Scotty goes to Adam LZ's World Tour Australia

Prince. How are you, gentlemen?

Doing good. Thank you very much.

Good to hear, good to hear. Lots of car related shenanigans

over the weekend. Lots of stuff that's happening

which which will cover tonight's episode.

We're going to be covering some would you rathers as well.

But first and foremost, Scotty though Johnson, you were at the Adam LZ or as we were saying in in the United States in United Nations of Tracy. I'm sure Adam LZ is drift tour

with the the The Drift World Tour, right?

Yes, yes, that was that. Tell us about it.

What's going on? I know a few other people went

there, you know static from went there and and a few other people on the show seemed to have went. So it seems like it was a pretty

massive event like like pretty huge thoughts.

And yeah, I wanted to know how you, how you enjoyed the the time. Yes, I went on Saturday and

Sunday, so I did the both. And the way it worked on the

Saturday was. It was qualifying and then the

people didn't. That didn't make the top 16 went

into another competition and the ones that came out on top.

I think it was down to the top three, got to go into the top, the top 16. Into the competition for the

Sunday, that's pretty cool. So there's still a lot of

drifting and not just the qualifying but also some tandem events too, so we got to watch that.

It was all organised really well, it was pretty much starting on the times that they said and the commentators I thought were were really good that they had.

So that was that was enjoyable. You could sit there, find a spot

and listen to them too at the same time.

They have some big screens up, so you could sort of see things close to that. There were, there were a couple

couple screens up there too because it was also streamed.

So if you didn't go, you can watch it on Adam's, Adam's channel if you like. It's got day one and day two up

there, so you can watch that. And that's pretty much exactly

what we saw. They had drones flying around so

you can see up close with the drifting and so that that was really, really good. Plenty of things.

You could try and join a line to buy some merch if you wanted to.

I'm laughing because some of the lines were massive all the time, so. If you wanted anything of Adam,

Adam, LZ, the line was huge. He sold out pretty much

everything. I reckon there was just some

T-shirts and that left by the end.

That went crazy and. Would have been happy about

that. Yeah, and keep it real Line was

probably the second biggest one. So they had plenty of things to

to buy there too. It was good to see them go out

drifting. It was like professional but but

not so. It wasn't really down to, you

know, you have to use your own. And that's it because some of

them were actually borrowing each other's car, so they go out and have a run because we're having some issues.

Yeah, so Animal said had issues with the car that he was using, so they keep it real. Guys let him use the RB20 AU, so

that was going out for a thrashing and Jimmy Oakes was using a four door R33. That that event Colette was

using an R32, so there was plenty of drifting going on and just, you know, someone's car breaks down or breaks something that we're happy to let someone else share and borrow.

So it didn't. It didn't limit what we could

see, if that makes sense. So, you know, if there was

issues like that, they'd be like, OK, the drift.

The drift. You know, that's the winner.

That's it. So you got to see it more and

that's kind of what I liked. So, but it was so professional.

The drifting we got to see was just top notch.

Yeah. So in the qualifying, you know

they were already dishing out like 90 twos.

And that's like in their first runs and stuff like that.

So if you got a 92, you'd be lucky to be in the top five because there's so many good runs.

With the scoring, I must say it's.

Good. Drift track at College Park, the

way they've set that up and you can run right along the wall.

So there's a lot of wall bashing along there and.

Clipping the stickers so they'd hit the stickers and the stickers would all fly over the fence and hit people.

But the drifting, that close to the walls, the other thing was a lot of interesting combinations for drift cars that we got to see. Youths were represented, so that

was great. There was a V8, BMW.

I've got to look more into this. It sounded like an absolute

beast. It must have so much talk.

That thing was dropping so much smoke.

See. Not 100% sure, I'll have to try

and get some more info. I didn't get much info on that

one, but that was awesome to see.

There was the Nissan Prairie. That was running I TB's and a

2JZ that was stroked out to three point 3.2 I think or 3.4.

That was a yes. That thing was awesome.

Out on track sounded sick too. When I first heard it, I was

like, I don't know, like, I don't know what engine is in this thing. I need to know.

You can carry seven people in relative comfort.

Yeah, well then they brought out the other minivan, which was a the Honda Odyssey, and that thing was packing to Jay-Z on the bonnet too. And it had bride seeds at the

front and two bride seeds in the back, two that you could sit in.

That thing was cool, so I took that out.

Gave that a good thrashing and drifting.

We got to see a little bit of a six rotor.

From New Zealand, so that was cool.

The six rider? Yeah, that sounded fantastic.

Mad Mike was there and he's 3 rotor MX5 and that thing was NA and shooting huge flames. I swear I know how he got his

name. Mad Mike he is.

He's insane. Just insane.

