Made Shea sitting inside a car, so I think that's some real car talk going on right now. Currently mr.
Prince, how's everyone doing? Very good guy pretty well.
Thank you. Good to hear.
Good to hear mr. David princes in another part of
the world. Yes I should have.
I should have mentioned like, hey look like from Scotland relief, caught on tape. It's you need subtitles.
My accent. You know, is coming along really
well. So you need to have a bit of an
accent to be understand understood here.
But no, no, it's it's been great so far.
Little bit of Blue Sky out the window.
You can just sort of see that but that's all you can for the whole trip David. Now let's add some cool.
People say that the summer, in Scotland is a lovely day but it's spring. So So we're not there yet.
We've got nothing to complain about well, but but clear.
So that's good. So David like do they have
issues? He understanding you?
Like, we have issues understanding them, or is it?
Or is it just like a damn thing? No, they they sort of, I suppose
I've got more of an English accent compared to an Aussie accent in some ways. So I haven't had anyone not
understand what I'm saying. I find myself saying today a lot
because that sort of, that sort of Defies you pretty quickly.
Well, one of the one of the loves of my life, as people that know me, well, will know his coffee and coming from Melbourne. Going anywhere else in the
world, I found from experience is quite stressful for from the caffeine point of view and we were in a little shop in muscle, bro. The other day, where my daughter
and son-in-law lemon, Sean. So if you're listening high or
I'll can say, how do you even because rent boy, they the girl came up to our table and she said okey-dokey what Are you having? I was just like oh that's it.
I'll have a Milburn, long black, cold milk on the side.
Please double shot. No problem at all, as like, a
fantastic. So we're going back there today.
As soon as I'm off the podcast, this morning's coffee with me. -
are we just provided? You do wear a red coat?
You should be fine in. That's right, that's exactly
right. That's your accent.
But I'm glad to see you having a good day and good time so far.
We'll catch up with catch up with you in.
A second in terms of like how the triple going and it was stuff that you've seen. Alan, how are you troubling my
friend? Well, last we go, got rather
sick. So I missed the show
unfortunately, but I'm Annie Lee back to 100%.
So that's what I thought I'd do. My best counters to you.
You hold down the fort and how you get he sitting in the dark, in a car. Yep, good good had quite the
interesting day, but yeah, I'll explain that in my car updates very shortly. Very, very shortly.
But anyway, mr. David Prince update with uni.
Yeah. Obviously as a user, imagine you
are in Scotland, I'm just putting that house.
How was your flight? How's everything going so far?
Interesting corollary things that you've done, which we had a chat. Obviously, we kept in touch and
on the chat and stuff. If you've done some really cool
things, heal Us in on your trip so far and let us know what we should do if we going there. Okay, learn how to sleep on a
plane's, a great idea. That's the first thing I'd
probably recommend working on that I must know.
It's a jolly on way. I've got to say and I'll be we
added to it a little bit with you.
As you can fly into Scotland, we flew into Manchester.
So, that's a bit about three and a half hours by train south of we have N Brew where we are. So we actually worked out
through the haze of jet lag. And what time is it?
What country am I in from being picked up at home, to take the airport to actually arrive in the station.
In Edinburgh was 38 hours, so it was 24 hours in sort of relearn a bit more that bad 28 hours in real time.
And then beer, check him over 10 on.
So it was, it was pretty full-on, but certainly worth getting here. I mean, travel travelling is
great. I mean, it opens open so many
doors and opens your eyes, to Many things, but especially when this family on the other side of the world, that's one of the main reasons for doing it. Absolutely absolutely.
So, Car Wise, what have I done? I've got the use of Sean's car,
which is very kind for, some of the days over here.
It's a bit different in that you have to ensure the person driving your car. So he's actually had to pay to
put me on the insurance. It's not like you can just
borrow someone's car, and it's actually insured for them to drive. I know some people with high
performance cars than that. You know, it's only only insured
for them to drive but most comprehensive policies, policies. I think in Australia give you
the right to letter level drives their car.
You might there might be different access if there's a claim involved or something like that, but overhear you actually got to pay whoever's driving the car if it's not you.
So that's that was an interesting thing.
He's got a Kia, proceed GT, which is a very nice little car.
I'd never driven one before. I don't know if it's the fact
that the Graphically where I am, but it feels really Euro.
And obviously, they're actually made in.
I think they're made in or gosh, Melissa.
I'm will be cross with me. I did see the Slovenia or
Slovakia. So, Kira, got a huge
manufacturing facility over there.
So it actually feels very Euro to drive, especially in the weighting of the steering. And the indicators on the, on
the left side of the steering column, that sort of thing.
So, driving in another country. You know, you sort of, hopefully
got some grasp of the road. Rules here, just mind your p's
and q's. You've got incredible
roundabouts over here with, you know, four five six and seven exits so that can get a bit crazy at time.
One great thing that they do which I've I've only just seen sort of starting to creep in with some of the bigger intersections in roundabouts in Australia is actually write the laying you meant to be. You liked it for the exit Lane
on the road. So you can actually pick your
lane as you're going into the roundabout by the by the road.
You want to leave it. Which tends confusing, but it
actually makes a lot of sense when you're actually on the road. I mean, obviously there's good
signage but also painting it on the road, as you coming into the intersection, you know, we'd sort of laying you meant to be in and a lot of the bigger roundabouts are actually still controlled by traffic lights, which works really well.
So and interestingly everyone sits on 75, 80 miles an hour on the freeway on the expressways and it all just works, you know?
It was some back, had a great. Run up to done field, which is
in the lower Highlands in Perth shh.
The last couple of days and miss out on the freeway 75.
Any problems from miles an hour, no problem at all.
There's very very few speed cameras in Ireland in Scotland evidently Shawarma saying so and and if people are doing the right thing everyone stays in the left if they're not overtaking, its seems to work pretty.
Well makes a bit of a difference.
So, so well, do when you say you're all set?
75 80 miles? Is this a 60 mile an hour speed?
Limit of 70? Miles below, 70 mile an hour.
Okay, what's up? 112.
A hundred hundred and twelve that key doesn't even have a km km, an hour indicator. So yeah.
But it would be about that. Yes, yeah.
Do you promise it's done? 100 120 125 up around 80 miles
an hour on to say. And yet they say the human
freeway can't do 130. I know, I know it what really
makes a mockery that when you look at the distances that we've got a travel on that debt, freeways incredible but you know what? So yeah.
Yeah. 110 the cars barely idling on it, on those roads.
But yes, that was a good day. One of the things I planned
before we actually came away, I wanted to do something Scottish and I wanted to do something car-related.
So I found the Land Rover experience, it done killed.
So she paying a certain amount of money and they give you the keys to a brand new Land Rover or Discovery or there was a Vogue, there was a couple of sports or brand-new.
And then I take you out in the morning and show you what they can do, basically, and then in the afternoon, they give you a lunch. And then there's about 100.
And I think he said about 180 miles of tracks on on a private estate, not far away. So I'll send you a few more
videos through. But yeah, we went up roads that
you would not think we're actually roads really, though more like stringing, some of them, there's a couple of rocks, scrambles and that sort of Thing I did come away with a newfound, respect for electronics. It's the when they're working.
They work very, very, very well. You think you mentioned that in
the afternoon? I think going to say that's the
point where the electronics all broke and so we had to have no, no we nothing broke. All the cars.
Got back there. Probably probably seven or eight
in the morning and you can do a half-day session, or a full day session. So the fact that half days just
showing you They can do in, you will have a turn doing different things and it shows you all about.
Now, kill descent control and the different programs that got a mutts program. They've got a grass, grass,
gravel and sand function mode, it'll all selectable just by a button, but we're in a new discovery 3, tons worth of car and up an incline, which was just on 40 degrees.
So you are literally sitting back in your seat and staring at the sky and And can't see where you're going aside from little camera. That's in the front bumper bar,
and a camera in each mirror, that shows you what the front wheels are doing at school. Which for the sort of that we
were doing this. It was just incredible but as
you all know saying on the way home compared to the old days of having a GQ Patrol or a Suzuki Jimny where you actually you're doing it, it's a bit like flying on autopilot because you just program the car and especially with Hill descent control.
