Will you gentlemen? We good very very good will be
joined by Scotty very shortly. He's will generate a little bit
late. How are you pose?
Good. Good been busy on a weekend
gonna Kasia is and and mechanics Tran opening for a business from mechanic Workshop. Yes.
They still run a Goodyear Tire & Auto story.
Tellers likes you and they've basically got out on their own so that they're not franchise to anymore, but they still pretty much do the same thing. Hopefully we can get a cheaper.
Servicing done on our forwards because the the into their Mustangs and Volkswagen this in particular.
Yes. I don't than 80 Mustangs and
Volkswagens, that's for sure. Well let's get strength is some
car. Updates children will go to
start with you Rob and and Holly, I think with you in your car space, what if we got any updates, how yoga part for me?
Putting my, my rock, sliders on my little Jimny.
We took your car into gets fixed of a buttocks.
The are the buffer bar redone. Well replaced.
Well that's what I'm doing. Still shopping around for ING
80s but we still need to consolidate some of our cars but you know that might happen may or may not happen.
So I'm not holding my breath for that one.
It's pretty much it. I've been working on this little
Honda thing. It's actually say it's a small
car, big job. Yeah.
We'll get to that in a moment. But hardly any ETA on the front
bumper of yoga? I think she's talking about.
Five days. So, I've been waiting like now,
6-8 weeks they're ready to, to actually book it in.
And so they've got the bumper bar there.
So, the, we dropped it off yesterday, so it should be done by the end of the week. Yeah, you know, it's nice and
and then, they were plugged in replacing, it a brand new bumper. O brand-new, Miss Genuine,
Mercedes bumper. Well, nice cool cool apparently.
It's very engaged once before. So this time it's going to be
all on you. Yeah.
All right. Good to hear.
We are joined by. Scotty, do hell.
He's got, I'm doing well. How are you?
Very good mates. Very good with Justin takai
updates currently, mr. Album.
Sing at this view, I unfortunately don't have much to go on. Most of the cars are running, as
I should the STI unfortunate, got parked behind the house or behind the garage when we have solar panel work done.
It's kind of stuck there now, like, there's so much crap of the garage that I can't. Get it out.
So basically I'm hoping to get that out in the next couple days. I don't you take a drive because
I think it's, I took over service right before I left for India, and that's been, you know, this one, what?
Two months. So it allows me to live it.
Yeah. Okay.
Yeah. It has been a while so I need to
get back into that. Give it a bit of a, get some
fresh petrol on it, that sort of thing, hopefully that happen, you know, in the coming week. But apart from that, all the
other cars are doing pretty fine.
Yeah, this should be good. Mr. Scurried under me.
Um, I just bought some new wheel bearings for the Subaru.
It is getting awfully loud now so I thought I'd better do it.
So I just bought it as like the whole hub assembly.
It's easier than trying to push in and mess around with the bearing on its own. So I just bought as a whole
pretty good price, I didn't think would be that expensive anyway for an old. Subaru.
Now, so I've got those coming, I'll check those in and it should get rid of that annoying. I know like a whining kind of
noise or something that I can't really explain it.
But, you know, it when you hear it, yeah, it gets worse actually. Turning the steering wheel too
and that's that's it. Nothing else Cara?
Likewise pretty quiet. Do people look at the LTD on
certain on Sunday both, so the drive quite well, but they're still thinking about it, I'm like, yeah, that means you're not coming back this pretty much.
So, yeah, that's still there. And look at what asking your
expense a lot of money for. I think we've lost this point
there and I think you know, I've been honest and said it's not a show cards, very honest, original card.
Don't you tons of you? Little dents and scratches here
and there but yeah it's it's the most part very, very good.
So that was some day last week went to to Rob's Fabrications metalwork electrical engine fire, fighting fighting to continue working on this ever snore Hondas camp and Rob's doing in from tastic job. Just putting it out there with
the With the with the metalwork repair.
I definitely can do anything like that.
So I'm probably going to burn my car and fired knowing my track record. So I would then, so then we
started to pack all the, the brushes in the that in the generator. But could you draw because we
need to gear puller. And I went to work, if you don't
have to keep all that small. So, I will have to kind of
Figure out what we're going to be want to leave that one.
Robin get gets Master to kind of have a bit of a gander of it, but since I've left wrong house, it has it coming along.
I'm gonna have to come past the see it one night this week?
Well, having a sort of progress to my from last time.
I just think taking up the panel, the make sure it's attacked right through my still having granted all the attack sections back down to level so I can actually then smoothing everything out and in pain it. So there's probably another 10
20 Hours of solid working on it, to get it to a point where we can put the bumper bar back on. But it's just a matter of
getting stuck into it just before and a few spare minutes out of all our busy schedules to get out there you know.
So I had a bit of spare time like I said I was going to do it on Sunday. I thought we might have been
able to tackle it and we get stuck into it but I end up doing the rock sliders on the Jimmy. So that's another job out of the
way for another car. So there's always something for
us to do, isn't it? So, So we'll get it done, we'll
get it done. Absolutely.
Well that's that sounds good with that lasers do for so.
So I'm going to go do that and wanted to I got this this div treatment from work, but you want to try and meet me F6 because I know the Duke needs to get done at some point but I want to see if this makes a makes any much of any you know anything little bit better. Is it possibly by a brand called
pain, right? And you will too.
They squeeze correct. Yeah but I've heard some good
things about that as well. I want to throw some in the MX-5
is diff because it does make a bit of a weird noise when you're at a when you try to accelerate I guess from a lower speed and I thought do you know a lot of people have claimed that it's quite in there and you know as you did Sir well worth a shot.
It's other one. You just noisy already that it
does work with my videos. It's more got too much backlash
and that's just that's just the pinion gear wearing out its gonna look like when you put your foot on the clutch.
And take it off. I can't take a religion because
you think I just just, like, in a normal way you could get rid of like a clock. When it's not that we pushes or
anything like it's just it's just that if I took it to us, as I mentioned earlier, we support specialist.
