[SPEAKER_01]: So for people that don't know you yet, just bring me back a little bit.

[SPEAKER_01]: Tell me who is Josh Williams.

[SPEAKER_00]: Man, short little fat ball guy at a Colorado, you know, it's funny you ever seen the movie Twins with Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

[SPEAKER_00]: Of course.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, man.

[SPEAKER_00]: My brothers are both like 5 11 6 foot with a full head of hair and then they're then I came out, bro, and I'm like, yo dad, what's up, man?

[SPEAKER_00]: So that's been my go to for the longest time is the Danny DeVito of my family, but [SPEAKER_00]: Man, it grew up in Colorado, you know, I married to my beautiful wife, Trisha, we've got four beautiful daughters, just, you know, grew a family, you stayed in Colorado, haven't left, whole life has been here in a round, you know, basically what we do here in the 303.

[SPEAKER_00]: So that's it.

[SPEAKER_01]: All right.

[SPEAKER_01]: So let's talk about the 303.

[SPEAKER_01]: What was life like kind of growing up in Denver?

[SPEAKER_00]: It's so different compared to where it's that right now.

[SPEAKER_00]: I was looking back at a picture that was posted.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was in the 80s.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a 76 case when I was born.

[SPEAKER_00]: I just turned the big 50.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm looking at this picture the other day of Denver.

[SPEAKER_00]: We used to have Stapleton Airport where the planes would go across the highway.

[SPEAKER_00]: You could literally see him landing, you could go down there hangout.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was just not as much as the, you know, hustle and bustle that it is today.

[SPEAKER_00]: Growing up in Colorado was phenomenal.

[SPEAKER_00]: Think about it.

[SPEAKER_00]: You have everything but the ocean, which is a downfall.

[SPEAKER_00]: But [SPEAKER_00]: It I could go ski or you know I was a snowboarder so I snowboarded but if I want to go snowboard you could skate in the same day You know you have every activity you could ever want the weather is phenomenal I think we're one of the sunnyest states in the in the nation so growing up in Colorado [SPEAKER_00]: was freaking awesome.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was there.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if it could be any better than it was.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I love that.

[SPEAKER_01]: Colorado is probably second home for me.

[SPEAKER_01]: You know, nine years.

[SPEAKER_01]: I spent out there.

[SPEAKER_01]: Colorado Springs, Canyon City, Florence, Area.

[SPEAKER_01]: uh... had to my kids out there i've got a whole life and memories out there my sister lives in Denver she's got a company out there my mom's out in cold creek which is attached to can you right next to can you see the uh... man i've just got a whole history out there i've been but been frequenting you know every summer i'd come out

[SPEAKER_01]: uh... to to that area and hit the you know skyline drive and the royal gorge bridge and just all that fun stuff and you know just growing up there man i got so many memories myself so as you talk about some of that stuff i'm like yeah man i got some of those memories too and i'm gonna agree with you i think colorado was probably one of my favorite states outside of where i'm at where i'm born and raised let's talk about cars though when the cars become more than well i don't know just cars for you

[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it was, you know, I got two older brothers and, you know, I remember having a fiat spider broken down on the side of my house that never did run, but it was always the thing that, you know, my brothers like, hey, we're going to get this thing up and run and we're going to go, uh, and then, you know, my other brother, his first car was a Baja red Baja bug.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was legit.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was first rap song I ever heard was in that, in that bug, you know, and that, that would be the topic.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh man, it was very close.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was too short fight to fill in.

[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, God.

[SPEAKER_00]: Can I ask you a question question?

[SPEAKER_00]: I'll leave it at that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, that was uh, it was just grown up in the 80s out there, the cars with thing.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then, you know, my dad had a car club on that he grew up on the north side of Denver.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you come out the Denver now, you've got like seven different names for the north side, but we're here and we're old geez and we're like, [SPEAKER_00]: It's Northside Denver.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's where it's at, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: And so, you know, my dad had a car club down there.

[SPEAKER_00]: So he was always kind of big into the car scene.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so, you know, cars were always a part of the life.

[SPEAKER_00]: they weren't big in it until I really started to I got behind the wheel and it's funny one of my first cars was a Volkswagen quantum most people are like what what is a quantum and you know it's just basically to me it was like a luxury jet a man and when I pimped that thing out and going to the park on Sundays with my house speaker in the trunk that's what it became that's when it became real man is you're going to the park [SPEAKER_00]: You've got, you know, it's 90s.

[SPEAKER_00]: So it's all hip hop.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's gangster rap, all this stuff, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: And we're down on, you know, going to Berkeley Park or going to Pepsi or these different parks that we cruise.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you're watching all these phenomenal cars back then.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of low riders, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: Low riders rolling through big systems.

[SPEAKER_00]: Men and...

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it just it got me like that's where I was like, okay, this is this is stuff.

[SPEAKER_00]: I want I always want to have nice cars.

[SPEAKER_00]: I always wanted to do cool stuff with cars and that that seeing Sunday afternoon parts man through high school is what really triggered it all for me.

[SPEAKER_01]: What kind of kid were you though?

[SPEAKER_01]: Were you always into like, you know, build in things or did that maybe come later in your life?

[SPEAKER_00]: It definitely came later in life.

[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, as a kid, I mean, you know, we were big athletes in my family.

