Talk Cars Radio and w KQA Freedom Radio. I'm your host, Big Davipe
hanging out with Camera Chaos at eight BB. It's a great day to be
on a radio show, hanging out with us. Hopefully the weather is going
to hold out for everybody across America. I know, I keep on telling
everybody it's a great day for a car show, and people send me a message so they're like, not here here, it's it's all going on.
They're like it's raining here. So hopefully where you're at is a great day
for a car show, guys, has been an interesting week, to say the least, to many different ways for me. So had two different type
of interactions this week with two different vehicles in the fleet that I took in.
I'm going to share them with you guys, and it kind of goes hand in hand. I tell you guys all the time about taking your car
in for service and making sure that you guys keep up with service and then making sure that you have an auto garage that you like doing work with.
So all this kind of is going to go hand in hand as I take you guys through this, so I want to share it with you. And
the reason why is because even though I'm a car guy I've told you guys this before, I have weird interactions too, And there's certain things that I expect when I take my car in, and there's certain things when you take your car in that you just you should expect, and I just I don't know. I'm gonna tell you good the stories and you guys tell me maybe
how you guys would have handled it or what you guys would have expect it.
So we're gonna kind of dive into that. I got some other kind
of interesting stories today for you guys as well a couple of different things that we're gonna jump into. So on top of that, man, I found
myself in the emergency room this week and I'm gonna have to have some surgery.
And that's been some craziness. So it's just been all around, just
really weird week. Just out of the blue, I just felt a weird
pain, and you know, I just it went away and then in the middle of the night it came right back, even ten times stronger than it did the first time. And I don't like hospitals at all, like completely
cannot stand hospitals, and but I gave in and I went into the hospital and yeah, now I'm gonna get to meet some surgery. So yeah,
I've been just really really weird week this week, but we're gonna dive into it. We're gonna get through this show. Um, good medications keeping me.
Uh, I won't say pain free, but somewhat a little bit enough pain that we can muster through this show. If you guys need Corporates number
like he might have needed this week, call into the show at seven two two two three seven zero five. We'll be here for your comments. So
if you guys wonder why I'm just a little druggy just a little bits because I got myself medicated so we can do the show. And uh, because
you guys know I don't. I hate missing shows, and so uh,
it took some medication and uh, we're gonna, yeah, we're gonna, We're gonna get through it. But I can I can feel the drag,
you know, you can feel in your head just a little bit. So
yeah, anyway, so let me start off with the first story. And
they haven't heard it yet either, so they don't even know what I'm gonna say. And I did that purposely because I wanted them to hear it first.
Then that way I got the first reaction through them to figure out how to handle it or what to do. Yeah, so here is uh what
happened. So we had the um the camera and it was time for the
camera to have its oil change, and it needed a tire rotation. And
I think I told you guys a little while back, so I originally had the tires balance and I think I mentioned to you guys that I didn't think that the tires were balanced correctly, you remember, And I even took it for a test drive one one of the vehicles, and I was like, hey, I think you might be having an sue with one of these tires.
Yeah yeah, so not one of the vehicles. The camera well yeah
the camera yeah. So um and I don't know no yeah, so I
uh, I was like, Okay, I knew it needed to go in for service. So uh that car still has some covered repairs on it through
the warranty and stuff like that. So you take it in and the oil
change and stuff was covered and blah blah blah. So need to go back
to the dealership. So I yeah, so I decided I wanted to go
ahead and get it into them. It just right around a certain speed,
it has a vibration to it, and you don't really feel it. Guys,
if you're just driving here, like if you're driving fifty five miles an hour, say sixty miles an hour around here. But if you get up
and you'll start to head out of town here and you get up to the sixty five mile an hour seventy seventy mile an hour range as you're head out of town here, then you really start to feel it. It really comes
in right there. So it's it's a balance issue. Within the tire.
So, like I said, I had him address it last time because I knew that we were going to be going up to New York. And I
was like, and when you get up to New York, they have that eighty mile an hour zone that's up there up on the other side, and I can't remember exactly where it is, but it's it's up a little ways.
So you really start to feel it coming right around seventy five miles an hour. And I knew as soon as I got up to that speed that
it wasn't addressed. You could interestantly feel it, and it was you know,
it's definitely a balance issue. So I took a car in this time
over to the dealership and I'll let him take a look at it. And
I said, hey, I had it here last time when you guys did the oil change on it. And I had you guys go ahead and did
two things for me. I had a tire that's losing air a little bit.
That tire still losing air, like I had it here in it.
And I'm just so you know, just simples can be not I'm not like aggravate or anything like, I'm hey, just you know, just so you know I was here, and when I was here, you know, you guys address a tire losing air issue for me, and that tires to losing air and I'm getting that same vibration when I had it here the last time.
I was like, I think it's a balance issue, and I don't go in there, just so you guys know. You know, y'all know
I'm a car guy through and through. You know, worked on cars for
a long period of time. You know, go in there knowing it all.
Yeah, I'm definitely not going there in there as to know at all.
I'm just not doing it. I just that that doesn't help anybody.
You're not gonna get it anywhere with that. That's not how I'm approaching the
situation. So I just I'm playing it real simply, even though I pretty
sure I know what the problem is. I'm going to let them come up
to their own conclusion. So, you know, I kind of just as
I'm checking in. Here's just the things when you do it's you know,
it's definitely kept something off with the balance. If we can readdress that and
take a look at it again. For me, I really appreciate it,
and the guy that was checking me and he's like, well, let me go ahead and turn you over to my tire expert. I'm like okay,
sure. So they have me pull forward over to the little tire area and
the tire experts like, hey, so what's going on. I'm like hey.
