This is the cheapest, most basic version of a car you can buy. It doesn't have any of the fancy optional upgrades like heated seats, a sunroof, or premium sound systems.
This is a special type of baby car seat that can spin in a circle. Instead of awkwardly leaning into the car to strap your child in, you can turn the seat to face you, buckle them in easily, and then spin it back into the safe riding position.
This is a booster seat for older kids who have outgrown baby car seats but are still too small for the regular car seatbelt to fit them safely. It lifts them up so the car's seatbelt rests safely across their chest and hips.
This is a giant convention where car companies bring all their newest cars, trucks, and future designs for people to look at, sit in, and learn about.

Welcome to the carpool podcast with Kelly.
We had a barn shower last night and by a barn shower I mean I physically I made the water
warm not a monster and I hosed off my children in the barn like in the in the wash rack that
I went to and Liz I just don't think I like this stage of life that I am in that also
happens to be when you have a baby which is postpartum which is just like the worst.
Your mom time off starts now.
Welcome back to the carpool podcast with Kelly and Liz.
Hi, Seth.
Feels like I haven't talked to you in forever.
You are on vacay and like normally you're calling me so many times a day and now you're
like like you were too busy and it was weird.
I was too busy.
I also think in a way you're so busy and in a way you're just like so pregnant so you're
just like also very readily available so I think you're probably just feeling it.
Well yeah, I guess maybe.
Yeah the sun piece went on a family vacay and it was really fun.
Yeah.
Really everything I wanted and more it was fun to just go with my little fam.
Just like you know we leave places when we want to leave places you know we eat cereal
for dinner if we want to eat cereal for dinner like it was just so easy.
And it's the reason you're saying that is because like a lot of the times when we go
to the Ozarks it's like multiple families or mom and dad are there.
There's just like you're you know we've even got we've got three younger siblings like
that don't have kids so it's like oh they want to go do happy hour and we're like no
like you were on your own timeline your own world like the Stumpy and the Stumpy's wanted
to do and that's a very unique situation for our families.
Yeah, we had a blast.
My kids love the lake.
Like I think they actually like the lake over the beach you know that's like kind of crazy
to say.
I don't think that's crazy to say.
But lakes are they're so beautiful like it's so fun to like get on the water like remind
me if I'm wrong but on a beach you just like sit in the sand and that is fun
but I feel like there's more to do because if you're going down to the ocean you want
to go on a boat like that's cost more money look and now I'm my husband my husband the
whole time was just saying you know we're keeping receipts we were doing our total he
was being so crazy.
Someone did say you needed to put all of your your totals onto a travel credit card so that
way that could fund your next vacation.
That would have been a good idea.
Totally needs to learn more about the travel credit cards.
I don't think that's it I don't think that's a crazy thing to say I think that it kind
of depends on how you grew up because I don't know how to do the beach properly like I don't
know what blankets you need I don't know what the umbrella is like I don't like lugging
all that stuff to set up on a sandy beach like it doesn't sound like the most relaxing to
me where it's like when I sans kids when I am on a boat I am like the happiest person
in the world like I love being on a boat in a lake who doesn't it doesn't matter what
kind of boat it doesn't matter what lake if I'm on a pontoon boat in a small lake going
seven miles per hour I'm the happiest camper in the world.
See I agree I think I like I feel like if I ever do a beach vacation it's like I want
to go somewhere with a beach and like maybe we have a beach day or two but I couldn't
just like go down to Florida and go to the beach every day for four days or five days
I think I would get tired of that and I agree I have four kids you log a cooler you need
chairs you need a tank there's so much stuff that you have to take there at the lake to
post up you like can bring everything on the boat or you leave it on the dock or you have
it in the house like it just seems a little easier.
