What have they got in F3's? Are they V8?

That is a. Sure, they're definitely not

turbocharged, that's why they're extra loud, but I'm not 100% sure. The F twos are very close, a bit

louder but very close sounding to the F ones.

They backfire a lot from what I noticed and watching F2.

They got the pop and bang tunes on them, the goal fire tune, the. Goal Fire tune.

Yeah, they've got a bespoke 6 on the three and a half 3.4 litre

naturally aspirated engine Revs to 8 grand so.

Well where do I start? I've been working on an E430 to

get it roadworthied and club plated.

Well, I was going to because it's going to cost too much to get it registered for this particular guy who wanted it.

And so by the time we got lower control arms, lower ball joints, what else do I have to buy for it?

There's a few other bits and pieces, can't remember exactly.

So I almost spent all this money on it.

So my nephew, I went and went down the club, got the roadworthy, got it all transferred to his name through the club, got him the plates and now he's got a a club car.

I I bought a new lawn mower on Sunday.

Oh jeez. OK, And in TrueCar fan fashion,

I bought a petrol lawn mower Goodman.

I'm not going to buy that battery powered crap.

I have battery powered tools. Don't get me wrong, I have some

rogue stuff. I have some Tool Pro stuff, but

I can very quickly go down the servo, get 10 litres of petrol and get my lawn mower going again.

I'm not going to sit around charging, you know, and that's kind of the the thing that pushed me towards petrol powered model. You see the ones with the?

With the like the the the full 240 Volt cable, like they're, they're constantly moving it. I'm like if you if you go over

it, you're killing yourself. You.

You I. Like I I've seen something

again, what's the point there? Lord, they didn't have a decent

extension cable on it either. Like it was like just one of the

inside indoor ones or the white ones.

It's a, it's a, it's a mystery one.

Yeah. And I was like, that's, I mean,

So for the last nearly 20 years, I've been suffering with this Victor lawnmower that my old man purchased.

Everything on this lawnmower bar, the motor is broken.

So you know how like, you know, you can fold the handlebars over. Yeah, the little nut things to

those snapped off. OK, we've J rigged those

together. The actual catcher, it was like

a canvasy catcher, the bottom ripped out of it so I don't have to sow a sack of that. And so it kind of stretches as

it fills with grass. So the catcher doesn't get full,

but it starts spinning our grass.

The catcher's only half full, the actual engine idle and speed control. My uncle snapped the bloody

thing off. Such as high reps.

Yeah, so then the cable went missing, so you literally have to move your finger to near the exhaust and you have to push that your thumb right in right next to the exhaust when you want to turn it off because it won't turn off otherwise.

You can pull the spark plug, but I'm not doing that like that.

Just yeah, the height control still works that I'll give it that. And I've been suffering with

these. Conditions.

Conditions for probably the last 15 or the 20 years we've had it, I think the very first thing to go was the actual catcher and then there's all downhill from there and.

Replace it. Let's take the motor out and put

in. Put in like a go Kart.

Or something. Yeah, we might do that.

So it it's been a long suffering.

So because my, my old man was overseas and if he saw me go to Bunnings, he'd tell me to return.

Otherwise, that's, that was my whole plan.

I'm like, I'll get it now and then.

My God was the lawn mowing so easy.

Like look, it's one thing to be like a dad and be like, I bought this and we're keeping it forever.

When you paid good money for something, I'm 90% sure he bought the cheapest 1 he could. And you know, it fell apart from

that point on. Like I said, Briggs and Stratton

motor, you know. Yeah, reliable.

They're good. Reliable everything else dog

shit. So you know, my solution was you

know, I'm buying my first long mower.

So I'll buy ones, cry once and I'll pay something reasonable.

I wasn't going to go the whole Honda and spend $1100.

I'm like that's above my pay grade with.

Vt. Yeah, I know.

But this one was about I think 570 and with the Allen rule of no paying full price, I took good old Mac Christian to Bunnings with me, got his 5% discount.

So, you know, that's saved about 30 bucks.

Is it still a breezing Strat? Yeah, so it's a, it's a mass

sport, but it's got a Briggs and Stratton motor.

Yeah, good. And the the catcher has a

lifetime warranty does. It Yeah.

And it's made out of HDPE rather than no.

Sucks. Yeah, Yeah, exactly.

It was like the the old one. Yeah.

It's A2 Blade. This is A4 Blade.

And it's got a few extra, you know, features.

But it was a considerable difference.

Like I was not fighting and beating myself up, like nearly burning my thumb off every single time I need to, you know, empty the catcher out. So yeah, like, I, I had quite a

good time. And I told my old man, you know,

as he, he gave me the upset smile of like, you gone and done it, did you? And I was like, tell you what,

if you want to use your lawn mower, you can buy all you can.

