MartiniWorks is a company that sells car parts—especially wheels—and they also help with getting tires mounted. In this segment, they’re offering special discounts for listeners.
Fiberglass repair is when the shop uses a fiberglass material to rebuild a damaged body area. After it’s shaped and smoothed, they paint over it so it looks normal.
The bumper is the outer part at the front/rear of the car that takes impacts and covers the important stuff behind it. They’re saying it doesn’t line up properly.
The BMW M6 is a performance BMW model. It uses upgraded parts compared to regular BMWs to make it faster and more capable. In the episode, they mention M6 hardware, meaning specific components from that model.
This is a clearance measurement showing extremely tight tolerances between the car’s wheels and the trailer’s inner structure. When loading a car, small differences like this can determine whether the car clears safely or gets stuck.
Engine temp is how hot the engine is getting. They’re saying you watch it while towing and change gears so it doesn’t overheat going up hills and can cool down going downhill.
A car meet is when car people get together in one place to show their cars and hang out. Some are small and casual, and some are bigger events with vendors and music.
A car show is an event where people bring cars to show them off. Some shows are competitive and give out prizes, but this one is more about hanging out than winning.
Coilovers are upgraded suspension parts that let you adjust how high or low the car sits. People use them for better driving feel and for the look of the car.
Front-wheel drive means the front wheels do the work of pushing the car. That affects how the car turns and feels when you accelerate, especially in corners.
Understeer is when you turn the wheel but the car doesn’t rotate as much as you expect. The front tires lose traction first, so the car tends to push wide.
Recaro is a well-known performance seat brand that makes supportive, track-oriented seats. Collecting and refurbishing Recaro seats is common in the enthusiast world because older models can be hard to find and are often sought after for fitment and comfort.
A carbon fiber roof is a lighter, stronger roof made from composite material. In this story, it was used to fix a rust problem caused by a leaking sunroof.

E85
E85 is a gas blend with a lot of ethanol. It can help turbo cars make more power because it runs cooler and lets the engine be tuned more aggressively.
A “24 carat gold” badge is an extremely high-end cosmetic upgrade, typically meaning the emblem is made from or plated with very pure gold. It’s the kind of detail that signals a show-car mindset and can be a conversation piece at meets.
They mention a “Berra” engine they learned about, but it’s not clear exactly what that is from the audio text alone. It sounds like a special or less-common engine used in the scene.

Get them shipped to your door with some lug nuts and valve stamps.
And ladies and gentlemen, you're ready to rock and roll for the entire season.
What did I say?
That's pretty good.
That's pretty good.
But we should start out by talking about Riverside because we spent a good amount of time getting
ready for the show.
Sure did.
Got the cars ready, and we made it down there.
Dakota, you've been there a couple, two, three times now.
How was this year?
How did this year feel for you?
Good.
It felt amazing.
We have it down to a science note at this point.
You leave at 3.30 a.m. on the dot, and you just smooth this drive of your life.
You dodge every major city traffic.
So you can take the quickest route through the major cities, but you don't get the traffic
with it because you get it at 10 a.m., lunchtime, stuff like that versus the rush hour.
So getting down there was a breeze.
Obviously, hit a couple things like there was an accident or something like that.
So traffic went back up a little bit, but overall, it was so nice.
So yeah, we got all the cars readied up, like the S15 and the PFM, and super ahead of time.
Definitely not down to the wire whatsoever.
I don't know how that snuck up on us because when we started, I feel like we were like,
damn, we're proud of ourselves.
We got ahead of it this time.
And then next thing you know, it was last minute.
I think this is how working on cars goes.
You plan as much as you can, and then you just get fucking sideswiped by something random
in the project.
And I think this time it was...
It was the paint.
It was the paint.
The paint really digged us because we had, in case you guys and gals want a little secret
behind the scenes sauce of this, we do plan out almost everything that we post because
it helps maintain our sanity, which means when we make content on the S15, our goal
is to know what we need to post, when we're going to post it, why we're going to post
it because we want it to be good.
We want you to like it.
We want to like it.
And just going out and shooting for no reason in particular usually results in dogwater
videos.
So, we had the paint for that car and the body kit fix slated three weeks prior to Riverside.
And we actually met that deadline in terms of getting the kit off and over to get painted.
That's where it needed to be.
And then we said that the paint was going to take, I think, in total seven days.
And the painter...
That's with fiberglass repair.
Yeah, and with fiberglass repair.
Fiberglass repair, paint, care, blah.
It took two weeks and two days to finalize the fiberglass repair and find the paint
code for the car.
So all the space that we had with the build got completely just eaten by that process.
Yeah, because we couldn't do a lot of the other stuff without the kit back on.
And a lot of the kit doesn't quite go on the same way it came off.
Yeah, after the fiberglass repair was done, they did an incredible job with the repair.
But obviously, that meant things got a little thicker in areas.
So it didn't go back on the exact way they did.
And actually, they actually patched up some of the areas where a screw would go through
or something like that.
And then they cleaned that up.
So maybe the screw hole was a little bit bigger or it was a little off of where it was before.
So when we went to throw the kit back on, when we finally got it back on, was that Tuesday
before you guys left on Wednesday?
It was a little a little hectic and things weren't lining up in the front bumper.
It gave us the biggest the whole front end of that car with like the headlight situation
and like the fact like four bolts mount that bumper on right now.
I almost I almost completely crashed out.
I almost didn't know.
No, no, Gels, Gels is being that he did crash out.
There was nine thirty and I'm like, yeah, this car needs to be on a trailer tomorrow morning.
Yes. So the bumper is looking like a bag of bull shit.
Not fit. Gels was not having a good time that even bless his soul.
He stayed late and we love him for it.
But like we were working on it together and, you know, he's we're kind of shifting from
side to side and having issues.
And like when Gels gets angry or like frustrated, he like narrows in on something and like to
get Gels out of that like field of sniper vision is really tricky.
Because he'd be like, this fucking thing doesn't fit.
It was just it doesn't piss.
It's so stupid part that pissed me off the most.
We're like looking back at like old like photos of the car when we got it like a fucking fit
when it came here.
They didn't really do much to the bumper outside of just like there was a crack
in the bottom of the lip. That is the only part they patched on the bumper.
Why the fuck is it not going back?
And then like the headlights, we took them off to get like a like repolish and like
stand it down to get rid of like the yellowing and stuff.
It's like the fucking headlights aren't fitting.
There's two bolts that hold the headlights on.
How is it not fitting?
And that was a part that was like, I can't wrap my head around why it is not going back
on the way that it came off.
So so we just we let that burn.
We let that fire fizzle.
No. And then when Gels was like, I just I can't.
I just need a second and he kind of went on a little walk.
Johnny came in and I said, hey, hey, Johnny.
I said, I need you to help me help me fix this.
And as we did, we kind of loosened some pieces, kind of shimmied and chammied.
And then, of course, you know, this is not our, you know, we did not build
this car from the ground up, which means there are happy little surprises
as there should be in any car that you buy.
And the number one thing that surprised us is when Gels was he was pretty flustered.
He goes, well, I don't even know.