So good after every run in that he just started doing massive burnouts and he's he's nuts. I don't know how you can drift

something that well, it's an MX5, it's such a short body, it shouldn't be that capable. But he was always doing like

reverse entries, the way he's just thrown in the corners and just easily just catching it again and off he goes.

That was unbelievable to see. I must say.

Adam, LZ come. Adam's come a long way.

He was really good. He's laying down some good, some

good lines, especially in a car that he hasn't driven.

Right hand drive too, to make it even harder.

Even did well when he took out the U with the RB20IN it.

It's a couple S fifteens. One of them was an LS, another

one. With the two J SO2J was fairly

popular but the good news is it was an Aussie that won alright and in his four door R33 which still got an RBI in it so that was good and also to represent Australian third place was a Ute so that was good to see. Yeah, it was good to see.

Came out there in 3rd place though.

There was a good K Corolla too that was packing in a V8 Supercharged 2. That was awesome and that was

some good drifting when it came to some of the show cars.

So they had, if you've ever been to Colder Park, where they got the whole drag strip that was just on both sides of the drag strip, angled park all the way, along with a lot of show cars you could check out. You can walk down the drag strip

and say, well. Yeah, yeah.

So just get to walk down the drag strip and you got cars on either side of you to check out and have a look.

Plenty plenty there to look at. They had another section with

some more cars. It was like 5R34 GTR.

I've never seen so many other like the.

I think I sent you the photo with the three white ones together. Yeah, and there was a yellow

one. There was.

There was another 1 that the yellow ones are pretty well known car. It's been around for a.

Very long time. So what sort of man?

Sorry, Scott, I was just gonna ask, what sort of money did the weekend cost? Like a ticket for the weekend?

Each day was 75 bucks. OK, that's pretty reasonable.

Too long like brawl out content. That was, I think Saturday was a

bit cheaper. You could buy it as, you know,

like a Saturday Sunday pass if you wanted to.

I think it was only like 65 but then 75 for the Sunday.

OK, but parking and all that was for you didn't have to pay for any parking there. Although it wasn't the best

trying to leave because they park you in the Thunderdome.

Yeah, and then it was a free for all to get out.

So. So you picture all those cars

all trying to narrow down from like 20 lines that they've made into one to go under and out. There's no one there to guide

that. That was that was funny.

I was like, Oh my goodness, I've done that before.

It's it's a long wait. Yep, but even after the whole

whole event finished, they just let cars go out OK.

So you know the other Drifters that had finished out, they could just go out there and just have a bit of a free for a walk out there for a bit of fun. There's an S13 with a massive

supercharger attached on the front.

Big V8, that thing, absolutely shredded tyres.

That was good to say. But yeah, overall it looks like

they'll probably come back next year is what they're already talking about and they want to make it bigger and better.

If they could make it bigger and better, I mean, if it even it was just the same, I'd be happy, I'd go again.

There's plenty of spots where you can sit.

We found a good spot on the grass where you could almost see the whole drift and then around around the wall a lot of people got up nice and close to the wall.

That was probably the best, the best spot to watch them try and ride the wall as close as they could.

Going flat out, so that was a fun part there too.

Yeah. Yeah, well I I did buy a few

things, so I got this from Mighty Car Mods fans.

OHS. That's good for power.

Yeah, I got the I got the T shirt too.

Same thing. And then I got a couple posters.

So I'm a sucker for posters. OHS yeah.

Japanese GDR touring cars. That's very cool.

And I got the Pennzoil 34 GTR. Very nice.

And then? So is that an Australian car

that Pennzoil won? And beyond all through three

GDR, the HKS one that was the what was the world's quickest GDR back in the day? Still around somewhere in

someone's garage in Japan. But yeah, I think that's what

started it all with. The back of a workshop with

grass growing through it. Delivery and everything on it.

So I think that's what everyone loved and remembered was, is that HKS delivery that became pretty famous.

Yeah, I think that's all I can think of.

There was just it was just really, really good.

Sunday weather wasn't the best, but I'm glad the rain pretty much stayed away. Like there was some showers

coming through, but it didn't rain enough to.

To wet the, to wet the track enough, yeah, like get hard for them, so. Just a little bit chilly.

Was coming back from Castle Main about or probably. 3:30, quarter

to four. And we were coming down towards

the BP and I I thought someone was burning off.

You know, there was like literally smoke in the air and and I said to my mate, Gee, oh, looks like something's on fire or and as we got, we just got this waft of rubber through the events of the car, we were like, yeah, OK, that's what's going on. Yep, Yep, Yep.

Yeah, that's what was happening. Yeah, that was it.

Was good to see all those great Drifters out there and.

Just find some new Drifters, especially Australian ones that I didn't really know that Now I I follow on Insta so I can keep tabs on them and see how they're going.

