Welcome, everyone! Welcome all to the SnellTrail 4x4 Podcast. If you like going off-roading in

fun at Toyota's, and of course, hearing about how fantastic plans for Toyota's are, then
this is the podcast for you. That's right, ladies and gents. My name is Tyler, and joining me for
another episode of the SnellTrail 4x4 Podcast, Juby Jutt! Over here. How you doing, man?
Good. Thank you. How are you? I'm doing pretty good, man. Nice. Yeah. I'm feeling a lot
better. One of my major stressors has been... I was like, were you sick again? No, I actually was.
We'll get into that a little bit, though, when we talk about the weekend. But one of my major
stressors is in a much better spot right now. Yeah, yeah. We'll talk about that a little later.
We'll dive into it a little bit later there. So I'm feeling better today. Good. Yeah. Glad to hear.
Yeah. Me too. Fun project in the background that you and me and CJ have all been working on.
I know. I figured there might be some... Maybe at the very end of the episode,
we can talk a little bit about it, because it doesn't have anything to do with off-roading,
but it's very nerdy. Kind of does. A little. I mean, it kind of does in the way I'm using it,
I guess. Yeah. It's work-related. Yes. Yeah. But it's very nerdy, very... To me and Tyler
and CJ with the CJ, very interesting. But when we were talking about it with Jason,
his eyes like glassed over. He glassed over and was checking his emails and text messages,
and every once in a while, he would kind of look up and be like,
you guys are still talking about this? Okay. I'm going back.
But we're super stoked with what it's doing. Yeah. Yeah. We'll might dive into that a little bit
later or it'll show up on the other podcast. One or the other. Yes. That could be.
I might do a full episode on it over there. Let's see. I don't know where we're beginning.
This is Thursday. Thursday. It is Thursday. It's Thursday, April. Let's see. Six, seven,
eight, ninth. There's two calendars up there. It's Thursday, April 9th. So nice to see
everybody out there on this lovely Thursday. We're going to go over kind of some things
that Jimmy and I have been up to. I didn't get a whole lot done with vehicle stuff
this weekend because I got sick and, but we'll get into that. But I do have some plans for
vehicles. Okay. So we can get everybody updated there on my end. Yeah. It was Easter weekend
too. That's true. There was some things going on that we were all up to family stuff that
was happening. So we did, we have some Easter updates to talk about. And I have a little
bit of Samantha to talk about. Yeah. And then some camping updates. And then, but before
we get to any of that, we have a giveaway. We have a giveaway for the Light Ranger 500.
This one here. Yep. Before we get to that though, this one, this one actually, this is
not the one you guys are getting. Yeah. We're going to get to hang this in the studio
and have a red light district episodes. So we'll do that in the future for you
guys. The red light district at this hour is not as nice. It is. At the later hours. Well,
this is the retired hour for, it's like when a safe way or Costco opens up an hour early
for the older people. Yeah. So these are the cheap seats. The Batonay red light district.
Yeah. Yeah. I can answer that question. I know. I've been to Amsterdam once or
twice. Twice. Yeah. Anyways, before we get to the giveaway and everything, let's talk
about the group buy. Okay. Yeah. I think that's a good way to get into that. So we
reached out to DeVos and talk to Colin, our good buddy over there that's a kind of
in charge of their marketing stuff. And he was all for the group buy. And so the
way that we're going to set it up is kind of an incentive basis. Obviously, they
want to make a lot of sales, right? And we want to make a nice purchase discount
for everybody. So the way it's structured so that everybody wins is the more sales
that we can get confirmed and set up the bigger the discount we get for
everybody. So the way it's going to work is if we get 10 people saying they
want a DeVos light ranger 500, we will get 15% off for everybody's orders. If we
get 20 people, we will get 20% off. If we get 30 people or more, it'll be 25% off.
So these guys, they retail at, what was it? 70 bucks? Like $70. So you're
looking at 10 bucks off. So $60. If we get 10 people, 20% would be $14. So
$56 for 500. If we get 20 people and 25% would be... Shall I do the math for you?
Yeah. I got a calculator. I'm guessing it's going to be $18, $19 off. So about
51, $50. 52. $52. So those are the kind of the price points that we'll be
getting these at depending on how many people sign up to do the group buy. And
so what we're going to do is we're going to give it till the end of the month. We
realize that people are a little bit behind on episodes and almost nobody stays
current up to that day of that episode. So we're going to give it to the end of
the month. That's the end of April here. April, so that's April, what? 30
second is when that ends. Sounds good. According to the calendar. So once April
ends, we'll take all the emails that we have for the group buy and submit an
order to DeVos. And then we'll figure out if DeVos will ship these all out to
everybody. I think they will. Yeah, I believe so. And then that'll make it
super streamlined, super easy, super simple. And then we'll create a payment
URL. Everybody pays us. What we'll figure out. I don't know if DeVos is
going to want to collect the money themselves, or if they want us to
collect the money and then pay them all in one chunk. We'll figure out
that detail. But what we need right now is we need the commitment on how
many people want in on this group buy. Pretty rad little light, especially for
only $52 if we get 30 or more people. And I bet it's 30 or more purchases,
right? Or 30 more items, 30 more items, because I want to, right?
Exactly. There's two right there already. What is that? A fifth of the
way to 10. So, and I don't know, Tyler said he wanted one like per rig as
well. I might be buying one for every employee at Morphly too. Right.
So, so we're probably going to hit 10 right there. Yeah. So if you guys

And I guess we can move into. We also started the Discord channel.
And we've now started a sign up thread on the Discord channel. We're going
to put something under announcements. And then we started a group buys tab as
well. So you can write there and we can DM you to find out your email
address or you can write it down if you want to just make it public out
there for the snail trail group at least. And then Tyler and I are
actually trying to use Discord a little bit more so that we've now
created some of the backend stuff. And we're going to keep track of
everything in Discord, which is going to be pretty cool. You guys
can't see the backend channels only Jimmy and I can only Jimmy and I
can see our back ends. So the red light area. Exactly. Red light
district. Yeah. So so yeah, we'll have we'll kind of everything is up
on Discord. We'll get into that a little bit more than a little bit
here. So yeah, we need your email and then how many units you
think you may want. Yeah. That way we can get an idea of how
quickly we can get into the different discount tiers and
confirm the discount price for everybody. So if we end up
getting like 60 or 70 units to sell for them, we might be able
to get an even bigger discount than 25% off. So let us know if

email and then buy a once we get all that together that
will close April 30th. We'll take all that information to
Divos and see what the final discount is for everybody and how
payment will work. So we'll keep announcing that throughout the

now. Yeah, sounds good. Since we're here talking about it.
Yeah, I don't know. Like I'm familiar with Discord. I've
been you I've been on it for a few years, but I never
really ever use it. Okay. Yeah, I there was a few of us like
Clinton from dirt garage, RM, shoot, RM garage. And then
there's a few other like Toyota based YouTubers that we all
started a Discord. So we can just talk about YouTube and
podcast or YouTube and thumbnails and how to edit
videos and what's popping right now and stuff. And that
sort of it was really popular for a hot second and then it
died out. And then I didn't really use Discord since then.
Okay. So I really enjoy all of the features that I've been
learning about it. And I'm really I really like the chat
rooms and how easy it is and all the like and all the
features there is I spent a good chunk of time and
watched a few YouTube videos because I set the Discord up.
Yeah. So I learned a lot about like permissions and
what how to allow things and how to set things up so
that only admins or mods can view it and how to organize
like the layout and all that. I was thoroughly impressed
with the setup that they have. Yeah, they've done a really
good job at making a feature rich communication software
for groups that are looking to communicate with each
other about a specific topic or ideas or whatever it is.
So yeah, it's up and running. We did kind of a soft roll
out and told a few people what the invite code was and
should be down in the show notes for you guys. So it is now
everything seems to be running really well. We've been
getting some fun conversations already in a few different
chat room areas. So yeah, everybody more than welcome
please come over to the Discord, join it and have some
fun. So yeah, it's still semi soft roll out because
we're only telling people that listen to the podcast.
