LIVE
This is a professional radio, gentlemen.
And it's front wheel drive.
Sorry, have you got anyone you want to thank?
Just myself.
And now we do the after hours.
General, what would you go for?
They see us in there.
Ok, and because it's not a super car, it's not.
Ordinary perfection comes in the form of two letters, A and U.
Long live my LTD.
Welcome to Car Talk.
It's Tuesday night here on 9 o'clock at 9 North West FM.
It's me, Matty J, in the studio with Mr Chad DeBell.
How are you Chad?
Hello, I'm good.
I'm online with Mr Edward Tom Bunting.
Hello.
And Mr David Prince.
How are you gentlemen?
Good evening.
Well, thank you.
Yes, good.
You've got to go.
Yeah, good.
Yeah, good things.
Yeah, good things.
Sorry, that's it.
We're also joined by the one and only Scotty Doe Johnson.
Hey, I'm doing well.
Thank you very much.
Hello, everybody.
Hello, Scott.
Good to see you guys all in the...
Well, jeez, I'm losing my mic.
There we go.
All on the interwebs and in the studio.
Mr Week was on camp in our nation's capital.
Had a chat with Albo.
Now because of me, it looks like World War III is about to start.
Yeah, great timing.
Great timing.
But doing my bit for the international relations.
Good.
Trying to help settle things down.
I think I made it worse.
Let's crack on with some car updates and updates of you guys.
Edward Bunting, how are you, my friend?
I'm very good.
It's been a little while since I've been on, I think.
As the kids would say, it's been a minute.
It's been a minute.
What cars did I have last time?
You sold everything.
It's true.
I did sell everything.
The Lexus even?
Sold, yeah.
So I'd sold everything and then I bought back because I had nothing.
I bought the Honda Integra that I owned five years ago.
So this is a 92 Torino Red LS automatic Integra.
Very tidy little car.
And I sold it to a friend five years ago and he's enjoyed it for that time.
And he joined the club and did all those things.
But he's got a little kid and he's just finding like he doesn't have the time
to sort of look at it and drive it.
So he said, do you want to buy it back in?
And I was like, okay, if the price is right, I will.
So I did.
So I've been roosting around in the Integra for a bit.
Someone did try and break into it, which...
Oh, no.
Well, they didn't try and break into it.
They did break into it.
Fortunately, they just sort of buggered the driver's door lock
and didn't bugger the ignition.
So I...
What was this?
A couple of weeks ago, I think.
A couple of weeks ago.
And that was just like outside your place.
Yes, just parked outside my house.
You know, Edward, just saying, for where you live, you've had your trailer stolen?
Yeah.
You've had all these things.
I've never had anything else really.
Just the trailer went missing and now this.
Other than these two, I don't think I've had anything touchable.
The leafy inner east.
Yeah, yeah.
So Integra's are still desirable to some people.
Funny, my Renault has never been touched if I leave that out.
Anyway, so I've since sold Integra.
That's going to live up Country Victoria with a young girl who's picking it up this week.
And yeah, I've enjoyed driving it around and going to a new home and she's very excited about it.
So good.
That's Integra.
Then I bought a Subaru Outback.
Nice shape from 04.
That's the first of that sort of nice newer shape.
So it's got the bonnet flutes and you know, that's a very nice design that car.
Gen 4 Liberty based on that.
I think they ran them through till about 2009 or 10, maybe 10.
Then it was that sort of more boxy one with a CVT.
You don't like as much.
That is for me the best looking Liberty.
It's a good looking car.
They're 20 something years old now.
And they still look good.
They absolutely nailed that.
Is that the one with the big rear garnish between the tail lights?
Or is it the one after that?
No, it's the one after that.
So I bought this Liberty.
I did buy that from the auctions.
And as we know, that can be troublesome.
I did go out and look at that.
Actually, I bought it before I bidded on it.
And yeah, it looked really good.
And it is really good.
I've since had it road worthy.
I've put some tires on it.
But the mechanic said this is one clean car.
And I drove it up to the country on the weekend and back.
And like last night, I came back in the, not last night, Sunday night,
I came back in the terrible rain, like just piss down rain.
And the all wheel drive in those is so secure.
So I was very, very impressed with that Liberty.
Sorry, it's an outback, outback.
Drives really well.
My brother had a drive.
He liked it.
So yeah, we re-equated with a Gen 4 outback, which is a good thing.
Anyway, a mate of a mate wants to buy that.
So he's coming tomorrow to pretty much sign for it and take it away.
And I'm happy he's selling that to him because it's a, you know,
it is a good car.
Everyone's, everyone who's touched it says, geez, this is clean.
And I'm like, yeah, that's right.
It is.
Then, um, in a moment of weakness, I have purchased something.
I almost sort of said I'd never buy again.
You did it again, didn't you?
You did a VW.
No, not a VW.
No, I did.
Last time I had one of these, I was like, that's it.
The people who buy these are just morons there.
I'm done with the, I'm not having another one.
But, you know, then when one gets put in front of you and it's, oh,
geez, it's got a good history and, you know, it's a nice sort of,
I felt sorry for it.
I thought I need to sort of help it a bit, this car.
So it is a Saab 900i hatchback from 92.
Like those.
Yeah, like, so it's the, it's the old proper Saab.
It's got the wrap around windscreen.
It's auto, which is the one you want because the manuals,
you can't get parts for anymore.
Yeah, they're very, they're, I've heard that from so many people that
these are, can't get bits for those, can't get bits for those.
So you don't actually want the manual, whereas the auto is like a
Borg-Warner, like a free speed or whatever.
It's nothing exciting, but it works.
I think the manual gearboxes are actually made of parmesan cheese.
There you go.
But you have to, they're very ordinary gearboxes, the manuals.
Yeah.
So this is a, they're an interesting car, you know, front drive,
longitudinal engine.
I took this for a little fang on, when was it, on the weekend,
just to see if I wanted it.
And the paint's faded off the bonnet and the roof and it's got a big,
it's got a decent sort of whack over the wheel arch on the back right,
but it purrs beautifully.
And, you know, I popped the bonnet, it was a hot day Saturday
and I sort of popped the bonnet to see, all right, how much oil and water
and everything's pissing out of this thing.
It's really dry.
It just ticked over like a little Swiss watch that it is.
And I thought, hmm, all right, I think I'll buy you one owner,
full service history, every single stamp in the book.
So 260,000 K.
So it's done a bit of work.
But yeah, motors are long really nicely and they're so solid.
David and I was going to say, you shut the door and the boot on those
and they're just boom, they're very, very solid car.
I was speaking to someone about them, one of those yesterday, actually,
I work and I was saying, or turbo one, but they are a really,
really cool first like kind of collector slash enthusiast car.
They're worth nothing.
Yeah, they're still worth nothing.
It's worth nothing.
Well, having said that, a really nice turbo is worth money
and a really clean one.
They've gone up a bit in recent years.
So there's one online for sort of eight or nine.
I think if you had a really cracking coupe in a cool color,
you know, you might be sort of between five, 10, 12, somewhere there maybe this one.
Like that fuchsia with the tri spokes and a turbo.
Yeah, yeah.
Beautiful.
This one, unfortunately, is dull gray with hubcaps.
It's not exciting spec wise.
I thought, oh, it's not much money.
I'll save it.
So I just was giving it a clean before the show.
I gave it the interior a bit of a disole and, you know, I gave it a back
and they're huge in the back.
Like because the bottom of the back seat, you know, tumbles forward
and then you fold the back rest down.
It's completely flat.
It's a massive, massive boot for a two door car.
They're a cracker, cracking gun.
Yeah, I like that.
Anyway, I'm going to see what it needs for road worthy
and I might end up selling it with a roadie.
So I mean, a reg in road worthy, reg till July, you know,
reg in road worthy sub 900 coupe in an auto.
It's got to be worth something even though the paint's going off it.
You know, someone could put that straight on club plates
or just roost around in it for very little money.
Absolutely.
That's me.
I don't think I bought anything else.
So that's you, Mr.
Butting.
That's me.
Updates with me.
A few little drives in different cars in the last little while.
The SI cord is on club plates.
I'm not sure if that happened before the last update or podcast or
I think you said it got road worthy.
And so now has plates.
I took it out one evening last week.
Had to go up into the Danny dongs and it sailed up beautifully.
Running very well.
Got a nice full tank of premium before we, before it went nuts price wise.
Sat and then I swapped that over with the lovely tier Magna wagon
because there was a Magna drive on Sunday.
