A wide-ranging Snail Trail 4x4 chat that starts with the chaos of a global software “crowdstrike” outage—plus a real pre-order email bug Tyler’s dealing with—then pivots to off-road logistics and upcoming events. The biggest off-road stories are a Rubicon weekend with heavy traffic, a missing Jeep Jam volunteer turned recovery, and Tyler’s ongoing 4Runner overheating hunt (airflow vs sensors, mechanical fan/shroud plans). Between it all: a family theme-park run focused on conquering roller-coaster fears, and Tyler’s new neon “Minecraft” digital-camo wrap for his 4Runner.

Jimmy went on an all out run around to 3 different amusement parks in SoCal and taught the mini assistant about rollercoasters. How many times did they go upsidedown in a day??? Meanwhile, Tyler took the family out to the Rubicon Trail on a hot day, with a hot 4runner. Overheating discussions continue!

Welcome 1. Welcome all to the snail trail
4 bath. For podcast. So if you like
going our operating Toyota wrench on Toyota's camping and Turtles and maybe even poking a little bit of fun toyota, And of course, hearing about how amazing adventure adventure sorry for it is.
Then this is the podcast. You. That's what
Lindsay James My name is Tyler. Joining me
for another episode Snow Truffle by 4 is the 1 and only Jimmy Ji.
For Hello.
That's very anticlimactic of you. That's labor. How
are you? Or
that's how you normally do it, but sorry.
Jimmy made Jet. How are you buddy? I'm
tired. You're tired. Why you so tired. Were
you pulled running around or something? I pulled
a Tyler. You pulled a Tyler. Pulled to
Tyler.
That's...
I the duck could be taken a lot of ways. It... Yeah. I'd probably try to
take the throw behind the bare box? No.
Okay.
No. And it has nothing to do with
alcohol. Oh. 0, wow. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. I've
I felt I'm gonna air quotes, Daddy Tyler life. This, last night. Is the
assistant pre? No. Oh, no. Okay. I just
went to bed at 3AM.
Oh and was up at like, 9. Yeah
something to get down here to the studio.
We could have just recorded at 2AM last night. We probably could have except I was
on the road. Oh,
Could've have done that. That would fine. Yeah.
Yeah.
My my parents got went to Wyoming and yellowstone.
Montana, Mean Yellowstone for the last few days.
And they got... There's still
issues at airports with this, put the crowds strike crowds strike issue. And they... So
they loaded it. They flew from
wherever they were in Wyoming.
To Salt Lake City. U. And they boarded
an airplane in Salt Lake City, and then they kicked everybody off the airplane because there was no pilots or anybody to fly the air airplane.
Oh, that's funny. Yep. So they were Get
Ai to fly pains nowadays I think their autopilot anyway. Right. I mean,
the pilots are only up there in case of emergency, which I'm not sure if that's even a good idea. Yeah. But
So... Yeah. So we've... Wow. Had to scramble
and we found a flight home ish to San Francisco by midnight. They're were
supposed to arrive in Sacramento of 4PM, the only other flight that we could find to get them home more or less on the same day. U. Was San Francisco at
midnight.
So I drove down to San Francisco to pick them up at midnight, and then and I had to drive the 2 hours back home. Wow. Yeah. So...
And then, make the long story long, they had my nephew with them.
Okay. And so we had to drive over
to the Nephew house to drop him off with my brother's from, you know at that family. And then drive back to my house.
So it just was a lot... It wasn't
a... I mean, you know, it's a cross
town, but it's a little bit more driving than just driving straight home. Yeah. And from
the city. So... Yeah.
Yeah. I would... I went to crawled into
bed right around 3AM, and I thought about Maybe I'll just call Tyler's see if he's awake.
Yeah. I was like, no. I wanna go
to bed. Like, I need to get as
much sleep as I can. I've got 2...
Pre teen young ladies coming over to spend the night with my daughter tonight.
And I've gotta try to be on my a game with I think 5 hours of sleep I got. Yeah. So that's not bad.
It's not bad. 5 hours is doable. Yeah.
I you wasted it after a while. So
I'm sure it that would happened. I function
fairly decently with limited sleep.
But whenever I say that I usually get a good night sleep the next night. Yeah.
They're in college, I know there was multiple times when I would function on 6 hours of sleep, and I can function very well in 6 hours of sleep. And under 6
hours. I...
I go down in the hill. Alright interesting.
Yeah. I used to I used to be
like that. Like, I would need, like, 8
to 10 hours. Mh.
And then since the kid has been born, I've just... My body's used to 5 to
6 hours right now. Yeah. It's like, cool.
Let's do it. Yep. Yep. So...
Yeah. I'm I'm kinda... I'm quite tired, but.
I mean, I got a coffee in front of me and a c host that likes to talk. So
I think we'll be okay.
Yeah.
Not in your head does not work that are of audio.
It's fine on the video. Oh, okay. That's
cool.
Yeah, Man. It's... The the crowds strike thing
was interesting. It's fascinating to me that... Yes.
1 person can mess up 1 line of code in an update and it shuts down half of the United States.
It shut down more than that. Yeah. It's...
Yeah. I, it shut down... I mean, United
States on airplane flights. Mh. And I'm sure
that had effects around the world because then people couldn't fly from outside of the United States into the United States. Mh.
I'm not sure how big that company is whether it's was in other countries, but I know it shut really closed down the banking banking into banking got hit hard.
And the baking. Yeah. Yeah. The baking industry
are. Here really aren't. Yeah. Yeah. It shut
down a point of sales services. Yep. So,
I mean, there was... We had a a
slight issue with more flight where we had to just kinda capture.
Payments, and then charge them once the system was back up. So I wasn't charging immediately
upon payment kind of thing. So a software
that you use uses them.
Security. Yep. Mh.
And then, for some reason, our... So when
we did the pre orders on Air hub.
Yeah. It captured everybody's payment info and, everything
and so when the crowds strike thing happened, it, like, reset all that. And it's now...
Our software is now sending out emails to everybody saying they need to pay for their orders, even though their orders are already paid for.
Oh, dang. And I'm... And I have it
all shut off right now. So I'm like,
I don't know what to do here.
Yeah. It should just be sending anything out,
but it's... Keep sending things out. So it's
kinda bugged right now, and I need to...
We need to figure that out. Right? Now
you just need to message them I'm and be all that people that we're on your pre order list and be like, Yeah. You're
getting extra.
You're probably okay. And ignore them for now.
Ignore them.
My software screwed up because of all this.
Yeah. Yeah. It's... It... Brings up an interesting
conversation, which I don't have the answer for whether, you know, should so many companies be using the same company, Mh. But on the flip
side, if a good... If a company is
really good and they do a good service.
Why wouldn't more come... You know, why wouldn't
all the companies use them? Yep. Yeah. But
Mh I personally, I think after this, I would not use that company again. College strike.
Yeah. It's know. It's like a fluke in
a random thing, but they did not do their...
Due diligence on checking tests their tests there before before sending them out and they sent something out and screwed over the entire world in a way. Yeah. And it's and it's
1 thing to, like, when you're launching new products or updates to products, it's hard. To test every scenario. Right? You can't
test every scenario, But this wasn't that. This
was a very simple, just run the test and see if go but computer boots up. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You you screwed all
the computers over yeah.
And I feel bad for all the It people. Oh my God. Yeah.
I have some some buddies that are in It, and they were like, it's been hell the past a week.
But my parents flew on delta, and they said that delta has lost over 3 like, what was it dollars off of this. Wow
or something like that. Just people changing flights
and canceling flights and not having flights in lost baggage and pain for hotel rooms or whatever, everything, You know, Just... Yeah. I They said, the flight that
they took from Salt lake City to San Francisco, they were talking to the flight attendants. Mh.
The flight attendants told my mom that they're not sure where they're gonna sleep tonight because all the air... Yeah. All the airline companies
are renting out, and the hotels for customers because that don't have flights in places. So
the the hotels are booked up. Yeah. So
now their employees don't have some place to stay. Wow.
Yeah. It's it's it's crazy.
She's.
Take care of your employees first people, companies out there. And they're they're what keep you
in business. Yeah.
Can you accept a few bad ratings? I
mean, I mean... If you're if you're saving what,
10 rooms out of a hotel or something for your...
I don't know. Yeah. I mean, they pretty
much bunk together anyway. Yeah Right? Yeah.
Just throw them all on the big, 07:40 sevens or 7. Completely. They go overnight. 1
3 80 buses or whatever that have sleeping quarters on them already. Yeah.
Just them there. Have 1 of those at
each airport. For your employees to come and
bump in? Yeah.
That'd be interesting.
Anyways, off podcast here podcast. Sorry about that.
I'm still tired. Yeah.
Let's see Thursday episode is what we're doing sorry before we get into that. We're not
doing the. I... This that's I don't wanna
talk about... Before we get to talk about,
off road. I wanna talk about something off
road, But I don't wanna be political about it. U. I just wanna say how crazy
is this fucking election. That's all I just
wanna leave that lincoln's statement out there with the attempted assassination to the... Elected,
president dropping out. This is... It's insane. Yeah.
So I'm done. I'm leaving it there. I'm
just... I just wanted to go, like,
It's fucking nuts. Right.
Like, I don't know, there's just there... In
my opinion, there's too much drama surrounding or these 2 candidates right now? Yeah. And I'm
like, I just want any anybody else. I
don't care who it is at this point.
I'm like, you just somebody.
I know. Where we got somebody else and
I'm, like, Will, yeah. Can we have some...
I was somebody else.
So all I'm gonna say is take a look at Rf care everybody.
Yeah. I don't I don't know. I was
I'm just gonna say this crazy. He seems
like the only level headed person left right now at this point. So... Yeah.
Anyways, fucking nuts I don't... I don't know what's
gonna happen. And it's gonna be crazy. It's
another record to live through Jimmy. Yeah. Exactly.
Jimmy me these records.
Anyways.
Okay.
Sorry for the interruption. Welcome to Snail trail
4 by 4 off road podcast.
We've got a lot of stuff going on for you guys today. We do.
Let's see. Let's start off with
housekeeping stuff. Is normal. Okay. But we do
have housekeeping stuff going on for. We're starting
to look at the the second half of the month here, so we do have some ultimate 9.
Giveaway going on for our monthly giveaway. So
check out the E x electronic auto control. We have 1 right here.
I'm showing it to put it on there we go.
On the videos, like Youtube, if you guys wanna check it out and see just how small the package I have. I'm gonna right
here in my hand.
Pretty cool stuff. Electronic auto controllers with those
pants are still on too. Alright.
I thought you're reaching... We're reaching for my
pants or for my package. Your package. Okay.
And how small it is. Yep.
Oops upside down. Mh. There you go.
There's that's all it is. On of Tyler's package.
