Rust prevention is about keeping cars from getting rusty. Just like how we need to take care of our bodies, cars need care too, so they don't get damaged by rust. This can mean putting special coatings on them or fixing any scratches quickly.
Underspray is a special coating that helps protect the bottom of your car from rust. It's especially useful if you live in places where they put salt on the roads in winter.
An oil leak is when oil from the engine drips out, which can cause problems if it gets too low. It's important to fix oil leaks to keep the engine running well.
The Pentastar engine is a type of V6 engine made by Chrysler. It's designed to be powerful while also saving fuel, and it's found in many Jeep vehicles.
Salt spray is tiny droplets of salty water that can come from the ocean or from roads treated with salt. It can harm cars by causing rust and damaging the paint.
Ford is a well-known car company from America that makes many types of vehicles, especially trucks. The Ford F-150 is one of their most popular models.
Water beating happens when water forms little droplets on a surface instead of spreading out flat. It shows that the surface is treated to keep water away.
An electric rust buster is a gadget that tries to stop rust from forming on cars using electricity. Some people say it works, but others find it doesn't help much.
The Pontiac J2000 is a small car that was made in the 1980s. It was popular because it was good on gas, but older cars like this can have problems like rust, especially if they’ve been driven in places with a lot of snow or rain.
Road salt is salt spread on roads in winter to help melt ice. While it helps cars drive safely, it can also cause rust if it stays on the car too long.
City Auto Sales and Leasing is a place where you can buy used cars. They promise to sell good quality cars at fair prices and help you with financing if you need it.
The Dodge Journey is a family-friendly SUV that can carry a lot of people and their stuff. It’s known for being spacious and comfortable, making it a good choice for families or anyone who needs extra room.

is car connection your weekly and Saturday morning pit stop for stories
smarts and a few good laughs and I'm Nile Motormouth Jenkins and we're shifting
in to drive this morning I know it's a brand new work week and it's what it's
Monday morning mm-hmm so I'm here to help you friends I'm here to help you so
thanks for stopping by the workshop let's jump into what we're going to be
talking about this morning boy schedules are getting busy isn't it that time of
year all kinds of stuff going on can you be here can you be there oh my
goodness you know 31 years on the radio and now we've shifted into car
connection next generation 2.0 right here on I heart Spotify Amazon music and
Apple music and all the major platforms just put us into the search bar car
connection workshop and you'll find us but we're in this together it's Monday
morning I know yeah it is I remember all my Monday mornings on shift let me tell
you yeah one eye open driving this morning right keep the good eye open
anyway well I got a few things to share with you the main topic of this
mornings program is rust yeah even as humans we can rust if we sit around too
long things stop working or don't work very well or hurt or are just flat out
annoying and painful well our cars are exactly the same way believe it or not
they get arthritis it's called rust so this morning we're gonna talk about rust
prevention it doesn't sleep nope it eats your vehicle one piece at a time and it
is so true so I'm gonna unpack the nuts and bolts to that because that's something
that I have firmly followed for decades now is rust prevention you know these
automobiles they're not getting any cheaper like that I check the papers all
the time and for flyers you know two for one three for one family deals you know
buy three cars get the fourth one free nothing not a bone not a coupon so what
do we do well we've got to learn how to take better care of them so that we can
make them last longer that's what I do I'm not one to be paying interest yeah
being in partnership with the bank on your automobile I like that feeling when
you put the key in and you turn it and you fire it up it's all yours yeah the
bank manager doesn't have a piece of it the banks don't have a piece of it and
you're not paying any interest so let's jump right in we're gonna kick off with
a motormouth winter tech tip I have one for you today I'm weaning off a little
bit number 19 I call this one and it kind of ties right in so now would be a
good time to for us let's have a swiggy together right it is morning we're
driving I'm driving this microphone and I got a ton of stuff today to do Monday
mornings our YouTube video shoot mornings and lots of other you got a fit
life in there somewhere along the route so we have to do that all on Mondays so
shoot three videos edit upload and move on to something else quickly so whatever
your favorite morning beverages it doesn't matter here in the car connection
workshop it's nothing less than 99.5% octane boost or nothing's getting done
all right you're ready on 321 I bought you a little time so you can prepare
yourself now don't spill and watch out for the other guy don't leave the road
net and out in the rhubarb if you're driving ready 321 yeah that's doing it
how won't you is that working for you just make sure this morning when you get
through the drive-thru before you get on the highway check your order just to
make sure it's okay because that is not a good way to start off a Monday morning
that's for sure putting an order through it the drive-thru and discovering a
couple of kilometers down the road it ain't right that's right it ain't right
that's so good yeah all right let's get on the road with motormouth winter tech
tip number 19 salt yep I like salt you know kosher salt real salt on my food
but I don't want salt on the car I call it a salted and it's true salt saves
