Welcome to snail.
How's it going to everybody. Welcome to Friday's
episode fun segment here on this Snail trail podcast where we like to go over voice mails.
That we get from you guys and interact with you and answer questions and get some feedback on the show and, some fun top that we've been covering and talking about. So...
Yeah. Lots of randomness. You guys always call
in with different points of views, different ways to look at life and it's... Likes
A lot fun. I don't like different point
of views.
Cool.
We didn't have point different point of view this world would be so boring. It would
be super boring. Yep. And I'm glad you
guys can spark the life into our podcast once again. Yep, like every Friday. Every Friday.
So we got a a little bit of a different 1 today. Okay? It's a text
message. Whoa. Yeah. Okay. I think it came
you can do that. Oh, yeah. Right?
It came after a bunch of other voice mails, but it's the only text message. So...
Well, okay. This needs...
It's a picture. Oh,
hold on who the Oh, I think it is ramsay racing.
Okay? Oh, he never gave his number, but
were having an extra conversation. I guess, about
you getting in touch with clay?
Yes. Okay. And I don't know what that's
about. But picture did he send. And a
person taking a picture of an elk?
Okay. Like, really, really close to an elk.
Oh, wow. Like what it it looks like
within 10 feet. Dang. It says listening
2 photos in parks episode, which I think was a a snail male. We kinda gotten
into the deep on it. Definitely. Influencers don't
have shit on Chinese tourists.
Dudes buddy came and asked me, is it vicious?
Yeah. It's a bull elk in the middle
of the re. There's a reason I have
long lens and I have a truck between us. And so I guess the picture he
took of a Chinese dude.
Right up next to a bull elk in the middle of rut.
Oh my gosh.
The person taking the the person in the photo taking the photo of the bull elk.
It has a cell phone. Yep. So he's
getting close to try to get a good photo. Yep.
Oh, my gosh. That's... Yes. If you had
an iphone 15, and I've here you can, like, see the moon with that thing. See
the the Right craters on the moon with that Zooms. See the diff... Friends there is
that guy's probably not making any money, problem off of his photos, so he doesn't have to pay at any money to take that photo. That's true.
Yeah. That's that's just crazy. Why the hell
you approach? That's a... I don't know why
people Have you seen any 234567 pointer? Jesus 6 pointer? Jesus Christ. I don't
know why anybody does approach animals like that.
Have you been seeing the most recent ones about people approaching Bison.
The memes or pictures of are, like, videos of people, like, trying to walk up to the bison. I know that was
a big thing last year because somebody got killed by a bicycle, and I in Yellowstone.
Was it? Yeah. If you do follow the
National Park Service Instagram. That I love that.
It's my favorite. Next to Chuck C. Chuck
C So. Truck C is awesome.
National Park service is amazing. Anybody. If you
want some awesome hilarious outdoor puns in entertainment, National Park Service is amazing.
Yes. Absolutely.
But there's just videos of, like, the Bison, like, charging and running at people and stuff and them that they're, like, trying to hide behind trees or whatever or they get out of the way? Like, why the hell you've
been that close. In unfortunately.
It's stupid. Natural selection? Yes. Yep. Yes.
Absolutely.
But Yeah. Thank you for your message,
Nick, I have gotten in contact with him. Okay.
And we are, I need to write a few emails. Okay.
We might have some good... Ear Interview coming
up. Sweet. Yeah. I'm excited.
Voice mail time. Vms.
This 1 is from Uncle Pool. Oh, nice.
Mister Pool. See what mister Pool gotta say
today? Hey, guys. Kepler.
Hey.
Question. What have know what pot. Is you
guys? For making up. Hi I have anything
about them. Not a fuel mining.
Just curious. Never heard anything think about them.
We're message you guys about But yeah. Can we get a little information?
On let's go all of those any updates.
Alright. Yeah. Have a good 1. Bye.
Next topic.
Nick D luca called in Essence.
Just kidding.
Jimmy and I are lazy. That's ultimately what
it comes down to you. It's
pretty much.
Yeah. The very first time we did him
and we farmed him out. Second time we
did and we farmed them out, and then we both bought lasers and we're were like, we could do this. Yep. And
we never had. We never did. So
Yeah. The first ones we were doing, we're
doing a inch thick, maybe? No. 3 quarter,
half inch half inch. Well, that can be
cut on the laser. We can cut the
half inch of it on the lasers just fine. So... Yeah. It's just a matter of
we need to do them. Yeah. We just
need to, like, we need to arrange time or figure it out or do it ourselves.