Yeah. Well, there's some other wires and stuff
in there. But, yeah, there's a wire that
then goes back. Underneath your dashboard, but that's
all that is shows up on your on your dashboard. Yeah. Or hidden somewhere on
your r your dash or. However, you wanna
arrange it. Because it has 3m sticky tape
or Mh. Double sided sticky tape on the
backside of it, so you can hide it if you really want to. Which you don't
need to with 1 of these With the EXI mean, you could totally hide it because it is Bluetooth control as well. Oh, true. So
you can just hide it away in your glove box. And
run it all from your phone if you want. Yeah so. Yeah. It's really cool.
I'm excited to try 1 out. This 1
is going out to lucky winner on our snail squad member, giveaway tier. Mh. If you wanna a chance to
win this, you need to go over ira rate 4 by 4, sign up their under the watch list discuss section underneath Sn trail 4 by 4 and all your sign up options are down there. Sweet. I like
it. And then I'm upset because this 1
right here is for my tacoma. It can...
Somebody could win a used 1. Just go
plug it in and rum around the parking lot for a while. Tries. Stages 1 through,
yeah. Affinity or whatever they are. Yeah.
So, yeah. Cool. Really cool product from Ultimate
9. They're at Australian companies, so
I'm working on bringing them into the United States because I think they do some really cool stuff and don't really have a lot of foothold here in the states yet. So
We can do with them, the E x, which is that that full feature Bluetooth controlled 1 is 02:50 retail value.
And the regular 1, the regular E, which is just the control panel, same size as that 1 that Jimmy just showed.
That is 200 dollars retail. Okay. Nice. And
mainly the difference is Bluetooth. Bluetooth, and the
the E x has a couple of other features to it, like pedal lockout.
So it gives you a dead pedal. So
kind of a security feature. And then there's
also a Valet mode, which doesn't let your car go over a 5 or 10 miles an hour or something like that. Oh, wow.
Okay. Cool.
So and then the regular E is just kinda like your your... I don't wanna say
your pedal commander because Pe commander is a super basic version.
Standard nerd throttle controller. It's stayed a throttle
controller with... I I wanna say it's 10:12
different levels of mapping to it. Okay. Yeah. Cool.
Yeah.
So that's the monthly giveaway. We also have
our reviews give boy, with Yokohama and On off road. So, check out the reviews over
on itunes, podcasts, Apple podcast podcasts. That's what it is.
And you can leave a review at, the 50 mark reviews, So at 606 5700.
We do a swag pack giveaway. And that's
where you get the On elite membership with your swag pack, and that'll be once we hit 700 reviews now, and we're creeping up on it.
Everybody who has left a review automatically gets entered for a drawing for every time we do a drawing on reviews.
Absolutely. Yeah. So the next 1 is at
700. That's a swag pack with some cool
stuff from us, nail Arm snail trail more flake.
And a couple other fun companies. We have
some swag around from, and, the On elite membership.
And then at 750, we have a full set of tires from Yokohama tires, which is pretty freaking rad. That's
so rad. So Big, big, thanks to For
doing that. Somebody's gonna win a set of
tires. Mh.
And by that, I mean, me.
Yeah. I've I've just started leaving reviews like
crazy. Yeah. You're good grabbing everybody's fault when
Solely Florida frank this.
And I'm gonna... Yeah. I'm gonna get gang bang
the whole entire, tie. I don't know. See I'm going to
see what going.
I'm interested. You got my attention to gang.
I.
I'm gonna take over the review world. I
Perfect. Go with that 1 Okay. It sounds
good. Well, was that 17 when I'm gonna
cut that out.
I think I edit this 1. I believe
we got that.
Oh, that's funny.
Yeah. The vendor registration come out for KH0,
okay. The dates for K0H are there. They're
doing king of the Moto the first weekend.
Trophy trucks the second weekend, and Ultra for the third weekend. So it's
3 week event now, K0H.
Dang. And so, ulta the ultra 4, the
race of the Kings, the king's the hammers happens on February seventh, I believe. I believe February eighth is
a Sunday. So February seventh, and then you
just go back 2 weekends. But before for
that for the other ones that you guys wanna figure out dates for. Okay? Dang. So
it's usually the first week in February. Yes.
Where that lies. Yep.
So, that's the dates for King of hammers this year.
What more flights getting a bigger booth this year.
Wow. And we're trying to coordinate it to
be across the booth the across the aisle from Yokohama again. Okay. So that'll be fun
to if we make that happen. We'll have
our Yokohama buddies that we can make faces at and.
Make signs and hold them up for them all day long. Cool. Yeah.
You'd buddies You don't wanna say the office, I guess.
What's the obvious? The Yokohama tire Babe? Oh,
yeah. It's funny story about those ladies.
I guess they're... They are terrible at their
job. Oh, yeah.
They the I... It was what... The 1 of the
obama guys were talking with, I think it was Jeff.
We're talking with them last year and he goes man.
These fucking booth babe.
They can't. We they... They're always on their
phones. We have to... We took away their
phones. Like, they're supposed to be in here
and engaging with people walking buy something they came into the booth. Right? They're just on
their phone sitting there the whole time, and then their boyfriends keep hanging out all day long. And we had to kick their boyfriends
out of the booth. Yeah. He goes, when
they're engaging with people they do awesome, but they're just a pain in the Ass micro ranch. Oh, man. Yeah. So, booth babe. Booth
babe for you. That's how it works. You
have a few booth babe. We do. While,
1 has a really nice sup beard. Mh.
Yeah. And the other 1 has a really
fun mustache that, yeah creeped a few people out last year. Yes. I could see that. U. Yeah.
And then does... And 1 has a
a hairy tummy?
They all kinda have hairy Tum. Oh, no.
The the mustache guy doesn't. Oh. He loves
taking his shirt off and showing everybody. So
non Harry tom. He's Harry Tummy. Okay. That
dude has, like, I guess, 0 percent body fat. He works out a lot. Desi? Yes.
I know he's ripped.
He is ripped.
So anyways, yeah, That's the efforts for you.
I half of them. Half of them.
I'm not sure who all is coming out, but we're gonna... Since we're gonna be there
2 weekends, Dang. This year. We're planning on, like, 10
days being down there.
So I don't think I'll be down there the whole time. Okay. We'll have to see
how this goes is the kid gets closer to being 1 year old.
But we will have a booth down there for trophy truck weekend and ultra 4 weekend.
Okay? The Hey you. You're just gonna need
to, like, rotate employees. I... So, yeah. I
think what the plan is to take 3 to 4 employees down there so that they can rotate days off and time off.
Yeah. So I think that's smart. I've... When
I used to work conventions. Mh. And
you're just stuck in the booth the entire time, and it's not fun. That's not fun.
But if you get, you know, if you work the morning half and have the you know, afternoon, half off or by... And rotate
those, you know, it becomes a much more enjoyable event. Yeah. So, we'll see how that
goes, but that's the dates 4KH this year coming up. So is anybody gonna be here
at the studio? I... We're not sure yet.
Yeah. I
we might just shut down shipping for the week and just tell everybody, hey. Sorry. We'll
we'll ship everything when we get back.
But we'll we'll see how we work it out. Yeah. Yeah. I've got some questions on
that, but we'll talk about that on an off air. Yep. Cool.
1 thing, I am thinking about not doing is...
Radio comm.
Oh, okay.
I'd I would like to enjoy KHA little bit more or or focus on at least some more more flight networking stuff.
Yeah.
And I try and set up comm And the the big issue with Comm is that on Saturday after the main race, you can't... I can't go up and get the
equipment. And until after the race is closed...
The course closed.
Our close course is cold, so technically course is open.
And so means I can't even leave camp until, like, 11:11 30 Pm, which means going up, grabbing all the equipment coming back down, I don't get back down into camp until 1 or 2AM, and we're trying to get out of there at, like, 6AM.
Right.
On Sunday morning. Yeah. And so, last year,
just nobody got me sleep and it was it was dangerous driving back, mainly because of how windy it was, but it was compounded because I help... Tired everybody was too. Sure.
So... Yeah. A last year, I left before
the ultra 4 race. Mh. I left on.
I think it was a Emc day. Yeah.
And I felt that I didn't get to do enough networking because there weren't... Like, nobody was
really around until Emc day. Yeah. Know, or king of
the hammers, you know, ultra for race day.
And that's when everybody sort of was coming out. Yeah. And so I think I'm gonna
shift because last year, I came down early and hung out for a while and then plan to leave early. Mh. But this year, I think I'm
just gonna show up for more or less Emc day. Mh. And stay an extra day
on the backside. So I don't have to
worry about rushing out. I believe on Monday.
Yeah. We're, like,
Sunday at you know, 5 06:00 at night, you know, and just get home late. Gotcha.
Yeah. I don't know. There's there's definitely something
there that I need to figure out logistics wise. If I wanna keep doing radio comps,
we can't leave early Sunday morning anymore.
It's just not safe. So we're towing towing
as much shit as we do down there.
So Yeah. We'll need to... I don't know. I've
I've got some thinking to do. Yeah. Yeah.
Sounds like it. Alright. So that's some K
stock. Yeah. We're starting early on K stock
I get. Yeah. Wow.
Well, in regards to events, we talked about a few things last, Thursday, I believe it was, but we didn't hit on Sierra track.
Oh, we did not. Yes. Ci trek is
definitely coming up. That's, like, 2 weeks away
now. Yeah. Which I'd... That's... I need to
get my shit together for that too. So
yeah. Air check is coming up. That's always
a really, really fun event up at Meadow lake.
Up at Summit City.
And, I... We might have,
some recording to do.
Fyi. Okay.
About the history of Summit at City. Oh,
good. We're job we're lining that up. Yep.
I'm a... I've been I've been in talks
with the cold people about those. So
yeah. It'll be cool. Sierra checks is gonna
be awesome.
I'm only really gonna be up there Friday night. Okay? So I might be coming up
Friday afternoon evening and then staying through Saturday.
Maybe dinner than head out.
So we'll see how that goes having the kid on his first overnight, We like overnight wheel trip I. Yeah. I
was gonna say, you've already done an overnight.
Yeah. August eighth is the... I think the
official start of Sierra trek.
That's a... What a Tuesday, Wednesday? No. That's
the Thursday. The Thursday? Okay. Yeah. That makes
sense. So I mean, people are up there
setting up and doing a lot of work prior to that, but I think the first.
Scheduled, like, morning run. The... With... That's a
full full run trip is on the eighth.
Okay. Yep.
Cool. So 8, 9 and 10.
August 8 9 and 10 is sierra trick.
I believe registration, at least if you want meals and food is closed.
You can always come up and hang out at Meadow lake at with no charge.
Hang out be a part of the festivities.
Take part in the Raffle.
The best way if you wanted to come up and support California 4 wheel drive association is to, partake and participate in the Raffle.
