This is HARD Parking brought to you by Right Hunted, right Toyota out of Scottsdale, AZ. I'm your host, Jake Benning.
Coming up on today's show, I recap my vacation in Wisconsin a little bit. Some things I picked up from
travel. Devin Antrim is in studio
hanging out drinking the booze. We'll get an update from him.
We'll talk a little bit about cars, a little bit about life and a little bit about Tesla and all the crazy shit that is going on. So welcome back.
Good to be back. Good to have you.
Can't drink this on my own. What are we drinking?
Tell us what we're drinking today.
We'll drink a little Single Barrel courtesy of Evan Williams. It's pretty good.
You know about this? I don't know specifically about
this this bottle. I don't know much about it
either, but what I do know is that for a while you could only get it on the Bourbon Trail for the Bourbon Tour.
And so Drew Bunkley brought me back a bottle and when he did the tour, a couple. God, it feels like it's a couple
of years ago now, maybe last year.
But he'll correct me when he listens to this if he gets around to it. But what I discovered was when I
was in Texas in October, they re released it to the public.
So I just happened to be in a total wine early in the morning trying to find something else. And the guy goes, hey, we have
that Evan Williams. You know, you might want to get
that before it's gone. I look and go, OK, it's not
incredibly expensive. I don't know, 40 bucks maybe,
maybe 50, but I think maybe closer to 40.
But I realize, OK, that's the stuff that used to be unavailable unless you went to the thing.
And now they have it back on distribution.
But I've seen it more often than than not.
But it's a pretty good bottle of bourbon.
It's a good zipper. I definitely like it.
I can appreciate that. And yeah, I kind of put it up
there in the ranks of a good Basil Hayden or somewhere along those lines. You know, what's funny about
Basil Hayden's is I have a really good friend and she's always talking about Basil Hayden's.
And so, you know, they use it to make their old fashions.
And since it's so readily available, we don't really buy it that much. I'm kind of weird like that, but
I had it when I did Jordan so Walker's podcast at his house or he was on this podcast, not his house, but his job.
You know, when I did the one where I went to his place and I was sipping on some Basil Hayden, I go, huh.
Yeah, this isn't, isn't too bad. In fact, it would.
It's better neat than on the rocks.
So I end up buying some. So we have like, we're almost
completely out of Basil Hayden's downstairs.
Wanted to talk about this trip. So this time I flew on United.
Usually we do Southwest. And unfortunately, I had to go
up to Wisconsin for a celebration of life.
Good friend of the show, John Bosos, dear friend of mine, he had passed. And so this was the celebration
life at up at the real time collection all at Peter Cunningham's place. But I had points, so I flew
United. So First off, it's the I think
American, American and Southwest turn my ring off here.
American and Southwest do direct flights, but I had miles United.
I want to take advantage of our United Club passes that we have.
I think I complained about that before that we get 2 free passes, one single use pass a year, but we never fly United anymore. And so you can't redeem it just
like any other lounge that's, you know, airline specific unless you're flying that day, that airline.
So I use my points, went to the lounge, a couple couple thoughts. It's been a while since I've
been in airport lounge. I don't know if you ever go on
them. I can't say I'm I'm new to the
airport lounge game. I just, I just got kind of a
travel tailored credit card who got the Capital One Venture X card and kind of for that reason is the perks of lounges and things like that. And I know there's like some
reciprocation like the Chase Sapphire.
I think there's some reciprocation there in terms of their lounges. So you have to experience that,
but it's on my To Do List. Yeah.
So some of the, I think the credit card lounges are without question the best I have. Well, we have an American
Express Platinum that we got specifically for traveling.
And with that they have these things called the Escape lounges that they're all over the world. We have a few here.
Actually Sky Harbor has opened up a couple.
And So what happens is you go to the Centurion Lounge for American Express and they say, OK, the card holder gets in.
The guess is 50 bucks, maybe 75. We're like, no, they go, OK, but
you can go to the Express lounge, Escape Lounge, literally behind you. It's like going from this door
to my mother in But you know, check out your, you said Capital One venture. Capital One Venture.
X Capital One Venture X Because, you know, like I said, the Sapphire lounges get to the airport a couple hours early.
They don't care what airlines you're flying on because it doesn't make a difference. Get there a couple hours early,
get there. Hell, usually there's rules
where you can't get there more than like 3 hours early.
So they don't want people to sit there all day like they do at Starbucks because there's complimentary food, complimentary beverages, You know, there's some premium beverages, but I was able to take advantage of that on the way there. Connected to Chicago, went and
stopped at Garrett's, picked up a bag of popcorn because that's what you do when you go to a hair.
My buddy Andy was ripping on me later on during the week because he's like, or that weekend he's like, you go to Garrett's, we live in Chicago, just go to the grocery store, you know, Pop secret bub. I was like, Nah, dude.
That's a classic case of being from somewhere and forgetting that it's just the thing that other people do.
Exactly. I feel like that happens more,
more than everywhere. Everywhere, yeah, there's a
there's, if you're a local, you know, the the usual tourist traps, you know, that kind of thing.
Garrett's is not a tourist trap though.
Yeah, have you ever, Garrett? 'S I've never had it, no.
So it's I even missed that sip. There we go.
So Garrett's is Chicago owned essentially and they have a really popular spot, popcorn. OK.
There's Garrett's and there's Nuts on Clark.
Nuts on Clark obviously has stuff with nuts and they have popcorn. Garrett's for my money and my
time. It's just the best tasting
popcorn in the world that's made and it's kind of limited too.
So what I mean by that is every once in a while they'll have like seasonal stuff. One of the best popcorns I've
ever had was Garrett. It's like spicy cheddar
something only got it once and it's expensive.