Yep. And take care of it. Yep. And
that's that's really about it. Yep.
No excuses on that 1. Sorry, Kevin.
No.
You messaged me the other day about it, and I gave you the same answer. So...
Yeah. Yeah. I saw have the massive box
of gear inch tools, the mechanics tool set.
Thing in my shop in a corner, taken up space. So Yeah.
We'll I have talked to Tyler, off air about, should we just give it to Trevor Clark because he's the obvious winner of who has the most tokens, But Tyler said, no. Let's do this, and we
just haven't got around to doing it. Yeah.
Sorry, Trevor. You gotta work further. Yeah. You
gotta get it more. Somebody's gotta win it.
Proper.
Yeah.
So, yeah, We just I I think, mister Noodle wants to hide them.
Oh, that's good. He's out a lot. Yeah.
It would not be... Well,
I wonder if we could find, like, pre cut half inch wood circle discs.
Like 4 inch I wonder on Amazon. Yes.
Jd.
The The... It's like a laser consignment sort.
Oh, thing that sells all kinds of stuff to get laser, like.
Those little slate disc things like they have that. You know Okay. Yeah. I are they
probably have.
Amazon or ones have probably have Blank coasters. Yeah. That we could probably
etch onto to. Okay. And be easy enough
to just create a jig and then put him in, Yeah. I we'll have to get on that.
I do need to order more slate rounds, the 12 inch ones, because I'm making some 4 ice maps. Yeah, for Sara.
Okay. Do you... Yeah. Did you order those
off of Amazon? Yeah. They're 8 bucks. Dang.
8 dollars per slate round. They turned out
awesome. Okay. So... Yeah. Well, Google
little little wood blank coasters disc would Yeah. Little small wood rounds. Yeah.
Alright. Cool. Let's... I'll order those up when
I order up the slate and then we'll see what we can do. Perfect. Alright. Thank
you, Kevin for pushing us and giving us more work to do. Nick Luca. I was
next time Nicholas.
Oh, was a long 1. 0, Dang it.
Long winded Nick. Here we go always.
Gladiator in 20 nines.
Hey, Jimmy and Tyler. Gladiator on 20 nines.
I'm listening to your most recent podcast chat I thanks today. So...
Till july 11.
And, you guys are talking about Home Depot and not being able to get service in Home Depot because you can't even get access to things and there's no place let you.
I guess say I I didn't wanna call in about a non off road topic, but this has been going on for some time in my area, especially it's the Home Depot and the Walmart.
The Walmart, basically, everything in the store is locked up, and now you can't do self checkout, and they only have 2 checkout.
Checkers.
So the lines are, like, all the way across the store.
Basically, though... Just trying to shop there as
pointless. Like, you go in You have to
wait, you know, 10:15 minutes for each item you need to be unlocked. And then when
you go up to the front, they put everything you needed in little boxes that have to be open. And they only have 2
registers for the whole trip that should take 2, 3 minutes, pay 5 a minute, turns into an hour for some reason.
At so this is really upset lately. But
what I found out is the online ordering is awesome at Home Depot and Walmart. So
if you know exactly what you need you just go online. You pick the items
you need. And within, like, 45 minutes they're
ready for pickup, You pull up outside.
And you notify them on the ass that you're there and they bring it to your car.
Home depot you gotta go inside or have them put it in a locker outside, But, usually, I can order in my house, but I might get there. It's ready
for pickup. And so that's just what I've
had to do. It seems like that's what
industries are transitioning towards because they won't take the loss of theft, which has become an issue. So,
that's my advice do online ordering pick it up yourself look forward to hearing the rest of the podcast. I hope you got do it well.
Catch you on the next trip.
And we'll see it. I love that call.
Do you? Yeah. Oh, because I mean, yeah.
I mean it's I have a nicholas guy's a smart character.
Don't say that out loud. Sorry. He doesn't
no. I love that. It's a great day
idea. I And I always forget about online
ordering at... An in person store. Yeah. I
mean, that's just like, oh, ordered it on Amazon. Yeah.
