Hello everybody and welcome back to another P1 podcast with Matt and Tommy.
Wow, you have been spoiled these last few months with triple headers
and just general random news and things like that.
There's been a lot of podcasts, but we've got another one today
and it's a big one.
This is massive, slightly less massive than the prediction temperature
by one by one point, but this one, unless I win then, you know,
the whole thing, but this one is of course,
reacting to what we predicted at the start of the season after testing.
But before the first race, where we went from 20th all the way to first,
of course, there has been more than 20 drivers, I know,
and we are going to essentially react to each place and assign points.
So the rules are, you get two points if you have predicted
that said driver to be in exactly the same position as where they ended up.
So for example, I put Jack Deweyren as 21st, I didn't,
and Jack Deweyren ended up 21st, that's two points.
It's one point for who gets closest.
If we didn't get it bang on, but one of us is closer than the other
and so I think some of these will be so far out.
And so we're going to get a point.
And it's also a point each if we went for the same thing.
So it's a draw.
Okay.
Is that everything, Tommy?
Anything to add?
That is correct.
What to add is this, I always enjoy looking back on this
because we laugh at our predictions that we made before testing,
which is obviously even harder.
But looking at how much this season has changed
and if you could go back and tell me like the pecking order
that everyone believed after the first test,
a certain team in pink and blue in particular
is almost laughable.
So it's going to be fun looking back on this.
It certainly is.
So we'll reflect on why we predicted said drivers to be
in that, the first place, basically, you know,
give our thoughts of what we felt at the start
and then react to where they ended up.
So let's begin with 21st Jack doing.
So I predicted Jack doing to finish 18th in the world
championship too high, too high because we expected another
team to be even slower.
And I also expected, well, did I?
I don't know.
I don't actually, what am I thinking?
Because I thought he was going to get binned off.
I think we both know what you're thinking because I was
the same way.
I think Alpine would do a good.
Yeah, we thought maybe he'd score a point or two and it
would be more than another team that would score nothing.
That's not what happened.
And yes, 18th was my position for Jack.
I went for 17th position.
Yes, he's on the board.
A point for Matt.
They send it there.
1-0 GG's game over.
Not competitive at all is Matt.
Oh yeah, I accept that.
I am competitive.
You say you're not until you're losing.
Yeah, Jack doing my word.
My logic was I think the same as yours.
And something I mentioned at the start of this podcast,
Alpine were predicted to be very strong after testing.
We saw Gassley have an amazing end to the season of 24
which is such a feels like forever ago because of course
we now know they're comfortably the worst.
And my logic here and I think yours was maybe similar was
Jack doing was always doomed.
It seemed to be replaced by Colla Pinta.
You kind of knew that was going to happen,
but it felt like their car was so strong.
He's going to get two, three, four points here and there
and a certain kick salber team who we thought was going
to be rubbish would score nothing and it would still
be enough.
And alas that didn't happen.
He didn't score any points and he's 21st on the list.
At least he's not 24th or something like we saw last year
with all the replacements.
Yes, so there you go.
One little to me as we head to 20th finishing in the world
championship was Franco Colla Pinto and neither of us
mentioned his name because he wasn't on the grid.
So not applicable.
No points given out here because he did not exist.
We did exist.
We didn't exist in the realm of the 20th to 1st when we made
these predictions.
Indeed.
So yeah, not applicable Franco.
We didn't know.
Well, we kind of did know he was going to be in F1, but we
couldn't we didn't want to complicate things by doing a 24
race table and going this driver will be replaced by this
driver and then you're putting like formula to drivers
and they didn't even compete and stuff.
It would just make no sense wild.
Just like probably our 2026 driver lineups that we

