they're making.
They're making, you know, four hundred million other companies.
Yes. So and they just gets put in a order.
Bang, bang, bang, bang, and they don't know they make them as they go.
So yeah, if you want to get up before
Magna 40th, get in there nowish.
Yep, because now it's under a month.
Give yourself, I'd say give yourself three weeks, but two weeks.
This should be sure.
Fingers crossed should be enough.
But yeah, definitely.
But a lot of the other people have seen like they won't be available at the event.
No, correct. That is correct.
They would they would not be available at the event
because we'll be too busy having fun to be selling.
Yeah, definitely.
It should be discussing all the all the all the all the astronauts and all the.
Yeah, you know, all the all the good stuff,
the good Magna and Varada Varada biz.
But yeah, yeah, fine emerge there.
And it'd be good to just to see how many people
will be walking around wearing the Magna shirts.
Yeah, really cool. Absolutely.
There'll be a lot of them, I guarantee.
I think I think we could even possibly do like a little QR code
if they want to buy it, if they see like, oh, that's really cool.
We definitely, you know, when they're at the show.
Yeah, yeah, that's a great idea.
Yeah, so like they can you can have a QR code to that.
Yeah, they can they can didn't get one, but I'll get one there.
So yeah, so that'd be pretty cool.
But yeah, I was happy to help with that
and glad to see the positive response.
Yeah, it's been yeah, absolutely wonderful. Yeah.
So any other things about the day that's that's happening
or is that that's pretty much the that's I mean, that's the I think I've
I think I've covered it, David.
Have I missed? Yeah, you've done a brilliant job, I think.
Look, I mean, the most important thing is is very exhausted already.
Yeah, just from the description.
Definitely. I mean, look, it's it ultimately
won't want to get the cars in there.
It is a really chilled event.
There will be some, you know, music running in the background
that is period correct.
Yes, we had great fun on a trip back from Adelaide
doing a Magna 40 playlist playlist.
Yeah, we haven't finished it yet, David.
There's still a bit to do.
I think we're up to nineteen ninety five.
Was it? I think. Yeah, 1985 to 1995.
We've done so fast.
So we've got another decade to go.
So that'll that'll be running.
So yeah, it'll be kind of a mismatch of noise on the day.
So you'll have, you know, car maker of the year again,
running over and over and over and over again.
Please consider and all that.
Then you'll have the Tonsley pod running
with all the archive stuff.
And then you'll have, you know, the bangles
in the background.
And yeah, so it'll it'll.
Yeah, I look, I really hope everyone has a great time.
And yeah, it's going to be wonderful to to look back and go, well,
you know, this was just from enthusiasts and
and supportive friends and and partners.
So I'm so excited to come.
My partner's coming. She's she's excited for it.
She's bringing her brother and his kids are coming as well.
Wonderful.
So like, you know, they're they're all coming.
And, you know, like, there's so many people that are like,
I said, my friend, Luke, like, yeah, he's making a trip across just to that's
wonderful, just to come.
So yeah, but speaking of music, you know, I was thinking,
like, with music from that era, we can we can talk about we can replace
the word of the song with the word Magna. Yes.
You know, we can, we can do heaven as a place on Magna.
Yeah. We can do.
I love it.
We can do all these different things that are running in my head.
Like, yeah, just just replace it with Magna.
I've got the Magna's disease disease.
That's good. That's good. That'll work.
So yeah, but speaking of music, for those of you who don't know
on the podcast, you are an incredible musician.
Thank you, man.
An incredible artist.
You and your wife are very, very talented individuals.
If I had that sort of talent with music,
I'd be, I'd be a, I'd be a happier man.
But the Weaving Willows been around for a very long time.
Been doing great things.
I said, you've come here and performed and did things.
You've been all around the world as a musician.
You're born in a guitar.
Yes. And, you know, I'm assuming you're wanting to give us some of those exploits.
Yeah, I thought if it's OK with you guys, I'd do the car quiz tonight.
Slightly different to how you usually do it.
But I hope that it works.
We'll find out.
But basically, I've got 10 questions.
And I'll what I'll do is I'll play snippets from car commercials.
And you have to guess what the car is.
Oh, awesome. Yeah, 100 percent.
Extra points know the song.
Yeah, if some of them are jingles, I'll play a little snippets of.
