A burnout is when a car's tires spin while the car stays in one place, making smoke and noise. It's often done to show off the car's power or just for fun.
When someone says they 'matted it', they mean they pushed the gas pedal all the way down to go as fast as possible. It's a way to get the most power from the car quickly.
When the tires start to spin, it means they're turning quickly but the car isn't moving forward much. This can happen when you press the gas pedal hard, especially if the road is slippery.
In drag racing, drivers use parachutes to help slow down their cars after they finish a race. This is important because the cars go really fast and need extra help to stop safely.
BTR is a company that specializes in making cars faster and more powerful, especially those with LS and LT engines. They help car enthusiasts improve their vehicles' performance.
The valve train is a system in an engine that helps open and close the valves. It includes important parts like camshafts and springs that make sure the engine runs smoothly.
A camshaft is a part in an engine that helps open and close the valves. It makes sure that the engine gets the right amount of air and fuel at the right time.
Brian Tully is a person who is well-known for making special parts called camshafts that help engines perform better. He started a company that focuses on these parts.

Two thumbs up.
Eight thumbs up.
All right.
It's official.
First installment of Moron Nation Unfiltered.
First on the road, though.
First on the road, fourth installment, Moron Nation Unfiltered.
We're here at Branton Motorsports Park.
Been here for a few days now.
A few days.
Yeah.
We got some.
Yeah, I know.
Hey, look.
Just to let everybody know.
I know how the sound people know.
We are on the road.
We are outside.
We are at a race track.
There's generous.
We have to deal with just a little bit of noise.
Sirens.
If you don't like it, please listen still.
There's a whole lot of people.
Well.
Is that Keith's generator?
No.
No, Keith's is over here.
Oh, okay.
Okay.
Keith's is loud, too, though.
Is it?
Oh, yeah.
We've parked next to him.
Oh, yeah.
There's a whole bunch of people leaving Cleetus is over here.
He had some deal going on.
Yeah.
So please excuse the extra noise.
We're going to get through it this time.
But part of it.
It's cold out here, too, guys.
I'm not going to hear us complain any more about it.
Nope.
It's cold.
I ain't got no paints.
I got some paints on.
I got some shoes on for the people that are wondering out there.
Can't believe you wear shoes.
I know.
Can't believe you own shoes.
I thought you only had open toe shoes.
Can't believe you own shoes.
But so to get right into this, we came down here to test.
Tried to get our shit together.
Man, it was not great.
I did see where somebody, I did see online where somebody said,
I think I remember Sean saying that people who test don't have their shit together.
I did say that.
I did say that.
And I still stand behind that, man.
You know why we tested?
Because we ain't got our shit together.
We knew that there was a problem last time we were down here.
We didn't talk about it a whole lot.
But at the summer.
Snowbirds.
Snowbirds.
Ah, close.
One of these days.
Summer and snow.
It's close.
One of these times I'm going to get these three races figured out.
We're at US Street Nationals here this time.
But at Snowbirds, we knew that there was a problem.
We talked about it.
We said we went 59.
It was the fastest that we went at the event.
And we weren't happy with it.
I mean, there were people running 56s and it should have,
one of those 56s or better should have been us.
It should have been us.
And we knew, and I think that we talked about it a little bit.
Not a whole lot, but more sirens, guys.
For you people out there that are...
Bradentons, real hood.
Taking notes on how bad the sound is.
There's more sirens.
But we talked about it and we talked about letting go of the button
and the driveshaft being down.
And we talked about the RPMs being up
and it didn't take the driveshaft with it.
We came out here and we tested all day.
We made seven passes.
We went to the strike three of those.
The 60-foot was back though. We got our 60-foot back.
We did. We got our 60-foot back.
And Bradenton even said,
I'm going to quit pussy-footing around
and we're going to hit it hard.
And he did.
And we went a string of 940s.
Yeah.
Which in a turbo car is great.
We can go 960 and still go 61.
If we can put that 140 with a 110 or better back...
940?
Yes.
Yeah, yeah. 940.
Also, the back split that we had even...
We did end up mustering up a 59.
Yep.
It was everything that we had to do the 59.
So we started looking at some data last night
and we found what we believe...
What was the beginning of it?
It is a problem.
It's probably...
It may not be our only problem,
but it is a problem.
It's a problem.
Anybody that runs a lock-up converter,
a lock-up transmission,
they have lock-up converters.
And this is our first...
We have a lock-up strictly for radials in the other car,
but we've only made six passes on them.
I think we made 20 that week.
We did?
We made a lot of passes.
Because as soon as we flew that car,
we didn't run it again.
True. Very true.
So...
It was a few.
Not enough to maintain the program.
This is our main car with a lock-up.
Yes.
And, you know, we're still...
We're still dumb.
Look, guys, everything that we say,
you have to take into consideration
the fact that we're stupid.
Well, and, you know,
stupid's probably ignorant
because ignorant...
We're morons.
Stupid is knowing and not doing.
Ignorant is knowing or not knowing
and not knowing.
Okay, well, then we were definitely...
We're full of ignorance.
We only know what we know.
You know what I mean?
And we're still learning as we go with this deal.
We're really good at
maintenance things.
If we know that we need to maintenance them.
Yes.
Okay, so it turns out
the clutches inside this converter...
Man, we don't really know that they...
We knew that they were maintenanceable.
Don't get us wrong.
We knew that they were maintenanceable.
We thought the intervals were a little...
We didn't realize that
every 12 passes,
we at least need to pull them out
and look at them
and check them out
and probably change them.
Yeah.
Well, we got 35 passes on this unit.
So, we...
Phantom noticed something in the data
because that's what Phantom does.
He spends...
The times that
Ben and Billy are putting the cars up,
getting everything
buttoned up, cleaned up
and ready for the next day,
Phantom goes through data.
I don't really know what I'm doing at that time.
It's usually at MPK and stuff
talking with fans
and doing everything.
Yeah, doing my thing.
So, Phantom has this thing
where he goes and he just starts
looking over all the data
and basically what you do
is you look for things that don't belong
and he started noticing
that in high gear,
the lockup was not one-to-one.
Yup.
So, on really good passes,
as soon as this thing goes into high gear,
the driveshaft and engine RPM are locked.
They're the same.
The same line.
But now,
they're not really locked.
Not for a little...