Let's head to 19th in the standings was Gabrielle
Bortoletto.
I predicted him to be 20th.
And he did not finish 20th.
Finish 19th.
Tommy, what did you go for?
I went for 19th.
Damn it's a two pointer.
And my word is this a task failed successfully.
You are the luckiest man I this is the luckiest point
because if you watch the original video and what we'll
get on to where his teammate finished in the championship.
This was a incredibly bold prediction and a hot take that
I thought Bortoletto would beat Hülkenberg in the
championship.
I thought he'd be a lot better than people expected.
And I my logic here was that Salba were going to score
zero points.
Hence why Jack Dewan was also higher up than than I
thought.
Salba did not score zero points.
They scored 70, which is insane.
If you'd said that the start of the year, that's one of the
wildest predictions I think of all.
And I said that basically they're both going to be last
and a bit like Xiao Guan Yu last year.
All it takes is one good result and he pips Hülkenberg
and instead he just finished 19th anyway.
And I got the two points.
We love to see it.
Yeah.
No, I don't love to see it.
Don't you don't you wangle in a wee there.
That's a you love to see it.
But well done Tommy.
I mean, sorry.
I'm not competitive.
I don't love to see whatever you don't care to one to
you Tommy as we head to 18th in the world
championship was Pierre Gasly.
Pierre Gasly.
I predicted in 10th place very high up.
Insane to think that 10th for Gasly.
I thought it'd be so much better.
We've already said that we thought Alpine would be
a lot stronger.
I think, yeah, we'll get on to yours.
Both predicted him quite high up based on what we
saw from testing and he had an amazing enter 24,
but of course did not have the machinery to compete,
which is why I was nowhere near.
And I was even further nowhere near.
I went for 9th for Pierre Gasly because why would he
finish 18th after the performances he'd been
putting down in previous seasons?
That feels basically like I've put him as world champion
being that high considering where he's he's ended up.
So Tommy, congratulations.
You have scored another point.
Three one three one up 17th in the world
championship was Yuki Sonoda.
And he had an entire season by two races at Red Bull
and I predicted him 13th.
But this was a 13th in a V car in a V car,
which absolutely would have happened.
Or better, had he not been promoted demoted?
So I feel fully robbed as you go to your prediction
for where you put Yuki Sonoda, Tommy.
I put Yuki Sonoda in 15th place.
What a joke.
Absolutely.
Another point.
It's for one.
That's ridiculous.
It is a joke.
It should be about three two to me, right?
It's absolutely crazy.
Again, we predicted this as where he'd finish
for V-Cub.
I thought V-Cub were going to be pretty poor and V-Cub were great.
It's got 92 points.
They finished six and my thinking here was that V-Cub
weren't going to be that good.
But Yuki will still have a decent season in a V-Cub
because it's had a great end to last year
and looked looked quick.
But instead, like, wow, crazy to think that he spent
so much of that time at Red Bull
and finished the championship in 17th.
He did indeed.
So, Tommy, you are 4-1 up.
Congratulations.
I hope you're happy with the money.
Let's head to 16th in the World Championship.
It was Lance Stroll.
And I predicted Lance Stroll in 16th place.
No! Come on!
Unbelievable.
And I think correct me if I'm wrong.
That kind of was changing towards the end of the season as well.
Yes, it was.
He pipped Yuki Sonoda, actually, at the end which changed the game.
No!
Because that's even worse because I went for 17th.
Yeah. There we go.
So, he was 17th.
So, him getting that...
No! In the last lap!
The last lap!

I'm so robbed right now!
There was a two-point swing in the championship.
I can't be bothered.
Do we have to do anymore?
I don't want to.
I'm losing count.
6-1. Well done.
Oh my God, I'm losing count.
Yeah, it's a Lance Stroll 16th.
Should have been 17th if it wasn't for the last lap.
Goat, Ayrton, Senna move from Lance Stroll around the outside of Ollie Bearman.
Whatever.
Okay, 15th in the World Championship is Esteban Ocon.
I predicted Esty Bestie to finish 15th.
We're back.
We're so back.
It's an absolute on the money, on the nose, two-pointer, unless.
Tommy, who have you predicted or where have you predicted Esteban Ocon to be?
I predicted Esty Bestie to be 12th.
Yeah, get in the bin.

