A battery electric vehicle is a car that uses electricity stored in a battery to drive. It doesn’t use petrol.
Term
Electric Vehicle Council
The Electric Vehicle Council is an organization involved in EV information in Australia. The host is saying some smaller brands don’t use their reporting channels, so the data can be incomplete.
Term
V-Facts
V-Facts is a system/data source that helps track vehicle sales. The host is saying some smaller brands don’t report through it, so their numbers are harder to confirm.
The Tesla Model Y is an electric SUV made by Tesla. Here, the hosts say it was the top-selling car in Australia for May, which is a big deal because it means it’s selling in huge numbers.
“All powertrains” means the sales ranking includes every kind of drivetrain, not just EVs. So when they say the Model Y was best-selling “in all powertrains,” they’re comparing it against cars with gasoline, diesel, hybrid, and other drivetrain types too.
“Registrations” means cars that have been officially registered with the government. It can lag behind actual sales because paperwork and delivery timing can take a while.
“Aggregated” here means they’re adding different versions together into one combined number. That makes it harder to tell exactly how many sales belong to each specific Model Y variant.
A warranty is what the company promises to pay for if something covered breaks. They’re mentioning an “80-year warranty” as a big reason people see the car as good value.
Extended range means the EV can drive farther on a charge than the standard version. They’re saying that longer-range version likely helped sales.
Car
Geely X5
The Geely X5 is an SUV model they’re listing among the top-selling EVs. They’re using it to show how different brands are stacking up against Tesla and each other.
The BMW X5 is a large SUV made for everyday driving, family trips, and comfort. People talk about it a lot because it’s a popular luxury option. It can come up in conversations about what buyers are choosing as new models enter the market.
The Sealion 7 is an electric SUV model being talked about in terms of sales and deliveries. The podcast is basically saying it’s still doing well compared with other options. It’s included to show what EVs people are choosing as adoption grows.
The Zeekr 7X is an electric SUV. The podcast mentions it because it’s showing up in sales and delivery numbers. It’s used as an example of EVs that are starting to reach customers.
The Kia EV3 is an electric car. The podcast talks about how many units it’s selling, which shows it’s starting to be popular. It’s included to illustrate real EV adoption numbers.
The BMW M2 is a smaller BMW built for sporty driving. It’s the kind of car people notice because it’s meant to feel quick and fun. The podcast mentions it because it’s showing up in ads and on the road.
Electric cars are cars that run on electricity from a battery instead of petrol. The host is saying people want these cars, so brands need to have the right ones available.
The Toyota RAV4 is a very common SUV. The host is saying Toyota has sometimes had long waiting lists for it, and that kind of supply delay can hurt when competitors have cars available sooner.
The Toyota Hilux is a popular pickup truck. The host is using it as another example of Toyota having very long waits to get a vehicle, which can make customers look elsewhere when other brands have stock.
“Artificial demand” here refers to demand that’s inflated or sustained by supply constraints—like long order backlogs and delivery lead times. The host argues that Toyota’s long waits effectively created a situation where customers wanted the vehicles, but couldn’t get them quickly.
Term
straight line functionality
They’re talking about a feature that helps the car go straight and behave predictably. That matters when you have a small garage and need to pull out without lots of complicated steering.
This is a system where your phone can work like the car key. Instead of using a key fob, you use your phone—here, through Apple Wallet—to unlock and access the car.
NFC is a short-range wireless method—usually you tap your phone near a sensor. They’re debating whether the car’s digital key works by tapping (NFC) or by another wireless method.
The BYD Seal is an electric car. The podcast mentions it because you can use it in a simple way, like tapping to unlock or operate it. That’s about making the car easier to use day to day.
That means the phone talks to the car using a low-power Bluetooth signal. Because it’s wireless, you don’t have to tap the phone on anything to make it work.
Auto-steer is a driver-assistance feature that helps steer the car. It can keep you in your lane, but it usually only works when the system can clearly see the road markings.
Term
app cruise control
App cruise control is cruise control you can manage using your phone. Instead of only using the car’s buttons, the app can help set or adjust the driving assist behavior.
Dash cam functionality means the car can record what’s happening on the road. It can be useful for accidents or disputes, but here they’re saying this car still doesn’t have it.
Over-the-air updates are software updates that download to your car wirelessly. The idea here is that the car can get better over time, not just stay the same after you buy it.
The Tesla Model X is an electric SUV, meaning it’s a larger family-style vehicle powered by electricity. The podcast mentions it as part of the Tesla EV range. It’s brought up in the context of what people are using and talking about.
The Jeep Renegade is a small SUV meant for everyday driving. It’s built to handle city streets while still feeling like a “Jeep.” The podcast brings it up as part of the mix of vehicles people talk about.
V2L means the car can send electricity out to power things outside the car. Think of it like using the EV as a portable generator for devices you plug in.
The Tesla Cybertruck is an all-electric pickup. In this episode, it matters because it already has the ability to power things outside the vehicle (V2L) in America.
The BYD Shark 6 is an electric vehicle model from BYD. In the podcast, it’s mentioned as part of the BYD set of cars people are talking about. The focus is more on awareness than detailed features here.
“Voiding warranty” means the company may refuse to cover repairs if you use the wrong accessories or setup. They’re saying using a different adapter than the one they recommend could cause that problem.
An adapter is a small connector that lets you plug the charging cable into a different type of outlet. They’re saying using the wrong adapter might cause warranty problems or charging not to work as expected.
“Version 14” means a particular software update for the Tesla. When Tesla updates the car over the internet, it can change how the driving-assist features behave.
“Full self-driving” is Tesla’s software that tries to help the car drive more on its own. Even when it’s enabled, you still have to watch the road and be ready to take over.
“Hardware three” is the newer computer inside some Tesla cars that powers the advanced driving features. If the software is improved, having the newer computer can help the system work better.
FSD is short for “Full Self-Driving.” It’s Tesla’s set of driving-assist features that try to do more of the driving, but you still need to stay alert.
Company
Halibaba
“Halibaba” is being mentioned as a company that provides charging plugs or charging access for EVs. The hosts are basically saying to be cautious when using third-party charging gear.
The Dodge Charger is a car that’s built for performance and a sporty feel. In this podcast, it’s mentioned because there’s a charging spot connected to it. That’s about making it easier to charge the car where people live and drive.
Term
resale values
Resale value is how much your car is likely to be worth when you sell it later. The host suggests it depends on things like whether you keep servicing it through the official MG dealers so the warranty stays intact.
A 10-year warranty means the manufacturer promises to cover certain problems for a decade. The host is saying that keeping up with dealer servicing can help preserve that warranty, which can make the car worth more later.
This refers to having scheduled maintenance performed through the brand’s authorized dealer network. The host’s point is that dealer servicing can be required to keep warranty coverage valid, which then affects resale value.
The Mazda 6 MPS is a sportier version of the Mazda 6. It’s meant to drive more enthusiastically than a standard model. The podcast mentions it as part of a list of cars people are talking about.
The CX-6e is a car model name mentioned in the podcast. The discussion doesn’t provide details here, but it’s included as part of a list of vehicles people are bringing up. It’s likely being compared or considered in the broader market conversation.
