Suckerman. As usual, he won't defer to my entertainment production experience, but he's
finally, as I finally tamed him, I have to, he's like he's a tiger and it's what we love
about him. He's a very, he's a very dynamic performer, but you got to whip him before the show.
And also, you know, these two are going to defer to my two decades of car review experience.
Just kidding. Just kidding. Oh, yeah. So you do. That's why you're here. It all works. That's
truth is he can't do the show without yelling first. Everybody knows I'm the parent here.
Everybody knows everybody. Everybody. The phrase hurting cats. You're my cats. Yeah. But
you're but I, but I feel like who are those two guys in Vegas that had the tiger show? Yeah,
and eventually what happened? Roy had eaten. Yeah. And was supposedly alive for some period of
time. What a while. Yeah. But did he die? Did he really die from the tiger? Oh, yeah, yeah.
But he was, he was dead, but still somehow alive. Wow. For some period of time,
kept like more like a stuffed animal in the house. Oh, yeah. Well, that's a part. I heard he
did live for. Was that living? This is easily Googleable. But I think people have come here
for the car talk. Oh, yeah. We can check it. And we do. We have tons of cars to get to tonight.
This is a very cary episode of Spike's car radio. I think the biggest news we have is this car
behind me right here, which is the Chick-Iverson Orange 356 that's just been acquired by Suckerman.
Wow. I think we talked about it in the audio show that's on Patreon. If you want to go back
and subscribe to Patreon and go look at that, we're Jerry discussed this deal in the show with
Suckerman. And in the meantime, we've taken delivery of the car and here it is. It's right behind us,
which is pretty wild. And we'll take a look at it. I guess we can break a camera off right now and
look at it and go through. I think I wanted to cover a lot about who Chick-Iverson was and I have a
lot of information about that. There was some information about his son, which I don't think we
have correct, but I now know is the correct information. And you've driven the car and you can
tell us about it and how it works. But the headline here is, and I think Johnny, you noticed it right
away. This is, we believe, the most original 356 preservation low mileage car in the world.
Even Gianni, who brought it over said, who works with Jerry, can I still come here to check
the other 356's because this car is as it was when it came out of the factory and it's perfect
paint and benchmark and benchmark. What's the mileage? Well, let's get into all of it.
Johnny, you've just had a look and you had a lot of questions about it. I believe the mileage is
7,000 miles. Just over 7,000 miles. About 72 hundred. Johnny, you also said, well, let me just
back up one second. Chick-Iverson was a dealer in Orange County. Newport Beach. Newport Beach.
And this car sat in his showroom and was never registered. Was never titled. Never titled.
Never titled. And never registered. Because the color really, why not? It was one of two cars I
happen to know because I was there when it got delivered. There was also a Carmen Gia in the same
exact orange in the same exact condition that Jerry, I think sold maybe 10 years ago. We heard a
story and apparently that story is not quite accurate. It's half accurate. This is the story I got.
The story I got is that this particular shade of Orange was a shade of Orange that Chick-Iverson
had at his dealership kind of the dealership color. Sure.
Some people have said it's like the double yellow lines down the roadway. Be that as it may,
this is a paint-to-sample color. There's a paint-to-sample code on the door sill that doesn't match
up to any other paint code. It just is the denotation of paint-to-sample and it just is listed as
orange. It's just orange. So it's its own unique color. And the story I heard is that Chick ordered
this car and the Carmen Gia for his son to be waiting for the son to return from Vietnam.
Okay. Well, it's not for his son is true. The Vietnam part is not according to the research
that I looked at because he's such a colorful guy. There's so many interesting details and we'll
talk about Chick-Iverson. His son was going to be the owner of this car, took a Jaguar off the
lot one day and drove off a cliff in Laguna on the way to Laguna. And I think if you know those
roads, those ocean roads. Yeah, yeah. Totally. So that's where he had died. Okay.
According to the research that I read from one of his mechanics.
Equally horrible story. I mean, take your choice. He killed in Vietnam, drove off a cliff in
Crystal Coal. Not good. Not good. Whatever. What? This is a 65. This is a 65. So when it comes to
Porsche, what we know at the end of a run of a model is always generally the best version
because it's everything we've learned. Yeah. So here we have the end of the 356 line. A 1965
356 SC. So a twin or you know, quad cam amazing license plate by the way too that you I think
you also have the SC is a push ride engine. It's not a four cam. Oh, I thought double grill was
the four cam. No, but this is, but as the SC, it was the highest horsepower version of a push
ride engine. But when you drive just a regular SC, you go, oh, I can feel everything they've learned
into 350 years. If you've driven the 50s, 356s, you just go, wow, this thing is so together.
Right. Now imagine a level above that because this is brand new. This is the 4.0 of its time.
Right. Yeah. The last hurrah of the. Yeah. Yeah. Right. And I'm bookended. I have the 51,
which is the very first iteration of the 356. The one made in Zufat House. And I have that in the
split window. And it's so primitive. And now 14 years later, 15 years later, this car is so
remarkably advanced. And you can feel it upon the freeway where you drive the 51 on the freeway.
You feel like you're in a death can a piece of tin foil that you'll be folded up in and toss.
