So you, Alan, what's happening in your car world?
Nothing really, the cars are just going fast.
I still haven't booked the D Max for its service.
Technically it's due at the end of July, but you know, I think that's that's more of a recommendation.
I still haven't hit my full 15,000 KS but I'll get it booked in close to that date. I I will try and take them up on
their or they call it courtesy car offer would be like, you know, lend me something nice and I'll, they'll probably lend me some kind of MG. There's like an MG and Isuzu
like joint dealership, so guaranteed they'll give me some kind of shitty MG and then I'll just be like Oh well, I guess you know, thank you. Rob.

I had plans to book my car in for like a wheel alignment and stuff but just haven't done that.
Well, I've been assigned a case manager from Ford Australia.

So that email that I sent out has being sort of acknowledged.

And they're like. Very nice, very polite, since
it's my fourth brand new Ford in the last couple of years.
And now I'm very disappointed. And you know, with all these
little niggly things that have gone wrong with it and you know, after driving alone Ford Transit, it was so good compared to mine. You can really tell the
difference. And so they've signed a case
manager and they said if you, we don't reach out to you, we're very busy, reach out to us. Well at the end of the your
email then I. Got to, then I got to do
nothing. Probably not.

Well, exactly. And so if I get, I don't know
what they can do. I mean, the diff is still noisy
at certain speed. It'll probably last three, two,
300,000 kilometres, who knows? But it's just whiny.
It's just not what it should be. The steering wheel, every time
the steering wheel you're hearing like a little squeak, like when you turn a steering wheel.
And then the backlash between when you back off and accelerate, you can fill a backlash between a gearbox or the diff or something. So obviously they haven't done
the backlash properly on the gearbox again.
I don't think they changed it the second time.
They just waited two weeks and they gave it back to me.
You should have put a mark on there somewhere.
I should have, could have. I probably had too much trust
and that the care factor was, I don't know, probably not there.
And I should have got, it's easy to crawl underneath it and I should have in hindsight. I didn't, and I'm disappointed
that I didn't because I normally would do that even before Philtres when I take the cars in for services.
Always Mark. Yeah, there's little things like
that because I don't trust the deals.
Yeah, I really don't. Yeah, and and you've got every
reason not to trust them after what you've been coming with it probably. I mean, you've had a few
instances with said company on a few different cars, you know, and it's just why would you trust them if that's how they're going to, if that's what they're.
Going to do you know, it's it's been a 5050, isn't it?
Two cars out of the four have had major issues. 5 cars really,
if you actually had two Mustangs, 1 Falcon, that's four and the trans air, sorry, four cars.
Yeah, so forth. So you you didn't.
How many issues did you have with the XS6?
Nothing. As in issues?
No, nothing at all. Yeah, it's been fantastic from
get from the get go. Never had an issue with it.
And the and the blue Mustang behind you've never had an issue? Not as such.
There's been a little rattle in the instrument cluster, but I'm not going to touch it. It's only at certain frequencies
into certain roads that you get that little rattle in the instrument cluster. And then I do have a, a, a major
metal resonance on the left hand side rear quarter.
I don't know if it's my, it'd be my doing partially because I put the exhaust system on it, so I'm not sort of too fussed about it.
But there is a metallic noise on the left that's not happening on the right. And it's not the exhaust.
It's in that quarter panel. So there's something loose
inside a panel when the exhaust actually gets to a certain frequency will actually 'cause that vibration through the quarter. But it's, yeah, it's a Mustang.
So yeah, with the, the, the, the, the loose slack rear suspension and the, and the vibration and the rattles, you know that that's, that's part and parcel, the visceral feel of a must. Well, when the car wants to