Like yeah, the the diff. He's like, you can drive it like
this forever, but it's just going to be a little bit annoying me. So you won't get any worse is
pretty much as bad as it's going to get what?
It's like to get rid of the problem.
You're gonna have to kind of give it a different build at some point. And but he's like nothing
catastrophic, it'll be, it'll go for another You're Brazilian models just the physical mechanical a bit more clunky, where's it should be quite smooth so I don't have to work another tried anyway hopefully it never it just ease up ease up that you know the backlash and then go from there.
Really on its will see, it will say we go but it's always a difficult Prospect doesn't know when it's a I guess it's more of a quality of life Improvement versus a necessary repair.
Like you can always be like, well I don't, I mean, I don't need to do it, I would like to do it.
But, you know, when we're doing dealing in a world of like, as finite funds like that, I could spend the money on something else that I actually need warp, are I need.
So, it's always, if you can get it fixed for full like a or at least quite get to a point where it's not annoying you as much just with this kind of treatment.
I think that'd be pretty win-win situation.
Yeah, correct. Yeah.
So I think I think there's no harm in giving it a go.
Um I don't think it's going to. I mean it says have been
affected anyway. Says you know perfectly fine for
your you can go during all change or without it all changes, just by get in there. So Put that in there this
weekend, take the because I know it's going to check the rear end of it up and kind of get your hand.
Now how quickly the other day so that will be that will be done this week end to see if I can give it a review.
A little bit of Lisa, Lisa wife will look for the deaf but yeah that's pretty much my updates on.
Oh, I went to drive the mir-2 started it and it's got the battery. After I, like, I've been driving
around very, very, very lightly. So I didn't do anything like two
months. So I need to get would be
charging you with a good run because I machine was driving a car. But anyway, gentlemen, moving on
to tonight's topic, which is our modern Carl current cars were in the brand-new, getting too expensive meal.
The reason why I bring this point up is because you looking at I looked at the price of Of the Mustang Dark Horse In America, which is, which is which were actually going to get here. And they reckon is going to be
anywhere between 90 to 100 thousand dollars Australian, which is a lot of money for a Ford Mustang.
That's all that's not. She'll be influenced, Civic Type
R 0 versus 70 grand, you know, Jimmy's robbed of going through the roof. You know, do you think that
modern like current cards are getting too expensive or Or or is this the last chance to get like an affordable car?
Like I think I've 30 in and stuff is still quite affordable.
But you're running out of time. So I was reading an article two
things to buy now while you can because they are dying.
Breed, like, you know, some some particular um, in particular hot hatches, like the home dice collection, but running at a time General, I just wanted to get your thoughts as do you think that the car industry? I mean, to be fair we've had a
pretty good in Australia considering my Fiesta not my face for a steel trap which I purchased or you know 38 Grand you know with everything I got with it.
Considering Go overseas, that same spec everything in the UK is a 50 thousand dollar car. Do you think that we've had a
good or do you think we're just catching up or do you think it's inflation or do you think the car companies have been charging us to less and not making enough money because that really keeping up with inflation. You gotta look at the cards and
in England there, I think it's comparative to wages so it might be dearer. If we look at it, if you convert
it, but it might not necessarily be dearer for someone who's earning fifty thousand pounds a year.
Compared to what? Come on over here and in 67
thousand dollars a year. Yeah.
So you got to look at some equivalent incomes as well and then economy and cost of living, I know it's going to be higher, but Australia is one of the highest countries in the world for cost of living these days from what I hear.
So, we're right up there. I think New South Wales is at
the very top or Sydney, so you can't compare that.
But the clock, the price of cars, have gone up dramatically over the last Two years in particular, and there's been no R and D be no, real, big investment in in some of these cars in some instances, like for your normal ice motor type cars, your goal. If they actually taking stuff
out of it, your Mercedes if they can stuff out of it with the chip. So the car should be getting
cheaper and not dear. Like I just had a quick look now
because obviously the matter you mentioned, I guess more higher-end model cars, like the type R and the Mustang Dark Horse but even Owen and I 30 without any car dealer discounts you looking at 30 grand for the base model, there used to be a nineteen thousand dollar car here.
So just that's, you know, for the car that you supposed to be like this is a cheap one, you get into even that like, you know, you look at considerably higher prices.
It's it's yeah, I'd say definitely there is that feeling at the very least, that they are getting more expensive and hard to your hunting trip as well. Look, what I bought the fiesta,
I think it was the cheapest car. Ford sold.
You know, like it was even like, I think, I think I might have been picked by a couple hundred bucks by the base model Puma, which is insane. Like, that's yeah, that's
ridiculous that, you know, like a little small SUV is more trendy than I do know how to act, you know.
I like it. It makes it made no sense to me.
Also, also, with the fact that you're getting, you're getting out new way, way, way more performance for the money.
I don't know why they didn't sell, but Yeah, I'm just I'm just really like here is because like, the last type, I was 50 Something. Real, I can 55 or so.
And now the next one is Garrett almost 20 grand more, which is a lot of work, and it's a massive increase it.
I just like, yeah, it's your, it's got back.
The title of the fastest-growing, and every possible job combed over drinks, Etc.
But I don't think it justifies 20 grand.
So yeah. It's I mean, how much is a new
Jimmy nail after you have to you, what, you paid or absorbed.
So I know you told what it'd be like to recommend retails around 39 now, and when you bought yours recommend retail, it was 34. 4:44 me 34th and check it out.
And I've actually got a fur basically, 34 3 with the option on the color, which is great whites actually about five or six hundred dollars cheaper, I think my recollection.
So yeah, I could have got it for just under 35 34.
If I would have got a white one. So that's on the road on the
road and in two years prior to this, it was dealt 2929 chameleon. Well, so like other point is
clear to see that the price increase is exceeding inflation values, right? If we just put it on inflation
that can explain it at this point like that is what if we look at it from 29 to 39, that's more than 20% jump.
That's, yeah, it's crazy. I'm The top of that, the car
they've taken stuff out of that car, as well.