They are at the end,
but as soon as that thing goes into high gear,
the converter hasn't yet caught up to...
hasn't coupled.
Yes, hasn't...
And whenever it locks up,
it uses clutches,
just like in a transmission,
it should be locked.
My bad.
It should be locked.
And it's not.
And if it's not in one-to-one ratio
in high gear,
then it's damn sure slipping
in second gear.
Yeah.
And through the middle
is where we had a lot of our problems
is where we had a lot of our problems
getting down the track
while we were testing.
Yes.
It just kept knocking the tire off
and shaking out there
about...
That's the time we were locking it up.
As soon as the lock-up would come on,
it would try to lose the tire and run.
It wouldn't try.
It accomplished it.
And it just depended on how bad
you wanted to drive it.
Whether or not it went to the finish line.
So we hollered at Mark Mickey.
Actually hollered at Blake,
Housley,
one of our chassis guys.
And he said,
oh, yeah, we just changed Mark's
in his car at 12 passes.
And I went, ooh, 12 passes.
So we pulled ours out
and we took it.
Mark has a little place.
He's got a couple places.
He's got a nice little place over here
and Bryce was over there.
Blake was over there
and they're working on his car.
And so we show up and Bryce,
anybody that doesn't know is...
Bryce is awesome.
Yeah, Bryce is cool.
He is Mark's nephew
and he's...
he's a lot of the brains
that goes on over at Eminem
and he starts pulling
our converter apart right there
and starts as soon as he pulls the clutches out
they are smoked.
I mean, these babies are toasted.
Four of the five clutches in that unit.
It's a five clutch pack
so it has a steel, a clutch,
a steel, a clutch, you know, five times.
And the steels weren't burnt up
so I'm sure it could have been worse.
I'm sure it could have been worse
but they were smoked
and then I sent Mark a picture
and Mark even said
he didn't say those are smoked
but he said those are fucked.
Yeah.
You know, trying not to cuss too much.
That's a podcast that's allowed.
Yeah, it is, it is.
But you know, my mom watches and stuff.
Oh, does she really?
Yeah, and then I get text messages from her.
Really?
Oh, sorry mom.
My mom watches.
She just, you know...
...realizes that we cuss.
She realizes mom doesn't realize that yet.
Yeah, so.
But so hopefully that's a problem.
That's definitely a problem.
The new turbos were great though.
They made some...
Remember the brakes too.
I ain't talking about the brakes.
Oh yeah, yeah.
So the turbos were great.
They made a lot of it.
Some of it, sorry, not a lot of it.
Some of it was the air here in Bradenton.
The air was very, very good.

Tax Act, let's get them over with.
So just in comparison, I know
pro-chargers and turbos are different,
but whenever, say we go from
104 air with the pro-charger
to 101 air with the pro-charger,
that's like 3 to 4 pounds of boost.
Yes, and we also have to add 3% of fuel.
Yeah.
So, we, on the big end out here,
we made 8 pounds of boost more.
Some of it is going to be the better air.
Those cheater ass turbos.
Some of it is the new turbos.
So, either way, my point is
we had 8 more pounds of boost
and it didn't take the tire with it.
It took the RPM up,
but the tires stayed the same.
And we didn't gain any mile an hour.
We went 221, we've been 221 before.
With 8 more pounds of boost out the back,
you should have seen some more mile an hour.
Mark saw more mile an hour on his.
Yes.
But in my opinion,
that is because the lockup is not
actually doing lockup things.
It's doing lockup things,
but it is not a 100% couple.
Not real lockup things.
It's not a 100% couple.
It's doing like one disc lockup things.
Yes.
And I had the one, that one was still trying.
It was holding it up.
He was doing all, he was like,
come on guys, let's do our thing.
And they just weren't doing our thing.
We got those changed out.
We got a spare.
Now that is on our maintenance program.
Every 12 to 15 passes,
we will pull the clutch pack out of it
whenever you do the bearings.
I mean, we pull the converter out anyways.
Yep.
Every 12 to 15 passes
and we change the converter bearings.
At that point, we're already there.
We're already there.
All it is is another snap ring,
pull them out,
put some new ones in.
That's right.
Go racing again.
So, that is integrated into our program now.
God, just suck full of the transmission out of that car.
It does.
It does.
Okay, so all that wasn't great, right?
But, let's start at the beginning of a pass.
I was so glad to see you be able to do a burnout
in that car without problems.
Look, I don't even think about the burnout now.
I've talked about this, I'm sure a few times, right?
Oh yeah.
And I talked about burnouts are in my head on this car
and burnouts are kind of my thing.
I learned how to do a burnout in a race car from you.
It's like, it's real depressing
not being able to see you do a burnout with confidence.
Well, but that's back.
I did talk about the brakes
and our last video that we just put out
showed a little bit of the brakes
and we talked about, man, the brakes are strong now.
Well, we finally got a chance to use them
and the brakes work like they are supposed to
and the burnouts were on point, all seven of them.
So, I'm happy to say that now whenever I pull up to the line
I can continue doing what I normally do,
which is, you know, look at girls' asses
and things like that as I'm pulling into the burnout.
Well, not only were you able to do a burnout,
but dude, every single burnout was nice and straight.
Controlled.
Yes, you weren't all over the limiter.
They were hitting my marks every time.
It's just so much better, man.
And I just went ahead, since we were testing anyways
there weren't a whole lot of people here.
I just went ahead and committed.
And this is the first time I've ever really done this.
I pulled up there, I pumped it about three times,
I snatched the line lock
and take my foot completely off the brake,
popped it from neutral into drive or into first,
and then I just matted it.
And it was instantly just, you know, no big deal.
As soon as I feel the tires start to spin just a little bit
I just go right through second, into third,
and then I let off the line lock and I run it out.
So that's right.
It's almost like we do them the same.
But, oh man, I've probably talked a lot of trash,
but shout out to lamb brakes because,
man, that's how brakes are supposed to stop.
A couple of times after shaking, I didn't even pull the chutes.
And sometimes even pulling the chutes
it was a handful to stop at the big end.
And now it's like my other two cars, no big deal.
The brakes work how they should work.
So that makes me happy.
Yeah, so, you know, we were at PRI,
Derek from Lamb came over, said,
hey, you know, how are they?
Sean told him, hey man, they need some work.
No, I didn't.
I said they're terrible.