This thing will Repeat scroll down, literally one or two, miles an hour down in an incredibly steep incline.
Absolutely no. Problem at all.
The all the electronics in the car, we'll just monitor the speed of each wheel like 100 times a second or something like that. And and and you just basically
stepped out some of the graphics on the on the screen in the middle of an incredible, they show you the Locking and unlocking of the deaths. They we actually went through a
water through a poem. 'And they drove through a pond
basically. In this, you know, Discovery,
everything against you said, I don't think this is a good idea.
The instructor said just stop in the middle and the graphic on the car, actually shows you where the water level is on the outside of the car and how far you can go.
So, I mean, yeah. So I mean, it shows you how deep
you are and you know, the water levels, just just gently sort of rocking away in the image. It's just incredible to shows,
it's just brilliant. So when they work their
incredible, but when they don't work, they miserable absolutely.
So, you know, very gently. I mean and interestingly this
guy drives a Volvo the instructor.
Start interesting thing in itself but he said look, he said these are brilliant cars and he said, you know, fit for purpose.
Now when they're, you know, functioning find that there are wonderful, obviously they deal with mostly new ones, it's a couple of little things on the days.
Open shouldn't Yeah, and then cooked again and engaged whatever he needed to engage. But but yeah, I mean, when their
work when it's working fine, it's just absolutely incredible with King was like a mountain goat, the way it will get up this rock scramble and and and forwarding these Creeks.
We were right up on the top of the side of the mountain and the views were just incredible. And they do it all year.
Round is only as only four days a year, they're closed.
And so they're doing through a snow and ice and And I was very politely, he said I know these cars in Australia have a bit of a reputation for reliability and he said well he said jro horn so JRA did that's the Australian a Jaguar Rover.
Is it do acknowledge. They do have some reliability
issues but they're working on it.
That's the official line out of the out of 20.
There was some Poland. The 17th most reliable, like
least, reliable car out of 20 or something.
We surveyed. So he said that, you know, where
everybody is aware of that. But he said, if you give a good
one, he said they are brilliant. He said, if you get a bad one,
he said, they're not that way. So which is a shame, you know, I
mean, you wonder if they're still owned by tartar, which is a brand, very dear to Helms hard, it's taken back in her.
Basically bring it back. We used to be the, The
Underdogs, and now we're running some of the British Empire sir.
It's a very good job looking after it, but I'm sure we can say that. It just really annoys me.
I think it's like a cool brand. So I mean you hear of the the
and reliable ones that give you a problem.
People are going to tell you they're probably going to tell 50 people. You know anyone they can they
can talk about the ones that don't give you any problem.
They're not going to tell you how fantastic that you know, like they just assume that that's how they should be.
So, you know, there's a skewing of, I mean, stop without reason, of course, not without cause, but there is a skewing.
I think the minute you have a problem with anything.
You go and tell far more people than You will when you're not having a problem with them something but I fully agree.
Matt. I mean I really love them to be
bulletproof and they they look the part they I was we did actually get the choice of which car we could choose yesterday and eifert. Let learned later that you
don't, you know, you if you don't ask you don't get sort of things. So I didn't know how that was
all done at the time, but the discovery was fantastic.
We got Drive down the road to sort of across to the local estate and stuff. So that was fantastic.
There's some beautiful little Lanes but my goodness, it's a big car on these little little Scottish roads.
And the heft of the car yard, there's no disguising that at all. So it was a big, big chunk of
car on the road. But, but yeah, very smooth had
the 3 liter in GM diesel and yeah.
Pretty pretty fantastic. So, really good day.
I think you made it. That's the V6 turbo diesel.
Right. That's right.
Yes. Yeah, yeah.
That's the same one. That's kind of comes out in the
new Ford Ranger, if I'm, if I'm not mistaken, okay?
Yeah. Yeah, fingers crossed that
they're reliable. Absolutely my brother just as
well and looks to be there. Can you guys like parallel
parking in a parallel parking? Priest.
No no that's the city street and going through a Charizard home, you know picking up the kids from school you know in the yeah Hillary suburbs you know driving through Hawthorne on tram tracks and no they did not. No no real life experiences to
kind of mix along their opportunity.
He s Turnin box for. Yeah, to round it out.
You know what? See, I know you know,
experienced the same things in the vast instead of Scotland but these cars are sold in Australia.
So I think it should be a Global Experience.
Exactly. Can you hear us now?
I can hear you now. I didn't turn on the audio,
couldn't find it. My my laptop's the battery went
dead on it so it wouldn't turn on.
So I didn't know to pass code for Deb's, iPad.
And then when I got into the iPad, Find with ODI button was.
Anyway, I'm here is that was just telling us about his time in Scotland so far. Neither, did I Land Rover
experience where they surprisingly?
Nothing broke down, the probably nothing.
It wasn't a nice man inside. So, so yeah, we'll finish with
your I don't David. I'm so so apart from that, well,
I'll see you in up to their judgment or is that too much?
It all we've only been here about ever since Last only a week. Now if that was supposed when
you look at it, some really lots of stuff that we don't see in Australia, lots of high-end days and key is that we don't get that. I have noticed.
In fact, I think I said I put on Facebook these big fat goals that we don't get either. They they just look like a golf
that's been over indulging and now since bad at that they called it Golf Plus. So they're like a cross between
an SUV, they just look like it. You sold your tip that will take
thinking that looks a bit you know bit chunky.
But yeah that's what they are evidently.
I'm looking at my Xavier of golf.
Exactly. Exactly desperately.
Good at describing it. Not a lot of all this stuff but
in Scotland that the climate, so harsh that everything just rust away, some of the rust things are, you know, the The panel's Rusted away on cars I've seen as following a Lexus RX350.
So, you know, Probably a 10 year old one, and the rust around the tailgate, and the rear window was just nuts.
You know, it was fuck in Australia.
We just go, yeah. Now, that's how it will check
that one away. But over here there's still a
moat heed and as long as the rust isn't structural if it's a panel it can have a hole in it but here it's it's a it lot of electric cars. Obviously I've seen all the all
the ID vw's lots of Opals and And voxels electric.
Like a strobe asterism electric, golf's not a lot of Japanese step up or when I said that plenty of others, because, of course, I built in the UK until not long ago.
Very keen on their diesels, they were over here.
So they've got diesel CRVs and Diesel siblings, which we got for about 5 minutes in Australia.
But but yes, I'm really looking forward to exploring a few more Country. Roads, we picking up another
whipping up, a rental car, for five of us.
Us on Saturday and heading across to the West Coast.
So I'll be interested to see what I get, it'll probably be manual. I've ordered like a caddy like
my work caddy because I know the size of them over here if you order a medium sized car, you end up with a golf and or in both Vauxhall Astra. So we needed something with some
space. So I've gone up a size but
hopefully, I don't end up with a well, I don't know.
Don't know whenever I've had hired a car over here I've never ended up with what I actually booked so it's always the equivalent. And then they then they say we
got a free upgrade you into something miserable and that's usually what they do, allow somebody to do that for that.
The last time I did that for the Hyundai, Santa Fe auto tone Auto, I've got a beer wagon and I end up with this plaintiff a manual which was a ripping thing.
It was it was the diesel. Manuel and yeah it was so
economical and took us all over Scotland last time.
So we'll see. We'll see quick question.
David R is this the car still predominantly like them standard cars. Still probably coming in manual
there. Yes, have you seen switch to
dsg's and whatnot? Look, there are automatic system
will far rarer than manuals. A lot of the biggest stuff.
Now, there was something Shawn was telling me about this week, that only come in a manual now, so, Automatic, I can't remember what it was, but obviously, the electric stuffs, all automatic or not, even automatic doesn't begin boxes.
It just has a button, so, yeah, but still nearly everything.
You see is what you walk down the street and have 20 cars in a line one or two might be automatic.
That is so cool. Yeah, lots of manual being,
there's lots of manual Jags. They do an X Type wagon.