Did a Magna drive with some bit of a Magna 40 sort of catch up,
I suppose ended up at the car museum at Arthur's seat.
What else have I driven?
Oh, I actually had to go up the country on Saturday up to sale
and borrowed a Hyundai iLoad.
Had driven an iLoad in very far before, but gee,
they're a good old truck for what they are.
Very car like to drive.
I was surprised that they're as good as they are.
Bigger than what I need, but that's all right.
I won't be buying one anytime soon.
They need to have one to borrow it.
I had a birthday yesterday and got a couple of other.
Got some new Honda's with this Scotty.
Can you see these?
EG6, little Kato house.
Cool.
Primo one and the Kato house one.
Nice.
Straight to the pool room they're going.
Absolutely.
With a bit of a matchbox Honda Ridgeline.
I've got a super cheap voucher Matty.
So we're talking to you about that.
Absolutely.
Got to find some good bits and pieces.
A lot of fun looking for a car to fulfill the topic for tonight.
So that a bit later.
Absolutely.
Remind me, Matt, what is the topic?
It's like car of the week.
$10,000 or less.
You got it.
You got to find one for sale.
Yeah.
I've already got mine.
David Prince, you beat me saying it,
but happy birthday mate for yesterday.
Oh, thank you very much.
Yes.
I can actually get so.
Mate, you're 22 years old.
Relax.
It's okay.
You've got plenty of time left.
Plenty of time.
You've still got another, what, 78 years to go.
So that's.
Yeah.
That's an exciting and daunting prospect.
I'm going to say both that sort of time.
I know.
I know.
That's my reason to be.
I think the reason JC put you on this earth was to,
for you to be the Honda saver.
Honda Whisperer.
So move over Season Milan with dog Whisperer.
We've got David Prince.
I've watched that any day.
Yeah, so have I.
In thoroughly watching.
That's actually, that's reminded me the Honda Whisperer.
I, we had a car club event last Friday where we actually had a
sneak peek at the prelude in the super one.
That's being released this year.
Both cars are still embargoed.
We can't share any photos of them at the moment.
I mean, you can go on the internet and find them.
But yeah, both very, the super one, especially,
I've given my predilection for K cars is very exciting.
Little thing.
I'm very much looking forward to having to go in one of those.
Have they given an estimate on price?
No, that'll be confirmed.
They'll be actually officially released at the Melbourne Motor
Show, which is coming up in Melbourne on April 11th and 12th
of April, I think.
So yeah, given the fluctuations with the yen,
they're not, not mocking it in just yet.
But I'd really like to think that it has a three at the
start of the price.
Bring that car in under 40 grand.
I think it'll do really well.
If not, I don't know that it will.
But anyway, we'll see.
We'll see.
What's the Insta?
Well, they couldn't sell the Insta at 40.
Could they?
They say sell it off at that.
The Hyundai Insta.
35 something.
They are now.
They are.
Oh, they're dropping.
I think they were over 40 when they were first released and
they have dropped.
Those are full EV, aren't they?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Interesting.
They look kind of cool.
Oh, they do.
They look great.
I wonder how many they'd sell if they actually had made it one of
the cars that could do a dual platform and actually have a
one liter petrol engine in them.
I reckon they, you know, mid 20s, I reckon they do really well
with that.
But anyway, who am I to say they didn't ask me.
They're preludes.
Much nicer looking car in the flesh, I thought, than the photos
I've seen.
But remains to be seen how that can will be received.
I think a lot of cashed up old dudes that had preludes when
they were young might be the market for that car.
No one in your wheelhouse, David Prince.
No, no, no, no, certainly not one for me.
I did have a prelude, but it was a 79 model.
So quite a different kettle of fish.
That'll be your first gen prelude, right?
It was.
Yeah.
Black first gen with red interior.
That's very cool.
White wheels.
That's very Knight Rider-esque of you.
It was.
It was.
First and only black car I've ever had.
Never in my entire car career will I have another black car.
I'd wash it and it would be clean for about an hour and then it
would just annoy the hell out of me because it was not clean
anymore.
Yep.
Completely agree.
So that's you, David Prince.
Scotty Doe Johnson.
Me.
I think we left off with getting a Nissan note.
You did.
Yeah.
It's in the garage.
Yes.
It is in the garage now.
So that has been collected and picked up and she enjoys it.
It does everything that she wants it to do.
Seats are fantastic.
I haven't really driven it.
She just drives it.
I've been passenger princess.
Yeah.
Just learning all the bits and pieces that it can do and the
360 camera and all the sensors and how to turn all the beeping and
stuff off because it beeps a lot.
Even in reverse, you can hear outside the car it beeps.
Oh.
Like a bloomin' truck.
Like a truck.
Is it because it's AB and needs to make it sound?
Yeah.
So I've done all that.
It's pretty zippy.
So it takes off and goes all right, which is what she wanted.
That little bit more power and cruise control works on this one.
So that's all.
Scotty, I forgot to ask last time when you were talking.
What is the range on them with what's available on the battery and
then what can be charged to keep it running?
It's always electric.
That motor, the engine is not connected at all.
The engine's only connected to the battery.
Yeah.
So that's what I mean.
So it's running to keep charging the battery, right?
Not all the time.
It goes switch itself off when it's not needed.
So if you're just cruising, it's not going to be on because it can
get, it also can be charged through breaking, but through, you know,
well, not just breaking, but, you know, forget off the accelerator on that.
Yeah.
Watch it on the screen and see where it's charging, where it's coming from.
So what's the total range?
Yeah, you'd probably get a good average of like 800 kilometers out of it.
It's pretty fast.
That's really good.
It's about a 40 liter tank.
It's a pretty small tank.
It's not bad.
That's, I mean, it's like better than most electric cars.
Yeah, it really is.
It's like one, one point something leaders, people were saying, like you can,
you can try and manage if you're just tiptoeing it around and creeping around.
You can get like a thousand Ks out of a tank.
What year is this car, Scotty?
This one's 2018.
Okay.
So it's quite fresh.
Yeah.
It's pretty good.
It's impressive.
How many kilometers?
Really super interesting setup.
It's only got 84,000 kilometers on it.
That's nothing.
Yeah.
So you have all Japanese import household now, Scott.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And white too.
Pearl white, both cars.
Wow.
All three cars, Scotty.
Just all three cars.
Oh yeah.
The other one's white too.
Yeah, 31.
Not so pearl.
Scott, get a color.
White is beautiful.
White haters over here.
White is the new white.
White is the new white.
So she's enjoying that.
I did purchase some brochures and the, I guess, handbook that comes with the car.
I purchased that from Japan.
That should be on its way.
That was nice and cheap.
And I thought, why not?
Why not, Jand?
Why not?
The blades got it.
Might as well get it the same for this one here for the little note.
I got an intake for the blade.
It's a whole new intake system.
Can you say carbon fiber?
It is.
And it's real carbon fiber too.
It's not that pretend stuff.
Yeah.
So they make it to order.
So that's why it took a few months until I got it.
But it's made by, how do you say group?
Group M?
Group M.
Group M.
Group M.
Group M.
Sounds German, but they're Japanese.
So I've got that one.
Yeah, I wish the instructions were a little bit better.
The pictures are very average that you're looking at.
And the instructions are very, very vague on how to do it.
I would have had it done a lot faster if it wasn't for those instructions.
But I've got it hooked up now and it sounds absolutely insane.
The deepness.
It's a guttural roar coming from it.
Good word, Scotty.
Good word.
Guttural roar.
Yep.
Very deep.
Sounds good.
And now I'm just chomping through fuel all the time.
So you can easily just cruise and you wouldn't even know.
Just plodding along until you get probably two and a half to 3,000 RPM.
And you really get on it, then you start to hear it and you're like, oh, okay.
And then when you do floor it, it's, yeah, it's on.
It's loud.
It growls.
So yeah, I wouldn't say it really adds horsepower or anything like that.
But it just feels a little bit, a little bit more zippier without me having to turn on the little electronic acceleration device that I've got.
I don't need that at the moment.
So I got that and beautiful Maddie has collected my exhaust as well.
Indeed.
He has that ready.
It's all polished up and looking beautiful.
So I got it from Skomo himself.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Skomo had it on his blade.
After he got kicked out, he was pretty pissed off at elbows.
He was like, oh, I'm going to make the world a noisier place and put an exhaust on his blade.
So I picked it up anyway.
So I've got that one ready to roll when I can catch up with Maddie hopefully soon.