You're back.
Esty Bestie, yeah.
I thought would have a really strong year.
And he did.
He was looking, I think, halfway through the season.
He was in the top 10 just because of the fact that he'd had these unbelievable performances
where he got, like, a fifth place in a few races and propelled him up the order.
And I was thinking, oh, I've kind of accidentally cooked here.
But instead, tumbled down the order.
And here we are with Esty Bestie.
Indeed, yeah.
I don't really know why I felt.
I think I just felt that Hass weren't going to be that great,
but I backed Ollie Bearman to beat him.
And that's kind of where it sat.
It wasn't really, you know, the fact that I thought Esteban would have a poor season.
And there was no chance I thought this was coming in after the first few races
where he'd bagged an outrageous amount of points.
But then it just really fell off towards the end for him,
apart from obviously a great performance in Abu Dhabi.
Fourteenth in the world championship, Liam Lawson.
And I went for eighth place.
And I remember this eighth place being a very controversial opinion.
How on earth is he in a Red Bull going to finish eighth?
Well, actually, he's got no points in the Red Bull.
Here comes Tommy.
I'm leashing on some of your comments on that.
And well, I didn't expect him to do this that badly, of course, in the Red Bull.
Of course, the guy in the Red Bull for much of the season,
we've already spoken about Yuki Soneoda who finished 17th.
Like, can you imagine at the start of the season
saying the second Red Bull driver finishes 17th in the world championship?
That would be the hottest take of hottest takes.
Yeah.
Particularly with saying,
I think Max is going to either win or finish second
and the other drivers going to finish 17th in the championship.
Lawson, of course, 14th,
thanks to the fact that he got all his points for V-Carb,
had a strong end to the season
and not a million miles off Hajar in the end.
A couple of positions behind him.
And yeah, 14th for Lawson.
I also predicted Liam Lawson to be eighth,
which means it feels kind of wrong that we're getting points,
equal points for being so horrendous.
Obviously wrong, but I guess it doesn't change.
It doesn't really change anything.
We could give us zero, but we've already committed to this now.
It makes us less, sound less bad at the end.
We're like, oh, we scored 45 points,
but most of them were just us drawing.
You're doing wrong.
I mean, how many draws have we actually had?
Should we just cancel the draws?
None.
Yeah, I think we cancelled the draws, bro.
I think that unless we were bang on.
I think we did that last year and I think we also...
To be honest, we haven't drawn so far.
Cancel the draws,
but if we both get it correctly, we get two points each.
Easy.
Yeah, yeah, I think that, yeah.
Bang on, absolutely.
Yeah, so we don't have to actually change the scores at all
because there has been no draws up until this point,
which means the scores are still 6-3.
13th in the World Championship was Oliver Bearman.
I backed him to beat Esteban Ocon,
and I put him 14th.
14th position.
Is that close enough to beat Tommy?
It is not.
Ah, God.
I predicted him 14th.
So exactly the same.
I actually predicted him to be lower.
Can we stop having the same brain?
Well, I predicted him...
Well, weirdly, we didn't because I predicted him lower
than Esteban Ocon.
You predicted him to beat it,
but actually overall in the table, it was 14th.
So there we go.
Oli Bearman, yeah.
He was way down the order actually.
Quite early into the season.
Had a fantastic end, scored lots of points.
My go.
Yeah, he was really strong at the end,
got bagged a load of points
and finished ahead of Estebesti in the end.
Yeah, despite Ocon's great points finished at the end,
Oli still managed to beat his teammate
and I think it was a very solid rookie season
for Oli Bearman.
Very happy for him.
So no points because we both went for the same thing
and it was slightly, slightly wrong.
12th in the championship was Isaac Hacha.
And I went for 18th.
That's got to be minus points.
That's got to be minus three.
Well, we'll get into yours as well.
This could have been even worse
because of course Hacha was looking like
he could maybe even take 8th or 9th in the championship.
He fell away a little bit at the end.
He had a fantastic season of breakthrough season.
The thinking here was of course
that didn't think V-Carb would be anything special
and who also didn't really know a huge amount about Hacha
and I think he was incredibly overlooked going into the season
and instead he's had a brilliant season
and I don't think 12th even tells the story
of how strong he's been.
So my prediction for Isaac Hacha was 16th
which gives me a point in this little championship
where we're doing.
I am pleasantly surprised for Hacha.
