LIVE
Hello, everybody, and welcome back to a very different video, a P1 extra video, in fact, because
we felt like we needed to do a little update, because I believe we might have done something.
I think we might have done something.
We did a thing.
We won an auto and sport award.
Yes, there are lots of fingerprints.
A lot of people wanted to hold this this evening, and it's very heavy.
I mean, Tommy, come on, you can get some serious biceps from that.
Yeah, crazy.
Oh, my God.
Honestly, guys, guys, I don't because the camera might fall off.
So I'm just going to hold it, hold it, hold it.
We are in, we're in shock.
We're in big shock.
It's so funny, the amount of people that go, of course, you were going to win.
What do you mean, of course, we were going to win?
There were so many awesome creators that could have absolutely and did deserve to win this
trophy.
And for any of you that didn't know, so basically went to the Autosport Awards this evening
at the Roundhouse, which is near Camden in London.
And they added an award, didn't they, for this year, Creator of the Year, which opened
up for us to be nominated.
And then you came in your thousands to vote for us to win.
Right, so let me do the play-by-play, right?
So Brandon, who is a full-time formula that you might have seen here, he went and did the
entirety of the calendar last year on a budget.
He's doing a full season this year as well.
He went up and did the announcement, didn't he, and so he was presenting the award for
Creator of the Year.
He went through all the nominations.
And then the minute I clocked it, and Tommy, you didn't, I mean, we were both
basically having a heart attack at this point.
I was saying that.
The winners are winners, plural, we're two, like literally the basics.
My brain was not alone enough.
You picked up on that.
My hands were just pools of sweat.
I felt like I was going to be sick.
Yeah, literally.
And I was so nerve-wracking.
Yes, so nerve-wracking.
And then, yeah, as soon as they said our names, I had the same fear I had in
graduation of, like, can I walk?
Like, you know, when you think about walking, am I going to fall over in front
of all these people insane, like January at the most insane moment?
Yeah.
I just still can't believe it.
Yeah, it's very late at night.
I wonder if we just heard a noise from next door in the hotel because they can
hear us doing a debrief on the podcast.
Believe it or not, we'll finish this and wrap it up reasonably quickly.
So yes, so he said, and the winners are, and went, Matt Gallagher and
Tom, and I was like, I'm going to have a heart attack.
Like, I've not felt nerves like that in a very long time.
He's walking up to the stage and Greg James is presenting.
He gives us a handshake.
You've got so many, like, greats of Formula One in that room, like, utterly ridiculous.
The table was like, like, when we walked, we've not even mentioned, like, when
we walked in, we did, like, the red carpet.
We did, yeah.
And, you know, us two plebs barely leaving our bedroom.
They're like, right, you walked down the red carpet, you're a nomination,
blah, blah, blah.
And there's Jean Todd and Sir Jackie Stewart there.
And it's like, I'm not pushing them out of the way for them to take a picture of
two YouTubers, like, no, no, but I appreciate it.
And then, yeah, like, when we got up on stage, I was, like, scanning the room and
as well, like, Lando Norris was there to collect a lot of awards, one of lots of
awards, of course, and I clocked him and he was just, like, beaming,
his smile, which was lovely because we've obviously known Lando for a long
time.
We have, yeah.
It was like, I am, I'm on stage in front of all these people.
People have watched the world champions looking at me and smiling, all these
drivers and people that we've seen in our entire lives.
And you're going to tell an amazing story in a bit about one of them.
Yeah.
And it's just like, this is so surreal.
Like, it would never not be surreal doing this kind of thing.
Yeah.
So if you want to see, like, our acceptance speech, it's on, it's on
Instagram.
I think we accepted it as a collaboration with Motorsport.com.
So go and check that out on Instagram if you want to.
But yeah, the story, the story.
So of course, you know, we accepted our award myself and Tommy, then we
left to have some pictures taken.
We had an interviewer on Autosport.
But one thing I really wanted to do, because Ross Braum was there, he
received a really special, like, award.
It was a gold medal.
Gold medal, yeah.
And he was there.
And it's almost like one of the first core memories I have and
probably is actually of seeing someone from the F1 world when I was
a lot younger.
Some people will have heard this story maybe when we live streamed,
but essentially I used to work at a sort of bookstore called W.H.
Smith back when I was literally, I must have been 18 years old, I think.
I'd just come out of school, no idea what I wanted to do.
And I just got, like, a part-time job at W.H.
Smith.
And I remember, honestly, I was on the tills and a man walked in.
And I was like, that guy looks a little bit like Ross Braum.
That's a bit weird.
And then looked again, I was like, oh my God, that is Ross Braum.
And he just walked in.
Anyone that doesn't know the context as well, you are like
Dihard Michael Schumacher.
Dihard Michael Schumacher, Ferrari, and of course Ross Braum
in charge of Ferrari at the time.
