Lucid confirmed it will launch its third vehicle,
a $50,000 mid-size SUV with some off-road upgrades,
sitting a little bit higher LED illuminated roof rack.
Going on sale in 2027 based on the Gravity X concept
following up the air and the gravity moving into,
well, they're not cheap vehicles,
but £50,000 are much more mass-market EV segment
than until now Lucid has been operating in.
Mercedes-Benz will offer the C-Class electric next year.
When it arrives, it'll come with 497 miles WLTP.
Man, could they not eke out three more somehow
and get the big 500 headline number like BMW's I-X3?
Doing it with a small battery though.
94.5 kilowatt hours, brutally efficient this vehicle.
400 kilowatt DC fast charging, no deal on pricing yet,
but that can't wait.
A C-Class electric with 500 miles of range.
The competition, man, is hotting up.
Pop, a power co-op is the battery bit of Volkswagen
showing off their new unified cell at the Unix IAA show.
This offers 10% improvement over prior versions.
It is the platform itself could take LFP,
Sodium-Ion, NMC, even Solid-State technologies,
and it'll be first seen in the new Urban Family car line.
So the Volkswagen cars, the ID Polo,
the Skoda version, the Coupre version,
all coming with this Ferrari revealing a new plug-in hybrid car
and throwing back to the 1980s as well.
I love this.
The new Testarossa was shown off in Milan ahead of the
first fully electric Ferrari car.
Octopus Energy is already operating in Germany,
but now they're rolling out something that we have here
actually in the UK and that is they will give you
an EV lease, obviously a clean energy tariff,
a charging solution, some kind of EVSC,
access to the electroverse charging network,
which sponsored this podcast, full disclosure,
in Germany now as well.
Plus over here in the UK, they did their power pack bundle
with BYD.
So that is a car that fully integrates into the grid.
Not sure it's fully launched yet, I'll look into that.
Meanwhile, BMW and EON say that they are launching
Germany's first vehicle to grid system.
That enables the new BMW iX3 with the new BMW Allbox
professional to hook up to the grid with a tariff from EON.
Yeah, vehicle to grid is amazing and it's so close to just
just going mainstream.
It just needs big car makers and big utilities,
probably in countries that have a single national grid
to begin with to just align the stars.
And then, I can't wait to see how quickly it is adopted.
They say in this case, Germans could earn
€120 a year by energy trading from their EV.
The EU wants to move to localize the EV industry.
The President Ursula von der Leyen saying the future
of electric vehicles must be on home soil,
making €1.8 billion available to companies
that invest in Europe for Europe.
Polestar CEO says don't change the rules now.
Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis and BMW all fighting hard
to make the European Union look at its 2035 emissions
regulations.
Polestar CEO Michael Loschler saying,
hang on, these are the rules we've all had for ages.
We cut our cloth accordingly and have launched an EV only brand.
And now you want the rules changed?
That's not fair.
EU's truck CO2 report shows that EU trucking
is cleaning up and that's a good thing,
but not because they're going EV because the diesel cars,
diesel trucks are becoming more efficient.
Come on, we need more electric trucks out there.
Rivian CTO has been visiting the IAA show.
He's got a dual role.
The CTO there and the CEO of the new Volkswagen
Group Joint Venture.
First vehicles coming out are going to be Audi's
and Volkswagen's with Rivian software.
And battery swapping is being rolled out in Madrid
with the free to move car sharing service
to swap batteries and get back on the road.
And that's briefly.
The holidays are expensive.
You're paying for gifts, travel, decorations,
food and before you know it, you've blown way past
