Drag racing and selling cars - must be the Emmons Brothers!
Yep, there are still plenty of family owned businesses, and the Emmons Autoplex is a great example of what a family can do. First getting started in 1975, the business is now ran by the four Emmons brothers - three of which are triplets. In addition to that, all four are NHRA Sportsman drag racers. The big car shows, whether new or custom, seem to be a lot of fun ... to me. In fact, one of the best type of car shows is the auto auction. Why? With Autorama or Championship Auto Shows or any of the like, the vehicles are on display, some of which are very elaborate.. A lot of fun to go and see but what if they weren't on display? What if you could get up and close with out ropes or something to block access? That is where an auto auction comes in. There will be hundreds of cars lined up to look at as they have to cross the block so they have to be able to move. Of course when they do cross the block, you get to listen real fast in a hurry to some of the details and then go look again up close and personal! But what do the younger auto enthusiast think of car auctions? We are talking the 18-24 yr olds. Klein HS Band Car Show with the Houston Area Corvettes are putt'n on a show and we have the Car Clinic in the Feature segment.
Car Clubs are great! For a lot of reasons, such as getting new ideas, meeting new people, and even doing something to make the community a little better along the way. Tim Oawster is a member of the Houston Area Corvettes club who are working with the Klein High School Band supporters to put on a car show as part of the annual fund raisers. We are all for helping keep kids involved in school particularly if it includes a little automotive education along the way.
