Todd Chambliss, Merry Christmas, sir.
Merry Christmas to you. Good to be back.
And I had a great Christmas and excited about the last push for the year as all the dealers have got all this inventory.
They've got all the incentives and certainly the willing to think of the word.
They have the actual impetus to do this and they want to get these things moved.
So this is the best time for the buyer, not the seller, I would imagine.
Oh, it is. This is volume time.
This is when you throw the profit guidelines for profit goals per car.
Every dealer has them.
You got to hit so many cars and you got to make so much money per car to get an average.
And at this point in the month, at this point in the year, profit isn't going to change.
The profit picture is not going to be any different.
So now you start thinking volume because as a car dealer, you've got rivals.
You've got the factory leaning on you to sell as many cars as you can.
The goal from actually started yesterday, the goal from yesterday through New Year's Day is as many cars as you can possibly sell
and get them in and out in a hurry so you can get on to someone else.
So if you're a haggler, you want to spend three or four hours arguing over price.
Stay away from dealerships this time of year.
They do not want you right now.
Go in January.
And this probably benefits those who think they may be upside down and may have a credit issue that they're kind of thinking,
well, maybe I'm not a good candidate to get a new car.
Well, it is.
And the lenders get more lenient this time of year because they're trying to hit numbers as well.
Right.
And you know, it's just if you got a whole industry pushing at the same time, the manufacturers, the dealers,
all the way down to the salespeople, everybody's pushing to hit a goal of some kind.
And usually there's money attached to it.
So they've got all the reasons in the world to be there.
Luckily, the used car market is still sky high.
Yeah.
It's crazy.
Even this week, I watched the auction and typically that's a dead auction.
They have an auction this week?
Yeah.
Oh, didn't realize that.
But they were busy.
Yeah.
It was really super busy and cars were bringing big bucks.
They don't want to keep you there all day.
And you know, if the dealers that Jerry has, they typically don't.
But this is probably you want to get something done and a very good amount of time.
Just get this thing expeditiously done.
This is the time to go.
And I'll tell you the other thing too is dealers know business is going to slow way down in January.
They know it.
There's certain things you know in this business.
One of them is December is the biggest month of the year in January.
It's the worst month of the year.
It's absolutely true.
So, you know, they're wanting to get.
They're paying high dollar interest on those cars that are sitting on the lot.
And they'd like to get them off the lot and into people's driveways.
800-926-7777 Alan in Carrollton.
You're up first here on the car pro show.
Alan, welcome.
Hi, guys.
Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas to you, buddy.
Thanks for talking to you again.
You too, bud.
Thanks.
I'm considering a new Explorer trimmer edition.
And I was curious if you had opinions on it.
Experience.
What happened?
You know, I don't think I've had the trimmer except in the expedition.
And I really liked it.
It was it was terrific.
But I have not had the Explorer.
I've had.
I'm looking now.
I've had the expedition.
I've had the Maverick.
I've had a three quarter ton trimmer.
But I've not had the Explorer.
I will tell you, Alan, that the Explorer overall for me is one of my favorite SUVs.
And the reason is when they went back to rear wheel drive on that vehicle in 2020.
They made it larger.
There's more third row seat room.
And it just drives so good.
And they they have really kept the incentives aggressive on that thing.
So the deals are always there on an Explorer.
So, you know, I I'm sure I'll get the trimmer.
But I haven't had it yet.
So, you know, that's what you want.
Tray Russell's my buddy.
He's the general manager at five star forward in Carrollton.
And he will take amazing care of you like he has my listeners for 20 years.
How do you like it?
One of the options is to the larger engine, the twin turbo EcoBoost.
Yep.
The four hour horsepower.
What's your experience with that?
Fantastic.
It's the engine I would get.
I love the horsepower.
The gas mileage isn't bad.
Typical EcoBoost, you know, you get a lot of power when you really
really bear down on it.
But if you just drive it normal, it gets pretty good gas mileage.
But the towing capacity, everything about that that three liter twin
turbo is fantastic.
I and the reliability of it has been really good.
So no worries there.
I think you got a winner.
Cool.
It's supposed to have like a one inch lifted at an inch.
And the interior looks cool.
Yeah, it does.
And you'd be surprised what a difference that one inch lift makes
in getting in and out of that thing.
It really helps.
I talked to Trey.
I'm sure he's probably got one or two by now and he will take
really good care of you.
