00:00
All right, hello, everybody.
00:18
Welcome back to another episode of the Dirt Nerds podcast.
00:22
It's a little late this week.
00:25
Kind of worked out for...
00:27
Yeah, it kind of worked out...
00:29
A little bit Dwayne's fault.
00:30
We had stuff going on early in the week I forgot about, so I wasn't able to do it Monday or Tuesday,
00:35
so we're going to do it Wednesday, but Dwayne forgot he had something going on Wednesday,
00:39
so here we are on Thursday recording, but it works out because we're not going to record
00:44
a new episode Monday on Labor Day, so this way we're kind of halfway in between.
00:50
All right, we're betweeners.
00:51
Well for all parties.
00:54
Hopefully everyone had a good week, good weekend, good week so far, I guess.
00:58
We're almost into the next week, and Labor Day weekend is coming up.
01:02
We've got a lot going on in our area.
01:05
As the big one happens in two weekends, the World 100 coming down to Eldora Speedway,
01:10
but before we get into all that stuff, we have sponsors to talk about as always.
01:16
Our first is our friends over at propane.com.
01:20
You hear us talk about them each and every week.
01:22
Do yourself a favor.
01:23
Head over to propane.com.
01:25
Learn more about what propane can do for you.
01:28
Propane is clean, safe, reliable, and affordable energy, very, very available out there.
01:36
All kinds of different uses these days.
01:38
Everyone sees the tanks behind people's houses out in the country.
01:41
Yes, very, very common to heat your entire house.
01:44
Last night for dinner, I used some propane, grilling on the old grill.
01:47
Dwayne wasn't here, so sorry, Dwayne, you missed out again?
01:53
It's a surprise to you, right?
01:55
Also, stuff in, as we said, residential for outdoor living and all kinds of other different
02:01
uses, more and more in industry and transportation, school bus fleets, police car fleets, taxi
02:09
fleets, all that stuff is switching over to propane solely, but surely agriculture, it's
02:15
going to become real popular here come this fall as all those grain dryers and
02:18
stuff use a lot of propane energy, so again, all kinds of different uses.
02:22
Head over to the website propane.com to learn more about what propane can do for you, because
02:27
as they say, propane is energy for everyone.
02:32
There, that's even for Rick even though he's in Alaska.
02:39
Ah, catching some races in Alaska, huh?
02:42
Yeah, his dad lives there, so he goes there once a year and always goes on those few
02:47
races and yeah, it's funny because he's like, man, you got to get there sometime
02:51
because he says, you know, the back drops of the tracks are just awesome and the late
02:57
great Kevin Huntley always told me that too when he went over there and he goes, yeah,
03:02
they don't have the best of cars and the best of races and you know, a lot of cars
03:07
but it's back drops and stuff are awesome.
03:10
Yeah, they got, I've seen Rick post pictures when he comes back and they may have like
03:14
four or six sprint cars and yeah, they're not, you know, pop in high end stuff
03:20
and the tracks are like borderline cinder.
03:23
They're not really dirt because you know, the landscape of Alaska is just a little different
03:28
than we're used to.
03:31
But hey, it's a reason to go racing way up there up north.
03:37
I'm sure they use a lot of propane in Alaska just saying.
03:41
Our next sponsor is our friends down at the whistle stop.
03:47
So it's a weak whistle.
03:50
As we say, you can barely hear it.
03:52
I was supposed to stop bar and grill as we talked about World of Hundreds coming up if you're
03:57
heading down to Eldora Speedway.
04:00
Just head seven miles south on state route 118 into the heart of Ansonia and you will
04:04
find the whistle stop.
04:06
Be sure to stop by, grab some of their awesome pizza, they got cheap t-shirts.
04:11
Be sure to stop in, grab yourself a shirt, cold drinks, great sand, which is everything
04:15
I've ever had there and mean to win both has always been absolutely delicious.
04:21
If you want to check out the menu, hit up whistlebar and grill.com.
04:23
You can even order online, pick up at the drive up window and they have door dash services
04:28
available up to the racetrack now.
04:30
So anyway, you want to enjoy some of the awesome whistle stop food they can take
04:39
So you go this Sunday like one of our main listeners, Matt Swanderstake and they
04:44
said 15 people now and 12 of them ever better than there.
04:48
Cause he takes groups of people, you know, to the races and Charlie gets new people
04:54
and there's some of the youth groups and different things.
04:58
So they're planning on going to whistle stop Sunday for the big races, Eldora.
05:02
And there's at least 12 new ones right now going.
05:07
And if you're, I thought like keeps doing our stuff, you know, yeah, our people
05:13
show out Andrew, if you're less than they show out.
05:17
And if you're in the area again, you have a long race weekend at Eldora, you head a little
05:21
further south downtown Greenville, Ohio, be sure to hit up the sure shot taphouse.
05:27
46 actually 50 now because there's four self poor taps upstairs as well as the 46
05:36
Self poor taps, all kinds of beer on tap, usually some ciders and a seltzer as
05:41
But they have everything from your domestic beers to some local stuff, IPA stouts, porters,
05:46
all kinds of different stuff to try.
05:48
You're only charged by the ounce.
05:49
So that way if you want to try one of their interesting beers, you may not want to commit
05:54
to the entire pint.
05:56
It makes it real affordable to have some fun and try all the different stuff that's
06:01
They got one that I believe describes Dwayne Perfect called Ghost Face Killa is a sour
06:10
fruited ghost beer, whatever that means.
06:14
They got the funky Diablo version three.
06:19
I mean all kinds of stuff.
06:20
I think everything from your Bud Lights, Bush Lights, Coors Light, stuff like that
06:25
Be sure to check it out.
06:26
It's a really cool place.
06:27
I know race weekends.
06:28
They usually open at 11 on Thursday.
06:30
Maybe Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
06:33
So they do try to stay open for the race crowd.
06:36
And while you're there, you can head upstairs, enjoy some activities up in the Bullseye Game
06:42
You got 24 arcade games, four duck pin bowling lanes, all self-service.
06:46
So you can take your drinks up there, have some fun with some friends, challenge
06:49
each other to some awesome games.
06:51
Really cool place to check out.
06:54
And if you're interested on Friday, you can even get yourself a ride there with
06:57
the lunch with Tap House Turn Bus Trips or Rollin' Off from Eldora Speedway.
07:03
On Friday, September 3rd, if you go to sureshottaphouse.com, go to Tap House
07:08
Events, click on the Tap House Turn Bus Trips.
07:12
I'm sorry, September 5th, not 3rd.
07:15
$50 a ticket, but that gets you a $10 port card.
07:18
It gets you a buffet and gets you some time to shop downtown Greenville.
07:27
Or you can hang out at Sure Shot, enjoy some of the activities up in the Game Lounge as
07:34
So really cool thing they got going.
07:36
First bus departs at 10 a.m., the second bus departs at, sorry, here we go, where are
07:45
1130, I think, isn't it?
07:48
Somewhere in there.
07:49
Oh yes, 1130, sorry.
07:51
So yeah, if you go to sureshottaphouse.com, you can get your tickets there.
07:57
Again, another way to support someone who supports racing.
08:01
Yeah, good time, had by all, and a really cool place to check out if you haven't.
08:06
So be sure to get there while you're down at the racetrack.
08:10
I wonder if he's got Floyd's Deluxe there.
08:15
I did not see that.
08:16
Well, the makers of Zombie Dush, you know, three Floyd's out of Indiana.
08:22
They have a new one called Floyd's Deluxe for guys like me, you know, that don't like Zombie
08:30
They made a more general beer and, you know, another loyal listener, he still listens every
08:38
Steve Parks, you know, he's got his son and a lot of family members work at three
08:44
So Steve Hemekokomo, I saw he goes, okay, he goes, you got him in it?