Okay.
Registration is awesome to pay for, but mainly, all the cost of registration really goes into paying for the insurance.
On the event.
And so and the food.
So food and insurance. So if you're up
there, not doing the runs, not eating Cr checks food, and you wanna support Cal then partake the raffle. Go is the best way? Yeah. Awesome.
So that's going on.
Let's see what else Jeep Jam is going on this weekend? I have a correction.
I said that there was 2, parade permits, jj j Usa, and Jeep Jam, that was incorrect apparently. Is... Oh, jj j
Usa does not pull up parade permit. Oh,
there are 2 events that get parade permits.
So there's okay. Jeep jam and Jeep Jam,
and Jeep Jam, Usa. There's that's 3 different
events. Oh, jeez. Okay. And Jeep Jam
and Jeep Jam are the same organization.
Jeep Jam is the adult. Oriented Jam, Jeep
jam is the family oriented Gym, and then Jeep Jam Usa, is more family oriented, but a different organization.
So if anybody's confused yet, go back rewind them. Yeah.
Rewind that.
There's 3 jeep organizations or 2 organizations run 3 events. Yep.
And they're all called Jeep something. Yep. All
calls Gym something? Yeah. And
so is the single organization that runs 2 events, the 1 that gets 2 permits? Yes. Gotcha. Yep. So they
get the parade permits.
And then just to help make those even more complicated the...
Jeep Jam, which is the original. That's the
original 1.
That's gets the parade permits. They are started
a side by side Gym. Yes.
I don't think they pull a parade permit for that 1 though.
I don't know. Yeah. I know that it...
What... Is it right?
It's either right directly before or right after.
Yeah. I think it's right after all of
them because jj Usa does their event before.
And then... So they do their event before,
then there's kind of a week off to clean up the trail and clean up the springs before the Jam hit.
So this weekend is the adult Jeep Gym coming up, and then I believe next weekend.
Is jj j or Cr trek or they do a week off in? I'm not sure. So...
Yeah. It's not track. Yeah.
So anyways, logistics of Jam breeze, I don't own a Jeep, so I don't pay attention to them that much logistic of Rub con. A rubric
because really when it comes down to because there's just times when you're not allowed to be out on the trail and people don't quite understand that. Yep. And then there's times when
everybody goes out on the trail because there's a limiting factor on when you can go out on the trail. True. Like this past
weekend. That's past week which we will talk
about. Yes.
Yeah.
I don't know. Is there any other housekeeping
stuff? There's a giveaway with Walter?
National going on. That's, you know, go and check
out the Walter Drill coat or Triumph abrasive, drill bits, consumables at your no your local welding supply store and, take a picture of them, and there's a Qr code, to, submit your information for the National With Walter.
Check that out. You can win 2 year
lease on an f 01:50 trimmer, which is pretty cool.
And then, we have our in conjunction with that national and we have our giveaway going on for a really cool consumable price package with Walter surface technologies, and you have until the end of August to submit your submission for that 1. So
send those submissions into us, and we'll get you guys announced for a winner in September. Perfect september.
I, does it. Any other give voice for
that's good. Yeah. K. We've been around
fitted in some more stuff, And then give stuff into the the housekeeping. But
you went on a kind of a a round 3 of adventure parks? Yeah. I went on
a little roller coaster ride of of roller coaster far.
Nice. How was that? It was your your
roundabout? Which... Well, how many did you go
see? What was your favorite ride?
Yeah. Did you get a fa?
No. Oh, okay. Was I supposed to funnel
cake maybe? No. No. There was a lot
of funnel cakes for sale. Yeah. Did see
those all over the place. Yeah. No. We
had a, kind of a whirlwind of southern California of, theme parks down there. We did not go
to Disneyland.
Oh, or lego, lego, like a Orlando land, lego lego land.
But we did hit Knot berry farm. Nice.
And we hit Knot Farms Water park. Okay.
And then we went to 6 flags Magic Mountain.
Okay. Yeah. So it was flags that in
Bakersfield or not valencia. No,
Ventura. Ventura. Okay. Ventura. Yep. Yep. That 1.
Not Vale. Not vale. Yeah.
Ventura.
So it was good. We bought pretty much
bombed down there the first day.
And that took a day to get down there. Takes... It took
8, 9 hours. U. And, you know, I
was like, we need to leave earlier. We
need to leave earlier and Everybody was like, well if we leave or the assistant.
Everybody. Everybody said, if we leave too early,
then we're just not gonna have anything to do. I'm like, yeah, But if we leave
too late, we're gonna hit 05:00 traffic. U.
So we gotta we gotta make the window of when we depart, not be 05:00 in La. Yeah.
So we hit 05:00 traffic.
Okay.
Perfect just took a long time.
But it pretty much reroute us all the way around Outlet La. Like, we took all
the... Like, I... I don't know if the...
She got to Johnson Valley in the background guidance. It felt like that.
We drove out to Pasadena, and then we literally turned off the freeway in Pasadena and did side roads, the rest of the way.
Down said not berry farm. Wow. We which
is semi close to Anaheim, Disneyland area. Okay.
But, yeah. So then the next day we
woke up, we went out to the park, the park, opens at 10, but they open the gates at, like, 09:30. Mh. And so you can
go in, and you can sign start lining up or wander a little bit of the park. They kinda have it people standing, so
you can't just go everywhere. Yeah.
And then we, went on to their, like, wooden roller coaster that they're known for. And
I'm drawing a blank of the name at the moment. Not old rush? Or is that 6
flags gold rush?
It's something like that. Yeah. It's not... It's
gold rush themed.
Yes. Okay. There is a gold rush. So
1 of the fun things about Knot berry farms is there's, like, 4 or 5 areas and they all have their own themes. Okay.
There's an old West gold rush gold rushed kind of town where they're teaching people how to, like, do 4 and how to do mining and how to do actually gold digging and just you learn a lot about it. I know
a lot about cold digger.
I believe you. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. I get the messages of on Instagram
all the time.
Yeah.
They have a, like, a Spanish heritage, like, area. Okay. You know, where it was
all about the emissions in California.
And interesting heritage of growing up in a lot of, like, Dna wear stuff out there. Mh. So that was pretty
cool.
They had a sm or not Sm. They
had Scooby doo land. Okay. So they had
a big old... Like, that was the kid
area. Mh Right? And it was just just,
like, I wanted to go and just see it.
And it was 1 of the later things we did and I was like, yeah, I'm glad we didn't gummy here earlier. It's just
kids on galore or galore. Kids Kids galore.
Yeah. And just little kid rides, you know,
like, the the little spaceship that just rises and falls as it spins around. It doesn't do any.
Not even a roller coaster or anything.
There's a few other ones that were there.
But the many assistant has done has done Roller coasters, like, likes Roller coasters has done the inc coaster at California Adventure. Okay. Like, it launches you out
of the the in inc coaster launches you out of their, like, hanger. Mh. Shoots up
to, like, I don't know. 70 80 miles
an hour, maybe more. The like, you go
through the... This obstacle of roller coasters and
then you come down and do, like, a loop loop and then you come back into the station. Okay. Right? So she's,
Done a loop loop. She's done and speed
accelerated acceleration drops and so, would not go on a roller. Coaster. What?
I'm like, what is going on here and she's, like, I don't like the way that 1... Like, how you sit in that 1.
I don't like the way that 1 turns.
I don't like this, you know, it just was being super nit picky. U. About all
the roller coasters. And I think, you know,
she was just a little scared, you know, a little timid of it. So
we we convinced her to go on 1 or 2, and she just wasn't having. She
was just being a moody girl? Okay. They
had 1 roller coaster in this, like, California beach theme area that had this... I think they claimed it's the steepest
drop out of, like, any roller coaster.
Which I'm not quite sure how that works because. There's all kinds of different drops. But
what happens is they they crank you up to the top, they lean you over and you stop, Mh. And then you drop and I... It
felt inverted. Like, it fell backwards hun. Well,
like, yeah, you're overhang and you're diving down, like, at a weird angle first just a second.
And then it spins off. U. And she
obviously went... Didn't wanna do that 1 because
of that 1 reason, but that roller coaster was glass. That was a lot of fun.
They also had a 1 there called the silver bullet, but it was, like, orange and yellow. So not quite sure how that all
worked. Yeah. But that 1 was a lot
of fun targeting on that 1 hourly.
Yeah. I don't know. I don't know what...
What got missed there, But that 1 was a lot of fun, But, yeah. The many
assistant wasn't happening. So we did a lot
of... The day, kinda just looking at the
park walking around, just seeing things. Trying... There's
not very farm originated as, like, eighth, farming area, and they started, like, jam kind of company. Okay. That's was funny
I met with La Corey, yesterday. And he was telling me all this
history of it.
And I was like, I did not know all... Like I was there and I didn't
know all this stuff. Yeah. But I did
know that it started off as sort of a farming area, and then they kind of, like, built an an entertainment thing. Like... The gold rush
area about it, and then they really liked that aspect. Okay. And they sold the farm
off and continued to grow the amusement park.
Okay. The So it was fun. We had
a really good time there. I think it
was a very underrated theme park. I think, like, we could not
do everything in 1 day.
Like, but if we went back a second day with what we did, there wouldn't have been that much to do. Okay. So if you
wanna have, like, If you wanna go to knot berry farm, you can try to cram it all in in 1 day. It probably...
It's would be really tough. Yeah. But you
might be able to do it, it probably would be nice to take 2 lazy days.
Yeah.
Between. Yeah. And just have, you know, go
for a few hours, come home, or go back to the hotel and the heat of the day and then go back at night when, you know, things are lit up. Yeah.
And just be relaxed about it and get a funnel kick to go. Exactly. Yeah.
So the second day, third day, the trips, second day of amusement parks. We went to the Knot
farms, water park, which is pretty much just across the street. Mh. And that place was
rad. It was huge. Like, I don't know
if I bend to a water park that lot I haven't been to a water park in a really, really long. Like, it might have been, like,
grade school. Oh, wow. Like junior High much
Yeah. Since I've been to a water part.
Well, we go to the 1 up in Rose Rock.
Sun splash. Yeah. We go to suns splash.
Oh every year, every summer because that's the many assistant loves just going and writing the rights. Okay. And it's doesn't like Roller
coaster but she does... Yeah. Doesn't on that.
Okay. So we talked a lot about conquering
your fears, think having positive thoughts. Mh. You know, and
while we're were at the water park because she likes water park Rides. Mh. We tried
to teach, help her go into, like, rides that she would not have done.
There. Okay. Because she really
doesn't like... Or didn't like the
body slides. Like, the just normal... Like, slides
where you're just yourself U. No tube or
anything else.
And so we got her to try a few of those.
And we got her to kinda get out of her shell. Like, she doesn't like the
fully enclosed tunnel ones. Okay. But then she
started liking them because she went down 1.