To which are getting a bit long in the tooth and probably Rusty.
Now, anyway over here, but X-Type wagon.
And imagine that would be a cool little thing I would have thought four-wheel drive. Yeah, so it's interesting what
they usually. If you end up now with a with
ordering an auto, after a rental car, you end up with Mercedes.
But what's your self? Yeah.
You had a Mercedes rental over there, didn't you?
I did. Yeah.
Wagon actually this fantastic like oh yeah.
Yeah, c200 wagon. I think.
Was it 200? Yeah, or do anything that we
struggled with was to change and navigation from German to English? Because Harley Petty, c200, at
the time he knew how to navigate through the menus enough to get expecting to the language settings to.
Yeah. Okay.
So that was the only difficult thing about it is to set it into English. Apart from that, the car was
great. It's good on fuel, but it was
Stat it to 20 on auto Barnett was as fast as you can go.
Well, that's disappointing. Yeah, I know the fuel gauge is
going down as quick as it was gone up.
Yeah, we drove around and about 5,000 kilometers from Stuttgart all the way through the germ denim unique down to.
Eight through Sylvania down to Italy from Italy across the Barcelona and then back to France and drop the car off from France in Paris. Fantastic.
Yeah. So yeah that's what.
Yeah. Flawless and there's no issues.
Yeah, it was great. That's good.
Alum updates with you currently on mine this room very little going on my sister on the other hand.
She's listed her. Let's say, I'm a bit of a
windfall and is now on the market for a new car and she's had her eye on a golf R because I don't know if she's weirdly possessed with that car and you know, we're doing our best to talk her out of it because there's plenty of other good cars. You could buy if you need a
performance car. But there's also, you know,
given the fact that she may or may not be looking to start a family in the next coming years, possibly kind of a little more equipped to, you know, handle a small But she's decided that no, she is the boss of the gifted money that she's receiving.
So she's going to buy a golfer and hilariously as a twist of fate. The dealers were taking the
audience, that's annoying. They claim.
There's a bit of a backlog and so they're not taking any orders at the moment. I tried to get her to juguete
Leon Cupra because you know I think the more we looking at, came to the tomb, r21 kilowatt engine, it was fouled, I'm not all drive like the golfer, but apart from that, I mean the looks of the Liana Cooper is I'd say pretty damn good and we really unique and she gettin worried about three weeks That's okay. Yeah, because the available I
think it was a my20 to model year, so they probably already ready to go. Just need to be shipped from
wherever. But I'd say, you know, given
that else about 10 grand cheaper than the golf as well.
But pretty good value proposition if you want something that's, you know, you're fast.
It's got the same basic engine and same, you know, transmission. So you're getting virtually a
similar cards, just you don't get the old roller.
Imagine she needs the old Drive. Should not be driving Spirit of
leak that much but she just wouldn't have a bar of it.
So now she is patiently waiting until she can hopefully order offer fingers crossed, they stopped making them or something and then I can laugh at her. We personally just think she
should be making more responsible decision or car because again she's not a car Enthusiast.
It says somebody's it's almost like he's buying this kind of went up, another family member who has a Golf GTI.
Why? So, you know, I mostly painting
a bias picture here. But yeah.
So I've you know I'll try to advise a more sensible car, you know, something that gives you better value for money and possibly more reliability than evolved.
But yeah, she's a decide. I know she's going to wait and
then put the order in which you can sew.
So she's getting a leon Cooper, right?
Yes, yes. Okay if I had my way they'd yes.
I think that's actually like, calling them a Fiesta Ford.
Yeah, pretty much. Yeah.
It's actually the other way around.
Is the other route? Sorry, I messed that up.
Completely, very long at all. Is that
similar? Kind of availability once you
don't or then I thought I think the grid, the grid addition misses out on a couple of things because of the chips and they've got availability of it because they can build them and they can ship them, but it might be like an order tailgate that sort of thing. The, this is out on.
I think there's a couple things but there's also a Tiguan grid Edition. I think same similar tick tick,
one are with the group good addition as well.
There is a TIG welder Union in the grid addition with the condition is unlike a stripped out one that the state of one will know that the higher end, one comes with a full leather and stuff, but but here's the here's the kicker.
If you want the good seats too, good body-hugging sites.
You go for the great addition because the the top spec with a leather gets the flat, basically, golf standard spec seats. So that often that's ball one.
You regret it is okay. He's like I should have bought
the grid Edition but he wanted all the bells and whistles so you went for a run for that but yeah to get to I had he waited a long time for it to and now he's and then he ended up trading it in for an archaeon because he went from our field to your, to a golf to go to take one hour then, went back to the Tiguan.
Are because it, because his back was just cooked in it because it just wasn't great. And then now that the new RT
only got She's so she's just brand brand-new.
He's had the fuel flow up for fall off.
Underneath the dashboard, come apart, the end in the house and the cars a couple weeks old and the air-conditioning's failed.
So he yeah. Really regretting his VW
decision again so I can hear mr. Bunting, even though he's not
here, I can hear him. I've seen it for the same thing
between the great addition. And the stands isn't that all
standard midi standard are so a six thousand dollars.
Hmm, so yeah. Come on sugar levels.
I'm sure the answer would be a resounding.
No. She's, you know, so I'll go but
it's but yeah, there's a chance because initially she was willing to buy a, there's one available.
I think it had some demonstrate a case on it and they wanted basically more than a brand-new one that delivered.
Yeah, yeah. That's right.
That's exactly. Was it will have you ever tested
in a car? Because a lot of people have.
I let me tell you, no one takes in this a strong makeup and you shouldn't either like also, you should abuse the car but you should definitely you know, experience the cow.
Yeah, it's more. I just what you first.
All right there for us for us were driving.
Like I draw my new car and I'll drive it at different paces and I'll give it a bit and then let you know, then Cruise along and then sort of just change up the speeds and what you're doing and where you're going, and try to load it up a little bit here and there rather than just try to labor it at a continuous space.
You know in Top Gear. Like we had the friend from High
School who's got their family, bought an extra six turbo which channel, go to the mom who never, you know, gave it the beans and the first time they did, give it the beans it with fervor. Yep.
That's a true story. He's a true story.
They drove it fine. Then they gave it to the mom as
a daily and she daily that she never took a past 2000 Apple, two and a half thousand RPM like she's part of this thing around.
Anyway, the that opt-in and about Ike year and a half later and gave it a boot for getting onto the freeway and nothing in the turn. Just Big puff of white smoke and
the Turbo pull up because it was all good.
It hadn't been, you hadn't been driven hard and yeah, so they were, they had their offered a very expensive turbocharger but that's another story. So I think the big drum is
explore your cars. Exactly.
With you. What have I been doing?
Jeez, not much since I. Last spoke to everyone who
worked on this little hot and I'll tell you it's a nightmare.
You tell me the Honda made it all the way to your house room.
Yeah. Yeah, it is, yeah.
In what we could go along the way.
Well, maybe you can tell you how I got to my place.
But anyway. Yeah.
So try to make this corner piece for it and that's it.
It's about, I don't know, did is a radius and is about three different angles and it's wrapped around a corner.
So you can imagine how difficult it is to make this piece that's rusted out on this Honda. So it's an absolute nightmare.
So be my first degree. Sorry it's like microsurgery
worst microsurgery. Actually it's actually worse but
I'm thinking of maybe cutting the actual part and then maybe do it in two or three pieces rather than trying to make it in one piece. It I need a an English wheel and
a lot of other things to try to make it properly.
And I just don't have the don't have the equipment to do it.
Well, I have to look for those tools for Rob and yeah, I think we're gonna have to get that on my online, like that, it's the places I went to. I couldn't get it as if we.
Yeah, if we get a sandbag and the right tools, you can actually shape that corner to some extent.
Even in might not might look ugly because you still need to roll it and then try to flatten it all out once you stretch it?
Yeah. But it's look at the end of the
day it'll be all right. No matter what we do, even if we
cut it and I sit all together we'll cut out that bit of rust and the car. Be a good nice little car.
Yeah. Rob.
Have you considered firing this client in this car?
