morning drive this morning as we kick off another summer week together what a
great and amazing weekend sort of kind of maybe yeah the water was if if you
were tuning in I'm just gonna say right now the water was extremely cold I mean
extremely cold I had mentioned that my body may form a giant goose pimple it's
true we'll talk about that a little bit later on that was our first fundraising
event for 2000 summer 2026 it had its challenges because the weather was kind
of kooky and yeah but it was a good time was had by all food was good and the
music was fantastic local band it was a great day it all in all sense
and purposes the weather was very very iffy but the sun kept shining but the
wind gusts they were a challenge let's just leave it at that so good morning if
you're just in the queue to get through the drive through get your morning
beverage all ready so that we can have our morning swiggy together so I'll buy
you about 45 seconds be sure to lock it down double check flip double check your
order it is a Monday I'm just saying from all my ears on the road Monday
mornings order could be different it we'll have a daily
weather coming up in just a few moments as well so get your morning beverage

first yeah because it has something to do with cortisol makes you get a really
fat butt or a spare tire not on your car either you know what I'm saying so yeah

you know an hour after you wake up no coffee and then you can have your coffee
that gives this cortisol thing a chance to do whatever it's supposed to be doing
and not doing what it shouldn't be doing and there's a big explanation there you
go I'm not saying that anymore so my herbals are ready with local honey in
there and it's really yummy it's absolutely yummy so let's dive in this
morning summer is officially here and the reason I can say that is we've
officially parked our very first fundraiser with car connection we had
the FJ Cruiser there gonna celebrate it's 20 years on the road yeah 20 years
this July coming up and I think which we should have a cupcake or something with
a candle in it so I only have that series is wrapping up very quickly got a
couple of small things aesthetic things to take care of the right rear axle seal
was leaking and I found the issue and I'm not gonna you're gonna have to watch
the YouTube channel to get a really huge huge automotive tech tip on that a
little tiny thing will cause if you have a truck mostly I'm gonna say if you have
a rear-wheel-drive vehicle there's a little tiny thing that you need to know
about and to make sure that it is always working because when it doesn't
that's when poopoo happens so I'm gonna share that with with the the

today's temperature range from 55 to 83 degrees feeling more like 54 to 86 so

whatever vehicle you're looking for if they don't have it you want to get Earl
Louise on it right away Earl's a car guy and he's fussy or then fussy I'm
fussy and he's like 10 times fussy than I am and they have the resources to find
that specific vehicle for you if it's out there and it's any good Earl will get
it for you but if it's not they're gonna tell you waited out because there's
nothing decent in that particular making model but they do carry a large
inventory of pre-owned and that's how they've made their way as greater
Toronto area's pre-owned premier pre-owned auto store so we're blessed to
have them folks because you're not gonna buy any junk there you're not gonna end
up with somebody else's problem child Earl picks them really really good and
they have excellent resources so we're it's great to have them on board with us
they've been with us well seven years now and you know what that has always it's
great to have them because when you need an automobile don't you want to go and
get one from somebody you know you can trust that selling you something really
really good instead of well it'll get you where you want to go it's not much to
look at no thanks thanks but no thanks yeah let's move into our morning program
right away so that we can get everything on the table for you thank you to all

to be complicated don't make it complicated in your mind we got to get
you in a different mindset it's a piece of equipment view it as a piece of
equipment that is necessary where we live because not everything is a hands
reach away and some people are driving an hour one way to get to work so it's a
piece of equipment to get you where you need to go and back home again so instead
of viewing it as a car and it's a pain in the butt and I agree they can be like
I brought the FJ in for spring evaluation and it's just gone out the door it took
it to the show the fundraising event in Stevensville and you if you want to see
a video of yours truly going in the dunk tank I stopped counting I gotta say
these kids they really wanted to put me in the dunk tank and the parents were
willing to buy the tickets to do it they're like yeah dunk dunk the guy take
him out the water was about 38 degrees and I kid you not the firefighters filled
it Saturday morning of course because there's nobody there to monitor it you
can't fill it the night before because who's gonna sit up all night and watch
the dunk tank warm up probably nobody so when it's right close to a playground
and you know water attracts kids so hey liability I get it but man I'll tell you
that water was cold these kids they got arms on a man this one kid near the end
that was when I my spotter said you can't go back in there you're shivering
your body temperature is lowering that's how many times I got in this one
little skinny kid pulls up his mother's there and the parents are watching
cuz you know why they really want to throw the ball but they don't think they
can throw but we have one grandma who did she was good at it but she just
couldn't hit the paddle hard enough but I thought wow granny got in there to show
the grandkids how to do it well this little kid steps right up three balls
three times in in a roll he made it look like a cake block it was like thing I
just get this back on the seat thing and I go and then the last 13 balls
three hits three dunks and this mother goes I'm sorry he plays baseball I'm
still warming up from that yeah it was it was all for charity that's right all
for charity met one a couple of my neighbors come by and go oh what are you
doing today what are you doing here I go I'm in there oh how did that happen so