So Derek said, hey, get the whole system off,
send it to me, I'll fix it.
And sure enough, as soon as we got home,
got them off, got them out to California.
Derek fixed them, sent them back to us.
And here we are, good to go.
Man, it's amazing what a little bit of brake we'll do.
I mean, confidence in everything.
For sure.
I mean, that kind of sets the tone for the whole pass.
You know, a good burnout, a good or a bad burnout.
Well, yeah, it starts everything.
It starts everything.
And also, kind of going back to the whole
not coupling up, not locked up thing.
This car doesn't normally go right.
No.
Hey, sometimes it does, but as soon as it locks up
and it really starts making steam,
especially in one-to-one high gear,
it drives back to the center.
What's not doing it this week?
Just continues to go right.
Continues to go right.
Do you know why cars continue to go right?
Lack of power.
What wasn't a lack of power?
It was a lack of power to get to the ground is what it was.
So that's another thing that I believe
that this converter is going to help.
So Tuesday, maybe Wednesday,
we'll make a couple more passes and see where we're at.
I think we're going to be in a good spot now.
I had to drive the car on a couple of the passes,
but it was only because the car was going right.
I think now it's going to be fine.
The one pass, you did more than just drive it.
Well, I did what I had to do.
That was a display.
Look, man, team morale goes down
when you don't go to the strike.
It does.
After three passes, it was time to go to the strike.
Look, whoever was standing on that starting line with us
and didn't think you were going to the stripe on that pass
was only lying to themselves.
Yeah, yeah.
I feel like I'm so comfortable in this car now.
And it can go bad really quick.
And I still get that.
I respect the car, but I ain't scared of it.
So I think I know when it's time to lift
and I knew it was going to go to the stripe that pass.
Yeah.
Also, it could have not put the tires back on the ground
and went straight towards the wall.
What's crazy is watching that pass from the outside,
it looked terrifying.
That's why everybody was freaking out.
But from your glasses inside the car,
you're barely moving the wheel.
Yeah.
It's crazy.
Y'all came down there and y'all was just like,
damn, man, and everybody at the starting line is upset
talking about this isn't a roundy round track.
Yeah.
And I was like, what?
And then I saw the pass and I was like, oh, that's not.
Nah.
That's not what happened.
No, show me that pass.
Yeah.
That's a pass from some other time.
That's not what just happened.
It literally, it was no big deal in the car.
Well, it's all because I've seen you make a pass
like that 100 times, right?
And we can see both sides of the car
and you'll get out and you'll be like, what?
You know what I mean?
It's just different in the car.
That pass was no different than any of those other times.
I can usually tell when I'm having to wheel one of the novus.
Yeah.
This car, man, honestly, I didn't even feel it.
Sometimes I'll wheel something and it's still not a big deal
just because I knew that I had it under control.
Yeah.
But I know it.
In this car, I had no idea it was,
I had no idea it was even close to that.
Like, I saw it sideways and the front end was up.
Wheels are off the ground.
Hey, and I'm still, you know, driving it back.
Like never came off 100% TPS.
No, because I wasn't lifting.
No.
So, you know, testing didn't go great, but it didn't go terrible.
That's all over and done with.
We're here at the track still chilling.
We didn't have anything to do tonight.
Well, Freedom Factory is just right next door.
Let's bring them up.
Let's bring up our two guests.
Yeah.
Okay.
You want to talk about the guests here real quick?
Did somebody sponsor this podcast for what?
Man, you know what?
They did.
What's here?
Who was it?
BTR, Brian Tully Racing.
I like them.
I mean, you guys know them.
If you're an LS guy, LT guy, you know BTR.
They have come on board for this podcast, this episode,
and we can't thank them enough.
If you don't know what BTR is,
and you're into hot riding, I don't know how.
Go to their website, check them out.
They definitely have nice valve train for you,
cam shafts, valve springs.
I mean, that's what started them off, I believe.
Brian Tully was a cam guy.
And he started specking cams,
and then he started building cams.
I don't know his whole history.
Don't get me wrong, guys.
I didn't look him up.
I don't know his whole history.
I just remember back in the day,
people would be like, I got a Brian Tully cam.
Got a BTR stage four truck cam.
And then they kind of started just doing everything.
LS, LT.
Well, they do.
They have their own,
they have their own chef mount rocker arm conversion sound
for the LS stuff.
The LT motor that we got
for the giveaway Silverado Aiden's old truck.
That was one of their off the shelf units.
All of Richie Chevelle.
All of Richie Chevelle has BTR rotating assembly in it.
Valve train, all that stuff.
So, great company.
We do a lot of work with them.
We appreciate everything that they do for us.
So, check them out.
BTR, Brian Tully Racing.
They are the sponsor of our fourth episode.
They are actually here.
They are.
They got a new car.
They got a new car.
He bought a beautiful Corvette.
You know who that is, right?
Yeah, it was Super Dave's.
Super Dave's old Corvette.
He used to race with us at MPK.
They've got the guys from Ten Soldiers are here.
And Jason is actually driving the car.
Jason is actually driving the car.
The guy who drives Charlie Brown.
So, you know, they got a good driver.
And it looked like they was making some progress.
I guess they bought the car two years ago.
It's set and now he's out driving it.
So, it's pretty cool.
For sure, for sure.
So, without further ado, let's introduce these guys
sitting here to our left and right.
I mean, you guys always ask who's the new crew.
Well, this is the same crew we've had for four or five years now.
You know?
Yes.
They've been with us through thick and thin.
Billy Ellington, Ben Harris.
That's our crew.
That's our crew.
So, basically, you guys know how small of a circle we keep it.
Very small, almost like a dot.
Billy is my first cousin.
Ellington, Ellington.
I don't know if anybody put that together.
But, you know, two Ellington sitting here.
So, then, Ben is Aaron's cousin.
So, you know, you would think maybe, oh, well,
everyone lives real close together.
So, it probably works out.
That's not really the way it worked out.
That is not true.
So, whichever one of y'all, Billy, let's hear it from you.
Oh, heavy talker.
Heavy talker.
Oh, I got to go close, right?
Yeah, you got to speak up.
I speak up so people can hear you.
So, tell them where you're from.
Tell them how long you've been working on race cars.
And why you turned this car around in between rounds so well.
How did your race car experience lead to getting on a professional race team?
That's right.
That's right.
