There's a professional radio. This front wheel drive.
Have you got anyone you want to thank?
Just myself. And now I do the after hours,
gentlemen. What would you go for?
They see us in there, OK. And because it's not a super
duck, it is, it's not automatic. Perfection comes in the form of
two letters. A&U.
Long live my Ltd. Welcome to Car Targets Tuesday
night here on 98.9 NW FM. It's me, Maddie J on line with
Mr. David Prince, Mr Scotty Doe Johnson and Mr Rob Zadai.
How are you doing? Very.
Well, thanks mate. Good.
Thank you. Good to see all your lovely
faces. Rob just gives a thumbs up if if
it gets we're on radio. I I spoke over the top of Dave
there, but it's right. Let's first of all, I wanted to
speak to you Rob, because I sent you something the the yesterday I think it was. They're finally showing the P-76
some love. There's a company making model
118 scale P76AS Tiger. Floor 18.
Nice. Yeah, yeah, I've actually over
the years we tried to get my die cast models made with through the club. So we've really been pushing
various manufacturers. So maybe it's some of the club
members who finally got, you know, enough numbers to actually get an automate up. So that's good.
It's good to see. But I think I've got a couple.
I don't know where to put them. I've got to find them.
But so I think it's is it classic?
No, no, not classic. It's it's something collectibles
that they're doing a tiger flora both in green and blue with with only two colours of tiger flora came in.
So come in an Aspen Green and a Omega Navy.
Yeah. Blue and they come in a nutmeg
which is a metallic brown. Oh, OK.
Yeah, so the the the authentic collectibles.
That's it. Authentic collectibles.
Yeah. I think there's.
A decent size though too. It's not a you know, easier to
to put on the shelf is in more detail.
Is it 265 dollars? Not really cheap and, and and
they've got all three colours well.
I've got all three colours. OK, cool.
Nice. Yeah, you probably paid.
You probably paid less less than that for a real one.
Once Upon a time, not anymore, unfortunately.
No, no. So Mr Mr Rob is going to be
spending $1000 very shortly buying all three to to have in his in his man cave, which is the man cave that's there now mate. I was giving a bit.
I've been given car entire cars for nothing over the years.
People can. Take it, take it, I'll take it.
No worries. Well, I'm glad that they must be
listening to our show and saying, oh, geez, these guys must love the P-76 for some unknown reason.
Let's, let's let's make him a model car.
And. And now, now, now you've got one
rock. Yes.
No, I've got I've got a few collectibles from them and they're, they're actually quite, quite good quality.
So, yeah, Good. Good to see the P-76 convince
some love. Alamdeep Singh, welcome.
You've joined us. Can't hear a word you're saying
mate. He's in the invisible.
There we go, there we go, there we go.
Sorry about being late, you had to work some overtime at work.
Overtime, OK, you know he's a working man.
Yeah, I work hard for the money. I work acceptably for the money.
No, it's, it's very good mate, very good.
And how you doing? Pretty well, yeah, I was.
Going to say a bit you today. Did your car stop at any time
today? Well, actually I wasn't a fan
today and I got hit by some cross fins, but I slowed down myself before the car decided to do it for me.
I was like, I don't need the crossword protection.
I am the crossword protection, you know, No.
It's good to see you mate. Let's get on with some car
updates. David Prince.
Big news and you're what I believe.
Oh well, hopefully yes, yes, I've got a date.
The N1 is finally being registered on Thursday, so they've assured me I can pick it up from 3:00 on Thursday afternoon. Given the the roller coaster
ride it's had so far. I'm not.
When you see social media post of of it sitting in my garage, you'll know that it's actually arrived.
But until then, we're not. We're not counting any chickens
I don't think so. Fingers crossed that's that's
the most positive sign so far. It's all complied.
They sorted the wheel nuts out. So what happened with that?
Like, did they did they go to a tyre shop?
Hard to know, hard to know. I've just, I'm being fed bits of
information. I'll when I pick it up on
Thursday, I'll find out. I don't know if they're, they're
still in one piece or I think they said in the last message that they got some new wheel nuts or some other wheel nuts.
So so. Somebody's probably have forced
them off. I'd say so, yeah.
Yeah. Yeah.
So that's all we have. So I think at the moment for
Comply for roadworthy, it's probably wearing the 14 inch what Navi rims that I've got the black racing wheels, which look really good. They're a really good fitting
for the N1, but they're only a 14 inch rim, whereas the Vox racing wheels that came with the sixteens so and it should have fifteens from the factory. So we're having two Bob each
way, I think. But the the 14 inch wheels on
the red car looked really good. They're a little wider but still
have plenty of clearance from suspension and things like that and brakes and they were a 185 tyre instead of a 165.
So I just seem to fill it out a bit better.
So yeah, I'll, I'll leave those on for now and see what I think and might be said. Cheap folks racing wheels up for
sale soon. We'll buy 100 if anyone wants to
eat me up, we'll see. We'll see.
So that's that that was, yeah, fingers crossed next week I'll be able to report on how good. And, and because we had to
change an event coming up, I thought, wow, OK, well, we might just actually have a little drive through the Dandenong Ranges if that's the case, instead of the event we were going to do. So fingers crossed I'll have it
for that on Sunday. Absolutely.
Had a quite a good car weekend last weekend.
Went to a a an auto caffeine night at Shannon's on this on Saturday evening. There's some nice cars there and
some nice people to catch up with and chat away with.
Interestingly, no caffeine though they didn't have anyone selling coffee and it was freezing there, so it would have been nice. And then Sunday morning was
Autoclassico in Mailing Rd in Canterbury, which it it literally went off. It was an amazing event this
year. The weather was fantastic,
incredible array of cars and stuff that I go to all of these shows and there was stuff there that I've never seen in any show before. You often see the same things,
you know, appearing at those sort of things.
But there was a great collection of of stuff there.
The HRA put on a brilliant display of old rally cars.
So they had like a Stanza rally car, they had a silica rally car, Lancia Ratt rally car, Glen GTO rally car, all all in full livery and stuff. That was awesome.
There's an XJ220 Jaguar there. There was a sort of, you know,
Fiat 500 Citroen, 2 CVS. Not a lot of Japanese cars, I've
got to say, but you just stumble across like just tucked in a laneway. Was it like a, an old Delarge,
this amazing orange Delarge from the probably the 20s, I'd say, but a little bit maybe the 30s looked like something Cruella Deville would have been driving. But yeah, we really, really good
show and heaps of people there. And yeah, the the traders were
very happy with the, the I think Mercedes Benz also run the concourse as part of it. I think.
So there was a one area of very heavy on the old Benzes, but even the Gemini Sandpiper. I posted a photo of the
Sandpiper sticker too, on the side of a pretty ratty old Gemini. But it was completely original
and unrestored. It was.
It was very cool to see it with a bit of patina on it.
That's very cool. Full car.
Sandpiper a a waggon, Is it a 2 door No.
No, it came in a two and four door.