Yeah but again like we I just think we don't really grow up we've been to the beach but
like we've been to the beach we did not do yearly beach vacations growing up no we don't
like a beach house like I also think it may be different to if you had like a beach house
where it's like you could walk out onto the beach I don't know you mean like you rent
a house on the beach and then it's like yeah cool okay sure that feels different I don't
know I just I looked at my husband multiple times that week and I was like you were right
you were right because it's yeah it was fun it was but it was hard at times and I'm just
happy we were two hours from home in a place that we knew and the kids had a blast we went
tubing George and had he went tubing Fred doesn't really like the water which is fine
like doesn't want to go in it doesn't want to he likes the boat but he does not go in
the water we put George and had he on the tube Libby is Klein Klein at me to try to get on
the tube Klein she's she's she'll be two in September and I'm like what is she crying about
until I was like I think she wants to go and I'm like okay well I'm just I can't send her
on to George and had she's too little for that so I'm like give me the life jacket so then
me and Libby went tubing and she was I mean I've never seen her so happy she's she is such a
water bug she she was swimming in the lake she was we went to a couple restaurants that had a
pool swimming in the pool she loves the water the Kelly called me while she was on her vacation
one of the few times I got to speak to you and you said I just feel like I am I'm looking back
and reflecting like you're on the other side of the mountain where you're not you're not
pregnant you're not breastfeeding like you're not pulling down a wet swimsuit to try and like
feed a baby like you are no you're free you know the lake's very interesting benchmark for us
because we've been going there we've been Elizabeth and I have been going there our
whole life our dad's been going there his whole life so I have gone there every year I've had kids
and you know there was a time where every year was was getting harder and harder because it was
like that we go with George and the first year I went George was only five weeks old it was the
first place I ever went with him basically and it was you know I thought it was hard lol
lol with a five-week-old baby and then you know then the next year we had George and Hattie and
the next year we had George and Hattie but I was pregnant like and the next year we had Fred
like it was just it kept getting harder and I remember two summers ago George was four Hattie
was three Fred was 16 months and I was so pregnant with Libby mm-hmm no George yeah George was five
Hattie was three and I was so pregnant with Libby and I looked at her I'm like this is our
hardest summer like this is this is like the peak this is it and then it's downhill from here
and then the following summer we had the four kids but I would Libby was you know nine months
old but I wasn't pregnant so like the kids were older so it felt easier and this summer I got
emotional I literally did feel like I was looking I was on Everest looking down at all I had
accomplished and I was like I I survived that really not to sound too dramatic but I did survive
it and you were also saying to you just yeah you survived it and you you've always been and I could
tell you about this this about you before you even had kids like I always knew you were going to
thrive more as a kid mom just being the oldest of four siblings Kelly and I babysat our younger
siblings a lot like we were coming up with activities for them a lot like we we we hosted a
summer camp at our house like kids getting excited to do things is something that you've always
been really good at and I just I just always have known that you were going to thrive as a kid
mom and now you are kid mom like you're setting up the cones like you're setting up the stuff
you're making the meal your packet like you're just you're in your I love it I'm in like I'm
telling you I'm so I think could be peeking right now I'm gonna be so for real
oh that's just that thing to think about no I'm okay with that you gotta peek sometime
and it can be a long peak yeah but you know what I I I look at mom though and I think you might
peek more than once totally this is a peak though I'm just saying I am in a peak I Elizabeth and I
I mean I'll spare you like the offline combo because it was you have to have a certain sense
of humor but like I I don't like love babies you know what I mean no you're you I love my babies
but yeah I I am very excited to be a kid mom like you're not seeking out so if someone has
a baby you're not like can I hold them like that's not your personality no and I said I actually
kind of agree I but I don't think it's that I don't like having like a baby with me I just
don't think I like this stage of life that I am in that also happens to be when you have a baby
which is postpartum which is just like the worst maybe I just kind of wasted on a postpartum mom
you know baby stages wasted on a postpartum yeah no you know it's not because it's a joke it's a
joke no no but I mean like they're they're sweet like they're snugly like they're easier in some
ways when your life is also really hard yeah you're right but yeah it was a great great weekend
my kids are so fun I love my kids and yeah well happy for you I'm literally skipping the like
entirely this year because I just I'm too too pregnant to do well then you won't know
you won't have anything to compete you can imagine I mean yeah no I'm not doing it this
summer but that's okay that is okay something that Maddie and I are both kind of struggling with
Maddie more so than me is he's like I know you are pregnant and I know that he's like I see you
as pregnant and I just think like you're just like sick for a year what I can't conceptualize
is the fact that a baby is coming after this sickness I'm like yeah dude if I think about it
too long like I'm not okay and I'm like yeah no I think three is going to like really rock our
worlds like we're kind of getting in the groove with the two and you know no one's throwing up on
you anymore and I'm kind of like you because we have Fred and you know they're the
same ages and I'm just starting over and that is a hard thing to think about sometimes you might
surprise yourself who knows I felt like my probably best postpartum was after Fred okay that's good
to hear I was thriving after Fred that's good to hear I'm I think I'm definitely more in my groove