But if it's actually a song to actually extra point,
I thought for if you know the song as well, how does that sound?
Absolutely. Yeah, amazing.
It sounds like Chad and I are now going to be like punching on.
But it's. Yeah.
So what we'll do is because obviously we're in a bit of a tight studio,
we'll get you to take him like round that way round. OK.
I'll get up the score sheets for those of us at home.
Andrew's brought in this lovely acoustic guitar.
Um, has he got a name?
He's got a name you can tell this one doesn't.
And I feel awful because everything else in my life has name.
That's what I know, it's it's the old hack.
The old hack. Yeah.
So we've got four players tonight, myself, David Prince, Scotty Doe
and the one and only Chad DeBell,
who are battling it out for tonight's obviously bragging rights.
I mean, these are the important questions we need answers.
You want to say?
Yes, the question everyone, the whole world is asking you about.
All right, so we've never done this before.
We've never had a lot in that.
It's pretty cool. You're breaking your ground.
This is a car talk first, isn't it?
Life music on on.
It is on car talk.
It is a car talk first.
And we we're normally very conservative with our without with our quiz.
No, it's through as usually.
But you are an incredible, incredible
musician and an incredible, obviously an incredible human
because because you're because you're organized before you.
Thank you.
But Andrew Wigglesworth, this is your quiz.
Thank you. You're the quiz master.
Please take it away.
Thank you. So as I said, I'm going to play little snippets of a commercial.
I mean, a lot of those car commercials, what they'll do is they'll
like play the intro part to a song, cut out the verse, jump to the chorus.
So I'm going to play a little snippet.
I can if you need, I can play a little bit more.
OK, I can give you some little sort of
sort of pointers if you need in the right direction.
But I'm going to play a little bit.
So this is question number one.
Are you taking so I want to say, can we buzz in or do we wait for you to play the jingle?
Well, that's a good question.
Maybe I mean, what you've done before is you always buzz in.
So how do we do that?
I'll attempt. I'll attempt to listen while I'm playing.
All right.
I don't know anything. OK, you ready?
So this is question number one. OK.
So this is an ad. All right. Here we go.
Matthew, that was in a Hyundai ad.
Yep. Oh, I don't know the name of the song, but I know it's like
I don't know the name of the song, though.
But it's I know where that's from now.
What? So it's a Hyundai ad?
Yep. Half a point.
Half a point.
I don't know the name of the song, though.
But it was it was a 90s commercial.
They had it for their like Excel and sonatas and things.
But I can't remember the name of the song.
OK, so anyone else?
So it's it's it's the Hyundai Excel.
That was the main. Yeah, David's in.
Yeah, David.
I think it's called drive, isn't it?
Incorrect.
You close. You definitely close.
Anyone? Oh, no, it's not called drive.
I know it. No. Yeah.
Sing it. Sing it in your head, David.
Scotty or Chad?
I'm rubbish at this side.
I'm like, I'm yeah, I'm really bad at music.
Scott. Scott.
Right.
Close.
Oh, that's what I thought it was.
Yeah, because I just sung it through my head then.
I was like, yeah.
Doing a play there.
Yeah, that chorus is like, she said that's right.
Ribbit up, ribbit up in the morning.
I don't know the name of the song, but I don't know the name of the song.
So, yeah, so it's should I should I tell you?
Yeah, OK, so we've got it's the Hyundai Excel
from 1994.
It's Revit up by Jerry Harrison.
OK, I wonder.
Well, yeah.
But it was on Gold 104 all the time.
Yeah, it was the Hyundai Excel.
And I think, yeah, they had the Sonata as well.
I think they might have, you know, I remember in a clip,
I remember the Excel being there.
Yeah.
And it's like the whole world spinning.
Like, yeah, I don't know the answer.
And there's like, like horses and stuff around.
And yeah, I remember that because my uncle bought a 95 Excel brand.
Oh, and it's and every time I said, oh, that's that song.
Put the two and two together from the other side.
I was a sick child.
OK, I'll take point five.
Yeah, all right.
So question number two.
All right, so this is another song.
OK, so we need to guess what what ad what car this was car.
This is from.
Oh, yeah.
That's it.
Yeah.
Toyota Corolla.
Yes.
It's got a weird name.