[SPEAKER_00]: So we all loved to play a ton of sports.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, the only thing that we built was teens and, you know, culture within the teens and, you know, good friendships and that type of stuff.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, that is the things that we really focused on, [SPEAKER_00]: I guess molded us as as kids is how tight knit my community was and the things that we did, but it was all through sports and those types of things.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, never was it.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to build a car.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was just like, hey, how do we build great friendships, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: It's funny.

[SPEAKER_00]: I said to this day, you know, I coach with my best friends since we were five years old.

[SPEAKER_00]: We coach a high school baseball team together.

[SPEAKER_00]: And [SPEAKER_00]: You know, one of my other, one of my other best friends since kindergarten, we coach softball together.

[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, these are what we built was just relationships.

[SPEAKER_00]: Man, that was our focus.

[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't so much, hey, let's go build a car.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was like, hey, we want long lasting friendships.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what we did.

[SPEAKER_01]: You got this kind of, this essence, this vibe of this like kind of builder of communities.

[SPEAKER_01]: Was that always there for you, even through your childhood?

[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think it was, yeah, I mean, I was never like, I was never like, pick you like, I'm gonna go hang with this crew.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna go hang with this crew.

[SPEAKER_00]: Every once a while, I found myself hanging out with some people more than others.

[SPEAKER_00]: But we were all very, we invited everybody in, man.

[SPEAKER_00]: We didn't care who you were, where you came from, none of us came from money back then.

[SPEAKER_00]: So it was like, we didn't care what your status was.

[SPEAKER_00]: We just wanted to be homies.

[SPEAKER_00]: Do we like the same things?

[SPEAKER_00]: And if it was, and we wouldn't create it, and we hung out with each other.

[SPEAKER_01]: Sweet.

[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about 303 Dubs for a second then.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it didn't really start like a typical car club starts right it started for your your your dad kind of walked me through that moment, you know, when this kind of came to fruition for you.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm asking my dad that diagnosed with a kind of.

[SPEAKER_00]: The different skin cancer, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So it was actually in his mouth.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so it was under his tongue and see how to remove part of his tongue.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so like then we didn't know how long we were gonna have him.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, you know, I love my Volkswagen.

[SPEAKER_00]: I got this dope 71 Volkswagen.

[SPEAKER_00]: I've got friends in the Volkswagen scene.

[SPEAKER_00]: We've always been around the Volkswagen scene since we were in high school.

[SPEAKER_00]: So I was like, you know, [SPEAKER_00]: let's start a club that you know because and it was all based on my dad ran uh... the malteseman back in the in the sixties in north Denver that's was that was the name of his car club and so i was like okay so our original og uh... logo was the maltese cross uh... and it and it had the vw in the middle and that's had three or three dubs

[SPEAKER_00]: And it was all just for my dad.

[SPEAKER_00]: I want to make my dad happy man.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he's been a phenomenal guy in my life a big role model.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's been around for all of it and I was like how do I bring a smile to his face and three or three dubs is that's where it all came from.

[SPEAKER_00]: That is right there.

[SPEAKER_00]: Just trying to make take take a little bit off my dad's shoulder and put a smile on his face.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's still with us, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: He is.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: So he literally got diagnosed with cancer.

[SPEAKER_00]: Almost lost him about a month and a half ago he spent almost 40 days in the VA and finally just got home out of the VA a couple of weeks ago, and it was we thought we had lost him a few times, but that man is a fighter.

[SPEAKER_00]: He is a pit of me of what you call a north side Denver, the guy fights, he's not ready to go.

[SPEAKER_00]: He loves life so much that he's like, hey, I'm here, I'll go when I'm ready, and it's not now.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's awesome, man.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's awesome.

[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about that first barbecue, you know, what what really happened versus what was expected.

[SPEAKER_00]: And what was expected was we had no idea, man.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're like, hey, we're going to let's throw this barbecue out to the Volkswagen community.

[SPEAKER_00]: So my boy, we'll talk about him later.

[SPEAKER_00]: But my homie Troy, who I've known since I came out of the womb, had just got his ride.

[SPEAKER_00]: I had my mind.

[SPEAKER_00]: We had went to his show, it was cool.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're like, let's do something.

[SPEAKER_00]: We started three or three dubs, like, let's do an end of the year barbecue.

[SPEAKER_00]: And this year was unusually warm in the state of Colorado.

[SPEAKER_00]: So this is in November that we're running a barbecue.

[SPEAKER_00]: I threw it out there on the Volkswagen enthusiast page of Colorado, and I didn't know anything else.

[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know the scene.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, where are the places to put it out there?

[SPEAKER_00]: We thought maybe five cars would roll through, they just kept showing up, they just kept coming in.

[SPEAKER_00]: Next thing, you know, my neighbor's like, yo, you want to use my driveway because you ran out of room in yours.

[SPEAKER_00]: My neighbor's across the street and like, hey, you can park some cars over here if you want.

[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think maybe we knew five people, that's how cool the community is, man, is that they just rally and they came out.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like we're going to go grow something right now and you know, she's been with me through my skate shops and every business I've done and she knows that look in my face when it comes in there.

[SPEAKER_00]: She saw the glow, she saw the excitement and it was on at that point.