He came in with not a lot of expectation
on his shoulders at all really,
at least not from us.
We didn't really, as you can see by our predictions,
didn't expect anything too crazy from him.
But the V-Carb, the V-Carb was a great car
for a lot of the season
and was able to put him in brilliant positions
but also his qualifying, Isaac Hacha's qualifying.
I feel like as the years go by
I think he'll be known for doing what
let's say Pierre Gasly has done many times
in the past when he was obviously
at the second team at Red Bull
and so on and so forth
where he was basically putting in unbelievable performances
in a car that you wouldn't expect to perhaps be there.
I think Hacha is great in qualifying
and should Formula One stay the same
where we always or at least the grid on Saturday
will usually mean somewhere near where you finish on Sunday
then this will play into Hacha's hands massively
with the fact he's a bit of a one-lap specialist.
So I'm sorry that I went for 16th
but I'll take the point. Thank you very much indeed.
An 11th place in the World Championship
was Nico Hülkenberg in a kick-sauber.
I predicted him 19th.
19th in the championship for Nico Hülkenberg.
I was not familiar with your game, Nico.
I was not familiar with Sauber's game.
I'll be honest with you as well.
We went from not expecting anything for Audi
when they were announced to now going,
wow, okay.
Yeah, what is going on here?
I was unfamiliar because they've come on leaps and bounds
this year and have had a great season.
I put him 19th.
Could I possibly score a point, Tommy?
You could because... Oh, yes!
Despite being miles away.
But I was more miles away
because I said he was going to be 20th and last
in the championship. That's got me at his qualification.
Look, Nico Hülkenberg.
It sounds absolute.
It's all recent scene.
It's all like an insane thing to think about.
He scored 51 points in the championship.
He got his podium.
He finished 11th.
Last year, you know, it sounds insane for us to go 19th
and 20th. Let's not forget, you know,
Sauber were absolutely awful.
They finished with four points
in the whole constructed standings.
They were miles off anyone.
No-where near.
Bottas scored nothing.
Joe scored four points.
And, yeah, it's one of those things
where we thought they were going to be useless again.
And he said Hülkenberg had a great season.
So no-where near.
So you're going to apologize to Nico now
or later with the fact that you thought
Bottas letter would beat him?
I will apologize to Nico,
but also say you're welcome
because it was so bad that it jinxed him
and got him his podium.
Okay, fair enough.
So you're somehow trying to say you helped him.
Very interesting indeed.
I think people take it as like slander.
I think Bottaletto has been strong
and there was logic here.
Like, at the end of the day, like last year,
do people think Joe Guan Yu is a better driver than Bottas?
No.
But he got more points.
Like, that's just how...
Yeah, that's how I saw it.
You saw it wrong.
I saw it wrong indeed.
Very wrong.
We are sometimes very wrong.
Okay, before we get into the top 10,
the scores on the doors.
So I've had a good couple of...
I mean, I say good.
So wildly wrong, but less wildly wrong than Tommy
that brings me back into this action.
6-4 behind.
Tom Bellingham leads 6-4
as we head into the top 10.
Intent position in the world championship
was Fernando Alonso.
And I said Fernando Alonso would be 13th.
I didn't back him.
Not a real fan.
Not a real fan.
Of course, I said that Lance Stroll would be 16th,
which he was.
So I put that Alonso would finish much higher.
It's insane to think
because I was nervous about Stroll potentially beating Alonso
in the championship at one point.
He had such poor luck at the start of the season.
But my logic here was that Aston Martin prediction,
of course, that I made in the main thing
of that they'd score less than 50 points
and it would be hard for Fernando to make his way at the table.
But instead, yeah, got a good old chunk of points
and finished 10th.
Well, I backed your man.
I went for a Fernando Alonso P11 in the driver's standings
just missing out on a two-pointer.
And really the momentum is back with the Gallagher's right now.
And I'm feeling good about the rest of the season,
the rest of the top 10 maybe, let's see.
So 11th for Fernando Alonso.
I was not as glass half empty, unsurprisingly, the new Tommy.
I thought Fernando would be able to make the difference
even in a poor car.
And that's exactly what he did.
He could have, I mean, if we think about how bad
of an opening part of the season he had,
he could have easily finished 8th in the standings
considering the slow end to Albonne's season
and the difficult start to Carlos,
both of those, of course, finishing ahead of him.
But it was 10th in the end for Fernando
and a point for me bringing it to 6-5.