Correct. Yeah. Right. If you listen to the podcast, you're
hearing that we have a Discord channel and you know, the link
is in the show notes. We're not taught. We're not sharing
this on social media or Facebook or anything yet. It's
only podcast based. So it's only true listeners of the
podcast. And for the most part, only people that are
truly caught up because we've only announced it for the
last week or so. Yep. So when it's working out really
well so far. There's a chat there where we kind of
requested, you know, if anybody has ideas for different
other ways to segment. And one thing that came out of it
was people want to hear more about off road events
going on around the country, whether that's something
that Jimmy and I are hosting like a camping off roading
snow trip to Uncle Tom's or whether that's different
events going on in that area like cruise Moab major
events that listeners can do listener meetups at. So
cruise Moab has a little chat thread now. And yeah, it's so
it's very easy to evolve the Discord channel, the
structure and what you guys want to see and get out of it
and what we want to see and get out of it. So if you
have any ideas, ways to integrate different things,
let us know and we'll make it happen.
Absolutely. Yeah, it's a lot of fun. Some good chats
already over there about grilled cheese and about yeah,
the events going on and yeah, the listeners rig so you
can show off your rig, which is going to which is pretty
neat. I guess I said, I think I said I need to get a photo
of the family now and put it up. Yep. So yeah, a lot a lot
of fun out over there. A pretty easy way to get in
contact with us directly. It seems like Tyler and I
watch that more than we're on Facebook. Yeah, but I would
say I'm on Instagram more than I'm on Discord. I'm not sure
about you, but about the same. Yeah. So it's probably
like it's number two or three way from to get in contact
with me. But it's probably up right up there at the top for
you. So it's it's just pretty it's just a neat
alternative way that we're trying to just build a
community. Facebook didn't really take off the way that
we thought it would. It didn't. We weren't also engaged in it
as much. And so it didn't didn't grow as what we thought.
Yeah. But I think they I think the discord is a great
alternative. Yeah. Yeah. Cool. So that's there. The tokens
and the URL to the public on X file where the treasure hunt
tokens are is listed there on the discord as well. So you
can go and get that. Did we are we putting the public URL in

was like, is one hitting on top of the world? And I said, there

they've never been found and I'm okay with you hiding another
one if you want because I'm not even sure if they're still
there. Yeah, we do make the tokens out of wood intentionally
so that they do decompose over time. Yeah, if never found
or if never found that way, we're not leaving trash out if
they're not found, right? Like the one in King Creek, the
one in King Creek might have washed away. It could have been
washed away. I tried to hide it high enough. I hid it at
something that was about chest height. Okay. For me. Okay, it's
about knee height for me. Yeah. And the river might have gotten
up that high at some point might have washed it away. So I
just am, you know, it might be gone. And that's the reason
we make it out of wood just in case we don't want to be
littering. You know, it's just a piece of wood that
I'll buy out a great. Yep. And that token will be gone. Yep.
So, um, yeah, they're out there. They've never been found
according to our records, but they also may not be there. So

So speaking of games. Okay. And I want to talk more about
this off air with you, but I have a small game idea for
Trail Hero X. Okay. So I'll just plug that now. Okay. So the
listeners can kind of get an idea. But essentially, it's you
and I are going to create a drinking game. Okay. And then
when the users watch or the listeners and viewers watch Trail
Hero X, there's rules of how to watch Trail Hero X. Okay.
And what happens? Okay. And then when we then if we know
what the rules are prior, we can intentionally do things in the
show during the show. Yeah. To force people to drink. Okay.
That'd be kind of watching the show. And then it would also
depend on the production company as to yeah, if they put it
into the show when they put it in, we might have to like put it
as like something we're wearing that day or if somebody sees
us like touch our nose or I don't know whatever. Yeah, I
mean, it could be yeah, we'll we'll come up with some
rules or something. Yeah, you know, but it would be like
maybe we get lost, you know, it's like when we could
purposefully get lost. And you know, we can go, oh, I don't
know where we're going. What are we doing? You know, it says
go left right, you know, it's like the entire time while
we're lost, you have to be like sipping your drink or
something. I don't know. But so we're going to come up
with a set of rules for Trail Hero X. Yeah. And when and
if you have ideas for this, feel free to write in on the
discord and we can we can keep a tally of everything. But we
won't really announce what the rules are until the show
starts to get to released. Maybe we'll release something

matter of days after the order was placed and the expected
ship date is like April 25th or something like that. So it's
way late in the month. So if it's April 25th, we're not
gonna be able to get them out really by the end of the
month. So okay. We'll go over gift boxes then maybe Monday's
episode, maybe that'd be a good time for it actually. It
might. Yeah. So and we'll yeah, we'll talk about it. We'll
figure out a good, good plan of attack because like we talked
about in a previous episode, I don't want to give the
spoiler away of the other two items. You already know
you're getting a shirt, but you don't know what it looks
like. And so we'll figure out something. We'll talk about

Welcome back, ladies and germs. To Thursday's episode. This
is kind of like what we've been up to. Jimmy and I tend
to get ourselves into some shenanigans. We lead some
interesting lives according to you guys, I guess I don't
know. And you guys enjoy learning and listening to what
we've been up to and the mistakes that we make so that you
can do as we say, not as we do kind of thing. And yeah, I
don't know. Well, you guys keep listening. So I guess we'll
keep this format and we'll keep talking about what we get
ourselves into here. I had, I got knocked out for Saturday.
So I didn't really didn't do anything. My original plan
was to get some loose ends work maintenance stuff done on
Kermit. Yeah, because Kermit will be out at cruise Moab with MF
for Sean. Oh, okay. Yeah. Nice. So I didn't get any of that
done. Okay. So I did get a new battery for the vanquish RC
car. I have was the RTR 10 Yokohama Edition H 10 Yokohama
Edition. So what happened to be Reynolds will let us know. He
will. What happened was I killed the battery in the car. How did
you do that? Essentially those the lithium batteries that come
with RC cars do not have BMSs. It's just the lithium
cells. Got it. Right. So if you discharge the lithium battery
so far, just like any battery cell, you will you will kill the
cells. It'll die. The nice thing about having a BMS battery
management system in is that it self protects the cells. So you
can't over discharge them. I wasn't aware of that. Yeah.
Okay. And so with an RC car, if you're driving an RC car
and all of a sudden it just stops. And then you kind of
let off the power and then repull the trigger to get it to go
again. That means the battery is dying. It's losing the voltage
and it doesn't the motor doesn't have it is not receiving enough
voltage to continue anymore. And that's the battery telling
you, yo, I am I'm done. Don't keep using me. Yes, sure. I
didn't do that. No, you just kept driving and I killed the
battery cells. So I got a new battery and the battery I got did
not have the correct terminals for the vanquish car. Oh, even
though I got the exact same battery. Interesting. So I got I was
like lots annoying. So I cut the terminals off of my vanquish
car and put on power poles and some power poles and then cut
the terminal off of my battery and put into some power
poles. That's right. So now I have something that I use on
everything. Right. And so I did that got the battery charged and
played around with it. And the kid has started to now like
driving. Sure. But his hand isn't big enough to reach the
trigger fully while holding on to it. So he has to hold on
to the controller and then uses our other hand to operate
the trigger and the steering. Oh, interesting. So he can't do
both at the same time. Yeah. So what usually ends up happening
is I operate one or the other. Right. And he operates the other
one while I'm holding him. Okay. And he just kind of sat there
holding the trigger down and the car just zoomed off. And I
was like, I'm kind of curious the range of the car. Yeah. It
went up into the field and went all the way across the
field and I lost it. Oh man. I was like, Oh, from your
driveway straight out. Yep. Okay. I lost it. And I ended up
having to put him down and then go find the car and and bring it
back. So you couldn't walk with the controller and have it
I was doing that. Eventually that's how I found it. Yeah.
Okay. But yeah, it went up over there. And I was like, I'm
just gonna go let it go. And it went all the way across the
field and into some brush. And I was like, interesting.