roads but kills cars give your ride a rinse top-down only we're gonna talk
about the underspray so give your car your ride a rinse every chance you get
because rust never sleeps it just creeps and that is absolutely true rust gets
into all the nooks and crannies of our automobiles and by the time you see a
little innocent-looking blister on the on the paint surface it's been working
behind the scenes for quite some time already so by the time my friends that
are body men say by the time you see that little nerdy that's a technical term on
the paint the damage has already begun deep behind that so he says you know it
looks innocent oh just knock it off and then you know paint it flash that in it's
gone no we need to get behind that and find out what's really going on otherwise
we it's like putting lipstick on a pig there's a visual now I ain't kissing that
I used to ship hogs when I was younger Monday mornings load up the truck
steak truck off to the pig yard that's right take the wiener pigs off to the
yard for auction well let's talk about not kissing pigs this morning okay I
digress rust people ask me all the time you know what year is that what today no
that vehicle you're driving I go that's an 07 oh my goodness that's in great
shape I say yep I lucked out and I got that lucky vehicle assembly lotto ticket
where this one never needs parts never needs service or an oil change or even
wiper blades and nothing sticks to it whatsoever they actually buy that that's
that's the funny part they'll they look at me and go really no not really not at
all it takes work and effort so let's talk about rust if you've got your crayons
and your brown paper bag now would be the time to take some notes that would be
really really really really really good is there's a couple of things we gotta we
gotta say thank you to our program partners as well in just a few moments
but I'll give you a tidbit first rust is actually and corrosion is actually a
recipe it's a recipe what does it need and how does it grow first of all it
needs moisture number two it needs warmth that's it moisture and warmth 40
degrees Fahrenheit that's the ticket that is the formula at 40 degrees Fahrenheit
just 40 yeah I don't I don't use metric much you'll you'll figure that out as we
go along and learn each other moisture plus 40 degrees equals the rusties are
awake and eating your car now if we add one more mix to the to the recipe salt
be it rock salt sand mixed with salt or salt mixed with sand and let's talk
about the wickedly corrosive salt brine they're spraying on the roads I was
slipped a little article by the engineers behind the scenes on the QT my
friends it was an article written by the engineers that designed that liquid
salt brine they were at first using sugar beet juice not damaging to our
vehicles whatsoever great for you know road conditions dealing with ice black
ice slippery areas but it was expensive by the leader so to the drawing board
lads come up with something cheaper okay we don't care if it eats the cars
right down to the vinyl seats that is if you have a vinyl seat right down to the
steering wheel so the article I read from the engineers summed up the product
that they came up with and it reduced the price per liter to spray it on the
roadways by less than a third I think the mom number if I remember right it's
been a while since I read that article it was like six cents a liter down to
like three cents a liter or two cents a liter for the salt brine so the sugar
beats got too much money that doesn't leave any on the table for us so down to
pennies literally pennies a leader for the salt brine the engineers call it
wickedly corrosive and I in all the years as an automotive service tech since
license since 1988 and my licenses are all up to date and current I stay up to
date with everything that's going on I'm still hands-on in the car connection
workshop and get into if you watch our YouTube videos we get into some gnarly
stuff I got one coming in next week on a 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK with the 3.6
Pentastar oil leak and it's a pattern failure and wait till you see those
videos what it takes to get it apart to get to the down to the oil leak so we
get into some stuff in the car connection workshop that will always teach you
five things what it is where it is how it works why it matters and what you
could have learned or understood better about your automobile to save yourself a
lot of heartache a lot of chaos confusion frustration stress and money
money that you didn't need to spend and I just spoke last week about service
orders how important it is to make sure when you take your vehicle in that the
service writer you make sure he does his or her homework on that service order
puts down there your wishes not theirs yours concern cause correction
confirmation and only give them permission for one hour of dyag time so the
concern is whatever number of concerns you have with your car cause that's
diagnostic time cha-ching only give them a bite so that you don't end up at the
end of the day with a crazy work order and everybody gets all bent out of shape
miscommunication because that happens a lot in the service departments i don't
care where it is what building who where what why service desk is where
communication has to be drawn and the line has to be drawn i give you one hour
permission for diagnostic and then i want to report get in touch with me so just
wanted to i'm going to keep reminding of you that because that's where a lot of
problems happen miscommunication right at the service writers desk and that
information that you give and that person takes has to go to a technician at
some time during the day to take your car in and work on it so it's passing hands
all right so wickedly corrosive in all my years as a service tech i have never ever
heard or seen a product that was described as wickedly corrosive
so i remember last year heading into st catharines
from ford eerie and the salt this i call it the salt briner was out there on the roads