You can, you know, you leave my lawn mower that I bought with my own money and you can use your lawn mower to mow the lawn.

And when I'm mowing, I'll use my lawn mower.

You'll see how easy you do. Like, yeah, give us your lawn.

You know, putting way too much oil in it, in the mixture, It's just like. Yeah, just like sitting there

just pumping away. Because all mixing got it was

like, Nah, just half and half. Half and half by 5050 mix.

Can't blow it up. It was 50.

Speaking of which, the the lawn mower didn't come pre oiled.

I just came with assembly Lube I'm assuming yeah.

So I did go down to my local super cheap got some new lawn 10W30 semi synthetic. That's what was advised.

I was looking for 10:40 just because I'm like in the off chance I operated on like a 43° day, even though there'd be a fire band most likely yeah, most likely.

I wouldn't mind the X prediction, but I couldn't really find it. Everything was like 5 W 40 and I

was like, yeah, I'll just go to 10:30.

At least it's got oil in it. Exactly.

So you've had an interesting week.

Yeah, still not as interesting as Alan's ongoing experience.

Yeah, I I did a bunch of car stuff on the weekend.

I went and helped a mate play around on his Dihata ferosa so.

Cool. So cool.

So we messed around on that for a bit and took her for a little joyride on the on the property. Private property can't come

after us. Mexico, obviously, I.

Had I had no, no coolant hoses, it was just we were just topping up with water into the straight into the engine, go for a little spin just to make sure everything was working like it was going through the gears and, you know, high, low and all that stuff. And yeah, tinker on that for a

bit. I drove the Toronto around

pretty much all day so I did a pretty big drive like from here to Cranbourne South and then Cranbourne S to like Clayton from there to Glen Iris. So like around a fair bit yeah.

And then on the way back home, I'm just about going through the tunnel and just happened to gaze up and down onto the like into the dash. And so the temperature was like

starting to climb. And I'm like, oh, that's, that's

something. And yeah, so I just thought

hopefully if I get out of the tunnel, I might, might straighten out or not right. And it just kept going up.

And I was like, I've got to pull off.

And I just pulled off at Montague St, went down like a side street in Docklands. And I thought I'm definitely

going to blow the head if I just keep driving at home.

So I just, I took advantage of my many years of paid roadside assist and I got a tower home just because I didn't run at risk, you know, doing ahead on that car.

So yeah, I'm not sure too sure why it's happening.

I thought I'd fix the problem, which was like a radiator cap, but I'm guessing it's something else now.

Could be more powerful thermostat yeah, I think it's more likely that it's a thermostat.

I, I, I did a radiator flush no longer.

And I definitely know it's there's no blockage in there because I got poured water in the from the top and it comes out of the bottom and yeah, just all of a sudden it just, it was doing it and then it stopped for quite a while and then it just all of a sudden started again and.

I'm going to call my my mechanic for you tomorrow.

Yeah, I was going to remind you today.

I forgot about it too. So I'll we'll see what what they

say and I'll get it towed in to get it looked up.

Just wash the cars yesterday after the sun went down and it was a bit cooler? Yeah, just my car, the I-30 and

my wife's car. Man, that was about it.

I've had a busy couple of weeks. Actually this week in particular

was was was a bit busy. So my housemate, who now has

taken full control of of the laser the that's named Norma because Steph obviously has her Forester has always wanted Apple car play in in her car because she's you know, she's one of those Apple users, Alan. What you jealous of the best?

When you get your Airpods connecting directly from your iPhone straight to your Mac, you know it's a good time.

It is pretty good, I'll pay. That I wouldn't pay the extra

hundreds of dollars for it, but unfortunately, so you know, it is what it is. She's been wanting this because

like hers got like it's full grand grandma spec her her car she's been wanting 1 you know, to put in and it's had the original head unit. I was like.

Is the original unit A tape deck or is?

No, it's a CD player. CD player, yeah.

Absolutely you should. So a person came in is super

cheap and had bought a, you know, a Sony unit and it said it's not the connection to my reverse camera is not working.

I bought it yesterday. I want it back.

And I'm like, normally we have to send it away for warranty, but I was like, look, you know, because it happened yesterday.

Are you sure you wired it properly?

Is like, yeah, look, my other unit had it's exactly the same.

I just want to plug it in and nothing happened.

I'm like, OK, swap it over and I said to throw it out.

So I was like, do we send it back to him?

And my boss was like, well, we can, what we can do is we can, you know, we can, if you're not using it, can we can just sell it. I'm like, how much?

So I managed to get it for a for an OK price and she was happy with that. I installed it into her car and

that was good. And now she's she's got that.

