I, um, this hot weather stuff needs to knock it off.
Like, and I know it's only with 70 or something like that, but like, I had the house, like,
I put all the fans away, everything was done, and then, like, that house heats up.
Oh, so.
Oh, yeah, heat in the morning, AC in the afternoon.
Yeah, which you have AC.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So, yeah, it's been, how you been?
Oh, pretty good, busy with work, and you saw those boxes outside?
Yes.
Those are, or plastic bins for that wall back there by the air compressor, where that white
thing is.
I'm going to stack all the, like, that's for power cords, miscellaneous GoPros, all the
miscellaneous stuff I've got that I don't want to get rid of.
Are they clear?
Yeah.
So, you can see through them, so you can see what's in them.
Yes.
Well, I'm going to label them as course, but.
Well, I know that, but I mean.
Okay.
A lot of it's like PC parts, things like that.
So, the organization of the shop continues, and I'm pretty happy about that, because
like, you know, when things have a place, they go in their place.
You have settled back into the idea of being here a year or two, and really made this your
own.
Yes.
And I think it's, this is always what we always predicted in our minds we would get from you,
is this type of environment.
So, it looks amazing.
It looks absolutely amazing.
It's a comfortable place.
It brings you back to.
Yeah.
Okay.
I added more lights.
Yeah.
That one, I'm still tuning.
So, but I've got more of these eight foot LEDs on the ceiling.
Good old Amazon special, but they work awesome.
So, that has a motion sensor on it.
The main one by the door.
Yeah.
So, when I walk in through the side door, it goes on it.
But when it turns itself off, and then it sees the cord next to it, it turns itself back
on.
Right.
And it worked fine before, but I ratted the cord differently, not thinking about
it, because I'm like, well, the cord's not moving.
It shouldn't do it.
No, the cord's directly in front of the motion sensor.
And so, the flash on and off kind of resets it.
Interesting.
It's pretty sensitive.
It just, you know, things you wouldn't, you wouldn't think about.
Well, it is tunable.
It's a smart motion sensor.
So, I'm going to turn it down a little bit and just see it.
Because I don't need much.
It's just coming in the side door.
It picks up right away.
So, just like it's the same one that's on the stairway.
So, yeah.
Oh, could you put one on the stairway?
That way I can see when I'm falling.
Yeah.
That's much better.
So, now you can see yourself falling down the stairs.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
Very nice.
Yep.
So, that's the shop upgrade this week.
And then, yeah, more storage.
Move that over there.
Yeah.
It's looking good.
I washed the R8.
So, it's nice and pretty.
I can tell.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Now that this is like a sealed environment and there's not much dirt going on in here.
It's staying clean, which is nice.
Yeah.
It is really nice.
Yeah.
Good for you.
I mean, it's more progress looking at lifts.
I keep looking at which ones I want to do, but not full height.
No, I know.
I'm aware.
It's just, you know, it's an emotional roller coaster.
It is.
It is.
It's an emotional roller coaster.
But you got jacked.
I did.
My wife.
Oh, God.
I can't say that.
Yeah.
I actually, as it was, my lovely wife found, got me the Badlands, one and a half ton jack
that we were talking about last week.
She, I don't think she even listened to the show, but I had talked about it enough that
she was going to get me the three time.
And I was like, no, no, no, don't do that.
Don't spend the money.
And so I have not used it yet.
I literally, the first time it's going to get used is I've got the new, I guess
they are LEDs that go in the headlights that make my raptor look like a raptor.
Yeah.
This is totally a superficial, stupid thing.
It looks really good though.
It's going to look amazing, but I mean, Ford should have done it from the factory.
It should have been like that forever.
But so I'm really excited about that.
Like I said, it seems like it really, I guess I did use it.
I used it to, I thought maybe she had a flat tire and I jacked up the back of her car
real quick, which is again, on a new jack and things like that.
I took the time, like I usually didn't and don't, well, I do from time to read
the instructions as far as some of the, the where intervals on that, as far as
changing the fluids and things like that every few years.
And I never thought about that.
It's like, yeah, you're paying this much for a jack.
You probably want to keep it.
Yeah.
You know, so I'm going to be, I've got, I've got all that, I've input all that
stuff into my, my, my tool calendar and then so it will come up and tell me
when, when I need to empty the oil.
I'm sure it'll be a ton of hydraulic fluid in there.
So yeah, ounces, ounces.
So that'll be kind of interesting.
Probably just ATF.
They, I think being Harbor Freight, they suggest Harbor Freight, uh, some
time, something.
Pneumatic jack oil or whatever.
I'm sure it's something that's twice as expensive.
Hydraulic jack oil.
And the same thing that you, you know, could get anywhere else.
But yeah, we'll see.
Um, I got to get there.
I think it's two and a half or three years.
I mean, and that's probably in a highway or situation.
So I'm not, I'm not, I'm not using it daily.
Uh, it's not going to the desert.
Well, it might eventually go to the desert, but, uh, nothing right
now.
So yeah, uh, went out this weekend, uh, to the RV show with my
parents, which was live entertainment.
Uh, cause you know, my parents, my mom would love to get a, she wants
a sprinter.