So I go back through the story with him again. Now I don't
mind telling the story again, but I kind of already I hate telling the story twice. It just you know, it's you got an iPad in the
hand, type it up. Yeah, it's okay, you understand. But
it's so I go back to the story with him and I tell him the story again or wait a minute, time out. Okay, let's first start.
Whereas they in the same lane. Was he probably like five steps away
from him because he sallow your car like a Flay employee and say, hey, this is David. This is what's going on, you assistant. I
probably could have told the story once because okay, this is day, by the way, So I'm telling his story twice. Still not I'm not,
you know, okay, I'm gonna tell it. So I tell it.
So the tire expert walks around the car and he puts his hand on all my tires and he's rubbing the tires, and I know what he's doing.
He's checking the tread and he's wanting to make sure that the tires are you know, wearing equally or whatever. So I know, like I said,
I know what he's doing. He's checking the tires and stuff. And that's
fine. I mean, the same thing I would probably do. I probably
would have got a tired depth gage and and checked him and stuff. And
so he's looking at them all and he's like, well, your tires look like they're running right around about five thirty seconds, it's probably time that you go ahead and you know, think about replacing those tires. Okay, Well
at that point in time, I'm that's kind of like a stop point for me a little bit, because at five thirty seconds really isn't time to replace those tire ship. We should be probably at the four thirty seconds. So
they're getting close. I like, I'm gonna lie. I run mine down
to a closer to three thirty seconds where I really truly get all my wear out of the tires. And that's just me. I know, forty four
thirty seconds is when the tire play starts to recommend them. I run mine
down until trip somebody tries to throw anyway. I mean, so there's still
life my tires. I'm definitely not thrown away at five thirty seconds. It's
just not happy. I'm not putting new tires on it. But that's not
where my my problem is. It's not the tires, guys, It's definitely
not. But again, it's not your place to know that, right,
it's not my place to know that. I'm still mister dummy. I'm not.
You know, did they replace the tire last time. No, they
they didn't break a beat or something. They don't place tire lose air,
right, But like I said, so, and he's like, I feel just a little bit of I feel like I think maybe what's just start to be a little bit of a cuppying on this tire right here. I agree
with you, sir, you do feel But once again, I'm playing dumb because I'm off the car. Guy, I bet you do feel a little
bit of just a little bit of a cupping on that tire because that's the tire that keeps losing air that you guys didn't fix right the last time.
So if that tire keeps on going down on air, and I gotta keep on adding air to it because it wasn't repaired right the first time. I'm
sure there might be just a little bit of copying because it's going down in air and as I drive and I see it lose air and I gotta go fill up air. That means it's not properly aired up all the time.
So there's gonna be just a tad bit of copying. This conversation through a
car window, by the way, no, I was standing outside the car.
But I'm not having this conversation with him. I'm having this conversation in
my head, totally having this conversation with him. I was having this conversation
in my head. I'm not telling them what I know. I'm just listening
to the advice I'm given because I they're doing their job. I'm not going
to tell them how to do their job. You're that nobody wants nobody,
nobody wants the job. Plus I want to see if they can do the
right right obviously, and I'm trying to let them get to the woind up doing their job because and I'm not trying to play games with anybody, by the way, guys, I just I'm letting them do their job. I
know how to do mine. I did cars for a very long time.
I know how to do it. But I know that what I'm feeling in
the car has nothing to do with a tire. Okay, I just I
know it's it's not a tire. There is a balance issue somewhere within that
car. So they're like, well, we're gonna take a round back,
and so I was like, I was like, he's like, well, can I can I price you out some tires? I said, you can,
but I'm not buying any tires. But you, I mean, by
all means, I mean that's your job. Obviously, that's what they pay
you to do. Here be the tire expert. So he gives me the
tires were badly priced. I know I can get them a little cheaper,
but they weren't by all means, guys, to let you know, for being a dealership, I didn't think the tires are two price two badly priced.
They gave me good, better and best pricing. And the ones I
probably normally would have picked for them was in their middle section what they call they're good. And that's the ones I probably would have chose to put on
the car because I know that brand, and I liked that brand. UM,
and I didn't think they were too terribly priced, to be really honest with you, installed on the car. Um. So just so you know,
I didn't you know, it wasn't too wasn't It wasn't. I just
didn't need them yet they did take the car in the back. Now,
I was there for an awfully long time. Now, I did not have
an appointment in the beginning. I called in originally to set an appointment,
and they said that they had some appointments available that afternoon if I would like to bring it in you know, within the hour. And I said,
well, I didn't have anything, Sure, I'll bring it in. Um.
I didn't know with bringing in within the hour meant that I was going to be there for the next two over four and a half. Really,
yeah, for an oil change. So if I had known that, I
probably wouldn't have done that. But Neil's to say that's nor here either.
But had I know that's what the case would have been, then uh.
Like, I think I got there at like twelve thirty and I didn't leave there until well, thank you, sir, I was out of there by five o'clock. So, yeah, souched too, So yeah, absolutely,
So anyway, I'm not complaining whatever I mean, it is what it is.