this morning summer's officially here and I can call it because we got our
first fundraiser out of the way with others lining up right now and we have
new videos coming up in the in the the studio today and more new videos going
up this week two for Tuesday and one every single Friday so you get three

any automotive tips whatsoever I got five things for you again today and it's as
a pattern rotate the pattern this will keep you out of hot water and keep you
in cold water 38 degrees if people are going how cold is the water I go
come around the side here and stick your hand in oh my gosh that's not water
that's almost ice yeah you want to take a seat no no but I'll tell you the kids
were great at it and they really enjoyed themselves the mums and dads would buy
the tickets the kids would step up and give it everything they got this one
little kid was known no more than knee-high to a bullwebel and man he
could crank that ball he got me in well done you summer recap today that's
number one bit of a summer recap to get your mindset in order because many of
you are not doing any circle checks or pre-trip inspections of your automobile
you're flying by the seat of your pants and I would not recommend that to anyone
because you can you can get yourself into some big problems and that's
exactly amusing the the FJ as an example that was in the shop for four weeks
because every time I turn around I found something else that was potentially
gonna be an issue I'm going let's it's in here let's deal with it and there were
a couple things that needed to be fastened up underneath you know it is 20
years old a couple of brackets that are no longer with us holding stuff up so I
created brackets and fixed it and made it tight and right and checking my trailer
wiring making sure that everything is okay because I've got some loads and some
responsibilities I've got to take care of with the trailer and some promises to
take care of stuff and you got to do that you got to keep your promises right
absolutely say what you do and do what you say that's that's the way it's got
to work so it's just been out for the first time in 44 or five weeks
like I said I've got an axle seal that's slaughtered the right rear set of breaks
covered in an oil so I I didn't get time to do that before the the event on the
weekend but I wanted the FJ to be there and so it'll come back in but I do
believe I found the issue but I still have to clean off all that that oil I
got to clean those brakes off thoroughly and they're like brand new still so did a
service on the left side of the rear brake at the back and everything's in top
drawer condition there everything's working super duper and I got to say
this I now have full brakes I can stop on a dime and get changed so if you're
wondering what that means you'll have to go into our YouTube channel and take a
look at the videos and you'll find out what's been going on for the last couple
of years I finally I figured it out after being told well that's the that's
the part style and you know that's as good as it's gonna get and I'm like I had
better break was breaking with the old stuff than the new stuff where's the
problem well I found the problem and now it's definitely I'm excited because it
stops really really good so I'm very happy about that because I use the
trailer for hauling firewood and I've got lots of hardwood waiting for me that
we split pops and I the last couple of weeks went out and split what we cut
back in the fall so lots of stuff going on so summer the summer recap is number
one number two book your vehicle early don't leave it till last minute you know
you should know where when you're gonna be road tripping in advance if you're
getting away when those dates are because you probably would want to let your boss
know that too right unless you're retired yeah so book in early and the
reason I say that is I'm looking at the long-range forecast we're gonna get into
the 80s and then there's gonna be AC a plethora of air conditioning issues I
guarantee you that a hundred percent before I forget we got another series
coming up today something I didn't know was going to present itself but it has
and it's something that every single one of you need to know this is a need to
know thing you have a vehicle that has a cabin air filter this is kind of the
this is the example that I was hoping that would arrive to show you this will
make you very sick very very sick so I'm gonna share that with you today we're
gonna shoot the video so get ready this is huge and it is health risk
important and it has everything to do with your automobile so you're gonna
want to stick around for that I'm going to put up a YouTube short tomorrow to
prime the pump on this one because this is dangerous and this is health risk and
this is what I've been saying happens and now we have a living example of what
I've been warning you about and it's this time of year when things really need to
be maintained and this is a great example I mean it's a great example it's
more work for me but it's a great example and I'm gonna share that with you so