You know, you get a bag, a large bag, which is a little bit smaller than you'd get, probably half the size you'd get from the movie theater. 20 bucks. But it's cheesy and it gets all
over your fingers and they're big plump kernels.
And then they have what's called the Chicago mix, which is caramel and cheddar. So usually just get the Chicago
mix. But everyone should have
Garrett's. If you like popcorn, you should
get Garrett's at least once in your life.
Yeah, that's not sweet and savory.
That sounds. That sounds like a jam.
Oh, it's. Best.
And, you know, I worked in Chicago for a year, flying there every week. And one of the hotels, I would
stay at one of the Marriotts, it was a Courtyard Marriott, but it basically shared a building with Garrett's.
Cool. Yeah.
So you get Garrett's all the time.
And then if you go to Chicago and visit and you go, hey, I want to go to Garrett's, Usually there's a line out the door for Garrett's, one of those type of places.
So anyway, my buddy was busting me, so I bought Garrett's, stayed at my buddy's house. But it's a beautiful event.
United though I hadn't flown in a while and I was boarding group 2, which is good. I'm thinking I'm a baller.
You know, I'm like wow, boarding group 2 and then I get there and the sign just says Group 1 and group 2.
So first I'm a little disappointed.
I'm like, wow, there's only two groups anyway.
But then I realized there's like a six or seven groups, but like Southwest, there's like 10 things that go even before Group One, including family. I'm like, well, now I have to
weigh the difference is it is United better than SW?
Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. I'm here to tell you it is
because of what happened next. So I get on and you sit down and
1st off, they have these large TV's and that's one thing that I bitch about Southwest. No TV's, no power outlets,
nothing. No frills.
And they're they're taking away a lot of other stuff too.
Yeah, the two, two check bags. I think if you're a list
preferred, you still get it. Yep.
Which that is, I think she's my wife.
She's a list. Like we just bought a Southwest
credit card so we could spend X amount of money in the first X amount of days and get the the buddy pass or the companion pass for a year. That's what we did when we went
on our vacation. We you only pay for one ticket
and you get 2 people, right? And yeah, can't beat that
because as of right now you get two people for the price of 1 ticket and four bags. But we don't really.
I mean last time I checked more than one bag per person was AI think we went to Europe right? So if you're one person you're
checking more than one bag for yourself.
You either better be buying a lot of liquor or you going to re evaluate how to pack. Yeah, exactly.
Half, half the time I don't even check a bag to be honest.
You know as a traveling sales guy or former traveling sales guy, you know it was always carry on only makes it quick and easy. Well, let's take a turn really
quick. So if former traveling sales
guy, you know, you got all dressed up to get on the podcast today because the reality is you just came from work.
So we can do this really quick. So, you know, thank you for
looking nice for me. You have a job update because
it's been a while since you've been in studio.
It's been a little bit, yeah. But you're still with
Batesville? Actually not with Batesville.
So left Batesville about a month ago, still working in the same, same industry. So funeral service stepped into
a role kind of directly into, well into a Funeral Home, managing a Funeral Home and cemetery operation here locally in the Phoenix Valley and kind of decided to change gears And kind of the focus there for me was to get off the road for travel. Because I, I don't know if
you're aware of this, but I had a son about a year ago.
So I just wanted to step back into something a little bit more consistent from a job perspective and and schedule, you know, more of an 8 to 5, no travel and be more present for my son, number one, but also kind of directly help folks in in one of the greatest times and needs in their life with the loss of a loved ones. Do you know about the sun coming
last time you were in studio? Honestly, I'm trying to think of
how long it's been. I may or may not have known at
that point that was a possibility.
Been in the last 24 months. Yeah, definitely has been the
last 20. Four, what's that?
OK. So what's that first year been
like for you? You know, it's been, it's been a
wonder. It's certainly been a quick
year, that's for sure. I mean, I feel like I blinked
in. It went from being April 4th,
2024 when he was born and now we're almost a year later and crazy. But a lot of milestones in that
short span of time for a, for a little one.
Well, I don't know if I knew that.
Maybe I did, and I apologize, But man, Congrats.
Maybe that's why we're here drinking.
Hey. And you brought me a little
squeezable casket. Yeah, a stress casket.
There you go. Yeah, take your stress out on
the casket. There you go.
Was that ASMR? Yeah, ASMR.
Stress casket ASMR. Yeah, that turning people on,
you know? Well that's pretty cool man.
So no more rental cars for you? Or not as often or.
You know, yeah, unfortunately, one of the one of the many perks that I'll give up is my my weekly rental car.
So I'll, I'll miss my hookup at the Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport. My girl over there always fixed
me up right. And I got to drive some pretty
sweet rides along the last really four to five years of doing the Batesville sales gig. So I'll miss that.
But still enjoying my own cars right now.
Still got the limo, still got my F-150 so.
So did you drive the limo or the F150 over here?
Today was a Lincoln day, you know, so getting her, I got to get her cleaned up because I actually have a buddy of mine this coming Friday, he's going to going to trade cars with me.
He's actually going to give me, I think his accurate legend and he's taking his daughter and her friends out for their birthday in my limousine. So doing a little swap.
So this should be my first time actually driving a legend.
Believe it or not, I've not yet ever driven once.
Wow, I know it's a shocker. We're the mutual friend.
I know. I'm sure he's offered.
He he has offered absolutely, that's that's what that usually I'm if, if he's offering, I usually tend to to offer his 92 NSX because that that is a a gem to drive.
And he actually he he recently gave me the opportunity to drive his newly acquired right hand Dr. Integra type R, which that
was an experience in itself. Needless to say, I stalled out a
lot. Got to got to get used to that
left hand and the gear changes, but definitely a fun car.