I've definitely I've definitely hit rock bottom bottom built my way back up from there so um
yeah you know we'll say well I just have a couple of um yeah so you're having to maybe like so soon
like 40 days okay yeah what's that about no one knows you don't have a name people are kind of
yeah but you know what next week um naming babies coming on the podcast for a consultation thank
goodness just in the nick of time yeah and then I do want to like give my prediction well I guess
I can't do that because I know the names you're considering I'm gonna offline though record what
I think you're gonna end up naming her and I'm gonna like timestamp it because I want to just
know if I'm right then I should be able to post that you know what I mean sure I feel pretty good
about my my guess okay um well I don't want to know what your guess is because I don't want to
influence me when I agree just want to say what I think because I know your list of names
I really love all of your list of names I feel like you really I do think you need to tell naming
baby offline the name so she like gets your vibe right or should we not do that no I don't do that
I want to know what she has to say same I love her I love the baby name I know that's one thing
I'm sad about that I'll never name another baby it's kind of exhausting so actually like would
not be too sad about that um anyway so that's coming up so soon also at the end of this episode
we have our first side hustle summer one of my favorite segments we do here on the podcast
and I don't want to give spoilers I don't want to give spoilers but it's uh it's a good one
it's a good one side hustle summer we did it last summer for those who don't know and it's just like
getting like women who have side hustles on the podcast to give ideas and we try and choose ones
that are interesting but also like tangible like yeah we understand that there are women across the
country listening to this podcast so like could you start this in your own area so that's what we
have on the yeah like we don't want to do a lot where it's like you know you have your a speech
pathologist who went on her own like and I'm so happy for you but like no one else I mean you
have to be a speech pathologist to be able to go on your own to like make it your own so it's like
just more tangible skills that you can learn yeah speaking of skills that you can learn I
want to kind of give an update on some of my summer goals I ordered fabric to reupholster my bench
you're gonna do it yourself absolutely not my mother-in-law texted me and said she can do it for
thank goodness okay yeah but I ordered the fabric did I get enough I'm not sure it's like I don't
know I got two yards so what about that is three feet yeah okay well that's fine it's not the
long of a bench okay it's a three-foot bench and I got two it's a four-foot bench and I got two I
got six yards okay but I don't know what the yard is the yardage is like across yeah I'm not sure
I bought the fabric it was an I have 37 dollars invested in this as of today okay as I want to
look at the dimensions just like double check on those dimensions I did I did I'm fine okay I mean
I don't know how much fabric you need to like go under I don't think it's much I don't think it's
much either so I ordered that spoon flower shout out they have the cutest fabrics and like they
just sell spoon flowers a very interesting website because like they just sell prints and then you
can like get that fabric to like whatever you want yeah so like the print that I like you scroll
down and you're like oh do you want it as a wallpaper a curtain a duvet cover napkins a placemat a pillow
shame crazy sheets tablecloth table runner t-towl throw blanket or throw pillow no it's like even
sane no it's insane so like if I like the fabric maybe I'll you know get a coordinating pillow to
put on the chair in my room too like I just don't know sure shout out spoon flower really like 10 out
of 10 situation there was a lot of fabric choices so I did choose that you know that's a really big
goal of mine for the summer also a big goal of mine for the summer house improvement projects
I don't think I spoke about this is I want to get shutters on my house I've been talking about it
since I moved in so stay tuned for that okay well some house updates for me Maddie built my dresser
for my baby girl that's going to my hallway you didn't send a pick I know I need to unfortunately
the um the artwork that I ordered I think is too small for the space uh I know luckily I love the
artwork and I could put it literally anywhere in my house and be happy I don't know how you're supposed
to know what size to order of things like Elizabeth I recently also ordered a piece of art
I like the art it came in two sizes I got the bigger size I'm not even sure where it's going
to go I agreed like this is exhausting art I hate interior
design I hate interior design and I guess I just like haven't had like a good interior designer
like come across my dad's because it's like I don't need a whole room redesign like I just need to
send you this area and tell me what like lamp and art to buy and I haven't like found that service
that doesn't cost like I did one and I got a quote and she's like well that would be a room design
and that starts at $1500 and I'm like well you're insane that's crazy I just need to know what art
and lamp to buy I just need to know what art and lamp to buy which is going to take like what's your
hourly rate that's going to take you an hour let's say your hourly rate's $100 okay right then
$100 and send me the affiliate link and I'll buy it through your link like that's what I'm
that's what I'm after too I'm telling you I haven't found that it has not
come across my desk yet so maybe I really don't think it's for I feel as though I have tried
yeah that's a bummer well so that's a summer there's an idea speaking of your interior design I've
got to share what has like Lisa like I love being a kid mom and I've got to share one of my new
favorite things new earth things I've been doing with my children and that is choose your own pillow
case let me just like talk people through this for a second so you know I'm very hesitant to like
ever share my kids sleeping arrangements because you know people really come from my neck every time
but my kids don't have I'm sorry I'm just not one my kids don't have an aesthetically pleasing
Instagram room like they just don't their room is theirs and I I love that for them like they will