[SPEAKER_00]: That I saw that there was a need obviously for cool things to happen.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what it happened and [SPEAKER_00]: You know, the previous years of the Volkswagen scene, because I had been out of it a little bit, but it brought excitement.

[SPEAKER_00]: Everyone there was excited.

[SPEAKER_00]: Everyone there was getting together, having conversations.

[SPEAKER_00]: The parking was cool.

[SPEAKER_00]: The pictures were cool.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm throwing my freaking drone up there.

[SPEAKER_00]: Just looking at shit.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was just such an environment that I was like, I want more of it.

[SPEAKER_00]: The first of having more of that is what hit.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hell yes, so let's go back to beginning like who are some of the most early, I guess believers that really, you know, linked with you and really help you push this thing forward.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, well, let's talk about Troy Breeze because that's my guy right there, man.

[SPEAKER_00]: I tried to buy a Volkswagen, I think it was a 67 or 66 from Troy, like probably eight years previous to that.

[SPEAKER_00]: That freaking dude sold that shit at a garage sale, and I was so pissed that he did not sell that to me.

[SPEAKER_00]: you got to remember Troy was my next door neighbor he was actually best friends with my older brothers but my brothers had moved and me and Troy just kind of saying touch and now this is one of my best friends right but he got his ride um and I was like dude you got to get ride we're going to start this club up we're going to do it for my dad he's obviously known my dad his whole life and he was all in it was no questions man it was just like yeah let's let's [SPEAKER_00]: What can do this?

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited to make it happen.

[SPEAKER_00]: So from the gigo, Troy has been my right or die guy in by me, you know, challenged me, brought new ideas, all the things that you need in order to get things going.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then we went to a car's in coffee of all places.

[SPEAKER_00]: I met this guy named Brandon Oki.

[SPEAKER_00]: And Brandon is this animated Hawaiian dude owns this, you know, low how windows, and he's freaking like talking and I'm like, I'm a sales guy.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is a sales guy talking.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like, [SPEAKER_00]: Can we, can we coexist, you know?

[SPEAKER_00]: He's one of my best friends today.

[SPEAKER_00]: We hang out and talk all the time.

[SPEAKER_00]: Matter of fact, I'm in his office right now doing this podcast.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, I'm glad and thought and he was like, bro, I want to be in.

[SPEAKER_00]: I want to be part of this, you know, Brandon's history and stories of car clubs and bikes and stuff.

[SPEAKER_00]: So he was like, I'm in.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then it just kind of grew from there.

[SPEAKER_00]: So then our next guy and was Jaime Acosta and [SPEAKER_00]: we'll just leave it at that.

[SPEAKER_00]: If what the belief was in got things rolling, but I do have to get one or shout out as we move on.

[SPEAKER_00]: He is one of the most genuine, incredible human beings I've ever met in my life.

[SPEAKER_00]: literally is what took it to another level because he's very respected human being he also was a guy who came from basically nothing and you know waiting grew a dynasty and what he's doing with his is plumbing company but it's him it's not his cars man although he's got some dope ass cars show his cars are freaking cool as shit but [SPEAKER_00]: He is just a phenomenal person.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he's one of those people that everybody wants to be around.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what we want to have within 303 Dubs is that community.

[SPEAKER_00]: And he just took it to the next level and we've ran with it since then.

[SPEAKER_01]: Now, you guys are from what I gathered, kind of, it seems like you're selective, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: And that's, you know, sometimes in the car scene that can be rare.

[SPEAKER_01]: Why is that important for you guys to be selective?

[SPEAKER_00]: It's culture is everything, man.

[SPEAKER_00]: You've ran companies, you've been part of leadership teams.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you have a bad culture, it can kill everything super quick.

[SPEAKER_00]: And we are selected because we want to make sure that people fit our culture.

[SPEAKER_00]: We want to make, I mean, we're just an air cooled club, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So we don't, we don't have the water cooled, we don't have other stuff or a Volkswagen air cooled club.

[SPEAKER_00]: You got to fit that culture to start with.

[SPEAKER_00]: You've got to be freaking cool in not in like, hey, I'm the one of the cool guys on the block, but in like, hey, there's no drama like I can let things slide off my shoulders if there's a comment said and hey, I can go address those things if there's a comment said without filling some sort of way about it.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you can't be no drama, if you can't be kind of, you know, on the cool side of things, if you don't have a Volkswagen, then you're just, you're not a good fit for us.

[SPEAKER_00]: Doesn't mean you're not a good fit for somebody else.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's just not for 303 dubs.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I like it.

[SPEAKER_01]: So from a leadership perspective, how do you protect a culture without the feeling becoming exclusive, right, in a bad way?

[SPEAKER_01]: Because sometimes that can happen in a culture, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: It can become exclusive in a bad way.

[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I think the biggest key I think is making it selective, but not like no one can be in.

[SPEAKER_00]: We will invite anybody, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So if they're fitting within the culture, so it's not like we're like, no, we're done.

[SPEAKER_00]: Nobody else gets in.

[SPEAKER_00]: Screw everybody else.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is where we're at.

[SPEAKER_00]: and we're inviting we want a community we want this club to grow we want it to be strong but we do have to put rules down sometimes we we did not bring a guy in because he was super drama man in this funny I've got text messages from him saying hey I'm not about that drama about you know community and family and [SPEAKER_00]: bro, it couldn't have been different than where it was.