That still didn't hurt my feelings any I mean just it's just the world of cars, I you know, but there was there's there's there was more to it. So you know, they're back there with a car and I
charge a constellation fee. No like. And when it comes down to it,
it was, well, we checked the balance and the tires. The
tires seem to be pretty well balanced, but we did end up finding a little bend in one of the wheels. I was like, okay, well
that would make sense. Maybe it hit a pothole or something like that,
right, I was. And the wheel is going to be six hundred sixty
dollars for a new wheel. I was like, well, of course,
you know me I first said it too, right, No, No, you're right, no, right, so of course, you know, I jump on the line real quick and I look, I can get it for a quarter of that price by it myself, right, yeah, before I do that. The car is so new, is it not covered under any
tier? Rim No? But that thing about it was is I was like,
well, I said before I would ever do any of that I'll just send it over to the wheel doctor and just let him go ahead and put it on the machine, put the micrometer on it, and just go ahead and turn it les dollars. Yeah for less. Oh, you can't do
those things that can't be done to those wheels. Why not? I'm like,
why why not? He's like, oh, well, that's an aluminum
wheel. I'm like, oh no, it definitely can be done to that
wheel. I've had him done before. But he's like, oh no,
yeah, I can't fix on those wheels. So that right there, I
can't say one percent on that wheel if it can or can. I can
tell you that I've had a wheel extremely similar to that wheel that I've had done made out of the exact same thing that wheels made out of. That
could be done. So I haven't called over there yet, but you see,
maybe it's like a different deposit or something. I don't I don't see
any reason why that wheel cannot Yeah, no, I could ever muster up.
Hold that thought, guys, I got to take quick commercial breakwincome back.
I got just a little bit more on that and into the next story.

Radio, your automotive specialist. Now back to your host, Dave palach Heys.
Welcome back to the show. So, if you're far along during the
first part of the show, it's kind of trying to break it down for you. Guys. You kind of had an understanding, so just so we're
clear. For me, it's not really the fact that I thought they were
trying to upsell you, oh now a stop. Really even the upsale portion
of it, Like, look, I understand that you know, everybody's doing the job. I think I think it was just a series of little things
that you know, kind of went together. You know, it was like,
well it was already transferred. Let me ask you this person, you
know, let me ask you in a different light. All right, So
because you worked in automotive industry, right for a longer stuff. So do
you think maybe he was trying to save you the long issue of how to come back and just see if we're placing the tire solved your issue altogether?
Hold on, souse, you've done that before. Sure, let me okay,
so let me try this all right. Camera's like, who I got
one too? Okay? Hold all right. To answer your question, I
don't think he was trying to save him in the long run. I think
that he knew that there was a problem and Pops said that it was something with the tires, and the best thing to do is, let's replace the tires and see if that If you're just guessing it's well, let's replace the obvious choice, which is the tires. And that's where it gets the cust
It's not a if it was if it was a part that if they came to you and said, let's say it wasn't tires, right, it could still be totally unrelated. If they came to you and said it was twenty
bucks, I guarantee we would probably be happy. Well here, let me
give let me give it to you. From a different scenario, what if
I decided to just really be a jerk about it, And maybe not a jerk is the right way to put it. But what if I was like,
you know what, you're right, I'm gonna need those nine hundred dollars tires. Let's put those nine hundre dollar tires on it. Now, I
know those weren't gonna fix the problem, but I let you put the nine hundre dollar tires on them. And you put the tires on it. Was
that the price? Yeah, they're like, oh gosh, he said that
was a good price. That's about right for the type of tires on it,
their nineteen inch tires, their file tires, you know what I mean.
Like, that's that's about the going rates. So let's just say,
well, let's just say that I let them put the tires on it.
I know that's not gonna fix the problem, but maybe maybe I should have let them put the tires on it. So I let them put the tires
on it, and then I take the car around the block and I come right back and go, man, this car still got the same problem.
And I'm not paying for those tires. Now what right? Right now?
You know, now they're in a whole pickle. Well, now you're gonna
happy customers to him, right, I'm an unhappy customer, but still, but I'm happy them to put themselves in that pickle. I could have been
that guy, right that allowed them to put themselves in that position, because I know I'm a car guy, but you're still left without your your problem being solved, right right, I am, But I and I could have let them put themselves in that position, knowing that I'm holding back the information that I know a lot about cars, right right, So I could have just sign me up, daddy, you know what I mean, and put the tires on it, knowing that wasn't going to fix my problem. Because
here's what would have happened. I know for a fact that that car would
have got tires put on it. Somebody would have itched, would have won
in the back. Some junior technician was going to get a signed tires.
He was gonna whip a set of tires on it, throw that on the car, and send me out the door. They wouldn't have caught that,
rim I guarantee it. They wouldn't have because they would just whip tires on
it, and that that would have been it. And i'd have got back
in it, and the car would I went when I got to seventy miles an hour that and that would have been it. I came right back and
go, hey, guys, y'all didn't solve my problem, but you were sure enough sold me nine hundred dollars tires on a bad room by the way, you know what I mean. So and then now the car gets Now
the car gets pulled back in okay, and they go, oh, well we found that there's and it's a very minute bend from one told it's not even big, it's very minute's And that's what they're assuming is make a noise, which would make sense. I can't confirm that's even what it is,
right, but that would make sense high scale, right, right, right, there's a very very high chance that's what it is. So now you
put minibration and likes it. Now you put nine hundred dollars for the tires
on my car. Didn't solve the problem. And I'm now would have the
right to be an irate customer because that's what happens to every auto garage.