The song does.
Yeah.
It's it's a Toyota Corolla.
It's it's like song 37.
It's like a weird name.
I'll take point five for the for the car.
OK.
Scott's next.
Scott's next.
I'm too blue.
Yeah.
Perfect.
Oh, so he gets the full point of issue because you named the song
and the artist or how should I think what we can do is we can do a point point.
Yeah, a point for the car and a point for the song.
Yeah, we'll go with that.
Is that cool?
Point five each.
Oh, you know, point five each point five each for both components.
Yep.
But each component.
So yeah, did this song as a performance in primary school with
with made like made up fake instruments that we made out of cardboard.
That's impressive.
That's awesome.
Yeah.
It was so cool.
So what Corolla was it?
It was like the.
It's like two.
Two.
So 1999.
Yeah.
Lobby shape.
Yeah.
And for like one year, they had those really round lights and then they then they did
the facelift very quickly because everyone hated them.
So that's yeah.
So question.
Yeah.
So yeah, it's very cool.
Question number three.
This is a tough one.
So I feel like if anyone can get it, you should have a full point because I'm going to.
It's actually not a song.
I'm actually going to play the jingle.
Okay.
This is made for the ad, right?
This was actually this.
This jingle was written specifically for this commercial.
So yeah.
All right.
Here we go.
Thank you.
That's easy.
Hey, child.
Yeah.
What was that?
Wow.
I thought that would be really hard.
I've listened to that numerous times.
My mates got a B.J.
Charger.
Oh, wow.
Should I just play it for you?
Sorry.
This is the actual.
It's actually usually played on a flute.
Yeah.
Key change.
Hey, Charger.
Hey, Charger.
I still to this day think that is the best Australian car out of all time.
Oh, it's incredible.
It's incredible.
That was actually Laura's because I was trying to compile.
So she's like, you should do the Charger out.
I said, well, it's not a flute, but I'll try and work it out.
Do your exploits go to flute usage?
I've got a recorder in.
Yeah.
Bring out the old recorder.
Well done.
Well done, Matty.
I thought that one would be a.
I told you I'm a sick individual.
My wife says I'm autistic and I understand why.
It's stuff like this.
I think she might be on something.
You're a teacher too, Matty.
You know.
Awesome.
All right.
Question number four.
Chad.
Chad got it.
Chad got it.
This is for the VZ SS youth.
Yup.
And it's on the strike by AC.
Well done.
Well done.
Well done, mate.
That was great.
All right.
It's the only one I'm going to get.
I reckon.
Chad's like, Chad!
That was a great add too.
That was great.
That was a great add.
Yeah, yeah.
Good one.
And great song as well.
Great song.
Awesome song.
All right.
So question number five.
All right.
So I'm actually, I might just sing a little bit this as well because it's sort of a hard
one otherwise to hear what it's from.
Okay.
So let's see how it goes.
Yeah.
I can remember the add.
I can't remember the add.
Should I give you a bit of a hint?
I'll complain again.
Can I ask for the era?
Like the decade?
Yep.
So it's 2000s.
Yep.
This is a tough one.
I thought the charger one and this one would be the tricky, yeah.
I can play it again.
Yeah, do it one more time.
Yeah.
Okay.
I want to say, I can give you another hint if you like.
Sure.
European.
It's a European car.
Oh.
They're not Australian.
That one threw me off.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Damn.
That's in me for a six.
Yeah.
So David, you said you remember the add?
I remember the add.
Can I say Peugeot?
Incorrect.
Incorrect.
Definitely obviously European.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's, that's what I thought of.
Is it called still, still having fun?
Yep.
Oh.
Thank you.
What if I get the band?
I know the band.
Oh.
Yeah.
What's the band, Scotty?
Eagle Eye Cherry.
Yep.
It is.
Yeah.
Well done, Scotty.
What do you see in the car?
Got that one on my playlist.
That's a good song, isn't it?
Yeah, it is.
Yeah.
They got a couple good songs actually.
Yeah.
That's Saved Tonight as well.
See.
Yes.
Yeah.
Love that one.
That's Eagle Eye Cherry.
I want to say something really obscure in European.
It's a tough one.
I'm trying to think what else I can say.
Can we go to the country?
possibly.
Germany.
Germany, okay.
Yeah.