But as soon as I've done that, the air conditioning in her car has now gone. So she's like, well, I'm going

to be driving the car in the 45° heat at this point.

It's been bloody hot. So, so she'll be driving most

likely my, my Laser or, or the Forester, you know, just to get around until her car gets fixed. So, so her car will be booked in

at some point. But yeah, that that'll, that'll

be sorted because that's, it's been a really, really good car.

The Forester got its shoes back, which looked awesome.

Did you pick him up or no? We.

Sent one of the other boys. Okay, so, so they generously

went over to wheel solutions. Thank you a bit of a plug to

them because they've been they've been they've always looked after me and done a good job on all the wheels that I've sent there picked them up and I didn't expect them to do the full paint. I just want them to skim the

edge. But they full repaint repaired,

scanned it done and, you know, painted it and they and they look awesome, like you can't even tell.

So I was really, really rap with that.

So they painted the edges, put them back in the car.

My God, what a difference it makes with that gutter rush.

Like it had like different colours of yellow where my sister said like yellow, you know, things and it was it was they were mounted, but much better.

So they're on the car. Happy wife, happy life.

KM sensors for it. It's only one of them's gone,

but I thought I'd order two. Got them cheap from work.

They, you know, Subaru want drug money for them.

So I ordered some good NGK ones which are Japanese made anyway.

So I'll put that in it at some point next week and once I have time. So yeah, that'll that'll be done

with that. I'm trying to think what else,

what else I'll be doing the Fiesta heaps because it's you know, it's reliable, it works and I think that is pretty much it on my car updates. Gentlemen, now I want to talk to

you guys about what is going on in Australia currently in the world to be fair with with the Kia boys.

So we all we've talked about the Kia boys before, but in particular car thefts in Australia have gone gone nuts.

It's, it's just gone absolutely insane.

The reason why I'm talking about this is because I've had numerous people come in a super cheap and ask and I just want to tell you this guys, I am a trendsetter.

You guys all laughed at me for this especially.

Was it you that laughed about my club lock addiction?

No, I don't laugh about it. I just complained about.

It complained about it. You know, I some of us have to

undo that club lock everyday work on a car that you know should be parked at home. Just saying.

Alan, Dave, I am a trendsetter and because of these reasons, there is now a glow or a prepared Australian shortage of, of club locks because everyone's trying to buy them because people are people are stealing their cars.

And I had a guy come in on, on Sunday when I was working and he has got a brand new Toyota Hilux and it had, it's already been stolen. It's probably, I mean brand new.

I mean like brand new. So yeah, well, that's what we're

about to talk about. They, you know how that happens.

We'll get to that in in in a second.

So they stole it, especially as we know, took the car and joyrided and then basically, yeah, they found it dumped, which he's one of the lucky ones because it's not a BF Commodore and it's been stripped for parts and rebirth.

So he came in, he's like as I come after club lock, I've been everywhere. Have you guys got home?

Like so I showed him the aisle. I'm like, we're clearly empty.

Like there's there's nothing. He's like fire and he's like,

I'm trying everywhere to get. It we're going to Aliexpress

some in and then start selling 100.

Percent we do. 100% we do Cartel club locks.

Cartel Club. Guaranteed to work while they

last. Patent pending on those no so

people are going to to those links and I, here I am I'm like, well, I've been doing this for years and everyone everyone, everyone laughed at me. So now the reason why I'm

bringing this up is because people you know, people are getting desperate and and I was speaking to the guy and he and he was really nice, the guy that had his car stolen and he's like, look, it's hard out there for people like they're losing their jobs. Money's not as easy to come by.

How how are you going to get money now?

I'm still stealing cars. So what they're actually doing

is I think you can buy from Aliexpress and online, you can buy these little OBD boxes that you plug into your OBD port scrambles it, scrambles the OBD and pretend it's the key and then you can start the car. So as as in the SIM, in the

simplest terms, that's how that's how they kind of work.

Now they're also using different, different techniques as well. So they're using like remote

control radars. So like they're scanning your

house to get the, to get the key to get inside the inside the car like because because the keys transmit the a you know, a signal, right? So for a lot of these cars that

are that are like especially like the, you know, the cars that are a little bit older, they're constantly transmitting.

Whereas with the new keys, for example, with my Fiesta key, it will transmit when the keys moving and when it's still for more than like 30 seconds, it it stops transmitting as a safety measure because people, because people are stealing, stealing the, you know, keys that way. So they're going around the

house like like there's, there's, there's videos a lot of them. And then they're, you know, just

scanning all over and then they get it, bang it straight into the car and unlock. They, they work their magic.

