Muscle cars are fast cars that usually have big engines and are designed for performance. They were especially popular in the U.S. during the 1960s and 1970s and are known for their strong power and sporty looks.
The Jeep TJ Wrangler is a type of vehicle that's great for off-roading. It was made in the late 1990s and is known for being tough and able to handle rough terrain.
Brake components are the parts of your car that help it stop, like the pads that press against the wheels. Keeping these parts in good shape is very important for safe driving.
The fuel pump helps move gasoline from the tank to the engine so the car can run. If you let the fuel level get too low, it can damage the pump and be expensive to fix.
Control arms are parts of the car's suspension that help the wheels move up and down while keeping them aligned. There are upper and lower control arms, each serving a specific purpose in the suspension system.
Bushings are small parts made of rubber or plastic that help connect different parts of a car. They make the ride smoother and quieter by reducing noise and vibration.
A manual transmission is a system in a car that lets you change gears by yourself using a stick and a pedal. It gives you more control over how the car drives.
Keeping a vehicle running means taking care of an old car so it doesn't break down. This includes fixing things when they go wrong and making sure it stays in good shape.
The Honda Civic DX is a version of the Civic car that is known for being dependable and good on gas. The 1999 model is part of a series that many people liked for its usefulness.
The Toyota FJ Cruiser is a tough SUV that can handle rough terrain. The 2007 version is the first of its kind and is liked for its unique look and ability to go off-road.
The head gasket is a part of the engine that helps keep oil and coolant separate. If it fails, it can cause big problems for the engine, like mixing fluids that shouldn't be together.
Coolant is a liquid that helps keep the engine from getting too hot. It moves around the engine and radiator to keep everything at the right temperature.
The radiator is a part of the car that helps cool down the engine by letting hot liquid pass through it and cool off before going back into the engine.
Oil consumption means how much oil the engine uses while running. If an engine uses too much oil, it could mean there are problems inside that need to be fixed.
Oil leaks happen when the oil that keeps the engine running smoothly is leaking out. If you see this, it can mean the engine might get damaged if not fixed.
Spark plugs are small parts in the engine that help start the car by creating a spark to ignite the fuel. They need to be replaced after a certain amount of time to keep the engine running well.
An engine misfire happens when the engine doesn't run smoothly because one part isn't working right. This can make the car feel sluggish or cause it to shake.

and a leaf bag folded up to look like a really high-tech laptop for taking notes
on. Those are the things you need and listen up and take some notes if you
miss it. You can find everything you need to connect with us in the biggest
drawer in our toolbox. Everything we talk about, everything we do is located
on our website at carconnectionbusinessnetwork.com. That is the
biggest drawer in our toolbox. On the home page you'll find the logos for all
the program partners that make this podcast or YouTube channel, Facebook,
Instagram, Stevensvilleontheweb.ca. We have a profile page there. Click the
businesses tab and you ask, well, what is Stevensvilleonthewebthingy.ca? Well,
our videographer lives in Stevensville, Skippy, and my parents live in
Stevensville for almost 40 plus years. And I just love the town. I love the
people. I love the foodies there. There's all kinds of things for you to do. So our
Skippy decided years ago to create a website where you could tie in the
businesses with the community, the people of the community. How cool is that? So
they put us a profile page there because we're unofficial Stevensvilleonians.
Something like that. Yeah, so you'll find us there in all kinds of great eateries
and lots of family owned and operated businesses in the town of Stevensville
including that's where you'll find Safari Niagara. Make sure you get your summer
2006 Pasaporte to get in there. Great place to take the kids for the day. All
kinds of activities going on and no, they don't pay for this podcast. It's just a
really big draw into the town of Stevensville. So some great eateries, lots
of businesses there for you to enjoy. There's a Tim Ho there as well. They got
it all. They got it happening there. Our iHeart radio link is also on the top
right hand corner of our homepage along with our car connection store. So
there's merchandise available for you there and proceeds go to help those who
are struggling with addiction get to a total freedom addiction campus in
Canada and USA. So thanks a bunch for helping out with that and get yourself
some really cool gear. Make sure you grab a limited edition car connection
coffee mug or you can call it your morning beverage thingy. Whatever works
for you. Well we got a ton of things to get through this morning and first and
foremost it's always best to say thank you to our program partners that make
all those platforms available to you that we are on. As I mentioned YouTube we
have almost 200 teaching videos up there teaching you all the basic
fundamentals of vehicle ownership and always teach the same five things. You'll
learn in every video what it is, where it is, how it works, how it breaks and what
could you have done to understand some basic fundamentals to prevent yourself
from having to pay for needless repairs. And if you're looking to keep your
vehicle long term and make that engine transmission sing like a harp for 300,
400 or 600,000 kilometers and keep that vehicle as long as you can then you are
on the right channel and you are on the right YouTube channel as well. That's
what I teach. So whether you don't know the difference between a wheel nut and a
hubcap it's just fine. That's perfect. You are the person we're looking for. So
if you're that person that's saying hey honey this is the last car we're gonna
own for quite some time. There ain't no money in the basket honey. Exactly. That's
how I can help you do it. You're hanging on to the right guy, the right channel and
all the right platforms to connect with us. So thank you to Crystal Ridge Dream
Center, a non-profit faith-based organization helping and serving men,
women, single moms, children and young adults, older adults and seniors, meals,
love and hope and changing lives one at a time in the Niagara region. Take a look.