She wants a sprinter van.
And so we were kind of seeing if she would see it and she had a
great time walking around.
But, um, we got a call from Audi, a Belle view that they had
just gotten in some of the new S fives.
Nice.
If you don't know the Audi lineup, there's no four anymore.
It's just the five now.
So you can get the A five and the S five.
Um, wow.
It's a really nice car.
Really nice car.
I love the layout.
I love everything about it.
Uh, I'm, it's, it's going to take a little while.
I think that's where we're going to end up.
In fact, I'm pretty sure if I sent this back in, so we'll see, um,
my, my dad and I were going back and forth cause I really wanted to,
to drive and, and, and go for the new Cadillac,
but he's got this stigma in his head.
And if you don't,
if you don't know the backstory on this, my dad and I, my,
my father's a company.
I've been a vice president since I was, I don't know how old, um,
the company always has a car.
The car is always a fast car cause it's my dad and I and we're
car guys and we had the Maserati before and Maserati lived
its life cycle and now lives up in Bellingham with a lovely new family.
So we're looking for a new car.
And so we've been running around.
And like I said, I wanted, he's like, I don't want to drive a Cadillac.
It makes me feel old.
And I'm like, for God's sake, we're born in 49.
You are old.
Um, so, uh, but it was a lot of fun.
It was, uh, uh, really comfortable car.
It's, I mean, it's one of those things.
I haven't specced a car in a long time.
We didn't expect the Maserati.
It just happened to be there.
Uh, but, um, speccing things, you know,
it's especially with Audi, there's like about three levels that you can spec.
And you can't really play around with stuff.
So it's like, if you want the best of the best, I mean, we're going,
I think we're going to end up with a passenger screen that I don't need,
but I want the package because it's got a bunch of really nice stuff in it.
Prestige with a tech package or executive package.
It's, it's, yeah, proceeds, proceeds.
I forgot the name of it.
I think I know I've been staring at it, but, um, it's just one of the,
and this is not a complaint.
It's just, it used to be in the days where you could go in and you go,
I want this, I want this, I want this, I want this,
and they could kind of mix my, and now it's like you have,
literally there's three options.
Like, I mean, there's a few other things like I added the black,
I did the black.
That looks so much better.
It looks so much like getting rid of all that chrome.
Um, I will say this, um, I did kind of go against the
recommendation of our, of our in-home Audi mechanic,
you know, being a first year car.
But I think, uh, after sitting down at the corporate meeting,
AKA family dinner, I think we're going to lease it first and see if
we like it and then go from there.
Uh, you know, but still, you know, I'll get it when it gets here.
I'll get S tech on it.
You know, we're still going to treat it like a car that we care about.
But, uh, I think, uh, it's forward.
It's, I told you for it could be four to six months,
but then some are saying three months.
So we'll see.
Um, yeah, it's going to be a fun adventure.
Obviously I'll kind of take people along with the process.
Um, I'm kind of excited to, uh, again,
it's been a while since I've done that.
I didn't expect the Ranger.
I didn't expect the Maserati.
I've never expect one of the, the, I guess I kind of ordered the outback,
uh, the wilderness edition, but you know, the irony of that and the fact
that I ordered black and white and my parents bought the white one.
I bought the black one.
So there's not, there was, again, perfect thing on that.
There was one option on that car.
You can either have sunroof or not a sunroof.
Yeah.
Same one on thereafter.
I mean, it was like eight or two.
If you get the 37 package, it's like, do you want a sunroof?
Yeah.
And do you want to spray on bed liner?
Yeah.
And that's it.
Oh, and that you go, if you go up anymore, you're just getting the R.
Yeah.
But those are the only two like real options is the sunroof and the,
and the bed liner.
I mean, there's, and, and I know people are screaming.
There's all the little stupid options like trunk liners and,
and yeah.
Not the dealer installed stuff.
Not that stuff.
So factory.
Yeah.
This is all factoring stuff.
So we'll see, uh, picked a really unique color.
Nobody will be surprised when we see it.
But, um, yeah, it's, uh, so we're kind of starting that journey.
We'll see.
I mean, and it's actually not too bad in the fact that,
and we sold the Maserati a month ago or something like that.
It doesn't, it didn't get a lot of miles in the, in the winter anyway.
So going without a car right now is not a big deal.
I'll just turn up the Subaru.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So she's kind of the preferred vehicle for winter anyway.
And that was the thing is we were talking.
My mom's like, I'd love to get a Porsche.
And she was not, and she doesn't want a two door Porsche.
And the idea is to have a, a comfortable fast car for them.
And for when I do road trips and things like that,
my mom's like, what about it?
Like I'm a conner and I said, you have a Subaru.
Like the Subaru will, will go 10 times more places in the Porsche.
You're not going to want to take the Porsche into the woods.
Like I said, you drive past a tree in the Subaru, you go, oh, whatever.
I said, if you do that in a Porsche, and I said, too,
that is going to take the budget.
And I mean, they're worth it, but it's just not.
Yeah.
You're up and for what they would want.
Outfit and outfitted.
Macan.
Hundred and something.
Yeah.