Okay. And so I couldn't hear it anymore. Yeah. See it
anymore. And he was still holding the trigger. So finally, I
pulled it away from his little two year old hands. Right. And
we had to go find it. So yeah, I know that or I've heard I
didn't I've never had this experience. But I've seen people
teach their kid to hold the controller on the side when
they're learning to steer. Because then when they turn
the wheel, it's turning the wheel in the direction that you
want to go because it's a little a little harder for
them to conceptualize when the controller is up and down
and you're turning it forward to back and you're trying to
turn the wheels one way or another. True. So yeah, I think
teach them with the controller on the side. That's a really
smart thing. Yeah. Never thought of it. Thank you, sir.
But the nice thing is that he's not afraid of the car
anymore and he wants to go play with the car. So it'll
just adds another thing we can go do to pastime. Yeah. So I
did that sometime last week. It wasn't over the weekend.
But it was a fun thing. I was able to get done.
Saturday, dude, I don't know what happened, but like Friday,
we got in a huge 40 foot high cube container with, which is
here at the warehouse. Yeah. For more flight. And it was
something we've been waiting on that got delayed a month,
which what, which had parts to get host kits off back order
and air hubs in it. Okay. Got it. And so usually when I
have, when we are containers come in, they're palletized. Yeah.
And so by palletizing them, we don't make full use of the
container because it's on pallets. So pallets take up a
little bit of space. You're palletized. So you'd have a
little bit of dead space around the pallets. You need to lift
it up to pull the pallet out. So there's space above. Yeah.
So you're not making a full, complete, efficient use of the
container space. This one we did not palletize. Okay. So
there was 1900 boxes. Wow. In this container. And so we had to
all unload it all by hand. Yeah. And kind of palletize things as
we brought out of the container and everything. So it took
about two and a half hours. And everybody went home sore. And
so Friday afternoon evening, I was like, man, I am just, I
could tell I'm sore. I could tell I got a really good
workout today. But the big thing that started happening was I
started getting a migraine. I was like, I'm prone to migraines. I
kind of live on the edge of constantly being dehydrated for
some reason doesn't seem like how much water I drink, or
electrolytes I have. And so anyways, I was like, I'm just
dehydrated. I definitely sweated in the container. So I was
like, oh, whatever. And then the migraine started turning
into like my eyes feeling like they were going to pop out
of my skull, which usually is more sinus pressure things stuff.
Okay. But it knocked on like Friday night. I was kind of like,
this is just really uncomfortable. I'm just sore all over. And I
took a trying Tylenol ibuprofen and kind of a little bit helped
and alleviated stuff, but not really Saturday. I woke up
and I was on I was I couldn't go vertical. Wow. I was
horizontal all day Saturday. I couldn't keep my eyes open. I
had to keep the room super dark. Like it was it was one of the
worst I've ever felt a migraine wise and then added to my
whole body just eight from moving stuff around out of the
container. So by about four, four 30 p.m. I started feeling
a little bit better. But then the secretary started feeling
really, really bad. Oh, interesting. I was like, I think
this is more than just being sore from the container moving,
right? And so we couldn't tell what it really what it was. The
kid had just a really runny nose all day. So I don't know. I
eventually I took, I think it was 1200 milligrams of ibuprofen.
And all of a sudden everything just started
alleviating. And I was like, okay, something was going on with
my blood capillaries that everything was just really
constricted in my head for whatever reason. And now that
everything is open and I'm getting more blood flow to my
brain and my head and everything in my head. Everything
is alleviating very nicely. So I kind of took over with the
kid. The wife went and laid down in the dark room. And that
was pretty much my whole day Saturday. Yeah, summer. Sunday was
Easter Sunday. Yes. And I did a bunch of yard work. So I went
through and mowed the lawn, edged it, did a bunch of leaf
blowing, trimmed the trees, trim the bushes, blah, blah, blah. And
then we went and did an Easter egg hunt with the kid out in
the field across from my house. Okay. Yeah, where we lost
the car in. And this was the first time he's ever done an
Easter egg hunt. I don't want to say the first time he's ever
done an Easter egg hunt. He's done him at school before. Yeah.
And he went at my house last year, right? Yeah, I think
he was still too young to understand it. And yeah, it's
more of you carrying him around and picking up eggs for
him. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. And the one at school was he
collected all the eggs, but they never opened the eggs to
show the prizes inside. Interesting. So this was, I think
the first time that he got to hunt eggs and then realize
there's actual things inside them for him. And it was
hilarious watching him put that together. Yeah. Because he went
out hunting and he's like, we've always done this thing
where he loves his pacifiers. He goes to bed with like
10 of them in his crib. And in the morning time, they're
kind of like out of the crib and all over the ground and
under the ground. And so we have a pacifier hunt almost
every morning. Sure. And so he's always been good at hunting
for things, hidden things, right? So once he started figuring
out that there were a bunch of eggs, colorful eggs hidden
around the area, he got really into it. It was like looking
in trees, looking under bushes, go at these dots. So it was
fun to watch him get excited over that. And when we got
back into the house from collecting all the eggs, we
started opening up the eggs and he was like, you could
just see the light bulb going on. Oh, there's stuff in these.
Yeah. And so he would get really excited to pull the egg out,
shake it, and then be like, he would do the try to open it
if he couldn't, he'd hand it to us to open it. And then he'd
be like, get all excited about the item or you could tell the
items he wasn't really excited at. Sure. And then not
candy. Not candy. And it's interesting. He's not a big
candy kid. Okay. He doesn't really have a big sweet
tooth. So what was he interested in? Stickers. He loves stickers
right now. Okay. So we loaded up a bunch of them, some of them
with and fruit snacks. Fruit snacks and stickers are his jam
right now. So we loaded, you know, one or two little fruit
snack gummies in each egg kind of thing, a couple eggs with
stickers. And then a couple eggs with he likes taking the
wife's hair ties and putting them on as bracelets and running
around. So we had a couple of those. And I was, I got through
them all, had lunch, he took his nap. And then when he got up,
he started asking if we can go back outside and hunt eggs.
Yeah. And I was like, that's getting hot outside, man. Yeah, I
don't want to go out there and hunt eggs. So we hid like 10
at a time in the front living room. Sure. And he would find
it and get all excited about finding it and then come running
back over to us and we'd go to open it up and he'd go, oh, as
we're opening it every single time. And did you just put the
same stuff back in it? Pretty much. Yeah. Yeah. And then we're
like, we don't want to just keep giving him a bunch of fruit
snacks. So we started putting in like paper clips and just
random shit. Yeah. Right. And you could tell he was really
excited about finding the egg really excited that as we're
opening it to see what the surprise is. And he'd pull out the
paper clip and be like, throw it in the bag and then go find
another one and do it all over again. So it was, it was fun to
see that he was enjoying the process more than what the
surprises were inside. Right. So anyways, that was like the
whole day Sunday. It was just hiding and finding eggs. Nice.
Yeah. So and yard work. And then so I didn't really get
anything done on Kermit that I wanted to get done, which was
that 3D printed switch. Yep. A bezel for the center console that I
got a new bump strikes, a bump stop striker. Okay. From a
rad flow that I need to put on. I need one of those too. Yep.
Oh yeah, that's true. And I know where you can get them.
Yeah. I know which of the part numbers are nice. So that the I
need to drain the clutch system and flush the clutch system. So I
ordered up. I couldn't find my one way bleeders, my brake
bleeders, because I'm pretty sure they're both in the mule for
some reason. So I ordered up two more. It's eight dollars for
two of them. Oh, wow. On Amazon. So I was like, I'm just
going to order up another one. They're really handy to
have around when you need to bleed stuff. So I'll have that.
