Volvo trucks
Volvo Trucks makes commercial trucks, not passenger cars. Here they’re talking about Volvo’s electric trucks that are built in Australia.
Topic
Aussie made hundred percent electric trucks
They’re talking about fully electric trucks that are made in Australia. That matters because it can make it easier for local businesses to buy and support EV trucks.
That number (540 kilowatt-hours) is how much energy the truck’s battery can store. Bigger battery usually means the truck can go farther, especially when it’s hauling heavy loads.
Range is how far the electric truck can drive before it needs charging. They’re saying it can do about 300 km, which is important because heavy hauling uses a lot of battery.
Towing capacity is the maximum weight the truck can pull. If you’re towing 50 tons, the battery has to work much harder, so range can drop compared with empty or light loads.
BYD is a big EV brand (mostly from China) that sells electric cars. The hosts are talking about how many they’re selling and whether they might pass Toyota in monthly sales.
The Tesla Model Y is an electric SUV made by Tesla. The hosts are saying it sold so well in Australia that it set a record for the most sales in a month.
Term
all-time sales board
They mean a record list of the biggest sales month ever. In this case, they’re saying the Tesla Model Y did better than any previous month in Australia.
A press release is an official statement a company sends out to the media. Here, the hosts are debating whether it came out right after people discovered the price.
The Kia EV4 is an electric car model that’s being talked about as a smaller option. The podcast mentions it because it could be a more practical EV choice for people who don’t want a large SUV. It’s part of the growing list of electric cars becoming available.
The Chery QQ3 is a small, lower-cost car. It’s the kind of vehicle people consider when they want something simple and affordable. The podcast mentions it as part of the broader conversation about what cheap cars are available.
The Zeekr 7X is an electric car made by Zeekr. The podcast says it received a Guinness world record, which is a way to draw attention to the model. It’s mentioned because it’s an EV that’s been in the news for a specific achievement.
Term
vla
They mention “VLA” as an add-on that could affect the car’s competitiveness and price. The episode snippet doesn’t explain what VLA means, so you’d need the next part (or a fuller transcript) to know exactly what feature it is.
Munich is referenced as the location of an event tied to a global EV launch. For listeners, this matters because launch events often reveal pricing, trims, and availability for new models.
They’re talking about the “mid-sized crossover” category—cars that are bigger than a compact but smaller than a full-size SUV. The idea is that if the EV is priced right, it could appeal to lots of regular buyers.
Sydney is where the hosts say the EV was spotted, implying real-world testing or early presence before official release. Sightings like this can hint at timing and where a model may be delivered or demonstrated.
They’re talking about Albury, a town in New South Wales, where they saw an EV being tested. It’s notable because it suggests EV activity isn’t limited to big cities.
A Tesla Supercharger is a fast electric-car charging station network. The speaker mentions it because the spotted EV was seen at one of these chargers in Australia.
Term
five-seater suvs
A five-seater SUV is just an SUV with seats for five people. The host is saying that most people want that kind of family space, not necessarily a third-row setup.
A Range Rover is a large, expensive SUV made for comfort and a premium feel. People talk about it because it’s a common choice for buyers who want a luxury vehicle. It can come up when discussing what kinds of cars are popular before electric cars enter the conversation.
The BMW X5 is a luxury SUV model from BMW. The point of mentioning it is that lots of people already buy big European SUVs, so EVs in that same “family SUV” space can sell well.
Seven seats means the SUV has a third row so it can carry more people. The host is pointing out that most of these SUVs are five-seat, with seven-seat versions being less common.
The BMW iX is an electric SUV from BMW. It’s meant to feel like a high-end, comfortable car while running on electricity. It’s brought up because it’s an example of an EV you can actually see on the road.
A “full EV platform” means the car was designed for electric power from the beginning. That often helps the cabin fit better and can make the floor flatter compared with converting an older gas-car design.
A “transmission hump” is a bump in the floor inside the car. It usually happens when parts of the drivetrain need space there, and in an EV it can mean the interior isn’t as flat as you might expect.
A “luxury car tax” is an extra tax the government charges on expensive cars. If an EV’s price lands above the threshold, it can get much more expensive for buyers.
The BMW iX3 is an electric SUV from BMW. It’s the kind of EV people compare against other electric SUVs when talking about driving feel and everyday usability.
A shooting break is a wagon-style car, but with a more “sporty” sloped back. It’s meant to look like a coupe while still being practical for carrying people and cargo.
Tariffs are extra taxes when a product is shipped into a country. The host is saying those taxes might change how expensive the car ends up being in Australia.
Mazda 6e is an upcoming Mazda electric car. The hosts haven’t tested it yet in this segment, but they’re saying it’s coming to their channel for a drive and review.
The Toyota RAV4 is a popular SUV model. In this segment, the hosts bring up its high price to argue that some EVs can cost less than a legacy-brand SUV.
LFP is a type of EV battery. It’s known for being durable and generally safer than some other battery types, and it’s common in many value-focused EVs.
The Alpina B10 is a high-performance luxury sedan. It’s based on a larger BMW platform but tuned by Alpina to feel quicker and more special. The podcast brings it up to explain where another car would fit in size and category.
“11 kilowatt AC” refers to the maximum onboard charging power the car can accept from an AC (alternating current) charger. Higher AC charging power generally means faster charging when using compatible home or public AC infrastructure.
This is the car’s maximum fast-charging power on DC chargers. If you find a compatible fast charger, it can recharge quicker than AC charging, but the real speed can vary.
All-wheel drive means the car powers more than just the front or rear wheels. That usually helps it grip better on slippery roads, so it can feel more stable and confident in bad weather.
The Kia EV3 is Kia’s electric car. They’re talking about how much it costs and what it’s like to drive, including whether it has all-wheel drive and how big the battery is—both affect how far it can go and how well it grips the road.
“81 kilowatt hours” is how big the EV’s battery is. A bigger battery usually means you can drive farther before needing to recharge, though real range still depends on how you drive.
The Kia EV6 is an electric SUV made by Kia. Some versions are all-wheel drive, meaning power goes to more than one set of wheels for better traction. It comes up in EV discussions because it’s a popular, widely available electric model.
A 360 camera is a set of cameras that gives you a top-down view around the car. It makes parking easier because you can see what’s close to the vehicle from multiple angles.
Dynamic parking guidelines are the parking lines on the screen that shift as you steer. They’re meant to show where your car will go so you can park more safely.
The Kia EV5 is an electric SUV. The podcast mentions it because it’s available in higher-spec versions with more features. It’s part of Kia’s range of electric cars aimed at different needs and sizes.
The Kia EV9 is a big electric SUV with room for more passengers. It’s designed for families or anyone who needs extra space. The podcast mentions it when talking about higher-end versions and what features you can get.
The Genesis GV60 is an electric SUV made by Genesis. It’s designed to be a smaller, more agile EV compared with bigger electric SUVs. The podcast mentions it because it’s one of the brand’s EV models and can come in higher-performance versions.
That’s how big the EV’s battery is, measured in kilowatt-hours. Bigger battery usually means you can drive farther before recharging, but it depends on how you drive and how efficient the car is.
Range is how far the EV is expected to go on one full charge—here they’re quoting about 560 km. Real driving can be more or less depending on conditions like weather and how fast you drive.
The e-GMP platform is Hyundai/Kia’s shared “EV building system.” It’s the underlying design that helps support things like bigger batteries and faster charging in compatible models.