I mean, fit right in on this professional crew.
Well, I was born in Naples, Florida.
I'd live in Bellevue, Florida, which is right outside of Ocala.
The rich part.
The rich part.
Well, I haven't heard of it.
Aiden doesn't have a mic right now.
He just said the rich part.
Yeah.
Yeah, according to some people.
It's fired up a race car.
But a race car, it was with you guys.
Yeah.
I mean, honestly, Ben and I showed up and...
It was a lights out.
It was like 10 years ago.
South Georgia Motorsports.
Yeah, it was almost 10 years ago.
And we hit it off, was around the cars.
We loved cars.
I grew up with actually low riders, not race cars.
Yeah, he's a basehead and he's a mini trucker.
Yeah, he's what he is.
Yes.
And that was my passion when I was younger and then started coming around with you guys.
And you guys said, hey, come on.
So Ben and I showed up, started helping out a little bit.
Became buddies.
Became buddies, yeah.
They're Harry and Lloyd.
Yeah.
Remember the...
Yeah.
No, they are definitely Harry and Lloyd from Dumber and Dumber.
Dumber and Dumber.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Exactly.
So you had zero race car experience when you came here.
No race car experience.
And not even really any mechanical experience.
Well, I was...
I knew how to...
I built Mazda engines and stuff like that.
Oh, B-2200s?
Yes.
Yes, exactly.
So basically, you're just not a dummy.
I know enough.
Yeah, there you go.
But also, I didn't bring thoughts of what I knew here.
I learned from you guys.
That's the best way.
You guys said, hey, this is how I want it done.
And that's how we did it.
And asking questions.
That's the best way.
Yeah.
You know, you could be the best at something.
But if you haven't done that, then you're going to have bad habits already.
Yeah.
So...
And it worried me a couple of times with the stuff I was doing.
Like when I almost fell with the door.
Yeah.
I remember that.
You don't remember that?
Oh my goodness, I walked.
He stepped out the trailer, hit a hole and did a hole 360 while Sean was...
Sean was signing autographs.
Which car?
Sean just kind of turns his head.
It was the MPK car when it was black.
Yeah.
Sean just kind of turns his head and goes back to signing.
Nice.
Nice.
Yeah.
And I'm sitting there going, oh my God, I hope I don't do this.
But yeah.
Okay.
So zero race car experience?
Zero race car experience.
Ben, how about yourself?
Mine was kind of, I mean I'm from Atlanta.
That's where I live now.
Nope, you're not close enough.
Am I not close enough?
Okay.
Originally from Yukon, Oklahoma, where I was born.
And we moved to Georgia, I think.
They were six or seven.
No.
Yep.
Just can't get away from the six or seven.
No, can't get away from them.
Right before I started school we moved to Georgia.
And then kind of tinkered around the house a little bit.
Always helping my dad.
And then I think I was 15.
They bought me a Pontiac Parisian.
And I didn't know.
I don't even know what that is, bro.
It's the same as a square body Caprice.
Okay.
Yeah, but it's got a little bit fancier grill.
A little bit fancier seat.
Zero, zero mechanical experience before that.
So I'm jumping this thing.
I run around town for about a year.
Well, never checked the oil.
Nice.
I've done that with LSS.
Yeah.
So get up on morning, go to basketball, lock this deal up.
Nice.
So old man makes me a deal.
I'll buy the motor.
You put it in.
Come home.
Motor's sitting on the floor, unlocks the toolbox.
Call me when you want to start it.
And that's where it started.
And I've been doing it ever since.
Street to the Wolves.
Yep.
Well, I knew.
So for the record, Billy's my first cousin.
He is Aaron's first cousin.
So, and I knew you since I met Aaron.
So not real well, but obviously we knew each other better once you came and started hanging
out, you know?
And then we all kind of hit it off.
I mean, it's a big family, you know?
So, but I knew that you had LSS swapped a few things.
You know, you had the Jeep.
That did the Jeep.
Yeah, the Jeep.
I've done a whole bunch of stuff, my buddy Jacob.
Yeah.
And then you got a GTO.
You know, you have a few things.
Yeah.
Yep.
So he's a car guy too.
You know, and we got to talk about it.
So when like the year that they met that Dukes race, right?
You remember he like camp in the parking.
Oh, I forgot the speed up.
We won't get into that.
This dude camps out in the parking lot.
And remember that was a year that old dude's door got stolen.
Brought the pop up.
Yeah.
Choco grill.
Yep.
No here.
Speedos.
Just living life out there.
And I told there.
And at that point, I don't even think that we had the toter.
No.
Or any of that stuff.
You were still going to the hotel with me.
We were still going to a motel every night.
We didn't even have the real, like it was the 34 foot street trailer.
No living quarters.
Bumper bull.
Yeah.
Yes.
Yeah.
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
We had the bag Dooley at that time.
Probably on its third or fourth turbo.
And second motor.
That was the one y'all welded the heads up in the trailer that weekend, wasn't it?
We did that a couple of times.
In OG.
Yeah.
Yeah.
The same weekend we did the big withy.
Yep.
So, yes.
But ever since then, you guys have pretty much made every race.
Yep.
In the past three years.
Four, I think now, right?
Four now.
They're going on year four.
You guys beat y'all's head against the wall with our turbo car too?
Yeah.
Oh man.
Yeah, that's what I say, dude.
They've been here through sticking them in.
Yeah, through that.
That was thin.
Real thin.
Oh man.
Oh man, yeah.
And many of pulling the motor out in the parking lot.
So yeah, so for four years now, they haven't really missed a race.
So they have learned.
They've learned with us.
This is their job.
Yeah, they've learned a lot of stuff with us.
They've learned what not to do with us.
And we've become a pretty good crew.
We all seem to work pretty well together.
And things go good most of the time.
I mean, they do, you know, like it's one of those things that.
I mean, the joke here is.
They, you know, they don't have the race car experience, right?
Like it's kind of our joke is two morons and appliance guy and a mailman and a mailman.
Yeah.
So, you know, for us to go out and do what we did, it was kind of funny, but also,
you know, also true though.
Yeah.
So we won the championship two years ago.
And that's what we did.
We won the championship with two morons.
Yeah.
Appliance guy and a mailman.
Appliance guy and a mailman.
So it's pretty cool.
You know, everyone, everyone knows their job and everyone's not afraid to do something else.