Let's see. So I have the bezel, the clutch, the bump strike
striker, and then just doing a big nut and bolt check over
everything is really all that Kermit needs. Everything's
running great on him right now. So I did make a very
impulsive purchase though. Oh, really? Instagram knows that I
like fun tools. Yes. And it's very good about showing me fun
tools. Okay. And I'm very good about randomly buying randomly
buying fun tools. Okay. So we have this thing about our trail
toolkits. Yes. We're trying to find ways to use fewer tools
that cover all the bases. Okay. Multi-use tools. Correct. Not
unit askers. Exactly. Not unit askers. And so one of the
things that we discovered was the the gear wrench pass through
wrenches. Yes. Or sockets. You're right. And the nice thing
about the gear wrench pass through sockets is they're a
square splines. So they fit metric and standard. Yes. And
they're pastors. So it's a great fits and six point and
12 point, right? Yeah. And deep and shallow and deep and
shallow. So it fits four different full socket sets all in one
set, which is really awesome. So I've been waiting to find like a
box and thing that's nice to kind of replace box and wrenches.
Okay. And without having to rely on Puerto Rican socket
sets. Sure. Right. Which is the adjustable wrench. Adjustable
wrenches are great, but they don't always hold true to where you
set them. And once you start really torquing on them, that
little jaw will bend, right? According to the tolerance of the
corkscrew in it for the adjustability. Sure. And so those
end up rounding out nuts. If you if you're not very
careful about making sure they're really tight on whatever
you're trying to turn. So I found, I don't say I found Instagram
showed me this really cool super flat. I want to say it's one
sixteenth, maybe one eighth. I think it's one eighth. Wow. One
eighth steel that is comes out into a head that I wanted to
bring them today and I totally forgot to and maybe I should
wait until I have them here to talk about them. But I'm
excited to try them out this weekend. So what I'm doing
my nut and bolt check. It's a fully enclosed. It's not a box
end, but it's designed to go over a nut and then you pull it
down and it will automatically the nut will slot into the
different sized sizes on it for different sized nuts and both
heads. Okay. And so one end encompasses I want to say 19
millimeter, three quarter all the way down to 10 mil. Wow. Or
10 mil or what is that? It's one step lower than three eighths
because three eighths is 11 mil. No, three eighths is 13 mil. I
don't remember. So whatever 10 mil is. So 19 down to 10 mil, it
will do everything in between those in one head of a wrench.
Yeah, that's interesting. And then they have a long and a
short. So you've got longer ones and shorter ones. So it
makes it because it's so thin, you can get it into really
tight spaces like think of in between transfer cases and transfer
case adapter plates. And so and it's it's not adjustable. It's
one solid piece of steel, but the way it's designed makes the
bolt or the nut head slot into the size that it is. So I'm
really interested in trying it out and see if it actually
works as well as Instagram told me it should work. Yeah,
so I'm picturing like a bunch of layers that when you
press the socket and down or the box and down over the nut, it
actually pushes up the layers that aren't being used. Nope. Here
I'll show you. Let me just pull it up on Amazon real quick
because I found it on Amazon. And it's only like it was only
like I want to say 40 bucks for the set of four of these
wrenches. Wow. Here we go. Yeah. So four per four of them
was $12 on discount. Oh, got it. Okay, so it's how do you say
that? Right? I don't know how to describe it. It's elongated. And
so when you it's not you put it so when you put the wrench box
and over the top and the nut, then you pull like towards
yourself, let's say, okay, yeah, and then that will lock
itself into the correct size. Yeah. And then you can turn
from there. Interesting. Yeah. Okay. So I'm curious if these
work out as well as they do, I'll be able to get rid of all the
box and wrenches, at least all the 19 mil through whatever the
size those are, yeah, and just carry two of those things. Right.
My only concern, which I think is this concern I have is
there's not a lot of engagement between of what of the size and
that they slot into that they slot into. Yep. And so like if you
crank your prop, I feel like you're going to strip the tool.
I that's my concern too. Yep. And each of the engagement
points are a very sharp point. Right. So like I don't I
don't know if that's made out of tool steel or what steel alloy it
is made out of. But it needs to be much harder than bolts and
nuts. Yeah. And yeah, in order to not strip them. It also looks
like they are angled, the teeth are angled to grab the corner.
Not the flat sides. Yes. That's what definitely is how their
portrait is being used. Yeah, well, keep us informed. That's
really interesting. An interesting idea, interesting
setup, not ratcheting. They're not ratcheting. They're one solid
chunk of steel. Yeah, but the benefit is it these four tools
cover, you know, I don't even, you know, a handful 20, 25
other tools, something like that. If you're including
standard metric shorts and longs. So yeah, that's a it's
quite an interesting idea. Yeah. So we'll see. We'll see how it
all turns out. I mean, on all these pictures, it looks like
it's grabbing a flat side of the nut and then a tooth grabs a
corner on the other side of the nut or the bolt head. But either
way, I'm really curious to go to see how they work out. Right.
Yeah. So nice. I'll be playing around with that this
weekend when I do the nut and bolt check on Kermit. So I'll
something to report next week. Yeah, sounds good. I am not
going to cruise Moab. Neither am I. Yeah, I ended up getting
selected for jury duty that week. So I have to report in this
Friday. Okay, tomorrow from when this airs. Yeah, to see if
I'm going in or not. And but if I do have to go in, then that's
next week while we're cruise Moab is going on. Right. So I'm
staying home kind of for that, but mainly to make sure
the mule gets up and ready and fixed and good for trial hero
X. Right. So so let's probably don't want to dive too deep into
some things. Some feelings are hurt on both sides, I think.
But for the most part, I'll take a little bit of the lead.
Dmitry ended up waving the white flag. I like how you
worded that and said that he can't get this done in time.
And so you and Ryan went over to Stellar built and picked up the
mule and a bunch of the parts that have been acquired and things
that were scattered around for that project. And you picked it
up, put it on the flatbed and you guys drove it over to
Jason's at O. C. I. O. C. D. I. O. C. D. Innovations. Yep.
Which is where is that? He's like way out in the boonies,
man. He's like, he's like past Yuba city because he lives in
Orville. Okay. So it's about, I would say it's halfway between
Yuba city and Orville. Dang. Okay. Yeah. So he's way out there
for us. It seems like way out there. It's not totally that
far, but so he's going to take the task on. He says he has
the time. He is very intimate with the mule. He's very
intimate. He's essentially the one that originally built it.
Right. Yep. So he knows how, how it was, what it is. He has a
good understanding of everything that's there and
underneath that rig. Yep. He's a great fabricator and he's
gonna, he's gonna do fine. So when you were at Jason's, you
guys kind of hashed out a plan. Yep. How long does Jason
think that this is going to take?
We're not 100% sure. We have all the parts, I think.
Okay. There's just, I think break lines to go from the hard
line to the caliper is all that we need to order. And then maybe
a couple little pieces of hardware here and there, which
that's every, every job, but all the big stuff is there. We
have the lower links. I got those from TMR. They made the
custom lengths for us. And we're awesome about it all. And
they, they're, they're really nice. Cool. I'm really
impressed with the way TMR does those. I checked in with
Brian at four wheel underground. And I was like, God, give me
some aluminum links for the mule man. Let's get this going. And
he goes, I got these two lengths. I was like, oh, yeah, those
are not the lengths I need. So I went to TMR and they were
really cool about everything. Cool guys over there. So let's
see. We've got the lower links. We've got the joints
from metal cloak. We've got the coilovers got rebuilt. So
we're just keeping for now because we're on such a tight
timeline. There was a lot of stuff I wanted to get done to the
mule with this process that we're just not going to be able to
get done. Okay. Like I wanted to raise the ride, the rear ride
height about an inch and a half, two inches. So that once it
was fully loaded down its level. Yes. Because the way it was
sitting was once I was fully trail loaded the rear sagged. So
I wanted to change that, but we already have like six to
seven inches of preload in the springs. Yeah, that's a lot, which
is a lot. So we just need to go to a different spring rate. Not
enough time to figure all that out. So we're just going to set
the mule back to the way it was with the current springs and
everything than the six, seven inches of preload on the
spring. So and bring it back down the like two inches and
bring it back down. We're not going to be doing a lot of big
time rock crawling on trail hero X. So I'm not concerned
about ground clearance. Like I am if we're going to go do the
Rubicon or Fortice. Yes. So we're gonna bring back down to it's
quote unquote normal ride height. Okay. And the other big thing
I found out Jason told me. Yeah, was when he originally built
it, the up the front three link, the upper link and the lower
links are the same length. Yeah, we talked a little bit
about that. So the links are the same length. Yeah. And you
said that if by doing that, when you articulate or the
suspension changes, it
a change of the caster on changes the caster on you
exactly.