Plus.
Yeah.
And I mean, and they're awesome.
But yeah, like that's a lot of money,
a lot less leg room too.
Fully loaded.
I think 73.
Yeah.
It's really, it's a lot.
It's still not bad.
It's not, there's not a lot of leg room in the back.
I mean, we're not, you know,
but I'm sure the sheet suits will be fine back there in there.
Right.
Yeah.
That's the important thing.
Well, with mom in the front passenger seat,
that leaves you more room behind you, behind her.
You think, but.
But not much.
Not much.
No.
Well, no, it's just, you know,
my mother and her knee issues and things like that.
She likes to stretch out, which is not,
there's nothing wrong with that.
But it was really interesting.
Like there's just a lot of little quirks and things like that.
Like the signals now, like this is some, some.
Oh yeah.
I got that new signal design signal,
but it's up on the dash.
Like it's not, it's not in your dash.
Like you wouldn't even know it's there.
It looks like a molding on the front of the dash of the windshield.
And I'm, and I was, I'm like, I'm sitting there going, is it on?
And I have a tendency to do that.
And the fact that I always go look at cars when,
when even the salesman really haven't seen it,
like the girl that called us in very nice.
And she's like, I haven't gone through this car yet.
She goes, so I can't tell you a lot.
And I was like, I just need to drive it.
I just need to see what, you know, what it's capable of.
So it was a lot of fun.
And we'll have to kind of see.
It's a pretty car.
Oh, that's gorgeous.
Yeah.
Gorgeous redesign.
I really don't think it's going to have that many issues.
Knock on wood.
Yeah.
But again, new car lease under warranty.
Yes.
Well, I mean,
Audi's had their fair share of issues over the years,
but I like to think they've got most of the kinks worked out.
Well, I mean, I think most of the things,
I mean, the body style changed.
The interior changed.
I don't, I don't think the engine really changed.
Is it still a twin turbo six?
I believe so.
Let's see.
Three liter, I think.
Yeah.
Three liter twin turbo six, I think it is.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Three liter.
Yeah.
So I mean, it's, you know, that's, it's not bulletproof,
but again, it's also not going to,
I'm not rallying it across Europe.
But you know, it's got a decent 350 horsepower,
370 horsepower.
No, my point is that we're not going to beat on it.
Like, you know, so it's,
the one thing I was laughing at in the fact that I did spec it
with 20 inch all wheel tires, all wheels, all season tires.
And they're like, all season, they're only good at the track
up to 130 miles an hour.
And I was like, this car is never going to the track.
So I'm not worried.
Yeah, no.
But it's an interesting that, that, that Audi's, you know,
customer base, they need to put that on there.
Like if we give you these tires,
don't take it to the track over a hundred miles an hour.
Great.
I don't think I'd want to chew through all season tires
with the track either.
So.
They make some pretty good, you know, like the sport,
pilot sport all seasons are really good tire.
Yeah.
But yeah.
I'd rather chew them up on the road than chew them up on the track.
Yeah.
That's really where they shine.
Yeah.
Yeah, I think that's going to be a great choice for them.
Yeah.
It's a really classy car too.
The S5's always looked really nice.
It's a good looking car.
Well, they had had a rental car that was won like about a year
ago when something happened to the Maserati.
And it was a clapped out.
It took a long time to convince the head of the HR
that this was the right move.
It's just like, I sat in that car and it's horrible.
I'm like, you sat in a rental car that was literally slammed
to the ground and it was beat to crap.
Well, if you get the prestige, you got the massaging seats too.
Well, yeah.
I mean, air-conditioned seats too.
Yeah.
So that was nice.
Air-conditioned seats, like I said, that unusable screen.
I think that actually that'll end up being,
my dad and I kind of went back and forth.
I was like, we need the package.
It's going to come with that no matter what.
It's a better deal of everything.
Obviously, I guess there was one other option.
You can do custom leather stuff, but I guess that's not the thing.
So, yeah.
The factory with the air-conditioned seats, though,
it's got that really nice.
It's not quite a diamond stitch.
It's more like a Lamborghini Hexagon stitch look a little bit.
And that looks really good in there.
It's got kind of a flat bottom steering wheel too.
Yeah.
So, yeah.
We'll see.
Cool.
I'm excited for you to get it.
It's going to be a little while, I think.
Still.
It's a good spring present.
Absolutely.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Welcome to spring.
Let's rip it up.
Yeah.
Well, this week's Carter out of a group tip for the week.
Pretty simple one.
It's just, I just want to talk about oil a little bit.
And the forever question of what happens if I use the wrong wheel.
You die.
Your engine explodes.
Your car is dead.
Your warranty is over.
No.
That's not at all.
What happens?
Simple stuff.
It can just cause premature wear if you get the wrong weight in there.
It doesn't have any huge detrimental effects right away.
If you do, like, here's the thing.
A little bit of the wrong oil is a lot better than no oil or low oil.
Right.
And high oil, obviously.
So you don't want to add too much.
But if you've got, if your car runs on 1040, you want to stick with 1040.
If you are in the middle of nowhere and you're a quart low because your Volkswagen
Jetta burns an extra quart or because that engine did.