08:48
I said, yeah, he goes, gotta try this one since you're always giving the Zombie
08:52
He goes, I got to get you promoting something to three Floyd's and Floyd's Deluxe.
09:00
So there's something I like from three Floyd's now that is not Zombie Dush, but it is called
09:07
Got a nice little golden red can.
09:11
Matter of fact, if he seen me after the race, which he didn't, he was going to
09:15
send me some home so you could try it too.
09:17
Well, he says, if you go to Forecrown, he says, he
09:21
will have something for you.
09:22
Well, and we can, we know the owner.
09:26
So I'm sure we could arrange a request to get some on tap.
09:30
So yeah, Floyd's Deluxe is pretty good.
09:37
So some racing was head in our area.
09:41
Dwayne was busy attending races.
09:43
I was not able to make it out to any surprise there shot.
09:48
I knew you'd have some words.
09:51
Dwayne, what was your weekend like in the racing world?
09:55
Well, Thursday, went to Kokomo for the first night of Smackdown and, yep, seen our
10:02
buddy C Park, seen Bill from Sprint Car Hall of Fame, seen quite a few people.
10:08
Seeing Dustin Smith and, oh, I don't know, seen quite a few people walking around
10:13
there and, yeah, 54 cars.
10:16
I was surprised they had that many.
10:18
I think it's the highest car count they've ever had for Smackdown and Man What a Race.
10:25
First night Kokomo did not disappoint and Briggs Deanner took the win on Thursday night
10:31
with a great battle and, yeah, it was a good race and that's just getting bigger and
10:42
So I got over there on Thursday and then Friday went up to Michigan, been up 996
10:47
for a while and tracks different even, you know, they've changed it a couple of times
10:53
and it's even different, a little different than the last time I was up there a couple
10:58
If I had that big late mile race and ended up paying $6,000 to win like a $37,000
11:04
And I mean, I don't want to say it's disappointed car count because they had a 26 or 28,
11:11
but, you know, they had a few, you know, Stumblers there and Spangler and Thorough B and Chad
11:19
Finley, which ends up winning it and Chase Buda, you know, a few guys like that.
11:25
But, you know, you know, and I've talked about this for and I get a lot of people
11:30
like, are you starting late mile series?
11:31
You started late mile series Friday night was probably an example why I don't because
11:37
you're paying $6,000 to win and $500 to start and all these people that complain about an
11:42
old money in late mile racing, not one of them was there.
11:46
Okay, they couldn't travel that far, you know, I mean, that's like, man, that was
11:52
hell of money, you know, it was good money and it wasn't just $6,000 to win.
11:55
I mean, it was, it was like a $37,000 purse for late mile away main, which was more,
12:01
I think, than the all star purse and what's the all stars was up there as well.
12:05
They had 26 of them and one track fault, just a very, one of those shows that he
12:13
races went well and they mains were disasters.
12:17
Several yellow flags, several couple red flags and a lot of y'all.
12:24
I mean, the track crew did take forever to clean up a few messes.
12:29
I say forever the one I swear that's going to have to call in a record
12:32
from somewhere else is a late mile loss of tire and a heat race.
12:36
And it literally took, I know I'm not shitting you.
12:39
It was at least 25, 30 minutes to get this guy because he went over the bank and
12:45
turned three, which, you know, ain't that far.
12:47
He went out on the old track and I don't know what the issue was, but I
12:51
don't know if they had a sandwich break or a beer break over there or what,
12:54
but it was a good 25, 30 minutes to get it all.
12:57
He didn't lose a tire.
12:58
One like he flipped one like he, you know, tore the suspension off.
13:02
One was like, like, I'm not sure what was going on there.
13:05
But other than that, it was just a lot of spin outs.
13:10
So I think they started with 24 late miles and I think eight finished sprint
13:17
There's a fuel stop, 11 laps into it.
13:21
So if that tells you anything, so, but one day was racing on the track
13:26
and not spinning or under caution, the all sorry, I mean, it was pretty good.
13:31
The Parker Price Miller took the win there.
13:35
A couple of different leaders in that one, one leader in late models,
13:39
Chad Finlay broke track record and started on the pole.
13:43
And I mean, Stemler looked like he was going to give him a run,
13:46
but he broke right away. Thoroughly broke.
13:50
Let's see who else broke.
13:51
But just about everybody but Finlay broke.
13:53
Chase Budo was actually running down and actually looked like in the last few laps
14:00
days in traffic and Chase was just, I mean, it looked like he was going to pass
14:04
and he was putting a move on him and the yellow came out with one to go.
14:07
So I think he would have passed Finlay on the last lap, but maybe not.
14:13
It was one of those, you wait all race for it to get competitive
14:16
and it's competitive than yellow comes out.
14:20
But yeah, it wasn't, I mean, I'll say it was a bad show because it wasn't,
14:27
you know, terrible, but they means were just one of those long drug out,
14:32
long drug out deals and, you know, but you'll have that some nights.
14:38
And then for Saturday went up to stayed overnight up there at I-96.
14:44
So we went to the casino, you know, for lunch and then had to try some luck
14:48
at the machines and the roulette table and stuff and roulette was terrible.
14:54
But I got ready to leave like, oh, I'll try a slot machine for a second.
14:58
And that made that paid for everything that I lost and the rest of the trip.
15:07
Melissa came out a little bit ahead too.
15:09
So, you know, it wasn't a bad, bad day at all.
15:12
So we went up to the Chuck Wilson Memorial race.
15:16
I've always been close friends with the Wilson's for years and, you know,
15:20
Chuck's later years of racing was always helped him out too with Chad,
15:25
because when he was traveling the boss, we'd always traveled together.
15:29
So, you know, a Memorial race for Chuck and not bad, 24 or 410s,
15:35
which for ballers pretty good.
15:37
You know, I mean, they average 15 to 20 regular show,
15:43
but I had a few guys from our area.
15:46
Jack Nichols went there.
15:48
Stuart Brubaker, Bryce Lucius was up there.
15:53
Avain Gurley, which he's tracked champ up there from last year,
15:56
but he's been hit and miss up there this year.
16:02
Bryce Lucius and Keith Schaeffler had a pretty good battle.
16:04
And Thomas Schindlerley was right there.
16:07
Game McCarron and Brubaker is running top five.
16:09
McCarron got a flyer and over.
16:12
I forget who that ended up running over and got taken out.
16:17
I forget who the heck it was.
16:19
It might have been Jack Nichols.
16:21
But anyways, pretty good race with Bryce Lucius taking the $3131 win up there.
16:31
So a pretty good deal.
16:32
Then, oh, Manix, what is it, Furquen, Furquen or whatever, modified win.
16:44
Took the modified win, which the world's greatest modified driver was up there
16:49
and Todd Sherman and some of those guys.
16:52
So Max and, you know, Manix took the win.
16:58
So that was a pretty good race too.
17:00
So, but yeah, it was a decent show up to Butler.
17:05
He said it took a little longer.
17:06
I was going to go to Middle Street.
17:07
Yeah, the Modifieds did.
17:09
Modifieds, they had 30, had 102 cars in the pit.
17:13
So between the four divisions, they had like 35 or 37 compacts,
17:20
which they had two B mains for the compacts.
17:23
So it's because for the Wilson Memorial, it's not only four tons that get jacked up first.
17:27
The Modifieds Hornets and three socks do too.
17:30
And those Hornets were racing for more money than they raced for all year.
17:34
And oh, you can tell it, there was some full kind.
17:37
We even flipped one down the front stretch.
17:41
Then, yeah, they, but they was funny.
17:45
They put on a pretty good show that was wild.
17:50
So there's a lot of cars and, you know, they didn't really dink around or anything.