Nice. Because I wasn't really, you

know, I didn't really know anyone that's in the Australian drift scene or anything like that.

So it was good to see them and see the cars that they use and now follow them and if they got a YouTube page, follow that too.

So yeah, overall awesome event. And if you haven't seen it, you

can catch it on on YouTube too. There's a live stream for day

one and day 2 that's on Adam LZ's channel.

Madison never was part of the insane Drifters back in the day when I feel like they're, you know, that's going back on.

If you think 20 years. And he had an S13 and and I was

one of the things I say, he's like, he's like, you have to hate your car to be a drifter, but you have to physically hate it because you have no mechanical sympathy.

You just got to beat the living crap out of it.

And and he's like, people crack when they break, but he's like, well, you're treating it like it's not meant to be treated, but you're meant to be. You meant to go over what's what

the car can, you know, physically do.

And that always stuck with me. And then I was watching him

drift and he virtually reverse injuries into corners and just just going crazy. I was like, you know, it's

actually really cool. So that that he was the guy that

got me into drifting and you used to get a quarterback a lot and and you know a bit of a future event since and but this sounds like it went off like really, really well.

So yeah, I'd be keen to go in and see again.

That'll be a lot of fun. Yeah, I'd definitely recommend

it. It's just a great day.

Even if you just go on one of the days, you still get everything that you want. So perfect.

So I'm assuming there be no car place then because you you you, that's your. Yeah that's that's that was that

was my car update. I was looking at.

That was me up that. Big scheme to finish the year

31, yeah? Plates with me.

I found out why the brakes in the scamp weren't I as good as I'd like them to be because the one I was rear wheel cylinders was leaking. So I now have two rear wheel

cylinders to be way the receipt or if I can find 9 sixteenths seals for them, which is not an easy size to get evidently but that's what you get for having a 50 year old car.

So yeah, I've got I've got a lead on a place tomorrow so I'll see if I can get get those. Did enjoy actually watching?

I'm not sure if it's the latest one, but it's fairly current.

I wish to read Driven episode last night where he compared to Cavans. Did you see?

It the Suzuki space here in the Honda inbox couldn't wipe the smile off his face. It was it was very entertaining.

I think they were obviously go get their age in Sydney so I he says There's no association but Gee they go get our.

Should have paid him. He gave them a really good rap.

I really enjoyed them. That was pretty entertaining and

it was good. The way you addressed a few

things. I mean people have concerns

about them being able to get getting parts and and things for them. But the overriding thing is you

know they're they're What really struck me was the fact that they said that the most popular class of car in Japan, he said so all the manufacturers make them the best they can to succeed and and they do, they sell in the millions over there.

So yeah, good reliable little things.

That was entertaining. Well done.

Um, I've done a bit of I need to work out one night this week to go and pick up my Civic Waggon, but that's up in the Dandenong.

So I've got to. I'm gonna work out away to do

that. But that's a job for not

tonight. Another night.

I think that's all done. New head gasket timing is

already done. The distributors turned around

and rotated on a a culture to to sort out that problem.

Yeah. So I'm looking forward to

actually getting to drive that. And then we got another big show

coming up on the 12th. 4th of November at Sandown as part of

the historic Sandown, So we'll hopefully have it on display there, I think So yeah, I think that's about me for the moment.

Not much from my end, but actually when was it last?

Last Saturday, Saturday before I think Saturday before actually during the week I went and started the car, I was going somewhere and I could hear a massive.

Vibration sound going through through the car.

Yeah I was like and that was only whenever I call started once started driving, yeah it it it went away.

So every time I call started it it I could I could hear it there and I knew it was something to do with the exhaust anyway.

So I took it down and what had happened was when they split the exhaust into two twin pipes, the right hand side of the bracket, the world had just broken off. So they rewelded that back on.

But there is still a slight sound still coming so I think.

It's it's hitting one part of the chassis somewhere.

I just haven't got got around to to looking at it.

But it's only when happens when it's cold starting, I think it just vibrates that much faster. Yeah, yeah, it's that much that

it's it's hitting something and then once I drive off they just yeah, after like a couple of minutes it's like, yeah, just dies out. But yeah, that's the only thing

that we probably need to look into when I do get some time.

But other than that, nothing. Just enjoying it and that's it.

Just putting some more caves on it with me.

I've been enjoying my life too. So I've I went, picked it up and

had some time been away from work so I gave it a clean and I was gonna take it this weekend to the I think the 40th anniversary of the MR2. Yeah Sandown, but I'm probably

just have an easy weekend I think just to recover.

So keep it clean, really enjoy driving that car.