But like, there are these bolts and I don't know where they go.
And then these just they were big, thick nuts.
There was like out of all the hardware that came out of the car was like M6 hardware.
So pretty like pretty small stuff.
And there was these giant fucking nuts.
Yeah, big one.
And he's like no sense.
But they just like when we took the bumper off, they just appeared like they just fell out of the bump.
Oh, right. So he's like, they just fell out.
I don't know where they came from.
And here we are like looking at the front of the car and the two mount points
in the grill are like pinched, like downward.
And I'm like, I'm like, I think those are spacers.
He's like, no, he's like, no, I think those are spacers.
Like, no, like, why would they use this?
Why would they use this to space it?
I'm like, I don't know.
I just anything else.
I just I think that it's, you know, a space is like, I don't I don't think that I don't.
OK. And then Johnny Johnny comes in and we have the same exact conversation.
Johnny looks at he goes, oh, those are probably the space out the bumper.
So it was a it was it was tough because it was yeah, it was late on Tuesday.
But what what we did, so we got the car done, it was like nine o'clock, I think.
So, you know, kiss gels on the forehead, goodbye.
Got everything kind of taken care of, packed things up for my wife.
And then immediately drove about 45 seconds because the cars weren't the only issue.
Yeah, drove 45 seconds west to to then work with Dustin.
And when I say work, I mean, just support emotionally and financially
to replace the transfer box in his LBZ, because that went out Tuesday morning.
Oh, so so now you might be saying, Alex, what about the C4500?
Hey, what about the C4500 we were going to take down?
Yeah, so about that, we ran into an issue with that as well.
I'm really surprised. One of the rear brake calipers.
So I told Dustin, because it was Sunday when he was working on the truck,
you know, Sunday before we left.
And I'm like, homie, I love you.
And I appreciate all the work that you're doing.
I said, and I mean this without taking it too seriously.
But I am not.
I refuse to drive a 10,000 pound truck
with 15,000 pounds worth of cars behind it on a vehicle build
that we can't manage to get three miles without a brake line failing,
a caliper seizing, a coolant line popping or a turbo surge happening.
I'm not taking that truck.
We need to find an alternative.
And so we did.
We had to go all the way to the cross, get a different truck,
which is three hours away, come back, then LBZ, new transfer case,
put that in by a wedge trailer, bought a wedge trailer.
That's ours now.
Three car, three car.
It's kind of dope.
Nice trailer.
And then worked on that till about midnight.
And then the next morning got up.
It was 15 degrees outside and loaded all five cars onto the trailer
in the middle of an ice sheet storm fuckfest.
And then we went down.
So yeah, it was great.
It was as insane, way better down there.
There was a there was a very close crash out.
I do have to tell you guys about that morning that we were loading the cars.
The PFM went on the flatbed along with the R34, the flat trailer.
No issues. Life is good, right?
Datsun's next narrow little tiny car.
Yeah, wheelbase in that one.
Wheelbase, very narrow.
Get it up to the trailer, start rolling it up.
We're having issues.
Everything's icy, very cold.
There's no traction.
Those are AO 52s.
And I'm like, this is scary.
The second reason it's scary is because we just did another oil change
and I don't want the car to sit like this with an RB in it
because the oil is not going to recirculate to the front of the top end
because they say that you really don't want to keep those cars running
like this for a long period of time.
So we're going up and we forget that this new trailer that we bought
has a ledge on the inside.
I'm like, safety first.
Great. I hate safety.
The U-Haul trailers had the same thing.
We went up and when Dustin first looked underneath,
we didn't think that we were going to be able to put that car on the trailer.
Oh, because it stuck with the spark.
It was too narrow.
And the actual distance, I measured it,
the actual distance on both sides of the inside of the wheels of the Datsun
to the trailer flange was literally three-eighths of an inch.
Oh, my God.
So that's literally like putting it on a rail all the way up the track.
It was this much space on one side.
This much space on the other side.
Oh, it's like, no, there's nothing there then.
Yeah.
Oh, my God. That's fucking terrifying.
So there was a lot of trust.
Dustin did a great job.
We got the car on the trailer and then quite literally,
you could have turned that car on, like put it in neutral, let it roll off.
And there wasn't a chance the car was going to go anywhere besides back
because the wheels were so tight to it.
The turning radius was like five degrees on both sides.
And that was it.
All right. Well, it was pretty fun, though.
And what did you drive down?
I am a semi truck hauler.
I drove Dustin's truck with a 46er.
The big three car on it?
The two car.
It was just a quite long car on it.
But.
And then I got pulled over.
There it is.
If you guys ever want to test your patience and your calmness,
come hang out with me 72 hours before we have to go across the country
because it will challenge you.
We got 30 minutes into that drive, 30 goddamn minutes into that drive.
And I got pulled over by a state goddamn trooper.
Four foot six, nice, nice guy.
Not bad.
Very first thing he says to me as for license and registration.
I say, here's my license and here's the registration.
And he's like, do you have proof of insurance?
And I'm like, I don't know where that is.
Let me call the owner of this truck.
And he goes, you know, I pulled you over and I said, no.
He goes, well, in the state of Wisconsin,
you can only have your wheels sticking out two inches from the fender.
And it looks like your wheels are sticking out much further than that.
Really?
I'm an insert picture of Dustin's truck.
The best part was he goes, it looks to be about five inches.
And I just immediately responded with, I was like, well,
you know how it is with guys and measuring things,
two inches, five inches kind of depends on who you ask.
And he looked at me and I was like, this is either going to go great or terrible.
And he laughed.
And I was like, oh, thank God.
So we serenaded him as I called Dustin.
And I'm like, does any of your fucking proof of insurance?
I need to like now.
And he starts asking me all of these questions about the truck.
And I, for that 30 minute traffic stop,
I was the dumbest human being on that highway.
Now I knew nothing.
Yeah, I don't know, man, I'm a truck.
Is this lifted?
And I'm like, no, I don't think so.
I think it's a picture of the truck.
I was like, I think it's stuck.
He's like, oh, really?
I've been trying to think about maybe lifting my truck,
but I can't find any examples.
I'm like, yeah, I just think these are big wheels.
You know, I think that's why it's a little bit higher.
And he's like, well, you know the headlights?
Like the headlights aftermarket?
Like, do you have some different stuff there?
I'm like, no, no, no, no.
These are just, you know, nice headlights.
He was trying to get you, man.
And he's like, so the car is on the back, that yellow one.
Is that a, I see collector plates on it.
Is that, do you drive that vehicle on the road?
And I'm like, well, it's actually part of the 25 year law.
It's from Japan.
So yeah, I mean, we can drive it on.
I was like, yeah, that muffler, it looks illegal.
Oh my God.
And I'm like, and I said, well, great news.
It's not a fucking trailer.
I said, great news for both of us.
It's on a trailer.
And secondly, it's exempt.
And he kind of gave him his license.
He went back to the car.
But yeah, I mean, he was nice, but you could tell.
Like he was asking all the questions to see what I could get.
It's slimy.
I don't like that.
I don't want to get you.
They always want to get you.
So he came back to me, got me four warnings, window tint.
