The Jeep Wrangler is a tough, off-road vehicle that can handle rough roads and trails. It's known for its strong build and is a favorite for outdoor adventures.
The Nissan Rogue is a family-friendly SUV that is comfortable and practical for everyday use. It has a lot of space for passengers and cargo, making it great for trips.
Automotive repair bills are the charges you pay when your car needs fixing or maintenance. This can include things like oil changes, tire replacements, or fixing broken parts.
The Dodge Challenger is a big, powerful car that looks like it came from the past but is made today. It's known for being fast and fun to drive, and many people love it for its cool design and strong engines. People talk about it because it's a popular choice for those who enjoy driving something exciting.
The Porsche 356 is one of the first cars made by the famous brand Porsche, and it was built a long time ago, from 1948 to 1965. It's loved for being small, light, and fun to drive, and many people think it looks really nice. People talk about it because it's an important part of car history and is still popular with collectors today.
Reactive maintenance means fixing your car only when it breaks down. It's not a good idea because it can lead to bigger problems and more expensive repairs later on.
Tire pressure is how much air is in your car's tires. If the pressure is too low, it can make your car harder to drive and can wear out the tires faster.
The alternator is a part of your car that helps keep the battery charged and powers the electrical parts of the car when the engine is running. If it stops working, your car might not start because the battery won't have enough power.
A battery test checks if your car's battery has enough power to start the engine and run the electrical parts. It's important to make sure the battery is in good shape, especially if the car won't start.
Fluid testing is when mechanics check the different liquids in your car, like oil and coolant, to make sure they're at the right levels and not dirty. This helps keep your car running well and prevents problems.
Preventive maintenance means taking care of your car regularly to stop problems before they happen. It helps keep your car running well and can save you money on repairs later.
The '400,000 K club' is a fun way to say a car has driven 400,000 kilometers. It shows that the car is very durable and that the owner has taken good care of it.

They actually

It's a great test. What did I just say?
Yeah, that's what I thought
Just ignoring me. Well, let's jump into
Our weather before we get in too deep. So we know what we have to enjoy on the roadways this morning
always be safe drive safe arrive safe and keep an eye on the other guy because
Wow, I was I had to get to an appointment late in the day yesterday in the st.
Catherine's area and it was smooth sailing on the way there blue skies Sun was shining
It was quite a pleasant drive on the way back
That was when the crazies came out
Yeah
I'm going people enjoy this like what is this is this a
slalom course I
Don't see the green white checkered waving anywhere
My goodness cars flew past me and I look at them and I go
Yeah, that's why they drive like that. The thing's just about on its last legs
It could be any moment now that the engine let's go just
Screaming these things down the roadway. Well, that's not what car connection is all about

automotive repair bills

Money back in your pocket and get off that hamster wheel
Called home to work home to work home to work home to work home to work home to work home to work
Look the little ball get a pellet jump back on you know what I mean, right?
exactly we got to reduce that
Because we don't want you making car payments and signing on to the never never plan
You never own a car and you never stop paying I
Call it renting because by the time most make the last five or six payments
They're already shopping for another one because you know you killed it
Exactly that is a very expensive way to live with a tool called an automobile
When you just view it as the rest of the world does oh when you're done with it
You just take it to the curb by the way it is Wednesday. It's curb day
around our place
When you grab that attitude and hang on to it you are in trouble that means you've been sucked in by
The talking heads
So we're gonna get we're gonna be unpack a
Bunch of goodies on you that are gonna put money back in your pocket and
Keep that vehicle as long as you possibly can and you can't you can make it to the
600,000 kilometer club you can and
We're gonna be talking about that. I'm just putting together a series. It's gonna go up on our YouTube channel and
It's we're gonna be unpacking the car connection maintenance schedule, which is I designed it around fleet vehicle maintenance
And we're gonna be talking about that in depth in depth so we'll let you know when that
We pull when we drop that into our YouTube channel. I'm just finishing up the series now
Making sure that we have on this particular video
I want to make sure that I break it down in bite-sized
Understandable pieces for you so that you can really really feel it
That it works it
Absolutely works
Well today here's what we can expect
All right, take a deep breath run like the wind here it is
Six degrees
Now and mostly cloudy wind is making it feel colder one degree
cloudy conditions will continue all day in today's temperature range is from
Six degrees 21 degrees and it feels like one degree to 17 degrees now. They're saying on here precipitation is zero
but that's a load of Bologna because
Snows here on the south side south shore of Lake Erie are beginning in about 45 minutes
I'm excited. How about you?
Not really and we had a couple of really big streamers coming yesterday
Where it was almost zero visibility there for a while
So that's what we get today high of 21 and a low of six degrees
Well, that's
That's something to think about
Really more stones. We had more stones yesterday. I actually had to shovel out a little bit
We had about two three inches probably close to three inches in about
15 minutes. Yeah, I hear the
Lake Erie is pretty much frozen right up to the mouth of the river
But I have not checked the maritime or marine weather report. All right coming out
We have this month as I spoke about a couple of days ago the fuel 30-day fuel savings challenge
And if you're willing to take part
You're going to be pleasantly
Pleasantly surprised at how much money you can put back in your pocket just by fuel savings
And it's going to take one commitment to commitment
Three honesty you thought I was going to say commitment again, right?
honesty and
number four
Effort some effort in the effort will be actually absolutely
Rewarded at the end you wait and see so I'm still trying to figure out how I know who who my 30-day fuel savings
challenger team is who's participating and
How I can know that
I think my printers just I think it just woke up as a matter of fact