Yeah.
For a while, like they're notorious for burning like a quart oil between any changes.
You can top it off a 2050 and you'll be okay.
You don't want to leave it in there.
You don't want to do it all the time, but in a pinch, that's fine.
Now that said, there are certain conditions where you would want to change
your oil based on performance stuff.
If you've done a lot of mods to your engine, totally different story.
But RT FM, read the manual diesel oils are to have different
certifications than a regular petrol gasoline engine oils.
Some of them cover both.
Some don't.
Retell is a really popular one for that.
It's again, not going to totally ruin everything and gum everything up.
But if you have, if you keep running a much heavier oil than expected,
you can over time clog up some oil passages, premature wear to PCV valves,
things like that.
So if you have a catch can in your car, you may get,
you may notice more oil in there, but simple as that in a pinch,
fill it up with whatever you can grab, change it as soon as possible,
stick to the roads in the manual, pretty much it.
Two things.
Do you think if you're running the wrong oil on a newer car and you're
doing your own change, is that, and you screw something up,
do you think that would void a warranty?
And could they prove that?
I guess the question.
They can absolutely prove it.
If they believe you added the wrong oil and caused,
like if it was clear that you'd gummed up it,
like you put really like, you know, straight 50 weight motorcycle oil
in an engine that runs 1030, you're probably going to see some issues
sooner than later.
And that could gum some things up big time.
They can test it because they can test oil.
You can send your oil in.
There's independent labs.
You can send your oil in and have it tested to just see where
your engine wear is at.
And they could absolutely do that.
It would probably take a lot.
You'd probably have to give them a lot of signals that you
did that.
Well, I mean, we've seen from some of our friends that,
you know, these companies, and I don't know if it's the
companies or dealerships, it's like, oh, this may not
be covered by warranty, but because you have wire bits in your
car, which means you've done things.
It's just all kinds of.
Yeah.
If you give them reason to look, they're probably going to
look.
But yeah.
The only time I've seen people mix it up a lot is for
motorcycles.
And that's like race conditions or really specific riding
conditions.
Like if you ride, the monkeys are actually a great
example.
Air-cooled motorcycles are a great example because if you
ride in really, really high heat all the time,
like you're taking your bike, you commute around town
with, and then you take it to the desert and you
hold it pinned in every gear for every ride.
You may see some advantages of going to heavier oil
because you're up like 40 degrees over what you
normally would be.
Yeah.
But it's even that is usually listed in your manual.
Like if you look at the Honda owners manual,
they'll be like, hey, you're going to run 1030.
Everything's in the Honda.
Yeah.
The Honda's way more thorough than most people.
And they'll be like, if you're riding in these
temperatures and these conditions, use this
oil.
Okay.
Yeah.
You brought up another issue.
And maybe we want to bring this up as another
thing as far as catch cans because I'm seeing a
lot of, that's a huge modification in the new
Ranger Raptors.
People are putting them on.
I think they're doing it aesthetically.
But like Ford designed it so that that blowback
comes into the, it's meant to come back around.
Yeah.
You can get extra, you can get some additional
carbon buildup with blowback through the engine.
That said, if you change your oil as often
as we do, it's usually not a huge concern
outside of a racing application.
But it's like, it's obviously because I'm
saying, you know, educated in the forums
that people are just, they love, I've got this.
It's great.
And I emptied it ever, you know, and it becomes
this religious thing.
And I'm thinking, now I understand, like I have,
I have changed some of the pipes under my hood,
but it's to make them bigger.
I have not changed the kickbacks and things
like that.
But if you're running at high RPM all the time,
there are some advantages to that.
You know what, let me, let's save it for
another topic.
I'm going to make that a special topic.
That's something I want to read more up on.
Because I've heard both sides.
Some people have said, do not do,
do not put one in because your, your engine
needs it.
And other people say it's fine to do and
Yeah.
Yeah.
Something to think about.
I know almost every racing application
has it.
Yeah.
But so there's good reason there.
But I just don't, in my, when I was like,
They have a catch can or they don't?
They add a catch can.
Yeah.
Like even pro racing teams are running catch cans.
But I remember looking at this one,
I had my C606 and for me, it just wasn't
worth it because I just didn't track the car
enough.
I wasn't running that engine in that
high of an RPM range constantly.
And so I wasn't getting all that blow by
oil coming through.
Well, that's the part that I laugh about
because that's what I've read.
But in most of the people that I'm seeing
doing it, and it's not just in the
ranger community.
Oh, it's all over.
Our people driving to the store and back.
And I'm like, I get it.
You pop your hood and you're like,
that's my catch can.
I got empty.
Like that's great.
I'm going to read up on it.
Yeah.
I'm going to read up on it, come back
and do some research because I like to
give me something to do.
There you go.
Some homework for next time.
I don't want to talk about the oil.
Yeah.
Coming up, it is, let's see here.
This Saturday is your birthday.
It is.
That's why I feel like shit.
You're so much older than me.
So much older.
For like what?
What is it?
16 days?
16 days?
Yeah.
You're 27th?
Yeah.
Super old.
I get that a lot.