It is so much fun. It's it's it feels like it feels

special. Every time you drive it gives

you a sense of occasion like if it feels like you know you're in something different. Not a, you know, not just a

standard car which was kind of nice.

So. So I've been trying that a

little bit and just, you know, putting some keys on it.

I realised that until last week I've only driven it like 6 times the whole year. So so I'm just gonna, you know

it. It expires this month, so I'm

just gonna daily that for, for for for the future.

So I can, you know, get my, get my, get my comments.

Um, what else have I done? Thought my brother's car while I

while he's away. Yeah, he's like, well, can you

can you, you know, turn it over for me, You know, give it a run?

Cheese and things loud. I've got like the whole house

shakes. It's it's it's so freaking loud

and it hurts because when you gonna open up all the doors because the ethanol content is just only any thought.

It just it just burns your eyes like your eyes like fire like ohhhhh my eyes there are windows open doors open.

I'm trying to fair that place and yeah, it's it's.

Saddled up on 7:00 on the Saturday morning that don't like the neighbours dislodging, I'll have to show you and things go down. That would have been fun out at

Cole Park, would have fit in nicely with all the other loud cars. Yeah he was he was wanting to go

to that actually with but obviously he's he's he's touring Europe at the moment but Jesus there like I, you know it started it and 85 takes, you know a couple of craisins like where and when it hits it like the whole ground it's it's like it's like an earthquake and my brother sent me a message like did you guys get an earthquake and yeah from starting your car.

Yeah, you know with A5 magnitude.

Yeah. Earthquake.

Obviously I didn't I didn't realise it was dead to the world but I said I said as a joke to him cause his car just ridiculously loud. So I I said to him, I said this

is just this is too much man. He's like Nah, but anyway, yeah,

I mean you guys have, I think have seen how loud that car is.

It's it's mind boggling. Bogglingly loud in terms of like

yeah and regretted his decision when he told him to give it a hit through the tunnel and deafened everybody.

That was so loud. I'm sorry, but it it's it's very

cool. It's called having loud comma

cheese I I yeah ethanol it it's it's it burns anyway so so so so that was that was me with. Did you did you find out what

Luke is driving in? In Europe, well, the Prague

though, I think, I think they got like a, I think they got like a a a Renault van of some description, he said.

So lot of kangaroo, but like a something else with with a whole bunch of seats in it. So seats here like a multi

seeded thing, yeah, yeah, yeah, OK.

Like it's like a traffic I think you said but not a traffic I think like something different there so so it is but but yeah he's he's enjoying his time over there.

He started sick like me so and so he his little guy got sick and then and then his wife got sick now he's sick.

So enjoy the last few days but that's just that's just how it is. But yeah that's been that XR.

I got a good good job on my mom over the weekend.

I've got a couple of clips from the records that I that I back on. I only need to find one more

look for it and then the whole thing's meant.

We have to get the the there's a couple holes fixed up Mr. That's

right. I'm waiting for it to arrive in

my driveway. For some, I can bring it down to

you whenever your whenever you're ready.

Thomas, the guy that that we went to Japan with, they've been on the show and good friend of the shows and I think Edward and David got sick of us doing this. We were like what would you

rather like the whole time was what was doing, what would you rather and give each other scenarios.

We at Universal Studios in Asaka and Japan waiting to go on on this God forsaken roller coaster which he made me go on and I I hate rides. I proceeded to use many

profanities and yelled at him like why did you make me do this? Why did you as we're dropping

like 40 stories and and and he's like yeah that was terrible I'm like you think good anyway but the karma stuff down before getting on this on this ride we were doing a whole bunch of what would you rathers and and there's a couple of them that that that I'm not gonna touch with with you guys to get to your opinions but first of all Mr Prince you had a you had you had a couple cracking ones and we'll start with.

Look I think we've we've sort of touched on some of them before but a couple of things have happened in the last few days that brought brought, undermined the so.

Fast or slow the of the old DL chestnut I I was pontificating the other day to someone who's very close to me saying you know how much I like an FL Five one day and and they they just turned to me and said you know you're not a typical guy.

And only need one more way. I was gutted and then in and

then in another way I thought you you completely right.

I think it would be wasted on me.

I I think I'm too invested in in in driving a slow car fast rather than a fast car slow. So they would always say wash

your mouth out with soap. Yeah, I can be a time.

I got up. I want to be as I go and.

I'd like to be part time chopper guy.

I think borrowing someone to type out, it's like getting a boat or a swimming pool. The best one to have is probably

someone else 's, yeah. But but yeah, I think.

As I said, we have talked about on the podcast before, but like an MX5, there's not many cars in the world that are more fun to drive than an MX5, and that's not a fast car.

It's something about the whole, the way the whole thing comes together and the package and the dynamics that it offers.