If you sell him something, it doesn't solve the problem. Now the customer's
mad. So I could have been that guy, but I'm not that guy,
you know what I mean, Because I'm just I didn't let them put themselves in that position. I easily could have whatever saying to I was like,
I don't think tires is a problem. On top of that, that's
definitely not buying tires with a five thirty seconds still left on the tires either.
I'm just not doing that either, because at that point, yeah, you were kind of trying to sell me something I really didn't need yet.
Yeah, but you know which probably would have irritated some people if they were kind of a car person I knew better, and you know what I mean, they might have been a little upset that if you would had a car guy coming there and you would trying to sell them tires and you told him and he already did his math and checked his tires and knew he was already at five to thirty seconds, and you told me to get tires, you would you would have got a guy that would have been a little upset.
Why are you trying to sell me tires? You know I don't need tires
yet. But once again, I'm not that guy either. So there's a
lot of different ways this could have went. You know what I mean in
a discount, I mean, can't get with the price well, and so I'm just saying there's a lot of different thing, like I said, I think just the calamity of little things. Like I said, there wasn't a
whole lot of stuff that was just little things. And then to the point
where it was like, well, you know you can't repair that room, and I'm like, well, no, you can repair that room. That
room, like I said, and I can't. I want want to give
you guys the impression one hundred percent and say it can't. I just know
I've had Alloy wheels fixed many times, many different cars over the years for customers. I've had him fixed on my own vehicles when I got just a
little tiny ben because you know, you hit, you'll hit a pothole, and every once in a while you get just a little bit of ben.
And if you put it on a mic, the mic is off just a little bit, and then you just put it through a rim machine. It
takes that out and it fixes a problem. Like I said, I've had
it done a bunch of different times, and I'm sure that's exactly what the problem is. This time, but be told it can't be fixed and you
had to buy a wheel. I just think that's all strange so much the
chart they quote the wheel for it. So you were at five sixty six,
six sixty or six nineties how much you said you were at five thirty two. That was your death on your tire. Yeah, five thirty two,
So they said, I looked. I just looked it up because I
was curious at how long that would last you, and so they said it usually it could last you another year or two. I'm aware. Yeah.
So so it's a kind of like, M, yeah, I don't need tires. Yeah, buddy, Yeah, that's why I said. I was
just like, M, I kind of I did. I did. I
made the Grima's face to myself too when he told me, He's like, oh, you're right at needing some tires. I was like, hmm,
yeah, it doesn't. As I started telling you, like and I think,
like our viewers should know about this, because like I know that you know about all the protection plans and all the stuff like that, and you know, I don't think some of our viewers understand like when you purchase a vehicle or some of the companies that you use to purchase a vehicle, or some of the programs you use for that vehicle come with stuff trip away for by chance, they come with multiple perks. Brands come with multiple perks,
even some of the manufacturers. Did you know, and I didn't know this
until just recently, did you know a Hondy vehicle will cover you roadside assistance if you're the first primary owner for ten years, for ten years, will coming and I were having a sidebar conversation, is like, I think you need to check because I think your car has like seven years tire and wheel coverage on it if you purchase it using a Toyota find a lot of people won't even know. I was like, I was like, does it I
was like, and I'll be honest, yeah, I don't. I don't
know if it does or doesn't. And I did use uh, Toyoa finance
on the car when we first got it, so I don't. And that's
why I asked, because most of the time, if you use Toyota finance or Honda finances the next big one, they include stuff. So if you
battery buy a Honda vehicle, um through Honda finance instead of them covering you for it, just like Toyota will for two years. Um Honda usually covers
you for the first two oil filter changes. If you buy it through their
finance company, they cover it for the next two years on oil filter changes, which is usually only two or four years of things. Sometimes that's not
told you, sometimes doing by the vehicle, and most of the time if you don't mention it, the service teams won't look it up or they just don't know about it. Eat it don't right, Yep, it makes sense.
Like I said, I mean, there's just there's little things. So
that was that was the dealership experience. And like I said, I mean,
I didn't leave there unhappy or anything like that. It was just little
things just kind of made me go, and I'm gonna take the car over and have somebody take a look at the wheel. Anyway, before I purchased
a wheel and see if the wheel can be fixed. Like I said,
he said, it's very minute. I mean, that's maybe what's causing it,
and which would make sense because I don't really feel it until I get up to a higher speed. So I got a wheel guy that I've had
wheels for me many times over the years. So I'm just gonna run over
to him and have him take a look and see if put it on micrometer and just check the runout on the wheel and just see if that's what it is and if it can be fixed and if not. By the way,
the wheel online if you buy it directly, is two and twenty dollars, not six sixty or six ninety or whatever it was. And I would much
I'd take a huge up charge that i'd buy the wheel directly through there if I was gonna do anyway. So that's that, Okay, move into the
truck. As you guys know, I've told you guys in the truck,
I was having eight noise come out of the truck after I had the brand new wheels and tires. But we've got bad luck with tires. I don't
know what it is so and I have not had time to address it.