Like, you know, there's not a, that's not my job person on this team.
Everyone just kind of works and does what needs to be done.
So it's a good mix of everyone.
It is.
So, you know, and honestly, we've got to the level that we couldn't do this on our own.
I wouldn't want to know if anybody remembers back to when basically it was me and Phantom.
And man, we work.
We blew that car a lot.
You know, so yeah, in between me signing Phantom would do what he could.
But even back then you didn't know.
I know.
Not even close to what you know now.
Nope.
That was back whenever you didn't even run valves.
Uh-uh.
Like I still ran all the valves.
I still, I still did.
Did everything.
I mean, honestly.
If the motor, if the motor needed to be dug into or anything, if the valve covers had to come off, it was me doing it.
Yeah.
I could change fluids and air tires up.
And cool, cool the transmission.
Cool the transmission.
Do all that stuff.
Yeah.
But we've all learned together, you know, and I was telling Phantom earlier today.
I haven't ran valves in three years.
Really?
Three years.
Ever since we got to him.
That's just.
So, you know.
It's uh, I ain't forgot how.
Yeah.
But you know, Phantom asked me to teach him.
I taught him and I checked him, I checked over his stuff for a little bit.
And then after that, I didn't.
Yep.
So I mean, you know, I want to win just as bad as anyone else in this pit.
So I'm going to do whatever I can to.
And I think that that what, that's kind of what sets us aside is because being all family,
like we all have the same goal in mind.
And that's to put whatever car we're racing that weekend in the winter circle.
100%.
And then we've put them all in the winter circle.
Do you realize that they're in a car in a race car in that shop hadn't been in the
winter circle.
Yep.
It's cool to stand there in the shop and just count the profits because it's
all the cars.
Hey, they're starting to multiply.
Yes.
It's pretty cool.
It's good because when one has a problem, the other one steps into hell.
Oh, for sure.
And because it's a family, it's better that way in my opinion.
Yep.
I know a lot of people say don't mix business and family, but yeah, we ain't none of us had
any problems, you know, and it's, and it's because all of us have that same goal.
If we ever stop having that same goal, then we'll have to circle back to it.
But yeah.
I don't see that ever happening, you know, and I mean, honestly, me and Billy, for us
to be first cousins, we didn't grow up together.
Like he said, he lives in Florida.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We were, I fought.
Yeah, we're born on opposite ends of the country.
I was born in California and our whole family's were in California and his family moved
to Florida to get away from our family.
I mean, that's exactly what happened.
Yeah.
And so growing up, I remember him when we was very little.
But then after that, man, there was 15 years there where I never saw you talk to you.
Well, no, because when you turned 18, you came to Florida and you wrote in my low rider,
the black Mazda that I had.
Yeah, I remember that.
I don't remember how old I was though.
It was right after you had just graduated.
Okay.
I do remember that.
So probably 12 years.
Yeah.
12 to 15, probably.
Yeah.
So, but yeah, I know that hadn't zero to do with us.
The parents had a falling out, you know, and it happens with family sometimes.
So what did they do?
They moved to where your mom had relatives, right?
Yep.
Okay.
So, yeah.
And then after that, my dad and your dad got back in touch with each other.
The rest of the family still kind of has some problems, but my dad.
We've got to get their dads on here somehow.
My dad and Billy's dad are the same, guys.
They are, I mean, they look the same, they act the same.
They both say that each other's full of shit.
And they're both full of shit.
They're both full of shit, you know?
So it's really funny.
And neither one of them's ever never wronged.
It is funny though, but I am glad that they got in contact, which made me and Billy
get in contact.
And then after that, you know, I mean, we're close now.
And that's the way family should be.
Exactly.
Yeah.
No, it's a good mix of people in this pit for sure.
So speaking of how successful we've been with all these cars, which is your favorite
car in our deal here that we race?
It's OG.
I have to say the OG.
That's a pretty popular answer.
You know what I mean?
Because it's the grandfather.
Well, it's the reason all this other stuff exists.
It's the grandfather of our racing.
It's the one that put us where we're at.
Well, not only that, it's because when Heather and I flew out to Oklahoma and saw you
and Aaron and then you took me on the streets with that, I can still remember that.
Trying to actually climb through the door and you were like, hey, just open the door.
Yeah.
No, this is not the general.
The doors do open.
Even though the cage is, you know, it was tight.
You wrote that deal.
I think we went to the corner store when y'all were at the old house.
Yeah.
We wrote it there.
Oh, I'm sure I took you down down the road.
Scared the hell out of all the little kids going to get some black and miles.
I believe that.
I believe that.
So it was the OG years too then?
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's just something different when we get to the racetrack and we roll that out and
you see the fans' reactions.
It is.
They just, everybody loves that car.
And it's just the way it sits.
It's just, and it's something about the feeling when it fires up in the water box.
It's just different.
It'll always be my favorite.
I like them all for different reasons.
Yeah.
But, and I'm having a lot of fun with blue right now.
Blue's a close second for me right now.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It is.
It is.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But what else?
Let's see what's here on the list.
Oh, okay.
What's your favorite track that we've been to?
Favorite track that we've raced at.
We've been to a lot of them.
We've been to Canada.
We've been all over the US.
My favorite and it sucks because we don't get to go there anymore with Colorado.
Band-A-Mir.
Band-A-Mir.
That was a cool track.
That's a good one, dude.
Just something about the sunset and the desert air and the echo off the mountain.
And Aaron's brother and sister-in-law and kids and everybody came to the race, you know?
So that always makes it better, too.
You run up to Breckenridge, get a steak, look at the snow.
Well, I mean, Colorado is beautiful anyways.
You know what I mean?
And then that track had the best view ever.
Yeah.
And it's always cool there.
Yeah.
Air-Sug.
Yeah.
Because it's between there and Idaho.
Yeah.
Idaho.
Man, Idaho's a good one, too.
Yeah.
So, what about you, Billy?
I actually, Chevy's track.
What was that?
Oh, yeah.
Red Torque.
Red Torque.
Red Torque.
I love that track.
Really?
I love the area.
Yeah.
It's just...
It's pretty.
The houses don't have ACs up there.
No, they don't.
That is one bad thing about it.
He's okay with that.
Yeah.
He's a tropical pop cat.
Yeah, but also, I mean, the food is good up there.
Except for the no mustard.