Thanks for the call.

It's going to be a little challenging for some.
You can probably figure out the brand or the make of the car
but as far as the year of it, you might have to go and think
about this for a bit.
And that's important to do to get the correct make model
and year of this car because on Monday
all the correct answers go into a big box.

Let's talk to Mike in Fort Worth, Texas.
Mike, welcome to the car pro show.
Thank you.
Listen to the show quite often.
Thank you, buddy.
We appreciate you.
I'm not looking at to buy.
I'm going to buy a 2026 Toyota RAV4.
Yeah.
And I've been talking to a BJ.
Yeah.
I'm concerned about a couple of things on the RAV4.
They've proven liability on transmission.
I'm a certified mechanic.
Okay.
But I mean, they can run 350, 400,000 miles on CVT
transmission.
Sure.
But the new ones from what I can find out, they've made some
modifications that CVT.
So like the hybrid, when you bought Camry's years ago, like
2010, 11, 12, they had the same training as they do now.
Yeah.
But my understanding is RAV4 is going to be different.
So I'm concerned about buying a new one for the first few
months to see what kind of bugs they have in them.
Mike, let me tell you, if we were talking about certain
other vehicles, I'd say that's valid.
And I would do the same thing.
But with Toyota, I don't worry about them.
You can't believe.
Well, I don't either.
I work on, I'm 82 years old.
Not to do, I don't work on cars.
I'm gorgeous for friends and past customers years ago.
But you can't believe the testing that Toyota does.
And they're going to, hey, they're going to stub their toe from
time to time.
We saw that in 2021 with the 3.5 dual twin turbo engine that
they put out.
They're replacing over 100,000 of those.
The four cylinder turbo also.
Yeah.
And so everybody's had troubles when they did the new
ramp-ups.
But the difference.
I actually drive a 2823 Toyota.
Now that I bought new in September of 23.
And I wanted to be six.
I didn't want the turbo.
But everybody feels different about that.
Yeah.
But the difference with Toyota and a lot of car companies is
they take care of it.
They'll figure out if there is an issue, how to fix it.
They support the dealers in helping them get your car
back on the road in a hurry.
And it's just like with these engines, with those 3.5s.
They could have sent the dealers instructions on how to fix
the engines, but no, Toyota being Toyota sent brand new
engines, complete engine assemblies right off the assembly
line to the dealers to replace them.
That's probably not that often that the happens, does it?
No, it's rare.
Yeah.
And so the dealer can get you back on the road in a day
versus a tear down and put back together that may or may not
be done properly.
And they can get you back on the road in a day.
So I would not be concerned about anything new that Toyota
does.
One, I know how they test.
And that's good enough for me.
But secondly, if they do have an issue, they'll take
care of it.
I appreciate the call, Mike.
Merry Christmas to you.
And I appreciate you listening to the show.
Our newsletter came out just a couple of days ago.
We actually, Monday, what's today?
It came out Monday.
I'm so, I'm so.
We all get turned around.
I am so turned around.
Wow.
It came out early on Monday for the holidays because I
know a lot of people read their newsletter at work.
And a lot of people are going to be off starting Tuesday.
That's true.
Same thing we got going this week.
We'll have a new addition to you this coming Monday,
maybe Tuesday, depending on, you know, how quick we can
get it out.
I'm already working on it.
But last week, I had my top car reviews of 2025,
which you guys loved.
That was the most clicked on thing.
My review of the Lexus LC500 convertible.
What a beautiful car.
You love that, but we will always have some of the
regular stuff in there, even when we do a short newsletter
like the Recalt, because that's important.
My advice column, my closing message.
It'll all be there, and you can subscribe today

in just a few days.

And we go to Long Beach, California, Patrick.
Welcome.
Thank you for holding, sir.
Merry Christmas.
Yeah, Merry Christmas to you.
I need your opinion.
I'm looking at a 2022 Ford Explorer XLT
and it's a gold certified.
And it has a 2.3-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder.
And I wanted to get your opinion on the,
if that's a good engine and if it's dependable.
It has been.
I'll tell you that.
That's the base engine in that vehicle
and quality-wise, reliability-wise,
for people who do their maintenance.
You know, it's not unusual to get 150,000 miles
out of that engine.
Sometimes I'd see them go over 200,000.
Okay.
How many miles?
It has.
I'm sorry.
The one you're looking at, how many miles are on it?
20, 24.