and it was another one of those
failed successfully moments because
I predicted him spoiler alert
higher than Albin.

Carlos Sainz, yeah, went for ninth place.
This, of course, ninth place.
I thought would be best for the rest,
but of course that second red ball
was not in the top eight.

in eighth position.
I went for
eleventh place
Is it enough?

Don't want to talk about it.
I went for 12th.

I am so sorry, Alex.
Ridiculous.
Another point for Tommy.
That's what I'm most sorry about.
It's not like I was, you know, massively more wrong.
I just went for one place lower
and that takes the scores to nine-five to Tommy
and Alex had such a great season
in that first half.
I don't think you want to talk about the last seven races
or so because there was no point scores
apart from the U.S. Sprint.
He could have scored so much more.
Had he had the same ending to Carlos' season,
he could have been close to Kimmy Antonelli
come the end of this, this 2025 season.
But alas, still a great season
for both Alex and for Williams,
eighth and ninth in the standings.
They'll absolutely take that.
And I'm so happy for them.
I'm wearing Williams right now, as you can see.
I'm a big fan of Williams as a team.
They're so likeable
and they are on the resurgence.
That's very exciting to see.

Seventh place was Kimmy Antonelli.
I predicted Kimmy Antonelli to finish in seventh place.
Tommy, you know, you're a big Kimmy Antonelli fan.
Where did you put him?
I put him sixth.
So bad, honestly.
How wrong can you be at one place?
But I scored two points.
That takes it to nine-seven.
Kimmy Antonelli, the way I thought his season was going to unfold
was a really good Mercedes car, rookie errors,
but some good pace and some great results.
And that's kind of what happened in Kimmy's season.
He had a slump in the mid-part
where we were going,
oh, this needs to stop.
This needs to stop quite quickly
and we need to see some big moments.
The Miami Sprint poll was when he sort of entered the fray,
I would say of,
okay, Kimmy Antonelli on his rookie season.
This is what we want to see.
But as I mentioned, he had moments in 2025
which he won't want to talk about.
But then the end of the season again was really, really strong.
Ignore Abu Dhabi.
But that was, I think the right way to do it
where Brazil was so great.
What a weekend for him in particular for that one.
And overall, he's shown enough this year
to really make some strides next year, I would say.
Yeah, definitely.
I will go on to the next person as well
as I kind of mention a little bit more of this.
But I of course went with the very bold prediction
that Kimmy Antonelli would beat George Russell.
So had I not kind of been a bit crazy and fanboy-ish,
I would have also put him seventh.
But I was like, no, he's going to beat George,
put him sixth.
And of course, was very close to sixth
but didn't quite get there.
Very close but not quite.
It's nine-sevenths to Tommy.
This is close.
In sixth in the championship, it was Lewis Hamilton.
Now, I said Lewis Hamilton was fifth.
He was of course sixth.
But there's more to this because of course,
Kimmy Antonelli was incredibly close to Lewis Hamilton
at the end that we thought he might pit him.
And had he done that,
it would have made Lewis Hamilton,
it basically would have taken your prediction away
of Antonelli where he finished
and given the point to me.
So Kimmy Antonelli.
Yeah, Kimmy Antonelli's a point swing
due to his position.
So, yeah.
That's crazy.
Thank you, Kimmy.
Thank you, Kimmy, for not finishing sixth
in the Aberdeen Grand Prix
where you absolutely could have.
Yeah, and there we go.
So yeah, went for Hamilton fifth.
Thought Ferrari would be stronger than they were,
of course.
I didn't expect Hamilton's season to be this bad.
Of course, fifth place, quite close,
but not horrendous.
I also went for fifth place.
So no points scored for either of us.
I, you know, in the pre-season before testing,
obviously I went Charlotte Clairwell Champion
because why wouldn't I?
All of the things sort of pointed at the end of 2024
to Ferrari having a strong car.
But after testing, I lost all hope and all faith
and just plopped them much further down the field
than I expected.
We thought they'd be third fastest
based on our positions of the Mercs
and where we put Ferrari.
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
And they were fourth fastest a lot of the time,
sadly, but you know, there were still moments
where Ferrari was strong
and they were able to pick up some points.
But Hamilton to be so far behind
Charlotte Clairwell and the World Championship
was not something either of us expected,
I would say over the course of the 24 race season.
So yeah, fifth place for both of us
and it was Lewis in sixth.
So the scores remain 9-7.
In fifth place in the championship was Charles LeClaire.
I predicted Charles to finish fourth
in the World Championship.
And that did not happen.
Tommy, where did you go?
I also went for fourth position.
Oh, wow.
No points once again.
We need to stop having the same brain.
This was the logic, the same as you.
There was a lot of talk over the start.
I was humming and houring about
putting Hamilton ahead of LeClaire.
Of course, that would have been insanely wrong
because LeClaire was comfortably ahead.
It was only, you know, they finished fifth and sixth
in the title.
So only like one position apart,
but doesn't really tell the story of their seasons at all
and the points gap between them.
My logic here was the fact that Ferrari would be
maybe third fastest, quicker than the Mercs,
but I didn't think they'd be all that great.
There's actually, I want to just say something quite funny
that someone shared the clip the other day
of us reacting to the Ferrari car launch.
And at the end, obviously there's so much hype
about Ferrari.
It's funny to look back now,
but like genuinely like you weren't the only one
that thought they were going to win the constructors
challenge for the title.
There's a lot of hype around them.
And at the end of the clip, I go,
do you know what that looks like to me?
Fourth in the constructors.
And you look really annoyed.
I don't know if that actually came.
Oh dear.
So your bait actually was correct for once.
Yeah, for once.
Well done.
Well done, Tommy.
So don't say that next year.
Say that looks like first in the constructors.
Okay.