The. Whereas in a fast car you're

just gonna be so. Hamstrung by regulations and and

speed restrictions and all that sort of thing that you really just not going anywhere and touching its performance for 90% of the time. Club.

Club level motor sports, Fantastic way to get to enjoy a fast car on a track and. What do you talk about quarter?

Before? It made me think of the last

time I drove around. Quarter was in a scam.

So I mean, you can actually have small car fun on big tracks too.

It's just a long way around a big track in a scam, I've got to say. With the see there's I watched

the video today about the MX5 and they said there's gonna be a future classic one because that nobody, no company makes a car like anymore. Cause like even like the

cheapest performance cars are really powerful these days.

Like a G86 would smash it. Like they are seriously fast

cars and you know there's one that makes a really underpowered but fun sports car to drive and the other people are doing a Mazda. And in 20 years if it doesn't

exist, we're gonna, we're gonna be driving all these hyper cars.

I mean look the honest, if you talk about the current one is a ridiculously fast car. Like what?

Like let's not be around the Bush there.

Like it is a fast car. It is.

It is a, you know, weapons grade machinery that can go around 1/4 faster than virtually any faster than, you know, 40s and super cars from the 80s and 90s and 2000s even.

So you know to to fully explore a car like that it's it's very hard and you have to be like, you know, God level, you know, driving, you know, to to be able to complete an accident.

But it makes 5. You can have a lot of fun doing

under the speed limit and you you feel like, you know, you feel like Peter Brock, you know it's it's a it's one of those it's it's one of those really cool catches and the same thing with why but what I feel with the MR2, David, like I feel like I can push that super hard and be well under the speed limit and enjoy myself and have me smiling the whole way and you'll be like there's a lot to be said about stuff like that.

And and Adam was saying in the in the video we talked about before our only YouTube channel with the, he said for the 80% of your driving that you've got to do, why not have fun in that 80% as well. You know want to enjoy that time

as much as you can. And that's what you're saying

about the KKK vans that you know he said not only they fund to drive, you know they've got a real sort of ego that little 3 cylinder thrum that that 660 engine puts out.

So it sounds really eager. It sounds like you're going

fast. But he said also directions from

the people. He said he's never driven

anything that's given him as much sort of, you know, high fives and thumbs ups and all that sort of thing from people.

So, so yeah. So I'm I'm firmly entrenched I

think as it was pointed out to me quite sadly but truthfully yeah, I'm a small slow car fast sort of go out.

I think these aren't the electronically must punish around like all the time. And like, yeah, like I'm I'm

probably a slow car loud car. Yeah, I'd be, I'd be that like

where like you know, like you you.

Punch it and like it'll be loud but like you're not going that fast but you're still you're still within the limit you know whereas like if you've got a car that is fast, by the time you get to that I think sound level or enjoyment factor you're like already over the speed limit so and and that's like.

When, when can you do that? You know when, When can you do

that? Where can you do that, you know

and listen on on a legal track to do that, to hear that you're never gonna enjoy that, you're never gonna enjoy that car.

So I think for myself, I'm probably a slower car, but louder car. Yeah, well, when you had your

Mustang, I mean. Yeah, that was, that was that

was the quickest. No.

Yeah. But like.

But it was loud and you would enjoy it.

You know, you'd enjoy it like even when you took off from the traffic might be slow, but like you you'd still have that that will factor, you know that because of the the loudness of it and everything like that. Yeah.

And like, that's why I I think, yeah, having it like look slow doesn't mean necessarily mean to be like it needs to be like super slow where like you're struggling but like within limits, you know within within regulations of the law and everything like that, but still have that that loudness behind it. I think that's that's probably

the best way that cause like again with that video today about the about the MX5 they were like the car that got out of before I went into the X files.

These are, these are professional, you know, Rd testers and they're like we got out of a a Corvette Z, like the 06, like the latest, you know, C8 scene or whatever it is cool about. You know, you know performance

car. And you have to be driving well

over into 3 digits in mph to get any sort of fish out of it because that was because below that it was like it's got nothing. You have to.

Yeah. You have to get a race track to

wake it up to actually enjoy it. You know how hard car, you know,

you can join. You can enjoy all the time.

You know. And and I think there's a lot to

be said about that. You know, like I've said a few

years my laser was always more fun to drive than my typhoon.

You know, in a, you know, on in as an everyday drive because it's basically I can get in and out of traffic.

I can put, I can be flat, you know, flat footed everywhere and I'm not breaking the speed limit.

Yeah. That's fun.

You know. And it's a fun little car you

can just check around and that's part of, you know, it's part of the reason why I bought the Fiesta because I wanted something that that, you know, had all those attributes in, you know, in in a, in a, in a car. And the first is like, I mean

200 horsepower a lot. It's a lot of power.