But, yeah. You can definitely do that. I
know the assistant order is at online at target all the time. Oh, okay. And I'm
thankful for that. Because then she doesn't randomly
walk into the store and buy half the store. Yes. Right. She only gets the few
things that she needs. Yeah. Yeah. There was
a bunch of memes and stuff going around about. You know, for a weekend trip or
getaway or something like that. Take your lady
out, camping. She's gonna love. She's gonna do
all this and this. But most importantly, she's
not gonna end up at target that way.
Yeah Exactly. So
ding.
So... Yeah. That's a that's a great peso
of advice, Nick. I will... I might please
start looking into doing that. Yeah I just
need to remember to do. How many times
has Nick called in? A lot? It's finally
giving us a good piece. Alright.
Yeah. I bring them back down? Yeah. Thank
you. That's a it's a nice I like
back Had in comments.
This 1 is...
Ken from Wyoming.
Oh.
We have a lot of Wyoming listeners. Oh,
we do. There's not a lot going on
in wyoming.
That makes sense. That the only good thing
they have in their life is us podcast.
Sorry, guys.
Alright. Here we go, Ken.
Hey, guys. This is Ken
from Wyoming currently driving my floor runner. You
guys have been talking about kind of the keeping people informed and everybody was Jordan, maybe they called from Vegas I had I fight this all the time at work.
My people are please. They're people please.
And I attribute it to them just determining or trying to figure out what people wanna hear and saying that.
They're trying to please whoever they're talking to, including me, and it is really pervasive, and it's really surprising how people don't learn the idea. Like you said that
people just wanna be informed. They don't want
surprises. In fact, my assistant manager came up
with the this slogan no surprises. So yeah.
People still do it. So I don't know.
Just hearing some I'm mariah here. I wish you guys the
best. Thanks. Yeah. It's a great point. It's...
People just wanna be informed There's an an awesome quote, I... It's a it's a
fuck, what's that writer's name?
Mark Twain. Close.
Wit. No. Is the the outdoor venture writer,
John Mee. Jack
jack Aero act. Jack Kara.
I think that is it. Jack Kara away.
What is the book and movie of My alexander Follows Castle, Endless hall. Alexander Super Champ.
Oh, I went to Alaska?
Stayed in the magic bus died. Died because
he ate the wrong berries. Yep. Yeah. That
1. That moved into the wild. Is that
it? I think there's another 1 with,
what's her face. Yeah. The lady spoon or
something. Mh. Mh. Yeah. So the male version
of it.
There's a a great quote from there that says, more than money, more than fame, more than glory, Give me truth. Yes. I just
want information. I just wanna know what... Going
on. I don't... And, like... And I think
that we get caught up as as human beings. I think we care a little too
much as was having interesting conversation with, the secretary. Go about how
we are such an interesting species because any other animal in the natural kingdom, if their kid or their offspring was going to suck up more resources than they were worth. They would
let that off offspring die. Yeah. Yeah.
And it's true. It's truth and that's how
the natural world works, but then us as a species in the natural world.
We are extremely unique in that we value life more than anything else.
And we will go through great lengths and spend.
Great amount of resources to keep things alive. Yes. And so it's
this... I think that we... As a as
a species care a lot maybe care a little too much that we're afraid that if we tell people the truth that it's just gonna piss them off and they're gonna get mad at us, so it's gonna hurt their feelings or something. When in
reality, it might do that, but the truth in my opinion is always...
A greater value than the temporary harm of being disappointed or something. I don't
like your hair.
Yes you do.
It's gorgeous.
What is? Just accept it. No. I don't
like it. I don't... You're not being truthful
right now, Jimmy.
That's true.
Now if you had said, I don't like the fore runner, I'd be like, get the fuck out of here. Right. Weird that's what
I should've said. Dang.
Ear new. Wrap suck.
I'm out of here. I'm leaving. Crying.
Man. No. It's it's true though. It's a
it's... I think no surprises is a it's
a great rule for life, kinda like no hospital. Yes. So
that, did come out the last week for sure of that Mh rule. Yeah
Mainly for me because idea just do silly stupid stuff. Like, try and jump on a
curb and miss? Yes.
Her moves.
Oh, that's funny.
Alright.
Well, thanks for calling in. Ken. It was
Ken from Wyoming. Correct? Yep. Thanks for calling
in, then giving us some calm router and supporting Tyler.
Yeah. And is truthful.
Truthful, I guess.