Yeah, so, you know, it wasn't a Type R, but I famously backed the JDM Fordor Integra into a pole a little over a year ago, almost, well, actually coming up on almost two years ago, you know, we got that whole thing fixed.
But you know, things come at you different when you're sitting on the opposite side. That is true.
And there was the only thing I could have hit.
I actually hit literally nothing else almost in a field backing up because I'd missed my original turn.
But I had a You ever driven a Hyundai Kona?
I have not. OK, so that's what I had picked
up at the airport. And no, it's, it's kind of a
racket, OK, Because with my job, I automatically get, you know, status with National. And so they have the executive,
right. And Once Upon a time, and maybe
it's the same depending on what airport you go to, but Once Upon a time you can get some pretty cool cars.
Oh yeah. When you could pick what you
want and it kind of. Depends on the airport to be
honest. Well, that's.
What I mean, but in in my opinion, any major city airport should have a pretty good selection of cars.
And I've kind of struck out a lot recently.
And it could be, you know, when are you landing, right?
When are you landing? But when I would travel to New
Jersey, I would, you know, sometimes get lucky.
You know, I think the coolest car I had in New Jersey was A5 series BMWM sport package, not a not to be confused, you know, with a real M and then you know, Dallas, you know, there's more than a few times where I picked up a Camaro s s 2SS, you know, so it had its, you know, place 5-6 years ago.
Would you say the pre pandemic era?
But I'm going through and I'm like, OK, pickup truck don't want it. I saw a a cool Hyundai, not a
Hyundai. The what's the Genesis, right?
I mean, the people like Hyundai is Genesis.
It is, but it isn't it's kind of its own thing now.
So I I saw a cool Genesis car, but as I got closer, I realized it belonged to enterprise by national and their corporate cousins and they're interchangeable, but not when they're both available. I took a step back.
I'm walking around. I go, OK, well, let me just grab
this. It's a Hyundai.
It's on a Honda, it's a Hyundai. I grabbed it and it looked all
right. It was a Kona got in kind of
looked around. You know, the the dash was kind
of cool thing had no power. I sat there and adjusted the
mirrors like you should, you know, just everything.
Make sure your lights are on as part of the.
Pre exit lock check, you know, got to check the mirrors, got to check, got to get the phone synced up and all that you know make. Sure, the headlights are on
because there's people. How many times have you left the
airport, especially at night, and you're looking, you're like that fool? If I had a dollar for every
person that was running daytime, running lights as headlights leaving the rental car lot, I'd be a rich man.
I mean, why not up it, up the ante?
You'd be wealthy if you had AAC note every time that that happened. But.
So I take the car, go to my buddy's house, we drink tequila till 3:00 AM, and this guy has hundreds of bottles of tequila in the basement. You know me, I don't stretch it.
I'm not saying I, I didn't catch a fish this big if I, if the fish was only this big. Hundreds of bottles.
So we go through, I think we drink 8 or 9 samples throughout the course of a few hours. Next morning, I go out and I'm
looking at my car. I'm like, this car's ugly car
looks like an Aztec. Remember the old Pontiac Aztecs?
I do remember. Those and I'm.
Thinking because I saw one on the road today when I was running an errand, a Gray one. And actually it didn't look as
bad as the kind of the reared off red one that I drove.
You know, that kind of, it's not really bright red.
It's not really maroon. It's kind of like the everyday
car red. Yep.
You know, I'll make you a deal. Red.
Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
I know exactly what you mean, but it's a 2.
Tone and it kind of looked like an Aztec and I was thinking about the first thing I thought was man, this is like when you pick up a a hot chick at the bar.
She looks pretty good and the next morning I'm like what what the hell is this That's kind of what I got with the car.
No soul incredibly high rated good gas mileage.
But there. I haven't looked this up but
there has to be an inversion. You would think there has to be,
you know, because this was like the bottom of the bottom, you know, up to 190 horsepower, which I laughed at when I looked it up, $25,000 car. But yeah, if you've ever seen a
Kona, they got these weird, like super thin lights on the back.
And I don't know if those are the actual tail lights or not because they have these other ugly lights, like right underneath it. Yeah, Yeah.
But you know, I kind of skipped past this thing with United.
So this this plane has these big screens on them, like big, probably 9 inches corner to corner.
It's got the two headphone jacks in case you want to share with someone sitting next to you. Got a USBC.
It's got a standard USB, It was decked out, and you don't even need the power outlet. That's like down underneath the
seats. And then they come by and they
go, do you want a stroopwafel, chocolate quinoa chips or pretzels? Not Southwest.
That beats the. Crackers the divvy out of
Southwest, yeah. Yeah, it beats anything.
Excuse me, The Divy out of Southwest Watched a couple movies. Have you seen Craven?
I have not. No.
I don't think Craven was Craven the Hunter.
I don't think it was reviewed very well, and I don't think people received it very well. It's not a bad movie, It's not
great, but it doesn't suck. Yeah.
How long ago did that come out? I.
Think Craven came out 24. OK.
Yeah, pretty. Pretty recent.
Yeah, I. Think it's AI, think it's a
middle 24 movie. It wasn't bad.
It wasn't great, but it like I said, it didn't suck.
So that was kind of my deal on the plane.
You know, on the way back I watched a movie called 3 Year Old Boys, which is a Asian movie.
Interesting. Bought some spotted cow.
Which have you ever had that I have?
Tried it one time and that's in Wisconsin.
Not in. Wisconsin though, no.
How did you? Get it 'cause that's a Wisconsin
only I feel I. Feel like it maybe I tried it in
Indiana or something, 'cause when I lived in the Midwest for a brief minute in 20/15/2014, I feel like maybe I had it somewhere up there. But I had, I had someone else
talking about that beer recently to me, but I knew.
Yeah, I know. It's a Wisconsin thing, yeah.
New Glaris, they don't. You they don't.
