Welcome to Driving Well Awesome.
My name is Warren.
And I'm Lane.
Thanks for joining us.
Thank you so much.
Coming up here this weekend, as you're listening to this,
Valentine's Day, Seabright Motors.
Lane.
That's right.
12 to 4.
12 to 4 and forecast has improved.
No rain in the forecast.
Dude, Sunday looks fucked.
It looks like it might be all right.
That looks great.
In fact, maybe it's your last hurrah before a little bit of rain here.
So come on out.
Come hang.
End of Seabright, Seabright and Murray.
Yeah, like Gaze Market and Java Junction parking lots
is what we're kind of thinking.
We did it last month and it was fun.
Or we did it a month and a half ago or something like that.
But yeah, so come out, bring your car, bring your best gal.
Support the businesses there.
That's what it's all about.
Hang will be a band, right?
Yep.
And there should be a fun.
If our friend Amelia is listening,
there might be a game of guess who in the van again.
Can't promise that and it's not going to be in town.
Did I hear man?
I'm in.
Oh, this is the most exciting news I've ever heard.
Dude, I mean, and I can do hood open because it's not raining.
Oh, dude, that's me so sick.
You guys can see a K swap 30 boys.
I can do hood.
I didn't get excited.
Someone, and I apologize.
One of the homies DM me, I can't remember his name,
but yeah, super tight.
He's he's come to Philly before he's got an E 30 M three
and a 190 16 valve doing it right, but he's like, dude,
like I can't believe you haven't posted a video of that idle.
You know, you got to post that.
I don't know I'm going to I'm going to be like as I mentioned
last week. What's the idle about?
I forget.
What is it just a little high or something?
Yeah, so now it's all, you know, stable and doing its thing,
you know, so I'm just letting people down.
I didn't I'm not sharing these updates on social.
I know I've been I've been very bad to I it's kind of like you
with the art a little high just a little bit, you know,
so just take the edge like Erie day.
I can stay high as my buddy Mike used to say. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Was that on the chronic or with smoke weed every day?
That's every day. Yeah, but I don't know what Erie day is from
Erie day is that that's things are getting hyphy at the time.
Is it right? Everybody in the club get tips getting tips body in
the club getting tips, but that's everybody not Erie day.
So that's right. Yeah. That's like sipping on all that stuff.
Yeah. Oh, the scissors. So good dude.
Hey, I just got back from driving two kind of cool cars.
Oh, like literally, literally just got back. Oh, sweet.
I was driving a I drove a seventy four nine eleven s.
Oh, followed by back to back with a seventy nine eleven T.
Oh, I think so. Yeah. And I took them up up and up into our hills.
Yeah. So, you know, got a little bit of a rip in.
Yeah, it's like so MFI car versus a carb car. I think the other one's a carb car. I believe
is it a stock T? Yeah. Yeah. Oh, it's stock engine, but like it has nine thirty breaks
like some big, big, big breaks. It has aluminum like all the aluminum suspension components from
like a G body like the and then it has, you know, sway bars and all the stuff, fresh bushings,
everything. Well, what an interesting compare. Yeah. And that one's running CN thirty six is
and then the, the S is running reddestines. But yeah, it was cool. It was like fun, like
back to back in those things. And then one has a nine oh one, one has a nine fifteen, which means
one of a date, a dog leg five speed and one has a traditional five speed. But yeah, it was cool
back and back to backing those two things. The S is obviously like
sounds awesome with that MFI. And then it's like very peaky power band. So it makes power like
above five grand and it doesn't have much below that. And then the T is just kind of like a little,
you know, has decent torque and power, but it just doesn't have that ultimate power that the S has.
And then it's just like handling wise, they're both like properly set up. So they're both really
good. But it's a, the, the T with the, or sorry, the, yeah, the T with like all the aluminum stuff
and the nine thirty breaks definitely has like a lightness to it where it feels like it doesn't
have a, like you can feel the lack of weight down low, like in the, you know, in the wheels,
basically, and it has those group four aluminum steelies, which are pretty light.
But yeah, it was a fun little back to back. Those cars are pretty good, dude. Like pretty
yeah. I mean, they're very capable, right? They just drive, they drive well.
Yep. That's why they're the most one of the most popular rally cars out there. Yeah,
you can see why I really, I really wanted to, I didn't have my car. I had the Polestar,
but I really wanted to drive my car right after that to like back to back to back them.
Dude, what is that? Like a 500 pound weight difference or something? Dude, probably more
than that. I think those things weigh like in the twenty threes. Yeah, you're probably right.
Yeah. Yeah. In my ways, it is like 500 pounds because they're probably 23 and change and mine's
like 80, 28 and change. Yeah. And that's stock for stock. And then this other, it sounds like the
T is much lighter, like way less unsprung weight. Probably lighter. Yeah. Yeah. It's just, yeah,
you can feel how the way that that translates is really just like less movements, right? Like
in everything is more immediate. So like with a suspended, when you go over a bump, it's not
like it has to like dampen and process that. It's just like, it just dampens and you're
back to where you need to be. Exactly. And that's the big difference. Like that car felt like it
was just like floating on the road. And the other car, actually even the, the, the ass I drove,
which is probably close in weight. It felt more like it was like pounding the pavement a little
more, like more like my Carrera feels. But yeah, that T with all that, you know, you're right,
the unsprung weight. Yeah. It's, it's a very cool feeling, especially when you can do that back to
back like that. And it's really obvious. Like, yeah, it's very noticeable in the steering,
especially too, as you go over bumps, right? Like how much more like oscillations and movements
there are. But yeah. And then also translates, obviously, to better braking and all that
shit. But yeah, I mean, S is though, yeah, dude, that little small displacement, short stroke,
high revving motor is one of my favorite sounds. I mean, like if, if I was wealthy, like in,
like I was definitely as a retirement thing, I would love to do that two liter cup that they
do in Europe. Like that is so awesome. Like that's like the, like, and then talk about like also
like just developing that skill, right? To like handle that car at the limit. Like cause they're,
like they are, I mean, they're drivable, but you know, but yeah, it's like, they, they, they,
they have a lot of slip angle, right? They're at that. Yeah. And you're, you're talking about
like a early S, which is like early S. Yeah. Yeah. Which is a short wheelbase, like, you know,
like two liter, like that seems like such a, like a spicy, spicy little car. Yeah. I still,
I mean, yeah, I don't know if I've driven a stock S. I've never, I've never driven
early S. So like a two liter car or anything. Yeah. Not a short wheelbase. No, I haven't either.