I'm still not understanding that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We almost had them upset today.
Had to turn the air out of the F-250.
Oh, man.
Hey.
Got that warm out, huh?
Yeah.
For them, I was okay with it.
Well, it's cold right now.
Dude, I'm crazy.
My feet are starting to get cold.
You just have to slip my back on us, that matters.
Yeah.
We didn't want to do a whole lot, and we didn't have a whole lot to talk about right now,
because we are at the track, so we're going to talk track things.
Yeah.
You know?
And we wanted to bring them on because chances of getting both of them when one
currently lives in Atlanta and one currently lives in Florida on the podcast together
probably wasn't going to happen.
And we really didn't even plan on doing this tonight, but there's a lot of traffic
leaving Cleetus's and...
We weren't trying to sit over there.
If we're going to sit somewhere for an hour, we may as well sit here and do a podcast.
That's right.
So we can talk about Cleetus's deal a little bit.
We actually went over.
Dude, that was awesome.
The ultimate deal is...
What was it called?
What was it called?
Danger Ranger 9000.
The Danger Ranger 9000.
6,000.
6,000.
Whatever it takes.
And whatever the ultimate...
Ultimate 600.
Ultimate 600.
Ultimate 600 race.
So we didn't find out about this race until yesterday.
It was a Jimmy Dale came up to us and said that he was looking for an ultimate.
And if he could buy one, you could get a $50 tech card and just go get in that race.
That race was brutal.
Those cars were moving around that track way faster than I ever anticipated.
So if you can remember back to whenever I did the...
Freedom 500.
The Freedom 500, even in the car, they were moving way faster than what I thought we were going to.
Was it you in the car?
Yeah.
And I was like, damn.
And it took me a little bit to get the hang of it.
But now those guys are so good at it that I don't know that I could ever catch up to them.
Considering that's what they do.
You think that...
And Cleetus races every event.
So they just steady keep getting better and faster.
And they know what lines to take.
Well, and now they're putting actual setups in their car.
Yes.
That truck that Kevin at KSR was driving.
That thing was amazing.
Dude, he was flying.
But did you see the wheels like the passenger front was cambered in more?
That's not just a go buy a stock Ranger and go out and race it.
Because that's what I would want to do.
Cut the muffler off of it.
Yeah, cut the muffler off of it.
Other than that, go have a good time.
Yeah, maybe beat the windows out of it.
Put a harness in it, whatever.
But stock, you know?
No, they're like real race cars now.
But you know, that's evolution.
That's everything.
It is.
And that's how it goes.
But they should have some sort of stock class.
Now, I don't want to be necessarily a stock class.
But for me to jump back in, because everybody can always ask me, guys,
lots of people always ask me, when are you going to go back and do the Freedom 500?
I don't know if I will, just because...
I mean, if I go, man, you know me, I want to be competitive.
Oh, yeah.
I feel like I'm even more competitive now than what I was then.
And I did OK.
But then I finally got took out.
We're going to have to bring Tyler with us to put a setup in that car for you to get in.
Yeah.
A circle track guy.
So I don't know.
I would do it.
It is a good time.
But I reached out to Cletus and was like, yo, what's it going to take?
And thank you, Cletus, you know, because Cletus got us into the race.
And we stood at the bleachers with the regular fans and had a great time.
Dude, before the ultimate race, they told us that we were in the danger zone.
We're like, OK.
Yeah.
Everybody, they're back away from the fence.
We're like, yeah.
And like lap two, a rock comes up over.
Or I guess it was a rock and almost took out Aaron's fronts.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So then she walked off and I turned around and there's a lady with a baby just holding
it right next to me.
And I'm going.
Was it a phase of bit?
No, not a bit.
She wasn't moving.
She was trying to get closer to the front.
Yeah.
So if you'd let her in there, she'd let you put her arms around her like you were.
Yep.
So but man, look, it was it was pretty amazing.
It was a train wreck at every corner when they first started.
Dude, there was so much.
Like I was trying to focus on one car and then something over here would happen.
You couldn't.
And man, there's just a lot going on.
Yeah.
That kid with all kinds of stuff.
Yeah.
It was a good time.
It was cool though.
It was amazing.
Yeah.
Aiden, what did you think?
Like that was your first time of being at one of Cletus's events.
Like obviously that was that your first time at the Freedom Factory?
Freedom Factory in general?
It was.
All right.
Well, grab a mic real quick and tell us what you thought about it.
I didn't take it on the camera.
Grab that mic.
There you go.
I don't have a hat on.
He's bragging all night about how his hair looked.
He literally won't go outside to sign unless you have a hat.
Guess I will.
He ain't got no hair.
I'm bald.
Man.
So how was it?
Was it everything that you thought because you have watched his events on TV or on,
you know, Freedom Plus.
Freedom Plus.
Freedom Plus.
And you've talked about wanting to go and you definitely want to do the burnout stuff there.
For sure.
For sure.
How was your first event?
Just walking up to the, just the fence.
Just imagine me going to the burnout contest there was pretty amazing.
And like the crowd was, everyone was there just like, I don't know.
I don't know what I'm trying to say.
Everyone was there to have a good time.
Yes, for sure.
The excitement of it.
Yeah.
Yes.
The, just walking around and walking through the pits is amazing too.
Like it was literally exactly, they were taken as serious as we take this.
You know, yeah.
Oh no.
There were some people there that were for.
I mean, there were stackers there.
There were stacker trailers there.
Like you could definitely tell that there were some for real people.
And then there were some people that went on marketplace and picked up on their way
to the trap.
Grabbed a little bit of spray paint and just spray painted a six, seven on the
side of the car.
Yeah.
Well, that one was a super nice one with the Lambo doors and stuff.
Yes.
He didn't last very long.
I feel like he had to drive that car home.
Yeah.
Somebody was looking for that car and it needed to be intact.
Dude, I don't think anything was wrong with it, but he was parked in the middle
and like it was broke.
Yeah.
And then you could see the people that, this is way more, what did I get myself
into?
Because they were the people that were slow rolling at the top of the track, just
barely going around, trying to stay away from all the action.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And all the people that put themselves in harm's way and we go,
Ooh, watch, watch, watch, watch.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Ooh.
Every time somebody got hit.
The ones that would spin out and then they'd just be stuck there and then
somebody come up.
Boom.
Yes.