You know, and she's... So she started having
a really good time.
She really... Like, we tried to hit the
water slides first, and then we've tried to do the wave pool, like, at the end of the day. So Mh, the assistant and
I could kinda, like, just sip pack. And.
She could go run around and be crazy.
But they had a code Brown. Oh, no.
Yeah.
So...
Yeah. And it was funny because the mini
assistant came back and she's like, I'm sort of scared to go in the in the in the wave pool and, like, why? You
know? She's like, I saw this weird brown
thing like, float by me.
And I was like, you think somebody put a boneless brown trout and she was like, yeah. And I was
like, no. You must have been seeing things.
And then I think we went off to go get a drink or a ice or something and we came back and we're like, okay.
You know, let's go into the way pool and then there was, like, evacuation, It'll, like everybody out, all this stuff, like the water went recite.
Wow It yeah. And nobody really, like, they
didn't announce it. You know, They didn't say
it. But then so we're like, okay. Well,
it's near the end of the day. Let's
just go hit some of the slides that we enjoyed that we had fun. Mh. And
so we went up to this 1 where your, you 568 stories up in the air, and there's you know, an attendant up there. And I turned
and know, like, he was sending people off, but I was sorta low, and I was like, so was there was there a code brown in the wave pool. And he's like,
well, actually, we call it, Oh, that's funny. I've never heard that turn
before. I like that. Yes, there was a
coat.
What do they call it? I know he
never said because he caught caught up and what I said? Yeah. You know? Because I think if
I would've have said if... Hated somebody poop
in the pool. Yeah. You would have been,
like, no. Yeah. You know. Yeah. No. They
just... It... They wanna end or at and
get people you know, whatever.
You know, But I I caught him off guard with my. So... Yeah.
So the is... He's gonna take that back
to leadership now. They're gonna be like. Yeah.
That's the new the new code brown code brown. Yeah. Right.
It's a little too obvious, I think. But
I I think... Yeah. It's super funny.
Baby ruth, I think is what they call it over with.
But the mini assistant was conquering fears. She was doing much better.
So that evening, we drove up to Ventura. And,
got into the hotel, and the next morning we went to 6 flags. Okay. So we
got to 6 flags. We went and caught
the shuttle. The first shuttle that was available.
We walked into the park, like Right as it was opening. Mh. Everybody runs over to
this x 2 race or roller coaster. Okay.
And it's supposedly the craziest and wireless roller coaster there. So everybody runs that way. So
we went the other way. Okay. And there
were no lines. Yeah. Nobody was out the
direction we went. U. So we
we're trying to build up the roller coasters to the mini assistant, and we... So we
looked at this 1 roller coaster called the Goliath. Mh. And
we're like, look, all it has is low key... Wow this is a fairly low key
roller coaster. Like, it's more than a kitty
roller coaster.
But it's not like the maximum. I think
it was rated, like, moderate on their app or something like that.
It doesn't go upside down. It doesn't do
any barrel rolls. It
doesn't do much. It just has a a
big drop. Mh. Like, can you handle big,
you know, This big drop. She's like, I
think I can do it. And I was
like, okay. Great. And so we went on
it. Later we find out that it's, like,
the biggest drop in the the tallest drop drop in the entire theme park, and it has... At the bottom
and I think it was throwing some of the most g's out of that That's a.
A spiral. Yeah. Like, pulls,
what is it? 7 and a half g's,
7 g's. Something crazy. Yeah. I was, like,
whoa. Like, where. I'm getting sucked into I
seat pretty good. Mh.
Yeah. So it was funny because we thought
it was something super basic, but it actually turned out to be a big roller coaster.
Some... It has some... Yeah, big notable things
to. I mean, in terms of, like, t
you around, it's really mild, but it has a couple of, Yep biggest things Like in California. Right. Yeah.
So after that, we're, like, how are you doing?
And she's like, that was fun. I really
liked it. Nice. I'm, I think I can
do you know, something else. And we're like,
okay. So then we just sw revenge. Yeah.
By of house. She didn't do that 1.
Actually, she... I have, apologize. She did do
that 1. 0, cool. But she hated it.
Because it's a stand up 1. And when
the stand up ones get old, they just shake. I apologize Oh, like, just because the
leverage points. And so it was just way
too bouncy for. Gotcha. But that was later
in the day. That 1 t you round.
That that 1 t is you. Pretty good.
So the next 1 we went on was, like, twisted colossus. I think is what they
called it. Okay And it's a conversion of
It's a wooden roller coaster and metal roller coaster in 1. Gotcha.
Colossus was all wood.
The original 1 I guess. So can they
update it? I think they did. Okay.
Yeah. At some point, they updated it. It's
also the Roller or coaster in National Lamp Ko, holiday... Not holiday vacation. The... 1 of the
national lamp.
Okay. Videos. Yeah. It's the roller coaster. Okay.
So we did that, and we thought it was just like a wooden roller coaster that's, you know, gonna be bumpy and that's the way it is.
Yep. But it's... Was way more than that.
They... That's got some good drops in it.
It flipped you upside down. I wrote... So
I wrote all the times we went upside down. I was in my phone. Okay.
Because we were that sort of became 1 of the things to talk about with the mini assistant be like, like, let's figure out how many times we're gonna go upside down today. U. So... Yeah.
Twisted colossus just went upside down twice. Okay.
In it. So then it was like, yeah,
They updated it then because last time, I was there, which was high school. Right?
Okay. 6 flags.
It was just colossus. And it's just this
wooden old wooden roller coaster, which gets your head really close to a lot of wooden beams above you. Yes.
And so that's kind of the thrill of that 1. Other than that, I hated that
roller coaster because it's so old just jerks and t around the worst. Happened. It was...
It was pretty bad, but would you go on to a wooden roller because you expect.
Yeah. That's what you know. Yeah. So there
was 1 that it it went to do, like, a barrel roll? And it spun around
and it went upside down, and then it stopped and you hung out upside down for a second. And then it spun you back
around the same way that you went. So
you didn't do a... Full barrel. You would
did, like, a half. U. And then went
back. So that was pretty fun.
But at that point, it was... We said
to the mini says it. Well you just
went on your first roller coaster that you went upside down twice. Mh. Like, how are
you doing? And she's like, that was awesome.
You know, I specifically shot video.
Of her, like, before and after some roller coasters. Mh. I threw them up on my
personal Instagram page, just because I don't like, showing the family off on social media too much.
But I should... Like, a video before, like,
how you feeling what's going on? Like, are
you gonna be alright? And then a video
the video after her going, like, that's amazing.
That's so fun, Blah blah. You know, just
it it was fun to see the difference in attitude. Yeah. Before and after. But
So then the next 1 we went on was called scream.
So we... And it's 1 of those where
you...
You're l... You're sitting, but your feet, but
the bottom of it drops out underneath you. You're not hanging from the top.
Okay. You're just... It's still a roller coaster
underneath, but you have no floor. Okay. You're
just sitting in a in a chair.
And so we jumped onto to that 1.
And when we were sitting there and waiting to go, the announcer person was like, hey. Welcome to scream. This roller coaster goes
the upside down the most in the entire theme park. It goes up 7 times. Upside
down 7 times. U. And the mini assistance
is like, I wanna get off. I wanna
get off. I don't wanna do this. Too
late. I was like, you're already locked in.
Yep. Like, you were already... We can't stop
the race. Like, the roller coaster you've got
to... You know, you've gotta suck it up,
girlfriend, like, we're we're going. And she's she's
like, no. No. No. And then they, like,
just took us out. She's like I wanna
do this. I don't wanna do this. I'm
like, Like, at the end, if you don't wanna do this and we can, like, we'll find easier roller coasters. Like, we didn't know this.
But let's see how this goes.
So we got done? And she's, like,
can we do that again?
Of course. I was like, Yes. U. And
so we did it another, like, right back to back. There was no line. And at
that point, so it's pretty cool not to have a line for scream. Yeah. That 1
was brand new when I was down there a lot. Okay. Yeah So that 1 went
upside down 7 times. So we went upside
down... 14 times on that roller coaster. And
2 more times un twisted colossus.
And so 16 times right there, and the assistant and I were, like, we've gotta a slow down. Like. There's been no lines on
any of these roller coasters. Yep. We've get
hit, like, 4 roller coasters in an hour.
Mh. And we've gone upside down 6 times
and then t around, like, mh. Let's go
get some water. Like, you, like, we need
to relax. And so
we did go end up going on a lot of roller coasters that day. I wasn't
gonna go through them all.
Our favorite. We didn't make it onto to
x 2. Okay. Which is supposedly like, the
craziest 1, which I sort of regret, but I'm also, like, yeah, whatever. That's the 1 where you're
you're essentially hanging. But it's also on a
pivot. Right? So yeah. You have... You're... Typically
in Roller coasters you're you're solid in place, but you're getting thrown around by the track, whatever path you're taking on the track. This
1, you're also on a pivot. So there's
another dimension of movement and to the roller coaster as you're going. Yeah. So it you
could be doing a loop d loop, but you actually don't spin. Yeah. You know? Or
you're going straight spin. Yeah. Where you gonna
straight your spin, Are you doing, like, AAA twist a cyclone or what did you call it a spiral. Down and your...
Point it your lane sideways and your spinning.
You know, the other direction... You know, Yeah.
It's it's supposedly really kinda crazy and fun.
Mh.
We didn't we didn't end up hitting it.
We kinda ran out of time.
The mini assistant, like, screamed the best. Okay.
We... The assistant I really enjoyed
Tat.
Yeah. Tat a good. Tat sue was interesting.
It was...
It's a dragon themed roller coaster, and they're trying to make you feel like you're the dragon. Mh. And so when you you
go up there and you sit down in the seat, and then they like, pull your butt up to the top of the roller coaster. And you're literally
almost lane parallel to the ground, Mh. In this roller.
Like you're flying. Like you're gonna fly, like,
superman. Yeah. But when you... And then they
crank you up, and the roller coasters is on the top of the hill. Mh So
you just have this view of everything. Yeah.
And then it drops. But when you drop,
you're, like, head first. Like flying, like, you're
diving.
Like, you're the dragon, which is crazy.
And the barrel rolls were fun, and there's was 1 point where you were upside down, so your belly to the sky. And you're doing,
like, a loop loop on it. Yeah. And
it's just this weird inverted g's that you don't experience in a roller coaster because you're never... Lane like that. Yeah. So that 1
was really cool. What was funny about that
1 was at the very end, Like, you know how when roller coaster comes to the end. It stops and they're still, like, loading
the 1 in front. U. You're still laying.
They don't bring you down. Yeah You're still
laying there, and there's just a like, you could just see washed off puddle puddle of p.
Underneath you. Like, people, like, did the ride
or, like, Oh, I okay. And that's hold
it anymore and just lets it go.
