There's a professional radio. That's front wheel drive.
Have you got anyone you want to thank?
Just myself. And now I do the after hours,
gentlemen. What would you go for?
They see us in there. OK, and because it's not a super
duck, What? It is.
It's not. Automatic perfection comes in
the form of two letters A&U. Long live my Ltd.
Welcome to Car Talk. It's Tuesday.
I'm here at 94.9 Northwest FM. It's me, Mary J Online with Mr
Scuddy, though Johnson, Mr. Roberts and I, Mr Chad, The
ballot in studio with the one and only Alan Deep Singh.
How are you fellas? Good.
Thank you. Happy to be here as.
Well, good. Thank you.
Good. Thank you.
Good to see all your lovely faces Rob.
Been a while since you've been on mate, how you doing?
Good. Thank you.
Good. Good.
Yeah, just keep on missing the show for, you know, just for whatever reason, just doing other things and then doubling up on, yeah, a lot of things. You're right, mate.
Yeah, you're right. You are.
You're enjoying not seeing our faces, Rob.
That's. I missed you guys, missed the
talk. We we miss you too, Rob.
We miss you too. That that that's definitely a
big thing where we're like, I don't know what Robs the one, but good to see you mate. Scotty tough week at work.
Yeah, I mean, it has been not just this week, but for a while now, yeah. Bit tough.
Bit tough, Chad. How you doing mate?
Yeah, good. Yeah, don't.
Complain he's living the dream. And Allen, how are you doing
mate? Becoming a boss man yet or what?
No, I'm working on. Working on you working your way
up in the in the new firm. Getting there good work.
Very good. Good to see all you guys.
Let's crack on with some car updates.
Scotty Doe, we'll start with you.
Yeah, I wish I had something, but it's been too hot it.
Has been hot. It's been bloody hot.
And if it's too hot, I don't do anything.
I don't venture outside that often.
And now I saw that, 'cause I'm going to the Formula ones on Saturday, it's going to be like 37°.
So that's going to be painful, but you know, it's Formula One, so I ain't gonna miss that. I'll be there on Thursday with
the school, which will be fun. Oh, this is.
Interesting. Yeah, yeah, is.
That part of the the STEM programme that they.
Yeah, and with like the VM, the vocational major students and stuff and doing things so. It's a very cool way they do
that. And sounds like a bit of a crock
to me, Maddie. He's like, oh, yeah, we're doing
some STEM education for these kids.
You're just watching maybe like, oh, look at these cars.
Look at these cars. I'll.
Be like, oh, there's a, there's there's Max.
Hey, Max, how you doing? And they and the kids are like
these kids are a lot of kids aren't.
I mean, I don't even into. Thinking like tackle by
security. You're like, no, I'm a teacher,
you don't understand that. Will that be?
I have all access part. I'm an educator.
It's just be fangirling on the side of the side of the road, but. All the kids like Mr Janine, we
want to go home. We're hungry.
No, you're staying here till the end of the day.
No, I look. At the head of the schools, I've
scored those tickets. What was that chat?
How did the schools score those tickets?
So I think it's a programme that they do, I believe.
And they, they, they get tickets every year.
So, you know, I put, I, I never put my head up to go because like I've always got, you know, things on.
But I put my head to go this year and they're like, Oh yeah, you take car club, you can, you can go.
So I'm like, yeah, absolutely have to ask me so.
There's like, don't twist miles. Don't twist miles, you know.
So I'm heading off there on to there on Thursday.
I'll let you know how it goes. But I drove past the track
yesterday and it looked all ready to go.
Every all the roads are closed and everything, so it's ready to to get to some live action. Did you see near the start
finish line? They've painted the fencing
black. I did see that.
Though it blends in more and it's better for photography and to see and things like that for people, so.
That'll be interesting. It'll be it'll be a different
kind of vibe that I think. This doesn't.
I think that's that's. A good idea for around there,
for people with photography and that.
Absolutely not for us, not for us plebs that are around the rest of the track, but for the rich, kind of.
I can't even see the cars. Or, as I've said this, I've said
this for years. All you need is a hive vest and
like a like a lanyard and you can get in anywhere.
So I'm going to wear that. I'm going to bring my camera.
I'm going to be like, I'm pressed, I'm pressed, guys, I'm pressed like you can let me in. Yeah, I want to go up the like
camera towers, that kind of view up there that.
'D be so sick, that'd be the best.
Spot. I'm up there.
Imagine every one of the apartments, like right next on the opposite side of the Was it was it?
Is it St. Kilda Rd?
Is it the road? That's that's, yeah.
It's just trying to sleep in and you're like, it's starting again. Like I work night shift to pay
off the bloody apartment and day shift they're kind of asleep to half an hour I get. And they're not even the loud
ones. It's F3F.
Three's, yeah. Oh my God, they're loud.
Yeah, it's the best part. Was there some years ago?
They were trying to block off people's balconies so they couldn't see the track. That wouldn't surprise.
People like you're not coming to my property to block off my view, Yeah. That's impossible.
The nanny state, Victoria. Well, let's let's just move on
from that because that's that takes on a whole another tangent. But but yeah, it'll be
interesting because I made one of the teacher but last year and he's like, he's like, but he went all for three or four days and and he's like, yeah, the the F ones were the worst sending cars out of the lot. He's like, he's like the F3
Senate nuts. I think you said the same thing
last year as well, Scotty like that last year.
He's like, he's like the, he's like when the V eights were going around, he's like, he's like, they sounded good and then the F3's sounded insane so. Close to, you know, blocking my
ears. Yeah, and I'm deaf, so.
What have they got in F3's? Are they V8?
That is a. Sure, they're definitely not
turbocharged, that's why they're extra loud, but I'm not 100% sure. The F twos are very close, a bit
louder but very close sounding to the F ones.
They backfire a lot from what I noticed and watching F2.
But they're. Huge.
They got the pop and bang tunes on them, the goal fire tune, the. Goal Fire tune.
Yeah, they've got a bespoke 6 on the three and a half 3.4 litre
naturally aspirated engine Revs to 8 grand so.
Wow, that's cool. Bit of a bit of NA is always is
always the way I reckon. So straight.
Through exhaust and we'll do it. Yeah, 100% that, that they and
and I actually think they look good too.
The F3 cars, I mean the F3 cars look look sick so.
Very close racing and that between the F2's and F3's really. Cool watch.
Yeah, it's good to watch. So that there your updates
going. Yeah, that's it.
I I haven't touched the cars because, yeah, as I said, it's too hot. I don't want to go out there and
wash them. And yeah, good.
Yeah. Rob updates with you.
Well where do I start? I've been working on an E430 to
get it roadworthied and club plated.
Oh, you're keeping it? Yeah.
Well, I was going to because it's going to cost too much to get it registered for this particular guy who wanted it.
And so by the time we got lower control arms, lower ball joints, what else do I have to buy for it?
There's a few other bits and pieces, can't remember exactly.
Oh, brakes. That was a big one Brake.
Yeah. That one kind of important.
I'm not going to have someone. Yeah.
So I almost spent all this money on it.
I go, I'm not giving it away for nothing.
So my nephew goes, I'll look, I'll take it and I go look.
I'd rather give it to my nephew than someone I don't know.
So my nephew, I went and went down the club, got the roadworthy, got it all transferred to his name through the club, got him the plates and now he's got a a club car.
Awesome. Converted a a young 19 year old
into the club scene. Cool.
That's awesome. That's a cool.
Car. How good do those V8 sound in
them too? Yeah, he already wants a
straight Piper. He wants the DVD.
Look, you know, all due care, no responsibility.
From now on, you've got the car. If it blows up or you do
anything to it, it's your problem.
It's a rob's all one of those concrete warranty off the concrete, no warranty. Let's see.
It that's right off the Cochrane, no warranty but yeah I've got a cross drill, slotted ventilator brakes.
The brake mob out in Campbellfield are real good.
They actually do full brake kits for C60 threes for about 2200.
Dollars. I've heard about these guys.
Yeah. What are they called?
Brake something, Hearts. Yeah, yeah, I've got his
details, if I'll maybe share it later.
A lot cheaper than than Mercedes benzo that's that's for sure.
And he's using the Genuine Heads OEM company pads but hasn't got the Mercedes slogo on it. Yeah, nice.
No, so yeah, got that done. What else I do So I I took the
E3, the sorry the the 300 SC out for a drive one weekend.
I didn't really didn't do much else for any other car really, but was a 430 mainly, Yeah, yeah.
Nice. Yeah.
Oh, very good. Well, I'm, I'm glad that car's
back on the road And. And.
Yeah, solid and good to go. Solid and good to go.
Yeah, great. LMD.
This has four wheels, so I think it counts.
I I bought a new lawn mower on Sunday.
Oh jeez. OK, And in TrueCar fan fashion,
I bought a petrol lawn mower Goodman.
I'm not going to buy that battery powered crap.
I have battery powered tools. Don't get me wrong, I have some
rogue stuff. I have some Tool Pro stuff, but
I can very quickly go down the servo, get 10 litres of petrol and get my lawn mower going again.
I'm not going to sit around charging, you know, and that's kind of the the thing that pushed me towards petrol powered model. You see the ones with the?
With the like the the the full 240 Volt cable, like they're, they're constantly moving it. I'm like if you if you go over
it, you're killing yourself. You.
You I. Like I I've seen something
again, what's the point there? Lord, they didn't have a decent
extension cable on it either. Like it was like just one of the
inside indoor ones or the white ones.
It's a, it's a, it's a mystery one.
Yeah. From a reject shop.
Yeah. And I was like, that's, I mean,
that's a choice. It's a choice.
It's a choice. But.
Life is a choice, not perfect, isn't it I?
I'm gonna, I'm gonna do a I'm gonna lay it all out, you see.
So for the last nearly 20 years, I've been suffering with this Victor lawnmower that my old man purchased.
Everything on this lawnmower bar, the motor is broken.
So you know how like, you know, you can fold the handlebars over. Yeah, the little nut things to
those snapped off. OK, we've J rigged those
together. The actual catcher, it was like
a canvasy catcher, the bottom ripped out of it so I don't have to sow a sack of that. And so it kind of stretches as
it fills with grass. So the catcher doesn't get full,
but it starts spinning our grass.
The catcher's only half full, the actual engine idle and speed control. My uncle snapped the bloody
thing off. Such as high reps.
Yeah, so then the cable went missing, so you literally have to move your finger to near the exhaust and you have to push that your thumb right in right next to the exhaust when you want to turn it off because it won't turn off otherwise.
