On this week's episode, we're going to be congratulating Kia Arland

on 10,000 sales, first time ever crossing it in a calendar year.

New MG dealer appointed in Mayo, the Škoda ENIAC 130.

What's all that about?

In the UK, last week's budget saw a three pence per mile for EV drivers

going to come in in 2028.

We're going to have a chat about that.

The Siamese stats for November 2025.

The Society for the Irish Motoring Industry came out today.

Also today, we attended the launch of the Opel Frontera.

Last week, I was driving the X-Peng G6 when I was on the way down

to the new market X-Peng launch event and did a video

with the weekend talking about this versus the new one and the value

that could be had and speaking of events, I'm going to be up in

cavern with Blackstone Motor Group Blackstone Motor Group on

the December, the 11th at their EV event, education event.

And we're also going to be looking at that.

Even though we're going to have the Nissan Leaf.

As mentioned at the top of the running order, Kia have achieved

10,000 sales in a calendar year.

It's a milestone moment for the Korean carmaker in the Irish market.

Kia is now the fifth best selling car brand with 8% market share

in Ireland and the 10,000 vehicle register was in County West Mead

down in Kia Slater, further growth plan for 2026.

Thanks to the new product offensive.

So press release came out on the 27th of November.

Reaching the 10,000 annual sales figure is a testament to Kia's

strategic efforts and customer focused approach, said Ronan Flood,

the managing director of Kia Ireland.

This achievement is thanks to our fantastic dealer network

who worked tirelessly at a local level to enable the best

possible customer satisfaction, which ensures repeat custom

to allow such an achievement.

So launched in 1944, the South Korean brand began selling

cars in Europe around the 1990s, with the first vehicles arriving

in Ireland in 2001, so 25, nearly 26 years ago.

Kia Ireland launched a subsidiary, hard to say it,

of their European headquarters in 2004 and have shown

significant annual growth ever since the earliest available

sales data from the society for the Irish motor industry

comes from 2027, 2007, 2007, where Kia registered

3,845 vehicles and finished 15th in the manufacturer sales

with a 2% market share.

In that year, 51% of sales came from petrol vehicles

and 49% sales came from diesel, with hatchback sales

being the most popular body style.

So far in 2025, Kia have achieved over 10,000 sales

thanks to 9,802 passenger cars and 201 car derived van sales.

Today, Kia sits in the fifth position, as mentioned already,

and possesses 8% market share.

The breakdown of that at the moment is that 29% of their sales

come from BEV, full electric, 19% plug-in hybrid,

19% diesel, 17% hybrid and 16% petrol.

SUV being the most popular body type accounting for over

60% of sales a year to date.

So, congratulations to the 10,000 vehicle registered by Rockwell

Engineering and Slater Kia and Mollangara County, Westmead.

Rockwell Engineering is an Irish mechanical contracting firm

who purchased two EV4s from Slater Kia to add to their growing

electric fees.

So, congrats to Ronan, Kia Ireland, Kahl, Head of Marketing

and PR, their great achievement and slow and steady wins the race.

So, congratulations to Kia.

And they're a milestone there.

Next up, we have the Ratchford Motors joining the MG Network

as the new West of Ireland dealer.

So, MG Motor Ireland expands its national network

to appointment of Ratchford Motors.

In Balihona's County Mail, a town I know very well.

My goddaughter is based up in Turin,

so right beside Balihona, so I go through it on a regular basis.

So, Ratchford Motors is the latest addition

to the growing national dealer network.

Appointment threatens MZ presence in the West of Ireland

with the family run dealership now serving customers

in Mayor Roscommon, Leitrim and Sligo,

Gerard Rice, Managing Director of MG Ireland,

welcome to the new partnership,

a couple of weeks ago, we,

and I never talked about it on the podcast,

but Lee from Spirit, Skoda in Sandyford, Skoda.

My colleague Leem in the office

winds me up every time I say it.

They have a Skoda Enyak 130.

It's a limited edition to the Irish market of 130 units

and what we have is a sunroof.

It's a trim level in essence,

but it has gorgeous cream leather,

selling like hotcakes Lee and Spirit Auto was saying

and he can see the nationwide picture

and so I got in to have a quick look around

and that is up on the YouTube channel

if you're interested in seeing that.

If you're thinking about Skoda

and you're just going,

do you know what,

I wouldn't mind something a little bit special

or there are only two color interiors.

There's the gray slash black and the cognac one.

And so this one has a nice cream leather interior.

Beautiful color, nice alloy wheels.

So yeah, just a couple of different bits

with that sunroof as well.

So nice to see it.

Last week I was in Spain at the BMW IX3 media drive.

I'll be chatting about that on next week's podcast.

But while we were there,

I was chatting to somebody from Carawa,

not Matt Watson, his colleague,

and he was rushing off.

He was getting the lunch into him.

He says, I've got to go.

The Rachel Reeves is announcing the end of year budget

for the United Kingdom.

And it was, will we or won't we get pay per mile

for electric vehicles?

And the technical term is RUC, a road usage charge.

And what it's going to be in the United Kingdom from 2028,

it's going to be three pence per mile.

And it is done then by,

when you bring your car back for your MOT,

which is like our NCT,

it would calculate what the odometer has on it

and then give you an understanding

as to what your charge will be.

They've worked it out in the UK.

It's still cheaper to run an electric vehicle

even with this RUC road usage charge.

Road, yeah.

Pence per mile setup.

They've tried it in a couple of states in Australia.

They've tried it in a couple of states in America.

In America, you actually have to drive up

to a kind of a boot,

pull out a cable for your OBD2 port

and plug it in and then it reads from your car

as to what your mileage is

and it gives it a print out.