As you know, Volkswagen Golf.
Incorrect.
Anyone else want to have a go?
I'm going to say Audi.
Incorrect.
It's a tough one, I know.
I want to go like a Renault Scenic.
Incorrect.
I like the specificity.
That's not the right word.
I like how specific you were, Chad.
You went in specifically Scenic.
They vibe to it.
Should I let the cat out of the bag?
All right.
So it's the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
C-Class, okay.
I remember the ad.
It was on TV a lot at the time.
Is it the one where he was wiping the car?
Yeah.
And then he got this.
Yeah.
Playing in the background.
All the time.
Yeah.
And they're smiling at each other.
And they've just spent like $80,000 on the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
It was the Silver C-Class too.
Yep.
Exactly right.
Whatever is that?
Look, 202.
203.
Yeah, yeah.
So there you go.
That was question four.
So that was question five.
So we'll give a score check because that's the halfway point.
Yep.
Chad won.
David point five.
Scotty won.
And myself on two.
So anybody's game, gentlemen.
Anybody's game.
All right.
Here we go.
So this is a question number six.
Matthew.
Yep.
Poor territory.
Yeah.
Amazing by something weird.
Yep.
Yep.
You've always got it.
What's his name?
You've always got it.
Alex Lloyd.
Alex Lloyd.
Yeah, all right.
Correct.
Well done.
That was a banger of a note.
That's a great ad and great a song.
Yeah.
I'll just quickly play it for you.
It's a really cool.
Beautiful.
Beautiful song.
It's actually a beautiful song.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's such a sweet.
Yeah.
He says, you know,
we were amazing.
We were amazing.
Yeah.
It's a beautiful song.
It's a really cool one.
What happened to him?
There's actually an amazing.
There you go.
Amazing.
There you go.
Australian story.
There's actually an Australian story about Alex Lloyd that came out a couple of weeks
ago.
It's worth the watch.
I'm not going to give it away, but he's been to sort of hell and back.
Okay.
Yeah.
Because he was like, he came out with that song.
Yeah.
It was huge.
Massive.
Huge one.
Yep.
And then all of a sudden, it was just like a life which he was born.
Yep.
If you watch it, it'll all make sense why he disappeared.
Okay.
Yeah.
Question number seven.
Okay.
This one's hard to play on the guitar, but I'll try.
All right.
Did he have this?
Yeah.
Okay.
Here we go.
David.
Yes, David.
It's the Holden Rodeo.
Yes.
And it's, I don't know.
It's the Spanish name of the song, but it was something one tonne, one tonne a man.
Yeah.
Exactly right.
Yeah.
And it's actually a traditional Cuban song.
So I actually find the original writer, but it's been covered so many times over the
years.
Yeah.
That's cool.
Yeah.
I mean, they obviously, they, they change the word to one tonne Rodeo.
Yeah.
One tonne Rodeo.
They sing it all out of tune as well.
Yeah.
Wonderful.
Wonderful.
One tonne Rodeo.
Well done, David.
That was a good one.
This is question number eight.
All right.
Here we go.
Oh, David.
Yes.
And they change the words to courtier.
I did.
Yes.
But the song is called Gloria.
Gloria.
Well done.
Yeah.
Bye.
Bye.
Hmm.
It's another one hit wonder.
So if you can get this one.
Oh, no, that's been harsh.
I'll give them point five.
David.
Who is Laura Brennan?
Yes.
Well done, David.
She was kind of a one hit wonder.
Wasn't she?
She was.
Made you rest in peace.
No longer with her, sadly.
That was pretty brutal.
She was.
All right.
Got a cracker of a song.
It's a great song.
And I mean that whenever, sadly, whenever I hear that song,
the original song,
I'm automatically going courtier.
Yeah.
Courtier.
Rumier.
Okay.
Question number nine.
Okay.
Here we go.
No, I don't know if this is the remake of the original,
but is it a seven nation army?
No.
No.
Correct.
No.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yep.
Oh, of course.
I know the song now.
Come on, Maddie.
Let's go.
Come on.
Do you want to play it again?
What I made of this?
Come on.
Come on.
Oh, of course.
Play it again.
Play it again.
I'll sing it in my head.
Sweet dreams I made of this.
So we've got the song.
We need the car.