At least it was, honestly, I'm surprised he even
lets you over the warning.
Yeah, window tint, the wheels sticking out.
Dustin did not display his license plate tag.
It was old.
And then, I don't know, some other stupid thing.
But the funniest part was is like, Becca was also there.
So she was making him giggle a little bit.
And she's like, you have stuff to measure wheels and measure tint?
And he's like, well, yeah.
And she goes, why?
And he's like, well, just to make sure that everyone's
following the law.
And she's like, so you carry around a tape measure as a job.
And so on the way back, he comes walking through the snow
and sure as shit, he's got this tape measure with him.
And he's like, yeah, this is what we use to measure the wheels.
And Becca goes, can you measure it?
And he goes, what?
She goes, can you measure his wheels?
I want to take a video.
And so he goes, sure.
And he walks back to the wheels and measures it.
And as he does it, both of us have our phones out the window
recording this guy.
And then I turned the phone around and I said to Dustin,
I'm like, you fucked me, Dustin.
Out there really, you know, they're saving the world out there.
It was, he was nice.
I mean, I get it.
They've got laws to enforce, even though they're silly laws.
But we got back on the road.
And yeah, I mean, it was, I've never hauled something that long before
and that amount of weight.
But Chevy did great.
And then on the way back, did the same thing.
Even through like the 5% grade with the runoffs and everything.
Yeah. I mean, we, Dustin is a great teacher with that sort of stuff.
And he's hauled for a long time.
And I've hauled stuff too for quite a while,
even though I don't look the part whatsoever.
So as long as I knew like what the temps needed to be at,
and then how to put it into manual overdrive and downshift,
because his LBZ, and I'm assuming all LBZs,
like the coolant system runs on engine RPM.
So if you're going uphill right and you're kind of climbing in temp,
and you start going downhill, it's automatically going to throw it into sixth,
lowest RPM, which lowers the amount of coolant that's flushing to the system.
So if you throw it back down into like fourth,
and you let the RPM just kind of hang high,
and you let that engine braking do what it needs to do,
or the turbo braking do what it needs to do, it cools it down.
So when we were coming through edge of Kentucky into Tennessee,
when we were going up the hills, we probably peaked at like
two, 208, 210 for engine temp.
And then on the way back down, I popped it into fourth.
It was probably a minute on the decline.
And when I got back down to the bottom, it was 180.
So it works super, super well.
So as long as you're keeping an eye on that, the brakes and that truck are fantastic.
Dustin's got a good truck.
That truck is sick.
Very jealous that I've managed to spend $70,000 on our truck,
and his $17,000 truck can do all of the same things more reliably.
That's wild.
Shut up.
They're both Chevy's though.
They are both Chevy's.
So let that tell you that once my truck's running, they ain't going to brake.
Yep.
Yeah, because you're going to sell it.
So what would you guys think of this Airbnb?
This is the first time we stayed at this Airbnb.
Don't know.
No.
This question is for you.
How did you enjoy the Airbnb Mr. RC plane bonafide air pilot?
You too.
You were driving like flying like a madman too.
Dude, we had a pier.
We were right on the river directly on the river.
So you could walk down, walk out on the pier.
Me and Gels brought our RC planes and we were float flying off the river.
It was fucking sick.
The weather was perfect.
Dude, it must have been like the, I don't maybe want to say the, I don't know, live there.
But it must have been like the first like super nice weekend down there this season.
Yeah.
Let's do it.
Everyone was out enjoying it.
It hit like 80 degrees, like both, both the days we were down there.
And then it was like 70 something like the first day and dude, it was just gorgeous.
My, my favorite part was the 19 people in total at the Airbnb.
Did we really?
Yeah.
Maybe a little less shit.
We got everybody parked.
We parked one of the 46 footers backwards in a probably 10 foot wide driveway.
Absolutely insanity.
Dustin's a legend.
Dustin's a legend for that.
That's a whole, that was magic.
Got everything parked, got all the groceries in, you know, we're kind of getting like
drinks made, unwinding, exploring.
It took Dakota and Gels approximately five minutes, I think, from like being set into
the Airbnb to having these ginormous RC planes out ready to fly.
And it was the most insane thing.
I got into the forerunner and I immediately threw a battery on charge.
I walked out to the front to like grab a picture of the cars because they were all set up in
front of the garage.
And here I am like trying to get the shot, turning down the exposure.
And then all of a sudden I just see, and I was like, I looked it back.
I'm like, was that a plane?
And she's like, I don't know.
And I'm like, what?
And then suddenly I see another row.
And I'm like, the fucking boys are already out of the water.
Hell yeah.
Dude, the dock was sick.
It was a huge dock.
As soon as we got sent the photos of the Airbnb, I told Dakota we're bringing float planes
because there's no way I'm not.
And dude, beautiful location because we stayed in the last three times we went down.
I think we stayed in the same Airbnb, like the big like mansion that we would call it.
And it was kind of out of the way.
It was always done that like ridiculous dirt road so all the cars would get filthy every night.
And it was like 35, 40 minute drive from like the event.
This one, much closer, right on the river, beautiful views, a lot easier to get to.
And dude, it was such a vibe.
Yeah, it was nice because it had two different houses that were on the same property.
So we kind of split up where people stayed.
But we're always worried like the communal space is what we want.
Because if you guys don't know like the martini works, the whole team goes down.
The team, martini works like covers the whole thing.
But then like we do dinners together and lunches together.
So like we need the communal space to be able to house all the people at one time.
And then different people sign up for different shifts for different things to make.
So like we had ramen, we did lasagna one night, walking tacos another night,
and then breakfast in the morning, traditional eggs, pancakes.
So then we get silly stupid dumb on the patio at night.
And it's like, that was nice.
It was beautiful.
Oh my God, what a reset from this weather though.
It was a really nice escape from the literal three feet of snow that we got.
It made me want to move to Tennessee.
I get it.
Honestly, I get it.
I mean, yeah, we got done with the whole thing.
And even like when we were loading up the cars down there, it was like,
man, this ain't too bad.
It's like, no shit, it's not too bad.
It's 72 degrees outside.
Yeah, like nine o'clock at night.
No, no, it was good.
I think a lot of people travel for that show.
If you guys want to stick around for the next segment,
we're going to talk about how the show was, why the show is so special,
why we care about it so much as like a brand as Martini Works,
and then talk a little bit about our experience with some of the folks that we met.
So before we do that, we want to give a shout out to our sponsor,
the Martini Works podcast, which is, of course, Continental Tire.
As we jump into the season, definitely worth snagging a set of Continental ECSO2s or DWSO6s.
If you guys don't know, you get a custom discount if you package those with wheels at MartiniWorks.com.
We have a bunch of stock ready to rock and roll, absolutely fantastic tire.
You guys have heard us say this many, many times, and we're going to continue to say it.
So if you want a tire that can get it all done, that's reliable, has a great warranty,
you know, it's priced well, and it can get the job done on any kind of car,
cannot recommend Continental Tire enough.
And if you're looking to get a set, you can head on over to MartiniWorks.com
and pick up a set of Continental tires, shift right to your door as fast as you want to.
It's pretty sick. So we will be right back.