Yeah.
I'm starting to feel that.
Like, I'm starting to feel.
I understand it now.
Like, I never thought I'd say
this, but we are middle aged.
Oh, yeah.
We've been middle aged.
We're not going to make it to 90.
What am I kidding?
We've been middle aged for a long time.
So, yeah.
I, you know, I have to say,
I like having my birthday come around
because I use it as an example,
or example, as an idea to get together
and have beers with friends.
But other than that, like,
you know, whatever.
I used to be such a big birthday guy
when I was young.
Like that was so important.
And I think it was more of a
materialistic thing.
I'm talking when I was a kid in 20s, 30s,
last year.
But yeah, but you know,
you want to spend your time hanging out
with close friends and your wife.
Absolutely.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Who gets me.
That's a good thing.
Who gives me nice checks.
So, you know, it treats me well.
Yeah.
Well, yeah.
Happy birthday.
I appreciate that.
My parents bought me a Death Star.
Oh, cool.
I really don't know where I'm
going to put it.
It's huge.
It's awesome.
Oh, yeah.
It's, it better be for that price
point.
But yeah, I, I was, I was laughing
because my mom's, my mom called me
and she's like, we're getting you a Death
Star.
And I was like, well, thanks for
taking the, she's like, well, no,
you need to go get it.
And I was like, oh, okay.
So what's your call, you're
calling me to tell me to go pay
for it.
And then you'll, you'll get back
to me.
She's like, yeah, okay, fine.
So if you don't know, I'm a
huge Lego, the Star Wars guy.
That being said, I have to say
that this is not car related.
My wife got into Legos this
weekend and it went so
quickly.
We went to multiple stores.
She said she wanted to get
Disney figures and then
I think we have now 50.
Yeah.
I've commented on the post
directly.
It's such a nice thing to do.
I was like, that is perfect for
you guys.
I love it.
Laughing.
I loved it.
So something Nick would do.
She goes, you don't mind if
we go around this week into a
couple of stores and I was
like, sure.
I didn't realize we were going
to most of the stores
multiple times.
But yeah.
How fun.
It was a lot of fun.
We were down at Tacoma and
I was hoping to get to
Grios for, it was an October
fest, but I wasn't able to get
there.
So mini fig hunting.
Fun times.
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Have you been out and
have you been out and
have you been out and
out?
No, not really.
I mean, yeah,
Shaun was in New York and
I was hanging out
with the puppy.
So him and I hung out
when everywhere.
But yeah, I've been so
busy with work.
I haven't done much.
It's funny how it gets in
the way.
Yeah.
that we can afford the nice things we don't have.
I was thinking to myself, like,
before I got back into motorcycles,
like when I had them when I was younger,
it was great, whatever, debt.
And then I got back into them and I always thought,
oh, it's weird how people own motorcycles
and they say, oh, I never ride them,
that's why I'm selling them.
And I walk into my garage now and I look at the grom
and I look at the monkey and I was like,
I really need to get out and ride that.
Like, and I realized that it's not a priority
like I thought I was gonna make it to be.
Well, I mean, you've had a lot going on.
I'm just saying like, in my mind,
if anything I'm apologizing to the people
that didn't know I was insulting them
and the fact that I was like,
how could you not be out there riding?
I would be riding every day.
I'm gonna be, and initially when I got the bikes I was,
but like that's one of the reasons why the 450 went
because I just wasn't riding it.
Well, the 450 is a lot bigger of an investment too.
You get the grom and the monkey
are still less than the 450,
even totally outfitted, yeah.
Well, let me not totally outfitted, but close.
It's close.
Yeah, it's close, but yeah, I mean,
I fired mine up the other day
and I took the monkey out for a little spin.
The grom I have not,
but I actually like riding the monkey around town.
It just kind of makes me smile more
because it's a retro style kind of thing.
I think, I mean, I keep saying I'm gonna do that
and probably this winter I need to do oil changes on it
but I'm gonna convert it back over.
I'm gonna put the street tires back on it.
Yeah, that's the my next thing
is street tires on the monkey.
I think that's because that's my run around bike.
I like the grom, but I think it's better for off-road.
Yeah, I'm gonna go with those Michelins.
Are you gonna get new tires?
Yeah, for the grom.
Oh, for the grom, okay.
I mean, excuse me, excuse me, for the monkey.
Yeah, but I hate the factory tires that came with it.
Yeah.
They're just not good tires.
I've never ridden, you go to a really good,
I'm not gonna go to a full sports slick style.
Well, no, there's advantage to that on the street too.
Especially when you don't ride in the rain
and actually you get, it's not just more grip,
it's a better rolling profile
so that really changes the handling characteristics
pretty drastically.
But I'm gonna go to that Michelin city grip,
which is like a very premium scooter tire.
It's not like a, it's not a racing tire.
I'm not worried about wet traction at all,
but it's a very comfortable tire.
It's very predictable.
So it'll make a 20 mile an hour corner
feel like a 35 mile an hour corner.
It'll be taking a 20 mile an hour corner at 35.
I will say, you probably have better suspension
on your, we have better suspension on our monkey
than most people do on their super sport bikes.