Well, look that there's no chance of it.
Catching a lot, except for the petrol that's leaking out of the fuel tank. Yeah, there's less of a chance
than actual the Falcon. Hello, rejecting the job.
Here, we are doing some awesome. Okay, I'm down for that.
Hey You know, what I do have his client things seem to catch a light. So, yeah, we need to be careful.
He was panicking, you have a day when we started cut away at it, he saw a few little Sparks here and there and it was going on, you're gonna burn down your garage.
You're gonna burn your bikes going to burn everything.
Nah, it's all right. So I think he little smocks, if
you hang around for a couple hours, I've done a few hot works in the past, just got to make sure that now you've got no flammables around. It should be right.
Keep an eye on it. For a couple of hours.
Yeah. So apart from working on the
little Honda I've got few little parts for the Jimny sort of like a little cup holders and little door hair holders that are put in a the Jimny. I've looked at a roof rack and I
think I've settled on which roof rack, I'm going to get.
Yeah, so I'm just slowly good bits and pieces to Jimmy basically to get to a certain point where it's yeah, it's got all the little bits and pieces that you need when you go away and And it's going to be comfortable, going to have an armrest, go to storage in a set of conch style stuff like that is it has it comes from next to nothing.
So yeah, but yeah, that's pretty much it for the cast from these even though I've got a lot of cars going to work on but it's getting me motivated working on Maddie's car.
So that's good. It's good.
It's good to hear that. I'm actually doing something to
make some motivation for our Rob.
Thanks mate. Thanks but And turns out, I
don't know if I got if I told you about the last possible game I played about a month and a half ago.
I rolled my ankle really, really badly.
Yeah, I didn't tear a ligament which I thought I did was I God, I'll be right. I'll just just walk it off.
And then when I realized when I couldn't walk it off in the field and on the kind of cord and got got kind of like, you know, High hold off and drive a camera because was an automatic for the next few days until I could like put my foot on the clutch. I'm like that's right.
And I'll be back running and everything again which has been fine. I think we have to talk, Mary,
it's a tall. Guy was sad when with my
brother-in-law as he's also in his 30s to quit, you know, Sports and there's like, no, just keep exercising.
Oh, see, it's great. But you're only more risk of
injury. It's only going to get worse as
you go on. Yeah.
Unless you already pro athlete, which is one thing then you're on all kinds of steroids is great, you know, look it up, it all on it. That's how you, that's how they
run. Into their 30s.
Otherwise if you just a natural individual, like yourself.
Yeah. It's usually the time when you,
you know, you play your last game and you can become the coach clay yell from the sidelines.
You transition to be angry Dad. Yeah we have about 30 to 40 so I
can type on down towards about 48.
It's all good, so good so good. I'll see how it go but I think I
think I'm done with basketball for a very long time at this point. So what I do is like to be first
of all, she's like so like why the hell?
You call me when you did it on my own like, well, you know the shuttle ride a couple of like a better week later, but it still has a few. Alright.
So again, it doesn't feel like because you bloody ball, broke it. Yes, I didn't like it's like she
compared both my ankles still and my left one just want to hurt. It's still swollen.
So it's all right. It'll, it'll pass as far as but
carp that we need hip surgery or anything now.
No, it's it's kind of too late for that to be honest.
It's just, it's just, it's just rehab now.
Really, I'm going to go see if see a physio.
And get some Rehab on it which is not going to look forward to because that's more money down the drain but it'll be, it's for my benefit I suppose. So I will get that done.
But anyway, carved it with me, I've got a bit to talk about this week. First of all, skip talk
something, you wrote there, many times?
Yes. Yes.
So got it started had a flat battery.
Go to have got halfway to open or not halfway like, like probably got to about Roxbury Park, was getting all on fuels like why is it getting so low on fuel, a full of full backpack, full of fuel? Go to be more and then I ran out
of electricity and I'm like crap.
So got towed. Get down.
I can smell fuel on it in this tight-knit.
A brand new tow truck to I could smell Fuel and the guys only have like three days and he was telling me how excited you tow truck. Well, I get out of the car.
Get out of the truck. I just see you.
All the fuel that I just $50 worth of feel like this.
Put in this car, just just emptied everywhere.
And they look like the little seal of the bottom of the tank has decided to say no more. So I was like, great, that's
fantastic. Push it up onto onto Rob's
driveway because it's a small car.
You can push it quite easily. And Rob's that are having a go
at it. I had work on the weekends
always get there. But I've got to try and sort
some time out, but, but Rob has made some good.
Good inroads the day that like the first day, we had it there, Rob cut out all the, the bog and Rusty Parts.
Make sure that a little cleaned up and treated the rest and made sure. It's, you know, it's it'll be
good to like a base to to kind of go from it as you were saying earlier. So that was that I've got to get
back there. Once once I get those Dutch
frigate, the monitor, I get that hammer and get as well from an from other place. My mum reckons one of those
supplies might have it. Rob sir.
I'm going to take Uncle one of us applies to work.
Secondly, my typhoon. So, I drove my typhoon on
yesterday. Actually, I'd like to tell you a
joke yesterday and, and I picked up my friend to catch up with some lunch. And he's, how would you explain
it? Not the most gentlest of people,
they have great, great, great human you show, you show these doors like ahead and shut up like that.
Shut. And he just yanked the door
handle and snap the door handle and I'm just like, I just looked Him and he's like, I'm sorry about that.
I'm on Mike and I'm just looking at him I'm like oh my God like it's not. It's co anyway.
I had a look and update the door to that like the interior door, trim interior. The interior daughter, the
interior door handle you know. Like not the not the handle to
open the door but like they actually get the grab handle up handle. Correct.
Yeah. And complete completely snapped
it from behind on both parts and I'm like That's not ideal.
It turns out typhoon ones are specific for typhoon of because, of course they are. They came with us that came like
an Alcantara suede kind of thing.
Whereas XT is not didn't, and then, these orbitals are had the piece of like, the fake carbon fiber to trimming and all that.
I'm so you can't get one. Second hand.
You can't get one brand new. So I took the door trim off last
night. When I got home, I was bitterly
angry, how to look behind, try to fix it myself.
Wasn't going well because the way the Ford put it together, they kind of just put it in there and they just melt the back of it. So it kind of melts around it
and then the screws kind of hold it.
It's a really, let's be honest shitty way of doing it, but that's just adding, right? It's a cheap car, the end of the
day so I could have fixed it. And I was like, maybe need to be
plastic molded. So, and I looked up at the toy
because apparently it's happened.
A few other be a park. And when you, when you not
really nice with the pages ripped, the door handle, They bring the door handle with you but the door stays exactly where it is. So they say plastic warnings,
the only way to do it. So I called up this place, their
duplicity gold plus plus recording in sunshine and took it there. And so turns out they do, all
bumpers and stuff of cars and like all ones have been an accident to repair them and send them back to like, you know, other places like they were one of those place that does.
Those things is like, leave it here.
Come, come back at the end of the day and I'll see he's I was like no kids. It's pretty started.
You're going to need a new one but we can try get it work.
Get it as good as we can. I'm like look, just so you can
do just, I just want to put my daughter in back because I'm angry, I don't want to look at it.
I tried, I tried online trying to find one try to eBay.
Try to all the you do Usual Suspects.
I want to try some records tomorrow but I know they're not going to sell one door card. They're gonna have to sell you
the whole set because it's a typhoon set and they're so what I'm going to try to do is ask for a tornado set.
The same thing just to because it's the you know to Door instead of a four-door you are. Well I went back today after
after my appointment so I was angry that my I broke my ankle because I'm an idiot but to I was angry that my doors buzz in a state of disrepair. I get there and he still working
out as I can. And as I got there and I walk in
and he's like, he's like look, Matt, it's not ideal but we've got it better. So he managed to get a glue is
like, I couldn't multi because it was just not enough to work with because it just shattered like the thing to shut it all behind it. Yeah.