So Gels, Riverside 11, tell us what the event is for people who may not have heard of it before.
Yeah. So essentially it is a spring meet, even though we call it a show and everything like that.
It essentially isn't really a show. There's no awards or anything like that.
But like, man, it is like show caliber and more, if I would say, when it comes to the actual cars
themselves. So being up here in Wisconsin, this is really like our first, like, car event of the
year, essentially. And even for a lot of people, like, you know, the season does really start to
kick up in the spring. Spring meets are pretty popular. So this one specifically, we've been
going to for, this was our fifth year in attendance, which was super frickin' awesome.
And yeah, it is right downtown Chattanooga next to, there's like a baseball field down there.
And they have their First Horizons Pavilion, which is a super cool venue. It's like indoor but
outdoor at the same time. Makes for some absolutely incredible photos and things like that. But it
is literally just an excuse to come bring out some dope cars, trucks, motorcycles, whatever
is on wheels. There was a frickin' airplane there last year. Literally, I'm not even kidding.
There was a cow there last year. There was literally a cow there last year. Speedy Cophead
is like Cessna, like race car airplane thing that he brought. He always brings something really crazy.
But yeah, it is, and it's just to come hang out and have a good time, music.
It's essentially turned into kind of like a two day event with what they call the rehearsal on
Friday night, which we got there Friday, set up the booth, and pretty much hung out until
the afternoon there. And all the food trucks fired up, all the vendors got their stuff going,
and then it like, you know, went into the night. So it was really cool to see like cars at night,
like the vendor booths all lit up at night, and then a bunch of live music and stuff that was
going on. And dude, it is just a straight vibe. And then that just sets everything up for the
actual main event on Saturday, which is when, you know, all spectator, all that kind of stuff
goes on. And, and dude, it's, it's just such a good time. Like we've set up a four on the
podcast. I'm sure you guys have heard it's like the vibes are immaculate, the cars are dope,
the people are better. Yeah. Yeah. Dakota, what did you find at Riverside that made this year
maybe more special than years past? Is there anything that like stood out to you?
Yeah, I had multiple people come up and give me Pokemon cards, which was fucking awesome.
That was true. Yeah. One guy came up, he had ascended heroes, ETB stuff just came out. Yeah.
Pulling a premium right now. And he's like, open this with me. And I'm like, what? He's like,
open it with me. I'm like, all right. So we just started ripping packs. And dude, I got a like
a Toca Kiss full art and he brought sleeves with them and he let me keep it. And like,
it was just such a cool experience. And that's what it, I feel like it really embodies is come
for the cars, stay for the people that's their slogan. And that's exactly what it is. The cars
are always phenomenal. You see some of the best builds. Yes. In the US there, 100% every year.
And then the people you meet and you catch up with down there, it's just perfect every time.
And it, I like it more than shows, honestly. I love the idea of just as big meat, there's
less stress, there's less people competing and it's more just hanging out and coming to
see people and friends again. And Riverside's really going all out and they spend a lot of
time with the attention to detail that others don't. I mean, you walk around the venue and there's
Riverside just advertisements like how they did their logos and stuff. Yeah, the logo was every
and every year changes. They have like a different style, different art style kind of stuff.
This year was like traditional like tattoo style. And it looked super cool. They even had a person
they're doing tattoos. You could get tattoos, you could do photo booth. They had an entire thrift
store with different thrift vendors. All of that was branded the same too. Even the map,
they put up like an own like event map like outside and like that was all branded with their
stuff. It was so sick. Yeah, I think one of the coolest parts about Riverside is that it's not
a car show. There's no trophies to give out. Mason and the team are an incredible group of
people that we've supported since, you know, 2022. And in case you guys didn't know, 2022 was the year
that I'd left my previous place of employment. And I remember going to Riverside kind of feel
like big shit. Did not feel good. Actually, it wasn't even going to go. And I think it was Dustin
and Gretchen and all those guys and gals that were like, you should go. And I remember going
and didn't even have a booth, didn't have anything, just brought the car down. And
one of the guys, Dak was looking for another booth car to have, I think at the obsessed booth
and asked me if I wanted to have the Ferrari in and I said, sure. So we had that car in the next
morning that that was a really cool experience. And like during that whole time, kind of shared
with some people what was going on and talked about martini works and kind of talked about this
idea. And everybody there was so supportive and excited and just like willing to listen and kind
of give me some of the proverbial uppies to make me feel better about the idea that we push through
with it. And so I attribute, you know, a lot of kind of the initial foundations of martini works to
to Riverside. And so as we've grown, we've always tried to give back to that event in any way
that we can in any way that we can help Mason and his team. And so like this year, we gave away a
set of general tires, we gave away a set of Motegi racing wheels, and we gave away a set
of airlift performance coilovers to different people. Kind of like our way of helping making
the build happen. And so Mason's always super, super thankful for that, but we're really thankful
for him and his team. They're a great group of people. It is a really cool thing. You see that too
of like, you know, where it kind of all started because even the next year when we, you know,
came on board and went down and kind of officially announced like the martini work stuff, like
launched the website literally that weekend and was like, Hey, this is a thing. Yeah. That was
that event. And it just worked so well because I had never gone to that event before that.
And I think, you know, we've gotten so used to a lot of like the bigger shows and stuff like that
and all the stuff that comes along with it. And it was just such like a refreshing
place to be of like, this is different. And I love it. And this is what I want martini works to
encapsulate. Like this, what is going on right here? Riverside is mature. I feel like if I were to
boil it down is it's one of the biggest differences between like that and something like a Gatlinburg
is like Riverside is mature. Like in at its core, it's very mature. It's not to say anything is bad
about other events, but it's like the concept of doing donuts at the show or making a big
storm at the show or making a big foot. It like doesn't exist there because the maturity level
and the quality of cars is like so high that the people that did build the cars and the people
that are inside the pavilion and the people that have put this stuff together, like they know
better. Yeah, just know better. It's not in the sense of like mature is in like like
ordering or super or tighter strict. It's not like that. Like they have live bands playing and
there's mosh pits and like people are having a good time. It's just like no one is an idiot.
No one's being a tool. Yeah, no one's being a tool. Everyone's chill. Everyone's understanding.