[SPEAKER_00]: But the way we protected it is we have people come hang out with us as a crew before we just pull the trigger and say, yeah, you're in, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So everybody has an opportunity to come hang out with three or three dubs.

[SPEAKER_00]: do you fit?

[SPEAKER_00]: Do you like us?

[SPEAKER_00]: You may not like us, man.

[SPEAKER_00]: We might be too much for you.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, but everybody gets that opportunity and that's how we protect it is by just setting.

[SPEAKER_01]: now you mentioned something a second ago you said no no drama right now what I read in your back story was no drama is like one of the core values of of three or three doves how do you guys actually enforce the no drama you just it's a it's a it's a no you know I might we're not taking it policy [SPEAKER_00]: That's it.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's a conversation that has had when they come into the club.

[SPEAKER_00]: So anybody that comes in the club for one of the first things that a conversation I have is listen, we are a no freaking drama club.

[SPEAKER_00]: So if you like the spill of tea, if you like to go do the gossip, BS, all that stuff, then we're just probably not a good fit for you.

[SPEAKER_00]: We will talk shit to each other.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're growing as men.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to talk shit all day.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's something we do.

[SPEAKER_00]: Right?

[SPEAKER_00]: if you can't handle that, we're also not in good club for you because we will talk a lot of smack.

[SPEAKER_01]: never go to bed angry right i'm sure you've heard that caught that said before same thing in a map don't go to the don't go to the next day angry somebody's go handle your shit so what do you think from a leadership perspective what do you think kills most car clubs from the inside [SPEAKER_00]: What we just spoke about man is the drama the guys not being able to handle, you know, a little little trash talk guys, you know, getting taken stuff personal.

[SPEAKER_00]: We are growing ass man having fun driving cool cars.

[SPEAKER_00]: How can it be any worse than, like, I mean, it could be a lot of ways worse than that.

[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't get much better than that, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So I think what people have to do is remove themselves from, like, your car is better than my car.

[SPEAKER_00]: You didn't, but why don't we just go have fun?

[SPEAKER_00]: We're driving some of the coolest cars that are on the fricking road today.

[SPEAKER_00]: Everyone has a story about a Volkswagen.

[SPEAKER_01]: In my professional life, it reminds me of how I have to craft and shape technicians a lot of times out there in the world because one of the first, you know, ways I start my training sessions is I ask people especially people of, you know, that have never trained with me before are you coachable.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's a very basic question.

[SPEAKER_01]: Are you coachable?

[SPEAKER_01]: Are you trainable?

[SPEAKER_01]: And then they say yes.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I say, okay, if you're coachable, then tell me what, but being coachable really means to you.

[SPEAKER_01]: And then I get there, you know, they're their answer.

[SPEAKER_01]: And then the first time I try to either reprimand or, you know, draw the line in the sand and say, okay, you said you were coachable.

[SPEAKER_01]: Here's this.

[SPEAKER_01]: What you hear back a lot of times from guys, [SPEAKER_01]: This is, oh, try that, no, did that, did this too.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.

[SPEAKER_01]: And every time you bring something up to him or you say something, they've already done it or tried it.

[SPEAKER_01]: You're like, dude.

[SPEAKER_01]: I can't help you.

[SPEAKER_01]: If you can't let me help you, you fucking, you're finishing my sentence before I even have a chance to, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, so I kind of can, can envision that, you know, being inside of drama, inside of guys, inside of car clubs.

[SPEAKER_01]: We got 150, 250, 300 cars that show up at some of our shows.

[SPEAKER_01]: Hate that it's there in, in, in some regard.

[SPEAKER_01]: But bro, that's just life in general.

[SPEAKER_01]: You're either coachable or you're not.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, you know what I mean?

[SPEAKER_01]: You're either, but that's been said it any better right there.

[SPEAKER_00]: That was, that's on point.

[SPEAKER_00]: And, and you know, people don't think about those things when it comes to like, [SPEAKER_00]: the car club scene right they you know they think about it in in the business world but at the end of the day we're an organization of men and women that come together that have slight interest in love stuff every once in a while there's going to be some people that are going to say some stupid that's going to offend somebody else.

[SPEAKER_00]: How do you get, are you coachable to learn how not to do that and the movie forward?

[SPEAKER_00]: And are you coachable to let shit go?

[SPEAKER_00]: Can you let shit go?

[SPEAKER_00]: And my wife tells me all the time, she gets pissed at me because I'm over the fight and she hasn't even like processed it yet, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: And so it's like, hey, I'm done or we good.

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, when guys get into altercations and car shows or whatever, I'm like, I'm good, are you good?

[SPEAKER_01]: Let's touch on loyalty.

[SPEAKER_01]: What does loyalty look like in your world?

[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the biggest thing to me being loyal is it's not even just like being part of three or three and staying part of three or three, being loyal is being true to who you are so that you're true to everyone else around you, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: And so if you're not in the background, yapping, talking smack, creating all this drama, then you're being loyal to yourself, and you also are being loyal to those around you because you're not creating what could turn into the biggest drama.

[SPEAKER_00]: So loyalty is truly, truly having your people's back, truly being embraced and what the vision is and what the goal is to move forward.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's all of those things embrace.

