It matters not because Ron helps us understand the proper method to test ignition coils and systems using some basic, affordable test equipment. Next up is a call from NYC regarding a 2005 Honda Civic with a rattling front suspension noise. The chain store that replaced front struts in the vehicle says its not their part and the Honda dealer says it is. The vehicle owner is stuck in the middle and he turns to Ron for the answer. A tough spot for sure but The Car Doctor has the answers and ideas to help. Lansing Michigan is calling in next; Tim has a low level vibration noise in his ES300 Lexus that no one seems to be able to repair. But Ron has some answers and they are simple solutions. He opens the phones today with a call on a 2020 Ford F250 Super Duty Pickup truck where the caller changed the fuel filter and then had some problems getting the truck to start & run. Ron goes over some of the resolution options and ends up pointing out flaws by design in the priming procedure; as published by Ford Motor Company. Next, Ron travels down South and takes a call on a 2017 Chevrolet 1500 Silverado that was recently purchased from a car rental company fleet. The engine had problems with the AFM (Active Fuel Management) system and needed valvetrain repair. The caller opted for AFM elimination with a different camshaft and lifters along with a software upgrade. Since then it has other issues and he needs Ron's help to gain a diagnostic direction. Things were humming along and flowing UNTIL this 1999 Honda Accord showed up with an intermittent crank but no start problem and no service appointment. It had no spark, no injector pulse and no fuel pressure when it would not start. Once it happened to Ron it didn't take him long to diagnose it. Ron was able to get a diagnostic direction simply by looking at the dash board and reviewing which trouble lights came on when the problem happened. Listen in to hear the diagnostic flow. His first call this hour is from Terry in VT with a 2003 Chevy Pickup and a binding ignition lock cylinder. Ron dispenses some advice on how to proceed and repair.