You can pull the spark plug, but I'm not doing that like that.
Just yeah, the height control still works that I'll give it that. And I've been suffering with
these. Conditions.
Conditions for probably the last 15 or the 20 years we've had it, I think the very first thing to go was the actual catcher and then there's all downhill from there and.
Sounds like it still works good. Alan, why'd you?
Replace it. Let's take the motor out and put
in. Put in like a go Kart.
Or something. Yeah, we might do that.
So it it's been a long suffering.
How's it? Yeah, it has.
So because my, my old man was overseas and if he saw me go to Bunnings, he'd tell me to return.
Otherwise, that's, that was my whole plan.
I'm like, I'll get it now and then.
My God was the lawn mowing so easy.
Like look, it's one thing to be like a dad and be like, I bought this and we're keeping it forever.
When you paid good money for something, I'm 90% sure he bought the cheapest 1 he could. And you know, it fell apart from
that point on. Like I said, Briggs and Stratton
motor, you know. Yeah, reliable.
They're good. Reliable everything else dog
shit. So you know, my solution was you
know, I'm buying my first long mower.
So I'll buy ones, cry once and I'll pay something reasonable.
I wasn't going to go the whole Honda and spend $1100.
I'm like that's above my pay grade with.
Vt. Yeah, I know.
But this one was about I think 570 and with the Allen rule of no paying full price, I took good old Mac Christian to Bunnings with me, got his 5% discount.
So, you know, that's saved about 30 bucks.
Is it still a breezing Strat? Yeah, so it's a, it's a mass
sport, but it's got a Briggs and Stratton motor.
Yeah, good. And the the catcher has a
lifetime warranty does. It Yeah.
And it's made out of HDPE rather than no.
Sucks. Yeah, Yeah, exactly.
It was like the the old one. Yeah.
It's A2 Blade. This is A4 Blade.
And it's got a few extra, you know, features.
But it was a considerable difference.
Like I was not fighting and beating myself up, like nearly burning my thumb off every single time I need to, you know, empty the catcher out. So yeah, like, I, I had quite a
good time. And I told my old man, you know,
as he, he gave me the upset smile of like, you gone and done it, did you? And I was like, tell you what,
if you want to use your lawn mower, you can buy all you can.
You can, you know, you leave my lawn mower that I bought with my own money and you can use your lawn mower to mow the lawn.
And when I'm mowing, I'll use my lawn mower.
You'll see how easy you do. Like, yeah, give us your lawn.
Is it self repelled? No, it's not self repelled.
Oh, man, yeah. Ripcord.
Yeah. Recording.
Like, no, you actually get ones that you hold them to this little squeezy thing and the lawnmower goes forward for you.
Oh. Yeah, no, I've got one of that.
Yeah, my dad's gone and he broke it.
Yes, so I'm a real man. I push my own lawnmower.
I'm not real enough to actually just use those bloody slight things that, you know, that's completely analogue.
I'm, you know, somewhere in the middle.
Yeah, but like, I've got a nice petrol lawnmower and I'm going to look after it. And one day my kids are going to
be like, please, Dad, get let us get another one and be like, no, when you earn your money and I shall be the band of my kids existence because generational trauma, you know, people will pass it on. I talk.
Yeah, I talk about 100% is what it's all about.
Back in my days. Back in my days we only had two
players on our on. Our walk barefoot school up
uphill both ways in the. Took me took me 6 days to get to
school in four days home. So yeah, that's been my 4
Wheeling adventures, A happy new lawnmower on Sunday.
Gave the lawnmower on the Saturday, sorry, the Monday.
I've been going back in time. Yeah, and very happy with it.
And hopefully they'll be years ahead of Nice.
Happy boring, yeah. Yeah, very.
Good, I still think we should make.
Plugging away with a 2 stroke. Yeah.
Oh, you're a 2 stroke? He was a real manly.
You are a real man. I've got.
I've got to pass it off over here.
Yeah, and you know what? One pull, start straight away.
Bang and you know he's all about the Revs.
High Revs mate. 2 stroke. He's hacking up a lung at the
end of it. Absolutely.
It's worthwhile. You know, the outer casing is
got like has been eaten away with some rust and stuff, but that engine keeps on going. I changed the blades and that
and it's all good. Yeah, happy days, Scotty, Happy
days. Because I was like 02 stroke.
I've never used a 2 stroke before.
You know, putting way too much oil in it, in the mixture, It's just like. Yeah, just like sitting there
just pumping away. Because all mixing got it was
like, Nah, just half and half. Half and half by 5050 mix.
Can't blow it up. It was 50.
Speaking of which, the the lawn mower didn't come pre oiled.
I just came with assembly Lube I'm assuming yeah.
So I did go down to my local super cheap got some new lawn 10W30 semi synthetic. That's what was advised.
I was looking for 10:40 just because I'm like in the off chance I operated on like a 43° day, even though there'd be a fire band most likely yeah, most likely.
I wouldn't mind the X prediction, but I couldn't really find it. Everything was like 5 W 40 and I
was like, yeah, I'll just go to 10:30.
At least it's got oil in it. Exactly.
No, I like it, Alan. Yeah, good update.
I like it. I like it a little more.
Update. Yeah, that's a good update.
We'll call it the manly man's update.
Chad updates with you, my friend.
So you've had an interesting week.
Yeah, still not as interesting as Alan's ongoing experience.
Yeah, I I did a bunch of car stuff on the weekend.
I went and helped a mate play around on his Dihata ferosa so.
Cool. So cool.
So we messed around on that for a bit and took her for a little joyride on the on the property. Private property can't come
after us. Mexico, obviously, I.
Had I had no, no coolant hoses, it was just we were just topping up with water into the straight into the engine, go for a little spin just to make sure everything was working like it was going through the gears and, you know, high, low and all that stuff. And yeah, tinker on that for a
bit. I drove the Toronto around
pretty much all day so I did a pretty big drive like from here to Cranbourne South and then Cranbourne S to like Clayton from there to Glen Iris. So like around a fair bit yeah.
And then on the way back home, I'm just about going through the tunnel and just happened to gaze up and down onto the like into the dash. And so the temperature was like
starting to climb. And I'm like, oh, that's, that's
something. And yeah, so I just thought
hopefully if I get out of the tunnel, I might, might straighten out or not right. And it just kept going up.
And I was like, I've got to pull off.
And I just pulled off at Montague St, went down like a side street in Docklands. And I thought I'm definitely
going to blow the head if I just keep driving at home.
So I just, I took advantage of my many years of paid roadside assist and I got a tower home just because I didn't run at risk, you know, doing ahead on that car.
So yeah, I'm not sure too sure why it's happening.
I thought I'd fix the problem, which was like a radiator cap, but I'm guessing it's something else now.
Could be more powerful thermostat yeah, I think it's more likely that it's a thermostat.
I, I, I did a radiator flush no longer.
And I definitely know it's there's no blockage in there because I got poured water in the from the top and it comes out of the bottom and yeah, just all of a sudden it just, it was doing it and then it stopped for quite a while and then it just all of a sudden started again and.
I'm going to call my my mechanic for you tomorrow.
Yeah, I was going to remind you today.
I forgot about it too. So I'll we'll see what what they
say and I'll get it towed in to get it looked up.
Yeah, sounds good. So what else did I do?
Just wash the cars yesterday after the sun went down and it was a bit cooler? Yeah, just my car, the I-30 and
my wife's car. Man, that was about it.
That's that's all the car stuff, yeah.
Nice. Well this with me.
I've had a busy couple of weeks. Actually this week in particular
was was was a bit busy. So my housemate, who now has
taken full control of of the laser the that's named Norma because Steph obviously has her Forester has always wanted Apple car play in in her car because she's you know, she's one of those Apple users, Alan. What you jealous of the best?
No, it's it's not the best. It isn't the best.
It's it's. Just some overpriced stuff that
does work. Mediocre.
See It works with what it works with though.
I've lost half my listen to base down.
When you get your Airpods connecting directly from your iPhone straight to your Mac, you know it's a good time.
It is pretty good, I'll pay. That I wouldn't pay the extra
hundreds of dollars for it, but unfortunately, so you know, it is what it is. She's been wanting this because
like hers got like it's full grand grandma spec her her car she's been wanting 1 you know, to put in and it's had the original head unit. I was like.
Is the original unit A tape deck or is?
No, it's a CD player. CD player, yeah.
GLXI, thank you very much. Oh fancy top of top of this top
of the range before you get to the back.
Absolutely you should. So a person came in is super
cheap and had bought a, you know, a Sony unit and it said it's not the connection to my reverse camera is not working.
It's not working, it's not working.
I bought it yesterday. I want it back.
I want to I want to try another one.
And I'm like, normally we have to send it away for warranty, but I was like, look, you know, because it happened yesterday.
Are you sure you wired it properly?
Is like, yeah, look, my other unit had it's exactly the same.
I just want to plug it in and nothing happened.
I'm like, OK, swap it over and I said to throw it out.
So I was like, do we send it back to him?
And my boss was like, well, we can, what we can do is we can, you know, we can, if you're not using it, can we can just sell it. I'm like, how much?
So I managed to get it for a for an OK price and she was happy with that. I installed it into her car and
that was good. And now she's she's got that.
But as soon as I've done that, the air conditioning in her car has now gone. So she's like, well, I'm going
to be driving the car in the 45° heat at this point.
It's been bloody hot. So, so she'll be driving most
likely my, my Laser or, or the Forester, you know, just to get around until her car gets fixed. So, so her car will be booked in
at some point. But yeah, that that'll, that'll
be sorted because that's, it's been a really, really good car.
The Forester got its shoes back, which looked awesome.
Did you pick him up or no? We.
Sent one of the other boys. Okay, so, so they generously
went over to wheel solutions. Thank you a bit of a plug to
them because they've been they've been they've always looked after me and done a good job on all the wheels that I've sent there picked them up and I didn't expect them to do the full paint. I just want them to skim the
edge. But they full repaint repaired,
scanned it done and, you know, painted it and they and they look awesome, like you can't even tell.
So I was really, really rap with that.
So they painted the edges, put them back in the car.
My God, what a difference it makes with that gutter rush.
Like it had like different colours of yellow where my sister said like yellow, you know, things and it was it was they were mounted, but much better.
So they're on the car. Happy wife, happy life.
Is that what they say? Is that?
Is that the is that the Yeah, I believe absolutely.
So, Chad said Agree. It's so yeah, absolutely.
So that is. I thought it was a miserable
wife and she takes your life. Yeah, that's that is also.
That is also Jesus. OK, that got dark.