Tell you what, Scotty, that was the most embarrassing thing.
They kind of dropped it off.
Not nice.
Nice guy.
He dropped it off to my accommodation there.
And I'm just walking in with this exhaust into my room.
It was like, look at you.
What the hell are you doing?
Like, don't ask questions, please.
Did you steal that, sir?
Yeah.
He's just gone out there and ripped it off someone's car.
Catalina got a theft.
How did you bring it back?
On the bus.
On the coach, yeah.
Were you just holding it the whole time?
So I spoke to the guy.
I spoke to his name's Dean.
Big shout out to you, Dean and Lake's coaches.
Lovely guys.
They take us every year to Canberra and back.
And I'm like, I'm like, Canberra camp.
I'm like, Dean.
And he's like, yeah.
And well, I kind of sweetened him up a bit first.
And for some context, I didn't realize he was a car guy.
Then I found he's like, oh, yeah, I've got, you know, I've got a few cars.
He's got an SS.
He's got a VF, Kalei V8.
He's got, you know, obviously a 79 series Land Cruiser.
But he's had all sorts of like, you know, you know, cool Holden's and things.
He's a bit of a Holden guy, but he's a Japanese car person in particular.
If it wasn't for, you know, his Holden's.
And we got talking and, you know, I think the people in the bus,
like my other colleagues were sick of us just talking cars the whole time on the bus.
So I sweated him up, Scotty.
And I'm like, hey, look, Dean, think about bringing someone back.
He's like, yeah, man, I've got plenty of space underneath the bus.
I'm like, perfect.
So he wraps it up in like a, in blankets and everything.
So would he get doge for all the other luggage?
He did a good job.
So brought it back.
No worries at all, Scotty.
No worries at all.
Greatly appreciate it.
Thank you so much.
All good, mate.
So that's going to be the next step that'll go into the blade.
So then it's noisy at the front and the back for everybody out there.
That won't be overly.
The good thing is it's not overly loud only when you kind of put your foot down.
So you can still just plot along, which is kind of what I want.
Yeah.
You know, just yeah, none of that won't have any of that droney noise or anything.
And you can just plot along and no one will know just a sporty tone until you put your foot down.
So it's perfect.
Anything else?
I think that's about it.
Car wise off to the Grand Prix on Saturday.
So are you?
Is there going to be a Grand Prix?
I'm hoping to.
I'll let you know on Thursday, gentlemen, because I'm supposed to be there Thursday with the kids.
So there is Dave made their way over here.
They're fine.
They just had to make different arrangements to get here.
You can't.
It's not a problem.
You can't just throw money out, you know.
Yeah.
They just don't know what to do about future races that are taking place in the Middle East.
So they might just get put somewhere else.
I mean, they did during COVID.
So they moved races around if they need to.
But yeah, should we go ahead that day?
That should be good.
I don't know if...
I don't think Honda does a display there, do they?
No, they're not doing anything Grand Prix related this year.
I think they just saw the Aston Martins out first.
Let's get that sorted out first.
Yeah, that's right.
It's not going well.
Let's start this year with the Honda and Aston Martin.
Oh, yeah.
A little bit behind the pace, maybe.
Just a touch.
Just a touch.
And it's just not as reliable.
I did read an article about it that said that,
well, if any manufacturer can rectify it in the shortest possible amount of time,
it's probably is Honda.
But yes, it's very unlike them, so I'm not sure what's going on there.
It should be interesting.
I'm really looking forward to how qualifying will go,
because we've only seen testing and stuff,
so we're not quite sure how fast they really will be.
So first of all, the red bull cars users are here,
as they drive fast.
Look at the wet belts, four warding chimes.
So that's going to be interesting.
And I want to see the V8 Supercars with the new Supra 2
that's whizzing around so that's interesting I think yeah there's heaps
of stuff to do off track I must say public car displays I feel is just the
same every year they wouldn't want to bring my car sometimes because the
amount of dust and stuff that it gets covered with and you got to leave it
there for quite a few days is insane so I understand quite a lot of people that
probably would pull out and not want to do it yeah for walking around there just
destroys the golf course and all that dead grass starts flicking up and the
dust and it just goes absolutely everywhere so you'd be cleaning your
car all the time but anyway that'll be next Tuesday I'll talk about what I
think about the Grand Prix mmm well that we both have some stuff to discuss
Scotty um mr. Chad DeBell updates with you my friend updates with me um what
did I do the week before I helped a friend friend of the show a friend of
people on this podcast Kieran go and pick up a Volkswagen T3 all right so
that car used to belong to a friend of ours who passed away a few years ago and
then his mother brought the car back put it on the road you know got a road
worthy and all that good stuff and then unfortunately caught fire like it the
first drive after getting back on the road so so she was kind of like I'm
done with this car I don't want to I don't want to deal with it anymore and
might not so it went to Kieran as you know like someone should take care of
this and someone should at least have it to enjoy sort of like Tom's you know
like legacy so we went and picked it up it was not bad it it was just an
electrical fire inside the cabin no inside the cabin it was inside the
cabin and it was under the it was the auxiliary battery that ran like all the
electrical stuff and fortunately Tom wasn't known to be the best electrician
in the world so I had very questionable wiring and we think that was the culprit
of the catching fire which was surprising because I didn't get picked up on
the road worthy which I thought it would have been a auxiliary electric system
so anyway we got the car going they didn't need much it pretty much clicked
over straight away and like it was going and then yeah we drove it from like what
was the area somewhere in the Hastings sort of area to Cranburn to a friend's
yeah I'm trying to remember the Baxter or something back to south somewhere
around there and yeah we drove it to Cranburn South to a friends farm and
yeah so did its first trek and it was sweet as I've followed in a car behind
and made sure you know anything didn't catch fire no had a lot of electrical
issues though none of the lights or indicators worked pretty much but
apparently drove great so it was it was on the freeway they took it on the freeway
and it was good it was good you know no issues and so we got the car back and I
think hearing gave it a nice cleanup to see you know sort of like what needs to
be replaced and it's just bit of like wood carpet etc so I gave my hand with
that we got we got a little bit done on it and then I think it's already booked
in for a roadworthy to go back and just it only just had a roadworthy like I
don't know three or four months ago well okay and it had like seven
grand worth of work just before it got a roadworthy so it was you know like it
being sorted out mechanically pretty much like it had everything done all
bushes or brake system you know engine service and whatnot so it was um yeah
it's yeah you know pretty much ready to go for another roadie and hopefully you
know pass and sit on the road which would be nice what else I decided I would
try and you know get the Merc out and at least give it a run and whatnot just in
the driveway and stuff and I couldn't get it going I would not crank over
whatsoever so I just thought maybe it's a bad fuel it's just bad fuel again I
drained the fuel a few months ago what was in there was really bad like it was
it was paint varnish right and I you know how bad that's old fuel smells like
it's just terrible terrible smell anyway I got my I thought I got most of it out
but I think because I had the car jacked up it had still a little bit left in the
tank so I put a little bit of fresh fuel in it a few months ago and you know I
got the car going so that it could go in and out of the paint booth while it was
getting painted well the undercoat at least and and then the car came back to
us to my place and you know it drove off the tow truck and all that stuff no
issues and I haven't been able to get back onto that car to do some stuff on
it until you know I thought on the weekend I'll give it a go couldn't get
started now I thought okay there's something going on I don't know what it
is I I knew that I had damaged one of the main fuel hose coming out of the
tank I put a split in the hose like by I was trying to clamp it and I actually
broke the hose and it was just really old the hose so I thought you know it's
gonna need it's gonna need to be fixed anyway so I ripped that part out I drained
the rest of the fuel that was left in the tank I got the fuel pump off because
it's one of those external ones that sort of sit underneath the car and I
tested the pump and I only just bought that pump back in like August or
September or something and it just seems to be dead so I'm gonna yeah like it's
a it's a new pump and it's not a very expensive one but still like I'd expected
to last more than a year. I had that same issue with my R31, this one's a bit different this was the internal but I didn't have the pump for long and it just
failed and died so I had to replace it again with the new one and it's been working so
odd. I don't know whether it's just the pump was faulty or it was I don't know
the fuel that went in somehow killed it or something but I wouldn't have
expected it for it to die this quickly so I'm gonna try and take it back to where
I got it from and hopefully they'll you know all of the warranty or something and
but yeah I can't like I put 12 volts on the battery and I just wouldn't it would
do nothing. It would kind of like click but it felt like it's seized so yeah
some some weirds going on there but I decided I'm gonna replace the fuel filter
while I'm there because I didn't get to do it last time so I ordered one of those
and I'm looking at trying to get that piece of fuel hose remade because it's
got all these like hard-blind fittings on them so I need to probably just take
it to a hose shop and get them to just copy what it is yeah and just remake it