And when pinion angle and caster changes on you while you're
driving, you get less stable driving, right? Yes. Not too big
of an issue off road, especially with a high pinion. But on
road, you get dartiness out of the steering, which is what
I've been experiencing and complaining about in the mule,
right? So I think that's what the main cause is. And we've had a
lot of listeners reach out to me saying, dude, your caster is
fucked. Right. There's something going on with the caster on
the mule. And that explains caster changing is with the
links are the same length there. So where I was wanting to
change that upper link length, we're not going to do that
now. Just time. We just need to get it back up and running
as quick as possible here. So we'll just put a essentially new
bracket on. He's going to take a quick look at it and see if
there's a way to easily make a bracket that takes three inches
out of the length. But essentially, I told them, I don't
worry about it. You know, we're on such a time crunch now
that if you need to put the same bracket that was on just
stronger and gusseted, gusseted, then just do it that
way. Yeah. Simplify it and just get this thing up and running.
So fill the cardie shock. Jesus owes me a shock tuning. Okay. So
after we get back from Trail Hero X, I have a whole list of
stuff that I want to need to do to the rig and doing a proper
tuning with the correct spring rates and everything will be
part of that. And I'll be going to see Phil for that. So and
then the upper link will shortening that upper link and
redoing the upper link bracket on the front axle will be
part of that as well. Yep. I do need to, I think, fix the
blinker circuit and get the blinkers working because in order
to bring the rig into California, you have to go through
CHP inspections, which means you need brake lights, headlights,
blinker turn indicators working. So I need to fix that, I
think, before Trail Hero X. Okay. Oh, really? Before we
come back into really come back. Yeah. It'll be on a trailer
though. I don't know the thing. I need to get it
registered. I still haven't swapped the title. Oh, yeah,
because I yeah. Okay. So the smog is done. And so you have 90
days, right? Yeah. From when smog gets submitted to
California to make that title transfer. So the time clock,
that's what's causing I need to get this done, I think
before Trail Hero X. I want to say the 90 days will be
coming very shortly after Trail Hero X. Sure. I need to
move the rear swing out away from the body an inch. Okay.
It's rubbing on the body and rubbing away the paint and rubbing
away the the wrap currently. So Dimitri and Stellar did a great
job making it all work. They just made the tolerance too tight.
And so as you drive around, as you go down trails, whatever it
actually rubs and vibrates on the body and that's rubbing a
hole in the paint and rubbing a hole in the wrap. Yeah. So
it didn't redo that, move it out an inch. Fairly easy to
do. It just takes time. We need to put a bunch of Baja designs
lights on the mule. So that'll be in there. I'm going to take the
Switch Pro out of the mule and put in I have a 12 gang switch
panel that I really want to use and utilize. So the Switch
Pros is great. There's a lot of really cool features. It
just runs on Canbus. And I don't know Canbus. I don't
know how to troubleshoot Canbus. And so and I don't
like how in order to hook everything up to the Switch
Pro, you have to hardwire everything together because the
wires go straight into the Switch Pro, which is solid state. And
so there's no terminals to hook wires onto. Interesting. So
every time you need to redo wiring, you have to cut a
little snippet of wire off of the Switch Pro wire. So if
you end up redoing the wire enough, you run out of wire
to be able to use or you have a bunch of soldered
connections in line to be able to connect into the Switch
Pro wiring. Sounds like the first thing you should do is just
add a foot of length to that wire. Yeah. So I'm going back to
regular one with relays, not Canbus, not solid state. It'll
be relays and fuses and terminals. So you can put
the whatever your wired accessories are directly
under the terminals rather than having to crimp them to
the Switch Pro wires or solder them to the Switch Pro
wires. Okay. And it'll be all wireless too. Nice. So it'll be
kind of cool. So I got to do that. New battery for the mule. I did a
bunch of research over the weekend and I'm leaning towards
doing the Dakota lithium again. Okay. Or going with anti
gravity. Oh, so anti gravity and the only difference that
I'm looking at is anti gravity is about $300 cheaper. But it's
35 amp hours less. It's 100 amp hour versus 135 amp hour. Okay.
And I like that Dakota lithium and I'm like, if I'm spending a
thousand dollars, I mean, 30% it's 30% more for 30% more amp
hours to out of the battery. And I have, I have experience
with the Dakota lithium from Kermits. I love the battery.
It's doing great. So I think I'm going to just bite the
bullet and go with the Dakota lithium, put another one in
the mule. Cool. Okay. So that has to happen before trail
hero X. Right. So but those are readily available. I can order
one up tomorrow and have it here within a couple days. Okay,
great. So yeah, there's a laundry list of stuff that has
to get done on the mule and some things on Kermit before we
hit trail hero X. And yeah, and since Dimitri said he
won't be able to get this done in time, you know, bringing
it to somebody that says they have the time and can hurry up
and do it. And we'll, and we'll make it a priority. It's a big
release of stress for both of us. Yeah, I was assuming I was
going to have to go down to Stellar Bill and start wiring
up lights because there wasn't going to be enough time to get
it done at one location to have it at the second to do
things. But now it sounds like Jason's going to be able to
get everything done in time. Get things back to your
house so that we can do all the extra work that needs to get
done with the switch panel and the lights and PRP seats. Those
are not getting done in time. So a few other things that are on
this list that need to get done for this adventure. Yep. How
about the fridge? The fridge. I'm talking with Isco right
now. They're trying to make some appear for me. Okay, they
were very, very low on stock. Okay, but they're trying to
make some appear. So we'll see if they make it in time.
Nice. The, let's see. Jason is currently going through the
rig disassembling things that need to get disassembled. So the
old links are all being taken off. The joints are being
inspected. Himes are being inspected on the steering. Right.
And he took off the oil pan and because it got crunched a
little bit when the axle rotated underneath the vehicle and
the vehicle came down on the oil pan on the axle. And it
turns out it bent to the pickup. Oh, so we, he's going to
straighten out the pickup and I ordered up a new oil pan. That's
arriving tomorrow. But essentially, he's kind of going
through the vehicle, making sure we have everything we need.
And then me and Ryan are going to go over next week on
Wednesday, Thursday and try and knock out everything and get
it up and running next week, Wednesday, Thursday. Okay, is
the goal. Nice. Yeah. He didn't get to take two days
and it's going to go. I think so. As long as we have
everything, it's, it's a lot of parts, but I mean, it's all
the only thing that needs to get fabbed is that upper link
bracket. And I think with three of us there and especially
with Jason's knowledge on suspensions, it should go very
quickly. Cool. Yeah. All right. Sounds good. So in the
meantime, he's going to build that up a bracket. So that time
you guys show up, it'll be ready for us to do everything
together and go test drive it. Sweet. Yeah. Sounds good.
Yeah, man. So that's, that's updates. Yeah. That's all I got
on my end. What have you been up to me?