hang things on the walls they have stuffed animals everywhere like it's not this it's just not this
like picture perfect room like my like Libby's nursery is pretty cute and I think like eventually
like when I get the kids more settled into their rooms like when Libby is when Libby and
Howdy start sharing maybe we'll do it up but I also just like something about the theme being
childhood I love for me I'm sorry that's just for me so something my mother-in-law always
does when my kids go to her house is when a tongue comes time for a nap she lets them like pick a
pillowcase to put on their pillow and she's got so many fun pillowcases you know that she's either
like made or just found throughout the years most of them are from like my husband's childhood so
they're like Lion King like they're just fun pillowcases and my kids always love that I'm like
that is such a fun thing to do so then a couple of years ago my mother-in-law was cleaning out her
house and she like gave me a lot of Tyler's pillowcases from when he was a kid so then like I had
these pillowcases and I'm like he will not need to get some girl ones and now as I've been like
popping into like a thrift store like a Goodwill like I scan the pillowcases and sometimes I find
like fun character ones like I found a Ninja Turtle one I just found a Monster Jam one I'm
finding these at the thrift store they're also on Amazon but they're just more expensive
and now we've gotten into we change their pillowcases like every week and it's like a big deal on
Sundays it's like bring me your pillowcase who wants new pillowcase or if Fred's ever like
fighting his nap I'm like let's get a new pillowcase and then it's just such a fun it's a it's a
given base model luxury it's such a fun little thing to do to just change up their pillowcase
you want to change their whole bed their bed doesn't match their pillowcase it doesn't matter
yeah well it's just something it's just sometimes it's just something new is what you need to like
get you through to the next step in your evening you know and you don't like giving them new toys
all the time is not obviously the solution but like not even a new pillowcase but a different
pillowcase like oh you want to use this one this week or whatever um I like it yeah or we'll be
like okay we're having a movie night downstairs tonight everyone get your pillow let's put new
pillowcases on like it's also even if your kid does have like an aesthetically pleasing room and
like you have a theme and everything like the actual pillow that they sleep on doesn't even have to be
seen totally have like a you know a proper a proper bed like I'm not hanging on I my kids probably I
probably will decorate their rooms more right now it's like it's just kind of right now three of them
are in one room because they are choosing to first of all everybody and it's just like it doesn't
feel like worth that investment right now but once Hattie wants to share with Libby or once also we
just talked about how much we like hate interior designing and like the stress of it you know who
does do a good job nurturing nook yeah that's just true she does a good job it doesn't charge norman
a leg okay that's true but that's she'll be on a side has a summer that's that's nursery like
specific though yeah really help the art such um anyways so I just I'm saying like just idea maybe
start 13 pillowcases and just mix of a pillowcase like you know it just it can't it makes the kids
feel like they have new bedding so like if your kids have bedding that you love and it's so cute
well what if you just like got had threw an ugly pillowcase on it that they loved so it might
take you to mix it up to get them out of their pillowcase right it might take you further than
you think is all I'm gonna say okay I like it yeah today's episode is brought to you by

did you make any prime day purchases well it's not make any prime day purchases I did also
this was one of the better prime days I think we've had especially for the car seats the car
seat sales were good at this time so hopefully everyone took advantage do you want to know the
car seats I bought sure yeah I just I'm curious to know what you actually pulled the trigger on
well I bought a new evenflow revolve because I didn't have the updated one yeah about that one
I bought the new deono cambria le which is a new booster that arrives July 9th I don't know
I don't know what it is it's a new booster and I bought a pig another pig booster so okay it was
kind of fun love that I didn't really do like super click baby purchases I just was kind of like
what do I actually need and does it happen to be on sale was kind of my vibe this time around so like
good try I bought um I bought some stuff for the baby so I bought like you know I love that
tubby tot all-over ointment I've always I always end up needing to buy that for a kid because it
just like always works well so like that was on sale I got a playpen that was you know $50 off
and I was gonna buy it anyway love got a new hawka was a few dollars off love uh yeah I really just
kind of went for what do I need to buy for the baby and and bought that and isn't on sale kind of
which is like the craziest thing that's so fun I know the only like fun purchase I bought was
I got Merrick linked to those like gold bracelets she's always wearing those beautiful bracelets
and I just like bought those which I feel like we all obsessed with those she wouldn't like she's
that's what I love about America she's passionate about it always
bought a like the Nannett um floor stand oh okay Nannett floor stand it was on sale I've never
done the Nannett I know you I feel like I don't know why maybe like I feel like baby cameras like
came a long way from the time that George was born I agree with you and then by the time you were like
well we just use like a ring camera or whatever you used for George you're like it's why fix what's
not broken why bought it I mean Nannett's are expensive I have them so I just needed a new floor
stand but so we used the Nest like a Nest camera with all of my kids because my cousin told me
that's what she used and I liked it like it worked good and then with Libby I never even
set up a baby monitor really I've never used a baby monitor wow okay that's so interesting
isn't that interesting like isn't that so crazy about me so what you just like kind of like
listen for because I always feel like I need to see like how serious their cry is and I need to see