Like people say, oh that's that's nothing.

But it's like it actually is like it's it's generally a quick car and you, you, you, you, you realise quickly like wow you actually going well over the speed limit there were doing you know going around that corner. So like, but yeah it's still.

It's still like that, that that sense of fun in you and and and and I love that and it just proves that you have to have like my brother 1000 horsepower to have, you know, like.

Yeah, it's only seen these protests.

Yeah. Well, he does listen and he

knows how I feel about it. Well, well, what would would

also hopped out of the car? Why he's like I'm like dude, the

cars eventually a race car at this point he's like yeah he's gonna he's gonna need another like fun kind of you know charging drive so you guys wanna see 63.

But that's that's beyond the point is it's you know you can have tonnes of fun in in a car like this little bit of noise or or even though it's slow like you know like we'll talk like Robert Harley are are are very low and slow kind of guys like they've got their FLF trucks that are low and slow you know like they just make a bit of noise super cool you know they got full patino, bit of rust big wheels and anatomy is cool.

Like it's, you know, people be like, yeah, respect, you know, like that. That's, that's kind of a cool

thing. I think with that.

With that it's probably like the the size you know cause that like it's it's it's not fast but like it's the the well fact of you know it's an F truck, it's a it's the size of it.

No, like that's that's probably the like, it's not meant to be fast, but it's it's meant to be like, you know, adored it.

So it needs to at least have an amount of power where I can do that. And in saying that, it doesn't

mean I need something that's got like 4 or 500 horsepower, you know, I only need a couple 100, and that's all my Subaru's got.

It's got enough for me to quickly pick up where I can and do an overtake and then move over.

It's not the fastest car at all, but it's not the slowest car either. So I think I kind of sit in the

middle. But my problem is, once you get

used to that power, I can't. You kind of just start chasing

more, like I can't. Yeah, there's no limit.

Some people can be happy and go, yeah, this is enough power, there's awesome fun and drive that the whole time.

Yeah, unfortunately I kind of can't do that.

But again, that depends. But again, that depends what I'm

using the car for. So if I'm already in the mindset

that I'm just going out for a drive doesn't phase me, I can just plot along and. You know, go for a bit of a

spirited drive here and there, that's fine, but.

The council a daily. It needs something where I can

leave this quickly, go book and overtake if I need to.

So I'm not sure where I sit, not sure where I am on that on that.

Maybe. Maybe you need two cars?

Yeah, just depends. Depends what I'm doing.

But you know, I want one. I prefer one that handles really

well in the hills and I can give it the beans.

Then something's got heaps of horsepower and I've got to be really careful on. The accelerator and things like

that want something where handles really well is what I prefer. Then straight line, like what's

offering, you know it's got 270 kilowatts, right.

Like that's what came with the battery and that's heaps like it's heaps of hell. Like I I never whenever,

whenever I'm overtaking anybody or you know going long distance, I'm putting my foot down. Like I've never once said, you

know what I do with a few more power you know horsepower there.

Like you know I'm now never needed this never needed to do.

It's plenty enough when I take it for some drops in the corners and and some good roads plenty, plenty enough for that.

So like, yeah, you get the thing like how much is like a like a good amount. And and I always said like you

know a nice amounts 200 horsepower like that, that's pretty much all you need like like a 200 Roosevelt like you know obviously relative to the size of the car, you know 200 horsepower in let's say a, you know a Commodore would be a bit different to 2 horsepower in a DS stuff.

You know, yeah, power to weight etcetera.

But you know, like 200 can get you out of trouble and it's it's plenty enough in in terms of what you know, what you need to do. I think the problem is you get

addicted to that feeling. Of that power at 1st and

obviously you get used to it. So you keep chasing that and you

keep going with more power, more power, so.

And that's where you get into trouble.

Yeah. When I had the 34 GDI like that

thing was like a rocket I would. Keep it a bit in second gear and

then I'd skip 3rd and just put it straight into fourth like it would just was like, my goodness.

But then I got used to it. I was like, I'm going to buy

this, get this boosted up more, and you start chasing because you want that feeling again that you remembered when you first drove it. And I think the best way to

probably get that feeling is if you drove it maybe once every couple weeks or something, kind of forget about it and how it felt when they get back in like, whoa, yeah, that's right.

I remember that. I think because I used it as a

daily, I used the Evo 8 as a daily.

You're driving that all the time, so you get used to that power. And that I feel like it's

enough, yeah. Yeah.

And you don't feel like, yeah, exactly.

You don't feel like it's enough anymore.

She's like, well, you know, I'm not being thrown back in the seat anymore. And the reason is because your

body is prepared for it. It knows when it when it's about

to kick in. And your body, without even

thinking, is already embracing, ready for it, compared to your passenger next to you that's been thrown back.