Click on their link below their logo and take a look at what they do there in the
community and I love for 31 years being on radio attaching ourselves to local
non-profit faith-based organizations to make awareness and perhaps maybe somehow,
some way you find yourself wanting to get involved. So just click on their link you can
donate each month or week or one time and or donate some of your time become one of their
61 plus volunteers. How cool is that? That is really cool to see what they do with the kids
after school programs single mom programs and it's all free and available to you and they don't
get any outside financial help whatsoever. They have to do the fundraising themselves
to provide those programs and I tell you they feed these kids after school, they love on them,
they help them and mentor them with their homework and they have activities like chocolate bingo,
yeah and music classes so they can learn an instrument as well all that and more under
one roof. Thank you to Earl and Louise Grant at City Auto Sales and Leasing, the Greater

single mom's van coming in next week in a senior that needs brakes all around and we're not able
to buy the parts we when we get monetized we'll be able to do that we'll be able to provide the parts
and maybe some parts outlets that I've dealt with having my own shop on the Hamilton mountain for
years we can knock on their doors and say hey come and support us would you come alongside and be a
partner with our car connection workshop so your help the small piece that you can help us with is
to subscribe comment like share ring the bell be notified when the new videos go up and get us to
a thousand quickly so that we can get monetized we're almost at four thousand hour viewing hours
every moment counts so thank you thank you thank you so much for hearing me out on that because
we have not because we asked not and that's the direction we're going our other vision is to be
also be able to as a team of fellas that I know put together a muscle car one a year and offer it
up as a draw buying by from buying merchandise on our store you'll get a ticket or two depending
on what package of merchandise you buy and all the logistics for that are all being sorted out and
we do have attorneys that are going to come alongside and help us with all that as well so
we'd like to be able to once a year raffle off a muscle car and proceeds going to a non-profit
faith-based organizations in our very own backyard we just pull out the cost to build the the net cost
to build the car or truck whatever it may be and use that to purchase the next one and just keep
the ball rolling so thank you for that as well that's our vision that's our long-term vision
and the only way we can get there is with your help and your support so thank you
so much for that ahead of time like and follow us on all the platforms that we're involved with
iHeart radio we're on all the podcast platforms all the big ones iHeart radio spotify amazon apple
and wherever you're getting your podcasts from just type car connection business
car connection workshop too many things to remember car connection workshop and our youtube
channel is nile motormouth jankins but the link all the links are on our homepage top right hand
corner so what are we going to jump into where do we start where do we start on this the real
cost of ignoring small car problems and i'll tell you the videos to watch
we plucked a 1997 jeep tj wrangler out of a truck wrecking yard in niger on the lake
all kinds of stuff in this yard and we were in there and they had trailers in their house trailers
and motorhomes we were plucking some parts and picking up some skids there and that were given
to us by the owner through a con through our contact which would happens to be uh dav gremo at
niger block said you need to go meet george and we did and i'm walking around in the yard having
a look around and i found this 1997 jeep tj wrangler in there just kind of amongst all the big stuff
it looked like a little dinky toy and i looked it over and i said to the owner i said any chance we
can have that to rescue it and he gave it to us so we put that vehicle back together it's not a
restoration it's a rescue and everything that we have done to that vehicle we're wrapping it up
right now we're just about finished just a few small things take care of and there's some other
things i'll take care of in the summer uh i don't really like to weld in the shop so i've got to put
a torque box on the driver's side because the windshield leaks so bad it took some of the floor
out on the driver's side but the frame and everything's good everything we've been fixing
and servicing on that vehicle for over a year is all because of neglect that's where i'm going with
right from how did it end up in the wrecking yard is all on it's all documented on our youtube channel
and you'll learn a lot of stuff about an autumn that little automobile that because of neglect
that's what put it there because ignoring telltale signs that there are problems that's what put it
there and then the final death blow they blew the motor up and there's a reason behind that and that
is all documented you get to see every ounce of what happened brought to the videos so we're
right like i said we just boxed up all the parts we had left over and i've put them up in storage
until the spring we'll do a jeep garage sale for anybody out there who's looking to restore or fix up
97 to 2006 jeep tj wrangler we'll have a lot of parts available for you some of them we're