S07 is a model name mentioned in the podcast. The host connects it to an S7-type reference, meaning it’s being used as a comparison. The goal is to help listeners understand what kind of vehicle it is.
The Audi S7 is a sporty, higher-performance version of an Audi sedan-style car. It’s meant to feel quick while still being comfortable for daily use. In the podcast, it’s used as a reference point for what a “good car” can be.
Digital mirrors are cameras on the outside of the car that show the view on a screen instead of using normal mirrors. The host is saying they can help you see better, especially in rain or at night, but some buyers may not be able to choose them freely.
Focal length is a camera setting that affects how wide or zoomed the picture looks. In cars with camera-based mirrors, it can make the view feel different, so you may need time to get used to it.
Term
V.8 meter
This sounds like the speaker talking about a car measurement in meters. They’re basically saying the car is about 4.85 meters long, and that helps explain why it feels bigger.
The Ferrari Luce is a premium car model mentioned in the podcast. The conversation includes choosing a color, which suggests buyers can personalize the car. It’s brought up as an example of how customization might work.
Term
living breathing Titanic
This is a colorful way to describe a huge, heavy luxury car. The idea is that it feels smooth and floaty, like a big ship moving through water.
Rolls-Royce is a luxury car brand. The conversation here is about how they’re moving toward electric cars but trying to keep the classic Rolls-Royce feel.
A pin stripe is a thin, decorative stripe—often hand-painted—used as a styling detail on luxury vehicles. In this segment, it’s described as a specific Rolls-Royce signature element painted by a single long-tenured specialist.
Goodwood is a famous place in the UK connected to cars and racing. In this story, it’s where the person who does the special pin stripe work has been based for years.
The Toyota Corolla is a common, everyday car that many people buy because it’s practical. It’s often used as a reference for “normal” pricing. In the podcast, it’s mentioned to compare costs with something else.
The Kia PV5 is a Kia vehicle that’s described as being used to move people around. The podcast is treating it as a practical option for everyday transport. It’s included to show how EVs (and EV interest) can spread to different kinds of use cases.
The Ford F-150 Lightning is an electric pickup truck. The podcast talks about turning it into something like a camper van, meaning using it for road trips and travel. It’s mentioned because it shows how people want to use EVs beyond just daily driving.
A retractable sunroof is a roof window that can open and close. It lets more light in (and sometimes lets air in) when you want it.
Term
fiber OPTIQ style roof
This refers to a fancy roof lighting effect that uses fiber-optic lights to look like stars. The point of mentioning it is that it’s a premium luxury feature compared to cheaper alternatives.
Bluetooth voice means you can use your voice through the car’s Bluetooth connection. It’s usually for things like calls or voice commands instead of typing on the screen.
The Tesla Model 3 is an electric car that’s meant for normal daily driving. The podcast mentions it because of the technology inside the car, like how you control functions. It’s a common EV example because many people consider it for affordability and convenience.
Volkswagen has an electric-car line called the ID series. The speaker starts mentioning it, but doesn’t finish the exact model name in this clip.
LIVE
Music
Once that goes, sorry.
All right.
Hey, everyone.
I am Tom and this is Joy, beside me.
Hello.
And welcome to Wednesday Night once again
on the EV show on Ludacris Feed Live.
Yes, you saw our co-host very briefly there.
We'll introduce them very shortly.
But today is Wednesday, the 3rd of June, 2026.
Hope you're all doing well.
Great news today in the world of EVs.
We'll touch on that very shortly, of course.
But before we do that, let's thank our sponsors as always.
Here we go.
Carl Loop.
Thank you, Carl Loop and Riz and the team for sponsoring the show
and the channel.
Speaking of Riz, let's get him on right now.
What about our co-host for today?
Hey, Riz, how are we?
Hey, Tom and Joy.
Everyone going well.
We're here.
I think it's a pretty exciting show, lots to talk about.
So much to talk about.
So much good news as well.
Let's walk on Rollin' out of the co-host for this evening.
Hey, Rollin' from YouTube channel Zapt.
How are we?
Clearly can't get off mute.
One job.
Hey, Tom and Joy, Riz, everyone.
Good, good.
Glad to be back.
Missed last week.
We definitely missed you.
But yeah, good week to join us, absolutely,
as we will touch on that very shortly.
So much to talk about.
So much.
So much good news too.
Let's say hello to some of our regulars who joined us
nice and early on tonight.
So 138 viewers already barely two minutes in.
So thanks for joining us this evening.
If you're watching us on replay, make sure you drop a comment.
And thanks for listening to us on podcast as well in the car
or wherever you might be.
Hello to Lightning Ozzy.
Yes, you were an hour early, but that's okay.
Better early than late.
Or never at all, really.
And yes, 46% EV sales.
That's probably plugins as well.
But yeah, it's still a good number regardless for battery electric vehicles.
Anyway, hello, Mother.
Correcting us.
Yes, it's EVs, PHEVs and other non-plugins
for 46% electrified vehicles.
It is 19.93%.
Rounded up to 20% for a month of May, 2026, which is fantastic.
Hello, DWA.
Hello, Lord Anubis.
Hello, it's the bright side.
Looks like Lord is saying WA still hasn't had a BYD delivery this year,
unfortunately, all the focus has been on the East Coast.
So hopefully you guys get your cars soon.
Hello, Tony.
Hello, Jim from For The Verbs.
And hello, Murray from Tungabi, New South Wales.
Hello, Tony Spiegel.
Hello, Murray, saying yes, China Time for EVs.
Indeed, absolutely.
Hello, Andrew from Ararat.
You said China Time.
Oh, was that a drink?
Okay, sorry.
There we go.
And shout out to Pauline Dobbs as well.
Brand new EX5 in her garage, she says,
but I can't drive it for six weeks due to eye surgery the day before delivery.
Oh, no.
But at least you can enjoy the massage seats.
That you can do.
Sit in the car and learn about it.
That's right.
That's right.
Listen to our podcast.
You can still listen to that.
And hello, everyone else who's joined us.
Who's joined us nice and early tonight as well.
Thank you so much.
It's been a great month.
Absolutely.
Let's kick that off with the news of the day.
Obviously, Riz's article on the Driven.
Let's see if I can pop that on.
Yes.
Evie sales hit record 20% share indeed in May, 2026 as Tesla,
BYD Jakku and Geely, Surge and diesel use slump.
Riz, take it away.
Yeah, 20%.
I mean, it's been, I know it was,
I was expecting this a bit later in the year, but here we are.
I think all those deliveries now with interest from February,
March and so all prices have been surging.
Yeah, we got over 21,300 battery electric vehicles on our roads.
The number is actually a little bit higher than that because
GAC X-Peng, which I know I'm delivering too many at the moment,
but GAC in particular are smart.
Some of those other smaller brands don't go through V-Facts
or Electric Vehicle Council for the data.
So we're not too sure, but yeah, 21,303 official,
Evie sold total of 106,887 cars and commercial vehicles
sold during the month.
So yeah, huge, huge sales.
Yeah, it looks like Tesla boasted its best ever monthly sales,
6,443.
That's huge, a huge number.
See, that's interesting.
