Welcome to The CarPro Show.
Jerry Reynolds The CarPro was in the auto industry for over 35 years
and in addition to getting his sixth win
from the Texas Auto Writers Association
for Best Radio Show in Texas,
he's a member of the Texas Radio Hall of Fame,
along with fellow members, Dan Rather and George Carlin.
His co-host, Todd Chambliss,
just became a member of Applebee's Hall of Fame
for finishing off 84 check-in nuggets
without using a dipping sauce.
Now, let's get to straight talk and honest answers
about everything automotive on The CarPro Show.
Hi there and welcome to The CarPro Show.
Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Hope it's a great one for you this year.
And we are here today helping people
make good car buying decisions
because if you make a bad one,
it's gonna cost you a whole lot of money.
And I don't wanna see that happen.
So let's make sure you have a good experience.
You can have fun and get a good deal buying a car.
And many of you are thinking to yourself,
boy, that's never happened to me.
Well, try it my way because it's been working now
for 25 years on the air.
That's how long The CarPro Show has been here.
And I have helped thousands and thousands
and thousands of people learn that it really is possible
to get a good deal be dealt with openly
and honestly, handshakes still mean something.
People will look you in the eye.
You're not gonna have to keep your hand over your billfold.
If you go to one of The CarPro Dealers at carpro.com
trust my system, it works.
And people will tell you that it works.
Especially people who have used it time and time again.
We're generational now.
I mean, I've got people that I helped early on
that now I'm helping their kids.
And in some cases, their kids and grandkids.
So, you know, there's a lot of hype.
There's a lot of car dealer ads
that talk about how great everything is.
Some of them are just ads,
but there are some really great car dealers out there.
And I think one of my strengths
is the ability to know the difference.
And if I, I have been in 25 years,
I have been put together by car dealers
probably a handful of times where they say
all the right things, they're gonna treat my listeners
this way, they're gonna price them this way,
blah, blah, blah, and they don't do it.
And they get kicked off the show and then they're mad.
Car dealers would love to be on this show.
I send them a lot of business.
They have to earn it.
Money won't buy it.
They have to earn it and they have to keep earning it.
Every time a listener goes in.
So, follow the process.
It's important that your first contact
is with the person at my website.
And again, that's carpro.com.
Todd Chambliss made it back.
I did make it back.
Good for you.
Good for me, especially.
I will tell you that one of the most important things
kind of dovetailing on what you were just talking about
is the person who is the contact person
at that dealership, you need to deal with them.
And I can't tell you how important that is.
It's not that there's warring factions
inside the dealership, but it could be somebody new,
not familiar with the way you do things.
There's always one person typically that's appointed
as the contact person, the main person you deal with.
And if you deal with them and say,
hey, you know, Jerry sent me to you.
I want to get a carpro deal.
That's the person that will roll out the red carpet
and make sure you are treated like family.
It's a great experience.
Now, most of the people there are general managers
or owners of these dealerships.
And you got to be a little bit patient with them.
They're busy people.
They're running like crazy.
I've been in car dealerships for a lot of years.
I can tell you, you can't imagine the typical day
of someone running a car dealership, what it's like.
It could be, no way.
They may have somebody call you back.
That's not them, just for the sake of your time.
Not because they're sloughing you off.
They just don't want you to wait any longer
for somebody to get a hold of you.
I always did that.
I had hundreds of people a year that came in
and said, so-and-so told me to talk to you.
You're the owner, blah, blah, blah.
Yeah, I am.
I'm gonna get somebody to take you out
and show you cars when y'all get through
and you find the car that you want, come back to me
and I'll set the price.
I mean, I'd buy to spend 10 minutes with people
when they bought a car.
And then whoever I signed them to
did the paperwork and the running and getting the car ready
and taking it to the gas station to fill it up and blah, blah,
blah.
I'm sure as an owner you're putting out fires all day long.
Oh, you don't understand the pressures from the factory.
I always constantly want to meet with you.
Oh no.
And you know, it's not an easy life.
It's rewarding, but it's not easy.
Let's talk, let's go to Houston
and talk to, I think he's misspelled this.
Raid Rajd?
Rajd.
Rajd.
Hi, Daddy.
Hi, Rajd.
What's going on, bud?
So I just want to share a great experience
we had at the Sterling McCall Hyundai.
We just bought a Hyundai there.
Yeah.
The salesperson was great
and they got it as a good deal
and they made sure they got the car we wanted.
They didn't have, but they got it for us
and they stayed till 10 o'clock at night
so we can drive home the car the same day.
Oh, that's awesome.
I love those stories.
And I've been telling people, Rajd, all month.
Start early.
Don't wait till the last week of December.
The incentives are not gonna get any better
than they are right now.
So don't put it off till the 26th.
Go now, in case, like you,
one of my dealers has to find the right car for you.