As long as she doesn't get miserable, you know you'll be right, fellas. It got dark really quick.
So yeah, that's that's done. But it I've got I've ordered the
KM sensors for it. It's only one of them's gone,
but I thought I'd order two. Got them cheap from work.
They, you know, Subaru want drug money for them.
So I ordered some good NGK ones which are Japanese made anyway.
So I'll put that in it at some point next week and once I have time. So yeah, that'll that'll be done
with that. I'm trying to think what else,
what else I'll be doing the Fiesta heaps because it's you know, it's reliable, it works and I think that is pretty much it on my car updates. Gentlemen, now I want to talk to
you guys about what is going on in Australia currently in the world to be fair with with the Kia boys.
So we all we've talked about the Kia boys before, but in particular car thefts in Australia have gone gone nuts.
It's, it's just gone absolutely insane.
The reason why I'm talking about this is because I've had numerous people come in a super cheap and ask and I just want to tell you this guys, I am a trendsetter.
You guys all laughed at me for this especially.
Was it you that laughed about my club lock addiction?
No, I don't laugh about it. I just complained about.
It complained about it. You know, I some of us have to
undo that club lock everyday work on a car that you know should be parked at home. Just saying.
Alan, Dave, I am a trendsetter and because of these reasons, there is now a glow or a prepared Australian shortage of, of club locks because everyone's trying to buy them because people are people are stealing their cars.
And I had a guy come in on, on Sunday when I was working and he has got a brand new Toyota Hilux and it had, it's already been stolen. It's probably, I mean brand new.
I mean like brand new. So yeah, well, that's what we're
about to talk about. They, you know how that happens.
We'll get to that in in in a second.
So they stole it, especially as we know, took the car and joyrided and then basically, yeah, they found it dumped, which he's one of the lucky ones because it's not a BF Commodore and it's been stripped for parts and rebirth.
So he came in, he's like as I come after club lock, I've been everywhere. Have you guys got home?
Like so I showed him the aisle. I'm like, we're clearly empty.
Like there's there's nothing. He's like fire and he's like,
I'm trying everywhere to get. It we're going to Aliexpress
some in and then start selling 100.
Percent we do. 100% we do Cartel club locks.
Cartel Club. Guaranteed to work while they
last. Patent pending on those no so
people are going to to those links and I, here I am I'm like, well, I've been doing this for years and everyone everyone, everyone laughed at me. So now the reason why I'm
bringing this up is because people you know, people are getting desperate and and I was speaking to the guy and he and he was really nice, the guy that had his car stolen and he's like, look, it's hard out there for people like they're losing their jobs. Money's not as easy to come by.
How how are you going to get money now?
I'm still stealing cars. So what they're actually doing
is I think you can buy from Aliexpress and online, you can buy these little OBD boxes that you plug into your OBD port scrambles it, scrambles the OBD and pretend it's the key and then you can start the car. So as as in the SIM, in the
simplest terms, that's how that's how they kind of work.
Now they're also using different, different techniques as well. So they're using like remote
control radars. So like they're scanning your
house to get the, to get the key to get inside the inside the car like because because the keys transmit the a you know, a signal, right? So for a lot of these cars that
are that are like especially like the, you know, the cars that are a little bit older, they're constantly transmitting.
Whereas with the new keys, for example, with my Fiesta key, it will transmit when the keys moving and when it's still for more than like 30 seconds, it it stops transmitting as a safety measure because people, because people are stealing, stealing the, you know, keys that way. So they're going around the
house like like there's, there's, there's videos a lot of them. And then they're, you know, just
scanning all over and then they get it, bang it straight into the car and unlock. They, they work their magic.
So, especially with the VS what they're doing is they're going under the guard, cutting the cutting the alarm for so so when you open the door that that don't, you know, doesn't go off and basically hopping in starting the car with the OBD thing and off it goes to to be chopped up or to be rebirthed into, you know, a million other cars.
So that is the long and the short of it.
Now there's some cars that are really easy to do it too, you know, new range Rovers, VVF Commodores or VFS in particular.
They've they've been running rampant with those, you know, like Hilux is clear, like, but anything new with like a, you know, a push button, start transmitting, you know, key.
It's your your fair game to to these people.
Now that is a big issue because most cars these days, if not, I think all cars for sale like except bar a few, you know, with a, with a push button start and now we also push button that's, that's, that's really fancy and cool.
But now the issues are starting to arise.
So nobody's safe. So people like, well, we need to
get other, other ways to to stop this from happening.
Club locks, disc locks, all the all, you know, all the above and it's, and it's becoming a real, real issue.
There's there are people taking matters into their own hands, which we'll, which we'll cover very shortly.
But I want to think in your opinion, gentlemen, on the on, on how, on if you've heard anyone's cars getting so on the you and what you, what's your take on this whole situation?
Is it because like the, the theft rate is going through the roof, By the way, before we could start, We're also joined by Mr Edward Bunting. How are you, Mr Bunting?
Good evening all. Yes, very well.
I do apologise for being late, but the reason I was like, I think you'll all agree was I was picking up a new old Mercedes Benz so. Very good.
You know that I feel like that's, you know, if I'm, if I'm ever going to be late for a reason, picking up a new old Benz is a very good reason. Tell us about this Benz Edward,
before we start. 1981 W 123280 E.
A very nice. Signal red with the cream MB
techs factory roof, factory alloys.
Oh nice, the bunt alloys. It's the bunt alloys, yeah.
Very good old appos. Previous owner had it for a good
40 years, so sort of since the very early 80s.
It was it was a demo model apparently.
So yeah, nice old car, and this Sunday happens to be the Mercedes Benz Concourse or Show and Shine Down at Cruden Palm.
You go on, Rob. Rob's nodding.
Yeah, I'm planning on going, Yeah.
Yeah, I'm going to go. And I thought, well, I'll take
this car because my others aren't in town.
This one is and it's, yeah, it presents really well.
So I thought, well, I'm not going to enter it in the concourse, so I was just going to go to the show and shine.
But yeah, that's a that's a Sunday thing.
Chad, you should bring your Benz.
Yeah, with no paint and 3/4 of rusted panels I.
Think that's great? It's good to show all aspects of
Benz. I can tow it in on a tow truck
and yeah. I'm sure that's what crude and
farm would. Love, you know, You know what
the slogan would be. Look at the potential.
Yeah. Exactly.
Look at the patina. That's what it could be.
Yeah, exactly right. So anyway, that's fine.
Just on the car theft thing, though, the friends of mine have got a, you know, one of those bags where you can't, you know, you put your keys in the the bag and it's the scanning happening.
Is that a, is that? Yeah.
Yeah, absolutely. Yeah.
RFID blocker, yeah. Yeah.
So that's one solution because are you saying Matt that your Fiesta when the keys on your bedside table not moving, it's not transmitting therefore? Like it stops, it stops, you
can't. Scan that.
Yeah, it's a it's a it's a new safety kind of key that that they brought in with because on on the on the previous view like on the on the earlier, earlier ones, they were doing it.
So for the new one, they updated it.
Yeah, right. Which is but that.
Must know a lot of newish cars. I assume it.
It's, it has to be, yeah. How do you find out if your
car's a constant transmitter or a or a not?
That is a great I'd probably look at look it online, check, check the, you know, check the forums and check the, you know, check the Facebook pages like, hey, is my car a constant transmitting key? Or if not, and if it is just you
use a, you know, RFID box, pop it in there and you should be.
You should be. Otherwise, they've just got a
break in your house and physically get the key.
Physically get the key. They still do, but absolutely I
read. That you would.
Absolutely so well, it's, it's not just it's not just, you know, like comments and stuff like BMW's, you know, I'm reading when Mr Cameron drove his BMW to work that day and aware that these are hijacked his driver profile, which which attracted his movements. I slept on Saturday night right
at the back as as he as the car was driving out of the, you know, on the on his driveway. So like they waited to see on
the map where I was all through the day.
So like waited for me to come home and come back the next night. So then they, then they got it
again. So it's, it's insane how like
you'll take it back and I'll come back and steal it again.
It's a really, really, it's a bit of a big issue, you know, and there's a few things you can do to, to kind of, you know, prevent, we'll try and prevent. But you know, if someone wants
your card, you know, they're going to get it, aren't they?
But do you think technology wise, we've gone to the point now where it's everything's so computerised that it's just, it's becoming super easy just to steal cars.
And that's, and that's now and, and you know, companies are realising crap, this is way easy.
Did you think that's, that's had a massive effect?
Because like, I haven't had car thefts like this in, in the news for years. Like it's just, it's just gone
nuts. Yeah, like there's a product you
can basically buy from Aliexpress, I think it's called Flipper Zero. I think it's, it's not car
related. It's more you can basically
break into anyone's Wi-Fi, any sort of thing.
You can break into phones. Basically it's, it's very, very
like cheap and very powerful if you know what you're doing.
Like the, the level of technology, if somebody wants your information, like you said, they're gonna get it.
Yeah, it's, it's very, very tough.
And you know, because we do a movie show, you know, and then check out, you know, the Tuesday review at six PMS.
Good plug. Good plug.
One of the films, June, basically all based on the books, the technology has advanced so far that combat is now done basically really analogly just with hand to hand weapons because everyone's got such a good technology that the technology trumps itself. So everyone goes back to hand to
hand combat. And like that's kind of what
we're now doing in cars. You're going back to the
analogue methods. You're going to have your
steering locks, your bollards, that sort of stuff.
That's what's kind of kind of protect you because key in ignition, the digital stuff doesn't doesn't do it anymore.
Yeah. I just drive cars that are so
old that. Nobody wants a.
No one wants to seal them. And B, yeah, totally analogue.
Just buy a manual. Yeah, buy a manual.
Exactly, you can't like my manual Swift perfect no one will touch. It's funny, I was watching a
video in the US, this guy, this guy got carjacked.
He was hopping into his car into a WRX and these these two guys pulled him out of the car. Went to went to drive it and
realised it was a manual I've. Seen that?
Yeah. But you know, at work, right?
And you know, I'm going to talk about this because he, this guy's going to be, he's going to be SV6 manual.
And last was the last week of the week before he's doing night fill out super cheap and he just hears a car alarm.
Golf. He's like, that sounds like my
car alarm. And he walks outside and there's
people inside his car trying to steal it and it's going out and he's OK. And he says I was right.
And then they just bolted across Pascavale Road and didn't even look 4 lanes bang. And, you know, off they went.
So, so he's, he's like, he's like, they got in pretty easily.
And then now we're just about there.
But he's like, they didn't cut the, the alarm.