going to give away so it'll be like first come first serve so wait for that we have a new project
coming in i've got a couple of things tucked away and just deciding whether we do some engine work
and see if it runs and bring it back to life it's been in storage for a while or we have another one
that needs a little a bunch of maintenance and we have all the parts and everything stored away
for that and so i'm going to keep you in suspenders on that one which one will it be hey send me an
email nile motormouth jankins would you like to see some engine work and some maintenance on one
particular vehicle 1971 i won't tell you what it is 1971 the other one needs a clutch radiator
and a bunch of service and that's from that vehicles from california it's 1992 so let me know
in the email which one would you like to see the 71 needs some engine work and some other
front end work and other components go through the cooling system timing belt water pump a whole
pile of stuff that you can learn from and on the other car same thing we got to pull the
transmission there's a bent something or other in the clutch on the uh pressure plate and the
clutch is really hard to push you can shift it but i'll tell you the pedal you almost have to
foot it because something's bent in the pressure plate and the fingers on the pressure plate so
transmission's got to come out do a clutch but we have a ton of other stuff to do to it tune up
oil change radiator fuel filter and the list goes on and on brakes shocks and we got everything for
that to do that so let me know which one would you like to see which one send an email to nile
at ccb usnet.com or you can use my gmail which is motormouth all one word dot jenkins
at gmail.com motormouth.jenkins at gmail.com well here's what happens and this is you know the
the tj wrangler is a prime example of just letting this go now letting that go and i'll just give you
a few items that pop in my head that we've had to take care of brakes front and back all of it
calipers rotors pads wheel cylinders hold down kits spring kits emergency brake cables brake lines
fuel lines fuel pump neglect again and probably from running the fuel way too low you don't want
to run your fuel tanks below half you're burning your fuel pump out and that's a big expense especially
on some of these vehicles to get the tank out it's like they put that in first and then they built
everything else around it what else did we get into we got into well we had to change the engine
we had to find one first because rebuilding the one in there it was totally destructed my friends
at the machine shop niger falls said nope that thing is done see if you can find another one
and through some of the jeepsters and some of the firefighters i know that surf the interwebs
found us one and i went out to toronto and got it what a what a nice motor did we get out of wassega
beach let me tell you was a donor and it was another gentleman that was fixing one of his own
he didn't need the engine so we posted it and one of my friends found it on on uh what is it
facebook marketplace called the guy made a deal went out there and picked it up and met a really
nice guy and fella and brought it back to the shop and we went through that whole motor and we show
you that but every single thing we've touched uh sway bar links upper and lower control arms and
bushings uh front drive shaft was seized from lack of grease and we had to rebuild it so we
rebuilt it and it's ready to drop back in but i have one more thing i want to do in that two things
weld in the torque box on the driver's side patch up the floor weld it up nice and tight and right
and drop the lower pan that gives us access to the manual transmission and the transfer case and
it's all packed with mud and stones and gravel and whatnot so i want to blast that off outside then
put it on the hoist and drop that pan do a service and check everything in in that area and uh we're
well on our way so exhaust we have put some custom exhaust on it um oh yeah the heater system the
electricals the whole steering column was all all the wiring was ripped apart i put all that back
together ignition switch just going through all these things that they just neglected most of
the lights weren't working some was wiring some was just neglect and um yeah watch the videos
you'll see how fast a year makes now i could have put that vehicle back together much faster
but i wanted you our youtube channel visitors and subscribers to see the journey of getting something
taking something from nothing and turning it into something and at the end of this whole
project i am going to show you what that costs because even some of my friends are saying
to other friends and then word get back to me hey so-and-so i was overseeing so-and-so and he
said boy you ever packing some money into that vehicle and i go really what is he looking in
the file folder for the vehicle probably not so then when i was over there i said oh so-and-so
said uh you thought i was packing a lot of money into that vehicle i said well you'll be able to
make a guess on how much that is when it's done and i said it's going to be done very early summer
once we get the last couple of things done then i'll do the big reveal what did it cost
and many of you are going to be absolutely blown away to get in a new Jeep today
fifty eight thousand dollars that's what it's going to cost you before taxes freight shipping
pdi and interest and monthly payments for the next seven years it's going to be more like sixty
seven thousand dollars for the first year yeah we're not even close we don't we're not even