And not that I drive the truck a whole lot of places anyway, I just don't. So I finally had got some time and I took the truck
over to have the wheels and the tires taking a look at. So I
went back to where I purchased the wheels and tires. And if you guys,
Remember I put a custom set of wheels and tires on the truck finally, after all this time. Talked about doing it forever and I just didn't
ever get around with him. And one of the original you guys, remember,
I had to blow out on the truck and it damaged one of the original rims. And when I looked up the original rim, it once again
was like where we put the low in order sign effect, but one of the original you know, it was what why, I can't remember how much it was, but we looked it up. It was like four or five
hundred dollars for the original rim or something like that for that truck, and I was like, I want to spend that kind of money. I'm putting
custom rims on that trum. Finally, I'm just not gonna spend that kind
of money. So I broke down. Finally found the set of rims and
tires that I really wanted for the truck, and I went to go purchase them. After putting them on. Right after putting them on, same thing,
when the truck drives fine, But when I got up on the freeway, I had an unusual like feeling in the truck and I was like, man, it's yeah, you could feel. I was like, there's a
balance issue with this thing, and how is it? Both my vehicles that
I've just had work done on within like a month of each other both seem to have a balance issue. I was like, what is What's it kind
of felt like and I guess it is us like car enthusiasts, Yeah, we but we also know, like we know when a tire's completed a full tire rotation. Rather than you know, the normal person, they probably going
to be like, well, how many tire rotations did that? Did that
go? Us, We're like, okay, during that one tire rotation,
I was able to feel the same exact little bump when I was driving the vehicle, and it's in the same a little area because I'm feeling I'm like okay, one oh two three, And it kind of feels like when I felt like to me and you could correct me if I'm wrong, it kind of felt like the feeling of the truck trying to to yank to the side just a little bit. It's just like that just wasn't something you felt.
It like kind of grabbing to the side a little bit. I don't think
grab you just felt like something would kick in at a certain speed. You
feel like there's like a weight shift, weight shift in it, a shimmy would probably get like a shimmy in it right at a certain speed. And
it's it's a balance issue. It's just really definitely balance issue for sure.
So two vehicles both a balance issue. What's the chance of that all happens
all within a month of each other? So I decide to finally have some
time to stop in to where I purchased that from to have a conversation with them. You would think that I would have one experience at one one or
the other whole tight. I'll tell you how that experience went. You guys
aren't gonna believe it. I'll tell you. I'll be right back. You're
listening to Dave Colatch on Let's Talk Cars Radio. Dave will be right back.

Whitlow and Sons Incorporated. Welcome back to Let's Talk Cars Radio, your automotive
specialist. Now back to your host, Dave Palach, Hey, guys,
welcome back. So let me bring you up to speed. Truck's got an
issue. It's got to balance problem. What's the chance of that as well?
Just like the camera, you had some type of problem. So I
take it over. Like I said, I bought brand new wheels and tires
for it. So I take it over and I walk in and I'm once
again pleasant as can be, and I'm like, hey, I got some wheels and tires. I purchased them from you guys, and ever since I
put them on, let me guess, they were like fucking getting to my wheels. So I'm like, well, we just put wheels on here.
I'm like, I just put these wheels and tires on. I'm like,
and I'm feeling a vibration ever since that I've had them put on, I said, But I did what I was supposed to. You know, after
about five hundred miles, I made sure that they're retorked and talked him back down. He's like, well, when are you? When are you when
you're starting to feel it? Now? Here's the thing right off the bat,
here was here was kind of I think maybe this is what kind of put me in a uneasy setting. Uneasy setting. I won't to say a
bad mood, uneasy setting. It was the way I was questioned, like
accusatorial, like you know what I mean, Like it was it like somebody like It wasn't like informational questioning. It was more like an accusatorial question,
like somebody kicked off the lights, grabbed the lantern. Was like, well,
sir, maybe a little bit. I mean, so you know,
he was like, I said, uh so I told him. I said,
uh, it's you know, it's it's got a weird vibration that comes in once again right around a certain speed. I said, Now I don't
I didn't really, you don't really feel it. I said, you know,
if I get ut here on the freeway and I run around about fifty five, I don't really feel it. I said. It's when you get
up to right around about six stee going into sixty five you start to feel it. I said, Now, if I get a little bit over get
a little over seventy, it tends to calm down a little bit and go away. He goes, oh, well, that's not how balance works.
I was like, once again, I'm not talking about being a car person.
So I'm not gonna correct him because at that point, like everything in my being wants to like crawl on my skin and go, yes it does, right, Like yes, so fast you go, things will smooth out on a balance issue. Please tell me. Don't try to tell me it
doesn't, because it does. But that's the whole reason why I don't feel
it all the time, right, Like the whole reason why I hate being a car guy. It's because, like I just want to call people out
when they give bad information, and but but I'm not that guy. I
was like, I'm just gonna let you do your job, like like, okay, well tell me a little more. You're right you, so give
me a little bit more information please. So it was like, m He's
like, well, you know, usually if you have it, it could be suspension or maybe there's something wrong. I knew, maybe there's something wrong
with the alignment or something. I was like, now, I said,
doesn't doesn't mean lan, I said, had the alignment already checked it checked out, has spension checked it checked out, had all brand new breaks put on it right, you know, right when the wheels and tires were done here. So I know it's not that He's like and so there he goes
and you know, it's kind of well, I think it might be new.
Sound sounds like we're playing the guessing game, right, and it's like, hey, why WoT just take my tire off and check it out?