17:54
Just one of those nights, or the Mod A, I mean, everything once moved to the Mod A,
18:00
there's a lot of spin-offs in the Mod A.
18:01
But once they got it rolling, it was like the first five laps took 25 minutes to get in.
18:09
But once they got to rolling, they clicked them right off.
18:11
So yeah, a good show up there, decent show.
18:15
Those old-timers night up there too.
18:17
So I got to see guys like Hank Lauer that used to race and actually Doug Zimmerman
18:22
that raced up in that area a lot was
18:24
driving one of the Lodging cars.
18:26
And so, well, that was pretty cool too.
18:29
But then, then was going to head to Bill's stream on Sunday for the Fast and Boss show.
18:35
And Shelby and Asher came over and we went to my mom's and just
18:42
decided to have a family night instead.
18:44
Because I was looking at the car council and that.
18:45
I'm like, yeah, I ain't going to rush over there and I'll take a night off.
18:51
We just planned on going over there.
18:53
But it ended up not.
18:55
So we got three of the four races I was planning.
18:58
And yeah, going busy weekend.
19:02
But yeah, Milestream Cap Henry ended up getting the win.
19:06
And the Wing Fast, I believe it was the Fast Series race.
19:11
And then Ricky Lewis won the non-Wing.
19:16
But Saturday, also in our area, Wainsfield raced the All Star Circuit of Champions.
19:23
And who won that one?
19:26
Parker Price Miller.
19:29
Because he swept the All Star weekend.
19:33
Because he won Friday night as well.
19:36
I think 13th win because Cap won Friday night at Attica.
19:41
Because it's 13th win of the season.
19:45
Which I don't know.
19:48
Which I don't know why I usually look at that stuff.
19:50
But supposedly that's tied for the top and the top with, I think, gravel.
19:56
Gravel, Mackery, I think.
19:58
I think all three of them are up top.
20:00
I think that's 13 wins is the top.
20:06
PPM won Friday night at I-96 as well.
20:11
And then Chad Finley.
20:12
You may have said that Chad Finley won in the late models up there.
20:15
Dwayne said he started up front and stayed up front the whole time.
20:18
He had Butler, Attica.
20:21
Yeah, Cap Henry won the Sprint cars there.
20:23
Our buddy Devin Shields actually got himself the win there.
20:27
Friday night, first time of the year.
20:29
He's been trying like hell.
20:33
Been close and still working on a new car and stuff.
20:37
But it all came together on Friday night.
20:40
Got himself the win.
20:41
Then he went over to Oakshade Saturday night and got the win.
20:44
And also the track championship.
20:46
Which he wasn't even planning on running for.
20:49
Circumstances just happened.
20:50
A couple of weekends, he was going to skip.
20:51
They actually rained out.
20:53
So ended up with only a few races left.
20:56
And it was kind of like, well, why not cap it off?
20:59
And try to win some extra money on the year.
21:02
So congrats to our buddy Devin on getting the win,
21:06
sweeping the weekend for that team.
21:09
You tell you didn't go.
21:11
Yeah, that's right.
21:17
Well, you know why he started winning?
21:18
Because his son, Brayden, he's been running good.
21:22
He found out that he could drive.
21:23
And he's going to whip the old man.
21:26
That's what it was.
21:28
Devin had to stop his game up.
21:30
Well, I did say last time, last weekend,
21:33
or whatever, two weeks ago, he started on the pole
21:35
and went backwards.
21:36
And I said, make sure you tell him.
21:38
So Devin, make sure you remind him.
21:39
When you start up front, you're not
21:42
supposed to have to want to pass cars.
21:44
You're just supposed to stay out there.
21:45
Usually he's got to start further back and try to pass cars.
21:48
So I'm guessing it's just, you know, just first time
21:52
newbie jitters is all it was, right?
21:56
I'll get an angry text on that one.
21:59
Well, and you don't sell t-shirts by starting
22:01
on the pole and win.
22:02
And if you start 10 to win, you sell t-shirt.
22:07
You want style points.
22:09
Anybody can start on the pole and win.
22:11
Not everybody can start 10 to win.
22:12
That's true, I guess.
22:16
You mentioned Kokomo Smackdown.
22:18
That was kind of the biggest one going on in our area, which,
22:22
you know, it's hit or miss with some people paying attention to it.
22:24
But like you said, it's been getting bigger every year.
22:26
The payouts are bigger.
22:27
It looked like there was a hell of a fan attendance as well,
22:30
which it's a non-linked spring car racing in Indiana.
22:33
Yeah, Thursday night was a huge crowd compared to what
22:36
Thursday night usually has been there.
22:39
And then I saw some highlights from Saturday,
22:45
Friday KTJ won, which was another pretty good one.
22:49
I mean, all three races was great.
22:51
I mean, Thursday and Saturday were bangers big time.
22:56
And then I don't know how much you've seen of Saturday's highlights,
23:00
but Briggs Daner has found the fast way around Kokomo.
23:08
Because he won on Thursday, won the USAC Sprint Week show there.
23:15
And then looked like he had a Smackdown.
23:19
His first Smackdown in the box until the middle one and two
23:25
after he took the white flag, the famous Kokomo cushion bidding.
23:30
But Justin Grant was passing him, if you've seen it.
23:33
Justin didn't hit him.
23:34
Wasn't close, but he was putting the move on him.
23:37
So kind of like you were just saying about upfront jitters or what,
23:43
I mean, there's going to be Briggs' biggest win.
23:46
Because I mean, Briggs won a lot, but a lot of his Pennsylvania wins
23:49
are in 600s or speedsters or something where you're winning.
23:53
You know, $600,000, $1,500, he's won a few Sprint car races.
24:00
But this was 30K and he already had 20-some K in his pocket from leading.
24:04
It was $500 a lap and yeah, I just hit the turn wrong
24:09
and the cushion was a Kokomo style cushion and just sucked him up.
24:14
Yeah, I saw the, it was like the last four or five laps
24:17
that was a shootout between those two.
24:19
And yeah, I think everyone was rooting for Daner
24:23
and it was going to be an awesome story.
24:24
And yeah, I mean, he just hit the curb and snapped the car sideways
24:28
and, you know, tumbled over slowly.
24:31
But yeah, definitely sucked for him to go out that way.
24:35
I mean, at least you could say he went down swing in and, you know,
24:39
tried to try, you know, didn't leave anything on the table.
24:43
But yeah, it's definitely a bummer for him.
24:45
And then Grant winning with a broken foot was debating
24:47
even race on the weekend.
24:49
Takes home 30K grand.
24:52
Yeah, and I don't know if you've seen it,
24:54
but you know, they made a special plate, a metal plate,
24:58
then they had two angle rods, you know,
25:01
they supported on the sides and two angle rods.
25:05
Then they hose clamped it to his leg with hose clamps to run the brake.
25:11
And you know, I've been critical of Grant.
25:13
And you know, I'm, everybody knows I'm not the biggest
25:17
address to Grant fan, but you have to give him props.
25:21
That's old school mentality.
25:23
And that just shows you how bad he wants it.
25:25
And I think he gained, you know, he'd been losing fans
25:30
for a little while, but I think he gained a lot of them
25:33
in a ton of respect the other night because, you know,
25:36
they've showed that picture before they mean,
25:38
you know, we've tightened up the hose clamps and that.
25:40
It's like, dude, that's, that's Jack, you know,
25:43
Poncho Carter type of shit right there that, you know,
25:46
back in the old days, like, Oh, something's broke.
25:49
Well, we'll figure out a way to race still.
25:52
So huge props to him for sure.
25:55
The other one I saw was the king of the hill races.
25:59
And I think it was Cummins and CJ Leary.
26:02
Yeah, it's just like, yeah, CJ got a lot of booze.
26:06
He just, I mean, you know, it's the hard racing two cars.
