"...t is possible to find. Give a crack at Photoshop Express. I'm looking for a reversing camera for a van,"
The Chevrolet Express is a big van that people use for work or to carry lots of people. Because it's big, having a camera to see behind it helps drivers park and drive safely. That's why someone might look for a reversing camera for this van.
The Chevrolet Express is a full-size van commonly used for commercial purposes and as a passenger van. It is known for its spacious interior and versatility, often chosen for conversions or as work vans. The mention of a reversing camera for a van fits well with the Express's typical use as a large vehicle where such features improve safety.
""And I'd like it, because it's a van. It's got barn doors, and so you can't see out in the middle the frame of the door as it's right in the rear-vision mirror line.""
Barn doors are the two back doors on a van that open outwards like big gates, which can make it harder to see behind the van.
Barn doors are rear doors on a van that open outward from the center, often in two halves, which can obstruct rear visibility compared to a single liftgate.
""It's got barn doors, and so you can't see out in the middle the frame of the door as it's right in the rear-vision mirror line. So it needs a dash cam...""
The rear-vision mirror is the mirror inside your car that lets you see what's behind you while driving.
The rear-vision mirror, commonly called the rearview mirror, is mounted inside the vehicle to allow the driver to see behind through the rear window.
"but you're talking about getting rid of the mirror and making the mirror digital permanently? Yes. Well, a lot of them are both. They're a mirror, and if you turn them on, then you get front view, back view, and reverse view,"
Instead of a regular mirror you look at, a digital mirror shows you a video on a screen from cameras on the car. This can help you see better behind and around your car.
A digital mirror replaces the traditional reflective mirror with a screen that displays live video feeds from cameras mounted on the vehicle. This can offer better visibility, including views of blind spots and rear views, especially in low light or bad weather.
"but you wire it up to the reversing system in the car. Yeah, what sort of money are you talking about?"
This is the system in a car that helps you see or hear things behind you when you are backing up, so you don’t crash into anything.
The reversing system in a car typically includes sensors and cameras that assist the driver when backing up. It can trigger video feeds or alerts to help avoid obstacles.
"...most of the others are sort of 1280 by 320p or 1920 by 1080p. And the Wolfbox, they're talking about megapixels. It's 8 megapixels for the camera..."
Megapixels tell you how detailed a camera's pictures are. More megapixels mean clearer and sharper photos.
Megapixels refer to the number of pixels in a digital camera sensor or image, indicating the resolution and detail the camera can capture. Higher megapixels generally mean sharper images.
"...There's the screen and the camera, right? Because the screen has a resolution. So the actual mirror, if you think of it that way..."
Screen resolution means how clear and sharp the picture looks on a screen. It depends on how many tiny dots (pixels) the screen can show.
Screen resolution is the number of pixels displayed on a screen, determining the clarity and sharpness of the image shown. It differs from the camera's megapixel count.
"...But is it a 4K camera? That's what you want to know."
A 4K camera takes very clear and detailed videos because it uses lots of tiny dots (pixels) to make the picture sharp.
A 4K camera captures video at a resolution of approximately 3840 x 2160 pixels, offering very high detail and clarity compared to lower resolutions like 1080p.

"And then you go to Amazon and I see all the Wolfbox stuff you're talking about.
I will say this about Wolfbox, they've got a lot of products.
So they can't be horrible because you just don't stay in business
that long if you're horrible, do you?
And they clearly have warehousing at Amazon
because they've got same-day shipping.
I could get one of these things shipped to me today.
I like the look of the Wolfbox because it's exactly what you describe.
It's the digital rear view mirror,
but it's also got a little camera on the front of it
so it's a forward-facing dash cam as well.
They do seem quite, shall we say, affordable.
That's what worried me.
$200 for crying out loud.
Yeah, that one doesn't replace...
That's only a clip-over one.
Right.
That hasn't got the facility where you can take the clip-on
and make it into a fixed mirror"
Wolfbox makes special car mirrors that have built-in cameras to help you see behind and in front of your car better.
Wolfbox is a company that produces digital rear view mirrors combined with dash cams, offering affordable and multifunctional vehicle camera systems that enhance driver visibility and safety.
"I like the look of the Wolfbox because it's exactly what you describe.