So, especially with the VS what they're doing is they're going under the guard, cutting the cutting the alarm for so so when you open the door that that don't, you know, doesn't go off and basically hopping in starting the car with the OBD thing and off it goes to to be chopped up or to be rebirthed into, you know, a million other cars.

So that is the long and the short of it.

Now there's some cars that are really easy to do it too, you know, new range Rovers, VVF Commodores or VFS in particular.

They've they've been running rampant with those, you know, like Hilux is clear, like, but anything new with like a, you know, a push button, start transmitting, you know, key.

It's your your fair game to to these people.

Now that is a big issue because most cars these days, if not, I think all cars for sale like except bar a few, you know, with a, with a push button start and now we also push button that's, that's, that's really fancy and cool.

But now the issues are starting to arise.

So nobody's safe. So people like, well, we need to

get other, other ways to to stop this from happening.

Club locks, disc locks, all the all, you know, all the above and it's, and it's becoming a real, real issue.

There's there are people taking matters into their own hands, which we'll, which we'll cover very shortly.

But I want to think in your opinion, gentlemen, on the on, on how, on if you've heard anyone's cars getting so on the you and what you, what's your take on this whole situation?

So that's one solution because are you saying Matt that your Fiesta when the keys on your bedside table not moving, it's not transmitting therefore? Like it stops, it stops, you

Yeah, it's a it's a it's a new safety kind of key that that they brought in with because on on the on the previous view like on the on the earlier, earlier ones, they were doing it.

So for the new one, they updated it.

Must know a lot of newish cars. I assume it.

It's, it has to be, yeah. How do you find out if your

car's a constant transmitter or a or a not?

That is a great I'd probably look at look it online, check, check the, you know, check the forums and check the, you know, check the Facebook pages like, hey, is my car a constant transmitting key? Or if not, and if it is just you

use a, you know, RFID box, pop it in there and you should be.

You should be. Otherwise, they've just got a

break in your house and physically get the key.

Physically get the key. They still do, but absolutely I

read. That you would.

Absolutely so well, it's, it's not just it's not just, you know, like comments and stuff like BMW's, you know, I'm reading when Mr Cameron drove his BMW to work that day and aware that these are hijacked his driver profile, which which attracted his movements. I slept on Saturday night right

at the back as as he as the car was driving out of the, you know, on the on his driveway. So like they waited to see on

the map where I was all through the day.

So like waited for me to come home and come back the next night. So then they, then they got it

again. So it's, it's insane how like

you'll take it back and I'll come back and steal it again.

It's a really, really, it's a bit of a big issue, you know, and there's a few things you can do to, to kind of, you know, prevent, we'll try and prevent. But you know, if someone wants

your card, you know, they're going to get it, aren't they?

But do you think technology wise, we've gone to the point now where it's everything's so computerised that it's just, it's becoming super easy just to steal cars.

And that's, and that's now and, and you know, companies are realising crap, this is way easy.

Did you think that's, that's had a massive effect?

Because like, I haven't had car thefts like this in, in the news for years. Like it's just, it's just gone

nuts. Yeah, like there's a product you

can basically buy from Aliexpress, I think it's called Flipper Zero. I think it's, it's not car

related. It's more you can basically

break into anyone's Wi-Fi, any sort of thing.

You can break into phones. Basically it's, it's very, very

like cheap and very powerful if you know what you're doing.

Like the, the level of technology, if somebody wants your information, like you said, they're gonna get it.

Yeah, it's, it's very, very tough.

And you know, because we do a movie show, you know, and then check out, you know, the Tuesday review at six PMS.

One of the films, June, basically all based on the books, the technology has advanced so far that combat is now done basically really analogly just with hand to hand weapons because everyone's got such a good technology that the technology trumps itself. So everyone goes back to hand to

hand combat. And like that's kind of what

we're now doing in cars. You're going back to the

analogue methods. You're going to have your

steering locks, your bollards, that sort of stuff.

That's what's kind of kind of protect you because key in ignition, the digital stuff doesn't doesn't do it anymore.

Yeah. I just drive cars that are so

old that. Nobody wants a.

No one wants to seal them. And B, yeah, totally analogue.

video in the US, this guy, this guy got carjacked.

He was hopping into his car into a WRX and these these two guys pulled him out of the car. Went to went to drive it and

realised it was a manual I've. Seen that?

And you know, I'm going to talk about this because he, this guy's going to be, he's going to be SV6 manual.

And last was the last week of the week before he's doing night fill out super cheap and he just hears a car alarm.

Golf. He's like, that sounds like my

car alarm. And he walks outside and there's

people inside his car trying to steal it and it's going out and he's OK. And he says I was right.

And then they just bolted across Pascavale Road and didn't even look 4 lanes bang. And, you know, off they went.