because I looked up the Mercedes price and they're like 400 bucks plus like
shipping from Europe which is just insane prices so in the end it would be
like 600 bucks to get it here just for a piece of pipe yeah I'm gonna give some
people a call this week and see what they can do for me I'm getting that one
on the road and start getting it on the road yeah I'm gonna my plan was to like
start putting all the body parts back on it so that I could sort of see what
I'm missing and what else needs and what else it needs and then yeah hopefully
you send it off to a paint shop to get a get a base of paint on it call a layer
of paint put on cool and then so what else did I do that's pretty much it on
the Merc I started putting some of the door seals and rubbers and stuff that
was taken off while I was getting undercoated I started putting them back
on then I got rained out so I just sort of ran out of time with it that's pretty
much it I think that's all I've done with cars yeah so updates with me what
have I done well obviously I was away last week but I had my car my laser all
serviced and things it was it was due so at service I flushed the gearbox fluid
and put an additive in there so that seems to be a lot quieter and a lot nicer
to use so you just had a whirring noise it was that like bearing noise and I'm
like and I took it back to the place where they rebuilt it and they're like
nah it's fine it's normal I'm like oh I just don't I don't I don't think so
it doesn't sound normal it doesn't sound normal because I never did before
so um now I flushed the flush the fluid um and put um some additive in there that's
super quiet it just slides into gear a lot nicer now so yeah that's that's better
that's better new front brakes discs and pads what else did I do I did a rocker
cover gasket um just because it just had a wee play wasn't it leaking or anything
I was like I was thought properly because that car will soon be going in for a
roadway to get club plates which is exciting
ooh yes so so that's that what's your daily mat what are you gonna daily the fiesta
the fiesta you know rack up some k's rack up some k's on the fiesta so between
between that and the Forester Stephanie and I will just swap yeah occasionally um so
Stephanie the drive the fiesta to the what's called to the to the station or um
or if it's like a really really you know miserable day out there and I'll just take
the Forester which you know better better for as you know they uh uh Edward for all
we drive grip in the wet yes all the way we like that I don't really like the idea of
that really nice fiesta sitting at a station neither do I uh Edward Bunting I think what
you need is a practical station car there we go try to sell you something
and I happen to have the perfect thing no no one will ever steal a Saab 900
it's a bicepuppet sell yeah it's starting early I'm not thinking of you I'm thinking of the fiesta
I would not leave that car sitting at a station it's a fair point that is I started
not any damage and shout on it'll go missing yeah that is that is also true yeah you're
most people just think it's a normal Ford a taxi Ford anyway so taxi you should be afforded a body
kit yeah that's a BA Falcon put an XT body kit on it yeah it's like just just take the wing off
do we all take everything off right get it wrapped in yellow yellow put one three cabs in the roof
yeah and they won't know he'll be fine you'll be all right it should be should be fine I'll get
my dad's taxi mate and you fix it up oh yeah that would be funny do you know when there was
that each had all the different yellow a different shade of yellow that's what's been here so many
times do you remember that that GT that was a oh man that was the best thing ever so god I don't
know if you saw it in your in your own town gentlemen but there was this probably about five
six years ago it was it was still around then there was a there was a FG GT full taxi body kit
everything like it was and it was an operating taxi operating taxi operator so once going to the
airport it was just like yellow yeah absolutely there used to be a BA or BF GT as well I might even
be the same guy because I feel like that's so funny he would have just like bought that and then
upgraded to the FG FG yeah it's weird anyway yeah it's really it's looked so yeah no if it was gas
option it would have been I'm not sure I imagine running that with a VA you'd make no money you'd
be losing money so so yeah that I remember that that very very fondly my plan is if I am up to it
to install my fog lights this this weekend but I don't know if I'll be up to it for the MR2 to
get the retractable foggies going really excited really excited for that what else have I done
car related up to it I think that's pretty much pretty much on on my car car related things
so gentlemen uh topic of this evening is something that we we're synonymous for it is car of the
week ten thousand dollars uh your best vehicle uh for ten thousand dollars and then at the end we
choose who's who's chosen the best car now uh the way we do it we can either share our screens or we
can um show you a show via excuse me via your phone or what have you but I've missed this topic
because for ten thousand dollars you can get some cracking cars and you know you don't have to spend
big to to get to get you know a nice car these days you know funny story when I bought my laser
that was meant to be my brother's first car and I was looking at getting you know as he was getting
his piece I was going to get you know a car to to take over that as well as the daily duty and I
was looking at super liberties and I got one uh gen three looking at a gen three liberty for like
five grand uh rx manual sunroof you know really nice car my brother's like oh I could buy this why
would I want your bloody laser for so he ended up buying that and I and I kept the laser which is fine
but you know that was back then and like everyone's sort of like that's a nice car and my brother's
like that's five grand you know you couldn't you know it's it's a lot of car for five grand
we're looking at 10 grand and even though with inflation I still think 10 grand is a really
good budget you can you can have I mean on this show we've we've been famous for actually buying
some of these cars like we bought the barometer from from Queensland that was that the robot that
that was that was in this uh you know in this segment in this segment my mr2 was in this segment
you know so there's a few other you know bits and pieces that have come that have come along
along the way from from this particular segment so it's an expensive evening it's
just just ask Edward he'll he'll be the first I haven't bought any from the segment
yet you will when you see my car mr2 we are a little study
so so let's begin so I'm happy to show my car first if you guys if you guys don't mind
oh yeah go for it um that's gonna find out how do I go to my saved ones again
click your um so this is oh that warms my heart to think that you don't know how to do that
how do I computer
it's here anyway I found it all right so are you are you gentlemen ready to be to be amazed at my
ready to be dazzled dazzled yeah I've got my wallet out absolutely credit card and as you should
as you should so you need a first car okay but you want to something with a bit of go
what do you buy you buy a corolla uh not only is this a corolla this is an sx corolla
for a ge powered corolla it's got it's got um rpf ones in there so very similar to what was
saying was that that are on my on my on my laser um but it's photos and and born photos
it's in it's in really good look you know it's got the um you know um four ag small port but
you know still a reliable engine uh comes with the original wheels which are there in picture
which which is which makes Edward happy but yeah so 340 000 k's again a lot of kilometers
but as it says here comes with one month of reg no road really four thousand dollars in the
gosh we'll need to sell asap as I as I need to move it on then look at the needs um we'll come with
the pictures uh so we'll come with the um four grand we'll come we'll come with both sets of wheels
see the thing that stresses me about that is still is in the the line where it says
um sorry uh price to sell asap I need to move it on as I have as I no longer have the room
or the need who doesn't have the need for a person who doesn't have the need for an sx corolla
absolutely um so oh she sorry says won't come with the wheels picture that's fine that doesn't
bother me um but it will come with you the original wheels um cool little car yeah you don't
see many of these anymore like when was the last thing you saw in sx corolla lift back like they
just you know you still see the the old um the old hutchbacks still getting around but the lift backs
are quite my dad's got one but it's not an sx it's a csi or whatever they are they're just the
the shittest one issue but I love these because they come with all the extra gauges so like you've
got like your vaults and your and your um like they're they're really cool car leather wraps
they're all still looks in you know okay nick quite a gear lever yes yeah we'd we'd we could
we'd fix that real real quick don't worry about that but yeah it looks quite straight and tidy
you know and and and being a foray you know I'm quite capable I know what kind of goes wrong with
them you know I think that's but I thought for 4k that's a lot of car and that's a cool car for
4k because you you got all cars of coffee with one of those people like oh I remember those that
that's cool you would you'd have a you'd have a strong chance of winning cars and coffee with
with a car like that so general what do you think my carola my rock and roll
pretty good I reckon if you throw him like an extra grand you'll probably be able to get those
rims to cover the up yes yeah I think you would I think you would but it's it's it's a good little
tidy car it's something that you don't see often and and I thought for 4 grand it's a lot of car
because for a few reasons one any hot civic of that ilk or like you know like a VTIR is like
26 20 for 20 plus grand yeah you know and yes it makes it a little bit more power than this but
like it's kind of the same um it's kind of in the same ballpark really like and it's 4 grand
you're still getting the hot engine that engine came in in the AE86 so it's still it's still the
hot one yeah you know and it's still quite a sought after car and it's plenty of aftermarket