I think for all our viewers and listeners, I put the stories together
and sometimes the editorial team looks at it.
This is not the highest month ever.
They did have a month a couple of years ago with over 7,000 sales.
So yeah, anyway, it's close, but more importantly,
Tesla Model Y was the best-selling car in May.
In all powertrains, right?
All powertrains.
That's phenomenal.
Wow, that's a huge effort.
Is this count the Model Y?
Yeah, exactly, right?
Does this count the YL as well in that group?
Okay, interesting.
It does.
I tried to break things down a little bit with the data
that was provided by Electric Vehicle Council,
but funnily enough, the Model Y long-range all-wheel drive
saw a huge surge in sales or registrations,
but I'm very confident that that includes Model YLs as well
because there was no separate, let's call it, variant added into that data set.
Unless they change that next month,
I have a feeling they'll just continue to report it in an aggregated way,
but I shall have more detailed data that we get at CarLoop next month,
next week, to share with everybody around what are the rough breakdowns
we're seeing for Model YLs out of that as well.
So first month of big deliveries for the Model YL.
Of course, saw your video, Tom and Joy, as well.
You picked yours up, so you were part of the big number story.
We sure were.
Very happy with it so far.
And yeah, look, I think obviously on the Tesla website,
Model Y is just one big thing you can buy.
So I would be surprised if they break it down in the sales numbers,
but yeah, good to see CarLoop being able to hopefully break those numbers down as well for next month.
And other brands too, of course, JQJ5 deliveries starting to finally take hold as well
from all those pent-up orders over the last few months.
Oh, massive month for them.
I mean, I can clearly see that that car is going to be really well purchased.
They're catching up, as you said, to the orders,
but I also think they have a huge amount of order backlog as well,
given what a great value that car is in the grand scheme of things for SUV with relatively good interior,
reasonable tech, 80-year warranty.
So JQ and the Cherry team, I think, have done a really good job with that car.
And then, of course, JQJ5 also had the best month with over 1,800 sales.
That's probably on the back of the extended range as well.
I would have thought that with the car that we just reviewed as well on the channel.
Let's just scroll down to these numbers here.
So yeah, Tesla Model Y ahead of the pack there.
JQ number two at 2,000 odd sales and Geely X5, 1,800.
And C-Line 7, no slouch, it's still up there in the mix.
And of course, Zika 7X, I'm sure some of those deliveries are starting to filter through as well from the last few months.
And then a whole bunch of BYDs.
So I couldn't see BYD demand still going strong as well.
Yeah, it's huge.
I don't think it's going to stop, guys.
Isn't it 20%?
Hopefully it's just upward and onward from you.
And to think that Western Australia aren't even getting their BYDs yet.
So it's like being artificially constrained.
It could be even higher.
Yeah.
And other, as Bruce said, other companies aren't reporting like, yeah, GAC, Xperon.
I think Deepel, did they report or they just don't have the figures?
Deepel do report, but they just, well, given our, I remember when we used to go through like the top 15 sales.
And I think the, you know, the whole list would drop down to like 60 or 70 units.
Now we're getting up to like, I think Kia EV3 was 531 units.
So this list is, yeah, I'm still trying to keep it under 15.
But yeah, just the number of sales is incredible.
I mean, look at the BVB body at a one, like, you know, a lot of sales.
Just, you know, one of the smallest cars in the country.
But yeah, seems to be punching way above its size.
Yeah.
Don't forget these numbers, right?
Like, come on, 2,000 sales and that, and Jakku is only number two.
Like that's, for me, that's incredible.
That's what a feat.
And, you know, I was reading your article here is that last year this time we were, we were only what?
Half the number of EVs, right?
At this time last year?
Yeah, we've gone, we've just increased pretty rapidly now.
Yeah, let me just see.
Here we go.
9.2% this time last year.
And we were already kind of celebrating that figure.
So come a long way.
And look, you know, sale of diesel, you'd stand 16.4% from a year ago.
That's not surprising.
And, you know, diesel SUVs as well, down more than 40% again, not surprising.
You know, you'd have to think very hard before buying a diesel vehicle at the moment, right?
Even though you can see in Sydney, I don't know about Melbourne and other centers, but the petrol prices are coming down or at least stabilizing.
But I think smart consumers don't want to be beholden to what's happened in the last few months again.
You know, you don't want petrol prices to dictate things moving forward.
Whereas electricity seems to be more stable, as we know.
Not just a pricey availability as well.
I think it wasn't diesel, just like literally sold out in some places.
No shortage.
That's right.
Yeah, you just couldn't even get it.
Hell yeah.
Correct.
Yep.
Let's take a couple of comments from the audience.
So yeah, electric fuel.
Sorry.
I always say quave head first.
Would that MG be the old one or the urban?
It's a combination at the moment, I think they're not breaking it down.
So I suspect, you know, we're going to see more and more of that.
But I think it will be the first big month for the first or second month for the MG for urban deliveries as well.
So that should boost numbers as well.
Yep.
Seeing a lot of ads for that on the M2 on the highway.
And electric fuel saying I've seen heaps of GAC ion Vs in Sydney lately.
Yeah, good.
Good, good.
And does anyone think the Ato III EVO will be here in July or August?
I hope so.
I think that's the second half 2026 didn't they?
BYD.
Yeah.
We'll see.
Yeah, Tony makes a good point.
I think, you know, we'll probably be constrained by supply eventually.
I'm not sure they can send cars quickly enough, unless, unless someone like Riz, Captain Riz
actor can steer the ship here.
Now this is the BYD ship that landed in Port Melbourne.
Great to see Riz at the at the helm there and the WA I saw wasn't getting cars.
So hopefully Riz can steer that to different man.
I found the controls.
So I did.
I found where things were.
I had to sort of tell the captain, look, this, this ship may have to go take another course.
Let's head out West.
So you never know what happens.
But yeah, that was just incredible.
How much mainstream media attention this, this vessel has gotten.
And but yeah, just amazing bit of engineering as well.
And what BYD was able to, the type of access they were able to get.
Now this photo here, I mean, for those on the audio podcast, we're looking at a few hundred
sea lion sevens in and in the distance.
You can see the BYD.
That boat them here, the ship docked at the port of Melbourne.
This would probably be from taking, I guess, probably a tenth of what we see the number
of cars that that ship bought.
There were car parks everywhere and the type of access BYD was able to get for, you know,
people that they invited was incredible.
I've been to the port before and you cannot get as close as what they got.
If they got us onto the vessel to have a look and, you know, talk to the captain and look
at the controls and just all the different decks, you know, there's 13 levels that you
have to climb up the stairs.
I thought I was like, you know, training to be on the army reserves by the time I got
to the top, but they do have lifts as well.
So they had, you know, but the lifts are pretty occupied probably with more VIP people than
myself.
But yeah, it was very, just the size of it was incredible.
200 meters long, this vessel, 38 meters wide can carry, if it's small vehicles, it can
carry up to 7000 and if it's larger vehicles like the type of stuff that it was bringing
with C-line 7s, densers.
I think this particular vessel had 4,900-ish cars on it.
That's phenomenal effort, isn't it?
I mean, and BYD promised 30,000 cars, right?