And this is a real car. Yeah. And these years and these years are always the ones we like,
right? So this would be 65 and then in 9.11s, right? 73. And then 89 9.11s, you know, at the end,
everything that's the 4.0. Remember the 4.0? Yeah. The perfect car. So that's all there.
Speedster from the 991 was like the perfect rival product. I would kill. You got to let me,
I got to drive the 51 on this back to back. I would maybe, maybe. I'll kill him. I don't know.
That said, we'll see. We'll talk. We might have to indenture Richard.
For a term no less than seven years. Yeah. I haven't even driven this guy. Yeah. I can't
say anything. Like what? What? It's definitely something we're going to, we're going to drive it
some point. We're not going to take my eyes off it. It's remarkable. Orange, you know, it's a color
makes people happy. It's, it's psychologists have always said you want a bar that people aren't
going to fight and you paint it orange. It'd be happy. It's not the best colored look at it. But
the metal work on this is, this hasn't been restored. Never touched. No, no, never touched.
And can you were noticing the door sills? Yeah. These chrome door sills were just dealership
things that were put in by chip, right? Yeah. Just something he liked. I mean, he in the chrome
rims, but did they, did they normally come with chrome rims? They did come with chrome rims
in that year, but this engine turned sale seems to have been a little chick. I was in detail
that he liked on his cars and thinks 60s, California, 65 unique chrome. Yeah. Oh, fantastic.
So it's a time capsule. What is it? Yeah. It's a remarkable car and the seats are leather. Yes,
I believe they're leather. The feel of them. I'd have to look at the car decks, but to my touch,
they're leather. Yeah. I touch them. It feels like leather. Isn't it? You know, it's really a testament
to how deep Seinfeld's collection is that this, like diamond is sitting beneath this pile
of other bigger diamonds. I said, I said, I said, it's like the grapes in the Jello bowl.
It's just at the bottom. It's tasty, but it's down there. So wait, why did, why did Jerry get rid
of this? Well, it's in the show. Oh, you weren't. I wasn't there. I wasn't in somewhere. This
is something that Suckerman has always loved and wanted and Jerry's parting with a couple of cars.
I don't think this car was on the list, but Suckerman expressed interest. Jerry wanted to do him.
Would you say Amit's Fuzz? He did an incredibly generous and kind thing.
Incredibly generous. And I spoke to him the other day about it and I said, I've never seen
Suckerman so happy and that made him feel great. He said, I'm so because he said, before that,
he goes, oh, I keep seeing that orange car. And I said, I know, but what you're not seeing is how
happy Suckerman is. He goes, well, that makes it all worth it. Okay. And I don't know. It is rare
for me as a person and a person of this age to feel elation. If I feel elation, I believe
stroke is coming. There is some kind of brain and function going to happen. I was elated. You were
here that day. Yeah, yeah. I came for it. I wanted to see it. And the first time I went to Jerry's
hangar, this is the first car I saw that that seared into my mind. And I said, wow, that's
the car. And then if you recall, maybe six years ago, there was a small release. And this was on
the list. Small release. Yes, small release. And this was on the list. And then it got pulled back.
It got pulled back. Just look at all of this orange beauty right here. Oh my god. So look,
the stickers and everything. It's not burned off or covered in oil. No, I know this car is just
remarkable. It's a remarkable car. And would you see the materials in the engine bay on the,
you know, the soundproofing and the firewall. Yeah, the kind of texture on those materials in the
color, even a perfect restoration isn't going to quite capture what that stuff is. What's that
little coin like thing on the left air filter there? What is that? I think it's a sticker. No.
Just some vent. I see. You know, you bought like a best of show winner at a major car. Yeah,
yeah, you understand that. You know, as the interior jack just shoot the interior for us so we can
have it on the clock works. Yeah, there you go. And the clock works. That's the biggest thing.
All right. So why was it never sold? I mean, well, it's one of those. It's just one of those
stories like the yellow to car yellow BMW behind us. It's just a weird color. It's got a
dealership. There are two cars there. It just becomes a piece of furniture. And it's just there. And
Chick-Iverson's kind of an interesting guy, Sacramento. Do you know who his best friend was?
John Wayne. Really? Chick-Iverson and John Wayne were best friends. That's why John Wayne was the
best man at his wedding. Really? And then when Iverson passed away, they actually got buried next
to each other. That's a little weird. That's like you and Zuckerman. No, no. Is that like,
we get to push the button on the other guy to cremate the other guy. We're not getting buried next
to each other. Right. I forgot. Sorry. Yeah. That's kind of a love story. But they say here that
according to his mechanic that that John Wayne and Chick-Iverson were like Oprah and Gale. John Wayne
was the godfather to Chick's son who says he died at the age of 21 when he took a used Jaguar off
the lot and ran off the cliff on his way to Laguna. And Iverson was the executor of John Wayne's
estate and controlled all the money for his children. Wow. Did you know they were this tight?
Did you hear any of the story? You know, remember the old story of Carrie Grant in Randolph Scott?
We don't really need to go with it. But I was Jaguar Hoover. But I was quite tall.