I mean, when I was in the business,
I stocked 3,000 cars constantly.
That was my number.
I wanted 3,000 new Ford's sitting out there.
And still, with 3,000 Ford's, many times
we didn't have the right one
and we got to go to another dealer to get it
and swap them one of ours for one of theirs.
And so I get what you're saying,
but I'm glad everything worked out.
I'm glad you got yourself a good deal.
I'm glad you had a good experience.
I also had, I would call you about,
we had, we got a Sonata all wheel drive.
They didn't have in Texas.
I called you a few weeks back
and we got it from Wisconsin.
It was, it went smooth too, just to follow up on that.
Well, good, glad to hear it.
Yeah, the four wheel drive,
all wheel drive Sonatas down here are not big sellers.
So finding one sometimes is an issue,
but you know, they did what I wanted them to do.
They're starting to call and they made you happy.
And as long as you're happy, brother, I'm happy
and that's all that matters.
I hope you and your family
have a wonderful holiday season, my friend.
Always let me know how I can help you.
And if I can help you, the phone number,
and I have a line open right now at 800-926-7777.

In this week's free newsletter, that comes out every Friday.
There was one of the most clicked articles
about the Trump plan that slashes
the 2031 fuel economy targets.
This was created back during the Biden era,
that for 2031, I guess the goal was to have cars
that were averaging 50.4 miles per hour.
And that's the goal of this week's free newsletter.
And it appears that we're averaging 50.4 miles per gallon.
Yeah.
Which, okay.
And that was never gonna happen anyway.
No, I mean, what are we doing right now?
I mean, you mentioned, are we in the 30s by now,
or with a number of cars, are we still not there?
Yeah, we're in the very high 20s on average.
All right.
Now, you gotta remember that that also includes
a lot of electric cars that have been sold
over the last few years.
So, you know, being the majority of those
are now not going to be sold.
And to rely on hybrids, I would imagine.
Hybrids and a lot of other technologies that's out there.
But guys, there's hype in big time
that car prices are gonna go down
because of this move to make fuel economy better.
And my experience in my lifetime,
and I've been doing this since,
I've been in the car business since I was 15 years old.
Cars don't go down in price.
They only go up.
And now what this might do, and my hope is
that it stops them from continuing to go up
that maybe they can level out now.
And-
You don't take that.
Yeah.
I mean, that's a real plus.
But I got so tickled because last year
on the car pro show before you were with me,
I had the, I'd written a letter to Jim Farley,
the CEO of Ford.
And I called him out because he was making
all this noise about how many billions of dollars
they were gonna put into electric vehicles at Ford.
And I questioned that, is that smart?
You're putting all these billions into electric cars?
Is that a smart move?
And he was kind of upset with my letter.
He had his chief communications officer
reach out to me.
I had him on the show.
And I asked the question then.
I said, what happens if Biden is not the next president
and the next president that comes in changes everything?
And they said, they won't make any difference.
It's not gonna change anything.
We're still stuck with this.
And the same Jim Farley was standing
next to the president of the United States this week
saying, this is great.
You know, common sense is back into the auto industry.
Yeah.
Holy cow.
Oh boy.
Greg, in Houston, you're up next on The Car Pro Show.
You saved me from getting on a rant.
Oh boy.
Well, good, I'm in happy Christmas
and I was hoping you could help me out.
Oh, sure, try.
I'm looking for a half ton pickup truck
extended cab and my choices are the Ford F-150
and then the GMC and Silverado.
I usually keep my vehicles about 10 years,
10 or 11 years, probably get around
around 150, 160,000 miles in that 10 year period.
What suggestion or what advice can you give me?
When you say extended cab,
do you really mean crew cab, four door, full four door?
Yeah, I'm sorry.
Okay.
My apologies.
No, people still say extended cab and super cabin,
but they're just, nobody's making them anymore
to speak of.
You know, I on a GMC myself, I love the truck.
Don't get to drive it as much as I'd like to,
but between the Chevy and the GMC,
you can kind of toss a coin.
They're essentially the same truck.
If I were gonna try to keep one for 150, 160,000 miles,
when we know for a fact that the resale value
with that many miles is gonna be, you know, not great,
I'd get the Chevrolet and the reason is
it's gonna be cheaper up front and down the road,
when you put that many miles on a truck
and you actually are using your truck,
the resale is gonna be about the same.
So why pay more for the GMC up front?
If it's strictly a personal use truck,
I'm gonna get the GMC like I did.
But if it's gonna be a work truck,
I'd go with the Chevrolet.
They've got 0% financing on their 2026s already
for December.
So I would certainly look at that
if you're gonna finance it,
plus the tax code 179 savings.
I got great dealers at carpro.com.
Okay, there's new car, used, certified, pre-owned,
or maybe leasing is the way to go.
There are lots of choices
and Jerry Reynolds, the car pro,
can help you find the right one.