Everyone's on the same page while they're at Riverside. And I think that's why it like I try to
think of it while I'm there and I'm like, why, why does this feel so different than everything
else? And I think it just to when stuff works really good and it's smooth, you don't realize
what's going on as much to when something starts going wrong. And the whole show just operates
smoothly. Yeah, everything goes according to plan besides getting down there. Yeah,
and that's honestly just for us because we're coming from literally the fucking great white north
about 12 hour drive and March. March is just a sketchy month up here. I will say the the cars
and the show, I think the the people that that come out for this event,
they bring some really interesting stuff. And I think I want to talk a couple minutes about some
of the cool things that we found there that we thought maybe might be a little little little
vision into the future, if you will, because some of the car I tell you what, there's some
young folk that were there as well. Immaculate taste. I met a dude who had a 1989, 1979,
Mercedes 560, SEC. I mean, AMG kit, whole nine yards, big blocky five spokes,
arrow kit, interiors, gorgeous, you know, like OEM seats. And I was just like,
ogling over this car and talk to him about how that was the reason that gray market cars got banned
in the United States. We started going back and forth about AMG. Then we started talking about
design cues and he knew who designed the car and why the car has this and this and this. And I was
like, God damn, did I love that interaction? Like he bought this car because he loved the car and
he knew the history of the 560 SEC. And that was super sick. And then I go and I talked to a dude
who tracks Likwamali branded Volkswagen Beetles. Hell yeah. And he's talking to me about how
front wheel drive cars for track courses and for rentals actually teach a lot of people the
how to handle understeer and how to handle torque steer and the difference in this and this and
like every person I talked to had so much education and so much passion behind these freaking
wonky and weird cars. It's so true. We ran into the gentleman's, I can't remember his name off the
top of my head and apologize. But he had that Mazda protégé and he has had it forever. It was
like engines swapped full like track build like half caged like all this sort of stuff. He's like,
yeah, bodies got like over 200 some thousand miles or almost 300,000 miles. I think he's like,
I love this car. I can't hear it. He's like, I love driving this Mazda protégé and I'm like,
that is such a like just out there pick for a track car. But he was like showing us like pictures
and stuff. And he rips on this thing. Big Mazda guy. He just picked up an RX-8 too. Then he was
like really looking forward to that. And I thought that was super sick. But yeah, it was like, yeah,
every person you talked to, we talked to this guy. He had like a little booth set up and he's like,
he just he like collects and refurbishes and repairs recaro seats. Yeah, like that's what he
does. That's his hobby. And like, he's like, I just have a ton of recaro seats. And he's like,
yeah, I got part seats. I got, you know, like he imports them, fixes them up and sells them here.
And yeah, I mean, there's a cookie, shout out cookie. He had 240 and his sunroof was leaking.
And that was causing the roof to start rusting. So what do you do? Naturally, you cut the entire
roof out and replace with a carbon fiber roof. I was like, what? What the hell? What do you mean?
That's what you did. That's insane. And it was done so well. It looked factory. It was done so well.
And just he was so nice and so kind showing me around the car every bit of it. And he was pumped
about it. I was pumped about it's like, everyone you go talk to has a story with their build,
which is exactly what we're doing, right? Like with the build threads. That's the kind of stuff
we want to hear because it's just so unique. And it makes the car that much where it's like,
you like a car, then you talk to its owner, now you love the car. Yeah, it was, there's not like
one person that was there. It's like, Oh, like what, what tell me about your billings like,
I don't know. I just wanted to know as I did it because that the internet thought it was cool.
That wasn't a thing. Yeah, dude, everyone, everyone's so nice. I do have to give a huge
shout out to a few folks. Matt, let me drive his like 630 horsepower R32 GTR Jesus on E85 24 psi.
So he let me drive that because we're doing, we're launching a new series. I mean, the car is
absolutely immaculate. He wanted this car because he was, you know, racing them when he was a kid
in Gran Turismo and seeing the cars in the Fast and Furious movies and stuff like that.
Then he had a friend, his name was Carl, who had a 1JZ swapped wide body Mazda RX7.
I got to drive that as well, which was super, super fun and absolutely opposite. Like driving that
R32 at 600 horsepower was insane because of how smooth everything was. And that car was absolutely
gorgeous. And then Alik let me, we learned about Alik's Toyota Cressida, which was a 860 horsepower
Toyota Cressida. Deep carry red. Yes. Oh my God, those things were immaculate. They were insane.
And then his twin brother also has a Toyota Cressida. And so we got to check that out together,
which was super, super fun. And then his twin has a more stock experience with his was like 320
horsepower, but super immaculate, sounded like a 1J, really, really rad. And so many cool experiences
with those guys and many more. Matt gave me a gift. He gave me like a 24 carat
gold Nissan badge. That's crazy. That's in the front of the actual gold. Yeah. It's crazy. So
super, super awesome. The vibes are beautiful. Like you guys need inspiration. You want to see
Martini works his build threads IRL go to Riverside. It was so cool to see. It was like, oh my God,
I recognize this car from the build thread. There was that purple Honda Civic that we shared on
our socials a while back and it went absolutely crazy. Please put up some images of this because
this car looks insane and somehow it was better in person. Yeah, it never happens. No, it's usually
the opposite of that because the photos themselves were they're nice photos. Yeah, it wasn't like
bad photos. Yeah, then the car in person is just such an immaculate car. Yeah, so that was there.
Dakota came around with the purple Civics here. I was like, what? Holy shit. It was his first car,
too. And he just every nut and bolt that made that car has been completely changed. He showed me
a photo of when he got it and it was the most riced out Civic you've ever seen. And it was like
candy teal. It had this hood with these two giant inductions in the front like nostrils.
He said he wishes he would have kept that. He said the first thing he did he got a home. He
sold the hood. He's like, I wish I would have kept it and just hung it up because it was so goofy.
As a reminder. But yeah, now it's just an absolute beast. It's like 400, 500 horsepower. He drives
the piss out of it, but it's immaculately clean. It's just so cool connecting with those people.
Dude, I think my favorite part, though, is we didn't get the chance to do this in Gatlinburg
because the car wouldn't start, but we did get Lars to be able to drive the PFM
into the show. And this shit was this shit was so funny because we had we had the PFM on the
trailer yet and it was like kind of like down the street across like a four lane road. Essentially
like there was two two lanes on each side and then in this like parking lot and they had like a
officer down there and there was just like kind of controlling traffic if people needed to go
because it's like where all the vendors were parking and stuff. So it's like there's a decent
distance away from where we needed to get it in. And I'm like, Lars, you're driving this fucking
car. And he's like, well, I don't know if it's because I'm like, it's gonna start. All right,
just just read the fuck out of it. Just like it's gonna be fine. It's gonna start. And so we get
it fired or before we're heading down there. I can't remember if it was Dustin grabs like the
officer that was kind of standing there like, Hey, because PFM is like legit race car. Like it's
not doesn't have like a plate. Registrate like it's nothing like it's not street legal. It's
an actual race car. And he pulls the officers. Listen, he's like, we got this car over here.
He's like, if I drive it across the road, are you gonna like grab it and crush it? And they're
like, well, why are you like what? Like it's a race car in the kind of like a seat of the
he's like, is it cool? Or she was like, is it cool? She's like, yeah, he's like, I don't care.
She's like, yeah, I'm just here to make sure no one gets hit by a car. And we're like, all right,
man, she's like, I don't care about any of that. And so we got it thing fired up and dude, it is
just rowdy. It's obnoxious. And we're we got to the cross traffic up the hill and dude, as soon
as we pulled it into the venue itself, everyone just stopped was like, what the fuck is coming
down that place paused for a second. Yeah, all that thing came through the venue. It was really
cool. It was so sick. It was probably the loudest, loudest thing to enter the venue that weekend.
The cool part is is we have a really, we have a really close relationship with BBS.