Quite tall. I mean, it's Duke and Chick. Here comes Duke and Chick and Chick and Duke. And
slick and Zuck Iverson introduced John Wayne to his wife. It was someone who had worked for
Chick-Iverson. This is crazy town. This is crazy. I had no idea these guys were this time.
You know, John Wayne lived in Newport Beach. That's true. That was John Wayne Country.
Well, to be close to Chick. They were buddies.
Chick-I-baby. They took a boat across a little harbor there. That's right. Yeah,
going about Boa. Getting ice cream. You know, and he only, here's something else kind of
interesting about him. So he had a Porsche dealership and a Volkswagen dealership, right?
And he opened up the Porsche dealership and they wanted to have another manufacturer there.
And his first choice was American Motors.
Chick-Iverson American Motors. So he had the executive come over to his house.
And the executive made a remark that offended his wife. And so he decided to go with Volkswagen.
It's dead. Oh, which is more brand new to this. Obviously. But that was his decision. What was
this remark? It was when the hell was not here. Yeah, I'm saying it was. But that's what I wanted. Let's
speculate. Hey, what's your relationship with John Wayne? Hold on. No, never mind. This is a very
conflict. But then if you look, Porsche had some form of a relationship with
Studebaker in the 1950s, right? Studebaker becomes part of American Motors.
It may be that's the red. Yeah, I don't know. I'm really speculated. But
Chick-Iverson's kind of a fascinating guy. Son of immigrants turned himself into a big deal in
Orange County. Love that. Look at that. That's the story. What? You know in my town on Long Island.
You're a big deal? No, we made a chick, but it was chick's cleaners. And he sponsored the little league.

things. Yes, sir. All right. There have been two interesting Porsche patents filed in the last
few weeks. And I have questions about both of them. One, Porsche has filed a patent for a new W-12
engine. This comes after Bentley. Another VW group company phased out W-12s from its lineup.
What does this tell you, Johnny, as the only accredited on the journalist on our show,
Jeremy journalist? What it tells me is that Audi is working on a new
Horsh. So there's a Q9 that's been running around the Nürburgring. So Q7 is kind of a mid-sized
three row SUV. There's a very big Audi, which is probably the same size as the three row Porsche
SUV that's going to come. They're probably related. The name Horsh is coming back.
German manufacturer in the 1930s. Part of all the very, very elegant cars. So I hear what you're
saying, big luxury. So you probably, if you're going to go against my back, which still has a V-12,
and Rolls-Royce, which still has a V-12, you probably want a 12 cylinder.
Porsche does a lot of engine development for the group. So I believe this would be pure speculation.
W-12 makes no sense in a Porsche. They had the Panamera. They had the Bentley, which had a 12-cylinder
that never put it in the Porsche. You can get just as much energy. What about a halo car, no? Horsh.
If you're going to bring back a brand that nobody like Zuckerman knows of Horsh, you don't know Horsh.
I've heard it, but it sounds like Porsche. I'd rather have the P. You don't want a W-12.
A W-12 is kind of a boat anchor of a sound. No, I know. I think there's a lot of
speculations. Everything you're saying makes sense. There's a lot of speculation that this
is going to some hypercar. I mean, hypercar is generally don't have engines that big, right?
It makes more sense for it to be a big Luxobarge. It would make sense in a Luxobarge.
W-12 is not that calm. It's compact like stern to stern, but it's just so wide.
It's because I don't know how they're going to build it, but I can tell you how they're
going to build it. The W-12 that powered the Bentley Continental GT was essentially two VR-6
engines. Made it together. Porsche's version is a bit more complicated. It has two banks of
cylinders in a V configuration and a third bank sandwiched between them. That's real big. That's
a real wide bump. That's so the V-ron. Yeah, so you can see it's over it's like a hundred degree engine
based on that pattern there. The original V-ron. It's that all I need for a patent, just a little
drunk. Yeah, it was the numbers. Yeah. And I can make my own patent. Let's why don't we patent
an engine? But the, I can't remember, it was the Bentley, I don't know what I was going to say,
Husqvarna, but it's a corner and we'll song with an age. But the original, it was a Bentley,
then it became the V-ron in 99. The idea for the V-ron was a W-18. So it was 666 and 6 configured
like that. That's 444. It's just big and heavy. This, I don't even know what the advantage of
that configuration is, except for a lot of power. So I believe there's a new brand coming to the
Volkswagen Group called Hortch and they want to compete with my buck. Even though they have Bentley,
Bentley has turned into something else. So a brand, so a new brand emerges. I keep hearing that
they're going to bring Hortch, which makes notes like, why not wanderer? Why not DKW, but they're
bringing back Hortch, which is, it's up, it's my buck something that needs to be competed with.
Yeah, they're selling. They are. They're by lowering a price. Yeah, they're really good. They are
really great. I want to hate them every time I drive them and I fall in love with them. I've got
something close to one here today that we can kind of talk about. It's like 10% more than an AMG
get like Bentley and Rolls Royce vibes out of it. So Audi wants to do that. So I think if I had
to speculate, this is for an Audi. It's not going to look, your favorite word is up there on the screen.
Can you see it? Plenum. Plenum. Plenum. The intake board is connected to an air plenum.
