Garage Heroes In Training
Garage Heroes In Training
Updated 12 days agoAn amateur endurance auto racing team hoping to show everyone that they too can participate in performance driving or racing. We are a relatively new team and learning right along with you. Our assumption is that you know very little to nothing about the sport but are interested in learning to drive better and eventually maybe even race in a local event of interest. We will cover all forms of racing and hope to be entertaining as well as educational.

EP 0019: Annika Carter is Our Special Guest Race Driver
We first noticed Annika Carter on Instagram where her moniker is Not.My.Boyfriends.Car and that is the best Instagram name that we know of ever. We then noticed she was going to be racing with us at Road Atlanta for our last Lemons race of our 2018 calendar season. She has quickly worked her way up and races as much as she possibly can. She has already earned her racing license through NASA and we know she can drive as she passed us many, many times during our weekend together. Alan, Vicki, and Bill discuss how things have been going as well as her upcoming plans and goals. Please welcome Annika to our podcast as this week's special guest. We also added in a brief discussion on the upgrades to our Capri/Camaro transplant oil system, going over oil cooling and the differences between a wet and dry sump system. Finally, we also discussed whether or not to start a third project race car where we get a low dollar daily driver and convert it into a race car for use on multiple racing series that we are interested in. We'd like to hear from you if you would be interested in us starting this project and giving updates and progress summaries along the way on our website and of course the podcast. Thanks again for listening and please leave a rating and review on whatever your podcast application of choice is along with any questions or requests for guests, questions, or topics you may have.
EP 0018: The Garden State Goons - Mom Rocket Team
We met this team at the 24 Hours of Lemons race in Thompson Connecticut last August. It was their first race, but we could tell just by talking to them there that they were hooked. Did they do well at the race. No. But they had a blast and we know we will be seeing them again at several races this season. They are young and learning quickly. We hope you get to know them a bit better after this episode.
EP 0017: Our Driver Jennifer with a Mini Surprise
We continue our team drivers interview series with Jennifer. She is new to racing and new to driving a manual transmission. We also added a short section with Mia and Jacob, our youngest team members at this point. Probably not the best plan with post Christmas and elevated sugar levels, but why not. At least we saved interrupting Alan and his family over the holiday break.
EP 0016: WOOT Aquaman and All Time DC Movies
Benny and Bill try to get in an episode on the road during the holidays to review the latest DC movie release "Aquaman". We also decided to rank our top 5 DC movies of all time and then also rated our bottom 5. We did have some sound level issues and more background noise than usual, but recording on the road and during the holidays is not our norm.
EP 0015: Chris LoCurto - Special Guest
Chris LoCurto has been a mentor to most of our team for many years. It started when he hosted the Dave Ramsey podcast "EntreLeadership" and then when he started his own business and podcast "The Chris LoCurto Show". We never miss an episode. Vicki and Bill have also had personal coaching from Chris for several years and gained a tremendous amount of insight into ourselves and each other. We highly recommend both his podcast and his coaching. What many may not know about Chris is that he is a true car guy and races several times a year and has won many races and championships. I'm sure he'd race more if his schedule would allow, but his is too generous with his time for giving to others.
EP 0014: Into the Spiderverse and 2018 Super Hero Movies (Fixed)
Benny and Bill discuss their impressions of the Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse movie and also cover the super hero movies of 2018. Our audio went out on one channel. It is now fixed.
EP 0013: Goals and Our Goals for 2019
Alan and Bill cover what their goals are for the 2019 racing season to improve on 2018.
EP 0012: Road Atlanta Finale
For this podcast, we complete our third day at Road Atlanta with our second day of racing. Practice and Day one went pretty well. Recording this episode did not. We had some serious recording issues and apologize for the delay. In addition to Sundays race, we also review some paddock and trailer improvement ideas we saw and Alan summarizes what to look for in an engine lift/hoist.
EP 0011: Road Atlanta part deux
Our team competed at Road Atlanta today. It was cold and rainy all of today and likely will be again tomorrow. What happened, how did we do, what went right and wrong, we may have answered some of those questions, I'm so tired, I'm not sure anymore. It seemed like one of our better episodes, but you will need to be the judge of that.
Ep 0010 Road Atlanta - Friday
For today's episode, we summarize how things are going so far at our first visit to Road Atlanta. Its a bit wet and cold, but so far, it has been a blast. More updates should follow along as the weekend progresses.
EP 0009 - Everyone Racers (Fancast)
Sadly Late We have been asked more than once why did we start a podcast. Well, we were listening to our favorite racing related podcast and good friends at Everyone Racers a few weeks back and they needed to skip a week. We tried to get them an episode in time to help fill the gap. It took us a bit over 24 times to finally get something presentable. Largely due to operator error. No one has ever asked to hear it, so we thought we'd post it here. At no one's request, here it is. PS Our latest episode is 9+ hours deep into editing and still going. Recording issues abound. It may show up soon or we will record it again. The trials and tribulations of a podcaster.
Ep 0008 What To Expect At Your First Race
In this week's episode, we try to walk you through the process and procedures that are typical at a race day or race weekend, using a 24 Hours of Lemon's race weekend as an example. We also try to review key areas to help ease any anxiety that may be present at your first (or fiftieth) race. We hope this helps. Please let us know if we missed anything or if you have any additional tips or tricks that we could share with everyone.
Ep 0007 GHiT Team - Part 2
In this episode of our podcast, Alan, Vicki, and Bill finish going over some of the details and history of the GHiT racing team and several of the things we have learned along the way. The episode ran a bit long, so we split up our discussion into two parts. come up. You can find the first part below or earlier in your podcast feed. If there is anything that you would like to know that we may have left out, please send us an email using he link below or even better would be to leave a review on iTunes for our podcast and in the comments section enter any questions or topics you may be interested in us finding an answer for you. Thanks again for coming.
EP 0006 - WoOT 1 Stan Lee Tribute - Emergency Episode
We had to have a special Way of Our Topic episode to celebrate the life of Stan Lee with his passing today. The world lost its modern-day Shakespeare and we tried to honor his work and memory. This episode is pretty light on car related content but hopefully we showed a bit of how important Stan was to a large portion of our world. Thank you, Stan The Man., Excelsior!
Ep 0005 GHiT Team - Part 1
In part 4 of this 4+ part series, we review some of the beginning process of our team, how we got together, and what we have learned so far. The episode ran a bit long, so this is part 1 of two for this subject.
Ep 0004 - Bill on the Hot Seat
In part 3 of our team introduction series, Vicki interviewed Bill and we learn about his driving history and some details of what he brings to our cars and paddock. This episode is a bit shorter than a normal episode, but we hope you enjoyed it. Apparently, the hosts did.
EP 0003: Vicki on the Hot Seat
In part 2 of our team introduction series, Vicki is interviewed and we learn about her driving history and some of her artistic talent as applied to our cars and paddock. We may even have gotten permission from the GHiT CFO on a new car. Just maybe.
Ep 0002 - Alan on the Hot Seat
We all learn a bit more about our teammate Alan. This is part 1 of the 4 part series where we cover a bit more about our three primary hosts and our team.
EP 0001 New Hampshire Race Review October 2018
Welcome to our first official episode. Today we review our exploits at the 24 Hours of Lemons race at New Hampshire Motor Sports in Loudon, NH. We also cover what we have been working on, suggested options for starting a new team, and our preparation for our upcoming race in Atlanta.