This is the maximum speed the EV can charge at a fast charger—measured in kilowatts. More kilowatts usually means faster charging, but the exact time still depends on the battery and conditions.
Term
10 to 18 in 18 minutes
They’re talking about how quickly the car can add charge at a fast charger. The exact numbers are a bit unclear in the transcript, but the takeaway is that it’s designed to gain a lot of usable battery in roughly 18 minutes.
Torque is the “pulling strength” of the motor, measured in newton-meters. Higher torque usually means the car can accelerate harder and feel quicker, especially from a standstill.
Boost mode is a setting that makes the car feel more powerful for a short time. It’s usually temporary and can be limited by things like battery temperature or traction.
Genesis is a luxury car brand. When the podcast says “Genesis with an update,” it means the brand has changed or improved something in its cars. It’s relevant because updates can affect what buyers can choose from.
A “coupé SUV” is basically an SUV that looks more like a coupe, with a sloped roof. It’s usually meant to look sportier, even if it can mean less headroom than a boxier SUV.
WLTP is a standardized test used to estimate how far an EV can go on a charge. It’s meant to make range numbers comparable between different cars, even though real-world results can still be different.
Term
batteries are from china
They’re talking about where the EV batteries come from, specifically China. Some countries use battery origin as part of rules or incentives for buying and selling EVs.
Geely is a car company from China. They’ve been pushing into electric vehicles, and they’re being discussed as a brand that could sell EVs in Australia.
This sounds like the host means Chery, a Chinese car maker. They make electric cars, and the discussion is about which Chinese brands could sell in Australia.
A roll cage is a strong safety frame inside the car. It helps protect you if the car flips or crashes hard, and it usually makes the cabin feel more “race-car” and less easy to get into.
The Tesla Roadster is an electric sports car from Tesla. The host is saying it traces its design roots to the Lotus Elise, and that matters because it affects how the car feels and how you enter/exit it.
The Lotus Elise is a small, lightweight sports car that’s known for being very fun to drive. The host is comparing it to the Tesla Roadster’s roots, saying the Roadster is based on that kind of lightweight sports-car idea.
Horizon is a name the host uses for a Geely-related EV brand or division. They’re talking about it in the context of expanding EVs for commercial buyers in Australia.
Term
pickup truck configuration
It just means the way the truck is built—like whether it has an open cargo area or a more enclosed rear. Think “what kind of truck body is it?”
A cab chassis is basically the truck’s driver area plus the frame, without a finished cargo body. Builders can then add the right “work” attachment for the job.
“Tesla plugs” refers to Tesla charging connectors/cables used to charge Tesla vehicles. In this story, they’re saying the suspect was caught with multiple Tesla charging-related items.
They’re talking about a pickup truck they drive—most likely a Ford Ranger. The transcript sounds a bit garbled, but it’s clearly a Ranger-type vehicle.
Surplus solar means your solar system makes more electricity than you need right now. That extra power can sometimes be used to charge an EV instead of going to waste.
The Dodge Charger is a car known for strong performance and a sporty look. It’s the kind of vehicle people associate with “muscle car” style driving. It may be mentioned because there are updates or changes affecting the Charger’s future.
Huawei is a big tech company. In this segment, the host is mentioning it alongside EV brands, suggesting Huawei is involved in the EV space through partnerships or related products.
Stellantis is a big car company that owns multiple brands. Here, the host is saying it still keeps some of those brands active in Australia even if others are leaving.
GWM is a car company (Great Wall Motor) that makes EVs and sells them in different countries. Here, they’re talking about how GWM exports a lot of cars, but it’s not showing up high in the local sales rankings yet.
Xiaomi is best known for phones and other gadgets, but it’s also getting into electric cars. In this segment, they’re wondering how well Xiaomi EVs are doing and whether they’ll show up in export and sales lists.
Car
Sky Nomad
The Sky Nomad is Xiaomi’s third vehicle, and the hosts describe it as a large, full-size SUV-style EV. They also mention it’s over 5.3 meters long, which signals a big, family-oriented footprint.
Term
five or seven seated
“Five or seven seated” just means how many people can ride in the car. Some SUVs are set up for 5 passengers, while others have extra seats for 7.
The BYD Seagull is an affordable electric car from BYD. The hosts are talking about how it’s sold in Australia under another name and how big it is compared to the current car they’ve been discussing.
The Atto One is the name Australians hear for this BYD small electric car. The hosts are comparing its size and interior space, including how the trunk takes up room.
In car terms, the boot is the enclosed storage area at the back of the vehicle (the trunk). The episode uses it to explain why the car feels small overall while the passenger space still works out reasonably well.
Term
compact suv territory
“Compact SUV territory” means the car is getting big enough that it starts to feel like a small SUV class. The hosts are using length as a clue for how spacious it will feel compared with smaller hatchbacks.
The Ford F-150 Lightning is an electric pickup truck. Even though it’s a truck, it can accelerate quickly because it runs on electricity. The podcast brings it up because it’s an example of an EV that still fits truck buyers’ needs.
Here, “Berlin” is where the cars are being made. Where a car is built can affect how quickly it shows up and what it costs.
Topic
goodwood debut
This means the car was first shown at a big car event in Goodwood. It’s a common place for manufacturers to debut new models.
Term
peak electricity usage
“Peak electricity usage” means the time when the most people are using power. Power companies have to be ready for that busy time, and it can get expensive if they use gas to fill the gap.

Part of the world. I think a bonds allowance somewhere too. We'll see what where whether she can disclose where she's coming from
Okay, let's put our first
Quick up on the screen. So this is where
Joy and I've been over the school holidays
So in Brisbane recently joined myself we're invited to Volvo trucks to have a look at their Aussie made hundred percent electric trucks
How good is this?
You know, these things are heavy-duty
540 kilowatt hour battery packs can travel 300 k's of range. I think with with the towing capacity of 50 tons
That's with all 50 tonne haulage
But yes, so it's pretty impressive and yeah, it looks like box would be the first customers as well. So great to
See the production up there in in white coal. I think it's called in Brisbane
Southwest
Yeah, so doing some good things there over trucks. So great. Thank you very much for the invite to Volvo trucks
and of course we missed the
Evie sales
Numbers for this month
We didn't have a live stream couple weeks ago
But as you can see from the driven article and several articles around town 23.4 percent is a new Australian record for Evie sales
In Australia and that's on the back of a record of all car sales as well
For the month of June 2026. So it is phenomenal record. Isn't it really honestly? That's you kind of
Yeah, it's it's you know, we've seen over 30,000 sales now
It'd be good to sort of get a consistency between 20 and 30,000 plus sales every month now
You know, there's some brands that are going out there and saying this is just a blip
Particularly the legacy car makers, but I don't think it is I think the pennies dropped and people want cleaner cheaper electric cars
There's a few models we're talking about on the show tonight that are I think, you know
Milestone models in terms of pricing and the tech they deliver. So I think this is sort of here to stay
Yeah
Was that BYD
Only 234 sales short of Toyota now
We obviously speculate a lot on the stream when BYD will overtake Toyota in terms of number of sales for the month
But we were pretty close rolling this month
I think it's coming one is the one to look at especially with all of the cars coming like all of the ones will be talking about as well
Now now be honest BYD did say their operations managers. Look, it's it's probably not to be written
But um, yeah, look at like
They're under calling it. Hopefully we'll see hopefully we'll see them do another big month for July 2026
I can see joy in the studio there. Just give us a wave joy if you're ready to come on
Yeah, she is okay. Cool. Let's bring joy or dream
Coming from a mysterious bonzalem somewhere in the world. Hello, Joey. How are we?