book your vehicle in early so that every single thing that is of a is a concern
that the tech should have written down for you to say here's here's what we've
got going on right now and here's what you need in the near future and distant
future so you can plan for all that so you're not you don't suffer trip
interrupt this that's what you don't want trust me because when it's happening
it's not funny because you could be out and you're out of town you're in a small
town you're in a very rural area and no one knows your car you don't know the
tax and the shops are closed because it's it's a vacation time it gets ugly
fast I'm painting a really good picture for you because these are things that
customers went through when I had the shop on the Hamilton Mountain their trip
they lost couples lost their whole vacation because the car was badly
broken or they've lost four or five days being without a car in a small town
having to hotel it until the cars fixed then get on your merry way and you've
already paid for you know where you're going to renting a cottage or whatever
it just it gets you upside down and sideways so book in early because when
you call and they say and I've had to do it I'm telling you from the phone call
all the phone calls I've taken over the years at the shop and working for others
when you tell them I can't get you in for a week what do you mean you can't get me
in for a week well we can only we only have so many tax we only have so many
service bays and we can only fix so many cars we're busy you know it's not that
we don't want your business but if I if I take your car and I say I can do it and
I know I can't that's not right you know it's it's do what you say say what you
do kind of thing so when I say I can't get you in for a week well you know we're
going away next week that's cutting it a little too late little a
little too late so now what are you gonna do you're gonna end up probably
phoning around to see you can get in and here's what I'm gonna tell you if they
pick up the phone on the first ring and they're a shop they're not busy question
why why are they not busy hmm just something to ponder that is a point to
ponder number three the car seems to be okay honey I don't think it needs to go
on the shop yes it does because that's when stuff happens that
brings us to number four folks just like our FJ it was the last one in for the
spring evaluation it's just going out the door because I can't work on it full
time there's just so much scheduling to take care of when you're running you a
full-blown hardcore YouTube channel and the podcast and prepping stuff ahead of
time and yeah it's there's just so many moving picked pieces that I can't just
plant myself on that rig all day all night can't do it I'm up at 4 a.m. six
days a week on the seventh day I get up at six just so you know that's my
schedule and I'm not looking for sympathy by any means but I'm busy and I
can't stay on it full time so it just left five weeks pretty close to five
weeks and it still has a couple of small things to do so stuff just happens so
even when yeah I was running that down the road since October and everything
seemed to feel alright but it wasn't and you'll have to watch this the the series
on our YouTube channel all the things I got into but it felt like it was pretty
much okay other than the brakes sucked for the last couple of years and now we
got full brakes back and it's like yippee-ki-yay it's more like this yeah I
can actually get the rig stopped so don't fall into that false sense of
security that the car seems to be okay because number four is stuff just
happens and I almost guarantee you if I'm inspecting your car I'll find stuff I
hear cars go past the the shop studio here all the time and they got stuff
going on because I can hear it you know squeals bangs rattles thunks scrapes
screeching and you know they go by and I'm like you can't hear that like what
you can't you can't feel that yeah so I know if you gave me if I went into the
Walmart parking lot which I I don't attend Walmart very much I think I went in
once so far this year I'm not a Walmart fan I send somebody else
what are you going to Walmart oh can you pick this up for me well why don't you
get that random and I'll guarantee you if we brought them all to the shop I'm
gonna find problems with every single one so the car seems to
be okay honey I don't think we need to spend any money I don't think it needs
to go to the shop number four stuff just happens and it's gonna happen when
while you're on the road for sure and interrupt your wonderful vacation you've
worked all year for and number five is this is where you've got to plan the
attack and attack the plan period if you don't want the opportunity to have
trip interrupt us and lose days of your vacation maybe even a week maybe the
whole thing becomes a wash it can happen and it often does and I don't want it to
happen to you because we all work hard and for that little bit of time off
myself the same I haven't this will be like my vacation number six or five I
think I think it's six I went 39 years without a vacation 39 and it was Larry
T troll my brother from another mother one of our certified financial planners