[SPEAKER_00]: You don't even have to be part of 303 to have that loyalty.

[SPEAKER_00]: You could just be that as a person, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: We got one guy that has, he just doesn't want to do the club thing.

[SPEAKER_00]: But duty is actually pretty freaking loyal to us as a club.

[SPEAKER_00]: He just doesn't want to do the club thing, and that's okay, but he's still a loyal guy.

[SPEAKER_00]: and I just ran with it and then I got Troy involved.

[SPEAKER_01]: People know red rocks all over the world for a concert venue.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's like a chining garden of the gods, [SPEAKER_01]: What's that like, bro, to experience a ride or, you know, a poker runner or a cruise through an area like that, like, describe the experience.

[SPEAKER_00]: Watching it go from a thought to actually happening and watching all of those Volkswagen's those 40 plus Volkswagen's run through the tunnel of this big rock that they come through to come up and circle around to go into the parking lot.

[SPEAKER_00]: it's just like it's it's some in some ways it's almost undiscribable because the feeling was so cool was like bro we we freaking that right there it melded like we could not have another stop but that stop right there is the shit then they all go park and you can oversee all of them right and [SPEAKER_00]: It was just a phenomenal spot.

[SPEAKER_00]: There was plenty of room.

[SPEAKER_00]: We had our table set up for everyone to go get their cards and do their things.

[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but the, it wasn't only Mile High, it was where we were at at Mile High.

[SPEAKER_00]: I have no idea.

[SPEAKER_00]: They freaking rallied and put us in this back space, which, it just completed the entire cruise.

[SPEAKER_00]: uh... in his plumbing company step plumbing win a hand said hey josh i like what we're doing i like that we're given away three hundred uh... i think was one fifty and seventy five for the first second third best hands he was i'm gonna up it because i want to give away five hundred for the first hand three hundred for the second hand and a hundred for the third and i was out of his own pocket so

[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was a legendary start for what's going to be turned into an annual thing for the three or three depths poker crews.

[SPEAKER_01]: What's the, what's the vision here for the, for the Dubfest?

[SPEAKER_00]: All right, so I got to get props to desert dubs down the A.

[SPEAKER_00]: In February, we, some of us as a crew went down to desert dubs.

[SPEAKER_00]: And again, talk about one of my wife's not early with my, my glow.

[SPEAKER_00]: I saw what they did and I saw the vision of just an air cooled.

[SPEAKER_00]: show that we have not had in Colorado.

[SPEAKER_00]: We've had VW shows, but watercooled aircooled others.

[SPEAKER_00]: I wanted to do just an aircooled show pretty much replicating what those guys I feel like perfected down there.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so that's that's where it came from.

[SPEAKER_00]: And Denver Duffess is going to be [SPEAKER_00]: one of the coolest freaking shows that I feel like Colorado's ever had when it comes to air cooled Volkswagen's.

[SPEAKER_00]: Again, we're back underneath the Colfax Viaduct at my high.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's where we're at.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's where the show is going to be.

[SPEAKER_00]: We've got phenomenal people.

[SPEAKER_00]: So like we met some guys down at Desert Dumpfest, Wolfburg Society at a California, one of the coolest clubs out there.

[SPEAKER_00]: They've already hit me up like, hey Josh, I'm [SPEAKER_00]: we're going to try our best to get out there.

[SPEAKER_00]: We love it.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're looking at playing tickets.

[SPEAKER_00]: The guy from Bulk's Life.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure you've seen, if you're in the Volkswagen scene, you've seen Bulk's Life.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, he's already booked his tickets.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's coming out with his wife and one of those models.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're excited to have those guys come up.

[SPEAKER_00]: These are things that we just haven't had.

[SPEAKER_00]: in the Colorado scene ever, and we're bringing people from out of state.

[SPEAKER_00]: I've got people from Wyoming, I've got people from New Mexico, and Korea, and I just posted this shit three weeks ago.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I've got all of these people reaching out to me.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, again, I think it's something that people want.

[SPEAKER_00]: They want different things.

[SPEAKER_00]: They want to see something that's really cool and they're just jumping on, man.

[SPEAKER_01]: yeah well that's it's it's Denver it's it's it's culture it's rich it's you know it's like yeah and you you're doing it right you got some big names involved uh you know you get you know as we would know it as like kind of street cred from having you know some big some big names and some people that will just share a post or whatever or even associate themselves with it.

[SPEAKER_01]: donate some shit you know helps sponsor you a bit you know i mean through those are big you know we have decent outcomes you know down here in uh in florida for some of our rides some of our car shows v-dubs on the pier v-dubs over the skyway i can feel you know the ambiance of what you're describing because i know what it feels like to be the lead car with four hundred and forty cars behind me of a line that stretches over two and a half miles long [SPEAKER_01]: you know, it takes 35 minutes to pull into a parking lot.

[SPEAKER_01]: They're shows everywhere.

[SPEAKER_01]: They're, they're, I mean, everywhere.

[SPEAKER_01]: And, and that's cool, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: So it's kind of like we're getting our own little, little, kind of slice of the pie.

[SPEAKER_01]: And there's enough to go around.

[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, shit.

[SPEAKER_01]: Our products are really, are really big.