We could get it in. It came in, it was released in
the TC and then followed through to the sorry TD and then went through to the no, actually it was the TC and then it skipped the TDI think and went into the TE.
So they were sandalwood over Mojave beige, like a 2 tone sort of finish. And I think there was a sun, a
Sandpiper version as, as was often the case during the 80s, seventies and 80s, GM, you know, copied things from overseas.
And I'm sure there was an American car that came in the Sandpiper limited edition. But the, I remember at the time,
there was a bit of an urban myth about the, the sticker because, and I actually blew it up. I took the photo and blew it up.
And I can confirm there are seven birds and 15 legs, so there's something funny going on there.
There are more legs in the sticker than there are birds, so there's either one of them's particularly anatomically incorrect. I'd say probably is the kindest
way of putting it, but yeah, no. Great show 1.
Of them's just excited to see you, David.
Yeah, no, no. Well, it's they certainly look
like legs, I've got to say. But there's definitely 15 legs.
So that's your updates, Mr Prince.
That's me, I think. Yes, yes, sure you do.
I honestly have nothing, it's just busy over the weekend but unfortunately not not car stuff so we'll have to move to the next person. Rob, what's up?
What's happening with you? Car base with you.
No car upgrades. No, I've been because my son's
overseas. So, you know, I've just had to
take the C63 out for a bit of a squirt and.
No, as you do. Yeah, it's.
Hard work though hard work. Hard work, yes.
So I took it for a drive and basically took it up the Calder Highway and then took the back roader.
I don't know if I mentioned this last time, but coming back down the side street I was going a bit fast.
I think I'm going to mention it. No.
And the police are there with the raid a laser gun on a colder freeway towards facing the cold race track, sort of up the freeway. And I'm coming down the sideline
along with the cars. But it's a 60K zone and 100K
zone and I'm doing at least 100 and a 60.
Allegedly. Down here there's no car,
there's no pelt, there's no lights, no houses, no nothing.
But it's a 60K zone. So assume you got pulled over,
no. I didn't get pulled over, No,
no, no. So I just pulled up next to him
and said hello, took off and off I went.
So, but yeah, it's sort of strange.
It's sort of like a, there's no houses around, but it's all 60 KS down through that little, little section there.
I don't know why, but prior to that it's 100, so I don't know.
Anyway, so took that for a drive, washed and cleaned the cars, been toying around with the van a little bit, pulling a few bits and pieces off, trying to work out where the heat is going to go and the water and and whatnot.
So I've been working on the car a bit, which work out a place to put up a, a new spray boot, a brand new one at the workshop.
But we want to put a roof over it.
So might mean building a shed. So another shed booked a car in
a transit in for a service. It's fixed price service $389.
I think it is for five years. So it's fixed.
So over the five years it's never going to change.
It's I don't think it's overly cheap, but it's probably good that it's not going to go up. Yeah, but my mate hopped in the
van the other day. He goes that diff sounds a bit
sort of like it sounds like it's whining.
I said to me too. I said yeah I've noticed it.
But ever since I've taken the the cabin wall out and and isolated it, it can really hear the diff noise.
Whine. Yeah.
Yeah, whine. So rang up Ford to book in my
service. I said, look, it's it's the
Dick's really giving me the shits, you know, so I want it looked at when I bring it in. And so they've got another
recall on them as well for the reverse cameras.
They all seem to have reverse camera issues, these Fords from the Mustang to the Transit to everything in between, I think.
But so they'll look at the reverse camera, hopefully they'll look at the diff and see what's wrong with that.
They'll probably say Nah, that's normal, but.
It's not. That's what they that's what
they always say. You know, it's so I'm just look
it. You might reckons it's probably
not a not an issue, but it just seems to be.
Oh no, there seems to be a bit of backlash starting in the gearbox when it's cold, there's a lot of lag in a gearbox.
I'm not overly happy with it, to tell the truth.
Once once it warms up, it's all right to get the gearbox is OK, But when it's cold and I don't think that should happen with a a new modern car these days. When it when the gear is cold,
you know to have a bit of backlash when you put into gear for it to sort of like jerk a bit and and like slip.
That shouldn't do that. Once, once you go down the
street and around the corner and oil's pumping through it, it's fine, yeah. That shouldn't do that.
I'll get him to check it. How many KS has it done, Rob?
Only got 5000 kilometres on it. Yeah, no, that's not not fit for
purpose really, is it? It's not, is it?
No. No, that's rubbish, that is.
Absolutely rubbish. So I yeah, I'm just not ugly
happy. And even a gear shift, when you
put it from drive to reverse, it doesn't, it's not firm.
It doesn't click in firm all the time.
So, so sometimes you can just push it out of gear because it doesn't click in. You've got to push the button to
click it, but if you don't click it in properly and try to play with it until it pops in, it won't pop in.
So it's in Drive, but you can actually then knock it and knock it out of drive. That's rubbish.
Yeah, absolutely rubbish. But yeah, I'd I'd.
Take it back and say hey, this is.
Can I get my money back? Yeah.
Lemon laws, you got to take it back three times in America, I I believe, before they can actually replace it under the lemon laws. I don't know what it's like
here, the consumer law or whatever they need to, well, if they deem it's an issue and then you can fight it out in VCAP or something. I don't know if it's worth it.
Yeah. They're not great in Australia
with that so, but yeah. Yeah, so that's pretty much on
the car front. I've been.
The car's ready to be painted now for the two weeks and he still hasn't painted it. He said he was going to do it
today, so I'm not holding my breath.
So the the hopefully the roofs get painted on or the roof rail on the E36 AMG or yeah, and also the E 430 is getting the whole roof done and all the bumper bars done so it looks big.
Oh. No, you got up as rent, you know
like until you you paint it. I'm assuming this is the guy
that's renting the the shop space from you.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, up as rent.
We like, you know, you, you paint my stuff or it goes up.
Well, yeah, that's right. He's and he's paying big dollars
for the rent too, right. So there's.
Your problem. There's your problem, yeah.
Yeah, well, I'm trying to help him out and start him out and stuff like that. And and he's got to do a couple
cars for me. So, you know, if I work out, you
know, like a a car cost you ten, $15,000 to respray, that's a whole year's rent. And he's promised to do a whole
car for me in a year. I said every year you got to do
one car for me. Yeah.
Right. So it's a car a year and then
he's done a couple little bits and pieces on a while.
He's doing these bits and pieces on a side, which are again a side job. So I said are you OK with doing
the side job in this car this time?
And then one car a year. So we'll see if he doesn't cough
up. Well, there's always out the
door. Lock the gates, yeah.
Look, look, me, me, me and Maddie will rent A space for one car spray per year. I'm sure we'll figure it out,
you know? Exactly.
It'd be a terrible paint shop, but you know, we'll figure it out. Sure you would, but he can spray
so it's good. Yes, that's good.
Did you see that? I think there's some kind of
tradie who had a paint shop and his he had an apprentice who he just really didn't like and I think he had an agreement with his apprentice to spray his van. I painted half of it.