Is it not for Halloween?
No.
Incorrect.
I'll take the point five.
Yeah.
Anyone else?
Should I start giving some little...
I can't think of the car.
Okay.
I can't think of the car that came with that song.
Okay.
What about I'll give you the era?
Actually, I'll give you the year.
So it's 2017.
Oh.
Okay.
Yep.
Okay.
I mean, the song came out in the 80s.
Yeah.
But it was reused for this commercial.
Jeez.
I can't recall any late year ads.
Ad even.
Yeah.
That would have that song.
Okay.
Where's Ed?
He's a big...
Yeah.
I was hoping that Ed would be on tonight.
Because I think he would...
He would have done well.
He would have done well.
Okay.
I'll give another little hint.
Well, hopefully a big hint.
A Japanese car.
I can play it again for you.
It's basically on the ad.
They actually just looped that.
David.
Was it Subaru?
No.
Incorrect.
No.
Please tell me it wasn't Honda.
Anyone else?
Scotty.
When did the music come out?
It wasn't that far back, was it?
No.
Okay.
Well, I mean, Earth Dreams are coming to mind from Honda.
So...
Scotty's the one last one left to tell the guess.
I'm going to say Toyota.
Incorrect.
What was it?
Okay.
So, it was the Honda Civic.
Honda Civic?
Oh, shit.
David Prince has got to take off his shirt.
Oh, no.
He's darn easy.
Hang up the keys, mate.
Hopeless.
Hopeless.
So, 2017, David, what model would that be for Honda Civic?
I actually didn't have that written down.
For a point.
For a point.
For a point.
For a point.
For a point of 5.
Point of 5?
10th to 10th 2017.
Okay.
So, the final, the final question.
So, this is, it's not for a car commercial,
it is for an organisation that have cars involved.
Hopefully that, when I play this it makes sense at the moment.
I know it sounds very vague.
Let me just, let me just play it for you and see if
you recognise it.
Oh, that's it.
That's a T-A-C-O. Yes. Oh, yes. Yep. Yep. Yep.
And who's a bi? I know. I know. I know. I know.
I'll let David go in next. Yeah.
For that one.
As soon as he says I'll just, I'll keep on kicking myself because like, I'll take the point five for the name of the zone and the T-A-C-O.
I don't, I don't know who you are. David?
Is it R-E-M? Yep. Correct.
Mmm, probably was. Yeah. Thank you, gentlemen. That concludes the car quiz.
That is brilliant. That's very good. Very, very cool, Andrew.
We're like, creative way of doing that. Yeah.
I wonder what he's going to do for us next week.
That was a lot of fun. We've actually put it together.
And to, to find commercial, there's so many great car commercials,
but try to find a way of just being able to play it on the acoustic.
A lot of them just didn't work. So I'd sort of go back to the drawing board and go, cool.
Well, this one works like some of them are no-brainers.
Like the song. Yeah. Amazing. Yeah. Easy to do.
The blur one, that's played on guitar.
The Hyundai XL one was great fun because that's actually played on an electric guitar,
thumb destruction thing, but some of the other ones like the Rodeo one was really hard.
Didn't have Maraca's handy. No, I didn't know.
So it was actually a lot of fun to do it.
Next, next one, next podcast. Yeah, yeah.
But thanks for letting me do that. I've actually always wanted to do that.
Oh, brilliant. So thank you.
That's awesome.
So who won? We're all winners.
So score check Chad and Scotty are on one.
David on one, two, three.
Myself on one, two, three, four, five.
I would like to thank Alex Lloyd.
I'd like to thank all the car companies involved.
But most of all, I'd like to thank you, Andrew,
because that was arguably the best quiz we've ever had.
Oh, thank you. Absolutely.
And we've had some crackers.
Yeah, you've had some amazing ones.
But bringing the guitar in and having you go, oh, brilliant.
So honestly, mate, you're a star.
Big honor for me to do it. So thank you. Thanks, guys.
I'll have to get my all piano books out and start learning again.
I've got to be able to top you somehow.
Cause like all my quizzes are going to suck down.
You're just going to rock up the triangle.
It's the song. It's the song, guys.
You'll just hear David like, bring back.
But that was a good time.
That was a good laugh.
So thanks so much, guys.
I really appreciate you letting me come in and I'm sorry.