And we've been good friends with with Jesse from BBS for a long, long time. And he comes over,
you know, he's shaking hands, just checking in on things, checking in on Martini works. And,
you know, BBS is like on this pedestal, rightfully so. It's an incredible brand. But we sometimes
forget that like, we have just like a friendly relationship with them. And so we're kind of
just talking shit and just having some fun and catching up. And he's like, you know,
and just a big guy, he's pretty rough. He's like, you know, there's just sometimes
as I get older, there are just some some loud cars. And I can tell when people
are just having fun pulling cars in. And there was a car that was doing that just a minute ago.
It was it was this small race car, I think it was. And Lars goes, Oh yeah, that was me.
Of course, it was you making all of that noise. Thank you for doing that.
Jesse, it's on BBS wheels. It is. It is on BBS. But well, the reason there was a reason for Lars
is obnoxiousness, though, right? Yeah, they constantly feed it gas. So when the kill, the clutch
on it is absolutely like insanely aggressive. It's an on off switch. And then the pedals are like
tiny, tiny, tiny right next to each other. And he was doing it without shoes on his shoes,
like normal shoes are too wide. You hit both the brake and the clutch at the same time.
So he's like trying to do this like barefoot, essentially, but the clutch is like so heavy.
So he's like, dude, I'm fucking dying, man. I'm like, we're like making people get out of the way
because like as soon as he would actually like get the clutch out of the way first gear, that
thing is hauling ass. Right. It's a fucking race car. So it's like constantly going in and out,
in and out of the clutch. And then like it's a rotary to so it's like it's loading up on fuel.
If it's just idling, so I'm like, Lars, you got to keep you got to like fucking just give her
gas sometime. Otherwise, it's literally going to like choke itself out. Yeah. And so yeah,
it's the most obnoxious, sounding vehicle to pull into a car show. And to be fair, it's like,
it's, you know, Lars has wanted to do that. That was kind of his dream since we bought it,
was to pull it into a show. And we didn't get to do it at Gatlinburg and he was he was pretty
disappointed, rightfully so. It was like a big dream for him. So to get him to get in that car
and drive in is super cool. But when you are in it, and it's 80 degrees and you see the temperatures
rising, it's fast because the car isn't moving. And then you're also trying to feed it throttle,
but it's bogging down. And then you've got, it's a sequential gearbox, but the first gear has to
be manually engaged. And then you're pulling in the clutch at the same time, which feels like
you're lifting up 40 pounds. It's just like a lot of inputs all at the same time. A lot going on.
And then the car can't turn with a shit. Nope. It was just it was it was unnecessary pressure
because we did it to ourselves. But man, it was cool. It was so sick. And how I felt, how that
whole situation felt is what I think a 16 year old feels like when they put the first mod on their
car, when they show up to the car meet, that feeling never fades. Like it just changes. Yeah,
it just evolves. As you as you get older. So formula Mazda race car. That's right. So if you guys
ever want to take a trip out to Tennessee, do it. You want to go to Riverside. It's definitely a great
event. And I will I will reinforce the fact that you do not need to bring a car. You do not need
it's not it's not necessarily like a car show. It is a it is a is an event where car enthusiasts
come together and experience the best of what everyone has built. And you don't need to bring
your own car to do that. You can come with your friends, you can hang out. The show is absolutely
incredible. Chattanooga is a great city to hang out in. And it's definitely worth it. But we're
going to take a small break and up for talking about our next partner of the martini works podcast
Dakota, please. Fortunato Fortunato Coilovers baby available at martiniworks.com head on over to
martini works filter by Fortunato. See what they got for your vehicle. If you need help picking
out a set, we'd be happy to help you. You can customize them get different spring rates. They're
hand built in the United States. If you want to add swift springs, do it up because guess what?
You can do that with those and they're also completely rebuildable. So if you buy a set,
you have them for a few years and they're ready for rebuild, send them out, get them rebuilt,
get them sent back, you have brand new coilovers, bada bing, bada boom. The 500 series is probably
going to cover 90% of people. You'll be extremely happy with that. If you just daily drive your car
and you want to make it lower, get some Fortunato 500s. If you start really liking your car and
you want to bring it to the track on the weekends, you're still good. Take the Fortunato 500s out
there. You'll absolutely love them. Random for years and years and years, I will continue to run
them for years and years and years too. Any car I get, I'm going to slap Fortunato's on it. So if
you're interested, head on over to Martini Works, check out our Fortunato and thank you to Fortunato
for sponsoring the podcast. We'll be right back. Well, on the complete opposite side of the spectrum
of what we did last week, and there was also another event going on last weekend, a little
thing called Texas 2K might have heard of it, kind of a crazy old thing down south going on.
Where do they hold that? Texas. Okay. Yeah. Crazy stuff. So obviously, Texas 2K known for some
just insane power builds, drag races, just some of them. Alex has been. You ever seen? I have.
You did. Long time ago. I've never been. Back when the Nissan R35 was top dog. Right. That was that
those errors have passed. R35 is not top dog no more? Not as much now. Still super good. Still
really, really strong. Just not like over by like STOs and everything else with some weird
stuff to Jay Z, which is what exactly I want to want to talk about because there are some crazy
stuff that went down. So white rice, which is a interesting name for this Nissan, I guess what's
left of a 240 to Jay Z powered car just managed to break into the five second quarter mile. This
is like still like a like chassis car. Like it's not like a funny car. It's not like a top fuel car.
This is a two Jay Z powered Nissan 240SX or like what is left of one essentially on 275 radials,
by the way, hitting a 5.9 second quarter mile at 242 miles an hour. Nothing makes sense with that.
It makes that place most of erupted dude. It was crazy. I was I saw like 500 angles of this run
and I watched every one of them and do it. So it was like the world record for imports on the
275 radial and it was actually the first import to break into the five seconds, especially at Texas
2K, which was all really awesome. Super cool. Can you is that a quarter mile time then quarter
mile time? Insane. And then immediately shattered by snot rocket, which is the green
Mustang running a coyote engine with an insane amount of horsepower, breaking that by just
a few milliseconds, 5.87 at the same speed, 242 miles an hour again, shattering the 275 radial
that would I would cry as a fully grown man with all the testosterone possible.
Like I would cry like good for good for snot rocket, but come on. You couldn't give me a year.
You can give me one year. Yeah, it's like a day. All in all, just insane stuff though. Dude,
that shit is so rowdy. Both of those cars are freaking insane. Also really cool to see the
you know, red demons out there kicking it. The DSM going 240 miles an hour and five seconds is
insane. I love how you snuck that in by the way. Nice job. The five people that are supporting
DSMs are like gels. It's still out there kicking it. I love to see it. The Texas 2K event is such
an interesting thing because it's like when I was talking to somebody, the owner, a leak with
the Cressida 800 some bajillion horsepower, he's talking about how you like he loves rolling up
and drag racing people, you know, and I'm like, does it, does it, does it get boring like chasing
a horsepower number? Like there's a lot of people that would say you don't need that much horsepower.
And he's like, yeah, he goes, but it's fun. And then the Texas 2K event is like all about that.
Literally just I'm going to make the fastest possible vehicle I can to go on a straight line.
And then I think I saw that the reaction times of both the snot rocket and that the white rice car,
they were like nothing, like .004 seconds of reaction. Not much for improvement.