the cost of the vehicle at this point right now to bring it back to life and rescue it from the
pressure we're not even a fraction of that and everything is done right and tight next let's
talk about this and and this is this is how i bring this tj wrangler this set 97 rescue
you to a head everything i just told you is all snowball failures that's what put it there
saying well i'm not going to put any money into that well i'm going to leave that for now
oh i don't really need that it's not going to bother me if it doesn't work
and it just keeps going on and the list gets bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger until
it gets to a point where you just say i'm done i'm not putting any more money into it and then
you get into something else but what happens then you start the cycle again the same cycle
letting things go and they snowball again it you will get to that exact same point
where the vehicle is not worth the repairs and i say this yeah go to the car lot
on a sunday afternoon go through the drive-thru get a snack get a hot beverage and just go for
a little wander and take a look at how much that's going to cost for you to get into another
vehicle and start that same process all over i call it the never never plan you never really
own a vehicle because you're always paying for it and by the time you pay it off you got to jump
into another one but here's the kicker what if your wife says to you comes to you one day and
says honey we're out of money that old car in the driveway we got to make that sucker last because
we don't have the money to finance and get another one what happens then and a lot of families right
now are in that predicament and that's where i hope that our car connection workshop when we get
monetized we'll be able to help some of those families keep that jalopy going because you know
what folks it doesn't matter how old it is it doesn't matter if it has 300,000 400,000 600,000
miles on it if it's been loved and taken care of you can keep that vehicle as long as you want
and who cares what it's worth sitting on the edge of the road i don't care if it's a $500 car
or it's valued at 1500 but if it's paid for and it's solid everything else is replaceable
we've proved that on this 97 Jeep TJ Wrangler we've proved it be on the shadow of a doubt you can
bring it back from the brink and put money in your pocket all at the same time then what do you do
then be a really good caregiver of that vehicle and you treat it like it is the last one you're
ever going to be able to buy because you got no money you got no money 74 over 74 percent of the
Canadians out there right now are less than $200 from being bankrupt what's that old car worth
i don't drive anything new 99 Honda Civic DX looks like new i bought it off the original owner
and she took excellent care of it listened to our car connection radio broadcast for over 26 years
and followed everything i mentioned to the letter
and then i was approached if i wanted to buy it i'm like yes done 319,000 k we're gonna hit 400,000
probably not this year next year in 2027 our 07 Toyota FJ Cruiser is gonna hit 400,000 this year
and no it's not a pile of junk i take care of it why because i treat it like it's a fleet vehicle
and i treat it as though that's the last one i'm ever going to be able to buy
that's what i do that's what i do with all my stuff i am not one that likes to just spend
money because i neglected something that's not one how i was raised that's not how i was trained
as a technician we were trained by a military expert mechanic do the job do it right and tight
every time and do it right right to the nut no skipping anything and we did fleet service
on some huge companies in the Hamilton Wentworth area you don't miss anything because as soon as
everything we did and if we missed something we may not get the tender next time
and that takes business away from the shop so what i'm teaching you on our podcast and on
our youtube channel you follow it you'll save money i am not one that wants to pay interest
and principal to the banks on the never never plan and you know what you don't have to it's a decision
that's all it is it is a decision if it's solid and it's not rusted out you got something to work
with i'll tell you what that vehicle that you think is it has no value has a lot of value to
a family that's financially struggling and they just lost their car it got repossessed
there's lots of them out there that's what's happening
let's talk about a $50 sensor turning into a $5,000 engine again that Jeep TJ Wrangler
you know what blew the motor up neglect looking after the cooling system yep that's what did it
blew two holes and two pistons the size of a golf ball and you can see that on our youtube
channel on the videos i share that with you that's what killed it that was the death blow
so how do i know that well from there was lots of telltale signs we didn't think the
the engine would be broken that bad but it was destroyed and it was all because
a head gasket started to leak and put coolant into the engine so the engine would have had to
have been running hot and pushing the coolant temperature way up and the coolant would have
to have been getting pushed out by exhaust gases getting into the radiator into the cooling system
it should have been blowing blowing up like Moby Dick and they ignored it and they ignored it
and they ignored it and they probably just kept topping up the antifreeze so now they're booting
down the road the head gasket let's go completely fills two cylinders in the engine up with coolant