Hello
Is this on?
Zoom call entrant. It's on. We can hear you
What in there deserts?
Wow, wow, you're making me jealous it is I didn't get any
As soon as it landed on the table, I I just did a runner and I'm I just picked it up and ran off
Yeah, you can tell live streams. That's that's
Yeah
All right apology to the people I was talking to but I just stopped and left
All right, we'll uh, we'll let you keep bunching on that and we'll keep chatting and just chime in whenever you want
Uh, it is a remote joy says for the verbs. Yes, it's about time joy got our own studio
Yes, I've been saying she should definitely get her own window. So we'll see we'll see what happens from here on
And our dessert as well. I think needs to make an appearance every week. I'll be up for that
Uh, yeah, we were just saying yes, toda was very close to being topped for the month
by byd 234 cars short, which is a phenomenal effort
Probably due in part to their large ship that arrived obviously in australia last month. So lots of cars coming in
Uh, evs saying yes, just spent a week in Perth noticing many evs on the road the last trip. I agree
I think anecdotally we're seeing a lot more cars on the road for sure
Um, and yeah, melbourne also the same says camos. It's good. Good to hear reports on the ground as well
Uh, yes and
What have we got here says tony says yama. Yeah, it looks good. Joy's dessert does look good
indeed
all right, let's push push and
Yes, uh, the other headlight. So for that month was that obviously tesla model y broken the all-time
sales board uh in australia, uh, and
Yeah, blinker again any powertrain for the second month running from i'm a left over to left, honestly, uh,
To that do that twice in a row in australia. So we are on the way to doing good things in this country
um
Okay, and the news this week, uh, which dropped drop day. I think it was yesterday. I'm losing track here the gila ex2
uh, finally seeing was announced
26,490 dollars
uh starting from
4,000 4,500 dollars more for the uh in our spec
30,990 dollars. So finally the is over. This has been announced for this cute little
drive ev from g
And uh, yeah, obviously a few comments on our video as well
I think the general vibe that we got was that it's probably more expensive than uh, a lot of people are expecting
And certainly what more than what we were thinking on the stream as well. We were hoping under 25 grand what we guys and girls
Yeah, and uh, you know roland, I'd like to get your take on this
Do you think this press release conveniently came out after someone actually found the pricing and
Some code hidden somewhere
Uh, you know, unless this is yeah, it's that or it's an insider job
Yeah, that's right
Uh, I'm voting insider job. Surely these things are leaked internally
I wonder if it was just like just tease just to see what people think the people
And then they're like, oh, it's sort of where we expected it to be. Let's release the press release. Yeah. Yeah
I'd like to get your thoughts to roland and riz. Enjoy. I mean, look, I think I think a lot of people were expecting
It to be a lot cheaper. I think the car itself is fine. There's nothing wrong with the car. We all know that
But we will hope a lot of people were hoping for this to beat the b y d ato one
We're just 23 grand at the moment before on roads
Is the price justified? That's the question, right? Is it worth $3,000 more? Sure. It's a real drive
Sure, it's a bigger car. I guess we we've driven it. Well, some of us are driven in china. We are on short drives
But really obviously we'd like to see how this drives in australia in sydney and melbourne on our roads
So i'm curious to see for myself how it drives here
Thoughts overpriced just right
like to your thoughts
I thought that it was going to be the prices at like that you see on screen there as the drive away cost
at most
I think when we were originally talking we were saying top spec under 30 drive away
and
Maybe a lot of people were thinking that as well. I see a lot of comments people saying the gac that i on ut
as
Better value. I mean haven't haven't obviously driven this one, but it'd be a good comparison once that comes out
Agreed roland and not just the on ut people are saying well actually, you know
3990 plus on roads for the inspire spec you're creeping up to like the mg4 evi urban at 31. Yeah, um, you know
Um, and look, I know it's a bigger car. It's a different segment, but you know money is money
So I can understand where they're coming from
Yeah, it's um and joy. What do you think you've obviously driven this in china with tom?
I think it's one of those cars that people have been waiting for and expecting it to be
Cheaper I think also because they know well they kind of guessed
Based on what the pricing was in other markets going like well it sells for this much in like I think it's thailand
I think is it?
Um, and so they were you know just trying to do like kind of like a price conversion. They're going oh my goodness
This is going to end up being really cheap. And so because it hasn't met
That super cheap expectation
um, I think they're feeling disappointed, but
I mean for me personally
um
I'd like a real drive. I'm willing to pay a bit more of a premium for a real drive
But not you know, I can understand not everybody like cares about whether it's real drive or not
So I think it's just one of those things where you just have to you know
Drive the cars that were kind of like in that price point that you were looking at and then decide
Is it worth more than the other ones I was looking at?
Because I feel like people were just waiting for this one and holding out on their decision as to which one of these kind of like
Smaller cars they were going to buy like the smaller
Cheaper cars they were going to buy and so now as you're saying they're looking at the ion ut they're looking at the mg
Like ev4 urban like suddenly like all the other ones
They're like oh, maybe I don't need to hold off anymore. Maybe I can just get the one that's already on the market
Yep, some people even saying well look for what is it $5,000 more you can get a jku j5
They're looking further afield, right?
Um, and there's someone saying well, I'm gonna hang out for like the cherry qq3 now
mg2 you know stuff like that
Yeah, I think it's good. um, we're stunned to see this field
Getting becoming more fledged, you know with more more cars like this
Um, and and making cars like the urban more more attractive. So I think it's a good thing good for consumers
Um, yeah, I guess we'll have to toughly test it in sydney on the drive day coming up and we'll give you our thoughts finally
on the rural roads
Uh, but in the meantime, you had leave those comments about the ex2 in this video and also on our video as well and others
Around to get to get thoughts on the x2. I think you know, obviously gily read our comments and read your comments about feedback
Uh on the pricing
But yeah, we'll see we'll see because I mean I was I personally was expecting to be less because
The ex5 was a game changer, right when it came out
It was you know, it was crazy money for a 4.6 meter car and we thought gily would pull the same stunt
Look at the sales that gily ex5 has been getting like last month. I think that sold more than 2000
For a car that's like almost what is it 15 months?