He's like, if they were cut the alarm, my car would be gone by now. So it is, you know, like they're
getting in super quick. Range Rovers are probably one of
the easiest cars to get into, which does not surprise me in the slightest because they're an electronic nightmare.
But the, you know, the fact that it's happening to, to no cars kind of safe at this point. And, and car theft's always been
a thing like, like, let's, let's not, let's not, you know, put.
Put I remember in the early 90s or late 90s, I think it was the Hyundai XL was the number one was #1 selling car, but it was also the number one most stolen car that was so easy to steal.
And then part way through that production of that 3990 driveway, they, they made the immobiliser standard, which did, you know, greatly reduce the ship, the thefts.
Yeah. But I told, I told my, my dad, I
don't know how we had our XF Fairmont stolen.
And I'm like, I don't know how they stole it.
You couldn't get into the car in the 1st place.
So the handles kept breaking. But they still, they still
managed to, they still managed to steal it.
So but you know, if, if you want to get into something, you'll get into it. Now, Scotty, you know, have you,
you've obviously had a car, you know, it's taken from you and, and they took it within like a completely different way.
Like they, they said, well, we can't break it.
We'll just take it on a, on a bloody tow truck.
You know, it is the worst feeling in the world.
Like it is actually like you feel invaded, you feel, you know, disgusted. And it just, it just makes you
like so many, so many things are through your head.
Where, where could it be? You know, what would you do now
differently? Like with like, because your car
was, was an analogue car, you know, a key, you know, you had, you know, obviously immobiliser and everything.
Yeah. What, what made you, what, what
would you do differently this time around?
Like if you were to if you were to have a GDR.
I think the best way to go is to have trackers in it.
You know, you, you can get them cheap.
You can get them cheap now. Back then you couldn't and they
weren't as reliable. So it was more of like, hey,
your car's roughly in this area at this point in time.
But now you can be a lot more precise and you can actually see it moving along. You don't see many, I guess car
alarms sold. I think it was a big brand back
then. Viper was a big brand.
I don't think you've seen many of those sold anymore because you can get around them now. They're not as protective.
I think the ones where you start being able to use apps on your phone to start your car and all that kind of stuff, that's scary, yeah. Yeah.
Is it you know, wouldn't it have having an app because you can turn it off as well? Yeah, but it depends.
Like, can you OK, so like I had AI had a, a tracker in one of my cars years ago and the person that installed it said, I'm not going to install the turn off feature because they could be in a lot of traffic. And if something happens and you
switch it off and they, they collect the family of kids or something, I don't want to be responsible for it.
So you refuse to you refuse to wire that into the into the fuel pump. And I'm like, OK, so, so then
what's the point of it? You can still just track them,
but you know at the end of that like turning it off, like yes you can turn it off on the app, but if the car is running with the key in it, I'm not too sure if you still can turn it off.
Is that a possibility? I don't think that, yeah, I
don't think you can turn off the car as it's going OK.
You can have like a, you know, you can do a kill switch on your alarm as well. Like it's a like a feature,
right? So you can have a kill switch
enabled on the alarm. Everything can be connected.
It's just the the switch will turn off power to the fuel pump or power to the ignition or something like that.
So but now once, once the car is going, it's kind of that's it.
It's going. You can track it, yeah, but you
won't be able to like remotely switch it off.
I know the the Brent's alarms that the WRX has had at least my 03. It was a if it the car thought
is you will hijacked. Yeah, it would started the
engine a couple of times to let you know that it was going to shut off. So it assumes that if you're a
thief, you're like on a cars doing something funny, better pull over. Once you pull over, it shuts it
off. And so that would be kind of
your situation where you can't get it started again.
But that's also pretty archaic. And you know, today's society
like given how much things are advanced.
Yeah. So the implications of obviously
you turning off the car in traffic.
And possibly being responsible for an accident is, Yeah, it's quite difficult to deal with. I think I agree with Scotty.
I'm like having as many trackers as you can because, you know, again, Apple products aren't cheap, but Air tags, Air tags, yeah, they're not terribly expensive.
For. For.
Yeah, Yeah, I've already just got one in the STI.
As soon as, you know, it's out of the house, I know it's out of the house. Yeah.
And yeah, you can like basically pinch.
Like Geo fences and stuff like that.
You can. OK, cool.
We're not like you can say, hey, don't warn me if I'm outside of this area. So if like let's say I take it
to work and I take it to home, I can say don't detect at work, don't detect at home. But as soon as it leaves home
and I'm not with it, or if it leaves work and I'm not with it again, it's like, hey, the car's on the move or whatever.
And as long as somebody else has got a phone, which most thieves would have a phone, it's basically going to use like, you know, well, backpack on their dental network and then let you know where they are. And then having more than one,
as well as pretty handy, especially if you put on somewhere really hard to find. If they're gonna look for it,
they're gonna have to stop the car.
Yeah, that gives you time to get there or police to get there, that sort of thing. But also, like, all of them have
got jammers now too. Yeah.
So, so they're jamming signals from coming from that car.
It's always an arms race. So it's, you know, they're
always one step ahead at this point, right?
Really. I would say if they've got
something like that, then they've been scoping you out for a bit and they really want it. Yeah, I think what you're trying
to deter is. Opportunistic.
Opportunist. Opportunist, you know, the ones
that might break into your house and keys or just kind of see it as an opportunity to take it. You know, if they look inside
your car and notice that you've got a club lock on it and things like that, they're going to be less inclined to have a go.
Don't you just give? It a club lock with your foot,
you've got boom and it just snaps.
Oh, well, I've got a big like mine are quite thick and, and, and they're not they're they're they're kind of square tubing, you know, like like they're, they're quite, you know, they're quite strong. But but then yeah, again too,
you know, it's, it's the, the fact that they are, that's that extra step that they got to take to, to get into the car.
So that's, that's an issue. It's it's mainly like, I think
the opportunist Steve's at this point in time are really how would you explain it trying to get in, you know, like for example, my with with that I, I, I work with the VA opportunity for like, like there and, you know, run across fully traffic when, when he got when he got caught out.
But I think one of my BG issues is with this whole thing is how accessible this stuff is to do like the the jammers, the signal receivers, the, you know, OBD plugs and stuff that you anybody you and I could buy it. Yeah, you know, and, and it's,
it's terrifying. It this is probably, you know,
again, going to get a bit dark, but even getting lock picking equipment, you can buy it on Amazon.
So like the locks we have just on our doors at home, they're not really protecting us all that well.
It there's all kind of relies on society being a decent society.
And I mean, like, you know what, it's not OK to steal everyone's stuff. It's not OK to break in people's
houses. And when you kind of get that, I
guess devolving a society where people start doing that and the punishments just aren't there. So there's no, there's no real
kind of reason to not do it. It's kind of where you're
encouraging this behaviour almost and allowing people to be like, you know what, I'll steal a car, don't worry, I'll be out on bail by the evening to steal another car.
Well, if you're on the road, you get, you get slept in the road, yeah. That's and that's what happens.
There are kids literally stealing cars and then.
Going out and doing it again that same night that.
Same night. Yeah.
And it's just like, well, what do we do, you know?
When I was in high school one of my mates got picked up in a car around this area where we are in the studio and he didn't realise that the car was picked up was stolen by a guy.
The guy driving stole the car they got, they got arrested and basically found out that he steals a car every day, pretty much every night, stealing a car.
So it's. And they can't do anything about
it. Like, oh, bad boy, that's a slap
on the wrist. Off you go.
And yeah, we'll we'll see you tomorrow night when we catch you stealing our next car. You know, it's it's it's it
makes sense why there's vigilantes out there now.
Yeah. Like, and a bit of a bit of his
vigilante justice like. Like Scotty, you and I were
talking before the show about the was it the brothers, 11 brothers you got stolen. And they had enough people
stealing their stuff. So they they chased them,
crashed into the Ute skull, dragged the the guy out of the car and beat the living crap out of him like.
Yeah, I sent you the link. I found it.
Yeah, it's that is basically 215 year old alleged car thieves are recovering from the injuries after the vehicle they are accused of stealing was rammed by another motorist in in Browns Plains. The teenagers were dragged from
the wreckage and assaulted by the passengers inside.
The other Ute So. But the issue is those people
who, who you know, who did the vigilante bit of justice, they're the ones that are going to cop it.
Yeah. Which just makes no sense to me.
Like, look, it's it's very difficult to ever support vigilante justice because just by the nature of it, you never know are you necessarily doing the right thing.
But I think now that we're no longer live on air, we can say it's a symptom of fuck around and find out.
Yeah. And unfortunately, people are
finding out. If the authorities aren't
stepping in, yeah, then obviously the people are going to take matters into their hands.
Somebody will get killed. Some people have gotten killed
already over over car theft. So, you know, the person loses
their life, a family loses a family member, the family got robbed or let potentially lose a person to gaol, you know, and it's all because I think we as a Royal Society kind of have one really like dropped the ball on making sure people, you know, see the effects of their crime. Yeah, absolutely.
Well, I really want to get Mr Turbo Terry on for this episode, but he's. Ausafa.
Ausafa But hey Anthony, how you doing?
But he's. Yeah, I chased a guy down at 150
on. That was one of the roads I.
Forgot the name. Yeah, the.
Greensboro Highway, The. Greasy hallway, but he's he's
partners. I think I think they're about to
have a child. So yeah.
So yeah, good good luck to you guys.
It's exciting. But the you know the stuff that
he that he tells me and and things like it's it makes sense why there's vigilante justice. Yeah, you know, it's, but again,
you know, you do you vigilante, just like those two people thought didn't probably couldn't even see who, who stole the car, just pulled them out, didn't realise they were 15 and underage beat the living, you know, crap, you know, out of them. And at the end of the day,
they're probably ones getting getting in trouble all the beating up, beating up a minor and they, they, they, they won't ever get a working with children's check because they've beat, they've beat the crap out of these two kids.
Yeah, you know, you know what I'm saying?
Like there's no, there's no kind of, you know, like even it's for the, for the. Crime because the the idea of
like, oh, well, you should have insurance and your car insurance will make you whole. No, insurance never makes you
whole. Like there are very few
circumstances where they can where they will allegedly buy you a new car. That's assuming you can get the
same car, correct. Well, even if you want the new
car, you might not want it. Like if insurance was to say I
will get you a new direct. So I'm like, no, I don't want
don't want an STISTI. Yeah, and I want my STI.
Yeah. You know, are you going to
replace it with one that's got less than 15,000 KS on it?