I mean, you could go there and buy it, Yeah.
You know, if you're a bar owner or something or buddy and they sell it at the airport. They don't.
They don't distribute outside of that though, correct?
Maybe, maybe I haven't. I'm probably thinking of
something else, but I have I have heard of this body cow 100% probably. Me last time talking about it
could. Very well be, I dangled.
In front of you and you chose to get the the Evan Williams.
I'm a bourbon guy. You know, I, I used to be a big
craft beer guy for a long time and kind of step back from beer in recent years. Yeah.
I mean, I still enjoy a good, good craft beer from time to time. I'm a I'm a more heavy guy, like
stouts, porters, that kind of thing.
Brown nails so if you're. Listening to this by heavy, he's
talking about the beer. He's not like obese or anything.
Not a not a fat guy, man. How's fatherhood?
You know, it's fun. Yeah, especially with a little,
a little a boy, you know, having a boy.
I would, I kind of went through that whole, you know, before you find out the sex, I'd be, you know, I'd be fine with having a daughter, that'd be fine with have a son.
But finding out that you're having a boy, I was stucked, you know is this. Like the steady girlfriend or
was this like an incident is a steady?
Girlfriend, you know, kind of early on in our dating, our dating cycle and we're actually, we're no longer together at this point, but Co parenting just fine.
You know, that's all going well and and dandy.
So yeah, just, you know, navigating that's a little bit of a unique situation. But beyond that, you know,
fatherhood's been been a great time and kind of been a natural.
I didn't think I'd be as natural at all, you know, going through all that and keeping somebody alive, you know, making sure he's fed, making sure diapers are changed, you know, handling stuff when he's sick. He's been, you know, running a
fever a couple times and you kind of freak out the first time. But then you kind of you kind of
roll with it and and you get to know your your kid, you know, know their signs. And then obviously he's he's
barely not even going to be he's about to be 1.
Doesn't communicate yet by words quite yet beyond Dada.
You know, of course he said that as his first word, if you want to call it that. But yeah, just getting learned
them is it's definitely a life altering experience to say the least. Yeah, I guess.
They say that it's just biologically easier for them to say like Dada and Papa then mommy, ma any of that stuff.
Yeah, it changes you doesn't it? Yeah, that's amazing.
And and you never know right 'cause I mean my son you know, his baby is 2 months old and going into this thing we're like he's never gonna have kids. He doesn't want him kids.
He's got dogs that he like half ass takes care of.
If he ever hears this he gonna be mad.
But anybody who knows and would agree with me, you know, not to say he doesn't love his dogs, but, you know, we're kind of looking at him like, dude, what's up?
But he's been, you know, incredible, you know, as a first time dad. And it's proud, proud moment,
you know, for me to sit back and watch it.
And he hasn't, this is kind of breaking news 'cause he hasn't directly told me this. I don't know what he's waiting
on, but he gave his daughter my last name too.
You know, he's he's my stepson, but like that it's on the birth certificate now, you know, that's awesome.
It's Frosto Finning and dude, that's amazing.
Like the the name lives on. Yeah, You know, because beyond
me, there are no other finnings in our in our family.
My brother doesn't have any kids.
He's never going to have them. So you know, wow, what a what a
freaking moment, man. Carry on the.
Legacy. That's that's a beautiful thing.
Cheers, the kids. You know any excuse I can give
myself to take another drink of this of this bourbon, kids.
United Airlines, You know, why not?
Yeah, Cheers of. That Yeah.
What else we got to cheers here. You know I have on here gate
check curse, OK. And so when you're traveling is
when you hit those puddle jumpers 'cause even you can't escape this. So he doesn't check bags.
You have to check it at the gate.
I have this feeling that the earlier you board, the longer you have to wait for your bag, right?
Because you have to drop it off. There's stuff in that way in the
back there's. Yeah, it's the first thing that
goes in and it's the last thing that comes off, you know, And that's what I that's what happened to me going from Chicago to Milwaukee. Yeah.
And I'm like, son of a bitch, man.
You know, I've been sitting on this plane, you know, all those little planes have delayed. So we're sitting on the tarmac
for an hour and it's a 20 minute flight.
Yeah, 22 minutes wait time is. Longer than the actual flight.
That's how it always works, yes. And then you get off and, you
know, you're standing there and, you know, it's like waiting to pick your kid up. You'll find out from school, you
know, once your kid gets released, you grab your kid and you leave, you know, and it's like, so you won't if you're in the middle, if you're near the back, you're going to get your shit first and you're going to go.
But it's kind of weird how they do that.
Yeah. Unless you're first class in a
in a normal plane, then they tag it differently as a different color or priority. It's a different color tag.
Everybody else gets the green tag or whatever other color tag.
It's kind of annoying and then also it seems like the TSA Pre chair you TSA pre I'm. Just getting into that too.
Same thing, new credit card, well hold.
On hold on all the years. Exactly.
So you travel and you haven't spent.
It's like 100 and. 20 bucks and you're good for like 6 years.
Call me lazy. I did, you know, I was a
travelling sales Rep for 10 years and I never once was TSA Pre. Now during that time I was a
Southwest guy during my business travel era.
And so a list at it. I mean that that got me by and
got me through fast enough to where I was like, you know, do I want to spend the money? Maybe, maybe not.
But now we're we're getting into that realm because part of that perk of my new credit card is Global Entry, which comes with TSA pre-check. So nice to have that.
I'm I'm headed to Italy in the summer for my youngest sister's wedding. So that was kind of a big
motivator to jump on this credit card deal because I had a nice offer. Same thing to do a lot.
Of global travel, do some. Global Travel.
So stepped it up a little bit, finally getting the TSA Pre-check game. I don't have Global Entry.
I'm not eligible. We'll just leave it at that.
