Best Episode That Didn’t Happen
Our podcast failed 😩😔 not sure why the Anchor App didn’t fully record and then delete the recording. Maybe bec it would have broke the charts!! Likely thinking 🤔 But we will try again
Austin JOTS & Coop’s BlondeAle
Hornet Toad is a stupid smooth Blonde Ale from COOP Ale Works in OKC. It was a perfect beer for a jammed packed episode on Mobile Detailing. We had Austin Jones with Johny On The Spot Mobile Detailing and Co-Host DJ Patterson from Eco Green Mobile Detailing. We talked extensively about how to do the “business side” of detailing...ie how to turn ur passion to profits. This one went a bit long but it had so much practical advice from two mobile Detailers who each have three trucks on the road at all times. So grab u a Blonde and a note pads cause ur going to need it!!!
How to grow a local following
Before u can sell someone a detail u need to first have their attention. I was speaking about this with a local Detailer over lunch. Here’s my 2 cents on how u can get people’s attention in ur local market so u can sell them a detail.
As The Tide Rises
Sometimes I have thoughts...
Joe DRC1000 w/ Franziskaner
Wow this one is full of content for Detailers on Biz Dev, struggles on starting a business, why Joe patented foam pads & why Detailers should choose certain pads. Ian and DJ are announced as Co-Host 👏🏻👏🏻 and we pour a pint of Franziskaner Hefeweizen
Darin-Route 66 Detail-SamAdams
Darin has a Detail Shop in a town of 2,500 people in Chandler, Ok and he does over $30k in extra revenue from Ceramic Coatings. Here his story while we sip on Sam Adams Cold Snap.
Why IDA & MTE w/ Justin Lab
Why would a detailer want to ever talk with other Detailers and have a community together?!? Sounds pretty stupid to some of us but it might actually be a great thing for your business. So tonight we grab a cold local beer from Dead Armadillo and discuss with Justin, DJ, Ian & Dave why someone should go to Mobile Tech Expo this weekend and why someone would want to get their detailing skills validated through the IDA. Grab a beer and enjoy this podcast with tons of content for you!!
Ronnie-Car Brite & Fade2Black
Why do dealerships have a stigma of being bad at detailing?!? Ronnie Laporte with Car Brite comes into the podcast to talk about dealership detailing with Ian Porter and DJ Patterson. We examine ways that dealerships can do better and why they traditionally suck at detailing. Not to mention have a killer beer from Left Hand Brewery up in Longmont, CO. If you like coffee & chocolate then u will love Fade To Black. This stout has tons of coffee flavor with rich notes of dark chocolate. Grab one and enjoy!!
Taking Passion To Profit
A lot of times we as Detailer’s are in love with cleaning cars and it is our passion in life... However many times our passion doesn’t lead to being a profitable business. Here’s a sneak peek at what we will be discussing with Austin from Johnny on the spot mobile detailing
Jason w/ Sonax - Nut Brown Ale
This is a guy that everyone should meet....Jason with Sonax USA. Had a great conversation on the different products that Sonax has. We discuss cleaning Alcantara to how to save time while compounding and polishing. Very informative on the Sonax brand and what they do for our industry. Not to mention sipping on a super great Samuel Smiths Nut Brown Ale.
Do u up sell clients
Up selling and upgrading customers is how a lot of easy sells are made. However a lot of Detailers are missing out. Do u have upgrades for ur customers? How do U pitch it
Humbled to be a Detailer
As I move closer and closer to 40 I sometimes have moments of reflection. I was a horrible student, barely made it out of high school and shouldn’t have gone to college on my grades. But I somehow passed and got a degree and then really disliked my jobs out of college. By coincidence I happen to start cleaning cars based on a friend’s recommendation and fell in love with it. To this day I’m amazed I’ve been able to have a life and make a living in this industry. It’s been a fun roller coaster that I hope to keep riding for another 40 years.
Justin Labato- Yuengling Beer
Should detailers be doing Paint Correction? This was a killer Pints and Polishing Podcast with Justin Labato from JL’s Showroom Detailing and DJ Patterson from Eco Green Mobile Detailing. We dive into an extremely hot topic right now....What is Paint Correction and why is everyone all of a sudden doing Paint Correction. Why do coating companies say “detailers have to be doing Paint Correction? Not to mention he’s swigging back some cold Yuengling a super great beer. So pop the top and take a listen...
AndrewVanKirk & FoundersPorter
How can a Mobile Detailer & Detail Shop stay busy during these cold winter months?!? We dive into this discussion while we sip on Founders Porter. Super delicious beer and great time with Andrew Van Kirk from Precision Detail, DJ Patterson from Eco Green and Ian Porter from Red Beards Detail Shop. You can connect with Andrew on FB or IG @precisiondetailco and definitely go grab some Founders Porter
Red Beard’s Detail w/ Guin
Sorry for the background noise...we are still rookies at this. However we had a great discussion on branding and why it’s important for detailers to have strong brand recognition.
Justin Labato & Yuengling Ale
This was a great one and that doesn’t just mean the beer!! Justin was a great guest to have on for discussing paint correction and paint enhancement!! He enjoyed a pint of Yuengling while DJ from Eco Green and I tossed back a couple cold ones ourselves. Drinking beer and chatting about detailing...what could get better?!?
#1 question u should ask
Most daily drivers will not pay for a “full correction” and so detailers are loosing out on a large amount of biz!! So what’s the number one question u should ask ur coating customers? It’s what do they see? Funny I know but that question has dramatically helped detailers grow their coating business. It helps bec it lets u know what that customer sees in their paint. Bec most daily drivers don’t see the imperfections in their paint then it’s not a valuable service to offer them a paint correction sticker price on top of a the price of a coating. This will scare many prospective customers away Bec they don’t want to pay $1,500 for a correction and coating. So ask them what they see in their paint and when they don’t see all the marring then offer them two packages....one package with a correction and one without the correction. When they choose the lesser priced package then u still do a good polish and prep the paint but u won’t be spending
#1 way making money detailing
So many of us detailers are passionate about what we are doing but many times that passion doesn’t translate into a great business. Here is the #1 way you can make more money for your detailing business...
Turkey Day & Branding ur Biz
Hope u had a great Thanksgiving!! As I look at everything going on in the Detail world during the holidays it’s very interesting to see how certain brands stand out more then others. Doesn’t matter if it’s a Chemical Company, Detail Shop or Ceramic Coating Supplier....Branding is one of the most important aspects to growth. However many detailers don’t take it serious and their biz struggles to make it to the next level. I wanted to take a brief moment to help some detailers stop and look at their brand and see where and how they can grow it.
Alexa save me time in a detail
Time is the most valuable asset we have. We always need more and we can always save more time. The technology behind Alexa and how we can order food, products, etc. saves us a tremendous amount of time. In the same way that technology is saving us time what can save us time when we are doing a detail... especially paint correction.
Thirsty Thursday- Fat Tire
Had a great time talking with Trey Duvall & David Solomon about Ceramic Coatings, customer expectations and we give our review on Fat Tire by New Belgium Brewery.
Waterless vs Trad w/ DJ
Really enjoyed this discussion with DJ from Eco Green. So fun seeing this guy grow his detailing business and so we talk about why he chose waterless vs traditional washing, his business mistakes, what he has learned, why he is apart of the IDA and why he stopped using a big brand coating company.
Thirsty Thursday
Having a first of many beer reviews with David Solomon