Into its life now
um
One thing I'd like to see in this car is the infotainment system
And the 8s because in the refreshed ex5
I feel that
They could have done a bit more
to mute some of the
Bings and bongs that it was getting so I'd be really curious to see what this is like
um
Because yeah, I think that's that's an important consideration for some people
So test drive a couple of these hatchbacks and see which one you feel most comfortable with
That's good point reason I think a lot of people with the job
have
You know price for everything at the price range
We like to live cars or I said it may not matter to people they'll be able to appreciate the difference regardless of what it is
Maybe maybe it's not rotten
You know this at this price range prices everything we shall see
Uh, I'm just looking at this comment here
And a drift now this actually is a good segue because I saw this today. I'm sure those of you are subscribed to zika's
um
Zika's emails you might have seen this today
Zika 7x has earned a Guinness world record title for the tightest gap
Passed through whilst driving electric suv
So it says here they've just got the title for the tightest gap pass through while drifting in electric suv
Successfully passing through a gap with an astonishing clearance of just 25 centimeters
Riz, I'm pretty sure you know who would have done this drift. We all know this gentleman
Oh, look, there's there's only 11 guy
Ray himself, but I mean that's uh, it's pretty impressive for a two-plus ton car
Uh, the audio is glitching. I'm sorry. How's that is that still glitching? Hopefully it's
Okay, well keep pushing put if it's a bull, I will try another channel
Um, but yes, uh, good to see that
Yes, it was ray, of course says darryl. That is very true
Uh, was it rolling it doesn't say who it was actually
Yeah, no not me not this one. I'll wait for the next record
I
I'll um, I'm sorry my business. I will keep pushing on. Hopefully it doesn't
Uh, any things
No, but uh, I'll put the next one which is this wasp
So, uh, joy. My favorite is uh, we were at the recent, uh, x-pane
Grand Day
Here now in hq
Uh, yi huang zhou and then we were knowing after that
That there it is some of our
Tom
Here in guang zhou seeing some of their cars in as it was pretty cool
Uh, of course check out our no lo 3 as well
Um, which we got to have a look at before the global release, which is great
But uh, thank you to x-pane for hosting us
Last month, um
Just just touching on x-pane quickly tom just before the live stream. I picked up on our
drive.com.au article
That said that
x-pane australia has said they will look after every
Customer that has the outstanding cashback the $5,000 cashback that was offered to them by truivi
That obviously was not fulfilled by truivi. So x-pane australia has said that they will work with individual customers and anyone that's interested
x-pane
And that customer
Hotline or actually the email address which is in those articles. So anyone that's interested jump on a drive.com.au
Have a look at that article, but it looks like x-pane is doing quite a lot to
Work with those customers that felt, you know that they
Hadn't been looked after by truivi as such. So, uh, yeah, keep an eye out and uh, yes, please share this info out there
That's great. That's good. And yeah, that's very very good to see x-pane looking after their customers as well
I don't know how many customers were up for a $5,000
Rebate who do we have numbers on that? I would say probably a few hundred I would think from last year
Yeah, don't know the exact numbers, but I you know if they sold over 2,000 cars there would be a few hundred in there
Yep
Excellent. All right. Uh, yes. Thanks, Roland got the uh link there
x-pane footing the for truivi $5,000 cashback. That's that's the first step first step of many to
to win back customers
for the trust they need
Uh, sensei's been a member for nine months. Thanks sensei and who built the granny flag if back here until well
We'll uh, we'll let you know maybe keep guessing
Keep guessing a good good developer surely
Who wouldn't pick someone dodgy?
Um, yes, thanks. Oh, yes. Great for the x-pane HQ team looking after customers. Absolutely
Okay, um
And yeah, deal direct x-pane. Well, yeah, you will be pretty soon. Um, factory is coming
Stay tuned
Oh evu review says if they bring the updated g7 a monolo 3 all will drive. I'm happy had my zika 7x performance. Wow big call
huge call
Okay, uh now sticking with x-pane news
We have
So this thing we missed as well in the last couple of weeks because we were away
So these are the prices for the g6. They are obviously now confirmed
Uh, if you are listening on the audio podcast, we've got real drive standard range from 51,800, which is very competitive
real drive long range from 56,800
And all drive performance 63,800. So guys, I think this is actually quite competitive
For this segment of the market very impressive
The question is though, will it have the touring trips touring chips required for uh
For the vla 2 that is a big question. Everyone's lips
Um, we've got nothing got no info on this. So we will ask them next time we see them
Um
Um
Thanks calf my audio is much better apparently. Thank you
So does this set the stage for what the mono is going to be priced at?
because
50 front 800
What are we guessing 48 888 as a starting price? So
Remember, we're not allowed to call it the mono. We have to call it the lo 3 lo 3. That's right. Correct
Correct. Well, look, I think we join our guest 45 when we looked at the moaner the lo 3 in beijing
um
You know, I think if they can do 45 with vla thrown in that would be very competitive. So
There is an event being held in munich as part of a global launch on the 16th so tomorrow
Uh, european time
So I guess we'll have a few more details on what they're planning on doing with this particular
xpeng alo 3 globally and what variants will be available. So then we can
Maybe have a better stab at the prices next week
I'll tell you what if if they priced out of three correctly that will just up in that mid-sized crossover segment
Uh, because this will be very compelling because xpeng's obviously the they keep telling us they're a tech company
They're an ai company not a car company, right? So they're doing a tesla in that regard
So it's a that they're an ai company and bring bring the vla to australia. So watch this space. I say
All right, uh pushing on now more xpeng news now. Have a look at this
Speaking of the lo 3 look at this. Thanks roland for
For these photos, uh, this was spotted in sydney in pier mod
Have a look at this. Yes. My good friend jeff sent it spotted in the city and I was shocked
Very quick
And well well identified as well, um
You know, it does look a bit like a post out the front of the store
Right, right. So to identify this as a mono or lo 3 is is very good. Well done
um
And yeah, look honestly, you know when I when I um, we've heard the product presentation. They kept saying it's it's like
It's very muscular. It's um, it's like a it's a hyper car or a super car kind of look
And if you know, they always have these superlatives when we do we sit in these product specs
But you know, actually in real life, it does look quite muscular
It's got quite nice detail around the car around the back. So I can see where they're coming from
It's not a bad looking car
Um
Okay, yes. So yes, that's the lo 3 spotted in sydney. That's great
Um and one more thing spotted in sydney as well. In fact, it's not not sydney new south wales. This is
This is quite the find. I can't believe this was actually spotted. This is the x-pang
g9l
testing at a tesla supercharger in albury new south wales
posted by alexa
on
I'm also shocked they identified this as the
G9l to be honest
And i'm shocked it's in the country too. It's uh, it's pretty impressive
so
Yeah, and then let the flagship suv wars begin
Well, that's what's exciting right like in the sense that
This model hasn't really
I only seen a couple of photos of it on chinese social media in the last two days
And it's already in the country
So, yeah, I mean they're gonna be going after all segments from the
sounds of things
So, yeah, it's uh, quite interesting roland joy. What do you think?
Let's join that first
I gotta unmute myself see I remember to unmute myself. I'm still trying to enjoy my dessert
Yeah, I don't know like I just feel with these like slightly
bigger cars
There's
There's less less people that want to buy it right like it's a much smaller market
It's like the mid-size suv
So, I mean, I'm glad that they're having
multiple models because it just makes a brand
Seem bigger when they've got more than one offering. I feel you know, so even if it's just kind of like that
That placebo effect of like having lots of different different models
um
I think that's a that's only a good thing. But in terms of how many they'll actually sell like
What the everyone's buying the uh test the model y isn't it like that's the size of the car at least that they're gonna buy
Are people gonna buy a bigger car?
um
Just before you go roland, um, we have someone saying it's uh not released in china yet. That's true
And it's apparently a g9 not a g9. I I can't see seats there are in the back
But uh, yeah, it's hard to tell obviously from this pick
So we shall
Yeah, roland thoughts if this is the g9. I mean, this is
Do as well like a bigger like a full-size suv
I think it was sold pretty well to be honest assuming they get the price right and the reason why is because you see so many people
In massive five-seater suvs already today
Like, um, it may not be in every suburb, but there are certain ones, especially range rovers as an example
Uh, you see a lot of bmw x5s. I know there's only a small bunch of x5s that are
Seven seats most are five seats. Those are huge. They're pretty much five meters
If not just a little bit over that so I think if they get the pricing right
I think it'll actually sell very very well because you look at
The market now five meter suvs that are five seats
It's majority of them are all your european brands
And you've got a list of options with every single one that you want to buy whereas a lot of the chinese brands
Seem like there's less variance, but when you do get the top one, it's pretty much you've got everything that
You would have had to tick in a european equivalent
Mmm
Correct. Yep. I mean if it's plush inside and uh, the price is right then. Yeah, I think
They are very luxurious to sit in like
They're so nice. So I suppose if you want to sort of like spoil the family, you know
It's kind of like the guilt trip like do you love your family if you love your family?