and we got to respect them they're trying to help us right they're trying to keep us safe
these cars would not give the feller any room whatsoever on the road it was like what are you
doing you guys you guys is give the guy some room he's spraying and we're up on the top now of the
garden city bridge in st catharines and he's spraying down they're preparing for something
that's coming in and the hose blows off on the side of the pump on the sprayer and now the salt
brine is coming out sideways so if you're racing down the side of them your car is getting bathed
with wickedly corrosive material out of the size of pipe like a fire hose
and i backed i was already backed way off because i don't want that crap on my car i don't
it stains the paint it leaves white spots you can't get them off and these three guys go
scooting down the side of this truck at the top of the garden city bridge and this thing is fire
hosing and i'm not even exaggerating totally showered their cars with this stuff top to bottom
and i've seen that product actually stain a windshield into the laminate and it's now got
this white haze it's junk you can't get it out so these three fellers and they i identified them
they were fellers not women so there you go guys busted driving like idiots and their vehicles are
getting totally basted with that wickedly corrosive salt spray it's a brine that's what it is and i'm
going dudes you have no idea and you should go straight to the car wash and get that crap off
but they won't but they i'm sure they found out later they had some damage because that stuff
it causes paint damage i myself personally saw it cloud a windshield and i couldn't get it off
it would not come off no matter what so i had cloudy spots in the glass i could not deal with
it's done the glass is done so anyways as i get into rust as we talked about the formula for rust
to grow moisture plus 40 degrees and rust takes off add in that salt brine now do you know what
that really is acid salt brine equals acid and all that salt brine needs is moisture
plus 40 degrees and it eats your car it is wickedly corrosive and let me tell you
it takes no prisoners that product will eat your car in no time flat
so here's the deal what do we do well we need to neutralize the acids from the road salt
that's the critical piece here because we got to shut it down before it gets started
so how do we do that well i found a product about 15 years ago and i've been using it ever since
i used to use a product with a k but it is no good and here's what i say it doesn't work like it used
to at all and there's a lot of products out there that don't work they you know the thought it's
it's like getting a card it's the thought that counts right yeah well there's a lot of rust
proofing out there so i've concluded it this way how do you know as a consumer if it's a good
product number one if it's rubberized it's junk number two if it's mixed with motor oil don't
put it on your car it eats body caulking and it ruins weather stripping you know the spongy
things that keep the doors and everything nice and quiet and keeps the water out yeah it uh it has
a negative effect on rubber if it drips it's junk period okay so that now we push that aside
i'm not here to bash everybody's products everybody's got to make a buck but you know what
i want my buck to count how about you you know when i'm buying something i want quality
for my money you know where where the where the price you pay is worth the goods you receive
and then some that's a great deal so i found a product through some of my mechanic friends
out in the Toronto area said hey motormouth you got to come up and see this we've seen
nothing like it so they'd been testing it for about a year and saw some really really good results
so i grabbed another mechanic friend actually is one of my program partners at the time we took
his Ford pick up all the way up to Scarborough and we used his truck to demo we sprayed the uh the
frame on that truck down with a garden hose then we sprayed this product on and i will tell you
how you can get to it because they don't sponsor my program or but they do have one of the best
products on the market that i've seen in decades so you know what you got to call it right spades
a spade so we soaked the frame down with a garden hose and then uh my my friend who owned the shop
up there he was also a program partner at the time sprays this product on and we literally watched
the water that we just sprayed into the metal beating through and dripping off
i looked at my my buddy i go do you see what i see he goes yeah that's incredible isn't it
it pushed the water right out of the the metal that we had just literally fire hosed it down
with water and i'm going i'm sold i've never seen a rust protection product do that ever
so we came back with a positive idea we got to get this stuff out there and help protect
people's vehicles so that's what we did and got a number of uh my former clients that are still
spraying the same product and i'll tell you that's the only product i put on my vehicles for the last
12 to 15 years and it works works for several reasons number one it dispels moisture so wherever
it creeps and it creeps like crazy it doesn't drip off it creeps and it has positive negative
electron theory and we'll get into that another time that's what makes it creep
i'll keep it simple the product is positively charged the your vehicles metal is negatively
charged so you have positive electrons chasing negative electrons kind of like the guys chasing
the girl girls in the playground at school when we were kids okay maybe not at your school
so yeah so that's what positive electrons do they chase the negative electrons and that's
what makes it creep through all the nooks and crannies of your vehicle and it gets in everywhere
and the proof is in the summer you see a little sweating and you'll see the product there it's
not dripping off it's creeping and i'm like yes that's exactly what you want it to do