he said now you can't do that anymore you got to promise me you'll take some
white space throughout the year you've got you got to have some white space so
I'm working with AI right now to develop a proper schedule to fit
everything in there including going fishing with my 89 year old pops who
has his own boat and he's scared to death of it and it's a beautiful little
run around and even AI said you need to take him fishing you got to build those
memories that's important so these are the things that go on in my world so
having a plan to plan you got to plan the attack and attack the plan when it
comes to any kind of piece of machinery and especially the automobile none of us
can deal without it trust me I've seen it the the emotional stress that comes out
when the car is down and you don't have another one you don't have a spare this
is it you got to keep that sucker going so mileage doesn't matter maintenance
matters keep the maintenance up and then you'll live with peace of mind and
mental freedom being in the unknown is what will drive you crazy when you have
an automobile because they're not maintenance free and I've said that a
kajillion bazillion kajillion times and that just means a lot and it's true it
will they'll sneak up on you and then there's this thing and then there's that
thing and there's this little thing and getting rid of it just because of those
things doesn't you're buying another piece of machinery that still needs the
same it needs maintenance you're not getting anything out there that's
maintenance free after the warranties up it's all you if you're in that position
where you've got a wheelbarrow full of cash left at your front door every
morning and you don't have to think about that you can just go get a new one
and when the warranties up go get a new one when the warranties up go get a new
one well God bless you but that's not everybody so getting caught off guard
just what I'm gonna leave you with this morning getting caught off guard will
get you every time so if you think the car seems to be okay I can tell you this
it's probably not it is probably not okay there's things going on that just
haven't given you enough indicators that a big whoop-de-doo is coming and it's
gonna cost you so don't let this vehicle this piece of machinery beat you it's
just a car that's what my military boss would say it can't win it's just a car
motormouth you got that I go yeah you go so you have to beat this and he was a
great teacher I'll tell you what he was a great teacher he made you think and not
just pull over and park your little your little gray man in your head but to
actually think think your way ahead live in the future not in the present that's
how I live it drives me crazy sometimes but that's how I work I'm always thinking
about machinery and equipment and what could possibly go wrong and head it off
at the past before it happens and lately been hitting it out of the park
pretty good the FJ kind of threw me off a little bit but we're on it now we're on
it and I've discovered some areas that need more maintenance not less so that
means they those things that I've discovered need to be taken care of in
between the what I do is the main it's fall maintenance spring maintenance fall
maintenance spring maintenance full evaluation I got to do some little things
in between to prevent where we've gotten to so you'll have to watch the video on
that how did the axle oil seal actually come to the leak and now I've stopped it

going to say not once not twice but three times so I'm speaking from
experience and I know there's a lot of people hurting out there I see it at the

high with the second one coming up I don't see it but I hear the conversations
and there's many of you out there hurting in earshot right now connect
connect with them and get your questions answered don't give up get that hour
and a coffee discovery meeting they're not going to sell you anything that's

help let's get you a set of ears and eyes that know what to do and they'll
figure out a game plan tailored for your specific situation so don't go walking
away because everybody else says that you need to get a professional

Summer is officially here. After surviving a freezing cold dunk tank at our first fundraiser of 2026, it got me thinking about something many drivers overlook every year.
Before you load up the family, hitch up the trailer, or point the vehicle toward vacation, here are five things to ponder.
✅ Do a quick summer vehicle reality check
✅ Book service appointments early. waiting until a week before vacation often means your schedule and your repair shop's schedule won't line up.
✅Don't assume everything is fine just because the vehicle "seems ok".
✅ Stuff happens. My own FJ Cruiser spent five weeks in the shop recently. It drove fine, but we found several issues that needed attention before they became bigger problems.
✅Plan the attack and attack the plan. Getting caught off guard can cost you days of precious vacation time and a whole lot of frustration.
A little preparation today can save a whole lot of aggravation tomorrow.