Let's jump in
To the topic this morning
And I was a little bit hesitant on this one, but you know what it's a begins a
new series for you a new series and all
Seriousness the series is important. This is a series one episode
78 this morning
preventative verse versus
reactive
maintenance and why most owners fail and it is so that is such a
True statement from my side of
The shop
Absolutely all these years that is definitely true because there would be
That's where I'd have to put my counselor's hat on and my my helmet as well
because there would be intense moments of fellowship between husband and wife because the car is broken and
The missus is saying I told you there was something wrong for quite a while. Why don't you ever listen to me?
Crickets, yeah, just kind of step away from the waiting room
I'll just be way over there in the corner. Let me know if
We need to call somebody
So that's exactly what reactive is and many times when I
And get a vehicle in the shop and look it over and I see a lot more things going wrong than what you actually
Booked it in for and I got to be the guy. That's right
the a man
That has to call and let you know
There's a lot more going on with your vehicle. So if I just take care of this component today
You're going to lose it tomorrow
And go that guy
I just had it in the shop if I had a nickel for every time I heard that one particular statement
I just had it in the shop and
I'd always say did you get everything fixed that it needed?
Maybe that's a no if it's not a yes or an all
Then it's a no
Every time
No matter what when was the last time you spent money on your automobile
To actually stay ahead of the maintenance curve. I'd say so. Let's just put it short when was the last time
You brought the vehicle in
for service
But
It's just a little while ago
Like five years
Well, maybe not quite that long, but you know a little a little shorter
Four and a half. Yeah, and you know who you are
Reactive maintenance is when the vehicle comes in to the shop on a flatbed and we go rock roll
this is gonna hurt and
You know that you know that you haven't spent any money on that vehicle in the last 12 to 18 months
Do you think that it's maintenance free?
No, you can reduce
having a lose it moment when the car has something go wrong with it like
Just checking
certain person
Battery died like overnight
Yeah, there was reaction there
What the heck?
What's going on?
And I'm like what what my car won't start. It's not turning over. There's nothing like there's nothing nothing
What are we gonna do about it?
Probably check it and see what's going on might be a good start
No pun intended and
Yeah, the battery died. It's good today tomorrow. It isn't you know yesterday got the toaster out
You made toast everything was good today. You plug it in. You're like, uh, what I
Can't have my favorite jam in toast. Oh, I'm gonna snap. Yeah
That's exactly how cars work when it's reactive is you absolutely are
stunned be willed and
Other
words that I can't say
because it is a family program and
You're shocked that the car is broken down that something actually went wrong with it
but when asked
Well, when was the last time you spent actually spent some money on it like to keep it going keep things up
Usually if it's husband and wife there, they're their eyeballs are rotating back and forth to each other and usually a little head shrug
You know like
Yeah
nothing
So I go well, you know, they're not maintenance free and if you don't keep an eye on things
Things can run away and then all of a sudden all that time that you have not
Had the vehicle looked at and you've just been hopping in gas and go
You don't even check the tire pressures because yeah, why would they be low on air?
It's not that the air travels through the sidewall of the tire because in the winter time the molecules get really really small and tires go low
In the winter faster than in the summer. It would have nothing to do with that whatsoever
But preventative maintenance is where you're really going to get your eyes wide open
When we drop the video
Coming up that we're taking extra special care to put together so I can
properly explain to you how
humongous
companies that have
Enormous fleets of vehicles can keep all those vehicles running up and down the roadways making sure
That you get your goodies that you're eating on the table tonight or
tomorrow
They can't afford to have vehicles down
downtime and especially if there's produce or food or perishables on
The truck and there's stores that are needing the product the inventory
So that you can go to the shelf in the store and get what you need
How did they do that?
That's what I'm gonna unpack
because when you take that mindset and
Put it into practice then you know what you're not gonna have that I'm gonna lose it moments when the car goes down
Because we can stay ahead of things by testing stuff along the way
We can test your battery. Is it in the weak zone if it is then you know what the cold weather
We've been having if you say well, just let it go for a while longer
Bam just like that. Well, what are we gonna do now? It won't start. There's nothing not even a click click click click click
It ain't happening. I got things to do
places to be
Yeah, we can avoid that
by simply
Every time the vehicles in
Myself my guys we'd battery test test the alt test the alternator output quick and
Also fluids not just look at them actually test strip them to make sure how are we doing?
What needs to be done next so we can keep you rolling so that kind of thing that
reactive
Maintenance doesn't happen or we can at least reduce it
The the percentile of it happening
But when you're not spending any money on it don't be shocked when something goes wrong
You had it come it
And I mean that in a nice way you had it coming
Because it's a piece of equipment
It is your fleet. So if you have one vehicle in the home, that's your fleet vehicle
Your job is to make sure that it keeps going
As long as you can you're gonna put every
Kilometer on that vehicle you possibly can because it's making you money
You're not losing money that mindset and the talking heads and all the garbage that we hear from them for the how many decades