But you know, I tried and got rejected Once Upon a time.
But that's good, if you leave the country, they don't do shit for you in the continental United States.
But yeah, you got to get on that TSA pre-check, man, that's such a lifesaver. And then with that, you can get
to the airport, you know, 12 minutes before.
I wouldn't say boarding 'cause you're kind of kind of close.
I have done that before and TSA pre-check saved my ass.
But lately seems like the TSA line pre-check line is longer.
I've noticed that in the regular.
And then the clear line, it's a racket, I think is the the get you in for the clear. I think it's like 100 bucks a
month or 100 bucks for a couple months or something.
Free for the first month. They're banking on you to forget
to cancel. Yep, classic.
Gym membership tax. Absolutely.
I mean, I have a gym membership and I don't think I've gone to the gym and despite what people think, I don't been to the gym in almost two years now. I have to.
Believe that Jay dude. I'm right here at this LA
Fitness, literally right on the other side of Higley in the in the highway, that that's my gym. I don't think I've been there in
two years. Yeah.
I can relate to that. I'm I'm a EOS member.
It's been a minute. It's right there.
Like, I could, yeah, if that neighborhood wasn't across this, you know, the Warner, I could see it from here.
So I got no excuses for that man, right?
But let's get into some car news.

Good job man. You know, I have a series of
videos here, but I think you've seen all over the news and you actually sent one to me earlier, which is funny as hell.
You know, there we have this, this craze that people are just tearing up these Teslas. I feel bad for all the owners,
you know, because they, I mean, at this point, the money's been spent, you know, that kind of thing is their property.
And people are, people are defacing that.
Yeah. And this.
One look at this, I mean, here's the thing with people, you don't understand this. Almost every Tesla model and
definitely every Tesla model now they have cameras on them.
Exactly. And people, this is what this
tells you. This tells you that people don't
really pay that much attention to social media.
Like this guy that we just watch.
He's he will. He looked at the freaking camera
and still, yeah, look at this lady.
You know, she's scratching up on it.
And then what's happening to these people, A lot of these idiots, you know, they're turning around and they're getting, you know, they're getting busted for it.
You know, I have this one called Fuck around and find out.
So this actually happened in 2023.
I remember this video. This lady lost her parking spot
downtown, so she decided to walk up and key the Tesla.
There she is right there with a :) she keys the shit out of this car because she's mad because she lost her parking spot all up on can. But you know how they caught
her? She was a few businesses down
eating lunch. Yeah.
Wow. Yeah, so.
The beginning of this video was like actually how it ended.
You know, the police showed up and they looked around and said look for this lady in this sun dress, you know, and it's a pretty. Specific dress too.
I mean she's not just wearing a solid.
Exactly. This is a newer one.
This guy this just happened. This is in Texas.
He Rams his four Wheeler. It's like a hobo 4 Wheeler and
this guy this so you can imagine the the fat jokes.
This looks like Grimace or Barney.
There's this heavy black dude dressed out in all purple and he's ramming the back of this the the cyber truck or the side of the cyber truck. And what is that haze on the on
the front? It's like a water bottle or it's
like a gallon of. Is that a gallon?
Of pee, I mean. Right.
It's yellow, it's SUS. Could be homeless.
Where did you get the four Wheeler?
I believe this guy was confronted and arrested.
So that's the thing. These people are getting
arrested within hours, sometimes days after they do this.
Exactly. I mean, you know, and 1:00.
Of the things that, you know, I think about when I watch these videos, I think this person is still at large.
So some of these people are smart enough they put these masks on. But anytime you see someone
wearing a mask in public now out in the middle of anywhere, you have to look at them. Kind of SUS.
Still a suspect. Yeah.
It's like, what are you doing? Like in the airport, it's fine.
You see it and and you first start seeing it at the airport.
It's a little curious, but it's like, OK, I understand close contact. That kind of thing.
And it was like. That before COVID, not with the
normal people, but like a lot of the Asian, yeah, Asian.
Tourists and things of that nature.
That was not an uncommon sight, yeah.
Now people do it and you're just like, and this, this lady in this video, she tries to do a smooth.
You see that? Oh yeah, yeah, she's tried to
really smooth. You guys are going to want to
watch this on the YouTube because we're kind of going through this guy, what he does. He kind of scopes and peeps the
scene and then he gets his face all up in the camera as he digs.
He's playing some pocket pool. Look at this guy.
And there's the thing. None of these people because the
narrative is OK, it's some whacked out, you know, trans person with, you know, crazy hair because those are the people doing some, some of the worst stuff.
But these are just normal people.
Yeah, yeah. And OK, here's this is the one
that's in Las Vegas last week. Someone set it, I think this is
a Tesla repair facility. And they set an entire row of
Tesla's on fire. One guy tried to set a Tesla on
fire and he caught himself on fire with a Molotov cocktail.
There's one of three people that got arrested.
But here's the thing because here's a couple kids are doing this. So one thing I've been reading
on social media, and This is why I still have an X account because you don't see this on normal stuff.
And these people are getting busted for shit that they're doing on X because they go look at this person.
Usually Libs of Tiktok would do it, which is funny, Libs of Tiktok on X, but they'll out this person and within hours are cut. It's the power of social media.
So whether you think it's, you know, fake news or not, there's you have to, you have to know how to kind of filter through this stuff. Oh, yeah.
But one thing I say is because a lot of people say, well, now that it's considered domestic terrorism, you know, it's convenient now, but it wasn't commit domestic terrorism on January 6 people or domestic terrorism when you have the mass shooters. And the thing that I have to say
about that and this, I guess this is kind of controversial because I don't, So my wife calls me and I've said this before, she thinks I'm a die hard Trumper.
It's like, no, I'm not a die hard Trumper.