Next 1, matt from South Florida. Cool. In the keys.
Oh. See what he's gotta say. Is there
any wheel down there? Not really? There's a
drive around on beaches. Pretty much. That's Ibs.
Hey, Tyler, it's Jimmy. This is Matt South
Florida. I was just calling about episode 05:18.
You guys mentioned The public lands charging for videos and.
I think it's not a terrible idea. To
charge Youtubers a a nominal fee. I don't
know a hundred dollars a year or something to help raise money to take care of the public plans. The problem is the government
just going to use it as a money grab and charge too money. But, you know,
if you're gonna go and make money on the videos here the taking on the public plan. I don't think it's a bad idea
to have a need for that. It just
has to be reasonable.
Anyways, love the joke. You guys doing a good
job buddy.
I'm cutting that off.
Yeah. Thoughts.
Love I agree. Yep. I mean, I don't
like the idea of having to pay. Mh.
But I do agree that there should be a lesser tier because I'm not... Like, if I go out
onto to National parks and shoot a video I should not have to pay what the movies and movie producers are paying. U.
Because if what I make off of my Youtube video Mh. Is drastically
or dramatically, I always get 1 of those confused. Mh less than what a movie is
gonna be making. Yeah.
I'm not making millions of dollars. Yeah. Off
of this. Right?
I've we've been talking about this a lot. We're
gonna get bed on to talk about it in the future. Yep. Of
correlated topic on this is drone flying. Yeah. Used to be able to
get a drone and fly it. And shoot
it in Youtube videos and have it out there all you want. Mh. Right? And it
wasn't an issue. And then what, is it
the Fcc f fa. F faa a came
down on Youtubers. Mh.
Because they weren't following the e flying rules.
Yep. Space rules. Airspace rules, and now youtubers
have... Everybody has to go get a a
license to fly these things. Mh. And then
if you put it the video in your Youtube video, they can come after you and asked to see your license. Oh, wow. Right?
And so they... There's, like, I don't have
I have a drone. I don't use it
because I don't have the license, and so I can't put it into the and if I did use it, I couldn't put the footage into any of my videos. Mh. So
it's sort of, like, I understand that 1.
Mh. And so because I understand that logic,
I've been applying that to.
This rule on national parks. Mh. And it
it does... It makes sense. I just...
I would want to know more behind how the money is put out. Like, Don't
and I don't think... And if you're making
money, I understand that you'd need to pay some money. Mh. But maybe it's Maybe it's
a percentage, but I don't know how they're gonna figure that out. Maybe it's a flat
rate fee. Mh. Even if it's a hundred
bucks, it's probably not worth it for me to now shoot. Videos on those lands. Mh.
Because I probably don't make a hundred dollars off of my Youtube videos. Yeah. For from
those videos. Yeah. So I I don't mind
the idea of kinda creating, like, a permit.
Yeah. So you pay a hundred bucks a
year, 50 bucks a year, something like that.
To have them permit to do it. Yeah.
Because if there's a permit, then that means you have to go through a a testing process typically that you have to undergo and say, Oh, here's the way to responsibly shoot videos and photography and forests.
Because I think the the main...
Issue from the public's perspective of this for from what I've been gathering is that a lot of quote unquote Youtube or social media influencers, whatever, are going into these places and destroying the places. Right. Or causing
quote unquote havoc amongst to the other users of the space.
So if you have it permitted, that would mean they would have to go through some sort of, education standard for doing it. Right. Which I think that
is the important part. Making sure they're educated
know how to do responsibly, and the money for it as long as it's something minuscule, and it's not a money grab.
I'm okay with that concept.
I... But I don't like the idea of
having to do it permit per video or fee per video per content, because that just sounds to me like a money grab. Right. And it sounds un feasible
annual fee. An annual
subscription permit license whatever to go and do it.
I think that would be good because then you can control the education of it. Yeah.
And I would almost guarantee that they would make more money at admit saying, hey, to get this... To get the permit to
shoot videos in national parks, you have to take this test, and then the permit cost 50 bucks. Mh. And then you're allowed to
shoot for the year in national parks. Yeah.
They would make more money doing that. That
1 coming after Youtubers. Yeah. After sort of
after the fact. Yeah. Right? Because I think
more people... More Instagram or Youtubers or people
in the photo industry. Mh. Would be, like,
yeah. 50 bucks. Okay. Here you go. Yeah.