You'll buy them this car
You sound like
Yeah, that's right
That's a sales pitch there
All right, sign here. Yeah, look at them. They're crying in the corner because you're not buying the top stop. Come on
I got to see the bmw ix five
um in melbourne a couple of weeks ago
and
It's nice. It's very nice and I didn't know bmw had sold
In austria alone over 80 000 x fives over its lifespan, which of course is over a decade long
But this ix five is supposed to be a big deal
The thing that I found with ix five was I thought it was a full blown noia class
Which meant that it would be full ev platform, but it's not it has a transmission hump in the back
so
I
Without knowing the price without knowing the full specs. Actually, we do know the specs. It's very powerful
Huge battery 141 kilowatt hours or whatever it is
um
If this if that's got to be priced at 140
Given where the ix three pricing is
And this comes in that I don't know
1900
Hopefully base variant under the luxury car tax
um
There could be a few people that will be swayed such as what we've seen with the zika seven expires some of them were
iod bmw Mercedes
owners previously
Yep, oh, absolutely. Let's take a little break and thank our sponsors for this evening. Thank you very much to
Carl loop again. Thank you riz and the team doubted to empower australia's ev revolution
Let's take a comment here from tassie speaking of seven seats spotted my first id buys long wheelbase seven cedar in hobart recently
That's great. Sounds like a fun road trip in that car around tazmania
And yeah, just it's saying seeing heaps of id buzzes in brisbane as well, which is great
Uh at man saying a seven seat full ev with luxury interior good tech good price like xpeng can do then this will sell well. I agree. I agree
Alrighty, let's uh, let's push on and just staying with xpeng once again
xpeng ceo that is
Hershelper has taken the company's first robo taxi ride
As internal testing it begins. I did see a video of this on linkedin actually is quite impressive
So doing good things
I did see a video of an xpeng also doing a car park with the in those spirals by itself too on vla. That was pretty cool
Um
Yeah, I mean hopefully next time we go there guys, uh, we'll be able to take one of these robo taxis
um around
Shied out. Yeah, I'm all for that
Uh, if you're a view saying I have driven the bmw ix 3
Southern yes, I've heard they're doing a road show as well
Alrighty well, uh riz looks like he has got a board his bonza flight
So riz, thank you so much for joining us this evening
Uh, any time. Thanks for having me on good to be back for term three and looking forward to the next show. Enjoy the rest of it
See uh, save journeys riz. Take care. We'll see you back
right
Isn't that nice of riz to join us? Um, I see he's about to board a flight
All right, we have lots of xpeng news. I'm going to put this one up as well
Um speaking of mona, uh, which is their budget arm xpeng planning two more mona models
As the budget lineup expands to at least five vehicles says c and ev post
We know mona is that well the mona mo 3 is xpeng's best selling car at the moment
So I don't i'm not surprised. They're doing this launching more mona vehicles
Hopefully they'll come to australia as well
They did say when we were there join I and riz that they are very very bullish about bringing their cars to australia
Lots this year. So we'll see we shall see
uh
Okay, and what else have we got we've got
Zika news. Hey moving on. Okay. So here we go. Roland get you excited the zika 7 gt shooting break
Has been launched in 16 countries in europe. That's not six. That's not ten. It's 16 european countries
That's huge these markets include sweden norway danmark netherlands belgium switzerland
Greece criatia slovenia romania bogaria germany italy spain portugal and france
uh and starting from 45 990 euros which is about 50 us thousand dollars which is about what 75 80
80 grand australia
I'm looking that up now 75 000 dollars
But starting from right so that's slightly more expensive than ours 7x in australia
But hopefully because they've got tariffs in europe hopefully it's cheaper for us which i'll see
But of course roland all you care about is the is the top spec, right? I'm sure this is the rural drive entry level which is
They just need to bring the top
At that price at 75 grand at that price and then everyone will be happy a lot. There's still a lot of interest
I think I think you know what speaking on
Since we spoke about the ex2 I think this is a similar thing
Um in terms of there's been so much hype for it since
Last year since it came to one of the indian shows for people to look at
So much speculation. We've got pricing from europe. We've got pricing from other countries
everyone like
Within minutes you could go on facebook groups to work out like someone's done full
calculations analysis from the different markets and everything
They need to get the price right. There's a lot of hype and
yeah
See, okay, so I'm gonna I'm gonna say something here which might be a hot take but
There must be an end point to this
We can't have the brands undercutting each other with cheap cars all the time
There must be a ceiling or a floor right because you look gily obviously at the ex5 which was game changing cherry jku
Have got you know that very cheap j5
These cars are not sustainable at this price, right like they must come on time where they go
Okay, this was our launch car at this price
But honestly the cars are actually priced like this are a bit higher
And is this is this gily doing this for the x2 guy? Look, we can't sell it any cheaper than this
You know save the seven gt where they will they'll go well, we can't sell it that cheap
The seven x was really just like a little taste of our brand. What do you think guys?
Is that what's what we're seeing with the chinese cars? We're we're seeing more and more sales in australia where they're starting now to
Get us accustomed to
A more realistic price. What do you think?
Could be I hope not
Me too. I'm just straight out there
I don't know anymore. I've just
I'm just wondering if that's going to be the case right because they are they are quite cheap at the moment some of these
Some of these brands so I don't know. I'm just I'm just spitballing honestly
Yes, well ev review says it'll be three to 5000 dollars less than seven x
I mean that that's kind of what we are hoping
for in terms of the price
Um
Yeah, we'll see
Okay, moving on uh speaking of beam wix 3 so receiving a five star and cap rating
Which is good. This is uh the first model to be independently tested against the new 2026 or 2028 requirements
So like you can't give any safer than this in terms of testing requirements, which is great
Um, and as someone has already said they are doing the rounds
For the dealers around the country. So yeah, I'm looking forward to hopefully testing one of these very shortly
Uh, what was the range again 800 k's of wltp. So that is a phenomenal range. That's like one stop senator melbourne
One stop senator brisbane. So someone needs to do that test
Question for us. Hi joy tom and roland any update on newly released mazda 6e. Did you try 6e cx 6e when you were there in china?
Uh
6e is coming to the channel. I can say that it's coming. We are testing it soon
Cx 6e. I don't know. Have we seen any reviews yet of the cx 6e? I'm not sure they've released any media ties in in australia
Yeah, I don't think so either
So yeah, the 6e I think has got good reviews
Certainly joy and I enjoyed it when we got to drive it in lang lang in victorial
So we'll see. We'll just confirm it when we do that test drive as well on home soil
Uh camo as I agree with you. I wanted to stay around the current prices
Of course with chinese cars as it really pushes the legacy brands to start lowering prices. Yeah
Um
Speaking of which we were at the Toyota launch recently as you might have seen in our vids the rav4
And that's asking like 60 plus thousand dollars, right? Um, that's for a small suv
So that's the kind of legacy brands we're talking about
um
And for 60 grand's a lot a lot of
Sort of evs around at the moment you can get your money for so
Interesting strategy. That's all I can say
Uh, yeah, deep power turning that's right deep power
So seven still at a good price at the moment
Um, and the eo sevens around as well
All right
Let's keep pushing on and
Now we've got we've got to talk about byd right this was in the news this week
byd uh offering
Well, first of all, they they gave the wrong cars basically. Let's let's be blunt 1200 customers
Offering full refunds when they sold cars that were dated. Well, they said that was supposed to be 2026 date build
But we're given 2025 cars
You may not think this is a big deal
But it really is a big deal because obviously that affects depreciation affects resale value down the line
so
What do you think guys had you been offered a car that was
Not the same not the year you thought it was would you ask
For a full refund and get a new one or what that is
Would you lose confidence in in the brand thoughts like to hear that?