You know, I if somebody comes by and washes and off and they clean off at some. But, yeah, there was just tons of
that. The mini assistant, we walked up... We
said we wanna do that 1 in the mini systems, like, I don't wanna do that 1. Like, you don't have to. But you
have to stay in line with us. Yeah.
Like you can't... Just hang out. You know,
you're 11 years old. We're not leaving you
on a park bench. Mh. So
she walked just walked through the ride and we went to the exit. And stood there
for 2 revolutions. Mh. So we got back
out. That was that was fun.
That was the assistant and I my favorite ride there.
And it was fun to see the many assistant, like, get out of her bubble. Right?
She opened up, Either. She... So we ended
up going upside down 40 times.
That day. Nice. Whether was a barrel roll
or a loop d loop or something. Yeah.
So we went on a lot. With the
last ride we did, I... The name escapes
me, but it was... It's supposedly the largest,
like, single loop...
In the world.
It's a hundred and 60 foot tall loop. Okay. And nothing really supporting it Mh.
And so you just... And so they launch
you out of this out of the, like, station. And you go 0 to 70 miles
an hour, and I tried to find how long. Long how fast it goes How or
takes all get to the excel 70 miles an hour, but I couldn't find it. K.
And then you do this huge hundred and 60 foot tall loop. U. And you get
to the top and I swear I was like, we're not gonna make it. We're nobody
that. You're not making it. But they've got
it so well precise. And the loop is
so long that like, you're hang you're hanging for a while because it's just a huge loop.
And then you come down the other side and then you did another, like, barrel roller loop d loop on the backside, and then they stopped you in this tunnel.
They're like, okay. And I knew how the
ride more or less went. I knew that
they shoot you out and you go over the top of the hundred and 60 foot loop, and then you're back at the station.
Mh.
Well, I did not expect them to shoot us out backwards first.
So they shot us out backwards. You go
up the back of this loop. And you
hang there for a second, and then you come forward and then they must turn the gears around or something, because then when you hit that tunnel, then it's shooting you forward again. Okay. And you go over the top
of the the loop there and then back into the station. So that 1 was fine.
It was, you know, we were telling the mini assistant decision. Like, you just went on
a roller a world of record holder roller coaster. You know? And so there was all
these, like, how do you continuously...
Entice and motivate her to try new things.
Yeah. And, you know, like, what what what's
the carrot? Right? How do you do that?
And for us, it was sort of upside downs and new things. So, like, it was
always...
You haven't done this type of roller coaster yet. Like, we haven't done the riddle. You
haven't done 1 that you're standing. Yeah. The
entire time. Right? You haven't done 1 where
you're hanging. U. Where you're hanging underneath the
track and you're... There's nothing underneath you. You
know, it's all these, like...
This... You've... You've conquered your fear of roller
coasters. Yeah. Let's now go on ones that
you haven't experienced yet. Yeah. So that was it was
a fun trip on that aspect because it was fun to see the growth of the child.
Yeah. As we,
went along. So then...
So 1 of the things I did and college. 1 of my research papers was on
experiential education. Mh. And the
importance and and the effectiveness of experiential education versus Pe education, which is what we have in schools.
Right? Yes. There's a teacher standing there talking
to you the whole time. Absolutely. An experiential
education is putting the kids in scenarios or putting your your learner in scenarios where they're doing something.
Yeah.
And the the a, we just found that the research shows that everybody nowadays is very... There's 3 different
types of learning. Right? Audio, audio, visual and
doing, dexterity.
And, audio learning is not...
A good learning source. Like, people just don't
learn that well anymore, which is what pe teaching is all about.
Whereas we're all very visual and very hands on. Visual is the top 1 nowadays because
of what social media has been doing. Right.
And then experiential is next. And then, audio
is the last 1 of how people learn best. Okay. And everything in our school system
is set up for audio. Pretty much. Audio
and a little bit of visual. If you
have a good teacher. Yeah. You can get
that and really good teachers mix in, all 3. Right? Sure. Expansion and everything. But experiential
education, the big benefit to that. The added
benefit that you can't really get out of the other 2 is the, confidence building from facing your fears. Sure. Right. Absolutely. And
so that's a a such a huge massive part, expansion education and the big bonus to it because you literally just can't do that with audio and and visual stuff.
And so there's a there's another aspect of confidence boosting and becoming an individual personality that comes from experiencing things. Sure. Yeah.
So it's cool that you got to hash that out and tease it and you're constantly doing that with her Yeah. Well, and I
think that's, you know, to some extent, as a parent, you're always just trying to make the little ones.
Better people. Yeah. And you're you're just... In
a way, it's... You're playing a game with,
in a way yourself and them. Mh. Of
how do I continuously improve your life and how teach you...
Like, continuously try to teach you. Yeah.
In the process. Yeah. And
it's it's different every day. Right? Even like, with
the baby, you know, it's the way that 1 thing worked 1 day, it's not how it's gonna work the next day. Yeah. And,
you know, it's trying to get her to go on roller coasters at the first theme park and not it's very farm didn't work. Yeah. But we
found an avenue. Yeah.
So when we went to the next roller coaster theme park, it... She wanted to hit
almost every single ride. Yeah. So it's... Yeah.
It's just a matter of, you know, and key... And and to some extent, a
matter of keeping them out of their head.
Yeah. There's a lot of there's a lot
of stuff that goes into fear. Yeah.
And fears a strong force. Yeah. The psychology
of fear is fascinating to me. Yeah. And
the trying to get them to conquer fears, especially at a younger age. Mh. You know, she's
11, and I think and personally, I think she could be doing a lot more what individual stuff. Mh.
I don't know if that's kind of the right term. She could be more...
Independent. Mh. Then she really is. She's still
very... She's a t. Like, we... It's a
term that I've never heard before, but it's so true, where she still wants to be a kid, but she's, like, has these emotions that make her, a teenager. Yeah. You know, she, like, still
wants to sleep with a teddy bear. Mh.
But she will go to the roller coaster park and be like, I don't wanna ride those kitty wreck. It's. Yeah. You know? It's
just this, like, weird in between stage. U.
Where she's really learning who she is. Yeah. And it's
it's fun to be a part of it it's fun to help, and I think that's 1 of the joys of being parent. Yeah.
Cool.
Yeah. We had I had a read out
on the Rub con. Yeah.
I saw some photos of the Rub con.
U. I heard
lots of stories about how chaotic and crazy It was out there this weekend. Yeah. And
I saw some photos and in person, very bright green fore runner. Yes. It's a
obnoxious. It's amazing. Yeah. We got some actual
core. Here we are a rough play an
hour in. We got some of offered road
content for hood content to go over. Yeah.
The, Rub con was awesome. It was the
Matt Hat suburb picnic, Right? We had do
a summer pot lock picnic kind of thing, and we did it at ice house resort. Got
the big group camping area, and then we're for the wheel portion of it. We go
out and do the or spring loop? Cool.
Yeah. Which is your guys is adopted to
the trail. It is. Yep. Yep. So you
get some eyes on what work you need to get done. Yep. And so we went
through went in Went west Springs Campground and came out Lu lake, and then back ice house resort for the pot luck.
But it was... I mean, even on that
stretch, it was still fairly busy.
There was still a little bit of traffic and once we got on the main trail at the inner tie.
There was a couple times when the the big groups passed each other, and just have to set off side. Yep.
But it was it was cool because I knew there was gonna be a lot of people out there that I knew.
Hu was out there.
Samurai James came out. Yep. Ultra 4 Jones
was out there.
Derek from total off road podcast was out there. Oh, really? 20 in the rover, crew
was out there. Crew.
Jeff Dean, with the in the rover crew. Yeah. Yeah
goes out there.
So there's a lot of people out there, And so I was like I wonder who I'm gonna run into.
And so Ended up running into James and Rhonda. Yeah. Anne Hu. Okay. And Greg. Yep.
And I never saw Derek Kevin, Donnie never saw those guys.
But apparently, they all, a lot of them got hung up in the traffic jam at Big Loose.
There was a massive traffic jam like, all day long at big S, and that was kind of the talk. 1 of
the talks of the trail. This week.
Another big talk of the trail was, person went missing. Yeah.
Still missing. Still missing. They haven't found him
yet.
It's a Jeep Jam volunteer.
And, they said that he likes to go on hikes.
So it's not weird to have him go out on a hike for a day, but he missed his check time. Yes. And still
is missing his check time.
Search and rescue has been called, and there...
There's a big search party going on all day long on Saturday and Sunday, and I'm probably Monday as well. I've kind of,
lost track of paying attention to it as of Monday.
But he's still missing. Yeah.
So it's crazy. It is pretty crazy.
A jeep. He knows the trail. He volunteers.
He... He's been around, you know, like, it's
not unknown territory for him. Yeah. He just...
And there's a lot of people on the trail right now too. So it's like,
for him to go missing, something bad had to have happened. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. I don't... He he probably... I
mean, I'm clearly speculating here obviously. But probably just had
a weird accident that dropped him down a hill or I'm mountain or something or I'm thinking bear cliff cliff thing. Yeah.
Yeah. I don't know The bears up there.
They're 2 mountain They're not a well fed. Yeah. They're
they get into people's camps a lot, So they're not... If black bears attack, it's because
they're hungry. And they're desperate for food. And,
the the bears on the rub counter are not desperate for food. No. That not. So
I I find it really hard to believe that it was a bear. Could've have been
a mountain lion. There's been some mountain line
attacks up in the El dorado National Forest lately, like, the 1 in Georgetown that took the 2 kids out.
So maybe a mountain lion attack, but I mean, there's so much people intrusion on the Rub trail that typically Mount mines stay away. Yeah.
So I don't know. It's my... I think
it's a combination of heat and, fell down a cliff or something to a wrong step.
It was hot this weekend. I mean, yeah.
It would definitely was. Ne trail is 6000
foot elevation, So you're looking at 18 20 degrees difference between what it is down in Sacramento.
It was still 90 degrees on the trail.
Jeez. On Saturday. At Sun unreal. It was
pretty crazy.
It was definitely hotter than I can withstand while we and so I think it was a matter of something combination of heat, maybe, dehydration, and heat exhaustion combination with, taking a bad step somewhere. Yep.
So we'll see. Hopefully, fingers crossed, everything works
out.
Right. But what are we 3 days in
and we still haven't found the gentleman? Yeah.
It's... A word is that it has turned
from a rescue into recovery now? Got it.
So bummer. Yeah.
So we'll see what what comes to that.
Just be careful out there guys, especially in the wilderness. I mean, out in
the out in the mountains, even though it's on a highly highly traffic trail like the Rub and that weekend in particular was batch can still happen. Yeah.
Plan and prepare for it.