Maybe the key is to have a a really daggy slow.

Horrible car to drive as well so that then you can just drive that everyday and then get every time you get into your your other car you'll think well this is amazing.

I can remember years ago I used to drive a mini bus for an organisation a bit and I would, you know, I'd take a whole bunch of kids out in this bus and go every were going and I'll come back and I'll get back in the bike cave 35 Corolla at the time I think and it felt like a sports car getting back into this role and he was no sports car, I'm telling you.

But it felt so good because it was you know, small and nippy and manoeuvrable and and compared to this.

Maybe you have a you have a sort of slug car for your second car and then you drive that and then you've got something to to enhance the experience whenever you want to drive your good car guys. We all buy scamps and.

bit about this one too recently because and it buys in that whole barn. Barn fine thing too, doesn't it,

Sometimes charity said, auctions, what they asked for, barn fights, complete with the dark dirt and stuff, and sometimes they even go for more than a restored example.

But you can spend a lot of money restoring a car A lot of people have, and a lot of people have spent the money and got them to the point where they were far better than the car that ever was new. And lovely to look at, but where

would you park it, you know, are you, are you afraid of driving and is it better to have something that's hasn't been restored, got a little bit of patina about a couple of marks on it and stuff. So I suppose, you know, one of

the litmus tests would be if you wanted to spend $250,000, say on the 9/11, would you buy a beautiful, fully restored nut and bolt restoration or would you rather look for something that's been, you know, driven, maintained, loved, but not restored? That's a big dilemma, because

for for a few reasons, I guarantee that Restored one will drive better. It will look better, it'll feel

better, it'll feel tighter and it'll be like, brand new, right?

But it'll be better than you. Because, like, the way we can

pass here today are far better than, you know they were originally. But you'd be too scared,

especially with two 50,000, like, actually Porsche, are you?

You'd be too scared to take it anywhere, right?

You get like a usable 1. You still a few things got your

it's got a bit of patina it's it's got it shows it shows its character you'd be more comfortable driving at that but it it it it it it feel you know in that it comes like an old car unless it's been you know it's been had all of the suspension and bushes and everything updated to you know to to today.

So it's kind of like you know you're you're you're putting this it's like a two sided coin here where there is no one getting the pristine car but you don't get a mark on it or two you getting the car draw. It looks like an because it is

an old car and still very original that you can possibly these every day but you know you you in the back of your head you be like oh it is it is all you know it's probably it's probably hasn't had an engine rebuild probably needs a few little things here and there that also might be my pain in mind that you can you can possibly give us give us somebody could give us somewhere. So that's a really tough that's

a tough one like when you put that in I was like I don't know what to choose here because cause like instantly like that thought played in my head. I'm like you're getting a car

that's virtually brand new or Carnage 2 original.

Good thing about original cars that have been driven is that there have been driven right like and and then they maintain and they've been they've been on the road and so that gives me that gives me good you know good good good feeling because I present my MR2. Right.

It's got over 325,000 kilometres.

But yeah, it's catching up, but it drives really well because it's been maintained, right, Like and it's got Dings and scratches and and you know, the body's not perfect.

But like I parked at the shopping centre, they wanna do my groceries and I was like, oh, you know, I wasn't looking for, you know, spot miles and miles and miles away.

I was like, oh, you know, it'll work.

It's so small that even if you open your door you won't get hit anyway. But, you know, I I wasn't as

worried. Whereas if I took my, let's say,

Fiesta to to Akaba, I make sure I park it miles away from everybody else and no one, not you know, no one thinks the door. So I guess those things come to

mind and but in terms of like what?

Like to have I don't know, maybe I'd love to have a driver because I'd actually be able to enjoy it, but gotta be nice to have a really pristine version of it.

Maybe the key, maybe the key then just thinking on the head is is to to you know be be very mindful the restoration you do so that you actually do a mechanical restoration, you know bushes and and and upgrade breaks and all those sorts of things. If you can make the car

completely reliable and drivable and not go to town on the body like some people, you know, I mean some people can spend you know 30, forty, $50,000 on the body work or more, you know.

And then you end up with something that as I said before is far better than the original level was.

I really I think. You know, quite some of the cash

flows would go to, you see some really cool cars.

You know they're missing bits of paint and all that sort of thing and and that maybe that's the answer.

Maybe you you spend half the what you would on full restoration and you make sure it's absolutely nothing but reliable and turn key and everything and leave the body a bit. But I think the keyword is

presentation, like you still, you still keep representable, right? So like.

So, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, you could have.

You wouldn't have a completely clapped, you know, it would be completely shot like you make sure like it looks presentable.