support if you want to go down that route or there's plenty of you know you know restoring
parts because people are you know really trying to preserve these now so I think for 4 grand um
you know I think it's uh and and also I've read it will come with the factory shift knob
also so so there you go so thank god for that so for 4 grand I think um I mean I'm done I'll have it
I think 4 grand is it's it's a pretty good it's a pretty good um basically the integral it's
basically integral correct manual the integrity a lot of glass in the rear window a lot of glass
yeah all the glass so I think for 4k um drive away more to pay because you need to put on the
right uh it's it's it's a it's a it's a great little future classic slash you know you can even
you can daily that and have a great time it's a good one it'll be it'll be it'll be a absolute ball
4 grand like that's a lot I haven't seen one of those for 4 grand in a long time
Matt you are wetting yourself over this guy I am I I like an sx corolla I'm not gonna lie
my friend in high school say it's a sexy corolla yeah yeah yeah yeah my friend in high school
you know where that car would look good tell me at the train station
yeah
now we get nicked at the train it's an sx
the sex pack isn't it man it'll have its heart ripped out for a buddy
4ac you know was he delivered corolla yeah yeah a k70s that was that hard for sure
my friend had one in high school it was I don't think it was an sx I'm pretty sure it was like
just a base model but it was all red so it had paint matched yeah bumpers yeah what a
bit of sex maybe well I just don't remember it being like fast though yeah but I don't know maybe
anyway it was it was hot too like he bought it like someone had already done it out it was tinted
low at an exhaust I remember that it was like one of the first manual cars in our friend group
yeah yeah so at least if I can take that thing around so much man it was really fun it was a
great car they drive one I had a sick system in it like it was the perfect first car perfect
I mean Scotty always said if he was to do his p plates again he'd buy a triple s polsar
you know and 100% like you know I did my my p plate is my p plates you know you know in a laser
six system you know oh just it was just how it's supposed to be yeah absolutely that's my first car
that's my car gentlemen my choice um who'd like to go next can I go next only because I had a
couple um saved just from since the start of the show right but because you've gone in a four one
of mine was also four I'm not gonna choose that okay um because you know we've got plenty of spare
change here now lots of change yeah so this is grand for mods six grand for months for a
discount for roadie for roadie seven grand for what yeah t3 so this is french
therefore it's exotic yeah it's uh it's from 1972 it's manual it's got okay it is a rare
fuel injected model can we guess can we guess it is a faba four nice that is awesome it's nice
it's a really clean car is it like a gray one uh it's sort of a tealy greeny gray with that tan
I like that um but it says you know if I regale you the ad this is the injection model ti 504 ti
becoming hard to find runs and drives great only for six years minimal k's
don't have um any use for it anymore you know not using it much blah blah blah you'd struggle to
find a better original example has been garage for the whole time I've had it don't have the time
drive it blah blah blah blah um has new battery four grand that's that's pretty good uh it's not
our wheels journalist friend is it um ed selling it uh are you selling it I don't even know let me
david is selling it david that's in victoria you can have that for four grand so you can have
your that is a good buy four that's a great buy two it's it's pretty and it's it's a it's a proper
classic like that that is a proper car down the side there that's just like the glue stuff for the
food my thing I think that they um with a tool here or is that beautiful import I
I don't look like the only some of them are assembled here um I don't know about the ti
though maybe they were full imports don't know but I like that for that's a lot of classic for 4k
heaps of classic for 4k a very usable classic too like they're a good car and you look exotic
and a bit cool and chic in that for 4k you do they can either be vice or you like the Corolla
or you can be cool exotic european chic
there's some funny words we're gonna need two different looks there you know I like it ed I
think it's a great choice all right who else who else has got a car david prince oh I couldn't
decide um hard to so I can't decide too hard too too tempting but probably the the I'll go the other
way I'll go mark down to 9999 uh 2003 daihatsu copen oh copen what's all the 99 yeah very rare car
low 120 000 k's it says 700 cc with turbo charger they're long at 660 they're longing 660 yeah turbo
charger intercooled five speed manual hard top electric in dark blue black sports seats electric
windows 14 inch aftermarket stereo full service books and service history on the nevus register
it says what does that mean well I was gonna ask you it's it's been really nice it means that it's
um no been registered before here yeah okay yeah I think that's what they're meaning like it you
know it's not a new import it's okay um because somebody you know what I mean like um it's been
here a long time in other words it's got a funny number on it actually a funny number played
in one of the photos which doesn't look like anything I've ever seen before interesting
give me the vin and I'll tell you if it's on the nevus register right now they had uh they've got a
cool little twin exhausts coming out the back they look a bit like a push me pull you they look the
same at the back as the front basically round headlights and round tail lights very famously
put to good use by Kel Knight the purveyor of fine meats from Katharine Timmons
he had a bright yellow one when he had his midlife crisis um the blue blue goes under the
radar a little bit very cool little car I don't know if it's listed actually
nine nine that's that you know that's that's a good car what nine nine is that a 2002 three
three okay yeah it looks very original and very tidy in the photos there's only five five photos
though um but yeah cracking little car and and like a third the price of a honda s660
yeah um it's a similar it's a similar concept really exactly a similar concept and but with the
cool electric folding roof too so I thought that'd be up to me nine nine nine nine got some photos
David Prince I haven't even got enough for um I actually put it on the chat oh cool it's gone
yeah not even enough for about the stamp duty on transferring the ridge but um
we'd make arrangements allowances for that absolutely yeah that number plays out a bit
funny now I look very closely yeah that's cool I saw the um I saw that smart four two you also
posted David that's all that was done up like the little tykes car yeah a little tykes car
I've seen him on the road actually um or one done up like that um I did think that was cute now
I've got grandchildren of course that was uh that was I thought that a smile on my face you can
you can have granddad and grandson we'll definitely we'll definitely have correct yeah can you see
the number plate on the back end does that look like any number plate uh is it in the chat it's in
the chat yeah hang on let me have a look what can't I see it it's in the facebook chat Edward
oh oh the facebook chat not this call chat no well while you do that David Prince I'm a fan I think
that's a I think that's a great choice 66 is that what's it sorry was it HR 66 the plate
but the configuration's unusual I've never seen that configuration
no neither have I I don't think at one moment please Scottie Doe your pick
oh all right here we go let us get this screen sharing if I can find out oh I think it's in
this one here oh sir green button see huge button David Prince is feeling really good
about himself right now we're all struggling with tech right we ready yeah let's do it here we go
sharing the screen
oh no way it's a 1997 Mitsubishi Lancer $7,000 it is probably the the best thing that you'll ever see
in your life um it's all about sex spec coming back it is but it is a bling wheels we've heard
yes yes you are correct it is oh my god that's hilarious what does it say what's the description
say Scottie um hang on let me just move out our faces over to the other side so I can read
he's selling his 1997 Mitsubishi Lancer mock-up sedan I don't understand
Lancer EVO mock-up it sure okay yeah I assume it's not even a real Lancer
even though it's more like a Subaru bonnet scoop but yeah correct from the yeah it's GC8
bonnet scoop going on there um red and black interior oh my goodness you actually see the
interior pictures oh you're going to just here we go the seat comes to it yeah that's
it I mean look at the back beautiful got a big wing there we go okay so the interior you're like
okay but you wait oh we haven't got to the good bit yeah checker plate format check
oh divine oh shag to the max that's shag to the max yes red shag to the trims
red shag door trims I mean that's that's just amazing absolutely geez look at the roof lining
RNX what does RNX mean I'll try we gotta figure that out who knows but it's beautiful it was
it says was used as a show car it was used as a show car and it's cheap on fuel oh just look
at the shag having a lamp with the wind-ups you've got to have the auto technique a steering
wheel too you do 100% you do and the binnacle insert painted the same same color yeah I think
my car was so classy this is a classic car it's a different car it's even got dies valves stems
these are genuine vault rims too oh vault savannah rims they were huge back in the day
everyone had vaults man everyone had vaults wow it's very clean in there it's a very clean engine
but you're not gonna lie the bonnet's really removed in that has been hey it's got a it's
got a D it's got a rated D shackle there's another bonnet there's a bonnet why not just have all
the bonnets how silver bonnet to go on car I mean how much the car doesn't look like that anymore I
think so it doesn't have it doesn't come with the carbon fiber some of the bits on it maybe
how much Scott is this amazing Lancer well this is only $7,000
when you read through everything it's got leather seats has seat covers to go with the car
