No, random boring fact about one half of the podcast. I did make it through my entire enlistment in the Marine Corps. I'll be at only four years active duty.
I never drank a single beer and I never drank a single cup of coffee.
Two liquids that actually lubricate the United States Marine Corps and I never partook in either one.
I think you need to somehow prove that we need witness testimony corroborating your story. The coffee part, I can believe the beer part knowing your friends from back then.
I am kind of I would be surprised because they drink everything else.
Yeah, yeah, I'm not saying I haven't you know partaken in an alcoholic drink, but I've never had a beer. I can't stand the smell and I just assume I wouldn't like the taste so I just said no to it.
I feel a negative comment coming.
Because there are a lot of beer. I'm not a beer guy either.
But just not my thing.
I in my old age and my friends are drinking a lot of bourbon and things like that. They want me to try these beers and things.
You know, I'll give it old college fried and I was like, this is disgusting. Why do y'all spend so much money on this?

There have been two beers that I've tried that taste decent because they were good, but they taste more like wine than beer.
So I don't know if that really says anything.
While we're continuing on that confession streak, several many years ago, more than 12 less than 20 years ago, my urologist, because I have regular kidney stones, told me that it would be best if I drink like a prescribed amount of red wine.
Every night would help with the kidney stones.
Oh, and I said, OK, so I bought a bottle and I said, I'm going to do this.
And so every night for however many nights are in a single bottle of red wine at, you know, four ounces, I don't know, half a cup, whatever it was I measured out and drank.
I have had that much red wine in my life, that one bottle over the course of, you know, however many nights are in a bottle at that measurement, but that's it.
That's the only wine I've ever had in my entire life.
I don't like the smell.
It smells like the bottom of a trash can.
I just don't like the smell of fermented things.
So I just don't drink it.
I mean, if it's an acquired taste and you have to go out of your way to acquire it, probably just better off not acquiring it.
See, you you have a you have a moral sense or or you're more disciplined than most.
I guess that's the best way.
Maybe use more discipline.
I think I'm probably just more particular and more stubborn.

And so as long as we've known each other, you've been more the driver guy.
I appreciate fast cars.
I appreciate cars that handle well and not kicking things out of bed for it being an exceptional performance car.
But the number one thing that I the first thing I fell in love with with cars was features.

No custom customizable.
Yeah, but you but you've always been a feature guy, whether it's features you add or features that come in the car.
You you've always cared more about the features of a vehicle.
It's it's or as Doug would call them there.
It's quirks.

Whether I added it or it came with it, there were things that I wanted the cars that I drove to have, right?

And to give everybody an example.
Back in the day, I guess it was late 90s.
I bought a 1991 mercury tracer from another Marine.

So it would the car was blue and it had a black it had a black hood on it.
And it had a very large dent in the door.

And then they wrote in the car and because we were in the late 90s early 2000s, I put a CD in of whatever song there was listening to.
And then it was like, oh, this car is stupid loud.
I was like, yep, it is.
It's stupid loud.
There's more there's more money in the car in the cardio in this car than in the car.
I think I paid $700 for that car.

And then we proceeded to remove the entire interior in the parking lot of or in the grass in front of in front of your house at TT.

I mean, I was telling I was reminding somebody the other week that yeah, he has needed help with some cardio stuff in his truck.
And I came out of the house and I was helping him out.
And I was like, yeah, man, I remember doing this for, you know, for extra money.

But anyway, that car was a $700 car with like $3,000 worth of car with audio upgrades in it.
And because it was different from everybody else's stuff, it didn't stand out.
I was fine with it.
I was completely fine with it.
And before, before you ask, we, we removed all the interior.
And, and Donna matted the whole inside of the car before putting stuff in it because Stanley wanted it to be loud.
But and to make a reference from that same time period, he did not want it to sound like two midgets wrestling in the trunk.

But yeah, so I mean, that's been the thing through me is having a pick up platform chassis and doing something to it where it looks like an everyday car or it doesn't stand out.
But I know a special.
And so over my car life of buying cars, I've always wanted to do certain things in cars to whatever car was whatever vehicle was and just probably for financial reasons or just time reasons.
I was never able to do it.
So I've always had this thing in my head.
I'm going to go back about all the one of the car that I had and do the things that I want to it and then sell it and just keep going.

And try to get as far back as I want it to.
So is so is all of this your way of telling me that you have bought a Toyota inter-sale or a Mercury tracer?

And I'm at a stage of life where I can pretty much do that.
Dependent on the car.
And so I think that's really what I'm looking for.

Like you remember when you were looking for when you look for them for sure.
And you were telling me the salesman is like, I'm not I'm not I'm not shopping for a car shopping for a transmission.
That's exactly right.
And I think that's a perfectly acceptable thing.
Like I think that is the key to the midlife crisis is to take the time to evaluate what what it's exactly are you scratching.
Is it is a you won't just scratch the edge of to your point the experience of doing the things to a car that you want to do.
And dude, I'm telling you right now, like the the the performance out of an audio system that you can get for the dollar spent compared to when we were young is nuts.

If you find an old car, the it's easy to replace and add to and it's not like a ridiculous screen in it that you can't work with.

And my four cylinder golf R closure years, if you're like a V8 beerist, my four cylinder golf R light years faster, like minutes faster over the span of a road that's essentially the length of a lap of the Nurburgring.

So in that 14 to 15 miles stretch span.
I'm talking minutes of difference.
That's how significant the technology makes the car faster.
So it's not about speed.

And I think that's where my midlife crisis lives at the moment is that it could be a 1955 Chevy Bel Air.

If I could somehow swap that that transmission out with that nine speed that that'd be amazing.

And I mean, obviously there's a lot of hidden prices in there and, you know, accessories and repair bills and tires and, you know, consumables and all the things.
But just in the cost of the cars, how much have I spent?
And then I was like, well, I guess I need to know how many cars I've bought.
And so that's what got me going down that rabbit hole in my brain, in my brain hole.
So there you go.

I think we've been on here for a long time and you still haven't figured out how to explain this car to a non to one of your customers who is a car person.

That's the other thing is, I think, I mean, I think that if you were a non car person and you only look at a car as a device, you sit in to arrive at a new location.
I just don't think you ever fully understand or get what a Corvette ZR1X is.