Mustang on you, at least you'll know.
Well, I paid. I paid for this.
Yeah, and it's only Mustang on me about three times so far and I and I should have learnt the first time it it happens on full lock power. So you never full lock power it
because it'll actually steer you into a barrier.
So you can you can actually power it in a straight line, it'll stay fairly straight, but as soon as you try to full lock it and try to do a a drift, it'll lose it.
So if you put fraction on. Is this like, like like
genuinely, is this like a, a feature that's been that's been built into these cars? Like is that is that have they
have they kind of put that into it like as.
A yeah, they have not not to lose control, but to it's for Rd vibration and comfort. So they've actually made it that
soft and, and that flexible to, to pick up all the, the movement on the roads and all the, the road vibrations just try to sort of, yeah, basically stop some of that going through to chassis.
So yeah, that's what I'm, that's what I read anyway.
But how true it is, I'm not 100% certain.
Someone in the Mustang forum probably know better than I would, but yeah. So it's real easy to fix.
You can put stop the hop, you can put various other braces on it to stop it pretty quickly. And and it's not overly
expensive. It's, you know, four, $500.00.
So I can't see why Ford couldn't have done the same thing and still kept that right quality. So with the aftermarket like you
know the aftermarket adapters and things that you can put on onto the cars, do they damage the NVH or is it pretty much as as they are just drives, you know, drives are pretty much the same from. Everyone that I've spoken to
can't tell the difference. It's just that, yeah, it's it
tends to just make the car feel a bit more taut through that corner. And I don't like that.
And I wear a Mustang on you as. Much.
I wear a Mustang on you. Yeah, well, my mate's got
something like, you know, I don't know, 700 plus horsepower to be supercharged Mustang and stays in the straight line no matter what he does to it. And he's put that in, out.
Yeah, OK. And he reckons it's the best
thing he's done right. Best thing he's done, yeah.
Yeah. Well, and that's a lot of people
say that it's not just him yeah. So everyone within the club
mentions how good it is so. And I'll try, yeah, I'll try to
do it, but my exhaust system won't allow me to do it.
So yeah. OK, so hang on.
So because it's not just from this from your generation, it's like the previous generations have always had a an issue.
Yeah, just mustanging. Like and that's the yeah, solid
rear axle. So it's the same thing what's
happening. So obviously they designed it
into the car because it is a Mustang.
So you got to keep that, you know, thing happening over the generations, don't you? Still got to hit crowds.
Like that's just what you meant to do, yeah.
Yeah, run into the the the islands and and into crowds.
Good stuff. So, So that's the Mustang,
that's the Transit. What else is the SEC?
The SEC You see, you said you were doing some work too.
Yeah. So that, that paint started
peeling on that when we painted the quarter.
So after we stripped that back and really high filled it and now I'm going to strip back the back door, the, the 2 doors and the back quarters and hopefully the paint won't peel on it.
But so far he's, yeah, he's done a bit of work on the front, on the, the boot and the the two guards.
They've been high fields so they could be blocked back and painted. But there's still, yeah, plenty
of work to do on that car. Unfortunately.
It should have been done six months ago, but I'll keep on pressing. Hopefully you'll get it done by
Christmas. Yeah.
And I'll have a car an SEC hopefully on the road by the new year That, that's what I'm looking forward to.
So that'd be good. I'm looking at maybe offloading
some cars just to downsize a little bit and not have as many registrations and insurances. So that that's been hitting
hard, especially with some of the new tolls coming in with the new tunnels, $16.00 a trip, stuff like that, tollways.
Was that is that through that's. Going to be that's going to be
the new tunnel. I think that's the daily pass
for going through the the new Westgate tunnel.
Wow. Yeah.
So yeah, you got to sort of try to save money wherever you can.