if they're like laying down or if they're standing up screaming yeah no I never just kind of went
on vibes I always like meant to do it but then I just never got around to it and then it was like
well I don't want to buy in like I lost the Nest camera my Nest camera stopped stopped working
I was like well I don't want to put something on the wall right like we're almost done with this
I get it you know okay no I get it that's so interesting that's just like such confidence
that comes with having four kids I am confident so I'm trying to think what else I
have oh my gosh guess what I made for supper last night well I know what you know I made ribs in
the oven you guys I'm sorry I'm an excellent cook you are an excellent cook and if I put my mind
to it I'm getting really good at cooking proteins which I think is like so home begins with love
with me but also so important because I find if you're going to be a good hostess which I'm first
of all once we get back from this like trip from for the fourth I have I already have dates on the
calendar like your girl's getting back into her hosting era I've been a little lazy with it I'll
be honest like I'm having someone over every week we're just kind of turning this up a little bit
I got all I'm ready but I feel to be a good hostess you've got to master the protein
because it's very easy as to be able to bring sides so you know again I could be like hey I'm
doing ribs tonight you guys want to come over for dinner just bring something to go with the ribs
done and they could bring whatever they wanted to so anyway I did my ribs in the oven sorry
I'm they were amazing unbelievable what was the steps in order to make so I bought ribs the only
hard part is like when you buy ribs you have to like take off the membrane on the back and like
would I like that word maybe it's not called a membrane I don't know I have to like rip this
piece off it's very easy to do but it's just one of those things that like would where I feel like
in the past I've looked it up and like put the recipe back down because I was like there's no
way I can ever figure that out sure but it's very easy to do you take this part off the back that
has the bones on it and then I had this seasoning I seasoned it front and back wrapped them in foil
put them in the oven for three hours at 300 I pulled them out I took them off the foil I put
them in like a big roasting pan and I sauce them with sweet baby rays I'm sorry best barbecue sauce
you won't catch me using anything else I really not to be dramatic I don't care how amazing your
barbecue sauce is I think sweet baby berries is the best barbecue sauce it's really good also such
a fun fact about barbecue sauces is so many of them are made with Worcestershire sauce which
contains anchovies which your girl obviously cannot have so it does limit my barbecue sauces but
sweet baby raises more sauce free of course it's like mainly sugar like of course of course like
there's so much sugar in that yes so then I based it on the SBRs all over it turned on something
called a broil on my oven which is like 550 like just zaps it broiled for five minutes to like let
that all that sugar and the sweet berries caramelize I pulled it out I topped it with more of like the
spicy sweet seasoning I was using just like get a little extra seasoning on it sure sliced them
no I sliced them then I seasoned them the kids were hammering them all of them
we I made three slabs we ate all of them okay I love ribs my kids love ribs ribs are a fun summer
meal you know I challenge you to do it the summer outside tarps off the kids give them a popsicle
after it's a bath night obviously so just like go all the way in so something so that you're
saying our evening so we had the ribs and then they kind of like were done eating but they weren't
done eating so I was like we'll take the ribs outside so then they were eating ribs outside
and something we did when we moved in is we put hot water in the barn on the hose and I we had a
barn shower last night and by a barn shower I mean I physically I made the water warm not a monster
and I hosed off my children in the barn like in like in the wash rack that I went to
they thought it was probably they thought it was so fun we had so I was so apparently doing
all this I was like I'm not taking it's it's really hard to like whatever this seemed easier
and it was fun and easy and then they have their crocs on I stripped them down they have their
crocs on I love this and then they child this is a childhood I mean this is like this is what
it's about and they run back to the house but I was thinking about ribs I actually think
and the thing with ribs is they're not that expensive like they are expensive I think a
slab of ribs is 20 bucks so it was no it's yeah it was about between 18 and 20 bucks for a
slab of ribs so that is expensive because I was like 60 bucks but me not my kids ate my family ate
a lot a lot of them but I was like that could be a fun thing to bring to somebody who had a baby
like what if you just brought them ribs yeah I think I'm gonna bring you ribs when you have your
baby I'll take ribs I mean you're gonna have I wouldn't let anyone else do this but like you're
gonna have to bathe my kids after you give them ribs but that true is that too much well I don't
know there's just that additional air but kids have to I mean bath nights come every night in
the summer I'm sorry like we're taking baths all the time I'm being dramatic um so I think you
could but I think for a family you could give them depending on big the family I was like I
probably would give you two slabs of ribs and you probably would have enough two slabs of ribs
maybe I make you guys a box of mac and cheese and cut you up a watermelon yeah and like I'll make
the ribs I'll slice them I'll sauce them I'll cover them in foil you could pop them in the oven to
warm them up I think that would be like a really good post baby meal it reheats well they do or
they're good cold even for breakfast cold they're good cold too I know wow okay ribs sound fantastic
I know I was like just so excited to like master the uh the oven rip and then I also
made a really big decision speaking of food this is just kind of like one long ditch the drive
through but I talked to my stories this past week about like your post vacation meal like or
reset meal whether it's just like a long weekend or like a long vacation you get home you feel
disgusting you've eaten so much junk you need to feed your family dinner I got a lot of good