Anytime you go out wheel. Jimmy and I
harp every time. You know, what is your
your planning strategy for wheel trips, always plan on a wheel trip turning into a camping trip. Yep. Always plan on a
hiking trip turning into a camping trip. And
that you've got excess resources whenever you go.
And this is just an example of why that's important to keep in mind. Yeah. Yeah.
And it's pretty crazy, especially because, you know, like, we know the trail so well and we understand it, and there's so many people around that that just this is weird. Yeah. Yeah. Somebody disappears
in the middle of it. Yeah. But, yeah.
I, hopefully, you know, fingers crossed. I mean,
maybe he's got survival techniques or something, and he's fell and broke his leg and can't move, and... But there's near water. I don't
Yeah. I don't know. Hopefully, it works out
well, but yeah, If it's a recovery adventure now. It's it's sad news. Yep.
So updates on how my trip went was I mean, uneven event, no, there... Or, I don't wanna
say uneven event for. There were some fun
events.
I, I'm still dealing with the overheating issue. Right?
So I was, like, I wanna figure out how a mechanical fan does in there, because I've seen people run mechanical fans no shroud, and it does awesome with 3 4 engines, the 234. Okay?
So I took the electric fan out.
When I got the 400 back, and we'll talk about that in a minute. I took
the electric fan out, topped off my fluids, did all my fluid check and everything, and put a mechanical fan on. K. And
set letting it sit their idle on the trailer for about 20 minutes. The temperature never went
over 1 85.
On the Ec. Sounds okay? Sounds good. So...
And we know that my my Ec sensor is reading correctly So I'm dependent on using that for my temperature gauge ages now.
And idling never went over 1 85, which is already a big improvement.
With the electric fan, I had it set for the fan to come on at 1 85, and then, shut off at 1 75.
So... And but the the temperature on the
Ec would get up to 1 95 before coming back down to 1 75 for the fans shut off.
Wow. So,
already, just at the mechanical fan, the temperature never went over 1 85 which is a big improvement. And whenever I
rev up the engine, the temperature would drop.
Sure. Wouldn't keep increasing, Okay. Because there's... I
was thinking, you know, more load to more Rpm on the engine, more combustion happening per minute, that more air pull. More heat, but
more air poles as well. Yeah. So, I
was like, cool. Mechanical fan is doing its
job. I think we're gonna be good.
Go out on the trail and driving to...
The trail, the engine stayed cooler than with the electric fans.
Okay? So on road driving temperatures,
was awesome. Was the Ac on. It was.
Mh. So I was running the Ac.
So it never got over 1 95 200.
Driving from ice house resort up to what we're Springs. And there's a couple of some
good climbs and grades in there. Some good
hills. And so I was like, cool. On
road. It's doing a lot better than electric
fans, it's staying 20 degrees cooler or almost, 15 to 20 degrees.
So let's see how it does on the trail. Yeah. Crawling.
Cool No bueno no crawling. No. No.
Too slow. I not enough Rpm. I think
it just not enough airflow. Yeah. Through. So
not enough Rpm.
But the the annoying part was that I could sit there at idle and or not at idle. A sit there stop.
And rev the engine and it wouldn't cool off what their air conditioning on.
It wouldn't cool down. Okay. I had to
shut off the engine or turn off their air conditioning. Right.
So crawling around with the Ac off. No
problem. Never went over 1 85.
1 85 1 90. But Ac on, it
would get up to 02:30, and then I would shut it off. Like I'm not letting
it climb anymore. Yeah.
So that tells me that since it is behaving a lot differently with the electric fans versus the mechanical fan, that my problem is an airflow problem.
And electric fans are working better crawling but worse on road, mechanical fan works better on road worse while crawling. Okay. So I
need to figure out a a good mix between the 2, either a really high Cfm fans system, electric fan system, or if I have to custom make a shroud to fit the mechanical fan. Right. Because
my engine is not in the stock placement and itself. Yeah.
That's... I think my next move now is
to order a shroud A34 shroud and modify it to fit the location that my fan is at right now. I think
you need to move your condenser behind your radiator. So I talked with Dave Fe about
that. Okay. I was like, Dave, I want
some work done. I wanna redo my whole
radiator support system. And move the condenser behind
the radiator air blah. And he goes,
you can do that, but your Ac will not work as well. Well, yeah. Because now
you got a hot air hitting. You hot
air hitting the condenser.
Yeah. But your engine's is gonna stay cooler.
Then I don't run an Ac then at that point. That's what I do. Exactly.
Right? That's a matter of just pulling all
the Yeah, then I don't have to modify anything. Yeah. Doors off. No. Like, you're set.
I cannot do doors off and because it dumped.
Yeah. We got 1 of those freak summer
thunderstorm that happens on the Rub, and it dumped, like, a fat fat range drops for about 20 minutes. It's yes. I
saw lots of videos. Yeah. And so, I
was welding something in the middle of... It's
that dump. Oh, so did you get wet?
Yes. Oh, so you could had doors on
doors off doesn't a matter does.
Yeah. But the kid and the wife would
have got wet too, and that would not have been good for the trip that would not.
Well, you only need the front doors off, kid would have been dry. That's true. Kid
the wife sat in the back seat. So
Yeah. Get out have the front doors off.
But anyways, so anyway, that's the overheating and the next step. Is to create a modify
A34 shroud to fit my application, and we'll see how that does. I wonder
if you can just create more space between the condenser and the radiator.
I don't know. Maybe so it pulls in
air between the 2, the fan does? Yeah. Maybe.
So trying to pull air through, but also between.
So you're pulling... Yep.
Cold air through both or pulling more cold air through the radiator. Yeah. And it probably
wouldn't... You know, you might be able to
just It's probably not as easy, But it sounds like you might be able to just put, like, some sort of spacers behind the radiator so that you can push the radiator closer to your fan.
Yeah. That might be an option too. You'd
have to. There would be some adjustments on,
like, the hoses and whatnot. But thank It
it wouldn't be as simple as that. There
would be a little bit more work. Yeah.
But they're... And I don't know if it
would hit your air intake or how that works on your rig, but no. I'd be clear they intake. Yeah. There
might...
I wonder if you could just, like, get a 1 inch spacer and just... And longer
bolts. Right? It just push the radiator back
and have a bigger gap in there. Maybe,
that is a thing. I've also wonder so
my, my power steering cooler. I was taking
a really close look at everything to see, get start getting an idea of how to re cut out all the radio supports and rebuild everything so that the credentials behind everything or split it up produce with it.
And my power steering cooler has 0 airflow through it? Sure.
It's is it just the bar that goes across the radiator 8? No. It's it's like
a transmission cooler? Okay. But it's all the
fins are gum up with dirt oil. Yeah.
Yeah. So there's no airflow going through the
power steering cooler granted. That's only...
A fourth of the condenser space and 1 tenth of the radiator space, square space, square footage square, whatever it is.
So I wonder... Are you thinking, like, maybe...
I mean, pull all 3 of them out and clean them all out and straighten some fans and maybe you get better airflow overall. So I'm
wondering if, like, with the stock air conditioning for A30 vehicle, a 4 runner, Tacoma, whatever those were in.
Didn't have overheating issues.
No. So I'm wondering if my condenser is
clogged or doing some issue where the condenser...
I don't know. The condenser is having problems,
maybe having the the power steering cooler in front 2 because I have the ram and it's... I'm doing a lot more
work with the steering when I'm off road.
Is loading things up more as well. You
did drive it around for a while without the win on it. The Yes. And where...
Did you still have overheating issues then?
I did, but they weren't as bad?
Yeah. Which tells me airflow. Right? Yeah.
I think I think airflow is your your main Mh. Problem.
Now whether you...
Create more air or space or flow or maybe new condenser you know, that allows more flow. Mh.
I... You just gotta get more airflow. Yeah.
1 way or no. That's kinda what I'm
thinking too. And I think that my
my...
Cfm rated electric fan that I had on there.
A, I think 2500 just isn't enough Cfm at crawling, crawling to get through. Yeah.
The mechanical fans on idle pull, like, 6500 Cfm.
And then just goes up from there as you're increasing Rpm. Right?
So I either... I, I've been told Spa a
spell. Fans,
and Donnie led me on to Sp fans.
And I started doing some research on them.
It seems like all the ultra 4 cars, race cars, trophy trucks. They're all running spell
fans. Okay. And there's probably a pretty good
Cfm reason why? Yes.
They are expensive, like, 500 dollars per fan.
Wow.
But if I wanna go the electric fan method, spa is probably gonna be my next option if the custom shroud doesn't work for the mechanical fan. Gotcha. So if anybody from
spa is listening to this podcast. Oh, we
can feel free to reach out. If you
can solve Tyler's problems, you're gonna there's definitely be a good shout out for you. There's
probably some air hubs and compressors and host for you well tire repair kits.
Anyways, there's Yeah. So it's a... It's... It... I
think I'm I'm heading down that road of changed road of chasing airflow rather than sensors and airflow in the back of the engine being an issue and and heat from the crossover.
I I really do after swapping out to the mechanical financing, the differences between how that impacts things. I really do think it's just
down to airflow. Right. So... And so you
really have 2 options for airflow. Right? Mh.
Whether you're gonna be able to have a fan that pulls the air through. Mh. Or...
You open up that area so that it's just easier for air to get through. Yeah.
The thing is with rock crawling, is we don't go fast. No. Right? We
we are driving slow. Mh. There is not
a lot of air airflow because of from our movements going through the radiator. Yeah. So we kind of have to
pull the air through to keep it. Yeah.
That way. So, yeah. So I think you're
going down a good rabbit. I do think
there might be something in regards to improvement for...
Maybe cleaning up what's in front of there.
Mh. You know, like, you might... I don't.
Yeah. I wanna move the power steering cooler.
I wanna get AAA new power steering cooler.
Yeah. Because the 1 that's in there, I'm
pretty sure is like, a stock Oem thing that's just super old. Yeah. I think
there's better materials now.
And and I I wouldn't have... I'd be
able to clear it out and clean it so it gets airflow rather than having to try and to dissolve all the oil and dirt that's in there.
So new power steering cooler debating on a new condenser, and getting modifying a shroud to my fan location right now.
That's the order of Ops. Yep. To some
extent. Yeah.
Okay. I like it. Cool.
So that's the update on 400 overheating. Yes.
What about 4 and color. 4 runner color
is amazing. It's so
right. It's amazing.
Crazy love it.
So, this was a design. I've I've had
in my head for a very long time.
Okay. I don't remember where it was when
it was, but I saw a jeep with a blue digital digital cam designed wrap on it. Gotcha. Now I was
like, I really like the way that looks, but it would look better if it was neon green. Of course it would. Yeah.
And so I don't know That was 2 or 3 years ago.
And then this idea came in head of, I wanna wrap the fore runner. At some
point, I don't know when.