26:09
You don't hit the throttle till the, till the flag stand.
26:12
And they get around turns one to and then make contact.
26:16
And Kyle Cummins left front ends up bent sideways.
26:18
So he had to bow out early.
26:21
Yeah, no, it's a pro Cummins fan.
26:24
Pro Cummins, Kyle, for sure there.
26:26
And I seen that and I, you know, I heard, I heard,
26:30
I heard they're like, Oh, I was Cummins.
26:32
This is our CJ just stuff Cummins in the wall, you know,
26:35
and I seen it and I, I don't know.
26:38
I mean, anytime, if you ever been to Kokomo and seen a race there,
26:44
it's like turned like a wall or something.
26:46
Maybe it is closer or something because you see that a lot there.
26:52
And you see guys even running on the high side of turn two,
26:56
that just gets sucked into the wall at times, you know.
26:59
And I, so I, I don't know.
27:01
I don't think it was that bad.
27:03
I mean, I, I mean, obviously CJ probably knew he was going to try swimming on the outside,
27:08
but I mean, it could have been a lot worse.
27:11
I mean, I, I don't think he like, okay, I'm like crashing for the king of the hill.
27:15
Cause they both started on the front row.
27:17
So, you know, you're just talking inside, outside.
27:20
And I don't think, you know, he was, well, of course, I think he got like 418 bucks,
27:26
but still I don't see CJ purposely trying to crashing for,
27:30
start on the pole and for 400 bucks.
27:33
Yeah, I didn't, I didn't think it was anything intentional by any means.
27:36
Just hard racing at Kokomo.
27:40
Like you said that wall off the, off a turn two,
27:44
down the back stretch seems to curve in or something more.
27:47
It seems like it creeps up on guys a lot quicker than anticipated.
27:49
Yeah. It bites people all the time.
27:51
That, that area bites people all the time and they both knew it.
27:55
And I think, you know, and I think Cummins, I ain't Cummins,
27:59
he's a very professional and he don't, you know, and he basically said to,
28:02
he's like, I knew he is coming up and I could have, you know,
28:06
could have backed off a little bit and didn't type thing, you know?
28:10
So just, just one of those deals.
28:15
All right. So other things going on,
28:17
the word of outlaw sprint cars were in action.
28:20
They raced Tuesday night on the 19th at Mississippi Thunder Speedway,
28:24
where David Gravel got the win.
28:26
Friday night, River City Speedway, where Buddy Kofoid got himself the win.
28:31
That was kind of a, you know, I guess the week started.
28:35
Well, Donny Shot's news was kind of the big thing,
28:37
sticking with Lunstra through this deal,
28:40
but he gained five spots on Friday night,
28:42
which is kind of his home track to finish eighth from 15th.
28:46
Saturday, they went over to Red River Valley Speedway in Fargo,
28:51
another one of those stomping ground tracks for Donny,
28:53
where Carson Macedo got himself the win.
28:56
Donny, again, started seventh, finished seventh,
28:59
so pretty good runs in borrowed equipment for the old fellow, we'll say.
29:04
Yeah, another thing for Shot's racing is he's,
29:08
Nises made their word of outlaw debut on Friday night.
29:14
Neither one made the A, but Saturday, they both put it in the A-Made.
29:18
And then the other thing, Sheldon Hottenshield led 23 of the 30 laps,
29:25
with Carson Macedo leading the last two.
29:28
So that was a bit of a...
29:29
Yeah, they had a pretty damn big, good battle, yeah.
29:33
That was a good battle, though.
29:34
I've seen the highlights.
29:35
That was a pretty good battle, the last handful laps.
29:39
Yeah, so Gravel now 172 over Buddy,
29:42
who is in second, Carson Macedo in third, he's 228 behind.
29:46
So, yeah, way to go, Buddy, making some ground up,
29:50
probably a quiet second place, you know,
29:53
high points finish for him this year.
29:55
We're just with everything going on in the sprint car realm,
29:58
and Gravel being so dominant.
29:59
But good job for Buddy, getting in there.
30:03
Well, yeah, because they started off,
30:04
we remember they started off really bad this season, you know.
30:09
They struggled to get things rolling,
30:11
but man, they found something about a quarter of a way
30:14
through the season, and it's been real good.
30:19
The high limits were also in action.
30:22
They were out west, racing Silver Dollar Speedway
30:27
for three nights, the Gold Cup Race of Champions.
30:32
Now, they're one of their main big time races on the year.
30:39
Corey Day took the win, starting from eight
30:42
on Thursday night, Brad Sweet's second.
30:45
Moving over to Friday, who won Friday?
30:48
Let's look here, Justin Sanders, that's right, got the win.
30:52
In the Wrightsville 87 car, or Ridge Sun Racing, 87, we'll say.
30:57
And then Saturday to the finale,
30:59
I didn't see many highlights or anything.
31:02
I'd say the only thing I saw was low light,
31:03
looked like the track rubbered up pretty significantly.
31:06
Yeah, we looked like it did a couple of nights.
31:09
Yeah, Corey Day got $100,000 and $100,071, so pretty big payday for him.
31:16
There's no way a quarter of a mile track in California
31:19
should take rubber for $100,000 to win the race.
31:22
Yeah. Yeah, it's pretty, again, I didn't see it.
31:25
It's like, well, the temperatures was high in that.
31:27
It's like, yeah, but usually, I mean, I remember when Chico
31:30
used to get watered really, really well and some of that.
31:34
It seems like the last few years, that places took rubber,
31:36
which, yeah, $100,000 in race, that's not good.
31:41
Yeah. I think they're, well, they got Skagit Nationals this weekend,
31:46
so another big pay in racing.
31:49
Yeah. Lucas Oil late models were at Port Royal for the weekend.
31:55
Two races, one winner, Ricky Thornton Jr.
31:59
Wasn't without a little controversy, we'll say.
32:01
I mean, little controversy slash hard racing,
32:04
but the final laps, well, he took the lead on lap 46
32:09
from Chris Madden, maybe a little bit of an aggressive move,
32:13
but hey, for $50,000, it's kind of hard to make aggressive moves.
32:19
Sounds like all was good after the race.
32:20
There was no one fighting or anything,
32:22
which Madden's not that kind of guy, but yeah.
32:25
And what did he get into it?
32:27
Ricky Thornton got what federate recorder,
32:29
I think to Jonathan Davenport on Friday night, so.
32:32
Yeah. Yep, I believe so.
32:34
Making some aggressive moves, but that's the way racing goes sometimes, I guess, so.
32:41
But yeah, Ricky actually took home $58,000.
32:44
They must have had a little lap sled or something.
32:49
Something like that, so.
32:51
Well, speaking of that, we haven't had a show since.
32:54
Aggressive moves that 90 C K Dillard suspended for the rest of the season with Lucas soil for his
33:05
aggressive move, which I don't agree with him being suspended for six months or whatever on that.
33:11
I mean, I just don't.
33:12
I mean, as we said before, like you said, that's part of the sport nowadays.
33:18
Aggressive moves that and Alberson, even though he didn't get into him,
33:22
it was an aggressive move that we said anybody throws that move knows he's going to slow down.
33:29
And the car behind you is either going to have to let up or hit you and Dillard decided to hit him.
33:36
So if you're going to suspend Dillard for six months, you should spend Alberson to
33:41
for throwing the move.
33:43
You know, I mean, it's not that I think Alberson should be suspended by any means,
33:48
but it's like, you know, that's one of those moves
33:52
where you throw it, you better be getting ready to get hit if the guy don't back off.
33:55
And you know, yes, 95% of the time the guy backs off, but there's a chance he's not going to.
34:02
And I mean, I don't know.
34:04
I thought it was kind of a shitty call that they suspended him for six months.