Right? Well, it's the noises are going along with it too. It's
like, you know, I don't really want to do this, right, Maybe I can get this guy an answer where right, well, go away, like so we go inside. I gotta get up out of my Now,
here's the thing. The guy who sold me the tires and rooms is
right there at the next computer over. Did he ever say anything? No,
that's so messed up. Right now, you sold me what almost three
thousand dollars was the wheels and tires and you've yet to Hey, and we've had a long conversation, right because usually that's how we buy wheel We had an almost all day conversation about selling me wheels and tires. I had to
think about it and then came right, so you know me right, like you know what I mean, like will be like second cousins, you know what I mean? Because like I called him and he was I was like,
what are you doing? And he was like sitting in the parking lot
thinking about I was sitting in the lobby. I was looking at books and
stuff. So you know, we would established a relationship at that point,
just a certain degree. Plus mine's the only truck in town that has those
wheels and tires on it, so that truck stands out. And this will
come back later on conversations, just so you guys understand. So he has
yet to address me, you know what I mean, Like we make eye contact, he hasn't come over. Hey, how's it going, how's those
wheels? And are you having a problem. Nothing. I'm dealing with this
younger gentleman who doesn't know me from Adam, wasn't there when I purchase with rights, doesn't believe what I'm saying, you know what I mean, it's just kind of trying to find every reason why it's not going to be a balance issue. At that point in time, the conversation should have stopped any
party, you know what, mister pilatch and grab some one a little high.
Let me go ahead and just know, let me go ahead and get the vehicle pulled in, Let's get those tires offt for you. Let's just
check all the balance on Let's just see if it's a balance issue, and then we'll go from there. That's how the conversation. You just bought your
wheels, no worries. Reasonally, we're gonna get it up. Let's just
check the balance. If it's not the balance, so the way we can
go from there and find out get to the bottom what really what it is.
That's how the conversation should I let's improve your experience right here. Yeah,
let's improve your experience. Let's take you you know what, you had
a good experience when you left here, Let's take it to the next level and improve it even more. No, what we decided to do is go
backwards in the other direction from there is what we decided to do. And
that's the difference, guys, between as I try to tell you, when you deal with places and stuff like that, is really having just a really good place that you deal with on a regular basis. Now you're gonna ask
and not just treat people like you go to one of the places you tell us about all the time. Well, here's the deal. A lot of
the places, our nap auto gage and stuff like that, they don't they don't specialize in selling you know, custom rims and stuff like that. That's
just not what they do. I didn't want to buy the rims online and
have them sent to me because I told you guys about to buying a lot of things online. If you have a problem, there's a fitman issue,
there's a defect or something like that, then you got to ship it back and you go and play with it. I didn't want I want to buy
it someplace in town where if I had a problem, it's their problem.
It was their problem. I was dealing with them directly, and I had
to sea to look at well, apparently the face I had to look at I didn't want to look back at me this time around. So there was
where the problem was for me. So they bring the vehicle in and they
take a look at it, and he's like, well, I've pulled one off and the first I pulled the first one off, and the first one seems to be balanced. Just fine, that's not the one I have problem,
Like, you took the time to come in and tell me that you've taken one wheel off, and the first one you've taken off it seems to be balanced. Fine. Okay, Well, what I want to say about
free to get to, yeah, you need to get to it, like, I'm not. What is fine in your day? Right? The problem
I kind of had with it was I'm starting at the basics because that's what I was taught in automotive. The last thing was touched on the car was
the wheels and tires. I didn't have a balance issue or a shaking the
vehicle until I put these new wheels and tires on it. We put the
new wheels and tires on, the vehicle now has a shake. It didn't
have it, Betil, I brought it to you. So I'm gonna go
back to the last thing that was touched on the car. Wasn't that so
needs to say? They go through them all. He says, well,
we didn't really find anything, but let me bring you around and show you something. You see this tire right here, This tire right here's cupping kind
of funny. I was like, this is the second time I had a
couple of conversation in a couple of days. I'm like, well, I
said, well, I said the tire seeds. I said, it's not
an air pressure issue. I was like, and he's like, we're using
what causes that? Something wrong with the suspension or something. I'm like,
area, He told you from the get go, I've had this feel completely checked out. Alignment's good on it, suspension's good on aything, It's been
checked by this vehicle. It checked out a okay, I said, I
did that because I just put new wheels and tires on it. And when
I put new wheels and tires, I want to make sure I didn't have anything wrong with my suspension or anything like that, because I didn't want to wear my tires out. I was like, So I went had the alignment
checked. I had the suspension checked when we put the new wheels and tires
on it, to make sure that I wasn't going to prematurely wear out these brand new tires. Have you got in check in it after? I haven't,
but I had it checked when I put the wheels and tires on it.
As soon as I have the wheels and tires on it, I went and had everything checked purposely for that reason, and everything checked it. He
goes, I'm just wondering more stress on the suspension or it could it could be not riding at it. I felt it immediately, right immediately, I
started to feel that, So I said, right, when he took the car to truck off the lot. Yeah, yes, you know. Check.
I made sure the chad the check has a suspension check right after I left. So he's like, well, if it was, who'd you have
it checked by? And I said, I said, well, I had
it checked by one of our local sponsors. I said, I hadn't checked.
And they checked everything. Check out okay on the vehicle. Well,
I suggest you take to somebody else then for a second opinion. Look.
So he instantly slams me taking it someplace. Did you hit him back with
the same thing, and I said, I said, well, I said, I said, I can easily have a second opinion done. I said,
but I'm gonna take it to another one of my nap auto garages and let them check it, you know, to have them look at it.
I said, because it doesn't pull. It's not pulling. I'm not hearing
anything in the suspension to alert me to the fact there's anything wrong with suspension.