He walks in and I'm like, and I immediately communicate to
every single other colleague in the building to not come
anywhere near the tills.
I don't care how long of a line it is, I am serving Ross Braum.
And I just remember, like, eventually he got whatever he was
going to come in for.
And then, obviously, I served him because nobody else was on
the till.
And I just remember being like, hi Ross, I'm a massive Michael
Schumacher thrive.
And how do you think you're going to do Brazil this weekend?
And like, it was a really wholesome conversation.
And it was short as you do with sort of transactional
conversations.
And it was really nice.
And so I went up to him.
I was kind of nervous.
I was like, I don't know if I want to do it.
And Tommy, thank you.
Tommy pushed me to go and say hello.
So I did.
I said, hi Ross, with trophy in hand.
I had some credit in the bank.
Or a farming with your trophy.
No, I do not link with aura.
But I went up to him and said, hi Ross, I just wanted to say,
shook his hand as well.
I was like, shake both hands.
Shook his hand and then basically said, the story
that I just told you.
And he was kind of like smiling along.
Someone actually filmed me speaking.
Hannah spoke, saw me speaking and filmed a bit of it.
I don't know if we'll be able to figure it out.
As long as we get the footage, if not,
we'll show you another time.
But just to have that interaction.
It was so wholesome.
It was so like he was probably smiling away at the time.
The story is he was genuinely like, this is really wholesome.
And it's like asking whereabouts it was and stuff.
Yeah, it was like, whereabouts?
I was like, I told him.
And yeah, it was just crazy.
It's such a cool interaction to have.
So again, like another sort of core memory.
But this, winning this, I just want to say,
if you did vote for us, thank you so, so, so, so, so, so much.
Because this is a night I will never forget
for the rest of my life.
You know, I said in the speech, my heart is racing.
I am not joking.
I nearly passed out.
My heart was beating out my chest.
I was like, there are so many important people in this room
and I am suddenly screams about Charlotte Clair doing badly.
Yeah, exactly.
Like it is insane.
Like I can't say enough.
Like I said it in my speech of like, you know,
we are just two Formula One nerds that just love the sport.
And I'm glad that it comes across that way to so many people.
Like so many people came up to us at the awards
and were like, you know, I love hearing people saying
like, you're the voice of the fans.
Like I'm a fan, you represent me and they feel that.
And that is like, definitely like one of,
one of, if not the most special thing to hear.
And yeah, to get an award like what, what, what.
This will not soak in for a very long time.
This is truly so special.
You can probably tell with this reaction video,
we don't really know what to say.
We just wanted to come with you, come to you
in our little bow ties at 1 a.m.
quarter past one in the morning to just give you a little rundown,
give you a little brief of what happened tonight
because it was just so good.
The food was amazing.
Just, I mean, like three years ago, we started P1.
You know, I said this in the speech as well of like,
we didn't know how this was going to go.
We took a massive leap into the unknown.
You guys came with us and supported us so just passionately
and it enabled us to be where we are today.
So I think, yeah, closing statement is just, thank you again.
Like we, we are so grateful to be in this position.
We never take it for granted.
We try to do our best for you as well.
We try to always turn up for you,
not to miss sessions, not to take anything for granted.
And I hope that shows with what we bring to the table.
So thank you again, Tommy.
What are your final thoughts?
What if you hold the trophy?
My final thoughts actually, just something I remember.
This trophy, like, you won't be able to tell
because Matt, Matt, you know, does weights and stuff
and I don't.
And you can tell when I'm holding it,
how much heavier it is because I can barely hold it.
And when we were on, on stage, obviously, like,
Clinton, the trophy, we both had awards and I was like,
I really wanted to hold it.
So I was like, I'll pass it here.
And I was like, straight away, immediate regret.
Because you were like, yeah, pass it here.
Yeah, I was like, no, no, no, no, no, no.
But yeah, again, like, as you said, like, you know,
I've said it so many times and I've said it
and I've repeated myself and I'm sorry,
but it is my final thoughts that, you know,
like we are just, we just love this sport.
We love doing what we do.
And I'm glad it can be shown.
And yeah, to receive this award, you know, like,
we work incredibly hard, but it doesn't feel like work.
And that is the best, the best thing
because it is just so much fun.
So thank you all for making this happen.
I'm looking at it now and I can't believe it's the thing.
Yeah, absolutely ridiculous.
You'll see it in Tommy's backdrop very soon.
I think as well, it's worth saying that we need to go to bed
because they'll say there's car launches tomorrow
and there's no days off for the creator of the year.
Do you want to win that?
I'm sorry, that's mental.
Thank you, everybody.
You are amazing and we'll see you.
I don't know if it'll be a live stream,
probably not because I don't think it's rendered to be.
The next car launch live stream we will be live,
of course, might be new for our own.
So yeah, peace out.
Lots of love.
Thank you again.
You're amazing.
Bye.