You're not, you're not. It's always that kind of
trouble, how you're going to find the exact same vehicle.
You're not. So ideally you just want to make
sure yours doesn't get stolen. And then you you want it back.
Yeah, that's that's the other question too, likes.
Have been molested. Well, a mate of mine had his
Toyota Oreon stolen and it was an Oreon.
It was a nice suspect 1 and everything and they found it.
It was, it wasn't good Nick, but then they opened the door and there was all syringes over the back seat and stuff.
And he's like, he's like, I've got, I've got young kids.
He's like, I loved, he's like, I loved that car.
Like he bought it. He bought it with like 2000 KS
on it, put 200,000 KS on it because he loved it that much.
They stole it out of his driveway.
He woke up together to go to work when they, I used to work with him. He's like, Yep, the car's gone.
He's he's like it hurt. He's like, it's like, I was
like, I don't love cars. He's not really into cars, but
he's like, I loved that car because it was so good.
It was never had an issue. And as soon as I saw the, the
syringes and all the crap on the backseat, he's like, no, I'm not taking the risk. I've got a young kid and he's
like, it killed me to to say goodbye to it because he's like, I'm never going to get it because he's like, that car was so good for me. I'm you know, I'm going to have
to go buy a car. Being convenient to buying a
car. He's, he's like, oh, he could.
Have done, Matt. Tell me.
Just replace the rear seats, go to A record, get receipts out of different Orient, doesn't matter.
He could have, He could have. I am.
That's bolting Bolt out. Bolting bolt out.
You know, bolting bolt out, that's the matter.
You just don't know, Edward. You just don't know.
Feeling of knowing some drop kick Drago and that's been in there. Yeah, I agree with that.
Like it'd be hard. Like if there's something
special, I'd be like, OK, you guys buddy, going through my car with a fine tooth comb. I'm going to get it back once
you've cleaned it. But you know, he was just like,
I just I'll go, I'll go, you know, get myself another car.
But again, it's, yeah, it's, it doesn't fit the crime, right.
For example, a mate of mine who I work with is Kevin, a great, great guy. He, he, he grew up all over the
world because because of his parents, you know what they did for work? And he lived in Saudi Arabia for
a while and he's like to be in the 80s.
They were no late 70s, early, yeah, late 70s, early 80s.
They were driving to go buy a rug because his mum wanted a rug. Anyway, they're getting to the
location and they see on a, on a sign, like a hand cut off, nailed to the sign. Thieves will be punished.
Anyway. He's like, he's like, I remember
a lot like Dale, my dad turned around to me because I was sitting in the back seat. He's like, you're not getting
out of the car. You know, he's, you're staying,
you're staying in here because he's like, I remember sitting in that car with the air con on him for three hours waiting for my dad to come back while I was shopping for a bloody rug.
But, you know, they leave jewellery shops and stuff open at night, you know, because would you want your hand cut off? Oh God, no.
Yeah, because it's it's you know, they're all testament there, man. Like it's it's full on.
So it's, I just feel like the crimes are like the, the the punishment doesn't fit the crime for, for a lot of it there's you know, and it's look, in the grand scheme of things, it's not a big issue. It's not like a thing thing of
national security, but in the same token, these are people's livelihoods. You know, some people, some
people love their cars. Some people, this is what they
this is all I have. Some people need it.
They form a transport. So, you know, if you're, if you,
let's say you're disabled or something and you need that car for an emergency, you go out. Oh, my son's having a fit, go
take him out to the car. Oh, crap, the car's gone.
You know, it's there needs to be a stronger punishment for something like that. Because to be honest with you,
it's kind of bullshit now how how it is.
But I think it is turning into national security because a lot of them now are taking them for joy rides.
Yeah. And they don't owners.
So what are they doing? They're just thrashing them.
And then there was one just recently on the news going fast through rural area, and they actually rolled it, you know, and just down the road playing not too far away with kids, kids playing. So you can just see exactly what
could have happened. They crashed it.
They rolled it. And what do they do?
They're jumping out of the car trying to run off.
Yeah, they were only like 1415 years old.
They caught them. What happens?
They're back on the streets again like that.
And so many of them have not just been bailed once.
It's twice 3 * 4 * 5 times filing up because they're still waiting to get them into court and they just keep bailing them, keep getting bail all the time. I mean when is there enough?
Like how many times do you need to get bailed before they're like no he's going to re offend again?
Like why is it not sinking into their heads?
Like if they have an accident and actually hurt someone, like you said, or possibly kill someone, it's like, what's what's the situation then? Like you have.
Yeah. Like you as a society have said,
hey, this kid, you know, has a potential future, so we're not going to take that away. But now they've taken away
somebody else's future. Someone else's life.
Yeah, like they've taken it all the way.
So what's the recourse to that person?
Like they weren't doing anything wrong.
They were just minding their own business trying to live a, you know, law abiding life. And you know, some kids come
through at 120 kilometres an hour in a 40 zone cleans you up.
Yeah, yeah, there are only 14 and 15 and have no clue how to drive. Yeah.
So what? What were you saying, Rob?
Just before there's? Probably another level of theft
as well too, maybe more of the luxury cars where people were sort of go out to steal specific cars and.
Those. Yeah, a lot more professional
about the thing. Porsche kinds are frequently
done so they can do, what do you call it, cigarette shop burnings. They're like the car of choice
for some reason. Yeah, yeah, yeah, 5 by shootings
and all sorts of things that day.
So there's there's that other part of it as well.
But seeing some of the the YouTube videos in England, the car thieves over there are next level.
They've got trackers on them and they're and everything like that. They're supposed to be back in
their house for a certain time and they're out stealing cars during daylight now because they're not.
They're allowed out at night, so what's going to stop them?
My favourite thing about the UK was they made, they passed a law where cops were allowed to ram guys on bikes because a lot of the thieves were running away on bikes because they knew that cops couldn't, you know, they couldn't ram them because of the safety thing. But they just passed like, you
know what? Ram Yeah.
Yeah, yeah. I think it's Jeremy Clark.
They'll say you know what, if you see a guy in a bike, just ram them anyway just to make sure.
Yeah, did. You hear?
Do you know the ankle bracelets? Why we can't have them in
Victoria? Did you hear what happened?
No is. That because of the schools.
They, I don't know. No, no, no, no, not that one.
I know what you're talking about with that one with the ankle bracelets. The company that the government
was using for them went bankrupt.
So and they went. To watch and know what else
makes them. So they weren't being tracked.
This company's gone bankrupt, the government didn't know.
So all these people are meant to have trackers are just out and about. No one's watching them,
nothing's working. I thought that was your job.
Jim, that's something. Wrong.
I thought it was different. The first part about that is
probably the company's probably gone bankrupt.
Hey, hello. But there's probably a check
they. Won't know there's.
Probably a payment sent to that company or somebody from that company still for the actual, you know, the work.
Yeah, Yep. Yeah, government contracts,
licence to steal. And just to think, that's why we
can't even do ankle bracelets like something that is easy as that because the company used somehow went bankrupt.
Yeah, you get, we get to the front.
You get to the edge of your front lawn and it's meant to get beep, beep, beep, and it's like it's not doing anything not.
Doing now. I'm going to go out to the
street now. Another step, another step.
Next thing you know, you're inside somebody's car that doesn't belong to. I've done 180 KS an hour.
So government weren't told and then obviously police had no clue about it either. So correct, an idiot.
I feel like the officer just says, hey Molly, aren't you supposed to be at home? What else there is?
Well see, it's easier to rebirth a car now than than it ever has been ever has been. Buy the the printing set that
you print your chassis VIN numbers into the metalwork.
You can buy a portable one. Oh my God.
It'll print it into your dash, into your dash, and it'll print it into your chassis, identical to what you see in the factory and what's like what they were doing.
Is. Cars that were taken out of
England to another country don't actually clone that car back in England. Well.
So never reported stolen and they they go on and sell it.
How's that? So I can see some of that stuff
starting to happen over here as well.
They'll start getting smarter. Well.
We were seeing some cars with Victorian rego plates ending up in like different parts of the world.
Yeah. You know, like during that,
during that Merc with Victoria plates, it was like stolen from oh. Yes it was stolen from like
somewhere around virus. Brat, I think it'd.
Be nice and it ended up with its black and white a red plates on it in some backwater overseas and it's like how has this managed to get where it's got with Victoria plates still bolted to it listed as stolen. See, I think I think there's
connection with with people at certain areas of of our Marini areas. I should see that that they've
got here's 100 bucks. Just keep your mouth shut and
and let this car go through and they're all somehow ending up in in was was a country that loves Mercedes for some reason there was a Bosnia or. Albania.
Albania. Oh, there you go.
Yeah, it's just like they're all ending up there from all over the world. At least it wasn't the Hilux
that ended up in Isis's hands with with the logos fill on it I think. The plumber did.
Did you guys see that it was it was a highlights, but it was like a big gun ball to the back of it and they still got the Australian like companies livery on the side of the car.
It's like far out. Oh man.
But anyway. Got no chance.
So I'll read you this. Horns have emerged as the prime
target of a car thieves. This is from news.com with new
new new methods to swipe vehicles without any of the keys. Basically they're targeting
Commodores mainly as equals 0, you know, push start rides.
Victoria police issued a warning on Thursday saying that the trainers in coincide with electronic devices have a programming or mimicking keys that are becoming more available. These on board devices.
Obds diagnostics are being used in one in five car thefts these days. Well, that's as far as they
know. So basically, so that's the
they're the most, they're the most common one.
They're also stealing Hiluxes, lane cruises, Camrys, Prados, rough fours, 86's CHRS, which Toyotas are a big, big thing.
Subarus, same period. So yeah, it's, it's, it's an
interesting, you know, kind of thing, but anything with with push button starts are really getting, getting stolen.
So the common makes of the largest percentage of increase in thefts are Kia's, Jeeps, Azus, Land Rovers and Volkswagens over the last few years.
So yeah, they're big companies, big, big, you know, doing, you know, selling lots of cars, big high volume cars and they're all getting nicked. Now my last question is to you.
What do you guys recommend to our listeners to stop potential thieving? What are the things that you
guys do? So we mentioned trackers, we
mentioned club logs. What are some other things that
you would do? Car.
I don't own a car, Yeah. You don't own one.
Car's still where you don't know.
I just put it in the garage, put the keys in one of those bag things or a safe. What else would you put?
Bollards. If I had a very valuable car, I
would put bollards, absolutely. Yeah, a friend of mine does have
bollards in front of his Ferrari.
Yeah. Makes sense, yeah.
That car's worth. Yeah, $500 bollard.