Well, that's how you do it. That's what you do with plenums. I have to say these giant
engines maybe three or four years ago, I'd be like, oh, they're kind of gross. Now, I love them.
They're really fun. I don't know if it's just like a reaction to driving so much electric and this
is the complete opposite of that, but they're fun. You heard a Thorsten Weblum. No, theory of the
leisure class. He's a Wisconsin economist, University of Wisconsin. So he said, he said when electric
lights were new and only the wealthy could afford them, that was a very romantic way to eat. Then,
when poor people had electric lighting, they could also afford candles. That is true. So when now
that everybody is saying, now that everybody can have a light tree, yeah, I need a 12 cylinder again.
Not just like an oddity. They're just kind of an oddity. I just like seeing the 12 on the side of
the car too. Also, second patent, Porsche files, tunnel mode, a feature that automatically detects
approaching tunnels using cameras and GPS then opens the windows, downshifts at least one gear,
and opens the active exhaust valves and engages sports mode to maximize the flat-six's glorious
acoustic symphony echoing off concrete walls. I'm going to go commit suicide. That's so lame.
This is what you do as a person. You need a car to do this for you. Anybody who enjoys driving knows
you're getting to a tunnel. I did this last week. Yes, of course. This is the guy who put the MT
manual transmission sticker on the 911. Right. Hey, Boris, you got any other brilliant ideas? Oh,
yes. I think it's kind of fun. I mean, to me, red is kind of the first fun thing Porsche has done
in a long time that doesn't feel like Porsche. It's some German. It's some German guys. You just don't
like it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's like rev match downshifting. So just learn to
fucking drive me in like, come on. No, it's not that people don't know how to do it. This is
way. Now you're upset. You guys are really upset. I can imagine the number of dildos that are
going to be driving 994 going down Canaan. And they're automatically revving, you know, it's just
a button. Now you can just do it to a button. It'll be automatically on. Look, I'm with you guys.
I did, I did this. I was driving with my other son teaching him how to drive. And, and we did
this manually. And it was fun. Does it honk? No, but the PD, the PDK button kind of does it for you
automatically. They're just, I think they're just, you know, giving a road map for dentists.
I, yeah. I like the W12. It's, it's okay. It got news. It got press. Yeah. That's a good thing. I
mean, that's the best part of that solely. It is. Okay. In that way. Kind of. Blam.
We should have been a tunnel. Where's the tunnel? Speaking of last bit of portion news. And,
again, about German jokes in cars. Okay. And I know. And I'm not ready. I mean, look, I was ready
to let 963 cup holder gate go because I know nobody wants to hear about it. I've received
yet another message from another one of my sources who said, Hey, it sounds like you already heard
that you're going to be right about this, this 963 road going car that Porsche will put into
production that does have a cup holder. But I just wanted to tell you, here's what the sky,
right? I was just about to send you the update on cup holder gate. But it looks like you're already
there in case you need another source. Yes. Porsche showed off a 918 replacement at an inventory
meeting recently. It's a hybrid and LMP T2 inspired 963. And it will almost certainly have a
cup holder that you spoke of. So I'm just saying now two sources are telling me you're completely wrong.
What was wrong? I am completely right. No one would map it. I don't care. But let me remind you,
though. Okay. Oh, no. Please, no. You said they weren't going to make a road going 963. And I
said it looks, I think they're absolutely going to do. And this is what that design exercise was.
And we can just leave it at that. One of us is going to pull out of that. Sure. Porsche is not building
it. Multimatics building. I was actually talking to some people this weekend. So it's going to be built
in Canada, not in Germany. Yeah. Well, Multimatic. So wait, are you new about this? I remember the thing
you said we don't have time to talk about today. I was going to tell you all about it. But, uh,
well, no, we're talking about it right now. We are. So you have some really rich guys I met. Yes.
We're like, oh, yeah, they're going to put it into production. And it's going to be
multi-matic. How many of they're making? Well, I don't know. They didn't say that. But they just say,
but Multimatic makes the race car. So it just makes sense. They just make a street version of it.
So yeah, that doesn't sound like regular production line 18 program. Does it? It will be,
well, Multimatic builds the S and Martin Valkyrie. They built the AMG once. They do these small GTD.
GTD. How many GTDs did they make? I don't know. But the four GTs have been in production since 2018,
17. Right. So they aren't big enough to make a couple thousand. Yes. Oh, yeah. Well,
I wouldn't go that high. But yeah, so I'm worried. It's probably 963. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No.
So then you would agree to me that that road going exercise was actually a breadcrumb trail
to a car that they're making. Breadcrumb trail. I, uh, okay. Sure. I guess a correlation. Don't hit
the table coincidence. Yellow over here in the table. The list was, it wasn't coincident. It was,
like, this is what we're going to do. And now they're doing it. They always do that. They always do
something like that. But it's, they like to surprise. They do ugly. I look at the Cadillac. Look at
the Aston, look at the Lamborghini LMP. I don't think it's about attractiveness so much as it being
exotic and having some back to Viblin. We're back to the, the leisure cars. Oh, you're cars not a race
car. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, we were just a second ago talking about these Luxo barges. Why don't we
talk about this Mercedes that I have the S63? This is the Mercedes AMG S63 E performance in the most
beautiful color of any press car. That's right, Johnny. Corks blue. Isn't this blue stunning?