So, apparently the some of the models overseas models have speakers in the back, which the start.
And on top of that, they don't even have drink bottle holders, any door Pockets, how help like average a designer.
That didn't even think the car through which, yeah, I guess when you getting in the 30s, like, well, I'm for me right.
Like, I remember a 30, like a high, Ladies early for 42 Grand, you can get into like an ex SX Turbo 400 years ago, you know, I mean like a nice expect one to you get into like a like a luxury Park ex SX Turbo but I get that it's 12 years ago but that's not that long ago. You know?
I mean like that's that's it's not like it's your 30 years ago and I just don't think like anything like that like similar value to that. Are you be looking at 100 Grand
like this? Just it's just there's no that
in an SS Commodore had stuff like that.
There's just no. There's kind of nothing between
him and I want two things. Kind of jumbled.
The market is the SUV because there's the SUV's about every year, every kind of your own size and they just come in and I'm like, oh well it's you, he's always going to be more expensive than I do. That's going to convert you know
the cards based on. So you know our cars were going
to some cardiac muscle is going to start your car prices higher because there are Stevie's. So yeah and to top that off the
SUV's, now aren't even real rescue these because a lot of them are only front-wheel drive. Correct.
Yes I did. It's just kind of dump my head
in a little because obviously, I've been thinking about I want my can hell, how is it jumping? This might help composite
drawing this margin and they were on the new Dark Horse.
Looks pretty sick. And actually looks like a really
cool car and like I was looking at some of the options, you can get like their the carbon wheels from the place in July.
It's 12,000 dollar auction and all this extra stuff.
Like once you, once you put all your like to hire a car is in it and it will add stuff that's going to be a hundred, thirty thousand dollars. The words like it's going to be
an expensive problem when you when you pop it out like you get everything. Get.
Unlike other than that it's a Ford Mustang in 130 Grand, you know, five years ago. Was a C63.
I'm you know, 140 Grand. So it's just more your boggles
the mind as to how that's how they can just justify the price.
Like like hell. I do expensive cars with
European court has ever said, oh well, you want to buy European pavement going to pay for it and they make it, you know, they make it good progress on. But surely there has to be like
that to say, oh well these bubble of people just buying cars, Carlos Varela, you know, these back logo, you can charge whatever we want because we because you don't have put in a stock car lost forever. It'll come to a point is people
stop buying and then they're going to start trying to sell you have zero at the same finance and things like that.
I can already see it in some of the Leisure industry with its keys and and motorcycles their standard give you a real cheap Finance. They're not trying to end it.
Give you fifteen hundred dollar bonus incentives to buy it and things like that or or, you know, 2% comparative rate finance and some things like that, just to get you to buy that bike. Well, and it's only gonna get
worse that they've actually, I think shot themselves in the in their foot in what they do to us during covid and how back and then and then bump the price is up to buy a trail bike these days. It's eighteen thousand dollars.
What? Yep. 10,000 for a KTM 300 or
04:50 with seven. Eight, nine something.
Well, my firm had a bike dirt bike.
Essentially very blocky. Something.
I'm going to throw up against rocks and trees Jesus Christ like again. Exactly.
You can you worry like a, you know?
Yeah, unfortunately, yeah. But that's that's like our money
and therefore like as you said, prob like a ledger vehicle, So, that's pretty great. I was going to mention that,
like, even the the 2021 Nissan 370Z rice, new was 64 and a half. What's the, what's the news?
It like 86. 86 basically. So like a jump of 20, 20 grand.
Yes. You made a new model and
obviously you made some improvements.
But is it 20 grand more car? Now again like I can have the
Al's it at a trail bike for that KTM 300.
So just yes, this is there. Like obviously, given the market
still is I guess in an adjustment ending.
The deal is court right now, still, I think it's that they're definitely taken advantage of that.
And they go on a milk it as long as it kind of runs and eventually, like you said, Rob is like The Ledger card.
When you kind of seen that videos on finance, you also see, hopefully, see the kind of the, the car deals as well, kind of, I guess, Panic a bit and then, you know, straight up and start, you know, because right now you go anywhere.
Will you still to try and book a car?
They will just laugh your way like we don't need it, like they did doing quite fine for now but eventually there will be, you know, enough supply to the point where, you know, you're not making those deals every day and you have to actually sweeten the deal screen, the pot for somebody to come in and, you know, I say, yes, I'll let you take it and you can already see this trend happening in the u.s., what dealers are doing.
They're actually hiding their caste what?
Yeah, it was I was on YouTube so this Jeep Dealership guy like I say like a Westfield car park, a multi-story, the higher the whole top deck and punk, all their jeeps in the whole top deck of the Westfield, you serious?
Yeah, it's like 150 Jeep sitting there like, and stuff like that.
If Spotlight on you on YouTube, if you look watches a video, he went through the whole by car park, multi-storey car park, full of Dodgers in, like they already do a mock UPS of 20, 30 grand but I can't sell them. You're the one who's going to
pay 20, 30 grand for like a 4G. Like, like seriously either, I
like Teddy hellcats sitting there.
Like Brandi how gets full of dust, just sitting there in the car park, but challenges and charges, and it's like all your and then people go in there. I'll call now, with the can't
get the car, we drive the stock you have to wipe them.
I can wait a few weeks, the coliseum in the car park, but do what you do that if you get into alternative, all the car, I had two full down there. Yeah, yeah.
It's just, I picked up on that, you know, causing a person to get that farm over like I. Now, we really can't get a, we
might be able to get you an hour, a lot mineral, allocation, you know, if you put a deposit down today that sort of thing, it gives It really works for them that you know, just to get the person desperate, get the person to agree to a price that they probably should agree to because yeah, like well I went to a dealership recently and they and you know, just having looking at now haven't even talked to me and basically it was like well if you want this one it's going to cost you 20 grand more. But we're not selling it because
it is 0 is they'll display car but if you if you really want to but that's what we're going to go for and I'm like, I'm like what's the weight on me? Like two years ago?
Yeah. Okay.