So scores are still 9-7
as we head to fourth in the championship was George Russell.
Well, as we know, we've gone different here
because I predicted George to be good in the champ.
Sorry, bad in the championship compared to Antonelli.
I put him all the way down in seventh position.
Didn't think he could be that strong.
Antonelli, I did, yeah.
That was serious fanboy moment for you.
It was.
It was a hot take.
How many points did they finish away from each other?
169.
Nice.
You were cataclysmically wrong there.
I went for sixth in the standings
because I thought Mercedes would be worse than Ferrari.
But I thought that George would beat Kimmy quite confidently.
I think I was quite confident that that would happen.
And it did.
So that is a point to me, which puts it to 9-8.
The top three in the championship
in third place was Oscar Piastri.
And I went for third on the nose as of right now.
Gallagher leads 10-9.
Tommy, what did you go for?
I went for Oscar Piastri in third place.
Yeah, third place for Oscar Piastri.
Stop copying me.
Well, I don't know who went first, actually.
To be fair, to be fair,
you know, we'll talk about the top three.
Obviously, we've not spoken any of them.
So we, the top three were in the top three,
whether they're in the right order,
we'll find out based on the last two.
But Oscar, the logic here was that it would be,
you know, I thought he'd finish third
due to maybe not having the consistency.
Obviously, he kind of did,
but I don't think I saw him being a championship contender.
And of course, he did brilliantly in the championship
a lot, a lot better than I predicted
and you probably thought as well,
based on like we knew he was a new driver
only his third season.
And yeah, so close to the world championship
but did indeed finish third.
Yeah, I expected a step up from Oscar.
I did not expect him to lead 15 rounds
or whatever it was of the world championship
and to come so close to winning his first title.
Yeah, that third prediction from both of us
does not, as much as we score two points here.
We were right, but wrong basically.
We were so correct with the number,
so wrong with how we thought it would play out.
We thought it was a Max versus Lando kind of season
and Oscar very much joined the party.
And I hope, I really hope for his sake
he looks back on this season with positive thoughts
rather than what could have been.
Of course it's gonna be probably the latter
in the days after Abu Dhabi
but fingers crossed he has a team around him
to just really remind him of how good he was.
Yeah, third season he's got a very bright future
ahead of him, no doubt.
In second place in the championship
and my brain is now figuring out
just how badly this has gone for me.
Max Verstappen finished P2.
I went for first place.
And so did I.
And so did I.
Goodness gracious me.
11-10.
Can we just talk about this though?
Because my word, if this had come in
and Max had scored two more points.
Of course we know that.
I'd run the swap anyway and all this kind of stuff
but like in terms of like the actual result
so many things but had he scored two more points
wins the world championship.
This would have been a generational prediction
from us both.
You do, we need to remember how slandered we were
going for Max winning the championship.
The heat we got.
The heat in the comments.
Everyone was saying they were the fourth best after testing.
They were nowhere, the McLaren was so clear.
Even Max himself was asked like
who's going to win the championship
and how many people are going to be challenged
for the championship?
He said two and they're both wearing orange.
It was so clearly like a McLaren
going to win the championship
thought it was going to be one, two between them
and it was for a lot of the stage.
And he almost did it.
And our prediction, you know, you wind it back
was McLaren will take points off each other
in the championship throughout the year
and Max will just keep picking up consistent points
and beat them at the end.
I think it will be close.
We were so close to it crazy.
And alas, we were wrong.
Alas, we were wrong.
That's what it will say on paper.
But yeah, I remember that very clearly
just how many people went.
What are you guys on?
The fact that you've gone for Max first up
and world champion, but we were both similarly minded
and it almost played out to perfection
of what we expected to happen.
So we were not correct, but we were very, very close.
And I know that probably the Max championship
would have felt good for you, Tommy.
But I think this, the prediction of it
may have felt even better
because I know for a fact
you would have started replying
to the comments from the previous video
and saying, well, how'd you like me now?
No, just lots of eyes emojis in replies.