34:08
I think he would have been fine had he not said he did it on purpose.
34:12
I think that's where the that's I think if he wouldn't have said anything about,
34:17
you know, that side of it, he probably would have been okay.
34:20
But once you once you kind of say that, you kind of, you know,
34:24
put yourself in a position to for that to happen, I guess.
34:28
But shit, there's a lot of guys that said that, that, you know,
34:31
I mean, tell Turbo says that every other week.
34:36
And how many Davenport, you know, I don't know where people has talked about it.
34:42
I just, I don't know.
34:43
I just think it was, I think it was pretty stiff for no more than what it was.
34:49
And I mean, it's, it's also probably another thing where they evaluate like,
34:53
he doesn't race with us regularly.
34:54
He's probably not going to race many other races the rest of the year anyway.
34:57
So at that point, it's probably like, well, if we suspend them, we, you know,
35:01
we look like we more or less, it's more for optics, right?
35:04
Like the guy's probably not racing with you.
35:06
So what's the matter?
35:08
But at least you can say, well, we did something.
35:10
So right, wrong or different.
35:12
But yeah, I guess that's the way it is for now.
35:16
But BAP's motor speedway race last night, actually, wasn't it?
35:21
I think it was last night.
35:23
So I got that on here.
35:25
Anthony Mackery got himself the win over Double D, Chase Dietz, Brock Zierfoss,
35:29
Tyler Ross, your top five.
35:32
How much was it to win?
35:33
I think it was a pretty hefty one, wasn't it?
35:35
Oh, it was $10,000, I think.
35:37
Something like that.
35:38
So yeah, BAP's not a regular sprint car track, but sneaking in those special
35:42
shows whenever they can.
35:44
Yeah, that was the one that was rained out from the weekend before.
35:46
They rained it out and moved it to Wednesday as a rain out, I think, from Saturday.
35:57
Otherwise, I got new stuff to talk about.
35:59
I guess anything race-result-wise to, yeah, I don't know if you saw it, Duane,
36:05
but another one that, more local, Wayne County's late model accident Saturday night
36:10
was a pretty nice one.
36:12
If you haven't seen video of that, it's pretty gnarly.
36:19
Yes, the Zanesville Dozer was part of it.
36:23
What's the new song?
36:24
Do you like the new song?
36:26
Yeah, Kyle Moore and Todd Brennan getting together on the front stretch.
36:31
And Todd Brennan got into somebody.
36:35
But Bren ended up more or less turning right into the wall behind
36:39
Moore after they kind of got away from each other.
36:41
And they were running one and two.
36:44
And cars coming down the straightaway had nowhere to go.
36:47
And unfortunately, JR Gentry, I think he's at a Worcester, Ohio, races up in Attica a lot with us,
36:54
got the worst of it, went flying, flipping through the air.
36:57
Like, it was like a newer car, even, or maybe even brand new.
37:01
So he ended up with the shortest end of the stick,
37:05
you know, obviously making heavy impact with other cars.
37:07
So those other cars didn't get off easy by any means.
37:10
But yeah, Kyle Moore and Todd Brennan have had some issues otherwise this year.
37:14
So there's a little bit of a little bit of a jab going back and forth.
37:19
Or maybe it's only one side of a Kyle Moore side of things is all I've really seen.
37:23
So yeah, it's unfortunate end to the night for a lot of guys and a lot of wrecked stuff,
37:30
unfortunately, and luckily, JR is okay.
37:32
So that was a good thing.
37:33
He had a pretty good post.
37:34
He says, I'm going to get into the antics of some of the direct version.
37:38
But yeah, check out Kyle Moore's Facebook page.
37:42
If you want to see any more and you'll see a lot of,
37:47
remind me of bacon and blue, you know, they got the big 20 dozer,
37:52
little bulldozer with a 20 on it and shows, somebody did some time because it shows about,
37:59
oh, 20 to 30 clips of the 20 car crashing a lot of people.
38:03
Even our buddy, Ryan Misler got in it from a few years ago from when
38:07
Brennan, you know, and I think a lot of it is as a lot of people
38:14
replied is that he just, he's good.
38:17
All those guys tell you, he's going to take you out.
38:19
Then he's going to text you for 10 weeks later.
38:24
Everybody should be suspended.
38:26
Should be somebody like him.
38:28
But it all, and it all returns the Attica tomorrow night for the $5,000
38:34
They should all be there, more Brennan and Misler.
38:38
Not that Misler's had any issues or anything this year, but I'm sure, you know,
38:43
wouldn't take too much of spark or anything back up.
38:46
Yeah, that'll be a developing story, I'll say, while we're there.
38:53
Well, let you throw Rusty in there too.
38:54
And you imagine Rusty and Brennan getting into it.
38:57
Yeah, that could be an interesting.
39:00
That would be really interesting.
39:04
Yeah, we'll see how it all plays out.
39:06
I'm sure that's something Chris Tilley with the Iron Man series would love to have to deal with
39:11
on returning to Attica.
39:13
But yeah, been a lot of things online said we'll say that.
39:17
And I guess more to come as time goes on.
39:21
We'll see what happens.
39:22
It's a catchy song.
39:26
Who won the sprint cars?
39:37
Tyler Gunn, didn't he?
39:38
Oh, was it a fast show?
39:43
Pretty certain he did.
39:45
I just haven't heard much.
39:47
Pretty sure it was the gun.
39:52
That was I'm getting confused on what day shit is.
39:58
I'm like, they're showing mill stream results.
39:59
I was like, yeah, dumb ass because that was on
40:05
Tyler Gunn won Jordan Ryan's second.
40:07
Henry Malkiew at third.
40:12
Other stuff I got news wise.
40:14
I don't know if you saw the news.
40:15
I know Duane did, but listeners out there.
40:17
Josh Richards returning to the seat this weekend.
40:22
In another rocket one car, but for the Hillbilly 100
40:28
happening at Lernerville Speedway this year.
40:32
That just don't sound right.
40:35
Well, you see Tyler County's having like a 20,000
40:42
The country roads 100 or.
40:45
Yeah, I'm like that weekend.
40:47
And I know like Hudson O'Neill's going there
40:50
with the Rumley car on Sunday to race.
40:55
Because Tyler County's big race is on Sunday,
40:59
So that way they're going to get Saldura.
41:01
But I know like RTJ and some other guys are coming to El Dora.
41:07
Turbo are coming to El Dora Sunday.
41:09
Obviously it's World 100 warm up event.
41:12
So it'll be good cars in both places it sounds like.
41:15
But yeah, Tyler County's still trying to have their big
41:18
Labor Day hootenanny and still paying out some big bucks.
41:23
So go check them out.
41:24
And El Dora is putting 48 cars.
41:26
It says it sounds like doing split field.
41:29
If they hopefully they get enough to do it because it says
41:31
it's going to be two A mains and 48 drivers.
41:34
So it's like to me it's going to be the split field where
41:38
yeah, group A and group B and heats and a main for both.
41:42
So yeah, I've seen RTJ and turbo and some of them will be at El Dora.
41:48
And I'm sure a lot of other because it's only tuned up before the World 100.
41:53
I know the last few years that race it's kind of been shitty for the late
41:57
model guys because it ends up freaking too watered down and too heavy.
42:01
And tracks definitely not World 100 conditions at that point.
42:07
It was 48, hopefully a bunch of late models and obviously the modified stock cars
42:12
hopefully can widen the track out enough for it to be a true test for everyone.
42:16
But yeah, that'll be a good show to get to especially on Sunday.
42:20
And not a whole lot racing against it.
42:22
You can't ever go wrong.
42:25
And you can usually see or Tyler County a couple times I've been there.
42:28
It's hard to see what's happening.
42:31
There's dust is like no other there.