So it's like you know it's just it just it's just it's just absurd ODI. And yeah, they were about
mortgages, people got all the stuff like they just want these when a car. But I always speaking to one of
the ladies I work today and I hope to change your hair and your brake line because she couldn't get with chipping couldn't get the thing off and it was Bloody hard for me to get out damn Corollas. Anyway basically, we are talking
and she was like her apart. I went to buy a really rough for
Or and the like the like is when there was one Ruffles me like, you know, a year and I've even a half of a half way.
Yeah, they're near 323 you are not on the road for hybrid.
Can you believe that? That's insane anyway.
They like, but you can upgrade into a Kluger for and you can get it within like I like listen half the time.
It's just like she like how is it or whatever to upgrade yours, but always went on a car, you know?
And when I have time, but people are doing that because they just need a car at this point, O people people cannot cannot wait. So I thought it had it had ID on
but I haven't but like I was watching and thanks to those of a good friend of the show, read wrong from hakan, he he sent me.
The link to was at Lloyds options on son of a Everything was getting Palestine. Like everything people like
asking all, you know, bazillion dollars are like a criminals and all that stuff, but everything was getting passed in and isn't it because? Yeah, because it was not many
reserve, it was like, Eiffel, price is what it should have but they should be going for like there but 34 years ago how it should be and they're expecting aren't my my bt1.
We all come on. All should be worth two hundred
thousand dollars and looks like getting that and they're getting pissed off and they're passing a Min.
So even with even on the second-hand Market, its It's going a bit until he bit nuts. But but yeah, I think the
smartest thing is for like a lot of people, unless you really, really are desperate like you've maybe written off your car or something, it's just hold off. If you can book a car and wait
that period book, it way that don't pay, you know, 10, 15 grand over sticker, you're not going to get that back, it's just more money in the deals pocket you know like and it especially with interest rates and everything else Rising that 15 extra Grand is going to really sting so people.
Just hold on to your car's a little bit longer.
Keep them in good condition. When yeah, wait it out.
That's what, at least. A lot of people seem to be doing
well, second hand Market because, you know, if you buy whatever said, Commodore for, you know, 10 15 grand secondhand way, more than it's worth. It could be a couple months
before you can't sell at that price anymore.
Well I'm going to marry would I? He's car was one of his workers
a VW Jetta and it blew up essentially and they were its own. That old.
It's like a 2012. It was dead anyway.
So they music and as need a car, we went to dealerships in these little things like this is, this is insane.
Like, what would be called a jolly war?
Is it will go? I want to go and it's real.
I want to be reliable other one in ubw junk.
Okay. Yeah, I'm like, don't go for a
toilet young. Go get a camera if you want to
be sensible that you know, if you don't care a driving, go your camera. So he walks into the dealership
and there's like this Camry Hybrid there to demo anything to realize, I was like, oh yeah, there's like this is not so old.
You know, how much and they're like, well if you want one, you going to be waiting identity gear and happy servings of.
Okay, either way, how much for this one, there's a deals demo.
We like four or 5000 K on it and they're like well it's gonna be more than one is brand-new either but it's a demo.
Been used. He's like no.
It's like if you need a copy that desperate you're going to pay it and we paid it. He paid like three or four grand
more than what the car was worth because he was just, he just needing me of the car. Yeah, and I'm like, I'm like
dude. Like yeah, you should have
shopped around. He's like, dude, I was shopping
around. He's like that's that's all I
could get. It's just yeah.
So, what were you gonna say? Holy earlier.
Just I say, like, I'll be like that.
Like, literally look at AMG GTS, they're not selling none of them selling that this is their sin. In there, they put the prices
down and up. You can see the price the globe
over there, put up a bit in a lower it the dealers and stuff and privately to do is they can't sell under the same.
One's been sitting there for two years just going down in price and they can't sell them. But yeah, what time did you go
for these days? Well, the cheapest one because
like you anymore. Anyway, that's what I was
looking at, like, say, for example, a 2016 1, let's go for About like 190. Yeah but where we look in back
in 2020? They'll go for 145 149.
Okay, the same C63, the cities, the threes back then, we're going for 70, 80 grand for a cease to there.
Now, sedans are going for 90 grand.
Right, like a 2 out of 5, C 63 and under the group's, we would like 90 another 120. I do various.
I know they're going down again. They come down again to the
coupe's, like the cheapest could be.
He was like hike has 100,000 case but being a daily driver, they go for about 90 to 94. Neil.
work with here missing Tita. His wife had a nice Theater, he
just grabbed a brain, you see a cx30 Mazda and he put this in here. I'll put a phone for.
Like, you brought a Toyota took pictures of it.
Roadworthy is like Wynonna since you had 100,000 kazon.
It is ugly. Instantaneous are there.
It's like one of those cars. I'll put it on car sales.
He had a bit like, 78. People call him in the first few
hours. What are you need?
Some Tita Sol then, like, I put off as like seven out of seven thousand nine hundred dollars, and it was like, and I was like a 2008, listen to A wooden box. Yeah, it's only within the day
was more expensive than the other ones are all now.
But it was probably like in between the cheapest in the hot ones, the deal has some deals last, you got nine thousand dollars from drive away. And he's been flat for 7900,
right? With yourself a 7, some guy,
came 76 or something. Okay, a team looks for a box
off. That's right.
Well yeah, so people are still just rip a cars but How long is it going to last for like I don't know what I'm walking.
I'm Polly worried about his is gonna be a thing of like car companies overall will slow down manufacturing to the point where because obviously it benefits and massively.
It, it benefits a massively just to keep like a drip feed of cars because, you know, people are willing to pay a lot of times.
You'll find somebody eventually that's willing to pay that, you know, exorbitant price index, what they'll do, they'll scale?
So they also get asked out lean manufacturing and in when workers down to the beach. Minimum to get the maximum
output so that about that that if they find it, there's a Tipping Point on manufacturing and and selling the car.