So this is like one of six deliveries I would have thought if this vessel can take 5,000
vehicles.
And I agree with Sarah Aubrey's comment here.
Her first comment on your post there on LinkedIn, she said, Rez, you look like a kid in a candy
shop.
Can I agree?
Well, I said that in the post myself because I was like, you know, this is for a random
ship observer.
This is pretty much a dream come true to get a chance to go in one.
This vessel is less than nine months old, I think, they were saying, and usually it
heads to South America.
But this time it came from Shanghai to Melbourne and I think it's going to Port Kemblah and
then heading up to Brisbane as well before making its way back, I believe, towards China.
Yeah.
So we got an invite too.
We just couldn't make it down to Melbourne for the day, unfortunately.
And I do half regret not seeing it, but hopefully we'll get something in Sydney to see at least.
I think that's stopping at Port Kemblah as Kamal's is saying.
Yeah.
So maybe it might be worth a trip down there.
I'll still be on the ship, so yeah.
Excellent.
I want to invite into the Bonzo lounge, me and Joy, and roll on as well.
Bonzo, your dreams is here.
That's right.
And Leon said the difference is that they own the ship, not just chartering.
That's correct.
This is completely their ship.
So this has been the controversy around this.
Like, yeah, ships come and go, right?
And that's cool.
Like a lot of the roll on, roll off or row row ships come into all different ports around
Australia, bringing thousands of cars every month.
But this ship has stirred up the industry in a really big way.
It's not really about the vessel or that it's bringing BYD vehicles.
It's that it's a BYD owned ship.
You have PR managers and others from legacy automakers saying, this is nothing new.
We've done this before, blah, blah, blah.
And that's all great, but it's really stirred them up.
Like, I think Toyota even put a press release out yesterday or the day before saying, hey,
we have 10,000 cars we're sending over on this big vessel.
And I'm like, really guys, like, it's not a, you know, how big is your sort of competition?
This is, you know, just if you can get the right type of vehicles that people want and
the demand that that brings with it.
That's all people want.
People want electric cars and that's what you should be sending.
But because Toyota has always reserved, you know, those huge wait times of RAV4s and
Hilux is 12 months, 18 months, 24 months.
Artificial demand that was there.
Now they're being, I guess they're getting caught out because BYD is saying,
now stuff this, the vehicles are here.
Consumers want them, they can buy them.
Yeah, look, let's just hope Toyota is not caught napping at the wheel, so to speak.
It is, you know, you can't help but observe that there is some hubris going on with some
of the legacy auto.
I just hope they don't have their Kodak moment.
It's, you know, the writing's been on the wall for years.
It's, you know, so they really need to ship up, so to speak.
And, and yeah, it's, as you said, they send cars, but this is a massive flex from BYD.
You know, this is, this is like a big, you know, sort of proverbial to legacy.
Yeah, this is our ship.
This has got our name on it.
What are you going to do about it?
So I've not seen anything like this in a long time.
So very impressive.
Yeah.
Hopefully it's got BYD batteries on board says Fluky Luki, but yes, it is.
It is powered by LNG.
You can see there on the picture.
BYD advertising giving.
Yeah, maybe, but still it's a big flex, right?
Why not?
Well, that's, so I think the key here is all the media that was there.
So they had Channel 9, Channel 10, 7, you name all the mainstream media you can think
of were there at this event that they held in Melbourne.
They invited a lot of their first customers.
That was really unique because they invited a gentleman that lives up in Queensland and
he has bought four BYDs from the ones that Luke Todd initially, one of them was the one
that Luke Todd originally bought in to the country.
Those E6s, I think they were.
So they tried to, you know, sort of say, hey, we've been here for four years.
We've done 120,000 sales so far and we've got bigger goals.
People did ask them, hey, would you take Toyota as a key target?
And they said we can't.
We've got a lot to learn from Toyota.
They elegantly put it.
But the reality is it's inevitable.
It's going to happen.
Toyota sales are done massively this year.
And I think a lot of the legacy car makers are getting very worried.
Well, here's a funny little poll for our audience.
It's not an official poll.
Just leave a comment.
When do you think BYD will outsell Toyota in this country?
Just leave you a number of months or years or weeks in the comments there.
We'll see.
Who gets closer?
We'll look back in time when it does happen.
Is that too confident on me to say when it does happen?
Or if it does happen, maybe.
Let's be more conservative.
All right.
Let's keep an eye on that.
If that ship does dock in Port Camelot in the next few weeks, hopefully.
All right.
Let's move on to another brand.
That's doing well.
I saw a LinkedIn post too.
That's another month of 1,000 sales for Zika for May.
But it looks like Zika has launched their first week over the year update for the 7X,
which is great.
Some good changes there, Roland.
Is you outlining your post?
Yeah.
It kind of goes from exciting to not as exciting because I feel like I saw on the Facebook
groups people that aren't on iPhones are picking up going, what about the Android users?
I think in reality, what I've been reading, and I don't know anyone, so I can't comment,
but from what I've read is that the issues were because people with iPhones were experiencing
issues.
And the people with Android actually didn't experience any issues, so they've actually
fixed it.
But it's a good win for that straight line functionality for people with tight garages.
So I think that's a really big win to be able to just get the car out even if it's just
going straight.
And then the CCC 3.0 digital key is just the phone.
The phone is for Apple.
It's only for Apple, by the way.
And that is to link it to your Apple wallet.
So it's pretty much like what I think some BMWs you can do that to.
And so that just means you essentially don't need your key, that square key fob.
Does that mean you can tap your, because the BYD seal and other cars have that too, we
can tap it on the side mirror?
NFC area?
Is that what it is?
The digital key?
I wonder.
No, I think it's just, it's low energy Bluetooth.
So it's just wireless.
You don't need to tap.
I'd like Tesla basically.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I must have been having the Tesla again is great.
Being able to just walk up with my phone and just open it.
I've kind of missed that.
So good to see Zika's got that too.
Yeah, that's great.
That's really good.
Yeah, you can leave your home with that.
Your key.
And yeah, let's see.
Get some feedback from people who've got Zika 7Xs.
So HK says iPhone smart key works flawlessly.
Good.
Front back auto-steer and app cruise control has been refined significantly.
Steering feeling and cornering is improved.
Very precise.
Like Tesla region.
That's good to see.
That's really good feedback actually.
Electric fuel says still no dash cam functionality.
Okay.
I still find it amazing that yeah, with all of these over the updates, you end up with
a better car than you bought, isn't it?
And it's like, it even changing changes.
So like steering and cornering, like it's actually changing the drive dynamics.
It's not just sort of like, yeah, like not just like the infotainment, but actually
the way the car handles and drives.
Like, I just think that's magical.
Fair enough.
Yeah.
It's remarkable, isn't it?
Just software alone can improve the car.
Does anyone actually use a straight line functionality for getting in and out of the garage?
I'm sure people do.
I mean, our garage is in bad tide that we don't have to use it.
You do it?
For our Model X.
Yeah.
It's, I guess, they call it a dumb summon, but I use it provably because our garage is
only five and a half meters and with two SUVs sometimes, depending on how you park,
you may or may not find it more difficult, at least in my body shape.
So some of the doubt, but by all means, like it does take longer, at least on my car.