suggestions but I ended on I bought canned soup and a rotisserie chicken and some apple slices
and some butter bread just like a simple beige meal but that's light yeah you know I kind of
grilled it on my way through it like we had some like leftover deer sausage I ate that I had a
couple you know I had like a little bit of the rotisserie chicken I didn't really like eat a
full blown bowl of soup but it was so cheap so light nutritious like it's soup it's got some
vegetables in it it's got the chicken we eat some apples you know minimal dishes yeah everyone
loved it I so I think that's gonna be my new like go-to reset meal and I just think it's good to
have that in your back pocket yeah I agree I agree um I also wanted to I know you usually gave like
a really good decision right through but I also wanted to give a shout out and I found this on um
uh wasn't home begins to let me what was the other girl what's her name
okay sorry this Instagram was just I could not remember her name Morgan Taylor at home one of
my favorite follows she just posted like her fast mom lunch and I made it this weekend it was incredible
oh what was it so she told she has like you know prepared protein like so she had some leftover
grilled chicken which leftover grilled chicken I find hard to do anything with um but I had leftover
grilled chicken and the ticket I think for prepared protein for me with steak or chicken
is like I have to cut it up when I put it in the Tupperware container you know like I'm not gonna
cut up the chicken breast like I need the chicken already cut up so okay I like that too cut up chicken
breast cold on top of a southwest salad salad bag and she found like a protein a southwest
protein bag I couldn't find that one um but I just gotta and she also put like black beans in
hers I also didn't do that because I didn't want to open up a can of black beans but I just topped it
chicken with a salad bag and it was delicious that is such a good mom lunch like make grilled
chicken one night always have bags out on hand have a delicious lunch for yourself yeah I actually
have one of those sesame asian bags that and I have chicken not grilled is the problem yeah
so you have to cook it but I'm just gonna make that for supper tonight I guess
I don't know I'm just I'm really enjoying like the summer eats I haven't made anything corn
related I had to make a peach cobbler okay so I'm gonna make something corn related I actually
think I'm gonna bring it to the lake I found a it's from ambitious kitchen it's like a corn
jalapeno cream cheese dip moment oh my this sounds amazing it sounds up my alley to be honest with
you it sounds amazing it's like all the words you just said I love far like some of my favorite words
and then you know what else I've been like you know what I feel like summer cocktailing with
okay I did it one time but it really hit what sorry not to leave you out oh I know I do feel
a little bit left out because you're like my life is so amazing like I'm done having kids like I'm
having cocktails like but it's fine yeah okay well you know let's not forget I have been in your shoes
let's hear about your fabulous cocktail so I went to we went to a birthday party at one of our
friends houses it's like for their six-year-old but like they always just throw like a really good
party you know what they do they just do a driveway party so like they set up
they have a cool garage like he's like a dj so like he's always like playing dj music they have like
lights that change colors to the music they open up their garage they set up tents they bring fans
out they have lawn chairs at the kiddie pool like it's so simple but so great I like that you know
what to expect too with that like you know exactly what you're gonna get don't be afraid to just do
the same setup every single time like people know what to expect you don't always have to reinvent
the wheel no and I've gotten better like now I bring my own chair because it's like you know
sometimes they run out of chairs it's like they shouldn't be expected to provide chairs too
yeah um but I just like I think I wouldn't think to have a driveway party I would just assume people
like need to come into my house but it's like you just don't sure or like you know we'll go in
there use the bathroom like some of the kids will go to the playroom but like the party's outside
yeah okay love it love it anyway she always has a good spread and she made iced tea and she had
iced tea and then she had lemons sugar and then she also had some olivino is olivino everywhere
is it just where we live I don't know it's like fancy olive oil and so she had like a peach olive
oil and she and then she puts it put a thing of vodka out next to it she's like you can make
like a spiked iced tea like it's a spiked iced tea so I got iced tea glug glugged some vodka
a lot of ice lemon a splash of that peach balsamic uh what wait was it balsamic or olive oil
I don't remember I think it was balsamic it's just like a peachy and I only added that one time
and then I said I don't even need that and I was just doing unsweet iced tea with a little vodka
and lemon and it was so refreshing okay don't feel like it doesn't sound good to me well I also
have an eaten sugar so like you know I'm kind of like anything's fun okay but it's better than you
think okay because who doesn't love an iced tea I love iced tea why is that a little vodka to it
okay sure it's like yeah it's just like it's a sipper you know it's interesting my first pregnancy
I really struggled with um like not being able to have alcohol anymore because
obviously like alcohol was a part of my a bigger part of my life before you have kids like sure
I have a wine I always have a cocktail or whatever I'll have a glass of wine
so I I like actually felt that I was like oh wow I can't drink anymore this is kind of weird
don't give a rip about drinking anymore like do not care not worth it to me in a lot of ways
like fully don't miss it at all what I miss now third time around like caffeine yeah being restricted
on my caffeine I feel I feel you it did you feel it yeah that's hard
yeah that's hard it's just interesting how my life has changed like I literally
and I felt not being able to drink alcohol in my first pregnancy and I'm like no I don't even I
don't care at all but I do miss the caffeine I'm sorry you're almost there I know it's it's
it's actually crazy I feel like normally when you search how many days you have until your
due date you're like oh my gosh you still have so long to go and I searched the other day and it