The vehicle tracks perfectly down the road. You're a better guy than I
am. I'm like, God have been like. So once I take this
to the other shop and I get it all fixed, and they say that nothing's wrong. Do I have to Should I go to a different No?
What I said was I said? I said, I said, I understand
what you're are you coming from my sold Let me tell you where I'm at with this, I said. Once I take it to another shop and confirm
that the alignment is still good and there's nothing wrong with the suspension, you do tire is cuffing unexpectedly, then we're going to have a problem because you're going to come back tire with us, talk about that one tire that's You're going to come back to me and go, well, maybe then second opinion shop didn't put this back on correctly, and that damage this even more.
It happens, you know, I said, I'm gonna go have it checked one more time. I said, but if the alignment's still good and there's
nothing wrong with the suspension, then we're gonna have a conversation about this one tire because one tire that's coping, you know, ad normally, I said, could just be a one fault tire. He goes, well, then
it should be happening to all the tires, shouldn't be. I was like,
no, it could be just one bad, faulty tire and that's where the tires came off. The same conveyor is the other one. Did you
ever let him know that you have just a little bit of car? They
well, they then, so I go back inside and the guy who sold me the tires is like, I remember sell any of those tires, and I was like you do, do you? I was like, yeah,
it's kind of hard to miss with those wheels and tires and that truck kind of stands out just a little. Appreciate you back around, right, I
want to say, But that comes back around that he did remember me, but he just didn't want to do the issue. He didn't want to come
and deal with the issue or anything, which is then just bothered me even more. Guys, So once again, I guess it doesn't matter, but
it really should be careful where you buy things from, and you really should stick with finding a great shop that really truly cares about you and appreciates the fact that you spend a big chunk of money with them, that they're going to stand by and do the right thing. Because you know, I was
happy up up to that point. All I went back was with a balance
issue and having just a little bit of a problem and it seemed like nobody really wanted to do with me, and I thought I handled it to the best of my ability, and I thought I was doing the right thing by just saying, Hey, I think I got an issue. Let's check it
out and see what we can get the bottom of it. You guys,
tell me, could it's something different be done? You let me know I
can take commercial break, awake it back. I got a little bit more
for you. You hold tight. Talk to you soon. You're listening to

automotive specialist. Now back to your host, Dave Palatch. Hey, guys,
welcome back to this show. Here's a weird trivia question for you.
Did you know that, like the Guinness Book World's road record is the man to go pe for the longest is like nine minutes, five hundred and eight seconds, like down in seconds. Don't ask me why we know that.
I guess probably because we're always trying figure out way to go to the bathroom.
If you wanted to know, that's a gallon. That's a gallon of
water. That's a lot of water. So like impressed the money, just
just say you know, yeah, you're always trying to find a way to run to the restroom real quick between commercial breaks. That's how that came into
conversationally. There's how much how long you gotta go pee fo? Yeah,
well apparently that's the the world's record. So hey, you know we're always
talking about overreach. Yeah, you know when it comes to like all the
new technology, people just having their hand the cookie jar. Yeah, well
when it comes to the new technology when it comes to cars, and it just seems like every time we turn around, there's just somebody always has something to say, all right, I got I got, I got one for you. This kind of goes hand in hand with something we talked about a
while back, and then it came back up, I think a couple months ago with some new technology stuff we're talking about with the cameras and stuff, and now here is the next new thing. You're gonna love this, but
you're not gonna love it, but it's sarcastically. You're gonna you're gonna love
this one. All I can do that I'm gonna love it all right.
So hey McDonald's. So remember when we were talking about as you go into
cities, uh, them regulating your speed as you go into the cities, Right, Yeah, they wanted to automatically control the speed, right, they want to automatic control. Well, how about if I told you the new
overreach, which just is real now now things that we were joking about or we thought would be in the future is now real. How about if you're
a speed junkie, the government orders you to put a device in your car that limits your speed in your car now how about that. I'll go right
to you, like I supped to your camera. I don't know what happened
to your camera, but when it's something while you're gonna If you've never seen our posters, they are, Um, that was a little weird. I
don't have any other remote but where we were Oh no, um, I'm ripping that device out. I mean but at the same time, almost like
a breath lize. Okay, I was about to say, at the same
time, it's like a breathalizer. I can do for it for a year.
What if they just what if it's not a year? What if you
just that's it, You're one and done, you can start it. You'd
be one of those guys that are known for speeding, and now you're just stuck with this device in your car. By the way, it only allows
you to go five miles over the post of speed limit in any speed limit area. That's it. Five miles over, that's it. Your your car
is not because GPS is not even accurately. You can be on a fifty
five mile per hour fifty mile per hour road and the speed limit on the GPS is like thirty five. I'm gonna have every single person behind honking at
me going can only go five miles over the post of speed limit, cannot achieve anything over that. That's it. Yeah, serious, this is what
they are trying to vote this into law right now as we do. They
have a stated like what the purpose for the technology would be, like is it for all streets or is it for like Christian habitual speeder like somebody we know. You would be ordered to have this device installed in your car.