Yeah. Exactly.
Other than that, like we said before, just drive.
Drive a manual drivers. Drive a car that no one wants to
seal. This is the reason I drive.
I drive a laser every day, Edward.
Yeah, you're pretty safe with the laser, my Swift.
Pretty safe. Yeah.
I've got to get one of them wheel clamps that like the sheriff's use. Parking up the car.
In car. Park another car in COVID.
I remember during COVID remember I had that Lancer Evo 6.
You did, yeah. For a time and and I also had a
Honda Civic that I bought at the same time, like a that was a manual. So I put the manual Civic was
the first one in the garage and then the Evo was behind that.
So I thought, well, they've really got to go some effort to get this bloody Evo. You know, gotta get the manual
certificate out of the way. So yes, thankfully that didn't
go missing. Well, so you're parking behind
other cars. That's a good thing.
Bollards you've. Got another?
Car driving a manual And what about you Rob?
What is some of your some of your ideas?
IBD lock that. You can buy them now too so you
can lock them up. Keep your keys at the back of
your house if you haven't got any RF blockers or whatever you want to. Call them.
Yeah, good idea. So that's not a good idea.
Just keep it at the back. Yeah.
Split your keys up. Don't leave them in the one
spot. Put them all over the house.
Or but then you might feel, you know, but that's what I reckon you're rather than leaving your keys at your door.
Yeah, spread them out and put them down towards the back of your house. Good deterrent, you know,
baseball bat. Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
No, I completely I agree with you.
I've got a breaker bar. I've got a sleeping knife.
We. We had a.
Under a pillow our. Area had a spate of basically
home raids, break insurance, stealing car keys from the house some some years ago now and the police actually knocked on the door to say to look, you know, just make sure you keep your keys or what you know secured because there's been a lot of home raids. Please knock on the door.
Rob rocks up with the bat. He's like, what do you want?
Do you want? I thought he was going to say
Rob. They were knocking on the door
saying mate, you've got all the cars out in the front of your house, where are these? Coming from OK, you've got some
pretty nice, She's got some pretty nice cars out in the driveway. You should lock them up.
I said no, my nice cars are locked up.
They're the crap ones. They're the crap.
They're the crap. They're the crap ones.
What did they suggest you do with your keys?
Like you know where? Where's safe?
Yeah, other than inner safe. Yeah, just separate from all,
you have a set of keys, so they're not all in the one place. So they're not grabbing a whole
bunch of keys. They're only, you know, if they
do grab one, they only grab one key, a number of cars.
But that's probably not a bad idea.
I've got my van. What I should do is park my van
in front of my other three cars. Yeah, great.
Which would be a lot of cars in the garage that way, find the van key and they have to get the van out of the way to try to get to try and get any other car. So.
Do that. Yeah, one thing I've kind of
thought about is if your car's going to be pretty much off the road for a very long time, having it on Jack stands is just taking the wheels off. It's like they're going to find
a set of wheels first that's gonna put them on.
My skyline was like that for a while, but to make it like even more safer from stealing it had no gearbox in it.
It's. Good, take the gearbox out.
That's a really good one, yeah. Yeah, no hope.
Yeah, bring your own. If you've got a distributor cap,
just take the rotor button and that out.
That'll yeah. If your car doesn't have an
immobiliser, get an immobiliser put in it.
So my MR2 has got an immobiliser in it.
So if when you when you got to start the car it it gives you know fuel pump until you get the immobiliser which is don't.
Leave things visible inside the car.
Good one. Any value, even if even if it's
a charger or something. Don't have a charger, a car
charger, a mobile phone charger or something invisible sight because they're going to assume that maybe you've left something in a glove box or something of value.
So do that. I remember the whole thing of,
well, I guess it's not important now, but because people don't have them now, but GPSS, they used to look for the suction.
Yeah. Yeah, they did.
They must have a GPS, but I don't think anyone uses those anymore. You just burn so that.
Was an easy break in quick steal that if you're not stealing the car you make a couple 100 bucks. Yep.
And if you can from your home, you should have like one of these or something that works pretty well.
Oh. Yeah, that that would work.
A man's knife. Chad, what would you recommend?
What I did with my Sylvia when I first got it because the the doors wouldn't lock like none of the key bars were both stuck so just. As chassis things.
Just as chassis things, yeah, I couldn't.
Yeah, just. So what I did was I bought a
quick release for my steering wheel.
It was the first thing I did. Yeah.
Nice, every time I parked it anywhere or I even at home I would just take the steering wheel off and take it inside with me. So, Chad, you did the Mr. Bean
thing do? You have the Mr. Bean thing?
Yeah. Mr Bean's car get installed.
Yeah, I can see it. And he's like, where's the
secret? Yeah.
If you want to go full Mr. Bean, he'd have like the latch and the
padlock outside I. Think that was my Yeah, if I
didn't get an alarm installed, that was going to be my next thing. Just put a plug in, put a little
like gate latch on it, you know, And then the other thing I used to do was, yeah, take the the the lead, the main lead out of the distributor. Yeah, that way, yeah.
You just you got no spark club lock can't get past the club lock. They just I have one in every
shitty car I have so. But if you take.
The steering wheel off, you can't put a club lock on because that goes on. Well, you know, it's like if you
if you can do one or the other basically.
Yeah, but used to be also when I found out you the the quick release hubs that you can buy, you can even buy a lock for that. You just get a little thing that
goes over the top of that as a key in it.
So even if you both bring your own steering wheel, you're not getting it on there. So just, yeah, just deterrent
really. I mean, this is for old cars,
newer cars, yeah, it's going to be harder.
I still think a club lock though.
A. Club lock will I think will
deter pretty much anybody, even on new cars stay.
Tuned to her patented Car Talk club lock.
It's going but red and white and with a nice logo on there.
Bit of exactly, yeah. Yeah, nice.
Yeah. But yeah, I think, I think I
think they're all really, really good, good things, especially because light up taking Gearbox out.
That's a good one. Scotty.
Mr. Bean, lock your, your, your front doors, Chad.
Yeah, yeah. You can't get in so.
I remember when his colleague is driven by a tank and he goes and unlocks the door. Yeah, he pushes like an
equivalent car out of the way. Just that's my spot, yeah.
That was good. That's great.
It was good. Yeah.
So, yeah, there's a there's, there's, there's things you can do definitely bollards. Like I know a lot of people that
are using, they're putting bollards in the owl like which is, you know, it's cheap insurance really it's, it's I think a really good way of doing it.
So I recommend, highly recommend putting bollards.
One for me is if you're leaving, if no one's at the house, take your car keys with you. And if you, if you're leaving
cars at home, so when they're going through your house, can't find the car keys, like, oh crap, Well, what are we going to do? At least you know you're taking
them with you. They can ransack your house and
can't find your car keys, but they might be waiting for you when you get home. So give us the keys.
But it'll be at least make their, their job a little bit harder. So they, they won't, they won't
have to do that. So take them with you trackers
keep, keep, keep a tracker in there.
If you if you put one, maybe put 22 Apple Air tags.
Yeah, two, then I'll find. One of a different brand or
something? Yeah, yeah. 1% issue with Air
tags is if you've got like an Android phone or even an Apple phone, I think it tells you if there's something new, yeah.
But if you've got it like somewhere in the chassis trail or something, yeah, good luck finding that in a timely manner.
Not upset, I completely. In the meantime, it'll just be
because they can make a beep. There are secret ways that you
RIP the speaker out of it. Oh, really?
Which take completion because obviously it's based on anti stalking. Yeah, privacy matters.
But even if it's beeping, like I said, if you throw it deep in somewhere, Oh yeah, you just assume it's, it's like a one time use item. I'm sorry.
You know, you're golden. Like they're not going to find
it. They'll be able to pull it out.
Absolutely any from you before we move on.
No. Any from the old country, as you
would say. Oh, the old country.
No, I've got nothing. Nothing extravagant.
Park a Buffalo in front of your car.
Gotta get the buffer out the way.
Yeah, I think, I think we've come up with some really good Car Talk top tips here, guys. Club locks, steering steering
removal kits, steering lock kits.
I saw one guy put a with an extreme measure just to protect his governments. He bolted in a plate in the
front in the front in front of the piddle box and then basically locked it in. So you get to unlock the bolt
and it was don't do like you don't have to do it if they're if they're going to get your car, they're going to get your car. But but IBTIBD blockers like the
the actual things to go in the ports are, I think really cool.
Also, it's really cool a fake OBDOBD ports.
Yeah. So you can, you can hide the
other one up in the dash somewhere and then have that one hanging hanging through through when they're trying to get into you. Like why is that not working
that you know save some time? One quick one, and this isn't
like the simplest thing to do, but park your bloody cars in the garage. Yeah, the amount of people I've
seen that have turned their garage into like, you know, a man cave or whatever. It's like, all right, look, you
utilise your space, but it's, it's a car hole as MO would say, you know, put your car in there. Mr French man.
Yeah, not all of us can have car holes if.
You've got a car hole. Put in the car hole, you know.
Car hole. So was that Ed Scotty's got a
car hole? He does, yeah.
But it was just funny, yeah. Usually.
People, they turn him into like extra rooms.
Extra. Rooms and stuff.
It's like, look, it's your house to do what you want with, but you know, then you lose your car hole like where you gonna put the car in the driveway? Yeah, it's easily stolen.
My look. Sorry, design of homes.
There should be one massive car hole in a little bedroom that's.
That's all you need. That's all you need.
Yeah. Yeah.
Well, I think we're all nodding our heads into grants.
The other one I want to say is there is this is the exact reason to have a cheapy crappy car as a runabout, a runabout car, you know, that you take to the shops, you know, that you don't care about. So that that is exactly the this
is this is the thing. But see also, I think, you know,
as much as I love my my Typhoon and stuff, I, I hate taking it out like I honestly do. And it's not for the reason of,
you know, fuels expensive and, you know, whatever.
It's more for the fact of like I, you know, I've been followed home in that car before, you know, like it's, it's, it makes owning it not fun. So yeah, I don't know, like
there's been, that's probably the one reason why I want to sell that car is because it's because of those reasons.
I'm like, it's, it's, it's not worth your life, your car at the end of the day. I'll buy your 20 grand.
We can talk after. This I know what you got. 31.
So before the R31 Scotty done deal, but yeah, just.
You heard this. He's gonna just play it back to
me now. But yeah, that's the perfect
reason why you should, you should keep like a nuggety crappy daily that, yeah, nobody knows.