[SPEAKER_01]: But it's a direction that we want to go in, and I think as our rides and our some of our events, our car shows continue to grow, I see that happening as this podcast continues to grow.

[SPEAKER_01]: I see some bigger names stepping in and wanting to be part of it, so I think that's pretty cool.

[SPEAKER_01]: But for you, let's let's talk on these bigger names.

[SPEAKER_01]: These more kind of established company slash groups.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, man.

[SPEAKER_01]: I guess how's it feel?

[SPEAKER_01]: Do you feel like you're doing things the right way when you're getting backing and support from some of these big names?

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, so I'm going to grab this real quick.

[SPEAKER_00]: This was, we were down at Desert Up Fest, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: And Chris from Driven's 60 comes over and he goes, hey man, this is the first year we've done this award.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's just, we're going to give it to either a club or somebody that just embraces what we're trying to accomplish in this scene and he goes, I want to give this to you guys at three or three dobs.

[SPEAKER_00]: You guys came down here.

[SPEAKER_00]: You guys represented, you brought a good, just like, you know, attitude, you know, we talked about earlier and I want to give you this award and he gave us this and it's there inaugural one they've been around for five years they did it we are new to the scene we just started our club in August of 2025 and for us to get that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Tells me that we're doing something right and it's maybe it's just the who we are as people on what kind of culture we're bringing in and an ambiance that we have But because of that we're able to have these conversations with these great people that are established So we're able to talk to Chris Davern and Chad Wilkins who's part of desert dubs Everybody knows Chad's car because it's it's everywhere because it's one of the coolest freaking cars out there.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's a gray car red I mean, I can't even explain everything.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's just so cool, but [SPEAKER_00]: meeting the guy who started desert dubs.

[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely, stud, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: So what we've done is we said, okay, hey, we've established these relationships with them.

[SPEAKER_00]: How do we grow?

[SPEAKER_00]: How do we how do we do these things?

[SPEAKER_00]: But we've just we've gotten in front of all these guys on social media.

[SPEAKER_00]: When we got these guys that are being established for these amazing clubs, reposting some of the stuff we do because it's just a good culture.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's a good vibe and people love it.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so I feel like we're doing the right thing.

[SPEAKER_00]: But it's not like we created it.

[SPEAKER_00]: Let's keep it real.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're [SPEAKER_00]: We go see what works at different places and then what we do is we implement it into our club and what we're doing and we create values and in the culture around it And that's what we've done so you know, you gotta give a shout out to those guys the worst person side you guys they just kind of like [SPEAKER_00]: took us under their wing at desert dubs we hung out with those guys quite a bit uh a rhino who drives the orange bay window bus is did it's one of the sickest bay window buses out there and they win you know constants and prizes because how cooler cars are so

[SPEAKER_00]: we're just taking what a lot of other people have perfected and implementing it into our club that hasn't been something that's been done in Colorado before.

[SPEAKER_00]: There's great clubs in Colorado.

[SPEAKER_00]: Folks, what I'm going to do is just if Colorado Grant Aslan, you've had him on in your show.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Francis is good, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: He's got that quick and stud.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so, you know, he's [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's doing great stuff with that club and then you've got, uh, you know, Eastern Plains Dub Club, which is funny.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's related to Grant through some family, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, it's his little brother Reed.

[SPEAKER_00]: And then you've got, um, you guys, yeah, clubs out of forks or springs, where you're at, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: P-P-A-C, Pike's Peak, air cooled.

[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: Cool air club up in, uh, in Fort Collins, I think, is right there.

[SPEAKER_00]: So, there's all these other clubs here in Colorado.

[SPEAKER_00]: We just want to do something that is, [SPEAKER_00]: Anna, I guess a bigger level from where the scene is bigger, which is your Arizona, as your California, as your Florida's.

[SPEAKER_00]: We want to bring that vibe into Colorado, and it's obviously working because we've gone from myself to Troy.

[SPEAKER_00]: And now we just did the math on at this morning.

[SPEAKER_00]: We're at like 17 members.

[SPEAKER_00]: And [SPEAKER_00]: These are guys that have been established in this scene for a long time.

[SPEAKER_00]: They love what we're doing.

[SPEAKER_00]: They love the culture.

[SPEAKER_00]: And they're creating it.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's not us.

[SPEAKER_00]: They're helping us go create this fucking amazing culture.

[SPEAKER_00]: And with all of those guys being part of it, we're just going to keep doing cool shit, man.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it all goes back to the clubs that you were talking about.

[SPEAKER_01]: I love what you said about, you know, we just take a little bit of what's working and, you know, kind of implemented into what we do, you know, there's no, you know, there should be a lot of pride in that there should be no, you know, no, no negativity in that because in business they say all the time success leaves clues.

[SPEAKER_01]: And if you want to be successful in business, all you got to do is pick the fucking clues up and implement them and you'll see success.

[SPEAKER_01]: And so many people beat their head against the wall and they're like, no, man, I'm not a copycat.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not this.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, oh, fuck that.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to take working and I'm going to implement that shit.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm going to see success, too, because that's how you maintain success, dude.

[SPEAKER_01]: Not what you think or what you feel, there's no room for things in business, right?

[SPEAKER_01]: So I love that you kind of have that approach, you know, you don't have too much pride, you know, where you're like, nah man, we're going to do what works.