I love it. Suckerman, you and I, you're going to drive this car and Patreon, take it around the
block. And I, I, I think this is the perfect car for you. This is just a GTA 6 Suckerman
for sure. What do we have? 160, 186,000, 240,000 as tested. It's got this incredible executive rear seat
package that we'll look at in a minute. 18,000 dollars in their seat options. The best sound
system of any car I've ever driven ever. This four-myster 4D system they have with thumping seats,
right? Yeah, there's a lot for their seats back. Yeah, I don't want to listen to music without it.
I don't know if Suckerman's going to end up liking that or not, but I absolutely love listening to
this car, listen to music in this car. It's got 800 horsepower, about 15 miles of that 16-R EV
miles. Back up for a second. It has 800 horsepower, but it has 1555 pound-feet of torque.
54, foot of torque. Excuse me, excuse me. Wow. 060 when it's engaged in full sport mode or track
mode is 2.6 seconds is the fastest time. It's a four-liter bi-turbo V8. What do you do? So here,
the headline on this car is a luxury performance car. And I didn't quite know like around town,
like you can put it in comfort mode instead of sport plus mode or an EV mode and leave your neighborhood
because it's got those quiet miles and listen to music. But it's still you can feel the performance
car in it. And I was like, I'm not sure how I'm going to use this thing. It's like, I say,
like a minus around town, but not an a plus because it's not my bokeh in its comfort. So just
thinking that, get on the 405 this morning. I won't tell you how fast I was going and how smooth
it felt. And I saw what the car was right in that moment. I saw a performance luxury,
I have not had such a quiet, smooth highway driving experience ever. I was shocked at the
acceleration and the silence. Like, document, you would, when you go down to Mexico, you would
love this. This thing is, you could just fall asleep and you can't kidnap and seven minutes.
Oh my god. And it's, you know, if you were a commuter and you wanted something that performed,
but was also, I mean, it really is an interesting new idea for a car, right?
Well, it's, that 63 has been around for a long time. This one just, but not like this because of
the electrification on the rear axle. It's just so over the top in terms of torque. Yeah.
And that's what your experience is. It's just like this wave of torque. I was just, even a Mercedes,
I had this car for a week before you did, but even a Mercedes PR guy said to me, we could have done
a better integration of the electric motor and the gas engine on the rear axle. It's a little choppy.
Yep. But I took three of my buddies. We went down to see the chargers beat the Vikings.
I put the six foot five inch guy in the rear seat. Because again, that rear seat package
isn't saying it's unbelievable. It's a private jet package in the back with three sets of screens.
Richard was so in love with watching YouTube in the back seat. He just sat there, his own personal
private jet experience. And it's, it's funny because you're right. It's not a my block,
but it because of that $18,000 executive rear seat plus package or whatever it is. It's,
it's, it's my box for the back seat. It's a my block without the badging. Yeah. And so if you,
if you wanted, Richard shaking his head back there, but I wanted to make the point of someone
who was going to buy this car and didn't want my buck badging, this is bad. It's like, it's
almost like they just took all the my box stuff out, but gave you everything else. And you
save $11,000. Yeah. Yeah. It's really great. I mean, and you know, this color is mind-boggling.
What did you make of the interior? And I asked because take us inside, Jack. That's not
the interior color. It's like, it's like a brick kind of orange. We're going to look at it right
now. I thought, you know, I'm not sure I appreciated that it wasn't black. Yeah. I liked it. Oh,
yeah, the door handles are so stupid. There we go. Yeah. British people hate it. And I said,
two different British people say, I hate the color. They're really like, and I go, what?
And they said, it looks like all the council flats in London. Oh, that's funny.
Free public housing. Yeah. And I'm like, I like it even more. I didn't get free public housing.
No, it doesn't look like free any $40,000 car. I mean, everything works great. And it, you know,
show the seats, Jack. The seats are just so good. Here you go. See that puffy pillow right there?
That you feel and it's fantastic. You know, obviously you can configure this car anywhere you
like. You know, it's those little, see where the seat belt goes in there. They light up.
It's another disco light show in this thing. You've got so many, so much light going on.
The only negative is this Hay Mercedes bullshit. Oh, they got to kill that. Yeah.
Because you know, you're in the car talking about the Mercedes and it comes on to go. Oh,
you might say, they ladies or can I help you? Yeah. Or or cute babies. And they can't even take
the insult. When you go, shut the fuck up. Hey, Mercedes, they go, I'm sorry. Please repeat. Yeah.
Goes into that mode. But aside from that, it's fantastic. It's great. It's a fantastic thing.
And Mercedes, you know, between that and the, uh, what was the car that we had in the my
box convertible we had? Oh, yeah. The monogram edition. Yeah. I liked it. They're doing these
mashups. These cars are really interesting mashups. And I actually called the Mercedes rep.
And I said, I really like everything you guys are doing. I'm liking these cars a lot.
A lot. You guys look like you're having a lot of fun. I hope you're selling a lot of them.