So, so he's, he's like, he's like, they got in pretty easily.

And then now we're just about there.

But he's like, they didn't cut the, the alarm.

He's like, if they were cut the alarm, my car would be gone by now. So it is, you know, like they're

getting in super quick. Range Rovers are probably one of

the easiest cars to get into, which does not surprise me in the slightest because they're an electronic nightmare.

But the, you know, the fact that it's happening to, to no cars kind of safe at this point. And, and car theft's always been

a thing like, like, let's, let's not, let's not, you know, put.

Put I remember in the early 90s or late 90s, I think it was the Hyundai XL was the number one was #1 selling car, but it was also the number one most stolen car that was so easy to steal.

And then part way through that production of that 3990 driveway, they, they made the immobiliser standard, which did, you know, greatly reduce the ship, the thefts.

Yeah. But I told, I told my, my dad, I

don't know how we had our XF Fairmont stolen.

And I'm like, I don't know how they stole it.

You couldn't get into the car in the 1st place.

So the handles kept breaking. But they still, they still

managed to, they still managed to steal it.

So but you know, if, if you want to get into something, you'll get into it. Now, Scotty, you know, have you,

you've obviously had a car, you know, it's taken from you and, and they took it within like a completely different way.

Like they, they said, well, we can't break it.

We'll just take it on a, on a bloody tow truck.

You know, it is the worst feeling in the world.

Like it is actually like you feel invaded, you feel, you know, disgusted. And it just, it just makes you

like so many, so many things are through your head.

Where, where could it be? You know, what would you do now

differently? Like with like, because your car

was, was an analogue car, you know, a key, you know, you had, you know, obviously immobiliser and everything.

Yeah. What, what made you, what, what

would you do differently this time around?

Like if you were to if you were to have a GDR.

I think the best way to go is to have trackers in it.

You know, you, you can get them cheap.

You can get them cheap now. Back then you couldn't and they

weren't as reliable. So it was more of like, hey,

your car's roughly in this area at this point in time.

But now you can be a lot more precise and you can actually see it moving along. You don't see many, I guess car

alarms sold. I think it was a big brand back

then. Viper was a big brand.

I don't think you've seen many of those sold anymore because you can get around them now. They're not as protective.

I think the ones where you start being able to use apps on your phone to start your car and all that kind of stuff, that's scary, yeah. Yeah.

Is it you know, wouldn't it have having an app because you can turn it off as well? Yeah, but it depends.

Like, can you OK, so like I had AI had a, a tracker in one of my cars years ago and the person that installed it said, I'm not going to install the turn off feature because they could be in a lot of traffic. And if something happens and you

switch it off and they, they collect the family of kids or something, I don't want to be responsible for it.

So you refuse to you refuse to wire that into the into the fuel pump. And I'm like, OK, so, so then

what's the point of it? You can still just track them,

but you know at the end of that like turning it off, like yes you can turn it off on the app, but if the car is running with the key in it, I'm not too sure if you still can turn it off.

Is that a possibility? I don't think that, yeah, I

don't think you can turn off the car as it's going OK.

You can have like a, you know, you can do a kill switch on your alarm as well. Like it's a like a feature,

right? So you can have a kill switch

enabled on the alarm. Everything can be connected.

It's just the the switch will turn off power to the fuel pump or power to the ignition or something like that.

So but now once, once the car is going, it's kind of that's it.

It's going. You can track it, yeah, but you

won't be able to like remotely switch it off.

I know the the Brent's alarms that the WRX has had at least my 03. It was a if it the car thought

is you will hijacked. Yeah, it would started the

engine a couple of times to let you know that it was going to shut off. So it assumes that if you're a

thief, you're like on a cars doing something funny, better pull over. Once you pull over, it shuts it

off. And so that would be kind of

your situation where you can't get it started again.

But that's also pretty archaic. And you know, today's society

like given how much things are advanced.

Yeah. So the implications of obviously

you turning off the car in traffic.

And possibly being responsible for an accident is, Yeah, it's quite difficult to deal with. I think I agree with Scotty.

I'm like having as many trackers as you can because, you know, again, Apple products aren't cheap, but Air tags, Air tags, yeah, they're not terribly expensive.

For. For.

Yeah, Yeah, I've already just got one in the STI.

As soon as, you know, it's out of the house, I know it's out of the house. Yeah.

And yeah, you can like basically pinch.

Like Geo fences and stuff like that.

You can. OK, cool.

We're not like you can say, hey, don't warn me if I'm outside of this area. So if like let's say I take it

to work and I take it to home, I can say don't detect at work, don't detect at home. But as soon as it leaves home

and I'm not with it, or if it leaves work and I'm not with it again, it's like, hey, the car's on the move or whatever.