Well, let's see. So I worked on Samantha a little bit. We lost
the mini assistant. You lost her? Lost her. Oh my God. To her
father for Easter weekend. And so the assistant and I went
camping. But so let's talk about Samantha. Okay. A little
bit. So I got a new clutch slave, one that had the breather
pointing out the front. And I went to install it. And the whole
location where you mount it to the block or the, I think it's
onto the block is ever so slightly different. But it's
different enough that I could probably drill and tap a hole and
make it work. Tap a new hole, a new hole, okay, into the
block. Okay. Into the block. Yeah. Okay. And into the place
where it mounts. Like there's extra metal there that I could have
I could make another hole and have it solve that problem. But
the biggest issue was that it actually the way that this one
was designed. And I don't know if it's just this was a like
70 to 85 FJ 40 clutch slave again. And I was just looking
for ones that popped out the front, right? Had the breather
pointing out the front of it. The biggest issue is that
actually was the base of it is larger. So it is actually
pushing the whole clutch slave further away from the block,
which I'm like, okay, but I could just sign down or grind
down the mounting point, pull it in. But it still did not line up
with the clutch arm. And so all the things that I was like, I
could drill this new hole, I could sand it to bring it
closer. Because it was still I think it actually was popping
out further the body of it was popping out further than the one
I have stock. So I was like, I could adjust this I can fix it,
but it just didn't line up very well with the arm. And so all
that was off. So we actually then husband and I started
looking at after that, we started looking at the one the
stock one and seeing if we could literally cut off the
breather and move it to like turn it to another position
and welded it back in place. And we think we had a we pretty
much came up with a good idea on how to do that. But then we're
like, okay, well, let's just leave the breath. Let's let's
take the extra inch about an inch and a half that I could
get up. Let's take the clutch slave off. Let's pretend that
it's, you know, we have that extra space. And then let's
start articulating it setting up the bump stops and
everything. So I was talking to Brian. Brian actually gave me
a call perfect timing like a day before we were meeting. And he
said what the way that he normally sets it up is that he
puts the vehicles, the axle at full compression on both
sides. Like if you were to hit a bump, going high speed, you
set that. So you set up full compression on both sides. And
then that's where he sets the bump stop. Okay, right? At
when the bump stops fully compressed, right? So full
compression, you're doing that. But then he leaves two ish
inches, two plus inch inches on the shock shaft. Okay, when it's
in that position, a big sense. So that when it will be bottomed
out on the bump, but it can still use the bump to articulate
around and articulate the one side, the high side will be
compressing up more and it will compress into that shock. Okay,
so we set the bump cans and everything we took some of the
nitrogen out, or the air out of two cans fully compressed
set it all up, tacked it, I tacked it to a frame brace plate,
and then I was able to clamp the frame, brace plate to the
frame, and that held everything into place. And then put the
can in, set it up at full bump, and then set the bump stop in
and everything and then tacked all that together. And then
we started articulating it. And I think where we're at, I
think, really, what needs to happen is I need to put the shocks
on now to see how far down I'm going to get or how far up because
I can now start playing with the position of the shock at the
top of the shock to see how where it's going to sit, you
know, if if I'm at full compression, and I have two
inches of shock shaft showing that more or less tells me
where the top of the shock is going to be. Yeah. So now
it's a question of how much droop am I going to get?
Yep. And I think I'm going to be slightly limited on droop. And
that's going to deter change where I'm going to mount how high I'm
going to mount those shocks. Okay. And that's going to change
how where the bump stops it. Yep. And that's going to limit
how much up travel I get, which is still now saying I
actually don't need a new clutch slave. So all these
things kind of are leading back to I don't need to change
that. Okay. So right now we're we're not doing anything with
the clutch slave. And I'm at the point where I need to start
mounting the shocks to actually articulate things to see how it
goes because I might not when I start having issues with things
getting really close. I might be out of my to too far
drift than what shocks I have available. Okay. So I'm I need to
mount the shock so I could actually start cycling and start
setting that up. So that's the project this week is to really
try to mount that upper shock or figure out a way to do that. I
need to go get tabs and try to do that. But both husband and I
have a short window that we can work on this Thursday. So I'm
not sure how far we're going to get. Okay. So but that's the
point we're at we put the bump stops on and really what I
need to do is start mounting the the front shocks. Also on the
flip side on the back, we're at the point where I can start
mounting the bump stops and the shocks as well. I also could put
the third member in and start measuring once I figure out the
shocks movements and everything there I can start measuring
for the drive shaft to be made. Yep. And then for the most
part I can start fully assembling the rear axle.
Okay. And but I don't want to do it too much before I do
the articulation because it's just going to get heavier. Yeah.
And so I want to I want to be able to man handle that thing. So I
don't want to put all the brakes and every all the axle shafts
and third member and everything in yet make sense. Yep. So yeah,
so that's that's where we're at. We also talked about building
sort of the rear bumper so that I can cut another cross
member out. So the rear bumper will allow me it'll act as
another cross member. Okay. And then because it'll be
fully welded in and everything. And then I can cut a cross
member out that's behind the rear axle. So then I can start
thinking about how to mount the gas tank. Okay. And everything
else. So there's, there's a whole bunch of stuff that needs
to get done. I'm always focused on the front three link
because it's sort of the most complicated. But you know, if
I could find more time to be in the shop, there's a whole
bunch of stuff that I need to get done with. So yeah, so
that's sort of the Samantha update. It's coming along probably
next week. I'll be putting shocks on it. I don't think I'll get
to it in this time. So okay. Yeah, let's see. So besides that, I
wanted to talk about Harvest host for a second. Okay. Harvest
host is an interesting website. I talked about it a while
ago and I think I forgot what the name is the camping
thing. It is a camping thing. So we went we were gonna go
camping this weekend. We're gonna since we didn't have the
mini assistant, we were gonna go out wine tasting because we
were running low in wine in our wine fridge. And we had
pickups that needed to happen. And one of the wineries that
were a member of Shadow Ranch was doing an Easter day event.
Okay. And so we're like, perfect. It's all sort of
aligning. Yeah. So we've been waiting to sign up for
Harvest host because you sign up. It's like $85 for a
year. Okay. And it starts when you sign up. Okay.
Right. And so we're like, well, no need to sign up if we're
not going camping. Yeah. So it's a really cool program. I don't
know all the rules and regulations or anything. But more
or less, there's like, I don't know, there's thousands of
places across the country that are wineries, KOAs, camp
grounds, or like random, like places of business that chart
that you can go camping at. So like the past few years, we've
gone up and we've just found, we used, oh man, what's the name
of the other company that we used? HIPCamp. HIPCamp. We've
used HIPCamp. And we went camping last November at another
winery and it cost $80 to camp at their winery. And this
costs $85 for the year. Yeah. And all your camping is free.
Oh, that's nice. Okay. One time fee. And then everywhere
you go, depending on the tier, you can pay more for more
accessibility of options. But everything that we're sort of
interested in is $85. And then all your camping that you do
for that year under this program is free. That's pretty cool.
Yeah. Super neat. So we were like two camping times and it's
paid for itself. So we're like, this is awesome. So the
assistant went to go register. And unfortunately, we do not meet
the qualifications. Interesting. Yeah, what are the
qualifications? The qualifications are you need a
gray water tank. Okay. And you need an enclosed kitchen. Yeah.
Okay. And so if you're tent camping, you can't do it. You
just, you, I guess you don't count. Yeah, I don't, this is
primarily, I think, for RVs and campers, camp trailers of
some sort. Interesting. Yeah. So we're kind of bummed about
that. What if you put up, we thought about putting up an
awning. Like an awning of be on sides with walls and walls
around it. But we still don't have a gray water tank. But it
wouldn't be hard for us to add a gray water tank if that
would all count. But the way our teardrop trailer works is
you open the back hatch and there's the kitchen and
you're standing outside. And so it would be a gray area,
right? Yeah, we pulled that off. And normally what we do is we
put a little like one or two gallon bucket underneath the
trailer to collect whatever water goes down the sink. And then
we go find a bush and dump that water into the bush or
whatever. We just don't let it go all throughout the ground.
So yeah, we're kind of bummed about that. But I still
wanted to share. Harvest host, thank you. Because it's a
interesting idea. And if you have a trailer, this is a great
way for you to get around or a lance or a lance, a lance would
totally count. Or something like that. An RV, a lance, you
know, a trailer of some sort. This is a great option for you.
And a lot of places are on there that you wouldn't
realize are there. Yeah, which is kind of neat. And
up where in the fair play or amateur area, they're all
over the place. Almost all the wineries allow you to go camping
at their location to check that out then. Because I mean, with
the lance, it makes perfect sense. Oh, yeah. And we could just
go and hang out on a winery and go camping and do wine tasting
everything too. Okay. Yeah, I'm in. I'm interested. Yeah, it's
really cool. And it's a I mean, it's a great alternative
cheaper route. And you get to camp at some cool spots.
Could you go if you were with us? I don't think so.