It's just me being more fussy than anything to tell the truth about the car. If she buys it on a weekend
she's going to come down and have a look at it down Geelong and as soon as I sell I think I'll be going in there buying a BYD and selling a Tesla, maybe even.
OK, OK. Yeah, yeah.
We said we're going to sell it, didn't we did.
Yeah, she's yeah, she said yeah, because she's going to basically she doesn't need a Tesla. We've got an electric hybrid, so
it does 100K range around town. So she doesn't need a Tesla.
And then I've still got a car for a weekend for me to get around and go, you know, tow the dirt bikes, go dirt bike riding.
You saw it. So Rob, what's the engine in the
BYD Shark? It's a don't quote me on it.
I popped the bonnet. I couldn't really see it.
I didn't do look at the specs, but it looks like a tiny little 4 cylinder petrol generator. It's all it is, is a.
Generator, that's all it is, yeah.
Yeah, I thought it's a generator.
No, it doesn't it. Doesn't do anything.
Wow. No, that's all it does is
provide power to the inverters to drive the wheels.
So you can hear it kick in and you can hear the motor Rev up when you fresh it, but when you're just cruising it's quite as you just can't hear anything. It's sort of like any electric
car. But even when you do fresh it
and the petrol motor kicks in, it still feels different to a normal petrol car. Yeah, it doesn't feel the same.
It feels good. I like it.
I really do like the way it feels and so on.
The the ride's a bit jittery. It's certain roads and whatnot,
but it's not harsh, so you can put up with it, I think.
And a lot of forward drives are fit, you know, even the Pajeros, the the front wheels start bouncing around and all sorts of things that they they do. And a lot of cars, as soon as
you put a slightly big guitar on, it becomes sort of, yeah, jumps around and bounces around. You need to start, you know,
doing work on a suspension and whatnot to get rid of that jitter. Yeah.
But apart from that, the seats are the bolster on the lower part of the seat. That's the only thing I can say
that's not the best on it is that there hasn't got enough length on your your lower on your thighs and your legs when you there's no support or not as much support that comes out.
Whereas some of the other cars have got adjustable bolster.
But it's got the lumbar support, air lumbar support control, heated cool seats. It's got it's got everything.
The sound system sounds awesome. The DAB system's fantastic.
The connectivity is great. It's not slow in any way when
you go through the screen, and the functions on a screen are fantastic. Rob, I've generally heard all
only good things about this car. Like the only negative was a
yeah, bit of a jittery ride, but again, they'll probably have that calibrated out by the update or the facelift.
I'll tell you a funny story just to add to that.
You know, they're selling gangbusters of the BYD 6, you know, Shark 6. I went into into a Ford
dealership the other the other day as part of my, I was doing year 10 workplace work experience visits and each of the dealerships got a got a plug in hybrid Ranger and he's like, guess how many? Guess how many, you know,
inquiries we thought about the car.
I'm like, oh jeez. Well, it's a range of, you know,
probably fair for you. He's like 0.
He's like absolutely zero. And I'm like, well, that's
you're bringing a product to market that's substandard to what's out there. You're going to cop it.
Substandard high cost. Yeah, Correct.
Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, you're right.
You spot on. Yeah.
Yeah, well, look, I can't. If I had the cash, I'd buy cash.
But even the finance is 1.9%. So if you've got some money in
your bank account, leave your money in the bank and invest your money and go and finance it.

I did end up buying the wiring harness for that just on the Internet, just from a, I don't know, some joint in Sydney, audio joint. So they should be arriving soon.
I'll put a head unit into that. I yeah, I did actually pick up a
very cheap set of wheels for the Magda.
I'm talking $80.00 for a set of four wheels with tyres.
But the tyres are tyres are shagged.
They're just alloys. Like it's exactly what you'd
expect if you went to marketplace and typed in alloys.
It's what you would expect to come up did.
You find about marketplace. Yeah, absolutely.
And in good marketplace fashion, it took me 3 days to arrange a bloody pick up for these things as well.
So yeah, so I went and picked those up this morning and the guy was really cool. He was like, man, I'm just, I'm
sick of bloody sudden stuff on marketplace.
You just get messed up, messed around and I'm like, yeah, I hear you man. It doesn't really like that.
And then and I was looking at his driveway just because we were talking and he had 100 Series on club plates.
And then he had a had a trailer hooked up to that with something under a top. And I'm like, what do you got on
the top? And I look under it and there's
like a 1920s Morgan, like a like a like wood wheels, wood frame, all that sort of stuff, just like sitting under a top.
And I'm like, wow, what the hell is this?

And then he's like, I'll show you.
And he just ripped the top off and it's got like a fall down windscreen, no roof. Like it's a permanent.
Yeah, yeah. And it was just so cool.

cool. So I just chatted to the guy for
a little bit and it was winging about a whole bunch of things, you know, the government and how much they're going to take the money and all this stuff. And I was like, I was, I was

I got home and I chucked them. I chucked one of them onto the
magnet just to see the fitment and stuff and you know, it's what you'd expect. They're like 14 by 6 or
something. Very weak offset, but it's the
size for the car so you know it is what it is.
Is it a better offset than what was on it?

steelys are probably plus 50s or something, right?
So it's just maybe. Slightly better but they can be
changeable with other brand like other models or different manufacturers like the the bolt pen, the stud pen.