[SPEAKER_01]: We're not going to let our pride control or dictate an outcome because a lot of times, you know, we're prideful, we're men, you know, we might let our pride might get in the fucking way.

[SPEAKER_01]: So tell me, man, at this point, is it still mostly about Volkswagen's for you or, or is it starting to cross over into something even bigger?

[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I mean, I think there will always be something to be about Volkswagen's, but it has grown to something bigger as far as community and giving back and doing those things, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: And because here's the thing, Joe, it's not about me, man.

[SPEAKER_00]: Like if you go on to our social media pages, you will see my car less and you will see anybody else's car because this shit is not about me.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is about our club.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is about the cars, the people in the club.

[SPEAKER_00]: I like my love language is to go and promote other people and get them to get things done, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: That's I love that.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I love to do.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so it's just not about me.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's about everybody else.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's about us as a team.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's about us as a club, about us as a community.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so it is growing in those aspects because I do want to see the Volkswagen scene and Colorado become like the Volkswagen [SPEAKER_00]: T or seeing down in Florida and Cali.

[SPEAKER_00]: And we have been a folks wagons here to do that.

[SPEAKER_00]: We just need something to bring it all together to make it a true community without the drama without the bullshit.

[SPEAKER_00]: I want to be able to give a damnered dub fest, a poker cruise, all these different places where everyone can come together with no judgment, no anything, and just truly be able to leave everything that this world is put on our shoulders behind.

[SPEAKER_00]: And just for one day, be like, dude, that was freaking legit.

[SPEAKER_00]: I love the fly fish.

[SPEAKER_00]: I will jump on a river, and I will be in a river for a day, and I forget about everything.

[SPEAKER_00]: I want us to create something within this community where people come out to a three or three dobs event and they go, bro, I didn't think about work tomorrow, I didn't think about the bullshit that happened yesterday.

[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't think about the guy over here that doesn't like me because I was just so engulfed in what we were doing, the fun, the ambiance, the surroundings that did all I was thinking about was in the moment of what I'm doing.

[SPEAKER_00]: This is the biggest one they've seen and one of the guys who I respect in the scene has been in the scene for a very long time said, hey, you guys have a big part to do with [SPEAKER_00]: the turnout of this.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, no, we don't.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, dude, we're just having fun.

[SPEAKER_00]: Whereas he goes, oh my God, would you take a compliment when I give you one?

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, I'm like, oh, my bad.

[SPEAKER_00]: Um, they got a lot of money from weed tax, baby.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it makes them the road up in in nettle and Colorado, which is just gorgeous.

[SPEAKER_00]: So to me, that's, that's one of the best drives being from a north side of Colorado.

[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, okay, so I'm a, I'm going to talk on this.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if this will make the podcast, though, uh, speaking of weddings and doing some.

[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, when I was there this last thing I was there from 2012, uh, [SPEAKER_01]: No, sorry, 2014 to 2018, and I did a wedding and tell you ride, oh yeah, and bro, when you come down around and you have the, you're on the other side of the Rockies.

[SPEAKER_01]: And when you come around, these, these, I forget the name of the, of the road down there.

[SPEAKER_01]: Is it, is it, is it I 25?

[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's not 25.

[SPEAKER_00]: You take 25 doing that with road.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's how we 50 it's 50 50 go south and wrap way on down there and good.

[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's highway 50.

[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, regardless of what road it is when you were just saying that I was like, Oh, the road was so soon.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you won't catch me on that ship because I'm scared of heights, but yeah, that is it.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, bro, I would do anything to take my Volkswagen and run it up skyline drive, run it over the Royal Gorge Bridge.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like I did my mom's Mazda 323 when I was 16 years old.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I love that area.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I just saw some guys.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's called [SPEAKER_01]: buses by the royal gorge i just found a great page just a couple of weeks ago and i you know uh i try to connect with them but they just did their event i think mace may fit and you see that bro that's by uh got in josh green i think it's josh green what he runs uh [SPEAKER_00]: PPAC, which is Pikes Peak Aircool, that's their show or one of the things that they do.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're part of that.

[SPEAKER_00]: So don't British it.

[SPEAKER_01]: I tried to recap to them because I want to have them on the podcast because I got like core memories in, uh, highway 50 in that whole area, you know, Freemont County bro.

[SPEAKER_01]: My mom, my mom basically had me kind of helped grow up there.

[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I started visiting downtown Canyon City.

[SPEAKER_01]: My mom had a house on fifth in college from the time I was 13.

[SPEAKER_01]: So I came out there, 14 came back for the summer, 15 came back for the summer.

[SPEAKER_01]: I was 16 and learned how to drive a stick shift.

[SPEAKER_01]: I told you to be kidding.

[SPEAKER_01]: She sent me out on skyline drive and the three speed people to V8 on skyline drive.

[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even know how to drive yet, dude.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm, yeah, yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: And if they figure it out, I'm just thinking, yeah, big enough.

[SPEAKER_01]: Those will take you to a whole no other level.

[SPEAKER_01]: They call it skyline for a reason.

[SPEAKER_01]: It should as crazy up there.

[SPEAKER_01]: But no, no bumper rails.

[SPEAKER_01]: You're, you know, yeah, man.