I'm not even kidding.
I, how many times have we been places
and people are like, is that all in suspension?
I was like, yeah, front and rear.
They're like, why?
And I'm like, because I'm big
and I want to enjoy this bike
and I'm not, if I go get a big bike,
I'm gonna do something stupid.
So, yeah, but by far, and I say it,
we said it a hundred times,
my favorite road on the monkey
is this road heading down to Dirt Fish.
Just the three little curves.
It's super fun.
It's perfect.
I mean, and I've gotten really good at riding that road, but...
Yeah.
And even if you're hauling butt
and there's a cop around the corner,
you're like, oh, I'm going too over.
Yep.
I don't know how fast I'm going
because I haven't calibrated my wheels to my speedometer.
So, yeah.
Yeah. Look at all of that.
Oh, anyway, I was gonna ask you though
because you've got this coming up.
You've got some cool, you got your jack already.
Harbor Freight's having their big sale right now
for a bunch of stuff.
Yeah, I think that starts,
well, it will have started Friday the 9th
or the 10th.
But Black Friday's coming up.
I mean, it's a month and a half away,
but we've got Amazon's doing their big Prime Day stuff.
There's a lot of good sales incoming right now.
Is there anything on your list this year?
There is on mine.
Well, I mean, it's funny
because a lot of things that I don't realize
are on my list.
I end up talking to you
because you kind of are better on that pulse.
I think I'm really...
I'm kind of done with the truck.
I'm not done like getting rid of it,
I don't know what else I want to do.
I've thought about putting the Molly panels in the back
just for storage and things like that,
but then I'm increasing the event of somebody
cutting that top and stealing stuff.
So I don't know if there's much there.
I mean, it's kind of been built to the...
That build went faster than any other build I've ever done
and my credit card statements say it,
but there's not...
I will definitely be looking at a lot
of the Milwaukee tools.
I think I want to look into some of those.
Which ones?
Well, the new blower,
the new, it looks like they're impact gun,
but it's a blower.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Just like forgetting dust and stuff out of the car.
Yeah, it is handy, actually.
They had a bunch, I was watching the Milwaukee,
what's it called?
It's like their packout show
where they invite all their people
and they show all the new tools and stuff like that.
And again, Milwaukee's gotten out there
in a ton of like,
lawn equipment and things like that,
which I don't need.
But I think, I mean, I definitely eventually,
it's a use, it's already a tool that you have.
I want that extended neck.
Oh, the in reach.
Through in reach ratchet with fuel.
I'll be looking for that on, you know.
I think it's great.
That Black Friday deal that Home Depot does
where you buy something, get something free.
I always end up with a battery or something like that.
And then like last year, I got the leaf blower,
which has been amazing.
I have used that so much, it's been great.
But I don't, it's funny because, I mean,
I'm blessed to have a lot of the things I want,
probably because I don't wait.
But I don't have a lot on my list.
I'm gonna, I need to get a couple of little things
for my barbecue, I think.
But like, I wanna, I got a new, I got the smash thing,
but I need to get one of those little like.
Cheese dome?
Is that the cheese dome?
Is that what it is where you put it over
and it kind of, you know,
you can kind of keep the steam
and everything in there.
Cheese dome.
Must have.
Yeah, one of those.
I don't, you know, but there's not a lot like.
No car stuff on the list.
I don't know what, you know, like,
I don't, I put, I just put a front and rear camera
in Kate's car.
I need, I do need to do a dash cam in the truck.
Oh, those are on sale right now.
Yeah.
That's probably something that I should do
just for insurance and things like that.
For most people, the A3, 29 and 29,
the latest VFO, isn't that much of a huge upgrade
over the 229?
So there's a really good deal on those right now
for like 200 bucks with their SD card,
which you do want theirs, by the way.
Their hard wire kit, their anti-glare filter
and front and rear, I think it's,
I think it's only, it's less than 200 bucks.
And that's a really good deal.
I do want to say this is a side note to a side note,
like as I was installing her rear camera.
If you're going to do that yourself,
one, disconnect your battery.
I did all this, by the way.
Two, most people are going to run their wires
along the top of their windows and the headliner.
You need to tuck those behind the airbags
because if they're in front of the airbags,
I was running a wire and I thought,
I was like, I had gotten it back there
and I pulled it and it fell in front of it.
And nothing happened, obviously,
but it's just something to think about
like when you're doing installs
or if you're going to have it installed,
make sure to bring that up to your installer.
I want to make sure these cords are hidden
and two, I don't want them interfering with the airbags.
Because that's a big thing.
If that airbag goes off and that cord is there,
it could stop it, which could stop something from.
Yeah, it'll just deform it a little bit.
It should just blast right through it.
Airbags are strong.
But yeah, you don't want to find out the hard way.
I don't want to find, you know, but yeah.
So what's on your list?
Obviously, you've got a pretty,
you keep a pretty active list of things.
Yep, so. Especially with this going on.
Yeah, well for car stuff,
it's going to be a new radar detector.
I've got the R7 still in the F-150 and it's fine.
It works great.