but the third thing is that we got extremely excited about was the product neutralizes
acid so salt brine equals acid that's exactly what it is and on naked metal it gets right
into it and it begins to corrode immediately well if your vehicle's sprayed with this product
you don't need to be crazy worried because it's protecting your vehicle and neutralizing the acids
of salt and liquid salt so the salt brine and rock salt so you don't have to be concerned
that your car's being eaten away and i've seen some serious damage over the last few years my goodness
to look at the body metal and subframes and engine cradles when the engine cradle is gone
on your car it's over yeah the singing is going on it's major destruction and that has compromised
the structural integrity of your vehicle just like that when the rockers are rotting open
structural integrity is disappearing very very quickly it's over the vehicle is going to the
graveyard soon so that's what i liked about this product from the very beginning i've used it ever
since and i was loyal to a product many years ago for decades and it has changed the formula has
changed and as i said to draw conclusion what works what doesn't rubberized undercoating no
if it drips off no if it doesn't neutralize salt the acids from salt no if it doesn't creep no
and the electric rust buster no times no plus no divided by no equals no it doesn't work it's
a gimmick it works on ships it does not work on cars and it's like a thousand bucks for nothing
in fact i have one down on my workbench we're going to shoot another video with that because
i've been asked about that several times and how i ended up with that was i went to bat for a lady
who had it installed on her car from brand new thousand bucks and it was rusting so i went to
see the folks at the dealer with the car and i go what's that rust how come how can it it's
got one of those uh you know j-2000 rust busters on there we don't know but we could smear some
grease on it and it should be okay it said well how about where we can't see the rust
oh well we could look it over and see i go no you're going to take it off and give this lady
your money back well a little you know intense moments of fellowship and not being disrespectful
they took it off and then they handed it to me too much for tv you can't make that stuff up
so here's how you connect with that product i have left a logo and a link on our website at
carconnectionbusinessnetwork.com in all the descriptions of all our youtube videos
all of our podcasts i put details there where you can find links so if you're not able to write this
down that's where you'll find all the information how to connect how to get our car connection merch
how to support our youtube channel instagram facebook stevensvilleontheweb.ca and our podcasts
on iHeart apple amazon and the like yeah so we're out there you can also email me through
carconnectionbusinessnetwork.com the short form is ccbusnet.com so on the homepage of our
website you'll see a logo that starts with corrosion and it's green you can't miss it
click on there you'll get to see the product you can also click through and see how the
product's applied but that is one of the best products i have seen on the planet to battle
corrosion and give you 100% rust protection and protect your investment like i do it's worth
every stinking penny in fact i've taken a vehicle friday of this week to get a full applications
that's what you want to do i do it every two years uh when i get a a vehicle that's new to me i'll
get it done every year for the first couple of years then i'll skip and go once every 24 months
to to keep it up because i don't want to get lose a vehicle because of rust and i don't want to be
you know i like i like the guys that do fantastic body work and stuff but it's expensive and if we
can avoid it we're saving some good buckolas the longer you can keep your car the more money
you'll keep in your pocket but once the structural integrity is lost it's over it doesn't matter how
well it runs and how reliable it's been once the corrosion gets into the car and eats away at very
important structural components it's over there's no sense in spending any more money on it it's
going to be in the vehicle graveyard in no time flat so that's what you need to do for pennies a day
for if you gave up one coffee once a week and put that money aside what it costs to protect your
vehicle from heavy corrosion and the the acids from the road salt and they were they were spraying
the roads just the other day and i if it's wet i try and avoid driving on the wet spots
because i don't want that stuff anywhere up on the paint up on the glass because like i said
i lost a windshield from it you it just it embeds itself and it's over it's absolutely over do not
do under car spraying at the car wash do not again do not go for the under spray at the car wash
very very bad for all the components underneath your car don't don't listen to whoever's selling
it trying to sell you that under spray for a few more bucks it will ruin your car
the salt that gets on the outside of the car on the skin on the paint on the surfaces spray it off
when you can but particularly on a day when the sun you know the sun's going to come out wash it off
early so that you can park the car in the sun and it will dry up any moisture that's another hint
so on a on a cold day don't wash it off because the acid will not
it won't wake up it's the easiest way for me to explain it it if it's cold and it's really cold
out the acid in the salt will sleep but as soon as it warms up that's when it activates so you
don't want to be spraying your car down when it's freezing cold outside wait for a day when the sun
is going to be shining for sure that's a day when I head over to the car wash in the winter and I'll
spray it down wash it down and then get it parked in the sun so that the sun can help me out and dry
it out so thanks for stopping by today I hope you got some nuggets out of that if you ever have