And as long as somebody else has got a phone, which most thieves would have a phone, it's basically going to use like, you know, well, backpack on their dental network and then let you know where they are. And then having more than one,

as well as pretty handy, especially if you put on somewhere really hard to find. If they're gonna look for it,

they're gonna have to stop the car.

Yeah, that gives you time to get there or police to get there, that sort of thing. But also, like, all of them have

got jammers now too. Yeah.

So, so they're jamming signals from coming from that car.

It's always an arms race. So it's, you know, they're

always one step ahead at this point, right?

Really. I would say if they've got

something like that, then they've been scoping you out for a bit and they really want it. Yeah, I think what you're trying

to deter is. Opportunistic.

Opportunist. Opportunist, you know, the ones

that might break into your house and keys or just kind of see it as an opportunity to take it. You know, if they look inside

your car and notice that you've got a club lock on it and things like that, they're going to be less inclined to have a go.

Don't you just give? It a club lock with your foot,

you've got boom and it just snaps.

Oh, well, I've got a big like mine are quite thick and, and, and they're not they're they're they're kind of square tubing, you know, like like they're, they're quite, you know, they're quite strong. But but then yeah, again too,

you know, it's, it's the, the fact that they are, that's that extra step that they got to take to, to get into the car.

So that's, that's an issue. It's it's mainly like, I think

the opportunist Steve's at this point in time are really how would you explain it trying to get in, you know, like for example, my with with that I, I, I work with the VA opportunity for like, like there and, you know, run across fully traffic when, when he got when he got caught out.

But I think one of my BG issues is with this whole thing is how accessible this stuff is to do like the the jammers, the signal receivers, the, you know, OBD plugs and stuff that you anybody you and I could buy it. Yeah, you know, and, and it's,

it's terrifying. It this is probably, you know,

again, going to get a bit dark, but even getting lock picking equipment, you can buy it on Amazon.

So like the locks we have just on our doors at home, they're not really protecting us all that well.

It there's all kind of relies on society being a decent society.

And I mean, like, you know what, it's not OK to steal everyone's stuff. It's not OK to break in people's

houses. And when you kind of get that, I

guess devolving a society where people start doing that and the punishments just aren't there. So there's no, there's no real

kind of reason to not do it. It's kind of where you're

encouraging this behaviour almost and allowing people to be like, you know what, I'll steal a car, don't worry, I'll be out on bail by the evening to steal another car.

Well, if you're on the road, you get, you get slept in the road, yeah. That's and that's what happens.

There are kids literally stealing cars and then.

Going out and doing it again that same night that.

Same night. Yeah.

And it's just like, well, what do we do, you know?

When I was in high school one of my mates got picked up in a car around this area where we are in the studio and he didn't realise that the car was picked up was stolen by a guy.

The guy driving stole the car they got, they got arrested and basically found out that he steals a car every day, pretty much every night, stealing a car.

So it's. And they can't do anything about

it. Like, oh, bad boy, that's a slap

on the wrist. Off you go.

And yeah, we'll we'll see you tomorrow night when we catch you stealing our next car. You know, it's it's it's it

makes sense why there's vigilantes out there now.

Yeah. Like, and a bit of a bit of his

vigilante justice like. Like Scotty, you and I were

talking before the show about the was it the brothers, 11 brothers you got stolen. And they had enough people

stealing their stuff. So they they chased them,

crashed into the Ute skull, dragged the the guy out of the car and beat the living crap out of him like.

Yeah, it's that is basically 215 year old alleged car thieves are recovering from the injuries after the vehicle they are accused of stealing was rammed by another motorist in in Browns Plains. The teenagers were dragged from

the wreckage and assaulted by the passengers inside.

The other Ute So. But the issue is those people

who, who you know, who did the vigilante bit of justice, they're the ones that are going to cop it.

Yeah. Which just makes no sense to me.

Like, look, it's it's very difficult to ever support vigilante justice because just by the nature of it, you never know are you necessarily doing the right thing.

But I think now that we're no longer live on air, we can say it's a symptom of fuck around and find out.

Yeah. And unfortunately, people are

finding out. If the authorities aren't

stepping in, yeah, then obviously the people are going to take matters into their hands.

Somebody will get killed. Some people have gotten killed

already over over car theft. So, you know, the person loses

their life, a family loses a family member, the family got robbed or let potentially lose a person to gaol, you know, and it's all because I think we as a Royal Society kind of have one really like dropped the ball on making sure people, you know, see the effects of their crime. Yeah, absolutely.

like, oh, well, you should have insurance and your car insurance will make you whole. No, insurance never makes you

whole. Like there are very few

circumstances where they can where they will allegedly buy you a new car. That's assuming you can get the

same car, correct. Well, even if you want the new

car, you might not want it. Like if insurance was to say I

will get you a new direct. So I'm like, no, I don't want

don't want an STISTI. Yeah, and I want my STI.