I'm just not for the other person because that other person's I saw nothing and I saw nothing from that campaign.
I'm a moderate, technically a left-leaning moderate, but the type of people who do this to cars, to dealerships, you know, that's a special type of person, that's a low hanging fruit.
That's the same type of person that would storm the capital like normal people don't do that shit and they're all low hanging fruit and. It's even some of these guys
that were, you know, doing this to Rivians, like, they don't even know what, you know, what a Tesla looks like.
Yeah. There's a lot of videos now
where people are uploading and someone I saw a back of like a Tesla, a Model S or whatever, and they had Civic on there, like Honda Civic, and they had a Honda logo, although their license plate frame still said Tesla.
It was like, guys, you missed an important detail.
I've seen the cyber trucks or the big Toyota thing on the back of them. I've seen that too.
You know and. It's just, I saw another video
where the lady keyed the shit out of a car and it was a Rivian because she thought it was a Tesla.
And then you see videos of people in Canada that are doing this and it's like they're getting confronted, say, hey, why are you doing this? They go, well, because you know,
it's a Nazi because Tesla bad. Like, yeah, but why are you
doing this? You don't even make.
Here's the thing, Tesla, it's an S&P 500 stock, all made in the United States. So every time you fuck up a
Tesla or you root for Tesla's demise, everybody with a four O 1K has Tesla. So you know, when Tim Waltz, you
know, the lovely guy that almost was our vice president, you know, when he got up there and he celebrated Tesla stock going down and he got a lot of backlash and then he came back and said, oh, just kidding. You guys take it so serious.
Like dude. Why even utter the, you know,
the rooting for a a company, American companies to fail?
You know, yeah, that's that's anti American people don't even realize it. That's how dumb people are.
Yeah, they're. Yeah, missing, misinformed and
just they're missing the whole. And I, I, I feel like I say this
every freaking episode. I don't have a Tesla.
I don't really, I've never really liked Teslas that much.
I think Elon Musk is very innovative.
He's kind of weird, quirky. He's very quirky.
He's on, he's on the spectrum a little bit, a little bit on spectrum, which is fine. So I'm not a fan, a personal fan
of his, but I don't have any malice.
But this comes from people like, OK, well you're doing doge waste, fraud and abuse. We're going to ruin this crap.
He owns 12.8% of Tesla stock. The people own everything else.
Yep. So you can burn these things,
you can burn the dealerships, you can burn the, the, the charging ports. It doesn't affect him at all.
It just effects you and somebody, some innocent person.
Yeah, the owner of that Tesla that you you keyed or is it on fire or whatever? I think I.
Saw kind of the meme where it's like only only President Trump can make the die hard left hate Tesla right?
Well, I've seen the memes and jokes online of, you know, you know, a year or two ago, it was like, we want you, you know, buy a Tesla. You know, we're left.
We want to be green. And now it's like destroyed
Tesla, you know? Yeah.
It's just like, well, you know, what are we doing?
Hyundai has unveiled a $21 billion investment in the United States to counter tariffs. I saw.
This on some of the finance podcasts I give a listen to on the daily. You know what do?
People have to say about that, you know, I, I didn't click play. I have a friend who they have a
podcast. They've been on mine, you know,
RTWJ podcast, great guys die hard left.
One of the one of them. The other one's kind of more
moderate in my opinion. He's left too, but he's more
modern thought independent thinking.
The other one's just like off the hinges.
But the title of their most recent podcast episode.
And I'm actually going to pull it up right here without hitting play. And I try to listen to them just
to kind of balance out. It's good to have a scope of a
broader scope of everything instead of just living in the bubble or the echo chamber. Yeah, because.
The algorithms are built on confirmation bias, you know.
You don't really, the more stuff, the more opinions that of the opposite of what you have, you skip or block or mute, the less you're going to see that. And that's just the algorithm.
So you want to have that counter and they're like the strongest counter possible, but they're more they live in California.
That's the first problem, right? So it's it's already skewed as
it is, but their perception is a reality.
And I get it. It's California.
You're already kind of fucked. Did you live in a shitty ass
state? Beautiful state.
Beautiful state, absolutely, but otherwise with.
Other problems galore beyond the scenery but their.
Latest 1 and I, I will probably listen to it at some point.
I forced myself to. And then I send these long voice
notes to one of them and he sends voice notes back.
We have a good relationship. I think, you know, he's a great
guy. They're both cool.
But one said if you voted for Trump, like you hear so many times, don't ever talk to me again.
When we're friends, I'm just like, OK, cool.
And that's. Unfortunate because I feel like
very unfortunate. It's less common from the other
side of view. I mean, like, you know, I've got
a lot of friends that I don't, you know, maybe agree with everything they agree with politically, but that doesn't mean I'm going to sit there and say, hey, don't talk to me.
Don't you know we can't be friends?
Right. And it's just like what?
But it's called Americans economy and institutions are crumbling. Nothing could be further from
the truth, right? And I'm a moderate left saying
this, but nothing could be further from the truth.
But, you know, your perception is reality.
So in this case, Hyundai unveils $21 billion expansion as tariffs loom. And in the last episode, it said
that Honda has committed to building the next generation Honda Civic in Indiana to avoid the tariffs.
More jobs bring it home. It's also stating that
Stalantis, Volkswagen, Honda, Nissan and Rolls Royce and Volvo have also committed to doing things.
I don't know what those numbers are.
We're technically 60 days into this administration.
You have to give it time, things time, right?
It's like the cost of eggs is now down.
But that has nothing to do, has nothing to do with Biden.
I mean, sure, he he killed all those birds, those, those chickens for the bird flu and whatever else.
But it's just like gas. That has less to do with the
president than 500 other factors.