So you pop it out about millions of cars at a low margin to, that means it's not profitable. What they want to do, is pop out
half that at a higher margin, but I think one of the best ways probably disruptor is, if we get it, will most likely end up being a Chinese brand little come in with as much volume as they can bring in. Yeah, Like be Whitey's and
everything else. Yeah, like they are the
unfortunately the quality. Some people are going to call.
It is not there but it is one of the only things kind of disrupting it a little bit. They willing to still kind of
producing good numbers and kind of provide people the house and so when you see like again you castled amounts, the top of the list is usually, you know, something something Chinese.
You know, I had to that date, the LDV is a great walls, the gwas and whatnot, Utes and our cheap at On stage and now they're gone, they're not cheap anymore, the mg3, when I first came out, was 14, like, 49, your something so mg3 now.
It's 19 490. Yeah, it's because the I30 30
grand, a also for this still gouging.
Yeah, never this advice, we can give just if you can.
Wait, wait, like, put your name down.
So you be also surprised in some cases.
You might actually, they like the data given you with the car, in some cases is definitely legit.
Other cases, you might get a bit earlier.
Yeah, it's just again, it's especially if they've got stock that they can sell you now for an inflated price, they'll try and scare you as much as I can. Well as is really good because
like I said, the guy I bought it.
He saw his wife's like a day more Brandy nx30.
So I say 6:30. And he basically, like ordering
last click again and you got in the basically like in April 1st.
We can actually that's actually pretty random like the end through the whole process. Like like they sent him block
tracking. It's in production order
received in production on the ship, like the whole way through like like you got updated through an app type thing and see, maybe three months, look, three months, he waited for it.
What's the price point on the six?
And you, well, I he was talking about the touring one.
I think you paid forty 2944. It drove away.
It's not too bad. Not too bad.
Like it's got the leather seats, the heads up display and everything. It's the last thing I don't want
them. Yeah, I was just taking in all
your points. It's and I think it's just
unlucky where we are in Australia, we're not a huge market and it's easy to charge more because we'll just pay for it. That we got no other option.
There's no other options for us here in Australia.
If you want that car then you pay for it.
There's nothing else you can do about it other than not paying for it, but then if you don't, then someone else will just come in and do it anyway. So it's a bit of a Both lose
whether you want the car or not. Because if even looking at like
the Utes and stuff, you know, they're like 70 80 grand.
For trading Utes is just ridiculous seeing these Hilux has and stuff. Why are they so expensive?
Didn't not, you know, you're spending that kind of money on a car that you're beating around and just throwing tools in the back and top tents and stuff is just ridiculous.
That money is huge. And again, people are paying for
it because it's a statement like something like I know I'm training I'm going to be but if you like my brother, just got burnt like the latest Ranger wildtrak.
And your and your appearance is a great read but what he paid considering to the other, like it's not worth it like it's just not worth it but you've already taken the original.
One was not worth it like you baby 56 for all.
He's the previous shape while tracking down those a few years ago before covid, but he's a funny thing is, you can still solve on the same money you paid for it with the, with over a thousand days on which is just insane, just ridiculous.
It's like the fascination with those boots.
Like I just like they actually terrible.
To drive, you can't fit anything in them because they are dual cab. And there, the beds are really
small. I didn't they.
And they can't do much, they do even ones.
Even ones that aren't your cab is still can't fit much in the back of them anymore. Correct.
Yeah. Like, you know, gone are the
days where like you could fit probably.
At least I have a hoarder a day. I like an old gear to your radio
edit right? Was massive.
I moved here in that car. Anything with these Exotics
turbo, we are human. We will put the fridge on there.
Put everything on a, you had a what a Frigidaire you know, we don't wanna track because it's got to be the role of the road always. Comes back, almost Midway to
the, the edge of the tray. So you can't put, you have with
The Fringe back, you can't make lady because it goes straight out the at the back of the thing, like they are pointless time, you know, everybody is buying them and everyone thinks that their Michael Schumacher driving them.
So, it's just, it's no like seriously though, right?
Yeah. Yeah, you know, wrong.
Butte drugs I said as I've got my device package outside so I start drove it. Mr. Berry shipper TV to his
house today, don't you tell me? What else is we want to protect
plants? Where is he putting plants in
the back of a new gear they were and they were there was some 5-footers one or two of them. All right, from hello.
Hello plants. You know, I'm now on Saturday,
this is Maria, could be used to customize now, they got sued.
That's just how I plants but, you know, I was doing the nice Bobby 60-63 case or the other Hume Highway which is an IDs are doves. Like I don't go any faster.
That's three plants in there, you know, it's fine.
Hey I use my you as much as I can.
How does it feel being being you've had a case on that uterine 12,000? Are you serious?
Yeah, yeah. Jeez Yeah.
It's a Workhorse. Yeah, yeah, it's
okay. That one.
I like like I mean 110 kilowatts 122 lat that one he was with 165 and up there but then I bought him out there like 35 9 drove away. Then like then put up even more.
They almost like 40 Grand and drive away.
And but the old ldb that was before was like in 20 8990 drove away. Well, just because I rub you
made money on that cutting, you mean soda?
Not really no because he did either be modifying, you should have been at up. I would have got more money for
it if I didn't touch it. Yeah, but I'm afraid it's higher
bar on it. The The trade racks, the roof
top brackets to for the rooftop tent, I put on warnings on a side in the back, plus a roof rack as well, on the front tender tires changed, two tires on it, and I've got everything back that I spent on it. We've all made our reckon $400
but and I drove it for six months but that car right?
Like you know, as a thirty five thousand dollar car like okay, it's cheap like I think that it makes those things should be as Figure a lot. Like the range is the highlights
Max like this. A five-year rugged, Max 50,
great. Okay.
Okay. Raptors spend a bit more
special. Okay. 65.
But like, but like when I got my degree here knows, yeah, mymy family, friends books 1492. I think it's and, you know,
it's, he still had the mindset of if we get a good price for, I'll sell it. I'm like, that's half the
problem as well. People like just speculating and
they'll, you know, Speculating on cars on my.
That is a dangerous game to play.
At least with the house is you know, generally more utility, the markets always been. As you know, you could we could
have the I guess argument of is housing.