Oh, wow.
That's low.
24,000.
Yeah, you'd be fine.
You'd be fine there.
I'm looking for, I need leg room,
room for four people, room for four people,
and a cargo space because I'm a fly-fisher
and I carry a lot of gear.
Oh, cool.
I love that.
I've only been fly-fishing once in my life,
but it was a blast.
Yeah.
And I wasn't very good at it.
But I enjoyed watching other people catch them.
No, you'd be fine.
Put that third row seat down.
It's probably power if it's the XLT.
Just keep it folded into the floor.
You'll have a ton of cargo area.
And plenty of room in the front and the second row seat.
I was talking about it a minute ago.
When they redid it in 2020,
they lengthened the vehicle overall.
And one of the places they really put a lot of extra room
was the third row seat.
And it needed it because the old ones,
prior to 2020, third row seat was really, really tight.
So, yeah.
No, it's great.
It's certified.
It's got to be at a Ford dealer.
But if it's certified at a Ford dealer,
gold certified or blue certified, either one.
It's been gone through one of them.
One of them?
Good.
Ford dealers.
Good.
Even better.
I bought a truck for them last year
and they're very, very helpful.
Yeah.
Nick Capuzio's awesome.
Everybody loves him.
Patrick, I appreciate it.
Happy New Year to you and Merry Christmas.
Thank you so much for calling.

Welcome back to The Car Pro Show.
Jerry Reynolds is The Car Pro.
I'm Todd Chambliss.
In this week's newsletter,
it came out a little bit earlier this week.
Of course, for the holiday.
And it's going to happen again
earlier next week.
Because of New Years and New Years Even Day.
But this past week,
there was the December car buying guide.
And it's not just one little article
that talks about the end of the year,
the Tax Code 179.
All that information.
You've got,
White December is the very best month
to buy or lease.
You've got the December incentives
mentioned there.
The current trade-in value,
determination.
And just how to have a great holiday
car buying experience.
All right there.
In this week's newsletter.
Now, if you're not getting the newsletter,
you should be.
It's free.
It can be sent to you immediately.
And you can look at what the last ten,
ten editions of it.
Ten weeks.
Ten weeks.
The CarPro.com website has the link for you.
You should go there and
read up on that before you
start talking to one of Jerry Steelers
and getting that car deal going today.
Yeah.
You need to do that if you're going to do something.
I'd say anytime in the next six months,
try to pull ahead to now.
And take advantage of
not only if you're self-employed
or a business owner of any size.
Get in on that Tax Code 179.
We're going to get
tax relief from
this administration next year.
But
not much helping us in 2025.
And you've got an opportunity
if you qualify
to help yourself for 2025.
If you buy a car
by December 31st,
which is this week.
Coming up this week.
That's amazing.
Yeah.
It really is.
All right.
Let's go back to the phones
and we'll go to Houston
and talk to Greg.
Greg, welcome.
How can I help you, buddy?
Hey, good afternoon.
I had a little bit of time
on hold to mix up
slight change in my question.
I hope you can still address
the other one that has to do with private sale.
But
I'm trying to figure out
about doing the rush
into the year
for a 2026 Ram 2500 gas.
Partly because of their
extent or their
change to their warranty program
that they now offer.
Yeah.
Which needs to be capitalized on this year.
But I swear,
when you kicked off the hour,
you said this is not the time of year to haggle.
I like to haggle
and I like to get the best deal I can.
So
did I mishear you on that?
Am I better off waiting
until the start of the year
or like hurry up and get it done now?
No.
My comment was
if you want to haggle
for three or four hours,
the dealers this time of year
don't have time for that.
Okay.
But
I mean,
and look,
I love you to death, Greg,
even though we don't know each other.
I love everybody that listens to this show.
But
you can't go to one of my dealers
and get the car pro show pricing
and let that be your starting point
to negotiate.
They've already taken it.
They've already taken everything out.
All the money's gone.
Okay.
And
and you know,
I mean,
that's the way I set the system up
and that's the way it's worked for 25 years.
So
you know,
if you like to haggle
using my systems,
probably not for you.
You're going to be disappointed.
Okay.
Because you're going to get the best price
right up front.
Okay.
Yeah.
And it gets because a few weeks ago,
you said, you know, that this time year,
they're all about volume
and not so much about trying to make money.
And so maybe,
maybe I have unrealistic expectations
of what I'm going to be able to buy
one of these for.