And there's so many, so many people with really nice cars drive, you know, Hyundai Excels and Toyota Corollas and Ford Lasers because because you know, this exact reason, you know, you know, I mean, like this is this is the reason why.
This is exactly the reason why. So yeah, be very vigilant.
Don't park, park your car in quite lit areas as well.
If you're going to park your car, if you have to go somewhere and it has to be, you know, be left alone for a bit, you know, if there's cameras and stuff, just just it gives people less, less chances to to steal, to steal it.
So there's some Car Talk, top tips, anything else before we move to the quiz? John Scotty Doe is our quiz
master today. Thank you Scotty because I've
been stuck at work today. I've had I've had a busy, busy
few weeks. So it's Scottys quiz.
He's done an interesting 1. So Scotty was what is your quiz
based on? Unusual car names, and these
ones all stem from Japan. There's some bonus questions in
there too. Some of them are going to seem
hard, but I'm going to throw some clues in there to help out too. Because sounds good.
Some obscure ones and I'm like, what the hell?
I don't know how good you are, those obscure ones.
So this is the Castle Clock quiz Scooby Doo.
You are free to take it away whenever you like.
All righty question #1 Mazda had a car called the Mazda Carroll.
Later they released a special edition called the Carol Me What, Ed. Ed.
Carol me Christmas. No, that'll be pretty good.
Carol, me. Carol Matthew.
Yes, that's it. Carol me home.
Nope. OK.
So the special edition of the Carol.
Yep. Oh.
God, Carol me coffee. Carol, me Coffee.
This is Rob. So Chad and Alamar, last to last
to go. I don't think I've ever I've
ever heard of that. I've heard of a Carol.
But I've heard of a Carol. Yeah.
You know the next bit. I've got no idea.
Carol, Me familiar. No it.
Wasn't Mazda familiar though it? Wasn't Mazda familiar?
Chatted you out. Yeah, I got none.
We're all out, sweetie. All out.
As it goes further on, I'll give you more clues and stuff.
Oh, OK. Should we are we all back in for
another guess or? Yeah, I'll, I'll do it for this
one. OK, so is there another?
Question. What I want you to do is think
about the name Carol, all right? And it's connected to Matthew,
what the name could be. Yes, Matthew.
Shall we? No.
Oh. That's a good guess.
Alan Yes. Is it the Carol Me line?
No. Start with an L though.
Oh. Is.
It Dick Scott or is this an actual thing?
Actual thing. It's only something stupid
because of Japanese. Are we all that guys?
Yeah. Already, I guess Karami luxury.
It's weird. It's called the Carol me lady.
Oh. My God, what?
Oh. God.
Name Carol and Shelby are like you 2 girl names call me lady.
Call me lady score check everybody on zero there's.
Scotty on one, Scotty on one. That moves to the bonus
question. It's got nothing to do with the
names or anything, but who made this car for Mazda and what model was it based off of? Wouldn't Mazda have made it for
Mazda? I got it from another company
and that company is in Japan. Rob, I got it from Oh, sorry.
Rob, right. No.
Callum Callum. It was made by Nissan.
It was based on the Fair Lady. No.
Ed. Yes, Sir, it.
Was made by Toyota. No.
Chad Oh, I guess AutoZone. They didn't come from them, but
they did Autozone's, the one that actually made the special edition in the first place. Oh, the colony lady.
Yeah. OK.
Yeah. It's.
A cast, I think of who makes a nice little.
Matthew. Matthew I want.
To say Suzuki. Yes.
Oh, Suzuki. Suzuki Which?
Suzuki, do you think so? You get one point.
I'll give you another point if you can think of which one.
Matthew. Yeah.
The. Alto, yes, spot on.
There it is. Yep.
So it's based off the Suzuki Alto?
I've never heard of this Nissan, the Nissan Torano.
Yep, I've heard of them. Yep, so the Nissan Torano.
They released one with a funky looking body kit and it was called the Regular Star. What?
Jeez. Regular damn what?
What would go well with Star? Because I know they have.
I don't Nissan have highway star on all their old grands so they use the word star like Rob. Starlight.
No, I like your thinking. Oh yeah, cool.
No, not Starlight. Great thinking.
Matthew. Yeah.
Invasion. Starvation.
Yeah, Nah, I don't. Know.
So it was a Torano, it was a regular star.
That's one of the additions. * Watson What?
We'll call them Star Waggon. Not star Waggon.
A good guess, better than vacation.
Starlight is top notch. I like Starlight Rob that that
is a good guess. Is it star struck?
No. Bunting, I think it's I think
it's up to you is. It the Torano star.
Fire nailed it. Oh.
Really. Oh.
Wow, what a guess. Yep.
Yep, Yep, Wow *5. Four, It's *54.
It's *54. That's what I'm thinking.
Yeah, wow, what a guess. Beautiful.
Holden came in clutch for you there, Edward Bunting.
Really. Well, good job number 3.
Daihatsu, as we all know, released the mirror.
That's not all. They also released the Daihatsu
mirror. What?
Oh. I've heard of this, is it like
Ed? That's like like.
Miracento or something like that and it's the one that like looks like a mini or something. Is it that?
Not quite. You're a Fiori Miracento Mira.
Yeah, that's like. 8 guesses. It's shenanigans.
For one. Hey Ed, I'm going to give
everyone a clue. This one I want you to think
about something that can be used as a food and it can also be used in a drink. Scotty, does it start with G by
any chance? OK.
Well, that's what I'm going to say.
Mira Gino. Gino yeah, that's what I was
thinking, yeah. Yeah.
But no OK, let that. Then there is that that gets rid
of that but. Not that then.
It's important ingredient that goes into something sweet.
Milo Mira. Milo, Mira.
Milo. Mira Milo.
Mira Nesque at this point. Chocolate.
Scotty, is it Mira Ice? Nah.
Oh good, good one, Mira. Ice, ice, baby.
I give it to Rob here at the moment, but oh.
OK. He's keep Rob's closest, OK?
I can guess he has a mirror milk.
Nah. Mirror Cream.
Nah. Mirror Coco.
Yes. I'll get Rob, I'll give Rob .5
and I'll take. Yeah, I think that's fair.
What was Rob's guess? Chocolate.
And it was, yeah, very, very close.
It was just the ingredient that goes into it.
All right. Which one was this one?
Oh, yeah, this one was interesting.
So Mitsubishi had the Mitsubishi Canter.
Have we heard the Mitsubishi Canter?
And then they released another one called the Mitsubishi Canter Watch. Matthew.
Matthew. Was the Fuso canter No.
Oh, the Mitsubishi Canter Sport. It's got the backlight.
It's like the Majuro Sport. It's.
Got the fins off the Evo. Head.
Ed. Mitsubishi Canter Plus.
No, that's what I was going to say.
Most of these are obscure, so I'm going to bring you all back in and give you a clue. Yep, sounds good.
So it's a cryptic clue. OK.
So it's like the Mitsubishi Canter intestines?
What Matthew Gut guts? Yeah, what?
Guts, guts, guts. Guts Chad, were you going to say
the same thing? I was going to say Guts.
Yeah, I'll. Give you .5 as well, Chad,
because like I think we went in the same time well.
What a weird name. My bonus question for this one
is what makes the guts different to the regular canter?
Rob. Rob.
Engine capacity. Yeah, I'll give you that one.
Yeah, well. Makes sense?
There, there was a couple, but but The thing is, it's it's less. Oh, so it's like a base or like
a skeleton or something? The guts doesn't even carry as
much. So it's gutless.
Gutless. Yeah, it's gutless.
I was going to say. It's just.
Bizarre. It doesn't.
It can't carry as much. It's smaller, it can't carry as
many people. I was going to say is it is it
is it smells like shit because it's guts.
Is that is that the only reason? It's it's a bit different, but.
When I first looked at it, I thought, OK, you got the canter off your sleeve. Yeah, and all the canter guts.
Oh, it must be a bigger version, Carrie Moore or something like that. That opposite does everything
less. So funny, so stupid, you said.
Blueberries in them, didn't they?
They did the fools off. Yeah, yeah, I remember that.
Squeezy. Yeah.
Hopefully your Spanish is good. Mazda went Spanish and called
the car the Mazda Laputa. What does that translate?
Into they called that. No way.
I believe it's the whore. Yeah, it is.
Well, did they actually call a car that?
Yeah, you you type that into Google and.
Yeah. And that's.
South Was it in South America or was it a Japanese model?
I, I, I have huge reservations. They're selling a car in South
America or something. Obviously you can fresh the crap
out of it. The most unfortunate?
Day. Then again, they make they did.
Buy that one pasta. Buy that.
One like horse pasta. I guess people are into for who
would talk. So what is what good to me?
Whore. Yeah.
In what language? In Spanish.
That is shit. So they didn't sell that in
Spain, so. A frequent Spanish insult is
puta madre, which I believe just employs Your mom's a whore.
Your mom's a whore, yeah. I watched a lot of narcos and
that was a frequent frequent line so.
Yeah, I really like that one. I was like, OK, well, all right.
So can we go to Japan and buy one?
Can we go? Absolutely.
Piss off a lot of the Spanish kids at school I.
Was thinking of buying this next one which is fascinating.
So Mitsubishi question 6. Mitsubishi made a little K
bubble car so it looked like a weird bubble car called the mini active urban. What vehicle?
Not vehicle. Think more like oh God, think
more stupid. Mini.
Active Urban. Actually, everyone's back in.
I'll give you a clue. It's just like a type of another
name for a type of shoe that you'd wear.
You know how you've got like sneakers and you've got thongs and stuff like that? So another one of those, yes.
Runner. No.
Ed. Yes, Ed.
Loafer. Nope.
Chad. Yes, Rob.
Clog. Chad got in there.
Next boot. No, not boot.
Do you want to do the round? Well, I'm still got the guess.
Oh yes, that's right, Mini active Urban slipper.
No, but you got the S right, So we'll go around again you.
Got the S right Mini? Activity.
So it starts with S. Shoe, Chad, Chad.
Chad. Not shoe, Chad.
Sandal. It's sandal What?
I'm so dumb. That is a dumb thing I've ever
heard. What the hell is?
That mini active urban sandal which was shrunk down to the word mouse. Oh.
My God. That's what I was thinking.
I was like, it's probably gonna like, yeah, the acronym is gonna be like mouse or something. That's the Mau.
Well, here's what you know. This is for David Prince.
He always mentions the the the the joy pop turbo.
So the every Suzuki, every joy pop turbo.
So that that's just one mention of the week, as it's good to mention most weeks. But weird names.
Yeah, like the cooler cars. Weird.