So he managed to put a soft tapping into two of them and glue around it. So like it kind of held it in
place, quite strong and glued. The remaining plastic baggie,
plastic welded one of the Interior pin inside pieces for the free afterward, where the screw goes through into the into the middle. But when you put it back
together, The the door handles got a little bit of a gap at the top and I'm like, it doesn't look right, but I was just like, I don't want to put it back on the car because like, I can't drive a car without a door handle, and then when I put it on, I realized it was a little bit of the glue that he'd put on when on the top of the plastic. And it's kind of damage the
plastic the door handle. And I'm like, and I'm like, this
is just getting worse, but the door had a works.
It closes its, it feels somewhat strong.
It doesn't mean I'm very gentle with it now.
Like Ike. Cuz I need it.
I need to, you know, find another one or get a mr.
David Princeton when he returns to see what he can do about it.
If you can make a bracket or something to give it some support because I'm pretty, it's pretty upset about it because like, you know, as you know, guys that kozminski, I like the color really nice example, and that just brings it down now.
So so I wasn't happy but it's at least door handles not sitting on the floor is back, mounted onto the onto the actual door of the car. So yeah, I was a little bit.
Annoyed with that. But I joined my Fiesta today
because I don't ruin it in like good two months because Stephen driving a more than me actually. So I dropped it down and took it
for a drive and I'm like this is such a fun little car to drive on a. I can see it's a perfect City
Carly. It just works.
So so despite my anger, it was made me happy driving a fun, fun car like that. So it says that was good.
The gold laser which was the as you know that the free one I gotta go. Get past the road where the all
good, all in my name all sorted and had a very happy motoring so far so that that's that's been, that's been really, really good.
I said to run those to do the talking about but when he, when he did The Rocker cover gasket because that needed to be done for the road where the he's like it's been changed recently.
So sweet like the belt new, the pumps near the water pumps need that they took the cut, the covers over had a look, I said yeah. They said look you be fine.
He's like we'll do it at 150. Just to be safe but he's like
he's like the belt looks brand-new.
So he's like, well, do it at $150, right?
So so he's like you said little bit of money there for now, but yeah. Overall, that's ready to go.
Eat. It's been picked up and step
strumming and as we speak actually, she's rubbing it tonight. So that's been good and I think
that's virtually it on my card. It's so pretty miserable car
updates. But a good thing was when the
guy picked up my car in the, in the in the in the truck.
He's like, well, this is definitely the smallest thing I've ever picked up. And I like I said, I have to
laugh. And also, you know, press, yeah.
You should have Oh gosh.
Anyway, gentleman moving on to tonight's discussion points before we get to the quiz. Meow I quite often think to
myself. What's it like what's the best
car you've ever driven alarmed? Like in your entire life that
you said, you know what, I'd love to own one again.
All that was the best car I've ever driven and why I like, I got thinking that because I was dropping the fiesta today.
I was just like, I was like, this car is just so good to drive, what you just feels like, you know, You're planted and and your, you know, your your all about, you know, just being one with the car. It got me thinking about, you
know what, what are they what? What other cars do have?
I said that about or one of the cars, would you think that would that would, you know, that would work for now.
We'll start with alum now, LM your you've obviously got your STI and that's a very special car, but you've had that, we're exes, you've had Falcons, you've had do a new driven, many things you do, you deny through the end, you've driven all sorts of stuff. Do you think that one of your
exes is one of the best cars you've ever driven?
Or would you said something else that you've driven like a?
For example, if I think you've driven a C63 or being in a C63, please your honor the way they're ready, it probably out of the cars, I've driven, the car were over, like I would love to own one of these. I'll be very happy with one of
these privacy 63. Okay, yeah, obviously the
previous generation with the VA so the previous generation this 10. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
The 6.3 naturally, aspirated V8, so that like you haven't had a
hopin that. Well, definitely not being
legally support allowed to drive that at the time.
I think I was a green play P planner and you know we have the we have the complete rules of how How to wait, another V8 motor boats at something, but, you know, helping in any way and deciding that what's the worst that could happen.
I could get, you know, in trouble.
And then thankfully heading to Mexico and to 180, you know, 77, which I really should have done, but it was the western suburbs.
So represent, Tails Lakes. If you know wrong, you know,
going to go to go to do on all of the Kings Road.
Yeah, now, what? Well, yeah, do it.
Experience. Just the car like a house.
It was obviously, I was still quite naive when it came to going to cars and abilities, that sort of thing and being a people that are you need to get to experience many powerful things. But just sitting, you know, five
big dudes and the car is just gunning, you know, not missing a Beat. Just go on climbing, climbing
climbing, and it wasn't the car. Giving up, was just me skimming
scanning backing off Absalom this down.
It's just kind of experience. And, you know, we've discussed
c63s countless times over. Our over the episodes and just
that, you know, 6.2 liter V8 sound wise, you know, hard to
beat. Yes, there's more powerful cars
out there. Something what 330 on kilowatts,
but it's, you know, 331, German kilowatts and man do they do, they put out. So, you know, when you need
them. So, that would be like, I've
owned my obviously directs the STI, and I'm very happy with those, but if I could, you know how the cars I'm kind of tripping in the past if I could pick one to be, like I could have that in my life right now, it'll be 60.
I know what for sale. LM, if you if you're interested
is it is it facility? There's a Vista.
Lucas isn't it is he's had enough heavy.
Yeah, it does want to sell it, but he needs it to fund other things. So the other things start with F
and M is six, correct? Yes.
Yes, you think side, I would you think, you know, but you don't care because they were You never done.
Well, yeah, it sounds good. And I can see why you have that
as your pick. I don't know.
It's, it's a difficult one like before, you know, lose some of these faster cars in the late, you know, between the 2020s like the C63 for insistent, Carly's got one sir.
Of course, I've driven that and about makes a 16 turbo, but I've always had crappy cars until, you know, recent years.
So, when I first got the WRX, I think my WRX was that well car after, you know, driving ordinary type cars.
Little Suzuki sweeps or, you know, even if it's my dad's 7 series BMW, you're just carollers and zucchinis did all the other stuff in between the WRX was here like that.
That really stood out for me at that particular point back in the early 2000s. But today, geez, there are some
fast fast cars but the Mercedes is so refined and so tuned as fast car. You want?
I feel that it's too fine and I think porches are a bit like that, too. There'd, it's just even though,
Faster, just a bit ordinary fast.
So, I reckoned with, I've been in a mate's GS what is it?
Supercharged, you and that's just awesome and we make some fpv you. That's another nice car to
drive, I've driven that, but so they're probably a bit more fun than a Mercedes to drive. They just sort of and even a
mustang mustang and my mates Mustangs.
A supercharged or given that it, he just the sound.
The speed it gets up to speed as quick as a, the Mercedes does, with the same, you know, wheel spin and, and turn it down on, you know, down a highway. So that's I think probably my
mates. Supercharged.
Mustang. Well would be the car.
Yeah, it's raw. Yeah.
So for you LM C c23 biscuit Driven few rob, you mates, Master supercharger Mustang, but you divert the best kind of you've ever driven. Whoa.
Again, it's pretty hard, bad decision.
There's certainly some memorable ones, but partly some of the memories sort of coming to where you where you were when you drove them and and and what the situation was.
I suppose I remember are probably just over 10 years ago now I on another trip to Europe AA.
I had my mate who it sounds pretty pretentious, but he's Ali's pretentious person. I know who keeps his Ferrari in
the UK for when he's in Europe, actually come to Siena in Italy and we drove to Maranello in his 550 Maranello.
No so cool. And that that day, I mean I'll
never forget as long as I live. I mean, it was each other that
car just to find Grand Jury, you know, I mean that's that's I've never known it. To just ate up distance like
that. It was just incredible,
incredibly thirsty but but yeah, that was, that was pretty incredible and that there that the era of Ferraris, I mean the new ones, you know they're very impressive you know but the oldest art The Styling of the older cars is just stunning.
And I mean it's like being in a piece of art let alone having a V12 engine and a 5-speed gearbox.
It's manual gearbox. So that was, that was certainly
one of the best cars I've probably ever driven and understandably, given my pawn shop for the the Japanese cars.