When people were like, hey, I want the gas to go down, Gas under Biden was this, gas under Trump was this.
I'm just, I'm like, dude, whatever you know, has nothing to do with it. Not.
Directly not. Directly, yeah.
So this is over the course. It says here the plan includes a
$5.8 billion steel plant in Louisiana create more than 1400
jobs. And I think this is just
Louisiana, Alabama and Georgia, 9 billion of booster furnace production. 1.2 million vehicles by the year of 2028.
There's a lot of other, I think Taiwan unrelated to the car industry for those microchips. I think that's happening here in
Arizona. That's from what I understand.
Yeah. And this is what happens.
It's just this game. So it's like you have to wait
and see. We don't know.
But you know, you can't get on Hinge and get out there and start breaking shit, you know. And I think I was listening to
Corolla and there's some about the price of eggs.
And even at their height it still came down like $0.43 an
egg. So you can have two eggs for
breakfast for less than a dollar.
I would take that. Nowhere else can you get AAI
mean that's each egg has what, 7 grams of protein?
I think 7 or 8 grams of protein. You have your healthy fats from
the yolk now. You shouldn't have more than I
think I read this years ago because of cholesterol.
You shouldn't have more than maybe two yolks per week.
But half the time when I'm eating egg whites, I might eat the yolk. Today I had two eggs and their
yolks. But usually I throw the yolk
away. I just do.
Yeah. I don't think it's gross.
I just remember that. Yeah.
The. Cholesterol.
The cholesterol. So, and I know cholesterol's,
they say it's hereditary anyway, but yeah, I don't know.
But to me this shows progress. Absolutely.
I mean, it's to see companies that are responding to that.
I mean that to me, that speaks a lot.
You mentioned you were thinking about, you know, switching cars around the Integra Type S Any reason why the Integra Type S instead of the FL 5 Civic to me? I mean personally for me it's
kind of two things is personally for me.
I've always been an Acura guy. I've owned 2T LS since I was in
my first TL. Was an O3 base at a high school
that was my dad's car. Bought it off him my senior
year. First cool car I ever owned, but
for me between, you know, FL 5 versus Integra type S, you know, Integra type SA little more nice creature comfort wise.
I mean, from my understanding, and I've been watching reviews at the wazoo on YouTube on these cars.
You know, the biggest thing is civic type RI mean that's that's a very much more track tailored vehicle and a lot, you know, in terms of ride comfort, in terms of seat comfort, things like that. The Integra's kind of a little
bit. Of a, you know?
Yeah. And that's kind.
Of what I I guess somewhat weighs into my decision is this got to be something practical. I'm not looking to like
necessarily get a full track ready, you know, go full Civic Type R I'm looking for something that you know, is more livable on a day-to-day basis, but still fun.
How's the used market on those things because I mean you got to be, I'm assuming you would buy a gently used that's kind?
Of what I've been keeping an eye on is kind of what does the used market look like on the Type S? And those seem to be coming down
a little bit because I kind of feel like that Type S lives in an interesting space of I mean, it's an enthusiast car, but I don't think it garnered as much of that umph as like, you know, as other Halo view. I mean even the Civic type part
of me kind of has more of a a cult following.
It's the price point, I think when you're buying brand new, yeah, I mean you're. Talking mid 50s right on that
type S that's pretty. That's pretty up there.
What are they looking at? Like now if I wanted from what
you've seen, if I wanted a used 20/20/24 was it 20?
24, I think, I think it was Tenley 24 that meant I think they came out in 23 though, right, OK.
So if I wanted a 24 used Type S with, I don't know, 30,000 miles on it, I assume they're out there there's so I.
Mean that's that's a little higher on the mileage spectrum that I've seen. Like on Auto Trader I've seen
I've seen stuff 20,000 miles and below anywhere between I've seen the lowest I've seen and this was for like a sub 10,000 mile car. And I think this also plays into
what market it's in. But I've seen one for as low as
37 five on Auto Trader with a sub 10K.
That's pretty good, you know. But most of them out there
you're talking mid 40s like I'd say 45 to 47 pre owned.
And what about? And you, have you even looked at
the FL fives in the used market? I haven't.
Really, I need to I probably honestly, you know it it that is somewhat on my radar in terms of what you.
Get. I'm a more subtle guy, so I
don't, I wouldn't do like the bright blue or anything like that. Beautiful color, Championship
white. I dig that.
It's crisp, it's clean, you got to go.
Championship. Wait, I have a friend who bought
a used FL 5A Gray 1 and I think you got it for a pretty good deal out of New Mexico. Albuquerque.
Yeah, because those I mean new MSRP sub 50K, right.
I mean, still I think it's 40, seven, $48,000 so, but you got to count. That dealer markup, yeah, and.
That's. 20 I think is what they used to be.
I don't know. Are we still doing markups?
I don't look at cars. I've seen a couple.
Pop up like on Facebook Marketplace like you got these sales guys from different dealers that will throw up a civic type R that they got a new inventory.
And what they throw up on that Facebook marketplace is just I mean, they're not throwing up their marked up price, They're throwing. I mean, I've seen get 4748 grand
on some of those Type Rs. But yeah, I haven't really, I
haven't not peeked at the pre owned on those specifically as of yet. You said it's on my radar, but
I've been I've been either kind of going either the top of the spectrum again, Type S or maybe going more, you know, Civic SI.
Kind of the attraction there is, you know, kind of I look at it as lower cost of maintenance on that car.
You know, you don't have the adjustable dampers, you don't have a lot of Brembo brakes, you know, components that are going to be a little more costly to maintain over time.
Still got the fondness of, you know, your 6 speed gearbox from a Honda. I mean they they do it probably
better than anybody else, to be honest.
I love a Honda gearbox, always have, probably always will.