So it's a device, yeah, it's that's to be installed car, just like a breath lizer would be. This device would be ordered to be install
in your car, which you know which is bad about this, right, so you know that not only just like a breath lizer, you're gonna have to pay for the installation and then had to have this vice. That's fine,
that's fine, all this stuff. I'm going to Oklahoma. I'm gonna
go buy a slither a slither of land for under bucks, go buy a mailbox for fifty bucks and put it in the middle of the land, and then register my car yep. And then when they come to me and go,
sir, sir, you need to install this device. And I'm gonna
be like wow, per Oklahoma rules, per Oklahoma rules. I am a
traveler, I'm a ruling sty I'm a rolling I'm just telling I just this is just like another one of those things that we were joking about. It
seems like years ago and now this technology is here, Like so you guys understand, this is not like in the future. This is something that I
think. It's New York right this second. It's actually trying to vote into
law. So go take a look. If you guys live in New York,
you and see New York was just trying to kick If this is one state, it will be the next state, in the next state, in the next date. That's just how this stuff dominoes. You know, California,
You'll be the next crazy state to follow because they follow everything. They
already lost half of the population. Where they're going to do with the other
I'm just I saw this. Somebody sent me this, and I was just
like, holy cow, so oh it's crazy. So and here so here's
the next thing ready. So it's another one of those flashbacks flash splashbacks.
Uh, we talked years ago, and I thought it was I was I tried to look it up real quick before he came on the air and I couldn't find it, but I know it's out there somewhere. I thought there
was a California university that was working on this. They were they were working
So you're kind of right, You're I'm kind of right, kind of right, Yeah, just a little bit and stuff. So what I was looking
up? Tell me if I'm wrong, if you're talking. Maybe it's a
different article. You know, there's different projects going on, but they're talking
about this. If I maybe I say it wrong, but Pizzo electricity crystals.
So basically they're laying the street with this like ceramic and basically as the car drives over it, it produces electricity from basically just the weight and vibrations.
It could be I know there was a university that was working on that.
Electric cars could drive across the road and the road would charge the electric cars as it drove across the road. I don't know how they were well
that would work with that because they're talking about powering street lights and just you know continuous power that going down the road. Okay, I don't know how
they were achieving it, but they were working on it. There was a
university. I thought it was there five crystals? No, So basically the
way, like I only read up a little bit on it and stuff, but basically it's just pressure wise. So basically as it drives over, it's
just kind of the batteries and stuff, it's just powering things around it.
So one crystal, not five, that's not I think it's really crystals.
I think it's just a name of what the I don't know, substances or a yeah exactly. Yeah. So now they have the rumor is there's the
technology where they're gonna look at you drive over and you park and you can charge your car. So I'm having to plug your car in to charge it.
They'll have like chargers in the floor where you can just put in in park and like almost like how you doc like you lay your phone down, the car would work the same way. And I was just like, well
that sounds real familiar, like ten years ago they are building this road, and so I think it's a good idea. But at the same time,
I think, like we haven't really found out the harm of wireless tech, wireless charging technology on batteries. I think it's a great thing, but I
think it is doing damage to our batteries, and the reason why it is we keep saying that we and we do. What do you think? What
do you think it doesn't damage in the battery though I was about to say, we do a lot of references to it our iPhone, right, the iPhone came out with wireless charging. I swapped over to it. You guys
know, I swapped over to wireless charging. I had two wireless chargers.
I just recently swapped back because it has taken my percentage of my battery from ninety nine within one year down to eighty two just because of wireless charging.
So then I looked it up. But then wireless charging does damage the battery.
It's all charging different influxes. Yeah, that's rather than what it's faster
and it's charging at normal, it's charging at different fluctuizations because as you charge the battery, you disintegrate the battery a little bit at a time. So
that's what I'm talking about. Like with electric cars. I mean, I
know that we've came out with a lot of different technology, but once you start putting wireless charging into it, have we really done the way? I
think I think we'll fix that problem, though I'm sure we will just because you know what you're talking about, right, is it? You know,
destroying the battery while you're charging it wise and stuff, But and you know, no same circumstance, you're doing the same for that. It's going to
be China's thing where they just drive it up into an auno shop and replace your whole battery for you, put a block out, pluck it back in with a fully charged food. And they do have cars now too. Yeah,
I saw the really tiny, tiny cars. So all right, so
if that one doesn't have you, how about you know how I told you guys that in the future, the near future, where all the different stuff will be on the car and you'll have to pay for subscription services and stuff like that. Well, it seems like the more we talk about it,
the more it comes out. We know, all the hacks are already getting
way ahead of the game, and they're already finding ways to jail break it all. So they're already starting to think of ways of jailbreak it, just
like remember we jail break the firestick when it came out. Well, now
all these hacks are trying to find a way to jail break the bars already.
You know what I mean, so they're already trying to find a way to jail breaking before this stuff comes out. Yeah, but Testlas showed us
exactly what will happen if we start doing that, and they will just lock the car and say, visit your nearest to you. Well, I got
you. They're gonna find a way around it somehow, So keep that in
mind. This is what's kind of going out there on the news. I
can't believe this show has gone by so fast. It went by very very
quick. I am going to try to get better and hopefully forgot what's going
on with surgery here soon. Medication hopefully keeps me standing up right for a
little while so they figure out what we're gonna do. I can't believe that
Saturday already came as quick as it did. Somebody's right around the corner,
guys. Make sure that you guys, unplug. Spend some time with your
family. Spend some time with your kids, hide their cell phone in the
cushions, unplug, enjoy your time with them. We're gonna go ahead and
get out of you guys, got anything, Enjoy your weekend, need news, some tires, I don't know. We're out of here. Love you,
guys. We'll talk to you guys soon. We're out of here.