So I don't know how quick that is.
So all its owners and viewers comment and chime in if you've got that update on how
quick or slow it is, but I'd hope like it sounds quite promising.
I never really get into the car unless the chauffeur drives it out.
The spectra is a bit difficult to get in and out of in my, in my 16 car underground garage.
So just putting it out there unless the vehicle's on the ground and the umbrella pops out, I
don't get in.
So you don't, you don't even, you don't even need a wallet.
You just do this.
And then that reminds me of that Maestro in China, you know, like that, that Maestro
S800 or whatever that car is, where everything is gesture control, like you get in the car
and you like point at it and it like closes the doors and very, very cool stuff.
Well, it'd be a cool gimmick to have it in some of the cars.
So Zika, if you're listening next update, that's what we expect.
Roland brings up a good point actually, because if you don't have to, if you can park so close
to the wall that you don't need to get out the driver's side, it actually opens a lot
of possibilities in terms of like where you can park.
Suddenly all those spots that are like, oh, I can't get into there.
You can.
The car can at least get into there.
So yeah, it's good.
It's good.
I never thought of it that way, but yeah, that's a good hack.
Charles makes a good point.
Recent post he saw that someone used high quality tactile paint to tape to mark out a space in
this garage, specifically our auto parking.
I guess you can mark out lanes in your garage, right?
So it's a bit easier for the car to see.
And yeah, BYD introduced the watch app recently.
Still not Tesla glue, but everything counts.
And Brett says Bluetooth phone key like Zika function is greater than G6, which is the
Xperia, but I just don't have two drivers can get confused who is who.
That's a problem we have without Xperia too.
Well, not ours, but the one we had on loan when two phones come together.
Yes.
Well, it's collide.
But as long as you weren't anywhere near me, it was absolutely fine.
Get away.
Yes.
Android walk up unlock, walk away unlock doesn't work as Andrew says.
Android seven X users need to use the phone to get things done.
Yeah.
I mean, if you want to do the same thing.
Yeah.
Surely.
Oh, Camel saying Tom, the ship has, should it be arriving in Port Kimball?
Six AM tomorrow.
How long does it stay?
I don't know.
I don't know what timings are like for ships.
Usually, usually a day or so, depending on when they can unload the cars and how many
are being unloaded.
But yeah, you should be able to find that on marine traffic.
If you just search the ship and it will tell you sort of when it's docking and roughly
how long it's there for, or when it's next voyages.
I have to send a good friend Nash from Oolongong.
Check it out first.
All you've got to do is just tell him there's about half a dozen cyber trucks on that ship
and he will be there.
He'll be there.
He'll be there.
He's probably there right now.
I'm just looking through the comments about when people think BYD will ever take total
in sales in Australia.
Interesting.
We've got a whole range actually.
This right could be June 26 says this person live on.
That's pretty optimistic.
I would think 27, 28.
Yep.
What else we got?
August.
Yep.
2028.
October end of 26, 28, 27.
So if we draw a bell curve, maybe he might land somewhere in 27.
Maybe we'll see.
Well, one thing the BYD management did say, and this is like global vice president Mr.
Lou who was here as well.
And he, one of the things that they were sort of sharing was they really want to grow in
regional Australia.
So they've got 100 plus dealerships now.
They've delivered over 120,000 vehicles to customers.
They have 4,000 plus staff and what they want to do is really look at regional centers.
So customers do not have to travel hundreds of kilometers to get their car serviced or
customers can actually purchase a vehicle and feel confident regardless of, you know,
the many main centers around the country that they live in.
So if they start to do that and become sort of a, you know, it opens a whole huge market
because it's untapped still for where Toyota is pretty much in every town.
So yeah, that's, that's going to be a bit of a challenge.
And they strongly emphasized the parts warehousing that they've established and they'll continue
to grow to ensure that cars can get back on the road if they are involved in an accident
or if there's some sort of a mechanical failure pretty quickly.
So they're growing really rapidly.
But yeah, if they play all the cards right, which it sounds like they really are, BYD
and Denza will become Toyota and Lexus by yeah, 2028 ish.
You've raised some interesting points with any brand in Australia, car or otherwise,
you know, we're a big country, we've got a very spread out population.
So challenges include obviously, you know, covering that spread, covering that dense lack of density,
that sparseness and offers obviously sponsoring a sporting team.
It's important for Australians as well.
As you know, BYD is sponsoring the Roosters for NRO.
Toyota's got, I think got AFL, I mean, you know, that's two big clitons of the sport, right?
So of sport in Australia.
So yeah, I think BYD has certainly done their market research.
All right.
And here's a comment for Joy.
Mac tags us.
Can you please convince my wife to buy a Tesla Y?
What can we do to convince Dubai and EV?
I mean, one of the reasons I first, like, wanted to move into a Model Y was just simply
because at the time, I think it was, I think, one of the safest, if not the safest car
in terms of the Ancap rating.
And if you look at the actual breakdown in terms of like adult occupant safety
and child occupant safety, you know, Tesla in general,
they always rank very, very, very high compared to others.
So even though other cars might be five-star Ancap rating,
if you actually look at the percentage numbers, it might be for other things.
But for Tesla, you know that both those numbers are going to be, you know, 90% or more.
And for me, that's the number one thing, just keeping my family safe when I'm driving.
So yeah, for me, Tesla and safety.
So that would be one reason to buy a Tesla Model Y.
Yep. Well said.
Well said.
I'm seeing Justin saying Canterbury Bulldogs have Gilly.
Oh, there we go.
Well done, Gilly.
There you go.
You've clued on.
What works in Australia?
Well, of every sporting team.
Sorry, there was also a press release, I think, last week.
GAC partnered with Sydney FC.
Yes.
Smart.
Pick a sporting team.
All of the teams.
Pick a sport.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I might see the Zika Seagal soon or what else?
Zika Renegades, maybe?
I don't know.
Something.
GWM, Cherry, so many cars, so many sporting teams.
GWM, I think, has got the Richmond Tigers.
They did like a deal late last year.
And yeah, I think Cherry and all of these Chinese brands, they know that's one way to win customers.
Yep.
South 7G, of course.
It would have been a mouthful to be like GWM, GWS.
It would have been a good match.
Well, actually, is it a good match, right?
That's quite funny.
It's kind of confusing.
Going to Western Great Wall Motor Sydney Giants, right?
That's great.
Sells itself, honestly.
Oh, State of Origin at BYD Stadium.
I'm hearing BYD 1 enter the Formula 1.
I'm hearing this a lot.
Hey, this question was asked to Mr. Liu directly at the round table that we were at yesterday.
Yep.
And he answered it very politically.
He said Formula 1 is a great sort of sport and BYD is about technology.
That's what we want to bring.
I don't have any more news on this, but just watch this based type of thing.
Ooh, very coy.
Very coy.
Have to get Max Verstappen into a BYD.
That'd be cool.
Look at this deep-out dogs.
I love that.
Which dogs?
Like Western Bulldogs?
No.
Yeah, maybe deep-out dogs.
Well, Canterbury's already chilly.
Yeah, yeah.
Now, let's take a quick break and let's just thank our sponsors for this evening.