That's awesome though, dude. I'm going to look for, look for the picks. Yeah, dude. I took
a few. Should be good. Sweet. Do you guys want to get in some questions?
I don't know. Anything else you want to cover? Any questions? Do you guys have any,
do you guys have any Radwoods coming up? Yeah, we do. Radwood, it, that, where are we going?
Amelia Island, Florida. That is on March 7th. Actually still have some show car spaces available.
It's a free show to attend as a spectator. So you can come to Radwood for free if you want to
the concor. You got a pony up for a ticket. Wait, so how, yeah, how does that work? Like,
so people, cause I know that, that day is like $150. Well, there's, so we're across the street
from the concor at a different part of the golf course. If you want to go across to the concor,
there's a gate and tickets required, but to come walk through Radwood and on your way into the
concor is totally free. So it's fun posts about that or something. Cause I don't think a lot of
people know that. Yeah, it's been a really well attended event. Last year, previously we were on
a separate day from the concor. And then last year, there was some hazardous weather and they
shifted the concor to Saturday with Radwood and it was a great success. So we are going to do that
again. And yeah, we're actively planning for that. And then the heritage invitational at
Charlotte Motor Speedway, April 11th. That's also a concor show. We're in the concor. It's on the
racetrack. So we'll be in the same event. And then everything else will be coming out very soon.
We're just buttoning up some dates and times and plans. And then we'll have a full schedule
announcement here. Gosh, like I would love that to happen this week, but probably soon. So stay
tuned. But come hang out. Yeah. If you're in the south, southeast, those are good to go.
All right. So Lars Brunkhor says, 986 Boxster swapped with a 997 Carrera motor.
Now he starts his sentence. Is it to Porsche Weenie to make some sort of custom 3.6 badge to
show off the swap? Carlos completely stock and you never know it's been swapped otherwise.
No, I think that's right. And it's also, it's so subtle too. Like you have to really know what
you're looking at, like to understand it. So I get it. I think it's cool. I would show off that.
Yeah, totally dude. I'm glad you're proud of it. And that's not a big flex. It's a little badge.
Like most people, I think it's cool. I think as any other, any other Porsche Weenie will
appreciate it. I'll tell you that much. Those darks. Yeah. But yeah, it's also like how,
like I'd say the majority of people won't even know what they're looking at.
Or they would think it's just the car came with it or whatever. Yeah, exactly. So yeah,
I think it's, I think it's cool. It's subtle. Joss Lumens. What's up with that guy? So mysterious.
Dude, I don't even know. He's kind of like, I think that's what they base the most interesting
man in the world on. Dude, I think he might be right. He was in the CIA, right? But he just
keeps it low key. We just don't know. That's right. That's what I think you're right. But it's
like if the CIA, if he was in the CIA in the seventies, that's what yeah, exactly. It was
like, if you like, he probably like teleported to this era. Yeah. Oh, okay. So he has a closet
door that he walks into and he'd like show up here. Yeah, that's right. But he's, yeah,
this is, this is his time travel mode, but he's actually in the seventies sort of a doctor.
Who's situation? He says, when did Lane start falling in love with second gen Camaros and
Firebirds? The picture on the post is a Camaro. It's like a late model or a 75 or something.
I don't even know what year I've always kind of, I kind of like them. I think they're kind of cool.
There was a nice, I mean, especially a split bumper car, you know, there was a
bumper at morning motors. Did you see the white one? And it's really well built. It's like a nice,
nice build. It was on that far, that far side of the lot, which has turned into kind of like
American hot rod row. Yeah. Yeah. Sometimes I don't know how that happens, but yeah, it's funny.
It was over there. And I always appreciate those. Like they kind of look like optimal
challenge. It looked like an optimal challenge car. Yeah. I think people, people also, they set
them up almost like European the way they set them up a lot like that, like road race kind of style,
which is cool. Yeah. With like mini lights, those things look so sick. There's a dude in Japan.
I can't remember his Instagram account, but he has one that's like sort of like
rocket bunny, but not like, not too exaggerated, just like with the right over fender flares. And
it's on Watts and it's stance. Right. It looks actually, it looks pretty badass. It's really
well done. I'll try to find it. Like bottle, bottle rocket bunny. Maybe maybe, maybe not full
rocket, but it's like somewhere in between bad button. Am I the only person, by the way,
that when you hear bottle rocket, you immediately think of what the West Anderson film now?
Yeah. That's all I think about. Right. And the fireworks, but yeah, but more so than
the movie. I think that, uh, those Camaro tell me if I'm wrong, but I think the original design
was penned by some, I thought some designer that's very like Euro or something, right?