I sort of took over the podcast to all things Magnus,
but really appreciate all your support.
And I mean, I genuinely mean this.
I listen to the podcast every single week.
So it's a real highlight of the morning and afternoon for me,
driving to work, driving home.
But a bad day.
I put the podcast on and listen to you guys.
It's always fun. So thank you.
Yeah, it's really kind, man.
I mean, yeah, it's like we just do this and it's, you know,
it's a bit of a, you know, just killing time on a Tuesday night.
Yeah, but it's just so genuine.
Well, that's the thing.
I think it's clear to the listeners that you guys are just great
mates that just talk cars and all the knowledge that you've all got.
I mean, I've learned so much.
I mean, my knowledge of cars is very, very specific to
Magnus and Camry's basically.
So I've, yeah, the amount of like the learning curve for me has been amazing.
So yeah, it's, you know, it's people like you.
We do the show.
I mean, the idea behind the whole premise behind the show.
And when Scotty and I became good mates at work,
because we just on our shift, we do no work and talk cars.
And that was pretty much the extent.
You'd be, you'd be actually doing the work and what was it?
The closing routine and you'd be fixing everything and up and I'm just
following you around talking crap.
I don't know what I was meant to be doing.
I can't remember what my job was.
Managing or doing something.
I don't know, but I'm just too busy talking to Matt while he's fixing up
the whole book area or whatever he might be and just talking.
It's stuff like that.
And like, I talked to like other mates who've been on the show who have
families and they can't come on Tuesdays like good friends of Adam and
and Grasso and James and like you trendset it on the show.
Even, I mean, Alam's a big, big part of the reason why the show exists.
Because we'd be catching up for like, you know, for a drink or something
and going out for dinner and we'd be just hours just talking about it.
It's just wonderful.
Why don't we actually just record us doing it?
Yeah, absolutely.
And our first episode was horrific because we're like, OK, we've got to be
structured, we've got to do this, we've got to do that.
I think finding the balance of just like, you know what, let's just be ourselves
and just talk.
Absolutely.
You know, we've got our basic, you know, updates and the topic and our quiz
but like, it's just still us just mainly talking.
Yeah, absolutely.
And if people want us into that, like that's...
But people do.
People do.
That's the fantastic thing.
So, yeah, keep it up.
It's just amazing.
Love to have you back, Andrew.
Oh, you look great.
I'll start working on the car quiz.
Can you please bring in a triangle for Scott?
Yes, I will.
All right, Scott, it's all for you.
No, but Andrew, we'll have to get you back on.
We'll have to do a Magna 40th recap.
Yeah, absolutely.
I think they'd be great.
Post Magna 40th, I think that'll...
I don't want to talk about it until then.
I think that'd be really cool.
I was even thinking of like, bring like, we just want to record them
and just recording some parts of the event.
Yeah, brilliant.
And just walk around.
Hey, Andrew, you know, and just add it into like a special...
Do a little special podcast.
Sounds good.
Which would be fun for the day.
But mate, thank you so much for taking the time out.
No problem.
Yeah, for coming out this way.
Well, dude.
Thanks for listening to the show.
Yeah, I love it.
It's pretty much you and my mum.
No, I'm kidding.
No, but honestly, it's...
I'm glad to have helped you on this journey with Magna 40th.
And I'm so honored that you'd ask us to be part of it.
Yeah, it's going to be wonderful.
And it's been a great process so far.
Well, it's all up in here.
It's a business end.
Again, just like...
I mean, I'm not...
I think, you know, I'm not going to step on David's wisdom here,
but just enjoy it.
Yeah.
I know you've been running around,
but just take a step back and be like...
Soak it in.
Yeah, absolutely.
So, I think that's a big thing.
Thank you.
But anyway, I think that's a podcast.
Yeah, yeah.
Let's give some plugs.
Do you have any plugs?
Obviously, Magna 40th, so 18th of October.
So, yeah, so it's Saturday the 18th of October at Tonsley Park.
It's the Tonsley Innovation District.
If you type that in, it'll come up on the Google Maps and all that stuff.
Obviously, it's in South Australia.
And, yeah, we're basically...
The actual show is kicking off at 10 o'clock,
and we'll be there until 1.30, probably a little bit after.