They're cool. And real quick, back to quartz blue. So China blue is the hot Mercedes car for two
years. Now, everyone's g-wagon in L.A. is China blue. Yeah. Quartz blue. Quartz blue is the
better. Look at all the seat option. Oh, the only thing I don't get and the only thing I don't like
besides the rear axle. For some stupid reason that you have to pull a switch to open the fuel door.
It's like on the hybrid. They pressurize it and it's annoying because every, what I love, you know,
all luxury German cars, you never have to pull a thing. You just push to open. It does make it a
little more luxurious though. I kind of like that. I like that. When you push, it does, when you
push on those, they normally feel a little cheap. Toyota's and Subaru's, you got to pull the thing
for the gas valve. So it's a small thing, small thing. Anyway, it's a fantastic car. Let's talk about

simple. Here's a bit of news that you guys may already know or may not know, and that came by way
of our friend Dan Neal at Wall Street Journal and then on to Gelopnik. Why do porches have the
ignition on the left? Why do porches have the ignition on the left? Lamont, Lamont start. The story
that was thrown out, the narrative that was thrown out was it facilitated faster starts in pre-1970
Lamont races, and it's malarkey. It's bullshit. It's not true. The real story came from Dan Neal,
who then went to the Porscher Museum curator, Klaus Bischoff in 2008, and he told Neal that left
of wheel key placement in the 1948 Porscher 356 001, the first road legal Porscher. I drove that.
Was simply to save wire. The Porscher operated out of a former sawmill in Gamund, Austria,
and 200 grams of wire was a genuine savings, and therefore that's why the key is on the left
suckerment. There you go. So why hasn't Porscher told the real story? They told the world,
what two? Wait, you spoke at the same time. What? We get back to world, what two? Why was wire so
hard to come by in 1940? Why was Dr. Porscher in prison? Yes. What had the use all that electrical
wire for? Where was it all? So it's just a no-brainer. One is a more, it's a better story. It's a better
marketing. A positive portion. But it's not true. It's a lie. When you go to the Porscher Museum, why
is it, you know, you start in like 1899. He's making that hybrid car in all this history.
In 1939, in 1947, just nothing happened. So you think this is all just to cover that up. It's
just like, if you asked me for my assessment of the reason. Yes. Yes, it takes you too close to
that period. It doesn't make it any less interesting to me. It's just whatever, you know, I didn't,
we're getting far enough away. No, I just made a fiber to choose between the two things. I guess,
yeah, Le Mans starts is kind of cool. Yeah. That of them we use all the electrical wire around
camps in another two. Yeah. But do you think, let's imagine a Le Mans start. You got to get in.
What are the things you have to do? Do you have to put your seat belt on? But you do have seat belts.
But they, you would have, you know, you're putting it in gear and you're starting the car. So,
you know, two hands, whereas starting the car and then putting it in first gear or whatever,
you know, putting it lower in the brake or something. It kind of makes some. So,
in a Le Mans start, your car had to be in neutral. I don't know what it was in. I have no idea.
But there was no safety harness at all. I mean, not really. They got flung out. It was the car.
You wanted to get flung out. I think I've read accounts where guys were trying to get their belt
and safety harness while they were on that first lap. Like, that was the last thing that they did
in motion. And if it didn't work, they were just. I know in the 60s or 50s especially,
you really wanted to get thrown out of the car's crazy sound because the cars would just
taco around you if you actually hit something. And you'd just be in the middle of like a folding metal
taco. I see. I see. Being on fire and getting thrown out was good. Getting thrown out was preferable
to being trapped and getting burned to death. Here's another story that also caught my eye that I
think will upset you as much as it did to me. It was on TMZ just the other day. And it was our
friend. And we can play the clip and you guys can listen. Christian Ronaldo talking about
what he does with his car collection. Here, just play the beginning of this. Sometimes up, okay,
let's say three days ago, I buy a car, but it's for collection. It's like you buy a frame.
I'm not going to drive that car. It's like investment. I have Mercedes as well. I buy
Bugatti as well. But it's investment. How many cars have you got?
The face. When asked if you have to bet, I say I don't know. All right, you can stop it right there.
So this guy buys these cars and never drives them. And he goes on to talk about their investments.
And he doesn't look at them. Well, it is. There is a small part I think of people who collect cars
who think this way. And it's just so cold. I mean, what's what's lovely about our tribe is
we're drivers. And this car, Zacherman, that's very valuable car. Very original. You're going to
you just drove it in here today. Yes. The the car yellow, no mile at BMW. We drive that. We drove
it on the show. That's the only way to live in my opinion. What's the point? What's the point?
Anyway, we also have one more car to talk about. And I think you can see it. Everything's backwards.
Look at this thing. You've been looking at it all show. And this is one of those shows where we're
going to talk about the cars that we see behind us. It's a little white BMW with a manual gear
box that's Zacherman just picked up while he was getting this other one. Let's look at that car.
I don't think we looked at the car in front of it either. There's always. Yeah, we'll get to the
21. Yeah. Well, we'll get to the other car after that. All right, Zacherman.
Now, this was here when you were taking delivery of the 356 orange car. And I said,
what is this? You go, I just picked this one up to you, but two cars at once. What is this car?