I remember the first NSX, I drove very, very fondly.
That was that was a bit of a revelation, he's special.
Yeah, it was incredible from the point of view that it absolutely drove, you know, like a completely well, normal sorted, Japanese Gap, 100 But it just did, it was so accomplished and acceleration. Even if it was only a 3 litre V6
in the early cards, it was it was it was an act, it was great, very light, you know, being aware, medium comparatively, but that was brilliant. I think the best cars and also
the FK up I remember and I think I've spoken about it before on the Prague podcast, I mean driving the FK it when it came out and then you having the chance to have one for a week.
Weak. And that the fact that that time
it was the the fm2 that I've driven previously just made me feel old because nothing about it was particularly great to me.
I mean, they're there, people love them and the like, but I didn't like the build quality of didn't like the ride.
I didn't like that the manic sort of, you know, Readiness of it. And just thought that they were.
That's it. You know?
That part of my life is over now?
No, I'll be in a very good Mobility Scooter.
Next I think getting an FK and just thinking, actually, I'm not as old, as I thought I was because everything about this car is freaking awesome. So, that's certainly another
memorable one, but Don Honda, let's go not Honda aside from the Ferrari. Let's go, I see on for three
years. I wanted to know, one of the
midlife crisis. I've had, I had to have a
convertible. So, I ended up with a manual to
leader, EOS, Volkswagen Eos, and that was a great card or Around.
I say this now because you never literally, I had nothing go wrong with it. I didn't have thousands of
dollars in roof repairs and with the 37 servos and electric motors it has to lower that roof.
So yeah, I've only got good memories of that car, it was quick. It was comfortable and it pushes
button. It was a convertible.
So was that was that was pretty member of my did enjoy that.
As soon as you know, it's like I've always had a bit of appreciation for like those. We'll call them hardtop,
convertible kind of cars, but I've always been so scared of like, you know, my hope soft tops.
Got a bit of Terror. I'm already upset about that.
So what if something would be wrong with him, you know those are not imagine. There is a lot to go wrong, oh,
yes, yes. But then they do they look cool.
You know, the great thing about the EOS and I think it's the only one because I don't think the my God, the the center's panel above the seats operates, like a sunroof as well.
So we will just Up to think the car will actually also slide back like a, like an open, the sunroof and then you go to the next stage in the whole thing goes down into the boot.
So yeah, I mean it was just that's watching watching it go up or down. But yeah, as I said when the
dealer that I bought from secondhand showed me that they had spent two and a half thousand dollars on the roof.
So I was pretty happy, they'd spend it not me, it was probably traded in with Dickie roof and they had to fix it to actually retailer but it from then on I didn't have any problem with it all the time I earned it so. Well would you would you
consider like I've always wanted to know about with convertible convertible owners. How often did you put the top
down? My walls was it was it a?
It was just like, okay I'm all right.
Did you opportunity? I could certainly open the
sunroof. It'll tell you how much I love a
sunroof in the car. So yeah, I do.
All the time. But but yeah, any chance I had.
And the best time was sort of balmy evenings once the 7:00 in the especially in spring and summer, to put the roof down and it's a great drives to remember of through the Dan genomes in the early morning, when it was freezing cold, but clear and Beautiful Morning, put the roof down, put the heater on, and a scarf. You look pretty pretentious.
But it's fun. If your special don't you?
He feels. Special, but I know my son had
the 330ci convertible. So, yeah, I had a bit of a
convertible enjoyment there for a couple years to so it was, it was good fun. Yeah, absolutely.
Absolutely. Well, that's something I get to
try with the MX. I like when I bought it, it was
definitely the stuff. I think towards Autumn now and
then where I guess it's the start of winter.
So I didn't really kind of have the top down in any of the colder climates. But You know, you mention it, it
was like the whole idea of it was a clear warning or clear day. It is cold.
Maybe wreck yourself a little bit.
Maybe wear a hoodie, top down, and just groping about that.
Is that sounds like a lot less a better idea.
Because always operated with the sun's out guns out.
Kind of, is that if it's all exciting idea of the tops, coming down the MX-5. Yeah.
So yeah, I'm doing something during the winter.
That's I reckon. It's worth a shot.
It's just unfortunately have such a little with you.
Sometimes it is a risk, but a day that you No, it's going to be clear and sunny. I'm not really suitable whether
the Sun comes out to 5 minutes. How long does it take to put
that soft up down? Alan, come on.
Well really takes any savings but I don't have the arm flexibility of, you know, something to bring it up.
Again, if I'm Yeah.
Actually, I was reminded of the are they all signed it yesterday? Because one of the trips that my
daughter and son-in-law head out to Australia, when I still had the EOS, we actually took it down the morning, Peninsula, through the day and the notice on on the photo board they've got on their hallway that there's a photo of this all with the ice with the roof down. So that was that was a good
memory. What about the best car?
You Over the over, the over the journey and I had thing all over the Dune. But basically they said, you
know what, that was a cracking car, I would love to own that again. Like, it doesn't have to be the
best cake I've ever driven, but the best cake you've ever owned.
How do you think that? Would be?
Well, this will be easy for me because they're in gear, I guess I'm going to say we're on the younger side, but when we are, but also because we haven't over in comparison to Robin David old as many cars, I think Rail period of I guess having licenses, why not? You definitely won more than
anybody and for me to be very easily viewed of Eric's, it's probably like it's will call on an indefinite loan to my brother-in-law. And so that'll be one of the
cars that I could see myself getting back.
It's particularly like the very one that I, you know, used to earn what you mean. Okay.
Knock on wood assuming nothing wrong happens to it you know the coming years so that'd be great to you know, have back again the just cruising but you rob look I got to say, I've driven a lot of cars over the years and there's some great cars.
I still keep on reflecting back on to my p76.
Yeah, no ice. No ice Nair talking.
Yeah, it just everything was just well balanced in.
The car was probably the suspension.
Autumn could be a bit harsh with McPherson strut depending upon what set up and what sort of ties you had on your car but it was just well balanced. You can actually I sort of just
don't yeah, I oversteer it if you wanted to just was well-balanced, there's just a car that would just do everything. Okay, we just sit straight on
the road, it would just Cruise like I always remember the trip, so, get up to Queensland. And when he's refused to leave
in the evening, and will be driving right through tonight, till 12:00, 1:00 in the morning, and then have a sleep in the side of the road, but the car will just be you can hear the The actual the air intake and are coming through to car wreck.
The car was like it, like it became alive.
You can feel that the air coming through to car and a car would just just like, I don't know, just run down the highway, like, cars today and it just, there's no difference, whether you go for a long drive short, drive their fuel injected, there, they do everything, okay, but when you got a carbureted car, On a cold evening and you're driving up the highway sitting on about 120, kilometres an hour. It's just a feeling that you do.
I haven't had for four years, it's just brilliant.
But one day going to be able to relive.
Well, this is a thing. I've been so fussy and trying to
get their car rebuilt. Oh, I'm going to just bite the
bullet and do the best I can and just drive it rather than try to make it this car that it's not. So, so, and that's the thing.
So I'm just going to put it all back together and just bite the bullet and get it all straight up.
And I'm gonna have to pull the motor out.
I think in them redo tomato. And I'm not sure what parts are
available for the matter anymore.
I'll check the Pistons out and putting you rings in it.
And I don't even know if you get gasket kits for him anymore.
I do based on the Royal VA. Right.
Yeah. So that the rider was a three
point three and a half later we're 3.5 liter.
So The head gaskets to be the same that your Valley rocker covers will be different value gaskets and your intake where it's it's, it's all different. So the dab are slightly lower
shorter. Was that v8p 76 only?
Yeah, the 4.4 V8. Yeah, so is currently is it was
a Buick GMC. Buick design and British Leyland
or somewhere bought the rights to build those Motors.
So they used it on the Rover's to peacefully Sixers Range Rovers. I think that a lot of users on a
couple other cars as well. Stag maybe not.
That's all different remote. It's a horse alma mater rafter
to give it to make a V8. But yeah the great photos of the
thing is the motor was a square. Basically is just one of they
call it a square motor. So for now Finch for three and a
half inch stroke, I think it was.