Roland we'll start with you
I'll do both
Uh, you know, seriously, if I genuinely still really like the car
Look, uh, I won't be around the bush. It's going to leave a sour taste in my mouth
Like if if that did genuinely happen
But I think the bigger thing is probably how are they handling it?
And if they're offering entire full refunds for me personally, I feel like that would be okay
But if they said like uh, what that last sentence down the bottom
Everything 1100 I would for me personally I would go that's probably it for me
Yes, what do I enjoy what were your thoughts when you first saw this?
Um, yeah, I would basically demand a 2026 car
like
That's what that's what you pay. But and a thousand dollars is nowhere near enough
compensation for
The difference in the manufacturing year let alone
um
The fact that they made a mistake like normally it's kind of like the cost of the mistake plus extra
This isn't even the cost of the mistake
Yeah, I think the issue is that it was a bit of a slap in the face for customers, right?
That's 1100 is nothing
And and for byd to say look, we didn't make this we didn't offer the refund because they contacted the abc
Well as an angry customers contact at the abc
We're doing this because we were going to anyway that that is yeah
That's what left a bit of a sour taste in in customers mouth, but they had to push
Byd to do this rather than them coming out saying hey, you know, we're going to give you a refund. We did the wrong thing
that to me is a bit disappointing but hopefully
Hopefully it's a learning exercise for new brands like the yd in australia that uh, I think australians have
Um
Yeah, pretty high standards when it comes to things like this, you know, I mean that's fair enough
I would be very upset as well receiving a car. That's not the build that I thought it was so
Yeah, look good on the customers actually to to get this over the line as well
Yes, I agree jim. Uh, the a triple c will be watching of these
Things with interest for sure
Uh, we're the one with these the cars stored in the theme park in jamburu. That's a very good question
I don't know maybe
maybe
um
Yeah
Alrighty, yeah miscommunication somewhere for sure for sure
Yeah, sims arson. Can I get refund on my 2023 model? I still love it. I'll take a refund at this point. Yeah
I don't know that might be a tough ask
um
Now another car coming on the market. Look at this. This is the uh leak motor b05 another one
It's hard to keep track now
This is a rural drive 56 kilowatt hour
LFP and 67 as well
Uh 401 kilometers WLTP
Um, yeah, they just keep coming guys. It's as we know leak motor tends to be quite good value
with their pricing
There we go. It's another SUV
How big is this car I forgot 4.4 I think it was
something like that
This will obviously slot in underneath the uh the b10 in terms of size
Let's see if I could find the specs somewhere. I think I saw it before just bear with me here
Let's fucking search it okay 4.43 meters. There we go
So
So that's another one for us to test 11 kilowatt ac
Um and dc up to 174. So that's you know, no slouch for sure decent. Yeah good specs
um
Hopefully hopefully the adas is fixed as well. Like that can be quite intrusive for leak motor leak motor cars
I notice
Still doesn't
Um, although owners tell us you can use the car link it
third party apparently works. All right
yellow silver gray black and starry night blue
There you go
Comes with a light gray interior too
All right, we shall try and get a hold of one of these to review
Um, let's keep pushing on and
Now we know the kia ev3 sells well. Um, the roll-on spec has arrived gt line all-wheel drive
Um
Asking 66 490. That's not a terrible price for an all-wheel drive 81 kilowatt hours
500 k's of range
Not too bad
I was hoping for just the gt just skip the line just straight to the top
I know there were rumors. I don't know if they're still making that. Yeah
Yeah, I agree like the um hyundae hyundae is six in and the five
your ev6 gt
Yeah, look, it's all-wheel drive, right? That's something better than the gt line with all our front-wheel drive
Um, like they have currently very true. I do wonder. I didn't get to check the specs in detail
Does this finally have the 360 camera?
Oh, let's have a look
Because that was one of the things that I felt was missing in the
Um ev3
Even the gt line doesn't have the uh, yeah, it didn't have a 360. Yeah, okay
That that is a big uh big miss oversight, isn't it? I can't see it on this
uh in this
Have to wait to test it. Yeah
I mean the fact that they say rear view camera with dynamic parking guidelines probably means it's not 360
That's the thing with key is right. They they tend to
leave all these like, you know, the
360 camera to the top spec usually like the ev5 and the ev9
um
It's a shame. It's not even in the in the gt line all-wheel drive version very disappointing
Okay, good spot there, Roland
Um
Look even the the car that's photographed is the gt line front-wheel drive
It's a shame probably couldn't tell anyway
I do like that color that marcha la marcha kind of color
Is very nice. Yeah, it did drive. It did drive well in front-wheel drive. So this would do even better
Yep, Tony says homework for you Roland test it baby. I will be asking
Um, and yeah camo's like very surely has 360 and either of you says no no 360
Okay, uh only missing the os version and says gary. That's a shame, isn't it? It's a real shame
All right, watch this space
Okay, uh, we have gv 60 images. Let's have a look
This is the uh flagship gvc. No, sorry. There's one more. There's a magna magna is the flagship all-wheel drive performance
But this is the updated gv 60
Which does look quite good. I gotta say
There we go
It's not bad color either this sort of ocean blue
Very sporty with a fast back at the back
Um, are there any specs? Yeah, there's some some inclusions here
Um, how many is there a battery on this? Let's have a look. Yes 84 kilowatt hour battery 560 kilometers of range
Uh
800 volt e gmp platform
350 kilowatt charge I can do 10 to 18 in 18 minutes. Good
and then
That's 88 000 and then there's the magma Roland just for you. There we go magma all-wheel drive
It's bright
Good price though
It's genesis pricing realistically like they you know, they can't pitch it below ironing 5 in no, so
Yeah
The price was 130 year ago. Was it 130? I saw it somewhere. Yeah, it was where that table was at the top the top
Yeah
Feet further down. Yep there just the back back bar. Oh, yeah, we got 130
MLP before on roads. So probably 140 to click that one. Yeah
3.4 0 to 100. Okay, that's acceptable. I can't say that's acceptable
for 0 to 100
But uh, look at that torque 790 newton meters of torque in boost mode
Whoo
Now we we did enjoy the 6n uh from Hyundai. So hopefully this will be uh as good
Uh brings a smile to our face. Um, yeah, agreed. Tony. Nice to see genesis with an update as well
Very good, uh bargains as camos. Yeah, all right
Now speaking of luxury cars we have
We have pollster pollster
pollster for
Our suv on sale soon. So not the pollster for coupé suv
so
bigger bump basically
shortly higher roof
630 kilometers WLTP
So another one to test
That's a worldwide release, isn't it? I think not for Australia at this point
Not yet, surely would come surely you would think
Very good
And speaking of pollster, we know that uh pollster
Will no longer be selling cars in the u.s
Um, I think the u.s. Government has worked out finally. That's uh the batteries are from china
So
I think pollster will continue to support current customers, which is good, but
No longer selling new cars in america, which is a real shame. I actually
Just uh, it is what it is
You can't even buy a dji camera in america at the moment. Yeah, that's banned there banned
Everything's banned
Cameras drones anything anything to do with that company
Yep
Real shame. They can't even I think I've seen reviews of the osmo pocket four from america going. It's a shame. We can't have it
Well, you know
shame for you guys
not for us
Uh proper rear window apparently for the pollster for okay. That's good. Let's go back to this
Look at my picture just then actually I think you could see through it in the picture that you had
Oh, yes, uh
Uh, no, there was one other one wherever it was. Uh, that was
Maybe not that one. There was one that was front. There was one that was front on
I didn't see where it was
But you could kind of see through it before
Okay, I'll roll through it
I don't mind the fact that it doesn't have one honestly. I think the camera is fine
But I know some people a bit of a deal breaker for them
Oh
I can't quite see it. Anyway, yeah, that's that's good. I guess it's good to have that option
Isn't that some people don't like having a camera as the only option?