Not chilly.
We want to thank Kalu.
Thank you, Kalu and Riz and the team for sponsoring the channel.
Thank you very much.
Data to Empower Australia's EV Revolution.
I thought you were going to miss saying that.
I thought I had to jump in for you.
Say it again.
Data to Empower Australia's EV Revolution.
Nice.
Thank you.
All right, let's move on.
We have some Tesla news coming up.
So here we go.
We have Tesla, finally, with a V2L plug in Australia.
Now, just to clarify, the Cybertruck in America already has V2L.
We know that Tesla Model Y Performance has the hardware in America.
It does work there.
But this is officially the first time V2L is available for a Tesla vehicle in Australia,
coming to Model YL, as far as I know.
$145, Roland, I can see on your post there.
Yep, it's honestly not too expensive.
But the only interesting thing is YL and Dimension Performance.
So I'm very keen for if there's any viewers with one, if they're getting one,
test it in your performance and see.
Yeah, that's right.
Yeah, see if it works right.
But we will try to get one for our YL just to be sure.
What should we do with it?
Should we set up a barbecue, like an electric barbecue?
You can make coffee and plug it in or something else.
Your stir fries, Tom, I still remember.
You've got to make an updated stir fry.
Yeah, fly lice.
I think Uncle Roger is proud.
Yep, I'll do that again.
Reprise that.
I'm just reading some of these comments of people.
Yeah, BYD should have sponsored the sharks.
Yeah, Cronola sharks.
That would have made sense.
Yep.
Yep.
Yeah, so we'll try to get that.
It looks pretty low profile there.
Stick it into the Type 2.
You've got that three-point plug at the back.
It's pretty handy.
I know BYD had, when they ship cars, they have like a power board or a multi-plug adapter.
I think they still do.
And that was such an underrated thing in BYD.
You'd get a whole adapter with it, and yeah, it worked really well every time I tested it.
So this is good.
I think it's a positive step, but I'm not sure whether any of this is backward-compatible
with other vehicles, or is it just the Model YL or the performance as well.
So yeah, any viewers and listeners, when you get it, test it and let us know.
We'll test it.
Definitely.
Yep, let us know.
Leon saying, sorry, plug my corded lawn mower into the MG4 last week.
Worked very well.
Excellent.
Sorry, was it Rizzle Rollin?
Yeah, I was just going to mention.
They mentioned something, I think, in the link somewhere that if you used anything else,
any other adapter, you're voiding warranty or we don't guarantee performance or something
along those lines.
So maybe it's in that Tesla post there, but yeah, it was quite interesting.
So they say don't use anything else.
That's fair.
There's the plug upside down.
Yeah, I don't know.
I mean, possibly.
It doesn't matter, right?
Really?
Well, I mean, it's upside down for Australia, isn't it?
Because our PowerPoints are normally the other way around, but from like our recent holiday
when we went to China with the family, it's this way around in China.
Did you notice that?
Yeah, I did.
Yeah.
So maybe we've been wrong all along because obviously we're in the Southern Hemisphere,
so you need to turn it around.
You need to turn it around so it works.
So yeah, maybe we've been the ones.
No, they're wrong.
We're right.
Okay.
I don't know.
As long as it works, I don't care, honestly.
Made for the Southern Hemisphere, that's right.
Upside down.
Charles says, I saw a post explaining why the plug is upside down.
It's intentional.
Something to do with the wires correlate to which pins in the Type 2 socket.
Okay.
Right.
Fair enough.
Okay.
So maybe we should just roll this.
I know it doesn't affect like where it is in a house, but maybe we should just do it
all.
Everyone just turns it upside down there.
Yeah.
Joy, it's upside down because Australia.
But maybe we should think about following the rest of the world.
We're far away for a reason, aren't we?
Yes.
And just back on Tesla.
So yeah, full self-driving two weeks, I think, version 14 is away.
That is a joke, by the way.
We don't know when it's coming, but apparently it's coming soon.
A lot of people have been receiving Tesla correspondence saying it's coming soon.
So hopefully soon.
Apparently it's very good, right?
Keep telling us Tesla, keep telling us version 14 will be very, very good.
So when it comes, we will definitely test it on our while.
So stay tuned.
And I hear hardware three is possibly coming soon as well.
Possibly in another two weeks.
Hardware three FSD.
So another good one to test moving forward.
Yes, Matthew Friday is Tesla Day from historical events.
So we'll see.
Okay.
Yeah, Halibaba offers a lot of Tesla and other EV plugs.
So I mean, just be careful with third party stuff, obviously.
That's our usual disclaimer.
Okay, let's keep moving on.
And it's more Tesla news.
So Charles has got a post for us on X newly opened ACT Charger location.
Nichols ACT four times version four.
Here we go.
Very fresh.
Where's that?
It doesn't look like four.
That looks like more.
And there's some flying sites to apparently due to expansion on the way at Exeter from six to nine from and collect Victoria from three to 10.
Oh, wow.
It's a big one.
And vulnerable.
Yeah.
No, the vulnerable one.
That's very small Charger locations.
Only three there.
Hopefully more at that location.
That's where the, I think the Dan Murphy's is.
Isn't that vulnerable?
That shopping centers.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
Good to see Raymond terrorists.
Okay.
Thanks, Charles.
Always on the ball.
Always reported that construction is underway at a second Heather Brace site.
Great.
Cool.
With the long weekend coming up and school is coming up.
Hopefully we'll get some pictures of these new sites, which is good.
Yes.
Thank you, Charles.
Uncle dance.
Yes.
It is Dan Murphy's.
Thank you for confirming that.
I don't know why I used a bottle shop as a reference point.
It is what it is.
It is Australia.
Oh, Nichols is open.
Thank you.
Thank you for confirming that.
Excellent.
What else have we got?
Um, yeah, James has haven't seen much coverage of Julie X to road shows.
Interesting.
Yes.
Anybody with pics that can tag us next time.
Yeah.
Hmm.
I've not seen it.
So if you do tag us, we'll put it up on the next show.
There's a lot of interest in that car.
And yeah, which is, which is great.
And you know, Julie's doing really, really well.
They're I think up to 60 dealers now as well around the country.
But yeah, they'll be really like good to know when hopefully in early Q3.
Hmm.
Hopefully.
Yeah.
Which is not far away, right?
That's like next month.
Yeah.
BYD apps as G now has a new live map renewal package for the navigation 40 bucks per year.
Okay.
I mean, that's cheaper than Tesla's 14 bucks a month.
I guess something.
Alrighty.
Let's push on.
And yeah, we've got some X paying news now.
So a good spot by Roland here that the looks like X paying have launched a, a parallel
site to two of these sites.
And then we've got two X paying sites in Australia X paying.com slash a you Roland.
Yeah, that looks like to be the official one.
There's actually a bunch more X paying news.
They've like gone out with a commitment that they're here.
And I think I've been following, um, I forgot where it was or someone on Facebook, one of
the groups, but there's been a lot of X paying business registrations like as in X paying
and then the suburb.
So a lot of dealerships have actually been registered in terms of business names over
the past like couple of months.
So there's definitely a massive presence coming in.
Excellent.
Yep.
Lots of movement.