So
maybe not.
Recheck that.
With the incentives that are out there,
if you'll,
if you'll actually use my process
by going through my website,
contacting the closest Ram dealer to you,
tell them what you're looking for.
My,
my fear for you right now
is that
dealers don't stock a lot
of three-quarter ton gas engines
because everybody wants the diesel.
And
they may have to get it from another dealer.
So,
you know, I don't want you to miss the incentives.
Now the good news is
the incentives actually run
until the 5th
of January.
So what's out there,
if they need to get you one from another dealer,
they'll have time to do that,
but it'll probably be
after the first of the year.
So if you're looking to get,
you know, if you're looking to take advantage of tax code 179
or you're wanting to write the interest off
on your taxes for 2025,
you're probably not going to be able to do that.
But you can still get,
you can still get in on these incentives
until the 5th.
Okay.
Okay.
That's very helpful.
And my original question was just,
if you got 10 seconds just,
who do I stay away from?
Who do I use for lifting
private sale of my current Ram
that I want to sell privately
because I think it's worth more
than what the trading is
as we all do.
Well, there's,
there's,
the way I would go with it is
I've got a guy that I work
very closely with.
He's not a sponsor.
I've never taken any money from him.
He does consignments
and he'll take your vehicle.
He'll tell you what he thinks it'll bring.
They'll market it.
They'll spend the money on it.
Putting it all over online
and once it sells,
they'll cut you a check.
And so if you want to go that direction,
that's the way to maximize the dollars.
That takes longer.
You can get a bid.
You can get a bid at my website,
carpro.com at the top of the page.
Just click sell a car.
They'll give you a bid
that they'll come,
write you a check and come get it.
But if you were retailing,
retail, the website is
retailmyride.com
retailmyride.com
Jim Horan's the founder of the company.
They're all over the America now.
They'll take the vehicle.
They'll market it.
They'll sell it.
You don't have people coming to your house.
They'll take a cut right off the top,
give you the net proceeds,
and you'll come out.
Typically what I've seen is
$2,000 to $2,500
better, you'll come out
if you go that direction.
It just takes longer.
Okay, cool.
Well, thank you for your forum
and your sincerity.
I mean, I really enjoy your show
and what I get from it.
Well, thank you, buddy.
I appreciate it.
I hope you and your family
have a wonderful, wonderful,
happy new year
and I hope you had a Merry Christmas
and Santa Claus was good to you.
All right.
Coming up
as a result of the Dallas show
that we had this morning,
some of you who are regulars here
know I've been dabbling with
writing songs.
Yes, you have.
I played one for you last week
which was about the GMC truck
and the dog and why the dog
never grows.
Never ages.
Yeah, you know,
I got very frustrated
when my home team
in the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys
got eliminated from the playoffs.
Again.
Yeah, again.
Yeah.
Sooner this year.
They got eliminated quicker.
They did.
And I have this
on and off
love affair with the owner of the Cowboys.
Mr. Jerry Jones, as everybody knows.
Oh, yeah.
It's mostly, it's a love-hate relationship,
but it's mostly hate.
So when they got eliminated,
I started writing a song.
I put it to music.
I let chat GPT put it to music for me.
I had three different versions of it.
I picked one.
I really like it.
I played it on the Dallas show this morning.
We're not going to play it on this show.
It's just too busy here.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But I'm going to have it in the newsletter
that comes out early next week
along with the lyrics.
And the title of it is
Mr. owner wears the winds.
And I got a feeling.
And I know Jerry Jones.
I've had dinner at his house.
Yeah.
We were friends at one time.
I got a feeling we're not anymore.
Maybe not now.
Not now.
One call to the car pro show
can make your car shopping easy.
Here's the number.
1-800-926-7777.
We're off the course of the year.
Jerry, I guess it's probably
over 100 cars that you actually go and review.
Is that fair?
Yeah.
That's right on there.
I don't do full reviews on 100.
I do full reviews on about 75.
But I drive another 25 or 30.
Right.
So you actually you're sitting in
and you put your hands on
and you're actually experiencing.
I ride 100.
And this week you've got
well a Toyota that is really interesting.
Yeah.
It's one of my favorites.
If you're looking for a three row roomy SUV
I've had the Grand Highlander all week.
And this is the limited.
Which is sort of the middle of the road.
And I love it when I get.
I don't.