Call him now at 1-800-926-7777.
And David in Spring, Texas, welcome.
What can I do for you, sir?
Hey, Jerry and Todd, how are you today?
Hey, we're doing good, man.
Merry Christmas.
Good.
Merry Christmas.
My wife and I are ready for a new car from her.
She's got a 2013 Mercedes C250 with 36,000 miles on it.
So I'm gonna go with the car.
I'm gonna go with the car.
I'm gonna go with the car.
I'm gonna go with the car.
I'm gonna go with the car.
I'm gonna go with the car.
I'm gonna go with the car.
It's made with 36,000 miles on it.
And we both think it's a little small.
It keeps her cars forever.
She doesn't get bored of them like I do.
And we like the 350.
We've had three of those.
I don't like the price tag.
We're trying to find something that would be a little bit bigger
and still have all the safety features and everything
and the look of that type of a car.
Mercedes type look.
This is this is a pretty easy one
Okay, look at the Genesis g80
Okay, and who makes the Genesis. I'm sorry that's no it's okay. It's the luxury division of Hyundai and
don't let that
Turn you to turn you off
because I'll put the g80 up against a
C-class and e-class
Mercedes
It's it's an amazing automobile the interior
the features
The way it rides the way it drives
10 years or a hundred thousand miles of warranty
Three years of concierge service where you're never going to see the dealership. They're gonna come get the car
Take it in for you bring you a loaner
swap it back for you and
It's gonna be
Roughly 20 grand cheaper than a comparable Mercedes
I'm telling you
If you can just get over the fact that Hyundai is the parent company
Like people do
Yeah
Then I'm gonna tell you that is the perfect vehicle for you
Ironically, I have a great Genesis dealer in spring
If you'll go to Genesis of spring, they're on I-45 North
Talk to Brian Amaya
Brian Amaya and drive the g80 and then I want to hear back from you
I want to I want to hear what you think because I think you and her are gonna be blown away with this car
Let's get that done while the deals are good right now
David, I appreciate the call. It's not an accident Jerry Reynolds is called the car pro for a reason call him now at

Welcome back to the car pro show with Jerry Reynolds
I'm Todd Chambliss every single week the newsletter has got some really cool stories that are called quick chefs
Some of the top stories in the auto industry along with Jerry's commentary and we talked about this on the earlier show
The the two things that were really they're kind of connected, but not exactly but they follow along the same line
It's a car day of car manufacturers doing some things that make you scratch your head
We're talking about the annoying trend number one story in modern car ownership
Subscription fees for features your car already came with yeah, which seems like a money grab to me
I'm certainly it is
and
Of all people some New York lawmakers have finally said enough to all this which I was surprised at
Yeah, you wouldn't think New York would be the one to step up to the plate no they did no
So if this all passes and everything goes the way they
Intend no more they have to pay 15 more dollars a month just to heat the seat that you already have
Sitting there in your seat, which is kind of crazy. Yeah, that that makes me angry sure and the other ad is
Stalantas so far that I'm aware of the only
car manufacturer where your Jeep Rammer Chrysler has to add pop-up ads on the infotainment screen
Yeah
So you were you are like the only one that's where I was going so apparently it's more than just them now
Yeah, it is and I'll tell you about that and next week's quick chefs. There you go
I got some interesting stuff coming up next week in the newsletter. I gotta tell you. Is that right? Oh
crazy
The one that hurt my heart. Yeah
Sweet hot little Danica Patrick boy. I heard about this. She's on the TV every time I turn it on. Yeah
And she's telling me how wonderful the endurance warranties are and I know how you feel about those things
Yeah, not so well not so good. Mm-hmm. That's why we have chase.com. Thank God for them in the chase.com
Carpra hotline. There you go, which is eight hundred nine two six
seventy-seven seventy-seven, but chase calm
they are excellent at finding the right warranty for you and
I only recommend two ways to get a warranty get it from a great dealer or
Get it from chase. Maybe Danica could be called
Maybe she'll change your mind and she'll join the chase family. Maybe that'd be nice. Yeah
How about we talked to David and he's in Houston David. Welcome. What can I do for you? Thanks?