Yeah, he painted half of it like the the half that he painted was Immaculate. That was a perfect paint job.
But the other half was obviously still the original paint.
And I think it was a today tonight or a current affairs A.
Current Affair. Yeah.
So. So you painted half the car
because the person would would do half the job that he was told to do. So he's like, oh, you're doing
half assed jobs. Like I'll do your half assed
paint job in your van. Actually the tape line's
perfectly symmetrical in the centre.
It's whole. It's the funniest thing we've
seen. That'd be.
Awesome to see. Imagine like your van's painted
and he's parked it, you know, side freshly painted and he's like, oh, it's grey. And he goes around and he's
like, hey, what the Hell's this? I'd love to see that on
marketplace where like they only take pictures of the good side and the person comes over and look like what the Hell's this?
Wow that's good. Look, I feel bad for the bloke,
but there's also, again, two sides to every story and I'm sure the truth is somewhere in the middle.
Oh yeah. So you know.
Pretty much it from my end. He's really keen on doing the E,
the E30 BMW. Yeah.
And he goes, I love that car. He goes, Rob, whenever you're
ready to paint, I want to paint this first.
I said no, you're doing my Mercedes 1st.
And because the Mercedes is in pieces and once that together, then we can pull the E30 apart and then you can do that one.
I'm not pulling any more cars apart.
Yeah. Ready for paint until it's ready
for paint. Yeah, 20%.
So that, that's pretty much it, Alan.
Yeah, I don't think there's any car updates on my end either.
Everything's just gone as does. I took the STI out again on
Saturday just to my uncle's place.
I was like, got to use the car more and you know, having the the MX5 gone gives me a good excuse.
Just a quick ride, so nothing special.
Charge on the battery. That's all good now.
Yeah, that's all good. Start up first time.
So it's just the fact that I hadn't been started in ages and the battery's getting a bit old now.
It's about three years old. Current update for Sharon, her
XR8 is now the fuel lights on. So for logistic reasons the XR
is stored at work and I move it in and out every day in the morning and it's been idling enough to have the fuel light come on. It wasn't, it wasn't a full tank
from the get go, but no, it wasn't.
It does idle a little bit and it's a big old thirsty V8 that we do enjoy the sound of and enjoy huffing the fumes.
And so, you know, that's that's the only kind of place I've got.
Very good. Have those with me today or it's
been this drive shaft on this laser has been an absolute nightmare. So as you as you guys know,
previously on on in car updates with Matthew Janina the the laser we tried three different left hand side drive sharps.
They were all wrong. All the listings were wrong for
both the Mazda SP20 and for the laser SR2.
So they mentioned it up they're like look it should be this one.
So then I, as, as you guys mentioned from last week, I I ordered that one and came in and they went to put it in yesterday. Guess what?
Wrong again. So I was and.
Yeah, the mechanic's like, I'm cursing your car because every time it's here, it's taken, it's taken up space on the hoist and it's been wrong every single time.
And he's like, it's not your fault.
It's not my fault. It's just, you know, the
supplies are wrong. I'm like, look, what what do I
do? Like we can get a rebuilt.
OK, I will. So he's like, drop it off
tomorrow. We'll send off to get rebuilt.
So he dropped it off. You get a call today.
He's like, he's like, oh, your car's done already.
I'm like, what do you mean? Is that already?
He's like, oh, they had one and I had one on the shelf.
I'm like, what they had, they've had one this whole time.
He's like, yeah, so they, they took my old one, they put the new one in now that's fine. That's just driving really,
really well now. I went around a corner and then
I felt like the right side one's making a knocking noise and I was just like, you've got to be kidding me.
Like what is what like like hell, what hell.
So I'm just about had enough of Dr shafts and stuff, so I'm just going to just drive it. And then if it gets worse, I was
like and say, hey, yeah, the right side's making a noise now.
So, but in the means I was gonna put up my volume a little bit higher in the car and won't hear it.
I was, I, I couldn't believe it. I'm driving like I'm sure it's
great now. It's awesome.
Anyway, just. Don't take right turns.
Just don't take right turns. Just just just always get a
left. Three lefts will make a right.
You know you just correct. Do that from now.
Drive it smoothly, Don't drive it with any vigour.
Just. I wasn't, I was just, I was just
cruising it, cruising it to the station and quite literally two like, well, on my way here, there's just two left turns.
And then I was, and, and then no, sorry, there's one right turn and then two left turns. Anyway, on the right turn it
clicked. It was like, oh, that's not
good. And then I put into the car park
and I just drive, was driving around the car park and you need for like 5 minutes. And then it did it again.
I'm like, oh, you've got to be kidding me.
So the left side's good now and now it's the right side.
But I guess that's what you get when you've got a car with that many kilometres. It's, you know, there's things
that are, you know, going to go eventually.
But now you know you can order like four different ones when you do order them, and then you just play which one fits.
I was going to say, look, just just just just get the one from the other people and just fix it.
Like I don't really care at this point anymore.
So that's that. I'm trying to think what what
all updates I've done sisters well tend to be back to to me again. Forrester talking about done
proceed proceeded to then tell my sister that you need to wash your car because it's it's it's it's pretty bad.
She's like, Oh yeah, gotta wash it.
I don't think she's washed it in the top.
She's owned it. I think it's been me that's
washed it like the two or three times that she's had for the last year did. Did she drive out of the
mechanics workshop like a bat out of hell like on collision again? Like cash, she normally does No,
because I, I've kind of told her off for doing that.
So now she kind of just waits for it to warm up a little bit, then she, then she. Gives it, then she thrashes it.
Yeah, mechanic said. The car's good.
It's got a front diff. Weep not.
Not a leak, just, you know, just just age related there.
That's not nothing to worry about.
But said the rest of the car is fine.
But said to my sister, please wash your car because it's pretty disgusting. Gave it an oil change as well
while it was in there and flushed out the the clutch fluid and brake fluid. And she's like, oh, the clutch
was a lot better. I'm like, yeah, probably would.
So that's so that's been done with that.
And I think that is it on my car.
They said, Joe, I want to talk to you guys about wait now, not, not, not not about our weight, but I was.
Going to say I feel attacked. Car.
Wait now, Scotty, you put in the chat the other day, the new M5 tool, 2 ring, the M52 ring. Yeah.
And it weighs a staggering amount for a, for a, for a, for just a, you know, a waggon. You've really got to think why
are they making it, making these cars?
So like it's two 2500 kilos, that's massively heavy.
Like that's unbelievably heavy, 2 1/2 tonnes.
You know, there's some jacks that don't even lift that like it is a heavy car. I've got a theory now and, and,
and a good friend Jim Barlow's got this theory as well.
He, he, he, he, he will, we have a chat about this on, on insta that, you know, they're making these cars heavier so they use the consumables more so that you're into the dealership more for, for more brakes. But, and then, but on an MK
series car, the brakes are ridiculously expensive anyway, carbon ceramics and what have you.