Technically as a commodity, good idea or not, but we're not going to get into the philosophical thing of nature of it.
But you know, at least with the house is still house, you know, overall a house will appreciate just because it'll land and everything else. But a car in a regular Market,
as soon as you drive it off, the lot is going to depreciate on you. We're just in, I guess a unique
bubble time. I'm where the you will be able
to sell it for roughly, what you've got paid for all other room or in some cases. But you could you run the risk
at any time of that kind of popping on you and do you want to be like, you know, is universal are interested in the 92 thousand dollar, you know Raptor.
He's just a guy that you know, I think for work at least he I think you just drop some kids to school and whatnot.
Oh he's in his vehicle. So you know, does he need that?
Definitely not. Yeah, but rather than like what
the the D-Max I'm not fully justifying it before.
My parents, at least it's the car that once I retire as well, that's that'll be like their main Workhorse or kind of car, they could possibly go caravanning in or something like that. They think along to you don't,
it'll keep that Catholics. Hopefully, they next 20-30
Years. Hopefully, you know, knock on
wood, nothing happens. But that's their intention and
Why they want to call that? They can kind of rely on with
that aspect. They can throw some stuff in the
tray. They can do with it importantly
because all we've, you know, I'm not going to cover the Suzuki, you know, the LPG Falcon so that's at least the intention but the whole idea of like speculating on it.
It's a dangerous game to be playing but the man saw me at the white too. Oh yeah.
They do nothing. Well those cars like dude.
Like they okay? He passed me a middle of road or
rather read about whether 7-Eleven and I mean, I'm in the middle line goes around me. The body, roll in it, it's when
he's wrong, he's policy goes, like, gotta go up and down like others. I'm like, but they did nothing.
Why, why do people buy things? I like I'm getting it's kind of
a cool thing. It's like you see can do job and
stuff. I get a bit, naughty Grand, come
on and look at the God and God speaks to both the all of these Everest. He sold his territory for it,
like you. At 350 thousand combat territory
and he saw his nails white to use for everything is driving, he's like, wife's all like titanium Focus around until he waits to use easily within that two years, there's going to be an update model. So do you get that or you still
seem evident know the time but that's like even my friend at the moment that they just released a new GLE, Mercedes update and basically they called you Not because like all yet you like your jelly 53 img's, basically.
Like on like we're going to be shipped because is the new model then you must come here inside September.
Here, he has a new look like they're you're like well I won't give you that I've already waited.
Yeah, I guess I'll rather white. Another nine months to get the
new faces model with more power and more technology in it like one. So I basically got to be redone.
So he goes like I'll sign it is like if you keep the money whatever but whatever. Like but I want the First gow,
53 of the new shape to come out. Also, I think the other problem
now is you've kind of touching on is car, scalpers people that you've just buying them and then selling them for 15, 20 grand more, just to try and make a profit.
So the people that really want those cars and actually want to enjoy it and missing out and that'll take that was evident with the 407, the Corollas, the GI heiresses.
Yeah. Opera at one point when they
decide to come out then. All the same that just buying
them. They've got no case on it.
They don't want it. They're selling them straight
away. I could tell you you like it
been like the mustang club, multiple people have ordered to Dark Horses, what multiple people have ordered to enter a hundred, twenty thousand dollars each drive away and I've ordered two of them just to sell them. Just want.
Another is that with? I reckon about five.
It's like that's just a stock one.
Dark horse, that Ozzy Speck of white. 120 degree, it's 120
Grand a way thousand dollars. Gotta Wait the normal.
JT now has 90,000 GTOs. Yeah, the normal detainee has
90,000 and the dark Forces. 120. That's what I said.
And these people like they're in the Mustang way.
They like, they do all the parts and stuff here and there are multiple people have ordered two of them to sell.
That shouldn't be allowed, if you can even borrow Mackey, is that Danny really State chair? Country.
Apparently 88. What's the point of that?
How does that even make any logical sense?
Like it is, this soft get you in the shower and this would be like oh how about? We booked you booked you on
Everest and we here in two years he's a thousand dollars.
Please, thank you. Hi.
I'm here for a new Mustang. Can't get him but there's an
Everest. So there's a range of kicking
around what they could sell you. I have seen that start to
happen. Yeah was the guy tries to close
the Commodores. Okay there's a guy trying to
sell like 400 said and trying to solve for a lot more and he just got absolutely paid out that he turned the comment as off.
I can tell you what I bought this is Uki that whatever make sure they had my license details because a dealer had to actually validate that I was a genius. One buyer to Suzuki Japan, are
you serious? So these cars in something.
Mom is demos for an extra So we kind of put a stop to it every way I can but it's it's been a tough road.
Yeah, I just yeah, I'm really kind of what about the new car industry because like there's some good cars I would buy you know that I knew bit like the three-year wait on a RAV4 hybrid that essentially is going to be the new model of time, you get it and it's going to be I'll be up in price, I don't got it, that's ordered something and it's you it's good opportunity to time since he said, he said it already start the car.
Just doesn't built, you know, like it's at this point really, getting getting getting out of hand.
So I, yeah. Stanley, how they're allowed to
while normal retail can't do any of this stuff?
So what can they correct? Yep.
That's because because that it's I don't know how, I don't know how the laws work with the automotive space.
It's just feels like it's a weird weird situation like they're kind of in their own bubble kind of thing.
Where I mean rob you bought it. You want sold a lot of brand new
cars. And and then That have you found
that body because it was being weird to denseness a buying like a, you know, and there's no of TV in a past, it was great because no issues at all, like said Pre-K, but it's a different world today. You take it or leave it.
There's there's very little haggling, I rang, I would say at least six to eight dealers for the Suzuki as well as the Ford Transit that I bought and they would not imagine price.
If anything don't have gouging on prices and the price that I pay for it was a legit recommended retail price that I paid for it and all the other deals were asking above and beyond, and they wouldn't go below that above and beyond price. That's not how they can do that.