I was like, I wanna do it, but it's also 1 of those things that's, like, it's completely unnecessary. Yeah. There's... It's totally...
But it has no functionality.
And I'm a huge functionality kind of thing guy.
And I was like, I've just been putting it off putting it off, and, the business has been doing better, and we're drawing... The 4 runner draws a lot
of heads from people that know.
That are familiar with Axles.
Yes.
And so and suspension. And suspension. So it's
mainly like, the Rock crawl notice it Right?
Overland is look at it and they're, like, I mean, that's cool to look at, but that. Yeah. Why do you need so large.
Yeah. Yeah.
And so I'm like, let's... Finally get to
the point where we can take the fore runner and and have it out at events and have it be a real the head turner out of vents, at an attention grab, for whoever's is looking at it. Okay.
And so I have been talking to and reaching out to a different... A few different
rap companies, And once I send them images of the fore runner, I get ghost.
Okay. Because of the dents, I think because
of the dent. They're just like, we're not
gonna deal with that.
Okay. They didn't want the business. The business
wasn't wasn't worth it to them. Right?
And I found a guy that's... Did our
enclosed trailer. They just put logos on the
enclosed trailer for more flight.
And so I sent them picture the 4 runner and tell them what I wanted to do and he gave me at what I thought was an astounding price to do it.
I'm like, you should be charging me almost double what you're doing. So I took it to
him.
He kinda took the design that I'd worked with Brian Murphy on. Okay. So I told
Brian Murphy my hair brain id. And I
was, I want it to be obnoxious.
And digital green cam. So he put some
renders together, and I took those renders gave him to the rap guy. He
finalized and cleaned up the renders and did a couple of minute changes on the logo wing, how it was just things were oriented.
And I was like, that looks amazing. Let's
do it. And so I dropped it off
last of Monday, picked it up Friday.
Before going out on Rub, Saturday morning.
And I absolutely love the way it turned out. It's
It's rad. It reminds me of minecraft.
Yeah. That's what a lot of people are
saying, oh like, I've never played minecraft. Too
many videos of it, but... Yeah. But it
the... It's block and it's green, so it's
minecraft. Yeah. So... But it looks it looks
great, I would never do it. Mh. But it's...
I 100 percent see how it's right up your alley. Yes.
It's bright. It's obnoxious. It will turn heads.
It definitely, you know, it now it makes the fore runner stand out even more. Yeah.
Which is insane because at some point, you're, like, can you make it turn more heads Yeah. How do
you do that? Mh. But... Yeah. It's definitely
more flake. Which is pretty rad. And it's
right on par with that. So it's it...
You know, you're gonna put the 4 runner in boots and it's gonna be fantastic, drop for you. Yep. Yeah.
It was fun being out on the trail with it because everybody that I went by stopped and just stared at it as I drove by. Yes.
Everybody.
So was fun. Well, there's to some extent
it's a fantastic billboard. Right? I mean, now
you've got a rig that you can go almost anywhere in, and it's right and people will read it. Mh. Or
Yep. Yeah. It's a lot of fun. So
I put pictures of it out on Instagram on the 4 by 4 Toyota Tyler page.
So if you guys wanna see it.
Check it out. It is very impressive and
it looks awesome. I'm very, very happy with
it.
So that's the other big change with the fore.
And then the trip and the kid, the kid did awesome. Right. I'm going through the
Rub con, You know, Granted, we didn't go through a little s when he go a big loose any of the Loose boxes. Sure.
Winter gatekeeper, which isn't it... It's that that's it's bumpy. It's
getting pretty dug out right now. Sure. The
And, there's a couple fun little ledge on the Went Spring side. And so we did
a couple of those and whale bones.
Did went down whale bones with him, But he's rear seating rear facing, so he just kind of laid back in his chair. Yeah.
Let me get at Roller coasters in the future. Yeah.
He did awesome. I mean, anytime we were
moving, he was pretty much a asleep. Sure.
So it they did awesome no complaints there.
It did get really hot. But in the
vehicle because I couldn't run the air conditioning most of the time because it would overheat.
And so that was a bummer, and he would just get really sweaty in the car seat and then wake up cranky, I think because of it. And then,
the big problem is when we weren't moving in he would start their tantrum when we weren't moving. So anytime, we were
stopped, and I could tell we're gonna be stopped for a while.
We just got out and walked around the car with him. Oh, sure. That kind of
thing. Okay. Then had to put him back
in. So it was it and then we
we stopped for lunch, and we had to feed him at the same time that everybody was like, alright, We're taken off.
And so I was like, well, we're gonna hang out here with Hu for a while at Ellis, because Husband's torque converter went out on him Like yeah I heard.
That's a a the bane of his existence.
That's his overheating problem right now. Right. Right?
Is his torque converter, super frustrating for him, and So... But he got to make a camping
trip out of it and hung out of Ellis and got to see people all weekend long, and so we hung out there with him for a while while we're were feeding the kid and the rest of the club left, and I which I'm glad we did because we went down to the creek and, like, dipped him in the Creek real quick, and, we kinda rinsed off in the Creek for a bit. Sure hung out in the shade under
the under the bridge and the the, umbrella.
No. We didn't use Husband's umbrella. Was out
though and then hung out for a little bit longer, and then finally, took off and we caught up to everybody at whale bones.
Oh, that's not far at all. No. Yeah. We
we were... They left 45 minutes ahead of
us. Oh, man. 30 minutes. And 30 to
45, and then we caught up to my oil bonds. Yeah.
So there was group.
We had a... The Mad Hat had a
group of 13 people. Wow.
And There's just a couple people were new to going down whale bones and whale bones, you have to hug har far passenger as you go down.
Otherwise, you don't make the turn at the bottom. Yeah.
And if you don't have gears to reverse out of the turn up. Boil
bones, you're kind of stuck, you there's not a whole lot of options other than win your front end sideways.
Yeah. Or win to have somebody win you
backwards.
And so there was a few people that did that in our group, and so it created a big traffic jam at the top of whale bones, and those was other groups.
They're waiting to come through as well. And
So, yeah. The the well bones of the
traffic jam there. Dang.
But kid did awesome, it was hot.
And we got to hang out with Hu for a while.
And, as we're coming through gatekeeper, there was a broken lexus.
Really? Gatekeeper.
Wheel back rear passenger wheel was off, and it was up on a jack stand.
The axle was and so... But it didn't
look like a hub was broken The third member wasn't out. So Was like, yeah,
what is what's happening? What's happening here? What's
broken? All the hub studs were there and
I was like, I don't know what's going on. So finally, some dude
came walking back up to the rig as I was going past a driving past it.
And I said hey, what's wrong man? What's
going on? Goes, oh, that we broke the
bolt off of my shock.
So it's like a s where it goes into a shock mount, a str mount. Okay. And
goes through and then you put a nut on the backside to hold the shock in there. Yeah. And my first thought was
You don't need shocks. Yeah. To run the
Rub gun. You have a spring in there
still Like you're good. But second, I was
like, well, what what broke? Like, did you
snap the stud or what and he goes, it broke off of the at the bottom right where the the bolt stud comes out of the shock? Okay. Now
I was like, well, do what do do what do you need to fix it? Do
you need a bolt? Do you need another
stud replacement s? Do you need a welder
to well back up the thing? He goes,
yeah. If we had a welder, that would
make everything pretty smooth. And Was like, why
Got 1? I said, bring the shock down
to the clearing below gatekeeper.
And, I'll meet you guys down there, and we'll weld it back together. Yeah.
So the guys come down, and it was a group, and there was another... He was
with 2 or 3 other rigs.
So they all came down, and 1 of the guys recognized me. Oh,
so I don't know. I've I know I've
told this story on the podcast. Okay. I
don't... Remember if you were on the trip
or not.
It was a Mad Hat trip, and we were at the top of whale bones waiting to come down, and there was a third gen 4 runner, I think coming up, and he was turning around and when he backed up, his drain plug fell out of his rear diff.
Emptied his rear diff on the top of whale bones? Yes. I was there. That was
the guy. Oh,
he wasn't the guy broken, but he was the guy that recognized me. So we had
a good laugh over that story. Okay.
And as I I dude, that's funny running back into you out here and So I welded them back up in the rain. Yeah. It was dumping on us.
And, apparently, they continue down the trail. They're like, well,
cool. We're well did. We're gonna continue on
down the trail see if we can make it to...
I, I think they were their goal is to try and make it to buck. Or
little s and then camp out for the night and then come back out on Sunday. Sure. And
I was, like, you guys shouldn't continue anywhere. You guys should just camp here
and there's a great spot here at Gatekeeper to camp at and head back out Sunday.
I a good camping trip for the weekend.
Like, husband's having to do. Yeah.
No, they wanted to continue. Yeah.
So on, I believe Sunday, or was it Saturday evening, but they found Hu.
Okay. Hop near Ellis. Yeah.
And Hu had to weld on them.
Because my weld failed. Oh, no.
Yeah.
I wasn't... So here's the the the nice
thing about Hu and having Hu along and Hu doing your welding for you. He actually
asked questions about how what is this repair need to do to withstand in order to be repaired? Right?
I never asked that. Right. I, they just
gave me 2 parts and said these need to be walled to get up together. And
I was, okay.
Done. Done.
And so in mind, I didn't do a full weld all the way around it. I kinda
did, like, a couple of tack weld around it. Sure. Because I I didn't know how
they were gonna be assembling everything back together.
I was like, okay. Here it's attached. Yeah.
Like, cool. Thank you so much. I was
like, oh, okay. Here you go. Sure.
Apparently, that was not enough because the the cap, I just thought they were trying to make a bolt to go in from the top side then screw into the the strat. Yeah.
They needed the piece that I welded to the stud to thread into the shock.
And then the stud goes through your body, your shock mount in the chassis, and a nut goes on it to hold it together.
Right?
So all your stress is right where I welded did, Mh which I I thought that wasn't gonna be the case. I didn't think all the stress was
gonna be right where welded based on I was thinking. Sure.
And so my weld failed. And a hu,
they found him, Founded them, and he pulled out his carnage and his grinder and cleaned everything up and welded did everything properly and figured out how everything was gonna be working and chased to the threads for them, Oh and everything. So I was like, that's why
husband's is a a much better option to have repair stuff on trail for people because He'd actually asked questions to figure out what's gonna need to be. How this repair is gonna
be used. Well, and some small extent, Hu
wasn't in any bit of a rush.
Yeah. Right. So he was he was hanging
out at, Ellis.
Until his ride came. Yeah. Sure. So he
was like, I'm here to help and... Do
whatever you guys need and Yeah. I'll take
as much time as needed to make sure it's right. Yep. And I had... I was
granted, I was in the middle of a rains, but really my bigger concern was the wife was not happy that I was stopping to help people? Yeah.