So you offer like, you know, the oil change would be about 400 bucks, but your brakes would be about $6000 a pop each time you do it. So I'm, I'm actually generally
thinking that this is like a, this is, you know, becoming a becoming a thing. And everyone's like, oh, those
two drive great. Yeah, don't doubt that.
And I mean, OEM cars usually, you know, quite often do drive well, but 2 1/2 tonnes is a massive amount of weight.
Like that is, that is I believe you're going.
To feel that. Oh, but you, you can't hide
mass, right? Like you, you can't hide it.
Alan, I'm not attacking you here.
So he's he's like, but you, but you can't hide mass and and you're going to feel it one way or another under breaking in the corners, etcetera. Like you can do all sorts of
electronic trickery, trickery and all sorts of, you know, magical stuff, but you'll, you'll still feel the way that there's, there's no denying that.
You can't cheat physics. You can't cheat.
Yeah, no. That's right.
The inertia is going to be there, you know, with all the the tide grip in the world, all the, as you said, Ultron trickery, you know what they call it, talk control and everything else. Like a naturally lighter car
will always be the better option.
Yeah, and look, I I get cars had to get heavier due to, you know, safety reasons and airbags and you know, all the extra reinforcements and stuff. But the MX5 not much that the
current ND is not much heavier than original NA.
Like I think it's like only like 15 or 20 kilos in it.
Like it's, there's not much in it.
So you got you got to make you wonder, is this a ploy?
Like, you know, I'm, I'm, I just, I, I can't fathom an M5 that weighs 2 1/2 tonnes like, but it'll still get to 100 and in 3.6 seconds, yeah, I get that.
But like come to a stop. It's not going to stop.
Like I mean it, it will, but it eventually, you know, it's.
I I could understand that if it was like had some huge, you know, hybrid battery or something in it, you know, like I mean, battery batteries add so much the weight and all so many electric cars are really chunky because of the battery, But that hasn't got any any significant size battery in it has it?
It's got. It's got a little battery.
It's got, it's got, it's 535 kilowatts, 100,000 Newt metres, plug in hybrid, you know, V8. It's got a total.
Battery. So it is a plug in hybrid.
It is a plug in hybrid, but that doesn't that doesn't excuse the the bloody the bloody weight though.
And it's still like it's only 65 only 6565 ish kilos heavier than the than the sedan, which the sedan is, you know, very, very porky anyway. So it's got a plug in hardware
system pairing 430 kilowatt 750 Newt metre V8 to 100 and 45280 Newt metre electric motor for 1000 Newt metres output.
Like I, I think it's probably the the better looking, you know, M car or BMW that they've designed in a while.
But my goodness, 2 1/2 tonnes really is that much power necessary? Like, like really it, it, it's,
it's, it's kind of like a penis measuring contest at this point, really, come on. Because it's, there is no, there
is no reason for, for, for a car to have that.
And what we're talking about, you know, modern cars getting so fast and so powerful and you know, like ridiculously, you know, over over the top that they, they feel so fast that, that you don't even feel like you're, you're doing the speeds.
But that just it, that makes the cars feel a bit, a bit of nothing for me like that. I mean that car, if I was, if I
was five, that'd kind of be like, oh, cool.
But yeah, it, it does absolutely 0 for me.
Like I I and I've always been a fan of an M5 because I think M fives are, you know, they're, they're quite cool and I know I like AI like a, you know, a performance sedan.
I think performance sedans are, are, are really cool things, but that for me is just utterly, utterly ridiculous.
I know I wanted to, I wanted to get your opinion, boys like.
You know, BMW advertisers at have at having as having, Sorry, a nearly perfect 5050 weight distribution.
Geez. So like, so how do you bounce
that? Do you use lead weight?
So that's how. It's easier when you can add add
weight to make it a 5050 weight. Distribution.
So that's that's you don't get to brag about something like that when the car weighs. More than the Hilux, the rear
wheel, the arches and stuff like that.
It's in. When the car weighs more than a
Ranger or a Hilux, you know you don't get to break about having 5050 weight distribution, I feel.
Yeah, like that it, it's, I mean, I don't know any other like how much does a Tesla weigh like Teslas?
Teslas don't weigh that much, right?
Like I know they weigh around 2 times but they don't weigh that much like. Close to it.
Yeah, In in comparison like that is that is a bloody heavy car.
And I just, I find I find it, I find that car a real pointless car to to, you know, to like, yeah, I'm a big fan of waggons, a big fan of fast waggons. But yeah, that's that's a bit of
a yeah. That's a bit like a Model S,
which I think this would, I guess compared to in a lot of ways is about 2.2, but that's with the 100 kWh battery and
that's this thing. 'S still heavier.
Yeah, like that's that's five times the amount of battery this thing has. And yeah, still, still 300
kilowatt. I don't, I don't understand how
you'd make this, you know, a waggon that heavy.
Just makes you laugh though, Mehdi.
As you were saying though, with the how far fast no need to go, there'll still be a huge market and aftermarket performance bars for them. Absolutely, and they'll be
hideously unreliable because the hot V in that in that engine, it's not like the the actual Mercedes one's quite, quite good, but the the BMW ones have well known issues and and they're not they're never getting them right.
So, but it's, you think with all the techno, techno, sorry, technology they've got available and, and everything, you know that that, you know, all these lightweight panels and carbon fibre this and titanium that they were, they would have made these cars lighter. You know, over time, even, even,
you know, even counteracting the safety measures and, and all the extra stuff they're putting into them.
Like this is, you know, it makes it makes absolutely no sense.
Like it, it completely Boggs the mind because I I just, I I can't fathom how you know how an MX5, you know, it's, it's an AMX five is 1002 kilos, right curb weight and an and an ND is 1058 kilos and that's, that's like 30 years of development like like and it's only that much heavier, but I get that it got to be heavier.
But but it come on, you know, I, I and I'm, I'm not, you know, jumping on the MX5 all but it doesn't have a hybrid power.
Yeah, OK. It doesn't have a hybrid power,
power anything. But you know, it's, it just
doesn't make sense to me that a car needs to weigh 2 1/2 tonnes.
I. Think that for too many sectors
for the sporting enthusiasts, the family and everyone else.
So they're they're trying to combine comfort with performance with a whole of other things and it's just got fat.
Yeah. And, and, and The thing is that
like the I just, and as soon as I'm just looking at, you know, why cars, modern cars so much heavier, they've got heated cooled seats, they've got more gears, they've got LCD screens right throughout now front, back, all that sort of stuff.
So there's just more and more weight being put in them more.
Panoramic glass roofs and everything.
Else yeah, glass roofs. Glass isn't light, it's just
heavy as so there's just and and even the acoustic glass, side glass these days, like at the double glazed.
Double glazed, Yeah, and and just heavier.
You can't avoid it. I know there's technology.
If you wanted to go for something that's super lightweight, you're paying supercar prices.
Yeah. And that's the thing.
And even supercars are king. Yeah, Chevy.
Yeah. And and but they are quiet,
aren't they? Very quiet.