Like a jujaro or something. Yeah. It's not a jujaro, but it's like a dude that
Yeah, I know what you're saying. Maybe Italian guy or something. And it's,
yeah, that's why it has these kind of year, perhaps maybe dude. Yeah. Yeah. It's in there.
Let's, we'll look it up. We'll get back to that. Um, John Rye has a very good question here.
If you had to trade your rally car for something American, what do you choose?
He says, uh, rear wheel drive manual and similar value as your personal car. So
I guess we've got to stick RWD for this one. And the question remains, uh, is it for a
classic rally or not? I mean, right now my car does both, you know, it's a 95, but, um,
I'm assuming that's kind of what we're talking about. Right.
Era, era for era. Yeah. Let's go era for era. Okay. Oh, great. Damn it. 87.
95. I mean, uh, uh, see Lane and, uh, and, uh, Dodge Omni GLHS. Oh, say, Lane's actually pretty
front wheel drive. Oh, you know what? Callaway. Can I go with a Callaway Corvette?
Is that, that's really me. That's totally me. By the way, dude. Yeah. Oh yeah. God dang it.
I don't like this at all. Lane can't even think his mind. I mean, no, I'm just a go,
I'm going like Fox body Mustang or something, but I go big dog, right? Cause I have a lot
of money to play with. I do a, yes, like a saline Mustang or something. I don't know.
Well, Art, you mentioned Vipers. I love Vipers, but I can't, it's out of my M three price range.
No, are they? I mean, your car's pretty nice. I'll let it slide. I mean, you can get a Viper
for 30 grand these days. A GTS. No, they've gone up. Oh yeah. I don't think so. I mean,
yeah, I guess I could, but man, that's a rough Viper. That interior is going to look real nice.
I mean, they look like ass new. So it's like, just take it, just take the dash out and just
go full metal. They look like ass new. Exactly. So what are you doing?
Me? Yeah. I mean, Lane took the words out of my mouth. I mean, I was going to say,
cause I'm an 87 too. I was just going to go saline Fox as well. And you know, just full,
what is it called? Maximum motor sport suspension on that puppy.
And yeah, they would call us pony boys. We'd be the boys. That'd be sick. I would hit up a
Meyer racing too for all of their steering rack stuff and brakes suspension, whatever maximum
doesn't do though. I would, it would be a Meyer X maximum motor sports build. Can I do a tribute
NASCAR? Yeah. For my price range, I could do like a Monte Carlo. Yeah. Something, but 95 is a rough
95. 95 is the worst. It's not good. It's not great. I mean, maybe, maybe I could go like
Camaro super sport and take it to Blaine fab and have it like fully dialed. Yeah. That's kind
of the move. I mean, or you could just go one of the indie pace car, huh? Like purple and yellow
with white seats or something. Jesus Christ. I have to do more research on this one, but
it's rough 95 minute. Wait a minute. 95 two door Tahoe slammed manual swap.
Well, I could go street style with like a Silverado. Yeah, dude. That's the move. That's
possible, but that's a terrible rally car by rally car. Dude. No, you can get it all dialed
man. You know it all dialed dialed. I think you just warn. It doesn't matter how it handles as
long as you have a net window or a window net, you know, and then that's where you got me on
neon numbers on the door. You're stoked, dude. I think we're forgetting something here, too. I
mean, there's also like what's about about Oldsmobile Laro Ford pros.
Well, you got to be rural drive. You said that's right. That's right. Rural drive.
Yeah, but see, I would do like a NASCAR tribute sounds fun, but not from that era. It's like
what are you dude? I mean, yeah, the cool stuff is actually kind of front. I mean, the one that's
I mean, because you have neon like ACR and then you also have a pretty rad like opportunity with
this like the sea brings. Remember they did like those touring like sea brings, which were pretty
sick, kind of like DTM BTCC looking ones. Yeah, you're talking the three serious, right, but
those are front wheel drive. So that doesn't work either, but that like a slam one of those
wouldn't work on the rally anyways because you got to go full like touring car style
with those. Yeah. So 95 NASCARs. They don't look too bad, dude. So I could get over that. Yeah,
like the the Tony Stewart. You have Jeff Gordon car, like pretty good looking. Actually, those
are pretty cool dude. Yeah, I think that's what I'd go with. Those look round. It's like very days
of thunder. It'd be a lot of fun ripping around on that and make a lot of noise and be good for
photos and get that check. And since you're and since you're high class, you would get the Pontiac
version, right? That's right. Buick gift is Buick make one oldsmobile. Maybe try to do the
Ford Thunderbird. Looks dope. Fucking Impala SS guy over here. I thought about that too,
but that's a big four door Caprice based thing. Like you're going to do it all raced out dog.
You're going to go maybe Impala SS on Watts. Although the wheels that it came with were great.
No, yeah. You just need. Yeah. Beef, beef, some beef, some suspension and some weight loss,
transmission, some hotchkiss involved, hotchkiss involved. Definitely. Okay. I'm changing my
answer. 95 SS. I was going to go Camaro though, because that's like the same idea, but much
sportier. I mean, yeah, that is also, I mean, I think in, as just as you said, right? Like the
the guy that you mentioned, Blaine fab, he builds these cars and they're super competitive here
regionally. I mean, they, for track purpose and track use, I know they can definitely,
just like Lane says, I know Corvettes are fast. I know Camaro SS is are fast. That's right. That's
right. SV expert, SV X pert says, what's your thoughts on WRC coming to America? Would any of
you go watch it if it did? So for those that don't know, they are doing like a kind of a trial run
in Tennessee and Kentucky. That is not full WRC. It's more of a support class
to see if they can actually make it happen. And if it would work here, as far as like routes and
stages and all sorts of things. Well, yeah, but also like, what, what do they consider a success?