I mean, the only reason I want to upgrade to the R8
or the R8W either one is fine
is because the mute button's on the front
and versus on the side.
Oh, okay.
And it's just harder to get to.
And you just, you tap it a lot.
And so that's just kind of annoying.
And I want the Bluetooth access for the R8 app,
for the unit and app, which is actually pretty useful.
What are you doing in the app?
Just changing modes.
You can mark signals,
things like that.
It can do, if you have a W,
you can do firmware updates over it.
So just so I'm clear,
your radar detector goes off that there's a cop.
You then get on your phone and hit the alert.
That sounds safe.
Just like Waze.
I get so many rewards every week from Waze.
It's not funny.
Like 600 people, thank you.
But yeah.
Okay.
Yeah, so the radar detector's a big one.
That I can wait for Black Friday for.
Yeah.
Boy, what else?
That's the, that's the big one.
Dash cam as well.
And that is a big one.
Radar detectors are not cheap right now.
No.
It's even on sale like 750, I think,
is what the R8W was going for.
And Black Friday, it should get into the fives.
If it's correct.
That's a couple of good tickets.
So I mean, that's, it's worth it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So I'll be looking for that.
That'll probably be the biggest one.
Probably new tires for the R8.
And yes, those do go on sale.
Oh.
Yeah.
So they sometimes will do a buy three, get one free.
Or we have, I mean, we have our advanced discount.
Obviously that's a huge win as it is.
Plus the discount, or the discount tire discount.
Exactly.
And you can't stack those.
Yeah. You can't stack those.
So I'm hoping that'll come back.
We'll see that around.
See if that comes back around.
I think there's some tools.
I actually sold on my tools the other day.
You sold some of your tools?
Yeah.
To Michael Smith.
Oh, well that doesn't count.
Yeah.
He bought my, my old half inch high torque impact
because I got the biggest one now.
Yeah.
But so I wasn't using the other one as much
and then I've got, I've got like three impacts
in half inch.
So it was like, I don't need this one.
And then I sold them a buffer as well actually.
Cause now that I have three buffers instead of four.
They have three?
Yeah. I have the wireless one and then I have small ones.
And we have our two griot ones.
Yeah. The detail buffers.
Yeah.
It's what I was counting on.
Oh, okay. Yeah.
Okay. Yeah.
It was like, yeah.
So next that.
Dan and I share buffers.
That's true.
Trying to think.
Look at the car stuff should I be getting.
Oh, I don't know.
Oh, the big thing.
Yeah. There is one more.
The big one I'm looking out for is bought a design sale
because I want to get front lights for the Raptor
and I want to go big on the F-150.
I thought you weren't going to do anything to this Raptor.
I'm not doing like the big stuff.
I know the way I'm trying to do that,
but I am doing lights.
So.
I just like to give you crap cause.
It's well-earned.
I deserve the crap.
I'm getting rid of my lift.
I'm thinking about getting a lift.
Fair enough.
A different lift.
Well, it's fair.
That's fair.
It's.
I think what the Black Friday I'm looking for
is a trip to Moab.
I think if those go on sale, then that's what I need.
That is a good time to go.
Yes.
That's the best time to go.
Yeah.
The town basically shuts down in November.
And so if you can get there late October,
it's a lot quieter.
The trails are open.
It's very comfortable.
Not in so much heat.
Not so much dust.
Some occasional flash floods, but you know,
those are fun.
I had somebody share my video of Hell's Gate with me
or with somebody else shared the video in the raptor form.
Oh, some guy did this.
And I was like, yeah, I know that guy.
He's insane.
He almost killed a girl trying to get there.
So.
I actually saw a video of a lady who has a new gen.
It's gen two or gen three F-150 raptor
and they filmed her coming down into there.
And I know exactly what I did now.
I know exact.
I'm fully prepared for next time
not to try to almost kill ourself.
Yeah.
You're welcome, Megan.
Yeah.
Speaking of Brian Eilich's birthday is also this month.
Yeah.
Shout out to him.
Are you going to help us celebrate up in the mountains?
I'm going to try.
Yeah.
I don't know if I'll be around that weekend,
but I'm going to want to be.
Well, I mean, is that the weekend?
No, that's two weekends before yours.
Yeah.
Your birthday.
Yeah, okay.
You got any fun plans?
I was going to go to Montana and pick up some meat.
But my old friend, Jesse Teague,
which I think I met once,
it's his wedding that weekend and I wouldn't miss that.
So I'm going to go up to Lake Stevens to see him
and celebrate him and his new wife.
Awesome.
Yeah.
So I'm looking forward to that.
And then that's pretty much it.
I still might go to Montana,
but you know, got work schedules to go around,
things like that.
I mean, you can always, oh God.
I can't, we've probably driven to Cleolum
two or three times just to get steaks from.
Oh yeah, the butcher over there.
Yeah.
Yeah, they're better over there.
Yeah.
I'm saying if you can't make it to Montana,
go to Cleolum, yeah.
Well, what, I go to Montana
because I want their smoked beef ribs.
I know where you want it.
It's the same place where we got meat
when we went to Wyoming, right?
Yeah.
Yeah, okay.
I understand where you go.