Yeah. But look, I get that and I get
in an S class if it's over two tonnes.
Yeah, sure, I get it. You know, you're, you want, you
want to be in a car that that kind of wolfs you away with zero noise, 0 fuss, etcetera. I understand, I get it.
But 2 1/2 tonnes for an M5 really like too.
Many things are too many different people.
Correct. Yeah, I agree with that.
They're trying, they're trying to be, they're trying to be a thing for everybody. Yeah, I do agree with that.
Do we know is there a regular five series waggon or is is there, do we know if the difference is if there is or even sedan there'd be A5 series sedan.
We probably need to look and see what the difference between the five series regular, five series sedan and the M is.
So there is AG31 waggon that that does exist.
Let me find out the details on it for you guys.
They've got hybrid versions for all of them as well.
It's just interesting. Just be interesting to know how
much the adds to it. I'm AG 61 waggon, so for a
diesel, sorry guys give us this is not making for good media right now. Weight 1895 kilos OK and it and
it but the Max weight which I think for the M5 is two 55255 two .555. So yeah that's a massive like
that's a big difference. That's a massive difference
between them. So that's nearly the weight of
the N1 on top of the standard car.
It's ridiculous. Where where can that come from?
That's ridiculous. That is ridiculous.
Why would it be that much of it? Like surely you can't, surely
you can't put almost a tonne of weight on from just, you know, heated and cooled seats and and stuff.
So I don't know, I'm, I'm of, I'm of the, I'm, I'm on the, I'm putting my tinfoil hat on here and say these car companies are trying to charge you more in your consumables because, well, if, if we make it weigh more, they're gonna come in more.
So we're gonna charge you more and it's gonna wear all your components more. And and especially with the with
the BMW that as soon as it's out of warranty, it's gonna wear everything more. And just like you said, other
consumables, you get tyres, you have gonna have to more expensive tyres that are higher load rated and naturally they're gonna wear out much quicker because you're in such a heavy car. Mm hmm.
So you know, it's you're paying more for tyres and you're paying for more often. Sounds like a terrible deal.
Sign me up. So guys, with that tinfoil hats
on here, do you think there's a conspiracy going on or do you think it's just, it's just they're they're just putting all this stuff in them and they're like, yeah, buy it.
Yeah, I think you're just putting all the stuff on it and buy it. You look at it and M free.
Say, for instance, from a 2020 to a 2024 one to 2024, one's about 30 kilos lighter. Yeah.
So then how does that make any any sense then?
Right, so obviously they've they're actually look at, you know, making, pulling things out of it and and trying to make it lighter. So it might be a bit noisier.
They might have lighter glass or thinner glass at the back, you know, the seat Santa's plush at the back, things like that to make it lighter. So, and every little bit helps
for that 20 kilos, but you know, it's hard to find kilos sometimes. So I know in the motorcycle
game, you know, weight is the the thing that they're trying to reduce to make the bike more usable off road, especially with adventure bikes. And BMW brought out a new 1300
CC bike compared to the old 1250 and there's only 1K weight difference. But the new bike's got all the
adaptive cruise control and various other aids and whatnot.
It's actually a almost fatter bike than what the old bike was.
Well. You know, but.
And it's got and it's got all that, that those features.
It's got the features in it, so and they're always trying to reduce weight. Yeah, one thing I find in in car
with what I do for work, one thing that's changed a lot is the weight of the seats in cars. Like with electric motors and
stuff now and and all the multi adjustability of them, they weigh a tonne compared to what they used to weigh.
So they've try and lift them in and out of cars is just it's getting harder and harder every day.
Unless it's a Mercedes seat, all Mercedes seats are heavy.
Yeah, true. That goes back.
That's right. Just just drop it slowly and say
Oh my back compo and then you then you're good.
Well, I want work cover. So so then then then you'll be
good. David Prince.
But no, look, I, I, I think, you know, I think that if, especially for a performance car, if you're having a performance orientated version, you know, I think, I think weight is just, it's, it's one of the things that make it not feel like a, like a sporty car. Yeah, you can do 1,000,000 miles
an hour and all of these, you know, these are these big, you know, Audis and Mercs and, and, and beamers, you know, making immense horsepower. But again, people say that the
driving, the driving feeling is a bit numb and bit boring because they just weigh so much and they don't turn into corners and then they don't, they don't like, you know, like your pants on fire in a corner like like they should.
So I don't know. I think, I think there's some
shenanigans going on as you would say, alum and I think.
I think also it's important to emphasise crash safety.
It's like, OK, yeah, you've got 12 billion airbags and you'll hopefully be fine. But if you hit a pedestrian, you
know, in a car that's, you know, going 60-70, it went 2 1/2 tonnes, it's not going to be a good time.
I mean, if you had a pedestrian at any speed, it's not going to be a good time. But like, you'd hope the person
survived because do you want that on your conscience?
People, you know, end up in accidents every day.
It's an unfortunate, you know, effect of us being on the roads, you know, in cars going as fast as we are and having the world the way it is. So you're having that knowledge
of like, yeah, you could kill someone very easily, much more easily than if you're in just a normal weighted car.
Yeah. Do you want that on unit, you
know, in the back of your mind? I I wouldn't.
Yeah. Do you feel that maybe some cars
are probably have to say that there's an optimum weight if the car's too light, especially family cars like the old Commodores, the VN Commodores used to be renowned to spin out is is, I don't know if it's geometry or whatever it was.
I think they're just too light in the in the back end.
So maybe a heavy, a heavier car's a safer car to some extent. Once they go, they go.
You hit black ice, you know, black ice.
But if you hit, you know, aquaplane or hit a bit of water, you might be better off in a slightly heavier car.
Yeah. Oh, and then there is something
to that also. But then again, some sport some
like cars like you know, like MX5 or even like some hot hatches that are that are very light and got light rear ends, you know, they still feel stable and and you know, planted.
So I think a lot of us to do with geometry.
I, I Ford got in trouble with this with the, with the EF like to the base model EFS, they was designed by, designed by accountants, not engineers. And the, the, the, the car was,
they had the, the handling was so twitchy and, and you know, unstable, especially in wet conditions that it got canned.
And they were supposed to win, you know, wheels carried and it didn't win because it was the, the, you know, it was just, it was just not, not sorted. And they did sort it out later.
But I think geometry comes into, comes into, comes in a big way into it. Like if like a lot of people
when they set up their cars for, to go rent A truck and stuff, like they'll adjust the geometry so that it, you know, at high speeds, it, it sticks and it handles.
I don't know, it's, it's, it's, it's a weird one.
It's, it's an, it's an engineering exercise.
I mean, look, don't be wrong. It's, you know, these, these two
2 1/2 tonne behemoths are heavy, but there's a lot of heavier cars out on the road, you know, your F1 fifties, etcetera.
That yeah, yeah, I mean, it's just, it's just I found I found it weird to see such a performance orientated car that heavy like that's it just blew my mind.
I was, I was like, jeez, that's, that's a heavy car.