Right? Is it because, I mean, out there, like, are you really going to attract the and engage
the audience that you want? Or is it because it's mostly broadcast? It doesn't matter.
It's, well, I think it's like, if you build it, they will come because that's a region.
I will, I will definitely strongly consider it. I don't want to, I hope it would be closer to
California, but they've done rally up in, you know, the Pacific Northwest, not WRC. It's been a
long time since WRC has been here. I think I read like 40 years or something. But there are routes
in places that can support this and other parts of the world. I think though that Tennessee,
especially you draw from so many metros that are like an hour or two away,
that you could easily get enough people out there to support an event like that. In fact,
there's not really great spectating to start with. So you're, you're not looking for a stadium full
of people. It's like you're trying to get the hardcore folks that are willing to travel and
go and do that. So Tennessee is a pretty, that's actually a decent choice. I'm going to say,
yes, I would strongly consider going. I think it'd be really fun.
Cool. I would say no to either of those locations. Maybe, maybe, maybe Kentucky,
because there's like a bourbon trail situation. Oh, that's my boy. You had been rugged. Yeah,
but I'm not allowed at either of those places. I'm pretty sure. So I'm out. But if it was in
Colorado or if it was in Utah or Colorado, Colorado, Colorado, what if in Tennessee we put
of like a coffee, little coffee spot with like flat bill hats and you could like,
no, I thought, I thought, I thought you're going to say if I go white face and then they would
allow me, no, no, no, I'm just saying, like if we did like, you know, some succulents and like
a cactus and then like some coffee and you could be like, like more at home, we're getting there,
we're getting there. And so, and so here's that. This is where this is actually super crucial,
I think, and maybe this is where WRC. If you're listening, you might need our assistance.
You need to have sort of like that fan fest, like that sort of like experiential piece that
people get up close and personal to the cars, meet the people, like have like an experience.
The food piece is important, but also just whatever else. Because I mean, otherwise,
like you see these cars fly by, you have to be a super hardcore like enthusiast to like appreciate
that. And like you want to make it, you know, you want to enjoy, you want to, sorry, you want to
experience that, but you also have to have some engagement with the brand and like WRC as a whole
and the personalities. I mean, they'll do that. Like we know, like Chattanooga has a,
has a concor and a whole motor sport festival thing they try to do down in Chattanooga. And it's
actually pretty popular and they're willing to build out. Yeah, I know. And there, yeah,
there's a tremendous amount of interest in pushing that, you know, the car culture there for sure.
And I know that there's also like just from, you know, several people that I know personally that
were in that region too, there's like the whole cars and coffee seeds massive there. It's like
there's definitely a lot of car culture, but I feel like, yeah, I would want, I don't know.
Just being honest, I don't necessarily think I would go to either of those, like especially like
it being kind of like a bit of a, what do you call it, a litmus test for them? Like I would
definitely consider going to a full scale event with like actual where there's an experiential
component and you have the actual race. This is what we're talking about. We're saying this year
it's a trial. If it comes back in 2027, the BRC is there. It's at, it's in Kentucky or Tennessee.
Are you going? Maybe if I'm allowed there. He's out. Yeah. Unless, unless like you said, like,
they make it a full like, they will. Of course they will. They will make it like a whole weekend
of things. Absolutely. They will just, you think so? Yeah. It's a long weekend. It's like a four
days or whatever of like, and you think they do like a whole build out and like a whole. Yes,
they do. So they also do rad stages in downtown areas that they'll rip around like a street course
as a nighttime thing. And it's like flashing lights and people having bonfires in the hills.
And it's awesome. It's super. Well, you might convince me then. I'm trying to convince you.
Come with me. I might go. All right. Let me know. You guys can go check it out. All right.
What are we going to say?
Where were we moving on? Nothing. Automotive Omnivores says,
if you have a Radwood era car and a watch, what's the next logical step? Radwood era home audio
question mark. I actually do have that. I have a, well, it's kind of dwindled down. It used to be
all Radwood era from, you know, amp to speakers. Now it's just the speakers remaining. Everything
else has been sold off or fell apart. So I've got ADS, really good ADS speakers that I love,
but all the rest of the component, except for the, the CD player is still period correct,
but everything else has. What can I think of it? Now it's not Akamichi. It's something.
It's not Macintosh. No, no. But now I don't ever listen to CDs. It just sits there.
Iowa. No, not Iowa. I wish it was a Macintosh. That'd be nice. But yeah,
Radwood era home audio is a big thumbs up from me. If you can pull it off.
Looks cool. Sounds great. Sometimes you have to rebuild them. Pretty sweet. Yeah, pretty sweet.
I don't own any home audio, except for one of those Bluetooth speakers that we play at our house
parties. Oh man. That's that. That's the extent of my audio. I just bought two records on eBay.
That's where I'm at. I got English beat record, which I love English beat to play in Felton.
They play a lot here. Yeah. They always play once a year at least.
And then I got a bunny whaler reggae record that I used to listen to a long time ago,
and it's not available like digitally. I couldn't find it on any of the streams. So
for whatever reason, it's not out there and found it from some lady in Iowa or something.