42:35
Other news, sad news that you probably saw Dwayne but Forest Lucas,
42:39
the Lucas Oil founder and you know, main guy behind the
42:44
Lucas Oil dirt late model series.
42:46
I'm sorry, Lucas Oil late model dirt series.
42:49
Forest Lucas passed away at 83 years old.
42:53
There's done a ton, an absolute ton for racing.
42:57
Late models and spring call.
42:59
Even more than that.
43:00
Late miles, spring car, drag racing, off road racing.
43:03
I mean, has Lucas Oil Speedway.
43:06
Lucas Oil Speedway, you know,
43:08
look soil late models big into Lucas Oil Stadium, which that
43:14
fear actually should happen because that naming rights was through 26.
43:18
So, you know, a guy that I've met.
43:21
Handful times and Ben in his suite with him in it at times.
43:26
So, very awesome guy.
43:30
You know, very big figure and motor sports on that end that
43:36
you know, will definitely miss for sure.
43:39
It can't be under overstated enough how much he's done
43:42
like Dwayne said, not for just our circle racing.
43:46
You know, motocross, off road, drag boat racing.
43:50
You know, just anything that had wheels that would go fast.
43:54
That seemed like Lucas Oil was willing to support.
43:59
You know, I know a lot of that's changed with Morgan taking over
44:02
and, you know, things pro pro polling league.
44:05
That was another one that was big for a long time
44:08
for tractor poles and stuff.
44:09
So, well, they started Mav TV.
44:13
And Lucas Oil TV and now obviously they're partnered with Flow.
44:17
So, a lot of things going on with the Lucas name on it for sure.
44:22
And Morgan's caught a lot back when he took over for force.
44:25
But yeah, it'll be interesting to see what happens.
44:29
And yeah, definitely a guy that's helped me.
44:33
And as a guy that you meet, if you didn't know who he was,
44:37
you would have no clue that he was a multi-million
44:41
or billionaire compared to you.
44:43
Because he'd dress like you, talk, and he'd talk.
44:46
Well, one time I was in the Lucas Oil suite for football game
44:50
Steelers and Colts on Thanksgiving Day.
44:56
And we're sitting there and we kind of felt bad
44:59
because we was about the only one that wasn't his family.
45:01
They said I was having a Thanksgiving dinner and that.
45:03
But we was in there and he'd come over and talk to us.
45:06
And yeah, well, thanks for tickets.
45:08
I said, well, I really want to thank you about all the stuff
45:11
you do for racing at home.
45:12
I was like, I opened up a new chapter.
45:15
He stood there and talked for, heck,
45:17
we missed a good quarter of the football game
45:19
because he said, are you going to race this?
45:25
Yeah, I don't think you know what you're talking to.
45:31
But yeah, he was this great guy.
45:35
Fortunately, time comes for everyone.
45:37
But obviously, his legacy lives on.
45:39
So we'll hope to keep it alive here for years to come.
45:44
I think he's big at Chilly Bowl for a while, too.
45:47
I mean, he's a stranger to no one.
45:50
If he's seen you, I mean, like I said,
45:52
he wouldn't be afraid to talk to anybody.
45:54
He was a stranger to no one, for sure.
45:59
Other news in the Ohio Sprint car racing scene.
46:02
A new series has been announced.
46:05
I know there was a little bit of inkling about it
46:07
we had heard, but didn't know what it really meant
46:10
or how it was going to go.
46:11
But the Gladiator Sprint Tour is now formed.
46:15
Going to be based for Southern Ohio, Northeast Kentucky,
46:18
and Western West Virginia.
46:21
Brought to you by the same folks
46:22
at Fast in the Boss series.
46:24
So Aaron Fry running this series.
46:27
There is one series down in Southern Ohio
46:29
that races already in that same area.
46:32
Sounds like it's a little bit of a piss and match
46:37
It's definitely aimed to take that one out of business.
46:40
And anybody that's dealt with that series
46:42
knows that's been controversy.
46:45
There's been, you know, the series guy
46:47
sends threatening letters, which I've got a few myself.
46:52
He likes to threaten people.
46:53
He's one of those behind the closed doors,
46:56
tough guys type things, you know,
46:58
and he likes to stir the show.
46:59
I mean, he got fired from the All Stars
47:00
for throwing rocks of cars as an official
47:03
from the infield one night.
47:06
So he's done a lot of shady shit at race tracks.
47:10
And I think this is the try to get him out of that area.
47:13
I mean, I mean, the handwriting is on the wall.
47:15
That's what it's for.
47:16
I mean, paying more money
47:19
and targeting the tracks that they're going to be at.
47:21
So be interested to see what happens
47:23
because he definitely ain't going to go away
47:27
without a fight, I'm sure.
47:28
So it could be interesting.
47:30
Maybe physically not a fight.
47:34
So it sounds like it's mostly going to happen,
47:38
you know, around four tracks this new series,
47:40
like with Atomic and maybe another Ohio track,
47:44
couple Kentucky tracks probably to start.
47:46
So it's, you know, it's going to start out small,
47:48
pays a little more than the OVSCA,
47:51
which is the other series.
47:53
But I did see someone post that the first race
47:55
is at Atomic Speedway in September 13th.
47:58
And I saw a Sprintcar driver comment
48:01
that the purse they're paying is less than
48:02
the standard Atomic purse.
48:04
So I don't know how it's going to work out.
48:07
Well, Atomic took Sprintcars off their thing now
48:10
because they wasn't getting any.
48:12
And so yeah, it's smaller than the Atomic purse,
48:15
which I think Charlie's in on this deal a little bit too.
48:24
So the purse is getting kind of Atomic to run these guys,
48:27
but it sounds like the weaker, you know, it says,
48:31
it sounds like a lot of Sprintcar races
48:33
aren't on the Atomic schedule anymore.
48:36
It'll be interesting to see what happens.
48:40
The other bit of news I had,
48:42
one of them was Dillard suspended for six months,
48:45
but we talked about that already.
48:47
The other is, did you see West Virginia Water Speedway
48:50
has put a date out there to come back from the dead?
48:53
And it's shrugged down to three eighths now.
48:57
I believe West Virginia Water Speedway comes back
48:59
and they reconfigured it to be a smaller track inside
49:02
the ginormous outside track.
49:06
I haven't seen much more detail on, you know,
49:09
if you go to their Facebook page,
49:11
they have some updates and things going on.
49:13
But I know the way the lights and stuff were before,
49:17
it'd be interesting to see if they reconfigured
49:20
all their lights and stuff.
49:21
I would imagine they had to.
49:22
But yeah, it comes back under a different look,
49:27
but the same nice facility, I believe,
49:30
that it's kind of always been.
49:32
Yeah, and the people that have that just bought
49:35
another race track, too.
49:36
Yeah, they bought Elkins, it sounds like.
49:41
Which they're planning on bringing it back
49:42
and 201s back and there's three or four tracks
49:47
coming back the way it looks in that region.
49:50
And then Kentucky area, West Virginia, Kentucky area.
49:54
So it'll be interesting.
49:57
Yeah, looking at West Virginia Motor Speedway's Facebook page,
50:01
they have the lights on the front stretch kind of still,
50:04
which I didn't care for because they face the crowd.
50:07
They're lit on the inside, which is kind of weird.
50:10
But the lights on the back stretch
50:11
still seem to be in place.
50:12
So I wonder what they're going to do for lighting
50:15
down the back stretch, maybe some temp lights or something.
50:17
Lots more tracks, a lot easier to do than the old one.
50:21
But yeah, it looks racy.
50:22
They had some cars on it testing it out.
50:24
So hey, we'll see what happens, I guess.
50:29
Track I've never been to yet.
50:30
And so I'm going to get to the big one,
50:32
but maybe I can get to the small one sometime.