Really? I mean, I think, I don't know. I think yo, we'd
have to count for two spots, but okay. Yeah, I don't I don't
know. All right. I thought about inviting you guys up with
us this trip, but we were like, Oh, it's Easter. They're
doing probably things and stuff, but it would be cool to
do a little Easter egg hunt out at a winery though.
They did an Easter egg hunt at the wineries we spent the
night at. Yeah. Yeah. So the night before so the mini
assistant on midday or Friday went with her dad. Okay.
Friday night, we did a double date with my brother and his
wife and my are us. And we went out to Minescape, which is a
brewery slash kombucha spot. Okay. And they make hard
ciders and kombucha ciders and they make some fantastic
pickles because they're all into fermentation and stuff
like that. So we had a few snacks. We drank a little
bit. We had a I had a flight. And then I had a beer of
some, um, a bloody beer, which was pretty good. Okay. As tomato
juice and stuff in it. Gotcha. Yeah. And, um, instead of a
bloody Mary, it was a bloody beer. Okay. And then we went
back to our house and, um, we had some whiskey the next
morning. Um, we were had us, we were supposed to, you know,
wake up and go take a lazy morning and we were going
to head up to go up to the wineries and I was so hung
over. I don't know. I must not have ate very well
that day or dinner didn't get passed through me too quick
or whatever. Or I drank a ton of whiskey. I don't know what
it was, but I was down. I was not feeling good. Um, I was
getting those like cold sweats to the burning up sensation. I
stayed in bed until like noon. I don't know. Like I was, I
was in bad shape, but I had to rally because the
assistant was feeling good and she wanted to go wine
tasting and we needed to get the trailer prepped and do
all this stuff. And then she doesn't know how to drive
with the trailer yet, but that's going to be solved
because if I'm feeling sick again, she's going to have to
drive. Yep. So, um, and, uh, so I drove up there. We went
to a Polynesian girl. I had like half of a sip of
wine and just was like, I can't do this. I'm not
feeling great. Um, but the owner's husband of Polynesian
girl, I think he works for like Jopper Nick, the
car, like review company. Jalopnik. Jalopnik. Yeah. Okay. And
he's, so we were talking cars and fancy cars and he was
saying he got one out to the Sonoma Raceway the other
day and they did, we're doing a Porsche like GT3 race and
he was like jumping in with people and showing his
photos of cars he's reviewed. And I was like, dude, this
is rad. Um, and I was like, I like cars, but I
like trucks better. Um, and so we, uh, but we talked
about like you can still talk shop, you know, with
anybody that's a gearhead. So, uh, we had a good time
chatting with him a little bit, sort of woke me up,
sort of got me out of the funk. Maybe it was a little
bit of wine started getting me things going again. Um, and
then we went to Perry Creek. Okay. Perry Creek's one
stop below, um, Wind Walk, Wind Waker, Walker, whatever
it is. Yeah. Um, and we spent the night at Perry
Creek. They, theirs was a great deal. It was $50
camping. It includes firewood for the fire pit and a
free tasting of wine. Oh, sweet. Yeah. So I think we
found our spot. Okay. Like that was a pretty
fantastic little deal. Um, that we had there. Perry
Creek's interesting. They, uh, went under new
management and then the management like couldn't
pay the bills. And now the original owner's family
bought the winery back or something funny and
they're sort of have to change the name. They're
changing it to like Zen man. Okay. Um, because the guy
that bought the rights for everything, it was not
willing to release the rights for everything once
they bought it back or something funky like that.
So, uh, there, yeah, so they're having to change
the name, but it was a great spot. It was a
beautiful camping situation. Um, big grassy field,
fire pit, um, personal garbage, personal picnic
table. Uh, they would give you connections if you
need it, but we're like, we don't need any
connections. Um, it was rad. It was a, uh, there
was another couple that was camping there too. Um,
in the sort of like a super small RV, but bigger
than a Sprinter van. Okay. Um, and then they
signed up for this like, I don't know what you
would want to call it. I want to, I'm going
to call it the screaming tank, but it was
something else. Uh-huh. They had a very nice
name for it, but more or less, they have
these two humongous stainless steel drunt
like tanks that are too big for any wine
facility in that sort of area. And they use
them as like this meditation, um, like slash, I
don't know, like or a centering thing and you
go inside the tank and you do hums or screams
or noise of some sort. And supposedly, um,
stainless vibrates the exact frequency that
you release. Interesting. And so whatever
you put out there, it's bouncing right back
at you. And it's sort of supposedly
centering in your body of hearing your
own self talk or your own self make a
noise or whatever. I don't know all that
stuff, but it was very odd. I'm glad they
told us that somebody was doing this
because while we're at camp, we heard
somebody screaming. That's a good heads
up. We know what's going on because
this would be very weird to hear somebody
screaming. Um, and then after the fact, um,
that evening, what they, the couple came
down and we talked them for a little bit
and they're like, we signed up for the
hot tub and we're like, okay, cool. I
didn't, I didn't know that was an option.
So Perry Creek has a great camping
spot. Their wine is good. And they
have all these like add ons that you
can do where they pulled out like a
huge wine, a great bin and they fill
it with a bunch of hot water and then
they put like seats and stuff on the
inside of it. And then they said
they wrapped it with sheets. So it
was totally enclosed. You're in there
by yourself. Um, and then they had
like a bell or something that if you
needed some help or whatever they
would contact, you can contact them.
And then they just pulled at this
huge bin and filled it up with hot
water. And now you have this hot
tub. Okay. So they were, they said
that was a great experience and they
really enjoyed that. And they would
do that again if they came out in
this area. They were a cool couple
that apparently they had a trailer
sort of similar to ours, a little
bigger. And they said they, in the
last few years, they went out and in
took trips a hundred times in that
little trailer. Wow. Over the last
few years. They and they run
ultra marathons and so they go
places, crazy people, camp a bunch
and then go run a race and then
go back home and do their job. So
yeah, crazy, crazy life. But cool.
They were really nice. They were
like, we're not the type of people
that like are into your chi or
your contra contra contra, whatever
you're like, you know, body centering
stuff. But that was a very
interesting and fun experience.
And I was like, okay, cool. All
right. So that was neat.
Slept great that night. The weather
was perfect. Fire was great. Put
off some good heat. We were both
pretty tired from being slightly, I
was hungover. She was slightly hung
over. So we went to bed at like
nine. A little after dark, you
know, had a lazy morning after we
woke up. The family came back and
they did an Easter egg hunt for
their kids and everything on the
property. And we went and tried to
do a hike, but kind of got stopped
in every direction we went. We
had, there's like a the
Cosumnes River is right up in that
area. And so we're like, well, let's
go down to the Cosumnes River.
There's a big parking area there.
So we started to walk up river and
is almost as soon as we left the
car practically, there was a huge
no trespassing, private property
do not come up here. Cops will
be called blah, blah, blah. So we're
like, okay, let's go downstream. And
we walked downstream, maybe 100
yards in there was a, it didn't say
no trespassing, but it said no
mining. Like this is a private
mining, gold mining claim. You're
not allowed to do that. My any
mining down there. So we walked
down and got to the end of the
trail. And it ended like down at
the river and we're like, okay, I
guess that's it. Okay. So then we
hiked up and there was actually an
off-road road that shot out and we
saw it like, well, we're only at
like 0.8 miles. You know, let's
hike up this road. And so we hiked
up the road a few hundred yards
and then there was a no trespassing
sign again. And we're like, okay, we
got back to the car and it was like
a 1.2 mile hike, but it was
still something. So then we ended
up going to Shadow Ranch. We did
a wine tasting there. They had a
grilled cheese event, which was
fantastic. The assistant got some
like jalapeno, strawberry, jelly,
grilled cheese with basil and stuff
inside of it. And I got their
ham and cheese grilled cheese, which
was all of them. You could just
tell that they threw a lot of
butter on the bread before they
made the grilled cheese. Yeah, that
just is the sign of perfection.