Uh
Yeah
All right
Let's keep pushing on so that's pollster. Uh, we will keep going with Geely. So Geely's lotus
Uh, there's one country in north america that's allowing chinese EVs and that is canada, of course
Under the deal announced earlier this year
That they're allowing summer cars in the country
So lotus looks like it's going to be the first EVs arriving in canada next month with a ceremony planned in montreal
Curious to see what kind of ceremony they'll have for chinese EVs arriving on the ship
Uh, this will be the first china made vehicles under the 49 000 unit annual equator deal between canada and china
There we go
You would think brands like b yd
Uh Geely, maybe even cherry motor
jacob motor would make it on the shores there
Yeah
Would have thought that would take the bulk. I know
6.1 tariff. I mean that's
Better than 100 tariff. I suppose
There you go
Not that look i gotta say it's not the best-looking cars the new lotus is that is that too mean having seen them in real life
It just doesn't look quite lotus like you know what i mean from the from the old days
They're quite big chunky cars, right?
It's a huge car
Yeah, it's definitely not like how it's not like they
What they traditionally known for let's call it that they usually have a stripped out car with a roll cage
And just you're trying to crawl out of it. You can't just get out of the car
This looks like you could just get in and get out
Yeah, they're like the lotus Elise, of course, which the tesla roadster was built on or based on
Okay, so in the Reuters interview we go wang said other chinese brands such as cherry b yd
Uh, we guessed right and shortly Geely as well. You would think Geely gwm those kind of brands
Uh us based tesla has already imported china made vehicles in canada there you go. So not all is lost with canada
Yeah, byd executive vice president stellar lee also told Reuters company will start sales next year. Yeah, makes sense
Yeah, okay, let's push on what's at the end guys. Thanks for staying with us more Geely news
So for horizon also another Geely company
Expanding australian commercial eb lineup with the all new f3e. Let's have a look at this f3e
It looks like a
Almost like a pickup truck, isn't it?
or pickup truck configuration
um
can have obviously a
Be closed cavity at the back or a tray or a cab chassis
There we go
Remember they're driving the forizon joy last year that was fun
We had to go to ikea. It's fine. Just like throwing in the back
How can you not go ikea? I mean if you have a colleague you'd have to it's not all bunnings
exactly
It's like it's like it's a given
Um, yeah, it looks like quite a big vehicle this one. I'm not sure if I want to test this to be honest with you
Maybe I'll drive it around for a day, but I don't really want to have this in the garage
We can drive away
We frank. Oh, thanks camos. Yes, it's called a box truck. Thank you. I wasn't sure what it was called
Okay, good
um
Let's keep pushing on so oh, this is a good story. All right, so now you might have heard of the uh, central coast ev cable bandit
So this gentleman feel bad calling me a gentleman. He's not gentlemen. This
uh,
This bandit has um has been arrested
Denied bail as well. It's pretty bad to be denied bail
um, and yeah, he was he was caught with a whole bunch of
basically tesla plugs in his possession
I'm driving a forward ranger
Um, how many 17 plugs far out? That's that's a lot of plugs
What a menace
It's pretty much all the central coast superchargers. It's seriously, right? Um
Large bags filled with stripped cables cutting tools and the tasers presumably to get the copper and sell it
um
You've got stations in gosford, erina, tagra, newcastle, hamilton, swansea, raiment, terrace. Yeah all the
All the central coast areas. Look at that. I'm sure they also have property of tesla as well somewhere
Um, not the smartest tool in the shed
I love i love his quotes as well. I want to read this to you
Mr. Highland also addressed the court directly pleading for his release from custody. I'll do whatever it takes. He said
I'm not a bad person. I can provide video of other people using my car. It's not me
I was supposed to have knee surgery today
Yeah, bail was formally refused and the matter was adjourned to wednesday. So there you go crime
Does not pay
Yes, uh jerk so glad they caught him
Um deranged ranger behavior anti eb jerk. Yeah
There you go
I think we know what astral things of you
So hopefully this is a deterrent for others not the smartest thing to do
Um
Next thing charge hq rollin. Enjoy. This is sad. They're gone
They went to piney
They really were they were their software was so good back in the day
You know charging of um surplus solar
um, it just worked honestly before
Before all the different apps came coming out and built in kind of surplus charging and tesla's own, you know solar battery charging
I charge hq with a bomb. They were great. So
I'm sorry to see them go. I guess it's not sustainable anymore
No
Yeah
It's a shame because it was free for a while and their homegrown Aussie, you know, Aussie built
Yeah, 100 Australian. That's right local company just to support people because they wanted something like that themselves
Yep
Yeah, we had the founder on the stream actually a few years ago. Great guy. He um chatted through how we developed it
So I'm sorry to see stuff like this go. Um
Yeah, we have a lot of our good
They leave a legacy of having paved the way, you know, like
as the kind of like the early
the early steps of building that framework so that people can then
Take that now
So like it's they may be gone, but their work is not gone
Correct. That's what people are building on now
It was integrated with amber for a while. I'm not sure what's happened with that, but um,
Yeah, we have great ideas in this country. We just need to
Need to develop them for the world stage, but yeah, no, I'm sorry to see charger HQ go. Um, you'll be missed
Uh, okay, let's uh push on and look I want to put this slide up because I find this fascinating what looking at china's data
um, this is this is um
For those of you who are listening to the podcast so so cneb posts, um, automakers share in china's new energy vehicle market in june
2026 so
byd
Leading with 22.3 percent share
All the big guns are there Geely leap motor changan make up the top four then tesla china fifth and then hime which is huawei
sa i c which is
The conglomerate that mg's part of the neo cherry and xiaomi is there so they are the
10 biggest brands in china when it comes to evs. Um, I find that quite interesting
So for those, you know, if you ever asked hat will the companies like leap motor? Uh depal
um cherry
Geely will they survive in australia? You just have to point them to this slide and go look, you know, they are huge in china
They sell a lot of cars. So I think if anything that those companies should survive you would think
I don't think the issue is them sort of surviving
As such, I think people are worried. They're gonna pull out of the market like, you know, like perjury style
You know, like they perjury still might exist overseas, but they're just they're pulling out of the australian market
So I think that's what people are worried about more than the actual whole company going bust
Yeah, no, that's true. That's true
um
was perjury
So there's I think stilantis is still hanging onto them here. I think inch cape
Letting go of star and perjury
But no, I think citron you think of citron. They're they're leaving the country another french brand
Um, so yeah, you're right. I mean, it's it's a shame. Um, that that company's not gone from australia
But uh, yeah, and that's true camos. No xpang on that list. Yep
But I think xpang's still punching above its weight honestly for a small company like that
And this slide is good too actually this one, uh, this is this is automakers
Exporting from china. So it's a similar similar bunch of companies, but yeah, byd cherry
geely tesla the big four
With an src leap mode of dong feng chang an src again on gwm
So interesting gwm is exporting a lot of cars, but they're not
In this top 10 list from june anyway, so maybe they're a bit further down
imperatively
Uh, yeah, that's true at tassie the only time we'll tell uh, who survives and who doesn't leave australia. Yep
Xiaomi is doing well bottom of this big list for the top sales
I want to see xiaomi
Uh in this export list too roland in time. Yes
Somewhere like, you know, as long as it makes a list, I'll be happy. Let's go
Correct. They're not even on the list yet
All right, almost at the end guys almost there speaking of xiaomi. Uh, this is uh
Sky nomad. This is their third vehicle
for first hd images
Shown of the sky nomad. This looks like quite a big car actually
I'm not sure whether it's a five or seven seated, but certainly looks like a full-size suv
The n90 sky nomad
Uh launched this week
There you go, um
Just trying to skim read whether it's got five or seven regardless. It's quite a big car
More than 5.3 meters in length
Well, that's huge. Okay, that's not even full suv. That's like
People move aside full plus more
Yeah, that's exciting
Um
There you go. They're showing that they're not just doing sporty cars. They can do big chunky family kind of cars as well
Um
Yeah, evie reviews show me you you gt designed for rollin 100% they they woke up and said we need to make a car
I just need to announce it. I'll be there
No gt line for rollin just full gt
Obviously they didn't price it correctly
My wallet isn't at your business, but
isn't it
If I
Think
Now almost at the end so byd seagull
Or aka atto one in in australia
new filing
It is 425 millimeters longer than the china version which admittedly is smaller than our version
So at 4.2 meters, this will be 20 centimeters longer than our current atto ones
Um
And having driven the atto one this week
It's not actually super small like yes under four meters
But it's only because the boot's tiny the actual passenger space isn't too bad on the inside and it's still quite a tall car as well
Um
Yeah, 4.2 that's that's sort of creeping up into like
Compact suv territory not even hatchback, right?