Okay, so we both were wrong.
No points.
It is still 11-10.
And unsurprisingly, in first position
in the world championship was Lando Norris.
And if you've done the math
and you've done the order,
you will know that we both went for Lando Norris
in second position.
And we were so close to getting
first, second and third correct
in the world championship
had it been two points the other way.
But Lando, of course, winning the world championship,
we thought he would come close.
We thought that he would fight Max all the way.
I don't think we expected, you know,
we expected Rebel to be better than they were.
Oh, sorry.
We expected Max to do better.
Of course, we went for first in the world championship.
Everyone else had written them off.
We thought the Max would score
a huge amount of points,
which he did in the last half of the season.
I don't think we expected the falloff
as much in that first half.
And that's what allowed, of course,
you know, Lando and Oscar to score
an enormous amount of points
and to have an insane buffer on Max.
And it should have been over a lot.
It shouldn't have been as close as it was.
And that was down to McLaren,
the disqualifications,
the blunders that we've seen occasionally.
So, yeah, Lando proved us wrong,
I think in some ways,
in the fact that we thought
if it was a head-to-head fight
between Max and Lando,
Max would come out on top.
Lando managed it.
He was incredibly impressive
with the mentality that he showed
and really went on a run of form
that is worthy of being called a world champion.
So, we were wrong.
Lando was right and he's world champion.
He is world champion in a weird way.
Kind of like, had we gone for first position,
it would almost been like the Oscar-Piastry position
where it's like, you've got it right,
but kind of did we?
Because I think the smart bet
was Lando wins the world championship easily.
He has the car underneath him
to do it from the start of the season
and he'd dominate
and the other teams wouldn't have a look in.
And obviously, he won the world championship,
but he just got it over the line.
There were his errors, there were team errors,
of course, there was so much in the season
that changed the scenario.
But yeah, it was incredibly close
and in a weird way like that order of Lando, Max, Oscar
wouldn't have been an absolutely insane prediction
at the start of the year,
but if you'd said it had gone the way it had,
I think it would have been like, whoa, no way.
I don't think we could have foreseen the way it happened
if you get what I'm saying.
For sure, it was a season of a lot of...
Roller coasters for all three of them.
A lot of moments, yeah, for sure.

Obviously, top drivers were quite similar in the end.
In the top five, we went for exactly the same
and we didn't know this coming into the season.
And I think that's fair, right?
With the predictions, of course, we have the rule of
you can't go for the same as me for this and yada, yada, yada.
We can't step in and be like, no, you have to go for a different second.
No, you have to change because then you change and stuff.
Yeah, I like the way that we do this.
You'd end up having, like, Ocon in first place
because you've not used him yet or something.
Yeah, it wouldn't work.
But yeah, that was a lot of fun.
I really like reflecting on it.
You know, predictions aren't that deep.
It's funny that we're wrong.
I enjoy looking back on it and thinking, like,
wow, it is an unpredictable season.
It's enjoyable to see that I've thought
Salba would score nothing and they've scored 70 points.
And also, it's amazing.

If we're right, we should start putting money
where our minds are.