That's like, yes, chef's kiss or
whatever. So good. Also, they had
some Cadbury eggs because it was
Easter, small, little milk
chocolate ones. And they were
pairing those with some of the
wines. So that was pretty fun. We
ended up going out to go to
Plain Air. Okay. But they were
closed. We're like, oh, which was
really big of a bummer. It would
have been nice if there was a
sign for their out, or maybe
there was and we didn't see it,
but I drove all the way into the
gate and then the gate was
closed. And I was like, oh, I
had to reverse the trailer all
the way back out to the road,
which isn't too hard. But at
first, I was like, here's a
driveway and I started to back
into the driveway. And I was
like, oh, I don't think that
driveway is deep enough for me to
get the truck and trailer for me
to turn around. So I had to pull
back forward to realign the
trailer again and back continue
all the way out. But we ended
up going down into, I don't
know if it's Murphy's Plymouth,
maybe it's Plymouth. Plymouth
would be more. Yeah. So I think
we went down to Plymouth and
there's a winery called like
and and this and this. Okay.
It has a brand new tasting room
really big. I've been there
before, but it's like sort of
posh, you know, and we're kind
of like, we've been there. We're
not into, we don't want to go
there necessarily again. But and
we were going to go to Amador
Sellers. They were closed. Then
we tried rainquests. They were
closed. But across, so we
passed this and this place.
And on the other side, there
was another winery call started
with a C. It was open. And
we're like, well, we've
already been there. We
haven't been there. Let's go
there. Okay. So we pulled in
there and we walked into the
tasting room and the ladies
were like looking at their
watch. And it was like 330.
Right? Okay. And we're like,
are you guys closing soon?
Because it's a holiday and
they're like, we're closing at
four. And I was like, can we
just stand at the bar and do
a quick taste? And they're
like, totally. We're like,
okay, cool. And it was an
Italian spot. They had a
bunch of San Giovese
different types of San
Gioveses from a white
San Giovese, which I've
never really even seen. So
they don't, I knew this, but
I was kind of like asking the
lady behind the counter. I'm
like, well, how do you do the
white version of this? And
they're like, well, we just
don't put it at the skins in.
I was like, yeah, okay, it is
that simple. And so it's
sort of a process where they
have to pull them the mushy
part of the grape out and
not and separate that from the
skin. And then they make
the wine with the mushy
parts skin separated and they
get a white version.
Was it called San Gio Blanco?
Yes, I believe so. Okay. So
that's the place that's in
Murphy's. They have a tasting
room in Murphy's. Okay. And
they're right above the spice
shop spice tin and spice tin.
Yeah. So that's one of my
favorite wines is San Gio Blanco
from that place. I forget the
name of the winery, but I've
only ever found one place that
does a white San Gio. Yeah,
it's called San Gio Blanco.
I want to say it's Contattis,
but it's not. That's not it.
But it's something like that.
They kept saying, oh, our
Qianti, our Qianti, Qianti, and
I kept looking at their list
and they didn't have a Qianti.
And so when we went to settle
at the end, I ended up
getting two San Gio Vasis.
One of them was like their
like really high end one,
which was fantastic.
There also is like, they
were talking about how it's
the process that they go through
to make that one. It can be
aged a really long time.
And so when it came home,
I put 20, 30 on the bottle
and we put it away.
So that's not a really long
time for wine, but it's one
that I want to age to see
what it will do.
But when I checked out, I was
like, I want a Qianti.
And they're like, oh, we only
give those to club members.
Like what? Like why are you
teasing me like this?
So we got onto their mailing
list because we really like
their wines.
And so we're going to end up
probably going back at one of
the events or something.
And we'll just see if we like
it again.
And maybe we'll sign up down
there for another winery.
So yeah, that was pretty
much my weekend
in a nutshell.
It was good. We got the
assistant back.
Whenever we get the assistant
back, she's always on like
way too much sugar or
whatever. So it takes a long
time to come back to
reality.
I think it's one of those
like when you were with
weekend dad.
Yeah, there's no rules.
And then when you come back
to reality
and having responsibilities,
it's always a hard thing to
change your mindset.
So
we always had to prepare ourselves
for that. But the assistant
and many assistant didn't have
school on Monday.
So she was with her dad
through Monday.
And we got her back.
And then.
Yeah, Monday was pretty low
key just because everybody
around me had the day off.
And I kind of took the day
off as well.
And I spent a lot of time
playing with AI.
OK, yeah.
Is that why you were just now?
I was like the name of that
tasting room. It's Boyle
MacDonald.
That does Sandra Blanco.
That wasn't where I was at.
OK. Yeah.
It was a different one.
So do we want to dive
a little into AI?
No, I don't think on this
episode that we can hold off.
Yeah. Sure.
I'll just we'll just say that
CJ has got us now on the
cloud code.
Yeah. And the cloud code is
a really interesting platform.
And we have been
really diving deep into this AI
stuff.
And it's
it can't like it's
amazing. It's eyeopening what
the world of AI
can actually do for a business.
Yeah.
And especially multiple businesses.
Yes.
So absolutely.
Because I'm in a way, I'm
running three businesses.
Right. Because I have Snail
Trail four by four, the podcast,
the YouTube channel, things that
primarily podcast now
and the blog and stuff like that.
I'm running Snail Armour, right?
The tailgate panels.
And I occasionally
have a graphic design gig,
which is technically I still have
another business or I still run
that business. I think that
business has been in.
I started in like twenty
twenty.
No, excuse me, like two thousand
two.
So I mean, it's like a twenty
something year old business.
Yeah.
But I only like, I think I made
six hundred dollars on the business
last year. Yeah.
But it's really interesting
to see what AI can start doing for
multiple businesses and how
you can sort of create entities
and ideas that work for
multiple businesses.
It's pretty wild.
Yeah, it's pretty crazy. I mean,
I've got more flight,
my offer to radio,
the podcast, the work on
the podcast.
I've got NorCal four by four
rescue.
I've got my rental unit.
Yeah.
And there was one or two other
things in there. I haven't even
dove into personal
side of personal stuff, too, is I
haven't put my personal stuff in
there yet either. But I would
love to get to the point where I
could literally. So my
we're diving in a little bit.
But yeah, my
head person, persona,
I named him Alfred.
OK, like the batman.
Yep.
I want to get to the point where I
can literally hit the mic button and
go, hey, Alfred.
Like, make a note of this or like
start looking into this or let's
let's do the X, Y or Z.
Yep.
And I think once I get to that
point, because I would love to dump
of just a bit, like go on a walk
around my neighborhood and just
verbal dump into him.
Yeah. And he had to sort
out my life in a way.
Yep. I think that'd be it could
be really interesting right now,
too. And that's kind of what I'm
getting to as well.
The nice thing about using Claude
is that there's native APIs.
Claude knows how to use APIs for
stuff.
And so you can you can hook Claude
into Microsoft Office.
You can hook it into one year one
drive, your teams, your email, your
outlook, your Google or anything
that has an API access.
Yep.
Claude can hook into and once it
can hook into it, then it can
then, according to the permissions,
you give it run,
do things as if it was a human
being.
Yep. So
think of it the way I'm
envisioning it right now in the
end, once everything is set up,
and it's taking time to set it
up. Oh yeah.
Because it's it has to be
custom made to what
you need it for.
Yep.
But I'm envisioning it a lot
like
Friday or
Tony Stark, Iron Man's
A.I. bought
a virtual assistant thing.
Yeah, I don't know.
The latest one is Friday because
the original one got turned into
one of the Avengers.
So
but yeah, that's kind of how I'm
envisioning it all
essentially eventually working.
Yeah. Because you can
you can hook it up to multiple
devices and have Claude all
run off a server back
at home, but access it via
your cell phone or whatever
other devices you're on.
So yeah, it's super neat.
We we literally could do a
whole episode on all the crazy
stuff we've been doing.
Multiple episodes and maybe we'll
do it on the other podcast.
But we'll have to rope CJ
and because he was the one that
really got us started.
He's the sort of the brainchild
of a lot of this and we're
semi following in his footsteps
maybe got like venturing
out on our own trails now.
But it's it's
this world is becoming
very interesting and I do see
how I could eventually take
over a 1000 percent.
It's scary for sure.