The CD's done the same thing with the C63, you know, it's a 4 cylinder smaller motor for the hybrid stuff in it.
It's actually a heavier car, so yeah.
And how many have they sold Rob before?
Maybe, maybe five to with a good finance plan, low interest rates, they're giving them away, but.
They they quite literally they're having to because I think Scotty creamy if I'm wrong with the Mercedes, like, yeah, we're going to put Ava back in it.
Like they've never really made that decision because they're, they're just like they've been canned so much about this 4 cylinder C63. I reckon I will.
Thanks, Steve. It's it's it's funny that there.
There is talks, supposedly there was when I was reading an article, came from a very good source is what they said.
As far as they'd say. It's like, you remember when the
R35 GTR came out? They're like, oh, this thing's
way too heavy. This is ridiculous.
It's not about 1700 kilos, I think.
Yeah, more than that, probably a bit closer to 1800 when you think about that now, that's nothing.
That's fine. Oh dude, yeah, I think any
anything over two times is is a heavy car or anything over 1800 kilos really is a heavy car. It's.
All wheel drive territory, you know, it's not almost car territory, it's a larger car kind of stuff because we expect your Range Rovers and things to be Yep, and they are.
But the Range Rover Sport is less weight compared to this new M5. This is boggles the actually
boggles the mind. Yeah, I'm and, and lately we're
putting the hybrid system in for performance, but also for fuel efficiency. I'm like like, mate, you, you,
you're negating all that with the weight you're putting in the car anyway. So again, that that's, there's,
there's only so much, so much things that, you know, counteract, right? Like you, you add more weight,
you're going to use more fuel regardless.
So it's going to take more effort to move the car.
I don't. Know it makes me wonder the
suspension parts they'll use so with the more with the more weight and things like that what kind of bushes are they using in it I know it's anywhere else so is it completely changed yeah how long it'll last until you got to go through and change all your bushes and they're going. To get a little bit out of your
of your E46, it'll. It'll always last until the end
of the warranty period then. Battery won't last long.
Window regulators. Yeah, definitely.
Those window regulators are gone every post.
Well, yeah, it's interesting how, you know, everything's like as heavy as a truck now, but as fast as a train.
So so what's the answer here, guys?
Like, do you think that car companies going to keep doing this, like making these incredibly fast cars that are super duper heavy and feeling the essence of like performance, you know, lightness, Mr Mr Lotus, Mr Chapman himself would, would, would, would be, would be turning in his grave if he, if he knew this performance cars would be this heavy as they are these days. So what do you guys see in the
answer? Do you think people are going to
start realising that, hang on, these cars are just ridiculous?
They, they want it to, they're stupid fast, which is cool, but like they're just so heavy that they just make driving just not worth it. Like everything, all the
consumables, they're going to be like, I'm not paying $10,000 for a set of brakes for for this car.
You'll probably need to reserve that judgement until you actually drive one Maddie. Well, I know and I'm sure it
will drive great and but like mass is mass, David, like it's it's not going it's it's there's it's.
Physics involved isn't there. Yeah, and it's no, no matter
what you like. For example, if I hop in the
Fiesta and then I hop into the Typhoon, like I feel the difference straight away. Like the Typhoon's not not a
light car. Yeah, it's incredibly quick.
But, well, not not anymore in today's terms.
But it was, you know, it was a quick car back in his day, but you, you still feel its size. So it's a it's a it's a heavy
car, It's 1700 and something kilos.
So like it's not, it's not exactly light, but the, the Fiesta, you can just, it's like just throw it into any corner and, and, and you're and you're right.
And, and I'll have more fun driving a light car.
And maybe that's just because of the, I find them easier to drive and, and the like bit, you know, it's feeling if it's between those two cars. And yeah, the Fords of the very
basic designs of it's an old Falcon.
But again, it, it's, you know, even with the upgraded suspension that it had on the car, it's still, you still feel the mass in the braking in the corners, in, in everywhere.
And, and it, and even that car's harder on consumables than than like then my Laser is like it, it chews through brakes and tyres a lot quicker because, you know, it's, it's heavier.
You, you, you can't, you, you can't.
I mean, it's not the car's fault that, that, that it's chewing those parts more. It's just because it's it just
use them more. So I, I find it really, I find
it really, yeah, I just mind boggling that like and I and I, I know and Chris Harris will be there sliding it around corner saying, oh, this is fantastic because all BMWs are to him.
But, And, and that's cool and all, but the, the end of the day, mass is mass. And, and I, I just think that's,
I think it's a, that's a ridiculous number for a performance car. The other thing is Can you
imagine 2 1/2 tonnes eating some of the potholes we've got in Vic? I mean, imagine the the
destruction that'll be wrought on on alloy rims and tyres and.
What What? Maybe the conspiracy is that
they're trying to make cars heavier so it can tax you more for heavier cars and therefore the heavier it is, the more you pay. That's a well, that's a good
point. I mean like on the toll roads
and stuff they charge, they charge heavier cars more.
I believe so. Oh, why are you charging my M5
the price of a truck? Because it weighs the size of
the price of the truck. The the size of the truck.
So yeah. So, so so that's your that's
your opinion, David. What about you, Rob?
Are you, you in the same boat? You do you reckon that it's
just, it's it's it's it's all a ploy.
No, I, I, I just feel that they've, they're just worried about comfort and they're trying to meet everyone's requirements and, and it's just turned out to be a fat car.
Yeah, Scotty. So I feel like that the cars are
like your lounge room now, kind of.
They're built for comfort. They cover everything.
The performance is there because that's the bragging rights.
And I feel like the people that would be buying this car, you're never going to feel the wait anyway because it's just going to be a daily. They're just going to buy it for
the status that it has got an M5 badge on it, but it's never going to be used for anything else other than that.
And I feel BMW know that to easily make it heavier, it doesn't matter. And it doesn't matter to them
that if the brakes cost 10 grand to replace, because you know, they've paid however much, this is going to be a couple 100,000 anyway. So to them that's not going to
mean too much to them, you'd happily pay it, whether how much it is, they'll take it to the BMW dealer and pay for it.
That's when it starts going down the line and it depreciates and ends up in the 3rd 4th owner. They're the ones that will be
spew and going what you know, 10 grand for brakes to change the discs and things like that. That's that's when you're going
to see the complaints and things coming in about it being so heavy. But and then it might get a
little bit more thrashed. But the first owners in those
cars, it's just going to plot around town.
It's going to end up in Brunswick.
And the service advisors don't use 1000 word in the services anyway. They just say, oh, today that's
come to 343564 and it goes on the credit card and pops your own pool. Yeah.
And off they go. They don't look at anything.
So yeah, look, things are still, there's going to be cars out there that are just going to keep getting heavier and heavier. Will they catch up to a Rolls
Royce? Maybe.
My question, are they trying to get like sell in the US and be like we'll get heavy enough to classified as a truck and then we don't have to worry about certain regulations.
That's the goal, is slowly, slowly get the car, yeah.
We'll just make a Mackey and that way your carbon credits seek outweigh the other or whatever they do.