But cars will start rolling in from 9 o'clock.
And, you know, all us boys are going to be there.
So you can come and say hi.
But also, if you see Andrew, please thank him for his efforts,
because it's a mammoth task.
And, you know, you deserve all the thanks you get for it,
because it's really put the light on for this car.
Thank you.
It's great.
Appreciate it.
I honestly can't wait.
I think Steph's just had enough of me talking about Magna 40th over the past month.
Sorry.
But it'll be great looking forward to it.
So, yeah, plugs for your music as well,
because you're an incredible musician.
Like, people just heard you play some incredible music.
Oh, yeah.
We have...
We can go to theweepingwellows.com.au.
And it's got gig guide and videos and free music.
That's the case these days on the Spotify and all that sort of stuff.
So, yeah.
Are there still tickets available for November, Andrew?
Yes.
We do have a...
These days, Sally don't do many Melbourne shows.
We used to play five or six nights a week.
But we've got a rare Melbourne show at Chapel Off Chapel.
So, it's November the 24th.
Tomorrow's, as you know, payday for us.
Oh, right, yeah.
So, I've got to buy my ticket tomorrow.
So, that'll be great.
Thank you.
David's wisdom.
I've got to...
I've got to pull this tonight.
I think when we've talked a bit about it tonight,
you need to celebrate life.
And you need to celebrate your friends.
And I'd like to wish Maddie, Jay, a very happy birthday for tomorrow.
Thank you, mate.
Happy birthday.
Cheers for that.
Yes.
Thank you.
Thank you.
That's all I've got.
34 years young.
Oh, yes.
My 34th trip around the sun.
So, it's funny.
Steph gave me a box last night of little gifts and stuff.
And she's like, I know you'll be too...
Pre-birthday presents, that's cool.
She's like, I know you'll be too busy tonight and tomorrow I'm at work.
And then, her and Pam have got this...
They watched this show.
It's called...
Somewhere I Turned Pretty So...
So, she's like, we won't be doing anything until it's finished.
So, she's like, just want to get this in now?
Before...
Before it's over?
I'm like, okay.
Can I talk to her about that show?
I watch it too.
Yeah, by all means.
I've got sucked into it.
I've watched it.
And I'm waiting for the last episode.
It's tomorrow.
It's honestly...
I can't deny.
I was like, what is this crap?
And then I'd be like, so who's the one that cheated?
And now I'm hashtag Tim Conrad.
It's all about Conrad.
But yeah, it's quite the funny show.
But I will be making sure I will be out doing something at that point.
But thank you, David.
That's really good.
Thank you, gentlemen, for the birthday wishes.
No problem.
Chad's Deliveries, delivering to a place near you.
I'll make sure it gets there or something.
Chad's T-shirts.
If you've got a transmission, please let us know.
If you've got a transmission for a TS magna locally in Melbourne, that'd be great.
I'm taking all applicants and yeah, we'll make it work or something.
We're going to talk about getting your parts.
So, we'll get that done.
Scotty's Golf Tip of the Week.
I don't have a Golf Tip of the Week today.
I just want to say thank you to Andrew for coming on to the show.
No problem.
So, it was awesome.
The quiz was awesome.
And just, that would be given an event that he's put together for, not for just Mitsubishi car event,
but something so specific.
Because you were talking about, you know, you have all four day.
Of course, that's going to be big.
That's a lot of cars.
Yeah.
You know, but you don't have things like an all Falcon day or anything like that.
So, to have something like an all magnet day that everybody can relate to.
And I don't ever really consider it as, you know, a super expensive car.
But when you see one and you see it nice and clean and original,
it just sparks something in any person that's into cars can relate to that.
And I think that's what's drawn in so many people.
Yeah.
It's called passion.
And that's what we all have.
That's why we do this.
Absolutely.
So, you've even infiltrated his Golf Tip of the Week.
Oh, wow.
No.
Well done.
That's rare.
Not even Alam's allowed to.
Well, I'll put it this way.
When Alam took over for one week, Scotty was pissed.
I was listening to that in the car this morning actually.
And I was laughing.
I was laughing.
That was great.
He was like, no, it's bullshit.
Yeah.
It was very funny.
It was funny.

He knows.

Here we go.
Andrew, we're taking a seat.
Wow.