Let me be free. Yep. I think that
would be a really good way to do it.
I would... I was initially very, very much
against this whole thing, and I think I I like this attempt solution option.
Because My my main worry with everything, especially when it comes to governmental regulations is, how can it be misused?
Because that's a lot of the problems we're having right now with wilderness areas with creating new...
Wilderness areas, it's being misused by government agencies right now to for ul motives and agendas rather than this is a beautiful area. Let's let's make
it a wilderness area kind of thing.
So I'm I'm not 1 for preservation.
I don't think it's... I don't, hey, I
don't think we should be trying to preserve things, and I don't think it's feasible to preserve things.
I think that evolution is always gonna happen.
I think that things are always going to change.
And the way that you mitigate damage is to have things change sustainably.
And so I think that trying to preserve something, like, everybody who argues that the the Rub trail needs to stay the same and should never be altered.
Okay.
I'm like, I don't... Hey, it's not feasible.
It's always every... Something's gonna alter it. Nature's is gonna
alter people are gonna alter. Something's gonna happen.
The trick is how do we make that sustainable alterations.
And I think again, people care a little bit too much about their experience they had that 1 time on the trail. They wanted
to always be like that. Sure.
And I think the same concept gets applied to wilderness areas where people are like, no. We need to
preserve it and the the same issue that we're having with our fourth right now. We
tried to preserve the forests, and now we're having these massive wildfires because the whole forests are not right running health, health health...
Healthy, forests, I guess. They're too dense too
impacted, Yeah. But isn't that the way they would
be if we weren't around? No. Because forest
fires would be able to run normally, thus clearing out their their vegetation and and fuels and everything? We would have more
we'd have small... More often smaller forest fires.
Yep. Because they would
forest fires would be happening. But since we've
limited what can be done in the forest.
They've overgrown and now the forest fires can run rapid it because there's vegetation everywhere. Yep. And we put a lot
of effort into stopping forest fires as much as possible right away in the past, and now we're starting to learn, oh, we can let forest fires burn a little bit, as long as they don't get out of control.
Sure. And it's healthy for the the
ecosystem in that area to do. Air. There
are some seeds that need the fire to Germany. Mh. So, yeah. I I agree with
you and disagree with you I do think that there is some level of sustainability within nature that needs to happen, like, yellow or yosemite. Mh. Like, you know, we can't let,
you know, do people create, rock climbing.
Mh. Trails
everywhere they want. You know, they can't... They
shouldn't, in a way, maybe be able to go off, randomly off trail off track to go climb any random rock pile out there that they want. Mh. You know, and I'm
just using that as an example because it's an extreme example, it's good It's a neutral ground. Yeah. I like truth. Yeah. It's not...
Off road and it's not straight up nature.
Yeah. It's a neutral ground in our area.
I'm sure there's a rock climber out there that's yelling at me.
But, you know, it's you know, we... You can't let everything,
you know, anything happen. You know, You can't
because then it'll get decimated. Mh.
And you can't complete hold back.
What Say it has to say perfectly the same. Mh. You know, and we can't let
rocks fall, and we have to hold up the wall because that's the way the wall always been, Mh. You know, or whatever because
nature happens. Yeah. You know, But
talking, I don't, I'm gonna bring this up, and then I'm just gonna let it go because I don't... We're gonna talk about this in
the future with Yeah. With blue ribbon coalition.
But, soup bowl, for example. Yeah. Right? There
used to be vegetation on top of soup bowl. Yep. Right? So many people have driven
that not part of the trail. Mh.
Myself and you included that now all the vegetation is gone. Yeah. Is that a good
thing? Is that a bad thing? Yeah. Know.
Now it's a fun obstacle, Mh. Not technically
part of the trail? Mh.
But before there used to be vegetation, used to not be able to do that obstacle, go up that line that direction because there was vegetation up there. Yeah. So
I don't know. Is that, you know, where
where does the line get drawn and how do you draw that line? I don't have
an answer for? Yeah. And that's that's the
tricky part of it. Right? Where does
because that... In terms of preservation,
the the pre would say, you know, we're not allowed to go there. We're not allowed
to be in that area anymore. Absolutely.