you can't compress a liquid friends and blew two pistons a hole the size of a golf ball and that's
not even exaggerating you can see that on the youtube videos on our youtube channel i share that
the top of the radiator where the upper radiator hose goes to was completely blown clean off
it pressurized it over pressurized and that engine let go wherever they were
so if they're they were probably booting down the road when that thing let go and it would have
made quite an explosion let me tell you that's what killed it neglecting the cooling system which is
the number one most neglected system on anything out there on the road vehicles are not maintenance
free friends they are not and when you treat it like that you're listening to the white noise and
the talking heads that have sucked you in to what i call the automotive repair and service game
they don't want you to keep your car they don't want you to keep it long term they don't want
you to look after it they want you in a new one every three to five years so you keep paying
yeah that's where they want you so fifty dollars can be the difference between the engine lives or
it doesn't fifty dollars can turn into a five thousand dollar engine repair in a heartbeat
misfires engine misfires big clues something's going on coolant leaks oil leaks oil consumption
these are all telltale signs that serious things are going wrong and when you simply ignore it
your vehicle will end up just like that 97 jeep tj wrangler in the wrecking yard in fact
skippy and i are my videographer we went into uh one of those u-pullet centers in st catharines
we needed to go harvest parts and my videographer was blown away by the number of vehicles in there
where they're not rotted out you could literally pluck it out of there and get it back on the road
take care of the neglect got yourself a really nice ride for next to nothing
she was absolutely blown away going come and look at this one motorbike take a look at this one
this thing's beautiful yeah i said you know what put it here neglect that's why it's here
neglect can't be bothered fixing stuff well then get used to making payments you know running
like a hamster on a wheel run run run run run get off lick the ball get a pellet jump back on
and do that monday through saturday home to work home to work home to work home to work
get off the wheel lick the little ball get a pellet jump back on that's what happens
so misfires engine misfires spark plugs are not maintenance free spark plugs
do not last 125 000 kilometers and if you run them that far good luck getting them out
because when they break off now we got to take the whole motor apart to get the spark plugs
out of cylinder heads did you save any money no you listen to the white noise and the sales guy
that says oh no those are those plugs are good for 200 000 and 225 000 k you don't have to service
that that's the itching and tickling of the years that's the game that's what they want you to believe
because they know they're going to win the game and get that vehicle you're going to have to get
rid of it and buy another one and make payments again payments and interest you know we've gone from
car loans that were three years to five years now seven years you're going to make payments
and interest payments holy smokes i can't even imagine that i am not this guy i'm not interested
in that that does not interest me whatsoever that's why i know what trucks are capable and vehicles
are capable of in fleets of turning 600 000 miles and there's still lots of vehicle left
that's how they're profitable that's exactly how they do it
that's what i do i work on the same fleet maintenance schedule that i'm teaching you
guys about and it will put a lot of money back in your wallet so misfires coolant leaks
oil consumption oil leaks fluid leaks why is it that owners delay repairs i'm not sure exactly
44 years in the automotive service and repair business i really can't answer that because
i can't wrap my head around the price that you folks pay for vehicles and then you treat it
like you have a never-ending wheelbarrow that replenishes itself with cash every day
and shows up at your front door i can't wrap my head around paying 67 000 for a new jeep
and then treating it like a piece of garbage that you you know you just okay let's just get rid of
it and get something else and keep paying you still got a gas and oil it you still got a service
the thing you're paying insurance on it i cannot wrap my head around that help me with that would
you because if you had 67 $1000 bills sitting on your kitchen table would you leave the room
that's the question i have for you so that's why i just can't seem to see the value in paying all
that money out and by the time you finish paying for it there's nothing left of it
that i can't i cannot fathom that simply can't on anything whether it's a snow lower a ride on
tractor a weed wacker a chainsaw a car a snowmobile a boat would jet skis whatever it is
if you neglect it long enough it's over it's over and then you don't use generally
from what i've seen and having a shop on the Hamilton mountain for 11 years is lots of intense
moments of fellowship between husband and wife in the waiting area trying to figure out how they're
going to pay to get that car that they can't afford to replace that they've abused and neglected
back on the road exactly i i can't wrap my head around that whatsoever so i'm here to help you
grab hold of my coattails you have questions or anything you'd like me to cover