A couple of videos up on YouTube about it.

Will we get it here?

Will we not?

It's going to be interesting to see

what the government do.

They're obviously looking at other markets

as to see where the,

y I was chatting to 96 FM and Cork

about how the government are going to

be able to balance the books

when we don't have the excise duty on petrol or diesel

when everybody goes electric

and really I was saying to the DJ there, Declan,

that you're not just saving,

the government aren't recuping taxes

but they're also saving on the long term effects

for our healthcare, et cetera, et cetera environment.

So that health side of things

and the healthcare system

when there's zero tailpipe emissions,

you've got to take in that bigger picture as well

but I appreciate that taxes need to be collected.

So whether it comes in here or not,

interesting to see how it rolls out

across the United Kingdom.

If I'm not mistaken,

we're still on track to do

zero tailpipe emission vehicles from 2030

which is only four years away,

right hand drive,

European Union is 2035.

You won't be able to buy a petrol or diesel

because it does emit from the tailpipe.

Now, solid state battery, e-fuel, synthetic fuel,

all of these things hydrogen

will give you a zero emission vehicle,

not just electric vehicle.

So there are some other things out and about there

that will work with you on that.

Next up, we are chatting about the November 2025 sales numbers

from the SIMI,

the Society for the Irish Motor Industry.

EV's down for the first time in over a year

by 32% we're going from 384.

This November, I was 511 last November.

That was only less than 150 vehicles

but I haven't seen too much of a media pickup on it yet.

I thought there'd be a bit more and fair play to the SIMI.

It was like EV's are still having a really good year,

small dip in November, November, December.

People are usually buying cars here last year.

And this year the number one selling car

across all vehicles sales is Tesla.

They do everything out of sync

with regards to their sales cycle.

It's end of month, end of quarter.

There'll be another big push for people to register

252s, model-wise, model-3s,

so that they can hit their sales targets

rather than the 25261 waiting period.

There I was scrolling my phone

then someone cracked open a Mountain Dew Baja Cabo Citrus.

Next thing I know I heard a rip.

My friend tried the splits and jeans

but not a drop was spilled.

Have a blast with Mountain Dew Baja Cabo Citrus,

a punch of tropical citrus flavor.

The pHVs are actually up for November by 9%.

Petrol down by 23%, diesel down by 25%,

hybrid down by 34% versus November last year.

Electric was the most popular fuel type overall

for November if you're taking sales

at a macro level.

In November, 57% of vehicles sold

had a plug socket on it and over 40%

of those being fully electric.

Year on year EVs are still up 37%.

EVs are still more popular than diesel so far

and PAHVs plug in hybrids are up 52%.

Top five models for 2025 November

were the Tesla Model Y in first position,

the Tesla Model 3 in second position,

the Shkoda ENYAC in third position.

Would that have been helped by the ENYAC 130?

Fine care but some people are waiting

for that 261 Hyundai in star in fourth position

and the Ford Explorer in fifth position.

So good to see it and a variety of EVs

across the year and across the sales,

the different makes and models.

It isn't being dominated by one particular maker model.

The today then we are also at the Opel

from Terra Irish launch, a phenomenal car

and the value so comes in two battery sizes

a 44 kilowatt hour and a 54 kilowatt hour

and it comes in three different trims

and with those trims then you are getting prices from,

let me pull up my notes, 24,000,

if I'm not mistaken, 24,606, yes,

for the electric entry level SC.

So that has a smartphone holder

but WLTP of 305 kilometers real world probably 240.

So 240 kilometers, brand new car

with a five year unlimited warranty,

unlimited mileage warranty for 24,606,

cruise control, lane keep, speed sign recognition,

steelies, but you know what, 16 inch nice and comfortable,

LED headlights with automatic high beam.

If you want to start working your way up

then they do have a mid level trim

and then an upper level trim

is the one that I had on the video

and so that will have gone out last night.

So if you want to see,

there'll be a link in the YouTube channel

but mid level trim is elegance at 26480

and then the upper level trim is the GS.

So it's got two tone black roof,

park pilot sensors, front and rear roof rails,

17 inch alloy wheels, power folding,

side mirrors, blind spot, LED tail lamps and fog lights

and that's for 28,354.

And so for under 28,400 you're getting top trim

44 kilowatt-hours.

Now the 54 kilowatt-hours

is going to have a 400 kilometer range.

Again, same trim levels

but that will be coming in 2026

and so the walk will be slightly more on that.

So the video if you're interested in the frontera,

all electric comes in a couple of powertrains as well,

Last week I was driving the X-Pong G6,

the pre facelift version

and it was down in new market motors.

Thanks very much for having me down there

to do the launch of the dealership.

But they're selling the original one

that we only got at the start of this year

but had already been updated in China for 39,990

and I've got a video up on the channel

just talking through some of the differences,

aesthetic differences, charging differences

and I think it's a real value proposition at that price.

You can wait for the new one in 261

and it'll be 45,000 or 44,000 odd

but for that 5,000 euro walk

I actually think this is a better care.

I think it's better put together

but I have to try the new one

but from the research I was doing on the pre facelift one

it looks like it's getting a lot of attention,

a lot of interest for what it is

and the price that it is

and so X-Peng G6 video

already up on the channel as well

and talking through and lots of conversation

as to whether people would go for that one

o no, for the new version of it.

Last but not least, we are going to be at the Blackstone Motor Group

up in Cavern on the 11th of December

for their EV education event.

It ties in with the Nissan Leaf Roadshow

that they're going to also have there.

They're going to have some 261 offers

across Dacia, Renault, Nissan and Opel