Whereas, I think a balanced maintain sustainable option, would be, let's find a way that people can still recreate and get their fill, while still maintaining the overall balanced of the ecosystem in that area. Yeah. So a vegetation
on 1 rock ledge probably doesn't impact the ecosystem that much in that area, but, like, in an area in Moa where you have crypto antibiotic soil that is that you need in order to have vegetation there and if that gets destroyed then no vegetation anywhere. Mh.
That could damage the ecosystem in that area. So I
I don't know. Depends on the density of
the ecosystem and what's going on.
How do you keep people on trail?
I think I think map. I mean, brit...
I... There's a yeah. And now there's, you
know, on top of soup, there's dropped trees.
That are outlining where you're allowed to be you're not allowed to be because they are trying to prevent people from driving even further off trail.
Yep. So there... I mean, there's definitely ways
to. We got our obstacle. We got our
obstacle. But, you need to we need keep
it within reason. We can't be going away
off over there too. Exactly. Yeah. Okay.
Oh, fun topics. Yeah. It's
of a 1. Yeah. I do like the
idea of a flat fee though. I kinda agree
kind of... As long as it's not, like,
thousands dollars. Yeah. Right. Mh. And maybe it's...
You know, I don't know. Maybe it does
come down to how many videos do you plan on making or something like that. I
know, there's there's options out there. I don't have... I
think that a low cost, lower barrier of entry for people that aren't having a bunch of people Mh. On a
movie set.
Yeah. Is not a bad idea. Yep. I
agree. And I... Yeah. Cool. Alright.
Understand.
1 more because we're already at, like, half an hour. Oh, jeez. Well, this one's a
long 1. That's a 2 part.
Nick from Montana. Oh,
So Again, From our text message. Is it same
to? Yep. Yep. It is.
So, Nick from Montana, we've got long voice mails.
So we'll do these and that'll be it for today. Okay.
So, guys, Nick from Montana. Actually made a
list this time, so maybe you... I'll get
to it all in 1 message.
Heat waves are coming up here in Montana, it's found 95 degrees. I So we're essentially
bursting the flame. And
laugh at us, I wanna remind you that a hundred and 35 degrees warmer than it wasn't sucked. Or
in the middle of winter.
So that's negative 4 wow trail access are huge thing that I believe in myself, kinda like Jimmy, I'm also, like, a big hike creator, climber, all that kind of stuff.
And it's tough being in 2 opposing groups. Like,
out here, we seem to do fairly okay, But I think it's just because we have, like, maybe over a million people in the state, we're able to share trails a little bit more reasonably.
Though as more Californian are coming in. We're
ruining the state.
So we just need to keep in mind that everybody wants to recreate in the best way that they can.
And sometimes it is obnoxious to hear a stroke 300 you know, rip through the mountains where you're on a, nice happy hike.
So always remember that you're an ambassador of your For regardless of what it is. And having those
positive reactions or interactions with people is gonna go way further then, like, being a dick and trying to throw somebody off a cliff, which has happened.
Not how tried to happen to me.
What, ice talks tossing... I'm here to tell you
that technical ice climbing of, very difficult to get to stick. It does
happen. I've spent many hours trying to do
that, sitting down there at be delay. Waiting
for somebody to finish a climb responsibly, of course, and not trying to kill anybody with a H.
The like, walking access, they stick pretty good, but you gotta have the right ice conditions.
Happy to consult on the the ice axe throwing business Tyler.
And before I get cut off last 1, mo story, he is the big hug happy guy he and I are about the same size.
We're at a campground.
And, in the middle of the night, somebody's, like, we hear a domestic violent kinda, like, argument happening and then you hear punches landing and both he and I, like, ran up to go, I guess murder somebody people looking can't crowd.
Yeah, we get out there, and it's the the girl hitting the guy.
And we're both kinda like, oh, okay. That's fine.
I, yeah, means you're not pounding on it.
Oh, I got cut off. Yeah Cut off
there. That's funny.
Let's finish it not how I expected that.
I saw that ending debbie. Yeah. You're good
ahead. Nick I got cut off,
too many stories.
So He and I, 2 gorillas come running out from our campsite.
We're ready to, you know, do some own, fix some domestic violence situation, probably in the worst way possible.
He was hitting in the guy, we're both kinda like, oh, okay. Well, that's
fine.
But the sheer terror on the dude's space went 2 6 foot 4 go running and out like they wanna hurt him, who was pretty hilarious.