It's pretty nice. It's pretty nice to get music, music in the mail. That's fire, dude. That's
straight fire. Straight fire, bro. And then I had some records that I was kind of thinning the
collection. I had some duplicates and stuff. And I went down to this record store in downtown
Santa Cruz, this new one lane, you know, the little one of the corner next to the big ol'
tree. Yeah. It's kind of cool, right? Just like, just picked them apart. Just like,
this is the worst shit. Like we could, you could donate these if you want, but
we're really not interested. Damn, dude. All right. I see how it is. I don't know.
Were they just like scratched or what was? No, no. They were saying that they're just
too common. It was like a Billy Joel record, a Steely Dan, that kind of stuff. I had a
Bob Marley, but Rolling Stones can go fuck themselves. And then just kidding.
Lane, any audio in your house? You listen to music? I don't have enough. I would love to have
the act of putting a record on is very neat. I think it's a cool thing. Also, the warm tones.
That's right. I don't, I don't really have much. We just have a shitty, you know,
I have like a good little Bluetooth banging Olson speaker here in my garage.
That's like really nice and sounds good, but it's like, you know, it doesn't have any
of those analog feels. And then upstairs, we just have a stupid like Amazon thing,
you know, that you ask it to play music, you know? Yeah. Just banging.
I would love to have that though. Like a full set up. I think though,
it's nice. I think I'll be very nice dude to just like in the evening, just put it on and
like stick to one record. I love the idea of that. And I would love to do that. Yeah. We,
especially during COVID and it's kind of carried on here and there, but a record during dinner,
pick one out, put it on. We do that. Yeah. We put music on. Yeah. It's fun.
Morance is the CD player. It came to me finally. Yeah. There you go. And a bonus trivia for those
listening, the old speakers out of my tundra, which are 25 years old paper speakers on eBay,
go for how much for the set? Dude, shit. Oh, are they worth selling dude? I would never have thought
so. $50. That's what I would have said. Oh, wow. 60 maybe they're banky. Okay. 225. You nailed it.
What the fuck 225? No way. 20 people asking 200. There's only like for the whole set for
four speakers and the tweeters, but they're literally paper old. Yeah. I mean, that's awesome.
That's actually kind of worth. Yeah. I'm moving along. I don't know. I'm just, I just want to
give them away, but that's, I did that. There's, there's my quick little update. Speaking of
giving away, you know, the cowcatcher air dam. Yeah. Yeah. I'm a 30 87 is specific original to
my car. I gave it away to a homie in town. So a speed shop in town. They're great. They're,
they're a detailer slash, you know, they do PPF and vinyl wraps and stuff like that and kind of
went off little like aesthetic upgrades. Good dude. And he is really connected in the E 30
scene here. And I asked him, Hey, do you know if anyone might want this? And he's like, Oh,
let me see. And I, how much do you want? I said to, I said two 12 packs of negative. Oh,
oh, you said it like that. Just like that. I don't know what you said, but the most important
thing is that I said it by a text. I said it by a text. I put the accents in the right places.
And, and so within one hour, he's like, he's like, he sent me a picture of two 12 packs in
the back of some truck. He's like, he's ready. So yeah, I mean, I gather worth like 500 bucks,
I guess. But again, like going through the motions though, like I just don't care. I think I would
have kept, I would have kept that and made like a wall mountain. I think it's a cool, like I'm
just like an automotive hoarder like that though. I think that's something I don't know. It would
have been cool. That's not that cool on the wall. It's like just the, just the air dam.
It's kind of cool. And it's so unique. I mean, it's one year only. Yeah. I mean,
like have it like dangling from the ceiling, like a model airplane. No, I was literally mounted
against the wall, like, you know, and maybe like that Cadillac cafe. Exactly. Exactly.
Dude, I mean, yeah, I thought about it for a while and you're better at just getting rid of
it than I am. Yeah. I looked at it and I was trying to figure out an angle like that.
I'll sell shit really cheap too. I would have like put on Craigslist for like, you know,
at least 200 bucks. Oh, we're talking about full. I just gave away a like a killer peak
design backpack just because hell yeah, bro to someone on our discord because they were asking
about which backpack to buy and I'm like, dude, I got this peak design one of you want it.
It's your sweet. I want it. I would have taken that. See, I got to ask. I got to speak up more.
That's right. But yeah, you're stoked people out like that's that's that's worth it. Right.
I hope to see it on the car eventually too. Like that that enough. Let that alone rather
than enough that alone is enough for me. It's like, like I'm great. I'm great that it's being
put to good use and someone actually wants it on their car. Like I definitely was it was over
that era. Well, you also you earned yourself a lot of E 30 community points.
Yeah. Yeah. That's really how can you put a value on that? All right. World Cool Co
says shopping for a newer daily 2020 or newer. If a six year old car with 40,000 miles had a
recent engine replacement, would you view that as a good thing or a bad thing on one hand brand
new motor on the other? Why? What if I said it was a Range Rover? Oh, God. He's such a glutton,
dude. I mean, I see where he's coming from. Like, yeah, a new motor, but there's so many options
without a weird story like this that I would probably keep looking. That's my thought especially
for car like this. Yes, I agree. And why would you want a car that's already had a motor done?
Like what's going to guarantee the next motor doesn't blow or whatever happened to it?
And then what is the it's like a new motor? What does that even mean with a Range Rover?
It's like a junkyard engine. Yeah. And everything's been taken apart unclipped.
Yeah. Everything's been fucked with. Yeah. I yeah, I wouldn't even consider it unless
no, I mean, even with like great records dealership, you know, all that stuff.
Unless it was a car that you can't find otherwise, I don't think so personally.
So you would rather have a car with all maintenance records in the original engine at 90,000 miles
than a car with a new motor that was taken apart and put back together? Yes, I would as well.
