So it is a very worrisome thing andSo I'm here to tell you really don't worry at all because it's really not bad and so I'm gonna go throughJust the paperwork that Becky had me fill out and just to kind of get and then the paperworkI didn't have to fill out that she handled just so you guys understand what it actually takesTo make this happen and soWhat happens is is when it does get on the boat then Trevor sends you aThis clear nice clear little folder full of stuff that you're gonna need so

He sends us things like our exports certificate in JapaneseSo that's an original and then the converted export certificateWhich is yeah, yeah, it's kind of like a the title in a sense, right?

You know, it's very great a stoner and that's the EnglishYou knowTranslation for it so that when we go to register at its coolThree copies of the bill of lading which is pretty much thereceipt for the car going on to theThe cargo ship yeah, so you get an original and then two duplicates of that and it's coolIt's on this weird longer paper. That's really snog. It's actually the same paper

So and then he also sends you aBill of sale which you will need to register the car and get it through customs anywaysSo nice little bill of sale with the Kizzo stamp on itAnd so I believe that is the end of what Trevor sends with the car manHe didn't hook you up on the sale price for taxes, broIt don't work like that Japanese are very honest and they're not willing to skimp on anything so that you can save a few bucks

So that was so pretty much bill of sale bill of lading andExporcer certificate is what he is going to send you for the car. Yeah, and so

now it's time like whenBecky starts working with you. She's gonna send you some packets and she's gonna need something called an ISF form and it's

It's an importer or shippers letter of instruction and so this is something that you have to fill out about the carAnd it's really pretty basic, you know, it's just got my name and address andKizzo's you know name and address and what the vehicle is in the bill of lading number and so that's a pretty simple one to fill out thatBecky's gonna give youThere's a declaration for DOT and this is whatTells the people at the port that this car is in fact 25 years older and exempt and so I have to fill out this form because I am

Technically the registered importer at this point when you do it yourself you become a registered importer andSo I needed to fill this out so that it's likeI don't know what would you call that likeSo it's official so to speak you know filled out by the importer, you know like she couldn't fill this out for meAnd so you just have to check off the this vehicle is 25 or more years old and it is exempt from theFederal motor vehicle safety standards. Yeah, so pretty simple pretty easy one

Next up is an EPA form which is pretty much the same. You're just filling out the info about

The vehicle and yourself being the importerYeah, it's a declaration form. Well sketched out when I see the APA, but that was that was easy

That was easy stuff to fill out. It's really just your name and and your address and whatnot. It's really really pretty simple

So beyond thatOnce those were the two forms I had to fill out Becky kind of handled everything elseYeah, and so beyond that what happens is once the car landsThey give you Becky will send you a payment receipt and an entrySummary and arrival notice and soYou know the receipts the receipt, but these are the entry summary summary and arrival notice

Yeah, and so basically this is what you you have to bring everythingBut this is what they want to see at the port that it's arrival notice from your shipper with your info andExactly what was on it and so you know, it's all prettyPretty simple so and you get that as it leaves right you get this when it arrives. Oh, oh, oh you get that when it arrives

So those are the the things that she's going to send youAnd then at that pointIt was pretty much okay. I got all the paperwork

Okay, yep, so three days three days and then we were there sobasically at this pointShe gives you all the paperwork. They are releasing it to you and you can go get it at the port. Yeah, so

To this point I've filled out three pieces of paper. Yeah, that's it

I've written I've written my name and address on three pieces of paperThat is it. I haven't had to

Yeah, we went down and basicallythe port like offices on the corner of two different streets andThere's like just all these pull off some the street beside it. Yeah, so we find a place and we pull off on the truck and trailer

We're in this long long queue or anything either. I was kind of surprised of that. It was like

I talked to Christine who is the town manager and I'm like I got it. She's like wow good job. Whatever. So we continue the process. Yeah, and

soOh, wow, I just noticed thatShe put two thousand two on my title applicationIt's a 98 but she put two thousand twoI'm my title sorry, we just just realized I got a toe 2002 instead of a 98WowSo anyways dumb dumb dumb. Yeah, I mean always for free. Yeah, she like

She's doing her best. Yeah, yeah, no, that's hard another hang up that they had was like

The registration wants mileageNot kilometer right right right and then but the title has a spot for kilometersWhich is what the car actually is and what it should betitled under so we just had this problem whereShe's putting in 20,000 milesWell, she's trying to put in 34,000 kilometers, rightBut the registration won't take that so then she's trying to put in the miles in the registration

But it automatically copies it to the title application like it was just like another little headache, right?

Right, right, right, right, right, within their system looks like a yeahAnd so she ended up just kind of putting both so that uhI guess I don't know. I'm sure the title department is gonna get this and be like what is going on

If this is not a 2002 it doesn't actually have both miles and kilometer, you know like they're just gonna be like what the heckBut I mean this is still minor, you know because I'm walking out of there with a registrationI'm walking out of there with plates some one of the plate. Yeah, I'm walking out of there able to

Drive the car as soon as I get to plate on it, which is like what I need itIt was on like whenever I came in the neck like that day. Yeah, like yeah, it didn't waste no time

10 minutes in between me coming here and yeah, so that was kind of the thing wasumWe just need to get the plate right like from the minute I bought it until the minute I got the plateThat's all I needed to do was get the plate yeah in my head, you knowYeah, yeah, yeah because it has been a thing. Yeah, like I could register my car up here

And I had a title I had insurance and they would not let me register it. Yeah

But now I did with it like I don't know if something changed likeBut yeah, now I I have amain tag and like it wasFine. Yeah, it was fine. It was really nothing. It's so weird

But a couple of years ago when I first got the car it wasImpossible and I had to do stupid stuff to even get aGet a title and get it registered in the tag. So like right

There's definitely a reason to have some anxiety about like getting the plate because yeahThat's always a thing with these cars is likeYes, getting until you get that plate. Yeah, right until you get that you're sweating right and then in that in the title

With that then on it that matches the one that hasn't been vence walked for from a 240YesGet it completely legitimate is always the concern, but I feel likeI feel like I understand the process now. Yeah