If there's been released of the river adjusted real tell price, How are they allowed to charge that extra for it?
Iced understand as you say, maybe it's like a whole new world. It's like there's recommended
retail price what they should sell some of the the Honda you know, like the whole fixed price kind of stuff makes a little bit, a little bit of sense but like the Honda Solution is just charge a crap ton for the car ahead of time.
So, you know, again like the tie bars while seventy seventy three and a half. So it's just like, you know,
it's gone from what I 50s 273. So, just like, well, you know,
those going to charge more than that but you already paying a craft handle? Yeah.
I mean, it's like, I was looking at the new Type R and, you know, they it's 72 600 I think. And that's like, on the road,
then you don't even give floor mats with the car.
Like, if total the floor mats and you have to get an A You have to get all their stuff and like, there's a carbon fiber Wing option which is like six thousand dollars was unlawful, 16 saying, nobody's gonna pay that like, nobody's gonna buy that and, you know, you might get annoying, someone that something like that. Yeah, I'm really struggling with
this whole year recommended retail because What about the PS? I bought at the recommended
retail. I said I said to the guys or
anything you don't, he's like no, this is.
This is the that's the price that is that.
It's like, you can like like you can go anywhere else and up until you more chill. The same price but that's the
only place you're going to get and you just got to hold your ground. You just have to hold your
ground and walk away. So we have to do And but people
are desperate. Maybe I don't like you because
one it didn't exist yet. There was a maid and if I want a
new one that's what was going to be like, it's just not gonna happen, true. It was most there's no s stock
around him. The three.
The reason why I went for news because second hand, there are more expensive. Are they were bringing so they
knew they had me regardless like it at that point like they were there was there was no getting out getting out of the purchase.
Yeah. Like the early by again but I
think we push for is if you Gonna get it, put your name down, put the deposit down and wait.
Yeah. Like don't don't be the person
that's like all you want one here in the showroom.
It's got 4,000 case on any want for Grand more than what the cost for a new. I'll pay it like again, you
neckl accidentally, tased him again.
And again like yes, you get your car early but I get you paid more for it and it's used like you lost in two kinds of ways.
I'm not that I'm saying that you used cars always bad deal.
It's just it's used cars four thousand dollars more than the brand new car. Yes.
As a bad day, I'm deal by demos do and end up taking, you know, a bit of a ruse. That's a fact.
Sorry. You lose out and warranty.
Yeah. Wear and tear for 4,000, 5,000
kilometers. So, even if you buy attend
15,000 km car, you're still losing a years in in your warranty. So you're losing out and you're
paying more, you just let your frickin way.
Like we say White Lies, get thrashed, the Bulls out of them like they I wouldn't want to delay with 1000 games on it.
Like I'm doing demos like I'd like I sure as hell know but I do know what it's like yeah. When my sister was initially
looking at the gulf and she said, oh there's a demo for sale in Fairfield or something. I wanted to deal with and I said
don't and she's like what do you mean?
She's like it's still a long time like it's under warranty and she likes only four things, get something that's for the hardest test case that the cops were going I have.
It's been running here. Yeah, I'll like, I'll take you
for a test drive. I'll tell you what people do to
the cars, you know, it's not. Obviously again, if it's well
looked after still, I don't think it's going to make a massive difference on the overall life of the car.
But it's it's one of those things that you account for, when you end up paying less for the demo.
Yeah. And if you're paying more for
the demo, all that's gone out the window.
You know, I can see a demo being deposited, new car.
Exactly. Is if they throw in a whole
bunch of extra stuff for you. And like don't like, okay, like
you're getting eating the Extra Protection.
You're getting them out to you. Need this, you getting that?
You're getting your the lounge. Chair optional.
If that ever exists, but you're getting all that eating everything. And I'll be like, Ok, well, it's
got 2,000 case on that. We've been a hard.
There's a balancing, everything else, you know, and I'm not having Spanish or two or three grand, I just can't justify people spend more money than the worth.
For again, I was just actually and then turn around and try to get other people to pay the inflated prices up.
Yeah, yeah. Well There's nothing to eat in
gets going for all of this. I'm sure the government was
going to allow people to buy an import wine importer year be 12 months to bypass all the dealers and by-paths luxury car tax and a whole lot of other things but never eventuated.
Yes, Scott he's shopping for talking about haven't heard any of them. I wonder what happens.
If you buy a car from the UK, for example, right?
Like let's say you will see you over there.
You buy a car and you ship it back and it's like six months, I will be. Did you get the warranty?
Do you like how does that work? Like what it carry over because
it's still technically not that old.
But I guess it would only work if it's all here, right?
Like that. Yeah, so I'm a great import
then, but then, you can only bring over ones that we didn't sell. So if we didn't sell it, if
you're going to get a warranty from, you know, any kind of manufacturer, it was like when the when the gdr the R35 GT-R and that there was a grey Imports nest in Australia didn't want anything to do with them. No, warrant you go.
You want to touch my wouldn't touch him.
And so, so instead he delivered one, yep.
They won't touch them. They wouldn't help that they
didn't want to service it. Nothing.
I wouldn't touch him because I guess that's the other all of a sudden like one as well as yeah. You got to kind of find.
I mean if you obviously with the details is a little more complicated. But I'm sure you could find as
long as you got a reliable mechanic, who's kind of specialize in these kind of vehicles.
I think this Summit in the northern suburbs.
I kind of does that sort of stuff.
Oh no, no the like he's a legit shop but he does like basically Evo's STIs and you know, that sort of thing.
So I'm sure they can Source the past few and how would have the know-how which is the most important thing, the know-how of like dealing with the sort of stuff.
But it's just yeah it's added complexity to something that you know you already usually if you're importing a car for the first time you already out of your depth.
So if those sorts of things are pretty hard to figure out on What would be worthwhile is that if you lived in England, London, Eric 12 months, you bought your car, your personal car, and you bring it back as a private in Port so you can buy a 911 over there for I think they're about that they start around.
Don't quote me. Exactly.
Still. Okay.
Eighty ninety thousand pound for the base model.