50:35
All right, well, this weekend, we got Labor Day weekend.
50:40
Attica's got a big weekend slated.
50:43
The Attica and Bush, which tomorrow night I will be at.
50:47
Dwayne, believe it or not, 5,000 to win late models
50:52
and what 7,500 to win for Sprint cars, all-star Sprints?
50:56
Only five tomorrow for Sprint cars, I believe.
50:58
I think it's five for both tomorrow than Saturday,
51:01
I think the Saturday's 7,500 for the Sprint cars
51:08
So big weekend there.
51:09
The Baltas Classic on Sunday, like Dwayne said,
51:12
dual features for 48 cars to have a shot to make a feature.
51:18
And then Butler actually has the Iron Man series up there
51:22
So a lot of racing going on in the area.
51:25
All-stars go to Wayne County for the Pete Jacobs Memorial
51:28
for 10 grand on Sunday.
51:33
And a lot of other stuff.
51:34
A lot of, still a ton of races everywhere.
51:37
And then the Granddaddy of them all comes into town.
51:39
The World 100 down at Eldora Speedway.
51:43
What do you think of the world, Dwayne?
51:44
What's some guesses you got here?
51:48
Well, you know, late models are a little more standard
51:55
than the Sprint cars.
51:56
So you know, I love Knoxville and the King's Royal this year
52:01
because we had kind of independent guys winning
52:04
that don't follow any series that kind of under,
52:09
I'd love to see that happen at Eldora for late models.
52:11
Is it going to happen?
52:14
I'd love to see it happen.
52:16
Like a Jason Jamison or, hey, do you think Kid Rocket
52:20
I mean, I don't know.
52:23
Yeah, he could, yeah, how, what kind of return to that
52:26
because you know, I think it's probably going to be
52:29
a little rusty, but Eldora sometimes is an equalizer
52:34
But I don't know, I hate to keep beating the same horse,
52:39
but we obviously know it's going to be between Pearson,
52:43
Davenport, more than likely.
52:47
And, you know, Moran could be in there,
52:49
and Nioh could be in there.
52:50
RTJ, he's getting better at Eldora, you know?
52:54
I mean, he's, but Eldora just is the one that you
53:01
I mean, can he win there 100%, but he's, you know,
53:05
I wouldn't say he's your top three that he's going to,
53:08
you know, on your list, but I think it's probably
53:12
going to be pretty standard.
53:13
I think, I think it'll definitely be between Davenport
53:18
and Pierce, but it'd be awesome if you could get
53:21
somebody in there to win, you know, like Kings Royale
53:25
and Knoxville was some of these guys that may not
53:29
file, you know, anybody or, you know, or a, I don't want to
53:34
say smaller team, because we all know there's
53:37
about the top 70, 80, eight mile teams.
53:39
They're all pretty equal or, you know, pretty tough,
53:41
but, but like Garrett Alberson or Chris Madden,
53:45
I'm not, but Madden's been there, but, you know,
53:47
get a, you know, somebody in there, you know,
53:52
kind of one of those guys that you wouldn't expect,
53:57
you know. Yeah. I'm interested to see.
54:00
I don't know if you saw, but I haven't read the article,
54:07
but the rocket, the house car is a little different
54:12
if you hadn't heard. Oh, really?
54:16
Yeah. Supposedly a few weeks ago, the rocket came
54:19
out with the new car. Now, the, I guess, the
54:25
push pull on the thing is a copy of a longhorn, right?
54:31
So there's been a lot of, a lot of back and forth on that,
54:34
I guess, but yeah, I haven't heard, I just saw it
54:39
in a blip the other day and I was like, oh, I hadn't seen
54:41
that one. So kind of have a hard time finding it on dirt
54:44
on dirt, but supposedly Richards, you know, said, no,
54:47
it's not a copy and, you know, kind of,
54:50
it will say angry about it maybe. I don't know.
54:53
Doesn't like that notion, which understandably so, but
54:57
yeah, it sounds like there's a new initiative going on
55:00
with the rocket team to improve their stuff. So
55:05
Brandon Shepard's had better luck recently and better
55:09
finishes recently with the win and, you know,
55:12
winner two and some top four, top five finishes
55:14
regularly. So it'll be an interesting thing to see
55:19
if that changes their El Dora outcome.
55:24
Well, if kid Rockets, probably the new one then too.
55:27
Yeah, probably. It's, yeah, it'll be a new thing to keep an eye on,
55:33
I guess. And yeah, I don't know. It'll be a wild one if
55:39
they have some luck with that. And then I'm going to be
55:41
lined up to be buying some fricking, some rockets again.
55:45
So yeah. And I'm glad kid Rockets back. Hopefully he'll do good.
55:52
Yeah, it'll be interesting. Maybe, maybe Jenna's brother
55:54
will give us funny because the other night I got a message
55:59
from one of our listeners that runs a late mile series
56:02
in the south. I get a message pops up being, hey, Jenna's
56:06
brother just won 12k with a stop here.
56:11
So I wonder if he knows we call him Jenna's brother.
56:16
That's awesome. But he's a guy that, I mean, in all seriousness,
56:20
he's ran good as El Dora. I mean, that would be an under shot or,
56:24
you know, an underdog that could possibly do it or, you know, Zach
56:28
don't, how many times has he been on the verge of a good run to
56:32
El Dora and something happens? I mean, it'd be cool to see
56:34
somebody or even Kyle Bronson, you know, he look, he's
56:37
kind of had a shitty year and he's always fast as El Dora
56:40
if he can keep the right fender out of the wall.
56:44
You know, it'd be cool to see somebody like that that's, you
56:48
know, always been there and always been tough and pop off a
56:54
win like that. Yeah, it's about the year for it. I mean, you
56:58
know, every once in a while, the war 100 used to produce
57:01
a winner like that and I haven't done that for a while.
57:04
Yeah, it's going to be wild because it's hard to pick
57:08
against, you know, the three Pierce Davenport and, you know,
57:13
Thornton. It's just like you said, it's late models just seem
57:16
to have a thing going where it's, it's hard to, hard to pick
57:20
against the old reliable guys, but El Dora can be a different
57:24
animal for a lot of people. Yep. Well, yeah, because McCready's
57:27
always tough there. McDowell's always tough. O'Neill's
57:31
always tough. Moran's always tough. You know, so El
57:35
Dora widens it a little bit, but then, you know, you get some
57:38
wild factors in there. Josh Rice, if he got the right deal,
57:43
you know, Kyle Bronson, you know, I mean, you know, Jameson
57:48
runs good down there, then you just never know. I mean, you
57:51
get somebody who gets on El Dora. Yeah, I mean, what about
57:55
Brandon Overton? I mean, he was dominant El Dora for a
57:58
lot of couple of years and he's just, I mean, I don't
58:01
know what's off there, but he's just not winning like
58:04
he used to, but he's another guy that could change his
58:06
season around to see you got back to some El Dora ways that
58:09
he had a few years ago. Yeah. Yeah, it's, it's hard to, hard
58:15
to pick against old Faithful's, but it's also not
58:17
surprising when you see someone come through and, and get a
58:22
big one there, but we'll see what happens. Yeah. It's
58:25
always a hell of a time where 100's undefeated with
58:29
being, being an awesome event. So, yeah, I'm, I plan on
58:33
being there Friday and Saturday at least. So, I'm
58:36
looking forward to it and yeah. Well, you're gonna get to
58:39
three races in just over a week. That's right, man. I'm, I'm
58:43
exceeding expectations. Who are you? I don't know. Crazy.