And like, is this what does this mean? Is that they buy a brand new engine from
it says Range Rover brand new motor, but you're right. That that can be very deceptive. It's
like, is it a short block? They like ran out of oil and it blew, you know, it destroyed the
cylinders, but they use the heads. I don't know. Like no, it's not a lot of times when I've noticed
when people say new motor, it just means they did have like a they did a head gasket. I mean,
that's the worst. And those people will say new motor and I'm like, you know, I mean, right.
Or like full restoration and had a paint job. Yeah, exactly. A shitty one at that. Exactly.
Yeah, I don't know. I'm just trying to think. I mean, I definitely am taking what you said
into consideration regarding like just stuff not always going back together, right? You know,
like that is a thing. I don't know what the standards are at a Ranger over dealership assuming
that's where it was done. But I mean, maybe not just based on the how new it is.
I don't, I just, I guess I have a feeling that with something like this, it's got to be like
sort of a weird, you know, it's too new for it to be like, you know, something that you did wrong
to the motor. It's not like this person's beating on it. The type of car, all of that stuff could
have got an oil change and they didn't put the drain plug back in, right? Or it's something
like that. Right? So I feel like, cause he's saying like the rest of the car is probably fine.
It's just like, that's fine. But then someone had to do an engine replacement, which is just
so much unknown weird stuff. Like I, and I'd have to see that like that would be a perfect
scenario. Like dealership brand new full crate engine, you know, all that. Although it is one
of those, don't you guys, like a lot of these cars have engine out all the time, right? Like
if they're working on the transmission, they'll take the engine out and trans like,
like it's like coming in and out all the time. That's a good point. Like service mode. Yeah.
Not to take a transmission out, but there's your variables. Like the motor shouldn't be
coming out at all. Unless there's some. Yeah. The only thing for me is like,
now, obviously this is now a whole other, it's a variable that is that, that can be problematic.
But like, can you just get one with 40,000 miles? Just like that's what I'm saying.
And then that has all the stuff. Unless it's a car that's really difficult to find or like
some weird deal, like really good deal, I guess, but even that is just not is unreliable because of
like a timing chain design that needs to be updated anyways. And now you have that update.
And so like, you know, which is a thing and like early, like if you look at early,
what is it? The F 30 BMWs, for example, right? Like those, those actually like have a thing where
the timing chain design, they're right is problematic. So, so maybe like there's an
angle there, but like in general, I think the rule is find a good car that's had great maintenance
and doesn't need it. Didn't need a motor, right? Especially if it's not a problematic
motor, right? Because what are you replacing? And also don't buy a Range Rover. All right,
moving on. Matt Ture says track daily scrap modern BMW wagon edition F 31 320 D X drive.
God, that just rolls, rolls off the table. Just rolls off the tongue.
E 61 535 I X drive or an E 91 328 I.
Where does this guy live? Why are we throwing X drives in here? I think that's because that's
all you can get. They really. Yeah. Did they make a rear drive? Like I thought so. F 31.
I thought maybe not a D. Maybe not a diesel. That's why he's pricing. I would. Oh, so avoid
the D at all costs. We know people that have had. Well, that's what he just threw in there right
now. Yeah. Yeah. So the F 31, F 31 through 28 D is out like right off the bat. They are finicky
as ice. Yeah. They look great. They do look good. Yeah. But they're even dealers can't fix them.
I'll just throw that. Yeah. Yeah. And we know people that have like they just can't fix them
is the thing, right? Yeah. That's a crazy thing. I think that might be a California slash
United States issue. Like maybe they're easier to deal with certain models over in other parts
of the world. Oh, that's true. Yeah. Cause technically the cars do run. It's just that
they have a mission system to issues, right? Like it's it's not that they're like they won't
be more rang. Yeah. Boomerang check engine light where you just like never get rid of it and it's
always something. So I don't know. You guys have any strong thoughts here? E 61 or an E 91.
I'm going, I'm kind of like feeling E 91 just because I like that size.
And what do you guys think? And that's also not an X drive. He said, and it's not an X drive. Yeah.
Yeah. I don't, I don't care. I don't need it. It's not important. And it's just more complexity,
more weight. There's been some killer ones on bring a trailer recently and they go for
pretty good money still. I think that's where I'm going. I like me an E 91. Yeah. They especially
like the LCI update, like the, with the little ridges on the hood, it's a great looking car.
And I feel like, yeah, they're pretty, I mean, that's just the inline six, right?
Yeah. So that is a scrap 328 D. Oh gosh. Yeah. Daily the 328 and then track the five series.
Make it, uh, you know, get it all tracked out. Big old all wheel drive track thing.
That's probably where I'm at. I might daily the five dude 61 life.
Yeah, it's tough. I don't know. Actually, the the wagons do look okay. The it's those sedans
that I hate. So yeah, that is true. That is true. And I don't know if they made a rear drive. So
I mean, I guess it is just you just stuck with X drive, right? That's what I'm surprised to hear
that. Yeah. I definitely feel that that was the case for the diesel wagon in the U S the three series
sorry, but not for the the E 61. Yeah. And then those had the turbo charge sixes. The turbos
didn't hold up very well. I don't know if there's like a fix for that, but that's they have high
pressure fuel pump issues that were never resolved and they also have turbos that will fail eventually.
So it's just part of the drill. Yeah. So if that E 91 is an n a in line six, that automatically
gives. Yeah, that's daily daily driver duties right there, but also more reliable on track,
but you can go bigger power, probably upgrade all the turbo shit and all that stuff on the
on the five series. Yeah, I would my mind goes to avoid the turbos aboard avoid all wheel drive.