Yep.
New G six.
We want it all.
We want the next nine.
We want the Mona.
We want the P seven, P seven plus G nine.
Bring it all here.
Yeah.
That color.
I love that color that muted lilac color.
Oh, it's falling in love.
Oh, we need to wrap the wire on that color.
Well, a friend of mine, I can't name who was very certain they saw a G six
performance today on the road in Melbourne.
Okay.
Rollers excited with black wheels and it was a black car.
So, you know, me black on black.
When I heard that, I said, I've got, I've got to find it, but it's been so gloomy here.
Can't all cars look black to me.
So yeah, a black performance was spotted in Melbourne in the last couple of days.
So it can't be too fine.
That that press release that came out, I think earlier in the week role and your spot on,
they're talking about parts commitment.
They're talking about, you know, their nationwide dealer rollout.
They've got dealers, I think in five states already that are on board that are ready to
get cars in.
And I guess we will find out a bit more about pricing and other things in the coming week.
So it's pretty certain the new G six will be here soon.
Yeah.
Not, not a day too late or too early.
Yeah.
I think it's, it's well overdue for sure.
Given New Zealand already have the new G six.
So yeah, I mean, you know, it's, they've got a long way to make up ground given what's
happened, obviously with the legal background with the local distributor.
So yeah, interesting times, but good to see the cars hopefully making their way soon.
My wish list is if they can actually get to test their self driving here in this country
because it's so good.
Their tech is so good.
So I guess because like BYD have it in, in China as well, but they're not really talking
about about it.
Are they like none of the other car companies are talking about it, but X-FANG are kind of
Yep.
Hopefully regulations will be passed to allow that.
Yeah.
HK they're already testing G six or drive in Australia.
Yep.
Good.
And yeah, X-FANG need dealerships in regional areas like all new Chinese brands, 100%.
I just want to quickly thank also, there was a super chat.
S H hello.
I'm not sure what currency that is, but it's a hundred or something.
Thank you very much.
What are the resale values that the MGEV for urban at 53 essence?
I mean, looking to get one on November at least better alternative question mark.
I mean, I suppose it's probably too early to tell, right?
That's a very, very new car in Australia.
So it's a pretty affordable car as it is.
And usually affordable cars don't lose that much in value over a period of time, particularly
with the MG, which comes with a 10 year warranty if you get a service to the dealers.
So I guess the resale value really depends on you.
If you get a service by the MG dealers, then it would have whatever the left over warranty
is.
And that could be something very valuable to someone buying it as a used car.
Good point, Riz.
Yeah, I think there's more EVs going the road.
I think the resale value will probably be pretty good.
I think I would have thought if demand is there.
I mean, there's a reason why I told us how we would resale value because people want them, right?
It's kind of logic, I would have thought.
So whenever BYD takeover, no, let's not go there again.
Could be anytime.
All right.
Let's, let's, oh, Indian Rupees.
Thank you.
Thank you, James.
I don't know what the conversion is, but thank you regardless.
Oh, cows got some news apparently.
DPAL SO5 due for August.
Okay.
Not far away.
Local dealer confirmed with me to admit 40s for the DPAL SO5.
That's a, that's good car.
LFP, Rural Drive.
Yep.
All right.
And yes, I can confirm the MGS6 EV embargo ends tomorrow at 9am.
We have a video coming up on that car tomorrow.
So stay tuned.
It's a good, it's a good review.
I can tell you that because we enjoyed having it for 24 hours.
So thank you, MG.
I'll say no more.
All right.
Let's keep going on.
All right.
All right.
Let's keep pushing on.
Let's go to the next bit of news.
So I think someone mentioned this Mazda 6,
Mazda CX6E and Roland, our ADR King has said that it's been improved.
Yep.
And it is coming with the digital exterior mirrors.
So, yeah.
I don't know how I feel yet.
Is that the review mirror or the side mirrors?
So it's both.
So I think in the top spec, you've got both.
I just don't know if it's going to be an option or not,
but it has, it has been approved.
So it could potentially be that it's got that digital mirror
that you can potentially change.
And then the outside is also those cameras.
Yep.
I think they work well at night.
You get a much better view, especially in the rain.
So I don't mind that.
And obviously this car has got the Chang'an pinning.
So this is essentially a DPAL S7, which is a good car.
I'm curious to see if it sells better than the DPAL S7,
Riz, moving forward with the Mazda King.
Yeah.
Just on the digital mirrors, good pick up Roland,
because they actually had a genuine sort of early bird
offer where they were saying a thousand people were going to
get a free upgrade to the top spec model with those digital mirrors.
So that was like, I think $3,000 worth between the two variants.
So yeah, I think a lot of people are going to end up with
those digital mirrors, especially if they were early enough
to order.
So it'd be interesting to see what that looks like.
Can you even opt out?
It'd be like, no, I want my standard mirrors.
So then you get a downgrade.
I do feel that the kind of person who wants to buy a Mazda,
an electric Mazda, is probably because they like change that much,
that they wanted to go to a whole different ecosystem with another end.
So I do wonder whether digital mirrors might be abridged too far as well.
Yeah, but maybe I'm just stereotyping Mazda owners.
I mean, I wouldn't say no if it's knowing it's $3,000.
The inner cheapskate in me is like, oh, yeah, $3,000.
I want it right.
It's a change, though.
Everyone's happy with digital mirrors.
The focal length, yeah, I couldn't think of the word.
Thank you.
The focal length is different, and that takes some getting used to as well.
Fair enough.
It's actually quite a long V.8 meter.
It's 4.85.
So that's actually longer than Tesla Model Y, I think.
It's on the bigger end.
Yeah.
There you go.
All right.
I'm sure it'll drive very well.
I mean, the C drive very well.
So I can't imagine why this wouldn't.
Nice.
Oh, thank you.
Say five ludicrous feed memberships.
Thank you very much.
Welcome to the channel for those who've benefited.
Edge case saying digital mirrors is not so popular in China.
I mean, they are expensive.
Are they potentially solving a problem that's not really there, right?
I mean, mirrors work pretty well.
Usually.
Usually.
Nobody uses mirrors in China.
Yes.
If you ever sat in a DT, you'll understand that comment.
This guy's a wild.
Anyone know when the Avatar 7 is coming to us?
That's a great question.
I don't have any intel on that, unfortunately.
I'm not public anyway.
Look, I've got some intel and advertise certainly confirmed for our market.
And I've heard vis-vis that there may be some announcement in the coming ones.
So if I was a betting man, which I'm not more into climbing up vessels, then it's
likely to be in Q4.
So not sure about this Avatar 7 itself, but one of the models will be announced and
maybe a couple more to follow.
So exciting times.
They're beautiful cars.
They are very nice cars.
Yes, especially the one to the midlife crisis car to compete with the denser Z 9 GT and
all those beautiful cars.
Now, we know Riz is more of a Rolls Royce kind of man.
This is what he's going to trade in his spectre for, the Rolls Royce Mark II, the
Spectre Mark II.
That's exactly it.
Now, I've told my chauffeur to order me too.
But he can pick the color that generous.
This green called R.I.
But with the stargaze, I'm not too sure where they would actually match.
So that's what I thought.