Yeah.
No, I definitely can't wait.
Like it's, I mean, I saw all the comments that say the exact same way
that you're acting with Cletus is the same way we would react if we were
with you guys.
Yeah.
You know, like I can't wait to go to a Cletus event.
I like watching all this, you know, you know what I'm trying to say.
Yeah, yeah.
No, you're a fan of Cletus.
Yeah.
It's fine.
There's millions of them.
Yeah.
Literally.

Awkward.

Sierra, let's get moving.
So it was a good time.
And as somebody who did that and then thought to yourself, what did I get
myself into?
Because that's what I thought the first time.
I had never been on an oval track.
The only time I had ever been on an oval track before that was the dirt
track that we did on street outlaws.
And I was just the spotter.
Yeah.
I didn't drive.
So I'm not a circle track type guy.
I mean, we saw how bad I sucked at the road course out in California.
You were pretty bad at that.
But honestly, man, you did pretty well at the Freedom 500 until you got
crashed.
I figured it out.
I didn't start out very well.
Well, you didn't.
But you figured it out because you're a driver.
You know how to drive a car.
You started off that deal.
You were going pretty fast.
And you were probably going to wear your tires out too quick.
But you settled in pretty good.
Like lap three or four, you put yourself into the wall.
That was kind of funny.
But after that, you figured it out.
Yeah.
Yeah.
No, I hit the wall pretty hard.
Yeah.
And I because I kept on thinking, we're going too fast.
Yeah.
This is too fast.
I just I remember because I had one of the ultimates just drove by.
It was in that car.
That wasn't the big dude.
Was it?
No.
No.
That was a 300.
He was 911.
Yeah.
It was loud.
Remember?
I did.
You know, we had our headset because we took our headsets with us.
Yes.
I just remember talking to you.
You just hit the wall.
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
Yeah.
Hey, the whole time you're turning, it's just the whole time.
You know, and it's just brushing off a little bit of mile an hour.
And then you hit the straightaway and you grab the nitrous.
So man, it was a good time.
And I honestly would like to go back, but man, also it takes a toll on you.
I don't think that people realize how much you work in those cars.
Turning less hard, man.
Holding the steering wheel down like that is hard.
The next day, my shoulders, my arms, everything work.
Man, beat.
Just beat.
Just beat.
So.
But it was a good time.
I'm sure we'll do it to some extent sometime.
Like honestly, if we would have known about this, we may have got an Ultima and went ahead
and let Aiden drive it or something.
Yeah.
But because at some point he's got to get out there and just try.
Yep.
You can probably find one cheap at home.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's still sitting alongside the road.
You can already get one that's crashed or something that's already rusted.
Bumpers already ripped off.
Bumpers already ripped off.
It doesn't matter.
You know, you can probably pick one up for under a thousand bucks.
Oh yeah.
So.
But I'm sure we'll come back and we'll do something like that.
But it was enjoyable to just sit there and be a spectator.
Nothing to do except have a good time and it was nice.
Yep.
So.
You got anything else?
Well, he's got that deal figured out.
Everything Cletus touches turns to gold man.
And we knew him before it ever, any of that ever popped off.
There's been a few pictures posted recently from the Dino Day at Midwest and he's
just standing in the background.
You know what I mean?
Like it was before he was actually Cletus.
Oh yeah.
Like he was Cletus, but he wasn't Cletus, you know.
No.
He was Garrett Mitchell then.
Yes.
So.
But yeah.
He's a genius man.
Super, super happy for him man.
He has put himself in a position to be successful at everything that he does.
He just succeeds and succeeds.
And I'm sure there's a lot we don't see that he doesn't succeed at, but man.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Well, you know, it's, well, you would think there's, there's a, you know,
people struggle at all points, but maybe he doesn't.
Maybe he's just kind of figured out where everything is.
I'm sure before he hit it real big.
He struggled because now I remember he spent everything that he had.
Well, and he borrowed some money from a buddy.
Yeah.
No, it's a cool story.
And he's done well.
I'm happy to see that he put a hand in on this track that we're at right now.
He's in everything now.
And man, every time I come here though, I see them building stuff all around.
And I start going, damn, you know.
Don't don't build all these houses and then, but they're putting all these big
walls that try to walk out some of the sound.
And they know that this track is here.
I've never understood that.
Why people complain when you bought that track's been there for way before
your house was ever there.
Yeah.
You can't move in somewhere and then complain about the track that has
been here for years.
But him and Victor have a good thing going here.
And this track is very successful.
So I mean, it's packed every time they open the gates.
It's packed.
I mean, we've been here for three days now and there's been something going
on at the Freedom Factory and something going on here at the track every day.
Yep.
I mean, I think someone pretty much tests here every single day.
If it's not raining.
It's just that's just the track you go to.
It's a little lady that we like in the stage lanes.
She told me, well, I haven't went home since the last time I saw
you and I just laughed and she's probably serious.
Yeah.
I mean, even Johnny drama said he's been here for like three weeks now or
something.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So.
But it is a Saturday night.
We've got it's supposed to rain tomorrow.
Right.
I think so.
Probably won't do anything tomorrow and then Monday.
I just don't see any sense in testing on Monday.
Tuesday is going to be Brandon's even going to be back till Tuesday.
Right.
He said he'd be here Monday.
Oh, OK.
Tuesday is supposed to be a pro mod only.
And I thought Tuesday's the day.
Tuesday's the day to test.
Pro mods only and probably still will be.
It might be.
But Mark told me no.
But we're going to be in a weird spot with our rods.
So Thursday they say is going to be a wash.
Wash out.
It's going to rain.
So if that's the day, then that's the day I want to change the rods.
I ain't laying in the water all day.
I mean, we'll do whatever we got to do.
Like, Cleetus has told us numerous times he's got a lift.
We can do whatever.
But depending on what our pit looks like, because we are over here in the grass.
Who knows?
It might literally be our only downtime to do it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Other than that, we just wanted to kind of introduce our new crew.
Yeah, our new crew.
You guys saw the new crew every video we put out.
It's not new crew.
These are our guys right here.
These are our people.
Well, everyone, you know, I get kind of why they ask it.
They're trying to figure out how they start winning.
Who'd they get in here?
Yeah.
You just finally put everything together.
You also get Brandon and you start winning.
That's right.
All our pieces fit together now.