five speed manual two 12-inch subs in the boot twin tip exhaust body kit dice shift knob
vault savannah rims all four have absolutely has tow point at front of car
so you only get a silver bonnet so it's going to be silver and green it's okay you don't get the
carbon fiber one no carbon fiber weight reduction but the car turns heads wherever it goes sounds
amazing and it's cheap on fuel whether you if you run 91 or 98 the car performs amazingly what's used
as a show car has been sitting for three years always garage has general wear and tear in body
kit but hey it's fiberglass it's easy fix kind of upset well come with a sad racing seat as an extra
as an extra a sass racing small oh this is too good do good to be true that's a bloody
no road worthy but that's okay it's even got the personalized plates that go with the car
which is outline e g r n for lime green lime green hell yeah if i had a mic i'd be dropping it right
and just to make it better it's located in balorat say no more
i think that interior is is wild crazy
the other is the shag yeah shag is nowhere else but on the door cards all about the shag
i've got a lot of fear what rnx means
with the windups absolutely well yeah weight reduction it's a race car david prince
of course it's just that's brilliant what a car oh i'm i'm a fan scottie i'm a fan you couldn't
pay me to drive that thing terrible and if that was the last car in earth and you had to drive
something would you drive it last time with my bad boy image oh well you're a bad boy now mate
yeah it's sort of i might fit into that absolutely now to finish us off for the evening chad
chad so just to give a context before we go that context of i ended up with three cars and
they were all all the same car and i've just chosen the best one out of the three of the same
is that the one i've clicked on the best one yes yeah this is the best one all right so i've
driven one of these edmund's had one of these oh okay yeah shall we go to or been in one of
those actually yeah go for it they're quite nice inside let's help let's see i actually wait let's
see if ed gets it yeah give him some hints okay okay well you currently have two of these in your
fleet hold this mate he's got three you got three now oh then it's a bit it's a benz okay right so
start there now you know we're talking you know i'm gonna throw some words out there see if you can
you know try and catch my drift we're talking elegance we're talking you know maybe you're
added with the mob we're talking okay so it's an e-class not quite well i'll keep going we're
talking model there is a country in europe who love these cars and it is albania is it is it an s class
is it an s class yep all right well w220 s class it is a w2 is it 220 here we go is it an s430
and it's 500 s430 there you go and uh in that cool purple metallic it's sort of like a burgundy
a deep burgundy there we go now rubbish absolute rubbish ad with rubbish photos but it's got all
black leather interior and a cool color to go with it and as i said i found three of these for
around the same size walmer silver walmer's black and this was i think the best how much is this
four grand so we're back on the four grand bandwagon four grand here go up a bit let me go now matt
that's a good car for the station i'll just go uh what was it i'm not sure it's not going
hey i'll tell you how much it's four nine nine nine nine yeah so drive away and then you have to
20000 but the 4.3 is a good engine that 430 engines a good engine scottie you can attest to this
you you've had one yeah yeah it's a good engine i'm not sure how well it will go and something as
heavy as that now the motors are good everything else is full apart but the motors are good yeah so
we've got a mobilizer we've got a lamp which is pretty much i think the same thing uh anthracite
leather which is interesting i've never really seen anthracite in that's just like as a color like
yeah sure park tronic what is park tronic is that regarding the parking sense yeah sense is about
nice zen on headlights you know nice and bright they've said they're around they've said bass
sound system i think they mean both sounds i was getting to that because you wouldn't
system which we wouldn't quite like bass sounds uh we've got walnut leather which is beautiful
obviously we've got wheel and gear shift lever which is leather uh all the s-class stuff obviously
these aren't i'm not sure these are selling points because every s-class has this pretty much i don't
think the english is very good no because they say absolutely the full condition inside absolutely
yeah okay interesting uh and then um yeah always garage i don't know about that that paint looks
awful here's photos there i just want to see yeah the paint i need to paint looks very cloudy
there's a good buff and these are good but you know i like it five grand man that's a lot of
half of five grand it's better than the kind of picture i think um yeah it's 430 there again
and it's uh is that a is that a long wheelbase too look at the back door i think it kind of looks
a bit longer though i think it's a yeah i think it's a long one too it's a long girl so so look at all
those electric brake public car were they suspension they were yeah yeah absolutely they were
ecstatic scott you know when matt drove mine years ago he said this is the smoothest quietest car
i've ever driven but that was before he driven that century that was before i drove the century
yeah century just made it so what was yours was yours a 430 as well yeah exact same as that s14
very nice very nice mate very nice man beautiful i've only done uh it had done 55 000 k when i bought
it and i was like 67 on it i think very cool yeah very nice riding automobile though yours
was a really nice car like that was a good option when they're good that was it yeah yeah that was
chelsea donnie blue which is a light gorgeous color oh yeah nice and it changes in the sunlight you
know it looks different it was one of those five layer paints that was only a nice s l and i think
maybe some clk's yeah it was not everything it was a lovely car that one hard for matt i got my
panel shop to spray the bumpers on it and they did a very good job matching it but it's it's not an
easy color to match so we have five cars all right let's just do a recap no sxcrawler you got the
sxcrawler hatch four grand you got the bourgeois favor for da four grand you got the mercedes
benz s4 35 grand yeah four nine oh no you got the dyads with copa nan nan nan tea and then you've
got scott in his lansar lime green for seven kickback what would we go home with that of that
lot um i think sorry guys it's a tough call great car choices i think scott is one automatically
with with being sexback because he's he's he's kept in theme um yeah i'm all about trending
so i'm trending scott who do you want to thank uh yeah just me just me for knowing what's on
trend at the moment i really like the crawler just for the record that is a lack of car for four grand
man that's a lot of car you get all the you get all the induction door noise for the four eight
yeah all the doors you know good bits in it like it's an interesting car yep so so you're
about the crawler yeah i think i would probably go to the crawler four grand chat chat's on the
roller it's grand to like fix it up that's a lot of money that's a lot of money you'd have the
best one in the country oh i reckon uh edward itv's on it wouldn't you oh absolutely oh all the
doors oh all the doors uh edward bunting i think i'm sticking with my perjo okay oh yeah that's a
solid choice solid choice it's a it's a great classic now that's an early uh it's an early
504 that's a later one oh is it later because it's got 73 or 42 i think when did they come out they
they 71 they came out okay all right so it's about a mid of early mid early ish yeah so
grand them i think until 81 here maybe 81 maybe 82 for the some of the diesels i think okay yeah
yeah yeah i think i'll i'll stick with the fiverr for ti ti you can your gorilla uh david prince
i'm gonna park the coping and i'm going to fight chat for the crawler oh okay how about a bit of
car share how about we got our halves in it two grand two grand it's it's impossible to get
to get that car yeah awesome scottie you you're sticking with the uh the the the mid say
look mine was a joke one really i did i did have a real one in there but i thought no i
i want laughs you're in trend scottie you're in trend you got it you bring me a little laughs
you're in trend um i have this urge that keeps creeping in on me of wanting a cake car
and it just keeps gnawing away at me so it's the david prince i'm locking in yours
has anyone been in a coper scott i don't think i've ever sat in a coping no i i should be fine
i'm not very tall so i should be fine in these k cars i imagine they're just a coping is like
a mx5 but even smaller yep pretty yeah pretty much uh okay so we got coping two for the roller
one for the 504 um what are you choosing i don't know uh i was gonna choose the um the
midst of ishi for a laugh but seeing as it's not on the list now i don't think i want to choose it
you gotta be for cereal here for cereal yeah i like my carola i think that's a good choice
good choice good choice so we can go through we can go three z's on it it's very sensible
so three z's that's like 1200 bucks so we can we can all do that i'm guessing it's probably sold
already actually it's cheap before grand like that's a that's a cheap car it's true you put
you put the original wheels on that and like you know give it a bit of a cut in polish and
and it would be like it would be double that you'd reckon absolutely it'd have to be it's very cheap
car thank you it is it is an outstandingly cheap so that is uh car of the week gentlemen uh it is
time for the car quiz oh the car quiz you know it is 10 questions plus a bonus question so
i wrote this the other day let's get into it so i want to get my notepad up on my computer because
and i'm off to the side so don't shenanigans yes and i so so adam's not here to complain anyway
chateau you know even if ed wants to start shenanigans or something i never start them
chat i try and end them i end things never start it i'm straight fine by the book
by the bookie he's a he's straight at society over here um so score check on the winners list
david on three ed and one everyone else he had to score so david wow just having you just having
your scott score check um bonus oh sorry bonus question first question 10 questions plus some