That's amazing stuff, yeah.
Yeah, it's not that far.
It's an easy day drive, like really easy.
But do I want to do it there and back in Cannonball?
That's, I'd rather take like some time
and go find like a really nice restaurant over there.
If you're getting meat in that, yes.
That's a, I mean.
Yeah, but it's harder to put the cooler in the R8.
And the dog gets nervous in the R8.
Oh, yeah, you don't want that.
Put them in the cooler.
He's usually fine.
It's just that, you know, G-Force is in small boats.
Oh, I understand.
I understand, yeah.
Lola hates being in the triumph.
That's very low G-Force, so.
Same thing, yeah.
Yeah, for our listeners out there,
let us know what you're looking forward to
for Black Friday.
Yeah, what's on your list?
What's kind of for Christmas?
I want to know all that stuff.
What's new?
Oh, I also, there's a bunch of new,
GoPro didn't release a new camera this year.
At least not, I'm not a hero.
They didn't do a 14.
They did the Max and some other one nobody wants.
Yeah, but they're getting beaten up.
DJI's beating them.
Yeah, DJI's out there though.
And so I might get a new action camera
for hardwiring into the Bronco.
Oh, nice.
As we use that more,
it's fun to record those adventures, you know?
I know what I wanted to tell you.
I don't know if you've noticed this or not.
It used to be when you had Starlink in your truck,
you didn't have to be on the network
to see if it was connected and things like that.
And that has now changed.
I even opened a ticket with Starlink
because in order for your app to work
and show you if your satellite is connected
other than just going in and looking at the Wi-Fi,
you used to be able to open the app
and it would say, okay, yeah, your Starlink is connected,
but you weren't connected to the Starlink.
But now they have the aggression.
Yeah, unfortunately, it kind of sucks,
but I figured out what I'm going to do is basically,
instead of checking it on my phone,
I'm just going to put the app on the iPad that I use
and then I can just check it that way.
I mean, obviously I can go into the menu
and see if Loki pops up, then I'm good to go.
Oh, speaking of bullet point solutions,
that I know Tacform is right behind them
has put out an official Starlink adapter mount
which goes into the Starlink Mini
and then has like a ball option or a clamp option
directly from them though.
It's like for your windshield?
No, like for the dash mount, so you could hard mount it
right to one of their dash mounts.
Oh, nice, okay.
And so if you want the cheap and easy way
to do a Starlink Mini, speaking of which,
Starlink Minis are back on sale for $2.99
and they probably will be through the end of the year.
Buy them, trust me.
Yeah, if you've been thinking about it, they're great.
Cost me, it literally cost me $10 a month
and I have, I mean, I've used it in places
you will never even imagine.
That said, they don't ever change your playing
because they got rid of the $10 a month.
Well, did they?
Yeah, now it's $5 for standby
and then you have to re-up it to use it.
So we got a lot better deal of $10 a month.
Just can't change your plan.
That'll come back.
Yeah, I hope so.
A lot of people complained about it.
So they're usually, I don't know,
they change stuff up all the time
but either way, the connectivity is worth it.
What was the last thing?
Oh, it's the end of the season, of course.
So no more exotics are out in town center.
Unfortunately, they've officially announced
they're done for the season.
So we look forward to them coming back next year.
Missed out a lot this year.
SSC was there, like they had some pretty insane car show up
as they often do, but the bar keeps getting higher,
which is pretty cool to see locally.
It's nice to see SSC on the road.
Like, I mean, that tutorial has taken 10, 15, 10, 12 years.
Building hypercars is not easy.
Jared has put some time and work into that
and I was talking to him about it the last time I saw him
and we were talking about when they brought
the exterior prototype no engine to museum of flight,
museum of flight, like 15, 11, 12 years ago was amazing.
So yeah, and now they're driving them everywhere.
They're made a huge hit in Monterey.
So I'm really happy to see the hometown guys.
Yeah, yeah.
Yep, and then, yeah, read the last blog
from Exotics at Redmond.
There's some stuff in there about Tom who, you know,
he really was the driving force behind getting that started.
And even though he's more behind the scenes now,
he's going through some stuff and, you know,
respect and credit where it's due.
Tom has done absolutely a ton
for the car community in the Northwest
and kept that show pretty much one of the,
I mean, in my opinion, the best weekly show
in the country, hands down, nothing else even comes close.
All these other shows have gotten shut down.
All these other shows have terrible relationships
with the local community and the police
and Exotics is the polar opposite.
It's like, you know, police police come to Exotics
to hang out, they volunteer.
Like they have an extremely good relationship
that has been a ton of effort over the years
to maintain and keep going.
And a lot of that has been due to tight controls.
And so for all the armchair critics out there
who can't get into the show, you know, screw you.
Because Tom would say the same thing.
Yeah, Tom would say the same thing.
And yeah, he's been going through some stuff and yeah.
Yeah.
Well, it's for him.
Yeah.
You know, okay.
Well, I mean, I think that's a good wrap up.
Yeah, I think so too.
So, you know, for this episode
of the Advanced Podcast, as always, I'm Nick.
And I'm Dan and don't just get there.
Enjoy the drive.