was like 40 days until my due date which is like that's if I make it to the due date like
I'm packing my hospital bag this week no I did agree like 70 feels right I was like I'm at least
60 days out and to hear 40 was jarring I'm telling you I'm like I am packing my hospital
bag this week yeah sounds like you need to it's not a bad idea that doesn't hurt today's episode

thank you Remy for sponsoring this episode well Liz I think we should probably just get
without further ado let's get inside hustle summer everyone meet Shannon by Glow by Shannon
okay we have our first side hustle summer and it is one of like the fair people I've met of
2026 so far and that is Glow by Shannon Shannon hello thank you for joining us thank you for
having me I'm so excited so Shannon has a what I guess a mobile spray tanning business so what
yeah so I'm I met Shannon several weeks ago um my friend had her come over to do spray tan
and I normally just like go in the booth and get a tan which is like expensive and never very good
and my friend was like hey you just want to come over to my house and get spray tan I'm like yes
I have booked you twice since then like I'm like I first of all we all know like life can be solved
all the hardships in life can be solved with like a good spray tan um but having the mobile
spray tan come to my house has really has been such a game changer so we wanted to have you on
the podcast to tell us a little bit more about your business how you got started and if anyone is
listening and might be interested in starting a mobile spray tan business it sounds like it could
be a pretty good idea so will you just tell us a little bit about um how you got started and um
what your day looks like in a in the spray tan world yeah so I have been getting spray tans
since high school really I'm a redhead so I don't tan naturally so I love spray tans um
and it's always something I've been passionate about as silly as that sounds um and one of my
sisters would always like tell me you should do that I'm like I never knew how you know um
and then one day it was one of those weeks where I just needed something to feel better
and so I got a spray tan I had nothing going on that week and I ended up being with my
friends that weekend and we just started talking about it about spray tans and it just spiraled
into me starting a business and one of my friends had a mobile spray tanner come for her wedding
and I didn't even know that was a thing so it finally seemed like oh I can do that like I don't
have to have a brick and mortar you know like that was so overwhelming to me I didn't have
money to start that up so learning that people did this mobile and I was like oh I can do that
literally the next day I bought everything I needed I got an LLC it was very quick and I think
that's why it worked um because I had no time to really think about it um I spray tanned like
six of my friends when I started to practice and then I was like okay I'm ready um and I just went
full in and did it so I do it most evenings um the startup cost really wasn't too bad I think I
probably spent maybe a thousand dollars in the beginning um to get all of the equipment all of
the solutions and different products that I use um and then started charging people from there so
it went pretty quick um but again it's something that I'm so passionate about that it worked
how did you start getting your first couple of clients yeah really word of mouth and social
media um I feel like St. Louis is a very small big city everyone knows everybody um and I would
say now most of the people I spray I don't know um but they know someone who knows
someone that I know um so that's been really great it definitely was slower at in the beginning um
and I think one way is I do a lot of spray tan parties and so like one person knows who I am
they book it for their wedding but then I'm spraying like eight to ten bridesmaids and so
from there everyone knows so many different people um so it's really mostly word of mouth
so you offer so you can either just come to someone's house and spray them or you can also
have a party which is how I found you and how we've booked you in the past um what does the
what do you charge for like a single spray tan and what do you charge for a party yeah so I charge
seventy dollars for a regular spray tan 75 for the rapid spray tan which means you can shower
quicker um it's just a different solution and that costs more um and then for anyone
that books a party with three or more people everyone gets 15 percent off um and that's
because it's worth my time to do people at one um location and it's just an incentive for people
to have more people so if someone wanted to start like this exact side hustle tomorrow
what would be like the first three steps you would recommend for them
yeah I would definitely say buy a machine and a tent and um get your friends and practice and
yeah if it's something you don't enjoy or you think you know it's not gonna work for you it's
always nice to have to do just for yourself and for your friends you know if it it's not that big of
a um cost to just even have for yourself um so I think it's worth purchasing and again if it
doesn't work out you then have a spray tan for you and your friends and you can like you can make
you could make your money back even if you don't charge what you charge yeah like you could make
you could charge 40 to your friends like for the solution and the investment and you could make
it back and then if you're like okay I don't want to do this like again you you still have it and
kind of sounds like something I like a side hustle where it's like something you can pick up and put
down as needed so like you can decide how much you want to book how busy you are I mean you say you
have you do spray tan because this is not your full-time job you have a job correct so you know
you're doing this like every evening I'm sure weekends too like you're sounds like you're
going pretty hard at it but you it would be easy for you to scale back if you felt like you needed
to yeah you make your own schedule which is really nice um and yeah you can do it as much as you
want or as little as you want and you can charge as little as you want or as much as you want yeah
reason was there um how does it feel to see people like just in their most vulnerable state
a lot of the times you're spraying people like in their underwear or naked yeah at first I was
really nervous about that and I think it's helped that when I spray tan in the pad like before I