Yeah. You know, are you going to

replace it with one that's got less than 15,000 KS on it?

You're not, you're not. It's always that kind of

trouble, how you're going to find the exact same vehicle.

You're not. So ideally you just want to make

sure yours doesn't get stolen. And then you you want it back.

Toyota Oreon stolen and it was an Oreon.

It was a nice suspect 1 and everything and they found it.

He's like, I loved, he's like, I loved that car.

Like he bought it. He bought it with like 2000 KS

on it, put 200,000 KS on it because he loved it that much.

They stole it out of his driveway.

He woke up together to go to work when they, I used to work with him. He's like, Yep, the car's gone.

He's he's like it hurt. He's like, it's like, I was

like, I don't love cars. He's not really into cars, but

he's like, I loved that car because it was so good.

It was never had an issue. And as soon as I saw the, the

syringes and all the crap on the backseat, he's like, no, I'm not taking the risk. I've got a young kid and he's

like, it killed me to to say goodbye to it because he's like, I'm never going to get it because he's like, that car was so good for me. I'm you know, I'm going to have

to go buy a car. Being convenient to buying a

car. He's, he's like, oh, he could.

They were no late 70s, early, yeah, late 70s, early 80s.

They were driving to go buy a rug because his mum wanted a rug. Anyway, they're getting to the

location and they see on a, on a sign, like a hand cut off, nailed to the sign. Thieves will be punished.

Anyway. He's like, he's like, I remember

a lot like Dale, my dad turned around to me because I was sitting in the back seat. He's like, you're not getting

out of the car. You know, he's, you're staying,

you're staying in here because he's like, I remember sitting in that car with the air con on him for three hours waiting for my dad to come back while I was shopping for a bloody rug.

But, you know, they leave jewellery shops and stuff open at night, you know, because would you want your hand cut off? Oh God, no.

Yeah, because it's it's you know, they're all testament there, man. Like it's it's full on.

So it's, I just feel like the crimes are like the, the the punishment doesn't fit the crime for, for a lot of it there's you know, and it's look, in the grand scheme of things, it's not a big issue. It's not like a thing thing of

national security, but in the same token, these are people's livelihoods. You know, some people, some

people love their cars. Some people, this is what they

this is all I have. Some people need it.

They form a transport. So, you know, if you're, if you,

let's say you're disabled or something and you need that car for an emergency, you go out. Oh, my son's having a fit, go

take him out to the car. Oh, crap, the car's gone.

You know, it's there needs to be a stronger punishment for something like that. Because to be honest with you,

it's kind of bullshit now how how it is.

But I think it is turning into national security because a lot of them now are taking them for joy rides.

So what are they doing? They're just thrashing them.

And then there was one just recently on the news going fast through rural area, and they actually rolled it, you know, and just down the road playing not too far away with kids, kids playing. So you can just see exactly what

could have happened. They crashed it.

They rolled it. And what do they do?

They're jumping out of the car trying to run off.

Yeah, they were only like 1415 years old.

They caught them. What happens?

They're back on the streets again like that.

And so many of them have not just been bailed once.

It's twice 3 * 4 * 5 times filing up because they're still waiting to get them into court and they just keep bailing them, keep getting bail all the time. I mean when is there enough?

Like how many times do you need to get bailed before they're like no he's going to re offend again?

Like why is it not sinking into their heads?

Like if they have an accident and actually hurt someone, like you said, or possibly kill someone, it's like, what's what's the situation then? Like you have.

Yeah. Like you as a society have said,

hey, this kid, you know, has a potential future, so we're not going to take that away. But now they've taken away

somebody else's future. Someone else's life.

Yeah, like they've taken it all the way.

So what's the recourse to that person?

Like they weren't doing anything wrong.

They were just minding their own business trying to live a, you know, law abiding life. And you know, some kids come

through at 120 kilometres an hour in a 40 zone cleans you up.

Yeah, yeah, there are only 14 and 15 and have no clue how to drive. Yeah.

Just before there's? Probably another level of theft

as well too, maybe more of the luxury cars where people were sort of go out to steal specific cars and.

about the thing. Porsche kinds are frequently

done so they can do, what do you call it, cigarette shop burnings. They're like the car of choice

for some reason. Yeah, yeah, yeah, 5 by shootings

and all sorts of things that day.

So there's there's that other part of it as well.

But seeing some of the the YouTube videos in England, the car thieves over there are next level.

They've got trackers on them and they're and everything like that. They're supposed to be back in

their house for a certain time and they're out stealing cars during daylight now because they're not.