And because she doesn't like when I do that on the trail, and I'm like, sorry, I'm gonna do it. You'd. You to deal
it. You got... It has to be done
out on the trail. Yeah.
So here for each other. Yeah. That's what
it comes down to. Yep.
So anyways, that was a that was a fun coincidence and hu message messaged to me at the end of the day. He goes he goes, hey.
I got to check out your weld?
And I was like, oh, did you run into those guys? He
goes, yeah. And I was, how did you
stop did they camp at Ellis with you.
What? He goes, no, your weld broken. I
got to for parent out target.
And So that was funny.
That was pretty much it. Other than that
it was just a lot of traffic. I
mean, sitting at Ellis, there was a ton of people going by while we were having lunch.
And it was just it was a busy, busy, busy weekend on the trail because it was the, like, the 1 weekend in July where the public can go on the trial already much.
Yeah. So because of all the Gym breeze.
Yeah. It's It was pretty wild. I'd just...
Yeah. It just kept hearing stories of... Can
how many people are out there. Yep. It
made me go. Thank you. Yep. That I'm
not out there. Yeah. This is why I
don't do weekend trips during the summer on the Rub. Yes.
30 be.
So a fun times fun weekend. I'm really
happy. The kid has now been on 4
dice and Rub.
Before 5 months old? Yeah. That's crazy.
I mean, granted at what going down to the first river crossing on Ford says, can you really say you were on boys? Yes.
Absolutely. On fortnite. You got to get to
the first river crossing and you're on the trail. I guess So you didn't do the
trail. No. He was on the trail. He
was on the trail. And then also Rub
con, You know, you just did the Went Springs loop. Were you really dude doing the
Rub kind.
But he was on the trail. Yeah. So
he was out there having it... It enjoyed
the time.
We went back to Ice house resort for our picnic. Yeah. And, hung out, you know,
put a blanket down and let the kid out, and he was just he was talking to everybody. Cool. He was just making all
sorts of fun noises and, He's getting to the point where he's figuring out he has a voice. Yes. And so
he's making a lot of sq noises and giggling at stuff. And
so that's fun.
To watch him now interacting with other people and realizing that, Hey, I can... There's there's
there's a difference between different things out there. Alright.
Absolutely. Yeah. I had a very similar experience
with the mini assistant in that because at some point. I was talking to a gentleman
in the elevator about his camera. Okay. And
I was just just shooting the shit with the guy. Right? And after the fact the
mini is goes, You can just talk to anybody. And now it's like, yes. Yeah. Yes.
You can. Yeah. Like, you can talk to
everybody. Some people might not talk back to
you. Yeah. Some people might choose to be
rude or bitter or mean. Mh.
But you can talk to anybody. Yeah. And
most people are open and willing to talk back to you. Yeah. Like, it's... There's nothing
you should be embarrassed about. Mh. Like, if
you can find something common with somebody else.
Mh. That is an opening, and you can
talk about something with somebody. Like, you might
talk, oh, cool cro.
Yeah. I have... You know, I've got a
1 up Mario, whatever they call those things on for my cro. Yeah. Yeah.
My... Yeah. Mine has the... Those hacks or.
You know, I've got all these accessories wrote open, and you can just go off on a conversation on whatever. You know, It's like,
if you can find common ground and you have something to talk about. Mh. Then you
could talk about that with... For people with
them, you know, for a long time. Yep.
So it was kind of a... I think
she was kinda going, like, having this weird awakening on that aspect as well Like, yeah.
You know, it's it's not to... It's not that great to
be shy. Like, what's the point of being
shy over. This, You know, it's like, you
can...
If people are nice, then, you know, if I'm nice, then people should be nice. Yeah.
And you could talk, You know, But this grand to my bubble, Jimmy. Yeah. You can... Then
you don't answer. Okay. Good. That's stay of
my bubble. Somebody might ask you a question
about your win on your cro and be like, don't talk to me. I want my
bubble.
Yeah.
Oh, funny. But it's worn, and it's got
a real small synthetic line, and it's got this cool factor 55 hook on the front, but don't talk to me. Yeah.
That's funny.
So... Yeah, Fun weekend, it sounds like we've
both had some really fun adventures yeah past week.
This weekend is Jeep Jam, I might not be going now. Oh, no. Yeah.
Because of the hurricanes in Houston, the the factory owner is not gonna be able to come out now. Okay. So I've... I now get to
make the decision of, do I wanna go there?
And, hang out for the weekend and go down to the springs, which I think is a yes, but I'm also a little bit behind on work, right now. Sure. I need to figure
out if I if I can use that time to catch up on work or if I wanna go play. Yeah. So... Yeah. I'm
really hoping all this plane...
Drama is over soon because I fly out on Saturday. Yeah. Right? And, I'm hoping I
can make it to Ireland, so we'll see how that goes.
I did wanna talk real quick about, I met up with All Corey. La Corey turned
his rig, his brand new tundra.
Into the dealership because there was just some weird warranty recalls on it. Okay. And,
he got a 20 20 for Tacoma as a rental. Oh,
nice Know I got to he came over.
I got to draw up a first draft version of the tailgate panel. So that's pretty
cool. So I absolutely
I got that. I was talking to a
gentleman on Instagram about meeting up sometime. So
I will need to red draft that, and then, hopefully, after I get back from Ireland, I can meet up with him, and then I'll soon have a 20 24 to tacoma version out? Nice. But I got
to drive it. Also He let me take
it for a spin. Okay.
It's nice. Yeah. I'll be... Yeah. It's it's
very nice to drive I did not notice too much of a difference, on the engine, even though it's a 4 cylinder. Mh.
It still is quite heavy turbo 4 cylinder??
Or is it the the I don't know where the line gets drawn.
But I... It was a Trd off road.
So I'm pretty sure it was a twin turbo. It should be the twin turbo, 4
cylinder. I I was trying to figure out
if it was between the 4 cylinder or the hybrid? No. It was not the hybrid.
Okay. Gotcha. It was the... I pretty sure
it was the Twin turbo. I don't know
if they make a single turbo version, but I do know they make a naturally asp 1. 0, it's like the S sr 5.
0, okay. Right. I thought it was just
the 2 engine options, the twin turbo or the hybrid. Pretty
sure they have a non turbo version. Okay.
So this 1 was the twin turbo. Mh.
And it's quite happy. I drove it around
in normal mode and then we moved it to sport mode and, like, It gets up and moves.
I don't know if it's faster than my truck. U.
It it's different because it's the automatic versus the manual where there's less drop... Like, I
feel like my first gear is quicker, but it's, like, second gear is faster. You know,
like, there's the the... My...
When I hit my rev limit, and I have to shift, I get that loss of power and it just kept going. Okay. So
I... It's kind of an interesting argument. But
I feel that Drag race. I wanted hear tacoma.
The a 20 24 tacoma, and the f 03:50. Yeah The f 03:50
kill us.
Yeah. But it was nice. I mean, it
didn't have all the bells and whistles inside, but this... Like, the dash was very cool,
lit up. Similar. It reminded me of the...
Bro, like, it had Mh designs and d and showed pictures of the truck and doing different things. Mh.
The screen wasn't The big screen, it was the smaller screen, but it was still a nice touch touchscreen. 1 thing that it did
have, auxiliary buttons. Yeah. The Yep. Super cool. Maturity
off road again. I did not know that
they had that. I think they have auxiliary
1, 2 and 3. So you could plumb
in like, rock lights. Mh. And you can set it
up for auxiliary 1 or you can set up, you know, ditch lights on auxiliary too or You know, maybe something functional that I...
My mind is escaping me. My my 1
complaint with the auxiliary switches is that they didn't do more of them, Yeah Yes. 4
does 6 of them. Okay. And Jeep does...
I think they do a few of them now. 655
or 6.
And if Tacoma and Toyota is trying to go off to the overland to market.
Yeah. They should
put 3 switches in, like, come on guys. Yeah. And but.
But I do like that they're... They move.
I'd really like the way they set up the dashes in... The new
generations of vehicles. I haven't seen inside in
20 24 Tacoma yet, but I really like the dash setups in the tundra, the and the a Sequoia. Yeah. Yeah. And did
both of those have the large screen. Mh.
So this 1 was a little different. It
was almost it was very similar to mine.
Okay. But it had...
But it was updated. Okay. But the layout was similar. Okay.
It also had a really kinda interesting feature because it had the... I think it has
the rigid fog lights. Mh. And it had
a a tilt.
Feature. Oh, for the fog lights for the
fog lights. What? So It had, like, a
1 through 5, And you could put it at 1 and they would tilt down and you put it on 5, and they'd almost become headlights. Interesting.
Yeah. So I don't know where that falls
legally, because I think fog lights are are not allowed to be pointing straight out.
I don't think so. But, yeah, I could
be wrong with that. Dave can let me
know. And
but, yeah, that was it... It was an
interesting thing. He was like, what's this? And
he, like rolls it. And and we see
the light sc and, like, elevate up I'm like, oh my gosh. That's crazy.
So that was pretty cool. It was fun
to drive very sporty still forth and cylinder those turbos, you can hear them wine, especially in the sport mode that just every... I
think the biggest... 1 of the bigger differences
is the pedal through command, like, 4 feature when you change it from Eco normal to sport. Yeah. Like, I pushed down on the
pedal from, in normal mode, and it it gets going, but you hit it when you start pushing the pedal down in sport mode, it just starts going faster. Right? So it's
1 of those throttle controller Yep. Senses.
It's just changing the way that everything's working.
That changes that changes your shift points as well Transmissions. Mh. So, yeah. There's a few different
things. But it was fun. It was it
was nice to get behind 1, and I was super... He messaged me He's like, you
know what I'm driving right now. I'm, like,
your tundra. Yeah. You? And he's like, I'm
driving a brand new to tacoma. I'm, like,
Where are you? Yeah. I, get over to
my house right now.
And thankfully, airplane fights screwed up his evening plans. He
supposed to pick up somebody and take them out.
Business wise and he's, like, they're not able to leave and my evening free, and I was like, I will take you out to dinner get over to my house. Yeah. Nice.
That's cool. Yeah.
So that was fun.
Nice. Well, sweet. I'm glad that the, hey,
we got an update on a 20 24 Tacoma finally. Yeah. And you gonna have a
panel out, sit soon. Yeah. It'll be a
little bit because vacation. But... Yeah.
Well, cool man.

And without my friends, Keep crawling.
I got 1 for you. K?
Why didn't the banana enjoy the playground?
Because he kept slipping and falling Pla. I don't know why.
Because he was scared of the monkey bars.
They might eat him. They might Yeah.
The monkeys would destroy the banana. Yeah. That's
true. Those bars are pretty evil. Yeah.
They probably have, like, banana da.
At far at the monkey sounds tasty actually.
I could go for a banana decker right now.
It's for... It's that's 11. All I'll time.
We're good. Thank you.