Anyway, Nikita was able to help them resolve their issue, and I was upset that I didn't get to fight somebody.
And what was my last note, oh, Rub dog, somebody we keep talking about the how to put a dog in a truck Alex Fl over in Reno has come up with a solution. He's essentially made,
like, a Yeti cooler with an open top kind of design as a platform for your dog to sit in and harness. So, like, it 1 it keeps
the dog contained in the truck. And it also allows you
to harness it in.
And because it's all plastic. You don't have, like,
nasty wet lab goo all over the back seat. It it stays
fairly contained into that area. So give him
a check, you know, checking out, Out Alex and his company is Rub dog.
I think that's it have fun keep crawling.
I just got brakes on the axles for my Toyota or we're getting we're getting closer. There's just, you know, 12000
dollars more of tube and shocked to buy.
Alright. Love, Freddie.
Oh, do I know Jason g probably. I'm moose. They probably... Everybody in the
Bay area probably knows mu.
So what's up Jason.
Too funny. Connecting dots here. Yeah. Here. I
out a fun Mo story for you before we close out. Mh. 1 of the first
times I met Mah.
U. He was the door person at a
party.
So it was, like, the... There was a
party going on on the inside. And he
was, like the bounce. Okay. Right. It was
a 2 piece party.
You're only allowed to wear 2 articles of clothing.
Okay. And he checked thoroughly.
Oh, really everybody.
Absolutely.
That's. So Yeah. You add... You only allowed
2 pieces of clothing to get in, and that's... So, like, 1 sock on each foot
would be 2 pieces or 2 pieces.
U. So I mean you showed up with
that. He probably got. Not checking you out
very much.
That's fine. Yeah. I think I just, you
know, like, I wore a t shirt in shorts, you know, or something like that. I
choose were allowed, obviously, But yeah. And then... But he would pull your
pants out and make sure you're not wearing any Tony's underneath. But, yeah. That's funny. And
he's so big. You don't question it. You
question you just go with it. Okay.
Yep. No. No wendy's
can go in now? Yeah.
Again. Oh, yeah. That that was were fun.
Nice. Fun days.
Well, cool. Thanks, Moose for calling in.
Nick Moose.
Moose Nick. Moose Ramsay, Moose Ramsay.
Moose Ramsay Nick.
From Montana? Yeah. Something like that.
The Montana moose? Yep. Alright. There appreciate the
the phone call there, buddy. Mh.
I was very confused when he started talking about ice.
Yeah. I forgot about last conversation that I
clicked after a while. Axe the throwing. Yeah
that ice sa throwing yeah for sure.
So... Yeah. Cool. I... And I agree. At
the the access, and, you know, how do you how do you how do we get everybody to play together?
Is just understand that if 1 form of recreation can shut down another form of recreation, then what's to say that anybody...
They can't shut us down. We can't shut
them down. Right? If everybody's on a fair
level playing field, and you just say recreation is recreation, then, and we just find a way to all work together on it, that's that's really what it has to come down to? Because otherwise, yeah, What's to say
snowmobile can't shut down snow wheelers. Yeah.
So... I don't know if vice versa. I
think there's there's many lines to be drawn there, but, you know, it... The question is
how you... How do we not cross the
lines? Yeah.
You know, what if what is recreation?
What what would be considered recreation? Yeah. Whereas,
you know, if, like, is disc golf recreation. Yeah. So is disc
golf gonna... Course gonna be allowed out on
the Rub con. Like, that would be fun
to have 1 in the bowl. Are you
kidding me? I mean, it was... I'm not
completely opposed to it, but then we have disc golfers walking down the Rub con trail when, you have off road trying to drive it, you know? And then who wants getting
mattered to the that about the other because they're out there. You know? So I don't
don't know how to draw that line. Yeah.
That's spend and that's my final words of this entire snail mail.

About this episode
A lively “snail mail” roundup tackles listener calls and texts, from a close-encounter bull elk photo and the absurdity of people approaching wildlife, to debates about locked-down big-box stores and the convenience of online pickup. The biggest discussion centers on public-land access: whether creators should pay reasonable fees/permits, how to prevent money grabs, and how to balance recreation with sustainable land management. Other segments include laser-cutting/wood-disc logistics, trail etiquette as an “ambassador,” and a quirky dog-in-a-truck “rub dog” cooler idea.