I'll share it here with everybody else so they can tell me which color should we buy.
To be fair, unlike the Luce, the Ferrari Luce, Rolls Royce have actually, they've actually
kept to the spirit of Rolls Royce.
You look at this interior, you know, this is the Rolls Royce, the wood grain, the
styling, you know, it's just screams expensive.
So I think they've done a great job honestly.
And being lucky enough to have driven one and Joyce sat in one, I think, you know, yeah,
it's a good car.
Whether it's worth a million bucks, I mean, it's not, you know, not in my league, but
Riz, I mean, is it worth a million bucks?
You tell me.
As soon as Rolls Royce adds more power to a car that, you know, basically is a living
breathing Titanic.
It just means that it's going to float better on the road and that isolation inside that
cabin is, I don't know if I'll be able to get a Tesla reception in there in the new
version.
So we'll find out.
So Tom, you may have to call me when I get out of the car.
But yeah, look, this car actually has done a lot for that brand.
This is probably one of the most successful transitions of a brand that you would not
think that makes jet turbine engines and a whole lot of other things that they would
transition to electric in such a way.
Yeah.
I think Rolls Royce credit to them.
Yeah.
Pauline says screams old fashioned to me.
That's, I think that's what they want.
They want to scream old fashioned, right?
They're keeping that legacy and just a bit of trivia here.
This stripe here, this pin stripe is painted by one person.
He paints the same stripe on all Rolls Royce vehicles.
He's been doing for the last, I think 18 to 20 years now at Goodwood in the UK.
So this is what makes Rolls Royce special.
I've got his name.
It's the same guy doing it.
Bit of trivia for you guys.
Does it come with a bonza lounge pass?
Surely for a million bucks, you get lifetime bonza lounge access.
I'm trying to bundle in a BYD vessel and a bonza lounge pass with every purchase in Australia.
I'm trying to organize, coordinate this deal with Rolls Royce.
Oh, that, that looks cool.
Yeah.
That's cool.
That's cool.
It pops in and out.
This, this RR stays upright.
I mean, that's cool little things like that.
The Stargazer in the car, that's cost, cost as much as a Corolla.
I mean, you know, it's all there.
It's all there for high net worth individuals like us.
Remember the quiz we had to do?
What was it, Tom, before you got a chance to?
Oh, yeah.
I got, I got quizzed by Rolls Royce in Australia.
How many high net worth individuals are on your channel that watch you guys regularly?
And I said, I don't know.
No one's ever told me they're a high net worth individual.
I'm sure there are some of you out there with $30 million in assets, US dollars that is.
Let us know that we can get more Rolls Royce's through review.
But yeah, it's a good looking car.
I like it.
Live like a king for a day.
I'll just live in Riz's one when he gets it.
Oh, geez.
Now on the other end of the spectrum, this is the Kia PV5.
That will be transporting plebs like us to see the Rolls Royce.
That was such a transition, Tom.
Thank you, Roland.
That's much better.
Segways, spotted at the docks.
Which dock is this?
I don't know, some dock.
Yeah, don't know.
Oh, gosh, I can see some Tasman's behind it.
Oh, the Vert Thine Eyes.
So ugly.
But there's the PV5.
Yes, that's it.
So it is just the commercial ones.
Still no signs of the passenger ones.
Fingers crossed it'll come.
It'd be a good competition, I think, if they do end up getting the passenger version here.
But yeah.
It's a 50 something thousand.
That's a pretty good value.
For a cargo van it is.
And this is in person.
I've seen it a couple of the fleet shows.
It's a great little thing.
They've done a really good job with it.
Yeah, you're right.
If the passenger one comes, it's already in Europe, so hopefully.
But this is sort of the first commercial version is sort of the first one to come.
Which I think is, yeah, really, really good value.
Yeah, so one of the, was a smart energy expo recently.
Yeah, looks good.
The interior looks really good, actually.
Passes my interior snob test.
I like it.
Yeah, I agree.
Lightning, a camper van conversion.
That would be really good.
There's someone on YouTube, I watched one.
And it was in Korea.
I think it was a passenger conversion one.
It was very nice.
If it's plush, I'm happy to do it.
Do it for the show.
Yeah, looks cool.
I agree.
Not very good at all.
That's as in the account name is called not very good at all.
He said looks cool.
Yeah, gotta clarify that.
Now about partner with individuals.
So Sensei only has 29.9 million.
So count me out, he says.
And if you have to ask, says Jean, you don't deserve to know.
That's fair.
That's fair.
It's like walking to an expensive watch shop, I guess.
Partner with individuals don't reveal how much they are.
That's true.
And you can get a retractable sunroof with Rolls-Royce
fiber OPTIQ style roof, meteors, Bluetooth voice
for the Model 3 and Y.
Can you really?
$2,000 to $3,000.
That is all.
That's like a tenth the price of the Rolls-Royce.
If anyone has that accessory, let us know.
I love to see that, actually.
All right.
Yeah.
Well, let's finish up the show and just want to share this
from one of our good friends, Mark Lampert on LinkedIn asks,
I'll just read this out.
Mark says, hello, everyone.
I just need some help from my network on this one.
And my network now includes all you guys and girls on the show.
I'm looking to rent a loan of Volkswagen Australia ID
Buzz or VW ID Buzz as a surprise for my wife's uncle's
90th birthday.
He has always loved his combi, which has sadly sat idle
on his driveway for a number of years.
I want to surprise him and then take him for a drive with my kids
around the local Mornington area.
Also, everyone sets up for the party.
So he needs it from the 26th to the 29th.
It's very hard to rent this vehicle.
I've looked myself on EV and other sort of car sharing
platform.
So if you have one in Melbourne or somewhere in the
Mornington Peninsula, yeah, reach out to Mark on LinkedIn
or let us know.
We can pass it on.
That'd be a great, great little gift.
For his wife's uncle.
So let us know.
Make Mark's day.
All righty.
Well, gents, if there's nothing else, we might wrap it up there.
Thank you, Riz.
Free time as always.
Thanks, Joy, Tom, Roland, everyone.
It's been good.
There's lots of good news, and I think a lot more coming up.
Absolutely.
Thank you, Roland.
Good to see you again today.
Likewise.
Thanks, family.
Thanks, everyone.
Thank you.
And yes, 20% just recapping 20% of new car sales this month
was EVs.
That's fantastic, isn't it?
I'll put it on with the top selling cars.
Just one last little comment.
Lord Nubius has asked me multiple times in the live stream
comments around exactly.
So what are the EV sales stats without like commercial?
I will get those numbers for us for next live stream.
But if I was just to take a hunch, I'd say it would be over 35%
if you exclude youths and the rest of it.
So, but anyway, I could be entirely wrong.
So let me do the crunch numbers and we'll be back next live stream.
So thank you for the question.
Great question indeed.
All righty.
Well, thank you, Joy.
And thank you everyone for joining us.
Great show as always.
Very informative and nice to see you all as well.
We saw over 300 viewers live at one stage.
So that just shows you the interest in the EVs at the moment.
So very good.
Okay.
Well, thanks for joining us everyone and we shall see you all
at the next live stream.
Bye for now.
Happy charging.
Thank you.