It was you had a really good story about it. Okay. This is this is a Z3 M coupe. Right. And if
you recall in the mid in the mid 90s or a little earlier, there was a Z3, a little small BMW
cabriolade called the Z3. Yep. And at the time, that was kind of considered to be a girl's car.
Girls BMW. Yeah, yeah. If you recall, great though. And so the engineers at BMW wanted to make
a more powerful car on that platform, but there was an issue with, I think, virginity, right?
Leave them in and they did do a convertible, but they I mean, so just I know a way too much about
the clowns shoot here, but they make a non-M version of this. Yes. And but there was it was
the Americans actually in South Carolina, where this was with the Z3s were being produced,
they thought up the shooting breaks. So shooting breaks, the two door station wagon. And to like
sneak it past the board or whatever. Yeah, the design board. They had to say, well,
you know, we're going to make a performance car or so. But they were able to actually make an M
three or you know, an M convertible and an M correct. But yeah, it's actually an American car
in a way. So it's so tiny and so interesting looking. And you know, it's it's so funny. It's
like looks like it's missing the back half of a car. In essence, it is. It's it's kind of weird.
And it's and so why did you buy it? Well, I don't know why, but you know, what is it about the
car that attracted them? I'm an addict. You're a traumatic. But here's the deal. When we first got
these M coupes in the US, they came with a detuned engine as was the case back then. So there was
a 240 horsepower engine in the M coupes that we got. And in the very last year or two, 2001, 2002,
we were able to get the S54. The engine that would go on to make the most perfect E46 M3.
So this S54 is in this car. It's got the powerful 320 horsepower engine in it. And this is
in insane combination. Yeah. The little teeny car and a 320 horsepower engine. And the funny
thing I learned after buying this car and it got here, Drew Leslie, who's been on the show,
the 100 VAG said, you know, do you know who Peter Nam is? He was the owner of this car. So
the gunther works. Yeah. So it came from just down the street. It went to Ohio and it came back
here and it's now in your eye. So he owned it. How recently? Just until I got it. That's so great.
And if Peter owned it, that means in every night, there was a diaper that wiped it down. Every
piece of dirt was removed right from OCD. I love Jack. Show us the rear wheels. I love this rear
wheel. Have I seen this over or is this how fat it is? Just how deep it is? Yeah. It's so big.
And what kind of finishes that? Like it's gunmetaly. Yeah. But what's so great about this car,
what's so great is you get the rear trailing arms. You get like the E36 rear end with the E46
M3 motor. It's such a unicorn. It drives so well. It does. It's so correct. The E36 rear end
really comes from the E30. It's right. I mean, it goes back to the 2002. So this is what made
BMW known as a sports car was that rear suspension. Well, I find there's something about the
power delivery in this engine that is so interesting. Straight off the line, it's fast. But when you find
this engine, the power delivery when you're going 15, 20, 30 miles an hour, and you put your foot in it,
the amount of power that comes on. It's a rever. Yeah. And it's I found it the other day when I first
took it on a loop around La Brea at night, La Brea, to stock her to La Siena. I was flying and I
was going fast. I won't say how fast like this. But I was not going beyond third gear. But here's
the thing too. I think about 2001, 2002. I think about the E39 M5. Right. That era of BMW. They
were just doing it. They just they just got it right. Do you think this is a car that's going to
stay in your collection? I mean, you've got such an impressive BMW collection at this point.
It seems to be growing exponentially by the week. I admit it. You know, there is certain accessibility
for the best beamers of that error that it is half or a third of the price of nine of the
Porsche world. Yeah. So there is a way into it and some cars have come in an interesting car
is coming in the last of the BMW recent acquisition. I make a suggestion that we call this place EAG
West. Yeah. But you just renamed this the West Coast dealership of EAG, which is retirement plan.
Well, a lot of true kids call it fun. Now, let's not we have to give it a try to tend to
fully pay Garcia and that's classic. I think yeah, maybe more of a vacation home. Yeah. They
could it could well be. But in this particular case, the next one was just an interesting trade
between me and a friend and of a of a of a E third or euro E36 from 96. Oh yeah. Okay. So
that's what is that an S52? That's that's a motor this had initially. Yeah. 99 or that's also
320 horsepower individual throttle body. I would like to see this car kind of dressed up for Christmas.
You know, some lights. Yeah. Maybe a little elf coffin in the back. It's called a clown shoe.
But the other thing is I drove one of these recently around Florida. And there was two turns
in the whole fucking state. However, it's just such it's such a good size. It's so small. It's
smaller than a 911. You know, it's like a 356 size almost, but so much power, so much handling.
And do you get do you get a nod from anybody other than the BMW guys driving it in versus just
the BMW? Okay. So here's a here's a juxtaposition in the orange car. The female the female
population really response. Yeah. The orange 356. Yeah. There are so so it just brings this
mile to happy car. Women like it guys like it. Everyone likes it. The the clown shoe was an
enthusiast car. Yeah. You have to be an enthusiast. You have to know. You have to know what it is.
It kind of looks like a weird right something. It's just to show us the interior jack before we get
off it. Is that an Ohio plate you have on it? Yep. Currently. Yeah. Something you can register here.