You'd be like, no, that's a really original car and there's to be set up in a very original. I mean, turn your Mustang was

very original. I think I had painted it.

No, no, no. That was a very super original

car. And I mean, it's gotta you saw

that car, it was a really nice. Example Yeah, yeah.

And it was it was usable as a rabbit and and you know you you didn't feel scared to take it out.

You drove it in the right drove it.

Everywhere I drove, yeah, that's the thing.

Look daily or not daily, just just to drop just a draw driver.

restoration. No matter, no matter the cost.

But obviously the restoration to your liking because obviously when you rest all the car it's you want you restore it to what you want, what you want in there.

How you want it you know and stuff like that And you know me, I'd. I'd drive it anywhere I'd drive

it in rain hailstorm. I'd.

I just drive it anyway you know maybe not hail but but I'm driving in rain. I don't I don't care if it gets

dirty you know I go that's that's that's what you're to wash it you know to wash it and keep it clean.

That's the that's the part of enjoying a car.

You know you you need a. You need to get a dirty to to

wash it and and enjoy it. So I would for me I would do a

restoration and and drive it. I don't mind.

Look I know yes you're going to get these little Dings and stuff and depending where you gonna park it and all that stuff you know you're gonna get people that are that don't care.

They don't know what the car is. They don't care what the car is.

They're just they're just gonna open the car doors as as well as they can and knock yours. But I on the other side is like

if if you if you're robbed suffocation and you're restore it yourself, then I don't think you would have an issue to.

To redo it, redo anything or if you do get any little major you know knocks on it And nowadays with like this pointless.

it, I'll be like, no, I need it to look at original or something. And yeah, it just feels like

it's a museum piece and I change it, but.

That's the scenario that I had with the Mustang, because that was, that was all original and I was like, should I change it?

Should I not, You know, do I change it but still keep the motor? So then if I want to just change

it back to original, I can, you know.

So yeah, it was. But then I just made up my mind.

I'm like my stuff. I'll just going to change it.

It's going to be what you want. It's like the old argument that

Ed said, you know when people would come in and and they'd say, oh, you know, by I better buy a silver Mercedes or a black BMW or whatever because for resale by the Kelly, you know like it's, you know, mean green. And green. 100% you know like I

just I just think it's some yeah just following on from what you said Tara and your car you want to enjoy it the way you want to enjoy it so you do what you want to it.

anyway but we've got, we've got some, you know, top coat creams that we can rub on them will make them glossy if that's what they want. But be here the paints.

That pretty well beer are I've got a bit of an aversion to like doing redoing things that don't need to be redone.

Certainly it's another whole other argument if the if the paint is really bad. I mean, do you believe it really

bad or do you respray it and but?

Again, I think the overriding PSR and said you you do what you want. If you with your car you enjoy

it the way you want to enjoy it so alright so I want to ask you this question before before you finish on this one.

Is there levels in which is there tiers for example like GTR phase three TR where if it's original you don't just just the general don't touch it but you might get like a 1970 car probably the same year like a really 16 that's worth you know under $10,000 that's just as mint and just as original you know but but you could still technically draw that because it's not it's not worth so much. I'll be saying in terms of like

how much the cars actually worth in terms of in terms of like you know what it's actually you know what it's worth in in dollar values or what it's worth to a person.

And I think I think that's where I think that's where like the different tiers of the different cars come into place.

Like Scotty would rather you know like a XY GT mock up with you know with with a with a 351 top loader and you know reliable with fuel injection you know for example and and reliable suspension and and and you know and that actually make the car go around a corner and not in your upgrade the brakes so you're not going to have drums in the rear and you know something that you can actually drive if you don't feel like this is actually arcade to drive.

So I think that there's different tiers into which you can which you can take this and it's.

Certainly you know to to be able to drive one as an everyday car would be good that in the red Integra is too good to do that with. It does have a scratch down the

side of the rear quarter which looks like it might have been the gate or the fence or something and it's just put a very slight grazing in the in the guard.

But I'm not going to repair it because it's.

Number one, you've got it. They match the paint to the

whole side of the car, which would be incredibly hard on a on a red rear reading Integra for like 35 years old.

But, but yeah, I'd rather leave that cause it's only when you look for it. I mean, I know it's there, but

you don't generally seek notice of something.

So I'd rather leave that there because it's sort of part of the story of the car. That's a whole other thing if

you know the history of the car from.

And from from new or from a lot of the history of the car and I think it can be allowed to have a few more bits and pieces on it because you know hey, where they happen it's like it's terrago you know like his uncle that he owned it from new.

You know it took him around and described every you know stone chip and every every increase in panels and knew exactly where they happened and when and and took took it through them in detail which made him laugh. But you know that that cars done

400,000 cars and it looks amazing for its kilometres.