So that that's why I want to daily that personally. Good point. All right. Last question.
Fiddle lighted fiddle it is. Talk us through the mind of someone who parks their beater beside
a fun cool sports car that clearly parked in a corner of a parking lot to isolate themselves.
Go Art, you have thoughts on this. Dude, I mean talk about the mind. I think it's just
there's a couple things. It's they're either just completely oblivious like they that that's
probably the majority of people, right? And then the other folks are like maybe they want to be
close to the car because they see it there and they like actually are attracted to it and want
to get a closer look and they're like I'm already here. So like that's probably what I'm the one
goes through their mind, but I think that for the most part, most people are just totally oblivious
and just park like ass next to you when you're totally trying to isolate. I have a picture
that I will post today. Maybe as a story because it's not worthy of like a proper photo or a post,
but it's it's exactly this. It's I parked. I was picking my kids up from the from the swim class
and I parked my E 30 backed up in the last spot all the way up against these like hedges
and somebody in a Prius parked almost diagonally next to me over the line.
It's like the most like stereotypical thing possible.
And was there other spots like available? Absolutely all the way down. Yeah, that's a
weird thing to parking far away as well. Yeah. Yeah, I have the same thoughts. Good on you mate.
I thought you're going to get into your like parking next to the shopping return. Dude,
I'm still winning on that one. I think I also keep threatening people with making a post of a
collection of these, but I do have a collection of my fun like or it's like not fun like good
parking spaces where it's like you're between two pillars and then like you're, you know,
like that sort of thing like isolated or oh you document all this stuff. Are you lucky? Yeah,
oh dude. There's one at SFO. I had a spot that was like partially in an island.
We're not talking about parking spots from fucking three years ago. Just tell you,
I'm telling you, this is real dog. I like it. I like when there's a section next to you that
like is too small to be a parking spot, so they put like hash lines over it and you use
like a third of that and then you get that buffer. Dude, that's like that's exactly what I'm talking
about. There's an SFO in that parking structure. There's several of those and I would always go
for those and I have a bunch of photos from over the years doing that in memorial. So it's an
album dog. I would be happy and pass here. I remember you little parking spots. Are you guys
ready for trivia? Yeah, there's one. I'm so excited now. See, I can't stop thinking about it
real quick. I'm not ready for trivia. There's one in front of the Metrion at the Mission
Street garage, which is a parallel parking space with no spaces in front or behind it,
and you're just like the end cap to this where the road goes over the. It's like the exit goes
underneath you. That's it. That's a gangster spot. Even sounds like a dream. Oh, I think it's
OG. It's kind of OG. Thanks. All right. You guys good to do trivia. I'm going to roll LFG.
It's trivia time. All right. There's been a lot of a
in talk of high speed rail in California and the need and who's going to use it and all that.
I have a question for you between the Los Angeles airports and the Bay Area airports.
How many daily flights in both directions are there?
No, no, no. I said between all the Los Angeles airports. There's four. Okay. There's four.
And there are three Bay Area airports. Okay. How many flights per day?
Art is eyes are closed. He's looking distant.
Kind of shaking. He's scratching his beard. Stroking his beard. Stroking his beard.
Lane looks lost, but still thinking. I'm going to say 30 an hour.
Really that many 18 hour day for 18 hour days. Not early. I was thinking up for like eight hours,
right? I'm trying to make up some maths here, but I'm going to go with 200 flights. I don't know
30 is exactly the number. That's equivalent to a plane departing every six and a half minutes
for 18 hours a day. Yeah, it's pretty solid. That's a lot of flights back and forth back
and forth back and forth. Southwest Airlines all day long. So that's so that's Oakland SFO
in Sacramento, Oakland, SJC and SFO. Oh, gotcha. Okay. And then you got LAX Long Beach Burbank
and Santa Ana. Cool. 130 flights a day. Good job, Lane. Thank you. So it didn't include,
I mean, SBA dog. I mean, that's got to be, that's, that would totally change these numbers.
That's not in the LA area. Unless you want me to call you LA, bro.
Keep LA out of SB Lane. You recently posted, you recently posted about the Toyota RAV4 that you
taken pictures of and such. Yeah, I think it's so rad. And I was like, I'm going to,
I'm going to check on bring a trailer, what these things are doing these days,
and these are going to come up, you know, and guess what? They have the
page for every model now. It'll be like, you know, 911, blah, blah, blah, and have a photo.
Your photo is the photo. No way. On bring a trailer. That's cool. It's the one of it up,
like kind of on a little hill, you know, like three quarter, three quarter. I would say they're
others. I like there's cars that just there aren't photos taken of them. And I think that's
one of those cars. Like, you know, now they're getting a little love, but yeah. Oh, was that
during the, the one at Lemons, the Radwood at Lemons? No, this is no, no, this is the,
the red rad, the red. No, it was a car that my portion mechanic Mario owned and I took pictures
of them to sell it on BAT. Oh yeah. The soft top. Yeah. Yeah. Had the red
interior and spoke wheels. Sorry. Try spoke till you die. Spokes. That's right. Yeah. That
car dude. So I drove that. It drove really well too. It drove like a brand new car.
That thing was in really nice shape and I literally bought the alpha like the week before
and I was like, if I hadn't bought that, I would buy that right now and I would probably still
have it today because it fit four people and it's so much more perfect little beach car.
Exactly. You don't have to think about driving it. It's just like cruise around and use it
like a car. Good dude. And it drove really well. It was an odd, and it was a manual transmission.