had my own business I spray tan fully nude yeah and so it made it more comfortable for me I'm like
because I knew that people already did that um and I will say my favorite compliment I ever get
is how comfortable I make people feel yeah um I agree really feel very comfortable yeah thank you
it is very vulnerable and I understand that and I the reason I love spray tanning is
the difference of how people are when they walk into my tent and when they walk out of my tent
first of all that's beautiful hundred that is beautiful and we actually
like we are huge believers in like the importance of a spray tan for your mental health I'm I am being
100% stone cold serious when I say that and we we hired you to do spray tans for all of our team
before the auto show and I think most of those girls hadn't had spray tans since their weddings
like if ever like Liz and I are pretty active spray tanners my team had such peps in their step the
next day like everyone was in such a good mood I kept watching them like check themselves out
like every time we walked by in here like everyone was feeling themselves don't you thank
those I feel unstoppable 100% I mean like I'm literally so pregnant and then I get a spray
tan and I'm like wow I look like good like am I three months pregnant like and I'm I don't know
just everything looks better like everything feels better like yeah I love love getting a spray tan
yeah it was confidence is unmatched and I love being able to like give that to people
because everyone is beautiful even without a spray tan but the way of course it's like
yes you're making your outside more in a way beautiful but like it really is about how you
feel on the inside for sure and it you can't be that no 100% I do want to say like is $70
a lot for a spray tan yeah it is well it's not a lot for a spray it's a lot of money to spend on
that one I like that you set your price and I think that like I like that you know your value
you're taking to account that you're coming to the people and the spray tan was like let's say a
Palm Beach spray tan is like 40 bucks it was $30 better for sure I didn't have to 50 bucks it's
okay 50 bucks I didn't have to leave my house um it lasted longer it and if you're nervous I also
liked that it felt very like customized you know and I think I think we did you did lighter on our
faces which is also really nice because like then you put your makeup on your face so you don't have
to like it was just it was it was really a perfect spray tan thank you no no no notes I'm ready for
come back I know like literally any opportunity I know um so Shannon what has been the biggest
challenge in growing your business and how did you overcome it that's a great question um the biggest
challenge for me is like the marketing side of it I never took a marketing class in college
I never took a business class in college so my degree was in child development it's very different
so I sometimes struggle with like the business and marketing side just because it's so
unknown to me and with working a full-time job I don't have a lot of time yeah yeah I'm either
working during the day or I'm working in the evenings spray tanning I feel like I've done a
decent job at social media and the marketing side of it and I think my product and like the spray
tan speak for itself thankfully um so that's nice and again that word of mouth is really the best
referral but sometimes I struggle with keeping up with the different marketing techniques and
things that I see other people doing and like comparing but I try to just do what I know
well you've been successful you've uh now you've hired another sprayer
yes that's huge huge congratulations she can't she was one of the girls when you you were unavailable
so she came and sprayed me she did a wonderful job um so it sounds like you're you're doing a great
job and this is I believe you would eventually like to take this to your full-time thing correct
yeah I would I would love to yeah what do you do professionally
I work in health insurance um I do case management for a health insurance company
which is great um but I just this is my passion and so yeah no and I love when you love what you
do Shannon my business advice like for social media would be like double down on like be someone
who's passionate about spray tans like I just think don't apologize for that or like say I know
it's not no it doesn't like people will really resonate with that yeah I know I love it love it
I love the passion yeah and it is bigger than I ever thought it would have been until I know
it can go it can keep going um it's hard to take that jump to do it just so low but
well if you're in st. Louis and you want to book a spray tan you can find Shannon on instagram
at glow glo by Shannon yep w I think there's some dots in there oh it is a w yeah is it
w I thought it was just a I thought it was not a w too I don't know where we came up with that

About this episode
Kelly and Lizz return to discuss the joys and chaos of family vacations, debating the merits of lake trips versus beach getaways. Kelly shares her recent triumph of navigating a lake vacation with four kids, reflecting on transitioning from the grueling postpartum years to thriving as a "kid mom." Meanwhile, Lizz opens up about her third pregnancy and the anxiety of starting over with a newborn. The duo also teases an upcoming baby-naming consultation and kicks off the return of their popular "Side Hustle Summer" segment.
Kelly is back from her family vacation and is ready to make a bold statement: lake vacations are better than beach vacations. There is so much stuff you have to lug to the beach! So much easier when you can just throw it on the boat. While watching her kids play, Kelly came to the realization that they survived the baby stage. Is she peeking? Can you peek more than once?
Lizz, on the other hand, is coming to the realization that having three kids is going to rock her world. Baby is due in 40 days and they still don't have a name. BUT the dresser is built, so all is not lost. Plus, she did a full baby haul on Prime Day and is planning to put together her go-bag this week so the prep has started.
But the big news of this episode (besides Kelly's rib success) is that Side-Hustle Summer is BACK! To kick it off Kelly and Lizz are talking to Shannon, who started her own mobile spray tan business. She tells the story of how she started and why she loves running her own business. You can check out Shannon on Instagram @glow.byshannon