Any like modern Nissan even it's just.

board and 1st invest dress and, and I was like me, I'm looking for all the car things to go to. So got 2 car dealerships and
then I got Ford head office in Broadmeadows, which is pretty cool. I also got like a, like an I, I
an optometrist, but, but it's not, it's not I talk, it's Car Talk. So so we'll, we'll leave that
one. So the first thing I went to,
you know, I went to a Ford that they were really lovely there.
They were, you know, they were really nice people.
Speak to the guy that he would turn out to be the kids father, that of the of the of the kid I went to go see.
He was like he was, he was pretty, pretty honest about about Ford. He's like, look, we're known as
the Ranger company with good for good reason, because that's all we sell. It's just Rangers.
He's like F-150 monumental failure, like like monumental failure, like it's just dead in cell marquee failure.
You know, then he was telling me about the plug in hybrid Ranger.
It's been there for ages, not a single inquiry on the car, nothing. So failure, you know, like it's
he's like, we don't have any small cars.
We always like we quite literally got nothing.
He's like Mustangs priced out of existence now, like, you know, it's all dried up because not, no one wants to spend that much money on Mustang. You know, he's like the only
things that are keeping us in business Ranger and and Everest, which, which which was really like, I was like, well, yeah, you know, you're saying whatever you're saying to me what everybody else has been thinking.
So it was really transparent. It was really, really honest
about it, which which was good to say from from a from a dealer's perspective. So, so that was pretty cool.
Then I went to another kid when I saw him at Mazda in Essendon Fields. A great kid, really doing doing
a great job. Bit of a hustler.
I found out he, he sells Hot Wheels.
So but what he does is he goes to the, he goes to like Target and big W and stuff. And he takes, he takes photos of
like the really rare ones, hides them behind shelving and puts them up on marketplace as you know, and as like an exorbitant price, people buy it. So yeah, I'll buy it.
He goes back, finds them, pays for them at the cheap price and sells them for the, you know, for the more expensive price.
I'm like, what a hustler, what a cool kid.
You know he's a scalper, not a hustler.

So, so, so, so that that I was like, yeah, he was pretty good, but he was having a great time selling cars and doing all sorts of stuff. So I was I was really cool to
see him. And then the last one that I
went to was at Ford head office. So it turns out you have to know
a member of you have to have a member of family in there to, to be able to get in there because it's, you know, they, they it's quite hard to get into. And the kid was telling me they
went, they went to the proving grounds, saw crash testing, say all saw all this. They let me into a certain
section. They didn't allow me to go into
like the into the clan modelling section because obviously that's all high end secret. So that was a bit of an eye
opening experience. But so, so yeah, that was that
was my trip with with that car related was Oh yeah, I got a puncher in the Laser and I took it in to go get the puncher repaired. But turns out that the wheel was
just like tyres stuffed and my wheels and stuffed up to get them rerolled. So I put my stockies back on
sixteens. So I'm back to sixteens guys.
And it's just, it's quite literally spin city.
Like I just, it just spins everywhere like this is ridiculous. So gonna have to adjust my
driving. Less rotational mass.

so much lighter than than the, you know, the ones that that came off it. They 17.

We got talking and he's like, he's like, yeah, you know, people are all waiting for the Model 3.
There's he's like, there's we got so many orders for the Model 3 because one, it's, it's a, it's 60 odd grand or whatever it was like whatever, how much you paid for all yours.
I can't remember how much it was, but it was a lot cheaper than a, than a, than a, the Model S.
And you know that and that they were, you know, they were the, they were the ones that said, OK, well, this is, this is the future. You know, it's, it's happening,
but I want to wait for an affordable price.
And then they then they jumped on board with that.

really, really nicely, I think. It's a really good design.

comparison to the new Model 3 hasn't aged as, you know, like it looks Wow, that's that's definitely generational.
Whereas whereas the Model S still looks like it could be sold today. So I yeah, I think that that was
a really good piece of design. I think it was a class it.
Has a presence on the road. It's a bigger body car and it
is, it has some lines that are like conservative but also like very well futuristic for its time.
And it just still looks really good.