That you know every three to five years
You got to get into another car and keep the payments going that is such a crock
And we'll leave it there. It is a family network
Exactly. It's a crock
In a majority of you have bought into that because we love to have our ears tickled and itched
itching ears tickled
Yeah
Because that's what you want to hear, but it's not true
And we are so gonna unpack that in this upcoming YouTube video that I've dedicated the series
directly to our car connection maintenance schedule and
How it will work for you to prevent this
Reactive maintenance versus preventive maintenance
Because that is the winner right there
You like to put money back in your pocket. I can do it, but you have to participate. I
Can share the knowledge that will get you there and how do I know that because that's exactly what I do
This year the old 7 fj will be a member of the 400,000 K club
And it still runs like a Swiss watch. How did that happen? Well, you're a mechanic. That's not an excuse. I
Look after it. I've been there making car payments. No, thanks
Not interested in making interest payments and principal and then I got nothing left by the time it's done if I don't
Maintain it then you just start the cycle all over again
But you don't have to that's the talking heads answer
Yeah, when do you know they're lying is when their lips are moving
So when you figure out what the game the car game is
You can then become a winner
Not a loser not saying there's no losers in the car connection workshop. There's just non winners
Hey, it happens last one of the coffee pot. There isn't enough left for a cup
Non-winner can't help you got to make some more
So today's title is a prerequisite to what's coming up. So if you have not subscribed yet
to our YouTube channel I
Would highly recommend it because the next series of videos are gonna blow your socks clean off
Every single one is going to put money back in your pocket providing you
Do it the do does and the did is done
The do does and the did is done. There is no
Victory if there's no battle
understood
That's the platform of
What I'm gonna teach you and what you do with it thereafter
That's your deal. That's your call. That's your deal. It's you car not my car. It's you cop
You don't have to buy into the talking head theory
Making payments for the rest of your stinking career. Are you kidding me?
No
It does not have to happen and go down that way. It does not
It does not I saw a car rip past me last night
Tail lights broken out was a really nice Honda. The car was absolutely beat up in the driver
Well, pretty much told the story weaving in out of traffic and I could hear that engine revving after he was eight cars
Ahead of me. Do I care? I
Absolutely do not care
Because that person, you know when emotions are high intelligence is low
Yeah, it's called an amygdala hijacking
That's where in a little almond shaped thingy in your melon
Gets too big and then you're not then you're you're not
Rational you're irrational
Yeah, I
Had to learn all that because you know when you have a shop and there's intense moments between
Husbands and wives
You got to get them calmed down somehow
Yeah, we tried the bucket of ice water that doesn't work, but it usually you know, what the heck are you doing?
I'm gonna kill you
Yeah, that those kind of methods didn't help you got to know understand how people think and then you can just kind of bring them
To bring it down bring it down
Yeah, let's take this nuclear thing and just kind of bring it down to a small glow a
warm fuzzy glow
So that's what I'm gonna help you to get to is that warm fuzzy glow where you understand more of
Why you fail as a vehicle owner and
turn that around and stop listening to
the white noise and
Listen closely for the signal
Because when the student is ready the teacher will appear
And the student is ready
The teacher will appear that means you're ready to receive the information and
act on it and
So that's what you're gonna learn
You too can have a vehicle
300 400 600,000 K miles and
Still running like a snorting ball
Yeah
Exactly
Yeah, it reminds me of the story of Ferdinand the ball
You know and then the female cows were on the other side of the fence
And they're going oh hi Ferdinand
You should come over and visit us over here
Really but there's a fence there well by the time he got over the fence
The lady said well, he's just playing old Ferdinand now it's over
That doesn't have to be your car. It's over. It's never over until the singing
So if you have a vehicle that's solid
Structurally sound you are in the game
If it's just about dead and it's almost beyond being a collector's piece
And
You might you've got to get something else to start with because once the structural integrity of the automobile is gone
It's over
You don't have a foundation to work with so if that's you this may be the year that you
You know lay that thing to rest get what you can get for it and kind of walk away and say I'm really sorry
I did this to you and then get a used one and we can help you with that we have two
Resources for you to find a solid
Well-taken care of pre-owned automobile
So that you got a good solid foundation we have Earl Louise Grant at

The episode also touches on community connections and the value of understanding your vehicle, making it a relatable and informative listen for all automotive enthusiasts.
Most vehicle owners don't fail because they don't care - they fail because they're reactive instead of preventative. In today's episode, we break down the difference between preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance, and why waiting for warning lights, noises, or breakdowns almost always costs more in the long run.
Preventative maintenance is about patterns, planning, and discipline. Reactive maintenance is about stress, surprise bills, and shortened vehicle life. This episode explains why so many owners fall into the reactive trap - and how adopting a fleet-style mindset can completely change the outcome.
This conversation sets the foundation for our upcoming Car Connection Fleet Maintenance Schedule and explains why staying ahead of maintenance isn't about spending more - it's about keeping more.