They're allowed out at night, so what's going to stop them?

My favourite thing about the UK was they made, they passed a law where cops were allowed to ram guys on bikes because a lot of the thieves were running away on bikes because they knew that cops couldn't, you know, they couldn't ram them because of the safety thing. But they just passed like, you

know what? Ram Yeah.

They'll say you know what, if you see a guy in a bike, just ram them anyway just to make sure.

you print your chassis VIN numbers into the metalwork.

You can buy a portable one. Oh my God.

It'll print it into your dash, into your dash, and it'll print it into your chassis, identical to what you see in the factory and what's like what they were doing.

England to another country don't actually clone that car back in England. Well.

So never reported stolen and they they go on and sell it.

starting to happen over here as well.

We were seeing some cars with Victorian rego plates ending up in like different parts of the world.

during that Merc with Victoria plates, it was like stolen from oh. Yes it was stolen from like

somewhere around virus. Brat, I think it'd.

Be nice and it ended up with its black and white a red plates on it in some backwater overseas and it's like how has this managed to get where it's got with Victoria plates still bolted to it listed as stolen. See, I think I think there's

Obds diagnostics are being used in one in five car thefts these days. Well, that's as far as they

They're also stealing Hiluxes, lane cruises, Camrys, Prados, rough fours, 86's CHRS, which Toyotas are a big, big thing.

Subarus, same period. So yeah, it's, it's, it's an

interesting, you know, kind of thing, but anything with with push button starts are really getting, getting stolen.

So the common makes of the largest percentage of increase in thefts are Kia's, Jeeps, Azus, Land Rovers and Volkswagens over the last few years.

So yeah, they're big companies, big, big, you know, doing, you know, selling lots of cars, big high volume cars and they're all getting nicked. Now my last question is to you.

What do you guys recommend to our listeners to stop potential thieving? What are the things that you

guys do? So we mentioned trackers, we

mentioned club logs. What are some other things that

you would do? Car.

I just put it in the garage, put the keys in one of those bag things or a safe. What else would you put?

Bollards. If I had a very valuable car, I

Leave things visible inside the car.

a charger or something. Don't have a charger, a car

charger, a mobile phone charger or something invisible sight because they're going to assume that maybe you've left something in a glove box or something of value.

What I did with my Sylvia when I first got it because the the doors wouldn't lock like none of the key bars were both stuck so just. As chassis things.

quick release for my steering wheel.

It was the first thing I did. Yeah.

Nice, every time I parked it anywhere or I even at home I would just take the steering wheel off and take it inside with me. So, Chad, you did the Mr. Bean

If you want to go full Mr. Bean, he'd have like the latch and the

didn't get an alarm installed, that was going to be my next thing. Just put a plug in, put a little

like gate latch on it, you know, And then the other thing I used to do was, yeah, take the the the lead, the main lead out of the distributor. Yeah, that way, yeah.

You just you got no spark club lock can't get past the club lock. They just I have one in every

shitty car I have so. But if you take.

The steering wheel off, you can't put a club lock on because that goes on. Well, you know, it's like if you

if you can do one or the other basically.

Yeah, but used to be also when I found out you the the quick release hubs that you can buy, you can even buy a lock for that. You just get a little thing that

goes over the top of that as a key in it.

So even if you both bring your own steering wheel, you're not getting it on there. So just, yeah, just deterrent

I still think a club lock though.

One for me is if you're leaving, if no one's at the house, take your car keys with you. And if you, if you're leaving

cars at home, so when they're going through your house, can't find the car keys, like, oh crap, Well, what are we going to do? At least you know you're taking

them with you. They can ransack your house and

can't find your car keys, but they might be waiting for you when you get home. So give us the keys.

But it'll be at least make their, their job a little bit harder. So they, they won't, they won't

have to do that. So take them with you trackers

keep, keep, keep a tracker in there.

If you if you put one, maybe put 22 Apple Air tags.

Yeah, two, then I'll find. One of a different brand or

something? Yeah, yeah. 1% issue with Air

tags is if you've got like an Android phone or even an Apple phone, I think it tells you if there's something new, yeah.

But if you've got it like somewhere in the chassis trail or something, yeah, good luck finding that in a timely manner.

Of course, being European, the chick jumps over to his side, jumps on top of him to sort of make out in the final scene.

And the seat, you know, she reaches down for the lever and sort of flings the seat back. And my friend, we get to the end

of the film and my friend goes, oh, not a bad film, you know.

And what do you think, Ed? I said well.

You can't do that in 1/2. Three, I said they had.

They had me right to the final scene.

We all know the government has a wheel.

You. Can't bring the seat back like

that. That's inaccurate.