And you saw the tree, if you watch the video, like you see the tree light up and it's like,
and it just gone. And it's like, how do you even, how? And then, oh my God, I can't.
Yeah, it's insane. It's a crazy event. Crazy, crazy event.
Yeah, it's freaking nuts. I was trying to figure out how much horsepower here. The last updated
numbers that I have for the 240 and this was back in 2020. It was pushing, it was pushing 2,600
horsepower out of a 2JZ with 95 pounds of boost. So maybe 2JZ do live up to that.
2,600 horsepower out of a fucking straight six is crazy. That is.
I learned from this past weekend, an engine called the Berra, the Berra engine. So I don't
know if you guys know a lot about this. I don't know anything. I know a little bit,
like I'm familiar with them. Yeah. Yeah. So I was talking to of course Australians,
which is a great way to start the conversation just in case you're wondering. They love Berra.
They, that's gospel. That is the Australian RB, essentially, is what they're saying.
And so they're kind of showing me around the car, this F6, I think is what it's called.
And they're kind of explaining it, like I'm looking at it. It just kind of looks like a
bloated Pontiac. It's not even a Chevy. It's not a great looking engine.
No, no, no. It's not even a Pontiac. It's not even a Chevy. It's a Ford, but it was an FPV,
Ford Performance Vehicle. And he starts talking about the car and I'm like trying to find this
like angle with it because I don't, again, don't know anything about this car. He's like,
I'm not going to do the accent. He goes, you know, he goes. Yeah. And then, you know, a full
litre, full litre inline six supercharged and 10,000, $10,000. You can sell for about a thousand
horsepower. That was the best accent you've ever done. That was, I'm going away honestly. I don't
even know what you said. I just couldn't believe you didn't accent that. I'm going to be really
honest. I don't think I could do that again. And I'm like, what? And he goes, yeah, you know,
people, people will take this as a four litre, four litre inline six. It's a big four, not three,
not 2.8, not 3.2, not 3.6, four litre factory. And he goes, yeah, with a turbocharger, you know,
top end, you can do intake tune. This is a $10,000, thousand horsepower. He goes,
the thing that will break will always be the drivetrain components. Sure. He goes,
but for $10,000, you can have a thousand horsepower. And then I looked up how much these cost and you
can get them imported from this guy called like, BarraTheWorld.com, whatever it is, for like 60
Gs. For 70 Gs, you can have a thousand horsepower. It was a four door sedan. When we were down at
Bruce City Banger this year, there's a new edge with the Barra, and it had like a Cummins diesel
turbo on it or something crazy shit. That thing ripped. Apparently they loved it.
They said that they can handle like anything. And he kind of explained how it's not a very
flattering engine in its stock form. But he showed me a picture of it, like when you change,
like not the intake manifold, but kind of like that top, you know, plenum design,
and then the intake and stuff like that. He's like, yeah, it just starts to look
quite literally like an RB. And he showed me a picture. I'm like, I thought that was an RB.
Like they look so similar in nature, the Barra engine and that that.
Yeah. Brett knows a lot about the Barra. Because he kind of pointed it out to us.
Yeah. Yeah. Because I thought it was weird if I didn't know about him. I was like,
he swapped a six cylinder and there's Mustang. Why would you do that? And then he's like, yeah,
it's a four liter six. Yeah. That's insane. What the hell? The amount of, yeah. So I want one.
Because that seems like it'd be really, really how it goes on. S2K put it in.
No, I'm going to put the tiniest two liter inline four. S2K has got room for any engine you want
to put in there. S2K has got a lot of room for a lot of things right now. Teaser trailer for the
Drifter movie dropped. Oh, I have it yesterday. I saw it. It's like 30 seconds long. It looks pretty
good. I mean, it's a teaser trailer. So it's like, it's not a whole lot, but like the shots and stuff
look. When we were at Tokyo Auto Salon, Sun King was there and they like behind him, they had like
TVs and it was like playing clips. I watched that a lot. That was cool. I think it's just so dope.
Like it's like, you can tell that it was like practical, but like I love that it was. I love
that you can tell that it's practical. It's a car enthusiast movie. It should make car enthusiasts
happy. Yes. Which I'm really excited to watch it. I really want it because I really want to see Sun
King again so we can talk about the movie. I think it'd be really cool to have him on the podcast,
but like that'd be incredible. I think the thing that will make or break this movie
is going to be the soundtrack. There's got to be. I think they're, dude, hear me out.
First Fast and Furious. Bang and soundtrack. Too fast, too furious. Luda, right? Fast and
Furious Tokyo Drift. Movie's been out for like decades. It feels like you're still playing my
life. Be like, ooh, ah, ooh, ah, right? Fourth Fast. Fast five. We got into some of that, that
Central American, Brazilian music. Let's go. And then six. Don't remember. Seven. We only liked
because of the closed the book. Long day. Charlie Poof. Thank you. And then they decided to make
like three more and I just kind of washed that out of my mind. But soundtracks make those movies.
It makes everything. Video games, movies, all that stuff. I would love. I would love.
What song are you hoping to hear? I don't know. Drifter movie. I don't know.
What's going to make it harsh?
If Ramstein do hot started playing when Adam L Z's four rotor Supra takes the
field at English town, I would lose my mind. If that happens, I will die.
I don't know. I don't know why that song came out.
So I saw a couple of shots. There's a shot. This is a good question for you guys. There's a shot
where like Adam like pans left and he's got the mustache and the the aviators onto the hat
because he plays the reigning four time champion. Oh, does he? A formula drift in the movie. He is.
He's the guy that song has to beat. Okay. What song do you think they would play
to introduce Adam L Z's character and Drifter? What song would come up? It's like WWE,
like walk out song. Yeah. What would it be? Who let the dogs out by the Bahamun?
It's a great guess, actually. That would be iconic.
Gels, give me a better answer. I don't know if there is a better answer.
Honestly, that's it. What do you, what do you think?
No, I don't know. I mean, I think because there's got to be a bad guy in the story, right?
And a part of me would feel like Adam is going to be, I don't know anything about the movie,
but I feel like if you're going to take down the top dog, the top dog, you don't want to like them,
right? Yeah. You don't want to like the top dog. You kind of want the top dog to not be
good. So I feel like, I don't know. I feel like honestly, it'd be like a rock song. It'd be like
some sort of rock song. That's what I'm thinking. Like we will rock you? 99 Luftballon?
That's two on the nose. That's a little more niche, but still everyone knows it. I know that
makes sense. But yeah, maybe like a, I don't know if they would get the rights to it, but like more
of like a deep track, like Metallica song or something. Yeah. Now we're getting somewhere.
Like Enter Sandman or whatever that song is. But yeah. What's this? It's got a long rift.
All the Metallica songs. They're all like seven. They're literally all like seven minute long
songs. Yeah. All right. Fine. What do you think Sung Kang's song of choice would be in the movie
Drifter? Teriyaki Boys. It has to be. You can't. You can't. No, you can't cross. You can't do anything
with no money. It's his movie. You can do whatever you want. I don't know because I haven't seen a
trailer. I don't know how this all plays out. I didn't even know the premise of the movie.