[SPEAKER_00]: One car that I would, one car would never sell as my 1971 Volkswagen Beetle that I currently have.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that's because it was my first one that I had.

[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't my brothers.

[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't my friends.

[SPEAKER_00]: It was, it's my first one.

[SPEAKER_00]: I will play with it.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'll do all kinds of stuff with it.

[SPEAKER_00]: I've already know that my daughter, my daughter Sophia, has claimed that shit when I go to be home.

[SPEAKER_00]: And so that car will never be sold.

[SPEAKER_00]: Ever.

[SPEAKER_01]: If money was no obstacle, no object at all, what would be a dream VW build that you would put together?

[SPEAKER_01]: Well, 23 window, freaking split.

[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, split, slam that shit, airbags, freaking, I mean, even though everybody does, yeah, well, even though everybody does folks, I pride those and folks up on that, a ridiculous system, and [SPEAKER_00]: I would throw.

[SPEAKER_00]: Come on.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you know what I would do with it though.

[SPEAKER_00]: I would drive that shit every day.

[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care how much money I spent on it.

[SPEAKER_00]: I would drive that shit every day because I feel like these cars are meant to be driven.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what I would do with it.

[SPEAKER_00]: But that's what that's my dream ultimate.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I would do.

[SPEAKER_01]: I just saw one.

[SPEAKER_01]: It was either me come or it was Barrett Jackson.

[SPEAKER_01]: It was a late 50s 23 window.

[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely gorgeous fully redone card dude.

[SPEAKER_01]: I knew you weren't gonna say split bus and that's honestly my most common answer because I've had some guests on that are like six foot five, six foot seven, they're like, bro, I don't fit in one.

[SPEAKER_00]: They're like, oh, the shack put that seat back where it belongs.

[SPEAKER_00]: Bring this safari up top and force your head can stick out.

[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be so much fun five years down the road when you see this go from let's just say we get 150 200 cars to 500 plus it's going to you're going to be like yeah I was there I remember that yeah love it man love it love it definitely going to be a bucket list for me Grant Aslin also has Volkswagen's on the green that's a weekend.

[SPEAKER_01]: That's a bucket list for me, too, man.

[SPEAKER_01]: Looking at the drone shots and just seeing what he's built and what that is.

[SPEAKER_01]: I just, it's like, it's mind blowing for me because when you look at the drone shots and it pans out and it goes to the cars and it comes low.

[SPEAKER_01]: And then you see the mountain range in the background.

[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, yo, I don't have those anymore, man.

[SPEAKER_01]: I miss them.

[SPEAKER_00]: I miss them at some of this stuff that me and Grant have talked about is just like, how?

[SPEAKER_00]: You know, grant VWC, I'm a fair 303 dubs, but we do it's so important that we have these different clubs and the things that we're doing it's so important that we have Volkswagen on the green and the will merit show and all these other things because we need to give people different options and different things to go see.

[SPEAKER_00]: I'm all air cooled.

[SPEAKER_00]: You can't come to myself if you're a water cool.

[SPEAKER_00]: You can, but you're going to be parking with the spectators, you know, I'm saying, but you know, you need, we need Volkswagen on the green.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's been around for 31 years and took that stuff over.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think as a president like four years ago and, um, [SPEAKER_00]: i'm telling you without grant vwc is in a whole different world right now because he's the one that is like the face that one is putting it out there on social media stuff like that so um man it's so important that we we put all the bullshit of like hey you're in that club i'm in that club behind [SPEAKER_00]: actually it's it's a community over competition right and so the community is got to be so much stronger than any kind of competition because there's plenty to go around.

[SPEAKER_00]: If you go to California 1303 Wolfsburg, Wolfpack, Frick and Volkswagen, Roland or oil drippers did their all at the same shows because they all support each other.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's the shit we need in this community and every spot, every scene that we're in.

[SPEAKER_00]: Bro, you're not wrong.

[SPEAKER_01]: You're not wrong.

[SPEAKER_01]: And that I gravitate towards that because there is a little bit of click-ish nature, you know, down here where I'm at in the Tampa Bay area, uh, west coast kind of central Florida as a whole.

[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah.

[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.

[SPEAKER_01]: You got to see past that, see through it.

[SPEAKER_01]: There shouldn't be any clicks.

[SPEAKER_01]: We should all.

[SPEAKER_01]: There's enough to go around.

[SPEAKER_01]: You know what?

[SPEAKER_01]: When I look at it from a business standpoint, I talk to a lot of, you know, my background's HVAC, and I talk to a lot of HVAC company owners.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I say all the time to them.

[SPEAKER_01]: Yo, stop undercutting your competition, man.

[SPEAKER_01]: Like, don't talk that about him, talk good about him, build him up.

[SPEAKER_01]: There's enough business to go around.

[SPEAKER_01]: And I feel like in the Volkswagen community, it's the same way.

[SPEAKER_01]: There's enough Volkswagen fans, enough Volkswagen people that own these cars.

[SPEAKER_01]: to go around and the more you're clicked and the more you're, you know, kind of talking shit about the other clubs or the other scene or the ret that, you know, how you do things different and they don't, the less people are going to flock towards you.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's about togetherness.

[SPEAKER_01]: It's about bringing everybody together.

[SPEAKER_01]: So I vibe with that man.

[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate that.

[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely brother.