So I mean the thing that's the downside on that SI would be your power trade off there versus the type R or type S.
And so that's kind of a consideration there is if, if I'm getting in there, I don't think.
It's it's significant. It's like, I mean, I think the,
the type of SI those are rated I think just over 200 horsepower and with the type, type S is probably like 3:15, 3/20.
Yeah, I think it's 3:20 and then they have that version they that HPD, yeah. The.
Yellow one, yeah, I see. I don't think it's officially
been announced as far as they're actually going to sell it how much, but I know that supposed to come out the other thing I'm.
I'm curious to see is what kind of accurate does with that vehicle going forward in terms of kind of innovating it or how long of a generation is this? Is this chassis gonna run?
That's a sweet. Car.
But you can't, you can't have the kid in it cause I've seen the back seat and it's full carbon fiber and it's not really a seat. Yeah, it's there, but I don't
remember if it's even belted in the back.
Probably not. In that car, yeah, it's.
Just it's the same car with weight savings and that's kind.
Of the kind of the other consideration, I mean, not that it's a huge deal and not that you want to cram 5 passengers in a smaller vehicle like that, but the SI has, you know, 3 rear seatbelts in the back seat. The Type R Type S just have,
it's a four seater, you know, bait for weight and all that stuff. So, you know, but I do love the
hatchback design of both those, you know, both the Type R Type SI mean the practicality of that alone is pretty sweet.
Have you? Spent a lot of time on Facebook
Marketplace. Almost daily.
I spent a lot of time on there lately and I don't search for anything. I just hit the marketplace and
start scrolling. Yeah, man, there's some crazy
shit on there and there's some crazy, crazy deal.
Oh yeah, I've seen stuff where I'm like, maybe I should sell my Infiniti and get this. You know, there's there's four
runners. You can get 2003 four runners
for like 7 grand. Yeah, and sure, they have
280,000 miles on it, but who freaking cares?
It's a forerunner. It's a forerunner.
Have you driven a 4 runner recently?
I have. A newer 1 like. 2020 newer I
have. Yeah, I had a couple rentals
recently within the last four months.
Are they? Are they better?
Because I I drove one in 2020 and I forgot.
I mean, it's built on a truck platform and it feels like a truck. I mean, I know, but it's not.
I'm used to SUVI like SUVSI like nice stuff.
Yeah, I like the leather, the nice suspension.
I like all the nice updated electronics.
You know, when I drove one in 2020 it looked cool.
I was like, this thing doesn't even have car play.
My hot take on the like the modern day foreigner pre latest redesign on those, you know, pre new Gen. is like for being an
ancient vehicle. I mean that platform really
hadn't changed in I mean over a decade, you know, in terms of powertrain and everything else. But it didn't have a lot of the
creature comfort stuff like even like the trim I've I've rented in the recent months was an SR5, didn't even have automatic headlights. So just little stuff like that.
Did it have a? Tangible key or did you just hit
a button still it? Still had a remote key, so push
to start. So I mean, it did have monitor
stuff like that. This one did have car play, you
know, updated infotainment. So that was certainly a step in
the right direction. But just little stuff like
again, automatic lights and just those little things that you'd expect for, you know, the price tag on these I think is over 50,000. They're very expensive.
So. I would expect to have some more
creature comforts if you're talking in that price range.
Yeah, you're paying for Toyota reliability, but how much is that really worth, right? Especially when you get a 2003
or 2006 for under 10 exactly. Yeah.
And I think. I think I'm gonna I might do
that I'm gonna research the hell out of them see, 'cause they, they have to have a ton of aftermarket support and like, can I do the conversion? Can I have the flip up?
You know, 'cause there's so much everything has car play now.
Hey, if you could find. The V8, those back in those,
yeah. There's a few of the V eights.
It's it's funny because my thought is can I tow the NSXI don't own a trailer. There's maybe one event a year I
would even think about it. So it's I laugh at myself for
even caring about it. I always look at the towing
capacity of everything. You know, you can get a what's
the, what's the truck Tacoma. You know, Tacoma can do more
weirdly than a Forerunner. But you know, do I want a
Tacoma? Do I want the, the big cab, King
cab, right. That's what it is.
I don't know, you know, I just don't know.
But I've been thinking about because of Facebook Marketplace.
I mean, I've seen T like your old Acura, I've seen TLS on there like 2003 TLS. I'm like, damn, how much I keep,
I keep. Tabs and all that, like, you
know, even that Gen., you know, O3 CL type S6 speed, I mean,
those are and those are hard yeah, I.
Saw white CL on there recently, yeah.
There was a red, I have a couple buddies of mine that we're always trading DMS on that stuff, you know, Facebook market plant. I mean I I recently ran across I
mean deviated from some JDM stuff stuff but like a 97 Ford Explorer 2 door 5 speed manual clean sub 70,000 miles on this.
Is it a Ford? Explorer.
Ford Explorer. But the two door, not the four
door version. And those are, I mean you, you
never see those two doors anymore.
And if you do, they're pretty clapped out.
But. That's the.
That's the generation of the explorer that aren't they famously known for just rolling over?
That was the. Whole I think there was a
Firestone scandal, wasn't it? Or something like that with the
tires. I thought it was because.
The center of balance, I think. Those.
Exploders, I think I. Think it was like 2 things.
I think the something about the tires.
But yeah, the center of gravity was really high and so they had more of a susceptibility of rolling over.
But again, it's just like me looking at the towing capacity.
You know what, what, what situation are you going to be in where you have to crank that wheel so hard?
You know, because any SUEI was in.
I'd be worried about that. Except for the one I have right
now. Yeah, that.
That FX is yeah 'cause I mean. That's a it's, it's a sports
car. It's just a bigger car.
I don't know. We'll see.
But let's go ahead and wrap this episode up.