Hey, Jerry and Todd. Thanks for your show. I really I really appreciate you buddy. That's very kind. Merry Christmas
You too my daughter is driving a Toyota Highland there with two toddlers and a stroller
And now she's having a third baby and she's gonna need more room and a bigger stroller
She can't really afford a suburban
So we were kind of thinking about a larger minivan like the Honda Odyssey or yeah, we're not sure
Just need your advice on that. I you know, I like the Odyssey a lot
I kind of prefer the Sienna from Toyota and the reason is because of their hybrid their hybrid system
It's just the best out there and the Sienna's
Sienna's all come hybrid and they all come all-wheel drive which are two features
That if I were getting a Toyota would be the two that I would insist on
They've got some
They've got some neat features nowadays, you know with the
Built-in screens in the back for the older kids so they can watch movies and they can play on their computers
And they got built-in vacuum cleaners in them now. They're really cool. I'm not a minivan guy myself
But if I were in the market for a minivan, it would it would be the Sienna, but look
Is there something between a minivan and a large SUV? No, we'd hold three car seats and a particular
I mean another Highlander would
but
You know, it's the Grand Highlander is even bigger
Then not then the Highlander and it's got a little more cargo area, but boy
I tell you up for three kids
getting them in and out
With the sliding doors and such I know some a lot of people have a stigma about
minivans and I'm one of those people I
Hate it, but the truth is there is nothing better with three kids
Yeah
That's what we're looking at. I sure appreciate it. We'll start shopping. Well, you're welcome
I've got some really good Toyota dealers at carpro.com if you'll talk to my contacts
They'll take good care of her and if you're gonna send her to one of my dealers give her a little education on what to do
I I have a lot of people that refer my dealers to people who don't listen to the show and they don't know to contact a
Particular person at each one of the dealers that are on the show
So educator just a little bit and you know
I get people who send people to my dealers that they get the carpro price and then that person says
Well, you know if you'll take 2000 off of that, I'll do it. Well
We already did that and it doesn't work that way
So educator just a little bit and it'll make the experience better for her. I appreciate the call Merry Christmas to you
Let's talk to Jennifer in Los Angeles. Hello Jennifer. What can I help you with?
Good morning, Jerry. Good morning, Todd. I am
Looking for a small SUV my husband and I we are thinking we want to move into sort of the luxury feel or luxury line
Yeah
We're interested in the hybrid versus a plug-in and your pros and cons on that
I have read your article about that on your newsletter
We tend to keep our cars forever. We're open to looking at brand new or lightly used
How many miles a year is this car gonna be driven?
Probably 12 to 15
Okay
You know, I think it and is it mostly in the in town is it mostly LA LA driving?
Yeah, I think 20 miles a day. Okay. I do think the plug-in would pay for itself
You're gonna pay a premium for it up front, but over time
When you can run 40 to 45 miles without using any gas at all I
Think it'll pay for itself and it's really good for resale value
So I would tell you that my favorite based on your description is the Lexus NX and
It's a great. It's a great SUV. I mean great SUV
It you can get it in a plug-in hybrid
It'll probably take you well over 200,000 miles without any problems at all and
The rides good the drives good love the features. I just don't think I don't think you can do any better than that
What's your chic on the NX versus like a highly
The rap for like highly appointed rap for
Huh, you know, it's it's it's all about a nicer interior. It's about more standard features
They're gonna ride and drive similar
But the the Lexus is going to be quieter inside
It's going to hold its value better
Which may not be a consideration if you're going to keep it for a really really long time
I'd look at both
And see what you think I have I've talked to a lot of people that have asked me that question and
typically
If it fits in their budget
They'll go with the Lexus
And you'll see the differences you'll see the differences in the seats and the the interior trim
And in in more than anything the features that you get on the Lexus that you're not going to be able to get on the
Rap for if you go to a rap for you won't regret it
It's awesome
And I've got really good dealers for both those at my website
So drop both before you decide both of them have good incentives right now
There's a limit how much you can learn about a car online call the car pro show to learn more
1-800-926-7777
Well in the course of a calendar year, it's uh, probably fair to say
That jerry reynolds the car pro
Goes to reviews what over a hundred vehicles easy
Maybe even more than that sometimes. Amy does another 50 or so
Absolutely
So you get all the reviews of course on the newsletter that's every single week that drops on friday
You can go to carpro.com go to the bottom and you can get the link that will
Sign you up to get that today. So with that being said this week has been a pretty interesting week reviews for you
it has
Two very different vehicles to review
I had the 2026 Nissan kicks
SUV which is great great value for the money
A lot of neat things about that kicks. I love the way it sits up. It sits up high
So the view of the road is really good visibility out of this thing is outstanding and for under $30,000
Oh, that's great. Yeah, and great gas mileage. So
The one that I really had the fun with was the Audi s5
Okay, which it's got a six-cylinder with a turbo and
Kicking up close to 400 horses
And it rides and drives great sedan
That
Just too much fun. I mean, it's rare to get sedans is a it really is
You were mentioning something about the moon roof. I think
Yeah, the moon roof could be a problem for people in places like where we are in Dallas because it's hot
But it's got a glass moon roof. It does not have a sliding cover
But the glass you can push a button and turn the glass from clear
to really dark
Now, I don't know. Yeah, I don't know if I were testing this in the middle of the summer
I might
I've seen this before
The escalade iq electric that I had
And reviewed a couple of months ago. It was the same way. Yeah, and it was hot
Now, this is an Audi. It's a whole different