So it's about a hundred and sixty seventy thousand odd dollars, right? You can't buy a 911 here at that
base price, right? So that, that's where it would
be worthwhile doing that if you actually over there as a Working over there and bring in the car back.
And it's what you find a lot of the porches and Societies in a past that they expats would bring back and drive around the, a sec is in your cells and all the high-end five cars and your 9/11, which were Imports. And there's a lot around
expensive. Cars are cheaper to buy their
than. Yeah, well cheaper cars are
cheap easy and they are they makes no sense to me like if that's a whole other kettle of fish.
Yeah, Texas for this discussion. I think the first one part first
called top tip is don't pay over sticker simple as that, if you can afford to wait it out, wait it out.
It's a party in the day, it will come.
You can light it up and do it would get rid of your car too early. That's why one of the other
things, if you're out of a car then you're, you know, they weren't for you if you're out of a car and you need a car desperately, they're waiting for you on the council took to do by a demo. More than all the same price as
a new car. Don't buy for scalper.
Yes, but a little get stuck with it.
Let him suffer a bit. Let him squirm but I'm stuff
covered by every day, with what you do cause mustard example.
Well, that's, that's, I think some some good advice, you know, Scotty's got quiz element, can you say for the quiz?
Where you gonna go, I can stay for the quiz.
Sounds good. If a roll Scotty.
So it's going to go on a quiz tonight.
All right. Mom's gonna have to hit the quiz
by himself polyvalent. Yeah, yeah.
Is an enemy, get to take a call. So now it's finally a figure and
I think I'm still looking with. So this one is actually a bit
different. So the theme is, this one is
going to be movies about cars or with cars in them, but the way I've done it, Is for the first question, I'll give you a question that's worth three points, then I'll say it again with the bit more clues and that will be worth two points.
One point some breaking it down. So, very good best you can get
for. One question is three points and
that's going to be obviously the hardest one to get and it will go down to one point. There will be a lot easier for
you to guess I like it. Once you have your guests that's
it. You're out of the running.
So if you want to go for that, Three points and you're pretty confident. All right, all right.
Now, ready to roll. Welcome to Castle go.
After doc podcast time, with I say it's quiz time, special quiz time. I think it was.
Mrs. Gardiner has you like the idea that I'm here?
I hope this works. Alright, so I thought I'd stay
with a bit of a movie theme, but still got to do of cards because most of the movies is about cars.
So I kept it with that. All right.
Question number one, Worth three points.
This movie was released in 1979. There's a quick questions for
you if we get during each time. But if you guys drew the first
like round, let me guess for the last two.
Do you reset or we do you know what I will do?
I would say if you have a guest for that three points and you get it wrong, you can come back in for the one point that not the to. All right, Alan fire away,
Smokey the Bandit. Nah, nobody would think about
math. I want to say the first Corner
seat. Seconds.
Nope, no clues at all. That was the clue here now but
that's 43 points for two points yet.
Okay, alright, okay, alright, so you could hold out for two points now or take, it makes it makes sense because if he doesn't we have to move straight to the one point.
Yeah. So you can't try me for this
month's, this one's all. He is so 42 points.
It was an Australian movie. Running on Empty.
No unfortunately. Right now everyone's back in the
game. This is for one point.
So what we know so far 1979 Australian movie?
This is for one point It stars a 1973, Ford Falcon XB, I was gonna guess it before you said it, I guess the way I've kind of done is the one point is pretty pretty. Maybe I just need to tweak it a
little bit more for next time. All right, question to the three
points this movie was released in 1966 and is all about Motorsport. Really did a Formula One moving
years ago but I can't let me move.
It makes a really old like superhero movie.
I think I don't worry for more clues.
I'm out for the very likewise so we all Want to go for two points. So the main actor that stars in
this movie is James Garner. What don't know who that is.
This isn't helping nothing visualize the some of it but I just can't remember the name of it.
I'm having this one as well. Hmm, not sure if you're going to
get it now. All right, for one point, it's
all about a Formula. 1 driver knows about what were the one
bit and it was James Garner. I do I can visualize.
I just can't remember the name of the movie whatsoever.
Is it is it about Enzo Ferrari? Yeah, I'll Alum is totally
wrong. I'm just gonna say, Rush.
Nah, at least you had to guess, good, guess it's a cold as mad as a called formula. Pardon is?
It called Formula 1. Ah, but you're gonna kick
yourself when you hear it though.
Need something like want any Sunday or something like that but no, it is called Grand Prix. Make sense.
All right, question 3 gets this for like the three points here.
I will give you 50 bucks. Ollie, hurry up.
All right, questions, free for three points at the very end of this movie, The Cars number plate in, this movie is to j.r.
I 424 model car is nothing but so it must be the cars was a 2 J. I4 to j.r., I, for 24 weeks that
way. It's a lie.
He lets the 7-letter don't like American white Patrol.
Mmm, the place like California. So a lot of times there, cubby
be coming back. Geez, I'm going to say I was
just going to take a risk and Furious.
Oh ha ha ha. Well done.
Yes Buzz. Yeah, it was like 50 bucks.
Yeah. When I say
It was on the Super Bowl, the unlike he's dropped off in the zebra on the Dodge Charger. Okay, yeah, cool, cool.
Yeah. Oh yeah.
Alright. Okay, well done.
He scored yourself. Three points.
I want to thank we know, yay, it's a question for.
This is a bit of a, bit of a curveball.
I call this one. For three points, everyone in
this movie. So within the movie, not if
you're just, you know, um, production just part of the movie that this is, if that makes sense.
It's over on in the movie, at the end of the movie, in the end scene, they've all got Corvettes.
Nothing else about the movie, but just seeing the end scene of this movie, Kenneth Pardon Animal Run know at the end this movie, everyone got Corvettes the whole town.
It's not over. Now, two points for two points.
The movie stars. Adam Sandler.
Alan. See, I'm still Happy Gilmore.
Not Happy Gilmore. Unfortunately, he's like a
billionaire, not all I'm gonna say is it right?