Cars like you look at a bottle of soy sauce that's from Japan.
It's like super ultra, you know, number one, number one, extra special plus plus, yeah. Active.
So that's that's, I reckon probably my favourite out of that one. Yeah, it's a pretty good one.
Really terrible, but good. Terribly good.
I mean the the mother ones are pretty funny, but yeah.
Mm hmm. Yeah, question #7 Toyota Corolla
had to join with the crazy names for cars and they released the Corolla Super. What now?
I'll give you a second if you think you might know, but then I'm going to give you a clue in a moment.
Chad. You think you might know what it
is? Oh.
No, I don't think so actually. I just thought about it.
It's not a Corolla. So it's super something.
The clue for this one is think about what's just happened in Queensland. And it was happening, happening
a lot. Rob got in there.
Storm, Alan. Chad.
It's more in a storm, Alan, I'm thinking Alan, Super cyclone.
Nope. Something that happens in a
cyclone, Ed. No, Chad.
And then we'll be Ed. I was going to say tsunami.
Nope, they didn't cop one of those.
Is it? I mean, I doubt they're calling
it super rain. I was going to go super wind.
Yeah, super windy. Oh yes, is.
The Corolla. Super windy.
My God. Super windy was.
It different to the Corolla. It just looked like a Corolla.
I mean, if it was mine it'd be super windy in there.
Oh. Good one mate.
Straight after those like Greens.
Nice old folks would make it pretty windy in there.
Yeah, you know, it depends where I've been and what I've eaten.
It's it's. You got to get to the like 80
plus when it's shameless fighting, not even technology, it's just bluffing along. Sponsored by Hyde, you know.
I got high hopes for this next one.
Yeah, you're all right. Yeah, you're all right.
Question 8 The Honda Joy machine was the first generation of witch Honda. Oh God.
I think the Honda like models, you know, you got Honda Integraism. Yeah.
Jazz. No, not jazz, Mr Ed.
Was it the Honda motorbike that the the cub like the Super cub cub thing? Mr. Allen, I'll.
Just go to civic. No.
It can't be the Ceroix. The Ceroix was was blood or
blade, whatever it is. Yeah, David Prince would be
yelling at the radio at this point.
Hey, was that a committee? Meeting.
Yeah, he's at a committee. Yeah, OK.
He would have smashed us this round.
He would have absolutely annihilated us.
What was the word again? It was the Honda Joy machine.
Joy Machine. I'm going to say Joy Machine
would be their insight. No.
I think Rob, you got you're in. No idea, I'll just throw it out
there. Prelude, not Prelude.
It was their HRV. Oh, really?
First one first Gen HRV I. Don't recall anyone being split
it's. Not a joy machine.
All right, Question 9. Isuzu made a car called the
Isuzu Mystery Utility. What?
Oh, sorry, the mysterious utility.
What? Mysterious.
Wasn't that the Ed the the wizard thing?
Got it. Yeah.
Oh, there you go, wizard. Well done, the Isuzu mysterious
utility wizard. Jesus Christ.
What's been in another quiz, We've had that before.
That's where I learned that. Yeah, there you go.
They. Call it the they call it the MU
for short. Yeah, MUX.
So that's what that's what the MU in the MUX is for.
Urias utility. Man, I think you gave us I.
Think I did, yeah. You know, I've never spelled
that. I never remembered it on the.
Person. It's been a long day.
All right, let's. I'm just.
Am I the only one that has questions?
Why are you spelling wizard with an?
XI don't know, huh? Harry bought it.
Why? You're a wizard, Alan.
You're a wizard, Japan. So you should.
Buy I have several questions. What are we having told Japan?
Japan. Which?
Question now we're. Up to the last one.
Oh. Shit, so score check.
Myself and Ed are on three, Chad and Rob on 1.5 each other one
one here. Cody's winning because.
Golf rules on winning. Scotty's winning, so he's going
second on two because you know, we when we don't get them, the quiz master gets them, sorry. So it could be anyone's game,
so. I never knew these until I
looked them. UPS.
All right, last one and last time.
We'll come with a clue straight away.
OK, There was Mitsubishi at it again.
This one's called the Mitsubishi Minika.
What? And the clue is think of salads,
but not salad types. Things that could go into
salads. And don't think of dressings.
Hey, Alum. It's the Minika tomato.
Well, not tomato alum. The Minika lettuce.
Yeah, the lettuce. What?
Wow, jeez, that's. Let's do another score check,
buddy. So it's myself and Ed on three,
you on 2 alum Chad and Robin 1.5, Scotty on two as our quiz
master. So it's a tie for first place
between Eduardo and myself. Oh, we need a tiebreaker.
Oh jeez. She's a tiebreaker heartbreaker.
Obscure car name. I can find another one.
All right, we'll do cryptic cars.
Who's gone? We'll do cryptic cars.
Are we ready? The Daihatsu unclothed.
That's unclothed naked, that one.
You needed. You got it.
Yeah, yeah. The family.
I just looked at that one too. Yeah.
You know, there's the man. So the Bongo friendly and the
Honda life dunk. Life dunk.
I don't think the Japanese understand the the English language too well. Do they?
Like they really don't. They don't.
Care. Either they don't care.
They're just like we're going to do what we want.
Yeah, let's just put words that sound cool, yeah?
I guess it's like the Honda that's.
Well, the 100 beat, you know, like that's yeah, I mean it beats a bit more better than than that, but you know, I.
Have a car called Volkswagen up exclamation.
Exclamation mark, that is true. The only, the only VW, I think
we all agree that we kind of like, yeah, that's what I think.
That's pretty much the only one that we all can agree on.
The Great Wall Wingle, but I really actually don't mind the look of the Mazda Laputa Hydro. It looks good it.
Looks. You want to talk about not
stealing cars? No one's going to steal that
car. Not.
In Spain at least. And what was that?
What was the first one? Scotty because that was an
interesting looking car. The Mazda Carol Carol me lady.
Yeah, what? What?
What? I mean the the Nissan Toronto
regular Starfire is pretty cool too.
Yeah. That's pretty beefy.
It is pretty cool. The the carry me lady kind of
looks like a like a hybrid between a a micro March and like a Mazda 121 bubble. It's got a got a bit of got a
bit of that about it with with the front end, but it's a carry me lady, so. The the Toronto Sapphire is
awesome. Yeah, that's really cool.
It looks like an RVR, like a Mitsubishi RVR type look.
Yeah, I'm looking it up now too. And then, if you really want,
you can get yourself a Gaylord Gladiator.
It's my kind of car. Actually an Indian restaurant
called Guy Lord, I think in the city, yeah.
And Lord. Yeah, it was an Indian
restaurant, wasn't it? Yeah, it was.
Not that I've ever been, I think.
Edward, there was. You know, deeply disappointed.
The Indian food was OK, but it wasn't what he intended to get to. I think that's a quiz.
I think that's a quiz and I think that's AI.
Think it's a podcast, gentlemen. Before you cancelled.
Thank you. Yeah.
So we'll start with some plugs. Alum's Lawns coming coming to
Mower Lawn near you. That's it.
You know I'm happy you you pay me an.
Oh my, good job. See you man.
And. The the, the the conks out after
like, you know, a week. Yeah, it's like using a non
Unless you're one of his neighbours then don't hit him up because we don't want him to to keep getting the councils council at his place. Just delivery.
He's delivering to a place near you, Scott.
He's a golf team of the week. I don't have one this week
because I was doing the quiz so. OK, just coming.
Up with a big car names like the Renault Lacar.
The car, Yeah, the car which? Means golf tip of the week.
If there's a thunderstorm outside, like there might be tomorrow, don't wave your Golf Club in the air.
Good idea, great golf tip. Biting time down to the tree is
stupid. Yeah, that's a that's a dumb
thing. Just get down low and just crawl
down the fairway, Army crawl it back to the clubhouse.
Everybody. Well, I've got a.
Buy, swap and sell so. You go.
Go for it, BMW. 525I sold sold sold.
Was it taken and delivery late this week?
Very nice, that was. A really clean example that.
Was a nice car. Very clean car, very clean car.
The Suzuki Swift is available still that's 08 manual.
So death proof swift hatch that's 5800 drive away.
Nice nice little silver runner for someone and what else were I just bought that two Ade so that will be on the market shortly.
Not quite sure what I'll ask for that, but I'll take it to the Merck show and put a price on it. 20 bucks on a pack of
siggies. Oh yeah.
Good, Alan. Yeah, good.
I'll even thought of double happiness ones and how kind of double happiness. And my.
Stocks. Give him some Manchester's or
something. No, double happiness is where
it's at. And you also do a podcast with
Mr Mr. Look, we used to yes, auto retro, you can listen again

Absolutely. That's worth.

I mean, you could, you can really move off these things for. Banger.

W123. But, well, that'll.
Be cool, has it got wipers on the the headlights?
No, there's never a 123 thing. There's a 122.
Six, Yeah. 6:00 I've got a funny story for you, Steph.
Oh, sorry, so we have to finish. No, that's fine.
Yeah, Hit it, hit it. No, that's what I told you
before. So my mum and dad went to see
that film. Anora won all the awards at the
Oscars. I think it's called Anora.
Never. Heard of it?
Anyways, there was a done review on it I think.
It's a bit of a independent film, but it sort of swept the floor at the Oscars, Best picture, best this best, best actress, blah, blah, blah. Anyway, the final scene in that
film, I saw it at the cinema Nova in Carlton.
Well, she's the the guy drives the W123 Diesel left hand drive.
Of course, being European, the chick jumps over to his side, jumps on top of him to sort of make out in the final scene.
And the seat, you know, she reaches down for the lever and sort of flings the seat back. And my friend, we get to the end
of the film and my friend goes, oh, not a bad film, you know.
And what do you think, Ed? I said well.
You can't do that in 1/2. Three, I said they had.
They had me right to the final scene.
We all know the government has a wheel.
You. Can't bring the seat back like
that. That's inaccurate.
You want the whole. Film for me.
Immersion ruined. Ruined.
I couldn't believe any of the story after that.
It's like the Top Gear episode where they're filming a movie.
It's about the whole amount for 10 seconds.
Like film holding it down for 10 seconds.
Enough detection control. They just got the camera on it
for 10 seconds. Oh yeah, there you go.
Watch out for that in the final scene.
If ever you watch the. Oscar, I'm off it.
I'm off it. I'm done it.
Gives back to you awards now. One of awards the brutalist
Don't watch it. Don't watch it.
No good. Three hours of just yeah, just
correct. Rob, you're shaking his head.
No good. No good.