It's like you said, Maddie, like I've been driving the MX5 and then driving the STI. You know, there's a there's a
few 100 kilos in those difference.
Yeah, again, you definitely feel it.
It's you can't not feel it. And the fact that that exists is
just like, no, this isn't a proper sports car anymore.
Like if you want to go to sports track, you do have to shed some weight. Anyone that that does anything
track wise, the biggest and quickest way to get fast from the track? Reduce weight.
Yeah, yeah. It's like you can, you can up,
you can increase your brakes, whatever.
No, if you just reduce weight out of the car, you're automatically getting the best performance boost for the cheapest amount usually. You can brake later.
You've got, you know, you can, you can do also.
It's, it's, it's less on, you know, you use less, less fuel because you've got, you're moving less mass around you.
Accelerate faster. You can go through a corner
faster. Correct.
And, you know, this throws all of that out the window in the name of something luxury, something, charge the customer more money, something. Yeah.
And. You know Rolls Royce Cullinan
only weighs 2660 kilometres. That is all you need to know.
BMW, I mean, it's the same company, right?
Like it's the same company. It's the, the, the M5's a
Cullinan at this point, isn't it?
So. Yep.
Wow, BMW Cullinan. See.
Don't say that. We already had somebody at work
try to claim that he's BMW 3 Series without the badges on the back so you can't tell what it is exactly.
Is the same as a Rolls Royce. Yeah, he's he's he's been
rightly so mocked into oblivion for that.
But you know, if we, if we keep at it, you know, it might give him some legitimacy. Just a question Manny, just your
your MR2 way. Just over 1000 kilos.
OK. Which maybe actually because
like it's heavy in MX5, but they had to be because they had to put 5 bulk heads in it due to the fact that the engine's been mounted. Right, OK.
And the MX, the the Miata. MX5's like 1002 kilos like
they're just over 1000. OK.
And you know what the P-76 was back in 1973?
Here we go. 12150 kilos. How much?
12150 kilos. That's actually not bad.
That's that's pretty my laser's 1200 kilos.
Thank you very much. And.
Yeah, it's pretty good. So, so that's not actually my
laser and that's a that's a full size car.
And I was just looking at the, the stats for the cars back in there. They've done a comparison
between the P-76 to Falcon, the Valiant and Holden.
And they rated it out of whatever, I don't know, 20 or whatever for fuel economy and whatnot.
The V Eights and the P-76 actually was the most fuel economical car in the V8. Weight.
Weight makes a difference guys. Weight makes.
There you go. Well, Rob had to get the final
thoughts about the P-76, so he's he's in these.
I just the car like I said the weight the the monocoque and 5050, the P-76 actually weighed 5050 weight distribution front and back. Which is impressive for a car
back then too. Like it's it's it is a shame
that it didn't it didn't do as well as it as they would have hoped, because I would have loved to have seen it been a successful car. I know, Rob, you would have
loved to have seen it because it.
Would have been a fat car by now, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, it'll be, it'll be the P7 tonne 6.
That's right. Yeah, anyway, gents, I think
we've made an information and had our professional opinion on the on the M5. Let's move on to the Carquest.
So Carter, Carquest 10 questions plus some bonus questions.
Question one, what major automotive event is returning to Melbourne next year? Scott.
Scott. The Motor Show.
The motor show is correct Scotty, well done.
Yeah, I wonder about that. The the The advertising's out
for it now. Wait.
If it doesn't return, does that mean Dave gets for?
Oh, sorry, it's. That right in retrospect.
In like a future episode of like.
That's the time being motor show like we know.
Remember motor shows, that's the thing you know.
Yeah, it's going to be a little bit different I reckon, but it'll yeah, they're still calling it the Motor Show.
Not not the International Motor Show, but they're calling it the motor. Show the motor show and it's
going to be at the showgrounds, is it?
No, no, I'm pretty sure it's still at the.
Expression. Yeah, OK.
Showgrounds would be all. Bonus question, when was the
last one in Melbourne held? Good question.
Rob Rob 2005 Incorrect. No, David.
David. Do we get closest to if we
can't? Get no.
I'll take a year on this one because it's it, it's.
I want to say 2012. Incorrect.
That was, Yep, that Alan. I'll call this was back in the
that one you need days. I think it was 2011. 2011 is
correct, Alan. Well done.
I would have been one off. I was going to say 2010.
I worked at the 2010 one so it knew it was after then.
Oh, OK. Question 2.
John Cena has recently updated his daily driver, David.
You bought another type art. He did buy another type R Yeah,
so he saw he he traded in his FK 8 for an FL5 FL.
Five, Yeah. Well done David.
Question 3 The Mitsubishi Magna all wheel drive system was called what? Oh, David.
David, I think. It's what is it Quadra track.
Incorrect. That's Holden.
I think they had, I think there, yeah, although they had cross track, I can't remember. It was one of the.
Trick was the model but not the system.
And damn, I should know that Andrew won't be happy with.
Me sorry. He's going to be Andrew, you
know, he's banned, he's off the committee, he's done.
He's the full the old drive system.
What was it called, gentlemen? Jeez, can't remember.
It wasn't arguably Australia's greatest 4 wheel drive car.
Oh. He was probably the was.
You guys out? No idea.
No idea. Yeah, nothing.
Quad. Tech.
It was called Quad Tech. Question 4A Toyota Mirai has
been used in the Ukraine as a what?
This is the recent news. It's been, it's been used in the
Ukraine as a what, David? I don't really know, but I was
going to say rocket launcher. Rocket launch is incorrect.
Alum. Alum.
This is it's they've used it as a weapon, an explosive weapon.
I'll take that. I'll take it.
Oh, that's right. I do remember now.
Yeah, there's some. It's got to do with the
batteries in. It or something yeah, so they.
There's a massive bomb. Correct.
They used. That's exactly right.
They made it into a. They took the hydrogen somewhere
and made a bomb. Yeah, fuel cell that that's.
Yeah, yeah. Toyota is not one I think we'd
be having. Bonus question 1st.
Question How many people did they kill?
No, no, it's along with along with plastic explosives attached to the to to the hydrogen tank. This created a bomb worthy of
how many pounds of TNT I'll give you guys a closest to.
How many pounds of TNT? I'm going to say 320. 320, says
Scotty. I'd say 5000. 5000, says Rob.
I'll say 500. 500 is David Ellen.
I'm just trying to do so when they say kiloton as explosive just. Saying number Ellen.
How big is the car again? No comment.
I think I'll do pounds of TNT. OK?
Does it say how many people they killed?
It doesn't. It just, it just told me how
many pounds of TNT that was. All right, let's just go with
700. 700 Scotty was closest to 357 lbs of TNT.
That's a That's a lot of TNT. Question 5 Forward has released
figures of its sales for the new Ranger Raptor sold in 2023 to current. How many have been sold?
I'll give closest to as well on this one I.
Feel like every one of them is a Raptor.
Yeah, just about. So from 2023 to current.