Oh my goodness. Yeah. I'm sorry. I mean, I kind of understood. Yeah. The teaser trailer, like I
said, it was like 30 seconds long and it's kind of dramatic. I mean, they kept playing James
Pumphrey at Tokyo Odyssey and just like clip with James Pumphrey over and over. I sent it to him.
Cause I was like, this is kind of cool actually. There was a, there was an Instagram story Jeremiah
Burton put up and it was him in Japan and it's like, uh, he like pans up and it's like a grocery
store or something. And it's like, come, come house. And then he like turns to the right and
there's another building called come, come. And I sent him a message back and I said, don't mind
if I do. And then I replayed it and I was like, shit, I didn't listen to it with the sound on.
Played with the sound on it. All he said in the same video was don't mind if I do it.
Oh man, he got him before you.
There's a, there's not a lot of breaking news out there right now. I think in the,
in the industry, I think there's a lot of things that are, are going to be coming out soon. We've
obviously new Mercedes AMG GT3, um, that's, that's, that's coming out the RS five that weighs a
billion pounds. Um, and it seems like everybody's kind of rolling back some of the EV stuff. So
I'm interested to see what news comes out, um, especially with some of the F one stuff that's
happening because we've got some change of locations. We've got some delays in the racing,
some stuff happening in the Middle East that's causing a small to moderately sized issue.
Um, but for right now, things are staying pretty cool, calm and collected in the automotive world.
Are you going to race soon? Yes. Are you going to start racing? I know you got stuff in the works.
Yeah. So the next, uh, the next big thing is to, to get the PFM out to the Autobahn,
uh, Autobahn Country Club. Oh, you're taking it to Germany. Um,
Autobahn Country Club is next. And then we take delivery of a Shell podcast. Here's the first,
uh, MX five, putting that together. And then, and then in May, uh, we're heading off to the
24 hours of Nurburgring with Likwemali. So that'll be really fun. 24 hours of Nurburgring. That
sounds like a nightmare. How the hell do you even prep for something like that?
So I have enough mental stand for something. I have enough mental fortitude to know that
the, the Nurburgring is a 24 hour party pretty much. Cause every, every endurance race is different.
The Le Mans is very like, it's still a party going wrong, but it's like, it's put together.
Yeah. Um, spa has a 24 hour. It's a little bit different. It's kind of a mix, but the ring is
it's like a lone wolf lobby. I mean, the idea of a 24 hour race on the Nurburgring is already
insanity enough. I can imagine. And then all the classes and then all the crashes and then all the
places you can go. There's, you can go so many places at the ring, uh, because it's a billion
miles long. Is it the full thing? Yeah. Yeah. The Nordschleif. So hopefully I can kiss Max
for stepping on the forehead and wish him good luck. If I can't, I'll simply drive in that. Yeah.
That's crazy. Yeah. He won and then got disqualified at a different Nurburgring race. They used too
many tires. You got disqualified for using too many tires. Yeah. I didn't know that. That's a,
that's a whole thing. Like you have certain amount of tires you can use. Used too many get disqualified.
Why? Because they use too many. But why would you have to go to a pit and pull over to get new
tires? Yeah. So what's the issue? I feel like if you're a pit and all the time changed tires,
that you're, he's too good. They had to find a loophole to kick him out. Yeah. Too many tires.
Too many tires. Run them bald. Yep. With that being said, we want to say and give a huge shout out
to Motegi Racing Meals for being a partner of the Martini Works Podcast. Yeah. Out of all the wheels
that we had at the Riverside booth this weekend, we had everything. We brought Watanabe's, we brought
Works, we brought AdVans, we brought Gramlites, we brought Koenigs, we brought Enkis. I got more
questions about our Motegi Kozians than any other wheel that we had on display. Everybody tried
to keep buying my drift set of wheels. You can't have them. We brought like the actual like setup
for the S15. Yep. And like they had tires on them. It was the only time in the history of the world
I've seen Alex say, no, you can't buy those. He likes them too much. Yeah. The funny part was
like handing them a car like, just check out our website. Absolutely fantastic, cool wheels.
Pictures don't do it justice on the internet. Seeing them in person is super sick. I don't know.
If you're following the S15 build, you'll actually be able to see what they look like on the car
because we actually mocked it up. I got some pictures coming for that, which we're really excited for.
Fantastic fitment, great price, quality, quality wheel, especially if you're getting into the
drift season. It's a fantastic wheel option. So we do want to say thank you to Motegi Racing
Wheels for being a partner of the Martini Works podcast. And if you guys didn't know, we actually
just had a bulk order. Somebody picked up 20 kendas and then a couple sets of wheels and some
coilovers because you can go on Martini Works right now and you can actually bulk order tires.
It gives you an added discount that's available in the cart for buying larger sets. And if you want
to save even more money and you want to pick them up here at our shop here in Appleton or
our warehouse in Illinois, you can do that. It's a really cool way to save some money,
especially as you get ready for the drift season. So if you're one of those folks,
you need to stock up on tires, we'd be happy to help you out. You can treat us a message
at martiniworks.com or you can go to the bulk tire program that's right on the website.
Or get your buddies to pitch in too. Yeah, absolutely.
The buddies that you need to, you want to split an order with or something like that,
that's what we made it for because we had people coming out and they're like,
hey dude, I need like 20 tires. Like what can you do? Like no other, like that's too many tires,
your band. Yep, your band. They kicked me out of the Nurburgring.
So Max Verstappen, if you need to order bulk tires for your Mercedes,
we'd be happy to save you some money because we know that you're on a budget.
That do me my own tires. We can do it.
I've asked, we accidentally asked a race car driver about budget.
Yeah, should you buy cheap tires? Why would I buy tires?
Yeah, so we're just, for normal human beings in the world that are just trying to save some
money, martiniworks is all about trying to make this easier and you guys, that's why we have
the catapult where you can save 2% up to $70. That's why we have the discounting when you
package wheels and tires together. And it's why we launched the bulk tire program so that you
can save some money ordering multiple wheels or tires at the same time. So we really appreciate
all of the support we're really trying to give back to the community.
Thank you, Mason and the team for hosting Riverside 11. Dakota, anything that you'd like to add?
Yeah, just talking about Motegi. Well, we were at the show, I seen a GR Corolla that was bagged
on the same Motegi's that we have the battles in that dark blue and it looked really sick.
No joke, it was dope. Gels? The sun is out and I'm happy. I can see it. Sun's out, bun's out.
Sun's out, my buns are about to be out. Thank you guys and gals so much for listening and we
will see you next week. Too many buns you can't. Alex, put your pants back on.
About this episode
Riverside Chattanooga 11 is the centerpiece: the crew breaks down the weekend’s smooth vibes, why the meet feels more mature than typical shows, and how the people make it as special as the cars. Behind the scenes, they recount last-minute chaos getting the S15’s bumper and headlights back together after paint delays, plus a frantic multi-truck haul in winter weather. They also highlight standout builds, including a loud Formula Mazda-style PFM entrance, and then pivot to Texas 2K drag-racing madness and the teaser for the Drifter movie.