grand questions let's get into it question one what was the first car to feature a factory fitted
cabin air filter ed ed it was japanese and it was a nissen uh those big sedans from
like the 70s incorrect chad chad volvo 240 you're in the right ballpark but they're incorrect
okay uh david david was it a sab 900 it was a sab 900 well done
1979 was the year it came out molly uh with a cabin air filter the first car officially
to have a cabin air filter does my sab have that if it was the 90 yeah definitely where is it
it's a grant behind the block box it might actually be behind like the um
be the original one or whatever it probably probably is yeah well that's what i'm gonna check
that question number two sticking with the sab 900 so i believe me i did not know
this is a very typical message i know wow why did the bonnet go forward then go up david david
it was a safety measure that it was a pedestrian safety measure incorrect
so so the bonnet goes forward then up chad chad for serviceability not quite no but i mean it's
part of it but that's not that's not the exact answer that was given for it yeah it's correct
scott is it um so it moves forward and goes up so you've got uh so it opens up a lot higher
because it would hit the windscreen no incorrect edit bunting you own one of these honey i've done
that very thing with the bonnet today after working out four times well i'm aware of how it goes and
clamshells and does its thing um but why did they do that because it's a longitudinal motor better
accessibility bam bam think about where it's from it's from a very snowy part of the world
so so when you'd open the bonnet the snow wouldn't go on the windshield so to go forward oh wow
so is the idea like you would um you'd be dry oh you're getting your car in the morning yeah and
it's bloody minus 20 degrees and you open your bonnet so you get all the snow off it correct
yeah all that to all to just don't if you wanted to check your oil or whatever you could so it
wouldn't go all over your windshield and go everywhere and go into the engine bay and ruin
everything yeah okay now just all the way because we're on the sub theme the air filter for the
cabin is located in the air intake cowl under the hood near the windshield wipers oh like you
got to pop the bonnet and then it's it's in there you go yeah that's going to be crusty as it's
going to be like it's going to be like old and like um you don't know that that car's got every
stamp in the book it might have been changed i haven't been on it uh ed sorry 260 wow pretty good
station car yeah don't don't get me started please because like big station i will i will
actually officially end up getting divorced if i bring another car home oh yeah yeah about matt
i was just gonna say i've got a um from the 80s motor show when the when the update came out about
81 82 which is basically the same shape as what it's got um they released it i picked up a book
at the motor show and i reckon it's 40 pages and it's all about the design of the cars and it's
it's called something like perfectly conceived and correctly built or something and it just page
after page of all the safety features and all that but let's have a little read of that you i will
show you that um it's having read of that i've never forgotten it it's in the garage it's a very
very informative little book very informative when you mentioned the uh the 900 i was like whoa
that's on my there's a few questions about that on the on the on the quiz tonight on the same wavelength
got a bit of same wavelength there's no shenanigans i mean there wouldn't be anyway because you
didn't get any of the questions right but that's a question number three yeah question number three
how much i'll give closest to how much does the for some context this car has been ridiculed in
the media the last week but how much does the new Audi RS5 actually weigh i'll give closest to chat
chad isn't it like four tons or something it's not that much chad but uh it is it is heavy
Scott 2.7 2.7 says scottie ed 3.2 3.2 yep and david uh i got 2.5 2.5 so chad was that your
actual real guess no can i have a real guess no uh shenanigans chad that's a guess i'm gonna do
2.6 tons 2.6 tons it weighs more than a forward ranger it weighs 2.4 tons so the closest to it
is david prince no that's crazy that's cool is it like just way down with cement i don't know
it's ridiculous it they shouldn't a car shouldn't be that heavy question number four
what was the last car to ever roll off the australian toyota assembly line what car was it
david david i'll take a guess because i don't really know i'm gonna say it was a camry it was a
camry well done bonus question how many cars are the australian altona plant produced in
time constructing cars i'll give closest to so only the altona plant only the altona plant
is what the end is what i'm looking for chad chad 200,000 200k i don't know the parts they can try
and have a ballpark figure remember they made cars not just for australia they made it for
all uae 150,000 450k says it david and scottie i'll say 310 310,000 and david prince did someone
say 375 no they did not you can have that you can have that you're all miles off they made 3.4
million vehicles oh the closest to it was was uh edward bunting yeah you're on the out of altona
that's that's that is what i researched and that is what's come up i don't know if it's gospel but
that's what that's what i found anyway what's your pd gospel what's your pd gospel um great
war motors oh sorry what was that david all the all the taxis in dubai for years were the australian
people cameras yep uh all the all the uae cars like twitter you know cameras and stuff were
right drive over there in dubai no left hand drive left drive yeah left because yeah
question number five gwm graywall motors says in 2016 sorry 2026 will be its onslaught of the
australian market how many new and slash refreshed models are they planning on bringing to the market
this year ed ed six six says ed it's incorrect i'm gonna say eight are we going uh we'll go
closest to so six says says says um ed scottie says eight david and chad i'm gonna go 15 15 i'm
12 scottie and chad i'll split the points with your 0.5 each it is 10 new models
to the australian market they're having an onslaught they reckon bonus question
from one manufacturer that's uh that's quite a bit that's quite a lot yeah um bonus question what
is this sales target for australia in 2026 how many cars approximately are you are they gonna sell
i'll give closest to for this one in the whole year in the whole year yeah how many do they
is their aim to sell across their range david i'll go um 65 000 65 k says david prince i'm doing
100 000 100 000 says chad 35 000 35 000 says ed and scottie i'm gonna go 70 70 says scottie
get the chocolate scottie they reckon 75 000 is there is there um is there aim for for this year
that's a lot of cars in the australian market that is tons of cars so that's here as well isn't it
yes i think so is it no no denser is denser no that's byd yeah that's just that's just gw
and their their brands cover haval what's that other one uh aura yeah all those ones
question number six when sorry in what year did ford's focus get released worldwide ford's
chad so not in australia worldwide because it got released overseas first it's 2000
2000 says chad is incorrect damn ed david ed 1994 1994 is incorrect also uh david
by ed oh my god get my memory sorry good thanks uh is 2002 2002 says david prince that is also
incorrect yeah scottie 96 96 is also incorrect but i will split the points with you and chat again
it was two it was 1998 so so point five for both of you guys i'll split the points when we
get it chop it up we got it in 2002 oh geez yeah we got it all you four years later um because
we were still selling the mighty laser or the laser okay someone say better car
you might say that because the yeah the laser doesn't share anything with the focus
a like it's completely different platform yeah bonus question how many all drive versions of the
focus were released all drive all drive ed to incorrect is it i'll be talking about the first
gen focus focus how many all the drive versions did they release oh chad chad one one is correct
chad well well done they the three question yeah the third gen focus iris was the only yeah
was the only all drive one they made question number seven there's the last one before we get to
our uh questions from brochures how much i'll give closest to if you want to walk into a
misady dealership tomorrow how much would an amg g wagon c 63 or g 63 cost oh a base g 63 so
chad got in there first $380,000 380k says chad ed 450 says ed david and scottie
i'm gonna say 550 550k yeah and david all of them are ridiculous i'm gonna say 370 370
so the answer is 409,238 and 56 cents if that's your base it's your base price so
edward was at 450 chad was at 380 who's closer there i don't know it's 409 409 yeah it'd be you
yeah yeah chad's close only just just like yeah whatever dad by a thousand dollars
she actually you won by like uh 762 there you go when i went to pick up the nissan note
inside the little inside his little dealership garage factory had a g 63 in there
oof jeez i had all the carbon money yeah japanese import one g 63 it had all the carbon
fiber bits and pieces on it so imagine being able to spend them by g 63 and then going out and
buying aftermarket carbon fiber parts for it had carbon fiber bonnet and everything
bloody hell do you remember how many you found like the first three days in tokyo like everywhere
we looked oh my god they're just g wagging away they must just like not make any money on them
was like i don't know like how much are they selling them for uh yeah i mean they must be
they must be a bit cheaper or they'll have to be cheaper right like that's the address anyway
makes sense surely all right first of the questions in regards to brochures discover
the exciting style oh i'll give you a hint it's it's a 2000s car 2004 i'll give you the year 2004
styled by the italian design specialist pin and farina the blank is characterized by simplicity
and power of proportion following pin and farina's philosophy that that the front of the car is like
the face of a person the part that most expresses character much personally was embodied in this part
of the blank the results are bold lines on the engine bonnet which guide the eye to the new
is it like the holden calibre thing no it's not correct no oh david is it a day