Instead of a normal mirror, this mirror shows a video from a camera behind your car so you can see better when driving.
A digital rear view mirror replaces the traditional reflective mirror with a screen that displays a live video feed from a rear-mounted camera, improving rear visibility especially in low light or obstructed views.
"It's the digital rear view mirror,
but it's also got a little camera on the front of it
so it's a forward-facing dash cam as well."
This is a small camera on the front of your car that records what happens in front of you while you drive.
A forward-facing dash cam is a camera mounted on the front of a vehicle that records video footage of the road ahead, useful for evidence in accidents or insurance claims.
"Yeah, that one doesn't replace...
That's only a clip-over one.
Right.
That hasn't got the facility where you can take the clip-on
and make it into a fixed mirror"
This is a mirror you clip on top of your car's current mirror instead of taking the old one off.
A clip-over mirror is an aftermarket mirror that attaches over the existing rear view mirror, providing additional features without replacing the original mirror permanently.

Hardwiring means connecting a device like a camera directly to your car's electrical system so it gets power all the time without needing to plug it in.

Great to have you company. Welcome back to the show.
A couple of weeks off. Well not off. I mean, jeez, I was busy. Where the hell was I?
Samsung? And then Formula One. That's right.
Yeah, I totally remember where I've been. I'm not lost at all. Don't worry about me.
Yes, two weeks ago we were at Samsung in San Francisco.
And last week I was at the Grand Prix in Melbourne trying to cover that as best I could for the today's show.
So it's been a couple. It really has. And the Samsung Galaxy S26 is a stunning phone.
I'll get it right up on that hopefully later this week. I've been using it as a permanent device for that time.
And loving it. It's a great phone. It's just huge. Like, you know, me, I prefer a smaller phone.
But everything it does, the privacy mode is phenomenal. Such an amazing technology.
I'm just blown away by it as a technology. I really am.
So, yeah, impressive stuff and really, really cool.
I will make sure I get that review up this week.
But no doubt the big stand out there is privacy mode. Camera features are great.
I did some test shots in Melbourne and different places.
But, you know, nothing, I don't reckon it's remarkably different or better than last time.
It's definitely incrementally better, no doubt. But the reason to buy this is privacy mode.
Without question in my mind. Great, great phone. Really, really cool feature. Very impressive.
And then let's not talk about the Formula One. I think we just ignore the fact that it happened.
And they consider trying it to be the first race of the year. Just for simplicity reasons.
Look, I've told the story before about how last year I was in a corporate box and left because it looked like it was going to rain.
And it was going to be horrible. This year I was with Atlassian in a kind of a corporate area on Turn 1.
It wasn't the craziest, fanciest place. It was very busy and packed. It was very hard to find a view of the race.
But we were just sitting around a table and the light had gone green on formation laps.
And, you know, we were talking. People were distracted.
People, even in the grand sale, they were going to get to the toilet for the last time, getting a drink or whatever.
This is just half an hour, 20 minutes before the Grand Prix.
You're not paying attention. And then suddenly you hear ooze and arse.
And you see Oscar's car smashed on the side of the track. And you realise the entire day is over for Oscar and for any Aussie fan.
And it was demoralising. It was literally gutted. I was gutted for him.
And I think I put so much hope into his performance and I feel for him in that sense.
But I watched the first 10 laps or so. It was awesome.
And then I thought, you know what, I'm going to beat the traffic here.
And our park is horrible to get out of. There's huge queues just to get out of the joint.
They need to work on that.
But it's because it's surrounded by roads and trams. So you can't just let people flow. People have got to cross the road.
They need to close more roads and let and put the public transport access at a different point.
That's the problem. They need a big underground train station like Sydney Olympic Park to make that work.
Anyway, leaving that aside, I had a great week and I appreciate everyone's feedback on the week.
It was a lot of fun. I got to interview David Croft, Oscar Piastri.
Who do I interview on Wednesday during the day?
I can't even remember now. Pervaltry Bottas at night. The head of Cadillac.
I mean, we had a lot of great checks. Oh, that's right. Jonathan Wheatley from Audi during the day on Wednesday.
Spent a lot of great people. Carl Reinhler came on the Today Show.
My mate Greg Rust spent a couple of days with Paul Murray.
He came down and stayed with me in my apartment down there and we had a good time.
It's weird how closely linked I am to motorsport.
Like we went, Paul Murray and I were walking through the V8 paddock and we were looking at the Toyotas
and Neil Crompton saw us and he knows Paul very well and he waved him in and then at one point,
Paul said, you know, Trevor and he goes, and he looked at me and he went, oh my God,
he didn't remember me since I had a beard and I've had a beard for 13 years.
But Neil Crompton, one of the nicest people in motorsport and I posted a bit on Facebook
and I went viral about Neil getting dutted on the supercars commentary
and that's nothing against the current commentary team. They're doing a good job.
It's against the management team that just booted the bloke, just filthy about it.
Anyway, not here to talk Formula One and motorsport, here to talk tech.

I'd love to try and help you with your tech buying, your tech advice, whatever it is.