Yeah.
And it would be nice if Brandon was here.
We got to get Brandon on here.
I've got some questions for him.
Yeah.
Even if we just use a phone and put it on something.
Yeah.
We got some questions for Brandon.
Pretty sure Brandon had a question for us.
What took that deck lid off?
Brandon got a lot of questions for us.
Mainly what the fuck?
He literally told us this week,
he's never ceased to amaze me.
And normally that would be in a compliment,
but he didn't mean it as a compliment.
He did not mean it as a compliment.
But he even told us.
He's still here with us though.
Yeah.
Look, because I tell him things like,
man, I'm sorry, Brandon.
We'll get better.
You know?
And he just laughs and says,
I think he knows what we mean, Will.
He even said in a text to me,
it ain't a lack of effort.
No, it's definitely not that.
Because we will beat our heads off the walls
and we will be the last ones out here trying something.
You know?
And I know that we disappointed a lot of people
when we showed up with turbos still on this car this week.
But let me explain something, you guys.
We're stupid.
We're going to show up at the next one
with turbos on this car.
We have zero plans on taking the turbos off of this car.
Not only because it's not our car,
but because we also enjoy the turbos.
Turbos are cool, man.
I don't know, turbos are cool,
but there's also something about doing something
when people say you can't do something with.
You know what I mean?
Like everyone says, you just can't win with turbos anymore.
And we have won with turbos already.
Not this race, you know what I mean?
So this race is next for us.
This is what we want to do.
This is our goals.
We have goals no matter how hard they are.
I mean, you have to have goals.
If you don't have goals, what are you out here doing?
I'd spend the money.
I mean, we get it, guys.
The other...
I'm not even going to say procharger is more consistent.
The centrifugal.
Centrifugal?
Okay, so hearts, procharger, screw.
They're all more consistent than turbos.
We know that.
We know that.
But we got a pretty good handle on this car.
It's pretty consistent.
And I think that we can go faster than those cars can.
If...
I think if we were in a position where Brandon had just said,
hey guys, we need to do something different here,
then we might need to start thinking.
But he hasn't said that yet.
You know what I mean?
Like he hasn't...
I don't feel like he's giving up on this.
I was a little worried about it a couple of times,
testing.
Yeah.
I mean, you know, it was tough.
It was a tough test session.
For sure.
It was.
So, but we learn a lot every time.
And we knew that there was something wrong with the car.
And I just...
I like it when we see a smoking gun.
And I'm hoping that that is our smoking gun.
I mean, it was definitely something.
It may not be our problem,
but it is a problem.
It's a problem for sure.
So, but...
I don't know.
I don't have anything else.
I'm good.
I'm cold.
I didn't want to do this for very long.
I just wanted to do just a little something
because I don't know if you've gotten noticed or not,
but we've put one out the last two Tuesdays.
Yeah.
It's kind of a weekly thing now.
It's kind of a every Tuesday type deal.
Yeah.
You can damn near start setting your...
setting your Rolexes at this point.
Even though now the following week, Tuesday,
you know, we probably still will.
We might could do it.
We're trying to do something with Ryan and Carson.
So hopefully we will have our schedule
of every racing thing that we're going to do
whenever we get them on here.
I heard that was supposed to come out last week.
I heard Wednesday,
which would have been three days ago.
Three days ago.
Maybe Carson could correct us on that.
I'm sure he will.
I'm sure he will.
But we appreciate it.
We appreciate y'all watching
or fast forwarding through it to the end.
Whatever it is that you guys do,
we appreciate it.
Definitely.
Be sure to subscribe to us on Spotify.
Spotify is the big one right now.
You know, if you need to watch it on YouTube,
that's cool too.
We're going to start pushing the Spotify channel here
pretty hard.
So share that channel with your buddies
or whatever they call a Spotify thing.
You know, I really don't know.
I'm still learning this myself.
But watch us on Spotify.
Watch us on YouTube, Apple, Amazon,
iHeartRadio,
anywhere you want to listen to your podcast,
you can listen to it.
But Spotify is the big one right now.
So we appreciate you guys being here.
And I can't wait to do the next one.
This is for the people on YouTube, though.
Since Spotify can't see that.
They can, though.
Oh, really?
Spotify is big on video stuff,
video podcast right now.
I didn't even know that.
Spotify?
Yup.
I've learned some stuff.
I thought Spotify was just a music thing.
I didn't realize that.
Yeah.
I didn't know it was video.
I thought it was all audio.
Yup.
No, they like video stuff right now.
So anyways, thanks for watching and listening, guys.
And we'll catch you on the next one.
Also, I don't know if you've seen it or not,
but I think we're going to try to put out a video a week,
a day while we're down here.
Yup.
So should be rocking and rolling on Tuesday.
I know that video.
Yup.
Yup.
So every day we do something.
Maybe they didn't watch that,
listen to it on a podcast.
Yup.
Or on Spotify.
Yup.
Or on iTunes, Aiden.
Watch everything.
Are we good, Aiden?
Watch and listen to everything,
187 Customs related.
It looks like he's ready over here.
Are we ready, Aiden?
Yeah.
Are we done?
Are we good?
Anything else?
Is that it?
Can you hear?
Boop.
Good.
So we're done.
Yeah.
It's cold, man.
It is not cold.
You're done.
This one goes out to the busy bees
and you're back.
Hey, multitasker.
Crushing multiple tasks.
Crushing multiple tasks.
Getting an offer in your car is one of those tasks,
but this task is a pretty easy task.
Pretty easy task.
Because you just got a real offer in like two minutes
with CarMax.
Task completed.
Nice job doing that task.
Want to sell your way?
Want to drive?
CarMax.

Notable guests include crew members Billy and Ben, who share their backgrounds and experiences in the racing world, adding depth to the crew dynamic.
Episode 5 of Moron Nation Unfiltered finally answers one of the questions we get asked the most — who are Billy and Ben?
After leaving the Freedom Factory where we watched the Altima 600, we sat down and introduced our two crew guys: Billy (The Appliance Guy) and Ben (The Mailman). We talk about who they are, where they came from, how they got involved with the crew, and why they’ve become such a big part of the 187 Customs chaos.
We also touch on how testing went the day before, racing stories, and some behind-the-scenes moments that usually never make it on camera.
Unfiltered, unscripted, and long overdue — meet the crew.