woo oh it is it i know it i know what i know it it is a day it's a day we're like shitty
the city is correct david prince well i was gonna say espero oh would have been a good guess
would have been a good yes i remember the list that he had something about a face you know like
yeah the new corporate grill yeah yeah uh fortunately this other one's really too small
setting is a holden viva yeah yeah same car yeah that's awful all right next one yeah pin and
all right next one from 11 990
david i said it i had to sirion no david david they were matiz oh my god i couldn't even get
the it's i could even it had to be one advice yep absolutely i don't want to give it away
was the the economical yet zippy 800 cc 800 where's the sirion book a whopping one litre
i want to try to pick a harder on that that you won't get all right here we go sorry
a truly exhilarating drive with a range of powerful yet fuel efficient engines
and smooth precise transmissions the blank allows you to customize the driving experience to you
to your desire one so it's got a few dot points five dot points one virtual pivot control link
front suspension designed specifically to suit australian conditions and roads the virtual
point control link front suspension combines precise steering control and maneuverability
with excellent levels of comfort two monotube shock absorbers improve the vehicles connection
onto the road as well as providing better handling three performance brakes standard on the blank
turbo and blank turbo the larger diameter brakes feature vented discs and deliver outstanding
stopping performance for a range of stylish wheels temporary designed wheels including the optional
19 blank five spoke and 19 blank series got 10 spoke scott is this uh i'm gonna say falcon
forward falcon we're looking at g6e turbo oh yeah well done scottie absolutely
well done if that didn't give it away the next one would have given away control
blade independent rear suspension that's who's what they were known that that would have
david david's like oh yeah i would have totally got that yeah i get fg was it fg yeah fg series
yep well done why don't you say 19 blank because like because it says xr wheels or g g series
wheels so yeah so yeah that's yeah so that's the last 19 was like this is going to be quite a
modern-ish car yeah yeah 2020 that ad came out um rob would have got that he's got one of these
when you started saying like blank turbo and blank turbo and like ah okay hang on
so that is the car quiz gentlemen uh let's do a score check edwin on one
he just looks away scottie on one two three chad also on three and tonight's been on a grand
title of five is david prince well done david david rain continues the david rain like the
destruction oh you know to lead is the domination crashing down it won't be long it's just like it's
four by the way he's on four who's that a singer david rain sorry david rain david rain who's that
singer rain james rain oh james rain brother david i think he's got a brother david who's a
presenter isn't he there you go you're a presenter there you go there you go uh so david uh do you
want to score check overall um it is your birthday week i mean it is yeah yes he's on four he's on
four edwin's next on one everyone has to get the score come on gentlemen you got to do something
yeah you got to stop him he's that hsp slash pub meal's looking very good for him i don't get out
much now uh david as i always ask is there anyone you want to thank i'd like to thank um i'd like
to thank you maddie for writing such a good quiz thanks mate i i do my best to make it fair i i
car downstairs and i still don't know anything about hey now when you're at the pub and someone
says oh you know my car's got a you know i've got a kind of hinge on it i'll say yeah you're ready for
the snow you may have your lamborghini mercy you're like i'm in a smoke at the same time
cabin air filter first car with one yeah and the car that keeps the snow off and i'm taking it to
them what do you do about your lamborghini when it's snowing what do you do
you know the reason why they've got the the uh be in the middle because if the safety feature
yeah if there was someone at the driver had a medical episode of some sort you can turn the
ignition off oh that's why i thought it was some silly quirky swedish thing and it's
man well yeah yeah i'm gonna take the key out oh don't wait yeah wow yeah i'm really i really
like so much underrated car i think we should do an episode on saab absolutely never be stolen
absolutely not yeah well i i i mean yeah steve if you're listening i'm not buying a sub but i
think we should do an episode on saab because saab there's such a cool company i mean david
on it oh we could actually that's a great idea there's noises on the sub it's gonna be wipers too
oh okay all right we currently own two cars with headlight wipers you do yeah and i fitted
right once there's the one of them special um well before you say like can we please do
no noises on that car i'll make time for that car but that'd be cool my um parents used to own a
saab but not the subs that you'd like oh what was it which one was it bass it was a saab 93
okay but it was when gm took over yeah no as yeah have you said that i do like a 93
vegan i think that oh jiggins is very cool that's that's such a cool car well that's different
helladega i had the little coop the nine yeah that was the shape after this one yeah the one i hit the
kangaroo and did yeah chase gray cars well built up very good against kangaroos saab yeah i mean
yeah it's it's it's got the it's got the kangaroo uh kangaroo feature um i think we should do
an episode on flying and the car kept going yeah absolutely all right next week saab episode
we'll talk about our favorite saabs and and what happened to saab i think we'll do that next week
so we're back to jeff fire's jeff fire's you
david prince david's words of wisdom tonight i've chosen to honor pin and farina
and the day's uh day willa saidy everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it
ooh okay i don't think it applies to that right that's why i'm single david
i don't think it applies to that i just can't uh going to you start driving around your saab
you won't be mate edmund's bicep up itself what have you got ed
all right well i've sold the integra i've pretty much sold the outback that's going to my friends
so really i think all i've got is the saab and i've only just bought it so um not ready to
give me a couple of weeks to get it checked out for rodie and maybe there's a red rodie
cheap saab going it's a good station car that is and the boot is huge like if you needed a
little station car that was handy and credible cheap to run that that could be your car it's a
yeah two-door blind hatchback folding seats do the back windows pop open no they don't
they're pink i looked at that today i thought they did um i'm shown you need to put a roof box on it
make a perfect backpacker car oh magnificent oh yeah i mean i love saab they do absolutely do
in the books it's an extra um brochure of all the things you can get for that car
yeah nice it's actually a thing like it's a it's an option was an option probably the roof box yeah
as chad said the dream catcher was the other option that you could have got with that dream
saab dream catcher that would be rare it's got the full rubber mat set so front rear end boot
protecting back that's tasty very interesting i love that i love a rubber mat absolutely
scotty's got tip of the week
you know i've been tick-tocking and stuff and there was one that popped up the other day
tick-tocking yeah no i mean i keep up with the trends don't i i know he's up in the trends
he's got his six-pack car ready to go yeah i'm a tick tocker you know i can watch all the
golf tick tocks and do you watch compilations of people like crashing their golf carts or is
that just come up on my it's one recently i saw he smashed a string to like a creek going down and
slipped out went straight through the the the front part that was pretty funny yeah so the the one
i watched there's a there's a good english female on there that talks a lot about golf and it was
getting better with your 7-iron because i know i've mentioned before about how important that 7-iron
is to get comfortable with because it's one of those clubs that's there's an in-between so as
you move lower to your your six and five irons and they become well as known as a long iron and
they're a bit harder to hit so you want to comfortable with that 7-iron and she was just
saying with the stance to have the the ball just a little bit away from the the middle so a bit
closer to your to your front foot and get ready bend the knees just a little bit just a little bit
be a bit of your weight onto the balls balls of your feet is where you want some of the weight
swing back make sure you got the hips hips going yep gonna get you and you'll have a
bit more weight on the back but whatever you do do not lean backwards i repeat do not lean
backwards keep that stance it's all in the hips it's all in the hips it's all in the hips so you're
swinging that back and your back is going with it but you're not leaning backwards so you need to
keep that stance where it is and then you come down on the ball and follow through and then push out
and the more of the weight will come and transfer to the transfer to the front and then off you go
and you'll hit it and hopefully you're not going to hit behind the ball you'll hit down onto the
ball and then the divot happens after the ball i always thought the divot happened as you as you
went as you did the same thing but no that makes that makes a bit more sense yeah i used to think
that too and but no it's you you come down or hit the ball first and then straight after then
into the ground nice okay make it divots so in other words is that called the Shakira movement
like the you know the hip movement so oh that's what golf is all about yeah Shakira really keep
starting watch a bit of Shakira then go out there and play some golf absolutely whatever plays your
boat i don't know to pump the music while you're out there Shakira i love it scottie uh chance
deliveries and magna wrecking uh we're gonna do like gifx asap assades fill pump fixing yeah he's
doing it fill tank draining yep absolutely he's doing it um hit up our boy there if you need any
of those parts i mean uh david prince you might need some some parts for your for your magna