Yeah. That's sweet. Yeah. It's killer dude. And that's kind of the holy grail. It's manual,
all wheel drive soft. By the way, that, that post gets is getting so much love on there.
Oh, really? I know because it's like underdog. It's an underdog car. Yeah. It has like 40,000
views or something. Like, yeah. Awesome. Like, you know, hundreds of shares. It's great.
The last question here. It is the winter Olympics currently to all those who celebrate. Also,
congratulations to the CLC Hawks. I did nail that prediction, by the way, but solid 50 50 chance.
Oh, no, I said domination. I said domination and it was nailed it.
And winter Olympics. I don't know if you guys are watching, but it's been fun.
And just so you can feel if you're over the hill or not, what is the oldest winter Olympian
this time around? Oh, it's probably one of those shooters, man.
Those dudes are like, so what's her name is like 40 or whatever. Lindsay. Yeah.
But I'm going to say like 63 or something. Is it like for chess or what? What's the
shooters? Winter chess, like the shooter dudes. The ice chest. Yeah. Yeah.
All right. You're saying 62. Is that what I heard? Yeah. Old is ice. I'm going to go
50. That's a good guess. Oh, mine wasn't good. Yours was off. Art wins. And I'll tell you why.
It's a 54 year old. Oh, I was so close, bro. U.S. U.S. men's curling alternate. Hell yeah.
Dude, alternate. He's ready to go. If anyone breaks their arm curling, he's in it.
Does he claim he's an Olympian? Yes, he's on team USA. Oh, whatever. And by the way,
he's also a personal injury attorney in Minnesota. What? Oldest American to ever compete in the
winter games. 54. If he even throws a curling stone. The other notable athletes though, dude,
Claudia Regler is 52 and she's a snowboarder. Austrian snowboarder 52. That's impressive.
And then you got Sarah Schlepper, 46, Mexican Alpine skier. You don't hear those words combined
very often. Oh yeah. That's like a Jamaican bobsled. I know. And then down the list here,
another curler, Canadian figure skater, Deanna 42. But yeah, 54. So if anyone out there listening
is thinking, maybe it's not too late. You got some time. I might train.
And then when they have poker come out or a botchie ball or I don't know, dude,
dude, like fan geo, when his last championship, when he was 50 something. Yeah, but that was
like, where are you guys out on winter Olympics, dude? I love the Olympics. I love the Olympics.
I mean, where are you out between summer and winter? Oh, you prefer you're saying. I mean,
I like them both. I think I'm a winter boy. Okay. Winter boy. I like it's less,
it's less like judging, I feel. And more about time. It's like the rate. I like the racing aspect
and it's like high speed racing. It's not just running, right? Hurdles or whatever.
And there's a lot of figure skating is all fucking judging. Yeah. And like a lot of that,
a lot of that freestyle ski snowboard stuff is all judging and yeah. Yeah. I just love the
fucking slalom and the big and the big like going 70 miles an hour. We're going 90 dude.
Those lines, it's, it's, it's like race car driving, but like I'd say it's saying dude,
and they're on fucking skis. It's unbelievable. 90 miles an hour and having to set up for a turn
and then like keep your legs bouncing in your head. Strong as fudge. It's so impressive,
dude. That's why I was like, Lindsay, whether no ACL, I'm like, how are you going to do this,
dude? Obviously she didn't do it. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's, yeah, it's, it's hardcore. I mean,
and it is very cool because I feel like there's a lot of relevance to driving, right? Like as
you just talked about, like the way that it's all that stuff is your, your, your, your line, balance,
weight distribution, all that stuff. But I have to say, I stopped watching the winter Olympics
when they got rid of ski ballet in 2000 because well, don't worry. That's where they have ice
dancing, which is like, this is a sport, but yeah, dude is a very, very Australian chicken
to come out for the break dance. Yeah, she switched sports, dude. Right there. Break
dancing, dude. That's a sport now. Like what is happening? I was watching ice dancing. I'm like,
how is this in the Olympics? Like it's very, I mean, you have to be very physically athletic,
but it's all, it's set to 90s music this year too, by the way. It's all Radwood fire. So they had
like Madonna and Bel Biv DeVoe and it was fun. It was fun ski ballet replacement.
That's super G and like the high, the big slums are so rad.
Real quick. Sorry. I just need some validation here. Did you see the text that I just sent you
guys? Because look at that image and tell me that isn't an OG parking space horn.
You're sitting. How sick is that? Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, I mean, I, I can appreciate it,
but then you're in a spot here where people are going around the car constantly. Oh my gosh.
Dude, you miss a turn right there. You're gonna get side swipe for days. Oh, that thing's
dude. That's so clean art. How sick is that? That's a great and are you standing in a parking
spot when you took this picture because someone's going to back out into your car? Sure. Yeah.
You don't know how wide that is right there. You're talking about one door ding versus
a hundred cars driving past it constantly. Well, I'll tell you that I park there every
time that I got a chance and I never got a door. Yeah, I got a door to get the fucking YMCA
because some stupid ass lady with a spurious broken next to broken clocks right twice a day. You
know what I mean? And you have to know how to parallel park the park there. Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
I think it looks pretty art, but we can talk about how well I'm going to put it out there. I'm
going to share it. Well, I have to make a post. Make sure you say yes. I am standing in a parking
spot that some person could back into the car easily and am I I don't think I'm parked that far
and I like the parking spot starts behind me, which is to see where I'm standing. It's not
even striped. It's like the parking. It's really wide there on purpose because they make a really
wide radius for trucks. So to all those trucks driving by you're a trucker. All right, let's
go.