Yeah. So Just ran real.
Well, it was talking enough. It was a revving motor to used
to read real well for its time cars back in those days when traveling out to. I think past I think four and a
half thousand ribs. I think it might have been now
this juicer about 25 something so it was a great car was just drove. It went real well but you
couldn't really Repco done. A lot of shooting to it and done
a lot of work to the heads and and put bigger.
Vowels in and done a lot of things to it, to get the air flow through it and get this, you'll and are going through it to get more power out of it. When you look at all the modern
cars today, they're all did. They're no bigger than a 4.4.
Yeah hmm. And they go pretty hard and
that's because they've actually designed air intakes and the valves and everything to to give it that power.
So a lot of guys are done a lot of mods to them over the years, it will put on for coil coil packs.
And then they've put in for Barrel, manifolds and maybe manifolds forum and try s.u s.u metafiles off the Range Rover
and stuff like that. They've done all sorts of things
with different copies but I still you can get a bit of power out of them. We can put nice cam in it, but
you still can't get the extreme power as you would out of E350 shift where some of those other you know, American Motors.
They just want to eat it all. Yeah, it just did it wasn't
there but I think if you would have given him another two or three years, they would have come out with a from what I hear, they would have come out for more powerful motor and they'll actually aiming it putting that 47 in to bat first.
And actually racing it up Baptist, which is unfortunate and never happened and your life.
Have you said a 47 in real life? Yes.
Well, we a couple times I've probably had had an opportunity to buy one back in the full 90s. I don't know what I missed out
on my team. Did you go green?
One of the guy at that? Green one actually come out of
this would be a Lila and dealership in Preston.
I think it was seen High Street, might maybe I can't remember exactly what writer was on, but they had a deal.
If you call when you get a green skirt in Northcutt.
Yeah, I think it's Norfolk and yes the green one sitting in here. Showering for years for quite a
few years and that car ended up in Bendigo I think the sun had it in Parker next tree and was just rusting away.
So that was up for sale miss out on that one and there was a brown one up for sale. Well, and also missed out on
that one turned out. They wanted about 15, thousands
of the brown one, at the time, back in the 90s.
So I had just missed opportunities to to get one.
There's one went up for sale recently and is sold for relatively cheap. I think it was don't quote me on
it. I was told about 36,000 dollars,
it's all for, which is really, which was real cheap, but they should be worth a lot more than what they are.
But I Is that they never really came out and they stop them before they actually release them and they weren't compliance tests or complied. So that is the compliance fights
weren't put on him. That there might have been some
reason behind of the valuation of the car's not being as valued as some other cars being released at limited edition, which were compliant stand on the roads, how long about a probably expect. But I want to do is want to know
about this car. Like I knew the four sevens,
well, compliance us why they could never get put into all over the world. Crushed and destroyed?
Yeah. How did the ones that get on the
road? How are they on the road?
Like how are they, how do they get registered?
Well, I think that probably would have to be needing individually. Okay.
Yeah, but yes, they, they would have somehow got got over that process that might have even register them as P. 76ers.
I don't know. The one that the one that was
it, I think Burns & Co in Bayswater options.
That one that you talked about recently and it was yellow orange. I think.
Things aren't I too? But yeah, I actually went out
and had a look at it because I wanted to see one and it was quite clear that it was a pre-production vehicle.
Yeah, and couldn't be registered, but there is, I think there is partly a bit of a technicality because Club permit Club permanent car is not registration.
So putting a current Club permit is not registering it.
That's so there is a way I think that you can actually put those type of Of cars on Club permits. Now, there's the ones that are
going around. They are registered, so to have
got them engineered or something to get them on the road so it definitely registered. So yeah, there you go.
There you go. David.
Best cake you've ever owned? I think I still own it.
I think it would have to be my Scamp.
That my wife bought for me $50 in 1990.
I think Cars opened up so many things for me that that I would never have imagined. I love the tactile, more sober
than the total involvement in totally involving Driving Experience that you get, as many knows when his is running properly that that they give, and I think it's a fabulous to owning an icon, you know, like it was it's actually a motoring icon as well, especially as far as the He's concerned.
It was one of the cars, the mobilize Japan after the second world war and they the millions of were sold in Japan.
I mean everybody, a lot of people in Japan, it was it was their first car or their families, first car.
And they remember with a lot of fun there.
So it's a big like, you know, its association with his mini.
I think, you know, it's one of those cars that is bigger than the sum of its parts. I think like Rob I mean aside
from, you know, Couple things are bought and sold on.
Making my car's of mostly being fairly pedestrian.
Sort of cars through the years and family-orientated things which are there, big some highlights and some lowlights amongst those. But pretty much highlights
because I was always pretty Keen to, you know, identify the peak, what I wanted, what was best for me.
Some of the things I will be best for the situation but now I probably say the Scamp. Well just put up some just
before you go back to before we get back to your, to your Your your scams Ross, put some pictures of what is that your actual piece of a sex room? Yeah, that was when I was on a
ride on a whitetail Springs. All right, then you should see
some four sevens as well. I think it's the same car twice,
but probably going to get that car on the road.
Rob. It's blue are not dead asking
Queensland somewhere. Yeah, it's some great photos.
So it's a blue one. Is it?
It was called it. It's called, it's blue, and it's
actually called. Am I blue that?
That was a matter. How you said some Studies have
some funny names on a year? They did that though Global
great that until you like a d'Ivoire.
She blew hasn't how you like my 12-inch Tas these save on a wide the Sizer. And in the guards stall, I still
had room underneath the guards for bigger tires.
That's amazing. Yeah, so it'll be painted the
same blue. Lou, they had a four-speed
manual in it for many years. I had it on gas.
Hey guys, I got to get on gas and that back then gas or six, insulator, petals store, cheater cheap has a.
I think there's any 30-something sensor later back in when I first started driving and in but it goes down, you got to get on gas so you end up putting on gas.
So it actually the motor got pretty tight after a certain period. So I put another motor in it.
Rebuilt, the entire motor and again that motor got tired after another couple hundred thousand case.
On the thing was that I actually put heavier Duty sway bars on it then lavelle's race Springs on it.
Had it lowered a little bit. It's a big wheels on it.
No used to push it pretty hard and actually it was actually putting out a bit more power at one stage, two, and with the cams and bigger car bees and all that sort of stuff.
Before I had a gas and in, believe it or not, it actually flexes the car and actually started having some stress cracks And I'll prank to get stress cracks putting them in the back, top of the boots in the back quarters and a front chassis and neither where the sway bar is these to crack.
So might has cracked. So I've read I've repaired a
cracks and redone at all, and I still got to reinforce the lower sway, bar section to make it stronger again.
So won't crack again in the future.
Well, I think that on the road very soon, Soon, Rob, how many snakes have you owned David over over the over the years?
How many of Ireland and the probably ask about the three or four, but the red one I have here now is the original one, you know, we've lost them, you know, with the scam.
Is there? A is there a club is the act
Scamp Club? No, not especially well, there
is one in Japan called the n360, enjoy Club.
See what they did and I'm actually a member of that and then they send me the newsletters and stuff like that, which is very cool. Can't read a word of them, the
pictures are great, but no, they just covered under the under the public health club. The Victoria, when I'm hiding.
High volume can not an Australian Australian Japan.
Huge huge. Yeah.
Yeah. In Japan.
You absolutely huge but the, in Australia, they were thirteen hundred ninety seven dollars brand-new.
So it was like the equivalent of, you know, Kia Picanto or iodine Excel. I used to say, you know, when
they were 3990 driveway, was basically the cheapest car you could buy. So a lot of people pull them who
really is not cars. So the attrition rate was Fairly
High over the years. So there's not a huge number of
them on the road still. But but yeah I mean people that
know what they are you know that don't know what an important car. They were especially with in the
history of the Japanese automotive industry but the other thing I like about it is the fact that that's what mods and like a 1970 model and in 1990 they release the NSX.
So in 20 years they went from The scab basically being their main line of car to the NSX showing in the world, what they could do. So now, they build airplanes.