58:47
It's crazy, man. What are you doing this weekend? Well, as
58:54
of tonight, it wasn't gonna happen. I was actually
58:58
planning on going to Pennsylvania for the
59:00
weekend, but that's got changed. And then we actually
59:04
talked about going to Bloomington for the midgets
59:09
are there tomorrow night. The rain out of the
59:11
Speed Week deal and was gonna go there, but some
59:16
things just come up or we ain't gonna be able to leave,
59:18
leave until, we ain't gonna be able to leave early
59:21
enough to go to any of those. So, we're now
59:24
gonna go to Attica tomorrow night. Oh, good.
59:27
Sweet. Yeah. So, we'll be in the same place though.
59:30
You know, plus, you know, I wouldn't be just sad if
59:33
there's some late model fireworks off this song and
59:36
you know, I wonder if I can pipe it into the PA right
59:39
for the main or something, you know? Yeah. I just
59:43
gotta walk through the pits and say, hey, I heard
59:44
so and so was talking shit about you. Right.
59:47
And then go down to the other guy and say, hey, I
59:49
heard so and so was talking shit about you. Oh,
59:52
that's right. I start singing the song or
59:53
something. All I want to do is rec, rec, rec. We
59:58
also got a listener attending as well at Attica
00:02
Friday tomorrow. Our buddy Wolfie from Montana is
00:06
gonna make the trip over. Oh, cool. Yeah. He's
00:10
down at school in Lima. So, he texted me and
00:15
yeah, it sounds like he's gonna be there. So,
00:19
awesome. So, that's our game plan now for
00:22
as the hit Attica Raceway Park tomorrow night. So,
00:25
yeah. Good. Yeah. And I don't know about the rest of
00:29
the weekend because we was gonna go, we was gonna,
00:31
we kind of had a little thought of and four
00:35
different ones for, so we'll see what happens
00:37
because there's so many, so many around. We'll
00:42
just see where we end up but could possibly
00:45
end up at El Dor on Sunday. Yeah. We'll
00:50
see. There's a bunch of stuff happening. So, we'll
00:54
see what happens with uh, we'll be somewhere. Yeah.
00:58
I am. Somewhere. I'm actually not gonna be at El
01:01
Dor on Sunday. Um, we are going to a concert down
01:04
in Noblesville on Sunday night. Oh, yeah? Yeah.
01:08
Which one? Uh, falling in reverse, slaughter,
01:12
slaughter to prevail, Hollywood undead and
01:15
sleep theory are performing. I like falling
01:18
in reverse seeing them twice. So, any time they
01:21
kind of come around, I try to get tickets and
01:23
their tour started, you know, whatever a week or
01:25
two ago and um, yeah, I bought these tickets a
01:27
long time ago and um, I knew it was the same
01:30
night. I didn't know they were doing dual feature
01:32
format but um, obviously they don't come through,
01:35
you know, maybe once a year if you're lucky
01:37
and it's a Sunday night where we, you know,
01:39
Labor Day so we don't have to take work off
01:40
the next day or anything. So, it worked out uh,
01:43
worked out a little too nice to try and go
01:45
hit that up. So, we're going to be uh, down in
01:48
Indianapolis Sunday at a concert. Yeah, because
01:51
originally I think about Bedford tomorrow
01:53
night and Lincoln and that but that got
01:54
changed. So, uh, but we'll be at Attica
01:57
tomorrow night and then I don't know, but
01:58
speaking of tickets, I don't know if you've
02:00
seen, did you see that? Uh, you know, we
02:03
got Dome coming up in December. Did you
02:05
see Coles County, which is a track that uh,
02:09
Wilson, I really loved last year when we
02:12
went to the Illinois Midget Week deals,
02:13
doing that uh, invite deal on a Sunday
02:16
night, the last Sunday in September for
02:19
Road to the Dome. I did not. Well, it is,
02:22
it's a little cold. You know, that's where
02:24
Pearson, a few guys, practiced last year
02:26
for the Dome and uh, so they're doing,
02:28
it's like a $45,000 purse for the late
02:31
models and then they're doing modified
02:33
this, all invite like the Dome and
02:35
so the RTJ and Turbo and uh, a lot of
02:39
them's committed already. Well, tickets
02:40
went on sale. It's only uh, eight rows
02:43
high, the grandstand, so they're planning
02:46
on selling out within the first few
02:47
minutes. Well, uh, we got our tickets, so
02:50
we're gonna be going down to Coles
02:51
County on a Sunday night in September,
02:54
last Sunday in September and uh,
02:57
watching this little invite deal to the
02:59
Dome, so. Very cool. Um, it should be
03:02
interesting because it's a, I don't
03:04
know if it's as big as the Dome to
03:06
be honest. Yeah, it says uh,
03:08
confirmed invites Chris Ferguson, Tyler
03:10
Irb, Gordy Gundecker, Ricky Thornton
03:12
Jr., Tyler Carpenter, Jason Feger, Bob
03:14
Gardner, Drake Trautman, Trevor Gundecker,
03:16
SuperShep, Brian Shirley, Ethan Dodson,
03:18
Tommy Shepherd, Blaise Burwell, so those
03:21
are confirmed so far. Yeah, it says
03:23
they didn't let them all out, so they're
03:25
trying to, so since it didn't sell
03:29
out, we'll get some more and uh,
03:31
yeah and it's funny is uh, I've seen
03:33
people's giving them shit for
03:35
inviting Bob Gardner like, well, he
03:37
can't race and suppose he can't race
03:39
the Dome either, like this ain't the Dome.
03:41
And we invited him, so. Yeah, um, yeah,
03:47
45,000 purse, 10,000 to win, 750 to
03:52
Presented by Rural King, man, can't go
03:54
wrong there. Yep, so I got top row
03:57
tickets. Oh, nice. Don't fall off. The whole
04:00
seven or eight row of psi. We're good.
04:05
So hopefully, hopefully it'll be wide enough
04:07
that they can run a couple wide. Oh yeah,
04:09
that is a tiny little thing, isn't it?
04:12
Yeah, I don't think it's as tiny or as
04:14
big as the Dome, but we'll find out.
04:18
We was there for the Midget Week
04:20
race, the Illinois Midget Week race
04:21
we went to is the best midget race
04:23
I've seen in a while, but
04:25
anywhere in that region, so hopefully
04:27
the light model race will be a
04:30
decent one. I mean, it's got to
04:32
be decent because there ain't
04:33
anywhere to go, so. Yeah, it could be
04:36
decent or a spin cycle, you never know.
04:40
Yeah. All right, well, I got nothing
04:44
else to talk about, Dwayne. How about you?
04:47
Um, not that I can think of. Okay, I got
04:51
my fantasy football draft happening
04:53
in 20 minutes, so it works out perfect.
04:54
Oh, wow. Pick your losers. That's
04:57
right. I'm not picking any Steelers,
05:00
so I should be fine. No, you should
05:03
be fine. Yeah, you pick out your
05:04
Browns players. Yeah, all they do. I
05:06
know better than that.
05:10
Pick your Browns players. Just because I'm a
05:12
Browns fan doesn't mean I'm
05:14
unrealistic. Okay, I understand the
05:17
reality of being a Browns fan.
05:22
So all right, we'll wrap it up. Thank you
05:24
everybody for listening. Thank you for
05:26
tuning in. We appreciate it each and
05:28
every week. Yeah, go to a race this
05:30
weekend. It's a huge race. There's
05:31
plenty of races everywhere for sure.
05:33
We'll be on tracks. We'll be off Monday
05:36
because it's Labor Day and we'll come
05:37
back to you after the World 100, so
05:40
hopefully everyone. I mean, hell, LA's
05:41
going to a race, so you better be ashamed
05:44
if you can't go on LA it is. That's
05:46
right. That's a bad day. There you go.
05:49
Don't be, don't, yeah, don't be worse
05:54
All right. Anyway, as always, stay
05:57
dirty and we'll see you next time.