Correct SO. A year, basically.
Yeah, it's been a year on sale. So how?
How many have they sold? I'll throw out there 8000 cars.
8000 cars, says Rob, AK David. I'll say 18. 18K This is just
the Raptor. Remember?
Just the Raptor, Scotty and alum.
I'm going to say, how many did Rob say today?
OK, eight. I'll go 10. 10, says Scotty.
I'll go 11 1/2. 11 1/2 it is 10,000 Scotty.
They've sold 10,000 of the damn things, my brother included.
I got 2 just in my street. Yeah.
Bonus question, besides like obviously brands like performance brands like Lotus and and Ferrari and stuff, how many other brands did the Raptor itself outsell in Australia last year? The Raptor, it sold at 10,000.
OK. How many other brands did it
outsell? Yeah.
Rob, I'll just add a guess about 8:00.
Eight is incorrect. Oh, it's got to be higher than
that because there'd be plenty of brands that I.
Thought I was just thinking of the top 10.
Can we just do closest to that? Yeah, all right, I'll, I'll,
I'll do. I'll do closest too.
I'll do closest too. How many?
How many did you say, Rob? I said 8.
But I said eight. OK, Rob says 8.
All right. I'll say 18. 18, says Scotty. 60
brands so plus maybe more. David. 25. 25, says David and
Ellen. We're including like the luxury
manufacturers, yeah. Or not correct?
Correct, yes. Just just not like Ferrari and
Lamborghini and stuff like that. OK, not.
Just just your mainstream brands that we're we're talking, you know. OK, we'll go with 14. 14 is on
the money, 14 brands, Jeep, Citroen, all these brands that that they didn't sell anywhere near as many one.
How would you feel one model I was selling your your whole your whole bloody thing. That's crazy.
Question six, You were talking mainstream and you used Citroen in the in the same breach. Well, Citroen is technically a
mainstream car, but anyway, question six I'm.
I'm I'm not calling shenanigans. I can't call shenanigans.
Question six. I'm I'm channelling my inner
Scotty from last week, who made the Twingo, the Five and the Zoe David. Reno.
Reno is correct. Score.
Check. Robbie at the score.
Come on, Rob, you're so close. David on two, Scotty and Alan on
three apiece. Still anybody's game.
Question 7. Where was the Holden brand
founded? David.
David. Well, South Australia.
Yeah, I'll take that. I'll pay that in the South
Australia, SA, Adelaide to be exact.
Yeah. Question 8.
What brand has recently pulled out of selling cars in Australia? David.
David. We've mentioned in the last few
minutes, haven't we? On the show.
Yeah, just a nice few discussion.
No, I'm backed up the wrong tree.
I was going to say Citroen, but that's.
Citroen. Citroen is correct, that is.
Correct. Oh, there you go.
OK, yeah, after 101 years of continuously selling cars in Australia after. 101 years, Absolutely.
Good readings. Boxes Anyway, not at work.
How many cars did Citroen sell last year?
Bonus question. Rob.
Rob. At a guess, 200. 200, I'll give
closest to 200, yeah. I think it was less than that.
I'm going to say 50. 50 cars, says David.
I'm going to say 250. 250, says Scotty and Ellen.
So we got 250. 250. 180. 180 closest to was Scotty 228 they
sold last year. Question 9 which GMC has been
greenlit for Australia? Sure yeah which GMC model has
been grand lit for Australia? Yeah sure.
Well. GMC models.
It's that one that's a potato brand.
What's sake? Yukon Gold?
Well, no, Yukon Gold's a potato. It's the Yukon.
The car. It's the Yukon that is correct,
That is absolutely correct. Right.
Oh, thank goodness for them. We're so relieved.
We need another one of those. We we, we needed that car and
it's coming in Denali spec top of the range too, just so.
Yeah, so a cool 150 grand. Easy.
Still cheaper than the car we're about to talk about, though, so score check. 4 to Scotty, 4 to David, 4 to alum Rob.
You get this, Rob. But here's the thing.
Rob's been so close. You've been picked by Scotty on
all those like, you know, just by like by one or two points.
Yeah. I'm just able to call.
You today I'll give it to you. Go on, take it.
Now question 10. The new BMW M5 Touring will be
priced in Australia. From what Alum?
I believe it's 263,000. I'll pay that alum.
Well done to be exact. Because I looked it up earlier
when we were looking. At this fix, 263,900 to be
exact, but I'll pay that alum. Well done.
That is a That is the Car Quiz alum sneaks in home with the last point of the day. Rob's shaking his head.
He can't believe it. Yeah, Scotty switched off his
computer. David.
Shenanigans 'cause he looked up the price earlier.
In the yeah, it's not good that these the tests, Nah, Nah.
It's like studying for the test. You're like, you're like study
for the test. Score Check.
Rob Zero, Scotty David. Four piece.
During the test usually though. Yeah, I'm just a famous saying,
if you ain't first, you're last. Four or zero, you still last.
Well, don't they always say second coming?
Second is the first loser. That's that's right.
That's yeah, that's right. There you go.
Even that the Scotty and David have to share that.
Yeah, we're we're first loser tonight, Scotty.
Yeah. That's right, you're gonna make
a better layout. I'm not that cruel.
That is Sorry. I'm gonna say I'm gonna ask you
this question, Alan. Anyone you want to thank?
I want to thank Vin Diesel. Yeah, and I want to thank BMW
for making a terrible car and making me look it up to get that winning point. I want to thank Yukon Gold
potatoes. That's about it.
Yeah, very good, Very good. Joe, I think that's a podcast.
Yep, Yep. David Prince, you do a podcast.
I, I, I do occasionally, very occasionally, we've seen it's called Auto Retro and we talk to different people about the cars of their lives. Absolutely.
Really good listening and they can find you all over the interwebs. Type in auto retro and you'll
find them there. Rob's doing it.
He's whatever you're doing, he's doing it.
He's building, he's fixing, he's changing.
He's, I don't know, renovating. He's putting out fires,
electrical, you know it. He's doing it.
Rob's doing it. He's he's beating up Vantas.
Yeah. Rob's man cave and what set up?
Yeah. Rob's being caved, so we're
gonna have to do, we're gonna have to do an episode from there. Oh.
Nice you. Don't need to sell to us, Rob,
you've been trying to kick us out.
Scotty's golfing of the week. I'm not sure if I said this one
before or if I thought about saying it before on the show and I just didn't, but when it comes to learning to swing and tempo, the best ones to watch is the female golfers.
Really. You haven't told us this one
before, OK? Yeah, the male golfers always
aim for power and really fast, quick swings and they're all, they're all different. But if you watch the women
golfers and even some of the men golfers say this, you know, if you're a beginner and that watch the professional women golfers, they got like the perfect swing you'll ever see and the perfect tempo and they're still smacking them fast.
So watch the women's golf. It's much better when it comes
to swing and tempo. You heard it here first, guys.
That's, that's, that's yeah, that's good.
Good piece of information. Amandeep Singh.