Typically manufacturers send me
the top of the line
with everything in the world on it.
Oh, sure.
This one is middle of the road.
It's got leather interior.
It's got a big panoramic moonroof.
It's got some options on it.
But it's got the base four cylinder engine
with turbocharger
and an eight speed automatic.
This thing will absolutely get up and go.
Okay.
And it's good gas mileage
and coming in with a winter sticker at 58 grand.
That's not bad at all.
It's not by today's standards.
Right.
I will tell you that.
It's a very, very good buy there.
And that's the sticker price.
Let's talk to Sherri
and she's calling from near Marina del Rey.
Sherri, how can I help you kiddo?
Well, I have a decision to make
and I'm hoping you can help me.
Well, I'll do my best.
Okay.
It's between one that I test drove
and one that I did not.
I had gone to the BMW dealer
for a 2026 430.
But when I got into the car,
I couldn't see out the back window.
It must be six inches high.
So we switched to a 330
and it drove fine.
Then Mercedes has an AMG C43 sedan.
I want a car that's a bit
happier than what I have now.
I have a 2021 Lexus IS 350S Sport,
whatever the heck that means.
And it's okay.
And I just want a little bit more zip.
Well, I would tell you to go with the Mercedes then
that that C43 AMG will get up and go.
And it's a joy to drive as well.
Now, the suspension is pretty tight on it.
But if you driven the BMW,
it's the same way.
So you're obviously okay with that.
Right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I don't like a much ride.
Okay.
Then it's a good thing you got the F Sport
with that Lexus because without that,
it is a pretty soft ride.
So good job.
If I were choosing between the two
and if you were to be able to look in my garage
right this minute,
you'd see a Mercedes Benz
and you'd see a BMW.
I love both.
But for what you're talking about,
that AMG C43 is going to be a lot more enjoyable
to you as you go along.
Yeah.
They're running a special on that specific model.
Yeah.
Let's be honest.
Cars aren't moving real well.
I mean, sedans.
They're not selling.
Yeah.
And so there are deals out there,
especially this time of year
during the Mercedes winter event.
Yes.
There's deals on all the cars out there right now.
Yeah.
I do have an issue with the BMW.
I, their driver's side mirror
is too close to the car
and it blocks your vision
if you're pulling around a little island
to go into a parking spot,
you can't see it.
Oh.
I haven't noticed that with mine,
but that's why you take good test drives
so that you learn things like that
because that happened with you,
but it may not with somebody the next person.
I appreciate the call.
There are hidden costs to some cars,
but the car pro can clue you in.
Call 1-800-926-7777.
And it's happy listener time here in the car pro's show.
It's that point where we have great stories
of folks that have taken Jerry's advice
and gone through his system,
his way of buying a car
and have a great story to share about it,
like Billy who wrote in,
of course he went to Moretzkea in Fort Worth
where George Vazquez is the car pro contact
looking for a 26 KIA K5.
Says that he emailed you Jerry a few months back,
had negative equity
and needed to reduce his payment
because of medical issues.
Had to say that he had a phenomenal experience
with Moretzkea this past weekend.
The folks there including George Vazquez
were outstanding.
Said they were able to save him
a little over $600 a month
with monthly payment and insurance.
Purchased a 2026 KIA K5 G line
trading in his 24 Chevrolet Silverado High Country.
Said it's a bit of a step down
but he couldn't be happier.
A true blessing to save.
Thank you for being you.
Thank you for the car pro's show
and a wonderful thank you to
George's team all at Moretzkea, Fort Worth,
Merry Christmas to all.
Well what a sweet email.
Absolutely.
Thank you sir.
I appreciate that more than you know.
Saving lots of money there, that's for sure.
Yeah boy that's awesome.
Really boy thank you.
That made my day.
Absolutely.
You know I help a lot of people
and sometimes I hear back from them
and sometimes they just go away.
Yeah they just get the deal
and they're happy and you never hear back
but always nice when they report back what happened.
Yeah it is.
I always enjoy that and
if you want to have a great experience
all you got to do is
go to carpro.com start there
near the top where it says
find a car pro certified dealer
near you.
You may have to drive a little bit
to get the deal
but boy will it be worth it.
It's so gratifying
to leave a car dealership knowing you got
a good deal and that you had fun
doing it.
We've got two hours to go
so don't go anywhere
if the station drops you now
go to carpro.com
Hmm keep the car you have now
or go for something different.