Like gsc rgt
The jq j5. I think it was like 4.3 4.4 for memory, right 4.3. Yep. Yeah
Yeah, yeah, that feels like really spacious. Yep
Yep, I agree. It's only 4.3, but
It looks like a land river obviously
Yeah
Uh, yeah, I agree lightning atto one is surprisingly quick especially in the um
In the premium spec 115 kilowatt motor. That's quite nippy around town
I've been very surprised getting off the line this week. I really enjoyed it
Did you get lots of looks?
I got a lot of looks because it was yellow. It was bright like
Uh, something like my colleague said it's it's tennis ball colored. I was asking around. Why do you call this yellow or green?
I think tennis ball green actually fits the tea. Yeah fits the description very well
Um and speaking of new filing so tesla files a new model y variant in china likely the performance version there you go built in china
Which is interesting because our performance model y's are built in berlin at the moment
So we might get the performance spec from china very soon. Maybe dropping the price as well
you would hope
so watch this space
And denser denser z electric supercar starting pre-sales after goodwood debut this week
That's this crazy crazy car look at that
I'm asking a 100000 us for that. That's pretty good right for car like that
Hundred and forty odd thousand dollars
Aussie. Yeah
And then the denser z coupe our top starting at 142 pounds 142 thousand pounds, sorry
And the racing track is 159 and 172 thousand pounds
Okay
well
We'll see we'll see denser brings that to australia
eventually
um, and just a couple things i want to finish off this monster show so
Uh, good article in the abc this week finding out the batteries
Surprisingly what not to us cheaper than gas plants
As data centers fuel turbine costs. Yes, funnily enough batteries with their dropping price is
Suddenly a good stop gap for peak electricity usage as opposed to gas which is pretty expensive at the moment
So this is quite an interesting slide here. So this little chart here showing how cheap
solar pv is compared to other
Formers of energy
I'll draw you to nuclear
that's the kind of
Costs they need to charge consumers to make their money back if you were to build a nuclear power plant as opposed to solar pv and battery
So yeah payback for batteries is still a lot more efficient for governments
So it's good that Australia has more batteries now. I think that's a good thing
Kind of glad we didn't go to new clear in the last election. Um, hopefully we'll stay that way too
or you never know
Interesting solar thermal as well
I think solar thermal is the one with the the rod right and which spits out solar to the panels looking at it
I think someone can correct me in the um in the chat
Uh, looks quite quite futuristic
so
There you go. Just thought I'd share that with you guys
And very last thing before we go Roland another another free car with a house promotion this time of the uh ix 3 noi class
Yeah, what was last time it was the mg4
Yes, that's mg4 urban. I think it was and now
this one's
Obviously in your neck at the woods
Gordon almost towards there
Towards there, but yeah, and you know what it wasn't even the base back. It's ix 350. I think that's the top spec
50x drive. Yes. Yeah, that that's 120 grand. So yeah
There you go. I mean judging judging by these buildings in the back. I mean that they look pretty flash. So
You're probably paying almost 10 times charging on the link
Um
There you go 10 million dollar house you get 120 000 dollar pretty good deal
So I just punched it into
Google
Yeah, and it says
That it's a boutique development of 14 luxury townhouses recent market listings indicate they go
Stay in your seat when I tell you this
3.9 million dollars to 10 million
So you were on the money. I wasn't far off for the rolling spec house 10 million dollars
Um to get down just like
I mean, I wouldn't pay that now with the with the market dropping right away a bit longer
You just might get snap up a bargain very soon
might be only eight mil
Yeah, and I'm curious maybe for the for the crowd like I know we saw
The the much more realistic one which was you buy a house to get an mg4
This one's obviously giving you a top spec ix3
Is that of interest of anyone like is that something that anyone would even consider because for me personally
My first question if I see something like that is can you just knock off the retail price from whatever I'm purchasing?
Well 100 grand off an 8000000 dollar house
There's probably wood actually
If no one's buying
Um, yeah, that's a good question actually leave us the thoughts there
Would you would would a car like this entice you to buy a luxury townhouse on the north shore of sydney?
It must work right otherwise they wouldn't do it
um
It's probably just a convenient or not convenient. So it's like, you know, just so happens to be there. Oh great
And I'll take the car. Why not, you know, I was going to buy the house anyway
I'm not sure whether it would actually attract people to the development, you know
Um, yes and say 3.9 million bargain. I mean in sydney probably is actually
Um
And quave says, yeah, well that car would be for the driver to get there. Yeah, that's true. That's true
Uh, yeah 100k for the 10 million dollar townhouse is the commission. That's probably less than the commission actually in sydney at the moment
I'm not joking
um
Yeah
Crazy times, but anyway, uh, keep keep keep us
Poster guys if you see any more free cars with houses around the country. I'm curious to see what else is on offer
I want to buy a luxury townhouse
Alrighty, well that wraps up a monster show for tonight. I just want to thank riz once again for joining us from bonza lounge
Um, and yeah wishing him a safe flight and also to joy as well for joining us from another mystery bonza lounge somewhere
And uh, thank you rolling once again from zap youtube channel
Thanks for having me
Thanks everyone and uh, have a great night. We will be back next time on ludicrous feed
Uh, until then stay safe and happy charging. Thanks everyone. Take care
Bye bye