So you know, you could buy a Honda jacket if you want.
How many kind of building Jets like a lot of their I companies build engines of course, but there's not not many that have a branded plane as well. So that's why it's pretty cool.
Bombardier make jet skis and I was that don't like it but then I met, cuz you're supposed to make jet ski CDs, water-skier, snowmobiles and make everything back as okay.
It's rust. Well, General, shall we get into
the quiz. Let's go.
I'm still jet-lagged. He might just be where they're
well, see, there's just say that so that when he went to can Flex even more, To pull a lien on this one.
He's free before before we get started out quickly, but secret weapon. Yeah, I'm gonna use cheating to
help you know, but we'll, all right, here we go.
You know, the rules, 10 questions, plus some bonus questions, question one, by the way, Holly Hayden question want the new Honda Civic. Type R has how many kilowatts
for Australia. David Davis, we have had this
question before for Australian Idol.
I think we have the one for the, you know, the the overall inverted commas one. But it, we've got a slightly
different tune here, compared to other star countries.
Okay? So close to thinking, it's
something like I think it's 235 235 says David's.
All right. Okay, it's 228.
I was gonna say that to you 2828 and Ellen.
It's somewhere in there. I know that amount.
OCT, 31 23, you are, you guys are very, very close, Rob and Harley. That was the previous fk8 228
and then made now makes two hundred and thirty five kilowatts. So you were spot on David's.
Well done movie Devil's a closest to as you have a diet that is question there's been Lots spoken about the upgraded turbo on This latest gen generation, Civic Type R, FL 5.
Now, the turbo is based upon the same turbo that came on the FK.
However, what are the differences .5 h0?
It's a twin spool. Incorrect, deter.
It's it is not. I David on, not completely sure.
But I had to guess. It's got another fan.
Another blade incorrect Elam. It's got a different term.
What's called ratio? You know that that exhaust to
thing right here, it's different.
It is the froggy point five because it has to be different because it's called, I'll take it.
It's got its got less. It's got less finding the turbo.
So so it's got more response and the using a list and sort of different rehousing on the turbo.
So it's the same turbo, just just upgraded internals and a different rear housing. Question to the Mazda MPS range
in America was not as the what But it's not sorry.
Not so we call them in PS here in the you in the UK in hearing column is a massive speed faster.
Speed is. Absolutely correct.
I'll mail them. Yes but yeah.
Question 3, all UK refused to build Rolls-Royce Merlin engines for what reason what would you carry his?
So there are a few see, Bill Green.
For a certain reason. What was the reason that they
were said, not what I'm going to do it.
David was it that they didn't have a production facility?
Big enough incorrect. It be engine.
Some kind of a dispute with the people's.
Yeah, that's what I thought, but no, it's incorrect.
Is that would have made of this crappy as a Jag Motors.
When Ford took over, you're on the right track there.
But the This is where more were too loose like on the on the on the Rolls-Royce engines it was so loose, in fact that there were more loose than Ford was willing to allow for their aisle for their tolerance really well for those on the standard system. So you know, they say it's the
Rolls-Royce of something. No, it was the Ford of something
in that in that instance Question 4.
How many generations of the Dodge Viper have been created over the journey? So they look alike, Harley or
for is incorrect. Oh oh, come on three incorrect,
David, I'll get to it was incorrect five.
They've had five actions of Runway bonus question.
What does a CR mean in the Dodge?
Viper ACR. So that was their high-end
racing versions. What, what does the ACR stand
for its tiene? No idea.
So these ones are their full Club racing spec that they like, they accept that. I think they've got like twenty
eight track records in America in terms of time.
So they are pretty serious, bit of Kit.
They do handle incredibly. Well, no idea.
Says David. You can rub under this is
something to do with their race series or something American.
Something rice. I did hear about.
I'll give you a point five, Rob, because American and racing has what the I Am. The ostensible.
Yeah. But countrymen what the cease
and void? David.
Yet that I'm just a circuit circuit incorrect Alum.
So let's go down. Let's have a club.
Club is correct. Its American Club racing.
I'll give you a point five of them there.
Yeah, well done. I should I thought the club
first? I thought now surely can't be.
Yeah, he claimed Club racing thing that they do.
Anything American Club. Racing's.
What a CR stands for score. Chick after four questions.
We got Alum leading on to Bubu and David on one.
Guess what? It's still anybody Mug's Game.
Anyone's game. Question 5, what is the
smallest? Kia SUV currently on sale today
in Australia? David That would be the stomach.
Stomach is correct. They were all on.
Question 6. What Ford car is to be axed here
in Australia towards the end of twenty.
Twenty-three is what it was announced today.
There are many food cars that don't.
I'm an Australian what really gave it is, it, is it the focused that's really that was really the Turning long gone after is a fiesta that's also long gone.
Many Pima call you closer. It's the Escape after 22 years.
There will no longer be an escape here in Australia, where you can still buy an escape. Yeah, I do Island music care.
I thought I didn't mean you do realize you meant SUV as well according to all the Articles over today it's like oh yeah.
Ranger force and Everest. It's true Christians, have the
meki going to the Mackey, and we're getting the Puma electric Dynamics as well. They announced the pure electric
wall. They quietly said he escapes
dying at the end of the question. 7.
The Audi tt-rs is, how many cylinders?
Holly Holly, 55 is absolutely correctly, while I'm pushing a date. It's Alum to David to Rob one
point five. Question 8, the new BMW M2 has
how many transmission options, David?
One incorrect. Oh Stu is to they've got a
manual in an automatic transmission so it's rather still going with the manual. Yeah, exactly.
I was surprised I threw it, I would have thought they've changed it because you know they also did have the menu before but never took the bullet for me.
Thank you. The EU has officially said that
the ban on all new combustion engines bought from sell.
Well I should let me rephrase that question.
I wrote it down wrong question I'm the EU is officially said that the ban on all new combustion engines on sale today will be will end in what year LM a believe they put it as 2035 and he said Pockets absolutely correct on the bottom question 10. Acura, or Acura released the
what this week. Like I still exist, Holly Holly
Integra, Type R waul, your .54 Integra.
David David Integra Type S 5, S is absolutely correct.
Running the same drivetrain out of the city type.
I went with slightly more power and they are.
We going to get an Australian? I hope with this.
It's a good-looking guy. I think it looks.
All right. You can do this.
No snowflake. Is it something we left hand
drive? Not a lot built in right hand
drive. Yep, we got the Civic Type R,
it'll keep us happy for Nia well for 73, 74 ground and then I got to wait till next year. Interestingly, interestingly,
looking at the showroom showing me, the Honda website in the UK the Civic Type R. Here is the equivalent of about
eighty seven thousand dollars. That is true.
Yeah, it's funny that because like I was Looking at how much it is, you know, I work out the conversion rate from America and stuff as well. It's about 80 grand in America
as well in terms of like, you know, like it's like 40 something around there but like in terms of Australian it is equal to about that. We get the type R here, quite
cheap and, and what's interesting like, for example, David and I had the shot about like, the fiesta before, like like, you know, it was, you know, whatever.
Like in the 30s here, it's like 50 Grand their equivalent to it, which just blew me away. Like, holy crap for a few years.
So you have to get pricing quite good here.
I think you'll probably want to know if you've noticed, but what about the hot hatches in Australia and our small cars are actually probably some of the cheapest in the world.
Yeah. But when used to sit, as you go
through the exotic cars, they're actually the dearest.
And look at some of the rarest in the world.
So whereas you got to have a look at the comparison from, you know, all the eight, the Mercedes all Away today, G-Class the price differences aren't all that great.
Yeah, I'm in the grand scheme of things, I guess if you want anyone paying more, it's probably the people that can afford the exotic cars, but here in the hopes of having exotic holiday, I'm like, I mean just like that.
I'm sure you'll get there. One day you'll get one.
Hopefully it's like my 380 ccr4 deliver get one where you going now? We're gonna score.
Check. Tournament on to is Robin.
Holly on 2.5 is David. And tonight, we're not a grand.