Yeah. Absolutely. I was showing Mr. Jack Ferris in the camera man. The picture of the orange car
in this car was in the background. And his first question was, what was the what's the white car?
Really? Yeah. I was like, Hey, check this out. Most original. What's the white BMW? What is that?
Interesting. Can I drive that? Interesting. This lost his mind. Look at the gauges in front of
the stick ship. Because I didn't I didn't know about the orange car till I pulled up and I was really
going to be like, I just want to talk about this car. The clown shoe. I saw the orange car throughout
the clown shoe existed. Yeah. Yeah. I know. Well, this is cool. It's you know part of the reason you
don't get two cars at once because these are two special cars. But then we have a problem there's
another car right in front of it. Yeah. Yeah. Well, the car. That's another show. That's another show.
We'll get to that. And this other new car that's coming in and amazing, gentlemen. Amazing.
We're filling up the hangers. Yeah, you're going to get a bigger need to get a bigger hanger.
So what is selling? We don't have time to talk about your inios. But you were in that
and you have to pick up the corner master. Yeah, everything when you were driving it to Vegas.
What were you doing? I drove to Vegas. I went to the win the Concorde. The one Vegas Concorde.
That's right. Yeah. They're up to the right. Then I drove that zinger. I know with zinger.
Zinger. Zinger. Zinger. Zinger. Zinger. I drove that last week. You did road. That's right. I
rode in the sex position. I did. I did. I drove it for 600 miles. And that is a car that people
your son's age have their first sexual experience looking at. It is really like.
We don't like when people talk about sex in cars. I know. I never do. How long have you known me?
When do I talk about sex? That's true. Oh, but these kids were all got to me. Oh, God. I'm
all saying the same thing. What the fuck? What the fuck? And they're all like one kid. We call
the M2 kid. Followed us for like 30 miles with his phone the whole time. It's cool. Look at
me. Bro, what the fuck? What the fuck? It was. Yeah, they're having a moment. Whether that can
translate into sales, we're only making 80 and they sold most of them and they're delivering them.
It's so you did a long-term driving 600 mile road trip, which was actually. That was okay.
Surprisingly good. I was wondering. You know, like a McLaren is a very easy-going road car.
Is this the same? No. Not as easy-going as a McLaren. Honestly, they spent no money. I don't
know if Camel's a footage, but they spent no money at all on sound deadening. So the interior
it's loud. I know. I know. I was in it. Yeah. And it's not from the engine. It just makes a lot of noise.
Yeah. Yeah. But it's cool because it's like you're in a small plane. I won't say fighter jet,
never been in one, but like a Sessner, you know, it's a really intimate, great to look out of.
You see everything. It's a unique experience that I found that I did like. And it's so bloody
quick. Yeah. Well, they're Lucas said I could take it for a little while. You sure. Yeah. I want to
say that word. They were asking me. They're like, so Spike was saying he wants to drive her on
Brentwood. Why would anyone want to do that? I don't know. They were curious about that idea. They
wanted to know, what's he going to do? I said, I tell you what he was going to do. He's going to go
from Brentwood to Malibu and drink a cup of coffee. No, I'm going to use it. Oh, okay. I like to use
my cars as cars. So I like to go. It's completely horrible to take to the supermarket, but it works
taking to the can. You know, I want to know like if I bought one of these. Yeah. And I think that's
kind of my value as a reviewer. Sure. Yeah. Lifestyle. Yeah. So that would fit into a suburban lifestyle
of a guy that wants to use a car. And I just want to use it like that. It's very scrappy. Right. So
you will, you will, you will have a hard time. It's going to let. No, it does not. Oh, that will
be a very scrappy. Well, as long as they have taken into Vicente Foods with the parking, the parking
stop, they have Dixie Cup fronts like just new fronts they can put on it. That'll be fine. They
can every time up and down the hill, I'm going to take the front off the car. Yeah, it comes off the
car. It's, you know, it's, it's not, it's not those parking stop sucker. I mean, it's all of the speed
bumps and the uneven, you know, gas dips. Yeah. The dips are for the drainage of the water,
but we come down. Yeah. So I know how to do. We were leaving a lunch stop. It was pretty funny.
There was a pretty good dip. And so when it's in EV mode, only the front wheels have power. Yeah.
And it scraped so bad that both front wheels came off the ground. No. So they were like,
wow. And when it was backed up, they didn't care. They fixed all that stuff. You know, they knew
we were going on a road rally with. They wanted to do something different. They said like,
yeah, everyone goes to the track. Well, the poor guy who was assigned to babies at the car,
he really cared the rest of the team. Well, if I have to, we can, we can store it here. Yeah.
And then I'll just take it right out to the highway on to the, actually there's a dip right there.
Oh, yeah. You know what? We'll bring it to Santa Monica to my hanger there. And I can just hop
on the highway, do a round of Malibu, bring it back. And I'd be nervous lending me a $2 million
company. Yeah. Oh, a tree almost fell on the, my, my, my buck. And then someone hit me. That's
same day. Yeah. Here's a picture of the kid that did it. That's good. Anyway, that's our show.
